WORLD CLASS SINNER - FRANK CASTLE
Tumblr media
one - deja vu
tags: n/a two // masterlist // MAD AT GOD (DD CANON)
welcome back to the MAG universe! this time around we are rolling through the Punisher series. i’m so excited to develop her friendship with Frank and see what happens between her and Billy!
Pairing: Billy x Reader (casual), Frank x Reader (platonic)
Word Count: 5, 728
Summary: Being back in the Kitchen almost immediately pulls her back into a fight. But without Matt, what has she become?
You moved over quickly, using Luke as footing to jump from after he knocked her into a short spin so she faced away from you. You moved in a fluid motion to connect the wires between your wrists as you hooked one leg over her shoulders and jammed the other against her spine. You leaned forward enough to get the wire across her throat before you dropped to land on your feet.
She was quick to flip her sai in her grip and slam it through your thigh. Your leg buckled and she used the chance to free herself, spinning to slam her foot against the side of your head. You fell to your back with a wet thump and you pushed to your elbows, craning your neck to see her weapon skewering your thigh. The red stained tip poked through and any movement sent a sharp pain through your body, eminating deep within your bone. She dared to move closer and you kicked the opposing foot against her chest.
Once that foot landed back on the ground, the pain on the other side made you cry out. You managed to drag yourself to your feet and stood unsteadily, hopping on your good leg to try and maintain balance. You reached awkwardly behind yourself for your staffs, having to connect them quickly and use them as a cane for the moment.
“You’ll die down here with us.” Elektra’s voice taunted you, though she was no where to be seen. “As you should.”
You hobbled in a small circle while you tried to find where the voice was coming from. But there was no one, not even the ghost of footsteps or shuffles to give her away. The rest of your group was gone, as if they never came down with you. Not even the elevator.
Hadn’t they just been there?
The tunnels around you stretched as far as you could see, dripping and collecting small puddles. Your labored breathing filled the silence between drips and you felt something eerily out of place about the whole thing.
“Come on then.” You challenged weakly. A deep breathe before you screamed into the wet darkness. “Come out and kill me!”
“Y/N.” He said calmly and you spun so fast you nearly slipped in the water. But when you glanced down to find your footing, you were in a puddle of blood. All of the water had turned to blood. You closed your eyes tightly and shook your head, assuming it was your own mania creeping in, but when you opened them the sight hadn’t changed.
“This is what you wanted.” He used the same eerily calm tone, even as the ground shook beneath your feet.
“You should’ve left.” You said angrily as the drips began to land on your forehead. “You shouldn’t be here, Matt.”
“Then why didn’t you keep him safe?” Elektra appeared at his side, walking around him like a predator taunting her prey. Her fingers trailed along the back of his shoulders.
But even in the dim light, neither of them looked like themselves. They were soaking wet and it looked it was water on their bodies, but it reflected red once it hit the ground. Their skins were tinted blue, cyanotic to match their puffy lips and swollen bodies. Their eyes were hollow, sunken in and hardly even there. Everytime their mouths open, blood spilled. They looked like corpses that had been left at the bottom of the river for months to decay in silence.
“I tried.” You answered but the sound barely registered.
Your eye suddenly stung and when you reached to wipe it, your hand came back with fresh red blood. The scar above your eye, the deep gash your mask left from your fight with Fisk, was now fresh and seeping into your eye. The scar on your cheekbone stained the lower half of your face. Your chest snapped and the cartilage fell loose and the old cracks in your ribs fell open. One by one, old injuries became fresh again and each one felt like a hit to your stamina, to your strength, until you fell back to your knees.
Elektra appeared in front of you now, reaching with a sadistic smile for her sai that still dripped with your blood. You tried to back away but landed against Matt, who moved quickly to pin you to the ground. You struggled against him, but he leaned more of his weight against you and left you flailing and kicking.
“Matt? Matt, what are you doing?” You said in a panic but your own blood filled your mouth.
Elektra twisted the weapon in your leg and you screamed out, a gurggled sound that nearly choked you. You kicked your other foot at her but it moved through her, as if she was never really there.
“You’ll die. Painfully.” She threatened before a second sai appeared in her hands.
