Love Trope February! Soulmates: Mountain x Reader x Swiss

Swiss and Mountain had discovered they were destined mates not long after Swiss had been summoned, they had felt a pull towards each other and always craved to be around the other whenever separated. So with some advice from Aether, Mountain planned out the perfect confession and way to ask if Swiss would be his mate, of course the Multi had said yes and it ended up with heated, passionate sex between the two where they claimed each other. That had been 3 years ago, now there suddenly, Swiss feels that same tug again, but towards a newly joined Sibling that works in the library.

I hope you guys love this as much as I did, I'm a sucker for a good Soulmate AU; if it isn't clear ghouls basically have destined mates, a mate they have that was made for them specifically and sometimes they can have more than one, but it is rare for a ghoul's destined mate to be a human as ghouls are immortal, but what helps is that once they claim their mate, the human also becomes immortal as long as their mate/mates live. I may or may not have gotten the slight idea of the mates from a story called Scarred Beauty on Wattpad (go read it, it's amazing, it's an x reader where you are the soulmate of 3 of the ghouls. I'll let you find out which ones hehe)

The moment he had seen them, he felt the same lurch in his belly that he did when he first laid eyes on the Earth ghoul; of course, he decided he had to get to know them. After a few hours talking to the new Sibling, he discovered their name was (Y/N); they had discovered the Ministry through Ghost and came after escaping a religious family that wanted to force them into an arranged marriage, something that made the Multi snarl, and that they are possibly one of the most adorable, sweetest, dorky people he has ever met. Of course, that night, he curled up in the nest with Mountain and spilled out what he had discovered; they had agreed not to keep secrets from each other no matter what.

“Mounty?” Swiss mumbles into the Earth ghoul's neck; he was laid atop the larger male while the other was reading and absent-mindedly rubbing his back; he earns a hum of acknowledgment, “I..think I might have a second soulmate..” he says, squeezing his eyes shut nervously when Mountain’s hand freezes. The large ghoul sets his book aside and sits up, Swiss sliding off and looking down ashamedly, “Edlewisse, look at me.” Mountain says, gently cupping his lover's chin, to which Swiss slowly meets soft green eyes, “What do you mean, did you meet someone and feel the same link?” he asks softly, to which Swiss nods. It isn’t rare for ghouls to have multiple soulmates, though it isn’t common, especially for one of the mates to be a human. “Their..a new Sibling I met in the library, Papa had asked me to get some books for him, and the head librarian asked them to help me. The second our eyes met, I felt that same feeling in my stomach I did when we met. I’m sorry, Mounty, I can ignore it!” Swiss rambles before a long finger covers his lips.

Mountain smiles at him, “Edlewisse, for one, we both know you can’t pick who or how many soulmates you have, and two, it isn’t healthy for either of you for you to ignore it. Remember how sick we both got when you tried to avoid me before I confessed to you? We don’t want that happening again, now I’m sure their lovely. I will always love you no matter what; please remember that.” Mountain reassures him, gently stroking his cheek. A bright smile breaks across Swiss’ face, “You’d love them; I talked to them for a while, and turns out they went to college in the States for some plant thing; they went on and on about how their grandparents taught them everything about herbology when they were growing up!” Swiss goes on to ramble about everything he learned about the human, Mountain nodding along, softly smiling at seeing how just talking about them makes the Multi light up, he wonders if it’s the way Aether says he does whenever Swiss rambles to him about himself. Eventually, the smaller ghoul falls asleep, curled up in Mountain’s arms. This is when Mountain decides he wants to meet his mate's other soulmate, he’s intrigued to know their knowledge of plant life.

The next day, the mates awaken and decide to stay in bed for a bit of a while, cuddled up together and sharing soft kisses. He tosses the clothes to the Multi, who has now sat up, watching Mountain dress with his eyes wandering up and down the lean but lightly muscled body that's been hardened from years of working in the gardens.

Soon they make it to the middle of the expansive garden, where there is a small pond with ducks and geese, nothing like the large lake slightly beyond the gardens, with benches and chairs scattered about for anyone who’d like to sit. This is where the pair settle, enjoying the cool autumn breeze as Mountain names any plant Swiss points at. This went on for a while until Swiss pointed at a 5 petaled lilac colored flower that stumps Mountain for a moment, but just as the name came to mind, a sudden voice came from behind them, “It’s a creeping phlox; I just helped Primo plant them this morning!”. they both turn, its a Sibling he’s never seen before. I’m not sure how they’ll react to having two ghouls claiming to be soulmates with them.’ Mountain thinks as the other two exchange greetings.

