My favorite part about being an OSDD system and a psychology major is

1. Explaining systems to other psych majors and then telling them I'm a system and they just... Immediate jaw drop in shock and then tense up all scared to ask questions lol

2. Seeing my professors always skim over dissociation, amnesia, and dissociative disorders 🫠

3. Outing myself as a system to my class and professors with pretty much no judgement because everyone just trauma dumps in class!!

4. That one time I had to email my prof with resources and research about dissociative disorders because her presentation was SO OUTDATED and borderline fake claiming. It triggered me so badly 😭 She was very professional with me tho and nice about it and I hope she changed her presentation 👍

anon, death valley was probably one of my least favourite seasons. it just didn’t feel like american horror story to me, but i absolutely agree because if i was to pick out the parts of death valley i liked it would be the modern part. my roommate at university came downstairs to see me watching troy & cal's birth scene & i was laughing so hard at the dramatics & surrealism of it all & it absolutely scarred my roommate for life. so i do like the strange attempt at m-preg because it was funny & hey, i liked the modern characters a lot.

there's a confrontation brewing in the near future of tatbp and I am very excited for it. Here's some of the lead up!

Ted wants to say he’s surprised, but he can see how Shiloh ended up in such a state. Behaviour like that, it was behaviour that had to be ironed out early, and while Ted didn’t doubt that Jamie was well liked here at Clarence Hill, he did doubt his ability to be the kind of role model needed for kids like that. He wasn’t what Ted would call even tempered, prone to fits as though he was a child himself.

🛏 Is there a new trope you'd like to write this year?

i think................ i would like to explore some physical whump stuff. i'm planning on dabbling with some daredevil fics, and if you've watched even two seconds of that show, you'll understand what i mean when i say Whump Is Inevitable. i feel like i typically stick with emotional whump, but physical whump is so............. ough. very much my jam.

INDEED!! i talked about the bare bones of it yesterday, but my new wip the ending where you finally find your way home (wherein a fucker of the universe occurs and 23-year-old jamie is suddenly standing in place of 33-year-old jamie) is something i am INCREDIBLY excited about. here's a small wippet!

“Jamie,” said Roy, because Roy was suddenly at Jamie’s elbow, and he wrenched his head up, determined to snap back, certain that Roy was here to tell him to quit fucking around and read off the goddamn cards. Except— Except this wasn’t a Roy that Jamie recognized. This was a Roy that had grey streaked through his black curls, grown out longer than he’d seen them before; this was a Roy that had deep crow’s feet around his eyes; this was a Roy who looked at Jamie with a softness that made Jamie recoil. And recoil he did, flinching on instinct from the palm that cupped his arm and almost tripping over his feet in the process. Weird, actually-old Roy lifted his hands in surrender. “You’re all right, Jamie,” he said. He sounded the same. “It’s me. It’s Roy.” Jamie opened his mouth. He meant to say something witty, something that would cut through all the bullshit and leave him with a clear way out of this mess, but all that came spilling out of his mouth was, “I shouldn’t be wearing a shirt.” And then he collapsed onto the floor.

5 times jamie (unknowingly) told an alarming story about his past and no one said anything, plus one time they talked about it — or, in which the team learns some alarming jamie-lore and tries to find a balance between letting him know that some of the childhood experiences he thinks are normal were not, in fact, normal, and creating an environment where he feels like he can tell them about his past without worrying that it will turn into a life lesson or that he'll upset someone.

Roy & Jamie & Higgins + waffles = an early morning in Amsterdam

🤔What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?

I have story notes written up for a fic where s2 Jamie finds out from Rebecca about why he was sent back to Manchester in s1- but it's not a bonding moment for them. Not initially, at least.

The idea of it is based around how in the curse fire episode, Keeley told Jamie to stop thinking that everyone was out to get him. But now Jamie, a year later, is learning that Rebecca actually was out to get him- to get the whole team, in fact.

After hearing a (scaled down) version of the truth from Rebecca, Jamie tries to talk to other people about his mixed up feelings about it - only to find that Keeley, Ted, and Higgins already know about it too.

A lot of this fic has to do with trust issues, as Jamie struggles to understand why everyone he knows seems to have accepted what happened so easily - while they, in turn, struggle to understand what it is about having been sent back to Manchester that makes Jamie so upset.

@jamietarttsnorthernattitude had a wonderful synopsis of the situation that I've been rotating so much it's turned into the draft title for the doc:

Our SILLIEST problem that we encounter as a system is... someone asking me what music I like.

At our job, we take turns of who plays music while we work and just they look at me and are like "Hey, put on your fav playlist!" Or "What kind of music do you listen to?"

And we just panic...

How can I choose between pop punk, screamo, goth rock, indie, indie pop, Celtic, Vocaloid, Jpop, 80s classics, soulful R&B, and musicals???

Haha. Hahahahahaha. HAHAHAHAHAHA. (So many) I have two in particular that are Dani focused because I LOVE Dani but I also really want to dissect him and dig through his insides. These two are very much ~vibes~ stage but I very badly want to get them to at least outline stage by the end of the month (I am a slow writer). Dani is not having a fun time in either of these, in one I've torn his ACL and in the other I've given him seasonal affective disorder (Sorry Dani, you don't get to say you like to give away joy for free and not expect CONSEQUENCES)

🛠Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now?

ABSOLUTELY.

One of the WIPs I was working on in the background while finishing up 'i learned to walk while he was away' is a 5+1 style multi-chapter about Sam and Jamie. Working title is '6 conversations they might have had and one they definitely didn't' - it's canon-compliant until the final chapter essentially. My STRUGGLE is that:

1. I cannot write in chronological order AT ALL (meaning I have NO IDEA when this will see the light of day whoops)

2. Because it's canon compliant I need Jamie to be mean to Sam for a bit.

AND, I don't want to be mean to Sam! I don't want Jamie to be mean to Sam! So! I am absolutely dragging my concrete-encased feet through those bits 🫠

(I also already had Jamie be mean to Robbie in the only dang thing I've published and I still feel vaguely guilty about that lol)
