2015 BTS LIVE HYYH ON STAGE DVD

This package was released on 160223 and covers the concerts performances filmed from 151127 to 160323. This DVD package covers just the Seoul concerts I believe, which were the first 3, 151127 - 151129. There are 3 DVDs included in this package. The first 2 DVDs cover the actual concert in full from 151129, the last day in Seoul. The other 5 performances were in Japan. The 2nd DVD also includes a talk about ‘花樣年華’ (HYYH) and the full VCR Interview. Disc 3 includes Prologue and VCR making film, the Rehersals and practice making films and the concert making film. (346 minutes in total from all 3 DVDs.)

HYYH On Stage Concert

Yoongi, Jin and Jungkook had the best hellos 🥰 Yoongi forever just holding his hand up and encouraging screaming and cheers, it's iconic. Jins worldwide handsome gimic that is the truest thing ever and JK with the "no matter how old you are, I'll always be your maknae" 😭 I love that they all just vibed out and hyped each other up for No More Dream and N.O. but also still the did the ending choreo for NO, because Jimins acrobatics are just so freaking cool. And this VCR is adorable. I can't wait to see the making film, but it's giving me the basketball yoongi content I always crave for real.

Everyone talks about orange hair Jimin and Mint Yoongi during these concerts, but Pink hair Joon and Taes green highlights need infinitely more love! I'll again mostly focus on some of my favorite cute interactions they have during these concert, but omg they are SUCH stage commanders. Those live vocals 😍 for anyone who hasn't seen the full concert included in this DVD and wants to, I found it for yall on daily motion. I love that they performed Converse High too in this concert, but with only Hope, Joon and Jin. They were so cute together and Jin SHINED! Jimin talking to Armys at the start of Miss Right and Tae just hanging out behind him making "he is crazy" faces 🤣 Joon singing his verse to Tae who is just giggling like crazy and dancing with him. They are sooo cute. Jimin hyping up both Yoongi and Hobi during their verses 🥺 I love listening to ARMY sing in these concerts too. It's so special. Jin saying that Miss Right reminds him of gazing lovingly at Jhope and asking him to do aeygo. LOL OKAY 2seok, flirt right in front of us all thank you.

I just noticed Jin is wearing a shirt that says "lost in lust" 😅 Jimin following Joon around during his entire verse is so cute. Lol and then he is just walking around in between the floors with his jacket only on one arm 🤣 everyone dances so cute and gets so hype with this song. I love it! JK playing fake instruments on his mic around Suga as he raps hyping him up! Yoongi running across the stage in order to hype Hobi up properly as he raps during Boyz with Fun. And the ever present what choreo is Tae doing this time when they preform this song! I love his vocals this song so much too. I will never understand War of Hormone hate. It's a whole bop. JK and Jin sound like angels, Vmin growl the whole time, Jimins high notes. The grit and cadence the rap line bring. JK lifting Suga effortlessly everytime, The fun dance. I'll always love this song, don't even care lol

NamGi starting moving on rapping together "AYO SUGA" one of my favorite parts of the song, can't lie. And the way Tae watched Hope do his verse so sweetly, mouthing along to all the words too 🥺 and then going on to perform Run for the very first time and the first time to show ARMYs the song as well. They showed MV highlights and what a special experience that had to have been, to see/hear the song first at their concert. The screams everytime they pushed their jackets down off their shoulders in the choreo 😅🤣

Yoongi skipping his verse in I Need U and taking his earpiece out to listen to ARMY sing it for him. 🥺 Jikook honey vocals in I Need U 🥰 3J dance center in I Need U too, they are so cool. I love this performance so much. Joon is bias wrecking me hard too this concert! All the backup dancers getting hugs after the bow. Hopekook hearts on the raised platform, YoonJin posing for fans to take photos on the other platform. Vmin piggyback rides while saying goodbye to army. Namjoon blowing so many kisses 🥺🥺

Minimoni moments in Boy in Luv always so cute. Also I think this is the first time I am realizing that Jimin is down on all 4s for Hobi to step on to jump over everyone for his verse. Lol and these little interviews before the encore. Omg. Jimin talking about wanting to be the best swordsman in the world and then eventually a singer. Yoongi wanted to be a fireman before music. Jin wanting to be an inspiring actor and singers were his idols. Hope wanted to be a tennis player before dancing and than music, which fits him better. Tae's dream was to be a dad like his own, who was his hero 🥺. RM wanted to be a successful businessman like his dad at first before music. JK wanted to be a pro gamer and provid for his parents before wanting to be a singer after watching G-Dragon. They are all so cute.

Nevermind is one of my favorite songs, I absolutely loved they performed this as the opener to their encore 😭 Rapline during Ma City, the follow up of these songs back to back. UGH 😭 vocal line during the chorus, having a blast and just ugh. JKs Ad libs this whole concert, boy calm down!! They just have so much fun during this song for real! I love that they take the time to shout out each live band player too. Tae saying Suga hyung is so cool for his Nevermind song and asking if they should pat his behind and Yoongi bending over for Tae to pat his butt 😭😂🤣 please

I could listen to these guys all day honestly. It's amazing hearing them talk about their hopes, dreams, thought etc back in 2015 too. Ill just link the whole thing with eng subs for you guys here though too, because you should all see it

The clips from the concert were so short and condensed from what their answers really were. I'm glad they shared these interviews in full too. They are all so self aware as people.

Talk About ‘花樣年華’ (HYYH):

It starts with their ending mentions for the concerts from Day 1. They are all so touching. Jimin goes first and JK goes right after him teasing him with a high pitched voice how JM had asked ARMYs "did you like it?" 🤣 why are they always like this? Yoongi teasing Tae that his mentions sounded like a growing up story and that it was touching. Lol "I want to go up high with you ARMY, so high no one else can reach." Yoongi 😭 who's gonna tell him? Which is followed of course by yoonmin/vmin bickering over who gives better speeches and Yoongi calling vmin babies lol. Jin bridging the gap and giving a beautiful speech about how hyyh can last forever 😭 Hobi talking about how through everything, ARMY is his motivation. Joon complimenting Hobi on being the best at aeygo is so cute. Namjoon taking the first part of his speech to single out Tae and JK to give them thanks for their part in helping create Run. That for the B part of the song after the rap verses, they used a melody made by Tae and put JKs lyrics over it and how it made the song perfect 😭 they looked so touched! He talked about how HYYH can be their youth, or a period where something big happens, but it's just living and accepting the beauty in life at the moment. And then he just continues on with this and Namjoon is the most inspiring person on the planet, I swear. Just for the rest of the members to tease him about making their speeches look bad while praising him too. 😂

Day 3, Tae starting off saying that ARMY and BTS are growing together. Yoongi saying that we are climbing a mountain together, and ARMY is not pushing them from behind, but rather they are climbing the mountain together holding hands, and that they think about ARMY every day. He is so sweet. Jin looking for his parents in the crowd and them standing to wave to him. Omg precious. Jin crying talking about how now, thanks to army, he can be a son to make his mom proud. And now IM CRYING. JK being so cute and sweet about continuing to work hard and being grateful to ARMY. Jimin talking about how his friends came and teasing them. Jimin saying that he thinks HYYH means living life with no regrets and he hopes ARMY won't regret anything and how performing in Korea is always extra special for them. Jhope saying thank you for being the most beautiful moment in his life 🥺 Namjoon ending us off with more beautiful words, talking about society blames younger generations often and it's easy to get discouraged. That everyone, no matter what can have hard times and troubles, just different kinds of troubles. And yes frustrations over that is how he started the HYYH album. How it's supposed to be a message of comfort to everyone. He is comfort.

Namjoon started Day 2 ending mentions with the teasing high pitched "did you like it?" questions from jikook the first day. Lol Jimin is comfort personified. And JK telling Jimin his mentions were really nice 🥺 "since our debut, I think every moment is a beautiful moment" JK 💜 Tae is going to make my vmin heart cry. "There is someone who made this the most beautiful moment. The first is ARMY fans. The second is when I had rough times, people who worried about me, Jimin and the friends" 🥺🥺 and the crowd chanting Jimins name! Lol and Tae saying his family came to the concert today and he wanted to make his dad cry 😂 Yoongi saying that his parents really wanting him to mention them and then telling them he loves them. Lol cute. Jin sharing that youth meant to be enjoyed in the moment and sharing his dad's advice. 🥺 Hobi saying that the stage is where he belongs (yes) and then crying when talking about seeing his family in the crowd and feeling like they can be proud of him 😭😭 someone give him a hug! "We all have the galaxy in our hearts" Namjoon is THE poet, telling us to find our own galaxy. His family is there too. I love him so much. JK afterwards calling out to his parents that he loves them. Jimin then taking another minute to call out to his little brother and say he hopes he was listening to what RM just said, please 😭😂

And that's going to end Part 1 of this post. I'll finish up this DVD with Disc 3 on part 2! They are such natural performers for real. I love every single stage they've ever given us. The talent is always there. Thanks for letting me share!

❀ hinata :-

i wish the childhood best friends trope a very good evening.

no one’s better than hinata at making friends, even if you met after he spiked a ball into your face. you’re childhood best friends too !! so imagine being a child and having to pick up this goofball by the scruff, who has the audacity to ask you to play with him after giving you a scratched up forehead and teary eyes from a ball to the face. but, like, you were the one who said yes so it’s on you :-)

sometimes you bicker but it’s ok bc he would literally go to the ends of the earth for you if you asked. no kidding. he hates sitting still anyway so he’ll just gravitate towards where you are like you’re the sun. also gets you taiyaki in the evenings but climbs in through your window instead of using the front door like a normal person. (he has too much energy </3) if you hear someone yelling your name outside your window and ranting about volleyball games, you know who it is.

ok when he makes you mad with his bullheadedness, you'll be complaining with kageyama (who agrees vehemently) and hinata gets pissy bc you get along a little too well when you're throwing insults about him. (he's not jealous, no, of course not.) but.. how long can you stay mad at this sunshine child anyway?? you'll be pretending you never got mad at all within a few hours and go back to joking around.

he gets distracted if you're watching a match sometimes (bokuto somehow got it into his head that he needs to show off in front of you) so you got banned from watching. he overcomes it later on so you can cheer him on in his jersey too <3

gives you ALL his attention when you talk or even complain about your life. he reacts a lot to whatever you have to say so you have to pretend there aren’t people behind you glaring at hinata for having the same decibel sound level as a jet engine.

you have matching keychains you bought at a local fair !!! (you got a pochacco one for hinata but it’s super worn out by now so he keeps it in his wallet instead.)

he has not won a single multiplayer video game against you (*cough cough* mario kart *cough*) and you don’t even have to be good at it. if you call him a loser, he’ll lose even harder. gets unnecessarily mad at just dance and you have to calm him down.

