Coffee
Nanami Kento x Reader
(Song inspiration: Coffee Breath by Sofia Mills)
“We have one already?” Nanami said.
“But this one is different.”
“Our coffee pot makes a bunch of coffee. Why this?”
“It makes espresso.” Nanami was quiet and put in a bunch of pros and cons in his head. You held his hand and placed your head on his shoulder. “Please! It’ll save money because I won’t have to buy eight dollar lattes!” Nanami sighed. It was a good reason and you convinced him more with puppy dog eyes that he could never resist.
“Alright,” he said. “Go pick one.” He watched your smile grow.
And when you two arrived home, you happily set up the new coffee/espresso maker next to the coffee pot. Nanami watched and smiled. He loves doing anything to make you happy. Once you finished setting up, you sat on the couch next to him and went on the website.
“What are you doing now?” he asked curiously.
“Ordering the espresso. We need to go to the store so I could buy flavored syrups and more milk for my lattes,” you said.
“Can we go tomorrow? We should’ve just gotten it before we arrived home.”
“I forgot.” Nanami shook his head at your sheepish smile. He pulled you in closer and looked at your phone screen.
“That looks good,” he said. “Caramel.” You added it to the cart. “Really? An intense one? I thought you hate bitter.”
“It won’t be after I add all the sugar and milk in it.”
“So when are they coming in?” Nanami asked.
“It says sometime this week,” you said, reading the notification. “That’s really quick. Do you want some coffee, Kento?”
“Sweetheart, it’s four in the afternoon. You really need coffee?”
“I’m gonna need it for the grocery store.” Before you could add coffee grinds to the filter, Nanami grabbed you by the waist. “Kento!”
“Sweetheart, don’t worry about it right now. I promise you’ll get your things before the espresso comes in.” He leaned in and kissed your pouty lips.
“Sorry, I’m just too excited.” Nanami lightly chuckled.
“I know. It’s very endearing on you.” You gave him a bright smile and kissed his lips. “Now, you keep bugging me all week about this new show you found.”
“I totally forgot about that! Kento, it’s so funny!” And you grabbed his wrist, excitedly dragging him to the couch.
You stirred in bed. You swore you could smell coffee in your dream. The idea of your new coffee machine made you so excited. When you woke up, Nanami’s side of the bed was empty. But with the door slightly ajar, you could hear the news from the TV. And the smell of coffee…it smelt different. You got up as you rubbed your tired eyes. When you left the bedroom and headed to the kitchen, you watched Nanami place your coffee mug on the counter. He smiled when he saw you.
“The espresso came, sweetheart,” he announced. Your eyes widened.
“Already?!” you exclaimed. Nanami nodded his head. “Wait, did you make one?” Nanami nodded to your mug.
“I went to the store,” he said. He opened the cabinet, where it used to contain the spices, were various syrup flavors. “I bought one of each. Except the vanilla and caramel. I bought three of each. And I have a project for you.”
“Which is?”
“I bought a new spice rack since the syrups are taking over. And I bought those empty spice containers with the cute labels that you love showing me on Pinterest.” You hugged him tightly and kissed him.
“Thank you, Kento.”
“You’re welcome, sweetheart. Go try your latte.”
“Okay!” You skipped over to your mug. You smiled. He added whipped cream on the top with sprinkles of cinnamon. You took a sip and smiled. “Mmm that’s delicious.” Nanami walked over to you. You took another a sip and before you swallowed it, Nanami passionately kissed you. He pulled away and licked his lips.
“Very tasty,” he said with a wink.

Welcome And Goodbye
Nanami Kento x Reader
(Song: welcome and goodbye by Dream, Ivory)
It’s been three years. Three years since he returned back to Jujutsu High.
Three years without you.
You both had the same mindset after the death of Haibara when you were in your first year as students. Having to risk your life as a jujutsu sorcerer felt too much of a burden, especially for you. You two didn’t realize it until later; how much of an impact Haibara made into your lives until the break up. He was the reason that you and Nanami became a couple for six years. The reason why you two left behind the life of a sorcerer. However, once Nanami returned, his death became the reason of the break up.
Nanami arrived home late again. He hated staying out late for work. It was seldom, but he knew you were going to worry yourself out. He stopped at Jujutsu High after his mission for Shoko to heal his injury.
He found his dinner on the table, wrapped up for him to eat when he arrived home. He looked at the counter filled with papers, textbooks, and your laptop. Guilt crept in him. Quietly, Nanami walked inside the shared bedroom. He found you curled up in a ball, fast asleep. The closer he walked to you, the more he saw the tears that stained your cheeks. He hated it. Especially because he was gone so late, he knew you cried so much with worry.
When he sat down, you felt the bed dip and woke up. You jumped up and wrapped your arms around him. You couldn’t help but cry. You couldn’t help but worry about the possibility of death happening to him. However, you knew the consequences when he decided to return.
“I’m sorry,” he said softly and kissed your forehead.
“I’m just glad you’re home safe.”
He remembered that week all too well. Three years later, it plays over and over in his mind. He remembered you two sitting on the couch, wanting to talk about the relationship and his job. He remembered the tears that you tried to hold but failed to. He remembered you mutually agreeing about breaking up. He remembered it all, detail to detail. The broken look on your face, what you wore, how your hair was. He remembered packing his things. The last time you two made love and kissed before he left to stay with Gojo until he found himself his own place.
He wonders everyday if you were doing okay. But he knows that you are. You still lived in the same apartment. You worked overnights at the hospital. You still attend the same school and you’re at your last year of it. He knows the café you visit frequently because he saw you a year later when he needed something to eat. So every now and then, he goes there to pay for your coffee and snack before you got there.
“I don’t see why you can’t go up to her and just say hi,” Gojo said. Nanami sighed, turning the page of his newspaper.
“She has her new and better life,” Nanami answered. “Besides, as long as I know that she’s okay, that’s all that matters.”
“But you won’t know unless you ask. She’s good at putting up a mask. And you know it. You just read her well.” Nanami was silent. Sometimes, Gojo does have a point.
“Do you talk to her?” he asked curiously.
“Of course! You know, I had her meet my students. She gives them great insight.” Gojo’s smile was wide. Nanami was surprised. He didn’t think you would keep in contact with anyone. But, Gojo was the one who kept tabs on you for him during the recent stage of the break up. It only made sense that you and Gojo would talk to each other now and then.
Nanami made it to the café again. He paid for your future order and sat in the corner, drinking his own cup of tea as he read the newspaper.
He found you walking inside. He enjoys the surprise look on your face when you found your order paid and ready to go again. He couldn’t help but smile to himself. You sat at the opposite side of the café where the windows were. You always love being by the sunlight. You were typing continuously. He could assume that you were typing a paper. Nanami thought of ways to approach you, but stopped himself every time.
The next time he looked up, he found a man sitting down in front of you. His heart sank. You smiled widely at him and laughed at whatever he said. He wanted to leave. He wanted you to be happy, but he didn’t want to see it with another man.
“Hello?” you said, answering a sudden phone call. “Satoru?” The name coming out of your mouth made his ears perk. He couldn’t help but look up just a bit. “I might be a bit late. Later.” He couldn't help but wonder when you called Gojo by his first name, too. Panic settled within him.
You stood up and packed your things, and told the guy that you’re heading out. Nanami watched the man lending you his sweater but you politely declined. The man was persistent and Nanami smiled as you continued to reject the offer. He could safely assume that you weren’t interested.
As you left, Nanami stood up. He folded the newspaper and threw his empty cup in the garbage. He left the café, deciding to go home and not continue to see you what you were going to do with Gojo.
“Hey there, stranger.” The sound of your voice surprised him. He slowly turned around and found you hugging yourself warm and giving him a shy smile. “It’s been a while.”
“Y-Yeah. How did you—“
“It’s not everyday that a tall man with blonde hair comes in the café. You’re not hard to miss, especially with that tie of yours,” you said with a small laugh. Nanami couldn’t help but smile back. There you were, finally in front of him three years later.
“I…I um…” You were the only one who could get him flustered like this. It still amuses him to this day.
“Thank you. For the coffee and snacks,” you said.
“How did you know?”
“I only realized it a few months ago. I noticed you the day it was paid for. I…I didn’t know how to approach you.”
He called out your name. His voice was soft and gentle. Your heart fluttered at the sound of his voice. It was music to your ears. You had to stop yourself from touching him, from holding his hand. You were dying for his touch and kisses. Everyday for the past three years.
You thought about him every day. You were heart broken that day. Nanami Kento wasn’t just your lover but also your best friend. He knew you inside and out. He knew you more than you knew yourself. But after your talk with him three years ago, the worry was too much where you agreed to end the relationship while he didn’t want you to worry. And you regretted it ever since. Because no matter how happy everyone sees that you were, deep down you still weren’t.
Nanami watched you shiver again. Swiftly, he took his suit jacket off and placed it around your shoulders. You felt weak from his smell. You missed him too much.
“You should hurry. Gojo-san is waiting,” he said sadly and quietly.
“Satoru can wait,” you said. He watched the tears form and he watched you hold them in. “You seem to be doing great though. Kicking ass I bet.”
“Yeah, I guess I am,” he replied softly.
“Kento, I—-“ You blushed, you haven’t really said his name in a while too. It felt foreign but it also felt so right. You lost your train of thought. Nanami usually has that effect on you.
“Do you have time then? I-I really missed you and…”
“Follow me.” And so he did. Nanami followed you for a few blocks. He realized that you were leading him to your place. “Want some tea?”
“Please.”
It was the same as it was, except there were no pictures of the two of you around the apartment. The couch was new and even the table yet the layout and arrangement never changed. He went in the kitchen with you. He sat at the high chair at the counter, watching you heat up water in the kettle.
“The truth is, I’ve been training with Satoru for the past two years,” you confessed. “I told him not tell you because I wasn’t ready to see you just yet.” Nanami’s eyes widened.
“So…a-are you coming back?” he asked.
“Somewhat? Not completely,” she answered.
“What made you change your mind?” You knew that he wanted to protect the younger sorcerers. You couldn't say no to him for that reason. Strangely, you missed the action. You missed helping people in need. It was why you decided to go into the healthcare field but sometimes, it just wasn't the same.
“I miss helping people,” you answered. “But I also miss the action. That was fun.”
“What about school? You worked hard.”
“I’ll still do it,” you said. “I still don’t want to be a sorcerer forever.” Nanami nodded. He understood. It was the same for him.
“Itadori-kun has a lot of potential,” Nanami said. You nodded.
“A lot of growth is needed for him. But Satoru has promising students."
“So, you train and partake in missions?”
“No missions. Just training and teaching whenever I can.”
“I never noticed you.”
“I haven’t either.”
It was quiet again for the two of you. You went back and turned the stove off. You poured hot water in two tea cups and gave each other black tea bags. Nanami quietly thanked you and blew at the hot liquids.
You texted Gojo. You were going to cancel the training session. All he did was text you good luck. You feel like you know Gojo well enough that he knows that you’re with Nanami.
You vented to Gojo a lot. And he’ll tell you the same thing every time. To go and talk to him. You had it all planned out today. But the moment you stood in front of him, everything you planned for was gone. So for a while, the two of you drank your tea with content silence until it was prolonged and awkward. Nanami looked at the time and stood up from his seat.
“I should head back,” he said. You looked at the time. It was already eight. And you knew Nanami. It was almost time for him to get ready for bed.
“R-Right,” you said, disappointment evident in your voice and it didn’t go unnoticed by him. He slowly got ready to go. By the time he was at the door, the two of you two remained silent. Both of you wanting to tell each other to stay.
“I’ll see you around,” he said and turned around. He immediately felt you grab his wrist. He turned around and the moment he saw your tears, he pulled you into his arms.
“I missed you too, Kento,” you said, replying to his statement from the café. “I missed you so much. I regret it. I never should’ve left. I should’ve tried harder and—“ His grip on you tightened.
“I never should’ve brought it up,” he said. “I never…I should’ve…fuck. I missed you so much.”
The two of you remained like that for a while, with you in his arms and his face buried in the crook of your neck. When he pulled away to look at you, he cupped your face and used his thumbs to wipe your tears away. You couldn’t help but smile from his comfort. Nanami smiled back and rested his forehead on yours. You two took in the comfort that was missed for the past few years.
“I never stopped loving you,” he confessed.
“I love you too, Kento. So, so much.”
He captured your lips. He closed the door and lifted you up. You wrapped your arms around his neck and legs around his waist. Nanami carried you to your bedroom. Gently, he laid you down, lips still glued to each other. He gently bit your lower lip and caressed the side of your body. You softly moaned at his touch. You loosened his tie and unbuttoned shirt. Nanami was the first to pull away. He admired your flushed and breathless look. He smiled softly and gave you soft kisses all over your face.
“Have you ever…was there ever anyone else?” he asked curiously. You shook your head.
“Just you Kento. How about you?” Your answer made his smile wider. He captured your lips again before replying the same answer you gave him. And the two of you stayed up together, catching up on the three years missing each other.
The sunlight shining through the thin curtains stirred you awake. Memories of last night flooded your mind and you blushed as you turned around. Next to you was Nanami. You smiled, missing his serene and sleepy face in the mornings. You couldn’t help but softly brush his hair back. Nanami smiled and slowly opened his eyes.
“Good morning, darling,” he greeted, voice hoarse and tired.
“Good morning.”
“Come here.” He opened his arms and you eagerly went to him. Nanami gave you soft kisses on your shoulders, up to your neck, then to your lips. You shuddered and sighed in content. “After last night, I'm not leaving you ever again."
