He would think you're smart, because the only people he know with glasses are Toriel and Alphys and..they're smart.

He would ask you shit like, "WHAT'S THE POWERHOUSE OF THE CELL?" or ask your help with puzzles.

No but really he would think you're so incredibly smart, imagine his face when you do something stupid.

His hopes for your wisdom shattered.

He would also think you're smart, but not like Papyrus, he would think you maybe read a lot or something?? [No blue it's because of the damn phone.]

But still, he won't ask any life changing questions, just the usual like "HOW DO YOU TURN THE STOVE OFF?" or "HOW DO YOU STOP A FIRE?" or "HOW DO YOU CALL THE FIREFIGHTERS?"

He would also always clean your glasses......and end up staining them with his dirty gloves.....it's the tought that counts.

And he would also remind you were they are, because he loves you but he won't love you more with a bruise in your head, don't worry.

It's a part of you so he loves it but like, it's just glasses.

He would clean them if they were very dirty, and scold you for walking around with them like that. [S/O you can't see already, and with this much dirt in your glasses you can't even see at all!]

As a Killer simp, I feel compelled to ask about your thoughts on Killer's smoochability

Killer's smooch-ability rating is a 3 out of 12, and if you're at all interested in my reasoning, feel free to read below the cut :P

1) How dangerous is Killer's mouth? His teeth aren't sharp or jagged, they're flat, so violent personalities and habits aside, I feel like his mouth is relatively safe. Y'know, assuming he's in a decent mood at the time of the smooching. 1 point for this, because his mouth is safe, but he himself is not

2) Would he bite, and how aggressive is he? Killer does just what his name states: he kills them. That being said, he also hallucinates from time to time, so we know he's not in his right mind. I feel like if he felt compelled to, he would absolutely bite. Because of his murderous nature, we can also count on him being pretty aggressive, so sadly, no points here

3) Would there be any health hazards to the smoocher? Aside from his physical strength as a monster, his magical abilities, and the knife he seems to regularly carry around, I'd also be concerned about his liquid hate tears situation. Because his "tears" are made of liquid hate, I have no idea what that could do to a person's health, so I'm deeming it a potential health hazard. Again, he gets no points for this area

4) Does he have a sympathetic backstory? From what I understand of Killertale, he agreed to work with Chara willingly and ended up killing everyone in his own au, including his own Papyrus. One could argue that he had valid reasons for that choice or that he probably saw no other way to handle the resets and everything that was going on, but at the end of the day, they we just that: a conscious choice that he made. Instead of continuing to resist or seek help from others, he killed everyone around him. So... I love Killer, but he's not getting any sympathy points, sad to say

5) Does he deserve a smooch? Frankly.... no, I don't think he does. Yes, he can be helpful (mostly to Nightmare whenever Nightmare manages to persuade him or puts him in a position where he can't say no), and he can be funny at times, but I don't think those things would earn him a smooch

6) Is he cute or cool? I'd say he's a pretty cool guy and he's got a neat design, so I definitely see the appeal of him. I'd give him 2 points here, I'd say

In total, he gets a 3. He's charming and he's a flirt, but smooching him would be like the equivalent of trying out reddit 50/50 irl. There's a 50% chance it'll be the best kiss of your life, or a 50% chance that you'll get maimed the instant he processes what just happened (or you might be affected by the liquid hate somehow). He'd be momentarily stunned, but I feel like he's not exactly a safe option, as he's violent and may stab you if he sees an opening or thinks killing you would be beneficial. Again, I love him, I'm just trying to rate him as fairly as possible without any bias or anything

*It seems you managed to stumble across a unique trio...

Decided to do a silly lil doodle of my favorite Dopple-trio! :D on the surface I feel like this'd be a daily occurrence. Kale is the most normal of the 3 of them, but I wanted to draw her and Paps having a cute lil conversation. (More ideas below the cut!!!)

Pretender regularly interacts with humans (his disguise slowly recovers, and he continues to mostly abstain from his old habits) and usually appears as "human" as long as he's out. Sometimes in public I feel like ppl would be willing to talk to him, and he's always quick to make it clear that to get to his family people would have to get past him. (Also I think in their neighborhood/town everyone gets increasingly confused because he regularly goes, "Yeah, that's my Kid" some days abd other days he's like, "That's my little sibling" and it's just that he's her guardian and the terms are kinda interchangeable because it's easier to use them than explain the whole situation lol)

Pretender also has no sense of fashion. He's always so close to a neat outfit then takes the wrong turn before he exits his closet lol.

Paps stays in skeleton form (at least for the first few years) even tho it's dangerous, because his human disguise is awful and makes K uncomfortable. Instead he trains genuinely with Undyne and Tender to properly figure out a human shape over about 4 years. Eventually he does have a human disguise, but he's contented in his monster form too.

