obsessed by how fjmt's ideas on family evolve over the course of his work. love and sacrifice -- here, nayuta, forced into the role of the protector as opposed to the nayuta of the prophecy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i find it interesting how fjmt insists upon family and connection as formed within society and how this always inevitably leads to a rejection of society. agni and luna from fire punch are notable here too, their connection itself is used by the people around them to extract worth from their bodies. and in the end, this connection is what drives the revenge arc that togata directs for agni. but more importantly its what drives living, drives his participation in the aforementioned hostile society.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and togata directing this, then him, the director taking on the role of agni's sister, his family, is important re: denji because
makima is the director of part 1, the author who forms the family for denji. family, for her, are dogs (and she herself is one. she identifies through smell. she is kept and collared by the state) and she creates and solidifies aki and power into tropes to drive denji along her narrative. and yet, she craves affection that she can only engage with through subordination, domestication. this is how she's been treated, she surrounds herself with dogs, makes the chainsaw man she desires functionally her dog while imagining him in terms of freedom (in terms of a chaotic, masculine self).
and nayuta, born out of makima, is cast into this role in this chapter. fumiko calls what nayuta refers to as "family" her "pets", you see nayuta assume the role of the sibling in fjmt's previous work. this is chilling when you consider how nayuta itself reformulates Family in p2, acting as the thread that connects denji to the Plot, the story of normality, that he grapples with. an idea set out by makima, the normal life she takes away from him.
and barem! i've talked about how barem models himself after how he idealises makima before (his Dead Wifehood) but the punch, the irony in this is how he turns to nayuta, the control devil who loves and sacrifices and is driven into the narrative on her own, the makima that we knew existed in her search for intimacy, but one he is unable to visualise. and he points a gun (a gun!), the very thing she turned aki as denji's family into, at her reincarnation..

How Tatsuki Fujimoto writes Affection
First of all I would like to give massive credit to Tiktok user @campaign_baby for their Tiktok I saw on this that really made me think of it alot more
I will Bring up Examples from:
Shikaku
Mermaid Rhapsody
Goodbye Eri
Fire Punch
Chainsaw Man Part 1 (Quite a big spoiler in this will give fair warning)
Fujimoto has a sort of strange method he uses to write that a character Loves/cares deeply for someone. And its The character either being willing to be consumed or to provide sustenance to someone, Or to consume the other person. Examples:
Shikaku
After Shikaku confesses her love for Yucel, He rushes to the hospital to offer her his blood, Making her into an immortal vampire just like him. Yucel has also fallen for Shikaku, its basically his confession of love, He wants to live with her Forever.
Tumblr media
Its drawn in a way you can tell its such an act of compassion too.
Mermaid Rhapsody
"I loved her so much that I thought, If it was by someone with a smile as pretty as hers, Maybe being eaten wouldn't be so bad."
Toshihides Dad feels the exact same way about his Mom as Toshihide feels about Shijyu. Mermaids eat humans, But that never mattered to either of them.
Tumblr media
Goodbye Eri
Tumblr media
In Yuutas Movie about Eri, He writes her to be a Vampire, because he wouldnt actually mind to be her sustenance, In his movie, he loves Eri so much. (I genuinely cant read this fucking story without sobbing, Rereading it again just to get this screengrab just made me cry for like 20 min help)
Fire Punch
This one is Pretty straight forward, Agni with his regenerative powers feeds his village by continuously chopping of his Arm so they dont all starve to death. But more importantly he does this to prevent his sister from doing it aswell. He doesnt want her to suffer that pain so he takes sole responsibility for providing himself to the village.
Tumblr media
Agni also later feeds his followers with the help of Togata Chopping of the part of his face that isnt on Fire. I think this has more todo with making sure Togata gets fed rather than his followers, To Agni Togata means alot.
⚠️Chainsaw Man Part 1 (Spoilers for the Final arc)⚠️
When Power is about to Die, Power not only offers her own blood For Denji to Drink so he can get back to health, But Pochita also offers a small part of himself so she can come back as a Powerful Devil.
And ofcourse the big one is Denji Eating Makima. He obviously has to and all for the sake of erasing her. But he explicitly says it wasnt an Attack, It was an act of Love.
Tumblr media
Its such a fascinating thing that the idea of consuming someone can be concidered something you do to a cherished one, as an affectionate thing. I guess as Denji mentions that you basically become one with eachother in a way if you consume them.
But this is such a Weird thing Right? Where does this idea even originate from? Well ofcourse we can only Speculate but I really think he took on inspiration from his own life here, Because he has actually done this to someone he loved. Yes, Seriously.
Tatsuki Fujimoto eating his deceased Pet Fish
In the Authors notes for "Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man: 22-26" Fujimoto shares a story from when he was 24:
"Even though we were poor, we had a pet Japanese rice fish. I found it dead one summer. I went to toss its body into the trash like in Parasyte, but my girlfriend said she wanted me to bury it, So off I went to the park, alone. I tried to bury it under this big tree, but the ground was too hard, my hands got all dirty and I had no hole to show for my effort. Out of Options, I figured I would pretend I had buried the fish and left it lying there on top of the ground. As I watched it for a little while, ants found the body and began to carry it away. Im not sure what came over me, but in that moment, love for that pet fish welled within me for the first time. I brushed the ants away, and then Ate it."
You can read the full story here
Tumblr media
It has that "Wait what the hell am I reading" Charm to the story like alot of his works, But theres something so weirdly beautiful about this story, Somehow stricken with grief and love for this fish, He ate it. As Denji says, its not an attack, his fish is part of him now and its an act of love. So strange, yet so Beautiful.
Anyways thanks for reading this insanely long post if you even got this far I appreciate it!

I'm very disappointed that centaur zuko is a dragon but centaur toph isn't a badger
Sorry! Zuko is a dragon due to how I made the Royals in the verse have super special specialness via being dragon bloods. Zuko and Azula were legit "born to be special" and Zuko in this verse feels he doesn't live up to the task. It's sort of how I incorporated the whole "the royal family is blessed/favored by Agni" thing to this AU. The only dragons in this world are those who descend from the royal family, hence why Jet mentions how "being a dragon just means he's a royal".
This is also why he's able to pass as other species though, you don't see a dragon every day. You kind of assume if they don't have horns or are a weird color they're probably some other kind of lizard hybrid, and Zuko spends the majority of the first arc with his horns sawn off as part of his banishment. They regrow quickly once he joins Azula and goes home because dragon horns just be like that and grow back kinda fast if not continuously filed back down. This is also why he has a larger set in some pictures and none/smaller sets in others.