“I wouldn’t let you,” you said.
“Do you have class?” he asked curiously. You nodded and told him that it started in a couple of hours. “I’ll drive you. Go get ready then we could go to my place and I can do the same.” You got up out of bed and walked to your closet. You pulled out clothes, but what surprised him were also clothes that he left at your place.
“They were in the laundry. I couldn't throw them away,” you said. “We can spend more time together before we go now.” Nanami got up and hugged you.
Students couldn’t help but stare at the two of you, especially at Nanami. Nanami carried your bag and held your hand. You guided him to the building, excitedly telling him about your semesters in school.
“What are your plans for today?” he asked.
“This is my only lecture, but I go to lab and practice skills for about an hour. Then the library to study. If Satoru calls me, I might train instead. I have work tonight, too.” You pouted at the idea of work. You hated working and going to school. It was tiring, especially when you train with Gojo. Now being back with Nanami, you were contemplating on calling out tonight. It has been a while.
“Call me. I might be able to pick you up," Nanami offered. “I’m going on a mission with Itadori-kun, but it shouldn’t take too long.”
“Text me when you get to the place and let me know when you’re done?”
“Of course, love.” He walked you all the way to your classroom. He gave you back your backpack and pulled his wallet out to hand you his credit card.
“Wait, Kento—“
“When you need coffee and food,” he said. “I know you need the coffee.” When you didn’t take the card, he sighed and took your hand and placed it there. “Let me take care of you again. I miss it.” You couldn’t help but smile.
“Okay,” you said happily. “I’ll see you later.”
“I love you, darling.” Nanami gave you a soft kiss.
“I love you, too.”

Our Love Story
Nanami Kento x Reader
Part 7: Don’t Lift A Finger, Love
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6
(Song Inspiration: Love Someone by Jason Mraz)
Nanami decided to go to your place after his shift. He was glad that he was able to leave early. He has been very grateful to Gojo and Geto since they offer to finish missions for him so he can return to you on time.
You and Nanami go back and forth to each other’s places. It started off slow, keeping a toothbrush in each other’s places after you fell asleep at his apartment after studying one night. He even bought you clothes, facial and specific hair products, toiletries, and even make up to keep at his place. And when Nanami finished his shift, he slowly brought his things over to keep at yours.
He did his normal thing when he came back. Shoes were off, blunt sword against the wall, glasses on the table, sleeves rolled up halfway, top buttons undone, and tie hanging loosely around his neck. He found you in your kitchen, studying intensely for your final.
You were busy this past month. In a few days, you will take your final and your ceremony was a couple of weeks later. You’ve been going to reviews for your NCLEX and tutoring for your sessions. Along with that, you still worked your full time hours at the hospital. He made sure he came back home to you. He made sure you ate, either bringing home food or cooking something he planned for you throughout the day. He did more than you needed him to do. But you knew that he would be stubborn to listen to you when you were swamped to take care of yourself. You always tell them you were alright before he starts doing what he was going to do anyway. You were slowly getting used to him doing anything and everything for you.
“Sweetheart?” You didn’t react. And when he walked closer to you, he could hear the music blasting from your head phones. He pulled it them off your head, making you jump. When you turned around, you smiled widely.
“Kento-kun! Did you just get back?” you asked. Nanami nodded. “How was work?”
“Good,” he answered and took a seat next to you. “Gojo-san and Geto-san took over my last mission.”
“They’re too good to you,” you said and kissed his lips.
“Are you working tonight?” he asked. You shook your head.
“I took vacation for two weeks.” Nanami smiled and you can see that he was relieved. He leaned in and kissed your forehead tenderly.
“Good,” he said. “You have been nonstop. As much as I want you to take a break, I love that your hard work is paying off. I’m so proud of you, sweetheart.” You just want to cry happily from his words.
“You really mean it?” you asked. Nanami nodded. “Okay, let me be for a bit. I’m almost done with these practice questions.”
“Okay, my love. I’ll make us dinner.”
He kissed your lips, yet your body felt frozen. You couldn’t help but let his new pet name for you repeat in your head. It was usually sweetheart, darling, or sometimes dear. Never had he said love. As you placed your headphones back on, you couldn’t help but wonder if there was more meaning to the name. It almost made it hard for you to concentrate.
You couldn’t stop smiling as you were studying. Nanami couldn’t help but do the same thing whenever he looked up at you. He feels at peace when you smile. Your smile is his favorite sight.
“Break time!”
“Food is almost done. I made katsudon,” he said. Your mouth watered. You’ve been craving it for a while now. You put your school supplies away in your living room. You entered the kitchen and started to quickly wash the dishes, but when Nanami saw what you were doing, he immediately wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you away. You laughed. “Do not lift a finger, my love. I want you to relax.”
You blushed as he brought you to the chair. You sat down and watched him prepare the dish. You watched his back as he was by the stove finishing dinner. You watched him turn on the electric kettle and setting up two tea cups and two teabags. You watched him set up two bowls and he walked over to you with a smile. The smell of dinner made your stomach rumble.
“Thank you, Kento-kun! You are seriously the best.”
“Anything for my girl,” he said and turned back around to grab the two tea cups. You patiently waited for him. Once he sat down, the two of you grabbed your chopsticks and ate. “Is it good, love?” You nodded.
“It’s amazing,” you said. “You make the best meals.”
“Is it missing anything?” he asked curiously. He takes your criticisms seriously. He wanted to make the meals perfect just for you.
“Not this one,” you said. “Maybe more onions but I also loooove onions with this dish.” Nanami took a mental note of it for next time. You looked at him. “But you don’t have to.”
“I want you to have the best,” he said. Your heart wanted to leap out of your chest.
“I love you,” you said.
You and Nanami froze. You quickly turned back around and took a sip of your tea. Nanami watched you, letting those three words sink in. He couldn’t help but smile. He placed his hand on your thigh which got you to turn around and look at him. Nanami stood up and cupped your face.
“I love you too, sweetheart.” You smiled widely. You grabbed his tie and pulled him in to kiss him. The kiss was long, tongues battling each other, with Nanami gently nibbling and sucking on your bottom lip. Once he heard your soft moan, he pulled away. He gazed at your dazed and soft eyes before kissing your forehead. “I love you so much.”
After dinner was finished, Nanami quickly took the bowls to the sink before you could clean up. He held your hand and lead you to the couch, telling you to relax.
“I’m not disabled,” you said, slightly teasingly. Nanami kissed your forehead.
“I know. I just don’t want you to lift a finger tonight,” he said, face stoic yet voice so soft it makes your heart leap with joy.
“Then in that case, I will shower and get ready for the night.” Nanami let out a small smile and kissed your lips. “You’re very kissy tonight.”
“You’re just very kissable,” he said. “Go shower. I’ll go right after you, love.” You nodded, skipping your way to the bathroom.
He found you in bed, laptop on your lap and your iPad filled with notes in your hand. He awed at the sight while leaning against the doorway after his shower. His towel remained around his waist. You looked up and turned to look at him. Your eyes widened and you blushed as you turned your attention back to your computer.
“Studying hard again?” he asked. You gave him a high-pitched hum in response. Nanami picked out his clothes and walked back to the bathroom to change. Your hand was on your racing heart. You let dirty thoughts consume your mind.
“Love, do you want tea?” he asked.
“I’m good for now,” you answered flustered. Nanami nodded and joined you in bed. He took his book from the nightstand and started reading. “So…what is it that you love about me?” Nanami placed a book mark in his book and closed it, putting it back on the night table.
“You being you,” he answered nonchalantly. He watched you react irritably with his reaction. He quietly chuckled to himself before pulling you closer to him, your laptop slipping off your lap and falling to the side of the bed.
“Now is not the time to be cliche with that short answer,” you said with pouty lips. Nanami kissed the top of your head.
"You're smart and beautiful. You prefer to be independent and I love that you let me in your life and allow me to help you. Unlike me, you like to go with the flow of things. You don't exactly plan things out and usually I hate that, but I love it with you. I never planned to keep you close in my life. I was just going to keep it at that after you bought me coffee and bread.”
“I honestly thought the same thing. Then you called me. Checked up on me. Why’d you do that?” Nanami shrugged.
“I felt like I had to. I knew I didn’t have to. With me being a sorcerer, I couldn’t let you in my life. But since I kept letting you in, I at least had to give you an option, right?” You nodded. “You make me happy. When I see you, I feel the tiredness go away the moment I see you smile. When I see you work hard, it makes me want to become a better sorcerer, that way I can protect you. I love everything about you.” You smiled. You held his hand tightly and rested your head on his shoulder.
“You don’t find me like I’m some kind of child right?”
“Not at all. Why? You think a five year age gap is too much?”
“I-I was just curious.” Nanami chuckled and kissed the top of your head.
“Your turn.”
“You’re a serious and stoic man with the biggest heart in the world,” you said. “When I talk to Gojo-san and Geto-san, they love talking about you to me. You’re so caring to the young sorcerers. You make me proud that you are one. You get to be their mentor and they get to fight in battle like you. And I know I never seen you fight, but I don’t have to see to know that you’re one of the best.” Nanami felt a burst of happiness when you said that. “And I love that you’re true to word and actions. You’re honest and loyal. Everything about you is just amazing.” You couldn’t keep his eyes off of him. Something about them sparkled. Nanami rested his forehead on yours, gently caressing your one cheek.
“Thank you,” he said and kissed you softly.

Dancing In The Kitchen
Nanami Kento x Reader
Tumblr media
(Song Inspiration: Dancing in the Kitchen by Zachary Knowles)
Two months passed since you and Nanami became a couple. When both of your schedules call for it, the two of you would typically go out to eat and walk around Tokyo. He would remain close to you, hand in hand, with you staying away from the busy roads.
Nanami cherishes these moments. He never thought he would develop feelings for a non-sorcerer nor did he think you would accept the fact that he is one. You were very understanding with his job. Not once did you get upset over cancelled dates or late meetings. You always told him to stay safe after date cancellations. You would smile happily when you see him during the late meetings.
This time, the two of you were off for the evening. You suggested dinner and he easily agreed. Dinner at a restaurant is simple. It was just deciding where to go that was typically difficult. Mostly because of you but he figured out a way to get an answer from you quickly.
“Actually, I was wondering if you would like to come over,” you suggested shyly as you fiddled with your fingers. Nanami picked you up from your place as you wanted to hangout with your close friend, Gojo. Yes. That’s how you two met.
“I wouldn’t mind,” he said. “But I think you should come to my place first.” You shook your head.
“I planned this out over and over in my head this morning. Please? I even got bread being made, Kento-kun!” Nanami blushed, his grip on the steering wheel tightening. You were being cute and he loves grabbing your face and kissing you when you do that.
“Okay.”
“Yay!” He remembered Gojo mentioning they were friends since childhood. Now he sees it, but he loves it better on you. Your playfulness and cuteness.
“Oi! Nanami!” Gojo called. Nanami entered the office after driving you home. You wanted to clean up and prepare for dinner. “What do you plan to do when you go to her apartment?”
“Eat dinner,” Nanami answered. “Talk. Our usual stuff.” Gojo didn’t seem convinced as he circled the tall blonde male. Nanami grew impatient and just wanted to start on his reports so he can leave sooner.
“I’ll kill you if you hurt her,” he said.
“So you said, every week,” Nanami replied. Gojo then smiled and placed an arm around his shoulders.
“Alright alright, I’ll stop,” he said. “I did play Cupid on you guys. Bring over wine. She’s likes—-“
“Sweet white wine. If red, she doesn’t want it too sweet nor dry.”
“Bring her flowers too! Be romantic!”
“I already ordered a bouquet that I’ll pick up after work. Quit interrogating me.”
“I want what’s best for her!”
“I have chocolate on my desk for her.”
“That’s better.” Nanami sighed. The only downside was being around Gojo constantly who constantly threatens him if you got hurt. However, you always knew how to control Gojo. Or Gojo just favors listening to you.
Nanami was pretty sure he was speeding all the way to your place. He had to make a U-turn or two because he forgot about the flowers and wine. You texted him earlier that you would leave the front door unlocked for him. He shook his head. When he told you not to, he’s praying that you really did lock it.
Nope.
He entered inside your home. He hung his jacket up the coat rack by him and removed his shoes. His blunt sword was leaning against the wall and he decided to loosen his tie and unbutton the first few buttons of his shirt and the cuffs of his sleeves.
He could hear music playing from the kitchen. The closer he got, the more he could hear you hum. And once he entered the kitchen, he leaned against the open frame with crossed arms and smiled to see you swaying in a dance. He decided not to say anything. He wonders how long it will take you to realize that he arrived.
He was patient. It’s been 10 minutes, so he he quietly placed your flowers, wine, and chocolate on the table and walked closer to you.
“Hey there, beautiful,” he said softly after his touch made you jump. He wrapped his arms around you from behind and swayed side to side with you.
“When did you get here, Kento-kun?” you asked curiously.
“About ten minutes ago.” He turned you around and held your hands. He placed your arms around his neck while his arms remained around your waist. You smiled and stood on your toes as the two of you swayed to the music. “You usually sing and dance when you cook?”
“It calms the nerves,” you confessed.
“Don’t stop doing it. I like dancing with you.” You smiled. You didn’t know much time passed but your eyes widened when you came back to reality.
“The food!” you exclaimed. He caught the quick whiff of something burning. Immediately you turned the stove off and sighed. “Ummm can we order in?”
“Yes, my darling.”

