There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am
I have become comfortably numb
"The music was composed by the guitarist, David Gilmour, while the lyrics were written by the bassist, Roger Waters, who based them on his experience of being injected with tranquilisers for stomach cramps before a performance in 1977. He said, " a doctor backstage gave me a shot of something that I swear to God would have killed a fucking elephant. I did the whole show hardly able to raise my hand above my knee. The doctor said it was a muscle relaxant. But it rendered me almost insensible. It was so bad that at the end of the show, the audience was baying for more. I couldn't do it. That was the longest two hours of my life, trying to do a show when you can hardly lift your arm."
The song's working title was "The Doctor".
This 2005 performance in London was the last time Pink Floyd played together live.
*Also notice that just 19 years ago the audience was completely engaged, and not recording the concert through their phones.
I almost lost my mind drawing this because my iPad is fucking OLD but I’m scared to get a new one because I’m pretty sure all my procreate drawings would go poof if I did- but anyways the fucking psd files wouldn’t open in messages when I sent them to myself and the quality was ASS when I tried to email them so I tried pdfs but you can’t save those to the camera roll (DUh) and then I landed on a png and that’s worked (thank god or I would kms)
ANYWAYS-
A continuation of my Song Art series Comfortably Numb, Pink Floyd
