So, you're dead. Want to do God a favor, so you can have an excellent afterlife? A veteran actress gets hired by Heaven to play the role of Duchess in another realm, with another secret agent as her partner. Nothing goes as planned. Her partner, the Duke, knows nothing of the plan and he's madly in love with her. How will she find time to fulfill God's wish, with him hot on her heels?

Elise was born a sad orphan, but she made her life great. She became a successful actress, and she still managed to keep her old friends in her life.

She's beautiful. She worked hard. She's perfect. She didn’t forget about the little people along the way. The first chapter is literally her covered in gold and compliments....

....but sadly she is terminally ill. With six months left.

Her best friend murders her too, for unknown reasons. How unfair. She fought day and night to be somebody, and she died alone like everyone else. She felt alone, when the man she trusted the most shoved a poison needle into her.

Heaven tells her to play the role of Duchess Elise. She is a famous beauty who uses her body to seduce and torment her stepbrother. Her poor husband, Blake, is a background character who defends her out of duty. Elise must torment the incoming protagonist as well, by using Blake's good name to get away with bullying.

So, why is she here?

The Gods seem to control all realities here. They want their "stories" to end the right way, so they hire actors to ensure that their favorite main characters become happy.

Duke Blake is a cold and dutiful man. The angelic angel inside him doesn't have many lines in the script. Elise thinks he's on her side. She thinks he's a great actor, but that's not it. There is no agent inside the Duke, and the character has gone wrong.

He loves his wife. She is not just a partner to him.

She finally realizes he's not a fellow actor when he throws her on the bed. All of his romantic lines seem so real. They are.

Her angel partner is inside Lucas, the main character, which is very bad. The Upper Realm wants the story to go as planned. That cannot happen with an angel inside the male lead. Angels are bad actors. That's why Elise got hired. Angels play only the most minor of roles. They are supposed to observe for the gods. Lucas can't act for shit. Elise has to teach him in secret, and her husband gets jealous as a consequence.

Actually, he gets very jealous.

Elise was originally killed by her best friend Cain. Cain drank poison right after he murdered her. It's starting to look like her followed her into the other realm. He's the one messing up the story. He's doing it to be with her. Duchess Elise is healthy, rich and beautiful. She's not sick like old Elise. Cain did something to get Elise a new body.

The Gods even mention this is a problem. Transmigrators have been bending various realities to get the lives they desire, and it's a problem for the gods, because humans are supposed to die. It's cheating when their spirit floats off to rule a kingdom somewhere else.

By the way if this theory is true Cain is an extreme yandere, because he's lying. He is pretending to be Blake, and he's very controlling.

Elise is not an angel. This is her first and only mission. Her only chance to get a favor from God. She wants to send Cain to hell as her reward. She has no clue why her friend would murder her. He knew about her incoming death. He didn't let her enjoy her last precious days. She wants revenge.

The angel must start acting like Lucas. The story is about to fly off course. The Prince is wrong. The royal succession is already a mess. The Prince was supposed to be an evil womanizer, but someone else is in the princely seat now.

Elise tries to teach in between possessive arguments with Blake.

I'm kinda surprised that she hasn't guessed the truth yet. Blake is too obsessed with her.

She kisses Lucas to follow the script.

By the way, Elise has no feelings for Blake. She thinks he is the perfect man and stuff, but she's here on a mission. She knows she won't be here forever. Currying favor with God is way more important. More possessive things happen after the kiss.....and Elise gets a brilliant idea...

....it's very dumb.

She decides to use Blake, who seems loyal, to fix the holes in the story. She is going to flirt with him, and seduce him more, even though she sees him as a tool.

That's going to backfire.

I finished reading the atlas paradox

and now you're subjected to my SPOILERY thoughts.