Invisible String
Nanami Kento x Reader
(Song Inspiration: Invisible String by Taylor Swift)
Nanami Kento went on with his day. It went from his office life and back home. He would stay a few hours later to earn extra money. Only for him to start his day all over for him.
He dreaded it. He hated his normal life. He hated living in this monotonous cycle of work and life. It was shitty.
“Excuse me?” Nanami looked up. You stood there right in front of him with your notebook, folders, and books in your arms. It seems as if papers were going to fall out but you held them tightly against your chest. Your backpack was falling off your shoulder. You looked like you were in a rush. “Is this seat taken?” He looked at the empty seat next to him. He shook his head and moved over for you to sit down. “Thank you so much!”
“You’re welcome,” he said softly. He watched your cheeks glow with a faint pink color. He couldn’t help but let out a small smile. He looked at the time. It has been a while since he left work on time. Definitely the highlight of today.
And within that week, he made sure to clock out at the same time. He fast walked to the bus stop, patiently waited, and hoped that you would be there too. To his luck, he was able to obtain the same seats at the back of the bus. He placed his briefcase on the empty seat. After two stops, he saw you outside. The same papers, folders, and books with your backpack falling off your shoulder.
When you entered the bus, you recognized the blonde man in the striped suit and red tie. You smiled. His generosity for the past week made your day everyday after being yelled at constantly by your superiors. You were happy that someone, who seemed as exhausted as you were, was so soft and kind.
“Is the seat taken?” you asked curiously like you had been throughout the week. Nanami shook his head with a small smile. He picked up his briefcase and scooted over by the window. You thanked him happily and sat down. He watched you organize your papers. “You don’t mind holding this?” Nanami shook his head and held the pile of papers you pulled out of your bag. He took a glance at the papers.
“Intern designer?” he asked. He watched you nod in response.
“It’s hell over there,” you said. “I just need to be patient because it’ll get better. At least I’d hope so. How about you? You look like you’re not enjoying life.” Nanami shrugged.
“It’s okay,” he answered.
“Fair enough.” You finally made your things neat. You took the papers from Nanami’s hand and thanked him again. “This is my stop. I’ll see you around.” And you left, before Nanami could ask what your name was. ‘Next time.’ He pulled out his phone, staring at the one contact he never thought of calling.
Gojo Satorou.
He hasn’t been able to run into you for about a month. Assistant managers would drive him to the location of his missions. He would take a different bus route from before. None of them leading to you. He wondered if you were doing well. If you were still disorganized whenever you entered the bus. If you still fix them up while waiting for your stop. If you still ran away on time; away from the hell you had mentioned.
It was past 6. He decided to walk around the city. He was feeling a little nostalgic thinking about the little moments with you.
“Oh! It’s you!” Nanami’s eyes widened. There you were. You wore a brown corduroy dress with a beige turtle neck underneath. You wore stockings to keep your legs warm and brown boots and a brown beanie to match the outfit. Instead of your large and gray backpack that likes to fall off your shoulders, you carried a large sand colored purse. “New uniform?” Nanami smiled a small smile as he removed his glasses. Never would he have thought he would bump into you.
“You have a more clean look,” he said with a small smirk. You blushed.
“Look I made big changes in life,” you said. “And it’s been working out great for me this month.” Nanami smiled.
“Are you free right now?” he asked.
“I’m about to have a lonesome date with myself for dinner,” you answered. “You’re welcome to join.” And he followed you, passing a few stores until you turned at a small ramen shop.
“I made big changes as well,” Nanami said. You were interested and leaned in closer to hear more. “I decided to go back to teaching.”
“That’s amazing! You do seem better….uhh…” you started laughing, realizing that you never got his name. You told him your name.
“Nanami Kento,” he said.
“Well Nanami-san, I’m glad you’re doing something that is making you happier.”
“It’s something that has more meaning in my life and I’m more useful in the profession. What about you?”
“I quit,” you said. “After our last meeting, I contemplated about my life. So I quit the next day and I’m designing and selling my own products.” Nanami chuckled.
“I did the same thing.” You lightly laughed with him. Even returning back as a sorcerer and training young ones felt like a monotonous lifestyle, but it brought him purpose. He thought that if maybe your relationship with him blossoms, he will tell you everything about his life. Because so far, you’ve been the one who has brighten it up; the reason that his life became purposeful. He needed to know you more. “Are you free tomorrow?”
“I’ll be free whenever you are,” you answered. Nanami smiled. He pulled out his cell phone and you mirrored him, and the two of you exchanged numbers.
“I’ll call you.”
You nodded happily, excited to have the opportunity to know more about him. Nanami hopes that you’ll stick around. You gave him purpose and meeting you again, he believed fate wanted him to keep his purposeful life.

Just Let Me Love You
Nanami Kento x Reader
(Song Inspiration: Daddy Issues Remix by The Neighborhood, Syd)
Some suggestive between you and Nanami.
Some cursing, mention of suicide.
You couldn’t stop thinking about him. You questioned why you got yourself involved with him in the first place. Was it because of his soft, blonde hair? The intense look in his brown eyes? Or maybe his height and built physique? And the voice? His deep voice just sends shivers down your spine. And his soft touch? It made your skin tingle.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” you cursed quietly to yourself on your way home from work.
He was all you ever think about all night at work. It was unlike you to mentally be in another world at work. But him? He got you in a different way that you can’t explain. You hated it. It was new and you didn’t like the unknown.
“You’re back on time again.” You wondered if it was your imagination when you opened the door to your apartment. But seeing him next to you with his beige suit, orange-black spotted tie, and blue button up made you realize that you weren’t in your own world. He was really there, about to leave for work.
“You’re leaving early,” you said. Nanami smirked.
“Trying to avoid overtime hours,” he said.
“I’d think that you’re following me around,” you said back, hiding the nerves in your voice. “This is being common for a while now, Kento.” Nanami shrugged and leaned in closer to you.
“Maybe it’s because I just like seeing you before I leave for a long day of work,” he said softly by your ear. You felt the shivers, but this time, you felt your body shake from his warm breath. His hand reached up to your face and he stroked his fingers down gently on your cheek. “I missed you.”
“I can’t say the same myself,” you said, your voice slightly trembling. You mentally cursed to yourself. Nanami chuckled softly.
“I’ll pretend that you don’t mean that, sweetheart,” he said.
“I have a name,” you said sternly. The stern tone was automatic. It made you wince. But Nanami stood there, unaffected.
“I know,” he said. “But, it’s very fitting for you. Maybe darling? How about dear? Love?
“Sweetheart’s fine,” you said in slight defeat. You truthfully enjoy it. But you didn’t want to admit it to him. Nanami chuckled as his lips trailed close yours.
“I’ll see you later then, sweetheart,” he said softly and slightly seductively. You lost control and pulled his tie to crash his lips to yours. You pulled him inside, before eagerly removing his jacket off his shoulders.
You woke up to the sunlight shining through your curtains. You groaned, feeling soar in between your legs. When you opened your eyes, you found a small note on your nightstand.
I knew you missed me, sweetheart. Sleep well.
Kento.
You groaned, your face buried in your pillow. You know you give in too easily. It wasn’t often, but you let Nanami take you that easily to bed. And he’s the only one who knows what you needed in bed. He knew how to arouse you in ways you didn’t think could arouse you.
You shook your head. You don’t want to admit your feelings. Even when you first met him a year ago, you didn’t want to admit it. But he stayed consistent. Always greeting you when the two of you passed each other. Always offering to help you when you were carrying groceries, even if it’s just one small bag. Always throwing in sweet compliments that you respond back in a negative way but still blush and secretly feel good about.
You heard your cell phone go off with a text notification. You covered your body with your silk robe and walked over to the kitchen counter where the thrown scrubs were now neatly folded on to the chair and your phone on the counter.
Father: Spare me some money?
You scoffed, immediately deleting the text message. The only time he would contact you. And you kept your word years ago to ignore him.
Anger was building up. You hoped a cold shower would help. But after the shower, you still felt the irritation in the pit of your stomach. The way he hurt your mother emotionally as he constantly saw other women. But you also hated how she stayed. So many opportunities to leave, but never did. And you could’ve leave her even though she left you.
“Bastard!” You slammed your fist against the counter. A few seconds later, a knock on your door was heard. You quietly gasped to see Nanami. You can see the concern and worry in his eyes. You couldn’t tell if you hated that look. Almost like the way he made you feel. You hated it too.
“You alright?” he asked. You checked the time on your phone.
“You’re early,” you said, avoiding his question. Nanami gave you a soft smile.
“I left early after our rendezvous so I can leave early,” he replied. He leaned in and gave you a soft kiss on the forehead. It was quick yet you can feel the warmth lingering. “But, are you alright?”
“Yeah,” you answered curtly. He could see how tense your body is. Your expression was too serious. Your voice sounded a bit cold. So in response, he nodded.
“I’m ordering take out,” he said. “You want?” You shook your head.
“Thank you, though.”
“It’s sushi.” You couldn’t help but let out a breathy laugh.
“How cruel to use my weakness against me, Kento,” you said teasingly. He lightly laughed with you, his hand rubbing the back of his head and neck.
“Well, I’m going to wash up before I order. If you’re not over in 20 minutes, I’m ordering without you. My door will be open for you. See you later, sweetheart.”
Another forehead kiss before he left. You watched him walk further down the hallway before turning to his door. He didn’t look back, and you took the opportunity to adore him until he entered inside and closed the door.
Don’t go. Do not.
But you’re not one to listen to your advice as you walked inside his apartment in a pair of shorts, long sleeves, socks, and slides. Nanami smiled and greeted you on the couch where he looked over at the menu. You took your shoes off and took a seat next to him, leaning in closer to him so you could read the menu. Your head rested on his shoulder as you did.
“I want those two rolls,” you said. “I’ll pay you back tomorrow.”
“It’s on me,” he said with a smile. “Appetizer?” You softly smiled.
“Dumplings. And I’m still paying you back.”
“Money doesn’t have to be the only way to pay me back, sweetheart,” he mentioned.
“I can’t pay you back with sex.” Nanami lightly laughed.
“I’ll let you know what you can do for me, sweetheart.”
His hand rested on your thigh as he made the phone call. Your head remained on his shoulder. Your eyes were closed, enjoying the sound of his voice. All the irritation you felt simmered away. You sighed with relief and let your arms wrap around his.
Just for tonight.
You kept your word. Back to being “friendly” and yet sleeping together when the opportunity occurs. You tried to keep your emotions in check. You tried to lock it away and never officiate anything with Nanami. But the moment you see him, you were willing to unlock those emotions but use sex to make up for it.
You were off from work for a week. Despite the torture of working several 12-hour shifts in a row, it felt rewarding. A long week off is what you needed. Music played in the background in your apartment. You showered once you woke up, wearing a pair of shorts and a grey crew neck. You suddenly decided that it was time to deep clean.
It took you a good twenty minutes to create the perfect playlist for your cleaning mood. And then another fifteen minutes to gather your cleaning supplies. And why not, you wasted another ten minutes figuring out where to clean first.
Living room!
The sudden knock on your door made you jump. You paused and looked at the time. Early for Nanami to arrive home, but he is the only one that comes over.
“Coming!” you yelled and put everything down. You washed your hands before opening the door. Your eyes widened at the sight of your father. Your heart raced. Your palms got sweaty. Your body trembled.
“You little shit,” he cursed irritably.
“H-How did you find me?” you asked with fear and hesitation.
“I have my ways,” he mumbled darkly. “Too busy fucking with guys to even give me your time of day?”
He hit a switch, and the fear suddenly left. Memories of how he mistreated your mother. Memories of how he mistreated you. You felt your anger boiling in the pit of your stomach. How you wanted to yell at him but didn’t want to cause a scene. How you wanted to slam the door at his face but felt it wouldn’t do justice for you.
“You were too busy fucking with other women while my mother was suffering because of you. You yell and hit me when I make small mistakes or misheard you. Your cheating made my mother depressed that she overdosed and killed herself. Do you even deserve my time of day?” you said calmly, almost too calm. You were surprise yourself. Not even the hard slap to the face that came after surprised you.
“You little—what the hell?!” He looked up to see Nanami coldly stare at him while Nanami held his wrist tightly. Nanami towered over him that made your father cower.
“I called the cops,” Nanami said when he looked at you. You looked up, appearing stoic as if the whole situation didn’t bother you. The sound of the elevator was heard and Nanami turned and smirked. “Perfect timing.”
And you watched your father trying to escape the policemen’s grasp. He yelled and cursed at you. It was nothing new. You grew numb to it.
And it somehow made Nanami worry. The two of you stood there in silence. He didn’t know what to do nor say. It felt like forever, but eventually you looked up at him. Your expression soft like it usually is.
“How long were you standing there?” you asked curiously while gesturing him to come inside. Nanami walked inside and took his shoes off before walking towards the couch.
“When you asked him how he found you,” he answered. “That’s when I called the cops.” You sat down next to him. You kept your distance, the two of you sitting on the opposite ends of the couch. “Is that why you keep a certain boundary from me? Abusive father? You, a little girl, that doesn’t know what it’s like to have one?” You swallowed a large lump in your throat and gave him a smile that almost irritated him.
“It’s like you know me so well, Kento,” you replied. But as quick as you smiled, you frowned. “And my mother got too depressed to pay attention to me. I took my turn to protect her until she died. Once she did, I left. This is my sixth apartment.” His eyes widened in shock.
“He kept searching for you for that long?”
“He’s an alcoholic. He ended up using women for money,” you said. “And he knows I have money. I used to give him money for the first year. But why should I? Right?”
