Arya Stark arrived through the North gate of Winterfell instead of the South, she thought about going into Hunter’s gate, but Ghost kept guiding her away. She wanted the avoid the south entering because come with Ghost would draw attention, not only with Winter Town’s people but also the Wildlings
Wildlings.
She had heard about Jon’s agreement with them, but to see in person was… Arya wonder what father would have thought.
In the end, she arrived by the North gate and not a soul would wonder if she came from the South. After all this time, she had become a person who naturally prefer secrecy and it took one rumor to get someone kill.
The North gate were quite very busy too, although with less flow of people than the south. Jon was bring Winterfell back to life. With Ghost behind her making a very believable vision, not a soul dare to doubt Arya when she announced who she was. The guards ran to calling Lady Stark instead of King Jon, which she found amusing, and she had every intention to wait there, but Arya was struck by the sense that she was finally home for the first time in years.
There was someone she needed it to see.
So with a quiet Ghost behind her, she escape to the Crypts.
Father, she looked at his statue. I’m home.
She bowed her head in respect.
Arya stayed like that for a moment a half pray in her lips, and then her heart break all over. By his right side there were others statues: Rob… Mother…
The she wolf blinked reminding of a old memory, the whimpering of a direwolf as their shot him down. Arya gave a hesitate step to them, I made them pay for their sins Rob, Mother, I hope you find peace in this
Ans then hurry steps echoes through the dark halls, she quickly turned to father recomposing herself. Confident and heavy steps, someone tall? Certainly someone determined or perhaps desperate to find her, she did disappear. The person stopped abruptly behind her, must have seem Arya there. The she wolf observe the shadow at wall behind her father and realize it wasn’t a soldier. Sansa.
Arya turned immediately. Her silhouette was complete different, her sister was taller, and use black and gray, and world away from colorful dress she used as a kid, her expression of absolute astonishment was familiar, just like her ice blue eyes and deep red hair. Mother. She was the image of mother.
– Do I have to call you Lady Stark? – Arya asked to her older sister not knowing what else to say. Sansa’s eyes soft in away she never saw before.
– Even if a said yes, you wouldn’t.
She just looked at her sister. They stay like that for a moment, before Sansa suddenly reach out and hugged Arya. She laugh as her sister squeeze her hard, like she was a precious thing, like her life depend on it. The she-wolf caught herself hugging her back with the same intensity.
– Look at you! – Sansa exclaimed half smiling half crying. – Your hair, your clothes, your sword! – She laughed and cry happily. – Like your dream, Arya!
– It looked we both got what we want at the end. – Arya said with a smirk, she was definitively less emotional than her sister. – It suits you, Lady Stark. I take king Jon left you in charge?
– He did! Yes, he’s King of the North now. – She sigh exhausted. – I do hope he comes back sooner now. When he sees you both, his heart will probably stop!
– Both?
– Bran is also here. – Sansa’s smile quailed.
– Bran is alive? – Arya also smile, but she did notice Sansa strange reaction. Was because Bran was going to take her title? Was her sister still that shallow? – How about Rickon?
Sansa stopped smiling completely now, her sister turned to the statue of their father and then she quietly point at the end of the dark tunnel. Arya felt her heart drop by the news, they both walked to the end of the hall to find the statue of a boy and his direwolf.
– Jon tried to safe him, but Ramsay wanted him dead. – She spoke in a quiet tone, Arya felt her sister’s hand on her shoulder. – He’s buried beside mother with his wolf.
Arya could only nodded looking both statues, all they lost was there now. She didn’t cry for them, she was use to the death now, but had hope that Hot Pie was wrong. She barely remembered her baby brother, Rickon was a wild thing, he and his beautiful black direwolf.
– I hope Jon took care of Ramsay.
– I did. – Sansa respond firmly, her ice tone made Arya curious.
– They say you killed Joffrey. Did you?
– I wish I had. – Arya smiled at her sister’s tone. Good.
– Me too. I was angry when I heard someone else had done it. However long my list got he was always first.
– Your list?
– Of people I'm going to kill.
Sansa stared at her blankly and then start to laughing.
Arya only smile at her. It wasn’t a joke, sister.
That was going to be a very long conversation.
– Where’s Bran? If I’m going to tell my story, it’s better to tell for both of you.
-Of course, he’s at Godswood now. – She guided her away from their family. Arya gave one last look to her father and then followed her sister.
-Winterfell have change. – She pointed out as their enter the courtyard, from afar she saw the Broken Tower, they almost finish the rebuilding, children ran around the area.

Bran explain for her, Sansa arched her eyebrows now, her whole posture change now, a very… Political posture? She did survive the royal court, might have pick up a few things along the way.
- Who else is on your list? – In a very emotionless tone. Arya narrow her eyes trying to get a read on her, but since this was new, she didn’t know what it meant yet.

Suddenly Ghost let out a low growl, the three Starks felt in silence immediacy waiting, until the Maester from before appear at distance. They waited the man get closer and bowed his had in respect.

-You presence is request at the meeting with the food’s distribution, Lady Val has gone to hunt…
-It’s quite alright, I understand. You’ll have to excuse me for a while, if I don’t go the northman might started a fight with wildlings… Again.
Bran and Arya both nodded and watched as their older sister went away with Maester Wolkan. Ghost stood up from his place under the heart three and hesitated between follow her and stay there with them.
-Go, Ghost, Littlefinger will be there. – Bran ordered calmly.
-You don’t like the man. – Arya observed as the direwolf trotted to their sister.

