‘will and robin are already gay they can't all be gay’ I, personally, believe that them being gay means that they all have to be gay, legally. all the gays I know flock together unintentionally that's just how it works if one is gay they all are I dont make the rules. will being gay and robin coming out would have a domino effect if it were real life you just dont know ur queer science so shut up and let the experts talk, thank you

Re-watching the fourth season, you can see back in the first episode, a very funny and interesting detail.
The scene takes place in the first 15 minutes of season 4 episode 1. Nancy yells at Mike for being late, then we get to the most interesting part. Karen starts talking about how Mike needs to finish their hellclub game earlier to get to bed at 9pm because his flight is at 6am.
There's some dialog going on.
Karen: No buts. Nine or no California
Ted: And no sweetie pie.
Tumblr media
After Ted's words, Mike has a confused look on his face. But why? Mike knows his dad isn't talking about his girlfriend El.
We remember that Ted and Karen don't know about El because in season one the government people came and told the family to stay away from the girl. I don't think Mike, Lucas or Dustin's parents know about El.
So then who could Ted be talking about if it's not El? Will. He was talking about Will. In season one, Ted threw phrases like, "our son with a girl?" which makes it clear that Ted's making homophobic comments about his son and he's probably thinking about his son dating his friend.
Tumblr media
Also, the letters that come to Mike from Colifornia, the parents may think it's from Will, since they don't even know about Mike's girlfriend and only Will, in this case, in their eyes, sends Will to Mike in return.
+The pie is made mainly from fruit, but we remember what they call people who are gay.
I think this is another way of showing us that Byler exists and we didn't make it up.

Just started ST s4 with my Mama, we're halfway through episode 3, and gosh are her opinions noteworthy.
Firstly, she has been very pissed at Mike and the way he's been treating El. Y'know that scene at the dinner table, the one where Joyce or someone was asking about what happened at Rink O' Mania, and Mike makes a comment over how the girl El schmacked with a skate "didn't look fine" - single handedly escalating the ready sensitive situation? My mother, quote:
"Oh- shut up you! Y'know if [insert my father's name here] did that I'd smack him."
"You'd dump his ass?"
"I'd dump his ass."
I've now asked for her thoughts on milkvan's relationship (she's oblivious to my ulterior motives) and she told me that it doesn't seem as if Mike loves El anymore, that he isn't treating her like he does.
She also reads the way Mike is acting towards Will as very strange. She can't fathom a reason as to why they'd seemed so close previously, yet now have Mike pushing Will away and being distant. Why he's treating him strangely.
"It's very weird."
This is made all the more prevalent as we're watching these seasons back to back, the difference in Mike's behaviour being night and day.
Now listen up listen up. My mother, is NOT a fan of queer things. She'll try and evade this being a possibility for any movie or show character until the fact of their gayness is outright confirmed. This is why, at this second, Mike is very confusing to her. I don't even think she's put two and two together about Will's sexuality yet. But man when I tell you she is catching on. Like she doesn't know what's up with Mike, but her only ways for describing his act have been synonyms to the word 'weird'.
Can you just imagine if we didn't have a closeted explanation for this guy? What even would his character excuse be???
Man I can not wait to get to those undeniable byler moments. If she, my mother, think that Mike seems gay? then, guys, he is gay.

So, I have a friend. He’s an older gay man. An ElderGay™️ as I like to think of him. In his early 60’s. Nice dude. He’s never watched Stranger Things before. So I conducted a little experiment.
I showed him three scenes from season 4 and asked for his thoughts on the characters. Those scenes were Mike and Will in Will’s bedroom, the van scene, and Will and Jonathan in the pizza kitchen. And you know what the first thing he said was? Even before the first scene was over? “I think the one in the blue shirt wants to be more than friends with the other one.” I kid you not. Without prompting. Without any context. He watched that scene and clocked Mike Wheeler immediately. It was more obvious to him than Will being gay, and Will is the one who is canonically gay. The van scene only reinforced this opinion of his. And the scene with Will and Jonathan literally made him cry.
I wanted to share this for two reasons. One, to show that removed from the context of Mike’s relationship with El, his feelings for Will are easy to see, even without 3 prior seasons of buildup. And two, the way queer themes are handled in this show are extremely meaningful, especially for older queer people who lived through that era. This man is literally twice my age, and there we both were, with tears running down our faces, watching how Jonathan affirmed and cared for his gay little brother. It’s so important for queer people and their friends and family everywhere to see interactions like these in mainstream entertainment.
So, anyway, Byler endgame lol
