Conlang showcase, Zaíjnjān

Zaíjnjān is a language in the Zéjăn-heysü language family. It is spoken by the people in the northeast of the continent heysülan, primarily by those in the country of ŷnfaijn. The language is an analytic, tonal language with SVO word order. It uses an alphabet with a CCVCC syllable structure, a 5 tone system, and strict phonotactic consonant cluster restrictions based on sonority and nasal positioning. Zaíjnjān’s a zero marking language, it has no tenses but a somewhat absurd amount of grammatical aspects. The language has primarily Nominative/Accusative alignment, but uses split ergativity for an active stative distinction in verbs. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc beat Red Bull's Sergio Perez to second place in the drivers' championship by three points Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto admits that he has had a "difficult" season in 2022. Charles Leclerc clinched second in the championship at the final race of the season as Ferrari secured the same position in the constructors' table. But the team has been criticised for errors and reliability problems that torpedoed Leclerc's title campaign. "It has certainly been a difficult one because criticism is never easy to be managed," Binotto said. "More than that, for me trying to keep the team focused and concentrated on the job. "The criticisms are there to distract the team. And keeping a team focused is never easy. "It has been difficult, but that will make me only stronger in the future. We need to count only on ourselves and that is the most important lesson of the season." Carlos Sainz pipped Lewis Hamilton to fifth place in the drivers' championship thanks to the Mercedes' driver's retirement in Abu Dhabi Binotto is widely expected within F1 to be replaced as Ferrari team principal in the coming weeks. Several sources have said that reports in the Italian media last week that Binotto will be replaced by current Alfa Romeo team boss Frederic Vasseur are accurate. But Binotto says he is "relaxed" about his future after talks with chairman John Elkann, and he told BBC Sport in Abu Dhabi that he would be "very, very surprised" if he was removed from his role. Leclerc fought off a challenge from Red Bull's Sergio Perez for second in the championship after the two went into the race tied on points. Ferrari's decision to go for a one pit-stop strategy compared to the two of Perez paid off and Leclerc crossed the line 1.3 seconds ahead of the Mexican, who had been closing in during the final phase of the race. Overall, though, it has been a difficult year for the Ferrari strategists, who cost Leclerc potential wins with errors in Monaco, Silverstone and Hungary. Engine failures in Spain and Azerbaijan also derailed a championship campaign that began with Leclerc taking a 46-point lead over eventual champion Max Verstappen after just three races. But Binotto tried to put a positive gloss on the year. "What was important for us was to be back being competitive and that was the objective," he said. "And fighting for a good position at the 22nd race is the best result because it means we have not been competitive only at the very start when we had a very strong car and no-one would have expected it, but we kept on fighting up to the end. "We had some ups and downs. There are many races where we have not been good enough and we will review it. But more than P2 - and this is important - it is that at the 22nd race we are still fighting for positions at the final race." He added: "Our ups and downs came from different areas. Reliability I would put as a top priority because to win you need to be reliable and it has not been the case. "The second is the speed of the car, because while we have been very competitive in qualifying, it has not always been the case in the race." He said he would review how Ferrari approached in-season development, after starting the year with a car that was as quick as the Red Bull only to inexorably fall off the pace. "In terms of development, Red Bull had a clear plan which was reducing the weight of the car which was not our case and they knew what to tackle to get performance out of the car," Binotto said. "For us it was more complicated because it was more through aerodynamic development and trying to improve the car, the concept and the aero. "If I look back, the development we did was not sufficient. We stopped very early because of expenditure reasons and that is something we need to review. "Have we made the right choice by stopping so early in terms of priority between 2022 and 2023? First Look: The Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition

The new Vantage F1 Edition is a new breed of Aston Martin. One that celebrates the marques return to Formula 1 for the first time in over 60 years and establishes the Vantage as a true sports car.

A core production offering, the new Vantage F1 Edition sits at the top of the Vantage model line. Motivated by an exciting return to Formula 1 and as a direct result of the engineering that went into the development of the Vantage as an Official Safety Car of Formula 1, which makes its debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix this week, the Vantage F1 Edition is the ultimate expression of performance & dynamism; it is the fastest of the already sporting Vantage .

