Part Five
(As per the others tried reading without bias, took down notes as I went through it. Just took a break from sharing them: haven't even tried rereading the book/never not even for a million dollars and comfortable life)
1. "My tastes are universal." And the easy conversation response he got. I appreciate that. Like an little bit of occasional things reading this that have me go 'wow I am shocked this even could be in with the rest'
2. Sexy 16 year old vampire why just why. Drinking and... This is hard to not compare to stuff from the other books... Or sneer at.
3. Of course Magnus would think her pretty ugh it makes me feel sick when I get to read lines of that nature.
4. Yes! Big uses of magic, Magnus being an badass. Loyalty. Being decisive and acting against nonsense.
5. Oh no 4 dressed people in his bed. Such an let down whatever will he do. Vaguely amusing all the same or maybe I would take an lot over the whole 'pretty 15 year old' creepiness.
6. Alfie and him interacting is amusing. Plus the still being out of it I guess. And the whole room service thing.
7. Oh please Magnus even hungover could be decent and give a care. About an acquaintance. One who just didn't bat an eye about him being bisexual. But sure whatever write it as if some chore.
8. Heh stolen police car tires as an present to him. That's great.
9. I waited for till the end without many notable comments or annoying incidents worth thinking of. Also figured it was Camille no real shocker there.

Bad Writers of YA be like:
-This age group is 12-18? But also younger, focused on the younger age end of things because lots of kids have high reading levels I don’t know what you’re talking about
-I’m a grown adult who really wants to include as much explicit material is feasible what do you mean adult books are for that content? Not having teenagers doing it page after page? That’s not possible
-Hmm toxic relationships? Stories centered around bad romances? This can’t possibly sway young impressionable minds at all. Not like it’s in pretty much every single book.
-Ah yes the magical girl, stalked and tasked to be captured by the “bad guy” love interest.
-Adults are overrated
-Parties! Everybody loves good old drinking, especially at uhhh 14 years old but shh we don’t talk about how young these characters are.
-Her skin was as pale as the freshly fallen snow, hair as black as the raven’s backside. He was broody, tall and lean with hair golden like the sun. Eyes blue as the bluest sapphire. (Or any combination of this nonsense)
-I mean it’s Technically Not Inc*est
-We’re going to have racism but like from the aspect of the “superior” race
-Recycling the same ideas that everybody else is publishing just with different names because surely publishing 50+ fantasy, magic stories of a magical princess ending up with the person tasked to kill her who actually violently hurts her several times is Fascinating. Original content.

I saw your post about the bane chronicles how was there biphobia?
Keep in mind I haven’t read it for a while (Late on posting the different thoughts for trying to read it without bias/different parts).
So I don’t remember exactly. I recall it was a plot device thing where Magnus didn’t immediately fall for a young girl who was supposed to be like bait? For him something of that matter. Which led to some snide/snarky nonsense like ‘oh well I thought he liked anything that breathed’ from what I remember.
It’s a common theme in all her books more or less she’s always written Magnus heavily stereotyped/terribly and an lot of ‘ha ha he’s bi so he has to be told and make a pact to not fall for teenagers, etc garbage’.

People: Well uh the writers been writing this book for years, writing about it long before the show did.
Me a writer: You do realize that if it isn't published, you can change things. That you could see a fan theory and be like 'hmm good idea'. Or see popularity in the 'mistake version' and try capitalizing off its success and good things you suck at.

Writer's stop being 'oh I head canon my character as uhh not liking labels'. Or being too lazy to actually write a character as gay, etc. Willing to make a tweet to be progressive sounding but then couldn't bother write it for real.

Hey I saw your post about the Rick Riordan and Cassandra Clare arguing thing. Would have have links or screenshots about the whole thing that went down? Thanks!
I don’t- I saw it from somebody’s post with screenshots ages but didn’t save it or anything. Plus knowing cc she probably deleted the tweet/Rick didn’t directly mention her in his tweet.
Also was a year or so ago when it happened.

Some people grow up, but don't grow out of that gross 'omg gay fanfics, gays wow who tops and who bottoms' mentality and it shows a lot.
Just please be conscious about that stuff? Especially if you're a wlw- still can be guilty of Gross behavior. Just like mlm can have Gross behavior towards wlw, etc.
So be respectful in general don't overtly fetish or sexualize people. Especially if you're say a lesbian, and the character is a gay man.

Part Four
(As per the others this is just my thoughts and I did try being unbiased. All is for fun, no offense intended. -T/BC)
1. Gold eyes, black hair and here is another Herondale as is to be expected... Also the whole boy thing seriously use ages? Or something swear I get uncomfortable with that ambiguity and Magnus being all observant to how people look then saying boy is... No thanks
2. Oh so he is 17 thank you for an age. But also 17 year old with a gun? And oh he just shot somebody great wood leg or not. And Ragnor encouraged the first at the least outburst wise... Because surely the person warning Magnus off of trouble would...
3. Drunken 17 year old... Ragnor supplying wine wow there is so much wrong with it but moving on.
4. Of course Magnus would flirt with Will... And Tessa just says to keep with it? Somebody hand me an knife to gouge out my eyes. Then Magnus is like of course I will keep doing so after after an break.
5. Did I just start upon the intermingling of the nephilim families, etc which sparks so much debate? I'm going to skip over it and leave that for others to debate.
6. Ah yes parabatis. Must mention it every other paragraph in case the reader forgets that James is bound to Matthew. And that they are parabati. Oh did I forget to say they are parabati?
7. Ay, Brother Zachariah and Jem getting better than I heard he did in the book series he was part of. This reunion stuff breaks up the monotony of everything else.
8. Ha the red string of fate reference that made me laugh because honestly wonder where that came from? Surely an 'ancient' legend unused before. *my odd bitterness aside clever*
9. Ah yes the parabati thing we get that they were.. And italicizing it is a bit well extreme.
10. Sexualizing an young girl... (Pages 184 to 185)
11. Biphobia or uh bigotry in general. Just because Magnus stepped and did the decent thing of not falling head over heels for the girl. I gagged. But decent writing enough.
12. Tossing in stuff about Camille ugh at least its an reminiscing on her being no good for him.
13. Eerie, good plot scenery and atmospheric details. Doesn't seem too fancy which is good. (Page 188)
14. Magnus being hired? As a killer? By an Shadowhunter against Shadowhunters okay loops one in. And the jokes about her being an lampshade, etc is kinda funny. More slightly offensive allergories one could sense aside.
15. He is being reasonable. Rational. Only took pages and pages for it. In a large volume as opposed briefly.
16. Okay that quip about not being able to afford him was good.
17. Interesting metaphor for the heartbreak of James and about Grace not going to lie vaguely poetic in some ways.

Me watching "jokes" fill 1 fandoms tag: *crickets chirping*
Anyways what is with people like 'well as a lesbian, bisexual person-' then acting like the lead authority on men who like men????
And sexualizing so damn much? Fetishing? Also they dragged a trans hc for the character into their gross bs.
Makes that 1 persons kink nonsense in the tag more appealing tbh.

Klaus falling and rolling off the couch onto the floor: Oof

nancyloumm‌:
True, Magnus did look a bit shocked when Lorenzo became a lizard.
It would seem that Lorenzo is human before they rescue Magnus, according to the photos. I hope this little venture of Lorenzo’s has taught him a lesson or two.
Yeah I believe Alec, and Caterina turn him back. Hopefully Lorenzo learns something from it/doesn’t just lash out at Magnus for his father’s choice of action. But who knows.
