Hey I know you're all trying to be humorous but can we fucking stop with the jokes that are like "all men are horrible at sex always and only lesbians can keep women satisfied"??
They're not funny anymore
And I'm not just saying that because I'm a bisexual with a boyfriend and I love guys just as much as I love ladies
I'm also saying this because I bet there are lesbians that are bad at sex, too! Especially if they've come out of the closet very recently and have never been with another woman before
And also, gender identity and biological sex are fluid and complicated and don't always match and these jokes forget about that

Random prompt generator pt1!! ~Bakugo edition~
I used a random prompt generator and I ended up with this prompt!!
Tumblr media
Bakugo x Hitman reader with a strict moral code!
Having a personality like Bakugo's, he was bound to have enemies and people praying for his downfall. But hating the man so much you hire a hitman? What did this man do to deserve this? You were getting paid quite a lot, so you'd be stupid to reject the offer but the question still remained. Your job was incredibly dehumanizing, taking someone else's life because of some cash? Witnessing their agony and screams firsthand, watching a person take their final breath and curse you. It wasn't the most fun job. But it's what put food on the table for you and your little sister. However, you had rules, it didn't matter how much money you were being paid, you wouldn't kill a kid, nor would you kill someone who didn't deserve it. In order to figure out for yourself if your target was innocent or not, you had to go undercover to find out for yourself. Which is how you ended up as his sidekick...
"What good are you if you can't keep up with me?" The blonde hero scoffed in your face. You could see why he was on a hit list. His short temper and bluntness made people uncomfortable, and since he had both physical and social power, there wasn't anything anyone could do to change his attitude.
"I'm new to all of this sir, unlike you I didn't come from a Hero school." You sigh, explaining to him for the 5th time why you weren't able to move like he did.
He gets a notification telling him there's a crime going on nearby and he's gone before you can blink. When you got there you saw a villain holding a hostage, a little girl, maybe 5. Police surrounded the scene, and Bakugo stood 30ish feet in front of the villain. Talking?
"What's so important about this little brat? It's not like anyone cared for her before I took her, Orphaned and homeless. And you call yourself a hero. I should just put her out of her misery.." The villain goes on and on. He wasn't wrong, the whole reason you became a hitman was that you felt the hero society was corrupted.
You watch Dynamite, wanting to see how he responds to the remarks. Would he try and protect his pride? You thought that seemed fitting from what you'd seen, but you were surprised.
"Your right. We gotta fuckin' do better. But who went and made you some sort of god? Get your head outta your goddamn ass. The kid did nothin, leave her outta this. If you got an issue," he cracked his Knuckles, smirking menacingly, "Feel free to talk with me, I'm always looking for some practice."
Dynamite ended up apprehending the villain. But you were a little concerned for the little girl. So you followed him, even after he set you home, you followed in secret. You watched as the big pro hero held the hand of the little girl and walked to the city council to find any sort of paperwork on the girl. You watched how he took her home for the night and called one of his friends to watch her while he stayed up all night at the office. Working to find any trace of this girl's family. And you also saw how the next morning the blonde dropped off the girl at her only alive relative's house. And checked in for the next few days to make sure everything was alright.
You'd be lying if you said you weren't touched by how much he cared and how took the villain's words into consideration, or how you'd be sad to kill him. You'd also be lying if you said that the thought of him didn't bring heat to your cheeks...
I'm so so so sorry for not posting, I've been going through a pretty rough time but I'm back! tysm for your support!! and lmk if you like the random generator idea, I really enjoyed making this short fic!

I'm intrigued if you have any thoughts about Macau and/or his relationship with Vegas. Looking forward to more Kinnporsche works from you!
I've been looking forward to getting around to this one for (checks date) more than a month! wow wish Tumblr didn't give me date stamps for when asks were sent
anyway though, I feel like I watched through most of Kinnporsche not having a whole surfeit of Macau related feelings and then I thought about it and started writing fic and developed a not insubstantial amount of them, particularly around the shape of his and Vegas's relationship.
because it seems like they're pretty close! and not just that, but pretty comfortable with each other and at ease around each other. there's a post floating around that points out a moment where Vegas greets Macau and you can see Macau just...light up? and also I'm thinking about the scene where Macau and Vegas are ganging up on Pete outside the temple and they are so clearly both having a great time (at poor Pete's expense).
just thinking about...I don't know exactly how old Macau is supposed to be, but I get the impression maybe around Porschay's age? definitely he seems like he's the youngest of the Theerapanyakul kids, and one thing I do notice about him is that he seems much less guarded than the others. (Tankhun aside, but Tankhun's (seeming) lack-of-guardedness is its own kind of wall.) Considering what we know about the minor family, that's potentially surprising. I think of him as kind of a brat, but a fairly normal rich teenager kind of brat; so, sort of insufferable but not a horrible person with a lot of murder under his belt.
I think that Vegas has done his best to shield Macau from a lot of things, and while I'm sure that hasn't been 100% effective I do think that he's managed a fair amount of mitigation, in particular at keeping Macau's hands clean of direct violence for as long as he can get away with.
I think that they do have a close relationship with each other, and one of relative honesty, and care about each other a lot. they are, I think, each others' closest family; certainly for Vegas I think Macau is on the very, very short list of people who have any kind of genuine window on who he is as a person.
but on the other hand I think for Vegas, Macau is his to guard, and that limits the extent to which he lets Macau fully in on what's going on with him (though I think Macau knows/understands more than Vegas thinks he does). I think Macau has his own protective streak when it comes to Vegas but he is more likely to either be overridden or just not to be able to help. I feel like that's got to be frustrating. they're equals and co-conspirators up until Vegas remembers that Macau needs to be protected and then Macau's cut out of the loop again.
Macau, I'm sure, would at least some of the time like to be treated like more of an adult, with all that means in their world. Vegas disagrees and he does tend to win that one.
so if there's that then why does Vegas seem to write Macau off when he's talking about feeling lonely/abandoned/having nothing? for one that's just kinda what it's like when you're spiraling - the things that might normally make you happy stop mattering. but the other thing is I think a product of that protectiveness that means there are a lot of things Vegas doesn't feel like he can share, that Macau can't understand (and Vegas doesn't really want him to). at least to some extent there are probably parts of himself he doesn't want Macau to know about (whether or not he does, or in how much detail, I headcanon variably). I also think Vegas wants to put distance between Macau and the uglier parts of their work (and probably also Macau and his father) and is already thinking ahead to that future.
and I think Macau knows that, too, and I bet that hurts.
also I firmly believe that they give each other so much shit. and that Macau knows Vegas better than anybody else alive.

First Visit To A New (To Me) Clinic
I'm so excited. I had my first appointment at a clinic that, essentially, focuses on cornea/Keratoconus issues. This is a follow-up to a post I did a couple of weeks ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/Keratoconus/comments/16is1l3/realizing_there_may_be_better_options_out_there/ The really big "finding" they educated me on today: The corneal scar (which I knew was there) is right in the center of my field of vision - and likely contributing to my poor vision. My former doc had always documented it - but NEVER said anything more. (And, to be fair, I never asked about it.) I figured "nothing could be done" since this professional that I'd trusted for many years wasn't offering anything. So - I have three strikes against me: 1/ Cataract; 2/ Central Cornea Scar; 3/ Keratoconus. (Also, they thought continued use of the RGPs could make this scar even worse.) The KC doc said there might be an option to do surgery on the scar. I'll discuss this with the surgeon on the 18th when I have a consult. They seemed a bit surprised I was in RGPs. (It's the only option my previous clinic offered.) Conversely, this new clinic ONLY fits Sclerals. So - at a minimum I'm headed toward cataract surgery, requiring some yet-to-be-determined-length of RGP holiday (3-12 weeks - the surgeon needs to assess. Since I'll be in a Scleral after cataract surgery there's less pressure to get the IOL exactly right....so maybe a relatively short holiday.) Then, when that's all done and settled down, it's Scleral time. I'm excited about the prospect of better vision out of that eye. (I'm currently getting 20/80 - the doc thinks I can get to 20/30....possibly 20/20.) I'm surprised and disappointed that my previous clinic wasn't keeping up with new technologies and, consequently, weren't able to offer me better options. It's an immense relief to be in a place where they embrace the challenge and take an attitude of "leaning in" to get me the best outcome. submitted by /u/Crafty-Sundae6351 [link] [comments] https://www.reddit.com/r/Keratoconus/comments/16v0yvt/first_visit_to_a_new_to_me_clinic/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr

SCP Scenarios: SCP x Fem!Child!Hybrid!Reader
Main Masterlist | SCP Scenarios Masterlist | My Works Masterlist | Rules | Request | Socials | My Original Post