... you’ve probably kissed bc the two of you (mostly him) were too eager for a first kiss and you got fed up with his pubescent ramblings and ended up kissing him. and then had an early mid-life crisis bc you guys are definitely just friends. (unless.. unless he doesn’t think that way.. surprise surprise 😳) also he's.. kind of bad for make out practice... it’s like kissing a month old puppy.. sorry :/. if you happen to make a lot of offhand comments and tease him about his kissing skills, he WILL turn tomato red and argue in gibberish. only do that in private bc the rest of the world thinks you’re sickeningly cute together >:(

overall, your best friend is a ball of sunshine (who occasionally pisses you off) and your #1 motivation to get out of bed. it's mostly bc he's somehow there to get you out of bed though you've repeatedly told him to not climb in through your window. at least the sun is smiling upon you every day <3

❀ sugawara :-

being best friends with him is such a secure relation !!

he’s your soft place to fall but also would provide gentle (not so gentle) reminders for your wellbeing (STUDY!!! WATER!!!! BREAKFAST!!). doesn’t get mad when you say you skipped breakfast but gives you this look of disappointment which is 100x more effective. still gets a granola bar for you though. also he literally carries bandaids for u and he’s been doing that since second grade bc you fell off the swing ONCE. you know, just in case. if you’re an accident-prone hazard to society, you’re in luck.

BEST HUGS especially if you had a rough day and want to sob into his shoulder. if u damage his $85 hoodie tho, he will make u do his laundry and also buy snacks for him. but like he is so soft (his skin is SUPER soft bc he actually follows a skincare routine now) and cuddly like a teddy bear, it's a small price to pay for salvation.

he will hype you up for anything you do !!!! new outfit? offers to be your personal photographer. scored an A+? will treat u to your fav ice-cream. new job? will tell everyone just how proud he is.

ALWAYS shares the last bite with you and smiles to himself when you eat it so contented. also!!! hanging out at cafes and taking cute pictures is a must <3 even though you’re not dating, you’ll have photos together that make you look a real couple which ensue teasing from daichi and asahi and admiration/jealousy from noya and tanaka. also he gets weirdly protective of you around the team (i’m looking at the moron quartet) and you have to pull the “koushi you’re not my mom” card. it really strikes a chord with him when you say that out loud.

will egg your ex's house with you if you say the word. somehow gets more pissed than you at your ex (if they're a shitty one). it's kind of scary when he's mad too so.... good luck calming him down. he's also really good at sarcastic trash talk so if you happen to meet your ex on the street... send prayers for their self-esteem.

you don't really fight often but if you happen to disagree, he'll go about it in a pretty mature way and talk it out. if you pick a fight on purpose, he'll catch on to it and either tickle you (excessively) or flick your forehead as punishment for trying to rile him up. it’s impossible to prank him!!!!! it’s like he’s got a sixth sense or something so you might as well give up on anything of the sort.

you said you want to get a dog (or cat) with him in the near future and he somehow equated that to having children. turned bright red and started saying it’s too soon to be thinking of that while you had daichi stop you from smacking some sense into your overly imaginative best friend. (i mean, you do need to live together if you want to raise a pet sooo)

his lockscreen is a picture of the two of you so a lot of people who try to hit on him take the hint quick. he says it’s unintentional but you know he can be terribly scheming at times. if you say something like “why don’t you date me for real, coward” he will malfunction and not be able to look you in the eye. (“don’t joke around, y/n” “what if i’m not” “it kind of feels illegal to date you” “what do you mean?!💢”)

anyway you are one lucky mf if you have sugawara koushi as your best friend even if there are both ups and downs (mostly ups). having someone care for you so blatantly certainly makes the question of romance arise but you’re content with the most loving best friend ever.

❀ bokuto :-

you guys are the “two best friends in a room, we might kiss” “yes we will” “what” type of best friends PLS

it doesn’t matter what stage of life you met him, it’ll feel like you’ve been best friends since the beginning of time.

it’s just so easy to make friends with this airhead and by god’s gift, you cannot physically get annoyed at this man. sometimes his friends will complain about him being forgetful or blunt but you’re just there like. yeah. that’s bokuto. love him for it. (you seem to have a lot of patience.)

he probably gets into trouble with authority unwittingly, so save your weekends to sweet talk his way out after accidentally implying the coach has a weak mindset. afterwards, you go get ice cream or something and hang out at the dog park to forget it happened. (the amount of second hand embarrassment bokuto has given you though... you need some hard drugs to forget all of it.)

you probably make a lot of friends through him in high school/college but at the end of the day, it’s just you and him and sometimes akaashi making sure you guys are alive. if you guys are alone together on a friday night, you’ll still be having fun!! very often, it takes shape as karaoke :-) bokuto thinks he’s really great at rapping for some reason (he’s not) so cue you screaming the lyrics in an attempt to ruin your part of the song equally. also he always sets the key wrong??? although you sing the same songs each time?? sometimes he picks a song neither of you have ever heard and the both of you try to guess the melody. he’s terrible at it but at least he’s funny. there’s not a single song he hasn’t had a voice crack in.

if you go clubbing/partying with him, get prepared to be introduced as the friend of “the guy who did four keg stands in a row before proceeding to do a cartwheel unprompted and somehow not throw up”. is on first name basis with the bartenders/hosts and gets you free drinks. also gets hit on often but is oblivious unless they’re being very straightforward. if he’s not into them... you have to pull the s/o card and save his ass. oh also he barks at anyone that gets near your drink.

will always exaggerate when introducing you to new people. “y/n and i met when i saved them from drowning a terrible death.” “it was the children’s pool and you were the one that was screaming.” “and then y/n didn’t really thank me but it’s not like heroes need thanks to do the right thing.” “kou, i will push you into a pool right now, let’s see how well you swim.” (he learned swimming to impress you so joke’s on you.)

he likes to watch you do stuff at the end of the day, so if you see him go o_o at you doing homework, you can just put your earphones on and focus on your work. even if he’s making.. a strangely.. adorable expression. also LOVES to listen to you talk about your day when he’s tired, he says it helps him sleep better (so expect a lot of nighttime calls). moreover, if you say you had a bad dream, he’ll comfort you with his ridiculously confident tone of voice (unless the dream was about something bad happening to him, then he’ll freak out and you’ll have to comfort him instead </3)

ok one thing that’s annoying about him is that he probably leaves food crumbs over your stuff like laptop, bed sheet, etc. you clean it up but bokuto.. is a bit... distracted to notice the mess he’s making. it’s usually pretty difficult to get him to be more aware, but like your glare is enough to make him at least try to be careful from the next time. (either that or he’s become sensitive to your change in mood/emotions bc you know... you’re best friends after all.)

i’m not gonna lie, he probably catches feelings for you at some point. he wants to, like, keep it lowkey bc akaashi told him to take your feelings into consideration too but?? it’s so hard?? you’re literally so pretty?? everything you say is like music to him??? he reacts reflexively to all the firecracker feelings u give him. he probably says he likes you all the time but you dismiss it with “as a friend right :-)”. there’s no climbing up from that one, sorry bokuto.

to summarize, if a moody golden retriever was your human best friend.exe

❀ miya twins :-

they feel like a set. it would be strange to have one of the twins as a bff and not have the other one around whoops 🤷‍♀️

either you and osamu bully atsumu in your free time, or you and atsumu annoy osamu for fun (or both) <3. it’s always a good idea to team up with osamu and prank atsumu for fun btw. (put wasabi in his breakfast pancakes and you’ll get a very pissed off but weirdly cute tsumtsum. you can blame it on osamu if you don’t want to face his wrath.) your alternative is to embarrass osamu in front of strangers with atsumu, have fun with that. (second hand embarrassment also works.)

when you were younger, you pretended to not be able to distinguish the twins bc it would visibly rile atsumu up and then you’d go “ok you’re atsumu”... which would further rile him up. osamu got used to your shenanigans though it ticked him off the first time too LOL. call them the wrong name on purpose and they’ll start a riot; be careful when you’re playing with fire pls.

you guys played a lot of knight and prince/princess/royal when you were a kid and atsumu would always try to make osamu the evil dragon holding you captive. in the end, you were somehow the knight, osamu the prince to be rescued and atsumu the big, bad dragon. (it’s kind of funny in hindsight. your parents have photographs of the three of you fighting like no tomorrow.) also speaking of which, your parents are also friends and have bets on which twin you’ll marry (or if you will at all). it’s tearing your parents’ friendship apart.

these two have DEFINITELY fought over whose jersey number you’re going to wear to the games ( “oi, ‘samu, stop brainwashing my best friend into wearing your stupid double digit number” “you know i’m the best friend, ‘tsumu. they clearly like me better over yer ratty ass.” “what did ya say?!?!? if anything, you’re the one that looks like ratatouille.”) you wore kita's jersey number to games.

imagine sunday picnics with the boys !!! by that, i specifically mean osamu and his perfect bento boxes <3 sometimes the two of you will cook together before your outings while a sulking atsumu stands outside bc you didn’t let him. (let him in, you monsters.) he says he can cook too but the last time the twins’ bickering almost burnt the whole kitchen down. the picnics continue well into adulthood and you get to diss your boss to the twins who will always support your rants. (sometimes atsumu will tell you it’s your fault but you can smack him off. we only need supportive besties here 🙄)

if someone hurts u.... they’re going to need divine intervention to be safe... you have two well-built, physically adept best friends ready to beat the shit out of anyone who deliberately breaks ur heart.

when the twins get into a physical fight...... oh boy. it kinda pisses you off that they’re spewing profanity at each other and you’re the one getting glares. but at the same time, you don’t really want to step into a fight that has nothing to do with you. people should solve their interpersonal issues on their own. they have never fought over you, this isn’t twilight <3

but the question did come up once on which twin you like better; it’s not something to seriously fight over though. if you chose osamu, atsumu will complain for six days straight and you’ll start to regret ever answering the question. if you say atsumu, osamu won’t feed you his onigiri anymore for a few days which is just as bad. the safest choice is to say neither bc it will both be funny and you won’t suffer too many consequences. if you say you love the both of them for being your best friends all this time and go all mushy, there’s a slight chance they’ll go soft too. god help you from the bone crushing hug you’re about to receive 🙏

you make sure to not miss any of atsumu’s official games !! sometimes he’ll wave at you and make the reporters give you hell bc he’s a little shit. just push osamu to them and run away if it gets that bad. (he gets free advertising for his shop, he should be grateful.)

osamu is super good at cheering you up!!! whether it’s with food or with pleasant talk, you’ll be feeling much better with a full stomach and a calmer state of mind. as for atsumu, he’s really good at you cheering you up by distracting you. he’ll talk about his team or this new serve he learnt and the world will seem a lot brighter bc he seems so happy about it. whichever twin you go to, it’s win-win.

in return, the twins take up a good chunk of your time. sometimes atsumu will crash at your place after a game though you’ve told him to not lead the damn reporters here. osamu makes you taste test his experimental onigiri... which are not always good..... no seriously, why’d he put honey and tuna in there ?? but still, your life is ridiculously colorful with them around.

