dickroy — I need to read more of them (especially in outsiders) but it does look like these two are gonna seamlessly transition from beating each othef up to fuckinh at any giving time. I approve.
dickbabs — 9 times out of 10 I dislike it. the 10th time they're a fucking hot mess and I still root for a breakup but I'm enjoying myself immensely.

folks i am back to writing young justice fic after literally 10 years.... and nightwing/zatanna no less, my original otp..
Some versions of him are all business, but his thumb on her chin is a break in his image through which she can see the real thing. He can do it, he can be both Nightwing and Dick, both lover and friend, both hero and drunk guy waiting for his drink so he can get back out to the dance floor. When she thinks of herself, that line between hero and girl leaning against the bar counter isn’t so easy to see.

For the movie/ TV show ask game: Young Justice? I think you watched that.
Yeah, I watched that! I have had Many Many Thoughts ever since I actually read the comics though (like for example why they decided to name this random line up Young Justice when it has nothing to do with the comics xDDD).

favorite female character: This one is actually tougher. Ngl, the girls in this cartoon are very flat (and it feels even more disappointing after you read the comics??). I think loved Zatanna in this
favorite male character: KALDUR'AHM. Granted, now that I read the comics I gotta say I love Jackson Hyde more than the YJ version of the character, but Kaldur actually was a huge part of why I got into reading DC Comics because I loved Kaldur'ahm and wanted to learn more about him and reading the Aquaman comics introducing Jackson Hyde was one of the first things I read! Also special shout out to my favorite bird boy, Dick Grayson gotta be one of my favorite character flavors, but I already loved Dick before this show, so I feel like the clear victor is the show-exclusive character I actually don't get anywhere else!

worst female character: while I didn't super bond with any of the female characters, I also didn't hate any? Like, I wouldn't call Megan or Artemis the worst, I just didn't particularly vibe with them personally
worst male character: SPORTSMASTER. Okay look. I haven't read any comics with him yet. So my only comparison for him is the Stargirl TV show but I would DIE for the Larry and Paula on the Stargirl TV show so like fuck him on Young Justice CAN YOU IMAGINE JUST CAN YOU IMAGINE Larry and Paula from Stargirl, the BEST parent who ADORE Artemis so so so much her NUMBER ONE cheerleaders, but in the YJ universe? Aka the parents of BOTH Artemis and Jade?? Them as Lian's grandparents?? I want that so badly. Also on account of "oh so you got our little girl pregnant? I ALWAYS WANTED A SON TOO" and guess Roy is now part of the family too if he wants to or not. And I don't CARE if the Stargirl TV show wildly goes off comic canon there and if YJ is more comic canon accurate, because abusive and neglective and uncaring villain parents exist in the DOZENS, I'd rather throw that OUT and cherish the different and more exciting interpretation, I want the Larry who would absolutely cheer for and cherish Jade, Artemis and Lian so so much

Thoughts on Robstar and Johnzee
Honestly had to google first one. I'm a DickBabs person, so no comment on Robstar, sorry. I'm not a multishipper, I also don't believe in polyamory. So all this mix-mash stuff with characters is not for me. I'm a loyalist, so if I have an OTP I can never see those two characters with somebody else or share themselves with third parties, that's disgusting for me. Nothing personal, it's my problem. I know Dick and Kory has a lot of fans, but I got to know DickBabs first and I don't jump ships if I already got strongly attached to one.
Johnzee are adorable. There's nothing I like more than characters sharing something in common and I believe John and Zatanna share their passion for magic. It is also ironic how they are another couple with blonde man and dark haired woman, it's like I have a type (Cloud and Tifa, Naruto and Hinata, Loid and Yor). If they wanted to, they could be most powerful couple in DC Universe, there isn't much than can beat magic.