I'm so sorry this took longer than expected T_T
(Yes Ik it's longer than the others I do, and that's cuz I usually end up mixing the headcanons into drabbles/one-shots, but this time, I kept it as bullet points and I got carried away. Oops. And yes, it's easier to write headcanons this way but it'll end up being long af)
When Cain first met you, he overheard and was curious about this new SCP during a test, so he decided to come and watch, from afar of course.
When Cain first met you, he overheard and was curious about this new SCP during a test, so he decided to come and watch, from afar of course.
Anyways, the little test was just a plain and boring one and little (Y/N) was taken back to her containment cell after 10 minutes. Cain had requested to see you as he remembered seeing in your file that you can breathe fire and cry lava among other things due to your dragon abilities.
It's not like he didn't believe them since he's been in the foundation for many years, but he was just curious about a hybrid child like you and wanted to see if you were doing well. You being a shy child was quiet at first and when Cain went to visit you every so often, you both became close and he was a father figure to you, even though you were abandoned by your father since birth and your mother died not long later.
He took good care of you and made sure you were well fed. You were rather polite to the guards and staff so Cain wouldn't need to worry too much about you intentionally killing them. But only for a short period of time as who knows what you'll be like when you're older.
Luckily for Cain, you were also carnivorous, so he didn't have to worry about you eating your 5 a day (not that you wanted to anyways you ungrateful meat-eating child).
Whenever there's a containment breach, the first thing he does is to look for you
Aside from some side effects, he isn't worried too much as he wouldn't receive any wounds anyways so hell just charge towards anyone who looks/sound like you
He's basically your new dad ok?
SCP 076 (Abel)
Abel first came into contact with you during a containment breach
He just saw you casually flying around and occasionally lending the guards a hand by breathing fire just to burn some holes for easier access (how professional)
He saw you again moments later when you were alone and you decided to approach this hulk of a man to ask for some help, thinking he worked there. Abel had abandoned you (like your hopes and dreams left you a millennium years ago) but you insisted on going with him so he took you in
Later his rage in the facility had vanished as he had cared for you for the short period of time he had met you and handed you over to the guards, much to their surprise
He then ran away as he's not totally scared of kids or anything and hid in his box
You insisted on visiting 076-2 and so the researchers did, realising much later that you both had bonded. Abel was a parental figure to you.
A very overbearing protective guardian I must say.
Even more so when there's a containment breach
Like imagine 610 and 682 mashed up together to form an extremely hostile entity and that's Abel for you
But that's only if you were hurt, if you weren't or fit was just a normal containment breach, had be extremely worried
SCP 049 (Plague Doctor) (Guy's pls don't be mistaken, I don't have any beef with 049 ok? XD If I make any characters a little OC then 049 will gladly rid the pestilence from you without consent)
This sassy MF so-called doctor right here met you when for some reason, the doctors had decided to put you both into a testing room (no, it wasn't Bright's idea).
049 was just doing his thing as you just sat on a really high chair (cuz you do be short so ofc you wouldn't be sitting on a lower chair which is lower than your taste in men/women) and watched curiously. The doctor thought it was somewhat cute and laughed slightly from your curiosity.
Sensing that you didn't have the pestilence, he allowed you to scooch closer just to see. After the test was done, the guards took you back out with slight aggression, but you, for some reason, were still polite to the guards despite their aggression which made 049's heart swell due to your pureness.
You yawned slightly and accidentally blew out fire from your mouth which almost caused a containment breach if it weren't for 049's quick thinking
Later on, the researchers had decided to put you both in the testing room again, and you both began to bond as 049 requested you to burn the bodies he performed surgery on
Needless to say, you both had a great time and the researchers were mildly amused
If you somehow knew another friend (*ahem* 035), he'd probs ask him/her to care/loof for you if there were a containment breach
Or he would just sigh and look after you himself if you were closer to 035 and he asked so nicely
SCP 035 (Possessive Mask) (Right about 049 being sassy.... I'll take that back, 035 is the sassiest, right next to a certain sculpture in the foundation)
Anyhow, 035 was actually the reason you were stuck in the foundation anyways
God knows how, but you met this guy wearing this theatre mask and you ended up here in the foundation
Now everyone thought you were either a Keter or Euclid
I mean, you were so close to being put into the Euclid class but ended up in safe since you were so polite to the researchers as well as shy and relatively easy to contain... For now
Whenever they used you in a test, you were rewarded with whatever you wanted, within reason ofc, whenever you behaved well which was like 98% of the time minus minor accidents since you weren't entirely in control of your powers
Sometimes instead of a reward, you'd request to see 035 as he would perform to you and that was only granted when its safe to do so and when that hideous mask would do as he/she/it is told
035 would be that somewhat overprotective yet goofy uncle that everyone loved and he was totally wrapped around your fingers unless you were hurt or if he urgently needed something or someone
If there was a containment breach, he'd look for you, if not he'll call out his 'friend' to look out for you (*cough* 049 *cough*)
When 035 finds you, he'd most likely ask you to fly around to see the nearest exit or he'd just carry you when there's someone chasing you
If 035 were to kill anyone, you'd cry and tell him no to which did end up in burning the floor but oh wells, they're rich enough to contain him so why not use the extra money to rebuild the floor right?
Anyways, 035 loves you no matter what and he'd do anything to make sure you're doing well
SCP 999 (Tickle Monster)
Ok so, when you and 999 first met each other, you were kind of just wandering around the facility minding your own business
999 just casually slithered up to your leg and offered you some sweets and a hug since you looked upset and so you accepted it
You both found a place to sit and just talk bout stuff and what life was like before you were captured
But you were cheery just like 999 and rarely attacked anyone, and if you ever did, it was either that you were hella pissed or you accidentally breathed fire/teared up some lava which burnt some stuff
The researchers would secretly take in some notes bout your interactions and just continued on with their day and left you both alone, but would sometimes keep a stern eye on you
They say it's for everyone's safety, and that's true to an extent, but the main reason they do it is to monitor your progress of you controlling your powers
Anyways, sometimes when it gets busy in the cafe or down the hallway, you just fly across the room, and sometimes, you'll be extra cheeky and play hide and seek with the researchers
999 would occasionally join in but he's more like a worried older brother to you
During containment breaches, 999 would run around looking for you and when he did, he would check if you had any injuries
When you say you didn't, he was relieved but not for long since you mentioned bout making new SCP friends and he just died right there and then (not really)
SCP 682 (Hard to Destroy Reptile)
Similarly to Able, he'd be wary of you at first
Like, he can sense that you weren't just an ordinary child when you just appeared behind him
He was somewhat irritated when you followed him around, but you reminded him of 053, so he just let it slide and let you show some affection towards him
It's not like he didn't like it, he was just embarrassed
Anyhow, the researchers wanted to test how 682 would bond with you, so they made you meet up with him again but in his cell
You were both chatting like father and daughter and soon, everyone had found out that not only could you fly, you could also cry lava, which yes did burn a small hole on the ground and you could somehow breathe fire
You were also immune to the fire and lava so they decided to have a full-on body check and discovered that you were built similar to the komodo dragon with a side of 682 (XD Don't ask)
682 was left stunned, but luckily he didn't feel the need to run up the wall like that bunny
Like who tf invented a self-eating bunny?
Anyways, research shows that just like Abel, the giant lizard was very protective of you
The theory has it that you were somehow related to the lizard, perhaps he laid an egg before containment and some guy took it in and froze it then decided to hatch the egg
During containment breaches, he would basically rampage around the facility, killing anyone and everyone until he found you
And when he did, he would check on you like the amazing father he is and then carry on killing but was then stopped by you
So he would just carry you around until you fell asleep
SCP 105 (Iris)
I think Iris would be a good mother/sister figure when it comes to kids
It kinda came from the fact that Iris hangs out with Abel and Cain a lot, so it kinda just rubs off her
Her motherly/sisterly instinct just heightened when she first found you on a mission and she just took you in
It took a while to bribe the foundation that she kinda had custody
Not exactly custody, but she had a say when it came to your safety, especially the fact that you weren't exactly human and your appearance would cause a disturbance to others
I feel like Iris would be a stern yet kind guardian towards you, leaning towards the stern part since you're a child SCP and has fire breath and lava tears
Iris wouldn't be entirely bothered by you flying around, but she had to bribe the researchers and some SCPs to help you fly better
She would murder anyone who had to cry because they made you cry and cleaning up after your tears is such a mess considering that you have little control over them
Your fire breath on the other hand is slightly more controllable, but if you were hella happy or mad you'd breathe the fire and burn anyone/anything
Most of the time, its unintentional and you're usually sweet and kind towards anyone, so manners aren't a big thing for Iris to teach you
She'd even teach you some of the stuff she learnt/discovered and you'd just sit there being nosy and curious about everything
Like that one time, you almost caused a breach cus you were so curious and friendly that 682 was about to snap off your head and rampage out of the foundation
And don't even get me started with the brothers and 096, OML
Other than that, you both were like a family you never had :,) (You're welcome!!!)
During containment breaches, Iris would literally pick you up and run
Unless you weren't with her for whatever reason (Yes, you're attached to each other's hips... Don't lie, you love it!), she'd do anything to find you
If you were hurt, shed tend to your injuries immediately and lecture you about safety
If you weren't hurt, shed still give you a lecture, then pick you up and run
If you made friends on the way, she may or may not approve and bite of anyone head
And the foundation wouldn't want an Angry!Iris around
SCP 106 (Old Man)
This old man here is basically the definition of a cool uncle/granddad
Without a doubt, he'd go into his pocket dimension and comes back with a teddy bear or some sweets
He'd spoil you a lot and the foundation had enough of this cuz by the time you become an adult, you wouldn't be independent enough
Anyways, 106 would let you go into his dimension and practice your abilities there for the safety of others
The researchers would occasionally ask you to carry a camera with you just so they know what it's like in his pocket dimension
106 rarely gets mad, and even if he was, it'll be about someone trying to hurt you since you're too kind and shy to make him mad
You're even kind to the researchers and guards which is worrying to 106 as they might take advantage of your kindness (which may be true for some, but most of them are just glad you're kind since it makes their jobs so much easier)
Sometimes, you'd make things levitate which was a shock to anyone who walked by and witnessed this
But only for a few seconds though, so it's not much
106 would encourage you to use your telekineses and he'd attempt to train you
Which didn't work so well, so that sucks
During containment breaches, he'd use his pocket dimension to his advantage
He'd hide you in there just so you don't have to get hurt
If you weren't there with him, he'd kill and hunt down anyone who might know where you are
He'd make sure you weren't hurt otherwise he would go into scary uncle mode
If you weren't hurt, he would just hug you which stops you from crying lava
SCP 096 (Shy Guy)
Now what makes you and 096 a unique pairing is that you're both shy
The only difference is that you can speak but 096 kinda doesn't
But that's not a problem since you both just understood each other since day 1
I'd say 096 is that introverted uncle/cousin but he's kinda chill and sweet with you
As for containment breaches, the only difference with this tall guy is that not only will he kill anyone who sees his face, he'd also hunt down anyone who'd hurt you
096 has a newfound ability for this and the researchers were shocked when they first found out
A certain chainsaw loving doctor wanted to test it out himself but was stopped rather quickly by the other researchers
Anyways, one time you almost burnt down the foundation because 096 crept up behind you which scared you to tears
And you screamed as well which didn't help at all since you could breathe fire
Also, when you're not with 096, you'd use your levitating powers to grab lighter objects which did result in the objects falling onto your head
And this is why you need to train more, so then objects wouldn't be yeeted onto your tiny head and knock the nonexistent brain cells out of your nonexistent brain - Sorry not sorry (Ok so at least pretend to laugh)
If anyone bullied you and you didn't say a word, 096 would know and even if you tried to stop him, it wouldn't work
Unless you're in a life-threatening situation, but even then, he'd kill the guy
Dr. Simon Glass
Unlike the others on the list, you're the one who approached the doctor
Mainly because you were lost, but you were curious as well
Simon would probably be the best person to run into, other than Kondraki, but still
It's because he's a psychologist and still very much human (I mean, Kondraki's a normal human I guess, but he has those butterfly thingys)
Anyways, when he first saw you, you were in his office flying about and crying lava
Simon saw you and was shocked but attempted to calm you down and get you you sit with him for a bit, then call the others
But boy did that not work out, because this poor innocent boi was boutta get killed by your firey breath cuz he startled you too much
Bright, Kondraki and Clef just strolled in and saw the mess and even attempted to get you to chill, but this didn't work either
So poor Simon Glass had to find his way to get you to stop being so scared which obviously worked
You sat down with him and he let you doodle on a blank piece of paper
And being a good psychologist he is, he used psychological methods to get you to feel comfortable and to start talking to which you did
You were so polite he gave it to a chocolate bar, but instead of taking it off his hands, you used your telekineses to levitate it in your direction
Simon recorded what he had seen before letting the other researchers take you and offered to take you under his wing on the condition that you were you have a check-up every now and again
That wasn't much of a problem since you were so polite and chill - Usually
During containment breaches, he would make sure that you were safe first and it wasn't so difficult to deal with you since you were with him most of the time
When you're not with him, he'd be extremely worried like a mother hen and run in any direction that would take him to you
He'd be relieved to see you and if you were hurt, he'd bandage you up and try to not cry
If you've made new friends, he would be very happy about it - Unless it's a Keter or Euclid class
They'll be on his watchlist
Anyhow, Simon Glass is basically your mother and mentor
He'd teach you all the basics you'll need and help train you if he can (he'd most likely have to ask the other doctors and SCPs with some bribery)
Dr. Jack Bright
Our favourite doctor here would be that goofy uncle/dad
I feel that he'd sympathise with you since he's also an SCP (sorta) and he feels kind of trapped in the foundation
If you're lucky enough, Jack might be able to take you out for an hour for some fresh air
You'll automatically be under his wing and nobody will ever question it. Ever.
Although he may be goofy and does stupid things, he would be surprisingly protective and his fatherly instincts kick in right away since he first met you
He would allow you to use your powers to an extent and teach you how to use your power properly
You are well aware of his anomalous abilities with his neckless, so whenever Bright had to change bodies, you'd automatically know where he is (other than the obvious neckless thingy)
If there were to have a containment breach, Bright would panic but quickly become calm as that's the only way he could find you and keep you safe
When he finds you he would give you that lecture while finding any scratches on you
If you were to grow, he would give most guys the dad glare of the century and all those guys would run tf away cuz nobody messes with Bright's newfound daughter
I have high doubts that he would let anyone do tests with you when he's not there and even if he was, they would need his approval, so most of the time, you don't even need to worry much
Dr. Alto Clef
(OML Why do I keep adding new characters?! There's so much to write T_T)
Right, so when Clef found you, it was like as if his long lost (well... not so lost) memory came back to him
For some reason, you reminded him of 166 (OML I'm so lost for this SCP, like boi she had a rewrite)
So he took you in the foundation like he did with his daughter and took care of you Since he works for the foundation, he's not remotely terrified or anything, but he's curious about your abilities
And of course, you managed to use some of your abilities because of some SCPs and Bright Clef took you to meet 166 and you both showed your abilities and since 166 is older than you, she's probably trying to help you control your powers more
Which, of course, makes Clef a proud dad
If there were any containment breaches, he'd panicked but once he found you with his other daughter, he was relieved
166 made sure that you weren't hurt and if you were, you'd be bandaged up so Clef doesn't have to worry too much
Anyhow, if Clef decides to introduce you to the tiger doctors, he'd make sure Glass is the first since he's the most sensible person (but let's face it, he wouldn't admit it)
Then it'll be Iceberg, Coggs (that's his name right), Light and a couple others Bright and Kondraki would be last since they would be somewhat chaotic (mainly Bright) even though they're the fun uncle
Whenever Clef has a mission, he'd shove you to either 166 or Glass, if he's free, if not then it'll most likely be Light (and if she's also busy, then yall screwed)
And bless the guy who takes an interest in you when you become a teen cuz our messy boi would make sure that guy would suffer
Dr. Benjamin Kondraki
Ok let's face it, Kondraki would definitely be the mother hen of the dad world in the SCP Foundation
He's literally your mother, kinda like Glass but kinda not, ya know what I'm saying?
Like he'll feed your curiosity since many people around you wouldn't and you're an SCP so you're trapped in the foundation anyways
I'd say he's quite cautious and caring, obviously, but if he's out and about, he'd definitely let you go with him
Unless he's going out for a mission, then that's a definite no-no
He would let you hang out with the safer SCPs like 999 and maybe 166 if Clef is chill, but he has to let you hang out with her cuz she's the only other SCP who could help you get a grasp with your powers
Like how to not burn the bloody floor when you cry and stop breathing fire inconsistently by accident
An attempt was made when they try to train your telekineses but they'll have to wait till you're older
Since most of the time you're stuck with Kondraki, I don't think he'd be all too worried bout breaches, of course, he'd be worried about your safety, but you're there with him
If not then god knows what Kondraki would do
Like that one time, he begged Clef and Bright to look for you in which they did but then they made him do something for them in return
Let's just say, it wasn't pleasant at all, but it could be worse since Clef had a shred of sympathy left for the man and Bright just wanted chainsaws

