I'm still thinking about vampire Usopp w/sanuso btw, just like
Sanji insisting Usopp come to him whenever he's hungry, for multiple reasons, but primarily bc he's the cook, it's his job to keep his cremates fed above everything else. And Usopp going along with it, asking for blood around the same times he used to ask for food. Thinking Sanji would tell him if he ever took too much.
Sanji, however, is a fool. A very kind, but large fool. He doesn't tell Usopp when he's taking too much or too frequently. In fact their whole arrangement barely lasts a few weeks before Sanji collapses in the middle of food prep.
Like, just the idea of the guy who gives and gives and, yeah it feels nice to give, but can't fathom the idea that there are others on the crew able to do the same. That he doesn't have to give until there's nothing left.
Idk just. Physical manifestation of his problems with accepting unconditional love without having to give anything to earn it. As in, the more he gives without bounds, the more he's literally killing himself.
And then. And then.
Usopp coming into the galley, ready to sheepishly ask for a snack, just like before this whole thing, and finding Sanji on the floor.
And he yells for Chopper before looking Sanji over. Coming to the realization that this was him- this was his fault. He took too much. Asked for too much. Asked too much of Sanji.
And he's just kicking himself the whole time, telling himself it was stupid to ever think Sanji- Sanji of all people- would ever deny him a chance to fill his belly.
He comes to the conclusion he can't ask Sanji for blood anymore. He can't ask anyone for blood anymore. He couldn't risk this happening again. To any of them.
After Sanji got a transfusion and isn't at risk of falling over anymore, he and Usopp begin an agonizing back and forth routine.
Sure, Sanji can't give blood for a while- doctor's orders- but there are some rather big fish in the aquarium, and Usopp has always loved the taste of fish. He drains the blood out of a few, stores the excess in the fridge, and offers a glass to Usopp to make up for the lunch portion he never got.
Usopp says something or other about grabbing a bite from a sea king earlier and waves him off. Sanji frowns but doesn't say anything.
And this same bit continues and continues and continues, until Sanji puts his foot down. Literally.
Kicks Usopp's ass to the galley. Has an infuriating conversation with him. Continues to try and get him to drink. Ends up coming to a conclusion that Usopp only liked drinking blood from the source. A passing thought making him consider that there was only one source- one person he'd drink from.
Usopp- tired and fuzzy and hungry, so so hungry- is trying his damnedest to keep Sanji satisfied with lies he doesn't have the energy to make believable. He's trying and trying but Sanji is bulldozing through each one, not taking no for an answer and-
Is it me? Sanji asks, his voice far, far too hopeful. Do you only want to drink from me?
And if Usopp wasn't tired- wasn't literally starving and finding it hard to keep his thoughts from slipping away- he would examine that voice. That tone. Run through his own daydreams with different words, different contexts, being implied with those words.
But he is tired. And he is starving. And he needs to get a grip before he wavers even more in his resolve.
And so, it's surprising yet all too expected when Usopp declares Sanji's blood as the nastiest thing he's ever tasted. Says he never wants to get within smelling distance anymore, it's that bad. Too late, he realizes his smelling distance, now, covers the entirety of the ship and then some.
Sanji stays silent. Usopp contemplates taking it back. He doesn't.
Casually, Sanji reaches over to his knife block. Despite his current status as a member of the undead, Usopp fears for his life. He wonders if Sanji was just as skilled with a knife as Zoro was with his swords and desperately hopes that's not the case. Aloud, he tries to calm Sanji down while subtly trying to put distance between them.
Without any warning, practically without sound, Sanji tilts his head and cuts a thin line near the juncture from his neck to his shoulder. And all of a sudden, Usopp's filled with another, far more terrifying, kind of fear.
It's just like Boin, Usopp, he thinks to himself, eyes glued to the spot where dark red beads of blood well up on pale skin. Just like Boin.

A/N: Part 4 is here, and its the last Chapter of Regret Veins series, I hope you guys Enjoyed it as much as I enjoed writing it, to me this crossover series was the most thrilling yet longest Scenario I have written after my writer's block and I'm honestly satisfied with it😌.
And regarding the chapter, there are some RE canon stuffs related to Leon that I kinda changed, mostly in terms of timing compared to the original thing nothing much🫂

Finale
After dividing themselves into Teams A, B and C, Team A consisted of Leon & Sanji, Team B consisted of Nami, Zoro and Chopper, and Team C consisted of Luffy, Robin, Brook and Usopp. The three groups parted to their own ways looking for their precious crew mate, in hopes that she'd be alive and safe.

You regained your consciousness, however, the dim light made it hard for you to recognize your surroundings, once your vision cleared, you found yourself trapped inside a cell, the walls were barely hanging in, but at least it seems that your cell was the only one to be intact compared to the other cells around. You got up, feeling the muscles pain rushing all over your body, but you could care less, escaping this nightmare is now your top priority. It was soon when you started hearing heavy foot steps getting closer and closer to your cell, you stepped back, not excited to figure out what's approaching you.

But it was too late, everything happened so quick for you to process, there stood a seven feet tall tyrant infront of your cell, opening the bars effortlessly and throwing you like a grocery bag into the feeble wall. You couldn't help but groan in pain spitting blood out of your mouth, as you tried to get up on your knees again, the tyrant's fist flew over to your abdomen making you unconscious again.

On the other side of Umberlla's mostly destructed facility Ran Sanji and Leon around, searching a floor to another, miserably failing to find you, since the facility was barely consistent. Both men stood there, trying to figure out where to search next.

"I'm going to be honest with you, I followed you just because you said that you know this place, but if you weren't familiar with it, I would have already left to look for my beloved Y/N-chan, however, I don't want to waste time searching in unnecessary places" Said Sanji to Leon

"I know, I'm sure we're gonna find her, this place is huge and full of dangerous damn undeads and god knows what other creatures are ahead of us, so we need to be careful for Y/N's sake too" explained Leon

"Then, what's the plan Mr.Agent?"
-
"Just give me a second " said Leon as he pulled his device contacting Hunnigan
-
"Leon where are you now? Its been few hours since you contacted me, can you update me with your current situation?" requested Hunnigan
-
"I'm still on my mission, but I just found out thay my best friend is kidnapped by the freaking Umberlla, and I'm not leaving her here"

"Alright, Alright, I'll help you, what do you want to know now?" asked Hunnigan
-
"Can you locate the data base room for me? everything is a mess here"

"Copy that"
-
"Thanks" said Leon as he placed the device back into his pocket and faced Sanji
-
"We can go to the data base room, search for her name, if she was really here, we can find her exact location in this place" explained Leon, and Sanji nodded in agreement. However, little the two men knew that they were observed by someone.

"Hohoo, I see we have some guests, I would be so unmannered to leave them without hospitality, how about going to them my dear T-00" motioned the unknown men to the tyrant, as he picked up his ringing device.

"Hello Sir, How can I help you?" smirked the unknown man as he obsreved his cctv screens
-
"I see some rats wandering around on my screen, send any of your huge ugly creatures and stop them, I don't want them to mess up my plans" commanded the unknown former to the unknown man
-
"No worries, I have already taken care of them, and our Subject is having a lovely sleep in my laboratory, It would be a pleasure for me if you could join us for the experiment" said the man proudly

"I'll be there in few minutes, can't miss  the progress of my success" scoffed the former as he disconnected the call
-
"Huh, you mean our success, but that doesn't matter now, I will enjoy my reunion with you and we'll get to do lots of things together" laughed the man sarcastically as he injected your unconscious figure with with a small needle.

The two men walked through the facility based on the safest route suggested by Hunnigan, shooting and kicking any undead shows up infront of them without hesitation. However, Leon stopped by a certain room that surprisingly had no doors left.

"Oi, what's the matter, why did you stop?" Said Sanji as he stopped running ahead of Leon
-
"I have a feeling that I will need some  extra ammo, so I'll grab some, and its better if you carried a weapon with you too" adviced Leon
-
"My legs are enough-" said Sanji but got interrupted by Leon
-
"I know that you're pretty strong, I saw that the moment we entered the facility, but trust me, I've been dealing with these creatures for so long, and some of them won't be down unless you used weapons."

"Fine" Said Sanji as he walked into the Room taking a look at the weapons. And soon his eyes fell on the submachine gun, he took it, obsreved it, and it filled out his hip pouch with it's ammo

"Submachine gun huh? Nice choice by the way" commented Leon
-
"So you seem to be close with Y/N, is that how  close crew mates are? " asked Leon as he was reloading his guns
-
"Well, Y/N-chan and I have more than a best friend relationship, I'm her boyfriend, and I'm ready to die for her if I had to" expressed Sanji proudly

"Well, same here, but I'm glad she found someone she loves and can rely on, make sure to take good care of her, she's precious to me" said Leon
-
Sanji was about to reply back only to stop when both of them heard the sound of the heavy footsteps slowly approaching. These footsteps were familiar to Leon, but to whom it belonged to? He slightly peeked his head from the door frame's edge, but turned back as fast as he can.

"Oh Shit, we don't have time for this!" Cursed Leon under his breath

"What's the matter-"
-
"Shhhh" motioned Leon to Sanji
-
"Look, we don't have time to deal with the creature outside. I'm telling you this from a personal experience, so we'll head out quietly when he's not looking"
-
"I've seen larger than these, but holy shit, he looks tough" exclaimed Sanji after taking a look on the tyrant that was literally smashing every room he's checking with his fist
-
The two men made their way quietly without grabbing the 7ft tall tyrant's attention. However, that didn't last for too long since few undeads found Sanji and Leon as yummy lunch time meals. The Tyrant looked intensely towards their direction and made his way to them as he tossed the other undeads behind aggressively.

"Oi Sanji! this way!!" Motioned Leon to Sanji.

Running as fast as they can, Leon and Sanji made it finally to the data base room, closing the huge door behind them. Leon ran towards the multiple screens placed in the middle of the room and so did Sanji, before they heard the tyrant and undeads banging on the other side of the metal door.

"Shit, This door won't handle it for too long, we need to be quick, c'mon lets search for Y/N-chan's name!!" Said Sanji

"Alright, I'll do it, cover me up" said Leon as he tried to access Umbrella's system with the given information by Hunnigan, while Sanji made sure that the tyrant and undeads are still behind the door, and of course he glanced at the screen in between.

"Alright! I'm in, I need to search for Y/N's name in Umbrella's search engine"

Once he clicked on the 🔍search🔍 button, a folder with your name appeared on the screen, and Leon immediately clicked on it.

"Found it" Exclaimed Leon
-
"WHERE IS SHE?!" Asked Sanji
-
" Its Loading, C'mon C'mon....."
-
The Loading ended and a screen with your personal details appeared infront of Leon and Sanji

"CLASSIFIED??!" Exclaimed Sanji and Leon in disbelief

"DAMNIT!" Snapped Leon as he hit the keyboard
-
"Wait...the information insertion is from two years ago, Oi Leon what does that mean, why do they have her details in the system if she was kidnapped like 2 hours ago??"
-
"I've already told you before, Two years ago she got kidnapped by them and was experimented on , so they must have kept her details since then"
-
"I swear I'm going to make them pay for this" raged Sanji
-
" As I searched for her file, I noticed that they used to keep the other subjects in an underground floor" claimed Leon
-
"Then what are waiting for? let's go, maybe  she's down there"
-
The metal door started shaking and the banging seemed to get stronger. However, Leon and Sanji have already left to the underground floor using an elevator that was surprisingly still working. Stepping out of it, they walked into another door, Sanji seemed to be more surprised than Leon at the sight infront of them, it was a long passage full of cells, well mostly smashed and broken cell, few were barely still intact though.

"What in the world is this-"

"I'm not even surprised at this point, so this is where they're keeping the human and non human subjects" said Leon
-
"Hey... isn't this the creature that was after us earlier?" Examined Sanji as he pointed out on one of cells
-
"Yeah, these are called Tyrants, Ugh guess I'm gonna stay all night writing a report about this bullshit" Sighed Leon
-
"Alright, we need to look for Y/N-chan in these cells, C'mon let's go"
-
And for the next 10 minutes, Sanji and Leon searched every cell, the intact and the subversive ones in hopes to find you, only to fail miserably again,  until they passed by that last cell in the passage. The blood was scattered in different spots inside of it, the floor and walls, it might seem like the other cells they have already checked earlier, however, they were wrong.

Once they noticed your lavender hair band covered in flesh on the ground, Sanji drew closer and took it in his hands, the anger was running through his blood, his silence was enough to show the killing willingness in his aura just to get you back. Leon stood there, guilt rushing into him for not being able to make it faster here, he figured out that you were here at least 30 minutes ago, the scattered blood was still fresh, he just knew it.

"Hey, I'm feeling the same as you right now, but we need to keep searching for Y/N" Said Leon to Sanji as he tapped on his shoulder

"Alexander Issacs" muttered Sanji as he carefully placed your hand band in his pocket

"What?"
-
"Alexander Issacs, I saw this name on Y/N-chan's ID card earlier in the data base room, he must be working here and is in charge of her"
-
"Yeah, you're right, I do remember this, he must somewhere close here, if we find him, he can lead us to Y/N's place"
-
The two men nodded in agreement to each other and immediately rushed out of the cells passage, Only to end up in a department that looked and smelled like a hospital, the place was clean, it didn't feel like the same destructed place they were at few minutes ago.

"Can't believe this place is connected to the place we just came from" claimed Sanji
-
"Yeah, seems like two different worlds, the undeads probably can't get through this department, it seems protected" agreed Leon
-
"Oi Look, is this a Laboratory?" pointed Sanji at one of the windows
-
"Yeah, I guess this is the Laboratory department, we're they've committed the crime, by crime I mean the T-virus" confirmed Leon
-
"Dr. Alexander Issacs, he's probably in one of these laboratories"
-
"Yeah, the best place for a psychopath scientist, c'mon lets check each of these labs"
-
Your eyelids slowly opened, only to be exposed to the intense flashy light settled above you, trying to move your limbs left and right, but it was useless again, why does it feel like shitty Deja Vu, as if this happened before. Taking a closer look at your limbs , you realized that you were tied to a laboratory bed.

"You sure wake up so fast, that brings good memories don't you think so my little lab rat?" the scientist exclaimed sarcastically.
-
That voice, this feeling, you knew them. You glared at him in shock
-
"You...." You said gritting on your teeth
-
"Isn't it a lovely reunion Ms.Y/N? Last time we got intrupted and we couldn't play our game anymore, but now, no one can stop us" laughed Dr. Alexander
-
"Don't you have anyone else to play your psychopath game with except for me?" You scoffed
-
"Yes I do, but you're my special subject, I won't let you go that easily because our success depends on you, In fact, I've been watching you ever since you escaped 2 years ago"
-
"W-watching me?....what do you mean!"
-
"Oh haven't I told you sweetheart? we attach tracking devices into our special subjects, in case we lost them, it will be easier for us to find them" said Dr. Alexander as he held you from your chin

You aggressively tried to move your head right and left to get his hand off you, until you heard the lab's door opening
-
"Ohooo, Look who's here, its our Beloved former Albert Wesker" welcomed Dr. Alexander
-
"So this is the special subject?" Said Wesker as he looked intensely into your eyes scanning your figure
-
"Yes, and we can start the experiment on your mark sir"
-
"What are you waiting for then, start!"
-
Ever since you were caught by them 2 years ago, you never knew the reason for why you were called a special subject, do they know something about you that you don't?
-
"Is my little lab rat curious to know what game are we going to play??" Scoffed Alexander as he brought a huge transparent needle in his hand
-
Wesker sat on his special chair in the corner of the laboratory observing carefully each step Alexander does with you
-
"W-what are you doing! Don't you dare inject me with that needle I-" you yelled scared of the parasitic creature that floated inside the transparent needle.
-
"Oh well, two years ago, you ran away of me, and I failed to test the T-virus on you, however, I had a sample of your blood, once I escaped Raccoon city before the termination, I tested the T-virus on your blood and guess what~" giggled Alexander as he approached you.

"...." You said nothing but stared intensely at him out of fear
-
So the T-virus doesn't work on you, is that why you're called as a special subject?
-
"Oh I forgot to tell you that while you were unconscious, I injected you with an amount of the T-virus to see if it reacts the same as  your blood, and it did, isn't that great??" He proudly exclaimed
-
You remained silent, trying to process what Dr.Alexander have just said, will you turn to these ugly mosnters outside, but he said that your body didn't react to it...you reacalled one of the random conversations you had with Chopper as he was making some medicines
-
"Anti-bodies?" You questioned the rindeer in confusion
-
"Yes, I read once that some people don't get effected by diseases and viruses that they get infected by, this is because they have strong anti-bodies that can resist them, the virus sometimes remain inside the person's body, however, it won't effect them, in fact it boosts their immunity against it" explained Chopper to you
-
So, does that mean that your body contains strong anti-bodies and that's why you didn't get affected by the T-virus? You were engrossed in your thoughts, but immediately snapped out of it once you felt the needle's prick over your arms's skin
-
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING???!! LET ME GO!!" You struggled through the various cuffs around your limbs
-
"Too Late sweetheart" smiled Alexander evily as he injected the huge transparent needle inside of your vein
-
You terrifyingly saw the parasite inside the needle going straight under your arm's skin and you screamed in pain and disgust. Alexander  and Wesker saw your body squirming in pain and the smile never left their faces.
-
"Y-YOU J-JERRRKKKK!!!, WHAT HAVE YOU INJECTED ME WITH AHHHHH-" You screamed in distress
-
"I knew that you were curious after all my little lab rat, well, I present you the Las Plagas"
-
"L-Las P-p-plagas...?!"
-
"Yes, Las Plagas are Bio-Engineered Parasites who Subjectes their hosts to various degrees of pain, well let's you're experiencing one now, but don't worry it will stop soon once it adapts with your body and later it will be able to hatch its eggs inside of you" elaborated Alexander in amusement
-
"S-SHIT.....YOU DAMN PSYCHOPATH SCIENTIST!!!" You yelled clenching your fist tightly to the point it started bleeding
-
"Oh and yes, If your anti-bodies were as strong as we saw with the T-virus, then You'll be able to take control over Las Plagas, it will make you vigorous and the experiment successful just as we wished, however, if you didn't then it will take control over you and You'll die in the most pathetic way" he mocked
-
The following 10 minutes were mainly just you squirming and screaming in pain, you were able to see the parasite moving under your skin and popping veins. It hurts, you could feel the burning pain thorugh your whole body, not just from the parasite but also from the previous injuries and bruises you got earlier in the cell . The tears formed at the brim of your eyes, why does your life suck like that? everything was always messed up for you, you were barely able to forget the traumatic incident two years ago thanks to Leon and your crew. You just didn't want to die like this... At least not before seeing your friends one last time... especially Sanji.

On the other side, Sanji and Leon were still checking a lab to another, getting out of it empty-handed each time, until they heared the faint screaming coming from one of the Labs ahead, the two men looked at each other in shock at the familiar voice

"That voice-''
-
"It's Y/N's!"
-
"Its coming from there!! Let's go!" Exclaimed Sanji
-
The two men immediately dashed towards the lab, without stopping and with their utmost speed and strength, they kicked the door in Sync aiming the guns straightly towards Dr.Alexander and Wesker, with you cuffed into the metal laboratory bed behind them

"Y/N!!", "Y/N-chan!!!" Called both men
-
You turned your head, trying as hard as you can to not pass out, you tried to let Sanji's  name out of your mouth, as you extended your fingers uselessly towards him, but then, another inflict striked your whole body making you whimper in pain loudly unable to notice Leon next to him.

"YOU BASTARDS!!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO Y/N-CHAN!!!" Snapped Sanji as he dashed towards Wesker and Alexander
-
"SANJI WAIT!! SHIT!!" Ran Leon Behind Sanji as he started Shooting Both Wesker and Alexander
-
Sanji collided with Alexander while Leon ended up against Wesker, Of course, Alexander was just a scientist, he barely knew few defence moves, but he can't actually stand long in a fight, so, he was trying to run away like a coward until that malignant idea crossed his mind, if he threatened Sanji using you, it will be easier for him to escape and take you his special subject with him, however, Sanji was clever enough to notice the scientist's obvious vile trick and stopped him before his attempt, giving him the amount of kicks he deserved for hurting you.

While on the other hand, Leon was kinda having a hard time dealing with Wesker, Since Wesker was known to use the virus to strengthen himself as it adapts perfectly with his body and boosts his immunity, making him stronger with every dose. Leon shot Wesker with his hand gun and used the shot gun in between, but it was useless, Wesker dodged the bullets with his quickness, with every dodge, he became closer to Leon until they ended up colliding physically.

Sanji was Soon done with teaching Alexander a memorable lesson until he pleaded Sanji to stop, but Sanji sent him to the other side of the department with his iconic Diable Jump. Noticing that Leon was in an intractable situation, he rushed to help him. The two men teamed up together, fought Wesker with everything they've had, until Wesker was finally blockaded by them, he realized that he's no match to them, since he currently isn't carrying another dose of the virus with him, and the best choice is to gain some spare time away. At the End, Wesker fleed and was nowhere to be seen around.

Once Wesker disappeared, Sanji and Leon immediately turned to your cuffed figure on the laboratory bed, to them, your sight was so painful to watch, but despite everything they gently started unlocking the cuffs  revealing your agonized body, lots of blood, cuts, bruises, and not to mention your pale skin. Sanji leaned and took you carefully in his arms making sure that he's not harming your suave injured body as Leon stood right next to him, your weak dizzy head couldn't help but fall on Sanji's chest, he was so concerned about you to the point that he haven't noticed how horrible the arm you got injected in looked until Leon pointed it out

"Hey, Look at her arm" said Leon, he had a bad feeling about this

"W-What is this, why does her arm look like that???" questioned Sanji in shock

"I think I have an idea about it, I just hope its not what I'm thinking of" sighed Leon as he carresed your infected arm

"S...anji..." You called almost whispering
-
"Y/N-CHAN!! Sweetheart....Are you okay??" Asked Sanji as he caressed your face with his thumbs
-
You nodded, but the pain was still throbbing through your body, but you didn't want to worry him more than he is. It was until you felt a huge warm hand resting over your infected arm, its obviously not Sanji's hand since he was holding you with one and caressing your face with the other. You turned your head, then your eyes were met with Leon's icy blue ones, and he gave you a smile. You stared at him in shock, not believing that he was right infront of you,  but he looks different, he grew some beard, his eyes were surrounded by dark circles, you thought that he must have been going through so much.

"L-Leon..." You called

"Yes dear, I'm here...." He said as he caressed your arms with his fingers
-
Your eyes teared up, the dearest two people to your heart were right here to save you when you almost lost hope of seeing them again, but your slight happiness to see them here faded soon when the pain striked back making you scream.

"Y/N!!", "Y/N-CHAN!!!" Both men called your name in concern
-
However, as you squirmed in pain, Something else caught Sanji's and Leon's attention, yes that's right, it was the Las Palgas parasite that started moving once again under your skin.

"Oh shit-" cursed Sanji at the sight but was interrupted by you
-
"S-Sanji... L-Leon...... listen...to me...." You managed to say between your whimpers
-
"Yes?" They both said, leaning closer so they can carefully listen to you
-
"These jerks....injected me with ..the T-virus..and...a thing...called....Las..Plagas....its.....its moving under...my skin....and I- Ahhh!" You tried to say but the pain keeps interrupting
-
"L-LAS PLAGAS?!" Snapped Leon in shock
-
"What?? What's that?!!!" Snapped Sanji too in fret
-

" For the T-virus, I suppose there is a vaccine somewhere here, and for the Las Plagas....Yes...there is....I myself got injected with this Las Plagas on one of my previous missions...and the only way to get rid of it is to exterminate it.."

"E-Exterminate?"

"Yeah.... but we need to hurry.... Y/N haven't coughed blood yet, so it means that the Las Plagas eggs haven't hatched yet"

"Wait, Eggs? No... that's not important now, what will happen if the eggs hatched and how can we exterminate this thing?"

"If the eggs hatched, it will be the matter of time before it controls her and... probably end up dying...."

"We have no choice but to check the places we haven't checked yet, if we didn't find it then I think we should go back upstairs, to where the monsters are waiting for us, and its a laboratory chair attached with sort of tools and computers."

"Alright...How about we ask the others?we're running out of time, maybe they saw the machine while they're looking for Y/N-chan"

"That's actually a good idea, we can reduce the places we need to check and save time too, You can ask your friends and I'll Check it with Hunnigan too"

And So, the two men went on with their plan, Sanji tried to get in touch with anyone of his crew while Leon contacted Hunnigan.

"No need, as we looked for Y/N, We met them coincidentally, and now we're together, and she just told me that they haven't seen anything like that either"

"She've been injected with the T-virus and the Las Plagas.....It seems that her body didn't react to the T-virus..but...the Las Plagas....she's showing the same symptoms as me when I got injected with it back then"

"Oh my god....Alright so you need to find the Las Plagas exterminator right?"

"Yeah, we don't have much time, she's suffering ..."

"No worries Leon, I'll try to locate the exterminator's place from the safest route as soon as possible, Just keep your radio on"

"Copy that, thanks"

Once the two men ended their calls, Sanji carried you carefully and started running alongside Leon and they had a little conversation as they searched for the Las Plagas exterminator.

"So, what did your friends say?" Asked Leon as he shoots the undeads appearing Infront of him
-
"They gathered together, but none of them saw the exterminator, what about you?" questioned Sanji
-
"Hunnigan said she'll locate it for us through the safest route, so we have to keep searching until she contacts me again"
-
"Alright...she better hurry up..." Said Sanji as he tightened his hold on you
-
"Yeah..." said Leon
-
You settled for a while in Sanji's arms, but the pain started rushing again making you whimper as you gripped Sanji's suit tighter and tighter, the two men stopped running once they heard you calling out their names
-
"Just hang in their a little longer sweetheart" said Sanji as he kissed your forehead
-
"Yeah, we're almost there" reassured Leon gave you a worried smile
-
As the two men kept running, they somehow ended going back upstairs, close enough to the place they first came from, and fortunately, they met the rest of the starwhats, and they were happy to see the three of you back. However, their smiles faded away as soon as they saw your barely moving figure between Sanji's arms.