But when Swiss says his name, he comes back into reality, “I’m sorry, I zoned out; what did you say, Edelweiss?” Mountain says, “Edelweiss, is that your nickname for him? That’s adorable, and it fits him perfectly.” (Y/N) giggles; Swiss gives him a look that asks what he was thinking about, ‘I’ll tell you later, love, promise.’ “Yeah, he started calling me that soon after we mated; he’s got all sorts of plant nicknames for all the band members.” Swiss laughs, “That’s so meaningful; I love that. My grandma calls me Moth Orchid since I was always tucked into a dark room reading a book.” They giggle again, “That’s unique; not many people know of Moth Orchid; did your grandma have any?” Mountain asks, to which they nod, “Her and my grandpa had a huge garden, kind of like this one but not as big; they grew all kinds of plants, fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Like their own little supermarket, they taught me everything I know about plants.” they say, looking up at the Earth ghoul with a smile. The pair offer for the Sibling to sit with them, but they soon say they have to return to chores, leaving with a wave and offering to meet them again one day.

Mountain sighs, letting his head lean back when Swiss straddles his lap, arms wrapping around his shoulders, “So what were you thinking about earlier? It looked like you were staring into their soul.” he asks, a serious look on his face. Mountain looks down his nose at the Multi, “I..think they're also my second mate.” he admits, picking his head up as he wraps his arms around thin hips. Swiss’ mouth drops open, “Are..are you serious?! This is great, I was so worried about having to figure out how to tell them, plus how we were going to work it out if they accept, which I hope they do, bu-” Mountain cuts him off with a kiss, “Hush Spider Lilly, I’m happy too, as cute as you are when you ramble, we need to think of how to tell them that not just one, but two ghouls are tied to them.” he says, stroking the small bit of exposed skin on Swiss’ hip. They start discussing it, but they aren’t aware that the person they are discussing is sitting behind a tree nearby, hearing everything, and this answers their questions of why they felt so connected to the ghouls they had just met.

When (Y/N) had met Swiss yesterday, they felt like they had known him forever, that he was the piece that they didn’t realize was missing, and then the same thing happened today with his mate Mountain; they had no clue why it happened, but now they know what it was called a soulmate bond. There was no denying the mates were very attractive and interesting people, especially Mountain’s interest in plants and Swiss’ love for music; they had a feeling they would’ve developed feelings for the pair anyway, but this just sped it along. They had been confused as to why Swiss had seemed to be so flirty and touchy with them yesterday when he had mentioned he had a partner, now it made sense. They quickly stand and speed away when they hear the pair stand and say something about getting lunch, not wanting to be caught, and possibly asking what they were doing by the pair, not ready to talk to the pair after realizing this new information.

1 month later

Mountain and Swiss had grown quite close to (Y/N); they share similar interests and try to hang out every weekend whenever possible. The mates were happy because it seemed that the human really seemed to enjoy spending time with them and would return their attempt to get close, falling asleep on their shoulders during movie nights in the ghoul den, hugging them when they leave, placing a friendly kiss on each other's cheeks in greeting, and other similar actions. The pair had decided to invite the Sibling to dinner and confess their bond with them, they felt as if they couldn’t wait any longer to be unable to call (Y/N) theirs.

Mountain was working in the gardens when he spotted a head of (h/c) hair crouched next to a plot of purple Hydrangeas and orange Dahlias; they wipe the sweat from their head, and he can’t help but admire them as they work, dressed in a black t-shirt with shorts underneath and no shoes, as they work to seemingly spread fertilizer evenly through the flower bed and then standing and grabbing a watering can to water the flowers. He stands and makes his way over to the hard-working Sibling, waiting for them to finish so as not to interrupt their work, soon they gather up their materials and turn to continue on, but they jump when they notice the Earth ghoul; they place a hand over their chest as they huff out a laugh, “You scared the shit out of me Mountain, I didn’t notice you, I was just finishing up.” they say, smiling up at him. “I apologize for startling you, I just noticed you working, and I wanted to ask if you had plans for dinner tonight?” he asks, rubbing one of his arms awkwardly, they look shocked at the question, but it changes back into the smile, “No, I was just going to grab dinner in the dining hall and may be read in the library til curfew,” they say.