Chapter twenty three: “Bokuto Hates Goodbyes”
Masterpost - Prev - Next.
Warning(s): post-timeskip manga spoilers!!
────────∘°❉°∘────────
“Tendou is going to quit volleyball after graduating. He wants to go to Paris to work as a chocolatier” you said, never taking your eyes off him. You sighed again, trying to find the words to tell him. Bokuto noticed your pause and smiled at you waiting for you to reply. “And I... I'm going with him.”
Koutarou's smile faded, along with the hope in his heart.
Silence took over the atmosphere. You were trying to look at Bokuto, but he kept his gaze on the snowy ground. Neither of you had opened your mouths to say anything. Maybe because the correct words did not exist to express what you were feeling at that moment; you, remorse, and Bokuto didn't even know what to feel. Sadness, melancholy, happiness because you are going to fulfill your dream... fear of being forgotten.
So many things to say, feel, live.
“Why?” he asked, still with his gaze on the floor.
“Why…?”  you lashed several times. “Because I want to be a baker, fulfill my dream and my grandmother's... It's what I want, Kou.”
Koutarou started to shake his head from side to side, his hands over his hair.
“Yes I know, but Paris?”  Bokuto looked at you for the first time, his eyes filling with tears. “That's like a million miles away!”
The snow kept falling on you two and the cold seemed to increase, but neither appeared to notice. The moment seemed eternal: Bokuto's tears that still did not come out, the imminent farewell, the silence that still continued ...
“We can continue to be friends, Koutarou, you shouldn't worry” the Owl turned to the opposite side of the school, and started walking away quickly. “Bokuto! Bokuto!” there was still no response on his part. “Koutarou, wait!”
Even though in his mind Bokuto had planned not to return, hearing his name come out of your mouth once more, he stopped short. He quickly turned to see you, your nose was red from the cold, and smoke came out every time you spoke when you apologized to him.”
“I don't want to be friends” shouted Bokuto looking straight into your eyes, with a tear rolling on his cheek. “I do not want you to go! W-we're just getting to know each other! It's not fair.”
Bokuto pouted while still staring at you.
“We still have time, I won't be leaving for another month,” you said, but you knew it wasn't enough time. Not even a thousand years would be. “We'll talk on the phone!”
Promises that were very difficult to keep. Even if you wanted to, with the exams that would be shortly, and then in the cooking academy, it would be impossible to maintain much contact. You didn't know if you could even keep it with Emiko and Wakatoshi.
“Don't say things that later won't be true,” Bokuto said for the last time, wiping the tears that fell from his eyes. “Bye, y/n.”
And in a last act of desperation, you grabbed Koutarou by the wrist and then grabbed his coat tightly, then brought your lips together with his.
After a few seconds, the light of a flash interrupted you.
“I'm sorry?” Emiko said with a nervous little smile. She had taken a picture of you kissing, and now she was slowly walking away so she could escape your creepy gaze. “I better go, haha. Byeee.”
Again the silence had taken over the environment. But this time, Bokuto's face was completely changed. His cheeks were flushed and he had a big smile on his lips.
“You like me too?” he asked suddenly.
And even though you were speechless, you were able to whisper a little “yes”. Bokuto without warning held you with his arms, hugging you, and then started jumping up and down several times.
“Wait, we were fighting two minutes ago,” he said, making an angry face, but then his true colors showed and he started laughing. “Hey Hey hey! It no longer matters, we must take advantage of every second. Get ready, y/n, I'll come tomorrow at nine in the morning! Well maybe not that early, but I'll come before lunch!”
And here was another example where you could see the captain of Fukurodani change his mood quickly.
You said goodbye and you entered the academy again, thinking about how to assassinate Emiko.
Tomorrow would be the last day you would see Bokuto in a long time.
And maybe forever.

Just as Koutarou had said the night before, at eleven in the morning he was at Shiratorizawa's gate, waiting for you to come out. It was not as early as he would have liked, but he had also arrived very late at the hotel, so he needed to sleep as well. Even though you were already walking towards the exit, two people arrived before you.
“Hello, Bokuto-san,” Tendou greeted. “Let's get straight to the point, what are your intentions with the little y/n? Ushijima and I are not very convinced that you go out with her so often. You were too late last night, and now it's too early. I hope you are not doing strange things out there. This is not Tokyo, my friend.”
“He is not your friend, Tendou” Ushijima said in a whisper, with his deep voice.
“I know, best friend, but I want to intimidate him” Satori whispered back, but he didn't realize that Bokuto had heard everything.
In the distance, you came walking next to Emiko. You had already forgiven her for last night's photo, although she still hadn't deleted it from Twitter, and had even put it as your profile picture for a few hours until you noticed and took it out. You can tell that Tsukasa almost ran out of roommates.
“Hey, aren't those Satori and Wakatoshi talking to your boyfriend?” She asked you, pointing to your friends and the one who wasn't your boyfriend really.
“I'm going to kill them.”
You sped up your pace to get there as quickly as possible and avoid disaster before it happens. But to your surprise, when you got to where the three of them were, all you could hear was laughter. Yes, even Ushijima.
“What is happening here?” you asked, raising an eyebrow at Satori, who you thought was responsible for this situation. And as always, you were right.
“Oh, nothing, y/n. Just old friends remembering old times” said Tendou with a rather forced laugh. Then, Ushijima and Bokuto also began to laugh out loud, while Koutarou made a danger signal with his eyes, and Emiko watched the situation in disbelief.
“I think Koutarou and I should go now” and before any of your friends could say anything, you grabbed him by the sleeve of his jacket and trotted off to Miyagi's main park.
Behind you, you could hear Tendou's screams calling for you to come back, but you ignored them and kept walking quickly in front of Bokuto.
Arriving at the park you could see several children with their parents playing in the snow, despite not having snowed today, there was still a little snow on the trees and grass.
“Thanks for saving me, things were getting ugly there,” he said as he took your hand that was on his sleeve, to be holding hands normally. “I have bad news.”
More bad news? You didn't think you were going to be able to endure another misfortune this weekend. It seems that Bokuto noticed your desperate face and squeezed your hand tightly to encourage you.
“They have suspended my bus for tomorrow, they say there will be a snowstorm in the afternoon so they have changed the schedule.” Nothing went right for tragic volleyball lovers. “I'm leaving tonight, so we can't see each other tomorrow.”
The world fell at your feet. How could everything go wrong for you? A lot of drama has existed lately.
“And now what?” you asked him.
“We live in the moment!” and without saying anything else, Bokuto started to run towards the ice skating rink, never letting go of your hand.
The ice was full of small children, who watched Koutarou every time he made a few meters and fell letting out a scream. The kids laughed at the Owl's exaggeration, causing him to make it even more dramatic to obtain more laughter. Every time you fell, Bokuto would rush to get up and ask you if you were okay, even if you were laughing at yourself and had not suffered any injuries.
After skating for half an hour or so, you decided to go for lunch because it was already quite late. You went to the same cafeteria that you had gone to the day before, and you ordered something warm since today's temperature was even colder than yesterday’s.
At the end of lunch, Bokuto asked you to show him around the city, although there was not much to show as it was quite small compared to Tokyo. You showed him where Karasuno High was, but you didn't go there since it was relatively far from where you were. He took several photos and sent them to Akaashi, and then to his mother.
The hours passed quickly, reaching the time of curfew, which meant that you had to go back to school, and Bokuto to his hotel to find his bags and go to the station. Unfortunately, you could not accompany him before his bus leaves.
“It's time to say goodbye,” you told him once at the entrance of the academy. "Thanks for coming to visit me, Kou.”
Before saying something to you, Bokuto put his arms around you. This time neither of you were crying, nor were sad. You were happy for the time you spent together.
“Goodbye, y/n, I'm going to miss you” and with a lot of bravery in his heart, Koutarou brought his lips to yours one last time.
“I promise to call you.”
And so, Bokuto Koutarou said goodbye with a sad smile, knowing that that promise was nothing more than an empty promise.
And that at the end of all, it would not be kept.

Tokiya Quirk Drawbacks
Alrighty this is the post where I go over the numerous drawbacks for Tokiya's quirk, Time Displacement.
This will be a very long post, with some images used to help show how the drawbacks work (the pictures may not be very good though) so this will all be under a read more.
Tokiya Quirk Basics
First, I want to do a quick over view of Tokiya's three base abilities. Tokiya has the abillities to make a person or object fast-forward, rewind, or slow down at varying speeds. All three of these abilities are activated when Tokiya makes physical contact with a target while focusing on the exact thing he needs to do. For example he would need to focus on making an object fast-forward to be 5 times its normal speed. Tokiya usually uses verbal indicators to help them focus on what they are trying to activate.
How the quirk acts solely when Tokiya himself is the target.
When Tokiya is using their quirk on themself they are able to fast-forward, rewind, or slow-down themself with little restriction. Tokiya's body is designed to be able to handle the shifting time, so he has grown accustomed to the constant shifts his body experiences when using his quirk.
Tokiya's fast-forward works by causing Tokiya to move slower, even allowing him to defy gravity by slowly falling down to the ground (this effect works on all possible targets).
Tokiya's body has three specific points that it relies on to help keep itself stable when Tokiya uses their quirk. First is the "base time" which is the time that his body will shift back to after it is given the proper time to, since it won't immediately shift back until Tokiya stops using the quirk for a moment (how long it takes to shift back differs between uses).
Second is the "stopping point" for how far Tokiya can rewind before he physically can not take it anymore. If Tokiya rewinds anything and then reaches this point, everything will immediately stop as a reflex to keep Tokiya from rewinding themself into non-existence.
The third is the "stopping point" for the fast-forward. It is similar to the stopping point for the rewind where if Tokiya over exerts himself when fast-forwarding and reaches this point, Tokiya will reflexively stop every affect he has active at that point in time. Since Tokiya is still relatively young during his UA school years, it takes very little rewinding to reach his stop point for the rewind (which is when he is about 4 years old, since his quirk had developed slightly later compared to the average), while the stopping point for Tokiya's fast-forward takes a lot longer to hit (the stopping point is around when Tokiya is 84 years old, which is the average life expectancy for a human in Japan). Below I have a small chart showing the stopping points and base time for Tokiya as of his time at UA.
Tumblr media
Even though Tokiya's stopping point for the fast-forward is when he is around 84, that does not mean he will die at that age, that is just an approximate that his body has made.
The bad part about this is, since Tokiya's body keeps shifting its self through time, it does not get the time to develop any extra mass, whether it be weight or height, so Tokiya is shorter than the average height, and is very underweight, causing even smaller clothes to be oversized. To help counter act this, Tokiya tries to avoid using his quirk as much as possible during long breaks from school to help his body grow, to somewhat mixed results, since he did have a growth spurt between leaving his last school and attending UA, growing about being about 5'2" or about 157 centimeters, and is now 5'6" or 168 centimeters.
How Tokiya's Quirk effects Others (and himself)
When Tokiya uses his fast-forward and rewind, they are also effected by the quirk, but at half of the power as the target, for example if his target is at 4x speed, Tokiya will be fast-forwarded at 2x speed. I have made a visual indicator shown below for Tokiya's fast-forward effecting a separate target. (with a cameo from Ikuto Maekawa)
Tumblr media
Tokiya is impacted differently when using his rewind on someone else. Tokiya's physical body will rewind, but Tokiya will not rewind his position. Tokiya can focus on solely rewinding his physical body, but it takes a lot of concentration, and it usually ends with Tokiya getting a migraine. I have made a visual indicator shown below for Tokiya's rewind effecting a separate target. (with a cameo from Evan Satoru)
Tumblr media
When Tokiya uses his quirk on multiple targets, he experiences an effect he calls stacking, because if Tokiya uses his quirk on multiple targets, they will experience the fast-forward or rewind at half the speed of both targets added together. For example if Tokiya used his fast-forward at 4 times speed on one target and at 6 times speed on a different target, Tokiya would be fast forwarded at 5x speed since 4 divided by 2 plus 6 divided by 2 equals 5 (4/2+6/2=5). I have made a visual indicator shown below for Tokiya's fast-forward effecting 2 separate targets. (with a cameo from Jaye Rokuto and Momo Neko).
Tumblr media
Lastly is Tokiya's Slow Down. Tokiya is unaffected when using the slow down on a separate target, but is handicapped by Tokiya not being able to use his slow down with his support items, which I will get into in the section about Tokiya's support items and how they work.
Tokiya's Support Items
Tokiya has a few useful support items that he had help developing from UA's support course students. Tokiya has two support items, first off being his outermost coat, which has a clock design on the back that will have the hands move clockwise if Tokiya is fast forwarding and counter clockwise if Tokiya is rewinding. This is beneficial to his allies who will be able to see if Tokiya is fast forwarding or rewinding, but it also helps any villains Tokiya might be fending off. The clock on Tokiya's jacket does not change if Tokiya is using his slow down.
Tokiya also uses a bow and arrow as a way of dealing with foes that are a great distance away or in the air. Tokiya usually carries two types of arrows, the first type being arrows with sharp edges that can cause physical harm, while the second type of arrows with a soft arrow head that also allows Tokiya to transfer their fast-forward and rewind a long distance. However the arrows can only transfer the set fast forward or rewind speed, and are only in effect for a short period of time. The arrows also do not work with Tokiya's fast-forward.
What would happen if Tokiya loses his Quirk?
This one is mostly for a hypothetical, since I don't plan on ever writing it so Tokiya permenantly loses their quirk, but if it where to happen, whether it be by Aizawa using his quirk on Tokiya, or some other sort of in universe means, here's what would happen if it was a permanent thing.
First off, Tokiya would have their lock of grey hair in their bangs fade to black. Since it was the unique visual que that could help show Tokiya's age once it was effected by his quirk.
Next Tokiya would immidiatley smack back to his base time, causing him immense physical pain, since his body would usually need to take its time when getting back to that resting point. Because of this Tokiya would probably scream and then pass out from the shock, since his body just immediately snapped back into a specific position in time it was not ready for.
Next, once Tokiya wakes up, Tokiya will be very out of it for a decent period of time since his body is experiencing time as the average person would, and Tokiya hasn't really experienced that since before his quirk initially developed, and would likely need to be hospitalized for a short period of time while he readjusts.
Lastly, once Tokiya is fit again for school, they would likely be transferred to UA's general studies course from the hero course, but would still likely be in class 1-Y since it is a mixed class.
Now if it was a quick, non permanent thing, Tokiya would still have the grey hair fade to black, and still pass out from the shock of immediately snapping back to normal time, depending on how long Tokiya's quirk is gone for determines how long they would need to stay at the hospital.
If it was Aizawa using his quirk it would probably be the whole day at MOST, maybe staying the night, and at the very least would have him stay an hour or two after waking up.
If it was one of the quirk dampening drugs used in the Shie Hassaikai Arc, Tokiya would likely need to stay in the hospital a bit longer so the doctors can analyze the drug since it was in his system, and wait for its effects to ware off. If I ever write angst about Tokiya losing their quirk (and knowing me I probably someday will), this would probably be the route I go down, since its not permanent, and it correlates with a concept shown in canon.
Final Thoughts
Hey, if you're reading this that means you finished the fricking essay I wrote about how much Tokiya's quirk sucks, and I really appreciate it. I was gonna put this in the tags but I don't know how long I will ramble with this section so I might as well keep it all in the same part of the post. I'm a little surprised that I actually wrote this much, since I thought this would be a quick thing, but it took me about 2-3 hours to write all of this down. If you have any questions related to this please send an ask or comment on the post, and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability. Anyways that's it for now, and thanks again for reading all of my ramblings.