“Right.” It was silent again.
“How was work?” You couldn’t stand the silence. It only made you assume that Nanami pities you. It was the last thing you wanted from him. Because you were okay.
I’m okay. I’m okay.
“Busy,” he answered.
“Mentoring? Or missions?” Nanami chuckled. Despite your lack of cursed energy, you find his job to be the most normal thing ever. You always thought it was a cool job. Despite how scary it can be.
“Both,” he answered with a soft smiled.
You appreciate Nanami. He spends time with you as if that day never happened, despite the slight protectiveness you noticed from him. But it never bothered you. You quickly grew accustomed to it.
And right now, the two of you lied naked in his bed. He held you tightly, your back pressed against his strong chest. You had a rough night at work. He decided to comfort you when he came back from work. You never asked for it, but you let him.
“When I was fifteen, my father cheated on my mother and divorced her,” Nanami said. “He wasn’t the best father but he wasn’t a bad one. I took care of my mother and I swore to myself that I need to love and protect the ones I love.”
“Where is she now?” you asked. You could feel your heart race and you wonder if he could feel your racing heart. Nanami softly kissed your bare shoulder.
“She is back in Denmark with her new husband,” he answered. Nanami smiled.
“Wow, new husband,” you said with a small smile on your face. “She must be so happy.”
“She is. The happiest she has ever been.” You turned around to face him.
“You’re implying something, Kento,” you said. Nanami softly chuckled and kissed your forehead.
“You’re too observant, sweetheart,” he said.
“You’re too obvious, darling,” you replied teasingly. “Why me?” You were suddenly serious. You were too vulnerable right now. He can see it in your eyes and hear it in your voice.
“I just know, sweetheart,” he answered. “I couldn’t pull away when I first saw you. You wore your navy blue scrubs and you unlocked your door tiredly. And even though you were tired, you greeted me as cheerfully as you could. Your hair messy in a bun, uniform wrinkled, eyes tired yet bright. You were so beautiful.”
“Sweet talker,” you mumbled, hiding your face in his chest.
“You know I don’t lie.”
“I know that.” It was quiet for a brief moment.
“I never felt this spark before,” he said. “And I know that you feel the same. And I didn’t want to push it and just let you take the lead. Even if I was just used for sex.” You pushed yourself up and leaned against your arm. Nanami did the same, his elbow on the mattress while his head rested on his palm. You gave him a puzzled look. “You’re the most guarded woman I have ever met. You don’t think I don’t see your internal conflict?”
“It’s that obvious?” Nanami nodded. He reached out to caress your cheek.
“When you’re ready to progress our relationship, I’ll be here,” he said softly. Your heart raced. You swallowed another lump in your throat as you stared at him wide eyed.
“I-I need to go,” you whispered and quickly stood up and got dressed. Nanami watched you scrambled around the bedroom. And without a word, you left.
You quickly entered inside your dark apartment. When you closed the door, you slid down to the floor and hugged your knees tightly to your chest. You let your tears fall. Somehow, it was too overwhelming for you.
Nanami’s confession.
And you knew you liked him back. Probably even more. The more you were accepting your feelings towards him, you became fearful. Fearing that he will up and leave you. Fearing that you could end up like your own mother. The fear that made you want to stay alone but can’t because of Nanami Kento.
You breathed heavily in your sobs. You placed your hand on your chest. You felt panicked.
One…two…three…one…two…three…
One more deep breath and you quietly sat there. You took in the silence and the darkness. You focused on your breathing. You felt your body slightly relaxing.
“Sweetheart?”
You jumped. You weren’t that ready to confront him. You wiped your tears away and turned on the lights before opening the door. Nanami immediately kissed you. An urgent yet passionate kiss that was different from the previous shared ones.
Just let him. Just do it.
Your body relaxed and you melted in the kiss. One of the best feelings you felt in a long time. You wrapped your arms around his neck as you stood on your toes. Nanami pulled away and let himself inside your apartment.
“I want you,” you said. “Not just for sex.” You mumbled the last statement and avoided eye contact. You took a deep breath.
One…two…three…one…two…three…
“You’re right. You were right about everything. I’m just scared. Scared that you’ll leave me. I’m scared that I’ll end up like my mother so if I stay alone, I won’t be like her. I keep my feelings bottled up. But whenever I’m with you, I want to tell you I want more. But I use sex to stop myself to make anything more intimate. Everything’s so overwhelming, Kento.” You felt smaller than ever as you stood close to him. Nanami gently cupped your face so you would stop avoiding his eyes. When you looked at him, all you could see was his soft smile and happiness in his eyes.
“We’ll make things work,” he said. “I will stay patient with you. Everything that I do now won’t change. I can do more for you. All I need you to do is to let me in. I’m not going to push you unless I need to.” You let your tears escape your eyes that Nanami immediately wiped them away with his thumbs. You nodded, the lump in your throat preventing you from speaking. Nanami leaned in and kissed your forehead.
“Promise? Don’t give up on me,” you said so quietly. If he wasn’t so close, he wouldn’t have heard you. Nanami softly kissed your lips.
“I promise sweetheart,” he said. “Now, would you like me to set up a hot bath for you?” You couldn’t help but chuckle. You wiped the rest of your tears away and nodded.
“Will you join me?”
“Of course sweetheart. Whatever you want to do, we’ll do. Okay?” And you nodded. You held his hand to lead him to the bathroom but you immediately stopped.
“Kento?” Nanami looked at you curiously. Your heart raced. You wanted to say more. But you were at lost for words that you hugged him tightly. Nanami enveloped his arms around you. You took in a deep breath, feeling everything you thought you never could feel.
Comfort. Safe. Love.
I am okay.

I Hate Baking, But You Love Bread
Nanami Kento x Reader
(Song Inspiration: Still Into You by Paramore)
You hummed to the music happily as you kneaded the bread. You heard the door unlock and Gojo happily walked inside.
“Big brother has arrived!” Gojo exclaimed happily. He laughed when he saw flour all over the counter, arms, apron, and face. “What the hell?” You gave him a look of annoyance.
“Shut up,” you said.
“But you’re a legit mess,” Gojo said in between chuckles. “Aww man! I’m not gonna let you live it down.” Gojo started to take pictures on his phone that made you cover your face with some embarrassment.
“That’s fine,” you said, bottom lip jutted out into a pout. “At least Kento-kun will appreciate my nonexistent baking skills.”
“I knew you had a reason. How long have you two been together anyway?”
“Ten years. Eleven in two months,” you answered as you focused on kneading the dough.
“And you’re just baking bread?”
“He has recently developed a new obsession with bread. So I wanted to surprise him,” you said happily.
“But you hate baking.”
“But I also love Kento,” you said proudly. Gojo chuckled and ruffled your hair.
“How’s it like?” Gojo asked curiously when he took a seat at the island counter where you were kneading the bread. “How is it like to be with someone for that long? How do you know that you still love him?” You smiled.
“Kento-kun has never changed his chivalrous ways,” you said. “He makes sure that I don't get too worried when he's on missions. That was one of our bad fights before and he puts in so much effort on it. Kento-kun stays consistent and that is something that I love so much about him.” You separated and placed the dough in a baguette pan. You put it in the oven and started the timer.
“Does he still gives you butterflies?” You nodded happily, your cheeks turning a light pink color.
“Do you two still argue?”
“You know that we do. I call you when we do.” Gojo chuckled.
“Very true. When is lover boy coming back from his mission anyway?” On cue, the door opened and the two of you stared at the front door.
“Gojo-san, what are you doing here?” Nanami asked once he entered inside.
“Kento-kun!!” you exclaimed happily and ran over to hug him. Nanami lightly laughed and hugged you.
“You’re covered in flour,” he said surprisingly. He chuckled as he wiped the flour away from your cheeks. “You’re so beautiful, sweetheart.” You blushed. Your heart raced and the butterflies were fluttering around. Nanami softly kissed your lips before placing his hand on the small of your back and headed inside the kitchen.
“Yo, Nanamin,” Gojo greeted. Nanami nodded in response. “I see that my baby sister is in great care. How’s the mission?”
“Takuma-kun is improving,” Nanami said. “The mission was a success.” Nanami looked around the kitchen. Flour everywhere with bowls, measuring spoons, and measuring cups piled over the sink.
“I thought you hate baking, sweetheart,” Nanami said. You blushed.
“Well, you’ve been into bread lately. And I wanted to surprise you with homemade baguettes,” you answered cutely. Nanami chuckled. He kissed the top of your head.
“It smells really good, sweetheart,” he said. “How about you wash up and I’ll clean the kitchen. I can keep an eye on the bread.”
“No, no, no! You just came back and—“ Nanami kissed your lips. When he pulled away, he turned your body around so you were facing the direction to the bedroom.
“Go, sweetheart,” he said and lightly smacked your butt. Gojo laughed at the interaction while you walked away flustered. Nanami rolled his sleeves up before heading to the sink to clean up.
“Sooooooo,” Gojo started.
“Are you here to annoy me?” Nanami asked.
“Sort of. So, how is it like being with my sister for this long? How do you know that you still love her or she loves you?” Nanami raised an eyebrow at Gojo.
“She baked bread and she hates baking,” Nanami said. “That says a lot already.” Gojo sighed, knowing that he’s not going to get more of a response from Nanami. He stood up and patted Nanami’s shoulder. “Where are you going?”
“I was going to meet my students for dinner. Tell my sister that I’ll call her tomorrow,” he said before leaving. Nanami shook his head at your brother. By the time you returned back to the kitchen, Nanami had already cleaned it spotless. Your eyes widened.
“You’re fast,” you said. “Satoru left?” Nanami nodded.
“He’ll call you tomorrow,” he notified, leaving you to nod in reply. You walked over to the bread and smiled proudly. Nanami smiled and walked over to you. He hugged you from behind, his face resting in the crook of you neck. “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” you said and caressed his hair. “Kento-kun, what makes you still love me? Do I still—Do you still—what I’m trying to ask is—“ Nanami squeezed you tightly before letting go and dragging you to the couch. He sat you on his lap and you wrapped your arms around his neck.
“You baked bread for me when I know you loathe baking,” Nanami said with a soft smile. “It taste good by the way. But I don’t just love you for that.” Nanami curled a strand of your hair behind your ear. His hand cupped the same side of your face. “I love coming home to you. You make my worries melt away, especially when I hear you singing in the background while you make dinner. You remind me how amazing of a sorcerer I am. You’re a sweetheart who always looks out for others. You haven’t changed a bit except for how confident you became over the years.”
“I think I can thank my nursing profession,” you said happily. Nanami smiled.
“You support me no matter what. If anything, my love for you keeps getting stronger.” You kissed him deeply. “What about you?”
“You’re consistent and I love that about you,” you said. “You’re patient and take care of me even when you don’t have to. No one gets me like you do, Kento-kun. You mean everything to me.” Nanami kissed you back in response.
“Even when I haven’t proposed yet?” You laughed and playfully hit his shoulder.
“Even then,” you said. “However I’m still waiting for that ring.”
“I know, sweetheart. Soon, I promise.”

Our Love Story
Nanami Kento x Reader
Part 6: Not Like The Others
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5
(Song Inspiration: Photograph by Ed Sheeran)
It was a beautiful Friday night. Nanami was at home, finally having the time to read a book from his to-be-read list. He had a cup of hot tea by him with his phone close by. Even though it was late, he patiently stayed up and waited for you to come over since your friends wanted to go out and drink.
He remembered lying down in bed with you last week at his place. He was reading his book while you were studying for an upcoming midterm. While studying and reading, you spoke about your friends wanting to go out to the club. Your Friday finally aligned with theirs and he encouraged you to spend time with them.
“Kento-kun! You don’t mind right?” you asked. “I won’t be out too late. And I won’t even drink!” Nanami kissed your forehead, hoping he gave you the reassurance that he wouldn’t mind.
“Darling, you can go out and drink to your heart’s content,” he said. “And you can stay out as late as possible.” You looked at him with big eyes, surprised at his response.
“You-You mean it?” you asked. Nanami nodded.
“You’re surprised,” he stated. You nodded. He watched you stare blankly ahead from behind him. Before he got a chance to bring you back to reality, you looked up at him and smiled.
“I’ll at least be home at a reasonable time,” you said softly. Nanami kissed your lips.
“Come home when you’re done having fun. Just come back home to me,” he said.
“Okay.”
It was now past 2 in the morning. You left since 9PM and every half hour to an hour, you would text him how you were. And every text message shows how drunk you were becoming. He couldn’t help but chuckle. He wonders if you were a light weight. If you were more hyper or solemn when you drink. He never had an opportunity to have a drink with you yet since the two of you have busy schedules.
His cell phone suddenly rang. He immediately picked his phone up.
“Sweetheart? Is everything okay?”
“Oh she’s okay!” Hana, your close friend, answered. “You don’t mind texting your address. She won’t stop crying.”
“Did she get hurt?” he asked worriedly.
“Umm she’s scared that you’re mad at her,” she answered slowly. “You’re not, right? Because—“
“I’m not angry,” he said. He can hear Hana tell you that he isn’t mad. He heard your sniffles from the background. He took the opportunity to quickly send your phone the location.
“Oh! Thank you, Kento-san,” Hana said.
“Stop crying! He’s not mad!” he heard Keiko yell.
“Now you’re mad!” you exclaimed.
“You need to get this resolved. You never cried before,” Yumi muttered but he had heard.
“Hana-san, can I talk to her?” Hana asked you if you wanted to talk to Nanami. He heard a no from you which made him frown. He could hear the sadness in your voice. And all he wants to do is to hold you tightly in his arms. Hana nervously chuckled.