K I can't say a lot for (beloved @oodlesndoodles is who designed/owns her!) But I'm pretty certain that she'd probably still wear her one monster-style outfit sometimes if only to show her solidarity with her family, or just to mess with people on the streets 🙏

Last Notes: Human!Pretender is one of my favorite blorbos ever to doodle! His hair texture is probably the most satisfying thing ever! Paps keeps miraculously looking good for this AU??? I've never been able to draw Papyrus before??? Idk what changed, but I love him! And KALE! K my beloved I have struggled so hard to doodle her well and usually fail but I think I did it!!! I love her sm...

So like, I do enjoy scenarios or even just ungrounded-in-any-scenario art of Marceline & PB knowjng each other as kids, but as the resident Being Pretentious About Adventure Time guy it always bugs me when people act like it was actually possible for them to have met as kids. Marcy is older than Bonnie by about 200 years! She was already an eternal-young-adult-vampire by the time Bonnie was even “born”! They were never kids at the same time! I still like the hypothetical idea though. It plays off what I like best about them: the fact that they had similar childhoods. They both had to raise themselves in the wasteland and figure out how to even be a person all on their own because despite coming so close, neither of them were ever able to have Stable Adult Figures Taking Care Of Them through their whole childhoods.

Also speaking of childhoods I’ve been thinking about the existential sadness of Finn’s childhood recently. I mean, hes mostly chill with it, but like. As far as we see he didn’t really know anyone his own age until Phoebe, so that’s 14 years without any peers. Jake & Jermaine are chronologically pretty much the same age as him, but they age a lot faster. I wonder if there’s any connection between that and Finn sometimes being anxious about getting “looked down on because he’s younger”. Because for so much of his childhood his social circle has kinda been… grown adults that he’s trying to keep up with. He and his brothers were babies at the same time but then they were fully grown while he was still like, a toddler. Bonnie’s an adult… Marcy’s an adult… We never see Finn having like, friends from when he was younger, just Jake, and BMO I guess but he sees BMO like a son. So for his whole childhood Finn has been “the kid” compared to Everyone Else he knows. Except BMO who is sort of like an eternal 6 year old but that’s not really relevant. I like Finn he’s neat. I have to eat now goodbye *floats into the sky*

Closing Notes: I think there should be more depth to him beyond being mean or how people made him abusive towards Red. Red calls him Boss and it's something Pitch canonically doesn't care for. He's fun to write about and think on, and I crave more moments of quiet, intimate stuff in fanfics than we get. I love him so much

How would the UT,US,UF and SF bros react to their S/O starting to overlap what they are saying because they've been with them so long that they just on simular wave lengths, This is not on purpose but it just happens when talking to others, hang out or dates that they just start overlapping when talking and S/O cracks up everytime. (I do this a lot with my friends and its both funny and creepy at the same time XD)

More specifically,

Classic (Undertale Sans) would just kind of chuckle and be amused by it. Neat little trick and he's kind of flattered by the closeness. And hey, you can finish his thought for him. He doesn't want to.

Prime (Undertale Papyrus) would be overjoyed! You're both so in love that you can finish each other's sentences! What an amazing bond you both have!

Blue (Underswap Sans) is mostly just pretty amused most of the time, finds it kind of cute. But don't do it too much, because he will feel a bit talked over if it happens frequently.

Stretch (Underswap Papyrus) thinks "Hey, sweet." He feels kind of flattered and gets a warm feeling from it. You're both so in tune with each other and he thinks it shows how close you are. Plus he loves seeing the looks people get when they hear it, it's hilarious.

Red (Underfell Sans) mostly just huffs in slight amusement, and never mind the blushing. He thinks it's kind of weird, but he also didn't think he'd ever find someone that could read him so well. Thinks he might have to try a bit harder to be more unpredictable.

Edge (Underfell Papyrus) is blushing, but don't read too much into it! Also, please don't do it too much because he doesn't really like being talked over. It's not what you're doing really, but it kind of feels like it sometimes. Especially don't in front of certain people.

Black (Swapfell Sans) is a bit weirded out, but he's also very warm and fuzzy about it! But he also thinks he needs to work harder at being unpredictable if you're able to read him so well. But also, aw! You're both so in sync!

Mutt (Swapfell Papyrus) just finds it completely adorable. Like it's so cute that you're so close that you can just finish his sentences. It's cute! A little weird, but ultimately adorable! His S/O is so cute. But don't do it in front of certain people, they'll never let it go.