Parisa Kamali: I love Parisa, I have loved her since the first book. I LIKE HER SO MUCH she's funny she's mean she's cool she's kind. She's incredibly powerful. She's so interesting and I really enjoyed how she slowly became "her royal softness". Whenever we have her pov it's so fun. I love how she's not scared of Atlas and how she challenged him. I can't wait to see what she does in the next book. I'm actually excited to see how Dalton has changed and how she reacts to them in the next book. Her relationship with Nico makes me so feel so nice. I also need her to be kiss Reina sometime in the next book.

Nico de Varona: he's been my annoying lil baby since the first book. I loved how he became more fleshed out in this book. I loved how lonely he got, his relationship with Reina and Tristan really intrigues me. HE'S SUCH A CHILD sometimes and I love him for it. Obviously I have spent the two books insane bc I knew he was in love with Gideon, I just knew it and they're just *chef's kiss* also speaking of his relationship with people, I think him and Libby will be stunning as besties, I truly cannot perceive them as romantic. They act so sibling like or even just asshole bestie like.

Reina Mori: when we started with this series I actually had more hopes from her. I feel like she didn't do much (especially in book 2) and my girl really doesn't understand communication. If she just talked to people sigh. But honestly her God thing, I am down. Go off, I'm excited to see her go off the rails bc people didn't talk to her the way she could have understood. I am low-key in love with how funny the duo of Reina and Callum is, tbh. I also get major ace vibes from her.

Libby Rhodes: honestly she was my second least favourite amount the six when we started. She desperately needed the corruption arc we got in the later half of the book. I think I will like her a lot more now. Her crush on belen was stunning to read. I can't wait for Libby to fuck shit up, literally fuck everyone up. And I genuinely truly deeply want her relationship with Nico to just be friendship. Friendships are equally as important and the fact that the universe made them parallel to eachother is my favourite thing.

Callum Nova: honestly I didn't really like him much during the first book, he was fine but we had more interesting characters. BUT DAMN CALLUM NOVA POST HEARTBREAK?? ~~ exquisite ~~ he's so fucking funny and hopeless and sad and pathetic. he is so desperate for love and so upset that he was denied it. He's my pathetic lil meow meow. Also I would LOVE to see him use his powers more in the future. As we keep learning about it, I keep loving him. Also I need Tristan to beg Callum to take him back.

Tristan Caine: actually I didn't enjoy his povs at all in the first book, I couldn't wait for them to be over. He is still my least favourite among the six but in the second book he was more interesting and fun. I'm a lil anxious of how Atlas is gonna use him and his powers. I don't care much of him but I want him to beg Callum or regret it for the rest of his existence. Also I hate LibbyTristan as a romantic permanent thing, they can fuck around and have fun but pls end at that.

Gideon Drake: I have loved him since day 1. He was the softer kinder balance to Nico's aggressive and abrasiveness. He is so interesting, his origin and his powers. I spent both the book wishing we had more of him. Now that we are out of the library maybe he'll get to play a more active role in the book. I am obsessed with Gideon (bc Nico is obsessed with Gideon) I love the tidbits we learn about Gideon like how Libby always liked him more or how max travelled with him for the rescue of the "prince". I want Gideon to have everything he wants, that's all.

Atlas Blakeley: I have been think of Giancarlo Esposito as Atlas the entire time. There's no explanation it's just vibes

Out of curiosity, do you have a set number of children you envision Adam and Reader having post-College AU, or is it open to interpretation? I don't mind either way, I'm asking because my mythology-obsessed ass couldn't help but envision the kids in your recent one-shot being your AU's versions/equivalents of Adam's kids in biblical lore (sources vary, but the most common number from what I've found is 5-6 kids, 3 boys and 2 or 3 girls), with the eldest son Adam fought with being Cain ofc. XD Not sure if that was what you were going for, just wanted to share if that's ok. Love your College AU fics so much btw!

