happy new year everyone <3

2024 is here now, and even though i know not many people are gonna see this, and those who will are probably not gonna want to read a long ass post — but i just want to shout a few words out in the open as 2024 steps into our lives, in hopes that if anyone at all is listening, it will make them feel something, realize something, want something.

so whoever is reading this,

i hope that you enter this year with open heart, mind and arms. i know 2023 was tough, and lovely, and heart-rending and devastating, and beautiful, and full of hardships, and everything all at once. and you probably fell in love or had a crush and lost people and gained some and went through many changes, or maybe none of that happened and everything stayed pretty much the same — but whatever it might have been, i hope that you are able to leave it all behind. not in the forget it all way, but rather in the keep them tucked away safely in another box or room in the house called memories that you own, type of way.

this is the start of a new beginning, a breaking dawn, and i want you to accept it in. i hope you can leave all the painful and the lingering bitter taste of the hardships and the regrets, and the longings, and the desperate times, and the heartbreaks here. let them stay in 2023, let them find their home here so they do not follow you into 2024.

welcome this new year and let it be full of fresh starts, and new people, and falling in love, and crushing on strangers, and risking it all, and stepping out of your comfort zone, and making a change, and everything else that life has to offer.

live this year like it’s your first and last at the same time, and let regrets, longings, heartbreaks, falling in love, crushing over people, making friends, losing some, and everything else that is bound to happen, happen again. let them take place again in a brand new way and let yourself enjoy and live through it all.

i think that is what it means to live. i think that is what a new year should be like.

and i want to live, and so i will.

MARK. pulls you into his lap and just holds you like that, gazing at you while you talk about your day and tell him about whatever. he loves listening to you and he loves having you sat on him even more; your back pressed against his chest, his hand caressing your hair as he smiles at you fondly. it’s something that happens almost everyday, you’ve gotten so used to it now.

RENJUN. loves loves loves patting your head and loves getting it in return even more. it might not seem like much but it’s a very sweet way of showing affection to someone, it’s saying “good job. i’m proud of you” through touch, it’s telling the other person that you find them cute and that they’re precious wordlessly. so he gives you headpats ever so often and you give them to him right back, a stupid grin seen on both your faces after, everytime.

JENO. has his arm wrapped securely around your waist when you’re hugging or standing side-by-side. he thinks he shows that you’re both taken, that you’re, unfortunately, not avaible for any other—and it does. he’s not just trying to show possession though, no, it’s something that reassures him you’re next to him and safe. and he makes sure he’s not holding you too tight in any way, being so gentle and careful with his touches when it comes to you.

HAECHAN. randomly comes up to you for a back hug and proceeds to just snuggle his head into your back, shoulder or neck (depending on your height <3). if you’re tiny, he rests his chin on your head while pulling you into him :( and he often kisses you like that, wherever he can reach, and tickles you sometimes too, just to get a giggle out of you because he’s absolutely in love with it. he is very affectionate and is not afraid to show it, you love that about him.

JAEMIN. gives you forehead kisses very, very often; before he leaves for work, before you leave for it, when you meet-up after a long while, when you’re simply... having a soft moment. in fact, you could be cuddling as usual when he suddenly leaves a tiny peck on your forehead followed by a little squeeze, holding you closer against him. neither of you say anything, choosing to silently enjoy the moment instead, but in your heads you’re both screaming over how much you’re in love with each other.

CHENLE. likes to engulf you in a big hug, almost suffocating you, he wraps his arms around you completely so that you’re basically sitting on him now and peppers you in kisses. and usually, he just sways you both side to side softly and has his cheek squished because of how he’s leaning onto you <\3 it’s a sweet moment that happens in your relationship so much it’s become a regular thing at this point.

