when they scarifice Katakuri right after the whole village ran out of young girls
what do you think happened to the Akane Family when they couldn't produce a daughter anymore
Thanks for the question.
It's interesting to think about it. I also want to know what happend with the village. I discussed this question with @bloodredyuki and she helped me with her thoughts.
It isn't confirmed that the Akane family couldn't produce daughters anymore.
Katakuri said there were no 'Musume' 娘 left in the village.
I think the right translation is not girl but 'young marriageable woman'.
So it's possible there were still girls in the village, but they were too young for a marriage with God.
As long there were married couples it was still possible to give birth to girls.
Even if all the Akane girls were sacrificed, when the men would marry a woman outside of the clan they could still continue their bloodline.
At least Aoi is born as an Akane girl.
But I wonder how often did the village need a sacrifice?
Sumire said in chapter 68: "Because when they did the monsters would not come for several years and they could live free from fear."
It sounds like 5 - 10 years.
But the villagers said to Katakuri: "You have been chosen this year."
As if the needed one sacrifice each year.
Became the intervall shorter and shorter?
At least something must have stopped the rituals.
But I'm still not sure who was the last sacrifice.
The first day of summer was filled with gelato, walking around the town, playing ball games with children at the plaza. But as the evening sets in the underdogs decided it was time to head back. They spend their first night in a sleepover.
Luca recalls the events of the day...then the days before today. He remembers each time he caught himself whipping his head to no one after learning something new about humans. Calling out to his best friend to hand him a book, a tool, a crayon. Only to realize (again and again) that Alberto's in Portorosso...
We all know that one of Aoi's perks is effortlessly rejecting every proposal Akane throws at her, and we don't have a reason yet as to why she does so, even after it's clearly shown that she likes him.
Well, why does she reject him?
In the recent spin-off chapter, we got to know that Satou, Kou's classmate, has a quirk of correctly judging people based on what kind of sweets they'd like. He even exactly judged Nene's type of guys, saying she was the kind of person to prefer "appearance over flavour".
But then what does he say for Aoi's type immediately after?
He says she seems like the type to prefer natural, handmade sweets, with no additives. (Kinda like Hanako, if I must say so.)
It's just a theory, but what if this is referring to Aoi's type? The simplest kind of love?
We all know that Akane's love for Aoi, although with simple enough beginnings, is far from normal right now. Even his habit of confessing to her every day isn't normal either.
In fact, when he confessed to her on the first day of middle school, she said that him confessing on a "special day" bored her, giving him only 2 points.
And almost all of his confession attempts involve some or the other of his achievements, even something as trivial as pulling up weeds from the ground.
What if she doesn't want anything special, and her type of confession is a natural, simple one?
Deep down, the concept of his love for her is simple enough, but he tends to show it in pretty wacky ways.
Maybe all Akane has to do to make her heart flutter is a simple, natural confession that's just enough to show her how much he loves her.
“I don’t hate you as a person in particular, Aoi. I don’t hold anything against you, either. But… how do I put this? You’re a supernatural, right? To me, supernaturals are the same as cockroaches, I guess.” “You just called a bunch of people cockroaches while making a beautiful face…”
So if you could already guess, Luca and Alberto express little signs of affection through physical touch. Throughout the movie, they have a hand or arm placed, draped, or embracing the other’s hand, arm, waist, shoulders, you get the picture. Their love language is physical touch.
But how do two people express a love language when they’re miles apart? I can imagine while Luca is in Genoa, the two get very touch starved. Luca might start getting anxious out of nowhere and Alberto might have little outbursts here and there. The phone calls and letters help, but with the two not in close proximity with each other (and being teenagers), I’m sure this comes with a string of powerful emotions.
Physical touch is one of my love languages as well and before my husband and I got married, he had joined the military while I stayed behind to finish college. We talked on the phone every day, sent letters to each other, and he even paid for my classes and books. (Talk about parallels XD) But with him being four states away from me, the lack of touch put me in very depressive moods.
So here’s some head canons and possible prompts I might use. You all are free to use them as well because I think this is such a cute concept. :3
Giulia is the first to notice that the two boys are touch starved and that’s why they’re being unbearably moody. She talks with Luca about it and they try to formulate a plan on how to express touch while being so far away
The first experiment is describing touch. They have their phone calls, but they’re not really private, so Luca instructs Alberto to go to a pay phone after Massimo goes to bed and to call him. Confused, Alberto does so and Luca starts telling him that he misses having his arm wrapped around his shoulder or holding him by the waist whenever they would ride on their makeshift Vespa’s. Everything is very light and innocent and the two talk for hours just describing all the things they miss that involves touch and that when they reunite, they’re going to rush into each other’s arms and squeeze the other so tight and never let go.
Understanding that they’re very physical creatures, Alberto decides to send one of his t-shirts to Luca. He wears it during a very busy day helping Massimo with the pescheria, doing odd jobs for the people of Portorosso, like repairing a fence or going to the grocer for one of the really elderly nonna’s. He also wears it under his salvataggio shirt. He finally sends the shirt to Luca and Luca is instantly hit with the scent of Alberto; a breathtaking mixture of the ocean, pasta, and Alberto’s own musk of sandalwood and vanilla. He takes the shirt and breathes it in deep, his heart racing as his mind floods with memories of the two of them together in Portorosso. He wears it to bed that night and has the best sleep he’s ever had since he arrived in Genoa.
Loving the shirt idea, Luca sends Alberto pictures from a field trip he and Giulia took at the planetarium. Giulia made sure to capture anytime Luca looked exceptionally fascinated, his eyes lit up like a child on Christmas morning. Alberto smiles fondly on these pictures, and is reminded that he did the right thing sending Luca to school, knowing how passionate he was about learning. He keeps his favorite picture of Luca tucked under his pillow.
Actually Enrico confrim on his twitter that Luca is 12 years old
Since I’m still salty about homophobes complaining that Alberto and Luca are “just kids” and “shouldn’t be shipped”, I’m curious if they have the same stance on these popular ships:
Danny x Sam/Danny x Valerie (Danny Phantom)- All 14
Jake x Rose (American Dragon) - Both 13/14
Aang x Katara (ATLA) - 12 and 14
Phineas x Isabella (Phineas and Ferb) - Officially stated to be under 15, probably closer to 10-12 for most of the series
Adrien (Chat Noir) x Marinette (Ladybug)/Marinette x Luca/Adrien x Kagami/ Nino x Alya - All 14
Kimiko x Raimundo (Xiaolin Showdown) - No official ages but believed to be 14/15
For reference, Luca is 13 and Alberto is 14. Hmm, I wonder what the difference here is 🤷🏻♀️🤔
I once again state: just say you’re homophobic and leave 😂✌🏻
Why didn't the guy also rot away into a deform corpse like the scarifical maidens did?
Thanks for the ask. Unfortunately I have no idea, so I discussed this ask with some people and thought about this theories .
1. The other girls are more desperate. They jumped into the pit of their own free will because they were lied to and promised a happy future at the side of the gods.
Onii-san was thrown into the pit.
2. It takes some time for the body to rot and Onii-san was the last sacrifice from the village.
Maybe he knows himself that he doesn't have much time left.
3. Maybe his body is protected. He has this weapon. It looks like Sumire's weapon, which like her bracelet, has anti-spirit powers.
Underrated scenes but actually so funny, drags him like a sack of potato and also kicks him on his face. Lmao the way Luca covered his face in embarrassment and fear with his cute little hands or the way he wakes up in daze not knowing Alberto just kick him on the face 😂 they are so cute I swear.