I'm super entranced by Ethel Cains 'Inbred'. Hear me out. Feyd to that song... He's just so religious satire and cannibalism as a form of love language coded. 'Touch me till i vomit' and 'He's so good to me and to nobody else, so you can fuck yourself' or 'If he wakes up, He'll show you what I'm talking about' STOOOOOOOOOOPPP fuming at the mouth

[I understood this are just thoughts about character, not a request, so if I'm wrong, please correct me. I suck at understanding intentions and anything that isn't put plain lol]

Unfortunately I don't listen to Ethel Cain (I heard her, just not my type of music) but you got me at cannibalism as a form of love. I love all the cannibalistic, gore, violent metaphors, idk maybe it's because I just like a man covered in blood, maybe because that how love feels when you're mentally ill.

Okay, so I'm checking my collection of cannibalism/love posts and somehow I forgot that I literally kept a screenshot of Ethel Cain herself.

Though I didn't think about religious satire before. I mean, I only wondered how much he knew about his role in Bene Gesserit's plans and whether it was any different for him than pressure of being an heir to house Harkonnen. So hard to say how he felt about being an important step in plan to create Kwisatz Haderach but I often compare his relations with people to biblical stories (I'm not Christian anymore but that's what growing up in religious household does to a mf). Like him and Paul, like Jesus and John the Baptist. Both born in the same time, both destined by God to great things. But no matter his talents and skills, he was the second. I don't know how much Frank Herbert was inspired by the Bible and how much it's my obsession with christian symbolism but also: especially Paul but also Feyd as important part of Kwisatz Haderach plan, remind me about Jesus and Isaac. Promised by God, special ones, admired, destined to great things, but also supposed to be sacrificed.

And Feyd and Rabban remind me about a few cases of siblings in the Bible, but mostly Cain and Abel? Elder brother jealous and bitter than the younger is God's favourite, that whatever Abel does is appreciated and praised, meanwhile efforts of Cain keep being rejected. There's a popular picture (bc Bible doesn't explain how God expressed his opinions on the offerings) that when they burnt their offerings for Lord, smoke from Abel's offering rised to the Heaven, showing that his gift was accepted and that Abel was worthy in God's eyes. Meanwhile smoke from Cain's offering floated downward. And I am just like. Yeah, that's Rabban and Feyd. And also Joseph and his brothers when he had dreams that all his siblings will bow to him...

Okay, I think I should stop here because I wandered out off topic and tbh I could continue this monologue about Dune/Bible correlation for a long, long time.

Apart from all my incoherent ramblings, I checked that song, and yeah... this is so Feyd (even the title, bc I suppose that in Dune marriages between close family in noble houses were rather popular; after all they wanted Feyd to marry Jessica's daughter, that would be his close cousin. Let me tell you, my family is from small village and for many generations there were marriages between close cousins, and if nobody stopped my grandma, she would marry family too. Marcelle weirdly makes me feel sad. Not because she's my favorite chracter; its hard to feel forgiving with the little we know she's done so far. But its like watching someone preparing themselves to selfdestruct and knowing that you can't help them because they've already proven they are unwilling to change course and now you can only watch them continue to spiral downward, wondering if the end goal will be really worth all the sacrifices.

Listen: no one has as many complicated emotions for Marcelle as I do. She is honestly one of the most tragic characters I have ever written, and thinking about her generally makes me so, so sad. But all the hate people have for her? The burning anger? I understand it, too. Because Marcelle is really, really not a good person with what she's done, either.

I can't say much more about her-- it's imperative I keep any info about her as vague and limited a possible. But I can say this is a road she's been going down for such a long, long time. And, as the author, sometimes I look at Marcelle and then see the little girl she used to be 40 or 50 some years ago. Because yes, I'm writing the tragedy of the Commander, but at the same, in order to write this story, I've had to write the story of a little girl in Plaithus becoming heir and not understanding the monumentous weight that has been put on her shoulders.

• I didn't have school today yay! But I did have school assignments to do. I didn't complete one fully since I couldn't find the motivation to do it so I'll probably have to do it in lunch, I don't mind tho cuz I get to listen to my music !!