"Y/N!!!!" Screamed everyone as the approched the three of you

"Oh my god what happened to her???!!" Cried Chopper at your state

"Long story short, she got injected with a virus and a parasite, and now we're looking for the exterminator" elaborated Sanji
-
"I-is she gonna be okay???" Asked Usopp and Nami worriedly

"Poor Y/N..." Said Robin with a sad expression
-
But soon, heavy footsteps were echoing in the distance once again, it didn't seem like a one or two, but more than that. Sanji and Leon immediately recognized the sound.

"Shit...not now" cursed Sanji
-
"Damnit....we don't have time for this..." muttered Leon too
-
"What's the matter?" Asked Luffy
-
"It seems that something entertaining is coming from that way" smirked Zoro
-
"I don't like that ....w-what's going onn?!!" Shivered Usopp as Chopper held into him
-
"Luffy listen, we have to find the exterminator to save Y/N-chan, its somewhere around here" said Sanji to Luffy
-
"I think its better for the rest to go back into a safe place, its better if we were less in numbers, because dealing with what's coming would be difficult" added Leon
-
Before Luffy can even say something, four of those 7ft tyrants appeared in the hallway getting closer and closer. Luffy turned back to his crew and made his decision.

"We still need to find the machine that will save Y/N's life, I know you guys are strong and would be able to handle this, but this island is too dangerous and we need to get out of here before anybody else gets infected, so for now I want you guys except for Zoro to go back to Sunny" ordered Luffy and everyone nodded.

"Its just an advice but, if you can use weapons then i suggest you do as you run back, since you know, the undeads are everywhere " told Leon to the Strawhats

And So, except for Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Leon and you, everyone ran back to Sunny go, leaving the mission of saving you on the four men, however, they have to get rid of the these tyrants first in order to proceed with their searching. The tyrants were only few inches away of all of you, but your pain was back again, everytime the pain strikes you, your veins pops out and your skin turns paler, and of course your whines and heavy breathings brought the men attention to you, they actually left you aside to collide with the other four tyrants.

"Y/N!! What's happening to her??" Said Luffy as he tried to stop one of tyrants infront of him

"SHIT.....WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THESE!!" Said Leon almost getting smacked by the tyrant but dodging it last second

As they fought the tyrants, some undeads appeared out of nowhere approaching your figure, Sanji noticed them immediately ran towards your direction smoothly taking you in his arms and taking off the undeads heads. However, what Sanji and Leon were afraid of the most happened. Your hand clutched into Sanji suit and then moved to cover your mouth, coughing out blood. Sanji stared at you in fear, he's losing you between his arms, he thought, but immediately snapped out of it once he heard Zoro warning him of the giant tyrant behind him.

"Damnit-" he said before flying and hardly bumping into the wall dropping you aside.

"Y/N!!! SANJI!!!" Screamed Luffy in anger as he activated his Gear 2 mode

"That stupid cook" said Zoro in concern as he stopped the tyrant infront of him

"Y/N!!" Ran Leon to you immediately
-
"Shit..." Cursed Sanji as he got up holding his side running to you despite the pain
-
"Sanji!! Leon!! You guys go and find the machine!! We've got this!!!" Said Luffy as he stood next to Zoro
-
Sanji and Leon nodded and instantly rushed to the other side looking for the exterminator. As they ran, Leon felt the device vibrating in his pocket, it was no one other than Hunnigan.

"Hunnigan! Did you find it?!!"
-
"Yes, you're on the right way! Keep going straight and you'll find the exterminator inside a lab on your right"
-
"Copy that!!"
-
"Did she find it?!!" Asked Sanji
-
"Yeah, its just straight up in one of those labs on the right"
-
Once the two men made it to the lab, they stood for few seconds making sure no one is inside and went in. Sanji gently placed you on the laboratory chair and rubbed your cheeks with his thumbs before stepping back a little

"What's the matter?" Asked Leon confused
-
"You take the lead...I'm not good with machines, beside, you said you had an experience with this...so I trust you to do it"replied Sanji
-
"Alright then" nodded Leon as he started locking the cuffs on your wrists
-
"WH-WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
-
"Don't worry, I'm just keeping her still during the extermination process, it will be dangerous for her to keep squirming and moving while it works"

"A-Alright..."
-
"Y/N...I'm gonna turn this on, it might hurt, so just handle it a bit okay?" Called Leon and you just nodded
-
Once the extermination machine started working, Luffy and Zoro made it to the three of you. Making few engine noises, the machine started doing its work on your body, two tools that looked exactly like a dental drill made their ways to your abdomen, the electrical blue sparks began to appear on the tip of it electrifying your whole body powerfully. You couldn't help but shriek at various types of pain you were going through right now, for instant, you felt that you lost the sense of feeling in your body, that you're gonna pass out, or worse, die.

"Y/N!!!" Yelled Luffy with your name ready to take you out of the machine but getting stopped by Zoro and Leon

"You can't do that! The machine is taking out the parasite that's threatening her life!!" said Leon

"Calm down Luffy... Look even Curly Eyebrows is waiting patiently, it looks painful but it will save her life" reassured Zoro
-
Sanji watched you squirming right and left as the blue sparks electrifying your body, his fist clutched tightly and he bit his bottom lip, he wants to stop it but he can't...so he just watched you suffering. The huge screen behind the chair showed the parasite's location inside of your body and finally announced that the parasite was exterminated successfully, whilst the tools stopped and went back to its places. Leon and Sanji immediately rushed to you, Leon started uncuffing your wrists, but Sanji was so scared to even touch your suave figure, afraid that he might hurt you more than you are.

"Y-you dummy... I'm not going to break like a glass" you cracked a tiny laugh through the pain as your tiredly looked at Sanji

"Y/N-chan...." He said taking your hand in his, you swear you saw those tears in the brim of his eyes, he've must have been so worried about you.

"I'm fine sweetie....I'm gonna need your delicious banquet to get my energy back" you smiled as you squeezed his hand
-
"Aye Aye Sir" he jokingly said as he squeezed your hand in return

"Are you feeling okay now Y/N?" Knelt Leon to you
-
"Leon....yes I'm fine now...thank you so much....you saved me for the second time..and from the same place too..." You said as you squeezed his hand too

"If you weren't dating Sanji, I would have said we're definitely destined" he joked

"Oi!" Said Sanji as he glared at Leon and you laughed
-
"I'm sorry for causing you trouble and thank you for saving my life..." You said to all of them
-
"Don't mind it Shishishishi" Said Luffy and Zoro just smirked
-
However, the joyful atmosphere didn't last for too long, when the whole place around you started shaking.

"W-what's going on?!!" You asked looking around in confusion

"Hahahahahahaha my dear lab rat, I wanted to to see you my special subject improving into something awesome and useful that will change the world, what a shame!! Now die here with your pathetic friends!!" Exclaimed Alexander through the speaker

"That Bastard!! He's still alive!! I'm gonna-" Snapped Sanji

"Oh No you're not going to do anything else to me, you need to do yourself a favor and get out from here in one piece!!! Hahahaha" said Alexander proudly

"HOLY SHIT, WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE NOW!" You cursed

"No worries Y/N-chan...get on my back" motioned Sanji to you but you hesitated

"I-I can run its okay, You've been carrying me for too Long-" you said but got interrupted by him

"I'm sorry Y/N-chan, but I refuse your refusal, so please get on my back and hold tightly, let's go back to Sunny"  he smiled to you and you nodded

Once you all made it out of the facility, you saw both Wesker and Alexander getting ready to run away with a jet.

"Oh so you made it outside huh-" mocked Alexander but got interrupted by the huge explosion coming from the building
-
"DAMNIT" cursed both Sanji and Leon as they dodged the falling debrises
-
"You might have escaped our grips, but no worries, I'm gonna make the whole world a new place with my viruses" said Wesker looking at you
-
"I'm not going forgive for what you did to Y/N-chan"  said Sanji to Wesker
-
"You dared and hurt my crew mate, and now I'm going to kick your ass!!" Yelled Luffy
-
After few minutes of the intense staring between the four men and Wesker, Sanji made his way to his captain with a serious look on his face while he was carrying you on bis back

"Luffy, would you mind if I took care of him?"
-
"Yeah Sure, I don't mind" said Luffy as he crossed his arms behind his head
-
"Alright, thanks captain" replied Sanji as he made his way to Leon and handed you to him
-
"S-sanji?" You called confused
-
"What are you doing Sanji?" questioned Leon
-
"Take her back to the ship safely, and we'll catch up with you once we're done with them" said Sanji with a serious tone
-
"But-" hesitated Leon
-
"You told me that Y/N-chan is as precious to you as she is to me, that's why I'm trusting you to take her back to our ship safely" admitted Sanji
-
"Alright then, I'll see you guys later" nodded Leon.

With you in his arms, Leon started running pass Wesker and his jet, leaving the monster trio in charge of taking him down. Sanji faced Wesker while Luffy and Zoro were standing aside, waiting to step in if Sanji needed extra hands with this. Alexander didn't dare to come and face the three men,  and decided to stay behind Wesker and hid inside the jet like a coward.

On the other side, there was Leon running with you on his back, he had to carry you that way because he was in need to use his weapons to take down the approaching undeads, it shouldn't get any worse but it did when it started pouring. However, that didn't stop Leon as he continued running back reaching the beach were Sunny was docked.

But just then, he felt your fingers clenching into his fabric breathing heavily, immediately he layed you down and was shocked at the sight. Half of your face was disfigured, your skin looked dry and moldy, your eye became milky coloured, the veins were prominent encircling your eyes to the bottom of your cheeks.

"Shit, what's this, Y/N what's happening to you?!!"

"I....I think.....its...its the T-virus.....I..I thought my body was immune against it...but...but...-"

"Shhh its alright, it gonna be okay, it seems that your body is still resisting it....we only have to get you the anti-virus...".

The Strawhats drew closer and approached your figure while Leon Looked around, it seems that he forgot to take an anti-virus while he was in the lab since you didn't show any symptoms of the T-virus before you guys left, but now, he has no choice but to contact Sanji and ask him to get the anti-virus for you.

Going back to the center of Raccoon city infront of Umberlla's facility, Sanji was fighting Wesker powerfully, but Wesker wasted no chance in making it harder for Sanji as the 7ft tyrants showed up, However, Luffy and Zoro were there to stop them. The den den mushi inside Sanji's pocket started ringing, bringing his attention away from Wesker, who used that to his advantage and sent Sanji flying with his all might.

"*Cough*...*Cough*.... Damnit!" Sanji cussed as he held his side in pain, then he picked up the ringing den den mushi

"Hello?? Sanji  are you there?!!"

"Oh yeah, what's the matter?! Is there something wrong with Y/N-chan??" Asked Sanji as he dodged Wesker's attack

"It didn't seem to effect her previously, however,The Las Plagas seems to have lowered her immunity system, Her body is showing symptoms of the T-virus, and we need the anti-virus, I couldn't get it, so can you do it instead??"
-
"T... T-virus?? Shit.....Alright I will get it once I'm done with this bastard!!" Sanji ended the call

"Oh, she showed symptoms of the T-virus now? that's weird, Stupid Alexander said she didn't, and he said what? special subject? Bullshit " Said Wesker as he attacked

"She ain't no Subject you jerk, I will teach you a lesson that you will never forget for hurting and using her as your experimental toy, I better hurry because I got no time to waste" Said Sanji clenching his teeth

"Oh I know, because you're looking for this right?" Smirked Wesker as he jiggled the anti-virus needle gun in his hand

"That's the-"

"Yes, that's right...its the anti-virus you're looking for, but of course, I'm not going to let you have it easily" Said Wesker smashing the needle gun into pieces

"YOU BASTARD!" Rushed Sanji to him in fury
-
But within seconds, Wesker dashed towards Sanji and punched him again in the same spot sending him flying towards Luffy And Zoro, and then disappear to his jet flying it away. Sanji wenched in pain but got up immediately looking for his opponent.

"Where is that jerk?!" Exclaimed Sanji
-
"He ran away with his big jet" replied Luffy
-
"Damnit!" Hit Sanji the ground with his fist in frustration
-
"What are you going to do now curly brows? He smashed the anti-virus that was supposed to save Y/N'd life" Stated Zoro in a serious tone
-
"You two go back to Sunny, Maybe Wesker will go after them while we're here, I'm going back inside the facility to look for the anti-virus" Told Sanji to the two
-
"But Sanji the place is blowing up how are you supposed to find the-" Said Luffy but getting interrupted by Sanji
-
"A fire like that can't stop a cook, if I didn't find it, regret will run through my veins for the rest of my life"
-
"Alright, then we'll get going first then" confirmed Luffy and Sanji nodded
-
And So Luffy and Zoro ran back to Sunny Go leaving the mission of saving your life on Sanji once again. Going back to Sunny, The Strawhats brought you and Leon back to the deck, and you were immediately taken to the infirmary. Leon told Chopper that his treatment effect would probably be temporary or useless, the only way you could be saved from T-virus is to take a dose of the anti-virus.

Fifteen minutes later, Luffy and Zoro showed up on Sunny go, they wondered if you made it safely here until they saw Leon standing by the sick bay's door. They approached him after making sure with the others that Wesker was never seen around in their absence. Once they entered the sick bay to check on you, Luffy drew closer to you and gently carresed your hair giving you a reassuring smile, however, your weak hand grabbed the end of his shirt

"What's the matter Y/N?" He asked confused

"S...San..Sanji...why isn't he with you guys...?" You breathed heavily

"He'll be back, don't worry Y/N" smiled Luffy

Leon watched you from the door frame, praying that Sanji can find the anti-virus quickly. Sanji on the other hand, was enduring the smoke and fire spreading everywhere around him as he looked for the anti-virus, and knowing that he had no time to waste, he immediately ran to the same lab you were trapped in beforehand in hopes of finding any anti-virus left over by the psychopath scientist.

Reaching the Lab, Sanji ruffled through the drawers, tables and the medicines cooling storage rooms, but he found nothing, nothing had the anti-virus inside of it. As he frustratedly walked around, he noticed a small locker hidden under the laboratory bed, he took it and figured out that it needs a pincode to unlock it, but he wasted no time thinking about it and immediately broke the locker with his legs.  Sanji had that tiny hope that the anti-virus could be inside the locker, but once the locker was broken, that hope vanished when he only found bunch of documents.

Cursing under his breath and blaming himself for all what happened to you, one of the documents caught his attention, specifically the one titled 'The T-Virus: A Comprehensive Analysis (Backup)'. Sanji immediately took the document in his hands, he went through it quickly, scanning the key terms to find what he is looking specifically for, yes its the information related to the anti-virus , if this is a comprehensive analysis of the T-virus, then they must have written something about curing it. Minutes later, he finally found what he's looking for, 'The Anti-virus: How its made and works against the T-virus '. A sigh of relief escaped Sanji's lips, he can now save your life, he only needs to go back quickly.

The explosions began to get closer and the fire was spreading, things have started to fall apart and the smoke was getting thicker. Sanji started to find it hard to breath, So he hid the documents in his suit and went to find his way out of the facility. After dodging the falling debrises and tiny explosions and fires, Sanji finally made it out of Umberlla's facility in one piece panting heavily. However, he had no time to steady his breathing, he quickly dashed out from Raccoon city's center, going straightly to the beach, to where you were.

Once he was by the shores, he sky walked to Sunny go, praying that he made it on time, that he wasn't late. There you were, laying tiredly on the bed, wondering if Sanji was alright or not, and that's when you heard his voice outside the sick bay.

"Sanji...." You called staggering to go outside

"Y/N! Dear where you going, you need to rest!" said Leon as he braced you to walk
-
You opened the door and stood by its frame, bracing yourself with Leon, you didn't notice but the tears were already sliding over your cheeks. Sanji stared at you for few seconds before running and taking you in his embrace.

"S...Sanji...." You cried

"I'm here sweetheart, I'm here...you don't have to worry anymore" he reassured
-
"W... what's this...." You slightly parted as you felt the dampness on Sanji's side, you soon realized that he was bleeding

"Y.. You're bleeding...." You cried again
-
"Shhhh....Look at me Y/N-chan....its just a small injury, I'll be fine...now we need to treat you...I don't wanna to see you suffer anymore " he said, wiping off your tears

You nodded and he gently took you back to the bed, once he was done, he went out to the others and sat down on the mass's circular bench.

"Sanji!!, You're bleeding" exclaimed Chopper worriedly
-
"I'm fine Chopper its just a small injury, you can treat me once you finish treating Y/N-chan" replied Sanji pating on Chopper's head
-
"So...did you find the anti-virus?" Asked Leon
-
"Unfortunately,  that jerk Wesker had one, but he broke it on purpose before I can take it from him" said Sanji
-
"Yeah, he smashed it without hesitation" agreed Luffy
-
"So I went back to the facility once again, ln hopes of finding another dose of the anti-virus for Y/N-chan" explained Sanji
-
"But it seems that you didn't find anything right?" Questioned Leon
-
"Yeah...but I found something else" Said Sanji as he took out the hidden document from his suit
-
"What's that Sanji-kun?" Asked Nami
-
"Its a detailed research about the T-virus, how its made, works and how it can be cured" said Sanji
-
"But, we already know that she needs the anti-virus to get rid of the T-virus so what's the point of-" Said Franky but got interrupted by Sanji
-
"The same thought crossed my mind when I first saw that document, however, they've mentioned what kind of supplies do you need to make the anti-virus for emergency cases, So I specifically brought this research to someone I know who would do a great job in this area." Smiled Sanji as he looked at Chopper

"Me?" Questioned Chopper and Sanji nodded

"Yes, its you Chopper, I'm sure that you'll be able to make Y/N-chan the anti-virus by reading those supplies" confirmed Sanji as he handed the document to Chopper

"You can trust me, I'll make this anti-virus no matter what, and I'll save Y/N's life, but first..." Said Chopper

"Hmmm?" Everyone were confused
-
"Nami will keep an eye on Y/N, if you noticed anything worng going on with her, please tell me immediately. And I want Robin to come and help me a bit while I treat Sanji, so I can start preparing the anti-virus"

"Listen, don't cause any noise or chaos around, Y/N needs to rest and Chopper needs to focus, okay guys?" Lectured Nami the rest and they nodded like 5 years old

Few minutes later, Chopper quickly treated Sanji's injuries, and went immediately to prepare the anti-virus, the rest of the Strawhats were calmly doing their mini tasks to pass the time. Therefore, Leon stood in the ship's broadtail viewing the ocean with tons of thoughts on his mind, he snapped out of it once he felt the tapping on his shoulder, turning around, it was no one other than Sanji offering him a soft drink.

"Thanks...but How's your injury?" Asked Leon

"Its not that bad, I've experienced worse than this" Sanji let a slight laugh out, knowing about the 3 ribs he broke aside of the visible injury

"I'll ask Y/N to go with me once she recovers from the T-virus" stated Leon after few minutes of silence

"W-What do you mean? She's our-"

"Your crew mate and your girlfriend, I know that..."
-
"Then what else do you mean by taking her with you"
-
"I have feelings for her"
-
"... W-what?"
-
"But don't tell her...She doesn't see me in that way anyway...however, I'll give it try, although I know what her answer would be, you won't stop a hopeless man don't you?"

"..."

"C'mon don't give me that face...I won't take her from you, I'll just do it because I know I might not be able to see her again...I have lots of regrets in my life, but I don't want Y/N to be one of them"

"I see....glad that Y/N-chan had someone like you by her side before we showed up in her life"

"And I'm glad that she found someone she can rely on while I couldn't be, it kinda makes me mad and sad to know that another man took her away from me, but as long as she's happy and smiling, I can be happy too, even if it was from a far"

" You can have the documents that are with Chopper as well, of course if he doesn't want them anymore"

"That would be a great help too"

Half an hour later, the two gentlemen finished their talk, and they heard Chopper calling out each one for a quick meeting. Everyone alongside Nami who was watching you gathered around Chopper, he took a step ahead and gulped nervously.

"What's the matter Chopper-san?" Asked Brook

"Everyone.... The anti-virus is ready, but..." Stuttered Chopper

"But what? Is there something wrong?" Asked Usopp
-
"Its hasn't been tested yet, so I'm not sure how effective it will be on her, there may be side effects to it too, so to Sanji Leon specifically...Are you too willing to inject her with the anti-virus dose?"

"I trust you and so do Y/N-chan...I know that it will work well, I hope so..." reassured Sanji to Chopper

"Alright then...I'll head over to the sick bay now" Said Chopper and everyone nodded

Chopper knocked on the door and came inside, he approached and looked worriedly at you, you noticed that in his eyes so you gave him a weak smile.

"Y/N...I've made the anti-virus, and its here with me, but-"

"Its not tested yet and you're afraid that it might not work on me right?"

"I may have overheard you a little while ago when you spoke to the rest"

"Chopper...I know you've did your best while making this, and I trust your skills more than anything else, besides, I don't think my body can stand against the virus any longer, haha..my life couldn't any worse"

You nodded and Chopper brought the needle closer to your skin, until you felt the needle pricking deeply, god how many needles have pricked your skin today, you wondered. For the first few minutes, it sounded like the anti-virus didn't do anything to you, but soon a stroke of pain rushed to your whole body, it felt like an electricution, as a result you began squirm and whimper loudly again. Chopper couldn't help but call your name in panic, while Sanji and Leon immediately broke in to the sick bay.

"I KNEW IT!! I KNEW THAT THIS ANTI-VIRUS IS A FAILURE!!!" Blamed Chopper himself

"Chopper wait! Look at her face!!!" said Sanji as he noticed the dryness and moldiness fading away from your face

"The anti-virus ....ITS WORKING!" Exclaimed Leon in relief

It was only the matter of few minutes before you calmed down and went back to your normal state, breathing steadily. You slowly opened your eyes, bracing yourself with your hands to sit up, once your eyes fell on the three, you saw a shocked expression on their faces, they were basically staring at you in disbelief.

"Y/N!!!!!" Cried Chopper as he jumped to hug you

And out of sudden, the two gentlemen jumped over you, both hugging you tightly, as if you're going to disappear if they let go.

"S-Sanji??! L-Leon?!!" You called surprised but you immediately smiled and hugged them back.

Once everything was settled and went back to normal, All of the Strawhats were gathering around while you told them everything about yourself, your past, things you've never told them because of your selfish self, because you wanted to forget, however hiding that from them only caused you problems and drove your friends to unnecessary danger. Soon, a beeping sound echoed around, everyone went silent at it, however it was nothing but Leon's radio device, he received a message from Hunnigan informing him that a helicopter will arrive soon to take him back as an end the mission. He got up from Sunny's grassy ground, crouched infront of you and took both of your hands in his, while Sanji just stood their, puffing the cigarette's smoke.

"I don't know when I'll be able to see you again, but please be careful and take good care of yourself" he said giving you a forehead kiss

"OI!!" Said Sanji under his breath at Leon's sudden action

"You too Leon... Please be careful", You replied, tears forming in your eyes

"Oh come on, don't cry sweetie, it will make it harder for me to leave" he teased and you chuckled

Shortly afterwards, someone in the helicopter lowered the rope ladder to Leon, he gave you another quick hug before taking and climbing to the middle of it. You all watched him, Sanji came closer wrapping his arms around your waist from behind, as if he's telling you that he's by your side.

"Y/N!!!!" Called Leon from up

"YES?!" You answered

"YOU'VE FOUND YOURSELF GREAT PEOPLE!! BUT MY OFFER WILL BE VALID ANY TIME, IF YOU CHANGED YOUR MIND, LET ME KNOW AND I'LL COME TO YOU EVEN IF YOU WERE IN THE OTHER HALF OF THE WORLD." he said and you nodded

"AND THANK YOU GUYS FOR TAKING CARE OF HER, I'LL LEAVE HER UNDER YOUR CARE ONCE AGAIN!!" he said waving his hand as the helicopter slowly departured away disappearing into the horizon.

As Soon as Leon left, the Strawhats pulled up the anchor and started sailing again, and that's due to the undeads and infected animals  wandering near by. Later that night, Sanji refused to sleep away from you, so you suggested to bring the extra mattresses hidden in the storage room, and decided to sleep in the aquarium with Sanji for that night. The two you layed down in each other's embrace, Sanji wrapped his arms around you protectively and you snuggled to him.