Toph isn't a badgermole because Toph learns from them the same as in the show. Where Zuko was legit born to be special and powerful and fails to embody it in ways his Father and he himself wants, Toph just says "screw fitting the mold" and learns to be powerful and do things outside of her "nature" by finding the origin of her element without being directly related to it in the same sense Zuko is. I did originally consider making her a badger or something similar but having her be a more unassuming animal felt like it fit her origin a bit better. The whole "small and frail" image society had of her. Zuko later learns from the original dragons, too, just like in the show. Because despite being dragons themselves in a way the royals have not honored their elements origin through anything but boasting appearances in a long time.
Hybrids of the original benders of course did exist at one time, and maybe still do, but they would likely be much rarer now after the Fire Nation started the war and are probably also more limited to people who have a special link to the origins. I haven't put much thought into that yet, beyond that the Fire Nation probably makes it very unsafe to be a descendant of those lines due to wanting all the power over them? Still world building on that part.
Toph really ends up helping Zuko accept that he doesn't have to just be the perfect whatever he is in this verse as well. She learned to be herself despite what she was born to be in the eyes of others, she helps Zuko understand that he can learn to be who he is despite the same. Sibling energy wins the day.
Basically, Zuko was purposefully made after what his bending element came from because it puts the pressure of perfection on him. Toph isn't because Toph just learns it from them herself because Toph is awesome and special in a different way. Her own way. The way she chose for herself in a way. Zuko thinks he is stuck trying to fit in a slot he's not made to fit, Toph just punched a hole to make it fit herself because she can and wanted to and who was gonna stop her?
Hope I explained this well enough to get the idea across, sorry if it's nonsensical and rambly I just woke up lol. I'll elaborate if something doesn't make sense. But this is the general idea I had behind why Zuko matches his elemental origin but no one else does. At least no one we've seen in the main Gaang.

Have you. Have you ever heard of 17776 because it's such a fun read and I feel like you'd like it. It's so hard to explain though you just have to read it. It's actually a website and all you do is click and scroll, there's also YouTube videos that you just watch on the Website it'self (you have to wait for them to load a few seconds but I just have bad Internet it might just be me) Ok also also theres also a sequel called 20020 in the same format I dont know how to explain its so good i promise
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m checking it right now and already at the first chapter. the website loading jumpscared me a bit but I immediately thought that I’m about to witness something interesting.
my first impression; I asked myself, why do people still play sports in the future? humanity has changed so much, and it’s mentioned that all social illness are gone (how convenient) and nobody has died/procreated. the the football of the future have changed so much that when you put them side by side, there’s most likely a huge different. a dissonance. throughout the 15000 years of immortality, humanity has probably grown tired of playing the same game with the exact same rules, thus adding new ones or expanding on said rules. they even turned a state into a football field (where did nebraska’s citizens go? I wonder). it’s fascinating how instead of creating a completely new game, humanity used the sport that they are most familiar with and twist and turn it around to keep themselves in a constant state of euphoria. they need entertainment for their infinite, neverending life where the future is a literal tomorrow.
what about the earth, then? are social illness really eradicated that easily? how can humanity get rid of the biggest blight that no other species has? or is it just so the authors can focus on the science fiction aspect of the story? the factor of immortality is possibly at play too. I’m continuing this after I got home from uni
this reminds me strongly of the lunarians from houseki no kuni and agni and togata from fire punch, which are inspirations for casa tidmouth. I’m a sucker for stories where infinite power or immortality are treated as a driving conflict instead of a blessing. thank you for recommending me this, it really is up my alley

when i first read fire punch i was a bit appalled by how absurdly grimdark it is to the point where i questioned how much of it was really neccessary to convey how fucked up and evil this world is. but after all of that and agni was told that he didn’t have to do anything violent anymore it had this extremely profound effect on me
and i still believe that it’s not something that someone should read if they are not the target audience, because the target audience is very clearly a group of people who are traumatized to the point of non functioning (that includes meeeee :3)
but i don’t really feel as though that much of the taboo and awful topics depicted have a level of “necessity” to them anymore because like, it fucking sucks to see those things happen. but i think that’s part of the point, as is the case with a lot of other media i’ve been seeing around lately (lisa the painful, fear and hunger, project moon games)
it’s got tw lists higher than the tower of babel because knowing how personal tatsuki fujimoto gets with his works, that is most likely what he feels. what he felt every day of his life, which can only be conveyed through all of that plus the visual of being set on fire for 8 years and feeling every second of it
and i don’t know, i... i just think that’s powerful. it’s what i needed to hear in my life when i first read it. that this awful and horrible pain, despite how bad it hurts, should not stop you from living.
this constant pain and suffering isn't "just life", it doesn't even have to define *your* life. you can be who you want to be past the pain.
you have to live.

The Spirit Tale of Fire Lord Ozai - Avatar the Last Airbender Fanfic
Rating: Mature Genres: Political Drama + Family + Paranormal Adventure = Slice of Life for Fire Lord Zuko Pairings: Mostly Gen, Tui/La (thus far) Characters: Zuko, Iroh, Azula, Agni, Various Spirits, OCs as needed Summary: When La demands justice for Tui's favored mortal, Agni proposes a compromise and spirits become more active in the world of man.
Or...
Fire Lord Zuko finds himself entangled in the spirits' schemes. He has been stripped of everything -- down to his name -- except for the golden flame that adorns his head and the throne from which he guides his country. He... has a lot he needs to process, and even more to do.
~.~.~.~.~
Chapter 1: The Meddling of Spirits
One moment, Fire Lord Zuko is drifting off to sleep after signing the last of the major peace treaties required to officially end the war between the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdoms. In the next moment, he is standing barefoot in a forest and unable to open his eyes.
"Who's there?" he snarls. He can hear his abductors whispering amongst themselves. He hasn't been left unwatched. "What do you want?"
This is far from the first attack he's suffered since ascending to the throne, but it's already the most successful. He has no idea how his kidnappers have removed him from his bedroom, let alone how they got past the high palace walls and transported him beyond the heavily patrolled streets of Caldera.
"Peace, Zuko of Second Fire," a man's voice says from directly in front of him.
Zuko throws a fist blindly at his kidnapper's head. The man laughs as he catches the punch.
There are no flames. His bending isn't responding. Has he been drugged? Is that how they got him out of the palace? The man steps closer -- Heat pours off of his abductor as if he is a living furnace. -- and presses the Fire Lord's fist over his own heart. Enough of Zuko's focus is on not panicking that he allows the repositioning of his arm without any resistance.
"Your favored has poor manners," observes a deeper voice from somewhere to his left, "Are you sure you wouldn't rather just end his line to pay the debt?"