• It was a really nice day and I almost rotted the day away in bed but @heavenlyangels02 convinced me to go outside so I did!! I'm really glad I did cuz it felt so relaxing. I started to re-read Heaven by Mieko Kawakami since I couldn't remember where I stopped plus I wanted to annotate it. Also does bullying really go undetected in Japan? These kids are literally making him drink chalk water and swallow random shit...

• While I was reading I was listening to Preacher's Daughter by Ethel Cain and OH MY GOD!!!!! THE LORE IS FUCKING CRAZY LIKE....I got into it thanks to @julia-bonkers it's my new obsession now. My fav song from the album is House In Nebraska but my fav lyric is "God loves you but not enough to save you." it just hits so close to home it's crazy

• by then I think it was 5 pm and my dad needed to go on errands so I went with him! I was so lucky enough to find the Tragic Kingdom CD by No Doubt on my spring break so I played the CD for the first time in the car!! I only new two songs going into it, Excuse Me Mr and I'm Just a Girl, but the rest of the album is so good!!! After, we stopped by IHOP and I got the cali roasted turkey melt with mango lemonade it was so yummyyy.When I got home I immediately went to bed and went onto yt to watch a deep dive on Ethel Cain's album. I gotta go now but I'll write again soon <3

I need more roleplay partners

This is an active attempt at making people want to roleplay with me, because I just need more active ones, other than the one that I currently have (they're irreplaceable for sure!)

Now, I accept anything MxM and FxF, shipping OCs is cool, but I mainly ship things from fandoms (I am quite sure that you will recognise at least one of these, trust me). I find gore completely fine and I come for drama, as long as it doesn't come out of nowhere. I write in a weird mix between semi-lit and literate. If I keep myself short, I either don't know what to write or I am preoccupied with something else at the moment. 18+ stuff is good too, I am 20 (I am a pure bottom, but not all that I roleplay is submissive, most of them stand their ground quite well). I am a very creative person, who will most likely find a plot in anything, so if you want to add things aswell, just let me know!

My buddy the narrator pacing: Hrothulf is plotting against his uncle

The thing about Beowulf is... I never quite got the hype about it. (Yes, we're not Supposed to use words like "hype" about world literature Classics, especially from ancient times, or to make light of them in general. Shut up and contemplate the fact that social media posts expressing nothing more than personal opinions and feelings aren't generally meant to be the same thing as academic work to be shared between academians in an academic context.) Ofc, I understood its historical value, including in terms of linguistics and philology. But in terms of "would I pick this as reading material to obsess and fall into a research hole over"? Despite trying a few times, I never quite got past ALL the references to God every other line. ("Snorri was an Evil Zealot who set out to knowingly and purposefully Christianize Norse mythology For The Evulz" crowd, I will tattoo each and every single one of those all over your body so you can't look into a mirror without accidentally reading one ever again.) The apparently disjointed "Beowulf fights Grendel and then Grendel's mother in Denmark. Years later, after going back to Sweden and becoming king, he also fights a dragon but this time he dies" narrative didn't really appeal to me, either. Nor did the presence of (afaik) exactly one (1) named female character. (Wealhtheow, babe, in hindsight I'm so sorry.)

I'm not sure what changed, exactly. It's just that, some time ago, I finally got around to reading Grendel by John Gardner, and I loved it and thought "wow, this would have made me either bawl my eyes out or stare off into space for like five-to-ten minutes after finishing it, had I read it as a teen." And after that, I found myself thinking "well, now I should probably get to know know the original story," and finally picking up my copy of Tolkien's translation of Beowulf, and realzing there actually was a lot going on in the story, and getting way too engaged in the looming "Hrothulf kills Hrothgar's kids" subplot that doesn't even really resurface in any later material about Hrolf Kraki (though those aren't exactly free from fucked-up family dynamics, either...), and going "!!! Volsungar mention!!!!" at the bit about Sigemund and Fitela despite already knowing about the Sigemund and Fitela bit and the whole "who actually killed the dragon first/in which tradition" question, and losing my mind at the bit about Hama and the "necklace of the Brosings" and "Eormanaric's hate" because, yeah, I already knew about that one, too, kind of, but recently I've gone into a little bit of a Brisingamen deep-dive, and a while ago I read a really interesting commentary and translation of the Hildebrandslied that had quite a lot to say not just about the specific hatred/enmity of a powerful king for an adventurous hero but also about the shift from Odoacher to Ermanric as Dietrich' von Bern's enemy, which ofc (?) got me thinking about Eormanaric/Ermanric/Jormunrek's apparent widespread reputation for being an asshole, something there probably has to be some accessible paper in English about somewhere out there...

