What kind of jobs do you think asoiaf characters would have in the real world?

jon - history podcaster, famous in lefty circles, robb keeps begging him to get a real job so the stans of his haters stop review bombing robb's law practice

dany - political twitch streamer, they have beef bc jon is an anarchist and dany is an ML.

barristan - he's an econimist and a landlord and dany gets dragged constantly for being friends with him and retweeting his shitty medium articles.

grey worm - he has A Real Job as a low level agriculture engineer but he does political commentary in his free time which is why he's friends with dany & barristan.

arya - runs a coffee shop and is everyone's favorite manager because she's super chill and drives them to protests on her days off. has a burner twitter account and ratioed barristan online once.

sansa - a small business owner that has one of those cute little storefronts where four or five small businesses band together to be one shop.

robb - has a law practice doing something Important like immigration help or something. lives in a nice apartment above his practice.

theon - literally just freeloads at robb's apartment.

jeyne westerling - receptionist at robb's practice, the power dynamic IS weird but also kind of sexy. they are both clearly fucking theon as well, ned has no idea this is happening and keeps asking about grandkids even tho jeyne has an IUD.

catelyn - she clerked for a scotus judge and she is NOT modest but she IS modest about the thanksgiving she spent at RBG's house. her instagram is dedicated to promoting sansa's business because she is sooo proud.

jeyne poole - the only non nepo baby in the group who lucked out in befriending two rich girls in the art fair circuit and got a storefront with them.

loras tyrell - think mayor pete but with more personality.

margaery tyrell - the third business owner with sansa & jeyne, but she uses her mother's maiden name so no one associates her with her brother's tacky lib poitics or accueses her of being a nepo baby (she definitely is, but she takes the accussation personal)

renly baratheon - a fed from a family of feds, and the FACE of a pinkwashing campaign

cersei & tyrion - political family but for local politics like the daleys or cuomos or castro brothers (as in joaquin and julian). they fucking hate loras for primarying tywin from the center and winning but also lowkey hate each other because they both want Tywin's seat as like, Lieutenant Governor or some shit.

jaime lanniser - was supposed to be in politics but got ptsd from his time in the military and became a professional hater and freeloader until brienne talked him into getting a degree and helping people instead of just giving donations to charity for tax write offs.

brienne of tarth - i have no idea what she does but she works for a non profit and is solidly middle class as a child.

the martells - they own a local chain grocery store and they have a rivalry with arya but they keep it classy. oberyn posts thirst traps all the time and doran made him put 12 disclaimsers on every social media profile about not speaking for the store but otherwise he does what he wants. yeah man pour milk over your tiddies for charity who gives a fuck.

7 days until THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT makes its debut and I wanted to make a little predictions post. I’m so excited to hear the devastation Miss Swift seems to have in store for us and I can’t wait to hear what it sounds like. There’s often a song on the previous album that is an early edition of the subsequent album’s sound. I have 4 guesses that may be a peek at what’s in store next Friday. Since it seems like it may be relevant, these songs are also thematically on trend, however we should always remain alert to Taylor loving a bait and switch.

1) Dear Reader/You’re Losing Me: I think these songs might be a thematic trend for what’s in store. A look at her own faults and things she may have kept hidden to put on a brave face. A breakdown of why a break up happened. However, I suspect that she will have sonically moved on from these two. I do not think she would put out Midnights 2.0.

2) The Great War: an advancement of Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights’ sounds while still being on theme.

3) Hits Different: I’m not 100% sure what to call this genre. Sort of a late 90’s/early 00’s adult contemporary-alt-pop-singer-songwriter Alanis/Natalie Imbruglia/Michelle Branch/vanessa Carleton vibes. Maggie Rogers has really started exploring this space and Olivia Rodrigo’s dipped her toes in a bit as well (anyone else an immediate Girl I’ve Always Been stan?). However, is there enough variety in sounds here for 20 new Swift songs to explore? Maybe not, but a biased me hopes she might dabble a bit more as it’s a really great genre for her to fire off a bunch of killer lines with a bit of sass or sense of humor. There’s also the artifacts/evidence lines in Hits Different and those words have made their way into some of the small amount of information we’ve gotten prior to the albums release.

