I also like to add some angst into this AU with how Yuu can’t believe in soulmates/can’t feel all ranges of the feelings, of love, or even a little of them, because they are magic-less/from another world

I'm not big on writing unrequited feelings, or one-sided soul mates! But I do like adding doubt. Personally, I think these kinds of AUs can be so of boring when they take the road that just getting to meet the soul mate guarantees the relationship will be successful. Being bound to someone by the deepest, unspoken part of yourself should be terrifying. The work and choice it takes to maintain a relationship shouldn't go away because of the bond, it should be intensified by it. I have mentioned the Wayhaven Chronicles here before (it's an interactive fiction about vampires) but I really like the author's take on soulmates/soul bonds as she has been expanding on them in her series so for my own au I'm going to take some inspiration from that.

Just because Yuu feels the soul bond doesn't mean they know what it is, or want it for that matter. It's inconvenient, they don't want to date someone and form a deep connection that will tempt them to stay and abandon their home. I like your suggestion that because they are magicless they can't feel the full range of emotion the bond causes σ(￣、￣=) I like the idea of them just mistaking it for normal attraction and not something that will leave both them and the other person in deep pain if it's severed. And Yuu might be the sort of person who doesn't believe in soulmates for that matter! They might be resistant to it, angry that they are in love and angry that they can't go home. No matter what happens they're losing something irreplaceable.

The soul bond places more strain on the boys because of their magic, so they are more aware of it's presence and more effected by the desire to be close to Yuu at all times. I could see the magic trying to make up for Yuu's inability to feel the full range of emotion by pulling on him harder, desperate to be realized. My original angsty thoughts sort of teetered towards the yandere spectrum, as I could see a scenario where a truly delusional person thought that because they had this soul bond with Yuu that made whatever life they had in their world irrelevant. Clearly they were supposed to be in Twisted Wonderland all along, there's no reason for them to go back and he has a personal vendetta against whoever cause you to be trapped in a different dimension than him in the first place... but in the reverse since I am cooking something for Rollo atm and have him on the mind, I think he would try to accompany Yuu back to their world. He could see his bond to Yuu as a sign they are a benevolent spirit meant to guide him to a world without magic... I could also see someone coming to resent Yuu since they were happy not having a soulmate. They're vulnerable now, and they somehow can't bring themselves to hate Yuu because the more they try the deeper they fall in love with them so they just end up hating themselves.

There is much potential for angst in soulmate aus without making the feelings reciprocated hehehe

A distressed, frustrated, sob tears out of his throat as he throws the book as far as he possibly can. It hits the stone statue in front of him, the pages folding in on themselves as the book drops to the ground.

"Let me go home!" he shouts, raw and distraught, and so, so desperate. No one is around to hear it. Only a statue, one that seems to be mocking him with it's engraved and empty face.

He looks at where the Fail button once sat, where it was so cruelly taken from him. For a moment, there had been a bleak, dim, little hope. It shone down on him as he noticed it, and he had felt a momentary relief. Only for the button to disappear right under his touch. He's left with nothing but the Succeed button.

"Please..." he mumbles, dejected, as he falls back into the hopeless loop before him. He slams his hand down on the button. A book appears. He opens it.

would you be interested in doing a book club? kind of a raffle where I send out assignments (a book to read per month-- for example... book with first name in title, a green book, a classic that was recently reprinted, etc etc etc. or maybe every month there's a theme. book with specific color on the cover, book with an animal in the title, a book based off a myth etc etc... I was thinking we could do a lil collection, maybe $2 dollars and then we can pick a winner at the end of the year ( i'd put all names in a 'spin the wheel' app and roll it on live so there's no funny business ) and they can pick a book to be bought and sent to them?? if anything draws over, it get's donated to an Animal shelter! everyone wanting to be in has to be over 18 or have parent's/guardian's permission to participate- bc you will have to give out your address so I can send you the book if you win!

i have finally remembered to post some of the essek photos i took with some buddies A WHILE AGO here on good old tumblr. it was a very fun lil photoshoot to do and basically all i bought for this cosplay was the wig, the paint, and those finger lights lmao

the goal was to do "magic" with practical effects via long exposure and finger lights, a process i had experience with back in my youth both through raving and as a model. for my first stab at a light show in actually a decade and kirin's first real effort with long exposure, im not mad but i fully intend to drag him into another attempt down the line (and one day after i find which raver buddy still has their fire poi supplies..... i really wanna give doing a caleb in a similar vein a try 👀)

I still can't express how happy I am that possession Kieran is debunked (source is the unreleased but leaked mythical Pokemon event) because if that was the case, it absolutely ruins his storyline and character development. He's Just Like That. I love all the red herrings the game threw our way though, like to the point people just genuinely thought it was canon! I guess Kieran revived the Loyal Three because he had the Teal Mask at the time.