Ahem. Anyway, I also found myself alternating reading Tolkien's translation with watching Grendel Grendel Grendel, the weird and very simplified and toned down but still somehow very enjoyable and sad kids' movie adaptation of Gardner's Grendel. And Beowulf & Grendel, the one without any magic where Grendel's a traumatized Neanderthal on a quest of vengeance that's somehow also quite a good watch despite the wonky editing, the cast and crew being possibly cursed by the Norse gods, and ofc, the time-displaced Neanderthals. And Animated Epics: Beowulf, which I might have actually watched once as a child, thinking about it. And Simon Roper and Jackson Crawford's read-along, featuring interesting linguistic, literary, and historical notes as well as Australian!Hrothgar, Beowulf making it exceedingly clear that "some of my best friends are Danes!", and some unforgettable exchanges such as "I used to tell my students the story about that time I almost drove off a cliff when they were worried about their exams to make them undestand that I, too, had experienced the fear of death :|" "I'm glad you didn't perish :)" "Thanks. :|" (I'm on the Fits 8-11 video, btw. Even if, when it comes to Tolkien's translation, I'm already at the part where Beowulf says goodbye to Hrothgar and sails back to the land of the Geats. Look, I remebered thos videos existed somewhat belatedly.)

I think eventually I might also end up rewatching The 13th Warrior (which I'm gonna go out on a limb and say might be the true origin of the ahistorical Neanderthals in Beowulf & Gredenl, but I remember liking that one, too). And Outlander (my beloved "aliens crash-land in Viking Age Scandinavia and fight each other while being Sad & Tragic in their own ways" one, not the Scottish one) but specifically as a Beowulf reimagining this time around (rather than as "the movie that could have totally had the Brooding Hero, Fiery But Sweet Warrior Woman, and Hotheaded Rival-Turned-Friend invent modern polyamory, because that wouldn't have been weirder than having a character called Boromir" like every other time). Maybe that weird post-apocalyptic Beowulf that was the first to do the "Grendel's mom's got it goin' on" thing, too, at least if I can find that snarky review of it on Youtube again. Probably not the Uncanny CGI Desperately Trying To Be Live-Action 20O5 Beowulf where the titular hero keeps screaming "BEOWULF!!" and "I'M BEOWULF!!!" just in case the audience's intelligence levels can't be considered to be above the average rock's, and that also decided to add a foot fetish/body paint kink note to its cover of Grendel's Mom, though, unless I can find any snarky review of it. (I remember reading somewhere that the director actually hated Beowulf, as in the poem itself, and accepting the bit of info without question. The high heels-shaped feet are just one of the reasons why I wonder if anyone ever asked him if perhaps he hated women, too. At least his work supposedly contributed to the writers of Outlander being told "there's already too many Beowulf movies coming out!" and going "whatever, we're gong to do our own thing! With blackjack and hookers aliens and shieldmaidens", so I should probably thank him for that.)