She climbed over your body, knees on either side of your ribs as she lined her weapon with the center of your chest. By then you were crying, hair sticking to your face and thrashing your body under her weight. But she didn’t move. Matt didn’t move. Instead, they offered each other wicked smiles before both looking down at you.
“You could’ve saved me, Y/N/N… Why didn’t you?” Matt asked.
You opened your mouth to answer but before your voice could find you, Elektra’s weapon began to press into your chest.
Breaking the skin earned a whine.
Her jamming the heel of her hand against it to break through your sternum drew a groan.
Her slow, intentional pressure against your heart earned a plead.
“I can fix this.” You tried, barely a whisper above the shattering thuds of collapsing rock.
“If you could’ve…” She said lowly, leaning forward to meet your panicked eyes, dripping blood from her lips. “You would’ve already.”
Your eyes went wide at the wet sound of the sai piercing your heart.
———————————————————————————————————————
You shot up in your bed and a hand instantly moved to your cheek. The skin was clear of blood but covered in a layer of sweat. You felt above your brow and found the same. With a small noise of stress, you threw your comforter back and shuffled to the bathroom. A hand was rubbing the center of your chest, haunted by the tip of Elektra’s weapon.
You flipped the light, squinting through it for a minute until your eyes adjusted. You planted both hands against the countertop and leaned in to see the faint lines of scars around your eye. The subtle discolorations that followed the shape of your mask, permanent memories of your time as a vigilante, of that hole deep inside you that you couldn’t quite fill. Quantico had done very little towards that gaping feeling, that hole somewhere too deep for you reach that felt like it would swallow you everyday.
You thought that FBI training, getting away from the Kitchen, would maybe be good for you. It’d be time to breathe, maybe even grieve. But those words didn’t seem to mean anything to you anymore. It just felt like they were adding to that depth, sucking out any remnants of progress you had made.
Maybe coming home wasn’t going to be any better.
You blew out a sigh and splashed your face with cold water, a contrast to the heat that seemed to live in your blood now. You felt warm, everywhere you went. No matter the temperature outside, you were boiling inside. But if someone were to touch your skin, they’d never know.
That was who you were now. Not Y/N. Not even Exodus. You were someone else. Someone with Y/N’s memories and tendencies, with Exodus’ mania and skills, but other things were left unaccounted for. Who’s morals did you maintain? Who’s relationships were important?
Who’s heart beat in your chest? Who’s blood was in your veins?
But if you thought about it too long, Matt’s voice would creep into your thoughts. Random things he had told you throughout the time you knew him. Empty promises he made to Exodus. Honest sentiment he gave to Y/N. The last words you heard him say.
You shoved those thoughts to a deep corner of your mind as you headed back to the living room. The chest in the closet seemed to call out to you. The chest full of boxing memorabilia pertaining to Matt’s father, some of his own collection and some you were able to add for him, one of his bibles, and the false bottom that allowed him to hide his suit.
The suit that would never be there again.
You sighed and shook your head before heading to your bedroom to find clothes for the day. You might as well get ready since you knew your mind wasn’t going to let you sleep again anytime soon.
Wasting as much time as you could, you got ready and headed out into the city. You had been back from Quantico for about a week and you were trying to settle back into the Kitchen, but the nightmare of Midland haunted you every night. It was a little different everytime, sometimes the words they spoke to you changed and once it was Matt that killed you with your own blade, but it always the same premise. The three of you, everything coated in blood, and you died.
It was either your conscious gnawing at you and refusing to let you escape, even in sleep, or it was the universe telling you that death would find you. Either way, it never left your mind.
As you were out, you saw Matt in every face. Everywhere you went, you saw him. You almost called his name a few times until you got a better look and remembered he was dead. It felt like you were losing yourself in the grief, in the hopes that it was all a bad dream. Maybe you were still dreaming?
But then someone bumped your shoulder walking by and you knew you weren’t. Weeks had passed and you still couldn’t fully stomach the fact that he was gone. In your mind, you just wanted him there and he was everywhere but nowhere all at once.
