you're like, the go to omegaverse blog, so i was wondering if you had any ideas on how asexuality/aromanticism would present itself in the omegaverse, definitely something i've spent sleepless nights pondering

As a confused ace, I think it varies.

There can be people with heats/ruts but don't feel the need to share it with another person. Maybe they want someone to be there but not do anything sexual. They could actually have sex. Who knowssss.

They might not be driven by their instincts like other people are. It doesn't take away the fact that they are an Alpha, Beta, or Omega or female, male, or trans. They just are.

I would think, like irl, there are just people who are like "you just haven't met the right person" or "when you have sex, you'll change your mind". Sure, maybe that is applicable to some people but that still doesn't erase their ace identity and who they are attracted to.

Where nmj in rut will get overly anxious if jc even as much as leave his sight, even to go to their room to get something without him. Something in his gits simply cannot stop worrying, he /has/ to make sure his mate will be alright.

So he follows jc around the apartment all day long, hands nearly always on him. if jc is making them some food he'll be behind him hugging and looking over his shoulder, whispering to be careful (and keeping himself from taking the knife, knowing his mate would be angry if he fully kept him from doing things around the house).

and jc tried to find a solution so nmj wouldn't necessarily need to get out of the house without him when in rut. He tried having him on the phone as he did grocery and even face timing!!

but all it managed to do was have nmj run out the apartment not even five minutes after he got out in the phone call and nmj sprinted directly to the store he was at when he caught sight of other alphas looking at his mate.

so jc has simply accepted having nmj sticking to him closely when they are out for things they need. He usually try to have what they need, but sometimes they are missing things and he needs to go out.

what he won't complain about is that no one is bothering him when nmj is around, chasing away literally any alpha who even just glances in their direction (not that nmj scenting him excessively doesn't do the job in the first place).

Where jc needs to put his foot down is when he needs to go to work. He has no choice but to go and nmj cannot just scare away every colleague he has. They compromised on nmj taking him to and from work (although jc knows he must stay at a caf. nearby all day long, he pity slightly the poor barista who needs to deal with him and his rut scent all over the place). He will face time him on breaks, reassuring him that /yes/ he is doing alright. No, no one has tried to hit on him (as if any alpha who has seen nmj would even /try/).

Sometimes jc thinks of how unimpressed some would be. nmj is pretty tall, large and strong, even by alpha general standards. He can even be scary-looking (jc did find him scary when he was younger).

So some would imagine he must be a beast when in rut right?

they would probably be unimpressed by how needy, cuddly, possessive and protective nmj suddenly becomes once he hit his (not that he isn't any of those usually, it's just turned to 200%).

But jc doesn't really mind. There is something nearly cute in how nmj tries to protect him

of even the most harmless thing around him. Sure, it can be exasperating by moment, but there is something about it that he would trade for a beast in the bed.

If what his alpha need is reassurance and security about him being safe then he will give him that as best as he can, the same way nmj gives him all the help he can when jc enters heat, despite nmj not being interested in sex himself. and as jc got out of work one day, seeing nmj pace anxiously (probably wondering if he should go in to find him) while holding some of their favourites drinks, he thinks to himself "I wouldn't trade this for anything"

The one and only headcanon that, to me, makes perfect sense is aroace Katniss Everdeen. I felt that her romantic interactions with Peeta and Gale were one-sided throughout most of the book, and if anything, were a large part due to her need to survive the games. I do not believe that she was in any way averse to sex or romance though; otherwise she would not be in such a strong romantic relationship with Peeta nor have kids with him. But I do find it sad that she was basically straightwashed to fulfill her role in the love triangle.

sqh knows it is partially his fault, as he probably scared his mate when he ran away the first time after the Northern Realm Ascension trials. But how could he have known how his king felt like that towards him?

mbj already has difficulty trusting people (although he feels really happy that mbj trusts him that much!!). But over the years they worked through it and he knows mbj is more secure about their relationship (especially since he became his mate).

yet, every time mbj would hit his rut it was different. sqh had been surprised the first time he passed it with him as a partner, as mbj didn't seem interested in sex.

But he had noticed how obsessed he was with him (or rather more than usual) and how protective he would get.

It had been an interesting discussion once mbj was out of his rut, but now sqh could better understand his mate and help him out better. Didn't want to mate for hours on end? Fine by him, it was easier dealing with someone who needed to be by your side 24/7 rather than someone who wanted to fuck all day long without giving him a break.

Instead, the omega would go: NO, I am not trying to run away again. Yes, this servant will stay by his king's side. Yes, they can cuddle in bed once he is finished with all his paperwork for the day (paperwork that mbj should be doing, but he won't point that out). Yes, my king can bathe with me, but he /cannot/ watch me going to pee! No, it's not tHE SAME!!!

I wonder how controversial it would be to headcanon Gideon Nav as an ace lesbian.

The only times she actually expresses interest in women’s sexual anatomy is when talking about hypothetical or fictional women. We know she likes her fictional necromancers to have unrealistic cleavage and she talks about beds of writhing babes in the abstract, but when it comes to the actual women she’s actually interested in it just doesn’t come up. I know it’s at least partly a holdover from when Taz Muir was conceiving of the book as YA, but even seeing Harrow naked didn’t awaken anything in her. We don’t see her dwell on it or have to stifle new sexual thoughts about her necro.

There are a couple of times where she apparently gets turned on looking at Coronabeth, but she doesn’t give us specifics. We just know that Corona is appealing in some way that Gideon finds nebulously arousing. Compared to Harrow, who we know wants to have sex with the target of her affection as seen when she actually tries to initiate it with the Body, Gideon comes across as horny but not sexually attracted to the women around her.

A very sex-favorable ace, mind you. I think she would enjoy and seek out sex. Just... It doesn’t always feel like she’s sexually attracted to the women she wants to be with.