Unfortunately, while I'm pretty sure I'll be able to avoid writing down a list of Adaptations I Absolutely Need To Check Out One Day Or I'll Die (i.e. Every Single I've Ever Heard About) like I did for The Nibelungs In Their Every Possible Form, all of this had the unforeseen side effect of reminding me that, even when I didn't have much if any interest in Beowulf, I used to have a bit of soft spot for Unferth. I mean, how could I not, when I imprinted on Hagen von Tronje when I was eleven-years-old? Give me a guy who knows all of The Hero's heroic deeds and still doesn't find him all that impressive from their very first meeting, and I'll just "👀" at him. Though from what I knew, this guy in particular seemed to go against his character type by becoming more friendly with the hero and lending him his ancestral sword, which seemed pretty interesting. Especially because he was apparently a fratricide, too? And you wouldn't expect a guy who killed his own brothers and got a "... and that's why you'll go to Hell!" by The Hero over it to have any kind of redemption arc/sudden reveal of hidden depths in any positive sense. And there was also that paper (which, ofc, I didn't bookmark at the time, and now I want to kick myself for that until I remember the title or at least the author...) arguing that maybe him telling off Beowulf about the swimming race was less about him as a person and more about him having a specifc role among the thanes in Heorot that included testing strangers requesting to speak with Hrothgar to figure out if they really were who they claimed to be or if they could actually live up to their reputation...

Again, I blame John Gardner, at least in part. He has a really crunchy Unferth, who definitely reawakened my interest in the character. The on in Grendel Grendel Grendel wasn't half-bad, either, though very different in some respects. But the original, too, ended up being actually so much more fun (meaning, so much more to chew on/rotate in my mind) than I could have imagined from my vague memories.

First you've got the iconic "didn't you look like a total loser against Breca, and isn't that literally all there is to know about you?" "shut up, you're drunk, a kinslayer, someone I have never heard anyone tell heroic tales about, and also, maybe if you were braver Grendel wouldn't keep eating you guys" banter, and I'm starting to realize that might be already more juicy, in terms of both Beowulf's and Unferth's characterizations and their interactions together, than I ever thought it was. Then you've got a line that sounds an awful lot like "everyone could see Grendel's severed arm hanging from the ceiling and that shut Unferth up" and seems to imply some sort of lingering bitterness on Unferth's side when Heorot is in the middle of the celebrations for Grendel's death. But then Unferth actually starts being described in much more favorable terms, almost as if the narrator were pointing out that, despite what the audience might think after his first appearance, there's a reason he's close to Hrothgar and has a good place in his hall... even if at the same time Unferth's praised for his "mighty heart" (something quite different from cowardice), wisdom, and the trust everyone in Heorot apparently has in his mind, there's actually another reference to him having had no mercy for his relatives "in the play of swords" in the past. (Fun little detail: that line comes right after one to the effect of "Hrothgar and Hrothulf were there and no betrayal had yet happened between them"...)

Until, finally, you get Beowulf preparing to go fight Grendel's mother and Unferth giving him his family's swords, Hrunting. And all kinds of entertaining things happen in relation to Hrunting.

You've got Unferth not remembering his first words to Beowulf because he was just really, really, really drunk when he said them, which seems to go well with Beowulf himself calling out his speech as a drunken boast but not with the "that shut him up" line I mentioned before. (Which leads me to wonder: was he actually too drunk to know what he was saying? Or did Beowulf give him an easy out in case he regretted it, which Unferth eventually chose to take to try and smooth things over?) You've got Unferth being "mighty of valour" yet not daring to go after Grendel's mother himself and "forfeiting glory" while giving his weapon to a "worthier" warrior, but his sword getting some lengthy praise nonetheless, to the point of being basically deemed infallible, and Beowulf not only not making any more comments on Unferth's supposed lack of bravery but calling him a man of "wide renown", praising his sword some more, vowing to succeed in his heroic feat with Hrunting or die trying, and telling Hrothgar that no matter what happens, Unferth must get it back when it's all over. And after that... you've got Hrunting utterly failing to kill or even harm Grendel's mother.

Except, that's literally the first time it ever fails at anything? And Beowulf can only kill Grendel's mother when, with the help of God, he finds a magical sword forged by giants, which implies there was no problem with it (and, by extension, with Unferth?) as the whole situation simply needed a little something extra to be dealt with?