You were wandering your usual streets, fighting through the relentless deja vu, stopping at one of the few lunch spots you missed, and ended up at the only building you thought could help. It was one of the few places you didn’t avoid prior to your time away, and now, maybe it was the only chance to cool the blaze under your skin. To fill the hole.
You walked in with a shaky breath and found Father Lantom outside the confessional, talking to one of the nuns with hushed urgency. But as you approached, he sent the nun away and turned to you with a small but welcoming smile. He gestured to the small, private conversation box and you simply nodded. He stepped inside first and you followed suit into your side about a minute later.
“Good to have you back.” Father Lantom said after a short silence. “How was your training?”
“Good, yeah, it was good.” You answered simply. “Dex said everything went really well so now it’s just waiting for approval or something, I don’t really remember…”
“It was quick.”
“Yeah, it was a specialty.. Accelerated… Accelerated program.” Your eyes fell and you noticed you were wringing your fingers. Since when did you do that? “Look, Father, I don’t know if there’s something I’m supposed to say to start this but…”
“Whatever you need to say, Y/N.” He offered genuinely. “Whenever you’re ready to say it.”
“I keep having this nightmare, Elektra and Matt and me. Under Midland and we all die together… Usually El does it but Matt’s done it too, killed me. And I thought being away would make it easier. But it feels worse… I can’t sleep. I hardly eat. I just feel empty.”
“Have you ever felt anything like this before?”
“When I was younger, when I realized what I was going to have to do in the Red Room. I didn’t feel like a person…”
“Hmm..”
“But then I got out and out of nowhere I meet Matt and suddenly… It was like my heart was beating in my chest for the first time.” You couldn’t fight the sad smile that stretched your lips. “Now, it’s like anytime I think about him, my heart can’t beat. It’s just there, weighing down my chest like a rock.”
“When Matt would first tell me about his night activities, he was so twisted up about some of the things he found.” He spoke carefully, treading a fine line between breaking the seal of confession and finding the details that he hoped would offer you comfort. “Some of the things he had seen, what some people in this town were capable of…”
“People like me?”
“No. He never spoke unkindly about you, even before he knew.”
That seemed to fill the hole a little but the blaze remained.
“Yeah, he wasn’t the type…” You sniffled. “Were you able to help him?”
“What I offered wasn’t the help he needed. I could offer bible verses and quotes to him every day, but he knew them all. He knew the stories and the psalms as easy as he knew his way here.”
“So what’d you say?”
“I told him to listen to his heart, because his had always been good. Angry and hurt, yes, but also good.”
“I’ve never felt this alone.” You spoke, a distance in your voice as you stared at the wood door in front of you. “I’ve been left before, by others and by my own choice. I’ve sabotaged my life to a point where I had to be alone and I’ve sacrificed my lifestyle to protect people around… I don’t want to feel this again.”
“Feeling these kinds of things is what makes us human.”
“Yeah..” You nodded, finding the familiar mental ledge that could take it all away. That could turn it all off so it didn’t matter, that would let Y/N rest. All you had to do… Was give her… A little push. “Maybe that humanity is the issue.”
“Guilt is a good thing.. It’s a soul’s call to action, the innate feeling that something is wrong. The only way to rid yourself of it is to correct your mistakes.”
“Correct my mistakes…” You repeated slowly. “I can’t correct this one… Not the way I’d need to. But I know how to get rid of these feelings.”
“Y/N?” He asked quickly and the concern was palpable in his voice.
“Thanks, Father… It’s been nice catching up.”
And with that, you left the church. You took a deep breathe when you stepped out, the crisp New York air hitting you as soon as you stepped out. There was something freeing in that breath. The heat still blazed with every beat of your stoned heart, leaving a trail of warmth through your veins. The hole still lived in your soul but now you fed it, all the sorrow and despair and loneliness was shoved into the hole. It didn’t fill it by any means, but it satisfied it enough that it wouldn’t swallow you whole. It allowed you to live, and for now that was enough.
The rest of your day was relatively uneventful. You went home for a while and did some reorganzing. You cleaned up some of Matt’s leftover belongings that you were unable to touch before. You even started a pile of things that you figured you should donate. Someone else in the Kitchen could probably use some of those suits.