Zuko stiffens. They're after more than just him. Is Mai also being held captive somewhere nearby? Has the baby been harmed? Does their reach extend far enough to threaten Uncle in Ba Sing Se? Do their plans include Azula and Ozai? Both have been officially removed from the line of succession, but that doesn't mean much to some.
"The council is agreed," the man in front of him refutes easily, "The debt can be repaid in full through my plan."
"If your favored is as different from the last three of his line as you think he is," the deeper voice huffs, "If. He is still very young, even for a mortal. He could become much the same as they were, given some time."
"He won't," the first kidnapper states in confidence, "He is young, but he has been tried thoroughly. He will not forget himself to the lure of power or ill-founded ambition."
"My brother is correct," a woman's voice joins the conversation, "Fire Lord Zuko has proven himself to be a man of honor and compassion to the other nations. Do not forget, beloved, my brother's plan also benefits our own favored."
"I have not forgotten, my love," the second voice says, "I simply remain unconvinced. Your brother's plan is radical and has many delicate balances. It may fail more easily than it could succeed, especially with this one's inclusion."
"His inclusion is necessary or the plan has little chance to succeed at all," the first states calmly.
"Who are you people?" Zuko demands, temper nearing its end.
A mix of grumbling and laughter answers him. There are... a lot more kidnappers surrounding him than he had previously thought.
"Oh, child of fire, I am afraid you do not yet realize the magnitude of the situation you have been brought into," the first voice says in gentle amusement. Zuko tenses as the man walks a tight half-circle only to stop behind him. The dull red that has been the shade of his closed eyelids fades to pitch black and a steady heat beats against his back. "Dear Tui, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Zuko of Second Fire, open your eyes and know those who address you today."
His eyes fly open as soon as the words are spoken and his legs immediately buckle at the sight that greets him. It is only the arm suddenly secured around his chest that keeps him upright. There is a second hand resting lightly at his throat. Zuko isn't sure whether or not that's meant to be a threat.
"Peace, child," the first man -- No, he is not a man at all. -- says, breath a warm breeze rushing past his right ear and cheek, "It is not our goal to harm you."
"Spirits?" Zuko squeaks, twisting to look at the being holding him. It is an attempt that is quickly thwarted.
The hand around his neck slides ever so slightly higher to put pressure on the underside of his jaw and effectively traps his head against the spirit's shoulder. Zuko swallows his pride and yields to the hold. It burns to do so, but he isn't equipped to fight spirits, let alone so many and without so much as his firebending to protect himself or a viable exit strategy. The hand at his throat reverts to being a deceptively light and unrestrictive touch.
The spirit laughs merrily, seemingly unbothered by the actions of the mortal man in his grasp. "Indeed," he answers, "This is the Council of Greater World Spirits."
Zuko scans the odd beings before him again but one in particular catches his attention, if only because she is the sole spirit approaching him. The female spirit is almost suspiciously normal-looking compared to the wilder physiques that some of the other spirits possess. Zuko frowns even as the spirit smiles at him. The form she wears is one he recognizes, but not in regards to any spirit.
"I know you," he says, "You were the Northern Water Tribe's princess."
The woman's smile brightens. "I would not have expected you to remember my favored's mortal form. It is a shame you and my Yue were never properly introduced to each other. I believe you would have gotten on well," she tells him, "My name is Tui."
"The Moon Spirit," Zuko whispers. The others have told him the story, about how Princess Yue sacrificed herself to resurrect the moon. Well, Sokka had told him the story once, after he had gotten drunk at some festival, and the others had clarified a few things when Zuko had thought to ask. He's still not completely sure which parts of the tale were factually true and which parts were alcohol-fueled rambling.
"Yes," the pale spirit says, "It is a pleasure to meet you, Zuko of Second Fire."
"Second Fire?" the man amongst spirits finally asks. He's heard the phrase too many times now to continue ignoring it.
The spirit at his back chuckles softly before answering, "I bestowed the gift of flame upon the dragons first, and to mortal man second, child of fire."
"Agni?" he questions weakly.
"So I am," the spirit responds.
He's being held by the greatest deity of the Fire Nation, one of the great spirits that support life throughout the entire world. He doesn't know how to process that thought.
"Tui, if you would," Agni requests as he continues to support Zuko's shock-numbed body.
"Of course, Brother," the moon says before returning her attention to the Fire Lord. "You would no more be able to gaze upon the Sun Spirit's native form than you would his physical manifestation in your world's sky without being blinded by his great light. It is, as it has always been, my happy privilege to reflect Agni's brilliance. Please, allow me to be the means through which you might know my brother's face."
Tui turns on her heel and suddenly a very different spirit is standing in her place. Or, not quite. The Moon Spirit's form remains, as if in dark shadow, behind the shining reflection of Agni. It looks as if the two spirits are standing back-to-back in the space intended only for a solitary spirit. It's surreal but, from what Zuko has heard and occasionally experienced, spirits only make sense about half of the time anyway.
The hand at his throat carefully closes Zuko's dropped jaw for him. The reflection's outstretched arm and hand don't quite line up with the fingers he feels gently pressed against his jaw, but it gets the point across well enough. Agni's reflection looks unexpectedly fond. That's... probably a good thing?
Zuko feels himself being lowered to the ground but he can't tear his eyes away from the reflection sinking into a relaxed kneeling position in front of him. The arms retreat for a moment but heavy hands soon fall upon his shoulders and Zuko honestly isn't sure if he currently has enough control over his own body to prevent himself from falling down completely without the support. Again the reflection is an imperfect match for the real thing, given the angles, but he can't be bothered to care when he's staring up at the face of Agni.
"I have a task for you, Fire Lord," Agni says, expression turning serious, "I am sorry to say it is not one you will be given a choice in taking up, but the council is in agreement that you deserve to be told why it must happen."
Zuko tries to breathe through the building panic. "Okay," he wheezes past his fried nerves, "I'm ready."
"Three years ago, Zhao of Second Fire attempted to slay the Moon Spirit."
"I remember," Zuko says through his tightening throat, "The Ocean Spirit sank the entire invasion fleet and dragged Zhao down to the bottom of the Northern Sea. I saw it happen with my own eyes."
Agni tips his head in a shallow acknowledging nod. "The Ocean Spirit swept up Zhao of Second Fire into a fate far worse than that of a man drowned at the sea floor, but that is a matter already settled. La's actions that day repaid in full the debt for daring to attack a spirit. However, Tui's favored was lost to the mortal world as a result of Zhao's actions and that debt has yet to be repaid. Balance would require that I, likewise, take from the mortal realm my favored. It is no secret that I have promised my strongest blessings upon my first children, the dragons; the leaders of my second children, the Fire Lands' royal line; and the mortal bridge, the Avatar.
