The Man and the Crow
Tumblr media
A 5 star read for me | This is a short story by Rebecca Runden and it's about a man and a crow. Wow, right? Well I'm not saying too much because it's only 24 pages and I would spoiler anything but it had witches and warlocks and a sarcastic crow. My 2 big loves are short books and witches.

The Short Story Reader #31 - Fire at Her Fingertips by Rebecca Crunden (Indie!)

Her sin is killing her mother in birth; her punishment, alienation. In this, there is something of the fairy-tale opening–and indeed, the DNA of the fairy…

Book Review - A Game of Wings and Marks
Hello, everyone! It has been too long since I’ve read one of Rebecca Crunden’s books. So, I decided to remedy that this month with A Game of Wings and Marks. 🙂 I’m a huge fan of this author’s Outlands Pentalogy, and I’ve yet to come across any of Crunden’s work I didn’t like. Did that streak continue with this book? Read on to find out! Continue reading Untitled

Someone Else's Horror Story by Rebecca Crunden - review
This was a lovely, spooky novella. I would totally watch a movie based on this or ever a full version. I recommend if you're in a slump and want to reach something spooky this October.

And so the grand total for 2023 is....
267!
Of course, there's a couple of DNFs in there which inflate this number somewhat, but I am absolutely not going to pick through and count them out. Plus, a DNF only gets included on the list if I've gotten through a significant portion of the book. If it's a page one no-no, it's not even worth mentioning.
I made the decision at the start of this year, to try out more books I'd never heard of before. I really like trawling through the library app, or through audible's free archives and finding stuff that I'd probably never normally have discovered. Also, revisiting books that I read a long time ago and seeing if they resemble my memories of them.
Overall, I think this was a very satisfying year of reading, and I hope that I enjoy 2024's reads just as much!
nf= non fiction ss= short story
Stars awarded at my whim.

Book Spotlight | These Violent Nights
Book Spotlight | These Violent Nights
Sometimes I don’t have enough time to give attention to everything I want to. Sometimes that means I might have to pass on a review copy. However in the case of These Violent Nights I wanted to give a spotlight on the blog. It’s been a pleasure working with Rebecca Crunden on other books I reviewed for her. And while I am not able to read this book before release (though I will in the future) I…