Maribat Buzzfeed Unsolved AU
Ok so another one. In this au there Marinette is not ladybug or Chat Noir she's just a regular civilian. If you wondering who have the miraculous right now it's a adult, because Marinette deserves to be a child also this takes place around the time Marinette is 16
Also warning lots of curse words used
This idea came from the Maribat Discord thanks to everyone there
********************************
Ever since Lila came to school Marinette has been more and more excluded from class events
Originally it was very rare, like we went to the movies and were going to invite you but then we remembered that you were helping your parents in the backery
We were going to invite you but then remembered you were babysitting
Weren't you working on a design for that contest
Then they stop making excuses and just posted pictures to their social medias
She tried to organize events but for some reason Lila always had something planned then and of course the class can't leave HER out of anything
It got to the point where the class only talked to her if they needed something
Oh Marinette I have a big race coming up can you make me a banner
Oh Marinette can you make some bake goods for me
Hey Marinette can you plan this school dance all by yourself with absolutely no help from us while if you ask for help we'll make you feel guilty about it
Hey Marinette can you babysit the Twins and Chris, when we're suppose to do it, for no pay, while we go out on a date.
It really sadden Marinette that her so called friends who for most she knew all her life only saw her as at most an employee
But there were some bright sides
Her grades where going even higher and now she's one of the top students at school
Marinette was able to put more time into training in self defense something you need with all the Akumas in Paris
And Sabine even taught her everything she knew about martial arts
She was able to study Mandrine (for her mom's family) and English (for Jagged and Penny) and had become almost fluent in both
Marinette had a lot more time to work on her designs
Jagged Stone started to hire her to make and design more and more items
Her business has even spread to Clara Nightingale
Which will really help her in her career later in life
But Jagged seemed to think that later in life was now
One day he asked to have a meeting with Marinette and her parents
Marinette just thought it was to commission another design, but like always Jagged had a way of surprising her
Jagged: Well you see I'm leaving Paris soon to head back to my home town of Gotham, and I was wondering if I could take Marinette with me
Tom, Sabine, and Marinette: WHAT?!?!
Penny: Let me explain, you see Marinette's designs are some of the most popular Jagged ever had, people love her work, and we want to make her Jagged's full time designer. It would be a great opportunity for Marinette's future and would put her on the fast lane to a great career
Sabine: But what about school.
Jagged: Don't worry Sabine, Penny's thought of everything
Penny: It's all taken care of. Gotham Academy one of the top schools in the world is ready to take her the moment she says yes, she would be staying in an apartment right next to Jagged, with all expenses paid for while still getting paid for her work, and of course she can come back and visit whenever she wants.
Tom: It sounds like a great offer, but can we discuss this in private for a moment
Jagged and Penny nodded their heads and left the room
Marinette: Mama, Papa, I really want to take this offer
Sabine: Are you sure honey? This is a big step.
Tom: Not to mention you would be all alone in a big city. What about your friends?
Marinette: I will miss my friends (or at least the old them) but when will I get an opportunity like this and I wouldn't be alone I'd have Jagged and Penny
With some more discussions the choice was made and Penny started making arrangement to move Marinette to Gotham City.
And before Marinette noticed she was settling in to her new life in Gotham city.
And already it was much better then her one in Paris
Her new school was great
She had a lot of great friends and even a boyfriend now Damian Wayne
They met on her first day, when she accidentally ran into him
It sounds crazy but it was like love at first sight
They didn't start dating right away, it would take a couple of months for Damian to ask her out, but Marinette couldn't be happier
So were his brothers who she met soon after becoming Damian's friend
Now whenever Marinette wasn't designing for Jagged or at school she was hanging out in Wayne Manor
Marinette already had a youtube channel but it really didn't have that much content. Until one day she decided to discuss a famous cold case with her boyfriend and get it on camera
The first case she told him was an Australian case called the man from Somertan Beach
It was a short video, with her talking about it with Damian, but halfway through the video Jason (who had been filming them) made one too many comments and Damian decided to just switch places with him
Marinette kept making videos with Jason as her cohost and Damian behind the cameraman
It was relatively popular but not to big until Marinette did a case about the supernatural
When she learned that Jason did not believe in it
They spent the whole video arguing over the ghost at the Cesil Hotel in LA
The videos blew up
Jason: I don't know old building are weird they make all sort if weird noises
Marinette: How does a house creaking sound like get out
Jason: Well nobody said weather this person is a credible witness or not
As the youtube channel got more popular Marinette and all the bat boys (all of them got dragged into helping with videos now) started to go to haunted locations during school breaks and when Marinette had breaks in designing for Jagged
The Winchester
Jason: Man this place is bigger than the manor
Marinette: well if you had to keep building to stop ghost from killing you, your house would be huge too
Jason: Wait is that why Wayne Manor is built so weirdly, Bruce is hiding from ghost
The Sally house
Marinette: Fuck this place omg we're all going to be killed by a demon
Jason: How can something that doesn't exist kill you
Jason: Hey demon come on kill me you mother fucker.
Damian (off camera): Jason stop freaking Marinette out.
Jason: Oh I'm sorry Marinette I was wrong. Demons do exsist, one is our camera man
At the bottom of the screen you can see Damian's middle finger
Marinette (to flashlight): Don't turn on don't turn on don't turn on
Flashlight turns on
Marinette: NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE MOCKED IT JASON!!!!
Joker's Hideout
Marinette: it said that this place is haunted by Joker's victims, or that it is possible that this place is infested by a demon who drove Joker mad and drove him to kill
Jason: Well that's convenient, you're a crazy murderous clown, it's all because of a demon.
Marinette: Keep it down Jason we don't know if the Joker is here right now or not
Damian: Wait the Joker might be here. Angel why did you want to come here then?
Marinette looking embarrassed: It was a good case.
Jason standing behind something making a grunting sound
Marinette walks by and sees him: AAAHHHH!! WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU HERE SOUNDING LIKE A FUCKING ZOMBIE.
Goatman Bridge
Jason: I'm dancing on your bridge Goatman it's my bridge now
Marinette: He is going to kill you
Jason: See this Goatman I disrespect your bridge. It's me and Marinette's bridge now
Marinette: Stop pulling me into you bullshit Jason!
Jason: If you're not apart of this then tell Goatman
Marinette: I'm not with him.
Jason: You're talking to Goatman now
Marinette: I see what you did there.
Jason: Hey we're here for the cult stuff
Jason to demons: Hey demons it me ya boy
The fans love the twos dynamic
They also love the random comments Damian would make from behind the camera every once and a while
Sometime between breaks in filming at a location Jason would get candid videos of Damian hugging Marinette
When they sleep overnight at places Damian would always sleep and cuddle with Marinette
The fans love it
And they ship it
One case as a joke is The Mystery of Marinette Dupen-Cheng
This one is Jason and Damian doing the video, while Marinette is away on a tour with Jagged Stone
Half of the video is actually stuff that Marinette does and can do that confuse them
They show a video of Marinette yeeting Jason out of the kitchen when he scared her once
Another video is of Marinette stealing Damian's sweatshirt while she passes him
Just one moment it's on Damian the next Marinette has it
A video of Marinette going head to head with Riddler
And her actually stumping him with one
The other half is just Damian gushing about his girlfriend
Damian: She is just the sweetest girl who deserves the world. I would gladly kill anybody who hurts her. She is just my Angel and I would do anything to make her happy.
It ends with Jason saying: Well that is the mystery of Damian's future wife, weather she's actually human remains unsolved.

So I just saw that post on laziness that you reblogged and I was wondering what your thoughts are on laziness vs procrastination? Because I'm going through a particularly bad round of procrastination, but I don't feel like it's borne out of laziness (which to me, is more of "I don't feel like doing this immediately but I will do it soon"). Whereas procrastination is constantly postponing something but never being able to convince my brain to actually do the task (also any tips on tackling this?)
Hello anon!! Yes hello good hi. first of all, ugh, I’m so sorry you’ve been having a hard time with procrastination lately. it’s rough and I hope it eases up for you.
hmmmm yes, so, laziness and procrastination. WELL. hmm. OKAY. these thoughts might be a bit all over the place, so I hope you’ll bear with me as I ramble on a bit. or a lot. probably a lot! I have a lot of thoughts about it all.
so I think I’d start off by saying that I kind of don’t believe in laziness.
it’s like... for me, laziness is... chronically choosing not to do something that you know you should do, even though that thing is entirely doable for you. that is to say, you have the time for a task, the skills for it, and the ability to motivate yourself to do it - but you regularly choose not to do it.
the key element here is choice. for me, laziness implies not just that a task isn’t done - it implies you could’ve done it, and then you chose not to. but to be able to choose not to do something, that thing has to be completely possible in the first place, right? we wouldn’t say we choose not to fly, we say that we can’t do it, it’s not possible for us. every day that I walk around instead of flying, I’m not being lazy, I’m just not doing something that’s outside my capability. very often (I’d argue always) when we regularly don’t do something, it’s because we cannot do it. it’s not a choice not to do it, because there’s something going on that makes the task impossible in our status quo. I think our ideas about what we can and can’t do, and how serious a barrier it is to not be able to motivate ourselves, are often really skewed by comparison with others. if I lived in a world populated only by birds, maybe I’d think I was procrastinating on flying.
the thing that briefly breaks me out of a procrastination loop is usually panic at the promise of Bad Consequences, i.e. my brain is finally convinced of the importance of the task, but this is a quick one-off fix that doesn’t help the chronic issue, so next time I have to do the same task I’ll follow the same pattern of putting it off until Total Panic Time. and at a certain point, even the Bad Consequences just aren’t enough motivation, and I simply can’t do the task. often I am in distress at not being able to do the task. just as often, the distress is a contributing factor in the task not getting done for longer.
the issue that makes the task not doable for me tends to vary a lot depending on the situation. and I think a lot of people have it the same way, where different issues crop up with different tasks.
- so like sometimes it’s a Success Elsewhere issue. you just can’t believe you can actually decently do the thing you have to do, so you go work at something else that you think you can succeed at. “lazy” to me implies a lack of effort, right? and yet with this one, the things that you do instead of homework or chores or whatever, they often take plenty of effort. like you’re kicking ass at video games, pouring hours into it, because the game makes you feel like you really could be the best!! it’s worth the effort because you get rewards! you’re working, just not at the thing you Should be doing, because you can’t believe working on that thing will lead to any reward/success.
- sometimes it’s a Why Does It Matter issue. sometimes you just aren’t convinced enough that the reward of doing a task is worth the work it’ll take, because you can clearly see that the world is in crisis and it’s exceptionally hard to believe that, say, homework matters when everything feels like it’s on fire.
- sometimes it’s a Fuck You Anyway issue. a lot of people feel alienated by the society we live in, the same society that says hey, you have to do homework, you have to succeed at university, you have to get these grades, you have to be polite, you can’t get angry, you have to respond to emails, you have to do this specific kind of job to make good money or else you won’t have enough. when an authority you don’t trust/a system that is clearly broken tries to shove you into doing something, sometimes you don’t want to bloody do it, you know? sometimes you don’t want to do the small tasks that build up into following a path you don’t believe in.
- sometimes it’s a The World Has Swept Me This Far, What, Are You Saying I Have to Do Things for Myself Now issue. between parents and teachers and societal expectations, a person can go surprisingly far in this world just kind of keeping to the course that other people decide for them. but the map always has edges, right? eventually people stop having a plan for you and you’re quite suddenly expected to know exactly what to do with yourself, and just become a success with the opportunities you’ve been given, but you have no clue whatsoever how to do that. doing nothing in this instance isn’t laziness, it’s not that you want to sit and stagnate - it’s just that you’re doing exactly what you’ve always done: what you’re being guided to do. the only difference is that now you’re not being guided to do anything, so you don’t do anything. you have no idea how to flex the muscles of personal choice; you don’t even know if you have them.
- sometimes it’s a Distraction issue. again, for a huge amount of people, the world is pretty garbage right now. and sometimes you’re clinging on via the happy hormone hit you get when you do something fun, so doing something hard/boring feels like it would push you too far. or sometimes the hard/boring task doesn’t absorb enough of your attention, leaving way too much space for your brain to talk to itself and spiral out of control with bad thoughts and feelings, which it won’t do if you’re watching videos or scrolling on your phone or hanging out with friends etc. given how tailored our brain hormones naturally are to finding the shortest path to happiness, and how relatively easy it is in our culture to find short-term happiness via the internet, I don’t find it surprising that a lot of people just literally cannot engage with doing difficult, boring tasks when there’s a small burst of happiness just one tap away.
- sometimes it’s an Energy issue. bad mental health is a motivation killer. battling depression or anxiety or another mental health issue just leeches away your reserves for other things. you don’t have the spoons for doing a task, but people with more spoons will look at you not doing it and call you lazy - because for them, the task is doable, and they don’t get that for you it is not.
UGH MAN there’s so much more to it than just these separate scenarios, they all interweave and there are loads more of them, and I want to talk about how being neurodivergent affects these things and how being queer affects it too imo, but I feel like I could go on and on forever so I’ll leave it at that. my point is, I think both procrastination and so-called laziness start when for some reason, a task isn’t doable for you. so the key is figuring out why the task isn’t doable, and changing something, and then hopefully being able to chug away at it!
some things that have helped me are:
- getting little bits of help - when my mum and I hang out, she’ll sometimes just sit and chat to me while I clean around her because it’s doable for me while she’s there. collaboration can ease a lot of procrastination woes for me.
- instead of telling myself “I have to do this”, I tell myself “I deserve to have this done”. so like, instead of “I have to clean the bathroom”, it’s “I deserve to live in a clean house”. instead of “I have to do this essay for homework”, it should have been “I deserve to be able to show the skills I have, and get help from my teachers in the places where I have holes in my understanding”. it’s just like, less focus on the dumb task and more focus on the goal that I’ll achieve by doing the task, with a healthy dose of self-validation on the side.
- if the problem’s really chronic and affecting your life in a pretty major way, maybe it’s time to look into whether there’s an underlying issue with the way your brain focuses? I’m autistic, and I have friends with ADHD, and the way our brains focus/don’t focus on things can be hard to manage at times - but understanding what’s going on inside the old brainspace and reading about how other people handle the same things can be a really good way to start breaking the cycle of procrastination.