"Yue of the Northern Seas was the only favored of Tui and La among mortal men. The council reached the decision that balance and justice would require that every living member of the Fire Lands' royal line be wiped from the mortal realm."
The breath in his lungs stutters as he processes the meaning of Agni's words.
The spirits have condemned his entire family to death.
"No! Please, I can --"
"Peace, child mine." Agni's hand cups his unscarred cheek and Zuko feels a face press against his hair. "And listen well." The spirit withdraws so Zuko can again see the reflection's face.
He can't give up without a fight, and especially not when the fight is for more than just himself. Still, Agni has bid him to listen and he has learned the hard way that it is often best to listen before acting. Zuko takes a steadying breath and nods.
"This was not a decision the council reached quickly and, in that time, I had put together another plan to repay the debt. My proposal caused yet more arguing amongst our numbers, but, eventually, my plan was accepted. Only Ozai of Second Fire will be removed from the mortal world."
"Oh," Zuko's relief bursts from him in a gust of breath that he had not meant to give voice to. Ozai's death will doubtlessly cause a stir, and there will likely be rumors of patricide, but... Considering what the alternative is, he has no complaints. He'll find a way to deal with the fallout.
"There is more to the plan and it will demand much of you," the spirit warns, "It will not be accomplished quickly."
"I can do it," Zuko promises. Whatever the plan is, he'll do his part. For Uncle, and Mai, and the baby, and even Azula.
Agni smiles but something about the Sun Spirit's expression is nonetheless pitying. "You can and I have faith that you will, but, as I said, you are not being given a choice in the matter. You will take up this task. But you will not be working alone. Now that the council is set on this course, many spirits are eager to participate. Tui and I in particular will remain near to guide you, and lesser spirits may also seek you out to offer their services."
Agni retreats and stands. Zuko's head is swimming under the warring relief and dread but he manages to remain sitting upright. "Now, we should get started," the Sun Spirit announces. "La, are you ready?"
The oddly normal-looking Water Tribe man that is actually the Ocean Spirit, apparently, flashes a shark-like grin. "Don't worry about me, King of Flames. I've had more practice in the mortal world than any of you in recent memory," he says in the same voice that had earlier disparaged Zuko's manners and openly wondered if they shouldn't go back to the old plan of indiscriminately killing his entire family. "I'll manage just fine."
"Wait! You still haven't told me what my task is!" Zuko yells.
"Your task is nothing more or less than you would do regardless, given what you have already been told and the situation we are sending you into," Agni says, "Be an honorable Fire Lord. Seek to create and maintain peaceful relations between the Fire Lands and the rest of the world. But please, child of fire, take some time to rest and think. The path before you is long and difficult."
"My moon," La says, offering a hand to Agni's reflection, "let us begin."
Tui spins and Agni's visage drops from her form like the illusion it is. The Moon Spirit takes the ocean's offered hand. She smiles at Zuko as she says, "Remember, young Fire Lord, the burden is not yours to bear alone. We all must do our parts. Call for us if you have need. We will answer."
Agni briefly touches the back of his neck and Zuko has to resist the urge to glance over his shoulder at the Sun Spirit. "I give you now the same charge that I once gave your forefathers: Fire Lord, my blessing is upon you. Go forth and tend to my children and my lands. Bring prosperity and honor to that which has been entrusted to you."
Between one moment and the next, Fire Lord Zuko exits the spirit world as abruptly as he had been pulled into it.

Flames (Bonus Chapter - 1)
Blue Fire
Tumblr media
Pairing: Zuko x Reader Universe: Canon Words: 866
Flames - Main
Summary: you can't stand the way it ended with Zuko's sister. (This is a bonus chapter for my three-chapters fic 'Flames', but you can also read it separatly)
Warnings: angst, angst, angst, a lot of angst sorry
«Are you sure you want to do this?» «I am the Fire Lady, how would I look like to the people if I didn’t take care of unresolved issues?». Zuko smiled looking at you, his eyes drifted to the small crown adorning your combed hair, «It’s been a year and it’s still weird to see you dressed so formally» «Well it feels weird too, I certainly prefer my old uniform» He lifted the corner of his lips, looking at you from top to bottom «Or your ‘bed uniform’». His lewd comment earned him a soft punch to the chest, even if you doubted he could feel anything under the royal armor.
«Alright, for the last time. Are you sure you want to be alone?», he asked when his chuckles died down, thumb caressing your cheekbone «Yes, your presence would only make her more hostile» It was obvious that he didn’t like your idea, but he also knew how stubborn you could be when you got something into that hot head of yours, «I’ll be right here, if you need anything». He left a small kiss on your lips before letting you inside the room.
During the Agni Kai against the former Fire Prince, you noticed how battered Azula looked like; but seeing her in that condition, tied to a chair in a straitjacket, with dirt hair covering her hallucinated eyes while she angrily muttered under her breath, made you realize how fragile Zuko’s sister really was. «Look who’s back», she chirped before you could open your mouth, her voice almost consumed and piercing through your ears «The little whiny kid who decided to entirely destroy my life»
«You know it’s not like that». But the girl in front of you just burst in a hysterical laughter that made you jump, her shoulders were shaking before she stopped abruptly looking to her right and growling a “Shut up!”. «You’re just like those two fakes I used to call friends. You used me for power and then, when you realized that you would never be at my level because of your weakness and stupidity, you conspired to destroy me. And you’re the worst of all, with those big innocent eyes… now look at you wearing my crown» Her words dug a hole into your chest, raising an upsetting sensation of guilt inside of you «Why do you hate me so much?» «Because it’s all your fault!» she screamed, trying to jump from the chair and making the restrains struggle to keep her seated, the creaking of the wood and the fabric accompanying Azula’s screams «You convinced that stupid moron of my brother that he was a good person, a leader. So he went against my father and was banished. And I was left alone with him! No mother, no uncle, no friends! Ty Lee ran away right after and Mai didn’t come back to the palace anymore. I was here alone with my father and his rage! You think you’re good and that I’m evil but you’re a horrible person just like me!»
