Here, have a little crappy speedpaint I made to go along with the fanart.
So for all the post-campania fanfiction (to which I have contributed, link in my pinned post if you’re interested) there is very little fanart, and I am here to change that!

All or Nothing and lowave records
Strap in because this is gonna be a long one. This post will try to shed some light on how the whole lowave records thing works, how you can use this music, how it is being distributed, and what all a contract with lowave would include. All this and more below the cut!
Let us start with the basics: What is lowave records?
Quite succinctly summed up on their website as follows:
Tumblr media
They make and distribute royalty-free music for content creators - specifically video-format content creators like Youtubers and streamers - they share some streaming revenue (30%, we'll get into that) with the creators who are labelled 'co-artists' and get promotion of their music through the content creators.
So, that brings us to the next big question: What is royalty-free music?
This is music that is free to use. Yes, by anyone, by Dan and Phil, by other creators, by you and me, any of us. This is by no means a new thing of course, anyone who has created content online would have come across other such services. just as an example, bensound.com hosts a large library of royalty-free music which you can use in any video by simply crediting the site in your description. Lowave works in a similar fashion. The music is not copyrighted. However, the rights to the music are held by lowave records and there are limitations on its use, which we will get into ahead.
How is the money working (preliminary edition)?
I will add details to this later when I discuss the contract, but let's see the info we get straight away from the FAQs: You do not have to pay them anything to make music for you
Tumblr media
The money is coming in from the streaming platforms, depends completely on amount of streams, and is shared between lowave and the creators
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also from the FAQs: how can this music be used?
Anyone can freely use any of the music from lowave records, which means that yes, you can use any music from All or Nothing for your purposes with credit, it will not be taken down
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is this the only music we will hear on dapg now? Will there be more albums?
Not necessarily! This isn't an exclusive deal, DnP can use any music they want on the channel. As for new albums, seems like it depends on how this one does (and it seems to be doing quite well!) which will unlock future avenues for more collabs with lowave
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay BASICS DONE if you're still reading you're probably here for the real meat so let us get into it
How is the money working (director's cut)?
Let us start with the terms on the partner agreement:
Tumblr media
Content Creators get 30% of the 'remaining income'. This basically means any costs that streaming platforms are deducting, any processing fees, taxes etc will be deducted before the 30% share is calculated. The second point there basically means that the deductions here do not include business expenses of the label itself, ie when the label calculates its own profit production costs and various other expenses are deducted from the income, but these costs will not affect the revenue received by the content creators (You are probably already thinking 'how is this company earning enough to keep going?' and I will touch on that later as well)
Payment installments are simple enough but here we see a third party enter the chat: DistroKid. Who is DistroKid and why are payments going through them, Hazel? I hear you ask. Well I'll tell you dear readers:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is basically a service that takes a yearly fee for putting your music on streaming platforms efficiently and then pockets 0% of the royalties. The royalties go from the streaming services (eg Spotify) to DistroKid who then send it to the rights-holders (in this case, lowave records). lowave records is using this service for a yearly fee to upload all their music through.
But wait! If DistroKid is working with lowave, and lowave owns all the rights, why is DistroKid making direct payments to the content creators?
Well, over the years they have offered a bunch of services:
Tumblr media
I am guessing lowave is making use of the teams feature to send royalties owed to content creators ("collaborators") directly from Diskworld, which makes sense, the less people money goes through the less chances of mishandling.
People have of course been talking about what percentage Spotify even pays for many many years. The short answer: we don't know for sure because it is confidential, Spotify won't tell and artists aren't allowed to. The longer answer: people have estimated from a bunch of publically available data that the share seems to be 70-30 (rights-holders- spotify).
Tumblr media
However spotify is not paying per stream anymore so that makes these figures harder to pin down. they are using a 'streamshare' system which is much more convoluted:
Tumblr media
That was all about the money, now let's talk Licensing
Creators can use this music in any capacity, and do not have to share any of the revenue from their own content with lowave. They have put a stipulation that it may not be used in a way that is "illegal, immoral, discriminatory or derogatory to [lowave]" but what constitutes 'immoral' and 'discriminatory' is not really defined.
The other limitation applies to the contracted Content Creators only as far as I can tell: they are not allowed to remix, sample, or edit these songs without prior permission. This probably only applies to altering the songs and playing under the same name, so fan remixes should not run into issues here, as long as they are not monetised. (thanks kate @goldenpinof for making me think about this part a bit more, I think it should be safe, but even royalty free music cannot be transformed without permission at least in a commercial capacity)
Tumblr media
They will also make more music free of cost if the streaming targets they set are being met by the albums produced. The process:
Tumblr media
Other services they provide will be handling the creator's account which they set up (DanAndPhilBeats in this case) on streaming platforms and making changes as required, so the Cheeky Banter -> Project X thing was probably done from their end, possibly an older change that they forgot to update?
