I honestly believe that c!Dream thinks he went too far in exile and can’t bring himself to admit that he did. Like I really think he believed he was just fucking with c!Tommy for the funsies and it wasn’t as bad because they’ve done this to each other before. Only to see that tower and start absolutely shitting himself over being the reason some teenager kills himself

i dont think it's as much for funsies like he's not blind he knew c!tommy was fucked up but yeah i dont think he thought it was That Big Of A Deal because honestly c!dream's assessment of shit like that is dogshit. i think for a good portion of exile he thinks c!tommy is being a pussy, who cares, he's fine. he's angry! c!dream is angry and c!tommy is a convenient punching bag and it's all a means to an end anyway and who fucking cares about a few shitty pieces of armor and that stupid cow and whatever the fuck. and yeah, i think that the tower absolutely is a bit of an oh shit moment and probably plays into why he switches gears after tommy ends up with technoblade; like, if he was really just invested in getting tommy alone with him in logstedshire again i have no doubt that he could've accomplished that, but he pretty explicitly changes up the plan after tommy runs from exile and the butcher army nearly kills techno and he starts making preparations for doomsday and staged finale.

Will season two!dream realize that csam is a bit toxic?

yes!

especially when sam starts isolating him from his other friends, particularly techno.

dream wants everyone to get along and be friends so that kind of makes him upset. like, he's doing his best to keep everything peaceful, very much early days season one c!dream except now with even more trauma. he does push back against sam when he feels sam is going too far but since sam knows his triggers, he uses that against dream because it makes him more manageable.

and there's going to be a point where techno, as much as he wants dream to be happy and to finally have his peaceful server, can't just sit back and watch dream be abused again. which is basically what's happening, just subtly.

i do think it's kinda funny that in horrible/happy, it's pretty obvious to phil that techno has a bit of a crush on 'daisy'/'rabbit' and after it's revealed to be dream, phil is like 'oof awkward' wondering about techno's crush only for the crush to obviously get more intense.

and now phil has to come to terms with the fact that techno clearly had a crush on dream prior to any of this. when questioned about this later, techno just says 'look i can explain' and then never does.