Dick Grayson Ship rank
Dickbabs: 2/10 I really don’t like it, their dynamic is really toxic as a couple and she is really bad towards him and borderline emotionally abusive and they always downplay him and his abilities to make her look good and completely disregard his other great love interests to make her his only love. Also she blamed him for being non consensually kissed by Tarantula. They are much better when written as friends.
Dick/Wally: 5/10 I love the idea of this ship but the sibling like relationship they had before kinda ruins it for me.
Dick/Bea: 8/10 I loved them together it was the only thing I liked about the Ric Grayson arc and I was so mad when the got rid of her for Babs
Dick/Helena: 4/10 I liked them but I didn’t like a lot of the weird sexualization of him in this comic run and with her
Dick/Shawn: 9/10 his most healthy comics relationship
Dick/Kory: 8/10 I liked them while they lasted but they give me the vibe of the relationship where they both grew up and moved on but still remain friends. She also victim blamed him for being raped by mirage.
Zatanna/Dick: 10/10 this is my otp, while they are only together in Young justice (comics and TV) I felt they were really cute and because of the different way they fought they still each got to shine and one wasn’t downplayed to make the other look better. They were sweet and Flirty and wholesome always there for one another and it was really cute to see how they interacted. Wasted potential 100% plus both characters are performers at heart so they are perfect for each other.

Summary:
Zatanna convinces Dick to be her assistant at one of her magic shows.

“Thank you New York you’ve been a magical audience! Goodnight!”
And with a few whispered words, Zatanna disappeared and the crowd cheered with applause.
It had been a LONG weekend and it was going to be an even LONGER three weeks. She had just done two shows a day (one in the afternoon and one in the evening) for the past 4 days and she was exhausted. Don’t get her wrong, she loves what she does, but her feet were killing her and she would pay BIG money to have someone rub them while she soaked in a nice warm bubble bath right about now.
Zatanna started to get comfortable in her dressing room. She had taken off her top hat and boots and slouched down on the leather couch when there was a light knock at her door.
The magician groaned. She was NOT getting back up and she figured it was her manager Traci anyway to shower her with praises, so she muttered an enchantment to make the door open on its own.
To her surprise, it wasn’t Traci, but an extremely attractive guy with eyes as blue as the ocean and a grin that would make her knees go weak if she wasn’t already laying down. She immediately perked up.
“Hey ‘Tanna”
“Dick? What are you doing here?” She beamed, with a smile as bright as the lights on stage.
Dick closed the door behind him and walked over to her, with a large bouquet of white roses (her favorite) in tow.
“I wanted to see your show. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it and I overheard one of the security guards at Wayne Tech raving about how great you were yesterday. So, I decided to check it out for myself.” He handed her the flowers.
“I gotta say, he wasn’t wrong. You’re amazing. But what else is new?”
Zee giggled and smelled the roses. She never understood why people didn’t like their scent. Oh well, that’s not important right now.
The detective picked up her stretched out legs so he could take a seat on the couch beside her and placed them over his lap once he got comfortable. “Plus, I decided that it was a good excuse to see you. I missed you since you’ve been working all weekend.”
“You’re the sweetest and you know you don’t need an excuse to see me.” Zatanna sat up and kissed him on the cheek. “But thank you Boy Wonder. You just made my night.”
“And you made mine with your performance. I couldn’t take my eyes off you ‘Tanna.” Dick smirked at her, his eyes filled with admiration. The magician loved when he looked at her like that.
“But I wasn’t the only one though.” The former Robin added, snapping her out of her daze.
“You should’ve seen those men’s faces... hell, some women too. It wasn’t just the magic that they gawked at all night.” He scoffed, playing with her fishnets under his hands.
“Dick Grayson, are you... jealous?” She teased.
Dick snickered and shrugged. “Can you blame me?”
“You got a point there.” She winked.
Even though she didn’t want to move from her comfortable position, the mistress of magic stood and walked over to the sink, maybe swishing her hips a little more than usual. She felt lingering eyes follow her every move and she couldn’t help but smile to herself.
“Like what you see, Boy Wander?” Zatanna tempted, purposely flipping her hair has she filled a vase with water to put her roses in.
Dick laughed. “You know I do ‘Tanna. But like I said, so does everyone else.”
Zee walked back over to the man, but this time taking a seat on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck while she laid on his chest. It still baffled her how that 13 year old boy she met all those years ago turned into such a hunk.
“Well you know what you can do to change that, right?”
Dick paused. “Hmm, no, I can’t say that I do.”
The magician pulled him close. “You could always join me on stage.” Pressing her lips to his ear, she whispered “That way, I won’t get all the attention.”
She could feel his heart beating a little faster and she couldn’t help but squirm in his lap herself.
The detective turned to press a slow kiss onto his girlfriend’s temple. “What would you do to me? Turn me into a rabbit and pull me out of your hat?”
Zatanna hummed. “Although I like the sound of that, I think I have some other ideas for you handsome.” Zee sat up to straddle her boyfriend’s hips. “But I can tell you all about them in the morning. I’m afraid our lips will be a little too busy tonight.”
Dick bit his lip with anticipation. “Deal.”
Like she said, there wasn’t much talking the rest of the night.
“Ladies and gentlemen! We have a special guest joining us for tonight’s performance. Please welcome my assistant for this evening, Dick Grayson!”
The crowd erupted in applause and many high pitched squeals and cheers filled the room, especially from the women in the audience.
Lights flashed to the center of the stage and smoke fumed as Dick walked out to join the mistress of magic. He wore a white dress shirt with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. It was tucked into his black slacks that hugged him in all the right places and navy suspenders that lay over his broad chest.
Okay, maybe this wasn’t a good idea after all.
“I am honored to have one of my favorite people in the world help me out here tonight. And with that, LET’S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD!”
Zatanna smiled at Dick and gave him a wink before he turned to set up the props for the first act.
During the performance, Dick couldn’t help but watch how fluid and precise Zatanna’s movements were as she executed her magic tricks. She had the audience eating right out of the palm of her hands. She was born for the stage and the fact that he knows that the viewers were getting something real, made it even more mesmerizing for him. He really was a lucky guy to have Zatanna Zatara as his girlfriend.
He couldn’t be more pleased that he could assist her during the show. Even though he played such a minute part in it all, the 9 year old performer that he tried so hard to bury all those years ago was smiling brightly inside and it wouldn’t have happened without the beautiful woman out on that stage.
“And with the help of my handsome assistant—“
That’s my cue!
Dick cheesed from ear to ear before he walked out to accompany the remarkable woman that he loved with all his heart.