Also below are promotional obligations:
Tumblr media
The promotion wasn't a one-time thing, it is expected to be ongoing, so we will probably be hearing about this in future videos as well. However, later in the partner agreement it is added that this has to be done as often as possible in a way that is "natural and appealing to their audience" which again, is pretty vague wording
Tumblr media
Also the licensing goes both ways, so lowave can also use segments of the content DnP make that has the music in the background to promote their music:
Tumblr media
Additional stuff from the contract:
lowave takes the guarantee of creating original works that it has the rights to and which do not infringe on copyrights, and the creators likewise take the guarantee not use the songs in content which infringes copyright. If there are any disputes regarding such infringement in the future the record and the creators have to back each other up (including sharing legal fees)
Tumblr media
I mentioned before some parts of the agreement being written in vague language. There is also a clause that says if any provision ends up being illegal/not possible to enforce by a court (eg if a court were to it's impossible to say whether content featuring the songs was 'immoral') then only that provision will be removed, the rest of the contract stands.
The waiver part basically means that if any of the parties decide to not sue or forgo a complaint about breach of contract, that does not mean that those provisions are now unavailable, they can still sue later on or for some other breach if they wish.
Tumblr media
That's the contracts done. Some of the framing there makes it seem to me like it's a pretty small company. The revenue they hope to generate does not seem to be very sustainable, especially since the revenue is being shared with content creators but the cost is not and they are additionally paying for other services like DistroKid.
So I looked more into this record label: they started business in 2022. If you go to their socials though, twitter and instagram they have followers in double digits and post very sparsely. Their tiktok seems to have nothing on it at all (thanks @lesbiandanhowell for the screenshot) and you may have noticed, Dan did not tag the lowave account at all when he announced the album on twitter
Tumblr media
The agreement never mentions creators promoting lowave's social channels or tagging them either (and it is quite odd, I have worked with a bunch of organisations in their infancy and this is, now more than ever, a common requirement from collaborators). lowave records does not seem to be actively working towards promoting themselves on social media or building an online presence, even though they have been operational two years producing music throughout.
There are three people involved with the company on public record:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Benjamin Johnson listed as 'Head of Production' is probably the 'Ben' Dan has been talking about who made the songs. Seems like their scale of operations is not very big and possibly not a lot of producers in the records at all (despite the spotify page saying they have 'producers' plural, but that doesn't have to mean a lot many lol). Anyway, that would solve the mystery of 'how are they playing their employees?' if there aren't many employees to begin with (not even an intern to manage their social media it seems).
Look at the last person in the screenshots though: Robin. I looked at what other companies Robin is associated with and several of them - yeah several different operations that he's involved in - have the same correspondence address of '60 Thorpe Road...', so probably operating out of a ghost office (just to have a registered address and receive mail at etc). And one of these businesses that Robin is associated with is RWD, the business that made lowave records' website for them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The no-cost production of royalty-free music, little attention to social media presence, vaguely written contract, seemingly small scale of operations with technical assistance like website design coming from an affiliated organisation makes me think that lowave records might be a side project. A labour of love, possibly, hoping to sustain itself enough to keep putting out royalty-free music in a time of extreme crackdown on copyrighted music use.
It makes sense to use content creators for promotion, gets you way more streaming than making your own music and putting it out. And the incentive of unique but guaranteed royalty free music at no cost is great for content creators of all sizes. It is far from sustainable on its own though, especially with streaming revenue being basically peanuts, and I do not think there's much interest in gaining a following or putting in that effort either, so it's probably a very small business by a few people. How long it manages to sustain itself as a project I am not sure, but it certainly isn't looking like something particularly geared towards profit and growth in its current state.
Tumblr media
We are at an end! If you read this far, leave me like an A+ or a star for my essay so I can have academic validation from this please. Of course I probably have not covered everything possible in connection to this so if anyone has more info feel free to add on! And if this was all very long and there's something particular you wanted to know you can drop an ask into the inbox about it!
Thank you for coming with me on this journey! Back to the important things, which was your favourite song from the album? I think mine is Arcade Admission

Free Apps/Assets that help me as an Indie Game Developer [Megapost]
Hi! I’m an indie gamedev who’s also in University, needless to say that I’m on a budget when it comes to my game creation. I’m making this post to organize my favourite free resources that helped me out.
Also, please note that I’m only commenting on the programs themselves, not the companies/individuals that run them.
For Pixel Art, I use/recommend Dotpict. It’s completely free, you can resize canvases and input custom sizes. It has the essential tools for pixel art creation, and is great to use on small screens with the default point-and-click system. It can also be used on larger touch screens with in “Pen mode”. It also supports animation! Alternatives include Pixquare and Resprite, which function similar to Aseprite for computer. (Resprite does have limited exports in the free version.)