Then, you've got Beowulf actually bringing Hrunting back, even if it wasn't much use to him when it really mattered. And praising it again, making sure to publicly clarify, while addressing Hrothgar himself, that no, it really is an excellent sword. And, after some more "the monster is dead!" celebration, Unferth himself (unambiguously "bold", now) having the sword brought over again not just to lend it Beowulf, but to gift it to him.... a weapon that is both nothing to sneeze at and, as Beowulf himself has acknowledged while praising it, a family heirloom. (From a guy who probably already has enough complicated feelings about his family without running around giving that kind of stuff away, to boot!) One Beowulf accepts once more, and gladly, already figuring it will be "a good friend in war, a power in battle" and saying absolutely nothing bad about it (the narrator goes "oh he's so gallant!" at him after that bit, which is admittedly kind of hilarious in itself, but still, imho, not really much to go on if you want to think he's not being sincere) right before he announces his intentions to sail back home.

I'm gonna be honest: I had already read most fics tagged Beowulf/Unferth on AO3 before this Beowulf binge. And now, I've gone and reread them. I've actually read the ones I'd missed the first time around, too. Not that it took me much time at all, but still. WildandWhirling has two really lovely ones. This innuendo-heavy one is a delight to read, too.

I think I might end up writing at least one more. Maybe canon!verse, if I manage not to spiral into researching Old English attitudes to homosexuality, or maybe Modern!AU, if I manage to find a good way to transliterate "sailing off to another country to slay monsters" in this century in a convincing way. Even just to have more than six works in the tag itself. But we'll see...

I suppose, in the end, the whole point of this random, almost stream-of-consciousness post (besides freeing up my head from at least some of my recent Beowulf thoughts) might have turned out to be just that, no matter who they are, fangirls will, indeed, always make them gay. (... I say, as if this was a surprise and I didn't already ship a number Nibelungenlied-and-adjacent gay ships I got into way before any of this.) It wasn't its original purpose but *shrug* I'll take it.

Then again... come on. All that talking about swords. *grin*

Just finished A&B and I’m insane about it, I definitely made the wrong decision when I brought it with me while on vacay with my family….now i have to act normal but LORD THESE GAY ANGELS ARE RUINING ME

Anyway thank you for writing this amazing book and for fuelling my obsession with gay angels, especially Michael and Lucifer, I’ve been obsessed with them ever since I read a fanfiction about them years ago (these two have been living rent free in my head for so long) but I digress

anyway!!! I wanted to ask about Azazel’s kid like if he hadn’t died when Michael stabbed Azazel ((I’m never forgiving him for this)) would have he become a “normal” angel?? Or just like yk a man with wings? I’m just obsessed with how you played with the Nephilims in this book and I’m desperate to know more about them

Also just wanted to say that I loved the familial relationships, the angels thinking about their wife’s kids as their own destroyed me AND CAIN AND LUCIFER AND BAAL,,,,I’m never getting over them

Maybe this is just something that's been on my mind for a minute, but I think it's worth saying anyways.

We recently just moved out. We live alone. And people at work have actually asked us "well, isn't it kind of lonely?" And if we weren't a system, I'm sure it would be.

But there's so much love in this apartment. I step into the kitchen and see Cain's 'Worlds Best Dad' apron in the bottom drawer, Ross' wine in the fridge, Eddie's cereal on the counter, Lex's special bowls and plates, Miles' stuffed animals literally lay in giant piles on the floor in every room.

Our personal library is so diverse because we all love different books. I can laugh and joke about my obsession with collecting every FNAF novel with Toby, I know the special edition of Alice In Wonderland on our shelf is for Miles, our copies of The Hunger Games are falling apart because Cain read them so often growing up, Eddie's LOtR collection is front and center, Lex's Magicians series is mismatched paperbacks and hardcovers because she loves secondhand book stores too much to buy a new box set from Amazon.

