Where do I know you from? 2/?
Hangster crackfic. There are too many Jakes and Bradleys for Jake and Bradley to be dealing with. Or the Universe is just as fed up with them being blind.
PART ONE
PART TWO
Answers do not miraculously present themselves and he decides to switch to water so that he can at least try and track what’s going on, wants to hear the answers to whatever Rooster Three is asking Rooster Four, who is apparently a tattoo artist. Okay then. At least that will be easy enough to remember.
Then Rooster number five walks in and Jake thought Rooster was tall, but this Rooster is taller, several inches taller and Jake looks around helplessly. He’s not strong enough to resist looking at this many Roosters, everywhere he turns there is at least one in his line of sight and his brain is noting that they’re all unfairly attractive, while another part is wondering whether an orgy with versions of the same person is really an orgy.
“I wonder why you ended up so tall,” Rooster Three is saying, head tilted as he studies Rooster Five and Jake wonders if everything remained proportional.
“I ate all my vegetables. What’s going on? Where are we?”
“This is a Navy bar. I’m guessing parallel universes, but we’re all being pulled here for a reason.”
“Wow. This is fascinating. What have you discovered so far?”
“Well, none of us are in the Navy.”
“What?” Jake interrupts, looking at Rooster Three.
“Florist, forensic accountant, tattoo artist…” Rooster Three says, pointing at Rooster One, Two and Four.
“And you?” Rooster Five asks Rooster Three.
Jake’s head is starting to hurt.
“I’m an engineer, but I’m also a professor.”
“Huh. Cool. I got my PhD in physics, but only so I could figure out how to jump out of planes better.”
“And your Jake? What does he do?”
                “He’s a naval aviator.”
                “Same as mine. Interesting.”
“Why? Why is that interesting?” Jake interrupts, trying to follow the volley of words back and forth.
“What does your Bradley do here?”
                “He’s a naval aviator. Why?”
“Oh shit… a universe where he went to boat school.”
                “No. No he enlisted.”
“What?” Rooster Three and Five say simultaneously and Jake draws back a little.
                “Uh. He enlisted?”
“Why did he need to enlist?”
Jake shifts in his seat, because he only knows about all of this because he saw Bradshaw and Maverick’s fractured relationship and then saw how it has slowly been getting stitched back together, slowly and painfully.
“Uh. Maverick pulled his papers from USNA.”
                “And Ice let him?”
                “Ice?” Jake asks.
                “Iceman. Tom Kazansky?”
                “Uh… he’s dead?”
Both Roosters go pale, shaking their heads in denial and Jake wonders if he needs to remind them that this isn’t apparently their universe anyway, so no harm no foul.
“This is fucked up,” Rooster Five mutters, looking close to tears.
“But you know who he is,” Rooster Three says to Jake. “I need a bigger piece of paper.”
                Jake needs a drink.
Screw drinking water so he can deal with the situation better.
Maybe it will make more sense if he’s drunk.
Yet another Rooster has walked in, raised an eyebrow and then just politely asked Penny if she needs a hand behind the bar. She’s accepted and told him that he could deal with all his own people, and now Rooster Six is mixing cocktails, clearly knows his way around behind a bar. He slides one across to Jake and nods his head, lips twitching in amusement.
“You look like you need this.”
“Thanks,” Jake says, and he doesn’t normally drink cocktails, but this is fresh and sweet, hints of pineapple and he takes another sip, salutes Rooster Six with it and gets a wink back.
                He is so fucked.
Nope. No. He was wrong. Now he’s fucked. A new Rooster has arrived, wearing scrubs, and that shouldn’t be as hot as it is. Doctor Bradshaw? Nurse Bradshaw? God. Regardless he looks good. Rooster Three and Five have acquired paper and tape, sticking multiple pieces together to make one large sheet. There are columns. And different colored pens.  They’re asking questions in the name of science and Jake learns that Rooster Seven is in fact a vet and has no idea what has happened.
Well that makes two of them.
Although he knows that all the other Roosters also have no idea, with the exception of Three and Five.
                Weirdos.
The door to the Hard Deck slams open then, and his breath catches. It’s Rooster in uniform, the first Rooster to walk in and be a naval aviator and he hopes like hell this is his Rooster. Rooster waves his hand, looking annoyed.
“Why does the weird shit always happen to me?”
Rooster Three and Five both seem to perk up, turning towards Rooster Eight who looks like he just wants to turn around and walk out.
“For fucks sake… start from the top of the list again I guess.”
“What?” Jake asks, but then Rooster Eight is kissing him and Jake doesn’t have time to even begin kissing back before Rooster Eight is pulling back and frowning.
                “Huh. That’s didn’t work.”
“Did you expect it to?” Rooster Three asks, leaning forward with interest.
“Well, no. But I hoped. We don’t even know what made us swap bodies…”
“Wait, you’ve swapped bodies? With who?”
                “Jake.”
Jake is shaking his head, mouthing no no no, hands held up in supplication but both Rooster Three and Five look fascinated.
“Not you!” Rooster Eight states. “Although, you do look pretty much exactly like my Jake. But you don’t know ASL.”
                “Uh. No?”
“Hmm. I greeted you in ASL when I arrived and you just blanked me. It’s how I knew.”
                Jake looks confused.
“I know ASL in your universe huh?”
“Yeah, you’ve been teaching me so I can communicate with Ice better.”
                “Ice is deaf?”
                “No, the cancer.”
“The what now? Cancer? He got cancer? Is that what he died of here?”
“Wait. Ice is dead here?” Rooster Eight asks, looking just a upset as Three and Five had earlier. Jake is so confused.
“Uh. Admiral Kazansky? Yeah… about a year ago. Why?”
That seems to cause a flurry of conversation and questions and Rooster Three and Five are adding a column.
“So eight of us so far and only one has become a naval aviator. And I’m guessing your universe and this one are… maybe similar? No USNA and papers pulled? But your Ice is alive,” Rooster Three says, pointing at Rooster Eight, who nods.
Jake doesn’t understand why the late Admiral Kazansky is so important to this many Roosters.
“Uh… do you have a column for no-one being dead and no-one in the navy?” Rooster Six asks.
“Pivot points. There have to be pivot points –” Rooster Five is muttering.
“Or timeline splitting points right? My dad dying, my mom dying, then Maverick pulling my papers and then Ice’s cancer and then the mission…”
“Jesus that sounds like an awful universe…” the Rooster behind the bar says, his eyes wide and multiple pairs of eyes swing his way.
                “What?”
“What’s it like in your Universe then?”
“Uh. Well. For a start my parents are both alive. And I have… a big family I guess? And Pete and Tom are also both alive and together.”
“Maverick and Admiral Kazansky? Together?” Jake asks.
“They’re together in my universe as well,” Rooster Three states, and Rooster Five is nodding in agreement and Jake bites his lip, wonders how badly Iceman’s death hurt Rooster or Maverick in this universe if he was so important in all these other ones.

People will be like, “cringe culture is dead” “fuck cringe culture and don’t let anyone bully you for what you like ” and then proceed to make fun of/shit on the following
-Disney Adults(obviously we should be boycotting Disney rn but adults are allowed to like “childish” things along with stories about fairytales and magical wonder)
-Adults who enjoy any type of kids media(unless you’re sexualizing the child characters in the series or shipping the child characters with adults then yeah that’s gross. Also not all bronies/male mlp fans are gross creeps)
-Fangirls or fanboys of any kind
-Minors literally just existing(and yall wonder why kids wanna grow up so fast, because adults/older people are making fun of/complain about them for anything they do)
-Skinny Twink tumblr sexyman character designs and people who are attracted to them
-Skinny twink anime male character designs and people who are attracted to them(or any attractive male or female anime character designs tbh)
-Tumblr sexymen in general
-Anyone’s own headcanon human designs for non human characters you personally don’t find appealing(yes I mean people who make Twink/anime human designs for non human characters too. Although if you’re making a fat character skinny and or whitewashing a non white character then don’t do that)
-Creepypasta
-Anime lovers(yes including the ones who larp as anime characters, Naruto run, owning a death note notebook, ect.)