anyway, what can i say except what’s better than one best friend?? two best friends !!!

okay so idk if you watched/are planning on watching falcon and winter soldier but i watched the first episode the other day and they were speaking french (just a few seconds) and I UNDERSTOOD SOME WORDS DLDJDJ and i was so proud of myself. i‘ve only ever learned french with duolingo lol (i only do like 5 mins a day and that‘s why i was so surprised that i understood some of it!!). and yeah apart from latin i feel like italian, german, french and english are all similar in a sense.. i mean obviously they‘re completely different languages but for example there are some grammatical constructions in french that i think i wouldn‘t understand if i only spoke english? so when i translate those things into english you can‘t directly translate them bc you say things differently, but when i translate them into german then it makes more sense to me. idk that‘s something i noticed so i feel like if you already know multiple languages it‘s easier to learn another language compared to if you only know one language and are trying to learn a second one. even if the languages aren‘t similar then i think you get the hang of it easier.

ikd slsjsjs also i don‘t want you to think that i‘m a linguistic genius or anything lmfao, like i‘m only fluent in english and german and i‘m just a wannabe (ew that word) polyglot sksj (yes i had to google polyglot— i do think learning ancient greek would be super cool tho? like imagine studying latin AND ancient greek, whew). and honestly i don‘t think i‘ll ever be fluent in another language bc i don‘t plan on living anywhere other than germany or possibly england and i‘m not dedicated enough to properly learn any other languages esp if i don‘t have anyone to speak the language with. but i still try my best and i just love language/languages as a whole so yeah i‘m happy & just learning as much as i can dkdjh🥰

a one-day idol matchmaking reality show. in which, you both write amusement park as your ideal date and end up on a date together. he is so hyper and goofy, you were smiling and laughing at all times. your challenges included wearing couple headbands, sharing cotton candy and taking rides together. and you enjoyed all of that. he made everything a hundred times more hilarious. sometimes, yall run into his fans who ask him if he’s on a date. he was told to explain the situation to anyone who asks to avoid any rumors but he ends up saying ‘yes’ every time anyway. “I know this is a just one-day show but...I really want to hang out with you again”

you are both cameos in a short webdrama. yall meet for the first time on the script reading day, already hitting it off really well because of how nice and friendly he is. even when on set, yall play your parts as a high-school couple so naturally everyone though yall had something going on between you. sometimes he calls your name instead of your character’s name, adding to teh suspicion. he was so sweet and caring, making sure you’re not nervous or helping you with the lines. . when the show airs, you’re shipped even more than the main characters. even during your individual schedules, fans would mention the others’ name or your ship name, to which he would always smile widely. “Acting with you feels soooo real...I absolutely love it”

Zhong Chenle:

yall meet at a game show for non-korean idols. and because you stand next to each other, naturally, you always turn to each other when you need to ask about a korean word or a term yall didn’t understand. later on, you team up together, partially because of the convenience. but you find out he’s a really nice and chill person so you enjoy it sooo so much you end up talking to each other, barely paying any attention to the other idols. so at the end, yall didn’t only learn new korean things but also got each other’s numbers. “Wow, learning Korean could have been so much fun if it had been with you”

Park Jisung:

yall had a dance performance collab together. it was you, him and the choreographer together in the practice room, but then the choreographer had to leave, asking you to go through the routine in the meantime. there was this part that you couldn’t get. so you hesitantly ask if he could show you how to do it and he does so very enthusiastically. even guiding your moves while watching you through the mirror. looking so proud once you got it. when yall both accidentally bumped into each other in the middle of the dance, yall started to smile and laugh uncontrollably. your choreographer came in in that moment, saying yall looked cute together. “This was the most fun dance practice I ever had.....hope it’s not the last one with you either”

Lateralus - Tool: Tool is on streaming now and they've got a new album out and so it's a very nice time to reinterrogate a band that meant a lot to teenaged me that i have almost completely exorcised from my life since. What's interesting firstly is how much better it is to consume their music digitally than it ever was in any physical format. They apparently resisted making it available for so long for nebulous reasons of artistic control and intention, wanting a say in how their music is listened to - they design these long and overwrought albums to be experienced as a whole. My contention is that as a whole album, start-to-finish, is one of the worst ways to listen to this band. Tool have maybe 12 great songs across four albums and every single album is around 70-80 minutes, pushing the limit of the CD. Which means for every great song there's at least two ambient interludes, Bill Hicks samples, 90s alt comedy bits (Die Eir Von Satan is just menacing music and a menacing voice reading out a weed cookie recipe in german, now that's what I call comedy) that really add nothing to the experience of the album on a casual listen. Being actually able to listen to these songs on their own, and playlist them and pull them apart from the mire is so refreshing and makes experiencing this extremely exhausting band actually pleasant for once. That's not to say ambient interludes and sketches and whatever aren't worth it, I absolutely love that shit and a lot of my favourite albums are absolutely chock full of that sort of thing - just like, don't make me do it every time. Their new album seems to reflect this at least a little bit, with the more overarching themes and arcs of the previous albums replaced by more singular and self-contained long songs interspersed with dedicated 2 minute interlude tracks. The runtime blows out to an hour and a half unrestrained by physical limits but it seems to contain more actual music and less funny than any other Tool album which is a welcome change. I'm still lukewarm on the album itself, it seems to just be a complete rehashing of the ideas on 10,000 Days (to the point of almost note-for-note repetition of some old riffs and themes) which is a bit disappointing considering how long they've apparently been working on it. I'll give it more time because Tool albums always unfold over multiple listens but for now they kind of just sound like the dad-rock version of a once extremely edgy 90s band - which I guess they are now so that makes sense. As for Lateralus, I think it's their best song. The perfect combination of Joe Rogan spirit science woo-woo sacred geometry fibonacci sequence 'open your mind' bullshit and good old fashioned riffs, it's the best of both halves of Tool and great starting point if you've never listened to this band and are interested in becoming insufferable.

Mars For The Rich - King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard: This album is so good and it's finally converted me to being a full time King Gizz guy so look out for a lot more of that in the future. It's a thrash metal concept album about ecological collapse forcing the rich to flee to mars and the poor to flee to venus where they lose their minds and fly into the fire. I spent a little while the other day obsessing over the insane vocal leap in this absolutely incredible song when he jumps down an 11th on 'mars for the riiiiiiich' somehow effortlessly.

Pattern Walks - Cloud Nothings: The interplay between Cloud Nothings second and third albums is something I think about a lot. Attack On Memory is a visceral experience of depression and living in your own head where Here And Nowhere Else is about being able to finally move past it, and living with it. There's a good quote from the singer on the Genius page for this song where he says "It was almost a response to “Wasted Days” on the last record. It ends with “I thought I would be more than this” over and over and this one ends with “I thought” over a beautiful bit of music which is an easy way to explain the way I was thinking when I was writing this record. I wasn’t as depressed as I was when I was making the last album. Before, I felt like nobody liked the band and I was doing it for three years. I was not in a good place. Now, I had more time to think about why I felt that way. It’s a positive song."

M.E. - Metz: Metz put out a B-sides and rarities album a couple of weeks ago and then they put out this Gary Numan cover on it's own for some reason. It's very very good! I love just putting a generally harder edge on it without taking anything away from the spirit of the original. I also, somehow, didn't realise that Where's Your Head At by Basement Jaxx was a Gary Numan sample until I heard this cover so we're all learning every day.

The Ocean And The Sun - The Sound Of Animals Fighting: Here's what's good: having the last third of your song just be a monotone voice reading from a CrimethInc anarchist zine over swirling guitar ambience. The drums are so good in this, Chris Tsagakis makes me want to muscle through the ska and listen to RX Bandits more, he’s just that good. The extremely crunchy part in the chorus especially, it switches through like three different distortions and sounds absolutely great. I’m a big fan of anyone that can make a very straightforward groove like the main one here really work just by absolutely leaning into it.

Uzbekistan - The Sound Of Animals Fighting: Uzbekistan is the most out-there and wild song on this album which was sort of mostly a way back into post-hardcore for TSOAF after Lover, The Lord Has Left Us.. which was perhaps a little too-out there for most. (seven minute closing track of a guy singing John Cage's Experimental Music essay over formless tabla and mandolin). The drums alone in this are worth it. The way they transition in and out of the super distorted electronic parts is so good. This song fortunately also has a section where someone recites poetry over electronic noise and a second voice whispers 'who holds your strings? wake up..." over the top near the end. I will love and defend dum-dum pretentious music until the day I die.

Gangsta - Tune-Yards: I love Tune-Yards and I'm incredibly interested in the way she interrogates whiteness. It's a complicated thing to get into in this playlist post but when she first turned up, a lot of people assumed she was african american just by the sound of her voice and music - it reaches and pulls from a lot of african music in a very postmodern sort of way and when people found out she was white, straight, cis and from New England it kind of felt like a betrayal for some people. On her 2018 album I Can Feel You Creep Into My Private Life she digs into it a lot in a way that becomes almost uncomfortable for what is ostensibly a pop album. An NPR article about it at the time said "Ever the student, the Smith-educated Garbus, who writes most of Tune-Yards' lyrics, designed an anti-racist curriculum for herself. She attended a six-month anti-racist workshop at the East Bay Meditation Center. She read the work of noted anti-racist educator Tim Wise and explored the activism of Standing Up for Racial Justice, a nationwide, progressive activism network dedicated to "moving white people to act as part of a multi-racial majority.". That's a lot. This song, Gangsta, from her 2011 album when all the hype was fresh feels like a pretty early look into the mindset she'd later fully fledge out of interrogating white identity and cultural appropriation while also participating in it. The lyrics are simple but they get to a simple point, "What's a boy to do if he'll never be a rasta?" is basically making the same point as Ras Trent by The Lonely Island except it's asking where else does Ras Trent fit? Can a white guy participate in anything like that in a way that's not cultural appropriation, and how can a culture like that participate in the larger world without being appropriated? It's 2013 tumblr discourse but it's still churning for a reason I suppose.

Ante Up (feat. Busta Rhymes, Teflon & Remi Martin) - M.O.P: An all time great Violence Song, in the same genre as Knuck If Ya Buck and X Gon Give It To Ya. Opening with "'this shit feel like a whole entire world collapsed" is such an insane way to open a song but the absolute whirlwind of threats that follows makes it feel warranted. "Fuck hip-hop, rip pockets, snatch jewels" is sooo good. I don't even care about this song I am just straight up robbing you. The absolute power in the rhythm of the overlapping getemGETEMgetem hitemHITEMhitem part is just so, so strong. It's like a VR experience of being fucking robbed.

Awake (feat. JPEGMAFIA) - Tkay Maidza: It seems like Tkay is finally nailing down her sound and she’s absolutely killing it. She’s been through a few different styles since she started out and now she’s really hit on something that’s very distinctly her with this and her other new song Flexin and I cannot wait for the album.

