♀️Fem!Queen Fic Rec List ♀️

I have promised you all I would gather some of my favorite genderbent Queen stories, and give a good shout-out to some really amazing writers! Important disclaimer: I've read way more than what's on the list, but it's simply impossible to collect everything - I was trying to get those that really spoke to me for some reason. I might have this post as an ongoing thing, and whenever I find something new that tickles my pickle, I will keep adding to the list. So, here we go!

Nectar & Ambrosia by rogersgreenhair (i don't know if they have a tumblr or not). Holy shit y'all. This is some excellent fem!Froger smut. One of the best f/f smut I've ever read in general. The sexual tension, and then the actual sex scene is off the charts. I'm still shook.

Incomplete Loves by @borealis-strange. This fic was posted only recently, and it's looking out to be quite intriguing. Your delicious high school AU with rivalry and possibly a mystery. I'm sold.

Mercury-Hutton King AU by @joefanelli. One of the first fem!queen fics ever posted, and what was a huge inspiration for me. It's such a lovely take on fem!Jimercury - truly golden.

Calling All Ladies by @nightoftheland. Another one that inspired me greatly! Incredibly hot smut, each chapter a different pairing- but all of them absolutely delicious. Gets extra points for the realistic descriptions of f/f sex!

The Millionaire's Dinner sadly orphaned- I know who wrote it, but since they clearly don't want to be associated with this anymore, I won't tag them. Mind the warnings on this one- it's a deliciously kinky story, with Maylor as the main couple.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Impossible n'est past Francais (Impossible Isn't French), Muggle Magic and Rhiannon by @emmaandorlando. Can you tell I really love her genderbent fics 😂 so, GPB is based on the Marilyn Monroe movie of the same title, and I'm already hooked as hell. The banter in this is top-tier, starring Froger. INPF is a very gripping Domtay Halloween fic- mind the warnings on it, it is quite shocking. MM is poly smut played out at Hogwarts. Do I need to say more? And finally, Rhiannon is just the perfect fem!Maylor fic, with pining neighbors!

Knock, Knock and Two Princesses by @freesiafields. KK is a mouth-watering fem!Frian dressing room sex ficlet (which was gifted to me! ❤️), and TP is the cutest little Jimercury story with lovely fairytale themes!

so tell me (why my gods look like you), i saw mommy kissing santa claus and angel of small death by @iamnotbrianmay. STM reads more like a poem rather than a fic, it's a gorgeous introspection with immortal Brianna in the focus. ISMKSC is that flirty/fluffy Breaky Christmas ficlet we all need (I mean Brianna in christmas themed lingerie??) AoSD is a Froger soulmate AU- incredible angst material for those who like hurting as much as I do.

my heart is where you are and Merry Christmas by @queensilveryrog. MHIWYA is a cute Maylor fic- all your needs for cuddly content satisfied. MC is the sweetest Deacury Christmas fic- I smile just thinking about it!

It's Not What I'm Used To by @living-on-my-own-fm. Written for Froger week, this beautiful story features vulnerable Freddie and protective Regina - extra points for the references to femme exclusion, and the shitty expectations of being a gold star lesbian! Really hits hard.

There'll Never Be No Other Love Like Yours For Me by @xsheerheartattackx. Such a heartwarming Halloween themed Breaky fic, with witches and curses and the power of love.

tastes like strawberries on a summer evening by @peachydeacon. Outdoor sex with Breaky - did I get you hooked yet? The mix of tooth-rotting fluff and delicious smut in this is simply awesome. Mind blown.

Two Souls In Love by @pumpkinlilyao3. The cutest getting together story starring Froger - mutual pining, second guessing, and then a beautiful happy ending, just the way I like it. This is the first instance of me reading a somewhat tomboyish Regina, and you know what? I'm digging it.

Entangled by @eileen-crys. A sweet Johnica story with electrician Joan (very hot concept, right?) and adorably clumsy Veronica. Also, fun friendship moments on the side!

Safe And Sound another sadly orphaned story. It was looking out really amazing, the set up is an eventual poly!queen Hunger Games AU, and the characterization was soooooo good!

London Is Calling (Let Music lead you to the love) by @sammyspreadyourwings. An incredible series containing gripping little ficlets about a burlesque AU, with some incredible smut scenes and flying dialogue.

If The Sun Is Shining, Stand In It and I love you (I'm glad I exist) by @johndykeon. ITSISSIT is a domestic as hell fic about Breaky and their thousand children (i aspire to live like this), and ILY is such tender smut and fluff, never had been the act of sharing an orange with your girl so intimate.