-Danganronpa(obviously there’s a lot of stuff in Danganronpa that’s not good but most people have this misconception that we are okay with the sexualizing of the minor characters or the Nazi skull thingy on Kokichi’s hat, racism, ect. Most of us don’t like that stuff AT ALL. We just wanna enjoy the story and different characters. People can like something while still criticizing it)
-People who discover music through TikTok
-Female gojo fans/any female who simps for any of the jjk men(I’m literally holding off on trying to catch up on jjk because I don’t wanna be made fun of for liking Toji..as for Sukuna, if you’re gonna simp for him, do it for who he was before he possessed Yuji because Sukuna is currently possessing a 15 year old)
-Character x listener audios(Especially the MHA ones)
-My hero Academia
-Twilight(yes there’s a lot of valid criticisms for the movie and book series but no one should be made fun of for liking them)
-People who enjoy spicy books/fanfiction
-VTubers/PNGtubers
-Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss
-People who like cutecore and or cutegore(kawaiicore/kawaii kei and or gurokawaii)
-People who wear alternative fashion/alternative people in general(yes the “2020 alt kids” and bunny hat alt kids count too along with e-girls)
-People who are into jfashion/kawaii fashion(especially people who wear Lolita and jojifuku. Lolita fashion has nothing to do with the book or for “trying to impress men”nor is it a fetish thing it’s just about wearing poofy frilly dresses and looking cute. As for jojifuku, jojifuku is NOT AN INHERENTLY BAD FASHION IT WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO BE SEXUALIZED AT ALL CREEPS/PEDOS HAVE JUST TAINTED ITS REPUTATION ITS ALSO JUST ABOUT LOOKING CUTE. I’d also like to say that jfashion does count as alternative fashion too)
-People who dress “childish” in general
-Age regression(that’s not supposed to be sexualized either. Age regression is a coping mechanism not a fetish or kink.)
-Furries
-Beginner artists/animators/artists and animators that aren’t beginners but are still learning
-Animation memes
-People who selfship with fictional characters(including men. Men should be allowed to selfship too)
-“Marysue” ocs/characters
-self inserts
-Shoujo romance stories
-Miraculous Ladybug
-Genshin impact(same thing as I said with Danganronpa. You can like something while also criticizing it. As a black person who likes Genshin I hate mihoyo for their racism and colorism but I still enjoy the story and its characters. Also stop making fun of the short male characters’ body types. Y’all wanna preach about body positivity but then make fun of the body types of Xiao, Cyno, Tighnari even though there’s people WHO HAVE THOSE BODY TYPES IN REAL LIFE)
-Anything that seems too happy or too whimsical
-Fnaf
-Gamers
-Poppy Playtime
-People who simp for characters that you personally don’t consider attractive
-Cosplayers(yes even the ones who lipsync to music and do dances/poses)
-BL or GL(it is possible to enjoy these things without fetishizing gay people in the process)
-Anime art styles with big eyes(big eyes has always been a staple in most if not all anime art styles, but I’m more or so talking about the 2000’s anime art style along with Kamichama Karin)
-Yandere characters(most people find comfort in this trope because they wanna feel loved by someone. Most people who like yanderes don’t want an irl stalker)
-Undertale/Deltarune
-Skibidi toilet memes
-Sanrio/Hello Kitty girls
-Steven Universe
-The Amazing Digital Circus
-Marvel fans
-Sonic
-Cookie Run/Cookie Run Kingdom
-LPS and LPS YouTube videos
-People who enjoy kpop or jpop
-Wattpad fanfics/fanfiction in general
-“Wattpad Y/N”
-Y/N
- the concept of a “cringy Y/N”/Comparing characters to that type of Y/N archetype. Just because you don’t see yourself in most “typical Y/N” fics doesn’t mean other people don’t nor is there anything wrong with those types of Y/Ns
If you preach against cringe culture but turn back around and make fun of what I listed above then you’re not actually against cringe culture

Carlisle joins a "J. Platt Fan Club" group on Facebook. on ao3 here.
201—
In his nearly four hundred years Carlisle had seen countless radical earth-altering changes; social media had proved to be the most irksome.
He had once dismissed the new applications as a fad, nothing to worry about; until he went ’mildly-viral’ as Alice put it. An emergency room patient had posted a candid, unauthorized, photo of him on an application called Twitter with the caption “my doctor is hotter than my fever.” It was quickly, miraculously, not at all the result of a bribe, deleted from the internet, only after ten thousand people had “liked” the post.
The incident forced him to move, take a year off from medicine, and have a lengthy conversation with a man and leader he once called a friend. When he did return to the human world it was with precautions, accepting a night shift position that was largely surgical. It was difficult for patients to reveal a centuries-old secret if they were under anesthesia. Every contract he signed included a contingency his photo would not appear on the online staff directory or in any promotional material. For extra precaution he held fake indiscrete social media accounts, using them to track past coworkers and any time non-consensual photos of a “hot” medical professional trended, which was shockingly often.
One random afternoon of monitoring “Facebook” a group popped up under a tab called “Groups You Might Be Interested In,” ‘J. Platt Fan Club.’ He joined the group in an instant.
The group was full of various paintings by J. Platt. Many members posted their — often incorrect and unintelligent — interpretations, others posted photos of their own homes showing how they styled framed prints.
He stopped scrolling after twenty minutes, looked up, and snapped a photo of the painting hanging above his desk. A landscape of a small hunting lodge in Northern Wisconsin set in late Spring.
He posted the photo with the caption, “I have many Platt’s works hanging around my home but this one is my favorite.”
It was risky, someone was bound to realize he was the only one in the group who had ever posted an original, the only one who could afford an original. Yet, he felt the need to brag, especially to the random posters who claimed they were “J. Platt’s biggest fan.”
Before he closed the tab a comment popped up, it was one of the self-proclaimed ‘biggest fans,’ an older man named Chester Allen.
“I haven’t seen this one before are you sure it’s a J. Platt?”
‘Biggest fan.’ Sure.
---------------------------------------
It had been three weeks since he first discovered the online fan club when Esme peeked over his shoulder. She slinked an arm around his neck, resting her chin on top of his head.
“What is this?” She asked, looking at the comment section he had pulled up. His most recent post of three Platt paintings hanging in their hallway had garnered quite a lot of attention, as had most of his posts over the past three weeks highlighting his collection of one specific artist.
“I’ve joined a fan club,” he smiled, tilting his head to look up at her.
“Oh?” She asked, her eyes landing on his face and then immediately scanning down to his tee-shirt. “What is that?”
He laughed, breaking the embrace to show her his shirt. She scrunched her nose. “You do not like my attire?” He asked, wrapping an arm around her waist.
“I do not think it is inconspicuous,” she said in feigned disdain, allowing him to gently pull her to sit in the chair with him, well more on his lap.
“Why ever not? J. Platt is a quite renowned artist,” he smiled, squeezing her side. “Ask the fan club I joined,” he said, closing out of the comment section and pointing to the group title.
“You started a fan club?”
“No, I joined a fan club, and then I bought their graphic tee shirt. I can purchase you one as well if you wish.”
“Wait, an unauthorized group is selling these ugly shirts and profiting from it?”
“I don’t know how much they’re profiting, it was an inexpensive garment.”
“Who owns this group?” She asked, squinting at the screen.
“Es, you are not sending them a cease and desist. They adore you. Look,” he said scrolling to the recent posts. “There’s your work in someone’s nursery,” he tapped on the screen. Her expression softened slightly.
“That wallpaper does coordinate well.”
He smiled to himself and scrolled on, quickly passing his own post.
“Was that our bedroom?”
“No.”
“Carlisle William Cullen.”
“Yes, it was, but I removed the identifying objects before I took the photo.”
“That bedroom has been in Architect Digest.”
“No one reads that,” he grinned. His joke earned him a slight smile that was quickly covered when she remembered she was trying to be irritated at him.
She gently took the mouse from him and started to scroll. She clicked the comments of one of his posts.
“A print?” She scoffed.
“Your originals are valued higher than most of these people’s houses.”
She shrugged and continued scrolling, he rested his chin on her shoulder as she read. “This man says he’s my biggest fan,” she said, elbowing him slightly. His proclivity to jealousy was her favorite button to push.
“Chester,” he said under his breath.
“He’s quite handsome. Don’t you think?”
