The second clowder in my Australian warrior cats story! (designs and names subject to change)

Mountain Clowder cats are strong: dense fur, long, strong legs, and clear minds. They have a reputation for being self-absorbed and bossy, but good-hearted. Their members are usually greys or browns and have low amounts of white, if any.

They have large paws and long legs, which allows them to easily scale the steep sides of their mountain homesite. They live at the top of the mountain the Clowders call home and consider themselves closer to the Cloud Steppers. They sleep outside, in warm piles of cats. Friends and family often sleep in the same pile.

They despise Stone Clowder, they used to be a part of Mountain Clowder, before splitting off, renaming themselves Cloud Clowder, and then fleeing and renaming themselves (again) Stone Clowder.

Their fighting style involves speed. They dart in, land a few blows, and then dart out. They are trained in where to hit an opponent in order to hurt them the most. They maintain a few hunting trails they walk along and try to avoid overhunting one area.

They use hunting trails to trap game. They are the only Clowder to hunt kangaroos and succeed, giving them a grudging respect by other Clowders.

Lieutenant: Willowsong (Willow) – Ticked grey tabby molly (They/She) with a bob tail and blue eyes.

Healer: Badgernose (Badger) – Black and white molly (She/Her) with amber eyes.

          Trainee: Maple – Brown tabby molly (She/They) with black patches and amber eyes.

Councillors:

Brackenshade (Bracken) – Brown tom (He/Him) with a deep brown tail and green eyes.

Roseshine (Rose) – Pale molly (She/Her) with dark stripes.

           Trainee: Shade – White tom (He/Him) with brown slash across his face.

Sandfeather (Feather) – Pale molly (She/Her) with sandy markings and amber eyes.

Beartooth (Bear) – Brown tabby tom (He/Him) with lighter stripes.

Fernfrond (Frond) – White molly (She/Flutter/Leaf) with small black spots.

        Trainee: Blaze – Ginger tom (He/Him) with a white slash across his face.

Hawk – Cream tom (He/Him) with brown tail.

PLOT(ISH)

winchesters were kittypets until house cuaght fire, killed(?) merry, boys became street cats and the kids had john change their names

main angel cast are in one clan, woodchuck and darkshadow are AWOL

naomi is the head of the family, being the mother of woodchuck's oldest (the archangels) and burningfang is the "second in command"

lightfall banished after he and burningfang had a violent spat that ended in goldenhawk "dying" (he faked his death and became a rogue named loki), rootwhisker and burningfang "fighting" for dominance

fallencrow has trouble sticking to the clan's strict rules and devotion to starclan

stag runs away to a city group where he meets jess, stays for a few moons before going bakc out to find john

dune saves stag from a few dogs and is chased into clan territory where he's saved by a patrol and ultimately fallencrow. his arrival was prophesized so hes initally seen as a good sign

stag is stressed out of his mind trying to find his brother, eventually dropping out of bobby's range of communication for a while in a fit of desperation and stress

stag's psychic powers are more so prophetic dreams until they die off by the "season 3 premiere" era, sometimes has some but they're fuzzier now

there's ghosts and sometimes minor deities, other monsters are just cats out of their minds or other predatorial animals

fallencrow's more willing to bend the rules after meeting dune

dune is the OPPOSITE of what the clan expected their righteous man to be and resent him for turning fallencrow soft

burningfang isn't evil more than he is just trying to keep his family from crumbling after his father disappeared and two of his brothers were exiled or "died". hes just very stressed and now more prone to snapping and being aggressive but he's really just doing what he sees as right. hes an antagonist for a while, yes, but he's not a villain

jack comes in at some point i just have to decide when/where argh

stag and dune reunite after dune heals enough and bails, though he hates leaving fallencrow behind

"i will see you again, won't i, dune?" "...we'll see, 'crow." "i look forward to it, then."

stag is estatic to learn clan cats are real, but less estatic when dune recounts his experience with them, calling them "dicks". stag wants fo meet fallencrow and dune feels bad for having to leave him behind now that the clan is mad at dune for "fucking up" fallencrow's moral compass

🐶 adopt a pet with my muse

In the morning, as the mist hung between the treetrunks like a  thick veil, the Tavern was so still the building seemed to sleep in the grey dust as if wrapped in a warm blanket.Mar sat in the kitchen, with sleepsand still in her eyes, her hair still roughly put up in a thick knot and a bowl of from warmth steaming porridge between her and Torvald on the table. The kitchen was empty beside the two warriors having breakfast and the morningsun danced reflecting over the polished pots and pans like on precious gems. It was then when they heard the calling by the backdoor. 

They had spend the last  four  days in the Tavern, stocking up their supplies, mending to their armor, patching up harness, saddles and reins, and every morning they had been greeted by a for breakfast begging cat that was as big as a fox with fur as grey as mist and her almost hilarious tiny kitten that looked with her puffy fur like a fluff beside her massive mother. Of course, with her great respect and utter love for cats,  Mar had given the Mother a piece of ham and when she had been too slow, it had been Torvald who had determinated jumped forward and fed the mother and her kitten so Mar and the warrior could watch the small family eat while they had their breakfast.  That was, until on this day, when the kitten came alone to the door. The calling before the backdoor lacked the stern, loud mewling of the mothercat and instead it was a tiny cheep that was almost swallowed by the clinking of Torvalds and Mars wooden  spoons. A frown draw a long line between the Halforcs thick eyebrows and shortly she exchanged a look with the other warrior, as if they were on the battlefield and silently needed to prepare a attack without any words of warning. Slowly, one hand around her wooden spoon like around a swordhilt, Mar stood up from her stool and made her way to the backdoor. The tavern was a old building so in the evening the Innkeeper had simply set stones before the door to keep late visitors- or worse!- from entering the door, those stones Mar and Torvald rolled to the side with the kittens quiet mewling growing more desperate with every second. 

