Digital Portfolio #3 - Kita Shinsuke
Tumblr media
Despite only showing up during the Nationals Arch, Inarizaki is a team to remember. I am always amazed by how Furudate is able to create so many different characters, all of them having the potential of being the main characters. Within the Inarizaki team, there are many outstanding players and well-written characters, such as Osamu and Atsumu, known as the Miya twins, and also Suna, but in this digital portfolio, I will be focusing on the captain of the Inarizaki team, Kita Shinsuke.
Unlike many of the other series captains, Kita has no special talent or overflowing passion for the sport. But instead of this being a drawback to his character, that is what makes him unique. Kita’s whole philosophy and character is that results are just something that happens, not something he strives for, which is the complete opposite of Oikawa, who believes that results are everything. In Volume 31, Chapter 274, Kita even says, “I am built upon the small things I do every day, and the end results are no more than a byproduct of that.”
With this type of thinking, Kita is able to be confident in his playing. Not arrogant or narcissistic, but he knows that he’ll be able to get the job done, as it’s just another part of his route. During games, his teammates can get stressed out, but Kita is able to keep his cool and steer his members in the right direction.
Despite his volleyball skills, Kita is outshined by his underclassman. His 3rd year is his first year to receive a jersey and play on the court. Even though he is captain of the team, Kita doesn’t get to play the entire game, instead, a fellow third-year, Aran Ojiro, takes the title of “on-court captain”.
Kita tends to be blunt with his words, which sometimes makes his underclassmen a bit scared to get on his bad side. But despite this, Kita is caring and wants the best for his teammates
I love that Furudate could have easily glazed over a character like Kita, who has nothing outstanding about him, but he didn’t. Furudate gave us a peek into Kita’s past, which helped explain his character even more. Furudate could have easily just given all of the fame and glory to Atsumu, who is one of the main supporting characters leading into the post-time skip, but Furudate made an effort to create stories for each and every one of his characters.
Kita is an underrated character, being outshined by his underclassmen, but you’ll instantly fall in love with him by understanding more about him.

Idk if anyone here is into Shakespeare or any of his works but I thought I’d share my Shakespeare project that I worked on for my English class, I focused on the women in Richard III and how Richard’s manipulation tactics hurt each woman. I have symbolization in each piece so I can go into tnay if anyone would like :)

The Sea Otter (#3)
The sea otter has been a large part of Anishinaabe history, featuring in many creation myths, particularly, in the story of the otter, it is said that when the great spirt created the earth, he called a meeting with all the spirts. He told them how he intended to put humans onto the earth and how the animals would play a important role in this creation.
Each animals in turn came up to the Great Spirt and each one would talk him, telling him how they'd help the humans in their own ways and among those, would be the guardian spirt of the Otter. The Otter confirmed that he'd help the Great Spirt in guiding the humans to good paths in his creation. He told the Great Spirt that because of his strengths, he'd teach the humans to work together, how to protect their friends and family when they want to unite- "When they need me I will show the people the direction to unity."
Because of this, the Otter became a symbol of good luck and prosperity. But most importantly, the Otter became known as a guardian spirt. There was a belief that the Otter has the power to heal the sick and bring good luck to those who encounter it.

I have a song analysis project for my English class and we have to draw/use ai to make an album cover/song cover for it. I chose to draw my cover and this is how it turned out!! :)
Tumblr media
This is just the sketch, mind you.
It’s for the song ‘Labour’ by Paris Paloma. If you haven’t heard it yet (which may be pretty unlikely since it used to be pretty popular), you should go give it a listen! :D