“He’s sixty-seven, balding, lives in Illinois, and cheated on his past two wives.”
She turned, eyebrows raised. “How do you know that?”
“I’m guessing,” he lied.
“You are ridiculous,” she shook her head fondly. “Is Dr. Jones on this website?”
“Hush,” he said, tightening his arms around her waist. His tone, which she perceived as jealous but was absolutely not, caused her glee. She pressed a kiss to his temple through her laughter.
Eventually, she turned her attention back to the computer screen, reading various posts for a good ten minutes. He was content to sit there, watching her face as she read the hundreds of compliments. Her slight smile turned to scorn as she read through one of Chester’s comments.
“They think I’m a man?” She gasped.
“Oh yes, there are a few who point out ‘J’ could be disguising a woman’s name, but the popular belief is J. Platt is a man.”
She was already off his lap, and walking towards the door.
“Was that not your intention in picking that pseudonym?” He called as she walked down the hall.
“It was, but I thought people nowadays would catch on.”
He smiled to himself and closed the tab, switching over to his email inbox.
“I do want one of those shirts,” Esme said quietly, popping her head back into the doorway.
“Of course, love,” he smiled, knowing hers was sitting in his closet already. “I love you,” he called when he heard her studio door open.
“Not as much as Chester!” She laughed from across the house.

Among them, a familiar acquaintance, a quiet outsider, an old friend, and a new flame . . .

Do you like speculative evolution and/or designing creatures? Are you fascinated by ancient communities on the internet, and/or does the idea of permanently contributing something to one appeal to you? Because if so, dear Tumblr, do I have a recommendation for you.
Tumblr media
Sagan 4 is a really old forum community worldbuilding project--dating back to 2006, having been made in the hype of Spore as basically a way of playing it manually before the game actually came out. Miraculously, the project actually kept going after that--even after Spore came out, it continued on and even gained new members, producing over 5000 unique species made by over 100 contributors over its several hundred million year in-universe history and still going to this day over 16 years later.
And ANYONE can join and submit their own species.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a collaborative project, Sagan 4 has a myriad of species ranging from realistic to frightening to whimsical and made by creators of all skill levels, all of which can be found on the Sagan 4 Wiki. Though it can be a little intimidating for newcomers (and even just readers), I’ve found as someone who only joined 3 years ago that it’s something you learn more about as you go along--I’m still discovering new things even after contributing well over 100 species, and not even veteran members know everything about what the project contains.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even if you are not an artist, Sagan 4 might still interest you if you enjoy reading worldbuilding or, perhaps even more so, if you have an interest in old forum communities and lost media--because boy does Sagan 4 have some community history and even a little bit of ancient drama, much of which is lost or fragmented.
If Sagan 4 interests you, here are the links:

Anakin and Lovisa layed in the grass, watching the clouds, neither one had spoke, in a while, just enjoying each other’s company, but that’s when a thought had entered the Princess’s mind.
"When this threat is over, and I go back to the palace, will I see you again?" She asked him.
"Why? Trying to get rid of me, already?" He turned his head to look at her, the corner of his mouth raising.
"Perhaps." She played along, as her own lips turned upwards.
"Oh! You wound me princess!" He pretended to stab his heart, as he rolled away from her, dramatically.
"Hey!" She laughed, rolling after him, but as she got close enough, he had pulled her on top of him. "You're an idiot." She slapped his chest.
"And you look wonderful, from this angle." His hands moved to hold her back, and her waist.
"Only this angle?" She asked, teasingly, as she moved to sit on top of him more comfortably.
"M'lady, you look phenomenal, no matter the angle, the time of day, or the setting, but particularly right here, may be one of my favourite times to see you."
"I grow more and more confused, everytime you open your mouth, wondering how on earth you became a Jedi, when you could be writing poetry."
"Well, princess, I have many talents." He smirked.
"Oh, really? Well, enlighten me." She pushed. Lovisa had the deepest urge to know every single thing about this man, as her hands rested beside his head, keeping her up and looking at his perfect face.
"I can fix things, and I build stuff, very talented with my hands." He squeezed her waist, as he said this, and she could swear his eyes even lit up, as she blushed. "And I'm a damn good Jedi, it's disappointing you've never seen me in combat, then I know you would never be able to resist me."
"You're awfully full of yourself." She chuckled.
"No, your highness, just confident."
"Ani, stop with the titles." She rolled her eyes.
"I'm sorry, Lovisa, but I'm rather nervous, having the kings daughter on top of me, right now, y'know, if anyone was to discover us, right now, I'd probably be hung."
Lovisa looked around the vast land of space, not a person was in sight.
"Well, then I guess it's a good thing that nobody is around, then."
"Oh, my, you are truly scandalous, what would people say?" He gasped.
Lovisa laughed at his dramatic tendencies, before kissing him, softly, she needed another fix, too many hours had passed since last night, and he was just too intoxicating to resist, it was almost insufferable.
Anakin's eyes fluttered shut instantly, as he followed her movements, taking everything in, memorising it.
"See, you couldn't even last a day, I knew you found me attractive." His eyes were still closed, as his head fell back down, in the grass.
"You're lucky, that's all you've got going for you." She lied.
Anakin then rolled over, so that he was now on top of her.
"Admit it, you find me irresistible, and charming, you think I'm extremely funny."
"Oh yes, the funniest thing you do, is when you don't even mean to, when you think you're being taken seriously, that is hilarious." She rolled him over again, so she was back on top.
"That's it." He pulled her against him, and they ended up rolling down the hill, laughing loudly, until eventually they came to a stop, and miraculously, Lovisa was still on top.
She kissed him again, and she didn't pull away anytime soon, and neither had he.
His hand moved from her back, to intertwine in her hair, keeping her head close to his.
As the days in their solitude went on, Lovisa and Anakin often spent their days together, whether it be layed in the grass, his head in her lap, as she read aloud to him, or he'd watch as she painted the beautiful sight of the lake district, which he was elated to discover that she was a phenomenal artist.
But Lovisa kicked herself, when she realised that Anakin had been right, because watching him practise with his sword, had her thoughts whirring so much, that she couldn't even make sense of what they were.
She found that she couldn't even keep her eyes off him for a second, she even forgot to blink, until her eyes were tearing up, and stinging.
And he hadn't even noticed, not at all, he was too deeply rooted into his movements.
She was starting to wish she had been a Jedi, just to watch him at this all day, everyday.
When he had finally put it down, he didn't have a second to even move, before she pounced on him, kissing him hard and desperately, and of course he was quick enough to catch her, and meeting her needs.
They had also spent their time, sneaking around the castle, from her sister, and the staff, making out in dark hallways, refusing to get caught, but not being able to resist the temptation.
A small inkling in Anakin's mind made him think that's what was fuelling the fire in their intimacy, the thrill of them getting caught was what made it even more exciting, for Lovisa, but he pushed it away, instead telling himself, that she really did like him, and her title and his job was just an obstacle in their happiness.
Twelve days had passed, when the two walked into the dining room, for dinner, Padme and Senator Rush Clovis were sat at the table, their handmaidens were where they were normally supposed to be, stood at the wall, waiting to be needed.
"Hello, Lovisa" Rush smiled at her. "And you must be the Jedi, looking after our beloved Princesses."
"I am, sir, senator, my name is Anakin, Anakin Skywalker." He introduced himself.
"What is he doing here?" Lovisa asked Padme, staring at the man.
Anakin subtly guided the girl to the table, and he sat down beside her, but made sure to keep his distance, like they normally did, around people.
"Rush was kind enough, to come see me." Padme told her, a warning in her eyes. "We just missed each other,
terribly."
"Its barely been a week." Lovisa pointed out, bluntly.
"Lovey, its nearly been two weeks."
"No, it hasn't." She shook her head.
"Yes, it has." She laughed, unsurely.
"Well, why did he come, why not Mother and Father?"
"Can you not be so quizzical, and just be happy for me?" She almost begged her little sister.
"You know, Lovey, I actually have a friend, that asks about you, often, He's also an senator, I would love to set the both of you up, with your parents permission, of course." Rush spoke to her, a smile on his lips.
Lovisa could feel the jealousy rolling off of Anakin, wow, he must be really serious about me, she thought.