The rain hadn’t let up from the moment it began to pour down.
Which should not have been a problem in the first place… the Straw Hats have their very own weather expert-slash-navigator extraordinaire after all.
If only said weather expert-slash-navigator extraordinaire didn't get distracted, arguing with a certain green-haired swordsman.
"This is your fault!" Nami complained, rubbing her arms with her hands in a poor attempt to keep the emerging chill away.
​Somehow satisfied, she folded her arms across her chest as she sulkily glared at the rain which has now completely turned into a steady downpour.
​Luckily she was able to pull the man with her towards an alcove in the town's wall before they got drenched. It was an uncomfortable fit, as they were almost pressed to each other, but it'll do.
​Zoro was snarling beside her. "This rain is MY fault?" He huffed. "Right! It's my fault coz I absolutely can make it rain on a whim!"
Nami turned sharply towards him, glaring daggers. "If you hadn't gotten lost—" 
"I DON'T GET LOST!" 
"—like the idiot that you are," she continued ignoring Zoro's outburst, deliberately raising her tone and effectively drowning his retort with her shrill voice. "Then we wouldn't be stuck in here ZORO!" Her voice jumped another octave when she said his name. "In. HERE!" She repeated the words, making sure to emphasize them and hoping to drill it straight into his thick, dumb skull. 
"Tch! Then you shouldn't have followed me!" The former bounty hunter groused.
​"Besides, aren't you supposed to be good at predicting the weather?" He commented sardonically. "Shouldn't you have known that it’s going to rain today?" 
Nami gaped at him disbelievingly. ​And heat rose to her cheeks.
​She gave his shin a good kick for that.
​​"Ite!" 
​"I know that!" Nami practically shrieked at him. "That's why I followed you here to tell you about it! Is this the thanks I get from making sure you don't get your dumb self lost in this island while a storm is brewing?!"
"Again woman, I DON'T GET LOST!" Not the one to be deterred, Zoro raised his own voice to match hers. "And damn it! Stop kicking me!"
​"Bullshit!" The ever-feisty navigator exclaimed. "That a load of crap and you know it!"
​She angrily poked his chest with her finger. "If I leave you to your own devices... We. Would. Never. Find. You!" She punctuated each word with a prod on his torso. As if that would actually make the idea sink unto him. "I don't want Luffy and Chopper whining about how you are lost and that we should find you!
​Zoro grabbed her hand to stop her from poking a hole in him. Grasping it firmly he all but shouted back at her. "I will be fine! I will find my way back to the Sunny!"
“Hah! Fat chance of that happening!” 
​They were almost nose to nose by this time; all the while scowling at each other, both waiting for the other to back down.
Now only the sound of the rain falling heavily down the soaked earth can be heard as they continued their stare off. Along with the sharp intake of breaths coming from the two of them because honestly, their shouting matches can be quite arduous.
​As the glowering continued; Zoro thought he caught a glint, a spark from behind Nami's eyes before those warm brown orbs widened.
​In what could only be a realization that their current position is leaning towards… precarious. It was also not helping that his own eye had darted all over her face, taking in the flush on her cheeks. Despite it coming from indignation, she still looks...
 ... pretty.
​He almost choked at his thoughts. When did he turn into that shit cook?
Zoro inhaled sharply and realized what a wrong move that was. He caught a whiff of Nami’s signature scent. Sweet with an undertone of zestiness that reminds him of her mikan fruits at their peak of ripeness—that certain moment that makes you want to steal one so you can taste them...
​The color on her face deepened and Zoro wasn't sure if it was because she was getting angrier and angrier by the minute.
Or... If it was because she saw that his stare lingered for more than a second or two at her lips. ​"Screw this!" He grunted, instantly averting his gaze. He felt his face heating up and to get out of their rather 'awkward' situation, he immediately resorted to his favorite defense mechanism whenever he faces off against this orange-haired devil incarnate.
Losing his temper on her. 
"You are not my keeper woman!" He snapped at her before immediately stepping out of their sanctuary and into the rain.
That made Nami snap to attention. "Hey!"
​Without another word Zoro turn around and started walking away from her despite the torrential rain.
WALKING. AWAY. FROM. HER.
While it’s raining cats and dogs. 
 "Zorooo!!!" He heard Nami screeched his name, horrified that he would actually leave her alone. There was no way he was getting back in there with her. Not when it occurred to him that he was only a second away from grabbing her...
...and kissing her.
​He walked in faster strides when she called him again. He had to get away from her. He needed to get away from her.
Far away.
​Because honestly she was driving him crazy lately with all these thoughts of wanting to kiss her surfacing every moment whenever he was with her.  
And who knows what the repercussions are? This is Nami they're talking about. She would probably sic ero-cook and even Luffy if he dared to even try. Or rat him out to either Robin or Usopp or both.
Or charge him more than what his current bounty is.
He winced at that.
​For now he needed to get away and calm himself so he can reflect...
​There was no warning as something collided at his back, almost making him stumble down the wet ground.
Did someone just attack him?
​But the presence wasn't threatening, even if its arms were wrapped around his neck in a chokehold, throttling him.
"YOU DID NOT JUST LEAVE ME ALONE THERE RORONOA ZORO!" Nami deliberately yelled at his ear, probably making his ear drum shatter and rendering him forever deaf. In a split second the Supernova realized that Nami… had jumped him.
​"Hey! Get off witch!"
"No!" "Get off!" "I said no!"
​"Get off now or I'll--"
Her hold around his neck tightened. "Or you'll what?" Nami hissed right in his ear in a tone so dangerously low that an actual chill ran down Zoro's spine. He gave her arm a light slap, a silent gesture to loosen her hold because she was cutting off his air. When she didn't relent, he effortlessly bounced her up his back.
​With a squeak of surprise, her arms slackened and he was able to finally draw in some air.
Nami’s hands grabbed at his shirt in an attempt to prevent herself from slipping from his back. Zoro tried to shake her off him. But the cat burglar swiftly clung onto him by locking her legs around his waist.
His remaining eye widened at that. 
"Nami!"  ​ "Stop trying to shake me off Zoro!" Nami protested as she held on to him tightly. Her knee knocked against his katanas and he scowled. "Then stop strangling me damn it!" "You deserve it you ass! Leaving me alone like that! Wait until the others hear about this you brute!" ​ Zoro muttered an expletive under his breath. Nami is a real witch!
He can feel her sliding down his back again. She was having a hard time clinging onto him because his shirt and her arms and legs were all wet from the rain water.
"I'm charging you for all these Zoro!" She muttered against his ear, her breath hot against his skin… a stark contrast from the cold rain water falling down on them. "The hell you are!" He managed to retort. She was speaking from his blind side and even as he tilted his head, he cannot see her face or her expression.
The next thing he knew… her fist had descended on his head.
“The hell! Why did you hit me?!”
“Because you are a moron.”
“That’s it get off me!”
“No!!”
​They continued struggling against each other, right in the middle of the rain that was soaking them to the bone.
​And Zoro realized then and there that Nami was quite nimble. She had quickly managed to change her position from his back to his side with her legs still locked around him.
He really didn't know what to do with that information, except it's going to be really handy once he gets the chance to...
​​​Fuck! ​​ She had hit him on the head with her fist ​again.​ That’s twice already.  Why are her punches hurting him so much? Was it clad in haki?? "Argh! Nami stop it!" He tilted his head towards her so he can growl and glare at her all at the same time.
She just gave him a haughty serves-you-right grin.
In retaliation he bounced her against him again. 
​Which was a wrong move. Because all it did was rubbed her breasts against him and press her closer to him.
It was a good thing the rain was drowning them.   Though it did made her yelp in surprise. He’s good with that.
​"Argh! Stay still Zoro! I swear if you drop me down I'm going to—"
“To what?” His steely eye met hers. This time it was his turn to challenge her.
Nami’s hold around his neck tightened, probably because her grip on him was slipping again because she was just as wet as he is and also because she still wants to choke the shit out of him for leaving her alone earlier.
She lifted her chin slightly so she could gaze back at him even as the rain water continued trickling down her face.
Was it just him or Nami’s quite comfortable where she is right now?
He knew she was trying to give him the evil eye. But it was hard to do that when the droplets of rain keep clinging to her lashes and she had to blink them away in a manner that affects him greatly.
And there was it… that familiar glint, that spark he saw when they were back in the alcove taking shelter from this rain.
“Look Zoro,” she finally sighed. “I just wanted to make sure you will come back to the Sunny in one piece and not get stranded in this weather."
​Zoro blinked. He was not expecting that.
​Then his face broke into a smirk. "You're getting sappy witch. Sounds like you care about me."
“Y-y-ou!” She stammered.
He grinned at her as she sputtered, her face turn absolutely and adorably red.
To think, he actually high-tailed it out of there earlier with his tail between his legs all because he can't face the realization that he wanted this woman.
But there was no denying it now. Amidst this rain it was very clear. That was all he needed.
He finally decided to take a chance instead of running away from it like a coward. ​
He tucked a strand of her wet hair behind her ear. "You can punch me or charge me later Nami," was all he said before he pressed his lips on hers.
Her body jerked in surprised. His arm instantly wrapped around her waist to secure her as one of her hands grasp at his shirt tightly.
​He swore he heard and felt her murmur 'oh fuck' against his lips before she deepened their kiss.
​They pulled apart slightly for air. Zoro hauled her up a little and Nami was about to lean down to for another kiss…
“A-choo!”
They looked at each other in surprise. Nami’s hand automatically covered her mouth as her face turned red again… this time for a very different reason.
“Ehem!”
They both turn their heads towards the sound and saw an elderly man standing a few feet away from them under an umbrella.
He was shaking his head as he looked at them.
“You youngsters should just get a room you know. You risk getting sick doing things out here in the open that should be done privately.”

Straw Hats With A Shipmate Who Feels Useless

A/N : this was really sweet and sad to me when I thought about it so I wanted to write it. Hopefully y’all enjoy.
Summary : The Straw Hats react to their shipmate feeling useless and a burden to the crew.
You didn't understand why you were still on the ship.
The group had just left from Water 7 with a new recruit, Franky, Robin came back, Usopp had returned to join the crew once more and you all just managed to get past the marines.
Throughout the whole time on Water 7 and Ennies Lobby, the goal of retrieving Robin back from CP-9 from Lucci and the marines, you were completely of no help at all.
Literally. You couldn’t help Nami and Sanji with their separate battles with the CP-9 members, you couldn’t aid Chopper and Franky with their battles, Zoro and Sniper King with the cuffs and two CP-9 Zoan agents, and MUCH LESS, Luffy with Lucci.
You spent the whole time just struggling to get past the chaotic mess from Franky’s family, trying to find where Robin was, and let’s not even start on trying to even find your way through the maze of the building you were in.
When you found Zoro and Sniper King, you tried to aid them by attacking the Zoan agents to the best of your ability, but it didn’t take long for them to knock you out.
Then with Sanji who was completely soaped up from Khalifah and Nami currently fighting against her, you tried to help Sanji return to normal but only ended up just freaking out and growing frustrated that you weren’t able to do anything so you left him to find the others to help.
When the crew finally made it to the top, where Robin was free and Luffy still fighting with Lucci, you constantly needed to be protected by Zoro, Robin and Franky since you weren’t aware of your surroundings.
When the whole thing was finally over, getting back to Water 7, you just kept to yourself to deal with your injuries, refusing Chopper’s help with a simple smile.
“I’m fine, Chopper. Focus on the others and yourself. You worked hard.”
And then you would avoid them throughout the several days, waiting until Luffy finally convinced Franky to join them on their newly built ship, the Thousand Sunny.
Of course by then, the others got over the whole chaotic mess and were just relaxing. But the thought and memory kept eating at you and you couldn’t relax at all.
Not wanting to bother others, you only kept quiet most of the time and would offer small smiles to them so they wouldn’t worry.
So here you were.
Chopper was in the medical bay with Robin, Nami in the kitchen with Sanji and Luffy, Franky and Usopp on the main deck together, and you were sitting, leaning against the railing, continuously thinking about the events that had occurred.
Unable to stop the deep frown that forms upon your lips, you glance down to the floor of the ship, bringing your hands to your head and knees to your chest with your elbows resting upon them.
"You can stop that now."
Hearing a sudden voice snaps you out of your thoughts and you glance beside you, seeing Zoro with his arms crossed and eyes closed.
"Oh, Zoro.. I didn’t see you there."
Zoro opens an eye and stares at you, ignoring your comment. "You’ve been quiet ever since Ennies Lobby. If it’s about what happened, who cares. Whatever’s bothering you though, we’re here to listen. So don’t keep it to yourself and just tell us."
You purse your lips and turn back to the floorboards. "There’s nothing on my mind, Zoro. Sorry if it seems that way, I’m probably just feeling tired, so I-"
Zoro only stood up and made his way over, you watching him crouch down in front of you with a rather serious expression with narrowed eyes. “What is it?”
By then, the others were all outside on the deck, staring and listening in from where they were.
No one said a word to interrupt, just listening in since they too, noticed how quiet and different you’ve been acting.
You just bit your lip before looking up at him with a smile. “I’m fine, Zoro!”
You stand up and brush off your clothes before smiling at the others who were watching. “I’m okay, I’m just feeling tired lately is all. I’ll go get some sleep.”
Luffy stares blankly at you, the others not convinced either but they didn’t say anything as they watch you begin heading to the bedroom.
When you finally close the door, you lean against it silently before biting your lip and clenching your jaw.
You were silent for a moment, thoughts running through your mind.
‘Even the others are starting to notice huh?’
Unable to hold back the tears forming in your eyes, you silently let them fall as you clenched your fists and held your head down in shame and humiliation.
‘Why did Luffy invite me onto his ship? I’m not fit for a pirate life. I much less don’t deserve to be on the ship of the future Pirate King..’
You punch the ground hard, feeling your knuckles throbbing with pain and a bit of blood forming as you continued to punch the ground in frustration.
‘Damn it, damn it, damn it! Why me?!’
You continued to sit there and cry in silence, unable to stop the flowing tears as you bask in the misery you held.
Unknown to you, the members could hear clearly of your not so silent cries and anger with punching the ship. None of them said anything.
Deciding that it was enough, you knew what you had to do tomorrow.

When you woke up from your bed the next day, you were dehydrated and exhausted. You ended up crying yourself to sleep after crawling into bed.
So you got up, made sure your face was washed so it wasn’t so puffy and red. After you deemed yourself decent, you headed up to the kitchen where you found the crew eating.
They all turn to you in silence, a few offering smiles to which you return with your own small one and began heading to the fridge. Sanji was washing dishes, Zoro and Franky sitting on the couch whilst the others sat at the table.
It was quiet.
You open the fridge and grab a bottle of water, opening it up and taking a sip before exhaling softly.
You grip the bottle in your hand after you closed it tightly and then spun on your heel to face the crew, giving them your best smile.
“Hey! So..”
They all look to you, listening closely to see what you had to say.
“Yeah?” Nami asks with her sweet smile, patiently waiting. “What’s up?”
You saw how kind they were towards you, making you chew on your lower lip at their kind expressions.
It made you hesitate on your next words, but you knew you had to.
“Um.. the next time we go stop at an island..” you awkwardly shift your weight to the other foot as you cleared your throat, trying to recollect your thoughts.
“Can..can I maybe stay there? I can stay at the island, or maybe find a trade ship that docks there and ask if they can stop at another island or something!”
Silence overtook the crew.
They certainly weren’t expecting you to say that. They did expect you to insist that you were okay, or maybe talk to them about what happened yesterday.
They never would’ve thought that you would suggest for yourself to leave the crew.
“..No.”
Everyone turns to the owner of the voice, to see their captain with his head lowered and his hat sitting tightly on his head.
“Luffy?” You furrow your brows at his sudden rejection to your suggestion. “Why?”
“You’re asking me why? I already said no, I refuse to let you leave!” Luffy looks up as he shouts, eyes narrowed at you. The outburst startling the crew.
“Why not? I don’t belong here! I’m not fit to be a pirate, much less this one! I don’t understand why you want me here when I’m of no use!”
After having dealt with Usopp’s argument and leave of the crew in the beginning of Water 7, the crew definitely didn’t have the heart to handle another situation like that.
“What the hell are you talking about, [Name]?! I invited you into my crew because I liked you and the crew likes you, so of course you belong here!” Luffy argues, clenching his fists. He didn’t want another repeat of Usopp’s situation either.
“[Name]-Chan, lets calm down and talk this over.” Sanji reasoned, Nami nodding her head in agreement. “[Name], it’ll be okay, lets—“
Usopp couldn’t say anything, the memory of his own event flashing in his eyes and the regret running through his mind.
Chopper was too afraid to interject, tearing up at the thought of you leaving.
Robin frowns slightly, closing her eyes and waited to see what else would happen before stepping in.
Franky was the newest recruit and didn’t think it was his place to stop anything happening yet, but if it grew further, he’d step in.
Zoro was just silent, his eyes closed, but you could see how tense he was.
“Luffy, please! I’m telling you, I’m just useless here! I have no place on this ship. I’m not a cook, a navigator, an archaeologist, a sniper, a swordsman, a shipwright, a doctor and I’m not a muscian!.... I.. I don’t belong here, Luffy.. please.”
Tears welled up in your eyes as you drop your arms to your side, clenching your fists tightly that your nails dug into your own skin to make it bleed.
The others were stunned, unable to say anything as Luffy was growing even more irritated and annoyed with you. “Shut up, [Name]. You’re pissing me off.” He bluntly stated, shocking the others.
He widens his glare at you as he stood up. “YOU’RE MY FRIEND! IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU DONT HAVE ANY SPECIAL POSITION HERE! YOU’RE ON THIS SHIP BECAUSE YOU’RE OUR FRIEND AND WE’RE YOURS, RIGHT?!”
Hearing his words made you gasp as you shut your lips and felt your tears falling faster at it, Luffy getting ready to lunge at you but Franky and Sanji held him back.
“SO STOP CRYING AND DON’T EVER THINK OF YOURSELF AS A BURDEN! I’LL SCREAM IT TO YOU AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS EVERYDAY UNTIL YOU FINALLY REALIZE IT! WE WILL NEVER MAKE YOU CRY TEARS OF SADNESS BECAUSE WE’RE YOUR FRIENDS! ANYONE WHO MAKES YOU SAD IS GONNA FEEL MY WRATH AND I’LL KILL THEM!”
You sobbed harder at his words, dropping to your knees as you brought your hands up to your face to cover it. The bottle long forgotten as the others just stare and Luffy finally calmed down, panting heavily.
They turn to you with small smiles.
“He’s right, [Name].” Nami says softly, Robin nodding along. “Yes. We’re always by your side. You are always our friend, and always welcomed here.”
Nami stood up and began making her way over to your side, crouching down beside you and wrapped an arm around your neck. She smiles brightly at the sight of you sobbing at their kindness.
Franky started tearing up, wiping his eyes. “HOW EMOTIONAL!”
Chopper and Usopp were also sniffling, trying their best to not cry but they couldn’t help it.
Snot already running down their nose as Chopper jumped down and lunges himself into you, clinging on, with his own loud sobs filling the room.
Sanji and Zoro only smiled at their captain’s effect and your figure, knowing that you finally learned how your crew and friends felt.
Suddenly, you felt a hand on top of your head, ruffling up your head a bit and you slowly glance up to see Zoro pressing his hand down on you, a small smirk present on his lips.
"No one is at fault. No one is useless on this ship. The captain invited you onto his ship because you are our friend, someone he cares about and would risk his life for. Everyone on this ship would risk their lives for each other, even if it meant death. You are now part of our crew so that means you too. So don't ever say those words again."
Listening and agreeing with the swordsman, they all offer you their signature smiles, your eyes widening more at them as you wipe your tears.
Seeing their contagious smiles, you couldn’t help but give your own genuine smile through your tears.
"Thank you.. everyone.”
Luffy, no longer feeling the anger from just moments prior, secures the hat on top of his head before grinning widely at you.
“Of course!”
You weren’t a burden. You weren’t useless. There was always a place for you here. You were part of their family, and they’d die for you.

Prompt 2: “In case we don’t make it back...” (Law x Reader) SFW

Synopsis: in the weeks leading up to the events at dressrosa, you find yourself falling for the brooding heart pirates captain. the odds aren’t good. so, in case you don’t make it back...

Dressrosa is a hellscape. But only you seem to know it. Everyone around you seems to be content with the facade that has been created--no one ever asks questions, everyone is always smiling. But you know better. You know just how dark the underbelly of this place really is. Everyone seemed to love the Donquixote family--adored them, in fact. From the saccharine persona of Sugar, to the repulsive Trebol, all the way up to the pink bastard himself, Doflamingo--everyone cherished them. The protection that a warlord could provide a country couldn’t be discounted to them, though many of  the citizens of Dressrosa had given their sentient lives for it. But you hoped that one day, the people of Dressrosa would see that though their god wore bright clothing, his soul was nothing but darkness. 
Two Weeks Prior
You’d known of the Strawhat pirates for a while now, keeping track of their movements. Their captain is reckless, but determined to take down Doflamingo, which worked in your favor, certainly. The news of their alliance with warlord colleague, Trafalgar Law was, you admit, a surprise. But you’d been intrigued by the inked captain, so you decided to take advantage of the opportunity and introduce yourself. 
He and the Strawhat captain, Monkey D. Luffy, seemed to be in an argument when you first saw him at the docks. Well, a more apt description might be that Law was arguing with Luffy, who seemed very unconcerned with his ally’s thoughts.
You walk closer, not wanting to alert them to your presence quite yet. As you approach, you hear what they’re arguing about.
“Will you just listen to me, idiot?” Law gritted through his teeth. “This plan is insane, it is not going to work.”
“Lighten up, Tra-guy,” Luffy replied easily, grinning as he slapped a hand on Law’s shoulder. 
He shoved Luffy’s hand off with a huff. “Lighten up?” You took a step closer. “Lighten up?” He asked again, his voice increasing in volume. “Do you little shits have any idea who this guy is? He’s a warlord.” He paused, a sad, distant look on his face, 
“He’s right,” You said, finally within earshot of the two pirates. Their heads snapped to you, alarmed at the interruption. 
“Who the hell are you?” Law said, narrowing his eyes. His body followed the direction of his head, and he now faced you squarely. Now fully upright, you could see just how tall  he was, standing nearly two heads above his pirate ally. Your eyes were drawn to his striking features--dark eyes, dark hair, dark whorls of ink on his exposed skin. You were particularly drawn to his hands. Long fingers stained with black tattoos, the fingers you knew were capable of bringing a person to their knees with just a simple gesture. Room.
You knew he was handsome from his wanted poster, but damn, it did not fully capture the brooding magnetism that you saw in front of you right now. 
“I’m y/n,” You finally replied, closing the gap between you and the pair. “I live here, in Dressrosa.” 
Luffy began to talk, but Law clapped his hand over Luffy’s mouth, silencing him. “Shut up,” Law said with a clenched jaw. Luffy grumbled, trying to rip Law’s hand away.
You dropped your weapon in a show of good faith.. “Just hear me out. Please.” You needed to convince Law (Luffy didn’t seem like he needed much convincing) that you were on their side. Any side that was equally interested in annihilating the Don Quixote family. 
Law looked at you suspiciously, and signaled for you to continue talking. You explained everything to them. You explained how you’d come here to Dressrosa after escaping capture. You’d made a life for yourself, selling your wares at the market in town. Seeing walking toys was jarring, to say the least, but what was even more jarring was the fact that no one seemed to be asking any questions about it. In fact, the citizens of Dressrosa seemed to be downright chirpy. It made your skin crawl. And Doflamingo was too revered, despite his seedy grin and disreputable demeanor. 
So you did some digging, you told them. And you’d inadvertently discovered the awful secret of the country. It all made sense, and it made you despise the oligarchy even more. There were a few that were a part of the underground rebellion, to whom you swore your allegiance. When you found out that Trafalgar Law had potential plans to overthrow the man who once enslaved him, you were practically writhing with vigor and excitement at the prospect. 
The captains listened closely, not interrupting once. Even the rambunctious Strawhat was rapt with attention. When you finally finished your tale, you leaned against the rocky cliff face at the mouth of the dock, waiting for a reaction. 
After a few moments of silence, you spoke again, hoping that with these next words, your trust would be earned. “I’m sorry about Corazon. I didn’t know him personally, but I’ve heard him discussed. It seems like he was a great man.” 
Law’s face went pale at the sound of his friend’s name, and Luffy looked over to him with a puzzled look. But even Luffy could tell that this was not something to ask about right now. He’d never seen Law look like this before. 
He was silent for a long few minutes, and you began to regret your decision. Maybe mentioning Corazon wasn’t the right move. Damn it, damn it, damn it. You needed their trust. Their help. The very lives of the people in this country depended on garnering this rapport.
“Look, I’m sorry. I should have mention--” You were cut off.
“The rebellion,” Law interrupted. “You have strong fighters?” 
Your heart leapt. Maybe this was actually going to work. “Yes, but we need more. Diamante has been on our ass for a few months, so we have a hard time maintaining our numbers.” 
You could see that he was considering, and after another second he said, “Take us to your base.”
That was two weeks ago. 
The plan was made, the date set. Tomorrow, you would join Law, Usopp and Robin in their journey to Green Bit. Aboard the Sunny, one would not think a deadly battle was looming over the pirates’ heads. You’d learned so much about the crew over the past few weeks, and it filled you with such a hope that you’d long denied yourself. 
The Strawhats are fearless, confident. So much so, that despite Law’s ever gloomy pessimism, you cannot find it within you to worry. For the first time since arriving in that dreadful place, you feel at home. You take a deep, cleansing breath in, and exhale fully. Luffy, Chopper and Usopp are restless waiting for the food that Sanji is preparing in the kitchen, jamming their chopsticks childishly into their own noses or ears. Nami smacks Luffy across the back of the head with an annoyed look, and Robin reads quietly to herself. Zoro leans against the side of the ship, a disgruntled look on his face and a bottle of sake in his hand. To Zoro’s right, there’s Caesar scowling petulantly, still confined by his sea prism stone handcuffs.  Franky is waiting for dinner below deck, refueling the ship with cola from the last Coup de Burst, while Brook blankets the whole evening with tinkling violin music. 
The only one missing, you notice looking around, is Law. Standing up from your spot, you approach Zoro and snatch the sake out of his hand abruptly and take a swig. Rather than giving it back, you keep it with you, walking away too quickly for Zoro to object (though you can hear him grumbling irritatedly from behind you, before he calls for another bottle). 
You climb the steps to the helm, and notice him alone at the stern of the ship, leaning over the banister. He doesn’t notice you at first, allowing you an extra few silent moments to stare at him from behind. It’s an usually warm evening, so he isn’t wearing his heavy cloak, opting for black long-sleeved t-shirt, which he has cuffed up to his elbows. With his forearms exposed, you can see how his tattoos wind around the sinews there, seeming to underline toned bands of muscle under the skin. Your eyes rove his back, which is visible through the fitted black shirt. His broad shoulders narrow to a thin waist, and he stretches his arms above his head, exposing a sliver of skin from his lower back. 
You’d been so occupied by the sight of his body, you almost didn’t notice another striking difference in his appearance. Normally covered by his ridiculous mushroom hat, his shaggy hair is exposed and rustling in the salty breeze. He reaches a hand up to run through his hair, pausing to grip the hair at the back of his neck roughly, as if he was frustrated. You find yourself wondering if his hair is as soft as it looks under the light of the moon and the stars. You feel a coil tighten ever-so-slightly within your core, but you approach anyway.
“Don’t you want dinner?” You call, making sure you gave him plenty of time and space before you closed the gap between you completely. He stiffens momentarily, but relaxes as he hears your voice again. “Sanji should be almost done.”
He cranes his head over this shoulder toward you, but makes no effort to turn his body with it before turning his head back face forward, looking out onto the vast ocean. You stand next to him, leaning your elbows on the banisters as he was doing beside you. You offer the bottle of sake to him wordlessly. He takes it, drinking from it for a moment before handing it back to you. 
Though he does not indicate it, he appreciates your silence in moments like these. He never feels pressured to talk around you, to present fake niceties or meaningless chatter. He also, much to his horror, has found that he appreciates your company in and of itself. Your presence simultaneously calms and arouses his nervous system. He doesn’t understand it, but being the man of science that he is, he plans to observe and collect data. For research purposes, he tells himself. Only research purposes. 
“Not really hungry,” He replies, giving you a sidelong glance as you hang on the railing beside him. 
“C’mon, Law, what’s it been? Like three days since you last ate with us?” You jab him in the side in a way that you hope comes off as playful, though you really are becoming increasingly concerned with his disengagement.
He shrugs, neither in confirmation or denial. Over the time you’d spend together, you found yourself growing more and more attached to him daily. You found that you always wanted to have eyes on him, and were viscerally uncomfortable when he wasn’t around. Law, too, had become accustomed to some uneasiness with your absence, or his from you. He had no frame of reference for this feeling, and it scared him. But he wanted to understand it, needed to understand it. 
“You’re starting to worry me a bit,” You say, breaking him from his thoughts. You do your best to keep it lighthearted, but as he flinches a bit at the words, you realize that you have not been very lighthearted at all. 
Law hates that he cares about you, what you think of him. Even worse, he hates that you care about him. He knows from the way you look at him, recognizing your look of longing in his own eyes whenever he dared to look at himself in a mirror. But caring about him has only meant death for the people he’d cared about before. An image of Corazon’s bloodied body flashes through your mind and he cringes again. He casts his eyes downward and presses his mouth into a thin, tight line. 
“Hey,” You say softly. It breaks your heart to see him like this. You want him to feel better. You want to be the one that makes him feel better. You’re warm and brave from the alcohol you’ve consumed and you place a hand gently on his forearm. Recoiling from your touch, he inhales sharply. But you don’t remove your hand. 
“Hey,” You say again even more quietly, afraid that even a decibel too loud will scare the fragile husk away from you. “It’s going to be okay. Tomorrow, that is. We have a solid plan.”
Law finally dares to look at you. Like that first day that you met, his eyes are filled with dejection. He wants very badly to believe your words. Coming out of your mouth, they sound so sweet. Coming out of your mouth, he almost allows himself to yearn. To yearn for a way to change the past, but also to yearn for a new, and brighter future. 
“I’ve lost everyone I’ve cared about.” Law replies. “They’re all either dead, or so far from here that they may as well be, considering the fact that I will likely never see them again.” 
His voice drops to a whisper. “You know as well as I do, y/n. This mission has a very low chance for success.”
You don’t reply. You do know this. It is Doflamingo, afterall. But for some reason, his reply irks you more than it normally would.
“What the hell, Law?” Your irritation is clear in your voice. “Is it so difficult for you to be even a little positive? Is that really so unbearable?”
His eyes narrow. “When you’ve seen the shit that I’ve seen, yeah, it is really so unbearable.” He mocks your tone, making you fume.
“The shit that you’ve seen?” You raise your eyebrows. “The shit that you’ve seen? We’ve all seen shit we’d like to forget, Law! The only difference between you and all of us, is that we don’t carry that shit on our back like a fucking martyr all the damn time.” Your voice climbs to a yell, and it echoes across the dark water in the stillness of the night.
He hates that you’re right. Hates that he’s such a coward, and that he has a martyr complex to top it all off. 
“How arrogant you are,” You continue, your fury propelling you forward. “To believe that everything is always your fault. Sometimes life is just shit, Law. That’s all there is to it.”
Angry tears well up in your eyes, but you don’t back down. You refuse to look away. 
He is silent, but holds your gaze as intensely as you are holding his. You feel the air shift, anger slowly shifting into something altogether new. You notice, with sudden clarity, that you are close to Law. Very close. You are trembling, but he is too. A long, shuddering breath passes through his open lips. His breath smells faintly of the sake, the sweetness of the fruit mingling with the acrid scent of the alcohol itself. 
He places one hand on the railing behind you, brushing against your side as he does. “You’re right, y/n,” He says, never taking his eyes off of you. “Sometimes life is just shit.” 
He leans down and continues. “A lot of times life is just shit. And you can’t deny that this situation is shit too. We’re relying on a lot of variables to fall into place in just the right way, at just the right time, and in my life, that has pretty much never fucking happened.” His tone is hard. 
He is being drawn to you in a way that confounds him. As if he was possessed, he closes the final few inches between you. His chest and yours are pressed against one another, and the tattooed hand on the railing slowly drifts to the back of your head. He leans his forehead on yours and tangles his surprisingly delicate fingers in the strands of your hair.
“So,” He murmurs. Your heart is pounding so hard that you wonder if he has ripped it from your chest already. “In case life is as shit as it’s always been...in case we don’t make it back…”
His lips meet yours. At first, you can’t breathe. You freeze, but you feel him stiffen and try to pull away. He thinks he has made a huge mistake, ruining yet another good thing in his life with his egocentrism. But your hands grasp the fabric of his t-shirt, and pull him back into you, so his lips never leave yours. 
He sighs in relief, moving his mouth deliberately on yours. If this is the last night he has, he wants to make it worth something. He wants one night to be worth something. Your fingers unfurl from his shirt, and you slide your hands up his chest, finally wrapping your arms around his neck. One hand is at the nape of your neck, the other at the small of your back. 
There is not an inch of space between you, not a millimeter. Your lips and his fit together like he and misery always had. He allows himself to believe, just for this moment, that you could replace the misery in his life. He allows himself to believe that this won’t be your last kiss. He gives himself permission to believe that you and he would be here again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day after that.
For once, he grants himself the license to hope.