favorite thing about them
She's one of the most versatile DC character I've ever seen. Is she a famous stage performer? Check. A superhero? Check. But she's also an extremely capable magician with a heart of gold despite the amount of shit she has gone through and I love that from a character.

Most shippable character?
See, whenever I'm deep in a fandom that has a large cast of characters I like, I multiship like I'm being paid to do it. Once the hyperfixation goes away and I move on to other things most of the ships fade from my mind and only the Peak OTPs remain.
So rn it's, as I said, all about detective comics comics and The 100. In the latter, I'm multishipping about as much as I did the first time I watched. The characters I find most shippable are Raven Reyes and Echo kom Azgeda. It's in part because they have quite a few great dynamics with other characters (and especially each other!), but also because canon disappointed me on the romantic front with both of them. They each had a shot at a really good ship; with the same guy, actually, though at different times. But his character degenerated SO MUCH that by the time he was unceremoniously killed off I didn't want him near anyone I cared about lmao.
Contrast this with two of my other favourite characters, Emori and Murphy, who have an incredibly satisfying romance that canon completely sold me on, and thus, even though I do dabble in some multishipping (Raven would be a great third, just sayin'), in my heart they're only for each other.
I say this because it's a good point of comparison with DC: when I find myself deeply satisfied by a canon romance, I can only see it. It's when I really like a character but I feel that canon fails to deliver what I'd consider A Grand Romance for them that I start collecting my little rareships lmfao.
That 'verse complicates it even more to all the different canons, i.e. my OTP for Dick Grayson is Zatanna in the Young Justice cartoon. But in the comics I don't have that type of definite pairing for him, and I rotate various dynamics that I simply enjoy to see written well, none of which I see as fully OTP material: Helena (Bertinelli!!!), Koriand'r (as little as I've read), Barbara (with caveats. Sooo many caveats), Jessie Quick, Roy, Joey Wilson... he's just a very shippable character with quite a lot of interesting dynamics all around, even if none of them have fully won me over.
On the other hand you have Jason Todd. His "shippability" is less about what's presented in canon than about finding a way to ENHANCE canon lol. Basically, I'm beginning to grow curious about reading about my special little guy being put in romantic situations, BUT I find canon largely lacking on this front. Which means that at some point, when I have more time to explore and read fic, I'll probably be seeking shippy examples that a.) don't involve one of the few ships I reallyreallyreally can't stand (either because they give me the ick or because I think Jason Would Never Do That AKA Fuck That Bore xDD); b.) come with a premise that catches my eyes; c.) include a well-written, interesting portrayal of Jason that's not at odds with my views on him.
Least shippable character?
For The 100, the guy I mentioned, Bellamy. I used to lowkey ship him with quite a few people! Then I hated him and it poisoned everything xD
For DC, barring some of the villains I find endlessly aggravating (Joker, Black Mask)... I'm picking reboot!Barbara. Idk that woman but I know I have zero interesting in seeing her in a romantic context, even with characters with whom I shipped the older version of her.