Bring On The Love by SweetIllusions (i don't know if they have a tumblr or not). The perfect fic for Christmas, complete with sweet poly and breaking down over finding the perfect gifts.

hijack my heart; and green light by @sweetestsight. HMH contains sexy gangster ladies in suits robbing banks and girls supporting girls, with some enemies to lovers hints sprinkled in. Chef's kiss. GL has hippies and weed and hitchhiking and incredible poly smut - i mean what else do you need?

Back To The Light by @valesweetdreams. Another lovely gift for me (❤️), this is a wonderful retelling of Smile turning to Queen- through the lense of a beautiful Maylor coming of age/love story.

What A Princess Wants by @katetheduck-writes. A super cute Froger ficlet with Royalty AU and ditching princes for Princesses and gorgeous weddings!

Of Course (Revisited) by @rhohemian-bapsody. This is the absolute perfect description of what it feels like to be on your period and having a girlfriend who you greatly love but get incredibly pissed off by. A cute Froger story.

I Got You Babe and Lady May by @mother-mercury44. IGYB is Froger meeting at a festival- girls supporting girls and smoking weed and getting rid of asshole dudes to have amazing sex in a tent instead. I approve, i really do. LM is breaky childhood lovers, playing house until they can actually be together. Aww.

My Baby Does Me another orphaned fic 😢 it's Froger being super domestic, equal amounts fluffy and smutty. Just all in all a very feel good fic.

The way you touch by Anonymous. It's just Frian PWP, but my god, what an incredibly good one!! Really, if you want nothing but fantastic smut, click on this link.

Something Special by @sirenlovesqueen. Fem!Frian being super cute domestic girlfriends, cuddling and writing a song together.

You really are the greatest (plumber) in town by specialsnowflake (i don't know if they have a tumblr or not). My very first gift, and based on my own story as well!! ❤️ They really nailed the girls from KYA I must say!!

I should have worshipped her sooner by @anotherhystericalqueen. A cute Maylor soulmate AU, complete with waking up with initials and not knowing who they belong to. Incredible.

Chapter 3 and 5 of Find Me Somebody To Love Jimercury Week Collection by @anironsidh. You should read the whole thing because it's amazing really, but these two chapters are fem!queen. Chapter 3 is a blind date au, and chapter 5 is fake dating. Both are incredible.

Like I'm not Somebody's Daughter by @vinylerafemslash. Read the tags on this one- it's a heartbreaking, but gorgeous story about healing. It features all the girls and even fem!Elton, and it's just all kinds of awesome.

Top underrated fics

So in an effort to not be a miserable arsehole this year (it’s been a fucking car crash into a nuclear reactor into an orphanage into a kitten of a year as it is), I’ve been trying to compile some of the underrated fics for the queen fandom to give them some love.

The idea sort of came from the post that’s been flying around about the death of the fandom, and yada yada yada all the film fans have fucked off and all that shite. There’s still a shit tonne of content being created every bloody day, and if you look under the queen (band) thingy on A03, there’s about 7000+ stories.

I’ve filtered it down to 4000 ish, for the sake of my sanity, and I’ve only compiled fics that are within the band (with a few minor exceptions), they had to be in English (not necessarily perfect), avoiding too many recent fics (they’d naturally have a low count so it was parked at pre December 2020), and I started from the last page (using hits, comments and kudos as the denominators).

I’m not going to rate all of them, just a top ten, so the fics will appear in random orders within their ship category with the authors mentioned if I can find them (those that haven’t been found are in bold, but if you know who it is tell me and I’ll change it).

I really hope you all go out and read these, they really do deserve some love (go give them kudos and comments), and if you’ve been writing fics and aren’t mentioned don’t worry, feel free to add any links to other stories!

Is This Just Fantasy? by @freesiafields, a fun little smut piece set in early Ken Market days, little bit of emotional acknowledgement too, very sweet

I Got You Babe by @mothermercury another smut for these pair, this time fem and set in Woodstock, very interesting story though, its not all sex

Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair by @mysticanni a really fun hippie commune meet cute start of relationship story that is totally worth the read.

You Take My Breath Away by @0-primejive-0 , a dynamic look into the relationship when the two are at different stages about becoming public with it.

A Kind Of Magical Adventure (and he spiders from Mars) by @its-our-paris, a podfic that mixes in Doctor who and the Queen fandom seamlessly with some classic who references to geek over (I certainly did).

dominos by @grahamcockroach (I really hope this gets/ has a continuation), Roger contemplates his sexuality through the years.

