Hello everyone!

With monsoon in swing (well not really, we're I'm at we've had exactly 3, 5 minute rainfalls. Far more dust storms than anything) and it being August now im looking towards what I'll be growing for fall/winter this yr.

So far ive cleaned out the garden and plan on picking up new manure to top off the established beds soon.

Started doing checks and fixes on temp fence as well as checking my lines. (One busted, pictured below)

Selected some plant varieties, For this upcoming season.

As well I'm looking into how many I need per person, some use/storage methods and planning adjustments to future recipes to accomodate for what's grown.

Started cleaning out the floral bed to toss herbs and edible/medicinal flowers and pollinater attractors in since the heat killed off much flowers this year and the frass took over. Debating on if I will dig up all the tubers, roots and corms to redistribute along the bed differently or just leave them.

The sweet potato vine has gone mad-lad recently. Soon I will pick leaves and vines and try a few recipes out :) I'm hoping they will be as delicious as a sweet potatoes. If so they'll be a perma grow item on my journey of sustainability as I have literally planted, set up a sprinkler and just let it go all on its own.

With the storms going on one of the long term tarps peeled back, for those who saw what I started with this is what it looks like beneath now!

Unfortunatly, I'm not likely to be rid of this grass forever anytime soon as even just tiny bits of it can cause infestation. Part of why for the beds we dug down, tarped/paper/cardboard lined the beds and refilled with entirely new soil material. With cool weather in the future I want to attempt to dig up a few more beds for both household eating and hopefully to trade with a few of the neighbours for some of their produce :)

I'm also going to try my hand at making curtains for around the house this week. The ones at store don't have anything cotton, hemp or otherwise not full of plastic or cute patterns :( plus I've some fabrics I bout for quilting/attempt at clothes making on discount that I've since realised I won't get to using for some reason or another so for now, curtains they will become :)

The Anya-Twilight interaction in the middle of this chapter is pretty interesting.

The Anya side of this interaction seems clear enough in that she's trying to obfuscate when asked about her exposure to classical language. The fact we don't see her face as she claims she doesn't remember makes me think she very possibly *does*, but doesn't want to talk about it. And, of course, as I've seen pointed out already, her face when she's first asked is very reminiscent of how she looks in the recent 'Ania' short chapter. She has thoughts/feelings about her past and they've clearly affected her, but they're not for the audience to see yet.

However, the Twilight side of this? I'm a bit stunned at how obviously he does not want to be asking this question of Anya. We know he's considered there's some reason in her past for her knowledge of classical language. We know he's a chronic overthinker. Even last chapter, he was thinking of this, but didn't ask. Anya getting second place though basically removes any plausible deniability. If he doesn't ask now, he's neglecting his duty. But still, he has to work up to it, almost leaves the room before he decides to broach the topic, and when he does, he *mumbles* it. Twilight doesn't really *act* with Anya when it's just them. His mumbling is not an act; it's reluctance.

His reluctance to ask the question of Anya is, in some ways, more egregious than how easily he drops the topic once Anya claims she doesn't remember. Not pushing her further and bringing the topic up later is a valid tactic (and likely one we may see), but we can see that he knows there's more to it. Unlike the audience, he can see her face, after all. And for now, he's indicated he won't push further despite that knowledge. By choosing to back off and patting Anya instead, he's (in a very low-key way admittedly) prioritising Anya over the mission.

It's just so neat how this one interaction showcases so much about the both of them. It hammers in Anya's trauma about her past, without spelling it out in words, but at the same time, it shows how Twilight's approach to fatherhood vs his mission are coming increasingly into conflict. We've had something similar on a larger scale with the recent Yuri-mole arc, with his role as Yor's spouse vs the mission, but it's still playing out on a smaller scale in scenes like this. And it's fascinating how the mission isn't always the clear-cut winner anymore. Sure, early on, we had Twilight sabotaging the Eden entry interview, but that was a moment of passion inspired by his whole "not wanting children to cry" deal. In other words, fuelled by some of his own trauma. In the recent chapters though, he's had time to think and justify before he acts. But the pendulum is still swinging towards his family when given the chance.

#spy x family #sxf manga spoilers #admittedly whilst I like that he's starting to choose his family more I think sxf has a more nuanced approach to the whole deal #if you spend your time saving the world but not your family then you're still neglecting them. And on the other side #if you say you want to be there for your family bc you don't want to see children cry? Well if there's war then your family will suffer #sxf seems to push for the idea that these two wings should work in tandem. it's not being there for your family OR working for world peace #one doesn't work without the other. and yeah they're on two entirely different scales of magnitude if you take a step back but #they feed into each other? the mission IS important (war would tear apart families) but so is being there WITH them.

My headcanons on what each of the spider-kids parental name(s) for Miguel would be.

Miles

• Tìo of course.

• Papà.

• Work dad.™ I've seen this being used a few times and it's so canon lol.

• Mamà araña (spider mom) I read a fic with this nickname and I find it so cute.

Gwen

• Dad.

• Spider dad.