Big Head - Ms. Jade: Ms Jade had one album in 2002 and then basically disappeared which is a shame because she's got a very interesting approach. The star of the show is as usual, Timbaland. The man is a singular voice somehow making the tabla and a wikiwiki noise his signature sound. I love the drone of the raps interspersed with the vocal spikes and I love the chorus as the gospel vocals surge up from underneath. This whole song is just completely bizzare in its construction in a way that works perfectly and feels strangely.

Titanium 2 Step - Battles: Battles are finally back and I’m fucking bouncing off the walls. They’re a two piece now and it does not seem to have slowed them down at all which is very exciting. I can’t think of any band that has ever continued with only half of their original members and also moved forward radically every time. Everything about this song is great: the super strength drums, the hypercolour guitar and the vocals that are just screaming absolutely whatever you like whenever you like. It feels closest to Ice Cream, and Gloss Drop in general more than La Di Da Di but i’m so excited to see how the new album sounds - and how they adapt their old material live now that there’s only two of them.

Dancing Is The Best Revenge - !!!: I’ve never actively listened to !!! for no good reason, but plenty of times in my life I’ve heard a song playing and been like damn what the FUCK is THIS?! and it always turns out to be !!!. This is yet another example.

Skitzo Dancer (Justice Remix) - Scenario Rock: The first clap in this is one of the best sounds ever. Right after 'so you think you've seen and heard it all' everything drops out of the mix for this one very comedy clap and it makes me smile every time. The rhythm of the Disco!... Disco! Disco! part near the end is one of those things that's just always playing in the back of my mind, which as far as constant reminders go it's not the worst. 16:56 - Danger: Danger had a new album this year that I don't think I gave enough attention to because I relistened and it's very good. He spends the majority of it refining his original sound but it's such a distinct and original niche that it works out great. The songs are so densely layered and frankly just sound so beautiful! Which is a strange thing to say about 80s inspired electro but it just does. The strings and timpani in this about halfway through are just a gift as well, I love it.

Also Sprach Zarathustra - Deodato: As part of my ‘thinking about Elvis’ I was looking up a live album of his called Aloha From Hawaii Via Sattelite which has a very good cover which doubles as an illustration of how my proposed international peacekeeping satellite will function, projecting an immense Elvis themed blanket of darkness over ‘troublemaker’ regions to immerse them in an eternal freezing night until they’ve settled down. Anyway his entrance music for this this concert in Hawaii is Also Sprach Zarathustra, which is a very very funny thing to do and I think gives an appropriate measure of his status at the time. When I told my girlfriend about this she directed me to this bonkers jazz funk version of it by Deodato which deservingly won a grammy in 1974 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.

Hollywood Forever Cemetary Sings - Father John Misty: I’ve resisted listening to Father John Misty for a long time because he just seems like a real asshole. A big brain man genius that saw what Lana Del Rey was doing and thought “what if.. me?”. But I can’t deny this song, it’s absolutely magical and as far as songs about fucking in a cemetery go it’s definitely one of the most singable.

Remember / Medicine Man - Yma Sumac: In reading about the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and who was buried there, I learned about Yma Sumac. Yma Sumac was a Peruvian soprano with one of the most incredible voices I've ever heard who was an absolutely huge deal in the 50s when Americans were clamouring for the exotic, real or imagined. She made extremely good mambo music and claimed to be descended from the last Incan emperor. Her popularity faded after the 50s and then for an unknown reson in 1971, ten years since her last album, she made this rock album. It is insane. It's the best example of 'voice as an instrument' that I've ever heard. She is making every kind of sound possible with a human voice and her range seems completely limitless. She's just as comfortable in a piercingly high whistle register as she is in deep guttural growls. About 2 minutes into Remember she just straight up jumps four octaves in a row just to flex. She also sings in a way in the second verse of Medicine Man that I've never heard before that sounds like she's blowing out her cheeks and then singing with her mouth almost closed. It's absolutey bizzare and I love it so much.

This Thing - King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard: Listening to the other album that King Gizzard put out this year is really making me appreciate how much of 180 Infest The Rats Nest was for them. This album is basically a Black Keys album of groovy fun songs about fishing for fishies with fantastic harmonica work and it makes it look even more like they just snapped when they did the next one.

The Warrior (feat. Patty Smyth) - Scandal: I've been very passively watching GLOW since the second half of season 2 and now I'm very passively watching season 3 and this song was the opening credits theme for the first episode. It fucking rocks I don't know why they don't just make it the theme song all the time. This sort of 80s hard-rock pop is very good when it's good and extremely bad when it's bad and I wonder if we'll ever see any sort of revival of it once 80s nostalgia nostalgia takes hold in 2030. Being a singer named Patty Smyth is very funny also. She's billed as a feature even though she was in the band because she left to try a solo career as soon as it was released, possibly even before. She is also John McEnroe's wife I just found out. What a life.

A Girl Called Johnny - The Waterboys: I found this song because I was googling to see if it's possibly to get a random album from spotify and instead foumd a guy on rateyourmusic who was generating random rym album pages and then listening to whatever came up if it was on spotify - which seems just as good. This was one of the albums he talked about and he seemed to like it so I listened and I did as well. Sometimes the best way to find new music is throw dice on the internet and see what comes up.

New Year's Eve - City Calm Down: The new City Calm Down is one hundred percent great and I have such admiration for them for making a complete left turn with their sound and sounding like a completely different band since their last album but being equally as great in both forms. It's very inspiring and it's also the second song of the month I've heard for the first time while walking around Richmond that's mentioned Richmond. Very spooky.

Cruel Summer - Taylor Swift: It's fucked up how good Lover is when ME! and You Need To Calm Down were so bad. It feels like they changed direction at the last minute and changed the tracklist dramatically because those two songs seem sort of wildly out of place, along with London Boy. It's so uneven it's basically two albums in one but when it's good it's extremely good. This song is fucking powerful. The way she straight up screams "he looks so pretty like a devil"? Amazing. What a crazy thing to shout. Kelly - Van She: I have no idea why but this is in the opening paragraph of Van She's wiki page: "Their label introduced them as a "new band from Sydney fresh on ideas, fresher than Flavor Flav, fresh like coriander, fresher than the Fresh Prince, fresher than fresh eggs."[2] Despite these claims, the band began with a sound very much rooted in the 1980s, heavy on synthesizer." which really makes me laugh. Van She had a very specific mid-2000s indietronica thing going that was really good as this song proves but they also did a bunch of remixes under the name Van She Tech that are very out there and completely different to the main band. Their remix of UFO by Sneaky Sound System I'm sure I've yelled about in these posts before, it's absolutely phenomenal. Anyway I guess what I'm saying is get you a band that can do both.

Shadow - Wild Nothing: Somehow I missed Wild Nothing back when they were a big thing and only listened to them this month. I listened to this whole album while I was doing housework and when it finished I though 'that was nice' and could not remember a single thing about it. That's the beauty of shoegaze! I had to listen to it about five more times for it to stick and now I'm getting more and more out of it every time, I love it.

Heaven's On Fire - The Radio Dept.: Years ago when I was having a major 'depressive episode' for about a fucking year I listened to this album Constantly and as a result for a very long time I couldn't listen to it without inviting megawatts of bad vibes back into my brain. Thankfully through hard work and time passing it appears I've fully healed my assosciations with this album which is fantastic news because it is delightful start to finish and worth getting obsessed with again.

Crystalised - The xx: It's nice to see news articles posted almost every day about which albums are turning ten years old. It makes me feel one million years old and viewing the world from a television in my hermit's cave. It feels hard to overstate just how much quiet influence the xx have had over the music landscape since 2009. Without The xx we don't have Royals and without Royals we don't have You Need To Calm Down, so. Something beautiful of theirs that I think is sad hasn't caught on in the intervening years is the idea of writing romantic duets when duets had been out of fashion for so long. They wrote a whole album of them and continue to! There's a beautiful contextual depth to it, in that it's two queer people singing not exactly to each other but with each other. In an interview they've called it 'singing past each other' which is a very nice way to put it.

Aspirin - Tropical Fuck Storm: I really appreciate the continual development of the guitars in Tropical Fuck Storm where they sound so pencil-necked and reedy in these angular little melodies and then sometimes explode into thick cacophanous howls, but what's especially good is in songs like this when they don't explode and instead just sort of sprout tendrils and crawl around each other. They're really drilling down on a very singular and very unsettling sound and I really love it. It is also a very interesting feeling to be walking around Richmond listening to this album for the first time and having him mention Richmond. Spooky even.

Pasta - Angie McMahon: "My bedroom is a disaster / my dog has got kidney failure" is an all-time great opening lyric for me. I love the way this song kicks up from the doldrums, like forcing yourself to do something just so you've done something today. Angie McMahon is so great and I'm getting more and more out of her album every time.

If I Had A Hammer - Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash: The way this song is performed here is so fucking cool. The guitar tone, June's voice and the general energy of it is just absolutely electric. It feels like Highway 61 Bob Dylan where it's still folk but it's got this massive power in it. The solo fucking rips in that very old fashioned way and when it finishes and that riff comes back in by itself it's just great.

Elvis Presley Blues - Gillian Welch: I was thinking about this song because I too was thinking about Elvis. I thought for a long time that the lyrics to this were ‘didn’t he die?’ and not ‘day that he died’ and I think I prefer mine more. Idly thinking about Elvis like “whatever happened to that guy? Must be old now. Wait, didn't he die? No way to know I suppose.”

Everything Is Free - Sylvan Esso: Rolling Stone had a very good article and interview about how this song about napster has had a resurgence and remained relevant through the streaming era which is a very good read. It's Nice To Have A Friend - Taylor Swift: This is the strangest song on Lover and one of the best, I absolutely love it. It's a very old fashioned kind of Taylor Swift Love Story type song but it also has a a fucking trumpet reveille in the middle, so that really spices it up a bit. I also keep accidentally listening to this backwards - there's a few phrases like when she sings 'it's nice to have a friend' where the 'friend' lands on the offbeat but is accented like it should be ON the beat and because of the way the music is in this where it's just the steady pulse it's hard to tell whether the chime is supposed to be on the beat or on the offbeat. It feels like it sort of slides back and forth throughout the song depending on what everything else is doing around it. I don't know if that's intentional or not but it's a very interesting effect. This song is also, in my estimation, about a woman and is detailing a fantasy Taylor Swift is having where she can come out to the world with no fuss and enjoy a simple fairytale love story as a gay woman.