“Well then, I and Swiss were wondering if you’d like to maybe come to eat dinner with us tonight, he mentioned you like Chinese, and it just so happens that what he’s making for dinner, not that he was making it so you’d come, not that he wouldn’t, Sodo had asked for it.” Mountain rambles, anxiously fiddling with his hands but freezing all motion when they grab one, “I’d love to, I do love Chinese, and I appreciate it even if it’s not specifically for me.” they laugh. A small smile makes its way onto the Earth ghoul's face, “Great, we usually eat around 6:30; I can meet you, and we can walk down together; I have some stuff for Papa I have to do, and I should get done around 6.” he offers, even though. “Yeah, that’d be great; I’m about to finish here. I can meet you by the library around 6:15?” they say excitedly, to which he agrees, “Yeah, I’ll see you then, I guess.” he says, trying to hide the excitement from his voice.

They finish and go separate ways, Mountain nearly sprinting to the chapel where Swiss was cleaning the pews and sweeping the floors, getting ready for tonight's Dark Mass, “They agreed; I’m meeting them a little after 6 to bring them to the ghoul den!” Mountain gasps breathlessly to a grinning Swiss, “That’s great, I'm excited!” he says, dropping the broom and grabbing his mate's hand as his tail wags happily, “Do you think this is a good way to tell them?” Mountain asks, a look of nervousness on his face. “I can’t think of a better way; the worst they can say is no. I know it is scary, but we both know we need to tell them it'll be okay sooner or later, Dandelion.” Swiss reassures his mate, gently placing his hand on the taller's cheek and stroking the sharp cheekbone. The Earth ghoul sighs, leaning into the comforting touch, “Your right, Edelweiss; I’m just nervous, is all.”

They share a kiss and go their separate ways, Mountain running to Copia’s office to assist him with the paperwork he asked for help with. It takes a good few hours and a bit of running the finished work to Imperator, but Mountain finishes about 5 minutes before the time he agreed to meet (Y/N). He rushes down to the library, adjusting his mask and straightening his clothes as he makes his way through the halls. He makes it to the library doors right as it seems (Y/N) is leaving too; they grin when they see him, “Great timing, I just finished up!” they say, “Me too, Papa has so much paperwork, it's like they give the poor guy all the work possible.” Mountain jokes, offering his arm to the human, “Anyways, I hope you're hungry; Swiss has been sending me pictures of the food he’s been making to mess with me, and it looks delicious.” he says as they take his arm and they begin walking towards the ghoul den. “Hell yes, I missed lunch today cause Sister Gillian is sick, and they asked me to take over her duties today, and I lost track of time.” they groan

Within no time, they made it to the ghoul den common room, the smell of dinner had met them in the stairwell, and they had speed-walked ((Y/N) jogging to keep up with the taller ghoul) the last bit. The other ghouls are spread out unmasked across the couch and armchairs; the ghoulettes and Rain are somehow squished onto the couch watching a documentary while Aether is in the closest armchair reading with Dewdrop sprawled across his lap, whining about how he’s hungry to which is they can hear Swiss call the kitchen that it’s almost ready, just waiting for the last two to arrive.

As they enter the room, Dew perks up from his spot, “They're here, fucking finally, can we eat now!” Dew yells, getting ready to shoot up from his spot. “You can once (Y/N) makes their plate Gremlin. Knowing you, you’d steal half the food before they even stepped foot in the kitchen.” Swiss says, standing in the threshold wearing an apron that reads “Hot & Spicy, oh and the food pretty good too!”, “Thank you Swiss. Nice apron, pretty accurate if the smell says anything.” (Y/N) says with a wink, not noticing the blush spread across his face; Mountain chuckles as he tosses his mask onto a nearby table. (Y/N) had seen their faces for the first time 2 weeks ago when they had accidentally walked into Swiss’ room to hang out and they had forgotten to put their masks on, it was a scramble but after being assured by the human, they don’t mind it’s been common for the ghouls not to wear their masks around their new friend.