When they finally opned the door, the kitten was alone, dirt sticking to her thick pelt like a second skin and trembling like a leaf in the wind.She looked hungry, alone and left behind. 

A sting of pity like a sharp blace bored into the Halforcs chest. What had happned with the kittens mother? Was she all alone? Automatically the young woman looked past the tiny fluff that was the smal cat and into the mist, but she could not see the cats mother. There was a crazy thought suddenly in Mars head, like a instinct, and promptly she wanted to lift the kitten up and take her with her. But that would have been foolish, she scolded herself in her mind like a stupid child. Mar was a wandering Sellsword, she lived in a tent, barely longer than three days at once in one place, and only sometimes in a Tavern, and a cat needed a house to hunt mouses, a place by the fire and a steady area to hunt.

But before Mar could convince her completly, Torvald already scooped the tiny kitten up in his arms, holding them save against his chest like an firstborn.

And I'd like somewhere that doesn't have masses of signs everywhere, like the last house we rented did! (a few examples, and there were loads - 'DO NOT USE THIS CUPBOARD, 'DO NOT PLAY THIS PIANO', 'USING THIS CHAIR MAY RESULT IN A BREAKAGE' etc etc) I'm not kidding, there were signs all over the place - the odd one is understandable but not on this level, it was ridiculous and certainly not conducive to a relaxing weekend! When we were leaving, I did a quick look around to check no one had left anything behind and I found a note on the kitchen table which one of my boys had written, it said 'OVER USE OF PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE SIGNS MAY RESULT IN A BAD REVIEW' Whoops, but I have to say I turned a blind eye to it. So I'm on the look out for a friendly place! We finished watching 'The Tourist' the other night. It was soooo good! Blood theories

(Mostly studied by the Full-Moon family and other cats like Morningsun and Nightjay. They’ve made theories about how blood works and how it affects an individual. The image shows a rainbow gradient. It was poorly blurred but RED is also present.)

Basic info:

- Blood color is almost always the same color as the sclera of the eye. In rare cases when the sclera is just too white, the blood takes the color of the iris.

- Cats with heterochromia or dichroic eyes have blood the same color as their mouth.

Full-Moon’s Blood Theory:

- Blood represents strength and it measures how successful the individual will be in life. It only affects those inside the Full-Moon family and other cats are mostly ignored.

- Purple is considered the strongest color and pink the weakest.

- The idea was introduced by ?????

- It’s the oldest theory on this matter.

- This is a classic Full-Moon thing. They also think females have more advantage, this making a female with purple eyes the strongest.

Morningsun’s Blood Theory:

- Morningsun mentions he was studying blood before dying but never got into anything really deep. His main theory is that there’s a type of rarity in how blood colors work.

- Depending on fur color, breed and genetics.

- He says that colors like pure green and blue are more common on white and blue cats or kittypet decedents.

- Purple and pink are a mystery to him.

- This doesn’t affect anything on the individual’s fate and Morningsun isn’t afraid to call Full-Moon cats idiotic for thinking it has any difference to be born with a certain color.

Nightjay’s Blood Theory:

- Nightjay believes in everything Morningsun says but has a different approach to this matter. This is the newest theory on blood and it involves the state of mind of the individual.

- He believes that in reality everyone’s blood is dark red, like the blood that spills out of prey and other animals.

- It really depends on how the cat sees others. He has talked to one of the Starless Woods cats before and has discovered that some cats can only see dark red.

- He then concluded that you need some level of empathy and understanding that other cats are complex and full of personality and story beings.

- Buzzardfeather, as an exemple, can only see Purple blood and the rest is dark red to him.

Webinar – Herbs: The Multifunctional Workhorses of the Garden

Look beyond the edible goodness that herbs provide and you’ll quickly recognize these unassuming plants are hardworking powerhouses in the garden. Herbs make great companion plants, aid in pest control, and support welcome beneficials. Plant mint near cabbage and tomatoes and you will help to deter the white cabbage moth. Anise hyssop and mountain mint will attract pollinators and other beneficials. Still further, fennel and dill provide food to the swallowtail butterfly caterpillar. Transform herbs like garlic and chili peppers into organic pesticides while the herbs in companion plantings create beautiful and structured designs.

Join HSA at 1 p.m. (EST), Tuesday. August 20, 2019, for our webinar, “HERBS: The Multifunctional Workhorses of the Garden” with Rose Loveall-Sale owner of Morningsun Herb Farm. Make your own insecticide using garlic…

Garlic Insecticide Spray

Puree 2 whole garlic bulbs (not cloves) with 1 cup of water. In a quart jar let mixture sit for 24 hours or overnight. Strain. Add ½ cup of vegetable oil. Add 1 tsp of liquid soap (Dr. Bronner’s is recommended) Fill quart jar with water.

To use: combine 1 cup of mixture with 1 quart of water and spray on infested plants.

About the Presenter: Rose Loveall-Sale, along with her husband Dan Sale, owns Morningsun Herb Farm, a specialty nursery in the countryside of Vacaville, Ca.