Since the truce NMs gang has been hanging around Dreams mansion because Nightmare and Dream have a lot od catching up to do and the gang likes to be around Nightmare to know hes safe so the council still has meetings but with the gang around

Ink leads most of the meetings and since the gang has started sitting around the table they have input, mostly Killer making fun of him but sometimes its actually helpful

Sometimes the different papyrus' come to the meetings and Dust sits back and watches them interact with everyone/eachother and he sometimes smiles and when someone points it out he denies it, Classic has noticed when Original papyrus is around Dust is super calm and has even fallen asleep at the table before so when Original pap gave him a hug for his birthday, Dust almost started crying right there

Fell has major respect for Horror just because he was starved as a kid(underfell gaster was horrible in my opinion) and he didn't think he could handle it and couldn't even imagine dealing with it everyday

Dust almost killed Classic frisk when they grabbed onto Dusts scarf because they were curious, thanks to Cross, Error and Nightmare, Dust was didn't kill them but damn was he close to it... Dust didn't come to anymore meetings if Classic frisk was there

Sci runs tests on the gang and when he mentioned therapy they literally almost fell over laughing at the suggestion..Sci was super confused and worried

Horror often cooks for everyone and Ccino makes coffe/tea for everyone so they work pretty well together but when Horror tries to care for Ccino to much Ccino freaks out a little bit

Cross makes sand castles in Piratetale and a few of the other council members join him and nobody knows about it besides thoes few

Since Nightmare is a neat freak and Dream doesn't really care Nightmare almost screamed when he saw how messy Dreams room was and went on a 4 hour cleaning streak of the whole mansion and when he was done the whole mansion and was forced to take a break by Killer

Killer was made Nightmares right-hand-man because 1. Dust didn't wanna be and 2. He was able to beat him in a fight with no magic and Nightmare was extremely impressed, and Killer has literally taken bullets for Nightmare even tho Nightmare scolded him for doing it and he ends up defending Nightmare in meetings if anyone says anything rude

Mafia and Dust got into an argument and Mafia pointed his gun at Dust to intimidate him, But to his surprise Dust put his head on the gun and told Mafia, to pull the trigger while starting at him and Mafia was so stunned that he just put it away and didn't say another word...Dust had a smug grin ons his face for the rest of the day.

Killer and Ink are actually pretty good friends and are so mean to each other at the same time "hey souless whatcha doing" "nothing much, just thinking about how horrible you are" "aww if had a crush on me you could've just said something" "shut up, murderer."

Edge was pushing Fell around and Nightmare told him to knock it off, Edge responded with "like you know anything about being a good brother!" Before he could even think about what he had said, he was pinned down by the gang with sharpened bones inches from his face and a axe to his throat. Fell was to stunned to move and Nightmare was quiet before he told his gang to settle down, they did but not after telling edge to think before he speaks. The fell brothers left after that but Fell came to apologize but Nightmare just told him it was fine and words like that don't mean anything to him.

When Passive Nightmare showed up for the first time Reaper laughed for a splid 5 minutes about the "grumpy cat face" Nightmare had on

Passive Nightmare and Dream fell asleep leaning on eachother while Nightmare was reading and everyone took a photo and when they both woke up neither of them said anything about it but were both extremely relieved that their family was back together

Error doesn't usually join the meetings since he hates large crowds of people but when he does join he sits next to Blue or Nightmare without fail. One time Blue was walking around and he tripped, so Error grabbed him with his strings... right as Stretch walked out of a portal and when he saw Blue in his strings he threw Error against a wall with magic and sent a few dozen blasters his way knocking him out before he was held down by Nightmare who looked FURIOUS. After Stretch had what happened explained to him he felt a little bad for knocking him out and after Error woke up he carried on like nothing happened "tHaat waS a NnicE nApp" "are you hurt??" "MeNtallY orr phYysiicallYy?" "Yeah hes fine" "sorry.." "nAh yoU're gOod" "you're not mad?" "Ooh I'Mm pisSeD buUt I'm tTo laZzzy tO dOo annYythiing abouUt iit" "oh-"

Blue talks to the gang like they're family and at first people thought of Blue as a traitor but when they saw the gang fight to protect Blue when people wouldn't listen to him they quickly learned that Blue had them no matter what and he was also extremely smart in battle tactics and glad they finally started listening to him

Dream swore he never gets mad so Killer made it his goal to have Dream snap at him, Cross warned him not to do it but Killer never listens, so it started out by Killer ""accidentally'" spilling stuff on Dream which only gave a positive response, then tripping him, once again Dream didn't react then right as he was about to give up he noticed Dream was having a bad day so he was clicking his pen extra loud and tapping it on the table thats when Dream absolutely lost his shit. Dream took a deep breath and when Killer clicked the pen again Dream teleported over and grabbed him by the collar and started screaming at him "GOD DAMNIT WILL YOU STOP THAT. I'VE PUT UP WITH YOUR SHIT FOR WEEKS NOW IS THIS THE REACTION YOU WANTED?? WELL HERE YOU GO!" Killer proceeded to get tossed down as Dream stormed out of the meeting room and Cross ran after him, He laughed and turned to Nightmare who was reading a book, unimpressed "he looks like you when hes mad, his eyes even turned a bit purple" "we are twins afterall, don't forget that" "Right Right"

Cross treats his giant knife like its no big deal and waves it around like it weighs nothing but it weighs a solid 80-90 pounds of solid metal, he can also do tricks with it(imagine like the color guard people but instead of flags its a giant knife?)