Law is still Shichibukai (for some reason) and meets with the others including Mihawk for government business or something. He learns he had a relationship with Zoro during the 2 years. Even though Law is in a relationship with him now Mihawk & Zoro never really ended theirs officially so Law gets jealous and competative
Right, I have to pass out. But here is part one of three of this magical tale.
Oh thank God someone else has thought of this because I think about this SO MUCH. Like, "what are you even doing with your life?" / "Oh, you know, mostly trying to set up a Mihawk/Zoro/Law love triangle." / "..... Just WHY?"
Because it'd be super hot that's why.
One dude whose super possessive, one who hates losing and one who's totally obvious to all that shit. are you kidding me? That was made for fanfic glory.
I don't know if I can do such a delicious thing justice in a "let's see if I remember how words work" post, but damn right I'll try it.
It's 2020. The world needs this you guys. And hopefully it inspires others to look deep within themselves and realize the Mihawk/Zoro/Law triangle was inside them all along.
To War Over You
"Why do I have to be here again? No offense, Torao, this whole thing sounds boring as hell."
Law closes his eyes and draws a deep breath; the best way to deal with any of the Strawhat crew if you didn't want it to end in bloodshed and a broken alliance. "Did you not understand the first three times I went over the situation, Zoro-ya? I don't know if I can explain it in any simpler terms without resorting to coloring books and grade school lessons."
It may have been a little snippy, but for as confidently as he struts down the hallways of the naval base just those side of Marie Joice, Law could never get use to having marines on either side, standing at every doorway, eyeing him suspiciously as they walk past him in the halls. He'd seen what these men would do given the orders or the chance, so despite how well he could hide behind a haughty mask and arrogant demeanor, Law can't help feeling once more like a frightened child on the run from these very same men.
He had fully expected to have to lead Zoro through the whole parade, tell him not to jump at the sight of every uniform (as is still, deep down, Law's immediately response) but the other swordsman comes off as almost entirely unaffected. He makes eye contact with passing marines as if daring them to question his presence or better yet try something. He doesn't even have a hand on his sword, a sure sign of the boy's nervousness. He walks next to Law, appearing utterly calm and unafraid and, well, bored.
It's giving Law a headache to be honest. Could one if the Strawhats even pretend to behave like normal pirates?
When Zoro's shoulder bumps against Law's he wonders, fleetingly, if this this is the part where Zoro finally admits how paranoid this whole scene leaves him.
They walk past a pair of marines like that, Zoro leaning into his shoulder practically hanging off Law, and neither men blinks an eye. In fact, they make a point of not even glancing up at the passing pirates, their conversation going quiet and their eyes locked to the floor until they've past. That's been the case more and more this visit; a complete change from the first time Law had been invited where even privates and ensigns felt confident enough to give him bad looks, expressions that clearly asked what one of his kind was doing there.
Zoro also waits until the heavy steps of the two marines are mostly out of earshot before he leans, somehow, even closer. Until Law can feel the boy's hot mouth up against his skin, heating the metal hoops in his ear. "I'm so sorry oh powerful warlord," Zoro teases because, since it really occured to him that Law is a Shichibukai - and apparently one the government is desperate to keep on their side - he couldn't seem to stop himself from mocking the title. If it were any other pirate, Law could have chopped them into parts and been done with it, but for whatever reason he allows the vice captain of the straw hats to get away with such insults. "I must have been distracted at the time."
Ah, yes. That's why.
Law ducks his head, as if attempting to hide a smirk as they go by another three marines - ensigns based on their uniforms and the way their eyes go wide before they scurry past. Ah, well, at worst they'll think he's planning something big, something illegal (which he is, though not for a while) though more than likely they'll just think that's how pirates are. Cocky and unafraid.
Law doesn't mind the reputation.
Of course, if they knew the real reason Trafalgar Law, pirate captain, worst generation, and Shichibukai looked so damn smug they probably would have hurried by all the faster.
Is it his fault that there is something so pleasing about taking a man with the reputation of Roronoa Zoro and having him on his knees and begging? Law can't help the spark of pride knowing that while most others couldn't even halt Zoro's steps were he determined to get by, Law could leave him sprawled out, exhausted, panting on the bed after being made to come a fourth time and yet in two hours he'd crawl into Law's lap, needy and impatient and wanting anything the older pirate would give him.
It's enough to make any man a little conceited. After all, how many can say they've reduced the pirate hunter to such a desperate state?
Law has every right to feel proud.
Still nearly climbing on top of Law even as they walked, Zoro takes the other man's ear in his mouth, tongue first warming the metal and then teeth pulling at the earrings. Law really should make him stop; they must have all sorts of surveillance inside the base. But he just can't find it in him to do more than find the most obvious of the recording snails stuck to the walls, offering it and whoever is lucky enough to be watching a cocky smile.
And because Zoro, like the most crew, doesn't seem to understand the idea of subtle, he follows the bite up with, "I guess having you fuck my mouth interests me more than some political bullshit. Hard paying attention to all this useless junk when your buried that deep in my throat."
It's not romantic. It's hardly even sexy. And yet even as Zoro slides back into his own space, Law can feel something in his gut start to tighten, to want. It had been such a mistake to bring the swordsman along, he should have known better.
Only he'd received a hint from a certain high ranking, unnamed inspector general that the navy knew he was harbouring at least some of the Straw hats on his ship (However did they find that out, Zoro-ya? Maybe if you didn't insist on fighting every battle ship you saw). He would still be expected to attend the meeting, of course, but if he did show up they would certainly search his ship for the pirates and, failing that, likely charge him all the same. Especially after they couldn't use the Doflamigo incident against him, in part thanks to Issho's very live, very unscripted broadcast.
It seemed obviously to Law that their best option is to claim these straw hats had made the decision to work under him (some more literally than others) which only left the matter of which one to bring, to show Law isn't afraid of their suspicious.
Robin could lie very well and would have easily been the best choice, except she was just as likely to stand in front of some of the top ranked marines and inform them that, in fact, she is still and will always be a Strawhat. And she'd say it with a smile. Franky... Well, no. Franky wouldn't last two minutes into an interrogation. Usopp could lie, but there's a chance he'd over do it, or simple break down at the sight of so many marines.
No, Zoro had been his best choice, which is a condemnation of his chooses really. He's just hoping the vice captain will be able to clentch his teeth and get through it.
As added incentive, Law made plenty of promises.... And threats. Depending, of course, on Zoro's ability to behave.
"What's the point of even calling you out here?" Zoro asks in an entirely casual tone, as if he hadn't just described sucking Law off. "Not like the government acts wants your opinion on anything."
Law has to admit Zoro's right, but after the near catastrophe at Dressrosa, Law is trying to play ball. If they haven't expelled him yet it's because they need something from him, and Law is determined to find out what. "Just do as I tell you and don't make a scene," Law says, knowing those two instructions are impossible for any strawhat to follow, perhaps especially this one. "So long as you don't-"
Suddenly, Law is no longer looking at Zoro but at the plain walls of the military base. Confused, he looks back to see Zoro has come to a stop in the middle of the hall. There is a dangerous grin pulling at his lips, one that Law would definitely be afraid of of he hadn't seen it so many times right before Zoro swallowed him whole. Now it just makes him lose his breath a little too fast, the heat in his gut pours through the rest of him, becoming something he can't control.
Expect Zoro isn't looking his way at all.
"Hawkeye," Zoro says simply, and while his voice is harsh his expression certainly isn't. "I forgot they still recognize you as a Shichibukai. When I defeat you then, do I get that title as well?"
Law jerks to look back so abruptly he feels a little sick, but sure enough there he is; fellow Shichibukai and world's greatest swordsman. A title that Law knows Zoro coverts, perhaps explaining the gleam in his eyes as he stares down the other swordsman. Though Law would have expected it to hold more.... Hostility. Instead, despite the seriousness of his tone and the challenge in his eyes, Zoro's lips keep twitching, unable to completely hide the a smile.
He's probably just happy to get this chance at a rematch. Not that Law is about to let that happen in the middle of a marine base. Zoro may be less than cautious and driven by his heart rather than solid reason, but he isn't that crazy.
.... Is he?
"Roronoa," Mihawk greets him formally and, again, his voice even and devoid of humour, and yet the older Shichibukai does nothing to hide his smile. "How strange to see the rabbit has wandered so far from its burrow."
Zoro wrinkles his nose before deciding to go for something slight more intimidating. "I told you not to call me that." He might try and pass it off as a growl, but honestly he sounds like a pouting child. It's cute, in a way.
In the way that it would have been cute, if it had been for Law.
Mihawk's smirk grows more amused, more cocky at Zoro's reply. "I seem to recall you didn't mind at times." Mihawk's long strides eat up the room between him and Zoro in a matter of seconds, and before Law even thought to be on guard the older man is leaning down, whispering something for only Zoro to hear.
Law may not know what exactly is said, but he recognizes the flush in the other boy's cheeks, the way his eyes go wide before falling half closed as he rocks, almost consciously, up onto his toes and closer to the one teasing him.
It's a state he's enjoyed putting the swordsman in in the past, one he's never had to witness as a third party.
When Mihawk has finished, Zoro is just a touch too pink and too breathless for Law's comfort. But it's the smirk on the older swordsman's lips when he pulls away that makes Law clench his fist and bite doesn't hard. If they weren't at this base, he's fairly certain nothing, not even his intelligence or will to survive, could stop him from casting a room and cutting Mihawk's heart out. At the least.
It's only after Mihawk has had his fun with Zoro that he looks up, his sharp golden eyes falling on Law. Law can only remember one other time the master swordsman has graced him with so much as a vague consideration; when he'd first arrived here, a newly appointed warlord. Mihawk had merely regarded him with nothing more than a passing glance before declaring he had more important things to attend to and making a swift, unapologetic exit.
Now, though, his eyes seem to study Law like he's preforming a dissection, seeing parts of him that Law would have thought impossible to see.
"Trafalgar," Mihawk uses the same even tone as he had with Zoro, only lacking in any signs of warmth as he had with Zoro. "I see you decided to join us after all." Before Law can point out that he could hardly deny the summon he had been sent, Mihawk's eyes are back on Zoro. "Am I to believe the rumours of you abandoning your captain are true then, Roronoa?"
Before Zoro can ruin their cover (Law can see it in his face and feel the aura around him, this refusal to deny his captain) Law is quick to leap in. "Zoro-ya is under me now, if that is what you're asking," Law snaps, perhaps with more bite than is necessary. And if his words can be taken more than one way, well, that's really up to the listener to decide. "Otherwise, why would I entrust him to accompany me to this summit?"

Chapter One
There must be something there that wasn’t there before.
‘It felt like she was dreaming.
For the last eight years she’d been living in sheer hell. Hope was a foreign concept when hers had been gunned down right in front of her eyes. At ten years old she was forced to grow up and take on the role of protector that Bellemere had previously played. Freedom became a legend she could no longer afford believe in.
Still, Arlong would offer it to her; keeping it just barely out of her reach so she’d obey his every order. If she drew enough charts, if she saved enough money -she could save her village. There was only a slim chance that she’d be successful and it would take a long time - but she didn’t care. She would do it. She had to, or else her mother would have died for nothing. 
Her future looked bleak, with only the tiniest pinprick of light shone at the end of the tunnel. Then... A teenager with devil fruit powers quite literally fell into her life bringing with him an explosion as bright as the birth of a star and suddenly - she was free. For the first time ever, somebody had showed up to defend her; to slay the monsters she never could.’
Nami sighed quietly, leaning one of her shoulders against the alley wall, observing the party her villagers had thrown to celebrate. The last time they’d felt joy like this she had only been as tall as Genzo’s knee, and their family was still whole. It felt indescribably wonderful to know that she would never have to worry about her home again. The Arlong pirates had been defeated and the prison she lived in destroyed. ‘She was safe now.’
Her gaze swept along the crowded street from face to smiling face until they landed on Luffy.
‘Luffy.’
Her heart surged into her throat like it did when she thought about Bellemere. How could she ever hope to express to him how grateful she was for what he did? ‘He would probably say, just buy me lots of meat.’ 
Nami’s lips quirked into half a grin. Luffy was so noble, and brave - and yet at the same time he was the goofiest human being she’d ever met. He made her smile. He’d protected her when she thought that the only person capable of that had been killed a long time ago. She didn’t have to fight alone; she’d never have to fight alone again so long as she had her friends.
‘Her friends… She had friends now.’
The navigator searched for them. She spotted Usopp standing on top of one of the tables near Luffy with his hands on his hips. He seemed to be spinning one of his less than truthful tales to entertain anyone who would listen. 
She found Sanji a little way further doting on Nojiko who looked amused. Her head shook side to side but she was grinning to herself.‘So typical of them.’  
Continuing her search, as there was one more crew member that she hadn’t seen since the battle, she frowned when she couldn’t find Zoro. ‘Maybe he was still being treated… He had been injured pretty horribly before he even got to Cocoyashi-“ 
Nami winced when the memory of her socking him in the gut and stomping on his chest flashed through her head. The look on his face, and his labored coughing as he doubled over... He must have been in an unimaginable amount of pain. ‘But that hadn’t stopped him from fighting with every last ounce of his strength to save them. To save her.’ 
She should apologize…
The navigator went to snag a bottle of sake from one of the tables laden with food and drink, then made her way towards Dr. Nako’s infirmary. The doctor probably didn’t want him drinking but it would make the swordsman happy – and she loved to see him smile.

Zoro was resting his eyes when he heard the clinic door open, but paid it no mind since he assumed the old man had come back to check on him. He listened to the footsteps as they crossed the room, but they were a lot lighter than the doctors. Click-clack, click clack, click clack.
‘They sort of sounded like heeled sandals.‘
“Zoro? Are you awake?”
‘Oh. It was Nami.’
His stomach did a little backflip, and his heart thundered just a bit faster. But he couldn’t let her know the effect she had on him or else she’d use him like that stupid cook. He pretended to be sleeping deeply but she didn’t leave. ‘Maybe he should say something mean to make her go away-‘
“I brought you a present.”
Now he was interested. Zoro cracked one eye open to see what she had for him and then grinned stupidly. “Sake!”
“I knew you were faking it,” she wrinkled her nose, lowering herself beside him on the mattress as he sat up to take the bottle from her. Almost instantaneously he cracked it open and gulped a couple mouthfuls down. “Jeez, would you have acknowledged me if I hadn’t brought you booze? You damn alcoholic.”
He narrowed his eyes at her because she better not have only come here to pick a fight with him – sake or not. “Don’t you try and guilt trip me, woman- hey!” Zoro yelped when Nami pinched his cheek, though it didn’t really hurt. He grabbed her hand and yanked it away from his face. ‘Knock it off.”
“I was only teasing you, dummy.” Her eyes shifted to his bare chest and traced their way down the length of the freshly stitched wound that crossed his entire torso. She still couldn’t believe he’d fought so valiantly in this condition. Sometimes the intensity of his ambition and determination were almost frightening.
“Do I need to put a shirt on, Nami? You look like you’re getting distracted.”
The smirk that dressed his face was so arrogant that she wanted to pinch him again but when she went to move her hand – he was still holding onto it, ‘Why did that make her feel like there were butterflies fluttering around inside of her?’ Nami turned her head to the other side as her face flushed with heat, hoping some of her hair would hide it.
Zoro gave her a quizzical look before he noticed his grip on her fingers. ‘Oh, shit. He was such a fucking idiot.’ Clearing his throat and bringing the bottle to his lips, Zoro let go of them hastily. ‘Just pretend it didn’t happen,’
“So… Why’d you come all the way over here to give me this, anyway?” He asked to change the subject, leaning towards the side table and setting the sake onto it.
Nami clasped her hands together in her lap, not yet turning her head because it felt like her face was getting hotter. “Well… Um. Actually…” she peeked at him, and he had one eyebrow cocked, “I came to say I’m sorry.”
“…..Sorry for what?”
‘Was he being serious?’ Nami finally looked at him and his expression was still stumped. “For punching you! And…” Her head bowed in shame, shoulders rounding as she went on, “And stomping on you, while you had an injury like this,” a deep frown began to settle into her mouth and forehead, “I should have known better, I should have guessed that you were injured pretty badly-”
“Nami.”
“-you were covered in bandages, after all, but I was so worried that they’d kill you if they thought we were friends-“
“Nami.”
“-so I hurt you to make it seem like I didn’t care about you, but I shouldn’t have hit you so hard, maybe if I’d been gentler you wouldn’t have been in so much pain-“
“Nami.” Zoro cut her off firmly and grabbed her shoulders, shaking her in a delicate manner and pulling her towards him. She finally lifted her head back up and looked him in the eyes, but hers were welled with tears that she was trying desperately not to shed. A sharp pang stabbed all the way through his heart. ‘Was she really crying because she felt so bad about hurting him? Did… She care about him that much?’
“It’s fine,” he murmured, sliding his hands down to her triceps and squeezing them tenderly as if to reassure her, “I’m fine, okay?”
Nami didn’t believe him for one second, but she didn’t have the energy to argue. Especially not when he was gazing at her with so much genuine concern written into his brow line. It surprised her. ‘Did he care about her so much that he was lying about the pain to ease her guilt?’
A tidal wave of intense affection crashed over her entire being. “Oh, Zoro-“ she cried out and tossed both of her arms around his neck, hugging him as tightly as she possibly could. Her chin found a perch on his shoulder. Tears squeezed out of her blinking eyes to clear her vision and dripped down her cheeks onto his skin.
Zoro sat there, frozen, having not at all expected her to do something like this. When she didn’t let go of him - he curved his arms around her waist, pressing one of his palms against her upper back. His head bowed slightly. and he leaned the side of his face on her hair, eyelids slipping closed. He wasn’t very good at comforting people with words, but he knew how to be a warm shoulder to cry on thanks to Luffy and his occasional night terrors.
For a few minutes no one said anything… They just held each other. Until Nami whispered something in a voice so quiet that he almost didn’t hear her. Almost.
“You’re my hero.”
His heart started to beat unevenly and his stomach did a double backflip. ‘Why was he so nervous all of a sudden?’
“…Nami,” she started to pull away from him but stayed close enough to rest her elbows on his trapezius muscles. His fingers splayed between her shoulder blades and pressed into her shirt. For some reason his voice rumbled like thunder when he spoke, “I’m not a hero...”
“You are to me.”
“……” The way she was looking at him stirred up far too many feelings for him to account for. Zoro’s gaze flickered down to her mouth then back to her eyes. ‘She was such a beautiful person. Not just her face, but the content of her character. Her soul. Kuina had been beautiful like that, too.’ 
Even though he knew he probably should, he didn’t want to let go of her. A burning flood of passion captivated him with the urge to kiss her. ‘Wait - kiss her?’ His heart jumped into his throat. ‘What?? Had he turned into the damn cook?!’
She was sitting so close to him, closer than she’d ever been in the past. He could count each of her freckles and draw constellations on them. If he tilted his head down, they’d knock foreheads. And she smelled so sweet… ‘Like freshly peeled tangerines.’
Nami watched his expression shifting steadily from one emotion to the next. ‘What was he thinking? Why hadn’t he pushed her away yet?’ Not that she wanted him to. Quite the opposite, actually. Her gaze darted to his lips when he wet them, then moved back up to find his eyes half-lidded. He unconsciously bumped the end of his nose against hers.
“Nami, I…”
Was... He going to kiss her?
“I..”
It certainly seemed like he wanted to. ‘Did she want him to?’ Nami shivered but not because she was cold. She’d never thought about kissing Zoro prior to this moment but now that she was… ‘She kind of wanted to kiss him, too. She kind of wanted to kiss him a lot.’ All he had to do was lift his chin a few more centimeters. 
He closed his eyes and started to, slowly...
WHAM! The clinic doors burst open followed by a shouting voice they both recognized.
“ZOOOOOOOROOOOOOO!”
Nami shoved herself off of her crew mate and the mattress at the same time that he practically ripped his arms from her torso. She took a step back just as their captain came bounding in holding a large plate piled with food.
“Oh hi Nami, why’re you here?” Luffy noticed her standing somewhat awkwardly beside the bed but his gaze shifted to Zoro and he forgot all about it. “Oh yeah, look Zoro!” He beamed at his first mate, scrunching both of his eyes closed and holding the plate up, “I brought you meat.”
The navigator chose this moment to slip away. Her heart was beating so fast that it felt like a hummingbird was trapped in her rib cage. ‘What had just happened! Well - what had just nearly happened?! Were they about to kiss?? If Luffy hadn’t run in, would Zoro have kissed her?!’ It had happened so slowly yet so quickly at the same time.
‘But they were just friends… Right?’
Question after question danced through her head until she shook it violently to clear it. She told herself that it must have been the sake that made Zoro act the way he did, because they were just friends. If he had another chance to kiss her she was certain he wouldn’t take it.
‘And yet… A small part of her wanted to give it to him anyway.’
                                                                          ***
Zoro had trouble settling down after Luffy left him to find more food(he’d eaten almost everything that he originally brought for his first mate.) He just... Couldn’t stop thinking about Nami - about what he’d almost done. ‘What the fuck had come over him? He’d never wanted to kiss her before tonight, so where the hell did he even get that idea from?’
“I’m drunk,” the swordsman said out loud to the empty building, like he was trying to convince himself, even though he knew it took at least two bottles to get him tipsy – and he’d barely drunk half of the first one. “I’m drunk,” he repeated, glaring at the foot of his bed where Luffy had left the mostly empty plate. All that was left were a few tangerines. 
‘He and Nami were friends.’ 
Zoro picked one up and held it in front of him, expression unreadable.
‘What had happened tonight was a fluke, and there was no way it would ever happen again.’
With only a few rays of moonlight seeping through the curtains above his head, he could just make out the normally much brighter orange sheen of the fruit’s skin.
‘They were just friends. But… Was that all he honestly wanted them to be?’

