Hey, so kind of a general writing/not been on tumblr much update (because apparently I'm so perpetually online people will ask me if I'm ok after a few days of me not posting as much lmao): I have been having some health issues. I haven’t really mentioned them aside from updating a couple people I talk to daily on why I've been so quiet because a.) I felt too poorly to do anything other than marathon sitcoms I've seen a bazillion times, and b.) I didn't know what was going on.

The tl; dr is that, after getting diagnosed with strep throat a few weeks ago, and feeling mostly normal aside from some minor irritation in my throat, I started feeling horribly weak and overall just fucking terrible, and I was having bad tachycardia. Like a heart rate in the high 130s just standing, and a sitting heart rate of like 110 (my normal resting heart rate is in the low 70s). Three trips to the ER later, a bunch of normal labs and cardiac tests, and my boss (ER nurse for 20 years) pushing for an echo, and I finally got a diagnosis of pericarditis, which is inflammation of the sac around your heart. It's most commonly caused by viruses. The ER doc suspects my strep throat was misdiagnosed and I had a virus that caused the inflammation of my heart, although I think bacterial infections can sometimes cause it as well. I've been put on high dose ibuprofen and some acid reflux meds to protect my stomach while I'm on such a high dose of ibuprofen, and I have to take it easy for at least the next week and then be careful and play it by ear. I have been too weak to even sit up much for the past several days and cannot stand for very long, which is infuriating as someone who does one-armed push-ups for funsies.

Anyway, all this is to say, I'm still alive, the next chapter of Book of Merthur (for any of you following it) was coming along just fine but for obvious reasons is a bit postponed now. I'll probably be off work all next week again and hopefully will feel strong enough to get in a bit of writing. (And for any readers about to say, 'Oh my God, don't worry about that, take care of yourself!!' I am literally gnashing my teeth to go back to writing and am furious that my last week or so has consisted of me being too exhausted even to read. I've been marathoning sitcoms I've seen a bazillion times, I'm not even much of a TV watcher, and I'm going crazy. Yesterday I lifted two books to get to the one I wanted underneath them, and was so exhausted I went straight back to bed. THEY WERE PAPERBACKS. AND NOT WAR AND PEACE PAPERBACKS.)

I got this yesterday morning and I’ve been thinking about it ever since because of course my brain went directly to WinTeam.

I mean, they’re definitely the ship I’ve written most about. 38% of the fics on my current AO3 account are about WinTeam. :’)

Buuuut there were a lot of, like, formative ships that I didn’t write much or anything about. And they’re ships I always go back to whenever I’m between fandoms or just in the mood for something familiar and loved.

Like RayK/Fraser from due South! They were a massive part of my teen years in fandom. If you haven’t seen it, please give it a watch! It’s all remastered and up for free on YouTube! They still mean the world to me, and some of my favorite fics of all time are about them.

And then there’s merthur, whose meteoric and enduring impact on fandom should be studied by science. I read Awake by Cori Lannam and cry at least once a year.

There’s klance, who are loud and annoy each other and were never going to be canon and VLD was always going to be a catastrophe (who doesn’t keep a story bible to keep track of their own show), but the components for an incredible dynamic were there and fans did what fans do best and made gorgeous, heart wrenching fanworks that surpassed anything in canon for me.

I also love Stony, but I want to clarify that, like, most of my love doesn’t come from the extremely bro-y Marvel movies. I was intrigued by Chris Evans and RDJ’s portrayal of Steve and Tony back when I first saw Avengers, so I came home, opened Tumblr, and looked for the movie fandom that surely already existed. What I found more of, unsurprisingly, was comic fandom, and the more I found out about Steve and Tony in the comics, the more I was underwhelmed by the movies. So basically, the main reason I’m not into Stucky is because Stony fans presented this canon head explosion from the comics first:

There’s also drarry and wolfstar, and I love them the same way I love klance: the source material is disappointing, but the components for greatness were there, and fandom elevated them.

Okay so! Those were all fanon ships, and I always knew none of them were ever going to become canon (though Merlin’s, uh, debatable, maybe discussable—“the man he loves is dying so he’s holding him” REALLY), so I kind of think of them in a separate but equal category to the canon ships.

WHICH ARE:

Viktuuri is one of those ships that just feels like shelter for me. Just, Yuri on Ice was made with such devotion. Not just love, but passion. There’s no antagonist, just Yuuri’s own anxiety and Viktor painstakingly learning to understand and speak a mutual language so he can coax art and beauty and sincerity from Yuuri’s exhausted and heartbroken soul. I’ll always love them extra special.

These two trainwrecks.

KongArt! The whole arc of Kongphob and Arthit’s relationship in SOTUS is just so satisfying and beautiful to me, I just rewatched it with friends in January and I’m already rewatching it again with a different friend now. :’)

WENZHOU. I’m also rewatching Word of Honor and just having a marvelous time re-experiencing just how unhinged they are for each other. “YOUR SON WAS KIDNAPPED WHILE YOU WERE ROLLING AROUND IN THE DAISIES” “ah” “thanks for killing the moment”

And honestly there are more ships I love, but that wasn’t your question!

I haven’t used tumblr consistently in a while but here I am now. All because I have been rewatching Merlin 😅haven’t really rewatched the last 3 episodes. I have been skimming through the final episode but I stopped. But yes I’m all in my feels once again. In fact more than I was the first time I watched it I feel like. And I don’t know why but even though I watched this show for the first time in 2020 not too long ago I feel like I forgot so much!! Like some of these episodes seemed brand new to me lmfao 😂. Also I have become even more obsessed with Arthur and Gwen this time around (sorry Merthur shippers 😂) and have been liking all the posts I can find about them since they’re so under appreciated. 5 works in 2022

Well, I only posted like 4 works total in 2022 so I’ll rank them lol.

1. You Have To Chase It: My Merlin Twitter fic that I did for glompfest 2022. Or, Immortal!Merlin goes on Twitter to complain about his dead king. Unrelatedly, Arthur joins Twitter. This was a labor of love done in the midst of finals and I genuinely think it’s the fic im most proud of out of everything I’ve ever written. It makes me very very happy lol.

2. Chapters 7-9 of You, Servant!: okay this is kinda cheating because it’s technically still a wip, but I had a horrible period of writers block between chapter 6 and 7 and I’m just so proud of myself for getting back into it and churning out some of, imo, the best chapters of the story.