I was recommended Notion by a fellow gamedev friend for organizing ideas/stories. It’s essentially a files-within-files organizer where you can make groups, add pages to the groups, and link other pages. I now use it for my concepts, and am really enjoying it so far.
My go-to for fonts is DaFont. The website allows you to sort and filter in order to only show 100% free fonts to use in your projects. I’ve been using this site for years, and from my experience each download was completely safe.
I’m an RPGMaker user, and rpgmakerweb is a great resource for finding free plugins. Yanfly is also one of the most popular picks for plugins as well. Galv and SRDude are amazing creators with some of the best plugins I've personally ever used.
Launchpad is a beat-mixer app with a literal labyrinth of samples. You can get a free trial to have access to all of them, and I’d recommend it for people looking to explore different genres for in—game music. It’s super fun to just mess around in. You can record and export as well.
FireAlpaca is my personal recommendation for a free digital art software for computer. I’ve used it in the past, and it’s truly a great free alternative to expensive art programs. Krita is also a great free option!
Cymatics is a great resource for free-to-use royalty-free samples/loops. I have a huge sound library thanks to them, and I haven’t paid a cent. Joining their email list also gets you more free packs & the occasional free giftcard.
YoutubeDL is a free and open-source program on Github that allows the safe (speaking on personal experience) download of Youtube videos, as well as audio format. I use this to download royalty-free samples/SFX that are posted on Youtube for anyone to use. You can also download a .exe from their website with the YTDL program directly in it (my personal choice).
Online-Convert is a free online file converter. I've personally relied on it to convert my music into OGG format, and I haven't had any problems with it so far. There are many other converters for lots of different needs and formats as well.
BFXR is a free downloadable program that is great for making digital sound effects for your games. I was actually recommend this program by my prof in first year. You can use all FX in any use for free!
Ibis Paint X is a free drawing app for Apple devices/other mobile devices that support pen pressure. You can upgrade to the full version, but the free version has a lot of options.
Fortelling is great for planning out stories and worldbuilding. It’s optimized for writers to keep track of their projects. You can make timelines, add characters with customizable traits & avatars, create locations, specify items/languages/species, and a lot more. There is a premium subscription version, but I’m perfectly content with the features that come with the default.
Design Cuts is a website for lots of artistic resources, including Procreate brushes, graphic design assets, and more. They give out weekly freebies, as well as an extended commercial license included with every purchase. There’s frequent sales too, and you get so support independent artists.
Feel free to reblog/add your own favourite free resources to share with other devs/artists! I’ll update this post as needed.

Hastur’s mind buzzed excitedly. Though he had virtually no experience teaching his own language to a mind as relatively simple as a human’s, every inch forward in Arthur’s progress brought him a prickly delight. To say nothing of his particular choice… “Yes,” he answered with as much restraint as he could muster. “Though stressing verbs like that is more of a regional dialect. In Carcosa we would simply use the word for longing, myhrey.”
(if you're still accepting fic asks!)
(Yes, I love talking about worldbuilding and characters!!)
Not sure if you're more interested in Hastur or the language stuff here, so I guess I'll blah about both XD;
There are only a few phrases of canon "Cthuvian" in the mythos - three or four famous sentences by HPL himself, and a few add ons from other authors. As far as I can tell there isn't much in the way of fan-completed con-langs because there's not much to work with, the language is *supposed* to be unintelligible, and some of the authors who added to it were lazily just slapping funny spelled words on English sentence structure etc. But there are a few things that seem relatively consistent: pronouns that become a prefix when attached to a verb, like "ya / y'"; prepositions also become prefixes to the noun they're describing like l'ebumna and l'geg. There's only one example in the spattering of words that uses repetition (n'gha-gha) and I don't think we know what it's supposed to mean, but while randomly googling language concepts, I was thinking of how in English we use repetition to slightly change the meanings of things ("do you LIKE HIM like him?") and was amused by the idea of inserting something similar to Cthuvian. So this part of their lesson is not "canon" but nothing says it couldn't be either.
I have a little spreadsheet devoted to what I've sussed out of the Cthuvian that appeared in the actual stories, and I've been slowly adding some things just for fun, trying to work out the basics of how the language could be structured. But I'm not a linguist so I doubt it's impressive yet lol. I haven't really done much research other than some language classes in college while learning Japanese.
This fic (I Long to be Filled) I started writing before the story that now comes before it. I originally meant for it to take place someone fairly soon after the Squeezing, but ultimately decided I wanted them to have some "normal" sex before Hastur whipped his real dick out, which is why there are references to the Scholars and such things that came up before but haven't been paid off yet (oops). I've since developed a lot more backstory for how the King came to Carcosa in the first place, which may come to light later. But I especially think that part of what sets the King in Yellow apart from other mythos figures is his canonical connection to theater, music, and the arts. He fancies himself not just as a god but royalty among gods; he distinguishes himself by his ornaments (he's the king IN yellow, the play describes "the tatters of the king" rather than the king himself). Compared to his half brother, he's CULTURED. We get to see a little of that in Malevolent but way more in John (and Yellow) than with the King himself, which is interesting considering that John is in some ways a more pure version of the King, free from thousands of years of experience.