Employee of the Month by @emmaandorlando very funny drunk Roger and Freddie moments while working at maccies.

The Lines Of Your Presence By @pumpkinlilyao3 honestly such a sweet drawing/ artsy fic.

A Castle Fit for Sir Queen by @trixie-bobwhite, some heart felt Freddie lives au.

Red, White and You by @freddiepoos a very in detail take on the relationship and its intricacies.

Heavenly by @sirenlovesqueen , a pretty confessions tale, heart warming really.

Time by @aboutthatmelancholystorm a funny one based on poor time keeping.

Birthday by @queenofneworleans22 - some fluffy chaos on Freddie’s birthday.

It won’t Be Like This For Long by @mothermercury - Brian and Freddie and their pet children, and the longing for real children.

Dark Fabrics and Winged Sleeves by @trinikins , very cute Frian story about buying new clothes.

But Touch My Tears by @plainxte, an endearing soulmates au with heartwarming interactions between them all, mixing together angst and happiness in this unforgettable blend.

sleepy stars by @dusty-drabbles supernatural meets fluff and cuddles, very soft.

Under Cover of Darkness by @lettersinthesand39, a very simple question sparks the start of something new.

When he kissed the teacher by @freesiafields, Jimmy has a new art teacher that his dad accidentally ends up dating, classic trope fantastically executed.

can’t do this to me by @peachydeacon, a angry smut fic filled with angst.

what if i’m down? what if i’m out by @salazarsslytherin, a deep post breaky up to potential rekindling fic that is beyond brilliant.

down to earth by @sammyspreadyourwings - a cutesy short fem Maylor fluff ball

Easy to ignore by sweetillusions, explores Brian’s mental health issues and how Roger helps him with them

Endless, Nameless by MeddowsKingRat, some mysterious occurrences on Halloween confuse the boys as they try to get to Winifred’s house.

And So It Was by 1f-this-be-madness, pre-relationship fluff with Roger just being the sweetest human being ever.

Now today I know what I’m doing by @valesweetdreams, an early smile era trust issues fic.

holy moses (let us live in peace) by @drowseroger, an Easter story the proceeds drunk antics, but Brian and Roger’s relationship is just sweet.

Angel of Small Death by @shittyschoolsays , a fem maylor angst and smut fic with unrequited love to boot.

the bitterest part of love by sanguination, very short and in Roger’s perspective, but a good example of stream of consciousness in literature.

Its a Kind of Magic Eight Ball by Kato(WritersCoven), a fun one with Roger trying to teach Brian how to play pool, lots of innuendos.

A Christmas Proposal by @killerqueengigi very cute seasonal proposal, does what it says on the tin.

Gettin’ Smile by @meddows-taylor shows the boys and their friendship with Tim, very sweet and very inteligently written!

You Were Minding Your Own Business by @mysticanni - some fun voodoo adventures for the pair

The Beat Of His Wings by @its-our-paris - a podfic but well worth the listen!

those strawberry fields by @iamnotbrianmay, a cutesy fem dealor fic set at ridge farm.

Come back to me, oh my love by @xsheerheartattackx - very bloody sad but so so touching, I really hope there is some kind of closure for this!

Wrong Tea, Right Barista by @hudsteith, a classic coffee shop au with amazingly charismatic characters and beautifully written relationships.

Teo Torriatte by orangetrees, a poem this time, taken from John’s perspective, well written and insightful

Surprise by @rhohemian-bapsody, a funny little story about a birthday cake disaster.

find what you love and let it kill you by @freddiesfreak , sad at the end but theres a lot of good moments in it as their relationship evolves.

I already found somebody to love by @suchalongaway76, some early relationship fun with fluff and smut, very well written.

Sang Pour Sang by @livingonmyown, just incredibly cute mpreg story, really great ending.

chicken corn soup by anon is a very lovely sick fic, sadly orphaned though.

Ruined by @yasmamamercury, just smut and spanking but it’s well written, worth the read.

Elevator Shenanigans by Sisila_galad, another meet cute between electrician John and Freddie.

if the sun is shining, stand in it by @starrydrowse - a lovely fem breaky pregnancy and kids fic that is honestly just so heart warming.

She Can Lead You To Love by @queenies-bug , another fem fic, with Joanna enlisting help to prepare for her first time.

Cold Nights, Warm Dreams by @yasmamamercury, the boys get snowed in and have to share a bed trope but it’s a masterpiece.