Hello,
I don't have as many fandom obsessions as people think. But we'll give it a go. I won't go into ACOTAR because I'm not done reading it, no spoilers, but I will cover the current obsessions I have.
1. What are OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
You can blame @shewhowillnotbenamed1 for this list as I watched all of both series because of her; Vampire Diaries and Originals, and I will not be watching Legacies. Bonnie/Elena, Caroline/Elena, Rebekah/Elena, Damon/Elena, Anyone really/Elena; anyone deserves better than Elena in my opinion, and I will die on that fucking hill. Stefan/Caroline didn't make sense to me, because he still fucking dies for Elena. Klaus/Elijah, but I don't ship incest so none of the Mikaelson/Mikaelson ships make sense to me. Freya/Keelin, just why, why would anyone think that ship is appropriate and on screen too; no it has nothing to do with bi women falling in love, but rather the fact Keelin was Freya's prisoner and slave; why would anyone think that an appropriate on screen romance?
There's also DC ships: Garfield Logan/Raven, sorry but it's on the list because it doesn't make sense to me. Bart Allen/Eduardo Dorado Jr, I'm sorry but wtf, Jaime/Bart all the way, not... that. Wally West/Linda Parker, it makes sense, but it doesn't. Clark Kent/Bruce Wayne, I don't get it, at all, I wish I did, but I don't. Dick Grayson/Shawn, just why, why was that a thing, ever, why? Constantine/Zatanna Zatara, I wish it made sense to me, but it doesn't. Kara Zor-El/Jimmy Olson, they continuously try this in comics and on screen and I don't know why but it just doesn't work, as sweet as it could be it just doesn't work. Any Joker ship makes no sense, in any way, just no.
2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?
Kol/Bonnie, if they could get along for five minutes without trying to kill each other, their friendship could've been epic.
Ron/Hermione, I think they're best friends, not a romance.
Bruce/Clark is a BroTP for me, as much as everyone ships it, I just love their friendship. Diana Prince/Clark Kent, again, I think they're great friends, but no chemistry as lovers. Barry Allen/Oliver Queen, Barry Allen/Caitlin Snow, and Barry Allen/Felicity Smoak. Raven/Dick Grayson, I love RobRae, I do, but I do love Dick and Rae's friendship throughout the TT 03 series, and while I ship RobRae hard, I do love their friendship.
21. What are your thoughts on crack ships?
None of my ships, minus Percabeth and a few other oddballs, are ever the popular ship, but I fucking love crack ships. Crack ships are some of the most entertaining, amazing, thought out ships ever. Crack Ships, and minor ships, are always amazing, and thought out, they're also the devil may care of shipping and it's a delight!