3. Questions: or my ace!Arthur and grey ace!merlin fic set around The Changeling. Listen, I am NOT a short form writer by any means. My brain doesn’t work like that usually. So, to my surprise, I was so so happy with how this one came out. It was a valentines mini exchange fic and my giftee liked it, so that also made me very happy.

4. The Little Things: I made a post earlier in the year that got a lot of traction and wrote a little drabble based on it that was sitting in my wip folder for so long and I had some future plans for it, but just couldn’t find the time to write more, so I posted it. I think it came out great and I’m still hoping to either return to it one day or hoping that maybe someone else will do something with it Lolol.

4 WIPs I’m excited to post in 2022

1. My RTGE fic that I still haven’t posted but have about 3 chapters for. It was supposed to be a simple prompt, but kinda turned into a s1 rewrite. Oops. I really really love where it’s going so far though.

2. The rest of You, Servant! This will be my first ongoing WIP that I finish and I swear I will finish it if it kills me. I’ve had the ending planned for almost two years now, it’s just about getting it written.

3. A series of snippets set in the You Have to Chase it universe. Aaaaaand a possible sequel. I have Plans hahaha.

4. Futuristic Merthur Soulmate AU: I have a vague idea of where I want this to go and a few plans for how I want to write it, but I probably won’t get to it until later in the year. It will probably be my next big project though.

3 things I’ve improved on

Ughhh i think one of the biggest issues in my writing is syntax. Sometimes the words just sound right to me but don’t sound right to anyone else. But I think I’ve gotten a lot better at being more concise and getting rid of clunky descriptions/dialogue. I also think I’ve gotten better at writing romance, which was very hard for me for a long time. I think I was just worried that anything I wrote would be too cheesy, but then I realized that romance is cheesy. That’s kind of the point. Last thing is I’ve gotten better at not using em dashes every four lines. Like I still use them a lot, but not as much.

2 resolutions

1. I want to get to a point where I don’t have to reread what I’ve written four hundred times before I settle on something I like. Just two hundred times is enough.

2. I want to be able to incorporate more motion in my dialogue scenes. I’ve always admired people who could make a scene feel grounded and alive while their characters are speaking. I want everything to move and breath and vibrate like it does in real life.

The List of Merlin/Merthur Fic Prompts and Ideas That I’ll Probably Never Get Around to Writing Myself

This post is an absolute mess, lmao. Some of them are prompts, some of them are summaries, and some of them are just little story notions. If you want to write/draw/edit one of these, then go for it! All I ask is that you tag me or shoot me a quick message if you post it. 

1) Prince!Merlin

In order to stop the feud between their two kingdoms, Prince Arthur of Camelot is betrothed to Prince Merlin of Escetir. When they meet, they are undeniably drawn to each other, but any hopes of affection are crushed when they open their mouths. Prince Merlin and Prince Arthur butt heads even more than King Balinor and King Uther, but the one thing they can agree on is that the feud has gone on for far enough, and if dealing with each other is the price to pay for peace, then so be it.

The biggest strain in their nonexistent relationship comes from magic. Merlin, or Emrys, has always believed in the prophecies, but his marriage to Arthur throws a wrench in things. Either a) Arthur, the biggest prat in all of Albion, is the Once and Future King, or b) Merlin will have to help his true King from the sidelines, possibly breaking the truce in the process, and all the while being trapped in a loveless marriage. Neither are particularly appealing to him.

Of course, Arthur discovers that magic isn’t inherently evil. And of course, Merlin discovers that Arthur is the Once and Future King. And of course, the two fall madly in love.

2) 4x06 Divergence

After he destroys the Fomorrah, Merlin returns to Camelot to find an anxious Gwen, a furious Gwaine, and most concerning of all, an Arthur who is trapped in a pit of despair and refuses to speak to anyone about it, especially Merlin. Now, Merlin has to figure out what the hell happened when he was under the Fomorrah’s control.

Spoiler alert: when Arthur found Merlin in the bog, instead of hugging him, he kissed him. Merlin pushed Arthur away, saying that he doesn’t think of him that way. Of course, this is all happening in front of Gwaine, who’s been dealing with both Merlin and Arthur’s pining, and who finally convinced Arthur to go for it, only for Merlin to shut him down.

3) another Prince/Nobleman!Merlin

Arthur meets Lord/Prince Merlin, and he’s immediately besotted. Merlin plays hard to get and is just in general a sarcastic, sassy prince.

I picture their dynamic in this to be like Hercules and Meg, with Merlin just roasting the shit out of Arthur while Arthur sits there like 😍

Arthur’s constantly like “Isn’t he just amazing?” and Sir Leon the Long Suffering is just sitting there like “...are you fucking kidding me”

4) The Toast

Arthur gets crowned King. At the feast, he gives a toast - to his knights, to Guinevere - but most shockingly, the final toast is to Merlin.

5) Modern!AU

When Merlin Emrys and Arthur Pendragon meet, it’s love at first sight. Unfortunately, neither of them know how to handle their feelings like regular adults, so instead, they resort to witty banter, pigtail pulling, and worst of all, pining.

Featuring a group of friends who just want to be put out of their misery.

6) The Lowkey Magic Reveal

“You have magic,” Arthur stated.

“Yes.”

Arthur paused for a long moment, glancing between Merlin and the armor that was now strewn across the floor.

“...And you use it to do your chores?”

“Occasionally, among other things. Saving your life, for example.”

Arthur’s face was completely blank. The pair stood in silence for what felt like an eternity, and Merlin felt his panic rising, before Arthur finally responded.

“Alright. Well, carry on, then, I suppose.”

He waved his hand and shut the door, and Merlin heard his footsteps walking out of Gaius’ chambers, leaving Merlin alone to wonder what the hell had just happened.

Or: Arthur finds out about Merlin’s magic. It goes better than expected. Too much better than expected, if you ask Merlin.

7) High School Theatre AU

Arthur Pendragon, jock extraordinaire, is cornered by the drama teacher, Mr. Kilgharrah, in the halls and is begged to audition for the school play/musical. He’s always been one to help wherever he could, so even though he’s never acted/sung in his life, he agrees.

Merlin Emrys is seen as the theatre gay boy stereotype - outgoing, bold, and confident. Most of the student body adores him, along with the teachers and generally everyone he meets. He hates Arthur Pendragon on principle, considering that he’s simply waltzing into theatre and getting a lead role his first time simply because he’s a man.