Psalm 42 / Chant For Pentecost - The Trees Community: I have a mental list of albums I google every few months to see if they've been added to streaming and by the grace of god one of them finally has been. Years ago I used to listen to this almost every night to fall asleep and I think it brainwashed me slightly in a delightful way, and now I finally have it back again! This is proper hippie music: a bunch of long haired new york christians who drove around the country in the early 70s in a school bus playing their elaborate and beautiful music for anyone who wanted to hear it. The multilayered, multi-movement construction of these songs is completely entrancing to me. It's not a hollow beauty, but one that brings new meaning to old words in the way they stretch and snap and waver throughout the song, moving past each other and through each other as it moves forward. I absolutey love it. Chant For Pentecost is a good illustration of the other side of them, a short song that starts sweet and turns almost maniacal. There's a wild-eyed feeling to the harmonies and the way this melody sits on a single tone for such long stretches before the frankly scary conclusion.

In My Father's House / Working On The Building - Elvis Presley: The backing vocals in these, and especially the bass vocals are so incredible. The way they work in the second verse of Working On The Building is so great, Elvis is the lead vocal but the middle harmony and somehow it just works perfectly. The harmonies is In My Father's House are amazing. The bass solo is mind blowing and the part about halfway through where Elvis swallows the mic and says "jesus died upon the cross [VRRMER] sorrow" is very funny. It's got it all.

The Greatest - Lana Del Rey: Norman Fucking Rockwell is an absolute masterpiece and this is the best song on it. Lana has always had a knack for this apocalyptic feeling but this is a whole other level. https://www.stereogum.com/2056565/lana-del-rey-norman-fucking-rockwell-review/franchises/premature-evaluation/ The Stereogum writeup for this album was really great, and really nailed my opinion of her whole character thing as well, but he described this song as her version of that video that Ted Turner commissioned for CNN to play at the end of the world and it's really a perfect description. The part at the end where she says 'Kanye West is blonde and gone' is so chilling to me. Like Kanye losing the plot makes sense because he's only a few months ahead of the rest of us. He’s been a thought and culture leader for so long and it only makes sense that he’s spun off into space in these last days before it all wraps up.

He was really happy to be able to meet you again

He also felt a bit bad because after he debuted he stopped talking to you

it wasn’t his fault tho and you knew it so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ANYWAY

He was SoOO hyped to dance with you

You were his dance partner!!

Just like old times uwu (he has missed you sm okay)

But then the choreographer started to teach the choreo

and omg

THE PROXIMITY

He just looked at the rest of the members, with their arms around the dancer’s waists

And for some reason he was kind of nervous?

Like, his heart was beating a little bit too quick

“Mark is something wrong?” The choreographer asked and he shook his head.

“Everything is okay, let’s GeT It!”

But of course it wasn’t

He kept making mistakes and all because you were too close and he got nervous

“Omg Mark seriously, are you tired or something?” The choreographer asked again and she decided to call it a day.

He was confused

You were his friend!!!

Why did he get nervous? It’s not like he hadn’t danced with you before...

The days passed and Mark kept making the same mistakes.

“Mark you are too static...” You commented

“Yeah Mark, you need yo be closer to your partner.” The choreographer said and he pushed him to you.

“OMG WHY” He thought

He had you in his arms, your chest against his

And you couldn’t help but laugh

“Come on Mark, even if we stopped talking we are still best friends, right? Don’t be so nervous.” You commented

Elyse, you love asking the hardest questions, don't you :") okay.... lemme think 😖 my top 5 for both of these groups changes pretty often; I'm gonna base this off the ones I probably listen to the most!

So let's start with Gfriend! This is not in any particular order btw:

1. Smile

This song is about as cute as you can get! Bit I just can't stop listening to it??? It's so energetic and fun and just full of life! The lyrics are also incredibly positive and sweet. It's pretty different from their title tracks tbh?? Like it's something I think more people would expect from Twice, if anything but it really works for them and I think the song would definitely make you smile too :))))

2. Our Secret

This song is also something pretty different to Gfriend... It's like your typical EDM song and yet... There's something so beautiful and magical about this song? And i think that's where Gfriend comes in. Edm has literally been done to death but I feel like Gfriend's take on it is just... so beautiful? I can't exactly explain it but pls do listen to it if you can!

3. Trust

This is one of their earlier songs but its truly just a masterpiece in my eyes. The song is perfect for winter and the lyricsss!! The lyrics are so heartbreaking and wonderful and ughh I'm saying beautiful again but its typically the first word that comes to my head when describing anything Gfriend! Their vocals really shine here and listening to it now, makes me feel so nostalgic :")

4. White

We're going back to debut! Gfriend! Ughhh this song is just amazing! I think this song really encompasses a lot of the earlier vibes that kpop had! It reminds me a lot of early snsd and that might be why i love it too :") Also the dance!! I love the dance to this one! Honestly, I feel like you might like this one a lot??

5. Flower Garden

Okayyy, sooo I'm doing my best to choose one song from an album here 😂 I think this is also one you'd really like as well... There's something so epic yet melancholy about this song?? I feel like they just really put everything they had into this song; it really shows in the production as well as the live stages! It genuinely sounds like something that could be put in a fantasy movie?? Or is that just me?? Anyways, this song is just a powerful one from the girls and I genuinely think you'd enjoy listening to it a lot!

Nowwww, onto EXO!

1. Don't Go

What can I say about this song? It's magical. Absolutely magical. It's such a beautiful and happy song but i can't help but feel... a little sad when listening to it? Ot12 forever in our hearts It's definitely a nostalgic one and the live stages are so adorable :( I just... i adore this song so much. It has a very special place in my heart.

2. Love Me Right

THEIR BEST TITLE TRACK! NEXT!

3. Gravity

I really can't explain why I love this one so much? This and Sign were the ones I kept on playing non-stop when DMUMT first came out and honestly, I still replay this one almost daily?? It's such a fun song to me and Chanhun's raps!!!! Absolute fire 🔥🔥🔥

4. Lights Out

This is one of my favourite songs to listen to when I'm feeling so down. Also helps that Jongdae wrote this track so that just makes it more... personal ig? It's just such a comforting song to me.. the lyrics are so sweet and gentle and honestly, it reminds me so much of Dae. He has such a warm presence and in winter especially, it's nice to have that warmth surrounding you and that's what this song is to me.

5. Forever

I listened to this whole album repeatedly for practically two years and I overplayed so many of the tracks T-T this one however... its sounds exactly as it did the first time I listened to it. The vocals are otherworldly and ughhh the song itself just feels so epic and gets me so hype :")

rules: list 10 songs you’ve been listening to the most / you’re being obsessed with

ok, first of all, a big thank you to @jongin-be-my-jagi and @kiseokris who both tagged me for doing this or a similar tag game about naming 10 songs. and i’m a little sad i didn’t have the chance to do this earlier but goodness life is stressful right now and i wanted to do this properly - like a recommandation list with links and what i love about the song / what i connect with it - to make myself happy again ... and what could be more effective for making me happy than my favourite music ^^

so here i go, pls enjoy these pieces of my heart, of who i am<3

1. My December - by Linkin Park

Lately one of my most heared songs because I can’t wait for winter to come. To me, it really sounds like December, like having nothing to call home anymore, like regret and sadness and loneliness. I love Linkin Park when they do all the aggressive stuff but this heavy calmness suits them so well to and gives me chills. Also: Rest In Peace, Chester, I’ve thought about you everyday recently.

2. hostage - by Billie Eilish

This song reflects how I think being in this odd state where you know that the other is kinda in love with you too but you’re not a couple yet feels like. It has something hesitant and inexperienced to its sound and the lyrics feel so intimate to me. I can imagine my first relationship feeling like this song. And I love how they play with acoustic and electronic instruments here, the heavy bass really catches me.

3. Lieblingsbeatle - by Sarah Lesch

For all my non-German readers, a little piece of German music. The title means “Favourite Beatle” as in your favourite member of The Beatles. The main part says “You ask for my favourite Beatle and I don’t know what to say. Because you are my favourite Beatle - and your not even in the band!” And I just love this thought: loving somebody so much that they become your favourite member of a group you like when they aren’t even part of the group. It’s so cute and I’m a little salty that I didn’t think of this metaphor myself. xD

4. Sail Away With Me - by Sunrise Avenue

Sunrise Avenue was the first band I really really hyped (I went to three concerts within three years) and this song is a rather unknown one from their second album which was the least popular actually. But I love the lyrics and its meaning and the melody. Listening to it (which I do quite often these days) brings me back to the third and last Sunrise Avenue concert I went to, where they played a best off selection of all their songs with a huge orchestra, back to the moment I realized they were going to play this song even though it's not a popular one. It was just beautiful.

5. You Can’t Rely - by Counterfeit (also: It Gets Better)

This is my absolute favourite song of this group - I can never get enough of it!!! NEVER!!! Really, I love the tension it holds and the raging feeling, a kind of helplessness and also faithlessness. But the special thing about this band is that they are all SUPER positive. I went to their concert this summer and usually punk bands are quite aggressive and full of rage on-stage - like their music is - but they gave off so many positive vibes and contentness, not in a boring way, it was still very energetic, but it was still different than you would imagine after hearing their music. On this concert they also played the second song I linked (I know... it’s about ten songs only... anywayyy...), which has a very beautiful message I want to pass on to you in case you’re feeling down.

6. The Sufferer - by Paradise Lost

I think this song sums up my “bad days/nights” quite well, when I feel insecure and anxious and somehow try to get it down to paper - sometimes I just feel like I could write these exact words. Other than that, it’s a song my Dad showed to me and also the first song by that group I could sing along better than him, who knows this group for ... well, longer than I do, definitely. My Mom laughed at that when she noticed. xD

7. moonchild - by RM

Aaaand here we are in the K-Pop part of this list. I don’t really stan BTS that much, but my sister does and she showed that song to me and I instantly loved it. Again, it’s the message behind it that I love most and, honestly, it sounds just beautiful, everything about it, Namjoon’s rapping, the autotune in the chorus, ... everything is on point here. Also, yeessss Namjoon would be my bias in BTS but I only know them from their English fails (they are so cute xDD) so how would I know (but I think my sister would’ve said Namjoon too if she’d have to choose a bias for me).

8. Heart Attack - by EXO-K and EXO-M

APPRECIATE THE EXO-M VERSION I DIDN’T PUT THE LINK THERE FOR NOTHING, thanks. Now that I made my love for EXO-M clear, I can write about Heart Attack. It was actually one of the first songs by EXO I’ve heard when I was a teeny-tiny Baby EXO-L and I’ve loved it instantly (it has a huge revival recently). As far as I can remember it was the first time for EXO to use hearable autotune which fits the song sooo much. I love the intro and the lyrics and I hate how little lines Kris has in that one. Still, I wish EXO could bring this song back on stage (also Let Out The Beast btw) - I could really imagine it as an acoustic version at this point. Sooo SM employees... if one of you reads this... just an idea........

9. Sing For You - by EXO

I’m never not obsessed with Sing For You. It’s basically in every song tag I ever did, that’s how important this song is to me. I just love the concept of expressing feelings with music, probably because this is what I do all the time. Music is really my language for any emotion at this point. So of course the idea of someone singing for you to tell you what they feel brought tears to my eyes the first time I heard this utterly beautiful song.