So this whole fic we get to see a version of John who is learning that his appreciation of these things has a long and illustrious history, and a version of the King who is finding new ways to delight in parts of his nature that have been commonplace to the point of complacency, relearning himself through Arthur's study. And that's very exciting for him :3
Thank you for the ask!

Project RBH Devlog 0005 – Final Week
Everything was going great until it wasn’t.
I had the game in a completely playable state on Thursday and then I fiddled with some settings and everything exploded. This happens sometimes in Game Development. Unfortunately, I hadn’t been quite as good at saving backups as I thought I had.
Always make backups. Always.
Losing progress this close to the deadline is really bad, but I should have the lost functionality back by the end of the day, leaving me with the rest of the week to make the art assets. This does means that some of the planned features of this build simply will not make it in, most notably the boss fight. Ah well.
As you can see, the Level Generation is working.
Tumblr media
Ignore that they’re all wandering to the right; that’s what they do when there’s no player for their AI to chase. Also I have to put them in the other rooms as well.
Gameplay-wise pretty much the only thing left to do is to add the level exit to the dungeon so that you can proceed further and further in. And if there’s time, to have the Game Over Screen tell you how far you made it when you died.
But this week is pretty much all dedicated to the art and sound effects. I don’t have the time or skill to make music and sound from scratch so I’ll be nabbing some Royalty Free sounds from somewhere or other, but all the art will be my own.
Back on the topic of what I got done last week, implementing the new code went so much smoother than I ever could have hoped, and I had that more or less working by Monday. By Tuesday I had it set up to replace the walls and obstacles with autotiles, so all the walls look seamless. I also did a quick experiment on perspective so I can recreate that Link to the Past look for dungeon walls.
After that was some room control. I whipped up a few quick spawners for enemies—one for the rank-and-file grunts who swarm you and one for Support Units like the missile turrets. That way I can completely randomize what enemies the player will encounter while at the same time having total control over enemy squad composition.
Fiddling with the upgrade drop system was a little more complicated. My first idea was the same as the enemy spawns, but with a high chance of just not spawning anything. The problem is that having a possible chest in every room means that one or two floors is all it takes to get some frankly absurd bullet patterns.
My replacement code is to randomize a number between 1 and 3, weighted towards 1, and spawn that many chests randomly throughout the floor. This is sadly some of the code that I lost but it’s not very complicated so recreating it shouldn’t be hard.
I’ve also got to put the Door Spawn code back in so you can actually proceed further. It’s actually pretty clever if I do say so myself. The code checks the room in the furthest corner from the player—hard coded by me; it can’t detect that—and finds an open spot within that room to make the door. The Door takes you to a connecting room with a free chest inside and another door that takes you back to the dungeon room, which automatically generates a whole new dungeon.
The best part is that all the variables are editable on the fly so I can freely customize pretty much everything. It’s great!
So by the end of the day I should have the absolute barebones of a roguelike, ready for some actual art assets.
One Week to go.
Until next Devlog!

The 'TASM is good, actually' revisionism is wild bc I get personal preference and maybe people over-hating it at the time, and Andrew is great and his Peter/Spider-Man is probably closest to the comics, but there are so many obvious problems in terms of writing, pacing, the film being cut up into whatever the final print was, etc.; most bizarrely, I keep seeing discussions and polls lately about how the Lizard in the film is the best adaptation of him ever in terms of both the writing and design, and it's like, really? The version that cut almost everything important about him from the source material? And why are we saying that design is great and iconic now and that all other Lizard designs are bad bc a snout is unrealistic?
people defending that design is actually insane lmao. I saw it with a friend who’s never seen TASM before, and every time he was on screen for longer than 1 second they would say out loud “it’s so bad”/“he’s so gross”, with virtually no anti TASM lizard design propaganda from me… it was just the natural reaction lmao
But yeah the “TASM is good actually” is rough. Like out of all the Spider-Man movies it probably ranks in the middle. I do genuinely think that if just a few things were changed you could make it into a better movie, but in its current state it’s rough. Also just to add to what you’ve already said about some of the movies issues; the score sucks, and I never really feel like I can usually say this about a movie because im not a music person, but like I think it’s bad??? There’s one bit that always sticks out to me especially (that im pretty sure they use multiple times, or there’s another song on the score that sounds similar) that sounds like shitty like royalty free quirky sitcom music, and it plays around the end of when Peter first goes to Oscorp. There’s also this odd thing where after Captain Stacy is introduced Aunt May almost completely disappears from the movie until he dies lmao. idk its just really weird to me like Peter can only have 1 ☝️ “good influence” adult in his life at a time haha (i know this is a part of the issue of how the movie is written/paced i just wanted to say it)

Carrot! I’m in existential identity crisis, and have no idea what i want to study in future, considering that i’m supposed to apply for university in a few month. I was thinking a lot about choosing programming study program, and i wanted to ask you, how did you get started coding novels? Can you tell me some advices about where to start, video lessons, how to understand code, some programs to use? Any of that would be really helpful! Thank you!!