4) The Alcott: while not from Midnights, this is still in the right time period so it fits in my opinion! Midnights maybe started off with a few songs written with Aaron Dessner before a pivot to full Antonoff based on an interview Aaron gave where he talked about when they worked on Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve. Maybe there were some more things she kept in the drafts for later. A heavier emphasis on the piano (perfect for acoustic surprise songs!), heavy and melancholy vibes, and vague lyrics that might still be protecting some identities seems like an easy pivot for her.

5) Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve: a surprise 5th option I thought of writing number 4! Raw, angry, a bit more rock-influenced, many people were expecting this direction based on the aesthetic of the Midnights photoshoot. Taylor’s in tune with her audience and is certainly aware this is a sound nobody would be sad to see from her. It fits with the emotional space she might have been in, and is another genre pivot she could dominate. She is strategic though, and an Album of the Year nom is pretty unlikely back to back with her record-setting win in a very stacked year. Knowing how successful these full pivots have been for her, she might hold off until a more advantageous time. Although I think post-pandemic cancelled Lover-fest (with possibly Cruel Summer as a single attached?) and the adoration for some of the vault songs has made her not want to hesitate to put out good music. You never know what’s around the corner and it’s easier to stay on top than claw your way back up.

Which vibes are your favorite and what are you hoping for from TTPD? Cowboy Carter review is imminent and I hope to fire off Maggie Rogers’ before next Friday too!

ohhhh you are so so so kind to me okay

gonna stick mostly w modern day headcanons bc I’ve covered a lot of my canon era headcanons in my fic so

- his music taste varies WILDLY. he listens to a lot of female rap artists but he is a doja stan till the end, hes also big on kacey musgraves, glamrock music, and for childhood sentimentality (and also Bc her music fucks) lorde. he’s not much for pop punk but likes the occasional paramore, and enjoys Sidney Gish quite a bit !

- he has no active opinion on taylor swift (except light disdain) but will clown on ciel until the day he dies for liking her music. he respects reputation era bc he thinks its camp (and he’s right) (but he does secretly really like don’t blame me)

- following up on the lorde thing, ‘the love club’ is SUCH an alois song To Me. listen to it and join me in understanding

- okay enough about music, he is very into the y2k trend. he is a menace on thrift stores for this reason. (ciel will not touch him when he’s wearing thrifted clothes until they’ve been washed at least 5 times). his other style inspo is Harley Quinn in birds of prey. you know that one outfit? w the pink top and the caution tape jacket? that’s how he dresses

- he gets a strong following on tiktok when he’s a bit too young to, and after processing a lot of the shit in his life, quits social media entirely for a year or so, and eventually returns with a well-curated instagram and an occasional youtube where he makes longer-form content (gothic novel reviews, rants about shitty YA books, hauls and try-one, videos where he drags in Lizzie — popular in her own right — and Ciel — literally no non-business online presence — to play video/card games w him). his youtube doesn’t do a tenth of the numbers his tiktoks did but he’s happy enough !

- he actually Can drive! he is not good at it by any means, and is as aggressive as any jersey driver, and has absolutely terrible road rage, but ciel refuses to get a license and lizzie is a bit inattentive, so alois is often the one driving

- Lizzie and Alois besties in every single universe. concept for a modern au where Lizzie and Ciel share an apartment in college and Lizzie brings home her new friend she met at the doja cat concert and oh fuck it’s that guy who tried to kill me when we were 13.

- alois gets a rescue pitbull as an esa and her name is peaches. he takes some warming up to the amount of clean up (and dog slobber) but eventually comes to love that dog with everything he is

- his favorite movies include: velvet goldmine, wolfwalkers, but im a cheerleader

- he has transfem swag

- once he’s processed most of his problems, he learns to vent his more sadistic tendencies by being absolutely cruel to his sims (his sim world is fascinating)

- he always orders the weirdest ice cream flavor on the menu. this was once cicada ice cream with real cicadas. he very much enjoyed it

my final and most important headcanon:

- it takes time and it takes work, and it is not always perfect, but he gets to a place where he is, overwhelmingly, happy

Light Bringer Preview Spoilers

Sevro saved him from Attica, he feels he can only do the same. SonI completely understand why Darrow goes through loops on his journey home.