JISUNG. gets a bit shy with openly kissing you or hugging you sometimes, and at moments like that, he chooses to reach for your hand, sometimes grabbing you only by your fingertips so gently, sometimes taking it properly, firmly before bringing it up to his lips so he can give it a quick kiss. afterwards, he normally throws you an adorable smile and continues about his day and acts like he didn’t just make your heart burst with his cuteness.

it’s early in the morning when you wake up to find him already awake and staring at you. he has one arm wrapped around you, your head falling onto his chest, and he has this whipped grin on his face as he tiredly plays with your hair, and that’s when you push your face up, closer against his—you catch a glimpse of him closing his eyes—and peck his nose. then he just laughs and goes “what was that”, calling you cute over and over again.

he’s really just chilling, watching something on his phone as he lays on the bed, when you randomly choose to walk up to him, grab his face in your hands and press a tender kiss onto his nose. he goes completely quiet for a moment, blinking confusedly, before breaking out in the softest smile. he throws his phone to the side and instead, pulls you into him by the shoulder as he kisses your temple in return.

JENO ☆

you’re cuddling on the couch as a movie of your pick plays on the tv screen when a funny scene comes up and jeno giggles. he’s only laughing, yet, it manages to pull at your heartstrings and you find yourself wanting to kiss the life out of the man besides you. but you hold back, giving him a kiss on the nose instead, and he turns to smile so sweetly at you, his eyesmile in clear view, before he leans down to peck your nose right back.

HAECHAN ☆

he’s playing games on his computer when you feel this sudden wave of love hit you and you’re all touch-starved and full of love to give now. it results in you quietly sneak into his room to go up and snake your arms around him in a back-hug as he’s sitting on his chair. he gives you a quick smile but turns right back to the screen to continue playing, and you, being the patient person you were, decide to let him complete the round, though not really letting go of your hold on his back the entire time. and when he finally wins, he doesn’t even get the chance to tell you about it, you’ve already grabbed his face with your sweater paws and placed a very wholesome kiss on the tip of his nose. the next thing you know, you’re getting attacked showered in kisses by him.

JAEMIN ☆

you were babbling on about something that happened the other day, when you hear jisung softly muttering a “cute.” under his breath as he listened on to you. he has this fond look in his eyes as he looks at you, and all you were doing was just telling him the gossip of yesterday???? you pause the talk, instead, reaching your hand out to grab his face and pull him in to give a peck on the nose, because how could you resist the urge to kiss such a pretty man, right? when you pull away, you’re met with the boy blushing in a disgustingly adorable way, and you find that now, it’s your turn to say “cute.”

summary: wherein, it’s a late afternoon and you’re watching your favorite series with your dearest boyfriend as you cuddle on the couch, but it seems that it’s physically impossible for you to keep your attention fixed on the large monitor in front of you, and not him.

the tv playing in the background starts to feel like white noises and slowly fades off into the void as your gaze stays fixed on donghyuck. his eyes are focused on the screen in front of him, but you find that you’re unable to tear yours away from his figure. his face glistens in the dim light, and the golden light radiating off of the sun that’s currently putting itself to sleep now comes in through the windows and reflects the room around you in a soft orange glow.

so this is what they call the golden hour, it hits you.

if there’s one thing that you’ve realized in these years of dating hyuck, it is that, whenever you’re with him, time seems to go by so fast—that it becomes a blur, something that falls in between the lines, something that fades off in the background, something that doesn’t matter. what really matters, every time, is him, and only him. 

you remember the time you told him that, using weak, broken constellations of words that didn’t—and could never—live up to the actual intimate emotion you felt for him. and he’d teased you, gushed endlessly about how deeply in love you were with him, and you’d huffed at his antics, but never once did you try to say a word against it. because he was right, after all. you were in love with him, deeply, more than you ever would’ve thought was possible.

and the smug in his tone is annoying to the very core, but you can’t even find anything to say against his teasing. he is right anyway, though you would never admit that to his face. even with your favorite characters and plot unraveling right there in front of you, all your attention was on him, on lee donghyuck. this man, whom you see almost everyday, whom you text and facetime so regularly, whose features you have memorised and admired too many times to count.

you should’ve been so used to him and being with him at this point, but somehow, you still could never look away.
