Not politics, but my favorite BatShit Canada moment in recent history was when that dude from Cineplex left/got fired a lil before the pandemic started (Tanner Zipchen) and revealed he had been paid almost exclusively in CInePoints for. Far too long. Wonder how that guys doing now lmao
lest we forget

”The Tom that Harry plays […] is full of potential and colour and hope and future. […] He was very honest in his performance. Harry’s a wonderful talent because there’s not a lot between him and the camera. What you see is what you get, he’s very present.”
- Linus Roache on Harry and his performance of Tom. (11 September 2022)

saw tbosas in theater today and I love it, but the pace felt so rushed, I guess it's cause I know that there's more to the story and also coryo came off so likable, cause there's no intern monologs where we can see how deranged he truly is, but I got entertained and that's what matter 8/10

Spy x Family Code: White was poorly promoted in Canada.
Crunchyroll put its movie website up before Cineplex (and probably other theaters had later) even had listings. I've seen a couple comments from people who checked early on who mistakenly believed it was only playing at a few theaters in Canada. Cineplex also did not even list a lot of additional theaters until this week, meaning you get around two days before opening night to even know if it will be playing in your town. Very short notice.
I'm seeing it tonight, so far only the dub showing has other seats reserved. I'm sure it will be bigger based on previous experience but I think they could have done a lot better.

Boomers Do Barbie
Pretty in pink, doing Barbie with one of my BFFs. This boomer joined a friend and her husband to see Barbie, the movie, this week. My own husband declined and I’m afraid he short-changed himself. I have only one word to describe the movie—BRILLIANT! When the first whispers of a Barbie movie started hitting the media I could not imagine what on earth they could concoct in Hollywood to make a movie…

Hi Daisie,
I saw you were sort of keeping tabs on MP premieres and whatnot. I reached out to the Vancouver International Film Festival if there was a chance of them adding the film to the festival (which runs Sep 29-Oct 9) at a later date (they sometimes do that (did it with Lady Bird a couple of years ago)), and if not, hoping that they'd screen it at the end of the month at their independent theatre. I just got a reply:
We won't have the opportunity to add My Policeman to our festival lineup. And it's likely to be destined for a Cineplex location for its theatrical release. We're sure there's many titles in our lineup that will appeal to you though.
I'm sad. I don't like supporting Cineplex, I'd much rather support my local indie cinemas and it makes me a bit mad that probably Cineplex saw an opportunity with Harry's name and got all distribution rights or whatever it's called. And so they're the only ones allowed to screen the film for a certain amount of weeks and theeeen indie theatres might screen it. It's a thing, an ongoing battle between smaller independent cinemas and the big franchise, but oh well.
TL,DR: My Policeman will probably hit some Cineplex theatres in Vancouver (and the rest of Canada..?) on the theatrical release date.
Hi dear,
Thank you!!! This is amazing news!
CANADA: KEEP AN EYE ON CINEPLEX FOR MY POLICEMAN DATES starting Oct 21!

#MoviesIWatch - Renfield (2023)
More gory violence than I imagined it to have (not that I'm complaining) and less Nicolas Cage than I imagined it to have (I am certainly complaining).
Seriously, forget Renfield, let's focus on the Count. And bring Hugh Jackman's Van Helsing back while we're at it.
Thank me later.