She picked up her glass of strawberry milk, and sipped it, slowly, until eventually, she was just sucking air through her straw, making that god awful noise.
"It's all gone." Padme told her.
Reluctantly, she set it down.
"Rush, that will not be necessary, I have no interest in associating myself with anyone who has the power to fix issues that they act ignorant to, I have no desire to date, either." She told him, bluntly.
His face dropped.
Anakin wanted to impale himself on his own sword, when he had mistakenly made eye contact with Lovisa's sister, who had instantly darted to look at him.
She knows His head screamed at him. No, she doesn't, calm down, It also said.
"May I ask again, why are you here?" Lovisa asked "Senator Rush Clovis?" She made a point to call him by his full name, a reminder to him, to use hers, only people she cared for, got to shorten her name. Not even Anakin had called her that, yet, and she had his tongue in her mouth, more times than she’s ever even spoken to Rush.
"Well, Princess, I actually had something I wanted to ask your sister." He nervously looked around, as he scratched the back of his head. "If we could have some privacy" He looked to Anakin.
"The Jedi stays." Lovisa decided. "He is here for our protection, you know, someone is out there, after the both of us"
"Yes, well, I doubt anyone is going to attack you in here" He teased. "It is only I, and I can assure you, that you are safe with me."
"I haven't ruled you out, yet."
Padme continued to glower at her sister.
"So, whatever you have to say in front of me, you can say in front of my Jedi."
"My Jedi" Anakin's inner voice screamed.
"Very well." He cleared his throat. "Padme, my love" Rush then pushed out of his chair, as he stood in front of the oldest Amidala sister, taking her hands in his, then he dropped to one knee.
Lovisa's eyes bulged out of her head, as she watched what he was doing, he was taking her sister away from her.
"Will you make me the happiest man on the planet, and marry me?" Rush asked, opening a small box, containing a ring.
Lovisa hated that it was beautiful.
"Say no, say no, say no, say no, say no, say no!" She chanted, mentally.
"Oh, Rush!" Padme gushed. "Of course I'll marry you." She kissed him.
"Ahem!" Lovisa coughed, loudly, forcing them to pull apart. "Not only have you ruined my appetite. But you also leave me with a question."
"Which is?" Padme asked, annoyed that her younger sister was ruining her big moment.
"How are you supposed to get married, if you're to become queen, and you're a Senator? I'm pretty sure that's not allowed" She knew full well it wasn't allowed. “Are you planning on quitting your position?” She turned to the man.
"Funnily enough, we've discussed this." Padme replied. “With Mother and Father.”
"You have?" She furrowed her brows.
"Yes, and I decided that ..." She grabbed Rushes hand, as she took in a deep breaths. "I'm giving up my heritage to the throne, instead, I've also been offered a seat, as a Senator, so that I can still be involved in Naboo, Father offered me it."
"What?" Lovisa gasped. "But, Padme! You're next in line! If you're not to be queen, then who will?! It won't be in our family anymore, what will happen to the Kingdom, You're throwing your whole future away for what?! Some guy?! Being in love?! Why the hell would you even think about throwing your life away for a man?!”
"Lovey, The crown will still be in our family, because you will reign." Padme reminded her, "I'm passing over the job of being the heir, to you."
"No!" Lovisa stood up. "How could you do this, without even consulting me! I'm not fit to be queen! That is not my role. You were born for it, conditioned for it, I can't take your place."
"Well, you have to." Padme shrugged. “Father agreed, he’s already decided.”
"How long has this been planned?!”
“A while.” She answered, casually.
“What?!” She threw her hands up in the air. “You all knew, and no one told me?! Why would no one tell me?! This is unfair!”
“Because Mother knew this was how you would react, Father was planning to do it, but, I didn’t exactly know I was being proposed to, honestly Lovey, you are ruining my big moment, you’re being rather selfish.” Padme folded her arms across her chest.
They both had forgotten they were not alone, until now.
“I can't be queen, I've made too many mistakes in my life."
"Lovisa, You're 19." Padme rolled her eyes.
"I don't need judgement from you." She scowled, standing from the table. "Ani, Ahsoka."
"Yes, your highness." They both said, at the same time, following after her, each earning a glare from the girl, as they side eyed each other.

Greetings to the 30 million "Channel 5" viewers nationwide, it's finally here! I can't wait to see how Ulala, who has crossed the century, will come back!
Popular characters from the previous show, as well as new characters, will appear one after another! They will make the program even more exciting!
The basic rules seem to be the same, but new elements have been added, such as singing and playing! I have a hunch that it will be fun!
The next enemy is the "Dancing Troupe(Rhythm Rouges)"! ?
The next enemy is the "Dancing Troupe(Rhythm Rouges)" who appeared out of nowhere. Innocent people are made to dance one after another, just like the Morolians last time! Their purpose is completely unknown. Ulala will report on their true identity!
The mysterious dance group "Dancing Troupe (Rhythm Rouges)" has arrived! A person who looks like a captain and robots attack people one after another!
(Page 67)
What happened to the Jaguar! ?
An evil hand approaches Jaguar who has discovered something somewhere in the universe...! ! Meanwhile, the "Space Symphony," a ship cruising around Neo-Pluto, is attacked by a mysterious group! "Space Channel 5" quickly caught the information and sent Ulala to the scene to report the incident. The spirit of Director Fuse enters. "Come on, let's start!!"
I'll charm you, Ulala Seven Changes
This time Ulala will be reporting in even cuter and cooler outfit! There will be a "Ulala's Costume Room," so stay tuned!
ULALA
A reporter for Space Channel 5, she was born on May 30 and her blood type is B. The other day, she tried to save the galaxy  with great energy, but she's still a newcomer and spends her days being yelled at by her boss Fuse. Her goal is to become a galactic reporter. She is the only person who can fight back against the "mysterious dancing group" that has appeared.
Prologue
The time is the 25th century.
The "Morolian" suddenly invaded, causing people to dance one after another with their "Dancing Beam"! The space broadcasting station "Space Channel 5", which caught this catastrophe, dispatched a new reporter "Ulala" who is good at dancing, selected by the director "Fuse", and report the incident. She fully opens her mysterious dancing puff, sometimes fights and cooperates with Channel 42's "Pudding" and the Space Pirate Broadcasting Station's "Jaguar" to uncover the true nature of the evil that hides behind the Morolians' intentions. Thus, this ascension case was resolved.........
In this galaxy where the memory is fresh in our minds, a new evil is rising.......
Although "Ulala" had solved the "Morolians Attack Case" by dancing with her miraculous performance, there was no change in her role as a reporter, and she is cheered on by a director "Fuse" every day.
Such a daily life suddenly changes with a report from "Chief Space Michael ". A "mysterious dancing group" has appeared, making people dance and taking them away one after another!
Now, Ulala's dancing report begins again.
Come on, Let's start!
SPACE CHANNEL 5 Part 2 - First Implession!
A little impression of the sample unveiled at the recent PS Party! The game is very busy with more things to do such as singing and playing, not to mention the increased power of the graphics and presentation. Compared to the previous game, which was a bit monotonous, this one is even more fun. The storyline is also very exciting!

🩹,💗,❗️?
Good day, dear anonymous!
🩹 - healing vore:
I think it's very interesting concept which has a kinda joint base with comfort vore but still stands out of other vore scenarios as a unique thing. There is a mix of two directly opposite actions: sending someone inside your stomach and... healing their wounds with this! Using such unusual combination, artists get an endless amount of angsty and comforting scenarios - and also a great push of their imagination limits: their characters can possess anatomical features no one ever thought of before. As for the action itself, it's just very good for a pred to know that they won't ever feel lost or helpless in case their prey friend get into trouble which can lead to the latter being badly injured. The prey feels safer too when knowing their big pal is around... Sensations are pretty enjoyable as well: the feeling of your ache being instantly eased by the miraculous liquids, combined with a soothing vibe of the cozy stomach massaging you is unspeakably beautiful...
So, I definitely love such way of healing!