10. Nothing Else Matters - by Metallica

And here’s the other song I never stop being obsessed about. I think I said it multiple times already, but I will say it again: This song is the definition of love for me. This is how I expect love to be like, to feel like, to sound like. About the lyrics, they are very intimate and vulnerable, as if somebody opened themselves for someone else with these words. And don’t get me started about the music itself. GOD THIS IS SO GOOD. The amount of beautiful guitar parts is just right, the intro sounds so soft and calm while the music gets heavier and heavier throughout the song. And it’s so amazing how James Hetfield’s voice can do both in one song too. Still, if I ever get married, this song will be the one I to marry to.

Concert Experience

I’m not sure how to exactly.. section off this entire thing by topic so I’mma just jump in and go for it and say whatever I remember. This is going to be hella long because I have a LOT to say about the entire 2 1/2 hour concert lmao.

Here’s a link to the setlist for the concert!

I made a setlist of all the songs that were played! Including the songs that were played during the VCRs! But the only song I didn’t include was Mixtape #2 because that was played during a VCR and also none of the mixtapes are on Spotify lmao.

Ah okay okay before the concert STAYs started chanting “STRAY KIDS EVERYWHERE ALL AROUND THE WORLD” then during the ments, the boys started chanting it back to us and we chanted it to them and ;-; yes. Then we also chanted “WE LOVE YOU! WE LOVE YOU!” and I think it took the boys by surprise a little bit, but then they started chanting it back to us and it felt wonderful :’) being apart of that.

YOU GUYS. I’M SO SMALL. AND THE VENUE HAS SEATS. BUT FOR SOME REASON EVERYONE STARTED TO STAND UP AND ;-; I BARELY SEE BC I’M SO SMALL. I HAD TO STAND ON MY TIPPY TOES AND JUMP A LOT TO SEE PROPERLY. MY CALVES HURT BECAUSE OF ALL THE TIPPY TOEING I DID LMAO. But Chan saw all of us standing and he said “Seeing you guys standing up makes us want to go even harder” and like YES BOY. YES LOL

So I sat in P2. In the Orch R Section (right side of the venue) in row F, so I was also 2 rows away from P1. ;-; But tis okay, ‘tis okay.

During the ments, the lineup goes: Minho Jisung, Jeongin, Felix, Hyunjin, Seungmin, Changbin and Woojin. From right side of the venue to the left side. Changbin and Woojin were standing right in front of my section and OH MY FREAKING GOSH THEY ARE SO ETHERAL. LIKE WOOJIN. MY MAN. YOU A WHOLE MAN. HE’S SO ASLKJGHASKJLG SURREAL LOOKING LIKE I CAN NOT BELIEVE. AND CHANGBIN. HE’S SO SO SO HANDSOME IN REAL LIFE. AND HE’S SO FREAKING BUFF ? IM SO SHOOK I CAN’T BELIEVE IT. BUT HE ALSO LOOKS SO INTIMIDATING ? AND LIKE IDEK. OKAY PLEASE DON’T TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY BUT CHANGBIN IS ˢᵉˣʸ. LIKE IM NOT TRYING TO SOUND THIRSTY, GROSS OR ANYTHING BUT HE JUST HAS THIS WHOLE AURA AND VIBE AROUND HIM THAT SAYS “Yeah, I’m here, I know what I’m doing, the effect that I have on you all, and I own this stage” AND THAT CONFIDENCE. IS VERY ATTRACTIVE. I’ve said this like 20 times lmao but there was a girl sitting 2 rows ahead of me who had a Changbin banner and she would hold it up whenever he looked at us. He saw her banner, waved and smiled to her SO MUCH. PLEASE GET A BANNER FOR A MEMBER STANDING ON YOUR SIDE OF THE STAGE. THEY WILL SEE YOU AND THEY WILL GIVE YOU ATTENTION LIKE I PROMISE YOU. Also he FLIRTED SO MUCH WITH THE FANS. There was one moment where Changbin looked at a fan in the first row and he just gave her this look that was so different idek how to explain it. IT WAS A GOOD LOOK THOUGH. But the girls behind me saw the look he gave her too and said “Oh who was HE lOoKinG AT”.

Stays cheered so so hard for Changbin! Like I’m so happy that they did too because he deserves it! And every time we cheered for him, he would always kind of smile shyly and ugh adorable. Not to say that we didn’t cheer hard for the other members either. We cheered so loudly and so proudly for everyone! But Changbin was just definitely louder and more energetic.

Jisung is my bias and he was on the other side of the stage so I didn’t exactly look over at him that often because I was sort of focused on getting Changbin and Woojin’s attention lmao. There was one moment where he came to my side of the stage during Yayaya and I had to stop jumping, screaming, singing and just look at him and realize “Oh my gosh he’s actually real and here”. He’s so absolutely beautiful my heart flutters every time I think about him. Jisung was also wearing a button up shirt with sleeves that were attached with strings. A few of the strings came undone during the concert because he was going so hard on the performances but it was so cute :)

SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL I LOVE HIM. At first his sleeves were rolled down at the beginning of the concert (I think) but then he rolled them up to his elbows halfway into the show and FRICK. THAT’S MY WEAKNESS. BUTTON UPS ROLLED UP THE ELBOWS AHHHH

Then he changed into his sleeveless hoodie/tank top and HOASGKLJASHG HIS ARMS HIS ARMS HIS ARMS HIS ARMS HIS ARMS

YES M Y BOY. FUCK IT UP. GET THOSE GAINS. HAWK YEA LET’S GO. He’s so BEAUTIFUL.

Anyways moving on. I took so many pictures I wanted a new wallpaper for my phone (because before it was from the BTS concert from September). My wallpaper is a picture of the boys saying goodbye to everyone, and it’s like perfectly placed because all of my apps are on top and the pictures are clearly seen on the bottom with heavenly yellow lights shining down on them :) Then my lockscreen is a live photo of Hyunjin hugging Jisung and ugh beautiful yet again. Fans did the fan chants during the concert! But it was kind of quiet. bUT WE WENT SO HARD DURING VICTORY SONG, MIROH AND YAYAYA! Like those songs were the most hyped up and it was so fun !!

Tbh idek what to say for the concert because it went by in such a blur :( They only had 2 outfit changes during the concert too. But then for the hi touch they changed outfits. They performed a lot of songs back to back and they did it so energetically idek how they do it because I was just standing there singing, and I was already exhausted by the time that My Pace played lmao.

Ah okay okay. Chan made Seungmin speak SO MANY TIMES LOL. But it’s funny because Chan would say, “I think.....” then he looked around the stage then looks at up Seungmin and says, “SEUNGMIN wants to say something !!” And Seungmin would just go like “Ah” and shake his head but then he would introduce the next song. :) It was super cute. Chan also talked a lot about “first times” and how precious and memorable they are. He was really excited about this being his first time in LA and about performing in LA for la stays it was so cute :))

Then Hyunjin talked about coming to Disneyland when he was smaller and he said “But because I was so child I can’t remember it” and UWU. BUSTED 10000000 UWUS FOR HIM !!!

Changbin also spoke so much English ! i’M SO PROUD OF HIM DID I ALREADY SAY THIS? IDEK BUT HE SAID SO MUCH IN ENGLISH AND HE SPOKE SO ELOQUENTLY IT WAS AMAZING !! Woojin, Jeongin and Minho didn’t say as much. But they spoke in Korean and there was a translator. :) Minho tried to speak in English during his ending ment but he forgot what he said. Stays were trying to cheer him on by saying “YOU CAN DO IT!!” But he got shy, and just said “I LOVE STAY”. :)) He’s so adorable I love him. There was also a person performing sign language for a Stay on my side of the venue too. Chan saw them and took a moment during the concert to say “can we just take a moment and applaud the sign language translator!” Chan is so cute he really notices everything idk he’s adorable HE’S ADORABLE.

The girl in front of recorded the entire concert and honestly I respect her because my arms got tired of holding up my phone after like 1 chorus lmao. Also the girls behind me screamed so loud I hope that their throats are okay today. I was sitting next to the speaker too, so hearing all the screams in the arena and sitting next to the speaker did not help my hearing at all LOL. My ears were muffled at the end of the entire thing.

Also idk if it’s my hearing being messed up or if it was real life but their voices are so much more high pitched irl? Like Seungmin was so nasally and Jisung was like ᵘᵖ ʰᵉʳᵉ. LOL But during the hi touch, Jisung sounded deeper. Felix sounds the same irl and holy frick I love him. I love him. I love him too. The boys are absolutely so cute they kept looking at everyone around the entire arena and they kept seeing “I love you Stay!” Woojin also said during the concert “La is pretty but Stays are more pretty” and AHHH We all went wild HAHAH. During their aegyo part, thEY ALL KEPT ROLLING AROUND THE STAGE AND I WAS LIKE ??? IS THIS ALLOWED ??? HAHAH. Chan said “The name’s Bang... Bang Chan” and aksjlgh THE CROWD WENT WILD FOR THE MAN. Hyunjin had the cutest aegyo though :’) He did a flying heart and caught it and ugh beautiful.

During Get Cool, Changbin changed the lyrics :’). He changed the lyrics from 막내 오다 주웠다 훗 이게 형 클라스죠 (Maknae, oda juwoda hut ige hyung geullaseujyo) to “Stay, I love you!” and gave a finger heart. IT WAS PRECIOUS. Also.. Voices just hits so differently irl. Seungmin’s part in the chorus when he sings “Break free from the voices in my head” just HITS. SO. DIFFERENTLY. IT’S AMAZING. And when Chan sings “Step out of the voices” is so powerful I can’t even explain. I recorded the part where Changbin and Jisung are doing their duo rap because IT’S SUCH A POWERFUL MOMENT. Insomnia is... IT ALSO HITS DIFFERENTLY. Something about all the Stays singing “I can’t sleep” with Chan is so emotional idk. But Hyunjin singing in Insomnia UGH BEAUTIFUL. THE ENTIRE CONCERT. BEAUTIFUL. MINHO HITS DIFFERENTLY IRL. LIKE HIS SINGING IS SO ANGELIC AND WONDERFUL I LOVE HIM ! I LOVE ! HIM ! Hyunjin did a body roll because he was doing a “sexy version of My Pace” and wow my boy. Right there. Really going at it.

THEY KEPT SLAPPING EACH OTHER’S ASSES DURING AWKWARD SILENCE LMAO LIKE OKAY THAT’S GREAT HAHAH During Felix’s part where he went “Marbling” someone slapped someone else’s but I can’t remember who asgkjh it was funny though because like their bottoms were facing us and you can just clearly see them slapping each other lol

Also some fans got a project together and they made red cellophane sleeves and blue sleeves for the lighsticks. During Hellevator we all held up our red sleeves and during Grow Up we held up the blue sleeves. It was sooo pretty being apart of the blue ocean in Grow Up :)

Then during the Mixtape #2 VCR, it showed clips of the boys doing their individual introductions during the survival show days. It sort of broke my heart in a good way. Idk how to explain that properly. But just seeing how far they’ve come... when it’s also only been a year.. and seeing how much they’ve grown and improved.. I love it so much. I love being a Stay. It’s sincerely one of the best things ever.