Spit ran from her lips and you found yourself trembling under her red-hot gaze «I-I always considered you as my friend, I didn’t have any idea that they…» Another dark chuckle, «Don’t make me laugh. I was you enemy from the start» You shook your head, trying to blink away your upcoming tears «Azula… I’m sorry…» «Don’t pity me! You hear me?? I was never your friend and I’ll never be!», locks fell from her messy bun, framing her face in a even more disastrous way «So cross that door and go back to my fake excuse of a brother and sleep in my bed in my palace» You just ran away from the room, letting the servants to close the door before collapsing against the wall with ragged breaths. «Hey hey, Y/N», Zuko, who was just a few feet away, reached your side in less than a second, immediately holding your shoulders. «Are you alright? What has she said to you? I swear I’m gon-» «I’m fine», you muttered. You found comfort in his caresses, his soft gaze and the little kisses he placed on your temple.
«She’s not okay Zuko», you said after a while, you hand searched his and you interlocked your fingers together, feeling your boyfriend breathing softly against your hair. He was tense, but at the same time he knew he could trust you with all his being, letting his guard down; «Just… don’t leave her alone» «I won’t». He kissed your neck softly, nothing mischievous behind it, just a reassuring little gesture.
«Do you want to feed the turtleducks?», you asked after a while. He moved away from your neck with a happy grin creasing his lips.
Tumblr media
Spirits, he’s just So. Fucking. Cute. But before you could blush at your own thoughts he took a step behind keeping your hands locked together, «You lead, my Fire Lady» he said, and you could feel your heart skipping a beat as he pulled you to him, bringing his lips to your before you could even start to act upon his words. Yes. He’ll be a perfect Fire Lord, brother and partner.
| The End |
Hiiiii, so sorry for the angst ;) BUT I tried to make it up by adding a bit of fluff at the end. Aaaaaand.... Hype your avatar stand ass*s because the next bonus chapter is gonna be a full and juicy SMUT. Hope you liked this chapter! See you next fic!

Personally I like to imagine that, during The Day of Black Sun, after Zuko confronts Ozai, a guard tells Ozai that Iroh has escaped. Ozai demands news on where Iroh could be, as he refuses to lose two prisoners.
He gathers himself and goes to find Iroh, seething after Zuko has bested him. He needs something to let his frustrations out upon. Eventually, he catches word, and he goes to confront his brother out in a clearing near the coast.
Iroh stands, solemn, silent, and daring. He isn’t afraid.
Ozai’s hands become engulfed in flames as he approaches the ‘Dragon of the West’. He taunts him, laughing, about how he belongs in that cell for ‘his own good’. He doesn’t mention how Zuko was going to go find him. Instead, he tells Iroh that no one wants him; no one loves him. He’s a failure; a disgrace.
Iroh doesn’t move. He doesn’t back down or flee. He doesn’t advance.
But what Ozai may have in sheer power - Iroh has the knowledge of a general.
Iroh has years of war stitched into his hands.
The fight is brutal, something that’s been building for decades. Ozai finally exacts his bitterness over being the spare child - while Iroh gets vengeance for Zuko, and, dare he say it, vengeance for his pride after being overlooked for his birthright.
Ozai’s fire and lightning are nearly outmatched - but Iroh’s force, his brutal strength and determination keep up with Ozai for what it’s worth; punching and scraping his brother with nails that have been chipped away from weeks inside a prison cell. His own fire and lightning are powerful against Ozai, but that’s not what he wants to use... in the end he needs to, but he wants Ozai to know his full wrath.
The scuffle is violent; neither come out without blackened eyes or bloodied noses. Skin is littered with cuts and bruises and burns; hair is singed and pulled and matted.
Azula watches from nearby, having caught up. This is no Agni Kai - it’s a dirty, vicious brawl with snarled teeth and more screams than actual words.
It’s something Azulon had become accustomed to breaking up when they were younger and more agile.
The agility was still there, but in it’s place was years of seething, simmering disgust.
Azula is about to intervene until both Iroh and Ozai cut her off with a barrier of fire, continuing to settle their score with screams that sprayed blood and spittle towards the other.
The Dragon battles The Phoenix, and there is no winner and no loser. Iroh manages to exploit a wound in Ozai’s ribs, punching it until Ozai can no longer stand and struggles to breathe; but he knows he can’t waste any more time before Azula finally intervenes to save her father, so he makes his escape.
Thankfully, Azula is more concerned in helping Ozai than in chasing him, which means he’ll only have to worry about regular soldiers tracking him. He can rest a little easier knowing Azula’s keen tracking sense won’t find him before he can be long gone, even with a limp and burning lungs, he can outrun these ordinary young pups.
Just long enough until he can meet the other Lotus’ and get some backup.

The End Of The Beginning
Melusine had not expected that finding Imatar would be the easy part, but there they’d been, sitting on a dusty slope and hugging their knees while they waited.
“Please tell me you have my clothes,” they said.
She’d been ready to yell at them for losing track of their things—again—before she remembered, oh yeah, she did have them. The pants were stuffed into the pouch attached to her belt while the shirt and undergarments were hanging half out of her pockets. They frowned at the crumpled state of the garments, but come on, what did they expect? She wasn’t an attendant who carried their clothes.
“Boots?” they asked.
“Ah. I lost them during the landing.”
“Damn it, Mel. They don’t make them like that anymore. Literally. Have you seen their footwear?”
“Look, it was a rough landing for all of us. I was barely able to keep myself from slamming into the ground.”
“Excuses, excuses. This—” Their words cut off, and their back straightened. They whirled around, fingers hooked into claws. “More are coming.”
Melusine hissed. Glowing dots on the horizon were getting closer, and there was another one in the air.
She pulled them into a run, and it wasn’t long before she spotted the flash of Agni’s power, a blinding light stretching into the sky as if he’d been summoning them. Unfortunately, she wasn’t the only one who answered the call.
“Where do they keep coming from?” Imatar grumbled.
“Doesn’t matter. Just punch any you see.”
“I mean. Yeah. Obviously.”
The beam of light vanished, and she quickly concluded Agni engaged some of the warriors. She picked up speed, losing Imatar in the darkness, when a sharp report rang out and fire pierced her chest. She hadn’t realized she’d been thrown back until she slammed into the ground, unable to pull air into her lungs. Her chest had shattered. Shadows bled together into a veil of darkness. Gasping, her flailing hands clawed chunks of dirt. Suffocation was never a pleasant death.
Then she was breathing again, and something small and hard rolled off her chest. She got to her feet and Imatar stood over her, their clothes tossed over their shoulder, the wind exploding from their fingertips.
“Assholes,” they said. “At least you didn’t get hit in the head. That sucks.”
“Where are they?” Melusine asked.
More blasts echoed around them. She grabbed Imatar’s arm and pulled them along. No time to fight. They had to find the others.
“They’re still following us!” Imatar yelled between pants. A problem for later.