You know the drill. Enemies to lovers, slow burn. Bonus points if the roles that Merlin and Arthur are cast in have gay subtext. Even more bonus points if the roles are openly gay.

8) Immortal!Merlin Accidentally Becomes Famous

In which Merlin gets bored of hating his immortality and decides to express his bottled-up emotions from Camelot and from over the years of waiting through song, but his music blows up, and he becomes a musical sensation. And in which Arthur is tumblr famous for his fan blog of the world-famous music artist Emrys, and keeps wondering why the hell Emrys’ work feels so familiar.

9) Hero!Merlin/Villain!Arthur

Arthur’s working for his father, the CEO of Pendragon Sciences, when day, Uther pulls him into his office and reveals how he’s begun developing biology altering drugs to make superpowers, something to directly counter magic. He uses magical human test subjects and tortures them to the brink of death. Furthermore, he plans to give someone close to him the first test of these drugs and essentially become his personal hitman. Arthur is absolutely horrified, and he realizes that he has to do something about this. He knows just how powerful his father has become - now that he understands the scope of his work, he realizes that no one will be able to stop him. No one... except for maybe, just maybe, someone on the inside of his corporation, and someone who he trusts unconditionally... like Arthur.

So, Arthur convinces Uther to use him as the test subject, and everything goes perfectly. Arthur gains powers, and he plays the part of the perfect, magic-hating villain, all while trying to undermine Uther’s operations. The media gets wind of this new villain, and so naturally, there needs to be a hero to combat it. Enter Merlin Ambrose, AKA Emrys, the most powerful magic user to ever walk the earth.

Merlin has been working with Morgana, Arthur’s magical half-sister who ran away once she discovered her magic combined with all of Uther’s shit, and they suspect that Uther is behind the creation of this villain. Merlin applies for a job at Pendragon Sciences as Arthur Pendragon’s personal assistant. You’ve probably got a pretty good idea of how it goes from there.

Merlin heaves up the final crateful of his stuff. He looks over the tiny, ramshackle room fondly, a smile gracing his lips. It’s strange seeing it completely bare again, just like the day he first arrived in Camelot. Things were so different back then. Merlin never would have expected to be where he is today in his wildest dreams, yet here he is moving into the King’s bedchambers not as a servant, but as a companion. Despite his happiness about officially moving in with Arthur, leaving his old room is bittersweet. So many memories were made in this little room, from trying to turn a stone dog into a real one to clumsily trying to hide his spell book when Arthur came rampaging in unannounced. With one last glance and a deep breath, Merlin closes the door for the last time.

Merlin runs into Gwen on his way to Arthur’s (or, he supposes, his and Arthur’s) chambers. She’s long been promoted as a key advisor to the King, a position well deserved. Her affections have been stolen by Lancelot once again, and the two have been courting for quite some time. It’s obvious to everyone how besotted they are for each other.

“Finished moving in yet?” Gwen asks.

“Last crate,” Merlin responds. “Shouldn’t you still be in the council meeting?”

“Shouldn’t you?”

Technically, Merlin is supposed to be at the meeting. As Court Sorcerer, attending all meetings and royal functions is in his job descriptions. However, he skives off enough so that when a meeting is particularly boring, Arthur doesn’t even nag him into going realizing it’s a futile effort. Not to mention, today’s meeting was supposed to be especially dull. Arthur constantly reprimands him about his complaints, saying that “All meetings are equally important to the King.” Of course, they both know that’s not true, especially when Arthur continuously sends looks at Merlin throughout the meeting.

“Well, you know me,” Merlin shrugs. “But I actually have permission from the Royal Prat today. I’ve been so busy recently with these new magic laws that I’ve hardly had time for a break, let alone to move all my things into Arthur’s chambers.”

“Are you nervous?”

A few months ago, Merlin may have said yes. Despite him and Arthur being as close as they were for so long, a romantic relationship brought with it a lot more awkwardness and learning than either of them expected. It took some trial and error before they got back into a rhythm again and felt completely comfortable around each other. Now, though, Merlin can safely say that he’s not nervous about moving in with Arthur officially. It just feels…right.

“No, I’m not,” Merlin replies. “Although, I’m not looking forward to Arthur’s inevitable complaints about my stuff sharing his space.”

Gwen stifles a laugh. “He’ll get used to it, but he’ll never stop complaining.”

“Exactly. But you still haven’t answered my question. Did you leave because the council meeting is over?”

“Just about. I made an excuse of having a headache, which was about to be true if I stayed in there for any longer.”

“I bet Lancelot tried to carry you down to Gaius himself,” Merlin teases.

“I had to swear to him that I would go straight there multiple times before he let me out of his sight.”

They laugh together. Merlin adjusts his grip on the crate as it begins to slip out of his arms.

“Oh! I’m sorry. I totally forgot that you were still carrying that.”

“I’m strong Gwen, remember?” Merlin jokes. “Don’t worry about it. I always like talking to you. We need to catch up soon.”

“I’ll hold you to that.”

They part ways. Merlin finishes his trek, a trek that he’s taken so many times before. Still, this time feels different. This time, he’s entering his room as well. He doesn’t have to worry about knocking or barging in unexpectedly (not that he ever worried about that before). Merlin kicks open the door with his foot, nodding at the guard that’s stationed outside.

He drops the crate with a thud next to the bed and looks around. Arthur’s chambers don’t look much different even with Merlin moved in. Merlin never had much stuff to begin with. In fact, most of his things came from Arthur eventually. A new wardrobe, nicer blankets and pillows, and even a magic book he came across while traveling. Still, his stuff is nothing compared to the grandeur of Arthur’s possessions. Of course, it doesn’t bother Merlin. He has everything he needs as long as they’re together.

Merlin finishes unpacking the crate, storing some books away and folding some cloaks. Then, suddenly, that’s it; he’s all moved in. He lives with Arthur. He gets to go to sleep and wake up every morning at Arthur’s side. They can eat breakfast together without Merlin having to walk across the castle and meet him every morning.

The door opens behind him. He turns and sees Arthur dressed regally, cape flowing behind him. He looks brave and fearless and powerful, as any King should. When he looks at Merlin, though, his expression melts into one of softness and adoration.

“Is that the last of it?” Arthur asks.

“Yup. I’m officially moved in! You’re stuck with me,” Merlin says, poking his side.

“Hmm,” Arthur contemplates. “Are you sure it’s too late?”