“I’m sorry, Kento-san. We’ll be there soon.”
“Thank you.”
He waited for another 20 minutes for you to come back. Hana, Keiko, and Yumi were with you as you leaned against Hana. You thanked them before stumbling your way inside.
“Can you girls give me your number and let me know that you got back safely?” he asked. The girls blushed and immediately exchanged numbers. Nanami thanked them again and watched them enter the elevator before closing the door. When he closed the door, he watched you stumble into the couch. You were eerily quiet, making him feel uncomfortable. He can feel your tension.
“Sweetheart?” Nanami walked to you and sat down. You were hugging her knees, your face buried in your arms.
“I’m sorry. I lost track of time,” you said. “And when this guy started to dance with me, I did leave and danced with Yumi. I didn’t do anything wrong.” Nanami frowned. You looked small in his eyes. A completely different person than how you usually are. He slowly placed his hand on your shoulder. When he did, you flinched.
“Sweetheart.” He felt his heart break. You were scared of his touch.
“I wanna be alone, please,” you said, letting your tears fall.
“Stay in the bedroom, sweetheart.” You shook your head. “For me? Please?” His plea sounded vulnerable. He sounded as sad as you were, so you agreed. You slowly stood up from the couch and walked to the bedroom. Nanami followed you, just so you wouldn’t fall and get hurt.
“Kento-kun,” you called.
“Yes darling?” You couldn’t help but smile. He is being patient and calm. You turned around.
“Thank you. And goodnight.” You leaned up and kissed his cheek softly. “And I’m sorry if I’m bitchy in the morning.” Nanami softly chuckled and captured your lips.
“Goodnight sweetheart. Sweet dreams. Wake me up if you need anything. I won’t mind.” You nodded, feeling unsure about it.
It was the next morning. You woke up groaning with a headache. You looked at the clock sitting on the night table. It was already noon. Your eyes widened and you sat up.
“Ouch,” you muttered. You then noticed the glass of water and painkillers sitting next to the digital clock. You smiled and took it, praying for the headache to leave. You took the covers off of you and found yourself wearing your clothes from last night. You felt gross and have the immediate urge to shower. You hope the shower would help with the hangover.
When you left the bedroom, the apartment was quiet. You walked around and found a note on the kitchen island.
I’ll be back in about an hour, sweetheart. I went to the store.
Love, Kento.
You smiled and placed the note back on the counter before heading to the shower.
By the time you got out and changed, Nanami returned with bags in his arms. Your eyes widened and you quickly ran to him and grabbed a couple of bags off his arms.
“Thank you, my dear,” he said.
“You’re welcome.”
“How’s the hangover? Did the painkillers help?”
“I’m feeling better every minute,” you answered. “Thank you.” Nanami smiled and kissed your forehead.
“Anything for you.” It was silent when you two were putting the groceries away. You couldn’t help but feel embarrassed from last night.
“Kento-kun,” you called, putting the last of the groceries in the fridge. “About last night…”
“You don’t have to—“ He stopped when you shook your head and walked to the couch. Nanami followed you, sitting closely next to you. You crossed your legs on the couch and faced him.
“My last relationship ended a year ago before I met you. He was in my high school. Outgoing guy, popular, smart, and very sweet. I wasn’t the popular type, but people knew me. I was failing physics so he tutored me and we grew to like each other and we became a popular couple,” you explained. “The end of our junior year we started dating. He was my first everything, except for sex which I’m so happy I didn’t lose my virginity to that fucking asshole.” Your language surprised him. You avoided his gaze, missing the blush in his face. You mentally want to slap yourself for even letting out the last information to him.
“The first half of the year was great. The honeymoon phase. But as time went on, there were signs I never noticed. He was becoming controlling. Controlling with what I wear, who I’m with, and what I do along with where I go.” You swallowed a large lump in your throat, to avoid the tears that wanted to leave your eyes. “He gets so angry when I do things that he didn’t like.”
“Did-Did he hit you?” His voice was sharp yet calm when he asked. His eyes never left you. He felt anger rise when you nodded. “Did you have a hard time leaving him?”
“Mentally but I did it,” you said. “I never got to go out and spend time with my friends since you and I became official. I never knew what to expect. But I should’ve known that you’d be okay with it because you said so and you always go by your word. However, that fear overwhelmed me.”
“Sweetheart? Please look at me.” Slowly, you did. And when you did, you let your tears fall. Your body trembled and Nanami enveloped you in his arms, holding you tightly to him. You silently cried with your face buried in his chest. “I will prove to you that I will never ever do that to you.” You nodded. “I promise. I promise you.”
“Okay,” you said softly. You pulled away slightly to look at him and gave him a small smile. Nanami wiped your tears.
“You’re so lovely,” he said. You couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. “I’m gonna protect that sweet heart of yours.”
“You’re so corny! But it’s very sweet. I needed it.”
“If it helps you, then I can always be corny for you,” he said a little shyly. You giggled.
“Just you being you makes me happy.”
“So, you’re a virgin?” You made a face.
“Aren’t you?”
“Touché.”

Our Love Story
Nanami Kento x Reader
Part 5: The Meeting
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4
(Song Inspiration: Send Me On My Way by Rusted Roots)
You patiently waited at the restaurant that Nanami told you to wait at. Spring was arriving. You were on spring break for the week, something you were relieved with as you were able to rest and take the week off from work as well.
Nanami talked about how curious his friends were about you, especially Gojo. When he mentions about it, you could sense the irritation from him.
“Do you not like him, Kento-kun?” you would ask curiously.
“He’s nosy and intrusive,” Nanami answered immediately. “He loves to talk and is egotistical.” You lightly laughed. You could see how the two are polar opposites. “Would you like to meet them? Geto-san, Ieiri-san, and Gojo-san?”
“I-I would love to. You’ve met my small circle of friends. I would love to meet yours.”
And here you are. Sitting nervously at the restaurant where you and Nanami had your first date. You put various outfits on. Outfit after outfit, you concluded to a pair of boyfriend jeans and a white T-shirt with a black knitted cardigan to stay warm. You scrolled through your phone, patiently waiting for their arrival.
“Is she here?!” You heard an excited male voice ask.
“For the fifth time, yes,” you heard your boyfriend answer. Your heart was racing at this point. You suddenly felt like a child, knowing you’ll meet his friends his age.
“Aw how cute. You bought her something?”
“Shut up.” You watched when Nanami, two men, and a woman walked up to the booth. You watched Nanami smile at you and immediately sat down next to you. He gave you a quick kiss on the lips and handed you a bouquet of flowers. “I’m sorry I didn’t pick you up.”
“Are these apology flowers?” you asked teasingly and Nanami blushed. His friends awed, making him glare at them.
“Yes.” You smiled and kissed his cheek. You happily thanked him, admiring the bouquet. “This is Ieiri Shoko. She’s our doctor. This is Geto Suguru. And the loud one is Gojo Satoru.” Nanami then introduced them to you.
“I am pretty loud,” Gojo confessed.
“Wow, Nanami, she’s a cutie,” Shoko said.
“Is our Nanami treating you well?” Geto asked. You blushed. Shoko nudged Geto’s arm with her elbow.
“He bought her flowers. Of course he is!”
“There’s no way that you’re his girlfriend,” Gojo said, fist resting on his chin. You can feel him staring you down. “You’re too cute and seem too playful for him. Nanamin here is too serious.” You let out a giggle which turned into a laugh.
“Kento-kun is far from serious!” you exclaimed in your laugh. “I lied, he is serious but he’s not always serious.” The three of them stared at Nanami. They imagined him laughing out loud and cracking jokes to you.
“I don’t see it,” they said.
“So how did you two meet?” Shoko asked.
“Do you have kids?” Gojo asked.
“What do you do for a living?” Geto asked after slapping the back of Gojo’s head.
“I work overnights at a hospital as a technician. So I’m on the floor with the patients often,” you answered Geto. “I don’t have kids. And we met by my bus stop by this cafe I usually go to by bumping into him and spilling my coffee all over us.” They chuckled.
“I bet he was angry,” Geto said. Nanami sighed.
“Nanami isn’t like that,” Shoko defended.
“I had her treat me out to coffee,” Nanami answered. “And baked goods.”
“Going for the younger ones now, huh?” Shoko questioned.
“She’s only 22,” Nanami said. “You’re making us sound ancient. A five year age gap isn’t even bad.”
“Are you in school?” Geto asked. You nodded.
“I’m in my last semester for nursing,” you answered.
“You can be my personal nurse!” Gojo exclaimed. Geto smacked the back of his head again. You could only laugh at his silliness.
“Maybe you could help me out at the school,” Shoko said. “Nanami told us that you know about our occupations. Come visit sometime.” She leaned in closer to you. “I’m glad that I won’t be the only female around these idiots.” You laughed.
“I’m glad my female presence will save your sanity.”
You relaxed. And you were happy being able to talk to them as if you’ve been friends with them for a while.
“But really! How does Nanamin act with you?” Gojo asked curiously. You placed your index finger by your lips and winked.
“Secret,” you said.
“You two are torturous.”
Shoko, Geto, and Gojo left together while you and Nanami took a cab ride back to your place. You held onto the bouquet as you held Nanami’s hand. You leaned your head on his shoulder and smiled with content.
“What did you think of them?” he asked curiously.
“I love them,” you said. “I just hope that they like me too.” Nanami turned his head to kiss the top of your head.
“Of course they do,” he answered. “I talk about you from time to time. They really like you. The three of them are expressive. You would’ve been able to tell if they didn’t like you.”
“You-You do?”
“I talk about you to Ieiri-san and Geto-san a lot,” he reiterated. You lightly laughed. Nanami went through his phone and you couldn’t help but look with him. He went through his pictures and you smiled at the older pictures of him when he was younger. He clicked on a picture of him and a man with brunette hair. “This was my best friend. Haibara Yu. He definitely would’ve loved you.”
“What kind of person was he?” you asked curiously. Nanami smiled.
“Very kind and optimistic,” he answered. “He was willing to help everyone no matter what.”
“Sounds like a great guy,” you said. “I’m glad you were able to have him in your life.” Nanami kissed the top of your head again as he cradled your head gently.
“I’m glad to have you in my life now.”
“I am too. So, would you want to meet my dad one day?”
“I’m looking forward to.”
A couple of weeks passed. You sighed with relief when your professor finally dismissed class. Early too.
“Kento-kun!” you called him cheerfully. Nanami turned around and smiled. He waited patiently for you at your campus. He welcomed you with open arms and you ran and hugged him tightly.
“Sweetheart,” he said. He took your backpack and held your hand. “How was class.”
“Not too bad,” you answered. “Still on call?” Nanami nodded. “Can we still eat an early dinner?”
“Of course. Where would you like to go?”
“I don’t have a craving for anything but—“ Your cellphone suddenly rang. You looked at the caller I.D. and smiled widely before answering the call. “Dad!” Nanami smiled. You were very close to him and he loves that you are. “I’m with Kento. Yeah, he picked me up from campus. No I’m not disturbing him!” Nanami quietly chuckled. “Eh? Today? Are you sure? You’ll be okay? The doctor said to watch over your health. O-Okay.” You held the phone against your chest and looked up at Nanami. “My dad wants to meet you. Today.”
“Okay,” he replied. “Right now?” You nodded. Nanami smiled softly. “I’ll call Gojo-san and Geto-san.” You smiled widely and placed your phone back your ear.
“We’ll be there! See you soon!”
Once you hung up, Nanami squeezed your hand for your attention. You looked up at him with curiosity, especially when you caught the nervous look in his eyes. You smiled and hugged his arm.
“Let’s buy him his favorite snack before we head over,” you said. “You shouldn’t have anything to worry about.”
I shouldn’t?
That’s all he could think about. Nanami called Ijichi and you text him the address to your father’s house. It was slightly farther from where you or Nanami lived. You offered Ijichi money to pay back for the driving he had to do, but he reassured you that it was no problem. You gave him a small smile, slightly uneasy.
“Ijichi-san, I’ll buy you lunch next week for driving us,” Nanami said. You looked at Nanami with a smile of relief.
“Alright. If you two need a ride back, just let me know,” he said.
“Thank you!” you said happily and waved to him as he drove away. The two of you stood in front of a small, one-story house. You looked up at Nanami with a smile. “When you take him out for lunch, use my card.” Nanami raised your hand to his lips.
“If it makes you feel better, then okay.”
“Thank you, Kento-kun.”
He walked slightly behind you, holding both your hand and a small plastic bag of your father’s favorite snack. You unlocked the door and entered inside.
“We’re here!” you announced. You gently closed the door and the two of you removed your shoes. Quiet and slow footsteps were heard. You smiled widely to see your father greeting you and Nanami happily and strongly. “Dad!”
Nanami smiled at the scene. He knew you haven’t seen him in a while and just spoke to him on the phone every week. The fact that he is sick surprised him. He appeared healthy to him. But he could see where you got all your strength from.
“Kento-kun, this is my dad. Dad, this is my boyfriend, Nanami Kento,” you introduced. Nanami bowed respectfully, introducing himself again.
“Oh, sweetie, I like him,” your father said. You and Nanami smiled brightly. The two of you followed him inside and into the dining room. On the table was a simple dinner prepared for the three of you.
Your father sat at the head of the table while you and Nanami sat across from each other.
“So, Kento-kun,” your father said as the three of you were putting food on your plates. “My daughter talks about you nonstop.” You blushed.