Horror pranks people but since he usually doesn't do it all the blame gets put on Killer so he gets away with a l o t of stuff because of Killer being the fall man, Horror is more chaotic then the other he just doesn't let that side show at all

Nightmare seems to be in a better mood since making truces with Dream and Error was the first to notice because when Error dropped something and it made a big mess instead of the heavy sigh and eye roll he actually handded Error some paper towel to clean it up and Error was so freaked out he almost fought him

Translated from the tomb of the Pharoh Tuk Ur, part 2

Part 1

As the sun began to set, the heat of the day broke bringing a blessed cool breeze. The breeze seemed to waken the city of Amm’Ti and before long the streets were filled with the sounds of people and a hub of celebration. Tables and carpets were pulled from houses so that neighbors could sit and feast together. Young girls huddled by the windows, dressing each other in perfumed oils and clean cotton robes. They giggled at the boys that would try to call out them but would not respond until they made it to the boats waiting at the shore. There, girls and boys would slip between the rushes to share a quiet moment in the darkness, watching lamps on the boats glimmer off the surface of the water, like distant fireflies. 

Daa ni took in a breath of the cool air as he excitedly dodged the crowd. While most were heading to the river to watch the procession of the Pharaoh and his family sail down the Nile, Sa’ma had suggested that they go up into the hills to watch the whole thing from above. Daa ni hadn’t been certain that they would see anything up there but spending a quiet moment with Sa’ma beat getting jostled by crowds of drunken people any day. 

The hills were dark by the time Daa ni reached the edge of town, just three large black silhouettes against a purple and deep blue sky. At the gate was Sa’ma in her customary black priestly robes. She blended so well into the hills Daa ni would have entirely missed her if it wasn’t for the oil lamp she was carrying. 

“Took you long enough!” She called waving him over. 

“Sorry!” Daa ni said, catching his breath. “You know how my parents are.” 

“Riiiight,” Sa’ma said, “and it wasn’t because you were staring at all the cute girls on your way here.”

“No!” Daa ni protested, instinctively looking away and blushing. 

She stared at him hard, waiting. He was never good a lying to Sa’ma. 

“Well ok, maybe a little, and it was mostly because I saw Paal ina on my way here.” 

Sa’ma snorted. “Paal ina? Why would she be on the streets? Doesn’t she think they are beneath her or something?” 

“She doesn’t think that!” 

Sa’ma gave Daa ni a ‘don’t bullshit with me’ look. 

“Ok well maybe sometimes she does think that, but today was different! She was with Daa’sh and Kwa an and they were looking at some of the boats.”

“Huh,” Sa’ma said, surprised. “Aren’t they usually in the boats? What are they doing on the shore?”

Daa ni shrugged, his mind filled with thoughts of how pretty Paal ina had looked, how beautiful her long black hair was, how it swayed liked papyrus in the wind. She wouldn’t give him the time a day of course, but a crush was a crush and Daa ni was happy to look on from the distance.

“Alright,” Sa’ma said, “I see that puppy dog face on you, forget about Paal ina, we have more fun stuff to do.”

Daa ni shook the thoughts from his head. “Speaking of which, what are we doing? And is Tuk Ur really going to show up?” 

Just as he said this there was a shout from behind him and both Sa’ma and Daa ni turned to see a dark skinned boy running towards them in the distance. This was the simplest either had seen Tuk Ur dressed. Normally he was covered in gold, lapis and jade, face painted with markings of a prince. But now, he wore a simple cotton wrap around his hip and his hair was tucked under a neat red head wrap. As he came up panting, Daa ni couldn’t help noting how different he looked without the makeup, more a boy like him and less a prince. 

“Sorry for the wait, you guys,” Tuk Ur said. “It took a while to distract Hotep, he gets so crazy when it comes to these celebrations.”

“Are you sure its ok for you to be leaving?” Daa ni asked, looking over Tuk Ur’s shoulder, just in case Hotep was charging down the road behind. Thankfully coast was still clear. 

“It’s fine,” Tuk Ur said, waving his arm. “What are twelve half siblings for if a few can’t play hooky?” 

“Right…” Sa’ma said, looking uncertain. If Sa’ma’s life was heaven, Daa ni would consider Tuk Ur’s life hell. Yes, he was a prince of Egypt, but with twelve siblings all vying for the throne and the thought of assination not off the table, Daa ni wasn’t sure how Tuk Ur had survived so far. On top of that whoever won was guaranteed to execute or exile the rest as well as any nobles who supported said rival. Frankly it was dangerous for Daa ni and Sa’ma to be seen around Tuk Ur as he so far seemed to be in dead last when it came to reaching the throne. But Tuk Ur, Sa’ma and Daa ni had all been friends since they were tiny and they were determined to stay friends for as long as they could, social life be damned. And actually damned they were as all three had faults that prevent them from “fitting in.” 