💗- the most favourite trope:
Well... I suppose: a gentle pred/ a kind and submissive prey. If there are these two, I will love any scenario from safe to fatal. Although, there is one I love the most:
Safe vore/reformation:
A prey comes home after a really rough day; the pred sees it, however, their little friend doesn't admit it. Instead, they just head to their room and start working again - or go to the kitchen, seeking for something to eat... Meanwhile, they big partner watches them silently for some time. The pred hasn't dined yet. But they know perfectly what they want for a snack right now - so, the big guy grabs the shorter one in a nice, tight embrace, saying the prey they were going to dive right in without any delay. The latter tries to protest at first, but quite soon they submit to the gentle cooing and warmth of the pred's hug: the little one sleepily thanks their partner and, finally, gets swallowed up; settling in the warm belly, they gladly sense their sore body relaxing and their mind clearing as tender walls move around them, the gurgling mixing with the pred's calm breath and heartbeat and creating a comforting symphony of natural peace which helps the prey to doze off. The pred feeling good for their friend and for themselves smiles and rubs their visibly rounded stomach which is lovingly churning over its favourite meal...
❗- discovering vore:
I'd say it has been a long way. I remember when I was four me and my father often played a game: he was a monster and I was its prey who had to avoid being eaten. Of course, everything was just for fun: we messed around a lot, giggling and encouraging each other; he often wrapped himself up in a large blanked to seem bigger and "scarier" and then "attacked" me in the darkness with a "monstrous roar". Usually, everything ended up with him "devouring" me which he always loudly announced while I was still laughing after a great session of tickles. I think, that's how the fun began...
The older I got, the more I felt that something strange was going on with me. I was fascinated with snakes who could swallow their victims whole. Sometimes my grandma asked me to read aloud some fairytales - but if it was Red Riding hood, I couldn't help but lowered my voice as it was coming to the "tense part" because I felt quite uncomfortable about it. Especially, because I saw that exact scene in a way I wasn't able to really understand.
But all I knew was that I liked it. It was just... special.
There were other things too; but it is too much to tell. If shortly, there were thoughts. They came to me periodically; and when they did, I sank in them for an hour or two. Then I was trying to imagine myself as both a pred and a prey - and what it should feel like to be one or another.
Once I decided to search in the Internet for something that could satisfy my needs... And there it was. Vore.
I won't lie if I say that I was scared at first due to my mind, basically, connected vore with cannibalism (the mistake many people make when they come across it for the first time)... I literally suffered after I figured out it was I seeked for. Consequently, I tried to block this part of my nature by completely denying it. But things were getting only worse: I couldn't concentrate on my usual businesses, I felt terrible, I was reading and watching EVERYTHING vore-related, even if I didn't like it at all - but I just had to ease the painful pangs attacking my brain. So, after some time, I gave up. I thought it was the best option because that way at least I wouldn't go crazy about the things and I would be able to go around my day without uncontrollable "hunger" I had for vore. That's what saved me.
Slowly, I understood that I wasn't bad or weird. I was simply built like that - like many other nice people, and there was nothing in vore that would really mean harm to anyone. My mom who was aware about my problems supported me as much as she could - and she accepted my interests without any negative words about it. After giving myself freedom, I could study and filter the information I was consuming and, finally, I discovered what I TRULY liked. I calmed down at last. That's when the blog was started which turned out to be the finishing dot in the book of my struggles.
Now, I'm into vore from the bottom of my heart - and I'm not ashamed of that! As many say, it's OK to be different since there is no threat to others. Our features are what make us - us. It's the truth we should never forget about.

Born on 19 April, 1942, Bastiaan Johan Christiaan “Bas Jan” Ader was a Dutch artist and filmmaker. Moving to Los Angeles, California, Ader focused on career and produced a number of short films, including “I’m to sad to tell you” which consisted of a 3-minute video of him crying. Another film consisted of him sitting on a chair on a roof when he suddenly falls off.
His final performance was called “In Search of Miraculous” in which he had a choir sing sea shanties at his Los Angeles studio. For this performance, he had planned to sail in a 13 ft pocket cruiser from Cape Cod, Massachusetts to Falmouth, Cornwall. However, he never made it. After three weeks at sea, his radio contact failed. It wasn’t until ten months later that his abandoned boat was discovered over the coast of Ireland. Ader was not on board and his body was never found.
Many believe that Ader had taken his own life as part of his final performance.

A Fond Farewell to Act 1
Tumblr media
After dithering about a fashion faux pas most unfortunate, and with nothing else to do on all of the maps, it is finally time for me to bid a fond farewell to Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3, and via the Mountain Pass head into the uncertain transition stage to Act 2 (and presumably the consequences of my actions).
But before I go. A moment. To reflect on my favorite memories in this journey so far:
Alfira’s song and The Harpy Rock Concert
Aravyn chickening out of lying to an evil mirror, Astarion shoving her aside to show her how its done, only to fail so spectacularly on every single conversation check the mirror spits out a giant orb of molten death that starts chasing us around the room spewing deadly AOEs as I loudly scream “OH NO OH NO OH NO OH NO WHY CANT WE TARGET IT OH NO” and the entire party flees for their life, nearly locking Astarion in the cellar with the death orb he summoned
The Glitterbomb/Musical Mini-Heist
Best Quasit Girl
Ari seeing giant claw marks a dragon very obviously gouged into stone, failing her intelligence check, and then proudly declaring it the artistic statement of some mysterious person
Gale nearly dying from a concussion because I decided to put off taking a long rest and instead do a little lute concert tour around the Druid Grove, and one NPC loved it so much he enthusiastically hurled his tip of a single gold piece in the direction of my singing paladin — and straight into Gale’s skull and taking off 6 of his precious few remaining HP
Discovering the mighty cow summon spells
Operation War Drum
My dumbass Paladin talking to Minthara, and winning every single persuasion check, so that she entered into a conversation to very earnestly insist that this random forest is where the secret Druid Grove is, and have Minthara scream in frustration that they already checked there and to go FIND IT, only for us to return five seconds later and say that we totes got the real location this time and point to the same spot on the map. About five time in a row.
Halsin getting the whole party stuck in eternal combat for no other reason than he was a bear, and apparently the game took that personally
That time Astarion gleefully informed Aravyn she was unfuckable, only for a full 24 hours later to decide that he was actually jealous that she considered Gale prettier than him (but also approved of this??), and basically yelled out “CHALLENGE ACCEPTED” before flouncing off
The entirety of the Auntie Ethel adventure freaking me (the player) out so much I, the notorious loot goblin, refused to touch ANY food or beverage in the entire cursed swamp even after finishing all of the quests and clearing the area
Nearly blowing up a dwarf trapped in a field of flammable mushrooms, and somehow both he and the valuable quest item miraculously survived. Only for my dumbass Paladin to eat the quest item mid-battle for no reason at all, and me not realizing until twenty hours of gameplay in that I’ve doomed the dwarf and his unpleasant wife to a life of destitution and also preventing one of my companions from regaining precious lost memories.
Getting a TPK several times in a row from the giant landshark in the Underdark, before finally beating it with actual tactical smarts. Only to revive it with a temporary NPC ally as a spawn so it could help us in fights because we are smart and tactical now. And then forgetting to dismiss it after the temporary NPC ally turned against us, only to return to the same area several hours later where we once again nearly died to the now undead manifestation of our hubris
Smiling and waving at whoever is on the end of those scrying eyes like we’re in some sort of beauty pageant
100 Foot Sharran Walkway of Doom
Rolling a nat 1 on a wisdom save after picking up a cursed locket
Robo-Hugs
I will never forget you Act 1. We laughed. We cried. Made many poor life decisions that I’m sure are going to come back and bite me in the ass very soon. But for now, we must march onwards into the unknown, where I’m sure Ari and the Tadfools will probably almost blow up the multiverse or something, at the rate they’re going.

Why did you switch from animation to reviews? Also, do you still plan on doing CGI like you mentioned multiple times?
oH BOY..... you may need to sit down for this one
So it all started back in 2012. I was around 14 years old and just saw Rise of the Guardians and Wreck it Ralph. The stories, the characters, the world-building, the animation... now I never really went to movie theaters as a kid, but as a teen I started going and I instantly fell in love.
I went to community college for a few years and made some amazing friends. Loved some of my teachers and we participated in fun events like the 24-hour challenge and Campus Movie Fest. I had gotten in the top picks for Campus Movie Fest at some point and was supposed to go to the Cannes Film Festival in France to showcase my short film, but then the pandemic hit and it got canceled indefinitely.