“Does she?” Nanami asked, excitement apparent in his voice. Your father chuckled lightly with a nod.
“I never heard this girl talk about guy like she talks about you. I’m just curious about one thing. What do you do for a living?”
“I work in security for the government in Tokyo,” Nanami answered. “It’s something I’m not allowed to discuss in full detail.”
“Oh wow! That’s amazing! Sweetie, how’d you snag this fine gentleman?”
“DAD!”
“I’m just curious! He seems like a boy you get from those romantic books you read!”
“Dad!” Your father looked at Nanami with so much relief. You groaned with full on embarrassment and hid your face with your hands. Nanami lightly laughed.
“You have no idea how relieved I am that she has someone like you,” he said. Nanami felt himself blush. “I got cancer before she even started college. My daughter works nonstop, getting jobs to help pay the bills, study hard to get scholarships, and she barely asks for any help. So thank you, Kento.”
“I-I—“ Nanami was flustered. His eyes moved over to you where you just shyly averted his gaze. Your father laughed and patted both of your shoulders.
“Kento, do you drink? Let’s have a drink together.”
“Wait! I don’t think—“
“One small drink, sweetie,” he said as he stood up and walked over to the small cabinet of liquor that he stores. He pulled out a bottle of whiskey and then two shot glasses. You watched how happily your father poured the drinks.
“Thank you,” Nanami said.
“You’re welcome, son,” he said.
The two of you stayed longer than planned. You watched Nanami happily spending time with your father. Once Nanami saw the time and turned to you, you were already asleep on the couch. That was when he called for a ride and helped you got ready to leave.
“He loves you,” you said happily and tiredly.
“I’m glad,” Nanami said.
“He called you, son. He’s never done that before.” Nanami felt a warm-hearted feeling. “And he said to come back. He even gave you his number. You met him today.”
“I’m one of a kind, sweetheart,” Nanami said.
“I—Yeah, you are. I’m so glad he loves you.”
“What do you tell him about me?” You blushed. The two of you finally arrived back to your apartment, where he was going to drop you off before he headed back to his.
“I told him about how we met and he was very surprised that you weren’t mad and continued to help me,” you answered. “I told him that you always ask how I’m doing. His favorite part is that you always help me out even when I say no.”
“You’re stubborn. I have to.” You playfully rolled your eyes. Nanami chuckled. The two of you stopped at your door. He pulled you in for a hug and kissed your forehead.
“Thank you for letting me meet your dad,” he said softly.
“You’re welcome. Get home safe, okay?”
“I’ll text you when I’m home, sweetheart. Sweet dreams.”
“Sweet dreams.”

Our Love Story
Nanami Kento x Reader
Part 4: Trust Me, Trust You
Chapter 1: Coffee And Baked Goods
Chapter 2: Sushi, Movie, And A Kiss
Chapter 3: Always Prepared For My Lady
(Song Inspiration: I Believe by The Jonas Brothers)
You heard the front door unlocked. You turned around from your computer and smiled to see Nanami enter inside.
It was only a week ago when he asked you to be his girlfriend. You remembered coming home from work and he was already there, a small breakfast made on the counter with a cup of hot herbal tea. His surprise woke you up from the tiredness, as if you had just woken up for the morning despite your all-nighter. He couldn’t help but kiss you nonstop, until he called you his girl. Officially.
When you looked at him, your head cocked to the side. Hair was messy unlike its usual perfect groomed self. His sleeves were already rolled up and his tie was wrapped around his hand.
“Kento-kun, are you okay?” you asked worriedly. Nanami looked up at you with a soft smile.
“I am,” he answered and walked up to you. He kissed you softly on the lips and looked over at your computer. “Busy semester?” You nodded.
“It’s my last one,” you replied.
“How’s your schedule like?”
“Lecture on Tuesday in the afternoon and my clinical day is on Thursday,” you answered. “They’re going to provide reviews that I have to attend. It’s all for the big exam to get my license after school.” Nanami took a seat next to you by the kitchen island.
“If you need anything, let me know, okay?” he offered as he held your hand. You smiled and nodded. “I mean it. You don’t have to do everything by yourself. Let me help you.”
“Okay, Kento-kun.” Your eyes then widened at the time. “I forgot I said I’d make dinner.” Nanami chuckled and stood up. He kissed your lips.
“I got it, sweetheart,” he said. “Focus on nursing stuff.” You shook your head and stood up from your seat. You pulled his wrist and sat him back down.
“No. You sit. You just came back from work,” you said and ran to the fridge to pick out the ingredients. He didn’t stop you, letting you spoil him with dinner tonight.
“Thank you, sweetheart,” he said. You smiled.
“You’re welcome.” He sat down in content, unwrapping his tie as he watched you cut the veggies and meat. You yawned while cutting the onions. And suddenly winced in pain. Nanami immediately stood up and walked over to you. “I’m so clumsy.” You put the knife down. Nanami turned the kitchen sink on and held your hand so your bleeding finger stayed under the running water.
“Now you sit down and rest,” he said. “I’ll finish up. Are you just cooking these all together?” You nodded. Once he bandaged your finger, he placed you by the couch and covered you with a blanket. He brought your laptop and placed it on your lap. “Now study.” You chuckled.
“Yes, sir.”
From the couch, you watched him cook. Your eyes never left him, admiring the man you get to call yours. You get to feel like the luckiest woman in the world. You got the chance to become friends with him and now he’s really yours.
“Stay over there, I’ll bring a bowl over for you.” You smiled and he smiled back. After dinner, he cleaned up after continuously and gently pushing you back on the couch. You pouted, feeling bad that he’s been doing all the work at your place after his shift.
“Kento-kun,” you called once he sat down next to you. He hummed softly in response, his eyes resting on you. “You really need to tell me what you do for a living. It’s eating me up and I don’t want to doubt you. I don’t want to fight over it in the future because I will argue with you.” You were sure of it and he took note of it. He nodded and sat back on the couch.
“If I tell you, you can’t tell anyone,” he said. “Absolutely no one.” Your heart raced at his serious and stern tone. Nonetheless, you nodded. “I choose to trust you too.” With that statement, you smiled. “But after I tell you, you have an option to stay or bail. And if you bail, I will respect that.”
“Kento-kun, are you like some gang leader?” you guessed. Nanami couldn’t help but laugh at your question. You pouted at his reaction. Nanami leaned in and kissed your forehead.
“No, I’m not a gang leader sweetheart.” You sat closer to him, your legs now resting on his lap. You held his hand and played with his fingers. He softly smiled. “I’m a sorcerer. In this world, there is cursed energy that comes from stress and negative emotions from humans. I have a vast amount of cursed energy where I can see cursed spirits. Kind of like ghosts.” He paused and looked at you. He watched you process the information as you stared blankly ahead of you. Once you looked at him, he continued again. “We work in secret for Japan. We even have our own schools to train new sorcerers.”
“And you did all that?” Nanami nodded.
“So that’s my job. I work for the government to save society from cursed spirits.” You nodded. Then you thought about why he gave an option to leave but it suddenly clicked. “It’s a risky job. I never planned to be in a romantic relationship until I decide to retire. However, as cheesy as it sounds, you changed that.”
“Psh, you wanting to be in a romantic relationship with a college student. Wait, how old are you? I am almost 22.”
“27.”
“So you did this for a while.”
“I actually recently returned. I worked as a salaryman.” You lightly chuckled.
“I can see that job suiting you more.” Nanami chuckled in return. “Must’ve been a crappy job.”
“It is but it did make good money.”
“Then why did you stop?” You were curious.
“My best friend was killed. My views changed but after helping this baker, I felt as if I had meaning to be a sorcerer again. So I called a friend and here I am.” You can see it was a topic he wouldn’t freely talk about. But you loved that he was open about it. “Sometimes I think they purposely put us against stronger cursed spirits. If it never happened…if I was stronger…” He paused, struggling to continue. His best friend’s death still triggering him.
“Kento-kun, you two were young,” you said. “You never would’ve known. It’s not your fault at all.” He looked at you softly, showing you his vulnerability. You wrapped your arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. “Thank you,” you said softly. Slowly, he wrapped his arms around your waist, bringing you on to his lap. You slowly pulled away and looked at him with a smile. “So do you guys have, like, powers too?” Nanami chuckled. For the rest of the evening, he talked about his technique and talked about his friends and their techniques. You sat there happily, as you were able to learn more about Nanami Kento.

The Last Call
Nanami Kento x You
I give the biggest credit to @namikyento for this idea! Thank you so much for it! I hope you guys enjoy it!
I’ll post more of Our Love Story after this weekend!
(Song Inspiration: we can’t be friends (wait for your love) by Ariana Grande)
You stared blankly at the blank word document on your laptop. The ringtone from your cell phone pulling you out of your daze. You looked at the caller I.D. with a racing heart. All of the hope you had was suddenly gone when it wasn’t who you wanted it to be.
“Emi. Are you okay?” you asked, tone with disappointment but also worry that she called.
“Let’s go out,” she said. “You need a night out.”
“I’m fine.”
“You haven’t been fine for the past four months. I think you got worst,” Emi pointed out.
You were quiet. You felt everything disappear from your grasp. And you hated yourself for letting that feeling consume you more and more.
“You helped me out from my last relationship,” Emi pointed out. “I can’t let it consume you, too. He’s a jerk for leaving you like that. He’s a jerk for that to occur. He hurt you. Show him that you can be happy without him.”
“I—“ For the first time in a while, you let your tears fall. You tried to muffle your sobs, however, Emi heard.
“You’re my sister from another mister,” she said. “If not tonight, then I’m going to come over with both of our favorite snacks and we will watch Legally Blonde, 500 Days of Summer, and maybe John Tucker Must Die.” You let out a breathy chuckle and nodded.
“Okay,” you said as you wiped your tears away. “I’ll get the living room ready.”
The two of you huddled closely together on the couch. A large, fuzzy blanket wrapped around you two as she quickly ate a bag of chips and you slowly ate your popcorn.
“These two, I still wish they ended up together,” Emi said. You nodded, your expression very melancholy.
“But he’ll find someone for him,” you said. All you could think of was him. The love you two shared that slowly disappeared and is forever gone. “We broke up once but he called me and we tried to make it work.” Emi looked at you. You haven’t spoken about the break ups. You indulge in work and an attempt to write a new book. But all of your inspiration was gone.
“And now?”
“I thought it was going to work,” you said, your voice breaking from the tears. “But…but…” You shook your head. You brought your knees towards your chest and buried your face on your knees. “Maybe I did something wrong. It had to be me.”
“No, no, and no! It was never your fault in the first place!” Emi exclaimed. “The asshole hurt you! Because I thought everything was going well! Until I started to barely see him too!”
“Then why?”
“I don’t know. You know him better than anyone. At least, that’s what he always says. So, prove that fucker wrong!”
“Okay,” you said with slight defeat. “I’ll prove him wrong.”
It didn’t happen overnight. But week by week, you would step outside and go about your daily routine. You slowly went back to your morning or afternoon walks. You stopped by your favorite bakery again, a smile becoming bright like it was before.
Today, you and Emi went shopping after you attempted to write something in the morning. You were happy to even start with brainstorming ideas. You made yourself give yourself a “me day”. And Emi never felt so proud before.
“I need new facial products,” you said. “And hair products. I need to take better care of my appearance.”
“Honey, you are gorgeous just the way you are. Your hair, beautiful. Skin, like a baby’s bottom.” You laughed and playfully hit her arm. You blushed from the compliment. It has been a while since you even received such compliments. “Everything okay though?”
“Better than before,” you said truthfully as you looked at her. “Thank you, Emi.”
“I didn’t do anything.”
“You helped push me,” you said. “And I needed it.”
“Good, good. Shall we do something?”
“After we shop, let’s get some alcohol and drink. It’s been a while.” Excitedly, Emi wrapped her arm around your shoulders. Again, you let out a laugh.
“Finally! My drinking buddy is back!”
The drinking didn’t last too long when you found Emi passed out on the couch by 6PM. In a drunken state, you threw the gray blanket on top of her. You poured another shot for yourself and drank some more.
And more and more, you kept drinking and drinking. You went to your room that lead to a balcony and sat down. A bottle of tequila with an empty shot glass sitting in the glass table. The cold air helping you cool down from the heat radiating within you. You scrolled through your phone. Pictures you didn’t bother to delete angered you. The happiness all gone. And it was a mistake going back down memory lane that you couldn’t stop cursing at yourself mentally. So you poured another drink for yourself to quickly down.
“Fucking jerk…” you mumbled. “I’ll give him a piece of his own damn mind…”
You went through your contacts. You forgot that you deleted his number. You felt your heart break. Much more than it had before. But why? Why would it hurt so much now? You dialed the number you only knew by heart. Your heart was racing as it rang and rang.
“Is everything okay?” That voice. The same, deep voice that brings you weak in the knees. The same voice that brings goosebumps all over your body. And the same voice that made you forget how to breathe and made your chest heavy as hell. “Y/N.”
“You’re a jerk, you know that?” you questioned, words slurred. The alcohol really hitting you to its core.
“You’re drunk.”
“Obviously, Captain Obvious.”
“You shouldn’t call me, sweet—Y/N.”
“Nanami Kento, you jerk! How dare you do this to me.” Your tears slipped, and sobs escaped your lips.
Nanami was in bed, tan slacks still on with his blue button up, the first few buttons undone with his sleeves rolled up. He couldn’t even remember the last time he felt at peace. All he could see with closed eyes were your tears. Your tear-stricken face filled with so much hurt and pain. The sounds of your heartbroken cries before he left your apartment was engrained in his mind. And all he could feel was his own heart breaking every single day.