I'm hurtin' just finished rewatching s3 OG again I can't believe it'll be 4 years soon...just how did something so amazing exist, I'm lucky I got to experience it as it happened...I was wondering during the xmas party how Isak & even celebrated the new year, Isak seemed sort of insecure or fragile (him saying he didn't know if even was the man of his dreams & if it would last) their relationship was so new...if you feel inspired can you do a little drabble pretty please?
So umm sorry that you had to wait, like, six months for this. But it seemed kinda fitting to post this on the 3rd year anniversary of this clip, don’t you think? ;)
(As you can see, I took a little liberty with the prompt. I hope you’ll like it anyway)
——
Isak can’t really remember the last time he wanted to be in the present.
Certainly not at the start of this term, when all he did was work so hard to keep everyone away from his true self that he barely had time to breathe. When every question from the boys, every message from his mother or every stranger casting him a glance on the tram felt like an intrusion into the safe shell he’d built around himself. When he was always on the lookout, always on the run for the next safe stepping stone where nobody could pry too closely and see his real self.
Not during spring, when he tried his hardest to ignore the fact that he was, in fact, sleeping in the basement of some weird dude he barely knew, who’d just taken mercy on him for some reason. Not during summer either, even if he’d been granted the relative heaven of his own room up in the apartment by then.
And definitely not last fall or winter, when everyone and everything around the house was balancing on a knife’s edge, threatening to fall apart and break at the slightest disruption. When the knowledge of what he’d done to his best friend was constantly glued to the insides of his brain, like a sticky black mass that wouldn’t let go.
Not even after he’d met Even, on the sunlit windowsill in his room, under the surface in the pool, not even after Even had broken up with Sonja and they’d had their week of wonder together, kissing in the kitchen, in his room, in the hotel –
Truth is, however relieving and thrilling it had been, it still had felt like it was too good to be true. A constant, nagging reminder in the back of his head: it could be taken from him at any moment. How is this even real? he’d thought more than one time during that short, dream-like week.
And for a little while after, he’d truly believed that it hadn’t been.
He knows better now, though. And looking up across the room to see Even standing there, maybe a little thinner and paler than a couple of weeks ago, but smiling, he realizes, suddenly, that he doesn’t feel the urge to be anywhere else.
Doesn’t want to fast-forward to a distant future where his past won’t be able to catch up with him anymore, doesn’t feel the need to desperately cling to childhood memories of when everything was simple and warm and someone else’s responsibility.
It’s kind of a surprise when it dawns on him that he, for once, actually doesn’t want to be someone else.
So when Eva draws his attention back to her glittery eyes, he can actually look right into them and tell her that even if he doesn’t know what’ll happen tomorrow, it might still be alright. That he’s content enough in the present.
Even if he can feel his heart pick up a little when he asks her to forgive the stupid, selfish mistake he made in first grade, he does ask, and when she shrugs and lets him know that it’s alright, he lets out a breath he didn’t even know he was holding.
For the first time in years, he actually wants to leave things like that behind, not by pretending they never existed, but confess to them. Wipe his slate clean, sort of. Walk into this new, uncertain future without too many ghosts from his pasts hanging over his head.
Where he dares to say yes to what life offers him, and not only no.
Is Even the man of his dreams? When Eva asks him, he’s tempted to say yes. In a way, he believes that Even might be. He’d like to think so.
But, if he’s learnt anything from the past year, it’s that nothing can be taken for granted.
And that he’s so fucking grateful for what he’s got.
He looks up at Eva, her expectant smile, her flushed cheeks. Then, he meets Even’s gaze across the room, and suddenly, he knows.
It doesn’t matter, not really.
What matters is that in a little while Isak will go over to him, maybe actually approach him while he’s still standing under the mistletoe.
That tomorrow, they’re going to Even’s parents – he’s going to his boyfriend’s parents, and even if it does freak him out a little, his heart is kinda fluttering with the knowledge that Even wants him there.
That they’re here, together, him, Even, his friends. Eskild, and the rest of his flatmates that kind of feel like a little… family.
And that right now, for the first time in a long, long while, there’s no place he’d rather be.

Waahhh I would love it if you could write a scenario post FFXII, where an attendant s/o discovers Basch is masquerading as Judge Gabranth??? (like maybe they knew Gabranth before the game and would recognize the voice change once Basch takes up the armor)? Thank you :) I'm so glad there's an FFXII Reader blog.
Everybody loves Lord Gabranth now.
“He’s so kind,” they say.
“I can breathe easy around him now.”
“Lord Larsa’s new rule has brought out the good in everyone.”
But you know better. You know people. Nobody simply changes out of the blue like that! Though relatively new to castle duties, you’ve served as Gabranth’s maidservant since at least the fall of Dalmasca.
Before this “change,” you mostly cleaned, did his laundry, and served him food on the rare occasion he cared to eat in his quarters, so your interactions were limited. But little as you knew him, one thing was certain: like all Judge Magisters, he was to be feared, not adored. And he made sure of it. Once, when he accidentally removed his helmet in your presence, you’d managed to sneak a glance at his face.
He was handsome, to be sure. Exactly what one might imagine if one was stupid enough to romanticize a ruthless Judge Magister. But you knew better, even then, and his eyes were nothing but cold. You easily averted your gaze and left his quarters at once, understanding that you were to speak of it to no one.
Now, suddenly, simply for the death of the Emperor and his mad son, Lord Gabranth has become the kindest man in Ivalice? Preposterous.
Of course, you can’t deny that he is kind nowadays. He acknowledges those who dare to address him, and politely, too.
“Thank you, ________,” he even said this morning, when you brought in his breakfast.
Before then, you weren’t even sure he knew your name. It’s nice, but there has to be something more to his sudden transformation. This Gabranth is not the lord you knew, served, and feared.
Clicking your tongue in frustration, you scrub the floor of his bathroom dutifully. Regardless of his odd change, after all, you still have a job to do. You can’t deny that the Judge Magister certainly does his.
That’s when the sound of shuffling outside snaps you out of your thoughts.
Pausing, you glance up. No one is allowed to be here save you and anyone who would take your place if you were ill, and Lord Gabranth is never home during the day. A thief, then?
You get up and slowly open the door, ready with a broom in hand - when a peculiar sight greets you. Several scars on a muscular back. Old lashings, but not that old - and they sting to even look upon. You stare in horror until something on the bed catches your eye. A helmet, breastplate, gauntlets…
Your gaze snaps back to the scars - or it would, if their owner didn’t just turn to face you.
Your gaze falls to the floor at once. “Forgive me, my lord. I…” Your mind runs over itself trying to think of an excuse, but it’s clear to both of you that his scars distracted you.
Gabranth startles, but his voice is calm. “______. I didn’t realize you were here.”
“I - I was cleaning, Lord Gabranth. Forgive me. I’ll take my tools and leave at once.”
“It really is no matter, _______.”
Your eyebrows furrow. Not at his kind response, but the way he says it. The way he speaks, and his voice… It isn’t just a matter of intonation. You’ve been trying to pin down what it is, but there’s no other way to put it.
His voice is simply….different.
Gabranth’s face now mirrors your knitted brow. “Is aught amiss, _______?”
After a long pause, you softly admit, “Yes.”
His brows lift in surprise at that. “Know that you may speak plainly with me. What is it?”
“…Who are you?”
Gabranth blinks at your sudden question and the way you’ve lifted your broom somewhat, as though ready to defend yourself at any moment. As though it would matter against a Judge Magister. “_______? Have you grown ill?”
“…I’m fine,” you curtly answer. The real Lord Gabranth would be cross at such an accusation. Not concerned. “One does not speak plainly with Lord Gabranth. And…” You rattle away, all your thoughts tumbling out of your mouth, “it would be impossible for him to bear your scars. New scars. Or your voice. Neither was he kind.”
When you finish, Gabranth levels you with such an intense stare that you almost take a step back. Not even the real Lord Gabranth had ever looked at you like that. Still, you hold your ground, even if you’re barely able to stop yourself from nervously gulping.
“Did he hurt you?” is what he asks.
Relief washes over you, but so does alarm. At least he isn’t angry, but…
“No, never,” you murmured. “But—”
Gabranth sighs, letting his shoulders slump as he runs a hand through his short hair. “I had thought my acting fine enough to fool even those closest to my brother. I see I was wrong.”
His brother…? That is the only plausible explanation, you suppose. But why? “Well, yes… You and Lord — the real Lord Gabranth are markedly different.”
You speak without hesitation, but Gabranth doesn’t miss the question in your eyes. When? “During the battle with Vayne,” he answers it. “It was his last wish that I protect Lord Larsa, as he had.”
There are so many questions on your mind. Where did this man come from? Does the Emperor know? And is Lord Gabranth really…?
It isn’t as though he had been anything more than your master, but knowing that someone you knew passed away, and to no one else’s knowledge… Tears prick your eyes, to your confusion, and to this Gabranth’s shock.
Your chest heaves for a moment, taking in the news - and then you school your features into the neutrality of a trained maidservant. But you still can’t bring yourself to speak.
Gabranth watches you for a time, perhaps waiting for your response, but your reaction isn’t lost on him. He lets a moment of silence pass before he speaks again.
“I suppose it didn’t help that I smiled. He wasn’t one to smile, was he?”
The sudden question - or the smile that graces this Gabranth’s features - makes you think of the real one, and how he might look if he smiled. You find that even with one on this Gabranth’s face, you can’t imagine it on the old one.
“No. And neither did your sudden change in manner and temperament,” you say, unable to help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation. Gabranth gives the smallest chuckle that makes you laugh even harder - at least until tears begin to slip onto your cheeks. Dropping your broom, you rush to wipe them even as you weep. “I’m sorry…”
“Don’t be.” Gabranth - because that is who he is now - draws closer when it is clear you won’t push him away. He rests a hand on your shoulder. “I am glad - that he had someone who cared for him. I am sorry you could not know. Lord Larsa thought it best.”
Your gaze lowers again. “I had no right to. I was merely his maidservant. I didn’t really know Lord Gabranth.”
“Few did. Nevertheless.”
You can’t help but look up at his kind voice - one that matches his kind gaze. He bears a scar across one eyebrow, and now that you know the truth, you see all the little differences in their appearance. How could you ever have mistaken him for the true Gabranth? Still… he is handsome, just like his brother. And though his voice is much more gravelly, it isn’t unpleasant.
And his form…
His half-naked form.
Suddenly, your face blooms red and you turn your back on the Judge. “I’m sorry for intruding, Lord Gabranth. I’ll take my tools and go.”
You hurry into the bathroom as Gabranth appears to realize his state of undress. When you return, he looks peculiar in a tunic and the bottom half of his armor. Before you can scurry out, however…
“Wait.”
You turn, hoping you are no longer as red as you feel. Now that you’ve realized just how handsome this kind man is, you can’t quite look him in the eye, and heat pricks at your back in embarrassment. You are suddenly aware of how plain you might look in your maidservant’s dress.
“Don’t fret, Lord Gabranth. Your secret is safe with me.”
“It isn’t that. _______… we have our duties, but might we speak again?”
This time, you do gulp. He wants to see you again? “Milord?”
“You knew my brother, and now you know me - something true of no one in Archades but the Emperor. I must admit, I find it a relief.”
Oh.
“Oh. Well…”
“And - I would like to hear of what you knew of him, however little. But I understand if you don’t wish to—”
“I would love to,” you blurt out, before he can withdraw the invitation.
Gabranth pauses, and then smiles, gaze lingering on yours. It seems as though he’s looking at you for the first time. “I am glad to hear it. …Dinner, perhaps?”
“I - I suppose?” You clear the nerves from your throat. What is the matter with you? He’s only asking to speak with you again to discuss his brother. You don’t even know this man, and yet… “Yes.”
“Thank you, _______.”
“Good day, milord.” You nod, giving a quick curtsy before rushing outside with your tools. You lean against the wall as you shut the door behind you, trying to calm your beating heart.
You will mourn Lord Gabranth. He deserves that, at least. But perhaps this new one isn’t so bad after all.
//
Here you go! Thank you so much for the ask! I love Basch and i needed this to kick me back into gear! Love Noah by extension, but I wonder how s/o will react to the knowledge that Basch’s scars were Noah’s doing. I know there wasn’t much romance, but s/o is getting a bit of a crush! :D (And so is Basch.)
I still have the previous asks to answer and I will absolutely get to them! I’ve just gone through a change of life-everythings and so it’s taken me a while to get back into the groove, I’m so sorry guys! But this definitely helped and I’ll be picking up and finishing the other asks soon c: sorry to keep you guys waiting oTL