Oh, gosh! I'm so sorry that you're going through such a tough and confusing time. I was similar when I was in school and ended up changing majors multiple times and even going back to get a second BA (and also even now the work I do has nothing to do with what I got my degrees in... lol). It feels so impossible trying to figuring out what you want to do in life (and it can change so often...) 💦
Mmmm. I didn't have much coding knowledge at all before I started working on OW. (I also don't think it requires much knowledge just to start doing simple stuff in it—and I still don't think I have much knowledge even now LOL). I remember it felt really overwhelming and confusing at first, so I kinda took it slow and did a lot of my initial attempts in steps?? And from there slowly started to get more familiar with it and learn more and more. Let me try to explain:
The first thing I did before coding anything was write the script. I had about half of Arc 1 finished before I even thought about making it into a game, so I just had it written in my writing software.
I decided to see how it would look in a very simple VN format using Ren'Py. To learn how to start using Ren'Py, I played through the tutorial game included in Ren'Py that teaches you a lot of the basic functions. I remember this was really overwhelming because it teaches you quite a lot of things quite quickly—and when you don't know anything at all, it's so much to take in. So I tried to start simply using ONLY THE VERY BASIC STUFF:
My initial prototype only included text, backgrounds, music, and sound effects. So I only focused on the code required for those things, so basically, the code for displaying an image (defining it using image then showing it using show), for showing text on the screen (I just defined a single "actor" with basic formatting and used that for all the text), and for playing music and sound effects (the play music and play sound commands).
By only focusing on these bits, I was able to simplify it enough that I could understand it. And so then I began copy-pasting my script in line by line while creating basic BGs using royalty free photos, finding royalty free sound effects, and adding the music (I already had a collection of royalty free music I'd found for the game).
As I worked on it, I got more familiar with it and began to understand how different bits of it worked, learning new things such as pauses, screen shakes, etc., that I could also add in. Whenever there was something I didn't know how to do (for instance, zooming/cropping an image, creating variables for keeping track of player choices, etc., I would just look up on Google and could usually find something in the LemmaSoft forums).
Once this initial prototype was made and I was loving how it looked, I decided to go all-in on the game and actually start creating art for it! This was when I started drawing the character sprites, CGs, etc. Because I already was familiar with the basic coding stuff, it wasn't hard for me to then apply what I knew to making the sprites and CGs appear on screen (since it's all just using the image and show commands, and maybe moving them around using stuff like ease).
Only once I had made a lot of progress on art and more writing and scripting did I even think about tackling things like the GUI, since that requires some more advanced coding stuff. I remember the video tutorial I used to start figuring out how to do the title screen for instance was this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zq3V28qp2w&ab_channel=ZeilLearnings
That took me pretty much to the release of Arc 1! Then as I kept working on subsequent arcs, I kept getting even more familiar with things, and would also try out new things I could do to create various scene effects.
Then when Spooktober came around for some reason I decided to try a ton of different things and really go wild. I definitely learned the most during that month LOL However, it was all built on skills I'd slooooooowly been building basically throughout the course of the whole year. Even doing research itself is a skill tbh. Like being able to figure out kind of in your head what you need to do something to locate what it is you don't know, then knowing how to research that thing and parse out the solution so it will work in your version of the code, etc. And I was only comfortable handling that for more advanced stuff because I'd done it so many times before just figuring out more simple stuff.
Tbh tho literally none of what I have in any of my games is very advanced, it's all just a ton of things moving on the screen in different ways and at different times
Hmmm I have no idea if that long rambly thing I just wrote is very helpful LOL Those were all the resources I used tho: the tutorial game in Ren'Py, that video I shared for the title screen, tons and tons of Google searches and the LemmaSoft forums.
But I really feel like the biggest thing that helped and made things manageable for me was breaking it down. Like, I don't know if I would have managed it if I'd tried to start right away with art and sprites and do everything all at once. I needed to start with that very simple prototype with only a few necessary commands so I could get familiar with it first, and only after that, start working on art and add it in. Breaking it down into small simple pieces really helped my brain so much! (And also was more motivating, as I could create the prototype quite quickly and already get really excited by how it looked even with just BGs and music, which inspired and motivated me to keep working. Whereas if I'd had to wait and take all the energy to draw all the art first, too, I might have gotten overwhelmed and demotivated.)