Daa ni was the son of sorcerers, an occupation that was uneasily accepted within the Royal Courts. Only the Pharaoh seemed to trust his parents, and nobles were ready and willing to blame any misfortune on them. This made an easy target, recommended even, for the young noble and royal boys trying to make a name for themselves. 

Sa’ma had been considered a promising daughter of the illustrious Mann’son clan. One of the few rare clans that managed to survive complete execution not through one but two Pharaohs. Their loyalty to the current Pharaoh was considered one of the strongest, until Sa’ma joined the royal court. Just on her first day she managed to piss off everyone by showing up in black priestly robes instead of the usual white and gold and declaring that she’d rather become an embalmer to marry one of the princes. From then on her family limited her presence in the Royal halls as much as possible. 

Finally Tuk Ur, somewhere in the middle of the seven princes and five princesses. He was the least noticed and the least listened to in all of Amm’Ti. Despite this Daa ni found Tuk Ur to not only be incredibly kind but incredibly smart. He knew everything from the paths to take if you want to avoid unpleasant run ins, to the ins and out of the royal law. His only flaw was that he was smaller then the rest of his siblings and had no strength. Unfortunately those were the pre-requisite to becoming a ruler, whether you had the skill to or not. Daa ni always thought that if Tuk Ur was lucky enough to be exiled, he would join him and see the rest of the world. 

“Shall we get going?” Sa’ma asked lifting her oil lamp. “This stuff ain’t cheap you know.”

“Right,” Daa ni said. Tuk Ur nodded as both boys followed Sa’ma out of the city and into the darkening hills above.

Yeah absolutely!!! I can give a quick run down of everyone’s pref, too!

Actively doesn’t like or is scared of Them - Patch, Hawk, Cue, Pictoris, Berry

Indifferent to Them - Papyrus, Red, Haze, Eclipse, Snare, Hemlock, Raviel, Pin, Ice

Likes Them well enough - Sans, Blue, Gold, Copper, Dove, Rust, AR, Luck, Ara, Boötes, Cire, Lace, Rosewood, Clover, Perp

Loves Them!! - Stretch, Ghost, Coal, Boss

Just an overall animal person - Edge, Dusk, Antares, Elester, Void

Most of the guys in indifferent would also be friendly with them, they just don’t really have any draw to them particularly, while the only ones afraid of them would be Patch and Berry

That being said! The guys that like them would be friendly with them, wouldn’t mind keeping the household friendly types as pets, and might be interested in learning more about them from those that are more interested! Of which, Stretch, Ghost, and Coal would be the ones with most direct and specific interest!! Boss is mostly just in that category because he likes them more than most other animals, and may keep a more exotic type as a pet, but otherwise isn’t like the others as much.

Antares would also be an exception to being just an animal lover overall! The other guys in that category love animals, but rarely seek them out as any sort of specific interest, while Antares loves animals, all animals, a lot! He’d love to read books or watch specials about any of them, he’d love any chance to meet any animals, from something as simple as a cat to the most exotic creatures on earth!

So!! Antares and Stretch would likely be the most knowledgeable on those dudes, they’d know tons of different species and breeds, and may even keep some as pets, household situation allowing, while Ghost more so just likes them in general. Would enjoy keeping a pet or visiting them at a zoo or reserve, but he doesn’t really seek out information about them as much. Just likes that they exist and finds them neat! I think he’d have an especially soft spot for snakes. Antares might also have a tiny bias for, if this applies, all the strange creatures in the deep sea. That’s not so much amphibian or reptilian, but it’s adjacent agjdhsjfjdj

I think Stretch would especially love learning about their histories and like, their evolution! Amphibians especially, they’re so neat to him, well, and komodo dragons, I think they’d also be a favorite! I’d imagine he’d really enjoy having an aquarium with some newts and fish!

Oh! And Coal loves salamanders and snakes a lot!! But lizards are a close second place, he’d love to learn more about them on the surface, he really admires how adaptable they are and how unique they are to so many other animals!

Fun tangentially related fact! Edge loves when toads visit his garden, and leaves little “scrap nests” of leaves and garden trimmings around the flowers and porch for them <3

Because I rarely hear of other interactions with your boys and what not, I wanna ask how do your skeleton brothers get along with your Napstatons/Mettatons?

Undertale: I’d think that after the skeleton brothers (mostly Papyrus) gets over the fact that Mettaton is a celebrity, they’d be pretty good acquaintances. Papyrus finds inspiration in Mettaton and sometimes helps him with any new show ideas. Comic is just his chill, social self with Mettaton. He thinks he’s neat.

Underswap: Jayce is a big fan of Napstaton, so he’s always gushing whenever they are around him (but if Jayce continues being himself and heroic maybe he’ll sweep Napstaton off of their feet). Paps tries to be chill about it but he’s also a fan too. He secretly learned how to dance from watching their shows. Paps and Happy are friends since Paps comes by with some inventions that’ll help his farm.