Once (Y/N) made their plate, Dew damn near vaulted over the armchair to get into the kitchen as Sunshine hissed at him to save some for everyone. Soon everyone has their plates and is seated in varies places across the room, (Y/N) sat on the floor next to the coffee table despite Swiss and Cirrus’ protests that they could make room for them, but they insisted they like the floor and it’s easier to eat with the table next to them. (Y/N) groans as they dig in, this possibly being the best homemade Chinese they ever had, “Fuck Swiss, if Mountain wouldn’t maul me, I’d wife you up immediately.” they tease, “I’m sure he’d lik-” Dew says but is cut off when Mountain kicks him and gives him a hard look. He hisses at the giant but rolls his eyes and keeps eating. Once everyone finishes, Swiss and Mountain give Cirrus and Aether a look, “Hey Rainy, me and the girls were gonna face masks and massages; wanna come with? Aether, you and Dew are welcome to join too.” Cirrus says suddenly, standing up to clear her and Cumulus’ plates. Dew looks at Aether, “I was gon-” Aether squeezes his thigh, “Ye..yeah sure, we’ll meet you there in a minute.”

(Y/N) watches as everyone leaves before getting up, grabbing their plates, and offers to take Swiss and Mountain's since their heading to the kitchen, to which they agree. ‘This is the time, get the flowers Mount’ Swiss says; Mountain nods and slips out of the room to grab the flowers he had gathered when he was in the garden earlier as (Y/N) comes back into the room, “Hey, where’d Mount go?” they ask as they see Swiss now alone on the couch, “Oh he’ll be back in a second, but first I, technically we, have to tell you.” he says nervously, beckoning them to come to sit next to him. Their brows furrow in confusion as they sit; Swiss gently grabs their hands, looking them in the eye, “(Y/N), when I first met you, I realized something that I didn’t think would ever happen again. I told you how Mountain is my destined mate, basically a soulmate?” he says slowly, they nod, “Yeah, I thought it was cool cause you two were basically made for each other and it’s so sweet how you two seem to just fit together.” they reply, glancing down at their connected hands as a light blush covers their cheeks.

“Well, ghouls can sometimes have more than one destined mate. I realized that you were mine the day I met you, and Mountain discovered you were also his the next day. We both have grown to love you even more than just the mate bond in the month we’ve known you, we’ll respect you if you think it’s too soon or if you don’t feel the same for us, but we want you to be with us (Y/N). Would you be our mate.” Swiss says, eyes filled with worry yet love. (Y/N) gasps, Mountain appears in the doorway with a bundle of (favorite flowers) and stands next to them, “I..I have to admit, I did kind of overhear you two that day in the garden. I had dropped my phone and had come back and happened to overhear, I had also felt a connection to you two when I met both of you. I had no clue what it was until I overheard your conversation.” (Y/N) admits, glancing down, Swiss’ grip on their hand tightens slightly, “But I won’t lie that I love you both too, I didn’t want to intrude or push myself on you two. I would love to be your mate.” they say, a small smile covering their face as they meet Swiss and Mountain's equally happy faces. “You mean it? You're not fucking with us?!” Swiss exclaims, (Y/N) nods. He nearly tackles them off the couch as they laugh; Mountain sits beside them, joining the hug.

Both nuzzle into the human's neck, babbling how much they mean to them, purring loudly as (Y/N) giggles, returning the words and trying to wrap their arms around the Earth and Multi ghouls. “You don’t realize how happy you made us, little Daffodil, we didn’t think you’d return our feelings, much less also have the connection.” Mountain whispers into their neck, pressing kisses to their shoulder. Swiss comes up first, looking them in the eye, “Can I kiss you please?” he near begs, (Y/N) leans forward first, meeting plush lips that press back in a passionate kiss. Mountain gives a small growl once they separate, (Y/N) turns with a giggle, “Does someone feel left out.” they tease, and Mountain answers with a kiss of his own. Hands cupping their face and clinging around their waist, it is just as passionate, if not more than Swiss’. They continue to share kisses until Mountain suddenly stands and hoists both (Y/N) and Swiss over his shoulders. Both yelp but start laughing when they look at each other dangling over the Earth ghoul's shoulders. That night was filled with cuddles, a little lovemaking, and possibly (Y/N) earning two claiming bites in mirroring spots of their neck, which Sunshine and Dew teased them for the next morning despite the warning growls coming from the human’s ghouls. However, it was still a happy morning after a fantastic night.