Grass, hills, stones sticking out of the earth like broken teeth. Agni had to be around here somewhere. And Ereshkigal. A hand closed around her wrist and Melusine whirled, ready to strike before she remembered she wasn’t alone. Luckily Imatar’s reflexes were quick enough to duck out of her grip.
“They’re this way,” they said.
They came upon Agni standing among a pile of bodies, and sure enough, Ereshkigal was there with him, her shaking hand still clutching her Divining Rod. They really should have gone on ahead, but of course they had to wait until Melusine told them to get their asses moving. They always acted like they didn’t need someone directing them, then they stood around like a bunch of morons while a frigging volcano was getting ready to erupt.

Media Interaction 2022
November
Fire Punch - This is Fujimoto's other work besides Chainsaw Man and I felt that I liked Fire Punch more than Chainsaw Man but that might just be out of spite.
Fire Punch is significantly darker than CSM and lacks elements associated with most Shonen. You are instantly thrown into the barren wasteland that is Earth after entering its second ice age and there is no sugar-coating how awful society has become (huge trigger warning for this manga and its nonconsensual subject matter) super powers are a big theme in this manga and the unique way Fujimoto writes it as part of the plot often leaves me wondering realistically how society would react to humans born with superhuman abilities. Long after Earth entered the second ice age and froze over humans began to develop superpowers and often those who were born with them are called "blessed". There is a cruel irony to being born blessed because whatever superpowers you may have whether it's regeneration, fire, electricity, or mind reading you will go your entire life being exploited for resources due to your superhuman abilities. I enjoyed the protagonist of Fire Punch, Agni, a man of few words and out to seek revenge. I seem to be particularly attracted to anti-heroes and not only does Agni express his anti-heroism through his actions but also through his design. Agni is perpetually engulfed in flames due to his regeneration powers, it is not humanly possible for him to wear clothes. He is completely naked at all times with his flesh burned and charred, there is no iconic super suit he is just "the fire man". Like most works by Fujimoto the side characters are simply written to serve their purpose and nothing really else but I greatly enjoyed the secondary main character which is Togata. Fire Punch is not only a fantastic manga because it acts as an antithesis to the superhero genre but also because of its sincere depiction of male-oriented representation. I deeply appreciate Fujimoto for making not one, but two manga series that depict LGBT-friendly characters that are important to the plot and are never used as fan service or come off as homophobic presentations.
Onanie Master Kurosawa - I think this manga has some of the best character development I've ever encountered. Still, there is no way I can even begin to recommend this to anyone when trying to describe its initial premise. Kurosawa the protagonist is an anti-social schoolboy that holds a deep resentment for his classmates and spends most of his free time sneaking off to the girl's bathroom and jerking off within the bathroom stalls. This manga IS NOT a hentai and neither is it a slice of life. Onanie Master Kurosawa really takes a deep psychological turn when Kurosawa decides to stand up to the local school bullies and by doing so he spreads his semen all over their uniforms and stuffs them into their gym bag for them to find an awful surprise that puts them in their place. Kurosawa does this as a selfless act to stand up for one of his female classmates that is the primary target of harassment that Kurosawa is sick of seeing tortured every day in class. Things go smoothly for the next few weeks until Kurosawa is approached by his female classmate Kitahara who figures out what he's been doing all this time in the girl's bathroom. Kitahara asks Kurosawa to get back at every single one of her school bullies by spreading his semen all over their uniforms which sends Kurosawa into a downward spiral. What went from being one of Kurosawa's treasured pastimes in the girl's bathroom is now an agonizing chore that leaves him constantly thinking "I pray that I can finish this day without dirtying my hands." At only 4 volumes this manga takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions with no filler that drags anything out. Each character is written exceptionally well and feels like an actual tangible person. By the end of this manga, Kurosawa has one of the biggest redemptions I've seen in character development that leaves him reflecting on his attitude towards his peers and learning to overcome his cynical anti-social behavior and reach out to his classmates to form a meaningful connection. I think this is a fantastic series that proves that not everything with sexual themes is inherently fan service or straight-up porn and instead shows an essential aspect of developing sexuality.
Kuso Miso Technique - This is the very manga that spawned the yaranaika shit post and probably one of the greatest things I've read. This is a short explicit one-shot about two men that fuck each other in a public bathroom at the park. Kuso Miso Technique in English translates to "shit soup technique" so I bet you can never guess what goes on between these two men. Besides being rather silly and gross, I genuinely enjoy Yamakawa Junichi's art style and how they draw men. I hope to find more translations of their work even though most of it is just one-shots of gay men fucking each other.
I Married My Best Friend to Shut My Parents Up - This is a very short yuri romance consisting of one volume that is about two adult women that are best friends that live together and decide to get married. The protagonist of this story is a woman constantly bombarded by her parent's expectations. As a way of lashing out and standing up for herself, the protagonist decides to marry her roommate, her best friend. At first, their marriage is meant to be some facade made up by the protagonist to use for her own convenience but instead blossoms into a true romance between each other. This manga was unfortunately way too short for me to feel invested in it and I felt like there weren't enough scenes with each of the girls showing their intimacy for each other to make me satisfied.
Yume Niki (manga) - Apparently there is a manga adaptation of everyone's favorite rpg maker game. This is only a single volume with 9 chapters but it's not canon to the game. The art is very nice but the story wraps up too quickly, I'd say it's fine at best.
Kemono Friends: Welcome to Japari Park - This manga is an adaptation based on the first Kemono Friends gacha game and was published just a little before the anime adaptation aired in 2017. The story of Welcome to Japari Park I would assume happens way before the events of the first season of the anime. We are introduced to a human protagonist named Nana who is a new caretaker at the recently founded Japari Park. Nana is tasked with taking care of Serval-chan and Ezo Red Fox and the 3 of them have all sorts of hijinks. This manga is very basic but surprisingly has a lot of crumbs to offer up as lore within the Kemono Friends timeline so I found it entertaining to read in that aspect.
Kemono Friends: Comic à la Carte - this is another Manga adaptation of Kemono Friends based on its first anime adaptation. Comic à la Carte is more of an anthology with various comic strips featuring the cast of characters from the first season with each comic strip illustrated by a different artist. I, unfortunately, could only find the first volume of this comic anthology translated into English. I know there is a localized physical release of each of the volumes so I hope that someday I will own them so I can continue to read them.
Supinamarada! - This is Noda's other work before Golden Kamuy which is also set in Hokkaido Japan during the winter season. Supinamarada is 6 volumes but unfortunately, I could only find translations up to volume 3. Like anything Noda makes, I got surprisingly attached to this manga and I am absolutely devastated at the lack of translation for Supinamarada. I've never read a sports manga before but I feel that Supinamarada has turned me on to the sports genre and piqued a new interest in me. I dearly hope this series gets some sort of attention in the future and receives the translations it needs.