Beyond the maelstrom and the currents raging in-between Jinbei disappears from view, and Luffy’s legs finally give.
It’s Sanji who catches him, at his side in an instant and taking his weight with a low grunt of effort, arm gentle around Luffy’s bandaged waist. Sanji’s gaze searches, falls on him; he calls, “Chopper!”
And Chopper forces his body to move, Rumble Ball and injuries and exhaustion be damned.
They’re still in Big Mom’s territory, the thrum of battle still pounding away in their chests; Carrot settles into the Crow’s Nest while Brook remains steadfast at the helm and Nami steps between Luffy and the world to command their retreat. With big, careful hands, Chopper carries their captain to the part of Sunny’s grass deck least affected by the scars left behind and gets to work under the open sky.
Just in case Luffy wakes. Just in case they don’t get a word in before he fades again. You made it. We’re safe. You’re free–
This is the thing Chopper does best.

Luffy’s out for two days and Chopper is with him.
He’s there when the wound won’t stop bleeding in a flurry of cotton candy snow; when night falls around them and fever hits; when Luffy mumbles – not yet, not yet – caught between unconsciousness and delirium and all there is left to do is hold his hand and hope.
Yet Luffy’s body is as much a miracle as the soul it contains: Luffy pulls through as he always does, and Sanji looks near-faint with relief when he’s finally, finally allowed to Luffy’s bedside.
Chopper drifts, then, one ear turned towards the quiet admonishments and even quieter apologies spoken in the safety of the infirmary. After that it’s the barely-there sound of Nami’s fingers running through unruly hair, hitching against invisible knots that she untangles with patience. Brook brings along a chipper tune hummed under his breath and the lingering scent of his favorite tea.
Underneath it all, a strong heart falters and recovers and continues to beat. That, only that, finally guides Chopper into sleep.
The New World decides to have mercy with them, for now. The cerulean horizon is only interrupted by the occasional cloud – made of nothing but water and air – and for once Chopper is glad there is no candy in sight. Ever faithful, the Thousand Sunny doesn’t mind their inexperienced hands as they try to fix the damage done to her, from the holes in her hull to the tear in the main sail that Chopper sews together like he would any other wound. Sanji descends on the sorry state of his galley like he’s possessed by the devil himself and emerges hours later, lunchboxes in hand and looking as close to calm as Chopper has seen him in weeks.
Luffy is there for parts of it, awake if droopy-eyed and pale under all that gauze. He’s immediately banned to the sidelines and doesn’t put up more than a token protest, chuckling at the unanimous veto from his crew.
“Yeesh! Okay, okay. You guys got this!”
It’s quickly forgotten as Sanji gives him his lunch to drool over before settling right next to him with his own. Without another word the rest of the crew joins them on Sunny’s lawn to eat and it’s healing, Chopper finds, to sit among friends and listen to them talk and laugh over a shared meal.
One made by Sanji, that is, and even if Luffy’s too worn out to steal anything out of their boxes he still tries. It just so happens that he gets a bite of every portion regardless.
And it’s Luffy’s pleased smile and the fond eye-roll it provokes from Sanji that melts the constant stress and worry of the past few days off Chopper’s bones entirely. Soon, they will reach Wano Country and they will be united once more – Chopper sighs happily, thinking of the stories Robin will read to him and the nice, long nap he will share with Zoro.
And if Sunny goes a little slower than usual, well, Franky will know what to do and Usopp will help mend their ship as he always has. In the grand scheme of things, this will soon be just another step on the path of her becoming a ship of legend, and of them becoming the crew of the Pirate King.
Carrot beams at Chopper from where she sits with her lunchbox propped on her knees and her cheeks full. Chances are, somewhere out there, Jinbei is wounded but alive and celebrating the past to embrace a future to come all the more freely.
Munching on another forkful, Chopper decides to have faith. Luffy gave Jinbei an order, after all.

“Oi, Chopper?”
Hooves pause on the clasps of the doctor’s bag; Chopper glances up and into brown eyes, surprisingly serious. “Luffy?”
Sitting cross-legged and relaxed against Sunny’s mast, Luffy says: “I gotta tell you something.”
Chopper blinks, follows the wordless pat on wood to Luffy’s side. The man smiles and reaches over, rubbing a knuckle across Chopper’s fluffy cheek and it helps, the gesture inherently comforting and so familiar.
“Um. Is everything okay?”
“Yeah.” No hesitation, no doubts, and Luffy’s gaze is fond now, solid like little else is on an ocean as capricious as this. Yet it’s rare, for him to linger after one of his check-ups when there’s a dozen more fun things to be done.
“Remember what we said, when we met again? About this.”
Luffy places a hand on his chest then, fingers splayed from the middle of his scar like he’s holding it – himself – together. Concern races across Chopper’s mind and he nods, mouth drawn with determination.
(Tell me, Luffy, please. If–
–anything changes or hurts, I’ll let you know. That’s a promise, okay? Don’t worry about it now.)
Luffy nods, too. “It hurts. Not the scar, I don’t think but– Below? Right here.”
Gently, Chopper’s hoof is taken and held just off-center. Calm and steady, Luffy’s heart beats against his palm. Chopper starts counting out of habit.
“Not always. Right now, it’s fine ‘cause it comes and goes. Like–”
Thump. Chopper is close enough to see the subtle wince of Luffy’s mouth before it eases again and he murmurs, “Yeah. Like that.”
Closing his eyes, Chopper puts both hooves on Luffy’s chest and he waits, feels the warmth of his skin and listens to the soft breathing that hitches with every beat Luffy’s heart skips– No, every beat it adds, fluttering in-between.
And still, Luffy’s pulse marches on, strong as ever.
Chopper squints for a moment against the day’s brightness and the swirl of theories and half-formed treatment plans in his brain. “Since when?”, he asks, keeping his voice light because there is worry in Luffy’s expression. It’s just well-hidden.
Luffy thinks then, head tilted and a thumb on his chin. “Dunno exactly but, um. Definitely when I was fighting Katakuri. My chest kept hurting and I thought it was… y’know. Everything else going on.”
Everything else being Luffy getting beaten blue and bloody by a man three times his size for hours on end, and out of all the things Chopper has been able to get through his thick skull, the details of his fights have always remained out of reach. Yet Luffy looks a little nervous, shifting with another beat that goes awry under Chopper’s touch.
“Luffy… Has this happened before?”
It’s not like Luffy’s made a habit of lying – not when his tells are so obvious even Chopper knows, sometimes – just that there are things he simply doesn’t talk about, not unless directly asked. Luffy glances at Chopper and there’s something there, not exactly guilt but close enough to make him worry, too.
“I think? A long time ago. When I went after Ace, everything hurt too. Don’t know if like this, though. It’s kinda hard to tell.”
And Chopper doesn’t know what to say to that because it’s Ace, and because he wasn’t there. All the information Chopper has about the war and its aftermath exists as a bundle of handwritten notes in his locker, neatly tied and given to him without further comment by the man who was.
But… There was nothing about Luffy’s heart in there, and Traffy wouldn’t have left anything out just to spare Chopper’s feelings. There is no room for that where life and death hang in such delicate balance.
“Chopper?”
Luffy’s voice is quiet now, like Chopper’s the one whose heart is struggling. Chopper looks at him, at the uncertainty on Luffy’s face that’s so rare it’s practically unheard of, and he knows his captain needs a doctor more than he needs a friend right now.
“It’s your heart, Luffy. It’s doing okay overall but it keeps beating out of rhythm– Feel that? It’s probably been that way for a while and only got painful because you pushed yourself beyond your limits.”
Again, Chopper wants to add but it's not needed, not when Luffy is listening with an intensity Chopper isn’t used to and it makes sense, what he did. It’s unlikely they’d be sitting here to talk about this at all if Luffy hadn’t kept Katakuri away from his crew for as long as he did – Chopper can’t argue with results like that.
But–
“This… This is a warning sign, Luffy. We have to take it seriously or your heart will give sooner rather than later.”
Luffy’s brows draw together – then he nods. Chopper exhales, finally easing off Luffy’s chest to sit on his knee instead.
“It’s my Gears, isn’t it?”
It’s worded as a question even though the answer is obvious to both of them. Luffy smiles at the tired look Chopper gives him. “I know. You warned me a million times about how tough they are on my body. I’m still figuring out a way around that… Can I still use them?”
Chopper sighs. There’s no point in sugarcoating this, either.
“You really, really shouldn’t. Just… hold back on them for now? I’ll come up with some medicine to help your heart heal. It’s important for it to recover while it still can.”
Out of all the things to be put off by in that statement, Luffy grimaces at the word ‘medicine’. “… ‘kay. But I can still fight. Right? I’ll be careful. No Gears.”
Chopper hears the implied if I can help it loud and clear. He lets him have it, patting his hand comfortingly. “Yeah. Ah, and another thing… Captain?”
“Hm?”
“Can I talk to Traffy about this? I want to ask him some questions about, um. About the war.”
There’s surprise on Luffy’s face, quick to melt away. “Oh. Sure thing. Although–”
It’s Chopper’s turn to tilt his head at him. For a moment, Luffy chews on what he wants to say.
“Maybe don’t tell the others? Traffy’s okay, he’ll fuss no matter what. But… Let’s keep all this heart stuff between us for now, yeah?”
Chopper is not one for secrets but this is Luffy’s decision to make and he trusts Luffy. And while it’s technically not an order it’s still important. Especially with the faraway look Luffy gives the galley, and the way he tends to sit a little straighter and smile a little brighter every time Sanji is close-by.
“Of course”, Chopper promises him with a smile, because some wounds need longer to mend than others and some scars ache even years later. 
Only a few days more and the crew will be complete; together, Chopper knows, they’ve always been strongest. Perhaps then, Luffy will be able to set aside some of the weight on his shoulders.
Soon, they will have time again. And if there’s anything that can’t heal, well – that’s what Chopper is for. It’s the thing he’s best at.

Ho ho ho~
//Merry Christmas to @mugiwarasinger! I am your Secret Santa this year~ It’s been a while since I wrote something of this size and I do hope you enjoy this little thing I’ve done. I very much liked writing something different from my usual, and this challenged me to do so. Small interactions here and there and hopefully it’s to your liking! Thank you @opsecretsanta2019 for hosting this and making me take a part in this~
Sanji was used to having to wake up early. Ever since him and that old geezer had started running the Baratie as a business they were all required to wake up at ungodly hours to prepare for the day. Here in the Sunny Go, it wasn't any different. The young blond yawned, forcing his eyes open and sitting up from his hammock. Outside it was getting quite chilly, probably sailing near a winter island. He pushed the blanket off him and threw his legs over the edge of the bed, letting out a big yawn. A quick glance at the calendar hanging on his wall made him sport a big grin. He carefully hopped onto the floor, his bare feet barely making a noise as not to wake the others. Though Luffy snored so loud it would be impressive to even get them to stir with his footsteps anyways. At least rubber boy was useful for something. Sanji carefully opened his locker, changing into a fresh suit and stepping into his favorite walkers. One quick look in the mirror and he gave himself a quick nod and a pat on the back. Time to get prepare for the night. ~ "You're late, young eggplant. We already did most without you." "Shut up, shitty geezer." Of course, the second he went downstairs he had to get an earful of the damn old man. Sanji made his way down the stairs, his hand following the railing which was now adorned with green and white garland. Somewhere on the lower steps, Carney was busy putting seashells in hooks. He passed by, exchanging quick greeting as he entered the dining room. Every table had a small wreath in the middle, each decorated with red ribbons and a candle standing tall at its center. The walls were decorated in more colorful garlands, Patty and another group of chefs hanging Christmas ornaments and more decorated shells on each wall. It would probably look better if Patty wasn't the one deciding what goes where. "Are you just gonna be staring or are you actually gonna try to make an effort here?" A voice spoke next to him. Sanji turned to the old man next to him and huffed. "Was just making sure Patty wasn't making it too horrible to look at is all." "HAH?! Got something to say to my face you punk?!" "Nope. Go focus on those shells before you forget where to hang them- Ow! What the hell, geezer?!" Zeff had given him a firm knee to the back, successfully dropping Sanji onto the floor. "Less talking, brat. Go help us out with the tree." He made a quick gesture behind him and Sanji followed. In the corner of the dining room stood a large Christmas tree. It was already decorated with blue and white garlands, some shells hanging from the top. Sanji sighed with a smile, getting up and walking over and rummaging around the box of decorations. "Going bigger this year?" "Because you are more useful working on this than in the kitchen." Zeff hummed, making his way to the kitchen. "Eh?! I'll make you eat those words, old man! Just watch. This will be the nicest tree you've laid eyes on AND I will blow you away with a mouth watering dinner!" Sanji yelled back, missing the small smile that appeared on the man's face. ~ Sanji took a step back, admiring his work for a moment. The table was decorated with a gorgeous red cloth that he found on the previous island. He had already plated the cold dishes, placing them on various places that almost filled half the table alone. In the oven he had a chicken and on the stove lay a large piece of ham, fit to feed a group of 15. Or one rubber captain. Content with what he has prepared for tonight he decided that now was a good moment to take a smoke break. The first thing that hit him after stepping out of the galley was the nice cool sea breeze. Looking out on deck he could see the whole crew working together. The Marimo was carrying a large Christmas tree around deck, following Nami-san's instructions of where to place it. Usopp and Chopper were making homemade ornaments together. Apparently they were also making themed ones, since from where he was he could spot two wooden pieces looking suspiciously similar to their captain's straw hat. Robin was helping Franky decorate the mast and railings, watching her devilfruit sprout onto the galley door and hanging up a wreath and giving the blond a thumbs up. "Good evening Sanji-san, how are you liking the ship thus far?" A familiar voice echoed behind him. The blond startled back a bit, spotting the ghostly spirit of their musician. "Brook? What are you doing floating around as a spirit?" "Yohoho~ I am helping Nami-san by looking for any empty or crooked spots." "Ah Nami-san~ Such an attention to detail~♡ But I see you lot have been busy. Anything I can still add to help?" "Hmmm... I'm not sure. Nami has been working us like elves for the past hours. You should ask her-" "BROOK!" "Oh dear, guess my presence is needed elsewhere~ Yohohohohoho!" And with that, he floated back, presumably to his body. Ah Christmas... a time to celebrate with friends and family. The time of year where you enjoy each others company and give gifts. Seeing his crew work this hard to achieve that Christmas spirit reminded him of the past. Back at the Baratie, where he had first celebrated Christmas at the young age of 10 years old. Sanji looked up at the sky, wondering how that old man was doing. Did the Baratie look as nice as before? Or were the indeed hopeless without his eye for detail. He chuckled at the thought before jumping down onto deck, deciding to help out with the decorations since his work in the kitchen was done. "Watch where you're going Shit Cook!" "Hah? Maybe you should watch where you're going. We dont want the tree to stand somewhere behind the ship or something." "Don't worry Sanji-kun! I've had my eyes on him since we started." She gave a thumbs up, propping her hand up on her elbow. "We should be finished soon though. You wanna help decorate the tree?" "Of course Nami-san~ I'll make the nicest tree you've ever laid eyes on!” The chef gave her a proud thumbs up, turning to the Marimo who carefully placed the tree right in the center of the grassy deck. Chopper and Usopp were already walking over, having finished their little ornaments. Robin was already one step ahead of them, placing a shiny gold star on top of the tree for them.  As time passed by, the tree lit up brightly in the dark cold sky. Everyone took a step back, admiring the view of what they all helped creating. In the time people were just smiling and admiring, some of the members went to the cabins to bring the presents and place them under. Sanji followed suite, putting his pile of neatly wrapped presents under the tree. In the time he looked around though, there was one question on his mind. “Has anyone seen Luffy?” Everyone shared a look, Usopp crossing his arms and tilting his head.  “Luffy? He was helping us make charms. Then he said he went...to... check...on you...”  Everyone went silent, slowly turning to the door of the galley which was now eerily quiet. Everything else happened so fast, starting with the cook yelling so many curses that this part had to be censored.

Arc Headcanons // PRE-SKIP PT.4
It’s been two weeks since I did one of these ‘cause I was on vacation, but here we go again! Sorry for being repetitive, but there will most likely be mentions of Sanji x Anita.
DUVAL / SABAODY ARCHIPELAGO
— ARC OUTFIT
— After almost watching Sanji’s upper half disappear on Thriller Bark, it’s going to become a habit for her to touch a bit more. Not that she was why about it before because she’s just a physical person, but she’ll touch his arm, chest and anything from the neck up as a weird way of making sure he’s there. Totally brushes it off as just making sure he’s still mostly intact.
— She doesn’t know him, but Anita is worried about Ace too. She doesn’t like that his Vivre Card is burning. Still, she trusts Luffy’s judgement and doesn’t insist that he go after his brother. By the sounds of it, Ace is perfectly capable of defending himself.
— While Chopper and Usopp are relaxing and the rest of the crew is dealing with the submarine, Anita is in the kitchen pouting because she wanted to go underwater. With her Devil Fruit, she can’t. Oh, well, it’s sort of given her the chance to indulge in her stupid crush and watch Sanji work.
— Him getting decked by Keimi’s whole body when she lands on him cracks her up, though. She really needs to stop laughing at other peoples suffering. Not really sure why she does, but I feel like she just would.
— Having not been there during the Arlong Park chaos, she isn’t sure who Hachi is. Learning about it infuriates her, and so does learning that mermaids are sold.
— A thing I am realizing; when her island was taken over, her and her troupe were basically turned into slaves. They were a little cleaner and happier looking, but it was part of the act to lure pirates in. If they disobeyed, they were beaten or even put to death. They were scared of the man that had put himself in the position of master. So the entirety of this arc, Anita will likely be pissed and slightly afraid in a ‘ does he realize I’m gone and has he told other Marines so they recognize me’ way. She doesn’t want to be dragged back home yet when she can’t help. Didn’t have the smarts to think that it might happen until now. Whoops~
— Anita goes with the flow, so she doesn’t care who they’re saving as long as Luffy’s the one that ordered it. Although a large part of her wants to meet a talking octopus-man.
— Duval’s existence almost kills Anita. She will be doubled over despite being attacked with poisonous harpoons, holding her stomach and wheezing for breath.
— Because she’s stupid and obvious, I feel like the ones that know she has a crush on Sanji would be Nami, Robin and Usopp. At least one of them is going to be a shit and make a joke about her liking Duval because what’s the difference between him and Sanji? Rude as fuck, but it only makes her start laughing again.
— Flips her shit when they trap him in the water and announce they’re going to drown him. God, sometimes she hates that she has a Devil Fruit. When he does get rescued and has his dumb little nosebleed, Anita will poke him with her foot. Moron.
— Luffy and Anita have a contest to see who can put the most takoyaki in their mouth at once. Anita loses, obviously, and ends up almost choking. Sanji goes to help but Luffy smacks her hard on the back and ends up coughing it up. Ew.
— I’m wondering if Anita would know who the Celestial Dragons are. What I’m thinking is that their conditions at the circus were a lot worse than I first made them out to be. That they were treated like slaves, and that because the corrupt part of the government turns a blind eye ( and sometimes encourages ) the buying and selling of people. So if they were treated and seen as slaves, then I wonder if Celestial Dragons visited the island to be entertained and buy some of the troupe members. 
One day she will have noticed that a certain member has gone missing and not come back. Would destroy her to see them being treated poorly years later while visiting Sabaody. Not sure if that’s giving her too much personal involvement in the arc, though. But, honestly, I’m liking this idea because she’s not going to get a major arc of her own like the canon Straw Hats to. This is the only personal things I can think of to make up for her lack of an arc and a slight foreshadowing that she won’t have a home to come back to.
— Anita debates being a love-struck idiot and staying on the ship with Sanji while it’s getting repaired by Franky and Usopp. Decides against it because she knows she’s being stupid and doesn’t want to look at his dumb, handsome face. Stupid cook.
— Like Zoro, she wasn’t there for the briefing about not dealing with Celestial Dragons. She’s off on her own thing, probably notices someone that used to be in her troupe but sees they have a collar and are being treated like an animal rather than a person. Follows after them, tries to call their name and get their attention. Might get a small, frantic look as the only warning not to say anything else! Gets confused and ends up losing them before she realizes that she’s where the rest of the Straw Hats are. Is yanked down onto her knees by one of them and doesn’t get why. Learns real quick and decides just as swiftly that she doesn’t like this place.
— Doesn’t care about Law’s crew, except for Bepo. Bear! Walking, talking bear! If they weren’t trying so hard to get Keimi back, she would have scrambled over to talk to Bepo. Wants so badly to be his bear-buddy.
— Adds a kick of her own when Sanji asks if they can buy the dancing girl. Come on, Sanji.  .  . Really? You’re my most beloved muse and I wanna kick your ass for that.
— Anita doesn’t get why people are reacting so badly to Hatchi. She isn’t the least bit against other races because there were too many different kinds of people that worked for the circus, so she only sees them all as people.
— She’s secretly enjoying learning about all these old pirates because she never met Crocus, and she doesn’t hear about Roger much. Always a sucker for good stories.
— The idea of splitting up doesn’t appeal to her. She has a bad feeling in her gut that she blames her animal-like instinct on. Assume Chopper can feel it too even though they’ve got got human in them too. Doesn’t mention it and almost approaches Sanji to ask if she can tag along with him wherever he plans on going.
— Anita can be incredibly dumb sometimes, but I feel like she would quickly notice that it wasn’t Kuma they were fighting. Or, at least, notice that he doesn’t have the paw-pads. Kind of hard for her to forget those when she’s so closely associated with bears.
— Probably tried to bite at the Pacifista’s and only managed to get through the ‘skin.’ I know Brook couldn’t get through it, but she’s a gigantic bear, come on. They’re supposed to be able to bite through iron, so she’s going to get her jaw into PX-4 and shed some of that outside layer.
— Running would be so easy for her in her bear form, but she doesn’t flee like she’s told. She’s taking on too much responsibility as a tank and trying to protect the groups that look like they’re under attack the most. 
— Because of that, I feel like she would end up being the first one ‘erased’ because she would make every attempt to lunge in front of Zoro when the real Kuma comes. I know Zoro disappearing first was important, but she’s the one that jumps out first to do her job. She won’t get to see what happens to Chopper while he’s rampaging again, and doesn’t get to see what happens to everyone else. I wanted to be more despair inducing for her, but she would be one of the first gone and won’t have time to see them vanish.
URSA ISLAND / TWO YEAR SEPARATION
— Anita crash-lands on an island inhabited entirely by large, beastly bears. They’re all larger and stronger than she is, and they aren’t the least bit welcoming to find a human on their island. Unlike actual wild bears, these ones are barely smart enough to have a system of roles, the most important being tribe leader.
— The tribe leader, Anita dubbed King. He was a large, black, monstrous bear with nasty scars and gnarly teeth. He looks like a cruel leader, but he’s actually as kind as they come. He only wants to frighten her away because they can’t stand humans. He seeks only to protect his people. That’s what she’s come to understand, at least.
— There’s only one place that’s safe on the island, and it’s the largest tree in the entire place. They can’t climb to the top, and she can in her human form. Discovers, however, that she’s not the only human stuck on that island. A young girl is also trapped there. She doesn’t know herself very well and is nameless. She lives in the trees to avoid the bears and has lived there so long that she smells like them. Eventually, they agree that she will be called Ylde. Pronounced like ‘wild’ but Anita can’t spell and just went based on the sound.
— Ylde: Isn’t it spelled w-i-l-d?     Anita: ...How the fuck does a two-year-old stuck on a bear island know how to spell better than me?     Ylde: I’m thirteen.     Anita: Silence, small baby.
— Ylde attempts to convince Anita that there’s no point in trying to integrate herself into the tribe. Even as a bear, they’ll know she doesn’t belong from her scent and size. Anita corrects her and says she only wants to get off the damned island so she can get back to her friends.
— Because it will be a while before she gets the paper and she’s determined to leave, she gets into her bear form and readies herself to fight through the swarm of bears just to get to shore and find one of the many boats Ylde says have washed up over the years.
— End up coming back to Ylde’s tree because she gets her ass kicked. Tries this every single day until the moment the News Coo comes with the paper saying. She understands the hint given by Luffy and is immediately relieved to see he’s still alive. Doesn’t know if the rest are, but she’s hoping so. Didn’t even occur to her that they might be dead because she managed to survive the crash.
— Spends the next to years fighting and learning on her own. Ylde doesn’t stick around when, during the first year and a half, an intact ship is discovered. She insists Anita come with her, but she refuses. Ylde, having gotten attached to her, promises to come back to that exact spot in two years to pick her up and take her where she wants to go.
— Anita’s goal, like everyone else, is to get stronger. She realizes after being beaten again and again that she’s too weak in her bear form. Seeing as how that’s the part she wants to strengthen most, she dedicates herself to staying a bear as long as she possibly can. Day in and day out, from sunrise to sunset, she wants to stay a bear. She does this and does get stronger, but doesn’t realize that in the process she was inching closer to becoming the tribe leader herself.
— Over the two year separation, the following happens; she learns armament haki that she uses only on her teeth and claws, gets even larger than before, earns more devastating-looking scars, gets even greedier with food because of how unfair the tribe was to her before she became leader, eventually becomes the leader and earns the respect of the entire island.
— But because the rest of the tribe refuses to fight her, she becomes lazy and antsy. She will absolutely crave a fight whenever it feels like one is brewing now.
— New moves:           Mighty Roar: Can either a. instill fear in an enemy and send them fleeing or b. temporarily disable them because the intensity of the sound is mind-numbing. Not to be confused with Conqueror's Haki ;;
          Bear Trap: Bites through any part of an enemy that she can and fuses her jaws together with her Armament Haki as long as the teeth are touching, leaving it nearly impossible to shake her off.
          Bearrel Roll: Yes, it’s a pun to barrel roll. Doesn’t actually suit the move because she’s not doing a barrel roll, but she does curl up and roll into her target to catch them off guard. Is a good move to use with people she trusts to throw / kick her.