Also since the concert venue was smaller compared to other concerts, I found the entire thing to be really cute. Because it was all so small and personal. We could really interact with the boys, and they interacted with us :’) I mean I sure would love to see them perform at the Honda Center, Staples Center or The Forum too. But this was a beautiful start. Having this small little concert and being with them :)

The fans though... they’re such a beautiful sight. During certain parts of the concert, it would be pitch black. But the thing was, our lightsticks shined so brightly that it lit up the entire room. It was such a beautiful sight I loved it so much.

I had a lot of fun at the concert though (as you can probably tell heh). :) It was just so fun being surrounded by other STAYs, singing, dancing, doing fan chants and more :) I love our boys so so so much and I miss them so much already. They’re really the light of my life.

Review of the Love Yourself Series

Disclaimer: These are my personal opinions and you’re allowed to disagree with them. I base my opinions off of my own personal taste and my experience with all of BTS’ discography. I don’t claim to be an expert in music, but I do love music and BTS is the first group whose music I really truly grew to love in a long time. A lot of these were my opinions before I saw them live on tour, and my feelings towards some of the songs have definitely changed, so I made a second part with my review of the concert set list.

I understand that a group’s sound can change over time and I encourage and appreciate growth and experimentation from artists, and there are particular songs in the LY Series that I think BTS did extremely well considering it was their first time trying some of these genres.

LY: Her

Her has a really solid set for a mini-album. MIC Drop Remix was the first BTS song I ever heard and it was completely different from anything I’d ever heard and enough to draw my interest.

I know some people gripe about DNA, and while I will admit it’s more “pop” than I’d expect from BTS, it’s still a really, really good pop song. Same thing for Best of Me, they took a beat that was pretty common in my opinion and made an awesome song.

Dimple is actually one of my favorites from Her, it was the first BTS song (aside from MIC Drop) to get stuck in my head, and I was glad to see it have a place on Answer. I always enjoy vocal-line songs, and this is no exception.

I personally think Pied Piper is a masterpiece and it’s one of my all-time favorite songs (hence the blog title). I love when BTS does more experimental, funky sounds, and I think Pied Piper was done so, so well. There’s also a lot of subtext in this song, and when you consider the elements used in the song coupled with the lyrics, I think it brings across the meaning of the song really well. It’s a bit of a sinister song (“I’m taking over”) disguised by how upbeat it is, and of course, the choreo (body rolls, anyone?).

Sea is the only hidden track in the series and it’s a hidden gem. Sound aside (and it’s a beautiful song), I think the lyrics are very important and we should pay attention to it’s meaning. Sea is an example of what I think BTS does best – a song with deep, melancholy lyrics that is still really nice in sound and catchy.

BTS’ hype songs are always fun and I really like Go Go, even the choreo is one of my favorites, and it is another example of a type of song that BTS consistently does really well.

Finally, Outro: Her. It’s very different from what we’ve heard from rap-line before, but their experimentation paid off and it’s a really good song. It’s a huge contrast from the Cyphers, but it’s still just as good in quality even if it’s not as hype. I’m particularly fond of the beat and I really like how it has a 90s hip-hop feel.

(I’m saving Serendipity for Answer btw so I can talk about the full length version.)

LY: Tear

Singularity I felt was a great intro for Tear and is just a really awesome song for Taehyung. It’s actually my favorite of his performances thus far and he was really able to show off his strengths as a vocalist. I really like the contrast between the sexy sound of the song and the sad lyrics. The MV is prob my favorite of all the “intros,” the production and aesthetics were so good, and Tae did so well with the acting and choreography.

FAKE LOVE is actually really good. I overplayed it a bit when Tear came out (streaming will do that to a person) but after a while I grew to love it, and I think it’s a really great song, perfect for a title track. It’s different from anything they’ve done before, and the sound is very unique. I particularly like the lyrics a lot (and believe that it’s a not-so subtle message to fans). I’m a huge fan of Jimin’s performance in this song in particular, and my only complaint is that I would have liked to hear a bit more desperation from Jungkook and Tae in their vocals during the chorus (hehe).

The Truth Untold… The first BTS song that has ever made me cry, and on the first listen too. Jin is always really good at conveying emotion in his singing and it was when he came in that the first tear fell. I was also really impressed with Jungkook’s performance as well. Jimin and Tae also did really well, it’s an all-around solid song and one of the best on Tear. The lyrics are seriously so sad and beautiful, but you don’t even need to know what they are saying to get the feeling of the song.

134340. I cannot put into words how much I love this song, it actually competes with Pied Piper for my favorite BTS song. It’s sooo different but sooo good. Everyone did amazing, I love the rap verses and the vocals. Just a really amazing song, it doesn’t sound like typical BTS, but again, that’s not a problem since the song is just that amazing. It’s probably the most experimental song in the series and it paid off so well, and this is example of a strength for BTS, that they are able to try out different genres and still pull it off near flawlessly. This is also an example of the quality of music I expect from BTS.

Paradise is the silent killer of Tear and of the series in general. On first listen it’s okay, but the more time you spend with it, the more you appreciate it. I think the rap verses and Jimin really make the song (my ears are Jimin-biased, what can I say?). Definitely one of the most underrated song on Tear.

Love Maze is good, another song that Jimin really stands out in. I actually like Love Maze more than Airplane Pt. 2 and would have preferred to see this in the promotions for Tear instead. Which brings me to…

Airplane Pt. 2. I like that they wanted to build off of J-Hope’s Airplane, a song that I really, really like, but I think it fell short of the original. At first it’s really catchy and they still did a good job with it, going for a more latin feel, but it became kinda old really quick for me and I still prefer original Airplane over it. It is a song that I thought had potential for Western GP, but it wasn’t really promoted over here…

Magic Shop is a nice song, very Jungkook, and that made me want to love it more than I actually do. It’s still nice to listen to but the production isn’t my favorite. Compared to Love is Not Over, the last song JK did production on, I feel like I’m left wanting with Magic Shop. I do love the lines “You show me the best of me, so you’ll show you the best of you” and it’s very cute as a fan song.

Anpanman is another great hype song, loved it almost immediately and it’s super catchy. When I played it for non-BTS fans it was the song they liked the best, and again, it’s something BTS does really well.

So What kind of feels like the obligatory EDM song on the album lol. I see its appeal more for the concerts than as a contribution to the album, it kinda sticks out too much. I’m very fond of the bridge and the end though, and Jimin’s vocals make the song for me.

And finally Outro: Tear. It’s probably the best song on Tear the album, maybe even the series as a whole. Rap line did phenomenal. The intro sampling the highlight reel contrasts the rest of the song in the best way. Each member’s verses are just really, really good. Yoongi tried something different with the vocals and he did it really well, and the other two had really solid delivery. Another song I couldn’t wait to see live.

LY: Answer

I had somewhat unfavorable opinions on Answer. I didn’t want Answer to be a repackage; I would have preferred another mini-album, but I was pleasantly surprised by the way the songs were set up on disc A and how there are clear divisions between each part of the series. I didn’t expect so much vocal line and rap line division, but it all still works really well.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I actually like when each member gets to do solo stuff, it’s such a better way to gauge their individual talents and skills, and you can appreciate them all the more, so I was really happy to see that rap line got to do solos even if I didn’t expect it. And the collection of vocal line “intros” is also really good.

Euphoria took me some getting used to, I actually didn’t listen to any of the “bootleg” versions made after the Wonder video came out, but I was happy to find that I liked the official version a lot, particularly the bridge. Jungkook did really well with this song, and I think it had everything that Begin lacked.

Trivia: Just Dance is immediately catchy and soooo Hobi, it’s really, really good and he did a great job. He really captured his love of dance in the song and I’m happy he got to do a song like this.

Serendipity… I can go on and on about Serendipity. When I started introducing myself to BTS I started with Her and moved backwards with the discography, and I thought the intro version was so beautiful (albeit a little too short). It was the first BTS song I truly loved, and at that point in time I didn’t realize it was only sung by Jimin, nor did I know any of the members’ names. It’s a song that reminds me of what falling in love with BTS felt like, but aside from my personal attachment to it, Serendipity is just a really pretty song. Jimin is perfect for it, his soft and sweet voice really complements the message, and I felt like he really captured the feeling of what it’s like to be in love, to be happy in love. I was really hoping they would release a full version of Serendipity and I was thrilled when it was announced on the track list, and the added bridge is so beautiful. It’s a huge contrast to Lie, but I like it almost as much as I love Lie, because what really sells me is the emotion Jimin puts into his singing.

Trivia: Love is different from what I expected from Namjoon but it’s done so well and it’s also really catchy. The lyrics are genius of course, as I expected from him. I’m very pleased with this song and couldn’t wait to sing along to it at the concert.

Trivia: Seesaw gets my vote for best song on Answer. Again, it’s something very different from what I expected from Yoongi, but the production quality is so, so good. We get to hear his vocals and the song is refreshing. It’s kind of chill, but you still get this sense of regret and acceptance. It’s almost like an “answer” to Tear. He got the emotions so right, this song is just beautiful, and he continued with the surprises by including a choreo in the performance, so hats off to you, Yoongi.

I was really, really, really excited for Epiphany. I’m a huge fan of Jin’s vocals, to me he is the best at conveying emotion through his singing and I live for his song covers and Awake, so I was really looking forward to his solo, and I was not at all disappointed. Epiphany is a perfect song for Jin, and I was so pleased to hear that he had a hand in its creation. Like The Truth Untold, you don’t need to understand the lyrics to get the feeling of the song.

I can’t rank any of the solos in terms of favorites, because each solo is so essentially the member that performed it, it would be like ranking the members and I refuse to do that, but I do think that the Trivias stand out the most in terms of production quality.

In general, I think BTS’ rap-line is very special and they have real gems with each of the three rappers. I know rap line is already involved in all their music, but I’d actually like to see more involvement in the future. Yoongi once mentioned how he would like to do a whole album with just the seven of them, and I do believe they could make a really, really good album. I was impressed with all of the rap line solos but I can’t say that I was surprised, as I’ve come to expect high quality music from them, and they did not disappoint at all.

As for the group songs, IDOL is actually my favorite of the Answer group songs. I know the boys said it was something different for them, but all I heard was BTS. It’s like their hype songs and is like essential BTS, it played upon their strengths and I was happy to see more rap line parts in a title track. If I had to compare FAKE LOVE and IDOL, I’d say that FL is more vocal-heavy and is a great song for the vocalists to shine, but IDOL was a bit more equal (save for Jin’s parts…). It’s probably one of my favorite title tracks, it’s my favorite MV second to Blood Sweat & Tears, I love the energy and the camp, and the lyrics are so clever. IDOL has everything that I love about BTS and I love that they respectfully borrowed from other cultures and still made the song their own. I also think it had Western GP appeal, but alas...