I was a bit disappointed with the lack of prologue. But Darrow's pov is a balm to the soul. 8 months have festered the emotions for everyone, but only Darrow can make me truly believe that in a shit situation, you can find one glimmer of beauty that makes you...appreciate living to see it.

Can we also talk about his training? I stan 😏

Darrow trying to pick himself up after losing is soothing to me. I needed that so much. His love is an eternal spring. He keepsbon giving and we love him more and more for it. I loved his love for his family as well, for his roots.

Noticed how he mentions casually that he used to wake Pax up from his nightmares? He is a great da' when he is allowed to be. I assume after the home invasion, Pax started having them. Hopefully this and the journal shuts some mouths.

I also...dislike some attitudes. How did Char lose Rhonna to be exact? Cassius, I expected. He has not talked in favour of Lysander yet, so he's safe from my wrath. Glad he admits he'd bottom for Darrow tho. I laughed out loud at 'we reshearsed this' wtf.

Of course the cbapter would be cut off in high tension 🙃. That is one hell of a promo.

Starting off strong with genderqueer Stan. Stan was like I’m not a man or a woman but I do not have the decisiveness to know anything other than that (cause same)

Bill, Beverly, and Richie are all bisexual and they fight over the title of bi disaster of the friend group

Mike is ace but constantly questions himself because he knows that a asexuality is a spectrum so he’ll at anytime be like nope sex still doesn’t seem right thanks

Did Eddie buy a pride flag? Yes. Did he also hide said pride flag under his bed an entire year so his mom didn’t find out about his closeted ass? Yes again

Bev rates clothing stores pride collections and takes minimum one loser with her to model clothes for her review posts. (+when Richie tags along he without fail buys the tackiest clothing item in the collection)

Ben didn’t realize he liked individuals other than women until he was out of college so he thought it would be impossible to find any guy who would like him since he’d only ever been with girls. (+this proves to be untrue seeing as he’s hot, romantic, and successful, he pulls)

Richie was Stan’s gay awakening (I head canon they’re pan but yk) and they will forever be ashamed of this

as far as ch12 goes..... i knew it, i knew it would be minseok, gosh i never hated a man as BIG as i hate him, i was so disgusted by how he treated her !!!! and how he chose to use his tone to have her submit like that, istg i was about to jump off my screen to punch him in the face💀 thank god for her friends hearing her and stepping up! woo losing his temper was also such a mood maket, his protective nature over his best friend possibly being hurt was such a sight to see!

- “What do ya got on, apple dumpling gang? Pajamas?” Apparently, the ninja’s suits are so low quality that they can be mistaken for pajamas ❌

- “Our spinjitzu doesn’t work!” Looked fine to me, at least long enough for the cops to see it and realize something was up ❌

- The cops picked up the ninja at night, and now it’s the next morning. They think these are actual kids, so why are they just now trying to call their parents? And who are they gonna call? Did the ninja give them a phone number? ❌

- Actually, why don’t the ninja just give them Wu’s number so that he can come pick them up? Surely he’s seen weirder things than his pupils turning into kids; I doubt he’d just ignore the call, especially if the ninja’s names were dropped ❌

- Ninja change clothes directly behind this group of young kids ❌

- ^ You may think the phone dangling is just a gag, but it’s actually a clever way to symbolize how the fandom is hanging on by a thread as we wait for the rest of Crystalized to drop ✅

- The TV in Buddy’s Pizza is playing the clips from the pilot that show how each the ninja met Wu. Where could anyone have gotten the footage for that? The fandom in REAL LIFE can barely find those episodes! ❌

- “You’re… SMALL!” Unsupervised 8 year-old walks into a public pizza place with nunchucks, shurikens, a sword and a scythe but him raising his voice is what draws attention? ❌

- “Yeah, but you don’t know the Grundle.” And you do? The only research you did was listen to Garmadon plagiarize a lecture from the History Channel ❌

- The ninja spend this entire episode making fun of Lloyd for reading comic books despite the fact that they are (near) adults who still play video games. Fun fact: there is nothing wrong with either of these things, but it still makes the ninja hypocrites for trying to claim one is fine when the other isn’t ❌