I don’t even know if I have 15 stories. I am going with the first paragraph or first indent not including dialogue if that makes sense. Starting from most recent. I am including different chapters as otherwise I won’t have 15. I feel like I am missing a WIP but I can’t find it found it!
1. Sad Fic (WIP no real title yet)
“Hey guys!! Look who we’ve got!’
They hadn’t even arrived at Wano, and Luffy was already screaming. He stood on the railing and pointed proudly at Sanji, who tried his best to hide behind Brook.  So much for a silent approach.  Having just escaped from one Emperor, Sanji couldn’t shake the feeling that any second Kaido would come barrelling down on them. Best not to tempt fate. The Sunny pulled  into the hidden harbour with very little fanfare, besides the fanfare that Luffy self generated. There was a crowd to greet them but first glance he couldn’t spot any familiar faces. There wasn’t a smile among them.  Luffy was smiling enough for them all as he danced along the railing and dove into the crowd, his arms swinging back and shit, Sanji  and the rest was dragged down as well. One of these days he was going to figure out how far that his damn captain could stretch and stay a good foot beyond that near any high places.
2. Chopper’s Dream (WIP. Title to change)
The lights were off in the infirmary. Sanji had seen Chopper run in not too long ago, so just in case, he knocked as he entered. Chopper did take reindeernaps in here after all.
“Chopper? I brought some tea and cookies, the ladies didn’t want it all”
The small reindeer had his head on the desk, turned, eyes staring into the wall
Sanji carefully set the platter between Chopper and the wall, and waited.
Chopper continued to stare through the ever so delicious tea and cookies at the wall.
3. Raftel (WIP)
They had finally made it, Raftel. The imposing cliff face loomed over them. All those years of fighting, crying and laughing, suddenly felt very small before it. Even Usopp, brave warrior of the sea that he was, felt his knees shake a little. This was the end. The last island, X that marks the spot.  What could possibly be up there that was worth all this? Even with everything  they had seen, if he was really honest with himself, Usopp had no idea what the One Piece was. A mountain of gold? “Made you look” ponoglyphed into a wall? A doodle of sea gull with God D roger’s autograph at the bottom? Nothing could surprise him anymore. He looked over at Robin, she probably had a better idea. Even with the wind splashing the stinging seawater into the crew’s eyes, she kept looking forward, unblinkingly.
4. Reindeernapping Chapter 4 (WIP)
The Sunny was docked slightly away from the main harbour, tucked away half hidden. Apparently the locals (thanks Franky for the intel) were okay with pirates as long as they were seen and not heard. Zoro was on the deck trying to sleep as  Luffy continued the Chopper hunt. Cause of course Chopper might of just fallen asleep in a barrel or climbed up into the crow’s nest. Zoro couldn’t wait to see the shit cook’s face when he saw his kitchen, Luffy had opened every single drawer and cabinet, on the off chance that Chopper had somehow managed to shrink down to 6 inches and decided to hid with the spoons. Once he had satisfied himself that Chopper hadn’t buried himself into any of the bags of flour Luffy stumbled from the kitchen, caked in white powder and launched himself to the figure head. He lay out and stared at the sea
“This is sooooo booooringg! I want to look for Chopper too!”
5. Emergency Food Supply (WIP)
It has been 19 days, three hours, fifteen minutes and 30 seconds since they had last eaten. Not that Chopper was keeping count. Counting required energy. Luffy’s stomach didn’t so much as growl anymore, it was just a dull constant roar against the ocean.  Despite Thriller Bark being behind them, they still couldn’t find their way out of the fog that was the Florian Triangle. 
6. Shut Up Kiss Chapter 3 Lusopp 
They were sailing away. The cannonballs crashing into the ocean were so loud that Usopp could barely think straight, but the silence from the ship was deafening. They were going to leave him.
“If that’s what you want… let me say one last thing. You guys…” he tries to yell but it only comes out as a kind of whisper. What was the point, his throat was already sore from screaming and they were sailing away.
7. Physician Inquisition
“I HOPE YOU CHOKE ON THAT APPLE AND DIE YOU BASTARD!”

“GOD DAMN CHARLEY HORSE!”

“HEY I AM NOT A HORSE! I AM A REINDEER”

Nami poked her head into the sick bay,
“Is everything all right in there?”
8. Don't Play With Your Food
Sanji stared at the freezer door and took a deep breath. He must have misread it, or it was mislabeled, or this was all some kind of fevered dream. If this was a fever dream, he expected some beautiful dancing ladies. He opened the freezer door and pulled out the parcel. Venison. So not dancing ladies then. In little black letters clear as day and beside it almost as an afterthought, reindeer. It sounded like a devil fruit, the venison venison fruit mode reindeer. A small slightly hysterical laugh escaped his mouth and he bit his lip but it still echoed through the kitchen. This wasn’t a devil fruit or some kind of joke, it was a slab of meat. Reindeer meat. In his freezer. Outside he could hear the tap-tap of hooves and a gentle high-pitched laugh. Their emergency food supply new crewmate, he really should stop those jokes, was fitting in well. He stared harder at the letters willing them to rearrange themselves. Fantastic.
9. Wedding Feast
“Welcome to my humble kitchen Lord Sanji” the head chef was groveling so hard his white chef hat scrapped on the ground. His hat seemed wrong, too small.
“Get up. I just wanted to have a look around, it is my wedding feast after all.”
The chef straightened himself.
“Why yes Lord Sanji, of course. I had heard rumours that our great Lord spent some time at a restaurant, so any comments or suggestions are more than welcome.”
The bustle of white smocks around him, the sizzling of pans and the smell of garlic filled the room. Throw in some swearing and a few half dozen tattooed men and you would almost have the Baratie. For the first time since he had arrived at Germa Kingdom, he almost felt at home. He had missed the bustle and the noise. The kitchen was never quiet even back on the Sunny. Someone was always whining for more meat, trying to sneak sake or sweets, and trying to drink all of his milk or cola in one go. Or just dropping by to talk and getting bullied into cutting veggies and washing dishes. He really should ask Franky to put a lock on the door, give him some peace and quiet for a change. But then the ladies wouldn't be able to drop by. Choices choices.
10. Man Overboard
“MAN OVER BOARD MAN OVER BOARD”
Sanji was already in the water looking around frantically so Usopp though it was safe to check who had fallen in. As Chopper and Luffy were the ones yelling their heads off a bit further down the ship with fishing rod in hand, or well hoof, it wasn’t them. Brook had come running over with his violin (how that would help a drowning person is anyone’s guess), and he could see one of Robin’s hand with an eye in the centre sprouted on the side of the ship scanning the water as well. So it wasn’t any of the devil fruit users, that was a relief. Nami had poked her head out of the girl’s room to see what the fuss was about her mapping pen still in hand and Franky had poked his head out of the bathroom. Which left Zoro. Had he somehow managed to wander off the ship into the sea, was that even possible? There weren’t any marine ships around so it wasn’t a surprise attack that had knocked him in. Maybe he fell asleep on the railing and tipped over? But just as Usopp had settled on this, he heard a loud voice behind him “What is taking that damn curly brow so long?”
11. The Question
There is a rare moment of silence, the Merry has burned and the Straw Hats are wiping their eyes and trying to catch their breath. The mighty Sogeking takes a deep breath and grabs Luffy’s hand, half dragging him away from everyone else. Or at least he tries to, but dragging a rubber man by the hand is surprisingly difficult and kind of awkward. You end up standing a few feet away with his stretched arm between the two of you as he picks his nose with the other. After some anxious head tilting and whispering what could be misunderstood to be the word meat, Luffy shuffles over. It is quiet and Luffy has to lean in a little to hear it properly but Sogeking manages to squeak it out
“Can I join the crew?”
no bravado no tall tales and Luffy just smiles.
“No way!”.
12. Reindeernapping Chapter 3
He had built the Shark Submerge III to carry up to three people so with only himself inside there was plenty of room, but the metallic echo of his own breathing and the itching sense that time was passing too fast was making Franky feel queasy. Being a dozen or so feet underwater and forced to wear unnatural pants wasn’t helping matters either. He would give anything for that squeaky little voice to start chirping away, dancing around the cabin asking silly questions about what each button did. Instead there was silence. Franky stared out the reinforced glass viewing window scanning the ocean view. If Little Bro was here, he wouldn’t miss him. One of the handy things about being a cyborg was that blinking was purely optional. With a few drops in his eyes every morning, he might blink once or twice a day, if at all. He had won a lot of money off Long Nose Bro that way, the poor kid couldn't say no to a staring contest. Franky usually wore his shades to avoid giving anyone the creeps but with an empty submarine, that wasn’t an issue.
13. Reindeernapping Chapter 2
The pink and purple smoke was still hanging in the air. Franky couldn’t help asking
“How do you guys usually go about finding lost people? This can’t be the first time this has happened, right?”
“ Chopper just tracks Zoro-I mean Chopper tends to sniff people out” Long Nose answered.
”Fantastic ”
He had seen a bit of their finding people attempts back at Water Seven, and been less than impressed. Franky sat down with a thud on the grass.
14. Reindeernapping Chapter 1
Grocery shopping was distinctly not super. Franky and Reindeer Gorilla had gotten stuck with last minute supplies duty as Cook Bro was too busy protecting the fresh meat and booze from Straw Hat and Sword Bro. Cook Bro had given them an extensive list and Reindeer Gorrilla had his own list of herbs and textbooks he wanted to get. It all added up to quite a haul so someone needed to order and pay while Reindeer Gorilla lugged everything around. Merchants didn’t take kindly to animals placing orders. So Franky volunteered to be Reindeer Gorilla’s designated human. He wanted to get to know his new crew mates outside the yelling and screaming that was Enies Lobby. The market place was jam packed, a lot of elbows to the stomach and competing smells that didn’t quite go together. Fresh flowers, half rotten cabbages and the body odour of the crowd (he was going to have to force Lil Bro to take a bath eventually, the smell was ridiculous) were enough to make his nose rust. It kind of reminded Franky of back home, he has barely left it 72 hours ago and he was definitely not crying. Rubbing his super dry eyes, he stared down at Cook Bro’s list. It seemed like he had everything. A note was scribbled on the bottom ‘Absolutely no cotton candy, that means you Chopper' Franky snorted.
“Reindeer Gorilla, look at this-”
But he was speaking to thin air. The parcel packed Reindeer Gorilla was gone.
15. Shut Up Kiss Chapter 2 Lusopp
“Thinking back, when I was about to sail out, you guys asked me to join you. That's all that's tying us together. We don't have to-”
Something slams into Usopp’s face and everything goes dark. Luffy had been across the room sulking in the wrecked table, right? Had Luffy punched him? Or Gum Gum belled him in the face? Usopp peeks his eyes open, he didn’t remember closing them, and finds himself staring into black circles. Luffy was close, too close. Close enough for Usopp to pluck out his stupid eyelashes one by one. The words won’t come out, he can’t breath. Something was blocking his mouth or rather someone was. Luffy. This wasn’t a surprise punch to the face or a head butt. This was something else.

While he was, for the most part, glad to have been invited out, he wasn't sure why exactly he'd thought the night would prove to be exciting. Rather, he found himself disappointed when it turned out that being a bodyguard, albeit a fake one, was actually a rather dull experience.
As far as Sanji could tell, there really wasn't a need for the bodyguard schtick. No one had approached Usopp in a manner that could even be considered threatening, rendering him and Zoro utterly useless. Not even the woman he'd met earlier had come around to harass them if she had, in fact, been the woman he'd been warned against. It was boring work, if he was honest. He hadn't even been allowed to tour the gallery after he'd come back from the restroom, which was another disappointment all on its own. Part of his excitement that came with being able to take part in Usopp's show was the thought of getting to enjoy the fine arts setting.
And though he knew it hadn't been, it felt like he'd been standing in place for hours. There was nothing for him to do besides stand around and try to look like he belonged, but, hell, there wasn't even a wall for him to lean against.
It wasn't so much that he was tired of having been standing in place for so long, (working at the Baratie had conditioned him to stay on his feet for long hours), so much that it was that he wasn't allowed to move around. He was restless and indescribably bored, crippling his motivation and desire to be there at all.
The crowd in the gallery wasn't even interesting, which may have been the worst part. He'd thought that, being artists and collectors, there would have been a few eccentrics in the group to rejuvenate his spirit, but there were none. Everyone was as bland and dull as the next. After a while, their faces morphed together into one large flesh-toned audience that rotated around and droned on unmercifully about paintings he couldn't see. It was beginning to make his head hurt.
Usopp himself even seemed disinterested, though it was hard to tell with his mask in place, but at least he got to speak with the people who asked about or wanted to buy his art, but damn did the man talk.
His stories had entertained Sanji at first, but before long he began to find the exaggerations that came with each piece to be annoying. They grew grander and taller with each passing patron who inquired about his work to the point where his stories were entirely unbelievable, and yet, the people he told them to continued to eat them up.
Glancing over at Zoro, positioned on the other side of Usopp, Sanji saw that the idiot punk was just as bored as he was. His gaze was dull and gone, and if it weren't for the fact that he occasionally sighed and shifted his weight around, Sanji would have thought he'd fallen asleep with his eyes open.
What Sanji really needed, he figured, was a cigarette. He'd been pining for one not long after they'd helped set up Usopp's gallery spaced, and hadn't yet gotten the chance to step away and have a smoke. To be able to do that, at least, would be a welcome break to the refined monotony he'd gotten involved with.
Discreetly, Sanji had tried to scout out a place where he could slip away to on his own, but being unfamiliar with the building, he'd been unable to ascertain where any side-exits were. Glancing to Zoro, he recognized that the man probably knew where he could go to smoke, though, he didn't necessarily want to talk with him; he was already strung-out and annoyed enough without having to deal with what would inevitably turn into an argument.
But his fingers kept twitching and fidgeting towards the pocket he kept his cigarettes in, enforcing his need and desire to step away for just a minute. Left with no other option, Sanji decided to cut his losses and try to get Zoro to offer him a way out.
With Usopp positioned between them, Sanji waited until a curious guest began to ask if they could negotiate a price on one of his pieces before he attempted anything. As Usopp stepped away to speak with the potential buyer, Sanji sighed, glared at Zoro, and then mustered up the last bit of courtesy he had to step in close and ask about an exit.
"Oi, moss-head," he murmured, glancing to see if Zoro had heard him.
Zoro barely turned his head to acknowledge that he had and remained staring impassively ahead.
Ignoring his impersonal behaviour, Sanji licked his lips and said, "I need a break."
Zoro appeared surprised as he quirked his brow and frowned at him. Sanji returned his stare, trying to convey his need for something, anything, to do to get him away from his spot to break his boredom, but instead Zoro shook his head and denied him.
Sanji's brow furrowed.
"What, can't handle all this rousing excitement?" Zoro said, sarcasm dripping thickly off his tongue. "You're weaker than I thought."
Trying his best not to rise to Zoro's taunt, Sanji took a deep breath and tried to keep himself calm.
"Look, asshole, all I'm asking for is a smoke break. Just point me to a back entrance or whatever. Five minutes is all it'll take."
"Back entrance?" Zoro said, snorting. "What back entrance? We're underground, idiot; there are no 'back entrances'."
Sanji floundered; honestly, he'd forgotten about that.
Zoro noticed his expression and laughed, snickering when Sanji scowled and attempted to approach him threateningly.
"If you want me to keep standing here doing this shit, then you're going to let me go have a smoke break," he said, keeping his voice quiet and insistent. Zoro stopped laughing.
For a moment, they were quiet. The buzz and the heat from the packed gallery packed in around them as they stared each other down tensely.
Sanji knew that if they weren't careful, they'd likely end up in another fight. But he wanted this.
He spoke slowly, making his point clear as he said, "I'm going to go smoke regardless of whether or not you allow it."
"Oh yeah?" Zoro said, his tone of voice becoming testy as he narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms, facing Sanji directly. "And where you gonna go to do that? The bathroom? 'Cause they have smoke detectors in there."
Sanji nodded his head towards the entrance they'd come in from earlier.
"If I can't go out, I'll go up," he said.
"Don't," Zoro said seriously.
The look in Zoro's eyes was threatening, and Sanji was aware that, if he didn't back down now, they would start a fight. He didn't want to tarnish Usopp's reputation, or even disrupt the atmosphere, but Zoro really was insufferable. His hands had already formed into fists by the time he thought, 'Fuck it', and retaliated.
"I'd like to see you try and stop me," Sanji sneered, turning away smartly to head for the exit.
There was a brief moment where, as he began to walk away, he'd thought Zoro had actually let him go before he felt himself abruptly stumble backwards. It was a foolish thought as Zoro harshly jerked him back into place, grabbing hold of his upper arm roughly to pull him back into place.
Outraged at the way he was being manhandled, Sanji immediately broke his grip and stormed forward until he was right in Zoro's face. There they stalled, but the anger between them was so palpable people had begun to take notice.
"I said don't," Zoro said, speaking lowly.
"What the fuck is your problem, asshole?!" Sanji hissed, shoving at Zoro's chest. "Where the hell do you get off trying to dictate where I can and can't go, you- you- you fucking fascist!"
At that, Zoro's eyes went wide and then narrowed considerably with rage. He rose to Sanji's anger and shoved him back roughly, nearly knocking him into Usopp's display. Before Sanji could launch himself into a counterattack, Usopp swiftly interjected.
"Oi oi oi!" He said nervously, rushing in between them to hold them back at arms-length. "What's going on?!"
"Nothing," Zoro spit out, eyeing Sanji with all the malice of a mad, chained dog that he could muster.
"It's not nothing," Sanji contested, pressing his weight against Usopp. Zoro responded with a sneer.
Usopp fretfully looked between them, unsure of what to do. Around them, a small gathering of people had accumulated and were now all watching them. Noticing this, the artist's knees began to shake and he wondered if he'd really be able to stop the two of them if they did decide to brawl.
"Well, whatever it is, please, please don't make a scene here!" he pleaded, looking to the both of them to concede.
They stared at each other impassively over Usopp's head, neither of them willing to back down.
"Zoro, please!" Usopp whispered frantically, turning towards his friend. "The last thing I need is to get noticed here with him! Or to get noticed at all!"
Zoro's face contorted, stuck between the desire to beat Sanji shitless and the need to stay low-key in order to give Usopp some peace of mind. It was ugly, and made Sanji smirk. He knew Zoro was going to let up.
After a moment of nothing, Zoro finally relented, turning away and running a hand through his hair as he breathed out, "Fuck!" loudly. Usopp hesitated, but lowered the barrier between them, heaving a gigantic sigh of relief.
"Fuck," Zoro repeated sourly, angrily glaring at everything but Sanji. "Fuck. Fine, okay, fuck."
Before Sanji could gloat about his victory, Zoro had quickly stepped around Usopp to grab him again by the arm.
"Oi!" Sanji said, trying to pull away, but the hold Zoro had over him was stronger than the last.
"Hey, hey, hey!" Usopp shouted as Sanji was dragged away. "Where are you going?!"
"Five minutes," Zoro said loudly in reply, projecting his voice over the murmur of gallery collectors. He turned his head to briefly look at Sanji, a very serious expression on his face as he led them to the stairwell exit.
Unsure of whether or not this was Zoro actually giving in and letting him take a break, or if it was a ruse to take the fight outside, Sanji hesitantly allowed himself to be led away. Either way, if it got him outside, he'd take it. He knew he could handle Zoro in a fight.
Looking back over his shoulder, Usopp stood fretfully amidst the group that had not yet disbanded, causing Sanji to wonder if he should be worried for him. He was fairly confident that nothing would befall the artist while the two of them were gone, but the way the man stood quaking presented his mind with doubt.
He cast Usopp out of his mind as they approached the stairwell, and together they climbed up until they were met with the street.
Sanji took a deep breath of the cool evening air as they stepped around Daz, who eyed the both of them suspiciously. Zoro ignored him as he power-walked them to a spot not too far from the gallery, but far enough away that they were out of ear shot of the doorman.
It was then Sanji noticed Zoro still had hold of him.
"You done with this?" he asked, giving Zoro a deadpan expression and gesturing to his arm. "Can I have it back now?"
Zoro scowled and released him.
"Thanks."
With his arm free, Sanji casually went for his pack of cigarettes and plucked one out to smoke. Warily, he eyed Zoro, prepared to fight and protect himself if this was indeed the purpose the punk had led them outside for. But as he lit up, Zoro went to rest back against the storefront they'd found themselves in front of and let himself slide down the window until he was sat on the sidewalk.
It was evident in the way he let his head rest back that he'd needed a break, too, and so Sanji relaxed.
Breathing in deeply from his cigarette, he felt his tension slip away as he leaned back against the building. Already beginning to feel more at ease, he frowned when Zoro spoke, saying, "Five minutes."
"I know what I said, asshole," Sanji retorted sharply, kicking at one of Zoro's outstretched legs.
Rested together under the dim glow of a nearby streetlamp, the two of them were quiet as they enjoyed their break in their own way. Sanji watched pedestrians pass by and smiled at the ladies who politely stepped over and around Zoro's legs, and though they were outside of the gallery now, he could still hear some remnants of the dull mutterings that took place inside it.
"Is it always that crowded?" he found himself asking, glancing down at Zoro to see if he were sleeping or not. With his eyes closed, it was hard to tell.
Zoro didn't say anything for a bit, until he opened his eyes and sighed, saying, "Yeah."
"Crazy," Sanji murmured, and let himself slide down until he was sat beside Zoro on the ground.
Zoro side-eyed Sanji with an unreadable expression before closing his eyes and resting back again.
"You know," Sanji began to say, disturbing Zoro's rest once more. "For a minute, I really thought you'd dragged me out here to fucking fight me again."
Zoro snorted.
"I thought about it."
"Then why the hell did you come out here with me?"
"Because of him," Zoro stated, pointing over to where Daz still stood guard. "If you came up alone, he wouldn't let you back in."
"Oh," Sanji said, staring at the guard's distantly dim figure. "Thanks, then."
Zoro shrugged off his thanks but looked uncomfortable.
"It's whatever," he replied. "You're my ride, anyway."
They fell into silence again, the both of them dreading returning to the busy gallery. The evening sky grew darker in the time that they relaxed, though Sanji was not content with the silence. He was an extrovert, after all; there was always a need in him to make small talk.
"So what's with all your fighting shit, anyway?" he asked, looking to Zoro. "Why'd you try and jump me in the fucking parking lot earlier?"
Zoro sighed exasperatedly and sat forward, giving Sanji a glare. It was clear he didn't appreciate the way Sanji continued to disrupt his peace.
"You pissed me off," he said bluntly.
"Oh, come on," Sanji said bitterly. "You're really telling me your ego is seriously that frail? That's not it."
"Well, you did," Zoro mumbled halfheartedly. When he didn't continue speaking, Sanji nudged him to continue. Zoro frowned and shied away from the touch. "I don't know why, alright? I just like to fight; I fight everyone, and you seem…"
"Seem what? Like an easy target?"
He couldn't help the angry tone he spoke with, but really, he didn't appreciate feeling like he was just a punching bag for the guy to be abused at will. If they were going to be friends, he deserved to be treated better and he was prepared to make that happen. Zoro, however, seemed embarrassed.
"No, not that. Just, capable, I guess," he replied awkwardly, looking away to the toes of his boots. "You're a challenge."
Sanji stared at him silently before turning away and saying, "Oh."
He sat smoking quietly as he contemplated what Zoro meant, but beside him, the punk seemed agitated about something.
"Look, I'm sorry, alright?" he blurted suddenly, disrupting the calm Sanji had descended into.
"What?" he replied blankly. "For what?"
"For your fucking shitty ass suit," he said angrily, though Sanji couldn't tell if his anger was directed at him or not.
"Oh," he said, looking at the tattered sleeve of what had once been his finest suit. Upon being reminded of it, he found that he wasn't all that angry about it anymore, but the way Zoro looked at it made it seem like he still was.
"If you took it to a uh, tailor, you think they could fix it?" Zoro asked, scratching at his head uncomfortably.
"Probably," Sanji replied with a shrug.
"Then I'll foot the bill if you do."
Sanji's surprise at Zoro's unprovoked spur of generosity must have manifested itself on his face as the punk turned a little red and scowled, looking away.
"Uh, okay. Thanks," was all Sanji could think to say.
The silence between them grew awkward as they waited for Sanji to finish smoking.
"You know it's been more than five minutes," he said quietly after a while.
"I know," Zoro replied, and nothing more was said between them until the ash of Sanji's cigarette had reached the filter, signaling its end.
Together, they rose after Sanji stubbed it out along the sidewalk and returned to the gallery entrance. As they passed, Daz gave them an eerie look accompanied with a discomfiting smile. Zoro leered at him as they began their descent, both of them choosing to ignore the sinister feeling it gave them.
The heat of the gallery swept up to greet them as they rejoined the throng of artists and collectors. The ceiling fans spun rapidly in place, but the breeze they produced was lost on them as they slowly began to make their way back to Usopp when Zoro suddenly froze, eyes going wide.
"What?" Sanji asked, turning to look in the direction Zoro was staring when he'd stopped. "What is it?"
"Go," Zoro said, a sense of urgency quickly taking hold of his voice. He turned away from where he'd been looking and grabbed hold of Sanji's shoulders. "Hide. Or leave. Don't go back to Usopp and if anyone asks, you snuck in here on your own. Don't wait up for me I'll take a bus back. Go home."
"Wait, wait, what the fuck is going on?!" Sanji tried to ask, but Zoro pushed him away back towards the exit and shouted at him to leave again as he began to power his way through the crowd.
Sanji stood where he was, frowning and trying to make out where Zoro was rushing off to, when, through the crowd, he saw.
Usopp was cornered back against his display, trapped between the wallspace and the woman whom Sanji had met earlier, though she was now accompanied by a tall man adorned in thick looking furs. Together, they loomed over Usopp, who was visibly shaken by whatever it was they were saying to him.
A strong, sinking feeling consumed him as he watched Zoro finally make it to Usopp's side. He looked every bit as tough and mean as Sanji knew him to be as he stood between the two and his friend, and though Sanji wasn't near, he could tell that they were speaking about him.
'Shit,' he thought to himself as he hesitated, debating with himself on what he should do next, when the woman began to turn around to point him out.
"Fuck," he muttered under his breath as he bolted back up the steps, escaping as quickly as he could before they'd (hopefully) noticed him.
When he reached the street, Daz laughed at him outright, prompting Sanji to flip his middle finger out at him before he began to jog down the walk to his car, unsure of what was going on and what he should do to help. As he ran, an idea struck him, and he pulled out his phone and began to dial Nami.