The Munsters (2022) - I've never seen a Rob Zombie movie before so this was my first time experiencing one. I thought it was ok, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't excellent either. I think Rob Zombie is talented when it comes to costume design, makeup, set design, etc. He has a very good artistic vision but the writing was very bland and I think I laughed at one joke throughout the whole thing. I do think the Munsters (2022) is a very acceptable origin story for how Lily met Herman Munster and how they moved from Transylvania to their house in California where they would then begin their family from the original show. I have noticed Rob Zombie has this intense desire to give his wife the lead role in every one of his movies when his wife cannot act. Something very weird about this movie that bothered me while watching is that I think this whole film is filmed in real-time. There is no motion smoothing and it's very odd and noticeable during the film.
Azumanga Daioh (manga) - A year back I had a 25-dollar gift card to Barns & Noble and found the complete Azumanga Daioh omnibus but it wouldn't be until November that I actually read my way through this incredibly massive book. Azumanga is probably one of my favorite animes so owning a physical copy of the stellar source material was an excellent investment. I think Azumanga has the most appealing art style I've seen out of the entire slice of life genre because it's so iconic without being too "moe" and simple without being too uninspired. Something I appreciate about Azumanga is the subtle realistic changes over time in any of the girl's physical appearance, whether it's styling their hair or switching from their winter school uniforms to their summer uniforms. I deem Azumanga as the true "slice of life" because isn't about cute girls doing cute things but rather 6 girls that navigate their way through high school. Azumanga ends with each of the girls graduating high school and moving on to college which I think is an extremely heartwarming ending and a major achievement for all the characters to end on.

Okay, I've seen numerous posts on how Zuko pulled some airbending moves against Azula in their Agni-Kai, but I haven't seen many people mention his use of water bending techniques (aside from redirecting lightning).
Tumblr media
In the very opening moves of the fight, Zuko uses motions that, in my opinion, are very waterbending-esque. Azula throws straight up punches, but Zuko? His first move is to wave his arms, give a hop, then put his arms low and to the side, then bring them forward and up. This is very reminiscent of water benders summoning a large wave.
This results in a wave of fire that is just as powerful as Azula's, but executed in a completely different way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, it doesn't end there. Later in the fight, Azula and Zuko performing more brute firebending, like an arm wrestling match, but Zuko mixes things up.
Tumblr media
The show illustrated this neat sequence where Zuko and Azula seem to be mirroring one another by have there atomic fire blasts deflect off one another, making for awesome imagery and showing Zuko grit his teeth and reposition his stance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But when they are finished with this exchange, we see how much destruction there is, and Azula looks surprised when she sees the burning building behind her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For years I was so convinced of their symmetry that I was confused as to why Azula was taken aback. After seeing so many lore theories though, it finally hit me:
Azula never meant to deflect Zuko's fire. Their blasts working like that was all Zuko's doing, because he was redirecting Azula's fire, which takes cues from waterbending.
If this is correct, it shows not only how much Zuko had learned and grown, bit just how much control he had over the duel.

[Spoilers] Chainsaw Man Chapter 134 thoughts, theories, and Ramblings
Hoo boy Okay. That was a chapter.
Sup its been a while, I didnt have too much to say about previous chapters but I got some thoughts I wanna share about this one, Its starting to become very interesting.
Well thats not actually true, The Church of Chainsaw Man and such is very interesting, but itll have to be another post!
First I wanted to talk about the Girls in the School hallway because I think they say some very interesting things:
Tumblr media
"Nostradamus isnt a Devil y'know!"
But... by all the laws we know of this world, with enough fear from humanity its made manifest in Hell. And heck if things like Tomatoes have Devils then surely The 1999 Prophecy or Even Nostradamus himself must have manifested in Hell. "Oh but Nostradamus is a Specific person not a concept" So were Nazis, and we know there was a Nazi Devil that Pochita erased. and even so his prophecies are kind of concepts. I think they could definitely manifest as Devils in Hell.
Also I absolutely adore Fujimoto for blessing us with some Denji Nayuta day to day life stuff. Even if they are discussing something so serious as the Church getting Violent. Its starting to remind me so much of Fire Punch with the Church of Agni stuff.
Tumblr media
I adore all the interior shots we get of Denji and Nayutas apartment, I can see all the love and joy they have together with everything its so heartwarming, From the Funny Far counter from like 10 chapters ago or something, to the Stickers on the toilet door, all the Dogs and Nyako, Everything is so nice. He really has gotten a Normal life, Or well being a Teenage boy raising a Kid is not normal but you get what I mean.
Tumblr media
I think its adorable that he consults Pochita when he is uncertain. He fianlly has his normal life but... Is that enough anymore? Why does he feel like he needs to aim higher? Nyako fan service too, love to see it.
Now to the Meat and bones of the chapter Fakesaw Man makes an appearance. And I think its safe to say we have his Identity.
Tumblr media
Devil Hunter Club member Seigi Akoku. I think its funny that i was reminded of Fire Punch so much lately when this guy bears a Striking resemblance to Agni himself.
Also hey thanks for the Reaction images of Denji they are incredible.
But I think its pretty fascinating its pretty much like alot of us thought (If his story is to be believed) He is a chainsaw man lookalike thanks to his perverted sense of Justice granted by the Justice Devil. Now he is so Powerful seemingly that one has to wonder what kind of Power he has trough Justice. Is he contracted, Is he a Hybrid? Is he a Fusion like Asa? Whatever he is, Im certain that Fami has him under her control. And im sure he can read the Minds of people like Yuko could, Im sure Fami might have told him anyways but hed know of Fami, Yoshida, Asa, Denji etc. He probably also Killed Yuko to get rid of a Justice Fiend.
What the hell is Fami aiming to achieve with all this?
How is Yoshida gonna react to Fakesaw man? Or is he gonna exploit this opportunity to Kill Nayuta if Fakesawman transforms? Pretend he isnt aware. Arent we all supposed to be on the same side here guys?
Fascniating stuff really.

Before Tatsuki Fujimoto wrote Chainsaw Man, he wrote Fire Punch, a manga I've just started reading. I was looking forward to writing a post where I pointed out elements the two had in common, things Fujimoto revisited in his later work. And there are things like that, like how both Denji and Agni are basically unkillable and strong enough to win most fights without much effort.
[EDIT: Between queuing this and posting it, I came across an affably evil dog lover. Much worse at hiding his evil side than you-know-who, though, and nowhere near as interesting.]