• On very rare occasions mom; she's more comfortable using dad though. (She feels guilty about calling Miguel mom, like she's replacing her old mother.)

Noir (he's 19)

• Father. Noir gives off vibes of someone who uses formal names 24/7 with older people. (Plus he's dramatic)

• Pops but only when he's emotional or drugged up on pain medication.

• Mother if he's in spider mode.

Margo

• Dad but in a teasing sort of way.

• Work dad; she doesn't care that it's trademark by Miles.

• Mom but in a I don't have emotionally healthy parents that don't fight all the time and you're my only semi stable parental figure I have to look up to sort of way.

Peni

• She just mostly uses Miguel's name or boss but she has called him dad a few times.

Hobie

• Old man. (Affectionately)

• Boss mom but he's being a little shit about it. Stole this nickname from a comic.

• Called him dad by accident once and he tried not throwing himself immediately out the window from his sheer embarrassment afterwards. (He failed)

• Mum if he's feeling vulnerable enough.

• Work dad™ but only because he wants to mess with Miles' trademark.

Pavitr

• Out of all of the spider-kids Pav seems the most emotionally healthy? That's not saying a lot but still. So in my mind he doesn't have enough parental issues to consider Miguel his parent. I think he would only call Miguel boss mom, but it's because he picked it up from Hobie.

• To him Miguel is more like a grumpy old uncle who's really cool.

Here is an extra headcanon for the people that read to the end ✨ or just scrolled down to the bottom of the post. 😒

• Peter b. called Miguel dad once in the middle of a villain fight. They both just stared at each other and immediately agreed to never bring it up again. Peter is still mortified he did that to this day.

Asriel & Toriel | Chara & Asgore

So, we all know the Dreemurr family loved each other very much.

However, parents and kids can have favorites, and I believe that Asriel and Toriel / Chara and Asgore were specially close. 

Here’s proof for each duo (that I got from memory):

Asriel & Toriel:

- Asriel/Flowey, even after trying really hard and failing every time, really believed that being with TORIEL would make him feel love again, feel like himself again. And I think that says a lot.

To be honest while I searched through screenshots, Toriel seems to love her children pretty equally (she is THE goat mom so I get it). But Asriel definitely seems to have been closer to her than his father (not that he doesn’t love him as well of course).

- Toriel obviously still misses Asriel deeply, and has a lot of regrets. She is a bit too drunk in this scene but I like to think she managed to recognize Asriel in flowey somewhat. But that’s more like self indulgence on my part.

-  Asriel/Flowey still loves Toriel very much. Even before Frisk fell into the underground and he still had his view of “kill or be killed” - he still was empathetic enough to give her a glass of water everytime she passed out. So he cares, always have, just doesnt want to admit it. 

(I would also mention how Flowey still hanged around in the ruins all the time. Some would say he was just waiting for humans to fall down or something, but I say he just liked to be around Toriel and I will die on this hill).

- I always found it interesting how Asriel hesitates before saying Toriel’s name here. Of course, he didn’t mention Asgore because Frisk didn’t spend that much time with him but considering previous proof, I’d like to include this here anyway.

Annnnd that’s all I could find (from memory) for them! Feel free to add to this!

Chara & Asgore:

Surprisingly for me, I found a lot! Really thought it was gonna be the other way around here.

- They both seem to have a great love for flowers and gardening! They probably bonded a lot through it.

- Asgore specifically recalling the “feeling of hope” in Chara’s eyes. I thought it was sweet :)!

- It’s heavily implied that Chara was the one that made the sweater. Asriel could have helped, but considering that in the No-Mercy run, Chara doesn’t have a special comment towards the macaroni art that was also made for Asgore - you could safely assume that Asriel made the macaroni art and Chara made the sweater. It was also probably very big and a lot of work, Asgore is a very big monster after all.

- Flowey being extremely sure that Asgore would show the souls to Chara, even after not showing it to Asriel (since that was probably one of the ways Flowey tried to get to them). You can argue it would be because Chara/Frisk would be the last human and Asgore would show it when fighting them..but it doesn’t really fit with the way Flowey says it I think, it was very specifically Chara.

- Chara and Asgore shared love for tea... and how Asgore’s favorite tea is the golden flower tea. Since golden flowers only bloomed in the underground after Asriel and Chara died, and it was Chara’s favorite flower, They probably told Asgore about how you can make tea with them and reccomended it to him. I wish they could have enjoyed it together.

- And also how Chara’s favorite flower is literally everywhere in new home.

I was mulling over everyone’s least favourite Mercyverse villain (Christy, who makes no fucking sense on any level) trying to figure out how to redeem that plot line and it occurred to me that what we really need here is a story from the perspective of Kyle, divorce lawyer at large, observing a character who is clearly meant to be a weapons-grade NPD type.

(Actually, come to think of it, I’d read whole books of Kyle, actually functional adult gay dude who has Done The Work of addressing his family trauma, observing werewolf marriages with a bucket of popcorn. He could do a podcast with guest speakers. Peggy or Honey could co-host.)