Underfell: Ruben is meh with Metts and Naps. Metts is just a celebrity and Naps is… that ghost who takes care of a snail farm and makes mediocre music. Pyre is both a fan of Metts and sort of pal/acquaintance/the person you sometimes have to trust that they’ll at least keep monsters at his resort safe from the harsh rulings. He’s indifferent with Naps.

Swapfell: Mal denies he’s a fan. Napsta could care less if Mal wasn’t (but Mal also for some reason is offended by that?). Rus is honestly here for some cool music he can listen to while he works or is alone. Safe to say that Rus is a fan of Napsta. Rus and Haps are acquaintances. They pass by each other sometimes and wave at each other whenever Mal has to go to Waterfall.

Fellswap: Interesting you would ask me this because I barely touched it in a recent comic I did of Aster and Cyrus. Aster considers Nyx his friend (and canonically is his crush) who took him in when Cyrus needed Aster to stay somewhere else. He also considers Metta a friend since they knew each other through Cyrus. Nyx doesn’t really like Cyrus because he was an ass to Metta after his accident, but he tolerates him because Aster knows Cyrus is just going through it and wants to make sure he’s safe.

The Nebular Theory (AO3) Plot Semi-But-Not-Really Spoilers Below the Cut - Clarifying Points for the First Two Chapters

I have been having a blast reading some of the super neat comments people have been leaving on the fic I’ve been writing over on AO3

But I have seen some people commenting about their confusion and I’m worried that in my attempt not to give away too much, I may have said too little. Ideally more about this should be given in small snippets at the beginning of the upcoming chapters (like in the Chapter Summary section that I am definitely using incorrectly) but in the meantime… here’s a couple of semi-spoilerish clarifying points pertinent to the first two chapters:

The Star is a separate entity from “Gaster”

Both The Star and “Gaster” were in the Void together

The Connecting Thread that Sans and Papyrus used to summon The Star WAS actually and legitimately connected to The Star

The moment where it talks about something tugging (I think the word I used in Ch2 was “twang” like a guitar string being plucked and buzzing on the frets) right after The Star was summoned from the Void is the moment where The Star transfers their line of connection to “Gaster,” which sacrifices their own ability to be easily pulled out of The Void. Like having one of those Coast Guard Floaty Save-Yo-Dumbass Donuts tossed to you and then you giving it to someone else instead, which forces you to let go of whatever it was you were holding onto originally.

Part of the reason I really liked the idea of teasing the reader with this information up front was twofold:

A major plot point is The Star getting Yote into The Void, which makes everyone forget them. I could have waited until we’d spent some time in the story, building up the character development, and Then dropped that Veil of Forgetfulness over the characters left behind so only the readers remember and can see the gaping hole left behind in their wake. But why not have the reader discover alongside the story character who it was that they forgot? Discover, as they realize Exactly who was lost and Exactly what it means to have them metaphorically sink below the waves, what it means for them to have given their only Line of Connection away to “Gaster” so that the soggy lump could finally escape the Void where he’d been trapped.

While I mostly want to tell a fun story… like… Memento Mori and all that. Right? I … hate getting the rug pulled out from under me. I hate “and then they died” shock value. But showing the funeral pyre up front let’s the reader know that, when this Moment arrives, that it was planned from the start. That all the sweet and beautiful moments that happened to them happened with death on the horizon. (I say death very loosely and mostly poetically but not very literally. I DID promise a happy ending. There IS a reason MC spent so long working with Pap to help inspire him to build The Machine. Consider it Chekhov’s Blueprint if you will lol) And I hope that, in some ways, it makes all the sweet moments sweeter and the hard moments less bitter. Less bitter because… they made it, right? Death still waits on the horizon, but wait he must. And while he waits, we triumph. We feast. We laugh and we love and those moments matter. Death (again, used very loosely) will Sit, damnit, and he will WAIT and we will Have our moments while he does.

Author has shown you Chekhov’s Gun, but author has also shown you Chekhov’s Defibrillator. Shit’s going to go down. But we have the med kit on standby. Death can reap, but we never gave him permission to harvest. And while we’re at it, we’re taking this sad, soggy old man with us. That’s right. We’re taking him right out of your basket and putting him in ours. Just because we can.

I love doing sports, but usually just for fun. And I have mild epilepsy so I can't do well when there's too much physical or mental pressure.

I don't mind casual flirting and can be flirty and handsy when comfortable with my partner.

I don't like being hugged unless I give permission to someone. Only a few people can hug me or be hugged by me.

I have some cat like tendencies. Like purring and meowing and hissing. I don't do it in public, though.

I am an introvert but I'm also very confident, or at least good at not showing my internal tormoil.

And it I get disrespected, honestly I wouldn't hesitate to either slap or verbally burn a bish.

I love public speaking and my physical strength is pretty decent.

I am an artist and aspiring animator.

I can be pretty bad tempered and sensitive. My feelings can be pretty intense.

I have these moments were I just shut down and don't want to do anything.

