I started and finished Quiet on Set in one sitting this evening. There’s obviously a lot to unpack from this docu-series and it would take a significant amount of time to run through every single thing that stood out to me in all the wrong ways, so I just want to quickly say this: there was an abundance of red flags with all these adults who were trusted with young children, and it truly blows my mind that 1) Nickelodeon as a network approved it and 2) almost none of the parents of these child stars spoke out about it. The ones who did were either alienated from their child or their child was fired. I can’t remember who it was who said something along the lines of “if you’re an adult who’s going to employ children, it’s your responsibility to ensure that you create an environment where they feel safe expressing they’re not comfortable with something,” but she hit the nail on the head with that one. In the 20 year time span this docu-series covered, none of these child stars felt comfortable expressing any discomfort they felt in their tenure with Nickelodeon. Jennette McCurdy’s book still haunts me to this day, and it pains me to say that she barely scratched the surface.

It’s disappointing to learn that so many disgusting things were going on behind the scenes of so many shows I adored as a child/tween, and I hope every single one of these child stars know how much support they have and are able to heal.

Dan Schneider, Jason Handy, Brian Peck, Ezel Channel, Robin Bell, and whoever else was behind these child stars being abused and exploited — you should all feel ashamed of yourselves and I genuinely hope you all know no peace for the rest of your lives.

. i’ll cry if i want to (1963), leslie gore (never realized it’s my party had a whole concept album attached -- obsessed, want to play it at every party i ever throw if i ever throw a party again)

. soup (1995), blind melon (just really good and fun and interesting and ridiculous, all the good things)

. in a silent way (1969), miles davis (i just simply enjoyed it, definitely will be bringing more miles into my life) 

. god save the animals (2022), alex g (listened to this because halsey has talked about him a lot and yeah this album is sick; the songs often have nostalgic acoustics mixed with electrics and insane electronics and to me it feels familiar but new at the same time? Idk if that makes sense but it’s masterful)

.i am a bird now (2005), antony & the johnsons (this feels like listening to a soul, i don’t say that lightly --  i’d say more but most words feel shallow with this one) 

.the decline of british sea power (2003), british sea power (the concept of this album + the quality of the songs both within and beyond the concept = HOLY SHIT)

Allison!Cass is so so incredible and she can get away with whatever she wants but can’t people see she’s kind? She’s not just some freak; why can’t anyone see that?

Brian!Jason needed to prove that he could make something of himself. He was more than the street kid and he needed to prove it. However, that meant he needed perfect grades and God forbid he let anyone down. He tried so hard but it’s not enough and he’s so sorry for it. There was a gun in his locker and he swore he would fix things.

John!Tim didn’t have anyone. He grew up alone and angry at the world. Who cares if he pulls fire alarms for the hell of it? Surely not his parents; they haven’t been in town for months. He doesn’t need anyone.

Andrew!Damian had his life paved for him before he was even born. He was going to do what his mother wanted him to do, regardless of whether or not he wanted it. But he has to make her proud. He’ll do whatever she says, hoping for a “good job” that will never come.

okay meta and headcanon time because i can't sleep

ramona refers multiple times to how fast and easily elizabeth moves on from her partners and doesn't love them ("she doesn't love him" "of course she doesn't, you think that's gonna matter?"; "you think you're her one and only. she's already moved on to the next one, you can count on it").

however, while the moment in time hotel is set in (october/november 2015) certainly makes her look that way with donovan, tristan, and will drake (we love a promiscuous bisexual), her actual relationship history that ramona is aware of does not point into that direction at all.

the relations elizabeth has had that we know of are as follows

1925-1926: valentino & natacha

she was in love with valentino and willed herself to love natacha too even though both of them treated her badly but that's another story

1926: married james patrick march for wealth

it is not clear whether ramona knew about this marriage or elizabeth's arrangement with him bc she didn't seem to recognize him at all when she saw him in 2015

1926-1976: we know nothing about this part of elizabeth's life

1977-1992: ramona

a loving relationship that slowly turned bad due to outside influences that caused grief and pain (according to my theory) and ended in ramona cheating and elizabeth killing her boyfriend

1994-2015: donovan

a relationship that worked mostly as a void-filler for elizabeth and was sexually non-monogamous but seemed to have rules surrounding love, similar to tristan

october-november 2015: tristan

they "dated" for less than a month tbh looking at the timeline before tristan fell in love with liz instead (and died)

also october-november 2015: will drake

again, elizabeth courts and weds him for wealth and ownership of the hotel

so to summarize, since elizabeth broke up with ramona we know of one 21-year-long relationship she had with donovan and then 2 men she started dating in 2015 for money and looks. when ramona kidnapped donovan, she was not aware that elizabeth wasn't with donovan anymore, meaning at that point she didn't know about any of elizabeth's boyfriends outside of that 21-year-long relationship.

so the question remains, where did she get the idea that elizabeth jumping from one partner to the next without having feelings for any of them is a well-known pattern?

(aside from her painting a negative image of elizabeth in her head to facilitate revenge)

that's where my headcanon comes in:

in the two years between breaking up with ramona and claiming donovan for herself, i assume elizabeth was promiscuous and did jump from one partner to the next with no strings attached to cope with the heartbreak of losing ramona.

and given they had just freshly broken up, ramona probably heard about it. i could even imagine elizabeth trying to numb her pain so fast with another person that when ramona came to the hotel to pick up her stuff, she caught elizabeth in bed with another woman (or other person) and that hurt her even more and left a bitter taste in her mouth (you know in addition to her killing her boyfriend) to the point where ramona assumed if elizabeth was moving on that quickly she must've not really loved her at all (which very obviously isn't true but ramona seemed convinced of that in her unreliable retelling of the story).

that's when ramona went to her parent's place to cope with her pain and got stuck in time until 2015.

i'm still curious how she found donovan tho. maybe she hired a private eye like elizabeth did with valentino but it must've not been a very good one if he didn't tell her about tristan and will drake.

so yeah, that's my explanation for why ramona said/thought those things

Dallas Con JPEG day! 

I have done dozens of ops with the guys and I still came out of this one shaking. But also Misha said “Nice to see you!” as I was leaving the op so that may have contributed ;-)

I brought a reference photo for this one and gave it to Shelley. She showed Jensen and he seemed unexpectedly excited about it (actually went “Oh yeah!” when he saw it). Then I had to stare at him for like five seconds which is legitimately like staring into the sun. And then he gave my hands a little extra squeeze before he let go <3

I LOVED meeting The Winchesters cast! Got to do meet and greets with Drake and JoJo and they were so lovely and genuine and just excited to be there. And then look at Drake and Jensen’s faces in this op - it's like mirrored bookends. 

JoJo is just a beautiful soul, inside and out. 

I asked Drake if I could have a hug and he said “Of course!” and then proceeded to put his head on the top of mine just like Jared does when he hugs me. I was a puddle after.

After the Drake op, I had to go get a Jared op so they could be set side by side and demonstrate the son/father synchronicity (he’s done this head thing, regardless of the pose, in nearly all my ops since the plexi went away - I think it’s just our thing now). And also Moose hugs are the best kind of therapy. He gave my arms a squeeze before I walked away and I could feel it for like five minutes after <3

This beautiful soul being added to Dallas was a tipping point in me deciding to go. Calian is absolutely my favorite character from Walker:Independence. 

All in all, don’t love the way I look in all of these, but they were some of my most positive experiences in the op room that I’ve ever had.