Gloomy Days II
Alright, the second chapter is here! I mean, it was there before, only in German and it took me the better half of today’s freetime to translate it, but I hope that it’s going to suffice. 
I just wanted to say that I’m incredibly thankful to the people who liked the first one and even reblogged it, you don’t know how much that means to me (besides the obvious “Hey, someone seems to like it. I did not totally waste hours on end writing it! It’s something!”).
That said, this one was done relatively quickly because, yeah, I didn’t have to write it from scratch. Chapter III might take a little longer because my time is limited and I don’t have a clue how to even start that one. It’ll feature several - smaller - sub-chapters, showing off the PoVs of all the Straw Hats presently there. Maybe I’m going to release them one by one or in a bundle, can’t say that right now. What’s your opinion on that matter, dear reader?
Whatever! Let’s cut to the chase, stuff is about the same as in Chapter I, Italic are the character’s thoughts and so on. The meaning of the passages of the songs I quoted in the beginning and the end is as deep as you’d like it, personally I think they just influenced my writing of the chapter as a whole a lot. That said, I’d really like to encourage you to listen to the CSN-song, it’s beautiful.
As always, I really hope that you can force yourself to enjoy this one too. Try to have fun and be careful out there, we wouldn’t want to see you go hollow.
Chapter II – Haven't we lost enough?

It ought to be the single best day of her life and, considering it from the outside, there was no reason to doubt that. Not only was Cassian, her husband-to-be, born into a wealthy family, but he was without the spoils that one could associate with such an upbringing, not to mention his good looks, his benevolence towards her, his family and even the servants one could find in any corner of his ancestral home. Tall, dark and handsome, keeping himself in good shape without transforming into a brick shithouse, more lean and with carefully defined musculature. Exactly the way she preferred it. Besides those obvious merits he had also enjoyed professional education in the liberal arts – he even supported her every step of her way when it came to the pursuit of her own passion, cartography -, and has thus been forged into a well-rounded person and a worthy heir for his family name. He even showed genuine care towards her tangerine trees and took it upon himself to find a place for them in their expensive garden so that they were never too far away from.
And he did not smoke.
Some might consider that a more trivial matter, but the smell of tobacco always reminded her of Belle-mère .. and of him.
There was nothing but grief to be associated with it.
Back to the good things though! Not only was she about to marry a wonderful person, but she was also about to meet with her old friends, the kind of friendship that could easily identify as blood-relation, mind you. She recalled that Zoro had answered her call, as had their former doctor Chopper and even Luffy came out of the woodwork to be with her. Robin, of course, was quick to accept the invitation and arrived a few days earlier to help wherever she could. That's what friends were for, right?
And .. Sanji.
She was gravely surprised when she heard from him again. Surprised and shaken. Even when she was writing the invitations, she envisaged that he wouldn't even care to answer or come up with some half-baked reason not to attend, and she would've been fine with that. But he answered, said that he'd come and even until this very moment, she did not know how to handle it. Calm down, girl. You're getting married today!, she reminded herself, shaking her head and examining her appearance in the mirror in front of her.
Never had she been more beautiful, more marvellous than today, she thought. The dress she wore was perfection, shimmering in a soft white light as if someone lit a fire in the darkest of nights, it was incredibly well tailored and an enormous amount of money had to change the owner for that to come to pass, but every single belly was worth it. It was off-the-shoulder to show a little more of her flawless skin and the fabric felt like paradise incarnate, fitting like a second skin. And her hair, her hair! Robin surpassed every expection and had turned her hair into a piece of classical art, producing a complicated put-up hairdo that just underlined her magnificient, fiery mane. Contact between both women had been few and far between since the Straw Hats disbanded, maybe a letter or a short call every few months. But when she arrived, everything was as if she'd never left. They shared a long and warm embrace before Robin congratulated her on her wedding and the good catch she'd made with Cassian. But the most important thing was that Robin did everything she could to make her feel like a fairy tale princess. And just to top it all off, she agreed to be her witness!
This is going to be the most wonderful day of my life and nothing could change a damn thing about that!, she reckoned, turning away from the mirror. The ceremony was set to start in about half an hour and she was sure that Luffy would be in the kitchen, begging for food again. Maybe reminding himself of his old, careless persona. A few minutes ago, Robin had left to look for him, because he too had an important role to play: He was to lead her to the altar. When they were still travelling together, she always felt like he was an older brother, at times even a substitute father.
When they were still travelling together.. Just, no! Don't think about that, girl! You'll just ruin your makeup!, she sternly admonished herself. Thinking about the past was normally a very tear-intensive issue that did not have any place within the happiest day of her life. For a moment she remembered how happy she was that he accepted the duty to lead her to the altar and a soft smile formed upon her lips. Luffy.., within a heartbeat, she felt foreign in her own body, rising from her chair, walking numbly towards her wardrobe, opening it.
And there it was, antiquated, dusty, not having been worn in what felt like aeons, but still full of memories, both good and bad.
Everyone of them hit rock bottom when friendship and dreams were just not enough anymore to keep going, nakamaship ended where reality ensued. Defeats strung together and on that single, impossible day they had to bury a beloved member, giving in to his final breath, it just became too much. Disbanding did seem like to only way possible to keep on living.
Some of them cried overtly, herself included, while others went for a bland, emotionless façade.
Behaving like that was one of the things she could never forgive Sanji for.
Don't get that wrong though, she begged and cried and pleaded for everyone to stay, hopelessly. Robin had gently touched her face, breathing a kiss on her forehead, telling her that it was the only way, the only logical conclusion. Franky and Chopper cried without remorse, holding each other as if the world depended on it. Zoro had been hard, as expected, mumbling about becoming the best swordsman in the world anyway, even without them. Usopp had tried that too, but before too long, his veneer crumbled and he too finally cried, besides being the only one of them to have at least some beacon of hope waiting for him at home: Kaya.
And finally, when there were only three of them left, Sanji abandoned them. It took a while for her to admit that him leaving hurt the worst of all, she even fell to her knees, trying to stop him, didn't want to let go of his hand.
And he didn't even look at her.
Sanji, the Black Leg, who's element had always been fire, might as well have been former Admiral Aokiji in that very moment. Just standing there, silently smoking a cigarette, being an unmovable object.
Sanji had also been the only person she did not have any contact with during all those years. No letter, no call and especially no visitation. And it was a good thing. After the end, there wasn't a single day for months that went by without weeping. And eventually, she had to abandon Luffy too. Devastated didn’t even start to describe his condition. His friends, his family, the people he trusted probably the most in the entire world walked out of his life, one by one until no one remained, leaving a wound that would never even start to heal.
And exactly that was the point that he gave his beloved strawhat to her. Disbanding their small family of pirates had also been the funeral of their dreams.
A few years later, she met Cassian, who immediately began to court her like she was a princess or something similar, an otherworldly beauty. After she got herself into the relationship with him, it didn't take long for him to propose marriage, which she accepted without respite. After having lived a restless life for so many years, Cassian was a gift, an anchor in this world and for that, she was unendingly thankful towards him.
Her whole body shaking, she lifted her hand. Fingers long and delicate beginning to touch the strawhat affectionately.. so many memories, so much time spent together, all the fortune, hell, even all the mishap they had to endure, represented in such a simple thing. But it all ended in tears.
I should just burn it! I don't want it here any longer! .. and I'm sure that Luffy doesn't want it back either.., she felt her eyes tear up, breathing became troublesome as she tried to fight them back. Hastily, she shut the closet tight and turned around, never wanting to look back at this relic ever again. Until she would eventually do it, some habits were hard to break away from.
Trying to focus her mind on the wonderful time that was lying before her, she rushed towards her dresser to dry the corners of her eyes. It was going to be a golden time for her, the best time of her life, she would've everything that she ever longed for: Money, security .. and love?
She slowly shook her head.
"That's not exactly the right time to think about that, don't you think, girl?", she told herself, but it sounded more like a question. Cassian had confessed his love for her on more than one occasion, but she only always replied by kissing him, silently hoping that he'd interpret it as her reciprocating. Truth was, she did not know if she loved him. What was so important about that anyway, really? Even if she was unsure about it right now, the wedding would certainly change it for the better, right? Some, probably old, person would proclaim them husband and wife, in front of his family and her old friends, those that once were family. Even more than that.
Moreover, she'd heard more than enough stories about old couples who only gradually, during their married life, started to actually love each other. Why should it be different for her?
Again, she started inspecting her appearance in the mirror, needing to make sure that everything was still perfect, that she was still perfect. Even through the shaking of her head, her hair was still a piece of art. Dilligently, she started examining her eyes, these gentle, big brown eyes, even more emphasized through the subtle use of eyeshadow.. Sanji said that he'd rather drown in them than in the All Blue. The thought came so suddenly that she nearly choked on her saliva, she literally shocked herself and, in consequence, shook her head fiercely to get rid of it. Over all these years they travelled together, Sanji had said an unending amount of things to an equally unending amount of beautiful women, heart-eyed and wobbly-bodied, like an ape drunk on love, but out of all the things, why did she remember that one?
Because he was normal when he told me. Because he openly declared that I was more important than his dream, that once-in-a-lifetime-moment when it seemed that he was serious about it, she answered her own question. Some memories already began to fade, but she'd never forget that single moment until the last of her days.
Because, and that she clearly recalled, she was happy.
Oh, and how deep she fell after he abandoned them – no, her! - anyway, despite the words that left his mouth. No more tender, endearing words. In that very moment it seemed that he hated even the thought of touching her. Every single thing he said was a lie. Only I could've been dumb enough to actually start trusting him, right? That is never – ever – going to happen again. She tried, needing  to encourage herself, because the day had come to see him, look into his deep blue eyes again. She promised herself that she wouldn't weep. Never again and especially not because of him. It was ironic in any way imaginable, normally she was tough, strong and didn't weep easily. Maybe I should restrict myself to just noticing him, maybe a nod. And that's all, shouldn't be too much of a hassle. Again, she wished not to have him invited at all, but it was too late for that.
It was then that she noticed a cautious knocking on her door that dragged her out of her own thoughts, forcing reflexes to take over, spinning around and staring at it.
It was also then when she spoke without even thinking clearly, her voice a little too loud, her lips betraying her.
"Sanji-kun?!"
Of course it wasn't Sanji who opened the door. Oh my god, you stupid dumb girl! Why in the world should he be here?! You need a sober mind now and he's the last person in the entire world that you want to see anyway!
Slowly and with a slight smile on her face, Nico Robin entered the room.
"Not exactly, dear navigator-san. He's here though.", her knowing smile even widened a little when she spoke, carefully watching Nami's expression. "Don't worry, my dear. It's perfectly normal for the bride to ask herself if she's doing the right thing. I'm just here to tell you that I found our captain-san and that he's waiting to lead you to the altar. The guests have already taken their seats.", speaking, she gracefully strode towards Nami until she could finally embrace her friend, paying special attention not to ruffle her hair or muss up her dress. "I .. I'm not asking myself if I'm doing the right thing..", the bride-to-be responded, immediately regretting the oh-so-obvious lie. But even if Robin minded, she did not show. Slowly, she loosened the warm embrace to lock eyes with her, gently touching her face with delicate fingers. "Don't worry about a single thing, my dear navigator-san. Every single one of us came here to prove to you that you still hold, that you will always hold, a special place in our hearts. And nothing can change a thing about that. No matter how many years pass."
The bride-to-be was astonished by these words. Sure, Robin was always polite, sometimes even motherly, but even in the best of times you couldn't call her emotional. Tears erupted again, but this time, she did not care, instead trying to focus on the eye contact between them.
"Do you think that I'm doing the right thing?", the last few words were little more than a faraway whisper, her voice wasn't entirely under her control anymore. And neither was her body. The shaking started with her hands and would soon reach the center of her body.
"Are you happy?"

Note: This was supposedly for Nami’s birthday last year but I didn’t get to finish it on time. Not that I did as well this year. But I don’t want to drag this for another more year or so. And since it’s still July, I figured I can still make it work. Better late than never right?
This is for @redpakwan​. AU setting. College zeitgeist. Yet super late. Forgive me. I hope you still enjoy this.
The omedetou in the last part actually has two meanings. In case you are familiar with the Japanese language, you’ll get the implication. *winks*
Summary: All of their friends are present at the party tonight! Even those who she barely knows and acquainted with her only through common friends. Yet Zoro who was supposedly close to her, wasn’t here!
“Ssshhhh! Quiet now!”
Usopp shushed the fidgeting and whining Luffy beside him.
“Quit squirming like an ant is biting your butt!”
“But Usopp…” the black-haired lad bemoaned. “It’s taking too long. I’m starving!” His stomach made a rumbling sound and a horrified expression crossed Usopp’s face.
“Shut up. Just wait for a few more minutes!”
“I can’t! I can smell all the meat that Sanji cooked!” A drool dropped down the side of Luffy’s mouth. “I can’t resist anymore!”
“Oi! Can somebody put a fucking gag on that moron’s mouth?” Sanji hissed somewhere from behind them. He had pushed the swinging door leading to the kitchen (where he was hiding) open to glare at them. “He’s gonna ruin our surprise!”
“Sanji! I can’t wait anymore!” Luffy shouted from his hiding spot.
“Aho! Don’t you dare move from that spot or I’ll tie you to a chair and make you watch us eat all the meat you specifically requested that I cook!”
“Demo…”
“Uruse!”
“Shhh! Quiet down guys!” Franky called out from beneath the bar counter. “She’ll be here any minute now!”
“Usopp,” Sanji drawled, throwing a handkerchief at the curly-haired lad. “Gag him if needed.” He nudged his chin at the boy beside Usopp, who was pouting at being denied food.
“But he bites,” Usopp complained even as he caught the hanky.
“We all have to make sacrifices...”
“Damn you!”
“She’s already here.” Robin announced from her position at the bar’s window. The raven-haired woman was acting as their lookout. “She’s about to cross the street,” she added before sauntering away from her location to join Sanji in his hiding place.
“Robin-chwan,” the cook greeted suavely as he opened the door wider to let the older woman inside. Then he turned and barked at the others. “All of you quiet down now! Anyone who makes any shitty noise will not be allowed to touch any of the food!”
“But, San—mmph!” Luffy opened his mouth and Usopp promptly shoved the small cloth inside.
“Everybody shut up and get ready!”
The bar door opened with a soft tinkling sound.
“SURPRISE!!!” They all shouted simultaneously as they popped out of their respective hiding places… well except for Luffy, who had to spit out the handkerchief in his mouth.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAMI!!!”
The sound of confetti poppers exploding alongside the hoots of party horns and lots of clapping and cheering immediately followed the greeting.
It was Nami’s birthday. And they had planned a surprise party for her at their group’s favorite bar. It had been a real challenge to pull it off since everyone was busy preparing for the university’s ‘hell week’—those torturous days before the summer break officially starts.
Plus, it was kind of hard to keep it hush-hush since some people in their circle are terrible secret keepers (namely Luffy).
But somehow they did. And Nami—as sharp as she is—didn’t have any inkling on what was going on, given the way her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open.
“Ah ma cherie!” Sanji crooned as he twirled across the room, kneeling down on one knee in front of the newcomer. He presented a heart-shaped cake with flourish—with all the candles lit up. “Otanjoubi omedetou!”
Nami looked genuinely astounded as her brown eyes wandered at the grinning faces of her friends.
She blinked a few times and her lower lip quivered slightly. “You guys…” she whispered, bringing a hand to cover her mouth.
For a moment, she looked like she was going to cry.
Then her face broke into a largest smile.
“Minna! Arigatou!!!” She squealed, clapping her hands together delightedly.
The loud hoot of the party horn filled the room as Franky blew on it again before bellowing, “Supeeer Happy Birthday Nami!!!”
That signaled another round of applause and shouted greetings as the well-wishers approached Nami to greet her up close.
Sanji—who remained kneeling on one knee before her with her birthday cake—nearly got shoved to the side by Luffy and Usopp as they both sprang towards the orange-haired girl to give her a hug.
“Oi temee you idiots!” Sanji shouted. He was barely able to save the cake from the two morons.
But the two were oblivious to his swearing as they launched into a rather off-key happy birthday song, which the others soon followed.
Nami winced slightly as Usopp and Luffy belted out the song just right at her ears. They were saved from her punches by Robin approaching and placing a party hat around her head.
“Happy birthday Nami!” The older woman greeted and Nami grinned at her, holding the party hat with one hand and trying to shove Luffy and Usopp’s faces away from her.
“Thank you Robin!”
The birthday song ended rather exaggeratedly high and Nami tried very hard not to wallop both of her idiotic friends who had made it a contest to see who can sustain the last note longer.
“Enough! Both of you!” Sanji roared as he stood up and kicked Luffy and Usopp out of the way. He presented the cake to Nami again and said charmingly, “Nami-swan if you please.” He motioned to the cake he was holding. “The birthday girl has to make a wish first before blowing the candles.”
“Arigatou Sanji-kun,” Nami smiled at him and leaned forward, tucking a strand of orange hair behind her ear. She closed her eyes, silently stating her wishes before blowing the candles out.
“I hope you wished for your prince charming to—ooof!”
Luffy excitedly elbowed him out of the way to greet her again, almost toppling the cake off the blond’s hand again.
“Nami! Happy birthday!”
“Damn it Luffy!” Sanji desperately and comically tried to save the cake before it falls flat on the ground… and luckily succeeded.
Luffy ignored him and the ever-enthusiastic lad yelled. “It’s finally time to eat!!! Sanji serve the meat!”
“Aho!” Sanji bellowed and hit him in the head. “You nearly made me dropped Nami-san’s precious cake!”  
“Ooops sorry!”
Robin giggled as Nami smiled wryly. Even during her birthday these morons just can’t stop themselves.
“Alright you guys!” Usopp suddenly hollered from her side. “Start calling the others! Nami’s happy 23rd party’s about to start!”
Nami whacked him on the head… hard.
“I’m just twenty you idiot!”

It hadn’t taken long for the bar to be filled with guests. Almost all of their friends and colleagues from the university attended the celebration. Not to mention, those friends also brought their own pals to enjoy a night of overflowing free food and drinks.
Not that Nami minded. She knew most of them anyway. If not, her friends definitely knew them.
Plus, you can bet she’s gonna charge their freeloading asses anyway.
Her eyes roamed around the room, noting the individuals who were present. She was enjoying her beer at the bar counter and taking a break from all that socializing and thanking her birthday guests.
Usopp had taken the responsibility of acting as the DJ for the night. An upbeat music was now playing and Luffy’s attractive older brother Ace had taken over the dance floor with his buddies.
Brook has just arrived from his band practice and Luffy ran off to greet him. Sanji was busy flitting around the female guests, crooning and spewing praises at them while Robin and Franky were sitting near her and was chatting with the bar owner, Shakky.
She gave a small wave at Kid and Killer when she spotted them. Both raised their beer bottles at her—a sort of silent birthday greeting. She mouthed thanks just as Luffy’s attention went to them and he launched himself at the two men much to their chagrin. She wasn’t really that close to the two seniors students but they’re both in the same fraternity as Luffy and Zoro.
Speaking of Zoro… is he still not here?
A frown suddenly appeared on her face and it deepened when she noticed the beer coolers stocked near the kitchen doors.
“Hey,” she turned to Robin, Franky and Shakky who stopped talking. “Why do we still have so much booze?” Nami pointed towards the large, still filled with beer coolers. “Considering we have a lot of guests tonight and most of them are drinkers… I’m surprised we haven’t broken the fifth one yet.”
“Huh?” Franky lifted his sunglasses and gazed at her curiously, before shifting his eyes to where she was pointing. Nami really doesn’t get it why he still wears them indoors. She just dismissed it as one of his idiosyncrasies… they all have one after all.
“Is there a problem Nami-chan?” Shakky inquired with a smile.  
“Nothing. It’s just that… it’s nearing midnight and we still have that many,” Nami observed. “Hmm… never mind,” she waved her hand dismissively. “It’s probably just a slow night.”
“Maybe those guys are still warming up.” Robin observed Ace’s group and the Luffy’s fraternity acquaintances, who were all shouting and hopping on the dance floor. Good thing Luffy and Ace’s other brother, Sabo, is out of town. Or there’ll be chaos in that floor now.
Shakky leaned down the counter and propped her chin on her hand looking at Nami with a glint of amusement in her dark eyes. “It’s probably because Zoro-chan’s not here to start a drinking competition.”
Nami’s eyebrows disappeared behind her bangs. So that confirms it.
“Oh? He’s still not here?” she asked, trying to be casual about it—even if she already noticed that her green-haired friend was nowhere in her party. “Really? Of all days to be M.I.A?”
“He’s probably late just like Chopper,” Robin said with a soft smile, refraining from teasing the younger woman since it was her birthday. She had seen the disappointment flashed across Nami’s brown eyes earlier. It was for a fleeting moment but it is there.
“He better have a damn good reason why he’s not here,” Nami grumbled, folding her arms across her chest. The nerve of that guy, missing one of the most important days of her life.
“Just relax girly…” Franky winked at her as he handed her another bottle of beer to replace her empty one. “He’ll be here. This party’s compulsory and has booze after all.” He guffawed, opening another beer bottle for himself and taking a drink.
“Compulsory?” Nami repeated, cocking one eyebrow.
“Yep,” Franky nodded. “We made it mandatory for all invitees to attend so we’d have more heads. As we promised Shakky when she let us use her bar for your party’s venue.”
Shakky winked at her. “Once the supply beer runs out, you have no choice but to buy here.”
Nami snickered. “I’m surprised you even let them bring beers from outside.”
“Not really,” Robin chuckled. “Those are from Shakky’s as well.”
Said bar owner winked at Nami again.
“Damn,” Nami just shook her head disbelievingly. Shakky’s negotiation and money skills are way beyond awesome!
Franky grinned. “So let’s just wait for him. Besides, what’s a party without any drinking competition started by Zoro?”
Nami nodded her agreement even as she huffed. “He has to get his ass here first before anything else. Or I’m gonna start charging by the minute.”
Franky winced at that while Shakky and Robin giggled. Nami was notoriously known for her habit of charging outrageous amount of belis whenever she thinks the situation calls for it. Almost everyone in their circle owes her a certain amount that just keeps increasing as time goes by.
“Hey!”
Usopp suddenly appeared near them. “Got any more beers?”
Nami eyed him warily. “Weren’t you supposed to be on the other side playing songs and entertaining us?!”
Usopp made a face at her. “A guy could use a break you know. You’re not exactly paying me for my services.”
“I thought you said you’d do it free for Nami since it’s her birthday,” Robin reminded him as Franky went to the coolers to get him a drink.
“I did?”
Nami narrowed her eyes at him. “You still owe me my gift you idiot.”
A sheepish laugh escaped Usopp. “Well consider my dj-ing skills your present then.”
“Cheapskate.”
“Oi!”
“Here ya go long-nose,” Franky handed him his request.
“Thanks Franky!”
“Aren’t you going back there?” Shakky inquired as she lit up a cigarette.
“Nah. I’ll take a break.” Usopp answered. “I just auto-played a playlist. It’s not like those guys really care about what’s blasting on the speakers.”
He shifted his eyes towards the dance floor where the crowd was getting louder and rowdier. “Besides… I swear I’m not gonna be surprised if a fight breaks out in a few seconds.”
“Why?” Robin queried with an amused smile. “Too much testosterone?” As unruly as the guests may get… they wouldn’t dare or lest they acquire Shakky’s wrath and forever be banned in the place.
“More like too much Luffy.”
Everyone nodded in understanding.
“Thank Kami Zoro’s not here.” Usopp gushed. “One less of a headache.”
“You do know if he’s here someone can actually rein Straw Hat in?” Franky said matter-of-factly.
Usopp waved his hand dismissively. “I know that of course. Anyway… Zoro’s like really, really late isn’t he? Has anyone tried to call him?”
Both Robin and Franky shook their heads.
A horror-stricken expression crossed Usopp’s face. “Oh shit wait! Did someone inform him about today?!”
Nami eyes were sharp as they zeroed in at her curly-haired friend. “You didn’t tell him about today?”
Usopp looked guilty. “I think I forgot,”
Robin raised her hand. “I did tell him. And I’m pretty sure Luffy did as well.”
“Whew! Thank heavens for you Robin!” Usopp sigh in relief as Nami punched him on the shoulder.
“Ouch!”
Robin just smiled. “Luffy wouldn’t let Zoro miss Nami’s birthday of course.”
“Yeah. That’s why he isn’t here now. That moron.” Nami complained, glaring at Usopp who flinched under her gaze.
“Hey I said sorry,” Usopp rubbed the back of his neck. “He’s just been kinda busy lately it’s hard to catch him. Honestly, I haven’t seen him for like a week now.”
“That’s what cellphones are for you idiot,” Nami groused. “So you can send him a message to remind him of important stuff!”
“Like your birthday party?”
“Yes!”
“But Robin said she already told him,” Usopp whined. “So he should be getting his ass here by now. He’s a grown man after all.”
“Unless of course he got himself lost…” Franky reminded them. “Anyway well know if he’s here. Sanji’s been blissfully happy all night. Let’s just wait for his—”
There was a noise coming from the entrance as another group entered the bar. The sound of Chopper’s voice excitedly calling for their names got their attention.
From the looks of it, the medical students had just been released from Dr. Kureha’s clutches and they all headed straight to Shakky’s bar for the party.
“Oh wait there’s Kaya!” Usopp perked up when he spotted his girlfriend just right behind Chopper. “I’ll talk to you guys later.” And just like that he ran off.
Nami sighed inwardly. Of all days not to show up and it looks like Zoro will chose this one which means a lot to her. She had been looking forward to this day too. It’s always fun to see her friends try to make it fun and special for her in their own clumsy ways.
Especially Zoro.
Ever since they’d known each other, he never missed her birthday. It doesn’t matter if he had no gift for her… he always make it to a point to be one of the first to greet her.
And sometimes the last as well.
But today… she still hadn’t heard from him. No call… not even a message!
It wasn’t easy to miss. Not when you’ve been waiting for that particular person to greet you.
Nami squared her shoulders. Now is not the time for the birthday girl to be down in the dumps.
There’s still time before midnight after all.