- “Fellas, meet Rufus McAllister, AKA, Mother Doomsday!” Oh, thank god. Not a dr*g dealer… just a Marvel fan. Wait, that might be worse…

- “Well, if it isn’t Lloyd Hemorrhoid Garmadon!” ⬇️

- I get it’s life and death and all, BUT the ninja still steal (and ultimately break) four illumi-swords, and they never actually pay for those autographed suits ❌

- Also, episode expects me to now carry on the season with the knowledge that the 4 ninja are wearing cheap copies of their previous suits, with their OWN autographs on them ❌

- The Grundle takes a ridiculously long time to eat the ninja… no wonder it went extinct ❌

- “You’ll miss out on the rest of your childhood, dude. We can’t do that to you!” The problem is that Lloyd’s already missing out on his childhood, and realistically that probably won’t change, regardless of some magical age-up, but the episode never touches on that at all ❌

- “They are the real ninja” Yeah, no sh*t dude! ❌

- I love how weirded out the ninja look about older Lloyd ✅

- I’m gonna say it: his hair still f*cking sucks ❌

- “You can have my copy of Starfarer. You deserve it.” “That’s okay, I already know how it ends.” If people stopped watching a series because they already got spoiled about it then I can guarantee Ninjago would not have a fandom, especially in the U.S.❌

- Okay, look… I hate the age up. I wish it didn’t happen, mostly because it was kinda treated like the same situation as a young adult needing to grow up (“there comes a time we all must grow up”) and Lloyd is a child. He has a responsibility, yes, and his circumstances force him to grow up early, but he should still be allowed to enjoy whatever childhood he has left, because he’s not going to get that back. Even if they kept the age-up in, the better resolution for this episode should’ve been the ninja letting Lloyd have the comic so that he can read it in his off time. ❌

- Further, it’s treated as if the concept of “all work, no play” is a healthy mindset/work ethic, which it’s NOT. Nonstop training all day shouldn’t be Lloyd’s reality because it isn’t healthy, regardless of age. People are known to perform better when given breaks, so let him have some breaks! ❌

- That being said, this entire ending monologue with the comic book-style art of Lloyd vs. Garmadon is so f*cking cool. I want this art as a poster! ✅

- “Yes, the time until the Final Battle has grown shorter… but the Green Ninja has grown stronger.” ✅✅✅✅✅✅

Tales From The Frontlog: Fashion Dreamer

I was able to belt out this review so quick because there’s not much to Fashion Dreamer. I got this less than 24 hours ago. So. Neat.

Firstly: I love it.

You dress up, make designs, dress up other people, and make a little in home store front for other people to look at. It’s stylish and fun.

But it’s not a game I would recommend to most people. It’s a very repetitive experience. Which actually isn’t a complaint. It’s relaxing and I can turn my brain off like I can for Picross. But even though I like it, I’m hesitant to call it… great.

Fashion Dreamer is plain bread and butter fashion. If you’re looking for something with a lots of side activities this isn’t it.

Fashion Dreamer has a gacha like system for what clothes you’ll run into next. Either on billboards, homes, or on other people. And getting designs to make on your own requires either a gacha or special currency to unlock the recipe.

There’s also a bingo game? This earns you pink star currency which is used for your “home” and creating designs. It’s fine. It needs a “Use 10 at a time” option like the gacha has.

Honestly? The most fun part are the lookits. People can design your character and send you the look they made. I find this to actually be insanely cool. I love it. I enjoy making nice things for other people.

And people put in real effort to make nice things for you too. You can see the thought put behind the outfits and I find that to be very sweet. There’s even a little guide to see their preferences, though following it isn’t required. I gave folks free range for me because… I like all the styles. I’m curious what people will come up with.

Love Nikki (Which is an amazing mobile fashion game. I played that every day for 3 years straight) had supremely spoiled me. It has a lot of small things that makes it great. (On top of being an RPG) but Fashion Dreamer really could take a note and make a few tweaks to make it a better experience.

For example: There’s no favorites button and the max clothing you can own is 5000. That’s insane. Why??? I don’t want to hunt through 5000 clothing items for certain things all the time? Just add it as a filter! Gah!

