Apologies for the low quality, but a truly BLESSED image from Sushio. This is a newly drawn illustration made for the "Hiroyuki Imashi's World" Exhibition.
Just LOOK at the way Satsuki is holding Ryuko!! And the way Ryuko has her arms over Satsuki's arms. They look so genuinely happy!! They've come such a long way! Ryuko absolutely HATED being touched, in the beginning. She would dodge Mako anytime she tried to hug her. And Satsuki was practically royalty and nobody DARED touch her. Even accidentally spraying blood on her was an offense worthy of audible gasps. Now look at them. Just two softies who are comfortable being hugged by one another. From bitter enemies to loving sisters. I know this is just supposed to be a cute illustration and I'm probably reading too much into it but STILL. It warms my heart.
I also love Satsuki's hair and Mako hanging out in her fight club uniform.

Do you think there will be a second season at all?
I don't think so. I think the game is the closest thing we'll ever get to a season 2. They wrapped up the story really well, so I don't see Trigger continuing the storyline any further. I really hope I'm wrong, though. If there were to be a second season, I'd want it to have a Little Witch Academia vibe. Ultimately wholesome, but serious when needed. I'd especially wanna see more sisterly bonding between Satsuki and Ryuko.

One reason I fucking love Ryuuko/KLK is that she doesn’t kill her self trying to defeat anyone. Yeah, she’s nearly there, she loses as much blood as she can before she’s unable to move, but she has zero problem with retreating.
RETREATING!
Male action protagonists could never! They would rather die than admit they can’t handle an enemy. Ryuuko’s not even embarrassed by the fact that she just bounces in the middle of a battle. Once Senketsu tells her she’s about to die from blood loss, she’s Outtie 5000. She’s humble enough to admit when she’s outmatched and will retreat.

Kill la Kill Perfumes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
FairyTail Parfum, a company which manufactures perfumes inspired by popular franchises and characters, opened pre-orders for their upcoming Kill la Kill scents last Friday, February 14th.
These new scents are set to release on March 3rd and are available in two varieties, Ryuko Matoi and Satsuki Kiryuin. Both are sold in quantities of 50 milliliters and can currently be purchased on Dreaming Princess and Amazon Japan. Each costs 2,500 yen (about $23) plus tax and is packaged in a specially characterized box and bottle.
Specifically, Ryuko’s box is a dark blue and features the Synchronized eye of her Kamui, Senketsu, while Satsuki’s is white and features the Overridden eye of her Kamui, Junketsu. The sides of both boxes depict each woman’s name alongside an illustration of her weapon—the Scissor Blade for Ryuko and the sword Bakuzan for Satsuki—and a line drawing of the untransformed Kamui and their wearer adorn the front of each bottle. A Life Fiber design decorates the back, with Ryuko’s bottle sporting a fiery red color and Satsuki’s emitting an icy blue. Buyers also receive a Honnouji Academy hand gel as a bonus.

As perfume cannot be shipped internationally, fans living outside of Kill la Kill’s home country are unable to receive these items at this time. However, a Crunchyroll article by Paul Chapman translates what exactly each fragrance will smell like, noting:
The Ryuko Matoi eau de parfum is a citrus-y scent, with a top note of lemon and lime, a middle note of eucalyptus, rose, and lily of the valley, and a last note of sandalwood and musk. The Satsuki Kiryuin eau de parfum is a spicy scent, with a top note of white pepper and Earl Grey, a middle note of freesia, honeysuckle, rose, and jasmine, and a last note of sandalwood, musk, and amber.
Additionally, while untranslated in Chapman’s article, FairyTail’s product page elaborates on why these scents were chosen. As written there, the citrus of Ryuko’s top note is reminiscent of her introductory scene where she eats a lemon, while Satsuki’s white pepper and Earl Grey represents her “strong will.”
Tumblr media
Further, the “sweet” middle note of Satsuki’s perfume is said to represent her “hidden kindness,” while the “warm” last note expresses Satsuki’s “compassion for Ryuko,” whom she catches in her arms in the final episode of the series.
Tumblr media
Finally, while not detailed explicitly, considering hanakotoba, Japanese flower language, might also reveal insight into the fragrances. According to hanakotoba.com, the rose scents in both perfumes could be said to represent “love” and “beauty.”
Tumblr media
For the other elements of Ryuko’s middle note, eucalyptus and lily of the valley, meanings for eucalyptus include “rebirth,” “regeneration,” and “recollections,” while meanings for lily of the valley include “happiness will come again,” “purity” (literally “Junketsu”), and “humility.”
Tumblr media
Eucalyptus, which originate from the wildfire-prone Australia, are noted to be reborn after these fires ravage the land, and likewise, Ryuko is perhaps “reborn” after the tragedy of losing her father, as she then finds true friends and family for the first time in her life. On a similar vein, lily of the valley is emphasized as a joyous flower and a symbol of spring. Even after the bitter winter, “happiness will come again,” and Ryuko, too, comes to find happiness even after enduring great hardship.
For the other elements of Satsuki’s middle note—freesia, honeysuckle, and jasmine—meanings for freesia include “innocence,” “purity” (literally “Junketsu”), and “deep affection”; meanings for honeysuckle include “bonds of love” and “devoted love”; and meanings for jasmine include “amiability,” “elegance,” “loveliness,” and “sensuality.”
Tumblr media
Considering that the last note of Satsuki’s perfume represents her love for Ryuko, it’s likely that the scents symbolizing her “hidden kindness” are related to Ryuko as well. Satsuki has a deep affection for her father and the sister she thought she had lost, and she devotes herself so thoroughly to avenging both that her lovely personality and amiability are concealed behind a guise of coldness and cruelty. While Satsuki is truly a soul as sweet as freesia, as pleasant as jasmine, and as connected to her love for her family as honeysuckle is to the tree it wraps itself around, it takes time for these qualities to reveal themselves and become known.
However the scents are interpreted, of course, the existence of such a product perhaps answers questions about what these animated heroines might smell like… and allows buyers to smell just like them.