tw // implications of self-harm
ah.
i've made it here again.
the same path i knew too long ago and how i never wanted to come back,
but once again, "it is all my fault."
only anger and frustration runs through my veins, the hate has grown for far too long,
now overflowing of its already cracked glass,
and i can't help but wonder if i have truly gone insane.
repeated words that cloud my mind, coming from a place called home:
useless.
worthless.
it goes never-ending.
i know it all too well.
will i be able to get things right?
hit. hit.
from someone named myself.
the purples and blues that spread across my skin scream for mercy,
blending into the white noise of my mind.
another hit and another.
ripped skin and crimson.
i don't know how much time has passed.
will i be able to get things right?
this burning sensation from the top of my head to my toes aren't satisfying enough.
it needs to be done.
it needs to be done.
yet i hate it so much.
i don't want to feel this way.
i swear i am not the child you think i am,
but no matter what i do,
it is never enough.
will i be able to get things right?
as time passed alone with myself,
i can only feel my wounds splitting open.
i don't know how much longer i can take.
i'm tired of these thoughts created by you
cause i know i'm deserving of enough,
but i can't help that i only want to make you proud.
will i be able to get things right?
"I'm sorry. it will never happen again."
yet how many times have i heard you say that?
i can't escape this cycle.
i can't be the person you want me to be.
i just wish someone could understand me.
will i be able to get things right?
there will be a day when i'm not afraid,
not afraid of you or this responsibility because truthfully,
you barely know me.
i am not the child of years ago that you long for.
for that i have grown, lived, and learned the unknown who has shaped me into me.
no longer am i the little girl that you compare me to.
though for now, i'll stay a child.
as "it is all i am and all i ever will be."
so although i already know the answer...
tell me, will i be able to get things right?

RESEARCH
Story: A message that tells the particulars of an act or occurrence or course of events; presented in writing or drama or cinema or as a radio or television program.
Tales: a story, especially one that might be invented or difficult to believe.
Science Fiction: Science fiction, popularly shortened as sci-fi, is a genre of fiction that creatively depicts real or imaginary science and technology as part of its plot, setting, or theme.
STORY
"In the year 2023, Mihaela, Diana, Delia, and Vanessa found themselves in the midst of an unexpected water shortage during their trip to Uruguay. The rivers were dry, and the reservoirs seemed empty. Drought was ravaging the region. As they discussed the gravity of the situation, Vanessa suggested, 'We should embark on a journey into the future to see how this water shortage will affect future generations.' After gathering their resources, they utilized a time machine they had acquired from an eccentric inventor. They arrived in the year 2109 and were stunned to see the world immersed in an environmental crisis. Water scarcity had become a global problem of catastrophic proportions. Delia asked a local man: 'What happened here, why is there so little water?' The man, with a somber countenance, replied, 'The lack of water is due to a destructive cycle of events. Deforestation, pollution, and climate change triggered this crisis. No action was taken in time.' Diana exclaimed, 'We must return to the past and prevent this from happening. Humanity cannot allow this to continue!' They traveled back to 1989 and, after intensive research, discovered that a group of unscrupulous scientists in the United States had been conducting secret experiments in a laboratory. They were manipulating the weather and disrupting the natural water cycle in dangerous ways. Mihaela confronted one of the scientists: 'What are you doing here? You must put a stop to these experiments immediately.' The scientist nervously admitted: 'We were trying to gain power over nature and, in the process, we triggered a catastrophe. We made a grave mistake.' With irrefutable evidence, they persuaded them to cease their experiments. Future water shortages were averted, and the world was able to bounce back. Back in 2023, they noticed that the situation was improving. Environmental awareness had gone up, and steps had been taken to preserve water resources. Vanessa smiled and said, 'We did the right thing. We altered the course of history for the better.' Delia nodded, 'We learned that our present actions can have a significant impact on the future. We must be responsible stewards of our planet.' "In the end, their journey taught them that through collective action, knowledge, and determination, they could rewrite the course of history and secure a more sustainable future. "The trip to Uruguay became an unforgettable lesson in the importance of environmental conservation and humanity's quest for justice for the future. They had intervened in time to correct a past mistake and ensure a more sustainable world."