Those are all the things I PERSONALLY did to learn how to code my game. However, since I began, even more resources have become available that will probably help even more and be a lot more accessible. The biggest one I can think of is Vimi's YouTube channel, which has a ton of very basic tutorials for getting started in Ren'Py and just a ton of stuff about making and coding VNs in general. I feel like this could be super helpful for you!! https://www.youtube.com/@vimi
There are also other programs for creating visual novels, for instance, Naninovel allows you to create VNs in Unity, though since Unity uses C#, you will need to learn some of that I think?? Ren'Py uses Python, though for basic scripting it's not really actual Python and more just very basic Ren'Py script or something. You will need Python though to get into some of the more advanced stuff you can do with the GUI and menus and such though (or if you want to do anything much more advanced like add mini games).
I hope this helps you at least a bit! But if you have any questions about anything specific, don't hesitate to ask!!!

hi! i’m working on a game with two of my friends and i was wondering if you’ve got any tips/suggestions for what you use for music and backgrounds? any advice would be appreciated 😊😊😊
Hello! And sure, most of this is things I’ve had to learn on my own since for some reason I barely got any audio stuff in college.
I’m not sure if you mean what kind of background music to use for a game or where to find it so I’ll try to answer both.
Also funny you ask this because I just have a post queued for later about game design and stuff.
Long post ahead
For background music, I usually look for Royalty Free soundtracks over Youtube, a cool artist I recommend is WhiteBatAudio, there’s some incredible stuff but it’s mostly synthwave/90s/horror stuff.
My only precaution with finding music over youtube is make a google search after finding something to make sure it is not stolen.
Another good place to look for stuff is itch.io. Void1gaming has a lot of different free and paid music packs with very different styles, lofi, pop, scifi, etc.
For sound effects itch.io is a very good place to find them too, there is a mix of free and paid ones. But if you are looking for more specific sound effects I’d recommend freesound.org, which is a website full of sound effects. The only thing you have to pay attention to is the copyright of each sound, some got permission for paid projects, others only free, or you need to give credit. The other thing is that not all will have a good quality, so you’ll have to dig around a bit sometimes.
Now my general advices for background music is remember it’s there to help whatever is happening in your game, unless you have a music rhythm game, the music is not the protagonist. Tied to this is music can influence what you are showing, if you are showing an abandoned house you want the player o feel wary about, and the soundtrack is loud, happy, party music, it’s likely your player will be more confused than scared.
Also sometimes no music is just as good! It’s more clear in the update but taking JHN as example, the background is a kind of quiet street, and if you go to the garden you can hear the crickets, it is meant to be peaceful to accompany Jake actions. CHN on the other hand has loud party music, we got a group of young adults partying, eating pizza and drinking.
And with sound effects my recommendation is, and this will sound weird, look for sounds that work, not necessary the right sound. If you need sound of stepping on carpet, you might not find what you want because it’s much too quiet, but sounds of stepping on sand can work just the same. The classic example is breaking celery for the sound of breaking bones.
And I think lastly but not least, learn a sound editing software. I use Audacity which is free and for my basic abilities and knowledge, it gets the job done. I edit a lot of sounds to be for example shorter, fade them towards the end, or mix two together.
Again most of sound effects and background music I have learned mostly on my own and is far from my speciality, so if any other devs know more and want to add to this post, please feel free to do so!
Anyway I hope this helped and good luck to you and your friends with your game!

Rules + Request Info Masterpost
Since this site has gone largely mobile-oriented I figure we should post all our info in a pinned post now that we’re back!
RULES:
Please make sure to read all rules before making a request!
We do not do requests for factives, factkin, or factkin-adjacent kintypes (ex. Hamilton, “Dark” Youtubers, etc.).
This is only for fictives and alterhuman/otherkin identities, not RP muses/OCs/general fandom stuff! (Unless of course your muse or OC is also a kintype!)
We can’t do requests for you if you don’t give all the indicated details.
Our moodboards are made with royalty free images and official art from kin sources only; we don’t feel comfortable using fan art without explicit permission from the creator. You can forward your own art if you’d like it to be included in a moodboard though!
If you ask on anonymous for something we can’t/don’t feel comfortable doing (ex. if we aren’t familiar at all with the source, there isn’t enough detail to complete it, etc.), we most likely will just not add it to the queue. If you ever want to confirm a request status with us, feel free to send a message!
We are okay with exploring dark themes/trauma in requests, especially playlists.