So get this, for community college, I got a certification in 3D Animation and Video Game development. It's basically an AA degree but without general ed. (Why do you need general ed to get a degree in something? Math and PE have nothing to do with Animation. College is ridiculous. People have to pay you more simply because you were forced to spend more money in college. Wild.) Out of the 20 classes I had taken to get this certification, only 3 of those courses were hands-on 3D animation. And only one of those courses was hands-on video game development and I dropped out of that class because it was PC only and I only had a Mac at the time. I applied to the class without realizing it was accommodating only to PCs. So even my certification is barely reaching the basics for the title of it, but I did take another online course or two for 3D animation which I have a different certification for.
Now even with my 3D animation, I was never taught the physics engine. I was never taught hair or cloth simulation, but I do have modeling, rigging, animating, and texturing experience. For gaming, I have very little experience. I've only modeled things and found my way around Unity, but otherwise, I suck at coding. I hate coding with a passion. Making a video game without coding isn't really possible.
Now, when the pandemic hit, a lot of things were shutting down. I had no idea where I wanted to go next. People kept asking me where I was going for my higher education, but I kept getting warned not to waste money on college if you're trying to become an artist, especially at University. It's a money pit, and competition is so high, you're not guaranteed a job, you're just gonna be in debt. Even colleges like Cal Arts, who charge over $1K per class, I've been told are a "Pay to get in" kind of place. Where the money is used to nab professionals from their work to teach students or talk about their company or programs, and through that, you get a bigger chance to get your foot in the door because you know someone. I've unfortunately been told that's the more realistic way to get into animation: networking. If you're a shy introvert who doesn't know any famous people, you need to be extremely talented and unique to stand out to get the chance of being noticed. I don't really want to suck up to people nor do I want to waste thousands of dollars and 5 more years on college that I may not even need (let alone be able to afford) especially if there are online classes that may be even more valuable.
Now after I got out of college and started applying a few places, I discovered a LOT of unfortunate information.
Most animation these days is done overseas. South Korea, India, Japan, and Canada are the big ones.
Invader Zim, Steven Universe, Miraculous Ladybug, The Simpsons, OK KO, Star vs the Forces of Evil, Kipo and the Age of the Wonder Beasts, Adventure Time, Twelve Forever, and the Powerpuff Girls Reboot were animated in South Korea. The Ghost and Molly Mcgee is animated in Canada.
(The first four seasons of the Simpsons were animated in America until it switched to South Korea and India.)
2D traditional animation is no longer viable. Puppetry is the industry standard because it's the cheapest. Luckily, Toon Boom Harmony has allowed us to push the boundaries of 2D puppetry. Puppetry these days, if done well, can look really great, like Tangled the Series, but if you don't have Toon Boom Harmony, you're probably not gonna be hired.
Tumblr media
Not even all 3D is made in the USA. If it's Disney, Dreamworks, or Pixar, then it's usually USA. But streaming service movies, like Sea Beast, Kid Cosmic, The Willoughbys, and Klaus, while they claim to be a "Netflix Original" that "Netflix Animation" animated, that's a lie. Klaus was animated by Yowza! Animation in Canada. The Willoughbys: Bron Animation, Canada. Kid Cosmic: Mercury Filmworks, Canada. Sea Beast: Sony Pictures Image Works, Canada. (X)
Go Go Cory Carson is written and storyboarded in America, but the animation is shipped out to be done in France. Sonic Boom is also French Animated.
Even Sony Pictures? Open Season, Surf's Up, Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, SMurfs, Hotel Transylvania, Over the Moon, The Angry Birds Movie, Sea Beast? Sony Pictures Imageworks is based in Canada. They're doing all the animation for them. It's not animated in America, it's merely funded by them.
I should also clarify: I only want to participate in stylized animated media. I don't want to do CGI for hyper-realistic films, which eliminates most of the animation jobs out there these days. It's just not my thing. The insane amount of details and uncanny valley are just so unappealing, I can't do it.
The closest animation studios are still far away. Most companies are located in LA. I'm over 7+ hours away from there. LA also has a high poverty rate, terrible air quality, is overcrowded, and is just generally not a good place to live, especially if you're low middle class. You're not gonna survive there.
Pixar is located in Emeryville, a few minutes north of San Fransisco city. Emeryville is the most crime-ridden city in that area. They tell you not to walk home alone at night. You're more likely to get robbed there than anywhere else according to the population ratio there. There are a lot of gangs that hide up there, and there's a lot of poverty there, even outside of San Fransisco. It's basically a trash pit. Not an ideal place to live, and commuting through 3-hour SF city traffic is also not gonna work. (X)
I have also been informed some people who work at Pixar are petty that the interns use their facility. Pixar has a heated pool, soccer field, gymnasium, and a few other nice things on their property. I was informed there was a person or two who got mad that an intern was using their basketball court.... when the intern was on break. As though they weren't part of Pixar, as though they had no right to touch the property. Apparently, they also used to make the interns push around little tea carts to serve refreshments as a way to "talk to the fellow animators" to probably get them interacting, but hearing that the interns were basically chored with butler duty to bother the animators hard at work seems like such a forced thing. That makes me uncomfortable. Of course, the person who told me these stories has been working with Pixar for over a decade or two now, so things could be very different as the years went on. Pixar itself on the inside of the animator building is gorgeous. They all decorate their office spaces in crazy ways, it looks like a movie set. But they have a bar and "whiskey club". They're apparently allowed to drink at work and have often had parties that got a little out of hand. There's also an old chain smoker room where the founders used to play poker and spy on people outside of their room with hidden cameras; I've even been inside. I don't think they use it anymore, though I'm not totally sure. Some of this info was fascinating, but the drinking made me uncomfortable. I kinda want to work with sober people here.
The sex ratio in the animation industry is also interesting and unfavorable. 70% of the animation and art school ratio is women, but only 34% of the actual animation workforce is women. 34% female to 66% male. More women study animation than men, but more men get hired and hold positions than women. Animation, ironically, has always been a male-dominated workplace. This unfortunately contributes to the "you have to know someone" or "be rich" to get-in situation. Men know a lot more men and not as many women. So the 30 to 40-year-old guys hire the other guys they know rather than a young poor girl with a passion. This makes it even more difficult for me to get in. (X)
Tumblr media
20th Century, Netflix Animation, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Bento Box, Vanguard Animation, Universal Studios, Titmouse, 6 Point Harness, ShadowMachine- all LA / South California.
There are a few places I could apply to, but what they do, I just don't care for. Niantic(Pokemon Go), Lucasfilm(Effects), Whiteboard Animation(Marketing), Sharpeyeanimation (Marketing), EA games (Mass Effect, Battlefield, Dragon Age 2, all those hyper-realistic war, sports, or fantasy games.)
So whether it's outside of the USA or within the USA, I need to move. I don't have the money for that yet.
Just find a company that does remote work, right? It should be easy, especially in pandemic times! Wrong. Most animation companies don't permit remote work. It's probably a security issue. But I've done research on this. The only big animation company I've found (so far) that allows remote work (or is HIRING for remote work) is Mainframe Studios in Canada. They have a 3D animation job list, and I guess they focus on animating Barbie movies(???). (X) But that's about it. And even if you're a remote worker, there's a high likely hood you still need a Visa to be allowed to work for a company belonging to another country. So that's a whole other legal process to deal with.