Approximately 1 year and 1 month after I returned to reading destiel fics I have finally finished my way through the dean/cas tag on Ao3. Does this mean I have read 100k+ fics? Well no not exactly, with my filters on the tally is about 76k, plus even then I didn’t read every single fic because either something was in the tags that I didn’t want or that AU really wasn’t my wheelhouse, or maybe after reading 10 fics in a row about getting Cas back from the empty I just couldn’t do another one etc. So this is my list of favourite fics, some of them have been my faves since I was reading stuff 8 years ago and some of them are new. I’ve also added a little bit about why I love them.
Hands, From Which All Things Are Built – MajorEnglishEsquire Ao3
Set S8. With Cas on the run with the angel tablet, he one day reaches out to Dean via text message, over the next few weeks they exchange messages as they criss-cross the country separately, figuring out along the way how much they need each other.

Goodbye Stranger was the first spn episode I ever watched so fics involving the events post and prior that episode have a special place in my heart. And this is just lovely.
Not Part of the Plan ‘verse – Annie D Ao3
AU. Castiel is in The Republic for an arranged marriage to help relations between 2 countries. On his last night of freedom before meeting his betrothed he goes out to lose his virginity in an act of rebellion. He meets Dean who offers to take care of him. Imagine the surprise the next day when meeting Sam Winchester his intended, that Cas already knows his brother! When Sam runs away, his parents offer Dean instead for the marriage. Once they are married, cue misunderstandings while getting to know each other all the while both of them insisting that its best to keep things impersonal. Despite that they fall in love, such a shame that both their countries are using their marriage for political intrigue to try and start a war…

I had read other fics by this author and loved them, but I only intended on reading the first story about the one night stand, but got sucked in, and now this is pretty much my favourite spn fic. It is so well written and the world building is fantastic, A lot of things go wrong between our couple in this story but at no point did I ever feel hopeless about it, even just thinking about this fic just makes me happy.
Balance And New Beginnings - Hekate1308 Ao3
Set S12. When he finds out that Sam as well as Mary are working for BMoL, Dean says goodbye and walks away, going to hunt with Cas. Together with Crowley they start to develop a new way of hunting, which is only targeting the supernatural creatures who are causing harm and protecting the benign ones from the BMoL’s genocidal plans.

This is such a satisfying story. I have a special fondness for stories where Dean chooses to live his own life separate to Sam (this is not me being a Sam-hater it just feels healthy for Dean to let Sam be his own person) and the development through this is just wonderful and it’s a shame that cooperation between supernatural creatures and hunters wasn’t explored more in the actual show. The fact that it is brought up repeatedly that Dean looks happy and healthy because he is content in his new mission is just icing on the cake.

Set S8. Dean prays to Castiel during each of the episodes leading up to Goodbye Stranger. Each of the prayers is overheard by the significant OC of the episode although Dean doesn’t know he’s been overheard. Also has a follow-up fic post Goodbye Stranger Glad to be with you.

Again another fic (or pair of fics) surrounding Goodbye Stranger. This is one of my favourite Destiel fics of all time. In season 8 Dean praying was regarded as a pretty big deal from the “I prayed to you every night” to the prayer we saw from the Bunker and this fic plays into that.
Our Bodies Possessed by Light - Obstinatrix Ao3
Set S7. After ingesting (and setting free) all the purgatory souls, Jimmy’s vessel is no longer strong enough to contain Cas. Sam agrees to be a temporary fix for the angel. This of course raises some complications with developing feelings between Dean & Cas. (The sex doesn’t happen while Sam is the vessel)

This is pretty much the ultimate Dean-loves-Cas-not-his-vessel fic. Sure they pick a really hard to time to have the “we want to be together” talk while Cas is bunking in Sam’s body, but as a fic that could easily verge into wincest areas it does really well to keep the squick to a minimum. Its also lovely that by the end Cas and Sam’s friendship is so solid.
Dating a Rock Star Series – Grimmlin Ao3
AU. Swiping through a dating app, religion professor Cas is surprised to see a profile for rock star Dean Winchester. Despite not being a fan he marks it and is surprised a few days later when Dean messages him and they start dating. At the time of posting, there is still more of this series coming.

I love Dean characterisations where he is openly affectionate, and this Dean is flat out adorable with how much he is into Cas right from the start. I was also delighted on my second read through when I paid attention to the song that Dean writes for Cas and realised it was Radio Company’s All Our Own which has now become a Destiel song to me.

Ok once again, I guess spoiler alert? on all these fics that its a Djinn dream or something like it, seeing as at first glance a couple are not obviously under this category. But If you’re looking under this header I guess you were expecting it.

Nonspecific timeframe. Waking up in hospital after being taken by a Djinn, everyone is surprised that Dean can’t remember his dream life. It takes a couple of days for Cas to realise that its actually that Dean still doesn’t realise the dream was a dream.

Feel Good Fics - Part 2
At the end of my first full week of work in a month I think its time for a little relaxation in Fics that are just nice. so once again these are fics that I read as a pick-me-up or as a palate cleanser after a sad or disappointing fic.

AU. History professor Castiel loves watching YouTube archaeologist “Hunter” Winchester and is surprised and flustered when he is the new professor in his department. Dean on the other hand accepted the offer of a position because it means he’s going to be able to meet C. Novak, the historian he’s had an intellectual crush on for years.

Nonspecific timeframe. Technically this is a WIP but it’s a series of one-shots that build on each other so it doesn’t matter.