REQUEST TYPES/INFO:
Mood Boards [Open]
A 5-9 image collage of photos, official art of your kintype, and/or quotes/lyrics catered to a certain mood or theme. When requesting a board, please tell us: -Kin source -Kintype name -The mood/emotion you want the theme to be (ex. relaxed, cheerful, sad)
These are optional but helpful! -A color, flower, or general color temperature (hot/cold) you’d like -Any particular types of symbol, iconography, photo, etc. you want included (ex. lightning, trees, the ocean, stones) -Anything in particular you absolutely DON’T want -Any text/lyrics you want included (we can come up with something we feel fits if you want lyrics but don’t have any specific ones in mind!)
Pride Icons [Open]
A set of one or two icons of a character with either a pride flag background or overlay. When requesting a board, please tell us: -Kin source and kintype name -If you want two separate icons (by default we will do just one) -What identity/identities you want represented with a flag -If you want an overlay or a background edit (overlay has the flag juxtaposed over the whole image, a background edit will have the character cut out and displayed over the flag).
Playlists [Open] A playlist of ~30-60 minutes of music. When requesting, please tell us: -Kin source -Kintype name -A mood/emotion/theme you want the playlist based on -What genre(s)/songs, if any in specific, you absolutely want included -Any genre(s)/songs, if any in specific, you absolutely DON’T want **These are made on Spotify by default, so if you would prefer a YouTube playlist please also let us know that!
Pokemon Teams [Open] A set of 6 Pokemon to fit your kintype. When requesting, please tell us: -Your source and kintype name -Any type preference you have and/or specific Pokemon you absolutely want -Any Pokemon or types you absolutely DON’T want, if any -If you would prefer Legendaries be included (by default we won’t) Digimon Partners [Closed] A set of 1-3 Digimon that fit your kintype. When requesting, please tell us: -Your source and kintype name -Any category and/or type preference (ex. virus, beast, bug, etc.) -How many you want (3 max) -If you have a preference for stage of evolution (fresh/baby I, in-training/baby II, rookie/child, etc.)
Pendulum Readings [Closed] A simple divination reading for yes/no questions. (Pendulum readings are by no means definitive, but rather a means of seeking guidance in finding answers.) When requesting, please indicate you want a pendulum reading and provide a question which can be answered with yes, no, or maybe. Tarot Readings [Open, single card readings only] A tarot divination for to help answer simple questions or provide guidance through evaluations. (Like pendulum readings, tarot readings are for guiding you to an answer, and should be considered as such rather than a definitive answer conclusion.)
These are currently being done by Mod S, using the Thoth deck. For a Single Card Tarot Reading, please indicate you want a tarot reading and give us a simple question. This should be something that is in the realm of a yes or no answer, or a “vibe check”. For a Mind, Body, and Spirit Assessment, please indicate you want this type of reading and if you would prefer a private answer (off anon only).
For an Advice Reading, please give us an overview of the problem or situation you are working through, and if you would prefer a private answer (off anon only).

Steddie RP Ideas
These are my RP ideas for Steddie. Please feel free to ask for more info. These are just general ideas. If you’re really interested in a concept, I’ll go into more detail. If you want to add onto a concept or tweak it a bit, feel free to let me know. I’m willing to double up on plots as well as doing side ships and side characters. I like to match style and length with my partners. I’m 20, so 18+ interactions only. My Discord is Olliegee21#1620.
Medieval Royalty AU
(This can just be normal, or incorporate Vampires and Werewolves)
Maybe a Knight and a Prince
Rival Kingdom/Romeo and Juliet AU
Arranged Marriage/Enemies to Lovers AU
Vampire & Werewolf AUs
Eddie becoming Kas theory/Evil Eddie
Werewolf!Eddie/Pre Season 4/No Upside Down or Vecna (Like, Steve is still in high school, so he’s still kind of a dick.)
1800s British Vampire Period Drama (ft Vampire Eddie… or Steve. Who knows?)
Lost Boys AU - Eddie as David, Steve as Michael, etc.
Buffy AU - I like the idea of Slayer!Steve x Vampire!Eddie
Teen Wolf (movie) AU - Steve Harrington as Scott… because basketball. Billy is Mick and Eddie is Stiles. Boof could be Robin, but she clearly doesn’t like Steve. Also, the drug sniffing scene is perfect for them.
Corroded Coffin AU - Kinda like the movie Queen of the Damned/the book The Vampire Lestat. In which Eddie and his band are vampires and they go around hypnotizing people with their music and killing.
Fright Night AU - Not a ship RP - Dustin is Charley, Steve is Peter, and Eddie is Jerry. Basically, it's just Dustin and Steve being monster hunters.
Vampire!Steve x Werewolf!Eddie - Monster AU/Enemies to Lovers? (Or vice versa)
The Medieval AUs mentioned before
Other AUs
Ghosts TV Series AU - Steve has had so many brushes with death, he can see ghosts, so he is able to see ghost Eddie (Post Season 4)
Beetlejuice AU - In which Steve is Lydia and Eddie is Beetlejuice

hey i love your games and the background music you make for them and here's my question - are you going to share your ost on Spotify? I know they are on YT, but I personally prefer the first platform.