Digital Portfolio Entry #2 - Bokuto Kotaro
Tumblr media
Furudate created a character that nobody would be able to forget or dislike, and this character’s name is Bokuto Kotaro. Bokuto is a 3rd year student who goes to Fukurodani Academy, and is the volleyball team captain as well as their ace. Bokuto is a bundle of joy, celebrating every good spike he hits, and cheering for his team mates. In season 2 of Haikyuu, Takeda, the coach of Karasuno, even states that despite Bokuto being on the opposite team, that they all couldn’t help cheer for him. Most side characters that aren’t following the protagonist every step of the way can be sometimes forgotten, but Bokuto isn’t one of them.
Bokuto is able to stand out from the crowd, not because of his looks, but because of his personality. He is able to be distinct from the 100 different characters Furudate has given us because of something he goes through, titled an “emo mode” which his teammates had given it. This basically means that Bokuto gets pretty dejected during the game, and isn’t able to participate with spiking, receiving, blocking. How does one get into such mode, it’s usually because of something small, such as getting blocked, or the game not going as he planned.
Even though it may be as small as not being able to compete in the main arena, this means a lot to Bokuto and in order to get him back up and running, Akaashi, the 2nd year vice-captain, does his magic and manages to get him up again.
Despite being the captain, and also one of the top 5 aces in Japan, his team isn’t a one man show, in fact, it's much the opposite. His teammates are the ones to guide him along. I enjoyed how Furudate wrote a character such as Bokuto, as it’s very easy to fall into the troupe of a “one man team” for someone who is as talented as Bokuto is. Fukurodani itself was a powerful and skillful team without Bokuto, being able to compete against the top schools, but with Bokuto, they are able to beat them.
Bokuto’s character is so pure, wanting the best for everybody. His relationship with Akaashi just makes it even better. Akaashi, despite being a year younger than him, took up the task of keeping Bokuto in check. The dynamic of the friendship is something that everybody remembers, because there isn’t a functioning Bokuto without Akaashi.

Story:
The year was 2042. I was eating pizza with my amigos Iván, Piero, Xavier and Renato in my house in Guayaquil. After many hours laughing, I went to sleep. I woke up thirsty, so I opened my nano-tech laser-based portatile water dispenser, and I was surprised when I read a message in it: “To all our clients, due to an indefinite interruption in the water supply of Ecuador, we inform you that unfortunately, we ran out of water.” It took me some time to get over the fact that despite many efforts, we couldn’t preserve water.
Fortunately, I studied quantum physics. Consequently, I started my duty, and after endless work besides my friends, we created a time machine. It was a watch, therefore we included watch-like features in it. We decided to travel to Quito, 1921. That year Quito began its channeling and sewerage projects, and it was one of the first events that started irresponsible water consumption in Ecuador. Soon, we turned on our watches, and traveled.
Xavier studied time paradoxes, and said we had to interfere as less as possible in individual interactions, because it could end up in serious trouble. Thus, we began our campaign. Being there felt like an endless déjà vu, but not exactly. We pretended we were the chiefs of an ecological organization, and we made a pact with the mayor of the city, who allowed us to supervise the projects in order to prevent any design mistakes or malfunctions. We promoted responsible water consumption among a socially-receptible society. After 13 years of endless efforts, the channeling and sewerage projects in Quito were finished, and we made sure they fulfilled strict standards that ensured saving water for many years in the future. In addition, our campaign also resulted in many people taking action. Eventually, the campaign moved to the main cities and of Latin America. Then we decided we were done, so we traveled back to our future looking forward to see good changes. We arrived and found out that we succeeded!
Lastly, Xavier and Piero concluded that things didn’t change abruptly for any of us. Renato and Iván found out that water supply wasn’t interrupted. I opened my nano-tech laser-based portatile water dispenser, and this time I didn’t have any messages. We didn’t give up, and we made good changes. Finally, we lived peacefully and with water for the rest of our lives.

This one was for an English assignment on the memoir “Night” by Elie Wiesel. The prompt was to “create a visual representation of the novel and its various themes.” The Star of David was used to represent Elie’s faith and how he eventually became disillusioned from it. The tag with his given name scratched out and replaced by numbers represented how the inmates of Auschwitz were dehumanized. The moon eclipsing the sun represents the motif of the despair of night taking over the joy of day. The background is an interpretation of Auschwitz.