This 9-Week Squat Challenge Gave Me a Butt I'm Finally Proud Of
I'm not your average exerciser. I grew up playing varsity sports (soccer, swimming, more soccer). I played on a nationally ranked rugby team in college. And I now CrossFit six days week. I have shapely arms and a strong core–yet, I hate my tush. (And I hated it even when my parents still called it my "patootie”.)
It's the butt my relatives used as an excuse to kick me off their laps. “It's too bony!” they'd say. The butt whose absence became even more apparent when I started strength training, the butt that's the reason I wear long cardigans whenever I shimmy into a pair of jeans.
The truth is, the appearance of my butt is partially out of my control. “Genetics is a major component of where we store our fat and how we develop muscle, so genetics is a huge determinator of the size and shape of your butt,” physical therapist and certified strength and conditioning specialist Grayson Wickham, founder of Movement Vault, told me when he overheard me complaining of my flat rear.
Still, I thought there must be something I could do to make my bum a little more JLo and a little less JFlat. Besides, in addition to filling out pants, there are a ton of benefits of having stronger, bigger glutes: increased metabolism, improved posture, faster running, and lifting heavier weights during my CrossFit workouts.
So when I found out my CrossFit box was starting a nine-week squat challenge with CrossFit coach Ian Berger, founder of Altrufuel and the Endure Podcast, I was in. Could my peach really be just a couple months away? I decided I would squat (and squat hard) to find out.

All the CrossFitters participating in the program with me had, at the very least, a one-week onboarding process to learn how to properly back and front squat with a barbell. And we had Coach Berger there to make sure we were resting enough (but not too much!) between sets. Wickham suggests that beginner squatters first master the air squat and the goblet squat before progressing to the barbell and embarking on this kind of program.
If you're ready for something like this, here's how to do the exercises.
The back squat
Position a barbell on a rack so that it's level with your collarbones, and place your hands shoulder-width apart on the bar. Step under it so that it rests on the tops of your shoulders, then squeeze your elbows down to "pull" the bar towards you. Gently lift the barbell off the rack, and take two steps back. Position your feet shoulder-width apart with your toes facing slightly out. Inhale and drop your hips down and back to lower into your squat. As you exhale, push through your heels to stand up, making sure your knees don't fall inward. That's one rep.
The front squat
Position a barbell on a rack so that it's level with your collarbones, and place your hands shoulder-width apart on the bar. Step toward the barbell so that it's resting along your chest, then gently lift it off the rack, and take two steps back. Stand with your feet hip-width to shoulder-width apart. Brace your core, inhale, then drop your butt back and down as you keep your chest up, sitting back onto your heels without shifting your weight forward onto the balls of your feet. Exhale and drive through your heels. Come back up to standing and give your glutes a squeeze. That's one rep.

My experience
Like I said, I've been lifting and CrossFitting for quite a few years, so I more or less had the movements down before I started this challenge. But it was nice having a pro like Coach Berger there every step of the way to give me form tips if things got sloppy. Here's how following this booty-building program went for me.
Weeks 1-3: Everything hurts and I'm starving
I started the program feeling excited. I wore booty shorts every day we squatted for the first month of the program as if to say, “See ya later, tiny tuchus!” I felt optimistic–I front squatted 185 pounds for five reps and back squatted 200, if you must know–and was surprised that these lifting sessions only took about 20 minutes total each day. But I woke up every Tuesday and Thursday morning–after lifting the previous night–sore. And hangry.
And it wasn't just my glutes that were sore. It was everything! According to certified personal trainer Alex Silver-Fagan, a Nike and MIRROR trainer, yoga instructor, and founder of FlowIntoStrong, that's totally normally. “Barbell squats work your entire lower body as well as your core, plus the upper and lower back.”
As for the increased hunger? Also normal. “In addition to building up strength, heavy squats can rev up your metabolism,” says Silver-Fagan. But properly fueling is actually a key part of booty growth, she says, so she encouraged me to eat as my body needed.
Weeks 4-6: I started taking the elevator–and focusing on recovery
Status update: still sore. I started taking the elevator up the three flights to my apartment, which felt seriously defeating considering when I first moved in I'd promised myself I'd stay away from the elevator unless I broke my legs (knock on wood). I started prioritizing my recovery after these squat sessions so hobbling up and down a few flights of stairs wasn't so “ouch!” producing.
I started using the TheraGun Professional Massager-you know, the jackhammer-esque tool you've seen celebs post about on Instagram-after my workouts, which definitely loosened the tight spots. I also made regular use of my foam roller, worked on my hip mobility, and definitely took a Pretty Woman-inspired bath or two.
Weeks 7-9: I'm definitely getting stronger and my whole body feels more stable
Seven weeks in, I could really tell I was getting strong–which was confirmed during the ninth week of the challenge when I was able to back and front squat 10 pounds more than I could during week one!
In addition to feeling like my bum was rounder, my core had definitely tightened up. "If you're doing a squat properly, you're bracing and engaging your core muscles for every single rep,” Silver-Fagan explains.
Truthfully, I felt sturdier all around. Lower-body exercises like squats promote stability in the knees, which can help prevent ACL tears (which are especially common in women), according to the American Council on Exercise. Sure, it could be all in my mind, but I think my knees do feel more stable!
The bottom line
I'm proud of myself for sticking to the program from beginning to end. I seriously got stronger, and my glutes looked bigger.
Silver-Fagan says these are the results I should have expected: “Sticking to any program that's intentionally designed by an expert is beneficial for increased strength and conditioning, especially a squat program. When you aren't on a specific program and instead vary your workouts every single day, your body can't begin to keep up and make change.”
Whether or not you should do a nine-week squat challenge depends on your personal goals. But for me, my new backside confidence and strength was definitely worth the investment.

Test 3 rep max
Test 3 rep max

What I'm Reading This Month... (Plus a few other recommendations)
Reading is my thing that I love with all my heart and neglect as a last priority in the checklist of things-to-do in life. (And poorly timed with the new season of The Black Mirror, I mean, hello!)
But I love it.
I love books, I love audiobooks. I love e-books. #givemeallthebooks
And as much as I like books (love books) from my favorite authors, I'm always looking for new books and #NYTBestsellers sometimes does and sometimes doesn't fit the mold. I'm not a bandwagoner on all things.
So, here's my take on everything I've read (and listened to) in the past 2 months and why I recommend or don't recommend them. Because hey, honesty.
I'm also going to be starting a book club in February that will run every month for this year! It will start on February 1st and run for the month (at which point about a week previous to the end of the month I'll share what the book is so you can all run out and grab it or download it or reserve it or whatnot, and in our Facebook group we'll have a discussion when the month is up about the book). Just a little way to A) read more and B) talk more. :) I'm also always open to suggestions, so please share with me!
Books I read since October - January and LOVED. As in, you must take my advice and read them now.
1.
So, the first book I read of Jojo Moyes was Me Before You. Of course it was. But that book just really affected me. By now you've probably read the book or seen the movie so I don't need to recap for you that whole storyline, but it was so unique and different that even though I wrestled with the outcome, it was refreshingly honest and real. I was so impressed with her authorship that I had to start reading more of her books. I actually had One Plus One sitting in my iBooks library as a sample for like, two years maybe, and on my Audible download list for at least a year. Something about when I started it never hooked me and I don't know why, but I was at a point this fall where I had nothing to read and needed sometihng new and hey, there's a book sitting right there in front of me. SO glad I started it.
In a nutshell, One Plus One is about a young single mom named Jess who barely scraped by and struggles to make ends' meet. She was (is?) married but her husband vanished one day in need of mental space. Two years later and she has no idea where he is, although she thinks he is living with his mother. Together they had one daughter, a math prodigy named Tanzie (Costanza) and her husband's son from a previous relationship that she adopted named Nicky. All the while struggling to provide for her family, she works part time as a cleaner for the super-rich Ed, who has made some poor choices when it comes to suspected insider trading. Ed is about to get in a lot of trouble, and at a moment when Jess and co are in need of a ride to Scotland for Tanzie's "Math Olympiad" challenge (something that could land her an opportunity to receive a superior education for virtually no cost), he picks them up and they caravan on a never-to-be-forgotten road trip up north. It has something for everyone: Heart, love, encouragement, humor... I just loved this book so much and I was so sad when it was over! DEFINITELY check it out.
2.
So, this was the very first time ever that I have read this book. As a Christian and someone who went to private school, I feel like it should have been required reading and in my curriculum at some point so I'm surprised I never read it. But honestly, I am SO GLAD I never read it because there is no way that my small mind of youth could have comprehended the absolutely powerful message of grace and truth and forgiveness and redeeming love of God over our lives in all circumstances. There's just no way. I think I would have thought it was a nice story, but not until being an adult and really, truly getting it can I say that this is one of the best books I have ever read in my life.
In short, Redeeming Love is based off of the story of Hosea and Gomer in the book of Hosea in the Bible. God tells Hosea that he is to marry Gomer, who would be the absolute very last person a righteous man like Hosea would expect for his own life. But he obeys God and marries her. He tries to show her love but she continues to run away from him in pursuit of what she thinks she wants. In the book, Michael Hosea (the main protagonist) continues to pursue his wife, Sarah (or Angel as she wants to be called) over and over and over again. I was in tears, like LITERALLY NEEDED TO PULL THE CAR OVER kind of tears at the end of the story and I am legit even tearing up right now with goosebumps. It's powerful stuff, and I will absolutely read it again. So yes. Get this book on Amazon right now or download it or check it out. Honestly friends, I know we all share so many different faiths and that is okay. Redeeming Love is this book that tells a story, a fictional story, about a broken girl, broken into pieces and at a place so far away from who she really is that she doesn't even know herself, and is pieced back together by this pursuant, endless love that takes years and years to manifest and make whole again. You've just got to read it. Trust me.
What I read and didn't love
1. The Sunshine Sisters by Jane Green
I've been reading Jane Green for almost twenty years. The first book of hers I read was Jemima J and then I never stopped after that. I will probably always read every book she writes just because it's what I do, but I just feel like her books have really become rushed and not in the true"Jane" spirit of her earlier writing. The Sunshine Sisters was unique, but relatively predictable. It was about three sisters who was the daughters of the famous actress "Ronnie Sunshine" who has yet to be able to let go of her previous fame and notoriety even though she has long retired from acting. She and her daughters have a strained relationship (as do they with each other), but when she becomes ill her only wish is to have them reconciled. It chronicles each of their own paths and issues and struggles and then combines together in the end in something that is pretty unrealstic and sub-par. Maybe you think it's great or you loved the book. I just felt like, "Ho hum." Her books always come out in the summer so they are great beach and pool reads and there is definitely a niche and time and place for that. The book is okay and if you like Jane Green's stuff, you'll definitely want to at least give it a once-through but don't have any high hopes.
2. The Identicals by Elin Hilderbrand
I think Jane Green and Elin Hilderbrand are friends. These two stories about siblings with strained relationships were similar and after awhile it just got kind of old. If I had sibling issues the last thing I would want to do is read about it by the pool. It had the same type of predictability but yet you just keep reading because you hope it will be different. These two sisters live on opposite islands: Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. They had a falling out over a personal matter and they have never reconciled since. Their father recently passed away and their mother begged them to reunite, so for circumstances I honestly cannot remember right now off the top of my head, they agreed to change houses and islands even though they still despised one another. It was annoying to have them be so negative about their relationships with each other like up until the very final second of the book. Which of course is again predictable. Oh well. Some reads are for being light and superfluous and having not a lot of depth and that's how I felt this book was.
Books I'm Reading Now
1.
My best friend and I were Christmas shopping together this past month and popped into the Amazon bookstore at the mall. She decided to buy her sisters books for Christmas and basically threw this book into my hands. That's my kind of recommendation. I'm only about halfway through, but this book is set in Seattle (which is fun) and is about a mom, a dad their daughter who is an only child and the way they live their lives which seems relatively normal to them but potentially highly dysfunctional to the world around them. The dad is a high up, super important and super brilliant exec at Microsoft, the mom is an architectural genius, their daughter is really smart and attends a local private school and they live in a falling-apart home that is a converted commercial building in Queen Anne because the mom just fell in love with it. It chronicles their misunderstandings and personal dealings as a family (currently their daughter just wants a trip to Antarctica for her 8th grade graduation and the parents have agreed). It's so funny, quirky, lovely, and I can't wait to finish it and see how it all wraps up. I'll post my review in full next month!
2.
This book is set in France, in a small village outside of Paris. The protagonist is Sophie, who is an innkeeper and whose husband was taken away two years prior due to the Nazi occupation of Germany within France. German troops have commanded Sophie to board their soldiers at her inn, so she complies but ends up befriending the main general who shows her kindness in the midst of all that is occurring. She is conflicted, but because she has children (and runs the in with her sister and nieces and nephews), takes the kindness of the German so that her children can eat and balances all that is involved with boarding the soldiers delicately. I'm only about 1/4 of the way through but honestly, this book reminds me SO much of The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah which is my most favorite book of all time (rivaled in a close second by Redeeming Love). I'm listening to this on Audible when I cook dinner or sometimes if I have time to myself in the car, and I am loving the storyline so far and can't wait to hear how the plot continues to develop. (For what it's worth, The Girl You Left Behind was published before The Nightingale.)
So, I would love to know what you're reading and what you recommend I read next! Leave your reply in the comments or on social media and let me know why you recommend it! (You can also let me know what you don't recommend-- I appreciate that information, also.) ;)