“Too late.”

“Well, then, I guess I’ll just have to make the most of it.”

With that, Arthur swoops in and kisses Merlin. A gloved hand cups Merlin’s face, while Arthur’s other hand sneaks down to the dip in his spine, tracing over it. Merlin’s hands fly up to Arthur’s hair, knotting his fingers in the tresses. Arthur’s mouth tastes like the watered down wine the castle staff serves during most meetings. Soon, Arthur starts backing Merlin toward the bed, and Merlin giggles when the back of his knees hit the frame. Arthur starts trailing kisses down his neck, just about to push Merlin down onto the bed when he suddenly stops, staring at something behind Merlin.

“Arthur? What’s wrong?”

“What is that thing?” Arthur asks incredulously, pointing toward their bed.  Merlin cranes his neck behind him to see what Arthur is pointing at.

It’s Merlin’s stuffed bear. Beary, to be precise. Merlin has had him since he was a baby. According to his mum, the stuffed bear was always Merlin’s favorite toy. He remembers toting it around with him everywhere, especially before he met Will. It was a comfort object, something to keep him company when he felt most lonely. It helped him through a lot of dark times. Many nights, he remembers crying himself to sleep after being constantly rejected by the rest of the village. He would hold the bear tight to his chest all night long, refusing to let go. Now, it’s more of a comfort just to have it near. He brought it to Camelot with hardly any hesitation, as it was something familiar in a completely new place. He’s never thought to get rid of it, despite it being completely worn down and falling apart He’s had to resew Beary numerous times, yet the stuffing inside of him always seems to come out, and the button eyes always seem to be missing.

“That’s Beary, my childhood toy,” Merlin says simply.

“And why pray tell is it on our bed?”

“He is on our bed because he that’s where he belongs.”

Arthur stares at him. “You’re kidding, right? Why do you even have that thing, anyway?”

“He was my favorite toy when I was a child, Arthur,” Merlin explains, picking Beary up gently. “He always brought me comfort when I most needed it. I don’t know if you knew this, but I didn’t really have friends growing up besides Will. I was pretty much ostracized from the rest of the village. I guess you could say he was a friend of sorts.”

“And you brought him to Camelot.”

Merlin shrugs. “He still brings me comfort, when I look of him, and he reminds me of Ealdor and my mum. Plenty of people still have their childhood toys.”

“Girls, maybe.”

“Hey! Toys are for everyone. Didn’t you have a favorite toy when you were little?”

Merlin sits down on the bed and puts his bear back in the center against the pillows. Arthur sits down next to Merlin, so close that their shoulders and thighs touch.

“I did have a toy sword,” Arthur muses. “Father wanted me to start training to be a knight as early as possible.”

Merlin’s eyebrow furrows. “You didn’t have any stuffed animals? Or blocks? Or puppets?”

“I had books on Camelot and royal etiquette.”

Suddenly, Merlin feels a bit guilty. Although he knows Arthur’s life has been anything but easy, oftentimes he forgets some of the struggles he’s had to deal with. Merlin’s childhood was nothing to boast about, but he was relatively happy. He had his mother by his side, a loving and caring figure. He had his needs taken care of, as well as they could be for a peasant. He eventually came to have Will, his best friend. Back then, Merlin knew nothing about his destiny. Arthur, on the other hand, has known about his destiny to become King since the day he was born. And Uther was anything but a sweet, loving father. Arthur has told him stories before about leading raids as a teenager, killing while he himself was still a boy. Yet somehow, Merlin never considered that he didn’t ever have a childhood even though it makes sense.

“Well, since you’re sharing your chambers with me, I can share Beary,” Merlin offers with a grin.

“I’ll pass,” Arthur says dryly.

“Come on! He’ll be your beary best friend!”

“You’re ridiculous,” Arthur laughs.

“I’m sorry, Arthur, but Beary and I are a package deal. You can’t have one without the other.”

Arthur suddenly tackles Merlin against the bed, playfighting with him as they laugh. It doesn’t take long for them to eventually tire, though, leaving Arthur to collapse beside Merlin as they lean up against the pillows.

“I think the bear is more appealing at this point,” Arthur jokes.

Merlin mock frowns, reaching over Arthur to pick Beary back up. He nuzzles the bear’s face against Arthur’s neck, pouting at Arthur’s previous expression.

“Well I think you’re unbearable,” Merlin huffs, unable to keep a straight face for long. Arthur snorts, grinning with him.

Beary is then taken carefully from his hands and brought under Arthur’s scrutinizing gaze. “Why in the world would you name him Beary? That’s the worst possible name I could think of!”

“I can think of one worse name.”

“You’re just so funny, Merlin.”

Arthur then takes the bear in his hands and places it face down on his nightstand. He pulls Merlin’s body flush against his own. Thankfully, Arthur has forgone his armor for the afternoon, making it much more comfortable.

“Why did you do that?” Merlin asks, referring to his bear.

“Because I don’t want him to see this next part,” Arthur grins, causing Merlin to blush. He joins lips with Merlin again breathily, but Merlin pulls back before they can do much else.

“Does that mean Beary can stay?” Merlin asks smugly.

Arthur rolls his eyes, but it’s followed with a smile.

this one was actually a request from someone, long enough ago that i am deeply ashamed that i haven’t finished it yet alkdfjgh. (also i’m gonna have to go DIGGING back through my tumblr messages to try and remember from whom the request came so that i can notify them when i do, eventually, get it finished and posted.)

also, yes, i am aware that this whole swiping thing is just tinder and not grindr?? apparently that’s not how grindr works, i had my sister text her gay best friend to verify, so the prompt/trope is heteronormative but too entertaining to pass up so we’re just gonna pretend that this is how grindr works XD

“Er,” Merlin said eloquently. “What would you like?”

“What I would like,” the man said in a drawl, “is for my barista to not be out on the pull while he’s supposed to be working. Especially if said barista clearly has terrible taste in men.”

Merlin flushed and glanced back down at his mobile. He really hadn’t been looking closely and if he hadn’t been interrupted, he would probably already have forgotten, but with a comment like that, he was fairly certain that he had just swiped left on his next customer. And the customer clearly had seen that over his shoulder. Because he was stupid enough to be on a hookup app at work.

He pasted his best customer service smile on his face. “What can I get for you, sir?”

“A venti,” the man said. “Black.”