Hey hey! I just saw this and also what I'm guessing is your comment on one of the YouTube videos since it's a similar topic and username :3 I figure I might as well reply in both places though just in case somebody else happens to have the same question and might see the answer. The TLDR answer is, I would love to have my stuff on Spotify, but I can't really afford to >.< The longer answer is below :3 Basically, I'd love to have my soundtracks on Spotify, but the barrier is kinda similar to the problem that I have with Steam >.< Both require payment from me to put my stuff on there and since my stuff is free, I'd essentially just be giving away money to them with no way of getting it back. Unfortunately, I don't have much money, so I can't afford to do it. :( I've heard that there are various ways of possibly getting music onto Spotify for free or for a smaller fee via various distribution companies, with the agreement that any royalties go to them and other such terms and conditions, and that might be an option for the future, but for now, it's all too complicated :( I do also have a few of my OSTs available for download though :3 Patreons and supporters on Ko-Fi get access to a page where you can download them (automatic with Patreon I think - and for Ko-Fi you just have to grab a key after a one-off donation), or anyone who donates $5 or more on the game's itch page should also get access to the download for Bitter/Sweet's OST specifically.
Right now, I only have some of the DD tracks, Limbo Line's OST, and Bitter/Sweet's OST on the supporter page, but I plan to also add A9, Dawn of the Damned, and The Graveyard Shift's OSTs there too when I get a chance :3 Thanks so much for playing my games! And I'm really glad you enjoy the music <3

Fun Fact: Doogood was born in Mayberry Town, a town notorious for being stuck in the 50's and for its aggressively conservative beliefs. He was banned at 14-years old for using science to better the lives of his fellow citizens. His likeness is still used for their propaganda to this day.
Fun Fact #2: Doogood was born with a curse. He is doomed to eternal life and a painful reanimation process every time he dies. You can thank one of his ancestors for that.

…[offers you disco bear] him…gib me ur disco bear
Excellent choice!
Disco Bear isn't his birth name. That honor (or dishonor, if you're Disco) goes to Barry Honeysuckle. He legally changed it to his stage name at the height of his fame.
Why? Because his home life sucked. His parents never approved of anything he did, let alone disco music. They saw it as a stupid fad that would fizzle out and leave Disco without a job. Plus, they never believed he would be a successful musician. But did that stop Disco? Nope! He pursued his dreams and became a one-hit wonder.
The one hit he managed to get was massively successful. It hit #1 on several charts all over the world, including his home country. To this day, he still earns royalties every time his song is played on the radio. Thanks to this, he quickly earned himself a spot amongst the hot disco singers. This man used his newfound fame and fortune to party like the animal he was.
Beautiful women would have one night stands with him, he'd get higher than a kite on cocaine and booze, and he'd pull all sorts of crazy stunts in the midst of his drugged up stupor. But just like every other celebrity, his days in the spotlight were numbered. Disco music fizzled out of popularity and was replaced by the next hot genre. On top of this, Disco developed a nasty addiction towards cocaine. In fact, he needed to go to rehab after he nearly overdosed on it.
Sure, rehab fixed his dependence on cocaine, but there was now a void in his heart where cocaine used to be. He took his loss of relevance poorly. Prior to his worsening addiction, he had a woman who actually loved him for more than his fortune and fame. His feelings towards her were mutual. Sadly, his obsession with drugs left her no choice but to burn this bridge permanently. After she walked away from Disco, he never saw her again. By the time he conquered his addiction, he knew he fucked up majorly. Knowing he'd never have her love or affection again killed him inside.
That's when he moved to Happy Tree Town. Almost dying to cocaine was a rude awakening for him in more ways than one. As an effort to hold onto as much of his net worth as possible, he sold everything he didn't need anymore and moved to Happy Tree Town. But living in a small town hardly improved his life. He ended up spending over a decade going through the motions. He'd hit on women, get rejected, and drink his sorrows away. Because of where he resided, he also had to deal with the curse placed on Happy Tree Town. However, just like everything else, that merely became a part of his routine.
Suddenly, Pop decided to befriend Disco out of nowhere. I'm sure you guys know the rest, but in a nutshell, they bonded over being middle-aged losers hanging on by a thread. In a twist of fate, they even fell in love.
Nowadays, Disco is much happier with his husband and spiritual son. As a result of growing more confidence in himself and his identity, he became a drag queen on the side, much to Fuzzy's embarrassment.

If Sprigatito evolves into a femboy furry, I will sit back and watch as the fandom spontaneously combusts, laughing at its suffering for years to come. Then I will ship him with Incineroar and make these boys hella gay.
