When my new favorite guy shares his name with my very favorite bird… I make dumb art.
It’s Coop… with a Coop!

Someone different showed up in the garden yesterday. I believe it is a Coopers hawk and I know they nest up at Black Rock a few blocks away.

Went to the state park on my lunch hour today. Just to get away from the stress of the office. Walked the trail a bit, and a Cooper's hawk landed right in front of me. Almost like it was saying, "hey girl, don't stress." 😊

This fluffy predator has been hanging out on the fence for quite a while. And in all that time I have only seen one foot. (See below) That must be a daunting challenge if so, for a creature that counts on its talons to catch a meal. I’m guessing it’s a young Coopers hawk.
Note from @gloriousbluebirdobservation: “They stand on one foot to thermoregulate! When they are cold they pull their foot into their fluff to increase their body temperature and stay warm.” So this friend is okay, just keeping warm.