Timing by e_is_better_then_a, a hot space near-break-up mpreg fic, very cute.

Last in Line, First to Mind by ahopper84 is an adorable first kiss breaky abo universe fic.

Found A Way Through by @runningfortocome set after Freddie’s passing with brian and John helping each other cope through the grief.

You’ll be Okay By @sirenlovesqueen - a fem poly fic set after Regina’s relationship with Tiffany (Tim) has ended, lots of fluff (poly but it’s more platonic than anything else)

i left so i could meet you by @sammyspreadyourwings - very interesting take on Vampires, with immortal john leaving to find the boys (could be read as platonic)

The First Sunrise Of Autumn by anonymous, Roger going missing creates the set up for this warm and loving work that really portrays their

First responder by Toinette93, a car crash Roger fic with a harrowing new memory for the drummer.

It’s A Free World by deakysrog Very sweet take on Ace John and how he fits in with the other boys.

Morning Routines by @rushingheadlong, very inteligently written, poly Roger/Brian/Freddie early days.

Sisters of the Moon by @sweetestsight, a fem poly magic/ cult fic? yes please.

Bonding Experience by @trinikins a short sweet cuddly story to make you do the big eyed emoji face.

Bullets Rip to the Sound of the Beat (Look out!) by 1f_this_be_madness, another platonic with Freddie being a story teller in light of John’s cowboy song.

Oh, You Make Me Wonder by glam_mcgee has Brian let John into his relationship with Freddie in a three way poly.

Other

Faith by @aboutthatmelancholystorm - an interesting story taken from Freddie’s perspective, no ships but its written really intelligently.

The Stars Of Lovingness In Her Hair by @bambirexwrites, its a Jimercury fic that’s part of a series (which i recommend as a whole), but it works well alone, lots of cute fluff really

I Just Wanna Testify by thebrightestbird, Marc Bolan and Roger Taylor? a rare chaotic ship I am happy to invest my soul into, brilliant short fic.

Loverboy by MagicalQueerFolk a Jimercury meetcute with some morning after fluff

A Study In Red by Toinette93 - a look into the relationship between Brian and his instrument, taken from the guitar’s perspective.

A postmortem Education by @rushingheadlong - an insightful story from Roger’s perspective about death and the relevence of life in contrast to it.

Kitten Blues by MeddowsKingRat, a fun Taytay story about their cat ziggy.

Two Lines by @bambirexwrites, as above, very cute family moments that fem jimercury share.

When You’re Not Here With Me (How Am I Supposed To Breath) by clownchronicles, a Maylor break up fic, Roger’s not the best character in this but the friendship between the remaining three is so sweet.

Top ten

counting your face among the living by @bisexualroger - if anyone knows who wrote this pass alone that I loved it, easily my favourite fic of the year, a Maylor vampire fic that investigates the impact of supernatural abilities on a relationship, with hilarious highs and bone shuddering angst ridden lows that force you to follow it word by word. Amazing, truly.

Momento Mori by @mercurymaemeddows , a beautifully written piece in Roger’s perspective, very emotional and deeply moving, platonically Poly, but the bonds and relationships are perfected.

If I Saw You In Heaven by @0-primejive-0 a painfully enchanting heart wrenching story about Roger’s attempted last visit to see Freddie, one of the hardest piece to read, but worth ever second.

Dame aux Camellias by @aboutnothingness a froger fic about love that never quite worked out, and Roger’s deep reflections on Freddie’s life and death and their relationship, truly beguiling to read.

doc, there’s a hole where something was by TimeTurnedFragile explores the lives of the boys in the midst of various mental health scenarios, sort of love in the asylum type of thing, but an enchanting read with charming characterisations.

Silent Tears by @softnsquishable, the remarkable love story between roger and deaf Brian and how they cope with the news of their pregnancy, very cute.

Stealin’ by killerjoe1995, a very funny work about two teams of thieves stumbling into eachother at a heist, with John and Roger somehow finding themselves crushing despite being on opposing sides.

Triptych by @freddieofhearts, I just found this fascinating, an amazing take on Fred’s life and the events that happen with a very respectful but insightful style and voice to it, brilliant really.

With A Faery (Hand In Hand) by @i-lay-my-life-before-queen, with delicate imagery and emotive language, this story fantastically tells the tale of how Faery Brian is saved by the rebels, falling for Freddie too.

it’s all over now, baby blue by cicadas is the story of how maylor and deacury form in a mental hospital, and how those relationships develop through their eating disorders and woes.