Every night, he goes home and pours himself a glass of whiskey. Maybe even drink two or three more to help him fall asleep, even if it’s for an hour. Tonight was the first night that he chose to not drink anything. Gojo and Shoko both encouraging him to change his bad habits. And of course, of all nights, you called.
His heart skipped a beat when he saw your name on his phone. And even though it wasn’t a greeting he usually heard from you, hearing your voice again brought him great relief. A voice he missed hearing everyday. Your voice that always makes his heart skip a beat and bring butterflies to his stomach. It made him feel something, even for a moment. But he knew, he just couldn’t lure you back in again.
“I’m sorry,” he said softly. He imagined you out in the balcony, your knees hugged against your chest. And it was exactly what you were doing.
“It’s not fair,” you said. “I miss you so much. I still fucking love you and I don’t think I could love anyone else like I love you.” Nanami was silent. He swallowed the large lump in his throat, tears forming in his eyes.
“It isn’t fair…”
“We were so happy, Kento. I never understood why we broke up the first time, but you came back. And I was so happy. You were so happy. We did what we always did. We both worked, ask about our days, and we enjoy every moment we have together. I don’t know what I did wrong. If I did, I’m sorry. I thought I was doing everything right. Did I annoy you? Was I clingy? Was I overbearing?” Nanami took a deep breath, his tears falling. His heart broke more. He knew there was no way that you were in the wrong.
“No. Not at all.”
“But you! One day we spent all day together, you had a freak out moment, we came home, and made love! And the next day, you were distant! You were rarely home. You always went to bed early. You haven’t…I couldn’t…Kento, I needed you so much and you weren’t there for me. And then you break up with me.” You heard him inhale, obvious that he has been crying as well. “I don’t understand why you’re crying.” Nanami couldn’t help but just chuckle.
“You know me so well, sweetheart. Better than anyone else,” he said. His name for you. You always loved it. But tonight, you hated it.
“A-And you know what? I think I’m a great catch! Any guy would wish to have me!” Nanami held in his breath. Because he knew that was true. He glared at every guy that eyed your way flirtatiously. He always pulled you closer to him when the two of you were out, showing everyone that you were taken and his. Nanami got to be the lucky one. He had you. “And I hope you regret letting me go. Sometimes, I even hope you wouldn’t find happiness like you did with me.”
He knows that he wouldn’t.
“But I still love you,” you confessed. Everything you wanted to say to make him feel bad, you couldn’t help but pour some of your love in your rant.
And he still does, too. He sniffled. You heard him, and you cried a little harder.
“I hurt the love of my life. And I hope you find the happiness you truly deserve,” Nanami said.
His heart broke. Because he planned to have a future with you. He planned to love you to the fullest. He planned to be the one to support you. He planned to be the one to give you everything you could ever ask for. But now, all he could do was listen to you cry and keep breaking your heart.
“Goodbye, Kento.”
“Goodbye, my love.”
Immediately, you hung up. You put your phone on the table and hugged yourself tighter as you let your tears spill. You said what you have to say and it was all you could do. Your closure that didn’t feel like a closure. And all you want to do was call him to hear his voice again. To hear him tell you how much he loves you and how he’ll always be there for you. A part of you hoped that he would call you back.
Nanami lied there, tears spilling out of his eyes. His hand rested on his chest with his phone in hand. It was only past 7. A man already in bed the moment he arrived home. Everything you said to him repeated in his mind. Memories of you and him playing over and over. But it stopped when his phone rang again. He had hope. Was it you that called him?
But it all went away when he got a phone call from Ijichi. He wiped his tears away and cleared his throat before he answered.
“Ijichi-san.”
“We need you in Shibuya. It’s urgent.”
“I’ll be there.”
He sat up in bed, looking at his phone. A picture he saved of you that he never had the heart to delete. His favorite picture. A picture where you were busy typing your recent famous book. The smile on your face as you typed. Your smile so bright it added so much light to his dark and brooding life. His only regret was leaving you like this. Heartbroken and in tears. And he’ll regret it, even after death.

Our Love Story
Nanami Kento x Reader
Part 3: Always Prepared For My Lady
Chapter 1: Coffee and Baked Goods
Chapter 2: Sushi, Movie, and a Kiss
(Song Inspiration: Love Her by The Jonas Brothers)
You dragged your feet when you arrived back to your apartment. You dropped your bag to the ground and hung your keys on the hook. You lied on the couch, too tired to even hop in the shower at the moment. You heard your phone ring. It was somehow the only thing that gave you a bit of energy.
“Good morning, sweetheart. Had another good night at work?” Nanami asked. You smiled, the sound of his voice soothing your tense self.
“Good morning,” you greeted tiredly. “Not this time. My body hurts. It was a lot of lifting. And a lot of anxiety tensing my body.”
“I’ll be there soon, okay?” he said.
“It’s okay,” you said as you closed your eyes. “You have work.” The sound of jingling keys made you open them.
“I start work in two hours. I missed you,” he said. You heard the door close and footsteps.
“I can’t promise you that I’m going to be awake,” you said. “I do miss you too though.” Your thoughts lead back to the kiss you two shared a few nights ago. Your heart started racing and you blushed.
“I’ll find a way to get in, sweetheart. I’ll see you soon.”
The moment the two of you hung up, you turned the TV on and fell asleep.
Nanami arrived and walked up the few staircases to your floor. When he arrived, he turned the doorknob. He shook his head that you forgot to lock your door. He quietly opened the door and entered inside. He heard the TV playing softly in the background. He hooked his keys in front of yours, hung his jacket, and took off his shoes. He shut the door quietly behind him and locked it before walking over to the living room. He placed the plastic bag down on the kitchen counter before going to you. He smiled softly to see you fast asleep. He took the blanket hanging on the top of the couch and covered your body warm.
He watched your brows furrow from the movement he made. Slowly, your eyes opened. You smiled to see him.
“You left your door unlocked,” he said softly.
“Sorry,” you mumbled and slowly sat up as you rubbed your tired eyes.
“You can go back to sleep,” he said, holding on to your shoulders so you would lie down. You shook your head.
“But you’re here,” you said. Nanami smiled.
“It’s okay,” he said. “When you get hungry, I bought you a sandwich.”
“Thank you, Kento-kun.” Nanami took a seat on the floor, his back leaning back against the couch.
“A-Are you doing anything tonight, sweetheart?” he asked. You shook your head. “Would you like to go on a date tonight?” His question woke you up. You turned to your side to face him. Oh how your heart was racing at the close proximity of his face. You can feel your face heat up.
“I would love to,” you answered happily. “W-What do you have in mind?”
“To be honest, I’ve never been on one.”
“No way. You’re lying.” Nanami shook his head, slightly embarrassed.
“I’m a busy man.” You blushed again. A busy man yet he made time for you.
“You get out at 6 right?” you asked curiously. Nanami nodded. “We can go out to dinner. I like Korean bbq. You can’t go wrong with all-you-can-eat right?” Nanami chuckled.
“That sounds fun,” he said. “Then I’ll plan our next date. And maybe the date after that.”
“You already plan multiple dates with me?” you asked teasingly. “You must like me a lot.” You immediately glued your lips together. Nanami blushed yet a smile formed on his face. A shy one.
“If you agree to the next dates,” he said.
“I-I would love that.”
“Want me to bring you over coffee on my way here?” You shook your head.
“I can meet you there, Kento-kun.” Nanami shook his head.
“I’ll get you, sweetheart.” He leaned in and kissed your forehead. “I’ll see you later.”
“H-Have a good day at work,” you said.
“I will,” he said. “I have something to look forward to.”
Nanami entered the library, ready to read his newspaper, wanting to know what was going on in the world. It was a long day. He was finally able to sit down. He looked up from the paper when he heard the door open.
“Nanamin!” Gojo exclaimed loudly. Nanami pushed his glasses up and looked up from the paper. “Let’s all go out tonight! I’m up for a celebration.” He put his arm around Nanami’s shoulders.
“For?” he questioned. Nanami pushed his arm off and brushed his shoulder.
“Me!”
“I’m busy,” he answered.
“You? Busy? Aw come on.” Nanami sighed. His phone lit up and he smiled when he read your good morning message. The nights you work, your afternoons became your mornings. He put his phone in his pocket and placed the paper back on the table.
“I’m going out,” he said.
“Without me? With who? Nanamin!” Nanami sighed at his nosy behavior. He stopped at the door and turned to Gojo.
“I have a date.” He smirked at Gojo’s surprised reaction before leaving.
Time was close. You stood in front of your mirror, observing your outfit. A beige sweater dress with a brown belt around your waist to accentuate your waistline. You wore a pair of warm panty-hose. Your brown peacoat was on the back of the couch and your brown boots by the front door. You wondered if you were overdressed. A knock was heard. You jumped and quickly walked to the front door. You looked through the peephole. You blushed and opened the door.
“You’re early,” you said. Nanami smiled, looking at you up and down.
“You look beautiful,” he commented softly. You curled a strand of hair behind your ear. Your sleeve went down by your elbow and he saw a bandage on your forearm. “What happened.” Nanami held your arm, observing the covered wound.
“Oh, I got scratched at work,” you answered, as if it was a normal thing to happen at work.
“You should be careful.”
“I’m usually careful. I promise. Ready?” Nanami nodded. “Let me grab my jacket and we can go.” He watched you put your jacket on before applying on your shoes. You shut the door and locked it. Nanami reached for your hand and held it. You smiled, holding his hand tightly. “No flowers for the first date?” Nanami averted his gaze.
“I wasn’t aware,” he mumbled. You giggled.
“I was kidding, Kento-kun.” Your smile was bright, making Nanami feel more nervous about the date. When you two arrived at his car, he opened your door. Your eyes widened and Nanami smirked at your reaction.
“I never come unprepared for my lady,” he said. On the passenger seat was a bouquet of flowers, sunflowers and roses. Next to it was a box of your favorite chocolates.
“Th-Thank you,” you said breathlessly.
“You’re welcome, sweetheart.”
Nanami started placing the ordered meat on the grill before you did it. You happily thanked him.
“How was work?” you asked.
“It was good, just long. Not as busy as I thought it would be,” he answered, eyes slightly avoiding you. He was vague, you noticed. And you knew he was hiding something.
“What do you do exactly?” you asked curiously. Nanami slightly flinched at your sudden question. You haven’t asked and it never came to mind except now. He didn’t know how to answer you. “Is it something bad?” Nanami shook his head.
“No, it’s just…it’s complicated,” he said. It was the first time you watched him falter in a conversation.
“Kento-kun?” He looked at you and the soft look in your eyes calmed him. “If one day you want to tell me, I’ll wait. I’m choosing to trust you to tell me one day.
It was your last statement that made Nanami realize that you don’t trust easily. It made sense by the way you spoke about your friends. He knows who you’re close to and not. And you weren’t close to many people. It all made sense to him.
“One day, I promise.” You smiled.
“Serve me some food, please!” you said cutely and excitedly. Nanami chuckled, feeling the tension leave. His body relaxed.
“Is this a good first date?” he asked curiously.
“The best.”
“Don’t lie,” he said.
“Fine, you caught me,” you replied. “I mean first dates aren’t typically the best. But I am enjoying it. A lot.”
“Okay, that’s all I care about.” You nodded and grabbed the tongs he left on the table.
“My turn.”

Our Love Story
Nanami Kento x Reader
Chapter 2: Sushi, Movie, and a Kiss
Chapter 1: Coffee and Baked Goods
(Song Inspiration: Love Her by The Jonas Brothers)
It was your winter break. You sighed in content as you landed on your bed after your final. Your friends wanted to celebrate, but you passed on the offer. You’ve picked up extra shifts at the hospital prior to your exam. All you wanted to do was relax. Sleep. But before you fell into a slumber, your cell phone rang. You wanted to ignore it, silencing the ringtone. But when you saw the caller I.D., your eyes widened.
“Nanami-san,” you said, a yawn suddenly escaping your lips.
“Did I call at a bad time?” he asked.
He ended up calling you the day after the two of you met. You happily met him that next day at 8am in your favorite cafe. You didn’t have class until 1pm that day. The topic started off with Nanami asking what you were studying for and you went off with that. He listened, asking questions every now and then. And you love how engaged he was. And by the time you had to leave, Nanami gave you a ride to school. It’s been a month and a half since then. The two of you message or call each other when you can. And you counted a total of 10 meet ups with him to eat.
“You didn’t,” you answered. “I just got home. I finished my final. I’m finally on my winter break.”
“Are you busy right now?” he asked.
“No.” Nanami frowned, feeling guilty for disturbing you. “I’m free all day, Nanami-san. Did you want to do something?”
“I…” Nanami paused.
He wanted to just check up on you. And you sounded exhausted that he felt conflicted to spend time with you. He didn’t know what to consider you as. You remained formal with him so he did the same. You flooded his mind since the day you two met. You were very persistent in paying him back even though it wasn’t a big deal to him. He planned to just meet up with you that one day. But he found himself calling you that evening and the day after and the day after again.
“I just wanted to check up on you,” he said softly. You hummed in response. “It’s been almost a week.”
“You’ve been busy,” you said.
“I’m sorry about that.”
“Don’t be! I’ve been busy also.”
“How did you do on your final?” he asked curiously. He mentally slapped himself. It was the main reason why he called you in the first place.
“I won’t know until I see the results,” you answered sadly. He could imagine your pouty look. “Every time I think I do well, I fail. If I do bad, I fail.”