You took down some photos and put them in the closet with his chest. You even took down that painting from the art gallery you bought. It was the red one Vanessa had showed you. You bought it because you had liked it. It made you think of the Man in the Mask and how turbulent your relationship was but now that he was gone, it was just another token of a dead life. So you shoved it away as well.
You cleaned some of the things you had been neglecting and began to feel like you were actually getting some sort of normalcy back. It wasn’t the normalcy that Matt would’ve wanted for you. You could recognize that, but you never expected to have that anyway. You never had the normalcy he wanted for you when he wasn’t around, so you felt no requirement to find it now that he was gone. And maybe you owed it to his memory to live a real life, live a life of peace, but that was never part of you.
It was later that night when you realized what day it was.
Curtis’ support group for veterans.
You were always welcomed there, ever since you started with Anvil. He never made you talk but the option was always there. And you did, occasionally, if only to shut down one of the other guys. There was a certain respect from Curtis that you didn’t find in other people. He knew you were from an ‘elite covert kill squad’ since childhood but he didn’t ask other questions. He didn’t need to know everything to know that you were lost. It was refreshing and you liked to stay after official sessions to talk about whatever you were thinking or feeling.
But glancing at the time, it was too late for that. So you shrugged it off and decided you’d go next time. At least to say hello to an old friend, the least judgemental one you had left. Instead, you decided you’d go to the bookstore and add to your to-be-read collection while continuing to ignore texts from everyone that knew you.
It wasn’t long until alleged vigilantism found it’s way to you. That next morning, stories of an assault at a construction zone hit your ears. Bodies found under fresh concrete with more blunt force injuries than they should’ve had. Then, estimated to be a few hours later, a hit against a prominent crime family.
It had a familiarity to it that you couldn’t quite place, but it gave you an odd sense of comfort. There was the haunt of concern in your bones, as if you worried that there was something left unanswered within you, but Matt took that part with him. When he died, so did that part of you that wanted to do something good. That wanted to help the neighborhood you loved. You liked the fact that someone else was handling it for you, but you’d be lying if you said it didn’t vaguely set off an old itch that liked to be scratched. An old manic, sadistic, worrisome itch that could easily spiral to a full blown bloodbath.
So instead, you carried on with your day. You went to the grocery store to refill your fridge and your pantry. You bought some new clothes, more fitting for an FBI agent, and got some plastic totes to put away some of Matt’s things. The things you didn’t want to look at but couldn’t quite bring yourself to get rid of.
While you were out, you decided to stop by an old warehouse. You weren’t even sure if he would be there, but it was the only starting point you had. You knocked lightly on the door before heading inside, watching the corners and dark shadows carefully.
“Melvin.” You called out when you saw the vague shape of a man sweeping in the corner. “I just wanna talk.”
“Whoever you are, I don’t talk.” He said sharply, coming into full view with a wrench gripped tightly in his hands. “Just go on back the way you came and this never happened.”
“We had a mutual friend.” You said simply, lifting your head a little. “Our Man in the Mask.”
“Shit.” He breathed, slowly dropping the wrench. “I uh, heard he’s gone… That true?”
“Yeah. Your suit protected him from a lot but couldn’t withstand a falling building.”
“Shit.” He said again.
“Mmm.” You agreed. “I came to ask you for something. A vest. Clean lines, simple build. Something I can wear daily, under my normal clothes.”
“Guess that makes you Exodus, huh?” He broke into a small smile that didn’t last. “Sorry but I don’t do that anymore.”
“Yeah, I figured… Neither do I, not really. Ever since Red went down, I…” You took a deep breath. “I got a good job lined up, just need a little something.”
He sighed heavily and turned to the ceiling before facing you again.
“I’ll do you a favor, just this once cause your friend always kept his word. But don’t expect anything else.” He said firmly, pointing a finger at you.
“One and done.” You nodded.
“Alright.. Ah jeez, okay. Your measurements the same? Red and black still?”
“Yeah, pretty much.” You looked at your arms and chest. “And uh, no. No red.”
“C’mon.” He guffawed. “You and Daredevil were partners. You don’t want anything to remember him?”
