Spooky boy got a ghool up.

The image on the right was an initial sketch i created, during my internship at Asda. I couldn’t finalise it then, but it always wanted to revisit this idea.

I like the way he came out, he’s so cute and the original colour palette works so well.

*Tweak colours in procreate after finishing the piece, it looks a little lighter than i originally intended.

Really enjoyed scribbling in my backgrounds, this all started when i started thinking about the odd ways i would show physcial affection towards my friends/ thinking about odd behaviour i would exhibit towards them.

The most odd ones were with my tall friends, these are all the sketches for it - i don’t think i’ll be making anymore with this particular friend.

Holy trinity of profanity glasses.

It all started with the image on the far left, drew an image of myself in glasses because i felt and looked cool. I was worried about uploading swearing/inappropriate content because the majority of my work is child friendly?

Self censoring is a weird thing.

This was back in 2017.

I drew it because i wanted to revist the idea, and i  wanted to vent some anger. The leather jacket and spikes felt unnecessary, i don’t need those elements to feel cool. So i left them out.

In termds of the right image, my friend saw the middle one and stated he preferred the original. I assumed this was because of the more badass qualities in the original, and he agreed.

Then the idea of him taking on the more badass attributes came to mind, the right image is supposed to be a joke. I like the way it looks.

Left is May 2019 vs right of jan 2020.

*I don’t know why i’ve always drawn Macho man as a wrestling Jesus, i based my designs/illustrations based on a toy i own of him.

Initially i just wanted to tweak and correct Macho man’s chest, as his biceps look very flat and i didn’t connect them to the armpit. Which then lead me to redrawing this piece of work. 

I noticed that i keep wanting to shade and draw things semi realistically, i avoided this for so long because i assumed i could never do this sort of thing. But i’ve been learning and leaning into it more and more over the years - i think this piece is a nice reflection of this thought i’ve had.

Anyway, i still have a lot to work on but it’s nice to feel like my studying (bare minimum) is showing results and a better understanding of anatomy.

But most importantly, i forgot how fun it is to draw macho man and draw from my tablet. The ipad is great and all, but i haven’t fully gotten comfortable with it just yet, i’m glad it hasn’t replaced my tablet entirely.

These are my personal favourites of 2019, unfortunately most of the pieces picked were created later on in the year.

I hope i continue to challenge myself and work on creating more finished pieces.

It’s taken awhile to start creating work i feel proud of, rather than trying to please people and tutors at uni.

The left is my first sketch on procreate (before i got the apple pencil), i really liked how this digital finger painting turned out. I wanted to rework this, since the colour palette was so cool. Though this would fit perfectly into the world of Mob Psycho 100.

Right is my attempt at refining this image, backgrounds are intimidating to me - so this was a challenge, and i’m proud of this. I’ve pushed myself and i think it’s a good step at learning how to make more finished pieces.

I still feel like this is unfinished, i’m going to leave it as it is - since i’m not quite sure where to go next.

Another silly comic - a semi true story. The girl who shouted at me is actually a nice girl, she was just trying to concentrate while i was trying to cough my organs out of my body.

Hope people enjoy this? I’m starting to enjoy making these little comics, not sure if i’ll make another one, depends if i have a new idea.
