Okay but the Water's Edge job with Blackwood Company fucks me up so much. There's no weird visual effect to suggest that anything you see isn't real, there's just a bunch of goblins around the place and hey, killing goblins is something you do a lot in this game. To your character, there's no reason for them to doubt that what they see is completely real and no reason for them to hold back.

But then you go back after being brought to Modryn and you find the bodies of these innocent people lying where they fell and the realisation hits: you did this. Those 'goblins' you killed were in fact a bunch of unarmed civilians that you helped to massacre for no real benefit. An entire settlement wiped out, save a lone father who has no idea that you played a part in the destruction of his home.

It's so fucked up, and it really illustrates just how terrible things will get if Blackwood Company is left unchecked, and why the Fighter's Guild's principals are so important. It doesn't just protect the guild's reputation, it protects innocent people from being slaughtered for no good reason.