“I’m sure you did great,” he said. “I know you just got that passing grade.” You smiled.
“I better,” you said. It was quiet between the two of you, but you liked his company even if it’s just on the phone.
“Let me treat you out to dinner. What are you craving?”
“Sushi please. I want take out though. Come over and watch a movie with me.”
You were surprised yourself that you immediately invited him over. Just like him, you didn’t know what to consider him as. You felt too formal to be friends even though the two of you spent time together like one. But calling and texting each other’s well being on a daily basis felt like you two were more than just friends.
“Send me your address. And I’ll send you a menu,” he said. You smiled.
“Okay. I’m going to leave my door unlocked. If I’m asleep, wake me up! Don’t feel bad for doing so.” Nanami was silent, hesitating a bit.
“You shouldn’t leave the door unlocked,” he said. “We can find another day to—“
“I’ll stay awake and the door will be locked. Please come over.” The two of you blushed. You yourself felt too persistent but you really wanted to spend time with him.
“Okay,” he replied softly. You sighed in relief quietly and Nanami mentally chuckled as he heard you. “I might be a bit late.”
“I know. You told me there are times you leave work late. On second thought, maybe you’re right. If you get out late—“
“I’ll be there okay? I have about an hour left. Take a power nap after you tell me what you want me to order. I’ll be there. I promise.”
“O-Okay, Nanami-san.”
You took a quick shower after the call. You went through the menu and messaged him back three sushi rolls and a dessert. You wore your favorite crewneck, shorts, and socks. You brushed your hair and lied down on the couch, immediately falling into a deep sleep.
You couldn’t help but have that gut feeling to wake up. You tried to fight against your sleep, but it felt too good to wake up from. But the sounds of footsteps and a noise right next to you made you alert. You sat up immediately, but held your head up from the sudden dizziness you felt.
“You’re awake.” You recognized the deep voice but your vision remained blurry for a few seconds. You finally saw the tall blonde kneeling in front of you, watching you carefully. “I went to the front desk. They let me in.”
“I-I-“ You were trying to formulate words in your brain, but your brain was still too foggy to think about anything. Nanami softly chuckled as he wrapped the blanket around you.
“You don’t mind if I grab plates and utensils in your kitchen?” he asked. You shook your head. Nanami softly thanked you and stood up.
You wrapped the blanket around your shoulders and watched him look from cabinet to cabinet. You reached for your phone that was on the table. You checked the time and your eyes widened.
“Did you wait long?” you asked.
“Fifteen minutes,” he answered nonchalantly. You blushed.
“I’m so sorry,” you said, eyes lowered to the ground. “I guess I forgot to set my alarm.”
“It’s okay.” Nanami returned with two small plates and two water bottles. “Pick a movie.”
“R-Right.” Nanami set the table, pulling out the containers out of the bag. You began to feel self-conscious. You wondered if he cared about the movie you picked or if he would judge you for liking something he doesn’t. You doubted it but couldn’t help but let to your thoughts consume you.
“You wanted to watch the new rom-com right? You should put it on.”
“That’s okay with you?” Nanami nodded.
“It’s all about you tonight.” You couldn’t help but blush. You patted the empty seat next to you. You pulled the table closer to the couch so the two of you can easily reach over for the food.
It wasn’t long until you devoured your dinner. You didn’t realize that you were even starving until you took your first bite. You recalled Nanami telling you to slow down but you were too engrossed with the movie to commit to slowing down, taking the chance to possibly choke on your food.
Nanami loosened his tie and rolled his sleeves halfway up his arm. He unbuttoned the first couple of buttons of his shirt before he sat back on the couch, making himself more comfortable. You wrapped the blanket around your body to stay warm. You giggled at the cute and romantic scenes that happened. And you couldn’t help but make small comments when something unexpected happened. Nanami would smile, enjoying your inputs on the movie.
“They’re so cute, Kento,” you said. Nanami used his hand to slightly cover his big smile. Your eyes widened and you looked at him with guilty eyes. “I-I mean, Nanami-kun. No! Nanami-san.” He couldn’t help but laugh.
“Kento-kun sounds better,” he said.
“Kento-kun it is then.” A large yawn escaped your lips. The movie just ended and you couldn’t help but rub your tired eyes.
“I’ll clean up.” You stood up and grabbed the plates.
“You are my guest, Kento-kun. You stay put.” You quickly stacked the small amount of plates from the table and headed to the kitchen. Nanami stood up, walking around the room. He would stop at pictures, smiling to see your life. There were pictures of you with your family and friends.
“Didn’t know you played sports,” he said when he found a picture of you in high school with a medal.
“High school track team,” you said. “I was an amazing sprinter.”
“What made you stop?”
“Knee injury. I had to get surgery. I stopped when I graduated.” He was surprised at the new information. He looked over at you.
“You don’t look like a sprinter.” You blushed at his comment.
“Well, I haven’t really worked out as much,” you forced yourself to say. “Besides, I’ve been a busy bee.”
“I’m sorry if I offended you. I didn’t mean to.” He continued to look and found you with, what he assumed, your father. You turned to look at him and caught him looking at the picture. You smiled, eyes back to the dishes.
“The picture you’re looking at is when I just got into college. My ex took that photo. I just started college,” you said.
“What about your mother?” he asked curiously.
“She lives in America with her new husband. I’m not close to her. We just text each other holiday greetings.” Nanami nodded.
“Will I meet your dad?” he asked. It grew more silent, sounds of the rushing water of the sink just running. He was about to call your name again, but you finally answered him.
“Yeah, you’ll meet him.” He walked inside the kitchen and you just finished washing the dishes.
“I should head out soon. I have work in the morning.”
“Okay then. Will I get to see you more while I’m on break?” you asked curiously.
“Only if you want me to.” You followed him to the door as he put on his shoes.
“Of course I do! I would love to see you everyday if I could.” You slightly flinched. You did not plan to say that to him out loud. But Nanami was happy to hear it. He walked up to you, holding your chin gently so you would look at him.
“I would love that too,” he said softly. You wondered if he could hear how loud your heart was beating. When Nanami leaned in and gave you a soft kiss on the lips, you swore you almost forgot to breathe and you felt your knees buckle. You held onto his arms as you kissed him back. “I’ll call you tomorrow, alright?”
“Y-Y-Yeah,” you stuttered, still processing the kiss you shared with him. “Call me. Text me. Come over if you have to.”
“Sweet dreams, sweetheart.”
“G-Goodnight.”
Nanami gently closed the door. You couldn’t help but touch your lips. You could still feel the warmth of his lips on yours. In the end, you couldn’t help but let out a loud ‘yes’ as you headed to bed.
Nanami heard. He smiled widely as he left the floor.

Our Love Story
Nanami Kento x Reader
Chapter 1: Coffee and Baked Goods
(Song Inspiration: Love Her by The Jonas Brothers)
The sound of music played, making you jump slightly from your sleep. Tiredly, you reached for your phone, your eyes still closed and hit the snooze button to stop it. Immediately, you fell back into a deep slumber.
A deep part of you was yelling at you to wake up. You gasped as you immediately sat up in bed and checked the time. Your eyes widened.
“I DIDN’T SNOOZE?! I’M LATE!!!” you yelled to yourself as you jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom to quickly shower.
You fell asleep while studying for your exam last night. The sounds of paper and your electronics bumping into each other as you got out of bed. You repeatedly thanked yourself for setting up your alarm early yesterday. But it followed along with curses since you woke up late anyway.
You grabbed a pair of jeans, a tank top, and cardigan before you quickly packed your backpack. You opened the drawer in your kitchen and cursed again. It was empty. You couldn’t make coffee. You checked the time and you became hopeful. You hoped that you could give yourself 10 minutes for the coffee.
“A large vanilla latte please,” you ordered. “And a croissant.”
You paid the cashier and waited. Every second, you would look at your watch. You had to time it perfectly so that you can reach your bus to get to the University. But unfortunately, it was taking longer than you expected for your latte to be made. To your slight relief, your name was finally called. You thanked the associate and quickly walked out. You had to walk a few blocks to get to your bus. You quickly made your and felt yourself hit something hard before landing on your butt.
“I’m so sorry!” you frantically said, feeling the anxiety build up. Your croissant fell out of the paper package and your coffee cup is now empty. You looked up and your eyes remained on the coffee that spilt on clothing. You wanted to cry from embarrassment. “Oh my—God I’m so stupid and clumsy. I’m so sorry sir!” You kept bowing your head.
“It’s okay.” You instantly felt yourself blush from the sound of his voice. It was deep and very soothing. When your eyes reached his, you can’t help but just admire on how handsome he looks. And then you were caught off guard that he wasn’t angry, but concerned. “Are you okay? You fell.”
“Y-Yeah,” you answered, about to get yourself up. He reached his hand out to you and you gladly accepted it. You blushed at his strong grip and couldn’t help but think how large his hand was compared to yours. You saw the time on your watch and your eyes widened. “Damn it.”
“What’s wrong?” You blushed. This man was definitely older than you, you assumed by a few years but he appears more mature than his age. He made you feel like an irresponsible teenager, especially with the answer that you’re about to give him.
“I’m going to be late for my exam which means I won’t be able to enter the classroom which results in an automatic fail,” you answered. The man nodded. He lifted a finger up as he made a phone call, signaling you to wait. As he made a phone call, you observed him some more. A beige suit and pants that is stained with coffee. Along with the now stained blue button-up and orange-black spotted tie.
“I’ll take you,” he said. “Is your school close?” You told him the University you were attending. “I’m heading there too.”
“You’re a student?” He didn’t seem like it to you, so you were genuinely surprised. But it quickly faded when he shook his head. “Work.” You nodded. Your college was large, different campuses around the city. A black car pulled up and he opened the door for you. You thanked him as he entered inside the car.
“Oh? Friend of yours?” The driver asked.
“An acquaintance,” he answered. You noticed the playfulness in his eyes. “Ijichi-san is our assistant manager. I’m Nanami Kento.” You bowed your head, introducing yourself to him. “We’re heading at the same area.”
“Okay.” The car ride was quiet. You were trying to figure out what Nanami does. If Ijichi was an assistant manager, you can only assume that he doesn’t work for the school.
“You don’t work for the school,” you said. Nanami shook his head.
“But I’m working with them right now,” he answered. He looked at you as you stared out the window.
“I’m sorry,” you said. “I can pay for dry cleaning or pay for your clothes.” Nanami shook his head.
“Don’t worry about it. What about you? Coffee spilt on you too?” You shook your head.
“My own clumsiness and stupid mistake did this.” You were frustrated. You’ve been stressed and overwhelmed. You had no time to relax. And exams made you anxious. You felt so overwhelmed that you couldn’t help but let your tears automatically fall. And those tears surprised Nanami and it made him panic for a bit.
“I-It’s nothing to cry about,” he said softly, wanting to console you. You shook your head as you wiped your tears away.
“This is so embarrassing,” you mumbled. “I-I’m sorry Nanami-san. Look at least let me pay you back somehow?” Nanami nodded.
“You could take me out for coffee and baked goods,” he requested. You smiled and nodded.
“Okay! Here, let’s exchange numbers. That way you can contact me for your coffee and baked goods,” you said. “And thank you. It lessens my stress.”
“Paying me back lessens your stress?” He was surprised. He figured most people would be happy with just a gesture of kindness instead of anger that was incidental. You nodded.
“It would’ve haunted me for a while.” Nanami couldn’t help but smile a small smile. You were surprised but you smiled back anyway. “Plus you’re giving me a ride to school. Now I can make it there and relax before my exam.”
“I’ll buy you coffee on the way. Another way for me to help you relieve your stress.” And you couldn’t be more ecstatic at this point. But your eyes landed on his stained clothes. You suddenly frowned and he noticed why. “Don’t worry about it.”
“You’re working though. It’s not a professional thing showing up with coffee all over yourself,” you said.
“I’ll be okay.”
“Do you usually offer coffee and rides?” you asked teasingly. Nanami smiled again.
“Just for a certain female who broke down crying,” he answered sincerely. You blushed, your gaze turning to the window. Nanami softly called your name to get your attention. You looked at him curiously. “Good luck today. You’ll pass.” You smiled widely.
“Thank you, Nanami-san!”
The car stopped and Nanami left the car. You gathered your things and by the time you were about to open the door, you watched Nanami open it for you.
“Thanks Ijichi-san,” he said. You thanked Ijichi before leaving the car. Nanami shut the door. “Let me walk you to your building.” You looked to your left and waved to see your friends before turning back to him.
“Thank you but I’ll be okay. My friends are over there,” you said. “Thank you again for everything.”
“You’re welcome.”
“I-I’ll see you soon?” you asked. Nanami nodded.
“You owe me coffee and baked goods.” You lightly chuckled. Nanami smiled and raised his hand for it land on your head and lightly ruffle your hair. You couldn’t help but blush and feel your heart race at his gesture. “Good luck.”
You shyly thanked him. As you walked to your friends, you turned to him. He was watching you. You smiled and waved over to him and he returned the gesture. When you turned back to your friends, Nanami could hear them squealing and watched them look at him before looking back at you. He chuckled to see your flustered face before turning around to walk to his destination.

So, what's everyone thoughts on a one-shot inspired by Ariana Grande's new song We Can't Be Friends (wait for your love)? Because if anyone has any possible ideas that I can incorporate/do, please share if you don’t mind. I have some things in mind but it’s not set. The ideas keep changing. My brain is slowly getting mushy from school, nerves, and annoying weird sleep patterns.