Our closet is a clusterfuck of different styles and aesthetics, from my fuckboi jerseys and cut off tank tops to Lex's bloodstain pattern skirts to Cain's leather jacket and everything in between.

Our apartment, our home, is filled to the brim with love for each other, because we are all disasters in our own way, and we love each other regardless.

I get to walk through the door each day, lock it, and take off that mask. I get to be myself here. And it never matters who that is. Because here? We're safe to just exist and love and collect and learn.

We've never had that before.

more headcanons on the batfamily in hogwarts houses? i'm curious for your opinion. you can also include sub-houses if you'd like!

Oh, man. I'll just do the Batfam I know most.

-Bruce Wayne

-Bruce Wayne is the Avatar of Hogwarts Houses

-Gryffindor? Brave, helps others literally all the time

-Hufflepuff? Hard worker, patient, loyal

-Ravenclaw? Intelligent, witty, planning, knowledgeable

-Slytherin? Ambitious, cunning, resourceful and heritage (kinda)

-Dude's literally got every amazing trait whattheheck

-I think I have to put him in Ravenclaw

-But man is it a hard choice

-Bruce's intellect is such an important part of his character

-His other aspects are very important to his character, too

-But his Ravenclaw traits are what set him apart from other heroes

-He's "the world's greatest detective"

-Often uses wit and intelligence to defeat his enemies

-His intelligence is what makes him such a notable foe to villains

-I'm not going to get mad if he's sorted in the other houses, though

-Dick Grayson

-Dick's probably a Hufflepuff, but mAN is Gryffindor close

-Friendliest, kindest dude you will ever meet

-Is good in every universe, even in ones where Superman is bad

-Hard worker and very fair

-Believes in love, or hope or something

-Jason Todd

-Jason's a Slytherin

-The other option for him I was thinking was Gryffindor, but dude's ambition and willingness to do almost anything to get his way helped me choose

-He has big ambitions for how Gotham should run, and he's more likely to play dirty

-Not particularly cunning but extremely resourceful

-Tim Drake

-There was no doubt in my mind that Tim's a Ravenclaw

-Intelligent and witty

-One of the smartest dudes

-Has backup plans for his backup plans

-Tim's always right and will make sure everyone knows it

-Damian Wayne

-Textbook Slytherin

-The sneakiest, brattiest kid you'll ever meet

-Will also do anything to get his way

-Cunning and resourceful

-Obsessed with his "status" and heritage

-Barbara Gordon

-Barabara, similar to Bruce, has many of the houses' traits

-I can see her in any of them, Slytherin probably the least

-I think it also depends on her era

-Like, as Batgirl she was more Gryffindor

-But as Oracle she was more Ravenclaw

-So I guess I'll put her in Hufflepuff, which she had during both eras

-Hard worker, loyal, kind and helpful

-Puts others first

-Stephanie Brown

-Steph I'd maybe put as Gryffindor?

-Admittedly I don't know much about her

-She seems pretty headstrong, though

-Determined and stubborn

-Cassandra Cain

-Similar to Bruce and Barbara, I can see a little bit everything in Cass

-I landed on Hufflepuff for her, though

-She's very loyal to the Batfam

-Extremely caring and helpful, as well

-Sweetest girl ever

-Duke Thomas

-Duke's a Hufflepuff

-Pretty soft spoken

-Extremely friendly and loving

-Hard worker

-He's very sweet

-Kate Kane

-I think I'm gonna put Kate in Ravenclaw

-Disclaimer though, I don't know too much about her, either

-Intelligent (she was in the military)

-Very witty and knowledgable

-Also tends to be a realist

-Alfred Pennyworth

-Probably a Hufflepuff

-Very hard working and loyal

-Patient and kind

-With his loved ones through thick and thin

-(Bonus) Selina Kyle

-Also probably a Slytherin (This family- geez)

-Very cunning and sneaky

-Will also do anything to get her way

-Ambitious and resourceful