Speaking of the filter: a color filter. The game clearly recognizes color. Make a god damn color filter.

Also no “closet feature” so you can keep multiple looks saved for the one muse. Like come on, that’s a basic function. You can have multiple avatars, but that’s not the same thing.

Fashion Dreamer makes up for this by apparently being updated with new clothing and looks monthly (for free). In either December or January there will even be an event. So that’s cool!

Normally games like this are quite… lazy about providing styles that match all tastes. The design aspect of Fashion Dreamer could be a lot stronger. But Fashion Dreamer in general has a really good spread of “casual everyday” styles. Also there are men in the game and men’s fashion both fem and masculine. That’s cool. You love to see it.

Though while the men can wear some of the fem accessories, hairstyles, etc (and vice versa), it still adheres to a gender binary. You can look somewhat ambiguous, but that’s different than being allowed to wear the dresses and skirts. Mostly just mentioning that because… it’s disappointing.

Also. Just a side note (Just mentioning this because it’s funny), I made my model massive. I picked the tallest option. I stan a tall queen.

Nearly everyone I’ve seen seems to prefer the little chicken nugget models. So I’m walking through this game like a god damn GIANT when I see everyone else’s avatars.

Overall Fashion Dreamer is solid. But it’s a game where you have to manage your expectations. Kinda like a lot of games like it. You have to be aware it’s going to be a chill experience. And that’s okay.

Edit: WHY ARE THE CREDITS UNSKIPPABLE AND SO FUCKING LONG???

Bad Batch Season 2 Review

Well, we’re alive... I guess. I’m still processing that finale too. There is no doubt that we’ll be getting season 3, especially with that cliffhanger ending. There’s so much more story to unpack so I have a feeling we’ll be anxiously waiting a year or two. I give this season overall 8/10. I really, really did enjoy it. Even the “filler” episodes were quite enjoyable and gave us interesting developments. 

Y’all know who my favorite character is. He’s literally my pfp. You guys heard all my rants and saw my posts. So, thank you for that. Anyway, I’m so proud of Crosshair. Despite being in like 3 episodes, he really stole the show. Every episode he was in was phenomenal. The writers did a fantastic job portraying his loneliness, struggle, and sorrow. I’m still so proud of him. This man suffered for his family, despite everything that happened last season. Crosshair proved his love for his brothers was stronger than anything Hemlock could put him through. That is powerful and beautiful. 

Crosshair aside, Tech was the real star of the show. Seeing his development was incredible. We really got to see who Tech was and understand how he sees the world. It was beautiful. I was blown away by his convo with Omega in ep. 10. Speaking of... current events... I will still hold out hope for his return. (I’m coming for you Dave). Seeing Tech grow really hit my feels. I also thought his relationship with Phee was cute.

As for the other characters, I really enjoyed seeing them again. Omega is her usual kind and helpful self. She’s a sweetheart who doesn’t deserve to suffer. All she wants is a family. Wrecker is a teddy bear and I love him. Echo the mom was also great. I’m proud of him for finding his own path. And Hunter. Oh Hunter, what will I do with you? As a Crosshair stan, it’s sometimes hard to go along with some of Hunter’s decisions even though I understand where he’s coming from. Still, I did enjoy seeing him in action and I always love his dad mode activating. 

Other things I really enjoyed were the visuals and the music. They were phenomenal as usual. It was cool to see Riyo stand up for the clones and the beginning of the clone rebellion. Thank the lord Rampart is gone but Hemlock will be a thorn in my side... fantastic and creepy villain. 

Favorite episode: The Outpost

Favorite moment: Crosshair’s trek with Mayday (such a powerful and tragic moment)

How do you feel about Dobson portraying the “stagnation” of comics being 100% the fault of the comics industry, but not mentioning anything like the Comics Code of Authority, the time Lynn Johnston was sent death threats for having a character come out as gay in a comic strip, or Stan Lee and Jack Kirby wrote themes of civil rights and racial discrimination in the goddamn X-Men???