And I have a bad case of procrastination + perfectionism and a tad bit of laziness.

My deal breaker, is someone who doesn't accept the fact that I have a social battery and there's somethings that are physically dangerous for me to do.

A pushy and bad tempered person is a big deal breaker. I need someone patient.

I LOVE black cats. And ramen, kebab, steak and lasagna are my favorite foods.

Please do not pair me with undyne or toriel. Toriel is a mother figure for me and undyne would cause me so many triggers because of her hotheadedness.

What would happen with s/o and skelly that for a day became human and skeleton monster (human s/o became skeleton monster and sans/paps became human for a day :3)

Undertale!Sans - Huh. Well. This is an unexpected turn of events. Initial reaction? Uh... neat? It's fairly neutral because he really doesn't have any idea what to make of the situation, other than he hopes this all ends up being a dream, cause, he really does prefer his own body.

Sans's first reaction to being in a human body is... it's squishy? It's very squishy. But also it's a lot larger and a lot heavier than he's used to, which makes it hard to walk around in. This excess flesh makes it also much more difficult to bend in the same way, it gets in his way. Not to mention, uh, why the hell does it make noises randomly? That's... concerning. it's normal? no. this can't be normal, what's wrong with you? Also, bodily needs is... new. And bodily fluids... okay, he's gone from "this is whatever" to "i'm completely disgusted i want my own body back."

However, seeing you as a skeleton is a completely different experience. It's... not exactly what he'd imagined you'd look like, but maybe it's because he was so used to your human skeleton-type that seeing you more like a monster skeleton just looks... off? Well, it's not like he doesn't like it, but at the same time, when will he ever not like you? Kinda hard to not find you cute.

Undertale!Papyrus - What??? What happened??? Why is he the squishier one now? No, this isn't right. This is just downright cruel! He's not the Great Papyrus without the proper battle body, and that includes his skeleton body!!! One in a flesh container just won't do! Oh, not to insult you, of course. Yours is fine. But Papyrus is a skeleton through and through!

He's not gonna be in a good mood all day. Not to mention he's going to be sick. His habits that he usually sticks to while a monster (not sleeping or eating much) are going to kill him while hes stuck in a human body. He'll be slowed down partway through trying to do his usual work -- you think some measely curse is going to stop him? No. -- and start complaining that he can't quite keep up with things and he keeps feeling tired. You'll definitely have to get him up to speed about humans needing breaks and food a lot more than monsters do.

In terms of seeing you as a skeleton... Well, he's far too annoyed with his own state to really fully recognize it, but he does like it. He'll definitely help you if you need some advice adjusting to it, although more or less you're going to find that a magic monster body requires a lot less upkeep than a human one. Mostly, his noteworthy opinion on you having a skeleton body for the day is now, somehow he feels a little closer to you. The exchange in experiences is definitely something he won't forget.

Oh I'm More Than Glad To Talk About Deeprune

ok so lets run through the au in sections

DEEPRUNE

Story:

The cast are now all mythological mermaid/siren creatures.

The Light World is the epipelagic zone (and upper half of mesopelagic zone) of the ocean and live in ignorance of the strange creatures that look as they do in the twilight below...

Dark World is mid-mesopelagic and below, full of frightening sea creatures those so blessed to live in sea reef coral homes could never hope to fathom... and should never hope to meet.

One day, one of the 4 kings of the ocean basins drew help from a powerful, unknown force and imprisoned his peers at the bottom of the deep sea trenches... And to this day, he rules his little area, biding his time for the day the Dark can take over the Light.

That is, of course, unless a very human looking siren, a sea crocodile tough girl, a bioluminscent jellyfish(?) fluffy boy, and a villainous... cloaked hybrid thing can fulfill a very familiar prophecy...

Locations:

Light Zone

Hometown - A bright and cheerful coral reef with a good amount of merfolk in the community.

School ‐ Building constructed out of stone and hidden amongst normal marine foliage and coral. Normal congregations of school akin to what the land-dwellers (or terrans, as the merfolk might call them) do for their own children.

Hospital ‐ Made in the same way as the school and serves the same function as its land counterpart. The hospital does have different instruments to serve its marine patients, however.

QC's diner - Hidden under a rock shelf and is more of an open seating arrangement. Fan coral serves as a sort of decorative barrier to keep the seating plan from being too open.

ICEE's p"e"zzeria - Incredibly conspicuous and placed between the brightest coral on the reef for the attention-grabbing colors. High visibility means free advertising, no?

The Graveyard - In a clearing among the kelp forest, there lies a set of engraved stones covered in algae. It's especially quiet there. Peaceful when you focus on the sunlight filtering in through the kelp stalks.

The bunker - Placed just before the continental shelf begins to fall off into complete and utter darkness. The merfolk in town warn their children to never near that area.

Dark Zone

????? - A craggy mess of rocks on the outskirts of the continental shelf. The light begins to grow strange here for whatever reason...