Merlin hastened to enter the order with one hand, already reaching for cups beneath the counter with the other. They only had one brew on tap at the moment, all the other urns put away until rush hour. Normally, he would ask the customer if they wanted something else brewed specially, but he wasn’t keen on lingering with this one, so he just started pouring. “Anything else?”

“An explanation.”

Merlin froze. “Pardon?”

The man leaned forward, elbows on the counter and eyes narrowed. “An explanation,” he repeated, a hint of a smirk on his pink lips. “For why you swiped left on me. Clearly I was lacking in some way, and I’m always looking to improve.”

Sleepwalking - A tiny little bit of Merthur

Part 3

Summary: Merlin talks to Arthur about his sleepwalking problem.

Thanks y'all for your kind words on the first two parts and I hope you like the ending. This is my first story for this fandom and also the first that I ever posted online. Usually I just keep them to myself. Anyway. Let's get into the story.

Merlin had never been one to be shy, especially not with Arthur, but today was different. It was likely, that Arthur wouldn't tolerate the situation, maybe he would even send him away. A part of Merlin still hoped Arthur would understand, but how likely was that. Maybe their friendship wasn't strong enough to survive this. Slowly, Merlin entered the room. As expected, Arthur was awake already, standing at the window with his backside towards Merlin. "You are late.", he simply stated without turning around. "I am sorry, Arthur. There was something important I had to discuss with Gaius. You can ask him if you want. I have your breakfast." "Leave it on the table. And then you may go." Arthur's voice was colder than usual. He still hadn't even looked at his servant and that was the thing that pained Merlin the most. "You don't want me to help you get dressed?", Merlin answered. "Get out, Merlin. Please. I need to think.". Arthur's voice was softer now. Normally, Merlin would have made a joke or something like that, but today was not the right day for that. Instead, he simply refused to leave. "No Arthur, I have to talk to you. It's important. I will not leave.. . It's.. It's about last night. And about me." Finally, Arthur turned around and looked at him. Merlin had come closer while speaking, so they were now approximately arm length apart. "Go on then." -

"Gaius says I am sleepwalking. And I am always sleepwalking towards you Arthur."

Arthur looked confused. "Why does this concern me. Do something about it then."

"Thats the problem. Gaius says there is an unresolved issue between us that we need to talk about. Something I know for a long time now but haven't told you because it just was never the right place or the right time. But you need to know and telling you seems to be the only way to stop this whole sleepwalking thing." Arthur's expression shifted from angry to confused with each word Merlin was speaking. "But Merlin, if you are not happy here why didn't you say something? How long have you been unhappy? Do you miss your mom? Or am I treating you unfair? How could you..."- "Arthur!", Merlin interrupted his friend. "It's nothing like that. You need to listen to me. I am happy. Will you let me tell you what I want to say, please?" Arthur simply nodded. His gaze was wandering over his servants face, searching for any sign that would help him understand. But Merlin was good at hiding his emotions a lot of the time. After all, Merlin was not really the worst servant. And then Merlin told him: "I swear to you, that I am happy. I already told you, I am happy to be your servant until the day I die, if you want me. But after what I am about to confess, I am not so sure anymore. I am sleepwalking to you because I love you, Arthur Pendragon. I love you and have loved you for quite some time now. And I couldn't tell you because you don't love me and you have Gwen and all I ever wanted was for you two to be happy. You might not share chambers at the moment, but Gwen is your wife and as much as it pains me, you and I just cannot be." Tears were running down Merlins cheeks now, his breath heavy, trying to prevent himself from sobbing like a child.  "How dare you, Merlin.", Arthur answered, walking one step closer to his friend. "How dare you tell me who I love." Another step. Merlin was like frozen. His eyes locked with those of his king. "Gwen is the best queen any of us could have ever asked for. I have never loved a woman as much as I love Gwen, it's true." Merlins heart shattered into pieces. But Arthur was not done yet. "But I don't love Gwen as a husband should love his wife. I don't think about sleeping with her, or even kissing her. And the amazing person that Gwen is, it was her who pointed out that my heart lies with someone else. That it is you, whom I want and love. You are the person I want at my side." Arthur's hands cupped Merlins face, wiping away the tears from it with his thumb. "You are the one I want to see when I wake up and that I wish would sleep next to me at night."  Arthur leaned in: "It is you, Merlin. And it has been for quite some time now."

This is an appreciation post for some of my favourite fics (Larry and non Larry - can you tell I'm in way too many fandoms)

Nobody Loves Me Like You, by cuteandtwisted (Evak, Skam OG): aka the first fic I've ever read. I came across it randomly and that was both the best and the worst decision I could have ever made haha. If you're a Skam enthusiast, you probably already know it because it's a staple in the fandom. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I dare you to go watch Skam Norway asap.

The Student Prince, by FayJay (Merthur, BBC Merlin): I'm like really really into BBC Merlin and this fic captures the essence of it perfectly, while being in a modern setting at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. It's super funny and entertaining, I just love it.

All The Young Dudes, by MsKingBean89 (Wolfstar, HP/Marauders' era): I'm not even that much into Wolfstar, but that monster of a fic completely destroyed me. I have fond memories of reading it at the library instead of writing my final papers two years ago. Good times.

Love Is A Rebellious Bird, by 100percentsassy and gloria_andrews (Larry, 1D fandom): this one probably needs no introduction. It's the first Larry fic I ever read and I didn't even know that much about them yet. I think at some point I was like "oh maybe I should check out what this Larry thing is about" and found myself on YT watching proof videos, and now here we are smh.

Young & Beautiful, by Velvetoscar (Larry, 1D fandom): the one and only. I seriously think about it every single day. If you haven't read it yet, what are you doing with your life??

loving you's a bloodsport, by tolvsmol (Larry, 1D fandom): the whole aethetics of it is on point. I just wish I could live in this universe. Also the way Harry's character is written is sooooo good, gotta love this bratty prince.