Disney is becoming a huge corporate monopoly over American animation. They bought Blue Sky only to kill them off. (Disney also just recently laid off 7,000 people due to their stock price drop and failed movies they released the past year with deliberately bad marketing for political reasons. (X) Disney also bought Pixar and is pushing for sequels because weird or bad, sequels and terrible live actions make them a LOT of money. Did you know Disney's terrible Lion King CGI remake is amongst the top 10 highest-grossing movies ever made? It's criminal. (X)
Because Disney is such a big name in the USA, there's a huge association of animation = children's media, which is not true. Animation at the Oscars also has its own category, when it's not a genre, is a medium. Disney often wins at the Oscars too because no one sees the other animations. Granted, Disney has an insane marketing budget in comparison, but it's clear no one cares to seek out animation outside of heavy CGI live-action these days. No small-time studios, no limited releases, no anime. The fact that Disney also now OWNS the Oscars is SUS as hell. (The fact that Disney-owned ABC threatened the Oscars, forcing them to cut 8 categories or else there wouldn't be a show that year is wild. There isn't even an oscar for stuntmen. What the fuck, Hollywood?) (X)
Dreamworks nearly went bankrupt and sold itself to Comcast back in 2013. Comcast also owns Illumination. Dreamworks has been focusing on making bad tv show adaptions of their IPs. So yes people, Jack would sooner meet the Minions than meet Elsa. Disney is the biggest corporate monopoly, but it's definitely not the only one. The animation industry in America is snuffing out its competition by buying it out for itself. It's insane the kind of power they have.
Competition is HIGH. Because of this, the only ways to get in? If you're rich or you know someone. Pixar gets over 3,000 intern applications every summer. Less than 100 are seen by actual hiring managers. The most interns Pixar has ever taken in a single year were 12. The least they ever took in a single year was two. A 12 to 3,000 ratio is not favorable. That's a 3% chance to get into a big-shot animation company.
And again, because remote work isn't permissible to new hires, you need to live in the area to commute to the campuses. This is one of the reasons why LA is so crowded.
If you get into an animation company purely remote and maybe even for a different country? You are the luckiest person alive.
Programs are expensive. The animation industry is very strict on what programs they use. The industry standard for 2D puppetry is Toon Boom Harmony; the industry standard for 3D animation is Maya, and the industry standard for video game development isn't as clear but Unity is one of them.
Some of these programs are free, as long as you are a student. If you are attending college or a certain online program, you can use your school-issued email through them to apply to get the program for free for about a year. Otherwise, if you're using it to make your own animations solo?
Autodesk Maya: $225 a month or $1,785 a year (X)
and guess what? Maya removed its free render service. Arnold is now built in by default, however, if you want to BATCH render (Meaning render a full scene or several slides) it will slap it's ugly watermark over it.
Tumblr media
Fun fact, this very rendered watermark can be seen accidentally in a single frame for the Kingdom Hearts Frozen cutscene
Tumblr media
Well, you need to batch render if you're trying to animate so let's see what Arnold costs- $50 monthly to $380 annually.... are you kidding me?! The rendering PLUG-IN BUNDLED TO MAYA COSTS MORE TO USE THAN THE OWN PROGRAM?! (X)
Now, there are other rendering plug-ins you can probably use with Maya. But they all have their ups and downs and their own costs as well. (X) Pixar's Renderman is $595 per license. I can't seem to get info on Octane. V-ray solo is $39 monthly while premium is around $60 monthly.
Now there IS Blender, an alternative to Maya. It is free and I have it. That is ideal to work in for people like me. I tried it a while back, but I hated the interface windows. It was hard to work on it when you can't close them properly. It's possible they've fixed this in an update, but I haven't touched the program in over three years so I wouldn't know. It's different from Maya a little, so it has ups and downs in comparison too. But Blender is a savior to 3D artists everywhere.
Toon Boom Harmony isn't as bad but still high: Lowest price is $27 monthly / $220 annual and the highest is $124 monthly / $1,100 annual (X)
Unity has a basic version that is free, but Unity Plus is $399 yearly while Unity Pro is $2,040 (X)
So some programs are clearly more viable than others. But imagine you're trying to model, texture, rig, animate, simulate, and render a short film all by yourself in Maya. That's gonna take you over a year or two, and you'll have several thousand dollars out of your pocket by the time your free trial ends. And might I say, for an industry-standard program, Maya sucks. It's almost unusable without those plug-ins for not only rendering but also for the models to even be able to SELECT their BONE rigs.
Do you want to practice on your own when school is out of session? Fuck you! Fuck subscription services! Welcome to capitalist hell, baby!
Again, using Blender is more viable, but you're still going to be basically doing everything yourself. That's gonna take years. Do you have the patience for that? Do I?
Because of the pandemic, movies aren't even hitting theaters anymore. They're going straight to streaming services. Streaming services of which, gain sole rights to and can take media off their platforms at any time without warning. Thanks, Discovery+ ! Does everyone remember the HBO Max Animation & DC purge? It could happen to other streaming services too. Piracy will save the future of animation at this point. (X)
And again, Streaming services like Netflix will purchase films and claim they made them by slapping their logo over it; but no, they either bought the distribution rights or produced them through funding and maybe storyboarding. Often times from a Canadian film studio. (Link again X)
Even stop motion companies like LAIKA are losing money and may have to shut down or be bought out in the future, especially considering how much work and money they put into their films vs. how much money they actually make. (X)
All of this? Naturally made me fall into a depression. My god, the layers of hopelessness. My animation and modeling is pretty average too. I'm decent. I can maybe make a good shot. But I can't blow people away like James Baxter can. I mean, I shouldn't compare myself to people. If I worked really hard, maybe I could get into a good company. But again, I have to move! A part of me gave up. I don't really do 3D animation anymore, though part of me misses it.
I still 2D animate. I'm trying to make a short film and though my college friends who were working on it with me have given up, I have done my best to keep going. Even if it has been produced at a snail's pace for the past three years, I still intend to finish this animation. It's gonna be beautiful when it comes out, and it will be a wonderful portfolio piece regardless.
So with nothing else to do and no other kind of job experience really under my belt(plus my family is prone to covid so getting a job in the pandemic was just kind of out of the question) I decided to go to youtube. I heard some people can make a little money on there, but the truth is I had actually wanted to become a youtuber for a few years prior. I've always looked up to animators and reviewers on youtube, I've loved the stories they tell and their incredibly detailed analysis essays on movies, tv series, books, etc. I wanted to be one of them. I wasn't sure exactly what I'd do, so I just followed the Youtube Partnership program set up which took a few months, and then jumped in! I found I only had the time to upload once every month or two. I had a ton of audio issues and I'm not outputting at the proper 1920 x 1080 quality that I should be doing either. It's a huge learning process that I still haven't perfected, but I'm taking notes to try and get better.
Even though Youtube is fun, I only make $300 a month, and that isn't even consistent. With patreon, I make maybe another $80 or $100 on top of that, so overall $400 a month average. That's really nice and pretty cool! But it's not enough to survive.
Now I work part-time at a coffee shop. My mental health is a lot better and I love my coworkers. I make roughly $400 a week in comparison to the $400 a month. It's still not enough to live off of (the cheapest rent around is over $1,000 a month, not ) and it's still a temporary job in the long run. I intend to work here for maybe another two years to save up money.
But what do I do now?
Am I welcome in animation spaces anymore?
As a critic of popular media, it could be likely that they could fire me or deny my application because of my critique of their past films or tv series. They could see my youtube persona and assume I'm a raging untrustworthy nitpick instead of a passionate, kind person.
Vivziepop's Spindlehorse company? What Viv was doing was a dream. I was so inspired by her. She made her own company, made a super successful pilot, and was even creating more jobs for traditional, high-quality animation. However, for Hazbin Hotel, she required more funding, which is why she sold it off to A24, who now has corporate say in the show. A24 is known for letting creators be more lenient, but otherwise, Viv won't have full control over it anymore unless she managed to get them to sign something over to her; but with the rumors of her being kicked off season 1? I don't know anymore.
Her own company Spindlehorse; they rely on youtube revenue and/or merch sales to fund Helluva Boss. That's a tricky business practice, but it's kept them afloat so far.
However, Spindlehorse is hiring a lot of people as of late. This could be a bad sign; that people might be leaving the company due to potential mistreatment or unhappiness. With the way the show is going, I don't really want to be part of that company regardless, but maybe before season 2 of Helluva Boss, I would have considered applying. Had I made any critique videos prior, there's no way they'd accept me. "Aren't you that one YouTuber that said my writing is bad for season 2 episode 2?" And you expect me to hire you?" Like yeah, that application process would go down well. Not. By critiquing artists' work, some of them are very sensitive. I'd be kicked out for a lot of things, when really, we artists should be critiquing each other all the time, trying to improve. That's how the writer's room always is, ahaha... hours of fighting goes down in those meetings. It's intense, but fun.