Let me put it this way: There is this one strip he did called Comic History 101, in which he essentially blames comic stores to have been breeding grounds for "toxic" nerddom, all so he can virtue signal of how others (aka him) have to expose the toxic fandom mentality. That strip offends me for a variety of reasons, and the fact that it is more of an shitty opinion piece instead of relying on genuine historic facts is one of them. And yeah, I will review it in the near future.

now I am from Europe, so I honestly know little about the Comics Code of Authority, the Lynn Johnston incident (I didn't even know who she was till I googled her name up and even then I never read her work) and some other potential things to bring up. But even then me, someone who did not "study" how to be a cartoonist, has heard about certain of these things, read up on them or absorbed some knowledge via popcultural osmosis. And the fact Dobson either knows so very little on these subjects or willingly ignores bringing stuff up to make his "view" more valid, always irked me.

Dumb Money Move Review

Directed by Craig Gillespie

Dumb Money is the ultimate David vs. Goliath tale, based upon the insane true story of everyday people who flipped the script on Wall Street and got rich by turning GameStop (yes, the mass video game store) into the hottest item on the market.

Who couldn't remember the GameStop Stock frenzy in 2020 and 2021. Not only was it less than three years ago, but it showed the world how horribly rigged the stock market is. So adapting this real life David vs. Goliath to the big screen was going to be no small task and enemies will most likely be made on Wall Street. Thankfully, Dumb Money succeeds in this absurd tale. It's similar to The Big Short but embraces its Reddit humor that drove one of the wildest stock market craze since the 2008 Financial Crisis.

Throughout the film we follow YouTuber/Day Trader Keith Gills from his humble beginnings to becoming a millionaire by creating what we now call "meme stocks". We witness how the top one percent of the one percent try to screw over the little guy time and time again, but to no avail. This madness of a story is constructed well and relatively concise in this 100 minute run time. The story embraces the Reddit memes and humor that drove to this stock market craze with impeccable precision. Nearly every single joke lands and the film is just a fine time to watch. The writing is sharp and the dialogue is witty. Witty enough that is might earn an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Paul Dano character of Keith Gills, is the films heart and center. He becomes the anchor to both the narrative and the characters of the film. Dano holds his ground here as the films leading man. We watch him guide fellow traders into the short squeeze, and drain the uber rich of their money. His wide eyed followers played by American Ferrera, Talia Ryder, Myha'la Herrold, and Anthony Ramos, play working calls American struggling to make ends meet, to which all of them succeed. We also watch those in a position of power manipulate the game to their own advantage, played masterfully by Seth Rogan, Nick Offerman, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Sebastian Stan. Each perfectly portray the ego and the greed driving this horrible businessmen. All of these eccentric characters are very well balanced, which each character having their moment to shine, but never outshining one another.

However, within this insanity, the film is never given a chance to dig into certain events and characters due to its broad stoke when approaching the story. Which works for the film, but you can't help but with that the film dig a little deeper into this craze. Overall, Dumb Money is a very fun film that explores the insanity of the stock market game. It never talks down nor lectures its audience on the politics at hand, but instead chooses to show the events that happened in a smart and comedic manner. By the film ends, it gives a glimmer of hope that the everyday man can take down Wall Street because we now have the key. All we need to do, is to be together.

I’m seeing so many people trying to make liking or disliking giorgia look like a moral crusade when it’s really not that deep. However, the amount of white girlies being so ride or die for her solely on the grounds of “we like her boyfriend’s music” is worrying, so allow me to bring up a few things about the old ask.fm episode people are leaving out:

- she blocked the first girl who tried to approach her about it privately

- literally months before she was praising damiano for “owning up and apologizing” about the C-slur in the blackk skinhead cover and reposting old pics from the same accounts where she was dropping the N-word and being islamophobic that she said she had no access to on her very dumb apology

- used the argument that at least she is not an all out fascist like many in italy (I’m paraphrasing bc I got brain damage when I read the word “mussolini” in her notes apology Ig story)

- she wasn’t “some teenager on the internet”, she was a grown ass woman in her twenties dropping the most worldwide recognizable anti-black slur in 2015. I don’t think she is a racist but to act like this was some “teenage mistake” is extremely problematic

Other instances where she fucked up but was, for some reason, above criticism:

- when italian book critics reviewed her book (yk, their job) and said she wasn’t a very strong writer and maybe too literal on her erotic poems, she literally threw damiano (and maneskin) under the bus saying that IWBYS was erotic too to try to defend her garbage store brand rupi kapur wannabe writings

- implied Vic is “just a bass player” when people confronted her for what she said about IWBYS (she only meant to insult her boyfriend’s writing you guys, not the melody of the song 🥰)

- “I don’t need to show up at protests to be an activist, I can do it from home bc I’m chronically ill and can’t stand up for too long!” *goes on a 45-day traveling reality show from india to cambodia (i think)*

- she is a self proclaimed activist but all you’re gonna find on her account is ADS (this is a problem with all influencers who call themselves activists tbh)

Even if you move past all that, her vibes are SUPER FUCKING RANCID (personal opinion but also unforgivable lmao)

But seriously, if you wanna stan her, go ahead, no one is gonna stop you. But pls stop persecuting people who don’t share your opinion for having a thought and sometimes sharing them online *among ourselves*

The Elwood Dagmar Memorial Marathon returns in 2022! This time, we will be raising money for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and the Humane Society of the United States!

For those who don’t know, Elwood Dagmar was Kit’s boy; she got him while she was living in Milwaukee when he was just a little guy. He was a grumpy old man who would cuddle on his terms and loved to wander down the hall of our building and sit under the stairs until we made him head back to the apartment. On weekend mornings, he would come into my room and sit with me in bed until I got up. We sadly had to let him go in April 2020 when he developed major kidney problems. We miss him every day and now hold this marathon in his honor.

For this year’s marathon, Kit will be playing the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. We don’t have a set goal in mind for fundraising, but if we get to $1000, I will read something I’ve written on air. I currently have no idea what.

Yes I ordered another expensive LP issue.

This one is full on gourmet high end box ticking limited edition.

It is the Impex Stan Getz / Gilberto onestep album. Double 45 heavy super vinyl. And yes I got it after seeing and watching reviews on You tube. I am not immune.

First in my defense the music is considered important. Jazz geeks like it for Mr Getz's Sax and it is approachable by normal people. At least one authority said it is the one jazz album his wife likes. It includes the famous "Girl from Ipanena" which made the Album a huge hit in 1964.

Now the Hit status had several consequences that are almost too much for an audio geek. This plays with the all analog versus digital versus historical purity game. From what I gather the original is a 3 Track tape master and that was mixed down to another tape or maybe not. As it became a hit they made a lot of copies and the master got rather worn out.

There is a large book included that will describe in painful detail what they did. We will see.

Impex got Bernie Grundman to do the mastering. He is a master of mastering one of the best if not the GOAT. They used an original tape and in the one step process that Impex used they cut a new lacquer for every 500 LPs which means they ran this tape 15 times to get all 7500 LPs done. Pure analog as it can be. Thereby hangs the tale.

The early copies expose tape flaws and dropouts and the limits of analog recording for all to see. Yes this was an old tape. The reviewers of course got the "freshest" runs and I am sure mine is down on the list.

The benefit of this purity is that the sound is more natural and ticks the audiophile boxes. The consensus is this is a must have Jazz album.

This guy has a record store and is a SERIOUS collector and dealer. His response is pretty typical. Oh for what its worth I think he has a full McIntosh system.

This guy is also the person who went and talked to MOFI in their shop when the story broke about their analog impurity.

Full disclosure I ordered the album from a Canadian Vendor who was not jacked the price up past the US exchange rate. Still expensive though.

The Digital guys say the original should have been put on DSD where the speed could be adjusted using the tape carrier frequency and tape dropouts could have been patched. And they could have done as many runs as they wanted without further wearing out the precious tape. All good points. I expect that something like that may appear in the future.

For me I respect the effort that went into this issue. I did not have the album and I like Jazz. It is like the Pawn shop album a must have for sound. I figure it is probably going to hold value if I tire of it. This is a lot cheaper than buying electronics.

Oh one more editorial thing. Impex takes great pride in analog purity, but maybe they wink now and then. They also have an extensive catalog of Jennifer Warnes including Famous Blue Raincoat. FBR was an original Digital recording. They talk about using the original analog "mix down" tapes. So not first generation is it.