The party was already in full swing. The sixth beer cooler was already opened. There was a lot of drunken shouting, singing and dancing happening inside the bar. Nami was pretty sure that they’ll be seeing Luffy’s brother Ace dancing on one of the tables along with Franky any minute now.
Yet no tall, scowling, green-haired man made an appearance.
She glumly stared at the sprinkle-rimmed birthday martini in front of her. Shakky made it for her birthday. But neither the cute-looking, celebratory beverage nor its taste can make the sinking feeling in her stomach disappear.
It was past midnight. And Zoro is no show.
No calls, no messages… no anything!
Idiot probably forgot her birthday!
All of their friends are present at the party tonight! Even those who she barely knows and acquainted with her only through common friends.
Yet Zoro who was supposedly close to her, wasn’t here!
Nami clenched her fist and gritted her teeth. He’s gonna owe her for this big time!
She didn’t realize that Shakky was just right in front of her, chin resting on the palm of her hand, watching her.
“Don’t worry about it Nami-chan,” Shakky suddenly spoke up. Her eyes were still glinting with the same amusement as before. “I’m sure he’ll show up.”
Nami instantly turned red at that. “It’s not…. that’s not…” she stammered. But then she gave up. No use trying to hide it. The look on Shakky’s face clearly tells her that she knows what’s in her mind (or who, to be exact).
A determined look crossed Nami’s features. “If he doesn’t… I swear I’ll charge him so much, he’ll sell his soul to the devil just to pay me!”
That made Shakky laugh out loud. Luffy’s friends are always so interesting. That is why she is fond of them.
“He wouldn’t miss this for the world. Late he may be,” Shakky stated in a mysterious tone and smile like she knows something that Nami doesn’t.
Nami just gaped at her.
Then Luffy was suddenly hollering at the other end of the room.
“Zorooooo!” He was bellowing loud enough to drown the already deafening noise in the bar. There were shouts of protests and swearing as the young man pushed his way across the crowd to greet his friend. “Zoro’s here!!!” Zorooo! Oi did you got lost again?”
“Shut up Luffy and get off me!” A voice growled.
Nami perked up at the familiar gruff tone.
“Better late than never you dumbass,” Sanji was saying from somewhere. “Thought you got lost and ended up dead and decaying on the other side of the town. Tch! Too bad.”
“You wanna go cook?”
“Unfortunately I’m busy and don’t have time for you. Go scat.”
“Temee…”
“Zorooo!” Luffy whined, pulling the taller man away from Sanji and towards the bar counter where Nami was. “Why are you’re sooo late? Come on! You have to greet Nami or she’ll be mad at you and charge you so much money it’ll break you!”
A vein popped on Nami’s forehead as Shakky chuckled.
“Nami! Nami!” Luffy all but dragged Zoro towards her as Nami schooled her face into a neutral expression. “Look who’s finally here!”
“I can see that Luffy,” she huffed and narrowed her eyes at Zoro. “You’re late.”
Zoro scratched the back of his head as Luffy released him and started pestering Shakky for a drink like the one she has. “Sorry… got tied up.”
She raised an eyebrow at him. He was still in his after training ensemble—track pants, zip up hoodie, sports bag. It looks like he just came from Mihawk’s dojo or his gym workout or both.
“I just needed to take care of something,” Zoro was saying. “Anyway, happy birthday.”
“It’s already past midnight idiot! Technically my birthday’s done.”
Zoro glanced around him. The party is still at its height. “Apparently the celebration is not.”
She pursed her lips at his observation. “You better have a good reason why you just got here.”
“Shit. I’m gonna owe you big time for this aren’t I?”
“You bet your ass you already do.” The grin on her face was so evil that Zoro couldn’t help but think she really is the devil incarnate.
“Hey Zoro!” Luffy suddenly appeared between them. “Jaggy’s looking for you. Come on! Come on!” He was referring to Kid whom he fondly calls by that nickname. He hooked an arm around Zoro’s and pulled him towards where their other friends are and away from Nami—much to the latter’s disappointment.

“So why are you late?”
Zoro flinched slightly as Nami surreptitiously appeared beside him. He was standing outside Shakky’s bar, enjoying a few minutes of silence while drinking his beer. He had sneaked out of the party to get away from an already sugar-high and tipsy Luffy and the boisterous, smashed guests as well.
“Thought I already told you I had something to take care of.”
“Important enough to miss my party?”
He paused halfway to bringing the bottle to his lips. From the corner of his eyes he saw a displeased expression appeared on Nami’s face.
Zoro sighed inwardly. He should’ve known she was not going to let him off the hook that easy.
“Hey if it’s that important, then I have no complaints.” Nami raised both of her hands in mock-surrender.
He didn’t answer and instead took a swig from his drink.
“Just thought you were out busy with a date.”
Silence.
“WHAT?!”
Zoro had sharply swiveled towards her that Nami took a step back, hands still raised up in surrender. He was practically snarling at her.
She was teasing him of course. It was always fun to rile him up. Besides, he deserves it after making her wait for such a long time… intentionally or not.
Plus… she kept hearing snippets all night from their friends about why he’s been so busy recently (to the point that nobody has actually seen him) and why he was constantly absent at their recent group gatherings.
He’s dating someone. Stupid Usopp has whispered to Kaya and Chopper just as she was passing them on her way out to answer a phone call from their friend Vivi.
It made her insides twist and turn when she heard it.
To think he’d pick his date over her—his long-time friend?
What a jerk. She will wring his neck. Definitely.
She was so distracted with what she heard that she wasn’t able to enjoy Vivi’s enthusiastic greeting. And when she saw him stepped outside the bar to quietly enjoy the beer in his hand, she decided not to let the opportunity slip.
Zoro’s face was scrunched into a frown as he glared at her. “Where did you even get that idea?”
Nami bit her lower lip. “Usopp.” She unapologetically throwing her friend  to the sharks… or shark.
Zoro’s face darkened. “What did he say?”
“He said you were dating someone. So I assumed that’s the reason why we weren’t seeing much of you lately and also the reason why you are late for my birthday. And not  just because you were running around in circles again.”
The green-haired man studied her for a moment. His lone grey eye fixed intently on her. “Is that stupid long-nose making fun of me again?”
Nami blinked dumbly at his question. She’s not really sure what he meant by that.
This time Zoro’s frown had turn into a full blown scowl. “What the hell is that idiot up to now? I’m not dating anyone!”
And Nami’s face brightened at that. Good thing they were outside and the entryway of the bar was dimly lit or he will see it.
So Zoro was not really dating anyone? She fought the urge to smile. She’s gonna choke Usopp’s neck so hard later.
“Nami,” Zoro growled out. “Is that idiot making fun of me again? Because I swear I’m gonna hang him by his feet and we’re not talking about a tree this time!”
“Uhm… I don’t think so Zoro,” Nami’s lips trembled and she threw back her head and laughed. She recalled how Usopp spread a gossip about the older lad’s dating his ‘bokken’ before and Zoro literally strung his feet together and let him dangle from one of the trees lining up the front of their complex.
Zoro let out an irritated ‘tch’.
“So you’re really not out with someone?” Nami probed when she finished laughing. Of course she had to be sure. She still doesn’t know the reason why they’ve been seeing less of him lately or why he was late for her birthday party.
“No,” Zoro muttered. “I don’t have time for that.”
“Oh good,” Nami folded her arms across her chest, eyeing him sternly. “Because it that’s the reason why you showed up late for my birthday, I will raise your current debt amount so high you will be serving me eternally.”
He just smirked at her threat.
“And I’ll never forgive you.”
That made him glower at her. An unforgiving Nami is hard to appease after all.
She gave him a cheeky grin before swiping the bottle from his hand and taking a drink from it.
He glared at her, unimpressed with her antic as she childishly stuck her tongue out at him.
“Be glad it’s your birthday witch.” He muttered as he grabbed the bottle from her.
“Like I said Zoro, it isn’t anymore,” she reminded him. “That’s how late you are. You missed the whole day of it.” She was still peeved at him for that. Just a bit though.
She watched him as he exasperatedly rubbed the back of his neck.
And she smiled.
She was still glad he was personally here for her birthday. She can live with that.
There was a sound of pitter-patter coming from above them. And it didn’t take long for them to realize that it started raining.
They remained silent, watching the rain splatter on the street and on the pavement. Inside the bar, they could hear someone hooting. Probably Franky as he was on his eighteenth bottle when Nami stepped outside. And that was minutes ago. He’s most likely on his twentieth or twenty-first.
"Oi."​​ Zoro nudged her shoulder with his own, prompting her to look at him. He was suddenly standing a lot closer to her than before.
"What now Zoro?"
He pulled his hand away from the pocket of his jacket and almost shoved it in her face. "Happy birthday," he mumbled, diverting his gaze straightaway to avoid looking at her.
Nami was taken aback at the object in his hand. It was a small light orange box with a silver ribbon tied around it prettily.
She stared at it, then at him. Even in the dim light she noted the blush that appeared on his cheeks. Truth be told… a blushing Roronoa Zoro was gift enough for her birthday.
But of course she wouldn't say no to the present he was handing her.
She made a grab for it before he decides that she's taking too long in accepting it and retract his hand.
"Aawww... you didn't have to," Nami cooed and laughed when the blush on his cheek deepened and spread all over his face.
Cute.
"Shut up witch and just open it!"
"I’m really surprised you’re able to get me a present to be honest," she giggled. "And a fancy one too I might add."
Zoro grunted something that she didn't quite catch. She was far too busy untying the ribbon to pay any mind to whatever it was he's grumbling about.
When she opened the box, she didn't fight the gasp that escaped her lips.
Inside was a necklace. With a dainty thundercloud pendant.
She took it out… and a warm feeling suddenly washed over her making her cheeks tingle.
It was beautiful. It was perfect.
Nami lifted her eyes so she could look at him. Zoro was still engrossed on the empty street across them, watching the rain splash down on the ground with the droplets exploding everywhere.
It was really thoughtful of him. "Thank you Zoro."
He gave her a flinty side-glance. There was a smirk on his lips as he turned his attention back on the road. "It's nothing witch."
She glanced at the necklace again. She recalled they have a private joke back in high school that started one afternoon while watching an animated series on the old television set in Luffy's house. Nami loved one of the characters who had a knack for predicting the weather and whose weapon can conjure thunderclouds that produce lightning which the character uses to electrocute her enemies. "It'll be really handy to wield that. I can use it to electrocute your asses whenever anyone of you pisses me off. Especially you," she recalled poking his cheek harshly. "You're so goddamn hard to wake up whenever you are asleep." That had been so long ago. She honestly forgot all about it.
But Zoro remembered. She blinked rapidly as she felt herself tearing up.
Such a sweet gesture. And on her special day too!
Maybe she’s not gonna raise his debt and damn him into eternal servitude to her after all.
She lightly punched Zoro on the shoulder, earning a surprised glare from him.  
"What the hell are you hitting me for?” Zoro hissed at her, rubbing the abused part. “I already gave you a present!" "That doesn't mean you get a ticket away from my knuckles!" Nami countered. “That was for being late today of all days!”
"Oi! Gratitude you wicked witch!" He complained. "Do you know how many nights I've stayed behind to clean up Mihawk's dojo just to get you that?!"
Nami's eyes widened. And so did Zoro’s when he realized his slip.
She finally understood now… the real reason why he was not hanging out with them lately.
Why no one had seen him these past few days.
“Sooo…” she intoned as she glanced him mischievously, loving the expression on his face when as he realized that he just idiotically revealed what he was supposed to keep a secret from her. “You actually went to such lengths just to get me this?”
She almost burst out laughing when Zoro’s face turned so red and he stuttered his objection.
"N-no...I... ju-just..."
"Hmmm..." Nami hummed teasingly. "That's what you said."
"Fine!" He bit out. "Thought that gift would be good enough to cover three more future birthdays."
Nami chortled and tried to ignore the way her heart was doing cartwheels inside her chest from too much happiness.
"Do the honors Zoro," she requested as she handed him the necklace, turning around and pulling her hair over her shoulder so he can clasp it around her neck.
He didn’t protest and did what she asked. His fingers felt warm as they brushed her nape, as warm as the heat that was spreading on her cheeks and sending shivers running up and down her spine.
“There.”
She immediately whirled to face him. "So? How does it look?"
Zoro rolled his eye at her as she tried to dish out a compliment from him. "It looks... fine."
"Fine?!" Nami snorted in disbelief. "I swear Zoro, you can do better than that!" She looked down to check the necklace, touching the pendant while a pouting.
When she tilted her head up to look at him to chastise his lack of aptitude when it comes to flattering women… Zoro was smiling at her in a way that made her heart skip a beat. 
“It really suits you.”
The way he was looking at her right now made her want to kiss him.
Just like she always wanted to do.
Suddenly the bar door burst open and Luffy and Usopp ran out, excitedly (and drunkenly) shouting that the rain finally let up. Zoro immediately stepped away from her to prevent them from barreling into him.
And just like that… the one, rare moment between the two of them disappeared in an instant.
They both turned to watch the two hopped and danced in the middle of the street like a pair of lunatics. Chopper hurried past Zoro and Nami to join them.
“Oi get back here you dumbasses!” Sanji was shouting from inside.
Nami sighed. It was finally time to rein in the inebriated ones.
“I got it,” Zoro said nodding at her. The corners of his lips quirked up to give her a small smile, then he stepped out on the street to restrain the three before they can create anymore disturbance that might get them all in trouble.  
“Oi Nami!” Franky called out to her from the bar. “You and Zoro both get your asses here! There’s a lot more to drink!”
Nami nodded as she glanced again at the green-haired man who was now effortlessly hauling up Luffy, Usopp and Chopper by their collars back to the bar as they whined and griped.
"Nami-chan?"
She looked back to see Shakky standing on the doorway. "Problem?"
"Nah." Nami grinned. “Zoro’s just trying to contain the troublemakers.”
Shakky chuckled. “Zoro-chan’s really handy.” The woman paused momentarily, as if she was studying her. Then she said, "What a pretty necklace."
Nami’s hand automatically went to touch her necklace again.
“Omedetou.” Shakky gave her an insinuating smile. “Now come on. You and Zoro-chan’s still got a drinking competition to start.”

Being Jealous of Nami Wearing Luffy’s Straw Hat

A/N : My very first scenario oneshot. It’s a bit long, and the actual main scenario doesn’t start until a bit later. I just wanted to be detailed and give a bit of context, so it’s long... Sorry. 😅
Summary : After taking notice of the special attention Nami is getting from Luffy, allowing her to wear his special straw hat, [Name] starts to feel a little jealous.
You weren’t one to get jealous easily.
Really, you didn’t see yourself as that kind of person. You considered yourself to be pretty laid-back and not giving a damn about anything. You accepted what you had and how far you’ve come in life with the amount of work and effort you put in to get there.
So why did your chest ache so much now?
From afar was Nami laughing alongside Luffy, with the latter’s prized straw hat upon the navigator’s head. The two were smiling and making jokes, it seemed, whilst Luffy was fishing, his legs swinging over the railing and above the ocean.
You stare at the pair from up on the upper deck, leaning against the railing outside of the kitchen.
“[Name]~ my angel!~ Would you like some chamomile tea?” The chef’s voice calls from inside the kitchen rather loudly, him exiting to meet you outside on the upper deck.
Noticing your silence and staring blankly at Nami and Luffy on the main deck with pursed lips, Sanji let a softer smile place on his lips as he strides beside you, tapping your shoulder gently.
Blinking, you snap back to reality and glance beside you to see Sanji and let a weak smile fall onto your lips. “Sanji. Sorry, I didn’t hear you. Did you need something?”
Sanji didn’t say anything, simply keeping silent as he too, leaned against the railing and pulled out a cigarette, lighting it up to smoke. You watch Sanji a bit, before giving a glance back to Nami and Luffy, just as Luffy was reeling in a fish he caught, nearly falling off the ship.
“You haven’t talked to him yet, right?”
You close your eyes and let the curve of your lips tic upwards more at Sanji’s words and exhale softly beside him. “That obvious huh?” Sanji smiles as he pulls the cigarette away from his lips and huffs the smoke from his lips.
“You should say something.”
Ever since you saw Luffy willingly give his special hat to Nami on top of her head to wear, your heart ached so much that you had to find someone to talk about it with.
Who better than the love connoisseur himself?
Fortunately, Sanji was able to help you. Sure, he did cry tears at the thought of his captain capturing your heart, giving small curses to him as he did so, he did eventually calm down and explain to you that you were actually just feeling envious of Nami receiving special attention from Luffy.
Which of course, afterwards, made him proceed to curse Luffy a couple more times, sulking, and then praising Nami for being such an irresistible goddess. Which you chose to ignore.
“Yeah, if it was that easy.” You snort a bit at Sanji, shaking your head with a better smile, already feeling a bit better from just talking with him. Sanji let out a soft chuckle as well, turning his head to face you.
“Luffy’s a dumbass, so it won’t be too hard to sit him down and talk with him. Sure, he’ll be bouncing around so you’ll have to give him a hard knock on the head to make him sit still..” Laughing softly with Sanji, you were about to speak before being interrupted by a certain person’s yells.
“Sanji! Cook this Sea King for us!” Luffy shouts, pointing to the ocean where a sea king laid floating in the water, completely knocked out. Nami was beside him, holding the straw hat in her hands with a wide smile as well.
Sanji gave a small annoyed sigh but still smiled regardless, nodding. “Fine, it’s almost lunch anyways. Reel it in!” Sanji turns back to you, who was no longer smiling as bright and just watching the scene unfold below you.
“Usopp, Zoro! Help me bring this Sea King in!” Luffy shouts for his crewmates, who didn’t take long to come out and aid their captain.
Nami was now talking with Luffy and handing back the straw hat as the other two boys did the grunt work. You unknowingly frown slightly before turning away and walking off, heading down to the main deck, to get to your room. Sanji’s smile fades as he stares at your leaving figure, thinking of something to try and help you.
For now, he had to focus on prepping for lunch.

Everyone was currently in the kitchen, enjoying the delicious meal that Sanji had prepared with the sea king that was caught.
You didn’t take part in the activity, not quite feeling the appetite, so you used this time to relax in the bedroom and perhaps read a book. 
So, you were pretty startled when the captain suddenly called out for you, slamming the door open. “[Naaaameeee]!” 
Just as you look up, you found Luffy propelling himself right into you, knocking you both down onto the ground, with him on top. Grunting out in pain of the impact, you look up to see Luffy grinning down at you. “There you are! You missed out on all of Sanji’s food. He cooked the sea king I caught for lunch! Did you see it?”
He was peering down at you, hands beside your heads as he continued to lean down closer to you. Feeling your cheeks warming up at how close he was, you squirmed under him a bit and exhale. “Y-Yeah, I saw it, it was pretty big. I’m sure the food was delicious too.”
“Shishishishi- It was!” Luffy laughs heartily before slowly frowning. “You wouldn’t know, you didn’t come eat with us! Why?” You would push him off, but right now, you arms were stuck and trapped at your sides. “I just wasn’t hungry I guess. It’s okay though, it let you eat more, right?”
Luffy smiles widely, pulling back and slowly getting off, now sitting in front of you. “Yeah. I saved some for you though too. I didn’t want you to miss out on the delicious food.” He says, crossing his arms as he spoke. You were a bit taken back by this. Luffy, sharing and saving food?
You smile slightly and nod at Luffy, giving your gratitude. “Thank you, Luffy. I’ll remember to eat it later then, maybe we can eat together if I have a lot.” You offer, slowly sitting up straight and dusting your arms. 
The captain smiles at the offer before his lips began turning to a firm line. “Sanji said you weren’t feeling well. He said I should check up on you and talk. I noticed you’ve been quiet lately too. Is something wrong?” 
Luffy may be a dumbass and pretty reckless, but he isn’t blind. Naturally, as a captain of a ship, he had a crew to look after. He’s rather observant, so it wasn’t hard for him to notice that you’ve been different lately. 
Chewing on the inside of your cheek, you simply shook your head and sent him a small smile. “Nothing’s wrong, I’m fine.” You assure, standing up, but Luffy just tilted his head down, his hat shadowing over his eyes. He reached his hand up and immediately grabbed a hold of yours.
“Tell me, [Name].”
Hearing the tone in his voice made you widen your eyes slightly. You only heard this tone when he was extremely pissed at someone, like Arlong for hurting Nami. You pursed your lips before exhaling in defeat, sitting back down in front of him, this time, at a distance.
“As you wish, Captain.” Luffy looks up, removing his hand from yours and crosses his arms once more, tilting his head to the side this time, satisfied with your answer as he waited patiently. “So tell me what’s wrong.”
“Luffy. Do you like Nami?” Luffy furrows his brows in confusion, clearly having not expecting that, nor understanding why you would ask that. “Of course I do, she’s my friend.”
“Your straw hat is your prized possession, right?” You ask another question, this time a bit carefully and slowly, since you didn’t want to outright say what you were thinking. You close your eyes and pull your knees up to your chest as he spoke.
“That’s right. Shanks gave it to me, you know that.” Luffy raises a brow as he takes off his hat, staring at it before looking up at you. “I don’t understand what this has to-”
“You wouldn’t just give it to anyone then..So, why does Nami get to wear it?..” You mumble, looking away as you frowned once more, almost pouting. 
Though it was quiet, Luffy heard you quite easily as he suddenly became quiet.
You exhale softly, about to turn and speak again. Hearing footsteps stopped you as Luffy stood right in front of you, crouching down so he was your height and suddenly smiled warmly.
“Is that all?”
“Huh?—“
Before you could react, you felt something press against your head and look up to see Luffy, his hand pushing the straw hat onto your head so it was secure.
Luffy’s closed-eyed grin plasters across his face as he pulls his hand back so the hat rested upon your head by itself, chuckling to himself.
“I like you a lot, [Name]. I was worried that something was really wrong, that I did something to make you want to leave the crew.” Luffy says, chuckling more with joy, glad that wasn’t the case.
“But if you wanted to wear my hat, all you had to do was ask. It’s my special hat, but I trust you with it.” He says, his smile became softer as he watched your flushed cheeks warm at his words.
“Luffy, I—“
“Whenever you want to wear it, let me know. From now on, only you will get to, okay?” Luffy hums, placing his hands onto your shoulders before grinning once again.
“Wear it for a while. Shishishi! It looks great on you. Now, come on, let’s go eat some sea king!”
