renovated, unrenovated, partially renovated. mortar-white on berlin's brown-grey facades. yes, they even still exist in berlin mitte. that makes the city likeable when you visit it, although it's not my favourite german city to live in. but as I said, visiting and flâneuring for a while is totally ok.

35mm: it's classic for a reason.

The growth of the arts, as Ernst Gombrich writes in The Story of Art, is not one of progress and improvement, of bettering, but of change: with new movements and technologies some things are lost, and some things are gained. Nothing is ever any better or worse. Much is the same for photography. Newer, digital methods allow for unlimited photos, lighter equipment, a fast-learning process, more pictures to be captured at one time, to be developed and produced instantly, and are generally cheaper. Not to mention easy editing after shooting. This only tells part of the story, however, as #35mm film photography is so dearly beloved for a reason. There is a unique magic, character, and mystery to these images that are a little lost with newer technologies. 

Only we are preaching to the converted, as Tumblr's formidable community of photographers is in staunch agreement. 35mm happens to be trending today, offering a delightful selection of images of light, color, shapes, and shade that only the eye of the most adept flaneur could capture. You spoil us, you really do.