What I'm Watching August 2016 as of 8/31
Natsume's Book of Friends 8/31 partial watch
This is an adorable anime, I started watching italmost right after Durarara, and if school hadnt just started this week, I would have been fully caught up. As of this post I have only watched seasons 1 and 2 fully, and a little bit of season 3. So in technicality I will write my opinion of it after I am all caught up on the September monthly watches, but because I got halfway through the series while still in August I decided to put this little note here, haha.
So yes, I have been watching this super cute, heartwarming, feel good anime. It's about a boy named Natsume who can see yokai. Often times I get very weary about plots (whether anime, tv show, movie, ect) where the main character can see something no one else can. However this anime does a good job focusing more on the stories rather than simply torturing the main character through ostracization. Well, I will pick this first impression review that I usually do in September when I finish the four season that have been released. So look forward to it!
Durarara 8/27 Addendum (see original post below Time of Eve)
I talked about this anime a little further down in this post after I finished the first season (so read that first if you haven't yet). I finished the entirety of the show last night and wow. It's an incredible story, so intricate and everything is woven together. It's one of those shows where because they switch between multiple characters and plot lines within the show, and because it is a mystery with new information and twists happening all the time, that you forget your own emotions about the characters sometimes.
Tons of things happen that make you feel for the characters and suddenly exclaim in reaction to something, but because your so constantly wrapped up in the story line, trying to figure out how this relates to that, and what this persons motives are, and whats going to happen next that you focus so much more on that than anything else. It constantly has you thinking, which I love about the show. A show that doesn't rely on pure emotion and shock to keep the audience in, but sheer curiosity. It's a good mystery, a really, really good one.
Though I can see why some people may not like it because it makes you think too much, or because there's less pure emotion, or because it's so intricate and you can't keep up, or even because the pacing is somewhat relatively slow. But I assure you, if you can get past all that, this is an amazing show. It's not one that I will gush over, and try to force you to watch, because that's not the kind of show it is. It's just well put together, as I assume the light novel is.
I've just starting reading the light novel, and there is so much more to it. I'm on chapter two and while the anime's first episode did a wonderful job capturing the events and feel of the light novel, the light novel has the intricate detail and thought of the characters that is impossible to convey through any other medium. I am really excited to be reading the source material, and I hope that it will be able to expand and close up some of the holes from the anime that the studio could not fill. When I finish, I'll definitely talk about it (when is the question since not all the novels have been translated...), so look forward to that, because I know I will.
Great show, good to watch if you like intricate, multi-character, multi-story, mystery, action, somewhat supernatural, 'semi-natural' anime. (p.s the dub is pretty dang good.)
Time of Eve 8/21
Yes, yes, I'm well aware that in this giant span of time I've only managed to watch one short 6 episode-er anime. I was on vacation and then fell down the rabbit hole which was the Lego Harry Potter years 5-7 game.
Anyway, I had seen this anime in passing a few times, but finally decided to give it a chance when one of my co-workers recommended it to me. It was definitely worth the watch. Time of Eve is a sci-fi anime taking place in the not quite as distant as you might think future, where androids are commonplace within the average family home. We follow Rikuo who, after reading the location log of his family andriod, discovers that the andriod visited a cafe of her own free will. Confused and concerned, he visits the cafe to find that its only rule is to treat humans and androids equally without discrimination. From here on he, and the audience discover that there is more to androids than just being a robot, and that they are, or have been steadily developing their own individuality.
Right off the bat I was immediately reminded of both Ghost in the Shell and Chobits. Mostly Ghost in the Shell for the political-socio topics the anime discuses. Its actually quite fascinating, not just the topics and themes, but the personalities of the characters as well whether or not they are human. Its a very realistic/natural anime, with a surprising amount of character development for being only six episodes long.
My only critiques would be about the animation itself. Its generally rather smooth, the art style included, however there are many moments where the movement of the camera and characters is very choppy and shaky. This happens mainly when there isn't much movement happening during the scene. Whereas scenes where characters are doing a large amount of movement are very smooth and well animated. I'm not sure how intentional the 'choppiness' of the animation was, but I can tell that the studio chose to focus its animation budget on certain areas more than others.
Regardless, the animation is easy to brush off considering how well the show drew me into the story, mentally and emotionally. I would recommend this to anyone interested in sci-fi, robots/androids, and those who like to question what it is to be 'human'. (It's also a good commentary on 21st century culture and what kinds of things our technology could lead to).
Durarara (season 1) 8/8
Its about a boy named Mikado who decides to go to a highschool in Ikebukuro to fulfill his longing for the excitement of city life in contrast to living in the country where nothing every happens. Here he hears about and witnesses strange rumors about the headless rider, gangs, and other odd phenomenon that are happening in the city. That's how it begins, but we learn very quickly that Mikado is not the only main character, and that there is a lot more going on in the city than just Mikado would know.
I actually decided to start watching this because of this shirt I got with my Akibento back in May featuring Celty the headless motercylcist from Durarara and Haruhi from the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. (btw not my own image)
Yes this was back in May, and yes I did start watching it a few months ago only to now finish the first season. Its a very slow paced anime, like a slow burn, which is why it took so long for me to get through. Don't get me wrong its a good anime, and I did want to watch which is why I periodically came back to it after i finished binge watching a bunch of other anime. It's just slow paced, and not one that will hook you and chain you down to your seat for the next 6+ hours. Hell, I've binge watched anime that I've liked much less than this one.
That being said, its not just slow paced but it also has numerous stories happening at once. Which makes it hard to give a good synospis on. We immediately learn about or at least meet almost all the characters, and are introduced with a number of plots, topics and questions. All which seemingly have nothing to do with each other, but end up intertwining to create a complex and fascinating story. by the time I finally managed to get halfway through, I consistently watched the remaining episodes back to back. The fact that it was available in English dub on crunchyroll also really helped, that way I could do my packing for my vacation while watching it.
Its a great low key supernatural mystery anime. I say low key, because the supernatural aspect is sort of laid back? It's not an in your face over the top kind of supernatural, and it being supernatural is not even the main point of the show. Which is very nice. It's like a semi-natural action/mystery/supernatural anime. Further the characters and story lines are well put together.
All in all, I really like it and I'm going to keep watching. I don't know if it's something that I would necessarily be able to recommend, because that relies heavily on what kind of anime you would like. If you like semi-natural, complex, slow paced, laid back action/mystery/supernatural then you'll like this. But if you cant handle the slow pacing, or prefer more out of the above genres this is not one for you.
Dance in the Vampire Bund 8/6
I actually remember watching this anime, or at least i remember watching the first episode, back in middle school? Possibly? we either way, I loved the first episode, even re watching it now I still really enjoyed it, which was disappointing when the rest of the anime turned out to be so different.
In the show, vampires have just come out of hiding and declared their presence to the world. The princess of the vampires, and current ruler Mina, pays Japans debt and intends to use her political hold over the government to purchase an Island and have it become its own separate country designated only for vampires. Meanwhile Akira a highschooler who recently lost his memory finds out he and Mina have an important past that he cannot remember.
The problem that I have with this anime is that they try to mix a very 'young' or immature story line with a significantly more mature one. They try to mix a highschool vampire warewolf memory loss, basically everything that is the epitome of a bad pre-teen romance with mature themes such as the VERY heavy political aspect that takes up a good 50% of the anime. And not just government politics, but socio-historical political relations between different species and cultures. Don't get me wrong, its still a better love story than twilight, but the fact that it is a highschool love story pretty much ruins it for me.
I wouldn't recommend this, hell i didn't even have the will to finish the last few episodes. The political parts were great and fascinating, but the immaturity of how conflicts are resolved between the main characters is very disappointing. The show either tries too hard to appeal to an older audience, or tries too hard to appeal to a younger audience. Either way I didn't really like it.
Hyouka 8/2 TOP PICK FOR THIS MONTH!!
So the first thing i need to mention is that this show is first and foremost a slcie of life that happens to include a lot of mystery. Not a mystery that happens to be a slice of life. I originally thought it was the latter which was why I was disappointed that it didn't end the series with a mystery arc, but instead the way a slice of life would. When you acknowledge the show for what it really is, a natural slice of life, it is amazing. For numerous reasons.
First the artwork is so incredibly detailed and beautiful. Second the visuals are distinctly different for each thing ti tries to convey, and completely succeeds in doing so. The audio is amazing, the music is beautiful, the animation is so smooth and they even animate things that aren't necessary to the plot but are animated anyway to make it all feel so REAL. Not to mention the episodes and mysteries are so well written!
look at the incredible amount of detail they put into EVERY SINGLE SCENE.
even when the background is blurred!
even people who we never learn about or see again have details in their clothes, faces, and expressions. I checked, we NEVER see these people below actually interact with the main OR minor cast.
I almost forgot, this show is about Houtarou a high schooler that sees the world in 'gray'and whose motto is "If I don't have to do it, I won't. If I have to do it, I'll make it quick." Convinced by his already graduated sister, he joins the classics club which was endangered to be disbanded because there were no more members. He meets a girl named Eru who also joins the club and discovers that he has a knack for solving mysteries. That is, only when Eru earnestly goes to him and yearns for him to solve the mystery because her curiosity cannot be contained. From there they quickly discover that the classics club has a past shrouded in mystery.
Its incredibly well done, I love slow the pacing myself, because it fits the flow and nature of the anime. However I do have a number of issues with it myself (some reveal content spoilers so I won't state those here).  I admit that the way they ordered large mystery arch and single episode mysteries was not handled well at the very end. Don't get me wrong the ending fit the characters incredibly well and was very good and realistic, however considering the quality of the larger mysteries that were prevalent through the rest of the anime, I feel that they should have ended the series with a multi-episode arc and then one final single episode arc, rather than many single episode arcs strung together.  The anime was an adaptation of a light novel, which covered 4 out of the 5 published novels. I've taken a look at the titles of the chapters and it seems that the 5th book is quite the elaborate story. One I would have liked to have seen in the anime, though would clearly have gone over the 22 episodes the anime ended at. Perhaps since this write up for the episode is already so long, I will create a post just about this anime. It definitely deserves more talking about!
Anyway, I do recommend it to veteran-ed anime watchers. It has a wonderful pace that does not push by quickly, great character development and insight, and fascinating mysteries and dialogue regarding such. Its perfect for anyone who loves natural slice of life. Those who enjoy mysteries would also enjoy this, as long as they understand that it is mostly a slice of life, and thus will follow the format of slice of life and not the format of a mystery anime. Its a stunning anime.