Nothing But You On My Mind, by nonsensedarling (Larry, 1D fandom): the most recent one I've read, it was incredible. You're not ready for the drama and the Louis/Harry dynamics in this thing.

favorite story you wrote: fuck omg this is difficult lol! because I both criticize and love all my stories in equal measure, I honestly don’t write anything that i don’t love, that doesn’t give me butterflies / actual chest pain (from angst). I feel like I’m being asked to choose a favorite child lol. so I’ll try to justify these picks somehow... 

closest to my heart: soldier, go bravely on (also mentioned above). this is the fic that brought me back to writing fic, and to tumblr even! I was on hiatus (that I didn’t know was a hiatus because I had no intention of coming back) for six years before writing this fic. I wrote it so quickly after the got finale, it was such a passionate and fevered few days and it just sucked me back in to everything I used to love as a teenager. It was also a nice stretch out of my comfort zone, because of the dialogue (which was so tightly planned it’s ridiculous, I wrote the whole fic as a screenplay type thing first to make sure there wasn’t a single dialogue word not needed) and tv-episode style. It’s also such a wish-fulfillment fic that I can’t read certain parts without getting a bit teary. for all those reasons and more, this fic will always be so special to me. 

most proud of: wolf, circle north (jonsa, got, alternate season 7 & 8). this is the longest fic I’ve ever attempted and the number I’ve hours I’ve sunk into it is astounding and i should be ashamed.  It’s going to be obscenely long (my outline is 70+ chapters) and when I pull it off, best believe it’s going into a bound book so I can look at how thicc it is and be like, “I did that!” lol. The range of POVs is one of the most challenging but most rewarding part of this fic, and why I’m so proud of it. This is another wish-fulfillment fic for me, not just because it’s another fix-it fic but because I have been writing bits and pieces of this fic for about three years. I kept thinking of jonsa scenarios and little scenes I would have loved to see after season 6 and writing them in a little secret doc, just for me, as I never thought I’d write fic again. After writing “soldier” i had already broken my hiatus and I realized this fic was an actual possibility, so I put it out into the world. I couldn’t be more happy that I did that. Not only did it give me the chance to be in such an excellent, lovely fandom, but the feedback I get is so validating after having this be my secret little project for so long.  

most formative: Coffee & Cigarettes, (merthur, merlin bbc) I’m ashamed to list this and the merthurs reading this 100% want to kill me for having the audacity because it’s incomplete and hasn’t been updated since 2013 when there’s only one chapter left so what’s my excuse?  I call this the most formative for me because until I published this I didn’t really have a fic that people followed and liked, eagerly awaited updates for, and commented regularly on. I was writing a lot of one-shots and atla stuff on tumblr (I used to RP lmao I was like 15 ok?) This was the first time I experienced so many fic-life things, like being excited to get AO3 emails, etc. This was the first time I started to really focus on character which is so important to me now, my writing is completely character driven. Not to mention Merlin and Arthur’s dumbassery and sheer attraction and denial is just... *chef’s kiss* 

guiltiest pleasure: my recent foray into nedsei, who am I??? one more word and you won’t survive, just international hate sex

story you were most nervous to post: ummm idk I’m usually excited not nervous, since for me fic writing is just fun, I write things I’d enjoy reading and that I’m proud of. I read my own fics more than anyone else does, I guarantee it. am I a narcissist? who knows I guess I’ll say “soldier” again because I hadn’t posted fic in six years.

how you choose your titles: wow the hardest part of fic writing for me!!!!! thanks!!!!! lol. Okay so for my work titles, which are always terrible and I literally regret them immediately after posting, it’s usually just some words I play around with and string together that are somewhat thematic and related to the work... they’re always terrible lmao, I hate making titles. I mean, look at “soldier, go bravely on” and “wolf, circle north” for god’s sake, I hate them lmao. But I have to pick a title to post, so!!! For chapter titles and one-shots I’ll usually go with a song lyric, and especially for my chapter titles I spend so long seeking out the perfect one that reflects some thematic or emotional content of the chapter somehow. I’m very proud of my chapter titles for wolf, circle north. I have a doc on my scrivener just for chapter titles that I created in the very early stages of writing it, where I just dumped HUNDREDS of song lyrics that I thought I might use. Then by them I wrote some scenarios where they could work. here’s a screenshot:

It’s so helpful now. Sometimes posting an update will take an hour more than necessary because of me going through that doc, finding the perfect lyric. 

do you outline: OH, DO I OUTLINE... Hell Yeah, I outline. I couldn’t live without outlining. I love outlining. My outlines have outlines. I’m a planner centric, calendar centric, bullet-journal bitch so of course I love outlining. In all seriousness though: I write out of chronological order. I feel my writing is best when I write the scene I’m in the mood to write- unfortunately this scene could be ten chapters down the line from the chapter I’m gonna post next. This is the biggest reason outlining is necessary for me. If I didn’t have an outline, my story would be a non-post-able mess. 

I wasn’t kidding when I said my outlines have outlines. For wolf, circle north I have, um, a few. Character/location centric outlines where I bullet every scene that needs to happen for that plot to happen cohesively (these were all more or less completed before I even started writing the fic), then a “loose” outline that I copy everything from the other outlines into for some semblance of chronological order, then a Polished Final Outline that I write from. I know that sounds psychotic. It’s how my brain works. Some photo evidence/explanation:

And here’s a screengrab of my Final Outline, this is pretty much how it is all the way down- The POV character is italicized in the front, I talk to myself a lot in there, let myself get carried away, will sometimes write out whole segments of the scene if they come to me while outlining. Spoilers for chapters 1-3 of w,cn I guess!!!

Then, because scrivener is awesome, I get to see this outline in the corkboard view (I input every scene as a card) and so I get to see every part of my outline as a Synopsis on the right hand side of the doc where I’m writing the scene:

coming soon / not yet started: I have so many fics in the works, I’m an indulgent person so if an idea comes to me I usually go with it for a time. I’ve had a very not-serious Jonsa PLL AU I’ve been writing on and off since summer. I have three different fairytale AUs (also jonsas) I’ve been working on and one time travel AU for @sunbeamsandmoonrays. I can’t say when or if any of these will see the light of day, because my priority is my WIPs and my original writing. But the most prevalent are my Halloween fics (one jonsa, one gendrya, one merthur) which I really want to be able to put out this month, but only if I meet some other goals. I’m trying to rein in my indulgent ass, ya’ll.

This is kind of...my current main wip is actually combining 4 finished oneshots/drabbles into one piece and adding transitions and filler scenes to make it flow as best I can and make it a more coherent multi-chapter piece (who am I kidding though, I’ll end up probably doubling the overall word count in new added scenes), here’s the first paragraph of that:

The sound of cricket song fills Wei Wuxian’s ears, the clear, starry sky is filling his vision, and Lan Zhan’s hair is like silk against his fingers. It’s probably the most peaceful and content he’s ever felt. A moment he wishes could go on and on, endlessly.

