Norman does sit ups with Skip on his knees and boops his face when he comes up :) #at some point Norman just stops counting how many of each exercise he’s done cus he’s just having fun with Skip. ‘hehe slug bf go boop :)’

So Starstruck Odyssey grabbed me by the throat and rocketed it’s way to second place campaign for me (TUC still has first in my heart ❤️) but uhm. Can you tell who my favorite character is. It’s definitely not Skip I promise why would you think that-

I gave him eyes just cus I wanted to give him a lil more expression but he still- #-can’t physically see. they’re more useful for his psychic/life sensing but he has no physical sense of sight through them #he’ll come out of the body sometimes cus he knows Norman and the crew will keep him safe. and after spending so long in the cold he- #-enjoyed the warmth and safety the folks on the wurst provided him. #I feel so many things about Skip good fucking god HE’S A SLUG AND I LVOE HIM #skipperskip

Wurstelprater in October New Public Collectors publication! Available for $9.00 here. Public Collectors publication #81 takes a trip to an amusement park in Vienna just days before many of the attractions closed for the season. From the back cover:

When the Vienna Art Book Fair’s Director Marlene Obermayer invited the publishing imprint I co-run, Half Letter Press, to participate in the 2023 edition of the event, she generously booked a hotel room for me. Last time the fair was held in 2019, the hotel was a short stroll to the fair. This time it was about a 25 minute walk. She explained, “Its not the same like last time but also a really nice one (next to the famous PRATER).” I wondered why I had never heard of the Prater and meant to look it up before my trip. In the frenzy of packing books, I never got around to that. Instead I found out when I arrived. 

Founded in 1766, the Prater includes a massive amusement park (Wurstelprater) filled with dozens of garish rides, an enormous Ferris wheel, tests of strength and skill, bizarre sculptures and gnarly ride facades covering every surface, and a variety of restaurants and other delights. You don’t have to pay to get in—there’s just a fee for whatever rides and games you want to enjoy. You can walk through the park any time, including before it opens, which I did on the way to and from the fair every morning and evening. At night it’s a whole other reality with dazzling lights, pounding music, and rides whipping bodies in every direction, testing any visitor’s ability to hold in their wurst. As one YouTube video-maker commented, the Prater “feels like a carnival on steroids.”

These photos were taken in the third week of October, just days before most of the rides would shut down for the season. The Wurstelprater is a fully immersive experience that could never be fully documented in all of its countless details. Anyone thinking this booklet might ruin the surprise of visiting for the first time should know that I have barely scratched the surface.

after literal months of on-and-off work, I’m proud to say that the first-draft riva doll is finally done !!!! i’ve never actually made anything nearly this big or complex before. while the proportions are a *little* off (unfortunately, even though i referenced both d20 official art and Starstruck itself, i haven’t been able to get a ton of great full-body references) i still love this thing so much- riva is one of my favorite d20 characters and it was really fun trying to pick through my various textile supplies trying to figure out which ones would work to use (almost none of the supplies i used were actually meant to be used the way i used them, so there were definitely a lot of hiccups). i might go back and make some edits later to fix proportions, change pose, or add more fins to the legs, etc, and i would like to take some more aesthetically pleasing photos of the doll where you can actually see the fins i put on all the limbs and stuff, but to be honest i have put so much labor into this project (literally having shed blood, sweat, and tears) that i think im happy with how it turned out for now. i’m already drafting up an aurora nebbins design, and although that will definitely come with its own unique challenges (SO many teeth), i hope to make the entire crew of the Wurst someday (although i suspect this day will not be for a long, long time).