What I'm Watching June 2016
Here I will post the anime's that I am currently watching or re-watching, of course this does not include simulcasts as they are in a separate category all together. No, this is a list of the (some partially completed) anime that I binge watch. This post is constantly updated, as I tend to go through a single anime in its entirety within a couple of days, so keep your eye out!
6/25 Blood Blockade Battlefront
Tumblr media
Let me get this down now. This anime is visually beautiful, sooooooo much time went into the art and details. Its movie quality beautiful, which is very unusual in a series. So onto the series itself it's about a boy who began living in a post apocalyptic New York after the gates between the human world and the 'monster' world opened. The characters are great, the premise was great, the episodes were great, everything was going wonderfully. Until the anime took an arrow to the knee... Metaphorically of course. So much was left unresolved, and in the last few episodes an obstacle was haphazardly thrown at us. I didn't check the episode count before watching the anime so I was shocked when I found out that there were only 13 (well 12 really) episodes. I get the impression that the studio was initially expecting to do a full 24 ep season considering the pacing of the anime up until episode 10. Evidently this is where the anime diverges quite a bit from the manga itself (my guess is that its unfinished. SOOOOO many anime are left in disappointment because the anime company decides to start a series before the manga has a chance to complete itself leaving the anime with a weird and out of place ending. sigh)
It really is a huge shame that Blood Blockade Battlefront ended the way it did. And its a shame that this recent trend of only creating 'half seasons' has once again resulted in a poor ending. I really liked this anime too, like I said earlier it was amazing. Seriously here's a quote from Toshi Nakamura who wrote a review of the anime itself.
"All in all, Blood Blockade Battlefront was a beautiful jewelry box filled with glittering stones that are individually beautiful, but when you put them on a string to make a necklace, on a whole, they lose a lot of their shine. Plus it feels like some of the most precious gems were left in the box."
My thoughts exactly. Those loose gems left in the box being the other 12 episodes this anime deserved in order to make one complete 24 ep season. I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS.
Its so hard trying to recommend an anime when the end is a let down. I want people to see it because the first 9 episodes are fabulous, but I don't want to subject an unsatisfactory anime to anyone. Its not like the ending was bad, for how last minute it was, it was pretty well done, and it did make sense. It just wasn't the ending this anime deserved. If your willing to take this on I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the paranormal genre. Maybe it would just be best to read the manga. Its definitely on my list to read.
6/21 Sankarea Undying Love re-watch
Tumblr media
Last time I watched this anime it was in high school after a friend recommended it to me. So I figured why not watch it again? Its a short 12 episode zombie love story. Haha, yup a zombie slice of life love story. In the world of American media, its a really unusual combination of genres, but in anime its no real surprise. I suppose the only real surprise about the anime is the fact that its relatively good, and not at all a harem like High School of the Dead. Its very cute and I think well done. The main female characters father is a total creep and wack-job but that is one of the reasons why he is the main antagonist. For being a zombie anime, its very laid back and you'll find out why as you watch it. Sankarea is an anime that I would recommend to people if I was aware of what kind of anime they liked. If you like the zombie scene but want to watch something not totally gruesome and hyped up, or if you like unusual/ supernatural/ paranormal/ ect. romances I think this is worth a shot.

WOW, this was really good. I initially started watching this because Funimation's YouTube channel posts trailers and promo videos for its anime. I watched the promo trailer for the English dub, recognized a lot of the voice actors in it and decided to give it a try. I'm gonna say this now, it's probably the best slice of life anime I have seen. and I mean full on slice of life, no paranormal or fantasy or anything else, it's pure slice of life. Its well written, the episodes flow, and its got a great story and great characters. The premise is that a young 20-something artist calligrapher Seishu punches a man who criticized his work as being unimaginative. As a result Seishu's father sends him to live on a rural island to 'cool his head'. The anime then follows the life of Seishu as he makes unexpected friendships and discovers who he is as an artist.
I just loved this anime, If you like slice of life, yes DEFINITELY watch this. Same if you like watching characters grow and their struggle to discover themselves, or if you like comedy, or if you like realism, or if you want a well made anime to calm down with after watching an emotionally draining one. Even if your not into the genre I recommend you give the first episode a try at least. I was immensely impressed with it.
Oh, and the full series won't be released in English until August 9, 2016, but Funimation is releasing the first two episodes in English on June 28th. I know I will definitely be re-watching this when the full English dub release comes out!!

I LOVED this anime when it came out last year. I remember getting to the last few episodes and going to the public library to finish watching it because the power went out in my house. I just finished re-watching it with one of my friends who had never seen it before. Haha, she was mad at me cause she got so invested in it. It is a doozy. But anyway, it follows high school boy Yuu Otosaka who recently became aware of a supernatural ability of his to be able to control a persons body for 5 seconds at a time. After abusing this power to cheat his way into a good high school, a girl named Tomoe catches him and makes him transfer to a school for people with other abilities. It goes on from there showing their lives, introducing characters and fortifying relationships until the REAL plot reveals itself~
If you like supernatural anime this is a really one, full story in only 13 episodes. It also touches up on quite a few 'heavy' topics, which it actually handles really well. I do recommend this to anyone actually, it was my third favourite 2015 anime of the one I watched that year.
(Bonus: I don't know who wrote this or how far into the anime hey were in, but I agree.)

Oh man, I love this show. I just watched their two A-kon panels from a few weeks ago, and it's great. Just watch this show, make sure you watch it. Here's a link to my post on my favourite parody/abridge series where I talk about this show more. You don't have to know the original anime to enjoy it (I didn't watch Free until recently), so get on YouTube type it in and get going!
6/13 Princess Jellyfish (re-watch)
Tumblr media
Alright, So now you guys are up to speed on the anime I watched during my vacation, I just started re-watching Princess Jellyfish. Oh man, I completely forgot about this little gem. I first watched it my freshman year of college (two years ago), and LOVED it. It's basically about a household of otaku young women, and one in particular who is in love with jellyfish, who make friends with their arch enemy, a stylish person! Haha, it is hilarious and a great commentary on stereotypes/social norms in Japanese culture (and really many other first world cultures for that matter.) I am having so much fun re-watching this series, it is slice of life so there is not much of an overarching plot so much as it is just following the exploits of the group after becoming friends with said stylish person I mentioned earlier. Each episode flows naturally into the next creating a constant story with each episode having to do with the next. So despite it being a slice of life, there are no filler episodes that forgotten or have nothing to do with anything. it also consistently references pop-culture and media not just from Japan, but from America too. Really, I can't express how great it is. Watch it, you won't regret it.
6/9 & 6/12
HEY! Sorry for the inactivity, I was on vacation out of state. While I was not able to do anything on this site for the past week, I was able to watch a few anime! AND hey are new ones!
So during my summer vay-cay (haha, thats such a terrible word) I watched:
Dusk Maiden of Amnesia
Tumblr media
and Amnesia
Tumblr media
Dusk Maiden of Amnesia was good. It's about a high school boy who makes a friend out of a ghost, Yuuko, who doesn't remember anything from when she was alive. In terms of content, while they do try to figure out how she died and who she is, a good portion is about tellig the story of the two main characters. Doing high school activities, developing relationships, ect. While the anime does frequently talk about the mystery and paranormal throughout these episodes, its not until the end of the series that the mystery of Yuuko ACTUALLY begins being solved, and they find out REAL information of her past. In hindsight, her past and the climax of the series is thrust upon you towards the end. It would have been better in my opinion if the events and info were more evenly dispersed throughout each episode from the beginning. I still really liked this anime, though I'm not sure as to how good it is. If your into the sort of subdued paranormal scene, then you may want to give this a shot. Its short, its sweet, I really liked learning about Yuuko's past when it finally got around to it, and I personally really liked it. But again, if you like the paranormal, you may like this. If your not into paranormal stuff, then I wouldn't recommend it.
Now Amnesia was a whole different box of pillows. By that I mean body pillows, and by that I mean I am sure that there area tons available. Why? Because this short anime was adapted from a dating sim called Amnesia: Memories. I wish I had known that before I started watching it, but no matter. In terms of dating sim adaptations, it's pretty good. In terms of an anime, not so much. The premise for both the anime and the game is that you are a girl who just woke up and knows absolutely nothing about herself, where she is, or who anyone else is. She has, you guessed it, amnesia. Amnesia caused by a fairy 'bumping' into her? which doesn't make too much sense. (but hey at least it wasn't because she performed horrific acts of manslaughter, created a patchwork monster, and played a huge part in nearly destroying humanity all so Alexander could become godlike, am I right?) Anyway, she wakes up and begins jumping alternate worlds in which she is dating different guys, thus the dating sim part comes in. In therms of the anime itself, the plot is a little wobbly waiting until the last 2 or 3 episodes to actually explain her true past and give a substantial story line. Because in the game, the female character and her name/personality is you, the anime version of her is left 'blank' for self insertion. Making a poor main character being pushed to and fro. But I will tell you this the music was REALLY good, the opening, closing and background music were absolutely fantastic. SO, if you have played this game and enjoyed it then I would definitely recommend it. If you have not, and have absolutely no interest in self-insertion romance, then its not worth the watch for the plot. Although I did like it myself. It's a good addition to my, quote-unquote, "trash anime" (watch out for a post in the maybe near future). Basically a list of guilty pleasure anime which are terrible when it comes to plot and characters, but I just can't resist. Its like reading trashy romance novels, but better and worse at the same time.
6/5 Red Data Girl (re-watch)
Tumblr media
Another re-watch, maybe June will be a month of oldies~ (at least for me). RDG is an adorable anime, its a short 12 ep, one season series based off the Japanese novels of the same title. 6 novels (no official translation, but this person on tumblr has been translating them in their spare time), 4 manga novel adaptations, and one anime as mentioned. I'm not familiar with the novels or manga, but I do know that the anime covers most but not all of the novels. One person said it covers the first 5 novels but that's it. Anyway, the anime is super cute, and I really like the premise. My only issue is that the end felt like the completion of a smaller story arch within a larger one. Leaving no REAL ending, you can't even argue that the end is open to interpretation because they didn't leave you wondering what happened, they leave you without ever continuing the main story arch. Without explaining the endless questions that rose with the intention of it being resolved later. Hopefully the manga will give me some solace but with 4 books, i'm not sure if it will... I really like it, and I really wish it would continue.
oh btw, as of right now it's available on netflix, the English voice acting is ok, its not bad, but its also not great. The voice actors are able to but the right voice out, but not give the voice the emotion that the words give. I greatly prefer the Japanese voice acting, but I'm able to live with the English if I'm multi-tasking. (random note: the ending theme is super pretty. Actually, a lot about this anime is pretty)
6/2 Blue Exorcist Movie TOP PICK FOR THIS MONTH (new)
Tumblr media
The movie has nothing to do with the plot of the anime at all, and takes place after the events in the series. Atleast I'm fairly certain it does? There's an important (and spoiler-y) thing that happens at the end of the series, that is never addressed or acknowledged in the movie which I think is really weird..... Either way, the movie itself is simply a completely stand alone story from the series. And it was absolutely stunning! Sooooo much detail went into all of the backgrounds and items. On top of that its very well scripted, and the plot flowed incredibly well together without being convoluted, which is surprising since a number of movie sequels to tv series's tend to go overboard by stuffing too much information into an hour and a half.
It was amazing. Its possible that someone could watch the movie without watching the single season anime, just because of how it was written. However you would not know the relationships or the back story of the main character, which helps to explain a lot of the terminology and setting. Especially the part about demons ect ect.
Either way, I LOVED this movie. I didn't even know that there was a movie at all until just now. I'm going to re-watch it with a friend when she gets back into town and I am soooooo excited because I KNOW she will love it too. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. I RECOMMEND THIS SO HARD.
6/1 Blue Exorcist (re-watch)
Tumblr media
Well I can't sleep, so what better opportunity than this to re-watch Ao no Exorcist in the English dub~ Ah, I love this anime. Its funny, has great main characters, a good story and writing, and I seem to have a week spot for exorcist anime's, haha. Man, I remember watching this when it first came out in high school, I have a distinct memory of watching one of the later episodes before going to one of my friends concerts. There was a movie made about a year later, AAAAAND a series of specials. Oh, man the movie was so amazing. It has nothing to do with the plot of the anime at all, in fact the anime wrapped up everything rather nicely. The Movie itself is simply another story in cinematic format. It was absolutely beautiful, well made, well scripted, and the plot flowed incredibly well together without being convoluted. Would 100% recommend.
Oh, right! The dub isn't that bad, I mean I wish they had a different voice actor for Rin, I just don't feel like this one really lives up to the character. The other voice actors are great though, really fit the characters. The dub is well done, but I think I preferred the Japanese voice actors (they have a better pick than we do.) I just think that someone with a slightly lower, more thug-ish voice would have been better. The English actors voice is a little too high for me, it's even higher than Yukio's voice ._.
6/1 Black Butler (re-watch)
Tumblr media
I decided to re-watch the show (minus the second season) after writing up my post from yesterday about anime whose second season could just go and disappear from existence. I love Sebastian, he is a saint, well a saint among devils. Not only is he one hell of a butler, but one hell of a contractor too, he REALLY get into his jobs, and it is amazing. Even I would enter into a contract if I could have him as a butler~ It's a goon anime, not sure if its recommendation worthy though. I mean yes it's good but it's not something that you HAVE to see, or something you would be missing out on. It's surprisingly fun and while it can and does get intense in certain areas, its not so intense that its going to mess you up.  As long as you never touch the second season, NEVER.
