Rhythm Heaven DS is officially 15 years old! Which means that these two have also been around for 15 years, so of course I had to do a little drawing of them celebrating this big milestone together 💛💙

ooooh what a cool funky guy!! I’ll have to draw him myself sometime!!

Apart from Scratch-don, I’ve never really delved into creating another, more original character. But since late-September/early-November last year I’ve finally came up for my own personal circlehead/humanoid character, Harry! (generic name I know lol)

Not much is known about him other than the fact that he currently owns, runs, and lives in an abandoned arcade located at an abandoned shoreside town where all of its residents have been evacuated following a major laboratory incident some 20 plus years ago - except him, and because of this he technically has the entire town to himself 24/7! (And of course, he can survive just fine in the environment he is in.)

All by himself, he has transformed the abandoned arcade to become what is essentially his cool rhythm gaming pad where it is also open to certain visitors, if there are any. But his place still gets visited by his friends from all across the land and have a blast playing at his arcade, whether it be chilling and doing IIDX sessions together, or even for arcade reparation and advice!

And I think that’s as far as I have on his lore - it will continue as I pick up on new inspirations, and more silly tropes and traits I can apply that fits his mainly kind, cheerful, smug, but also can be easily flustered personality.

I would also like to give big shoutouts and thank @tikara for helping me out with his character design until this guy finally comes into fruition, and all the hours of fun workshops behind his lore to polish it down, it turned out very good and handsome I love it lol 💚💚💚

It’s still in progress, but welcome to a blog starring the Monster Prom ship that deserves so much more attention than it gets, and my primary comfort pairing. Things are heavily under construction right now, and I’m a busy college student, but I needed to make this promo to get the word out!

Get ready for some laughs, some cuteness, and lots of wholesome family-friendly fun in spite of the source material. Welcome to a blog where an autistic gay asexual man takes his comfort characters and projects one or more of the above adjectives on them and then makes you ask them questions. Hooray!

I hope to make a proper promo soon, but it’s been so busy, I have a lot more to work on, like a proper rules page, mod info, fixing format and theme, all that. Still, best to get an early promo out to spread around! If you could give these two goofs a promo, that would be great! Every reblog helps, even if this is mindless self indulgence, I hope to share something I find very therapeutic and cute with all of you. Sorry for my inactivity friends!! I’m just so burnt out, I’ve really exhausted myself making as much content as I have, and as a full time art school student now I just don’t have much of the time that I used to. That and my hyperfixations are hitting a hard drift and as much as I wish I could stop them it’s just. Off they go. I’m kinda knee deep in Okami brainrot right now—

I really wanna make more content soon! Though I’m hitting the brakes on a lot of my shippier content because there’s a lot of discomfort and anxiousness in me now about posting that stuff and being judged for it. I do want to still leave an outlet open for people to read my stories for the DJs, I’m just not entirely sure what a safe bet for that is yet. We’ll see.

I’m trying to relegate only my most polished work to this blog, or just things I actually care about lol, and in the RH department I just haven’t had much lately.

I hope to be posting again soon! But for now I just need to settle into my routine more and also hope my RH hyperfixation comes back as fierce as it was before.

Recompiling my DJ stories elsewhere, sorry that they’re gone at the moment but when I get things figured out they’ll be back!

I just want them to be a bit hard to find if you’re just casually scrolling through RH tags so people who dislike that kind of content don’t find it, and mainly so I can keep it personal with my followers who are here for the content. Figuring things out soon!

People have been seeing me post this WIP on my WIP twitter for some time and originally I was only going to post it here since this is where all my polished, finished stuff lives, but something came up at the time I finished it and I didn’t have time to fully write out this post since there’s a lot I’d like to cover so I at least posted it because I was so happy to have finished and held off on this proper post until I could properly put down everything I wanted to say regarding it. ^^”

So this is my concept for DJ School 2! I wanted to do some fully colored, lined and shaded drawings for potential minigame sequels and me being who I am, this was the first on my list to go to. Glow sticks and rave themed, of course!

I came up with a gameplay idea I was really happy with too in this hypothetical DJ School 2, since it matches with the rave theme. A lot of sequels (first ones that come to mind for me are Fillbots 2 and Screwbot Factory 2) like to mess with the lights to try and throw the player off on visual cues, and I think a potential DJ School 2 could use this too! Particularly I think after the player stops the record after “break, c’mon, ooh!”, the lights go out completely and don’t come back on until the player successfully lands the following Scratch-O, where the crowd cheers for the success. And alternatively if the player fails that input, there is a very unsatisfactory slapping noise followed by the lights coming on, showing DJ Yellow holding his nose in pain after being smacked by his partner.

I’d like to think of even introducing a new mechanic like some of the sequels do to give DJ Yellow more stuff to do, I doubt it would be very complicated, but I think some actual record scratching would be cool as other people who came up with DJ School 2 ideas have done, and I’d like to see it as a sort of “repeat after me” mechanic where the player needs to copy the scratches Yellow does, as opposed to the minigame’s usual style of responding to cues with the same actions.

I’m not of a very musical mind so I can’t speak on what exactly I think the song of this should sound like, but my vision is of course a remix of the original DJ School with a far faster tempo and the music taking a much more electronic pitch, perhaps even bitcrushed to some extent. Who knows?

And to end off, the description I wrote for it!!

“You’ve proven yourself worthy at the DJ School, so now it’s time to take to the stage for a partner show between pros!”

Firstly, let me say I’m sorry for the pride flags I missed! I was working with space and didn’t want things to feel too cluttered, so I pulled the flags I had already saved from the challenge among a few others. There are hundreds of pride flags in existence and I’m sorry if I left yours out! The ones I selected were just ones I already had saved and could remember off the top of my head, but know that even if your flag isn’t here, your identity and how you choose to express it is valid no matter what. 💙💙

Secondly, I wanted to thank you all for supporting this challenge and giving me suggestions, but also supporting me. The Rhythm Heaven community is a very loving community that I’m happy to be a part of, and one of the most supportive of LGBTQ+ community members too. I am a trans, gay and asexual man and get a lot of joy having LGBTQ+ headcanons in the media I enjoy hence every RH character getting the gay and asexual hammer from me.