But yeah, it's such a shame. Even small companies need to sell out to corporate to survive. Either that or be HEAVILY crowd-funded, which again, can be a slippery slope.
I see a ton of small projects on Twitter looking to hire people, or looking to become a big studio to release a pilot or game. I've joined a few of them, but most are unpaid because of COURSE they are, and then these projects?? Just don't go anywhere. Because it's unpaid. Because we can't afford to work on a project for free. IRL comes first. Some of these projects seem so great but they don't go anywhere, and it's hard to have faith in start-up studios anymore. (Game creators might have a chance, but tv series or films? Good luck, folks.)
At that point, should I just make my own company? I don't have the money or knowledge for such a thing! It's insanely expensive to start a business and get licensing. So much paperwork, so much everything! And the USA Government is so behind in understanding technology. If you want to create a remote business and/or copyright something, you're still required to put an advertisement in a local newspaper about it, even if your business isn't selling to locals. 💀 The number of fees and ridiculous legal hoops you need to jump through... it's a ridiculous waste of time and money. But you need to do it. The question is, am I willing to do it? Am I willing to tackle such an insane thing by myself?
I want to keep my internet persona and IRL persona separate, but can I? I value having a private, quieter life away from the screen. I worry about getting doxxed one day because of the nature of the internet. I worry about people finding my IRL resumes or profiles for work I want to do outside of youtube for security's sake. My art style is unique and very recognizable. I don't have a lot of private art that is worthy of being in a portfolio. But for absolute safety, I'd need to password-protect my websites or portfolios so the public doesn't have free access to them; only companies I'm applying to. But at that point, does password-protecting my resume and portfolio make it less likely I'd be hired due to the inconvenience? Due to the private, hard-to-find nature of my work? Being a YouTuber with great story skills and art skills with a fanbase could be a big plus to getting hired somewhere, but it could also be a horrible disadvantage that would get me fired. It's a double-edged sword that I cannot work around and I don't know what to do.
I've considered the video game industry, but even that isn't ideal. A lot of the indie ones I adore aren't made in the USA. Gris and Monster Camp were made in Spain. Ori and the Blind Forest: Austria. Hollow Knight: Australia. Little Nightmares and Raft: Sweden. LIMBO & INSIDE: Denmark. Outlast, Don't Starve, Spirit Farer, Bendy and the Ink Machine: Canada.
SuperGiant Games did Hades, Transistor and Bastion and is located in SF, but they're not hiring. Janimation, a multi-media company located in Texas isn't hiring. Frederator in New York isn't hiring.
I don't want to work for a studio that does nothing but first-person shooters or sports games. If I want to get into the gaming industry, I probably need to crowdfund and make a company to make a game myself.
If I make my own game, which I've wanted to do for a long time now and still want to... I can't code. I guess I could try to hire someone that could? But a game to the extent I want... I'd need to start small. I'd need to practice. It's several years of work. Will it even be worth it? I don't think I can do it alone. I'd need crowdfunding and workers; which again, here comes the "make my own studio" issue...
Do I even want to animate anymore? I prefer traditional animation in comparison to puppetry. I prefer 2D animation to 3D animation simply because it is more accessible. But even then, I'm finding myself drawn more and more to writing, storyboarding, and character design. If I were a 3D animator, this is mostly what I'd be working with all day: Naked models in an empty room. I'd do none of the physics simulation or texturing or lighting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Animating naked & bald people all day... I don't know... 3D Animation kind of lost its appeal. You only work on such a small portion of a film, you almost never have the bigger picture. You won't see the final result until the film is done. As an animator, you're almost kept in the dark. Maybe that's how they want it anyway, since leaks are a huge issue they keep quiet under strict NDA.
But yeah, anyway... I'm an artistic digital generalist. I can do almost anything. 3D animation, storyboarding, writing, photo editing, illustration, rendering, modeling and so much more. It's hard to choose what you really want to be in this industry. I feel like Barry Benson dfklgjdflkjg
Tumblr media
I don't know what I'm gonna do anymore. There's gotta be a solution to this but I just can't figure it out. I don't want to give up my youtube channel so I can be an animator. I don't want to give up a safer, quiet countryside house to be able to survive financially. Am I even willing or able to move countries? Is my career more important than friends and family?
I think I'm thinking too much about everything. I should start small. Move less than an hour away first and move in with roommates to get a feel for independence instead of jumping into it immediately. Get a job at a small time company, maybe not for what I want at first, but it'll get me some experience and maybe I'll learn some things along the way to understand where I can go next. Take it slow and don't panic too much over trying to be a young big shot. Take things one day at a time? That's my current goal, I suppose.
So you know... to answer your question... why did I switch to youtube for a current career? Because of a classic existential & career crisis in my 20s. Will I ever go back to 3D animation? Maybe. Maybe one day.

Pick a Pile
The Divinely Guided message you need to hear right now:
Group 1-
Success is just around the corner and I know you can feel it! You just have to do a little more work. Study your craft more, spend more time on that new business, and continue to discover new things about yourself. There are so many experiences life has for us to explore and it’s important to have an open mind! Stop doubting yourself, it’s like an insult to yourself. How can you say you trust the Universe but you don’t trust yourself? Aren’t you a part of the Universe? So now it’s time to discuss the uselessness of fear. When you put yourself in a fearful state, you are LYING to yourself. You’re telling yourself that there is something you need to be afraid of, but why? Again, don’t you trust the Universe/ Yourself? You are causing your present state to be that of anxiety and depression, when in reality everything is going really well for you right now. I understand that you have been throguh extreme hardships lately, causing the anxiety. I want you to alloow yourself to have peace and accept it with a grateful heart. Do not be afraid of it, you deserve it. Open up your heart to the many activities that you find an interest in and ALLOW yourself to enjoy it without judging yourself so harshly. You’re the hardest on yourself, which served you at some point but it is time to let that go and welcome the version of you that you want to be. This is your key to success (…new car soon…)
Group 2-
Say this out loud with me okay? “I’m proud of myself, I’ve come so far from the person I used to be. I gained so much strength and knowledge on my way to becoming the best version of me. I’m not perfect, and that’s okay. I am grateful to have learned the lessons my past self taught me so that I can apply them to my everyday life. I love who I’m becoming.” You’ve had such a good balance between the highs and lows, and you are tired. Now is time to rest and graciously accept the numerous gifts the Universe is giving you. You deserve it. Be proud of your story, and how far you’ve come. Understand how miraculous you are to have outgrown all of the old habits that no longer serve you. You are one of the very few people who understand how precious their time and energy is. Sit and indulge in your new lifestyle…it’s here to stay. You deserve all of the riches coming your way, in your higher good and in the higher good of everyone else.
Group 3-
Group 3 it’s over with, you can take a breath now. Inhale, exhale. You’ve broken many generational curses at the stake of your own health. You’re the start of an entirely wealthy family line. All of the old cycles are closed, and you did an amazing job. You’re looking back at your past thinking, “how did I survive?”….and the answer is because you are heavily divinely protected. You have a huge spirit army on your side, protecting and guiding you. They are your ancestors, angels, spirit guides, and God. There is nothing that can slow down your spirit and its very noticable. You are vibrating so high that others look to you as a leader. You’re someone everyone wishes to be like someday. Use this as a tool to keep spreading love and light energy, you are changing lives just by using your voice. You are so powerful.

THE HORIZON MACHINE
the miraculous crosswise HORIZON MACHINE was discovered underneath a pile of rubble by disgraced cultural theorist w.s. healed (@txttletale) & rogue fresco artist citizen abel (@growleaf), who repaired its rusted circuits and fused wires by whispering stories to it during long summer nights.
now it consumes the equivalent power of a city block to occasionally print out tabletop roleplaying games plucked from attenuation to the numinous ether of the world-soul. this is infinitely less efficient than the traditional method of having an artist draw and a writer write, but isn't it nicer to believe that the world is miraculous?
the machine’s first project, comedy feudal intrigue ttrpg most trusted advisors, can be purchased here here. the machine’s output and concerning beeping sounds can be monitored on itch.io and twitter. the beauty of the world can only be found in the interaction between countless concentric systems, but it’s worth it to try.
unless otherwise specified, all communiques on this account despatched from the desk of w.s. healed