But, since that was already technically finished as a standalone piece before I started combining these pieces, then the more correct ‘first line/s’ of this wip would be the new scene (which I’m still working on) I wrote to connect that first piece to the second one.

In which case:

Wei Wuxian stared at the ceiling for some time, his reaching hand long fallen back onto the bed. Another dream of seeing Lan Zhan again. Like all the others, it had felt so real. He had stopped visiting that pier in the hopes of seeing Lan Zhan again, but his mind kept sending him back there, night after night.

Still driving myself nuts over the tense change and transitioning it, but...present works really well for that initial dream sequence and I don’t want to re-write it XD wouldn’t be an issue if the first moments of waking weren’t also in present tense, making the transition super awkward, but I refuse to change them because it’s so beautiful and sad, I can’t mess with that 🤷‍♂️ I’ll just probably smack a chapter break between the two and torment my poor readers by leaving it on those sad lines for a few days before uploading the next chapter 😅

Oh man, though, if this was a ‘last line’ of your wip meme, y’all readers of my mer!au would lose your shit, I still squeal and flail whenever I look at the last lines of the last part that’s going into this multi-chapter set XD

Lan Xichen turned his face into the breeze. It ruffled his hair a little, what few strands weren’t smoothly pressed back, at least. It was still an almost uncomfortable sight, how similar their features were.

Wei Wuxian waited until Jiang Cheng was out of sight, and then his shoulders slumped. He lifted his hands to cover his face and inhaled slowly. He could barely contain himself, remembering Jiang Cheng caring for him like a younger brother, or maybe even a son. After the suspicion had passed, at least, but even then, he had been kinder to Wei Wuxian than he would have expected.

I went and started a mini-follow up to my 27k de-aged wwx fic that I may or may not have finished and may or may not still end up deleting, which was itself an alternate of an unposted oneshot focusing on lwj and lxc’s part of this same story and which I may or may not end up deleteting since I didn’t like it and that’s why I went and wrote jc and wwx’s side...sometimes it just be like that 🤷‍♀️ and god i want to write jin ling’s pov of the whole fucking thing too but yikes NO i need to stop

Kasen turned from the sheets he had just hung to dry, just for a moment, to see if Ookurikara’s distasteful state continued. He was resolved to say something if it did. There was only so much he could stand, and there was established etiquette for such things.

Whoops, also started a Kurikasen soulmate au cos I was throwing soulmate headcanons around with someone at like 2 in the morning and that’s a surefire recipe to get me writing (and in fact that’s how I started writing kurikasen in the first place, we were talking about them and I went onto ao3 and saw there 3 fics about them, went and was like OMG WHY to them, starting headcanoning with them and then hey next thing I knew I’d written 2 drabbles and it was 3am). But then while I started writing it we kept talking about it...so I sort of plotted the whole thing out and now my interest in writing it has plummeted so I’ll probably never finish it...but I’ve still been tinkering with it anyway...

“Pick herbs?”

“Yes. Herbs, mushrooms, anything. Just send him out of the castle for a day or two. If he stays a moment longer he’s going to cause an incident and—” Arthur stopped speaking abruptly.

Gaius raised both his eyebrows. “You are the prince, your highness. If you wish him to be gone for a time, why not order him yourself?”

“Oh, if there’s one thing I’ve learned about my useless servant, it’s that the only person he will actually listen to is you, Gaius,” Arthur said, sounding uncharacteristically bitter.

Sooo, @april-thelightfury115 I haven’t forgotten I owe you a merthur fic, and this isn’t technically the start of it, but it’s the start of the doc it’s in, I’m sort of writing bits of it out of order as they come to me. I haven’t written Merthur for so long and I don’t usually write with such a clear idea outline in my head so...we’ll see XD but I’m trying =)

ANYWAY

There’s a couple more small things here and there, I’ve been having such a hard time maintaining focus so I’ve just been hopping around my wips doing a little here and there, but let’s leave it with those 5 main things =)

I do migrate a lot. I’m active to some degree in all of my fandoms in terms of writing. I never really ‘leave’ a fandom, I just deviate for a while and then stop back in.

Currently I have 3 WIPs running on AO3. I plan to finish two of those without a doubt but the third one is from a fandom I’ve long left behind. I haven’t worked on it in years and honestly? I’ve long lost the motivation for it. I might actually take it down for the new year..

I am still active in DGM, in fact it's right now the only fandom I manage to be regularly active in. I am also active in MDZS however, but I have only one fic right now (and, to be fair, it might be a while until I write another, as all ideas I've had were able to fit in my current one). It takes a while before I migrate, it's always taken months at least before I started writing for another fandom, and for a while I still would go back to my other fandoms.

I still want to go back to other fandoms now, but with how I need my energy elsewhere, only DGM is now still rather good at inspiring me often (and, again, MDZS).

Oh yes, it matches. WangXian isn't up there since I have only one fic, but it's one of my two most loved OTPs so it's worth mentionning.

It's fully because I haven't written more, but Nea/Allen should be equal to Tyki/Allen. Ideally, Tyki/Allen/Nea should also be equal to both (and WangXian equal to all three of them). Those four ships are my OTPs, most loved accross all fandoms.

Merthur is however well deserved as after those four, that IS one of my most loved OTP. And then, I really, really love Mana&Allen so. It fits nicely!

... That's. basically all my fics, more or less. Definitely the main themes you can find. To be honest, it can fit a MDZS fic, too (heck, since I might leave some openess of ships, Shadows Symphonie can fit all of those).

How many WIPs do you have currently running on AO3? Any you don’t plan on finishing?

I have currently 18 WIPs: 6 for DGM, 2 for BBC Merlin, 2 for KKM, 1 for DGMxAC, 1 for MDZS, 1 for NatsuYuu, 1 for Pokemon, 1 for Outlast, 1 for FNAF, 1 for White Collar, 1 for YGO GX.

I plan to finish, one day, all of my WIPs. However, to be honest, I know the KKM and FNAF one might take longer or be harder, as the inspiration for those is... very, very low. For the YGO GX one, inspiration is also low. So while I do plan to finish them, it's going to be very slow.

The Outlast one is a bit better at inspiration wise, I know I can return to it, but I'll need to like, rewatch a gameplay, read over my notes.

The White Collar one and NatsuYuu one, it's just a matter of sitting down, maybe reading over a bit my things, but I know it can easily come back to me.