I will admit though, I was disappointed with the other group songs on Answer. It’s not that the songs were bad, they are catchy enough and are nice to listen to, but I wasn’t really impressed, not the way I was when I first started listening to all of BTS’ pre-Tear discography.

I’m Fine... For a song that (I assume) was supposed to serve as counterpart to Save Me, I was pretty disappointed. Save Me is one of my favorite songs by BTS, I really like the contrast between the upbeat tempo and the melancholy lyrics, and I don’t mind the EDM elements when it’s mixed with the boys’ voices. The vocals and the rap verses stand out a lot to me in Save Me, but not so much in I’m Fine. I do like the pre-chorus and the bridge, Jimin’s parts are my favorite parts of the song (surprise!), but I would have liked more from rap line. Namjoon did mention they struggled to write for this song and I can see why. I do appreciate that the lyrics mirror Save Me’s lyrics, but I personally think they could have done better. I will say that opinion could be skewed since I was betting so much on it being like Save Me, and after listening to it on repeat I do like it, it’s pretty, the choreo is interesting, but it’s not my favorite.

Answer: Love Myself sounds like an end credits song (lol), but I don’t mind that so much because it’s the song that ends the series. But it does seem a little anticlimactic for the final song of the series. The way the series had been going, with Her and Tear ending each album respectively, I knew that Answer was going to be the last song and that it would have all the boys, but I would have liked it to match Her and Tear a bit more, and it seems out of place with the other two. That being said, I do like the lyrics. “You show me I have reasons I should love myself” almost made me cry when I heard the song for the first time, and I think it’s a really great song to end their concerts with. I would have liked something a little more iconic, something more like Spring Day, and it’s missing BTS’ edge, what sets them apart from others, but it still does the job.

All in all, the Love Yourself series was quite an accomplishment for BTS, not just with the music they created but also with the sales and awards they won for it. The theme of “love yourself” is a very beautiful and important message, and their exploration of the concept through the series was very enjoyable. Her was a fabulous introduction to BTS’ discography for me (and I’m sure many other people) and Tear and the new songs from Answer were good enough to keep me sold on BTS. I am truly excited to see what the future holds for them music-wise, and I have a lot of faith that whatever they do will be brilliant.

Today I'm sitting with up and coming rapper, like myself, Genevieve of The City Girls and the answer is YES, she is in fact fine as hell in person, no catfish here.” Ice laughed. “I’m not wasting noooo time we’re gonna jump riiiight into the interview. Me and my good sis BEEN chattin’ so I’ma get straight into the TEA.”

Isis: “What started you off rappin’? How’d you get started in the industry?”

G: It's a crazy story actually, my homegirl Jt started me off rapping it was never something i thought I'd want to pursue on a serious level but one night she pulled up on me and she was just so hyped about her verse she just wrote and I'll never forget she turned to me and said "Jénevieve hop on his track with me" I'm like gurl what?!” chuckling “Long story short I bust my verse out in under 20 minuets and the rest was history” smiles “I've always had a passion for music growing up in miami tho' I grew up in a household where we would just blast Trina and trick daddy 24/7 but Trina definitely was inspiration!

Isis: “Yasss Trina! So now I HAVE to ask, who are your top 5 inspirations in this rap shit?”

G: You already know I'm rocking with the diamond princess Trina, then Remy ma, Foxy Brown, and Charli Baltimore, Lil kim

Isis: “I was boutta say, you can’t forget Kim when it comes to this female rap shit. On a different note tho` how do you balance working and being social in these streets?”

G: whew chile it's a struggle laughing forreal tho' it can get really hectic at times i feel so secluded but I make sure i catch up with my folks as much as possible when a bitch got some downtime and i rarely get any of that since i have to hold shit down for city girls #Freejt, Sometimes I even bring sum of my peoples with me when I'm on the road.

Isis: “I feel that. Makin’ it work based on the circumstances. So while you out on the road, I know you ain’t just TALKIN’ talkin’ but are you dating?”

A: Naw, I ain't dating and I don't think I plan on it anytime soon I just want to make music and focus on city girls but it's a few LA niggas that can get it but ima' chill

G: Honestly? It's been amazing I've managed to meet some fire producers and tons of talent agents, songwriters, creative directors. Now, don't get me wrong LA surely does have it's con's but we ain't gon get into all that laughs

omg sorry for the late reply but i saved this message so i could tell you how the concert was!!! but i’m putting it under a break and i know that feature is wonky on mobile but to everyone else, skip ahead of this post if you don’t want to hear about the concert!

i mean im still like on another plane of existence after getting to watch them but you know hahaha. i really can’t believe how everything fell in place for me! i mean from my class being cancelled so i could leave and get to the venue with time to buy my last minute ticket... and for that last minute ticket to even exist??? plus the fact that i got it? and that it was a P2 seat right in front of the extended stage? i mean idk i just wow thank you universe ily

but oh my god everyone says they somehow look better in person and i was like how is that possible??? but it really is possible and i can’t believe how good they look aksjgdkjasjagds

and they sound sooooooo good oh my god. okay i wont lie... like last time i was a lil skeptical about whether they actually sound that good live but the answer is yes they do and im sorry i ever doubted them! the vocal line shined in their performance of truth untold like each and every one of them killed it. jungkook’s adlibs were so beautiful i wanted to cry. also rap line killed it during outro: tear like i lost my voice just screaming the chorus part. it was soooo hype

watching all of them get to perform their solo song was so good like akjhfkjakj the choreo, or just the vibe from the songs... they all look like they were having fun!!! plus the fact that they performed so many of their older songs like my hyyh loyalist ass was screamin when they did i need u, run and dope. but no baepsae )’: that’s today’s set list )’: ahahahha but jk it was so good im ajskdhksj

okay first of all namjoon’s smile is... i just, i love it. when he smiles, it’s so contagious! and trivia: love is just so namjoon. he looks like he’s having so much fun when he performs it. oh and he was a count too early during the bst choreo and he was so embarrassed it was sooo cute ): also his ending ment was so sweet like i just wanna love him forever. he looks so handsome in person i just can’t stop thinking about it.

then mr jay... like hobi was born to be on stage, no question. monsieur hobi just knows how to work it. the way he grooves to the music is just smth else and then you know he goes hard during mic drop & tear but then in like answer: love myself he’s so sweet and soft and i just wanna smooch him. also he actually glows in person wow. he did his whole ending ment in english while rarely looking at the teleprompter and i will never not be impressed.

jimin has grey hair now and i love it so much omg. also this man and his duality is just... how is it allowed? watching him perform serendipity was an experience on its own. god, his lines and his form when he dances... i wants it. also his voice is so good live wow. it’s so so so good. i can’t believe he sometimes thinks his voice isn’t good enough or wtv. it’s. so. good. also he always does extra body rolls... not fair. and he’s so damn cute when he wants to be asdlashdsk

taehyung... just guau. he has brown hair again and idk taehyung just looks ethereal. seeing singularity live was just life altering or smth you know??? you could feel the emotion behind the song like his voice is so powerful and yet soothing and the choreo is to die for. also he’s such a goof when they perform anpanman and stuff and he kept trying to look at everyone and was the last one off the stage! mr kim taehyung radiates love and im here for that.

K I M S E O K J I N is a king. he has the voice of an angel and man oh man is he handsome. so so handsome. he looks like he belongs in a movie when he’s performing epiphany. he nailed the high notes and his performance just took my breath away. oh and i love it when he goes ham during so what and starts dancing all crazy hahaha. also also him in truth untold... his vocals... his ability to project his voice is a big WOW.

yoongi... oh mr yoongo. wow seesaw in person was wow!!! he looked so in his element, so comfortable on stage and the choreo for the song??? the choreo! plus you know the benches! and his singing voice! i know people talk smack about his seesaw outfit but i actually really like it haha and he just looked so good in person. also in his ending ment he said: chicago... it’s the windy city right? but why is it so hot in here? skajhdskhdka

jungkook my sweet baby boy (’: he looked so happy on stage and he just looked like he was genuinely having a good time. his voice sounds higher irl? i was pleasantly surprised haha. also i totally get what that lady on king of masked singer felt like when she heard jk sang bc i got goosies when he did those ad libs in truth untold. anyway he’s so handsome and his smile makes me want to astral project myself to a whole other universe. i love him sm )’:

anyway i love them even more now if that’s possible but also i think the concert was crazy good. like even if you weren’t a fan, it’d be a concert you can enjoy. it’s so high energy and then it gets all quiet for truth untold & epiphany and then all soft and fun loving hours for answer: love myself, so what and anpanman. it’s a crazily good paced concert... i don’t think i’ve ever seen anything like it.

How you meet: you meet through dance! You had started taking more and more dance classes and workshops after your debut and occasionally you would meet new people in those classes! Long story short, she "accidently" caught you off gaurd after practice one day and you might have turned around and kicked her in the shin in a desperate attempt to "defend" yourself. You apologized over and over again but she just wouldn't stop laughing and take your apology, "hahahahhahahahaha you call that self defense?! You looked like a rabid bunny...I'm sorry hahahhaha...I can't stop laughing...hahaha.." "HA! Hilarious. Laugh it up..." She ends up choking which makes you laugh hysterically, until both of you are just a mess of giggles. You quickly end up bonding over your love for dance and food! And it became kind of a game between you two, on who could sneak up and scare the other more: at award shows, at fan meets, at restaurants; any and everywhere you could possibly think of! You had gotten in couple of good scares, but she was still the reigning queen! Which, she always brags about! "Lisa, you're best friends with Barbie right!?" "Yeah! She's my bestie!" "I hear you like to sneak up and scare eachother! How do you usually do it?!" "Yeah! I get her everytime! Like this...(^.. gif..^).." She's such a fruitloop, but you love her!

How you meet: it was one of the weirdest encounters you've had in your entire life, to be completely honest. One second you were picking out something to eat at the local 7-11 and then without warning you were surrounded by a pack of fetus looking thugs. "You barbie!?" "We've literally watched every single one of her music videos and all of her interviews. We know what she looks like, why would you ask such a stupid question!?" "I was just trying to act cool!" So when yg suggests that you start trying to broaden your fan base with some type of variety show or competition like 'Hit the Stage' you freaked out! (Girllllllll, so would I!)You were so excited but also very nervous to showcase more of your dancing skills on such a big platform but it turned out to be one of the funnest experiences! You ended up feeling right at home amongst the other dancers, made some new friends, learned more about dance as a craft and even made some new fans! "It was just sooo fun! I was definitely nervous but I pulled though! I knew I had it in me!" "Ohhhh wow, so you're just not going to give me credit at all!?