Castle Town - A shipwreck amongst the craggy rocks in the dark where a strangely kind shadowy figure lives.

Field - A seemingly endless stretch of ocean in which a Lightner's vision alone cannot be used to find one's way in the dark, lest they be horribly lost until the end of time. Or lest they stray further down, where it grows darker, yet darker...

The Scarlet Forest - Not really a forest, per se. More a jestful remark over the collection of sea creatures that have evolved to have a red tone to their skin as camouflage in the watery depths. The creatures are so very frightening and strange with their sharp-toothed open maws and flashy photophores. Strange to think how normal this all is down in the depths...

Great Board - The inlets and caves that checker the continental slope and house very many deep sea merfolk. Very many large tunnels dug out to house many of the population and keep them interconnected as a society. Alas, this stationary grouping also makes them vulnerable to the power of kingly apex predators.

The Castle - Hidden within the depths of the Mariana Trench. None of the Board have seen the castle in such grave depths and lived to tell the tale. None but a strange barreleye and his hyper young ward...

Characters:

Lightners

Kris - A mostly human-shaped siren, save for fishy bits, including but not limited to, gills and an iridescent shine to their hair. Always sneaking off to play tricks on unsuspecting beach goers. Kind of a quiet kid but their mischievous grin says it all for them.

Susie - A rude, rough-and-tumble kind of sea crocodile gill girl that does not appreciate nautical wordplay. She will appreciate your lunch money, though.

Noelle - The most nervous kelpie you'll ever meet. Easily provoked but she's very sweet and intelligent and perhaps she's a shade dorky, but it's through that dorkiness she'll find a way to make you smile.

Asriel - Sweet and effortlessly loveable and smart and talented capricorn brother to Kris who's just gone off to do independent study in a different sea basin! He's coming back to town next week; Kris seems a little downcast as of late, though...

Alphys - Marine iguana teacher at the reef's local school. Please don't ask her for her reviews on neat human media she's managed to salvage, we'll be here all week.

Undyne - The undying undine on everyone's minds! ...Because she's likely tried to tackle you for minor offenses like littering or jay-swimming in the humdrum life of this little reef town. She's somewhat of a vigilante, working by her own judicial metrics and warning the reef of any terran sightings or other such troubles. Not much to report on though, these days...

Toriel & Asgore - The capricorn divorcees. Haven't you heard; the news has spread all over the place! What a shame too, they looked just like the perfect reef family...

Sans and Papyrus - The strange brothers that just moved into the reef... Coelacanth merfolk with mottled, skeletal appearances. The shorter brother "runs" the reef market. ...If you can get a fin in the door, anyway. The taller one hasn't made much of a public appearance in town yet; hard to comment on him.

Darkners

Ralsei - The prince of the prophesy, as well as the bringer of Light to the Dark, as symbolized through his charmed hat and cloak, to make him appear as though he is but a jellyfish that sways with the currents. Seems to be as soft in personality as a jellyfish's bell though.

Lancer - A hooded, mischievous figure that's always up to no good. It's kind of hard to tell what he is, with his short, stubby tentacles and furry, webbed paws, but he's kind of too adorable and personable to care much about it. Popular vote's on dumbo octopus though.

Rouxls - A vigilant barreleye with his haunting eyes always to the sky in search of tributes to pay his king or danger from which to protect the child of a royal bloodline he's been entrusted to care for. He's ditzy and kind of an asshole, but deep down, he's got a good SOUL... that glows through his transparent chest.

Seam - Ah? Looking for wares? Seam's will definitely have something to cure what ails you. The old anglerfish sits behind the shop counter, items lit only by the faint light of small jellies and the wisened shopkeep's lantern-like forehead protrusion. Go for the low prices and stay for the enchanting tales.

Jevil - A laugh sounds in the dark before you could ever approach his cell. He's nothing but needle teeth smiles when he explains to you the nature of the game. Numbers game. Must be a couple of sharks to have gotten down there in the first place. And this freed jester wouldn't have it any other way - sharks to goblin shark.

King - He is, by all accounts, imperceivable. He is larger than life and covered in shifting, writhing appendages that do not keep the shape you once thought them to be, no matter how hard you attempt to keep your focus on any point of his form. He is Leviathan, and the fact that you are before him means that you are incredibly fucked.

At the end of your recent fic you mentioned you subscribe to the knight papyrus theory!! I really wanna hear your thoughts on that.

I personally believe that papyrus is the knight and he is opening the fountains in an attempt to bring gaster back, since sans has given up on the machine. However, papyrus never gives up and is doing this as a last resort. He is willing to do whatever it takes.

i like that !!! again i like the theory mostly because i think it would be neat and he deserves it. <3

but we haven't seen a single bit of him, there's been SO much teasing to see him. i don't think kris made the first or even second fountain (definitely didn't know about dark worlds at first, and i doubt they coulda gone all the way to the library the way they were walking)

and again the fact we haven't seen papyrus. where is he toby give him to me