But that's not what stood out to me the most. What stood out to me more is how much clumsier Fire Punch is with its heavier themes. CSM includes almost every kind of abuse or trauma one person can inflict on another, natural and supernatural, but it all feels like it's there for a specific purpose. Fire Punch feels like it's just trying to make Agni's life as edgily sucky as possible.
One example stands out to me as being particularly egregious. Agni and his sister Luna both have potent regenerative powers. Also, the world is frozen. During one flashback, we see them chained up in a shed by people who chop off their legs as an inexhaustible supply of "firewood".
That's how they're treated; not as people, but as objects, resources. The guy harvesting Agni's legs points out that firewood doesn't talk whenever the former speaks up. This is creepy, it's horrible, it's dehumanizing. As an emotional beat, it's really strong!
Then the harvesting guy tries to r*pe Luna, prompting Agni to break his own arm to escape his shackles and fight back. And that's the last we hear of that plot point. It's not a point of trauma for Luna in the chapters we see her in, it's just another part of Agni's sad backstory.
In my opinion, this attempted r*pe isn't just another example of sexual violence being thrown in for little more than shock value; it actively weakens the sequence it's in. It weakens the dehumanization of Agni and Luna; after all, you don't try to f*ck firewood, do you? That dehumanization is the best thing about that scene (from a narrative perspective), and the r*pe weakens it.
I struggle to think of why Fujimoto would have written the scene that way, aside from the fact that he was just a less experienced or thoughtful author than he was when he started Chainsaw Man. It feels like a mistake, pure and simple.
I don't know how to wrap this up with a conclusion. Think twice before you throw an edgy plot point into your stories, especially if it involves sexual violence, I guess?

If you like Chainsaw Man
Recently the manga Chainsaw Man has won certain popularity due to premiere of the anime in October, for this reason I would like to recommend others works of the author (Tatsuki Fujimoto) to read while waiting for the next chapter.
Look Back (2021)
Look Back it´s a One Shot that talks about Fujino, a fourth-grade student that spend her day to day drawing comic strips for the school newspaper. Over time her comic strips become the sensation of the class, until one day, Kyomoto, a student who refuses to attend classes, also wants to send her drawings for the school newspaper, being praised by her classmates, but generating the envy of Fujino, who is dedicated to practicing with the purpose of surpassing Kyomoto, until one day they meet each other.
It´s a very interesting story that can be to reflect or at least to hang out and being a One Shot is quick to read.
Sayonara, Eri (2022)
Sayonara, Eri is another One Shot of Fujimoto, where the story of Yuuta is told, a young man who, at the request of his mother, he films her during her illness until she dies, all this with the purpose of creating a movie which he will later premiere at his school, this leads to bullying from his classmates when he makes the decision to end the film with a big explosion. After this go up to the roof of the hospital with the intent of kill himself, but at that moment, he meets Eri, who manages to stop him.
As the story progresses it, can get a bit confusing, but is very interesting how leaves an end to our interpretation.
Fire Punch (2016)
Fire Punch is a manga about Agni, that together with his sister Luna live in a frozen world because of the “Ice Witch”. In this world the people die of hunger and cold, but exist people blessed with powers, who are wanted by the soldiers of different capitals to be used as raw materials. When looking for the blessed who lives in the village of Agni and Luna, the soldiers learn that the inhabitants have been consuming human flesh, so they burn down the village with flames that never go out, but Luna and Agni were blessed with regeneration power, but Agni was stronger, so it is impossible for him to die by fire, different is the case of Luna who dies, now, cursed by the fire and the pain, Agni decide to take revenge.
This story can be more heavy than the previous ones, but I think it can be quite interesting.
Without nothing more to say, thank for reading.

Azula and Zuko Co-Fire Lord
This is a slight follow up for an idea of zuko not being the firelord (even tho he's still firelord) in my previous post, while also being an azula redemption
So, in this idea, Azula is allowed to be the fire lord for some time, seen as ozai promotes her a while before sozins comet, but it still comes with the whole being left behind as ozai leaves to make a solid plan for invasion before the comet, during this time azula realises how terribly unprepared she was for this position. Her manic episode on coronation day calms down but she isn't totally there yet. She's paranoid, distrustful, still has occasional visions of her mother in the corner of her eye and has night terrors more often than not.
The whole thing has her at her wit's end, only worsening her mental state as she has to increasingly rely on advisors she's certain are plotting to betray her, all while she convinces herself that she's failing her father by not being as good as him at being the Fire Lord.
Sozin's Comet comes, Aang and ozai's fight goes the same as the show's, maybe a bit more dramatic due to ozai's preparation, but the Final Agni Kai goes very differently. Azula is exhausted, she's low on sleep, her ears are filled with conflicting advisors, she's reaching the same breaking point as she did on Coronation Day, until Zuko and Katara run up to the doorway of the palace. She sees a way out, maybe she could throw? Maybe she could just surrender? The fight starts, but Azula didn't have the time to throw, when she tried to throw her first punch she collapsed, exerting herself too hard and passing out as she hit the floor.
Now zuko doesnt know what to think, but he's pretty sure he won? And looking at his exhausted, passed out sister puts her in a hospital with the royal doctor to fix her up while he settles in.
However, Zuko runs into the exact same problems azula did. He's not ready, he can't handle the pressure, and quickly puts 2 and 2 together to realise thats why azula passed out the moment she threw a punch, so, similar to how he went to ozai to find his mother, he goes to azula to ask how she handled being fire lord.
These visits start being regular, as azula is slowly healed from how badly she treated her body for weeks. We do know from the beach that they can be more than civil in an isolated environment, so I think that as long as he didn't come all dressed up basically gloating (though I dont think he would)
They would slowly grow closer, perhaps to the point where Zuko asks the doctors not to dismiss her for a little longer because he doesn't want the visits to end, but eventually azula realises shes not getting any better, adn they let her out, with zuko cautiously (and very condtionally) invites her to the palace.
They would eventually grow closer and closer, as being the firelord starts taking more and more of a toll on zukos mind and body. Zuko gives azula a small responsibility, something he doesnt have time for like assigning schedules to the maids, or checking up on the royal guards armour and weapons.
As their trust grows, azula gets some more responsibility, and decision making power after a few months she's basically a de facto Fire Lord 2, but it's not until something big happens, like Azula saving Zuko from some Ozai loyalists, or peacefully solving a difficult situation in the colonies she gets a promotion, and as time goes on, they become equals, sharing the burden that once crippled them both, and being as close as they can be in spite of ozai efforts.