Not only is it the most powerful, but the Vantage F1 Edition benefits from unique and significant chassis and aerodynamic improvements developed by Aston Martin’s hugely experienced engineering team. While the luxury brand’s Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One team was busy preparing a return to the grid, the engineering team behind the infamous road cars were too, creating the ultimate Aston Martin Vantage which could take on the role of an Official Safety Car of Formula 1. Set to work by Chief Executive Officer, Tobias Moers, the task was to develop significant performance enhancements, driven by improved lap time performance in order to successfully carry out its role on the F1 track, but without compromising its on-road capabilities. Notably, it would do so without the fitment of aggressively track-optimized tires. Following the success of these enhancements, Moers instructed the integration of these into the production car, ultimately developing the new Vantage F1 Edition. The most sporting Vantage in the production range and in essence, a replica of the Vantage Official Safety Car of Formula 1. An exciting proposition for Aston Martin customers.

The engineering team targeted intelligent, incremental improvements across multiple areas of the Vantage F1 Edition’s auto-only powertrain, chassis and aerodynamics to bring out more character, increase tactility and expand its outright capabilities.

Starting with the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, power is up by 25PS to a new maximum of 535PS. Peak torque remains unchanged at 685Nm, but that peak is sustained for longer to further increase tractability and in-gear urgency. This relentless, muscular performance has been further enhanced by work to the 8-speed automatic transmission, with an optimized torque cut during upshifts that reduces shift times and increases the feeling of directness and precision. This torque management also enhances the driver’s sense of control and connection during downshifts specifically under heavy braking and allows for finer control when the driver is balancing the car at its limit of traction. While noticeable in all circumstances and conditions, these improvements are especially beneficial when driving on track.

Moving to the chassis, the team’s focus centered on the suspension and steering, with further detailed underbody modifications to increase front structural stiffness for a further improvement in steering feel and response. Reworked damper internals have increased the dampers’ effective force range. This increase in bandwidth brings a noticeable improvement in vertical body control - both through high speed compressions and over crests - without any deterioration in low-speed compliance.

To compliment changes to the dampers, the chassis also benefits from increased rear spring rate and lateral stiffness to help sharpen turn-in, increase traction (especially over bumps) and ensure the rear-end is tuned to compliment the front-end’s rate of response. Further improvements to response and - crucially - to what the driver feels have been made to the steering system, allowing feedback from the road to be transmitted more clearly, which in turn helps build a detailed sense of available grip.

With the chassis hardware optimized, attention turned to the wheels and tires, increasing from 20” on the regular Vantage to 21” as standard for the Vantage F1 Edition. Developed specifically for the F1 Edition with Pirelli, it is the first time Vantage has been fitted with 21” tires. Much like the other dynamic changes, the switch to a lower profile tire provides greater feedback to the driver to ensure progressive on-limit handling to give maximum confidence in even the most extreme track driving scenarios.

Completing the Vantage F1 Edition’s performance enhancements is a comprehensive aero kit, bringing improvements that can be felt from the driver’s seat and measured against the clock. Designed to deliver positive front and rear downforce, totaling 200kg more downforce than Vantage at top speed - as well as optimizing the overall balance of the car, the aerodynamic changes comprise a full-width front splitter, front dive planes, underbody turning vanes, and - most obviously - the new rear wing. The rear diffuser remains unchanged but is still a core feature in the delivery of the aerodynamic performance working in tandem with the new aerodynamic features

The Vantage F1 Edition expresses its intensified performance with limited, yet distinctive color palettes and trim options, including one that celebrates Aston Martin’s return to Formula 1® with an Aston Martin Racing Green color scheme, mimicking that of the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team car, as well as the Official Safety Car of Formula 1. Exterior paint colors are available in both a Satin or Gloss finish, and other color options include Jet Black and Lunar White, all of which are complimented by a Solid Matte Dark Grey racing graphic. Inside the Vantage F1 Edition features new Obsidian Black Leather and Phantom Grey Alcantara upholstery and trim, with a choice of Lime Green, Obsidian Black, Wolf Grey or Spicy Red contrast stripe and stitching.

The Vantage F1 Edition - available as Coupe and Roadster - is further distinguished by its vaned grille as standard, 2x2 Twill Carbon Fiber exterior detailing, unique graphics, quad exhausts and a new design of Satin Black Diamond Turned 21” alloy wheel.

The new Vantage F1 Edition is on sale now with a recommended retail price from £142,000 in the UK and €162,000 in Germany with deliveries scheduled to begin in May 2021.
