The fact fandoms today will thirst over things like robots to personified TVs, and how so much ship fan fiction is written like this, just makes this scene even funnier today.
Do you guys remember Drawn Together? I was talking to my friends about the show the other day and I was suddenly flooded with memories of my teenage crush on Xandir 🫠
When I announced that my podcast was going to be discussing Drawn Together, most people were like "why?" Fair question! But here’s the thing: While this show does traffic in early 2000s-style shock humor — it’s basically South Park without as much political agenda — it actually did a decent job showing that coming out is hard and scary when you don’t have a community to back you up. So even if someone was just tuning in to hear Adam Carolla say offensive things, they would have still watched the Xandir plotline and maybe developed the slightest bit of understanding for queer people. MAYBE. It’s plays out better than you might think.
For this episode, we only feature clips from the Xandir story. The B-plot involves the Pikachu parody Ling Ling and it's basically just a bunch of bad Asian jokes that seem too lazy to push any real envelopes. It's complicated, sure, but there is some good in there, I swear.