Pokemon and BBC Merlin, they're actually the three fics after my "mains" that I can see myself try to update in the next few weeks/months. Yeah, all the other ones, it is going to be luck if I updated them anytime in the first half of 2020. But those three? They're progressed enough to be easier to go back to. Also, the fandoms inspire me more.

This leaves ACxDGM one, MDZS one, and DGM ones. The MDZS one is honestly my main one right now, while two/three of the DGM ones are close second, and ACxDGM one a close third. Now all of those are fics I am definitely going to write for in the next few weeks, even if it takes a bit to have a chapter to update, I'll be working on those.

Fandoms You Write For: Mainly Teen Wolf, there mainly Sterek (with the occasional offering of Stoyd, Stackson and Stisaac, plus some miscellaneous prompted pairings), also some Merthur, and I’ve lately had several Drarry urges, which really takes you back! I’ve also written for SPN, and for Star Trek, and there’s some unpublished LOTR fic, but really, mostly my brain is all Sterek^^

Where You Post: here on tumblr (fics to be found on this page and under this tag) and over on AO3 Most Popular One-Shot: On tumblr: Favours, interestingly enough! It has overtaken Of dogs and deer darcy which I thought for sure would be the top! Both of them are Sterek, Favours involves some werewolf speed dating and Of dogs and deer darcy soulmate shenanigans!^^ Also, scrolling through my fic tag with an eye on the notes is very depressing - the 1k notes of Favours are wayyyyyy the outlier, like, most fics have somewhere between 10 and 50 notes outlier On AO3: by hits, comment threads, bookmarks and subscriptions: Homebound, which I’m again surprised by, but very happy about because I still love that fic a lot! It’s a sort of fix it Merthur, a little angsty and painful, but with a lot of healing and happy endings, I promise! by kudos: Here we finally have Of dogs and deer darcy in its rightful place^^ (It was my most popular fic across all platforms and categories for ages!) I think this was the first soulmate fic I wrote and it’s just cute and fluffy and funny and I do still love it! And I haven’t grown tired of soulmate AUs yet^^

Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: This isn’t hard because I haven’t split many fics into separate chapters, so here the unopposed winner is Fully grown, and a well deserved one, too! My longest finished fic to date, another soulmate AU, just an all around favourite apparently - certainly one of mine! And yes, that sequel will appear eventually, just not yet (and no worries, the fic is complete in and of itself, I just have more thoughts and feelings^^).

Favourite Story You Wrote: Now that’s just mean!  Any of the fic mentioned above are definitely favourites, but they do get some love already obviously, so I’ll mention two here that I think deserve more love and attention: On AO3 the only lonely boy in New York, a musician Sterek AU with pining and misunderstandings and angst and aaahhh!!! Also there be love songs and dramatic love confessions and really, what’s not there to love! Get on it, people! On tumblr Rose and thorn, because I’m always a sucker for fairy tale retellings (and will not stop with them) and I really like how this one turned out! (Also, it’s super close to triple digit notes which is very exciting, so go read and share^^)

Story You Were Nervous to Post: Posting is always nervewracking for me, because you never know how it will be received - most of the time it seems not to be received at all, which is quite disheartening in and of itself! I can’t remember worrying about negative reactions to any fic so far; there are fics hidden away in my folders that I’d fear could get a negative reaction, and well, there’s a reason those haven’t seen the light of day so far. Overall, for me the anxiety over whether anyone is even going to read my stuff and if they do, whether they are going to leave any reaction, is the worst thing about posting fic, and of course that gets worse the longer you’ve worked on something, so Fully grown was one of the badder ones in that respect.

How Do You Pick Your Titles: I cry and pray a lot. Sometimes I’ll come up with something sort of like a title right at the start and that just sticks (like Fully grown for example), but most of the time, it’ll be one of the last things and I absolutely suck at finding titles! Though summaries are way worse still, and tags are a nightmare of a different kind again^^° Those finishing touches really are hard!

Do You Outline: Sometimes. Rarely very in depth, mostly I’ll just know what I’m working towards and will keep that in mind while writing. For the longer fics I’ll sometimes have a sequence of scenes to work towards instead of just one final outcome, but so far I haven’t had a full scene by scene outline, nevermind something that blocks characters’ movements in a room or something like that!^^ So I guess the answer is sort of no :p

How Many Of Your Stories Are Complete: I have exactly one properly unfinished story posted and I feel TERRIBLE about it, so fic only gets published if it’s finished/can stand on its own now. That means it takes way longer for it to be published, but that’s just how it has to be for my own peace of mind^^ I do miss the potential interaction with readers when publishing something multi chaptered while it’s being written, though, and it’s also a very lonely process without really any feedback (apart from throwing poor Larissa occasionally at my unfinished messes), so I certainly don’t want to claim it’s the best way to do things!

In-Progress: Depends on what you mean by that - wip that are published: that’s just the one we don’t talk about :p wip that are being worked on behind the scenes - there I always have three to seven, even if I’m usually only working on one at a time :p Currently there’s a Drarry fic, two Sterek fics for Sterekweek which I REALLY need get to, several more Sterek fics, one Stoyd and one Stackson. But then again if you mean, touched in the last month, there’s probably not a single fic, and touched in the last half year would only give me three or so - my writing mojo is definitely off at war this year *sighs*

Coming Soon: Hopefully seven Sterekweek fics! :D Also, the one Drarry, but that will probably be shoved to after Sterekweek, because STEREKWEEK!!!!

Do You Accept Prompts: Theoretically yes, but I should warn you that I’ve been absolutely horrid at actually filling them over the last couple of ... years really^^° But you can always try your luck!

Upcoming Story You’re the Most Excited For: I’m honestly feeling a little discouraged with writing right now (and also, I have a headache right at this moment which makes excitement feel a little unreachable), so this question is harder than it should be, sadly! I think the Sterek ‘the Proposal’ AU I’m hoping to finish for Sterekweek should be really fun when I get it done and I’ve had some new ideas for the Stackson one, the first sequel to Pigtails, so that made me more excited for that one again! My brain cannot remember who is or is not a writer right now, so I’ll tag any writer who sees this and wants to do it! (Also, please hit me up and let me know if you are a writer who likes to do these things because I’m always struggling to come up with people to tag and it’d be absolutely wonderful to have a list to fall back on and know people are actually interested in doing this!!!)