“Just do whatever.” You shrugged. “How much?”
“It’s on me. I never charged your buddy so… Just gimme a day or two. I’ll get you something nice.”
“I appreciate it.” You offered a smile, though you didn’t quite mean it. “Thanks, Melvin.”
“Yeah, yeah.” He waved you off. “Don’t ask me for nothing. Alright? I mean it.”
“I get it.” You insisted as you backed towards the door. “Looking forward to it.”
Later that day, not long after you had unloaded all of your groceries, a hard knock sounded at your door. You ignored it, assuming it was just your friends coming to see if you were home yet. Either that, some kids screwing around, or it was just someone from your past coming to kill you. Who exactly was out to get you at that point, you weren’t sure, but there were enough skeletons in your closet that hadn’t fallen out yet. So you went about your business until the door flew open and someone rushed in.
Calmly, you grabbed the gun you tucked between the fridge and wall and turned to face whoever was in your apartment. You gripped it comfortably and cleared your throat, seeing them turn with a sharp gasp. Your brows raised expectantly and Karen’s hands shot up instantly.
“God, Y/N, you scared me.” She breathed before covering a hand to her chest. “How long have you been back?”
“How often do you come into my apartment?” You asked instead, lowering the gun but not putting it down.
“I just-” She tried to explain but her eyes kept falling to the gun. “Can you put that down, please?”
“Don’t trust me anymore?” You raised your brows before tucking the gun into the back of your waistband. “Answer my question.”
“Has he reached out to you?” She asked instead.
“I’m not playing games, Karen. If you have something to tell me, then spit it out and get out of my apartment. If you only came here to fuck around…”
“Frank.” She said quickly. “Frank’s back.”
“Explains the news.” You tilted your head in acknowledgement. “What’d he come to you for?”
“Something about some Micro, a guy that came after him recently. Knows who he is, that he’s alive.”
“Micro… This guy have a real name?”
“David Lieberman, NSA analyst that is officially shot dead by Homeland Security a year ago.”
“Only he’s not.” You nodded. “Okay. Where’s Frank now?”
“I don’t know.”
“Is he going after Lieberman?” You closed your eyes and rubbed your forehead, weighing the pros and cons of you getting involved.
“Probably… But Frank said he’s a- He’s a spook. How would he find him?”
“Well, he wouldn’t go for him directly, but someone that knows him or is relevant to him just might work to draw him out. What other names did you work out?”
“Carson Wolf got the whole story cut, could be something there.”
“Probably.. Name sounds familiar.” You felt the scales tilting back and forth in your brain. “Why did you come and tell me about this?”
“Because I-” She hesitated, as if she had just noticed your reaction. “He doesn’t really seem like he wants me involved.”
“So you want me to go run into a fight I know nothing about?” You dropped your hand against your leg with a smack and opened your eyes. “Don’t you think if Frank wanted my help, he would’ve came to me himself?”
“Maybe he didn’t know where to find you.” She offered, clearly searching for anything to convince you.
“Or maybe he didn’t care enough to find me.” You countered with a shrug. But seeing the desperation in her eyes, feeling the plead in her bones, you sighed heavily. “I’ll think about it… I’ll look into Lieberman, maybe there’s a wife or siblings or something. And this Wolf guy, I think I heard his name around Quantico so I guess I can pull some strings in that direction.”
“Thank you.” She let out a sharp exhale, as if she had been holding her breath for your response. “Have you told Foggy you’re back?”
“No.” You turned away to busy yourself in your kitchen. “Haven’t told anyone.”
“I’m sure he’d love to see you.” She tried gently. You noticed the hesitation in her words and realized she was walking on eggshells, completely unsure of how stable you were. “Or at least hear from you.”
“The last conversation we had was an argument.” You admitted, though your voice lacked the remorse it should’ve had and it was too late to add it in now. “And he flinched away from me… He told me that if I wanted to get myself killed, I was more than welcome to as long as I didn’t try to blame anyone other than myself for it.”
Her mouth opened and closed in silence, like she was chomping at the air while she tried to find a response. Finally, her voice found her and it was the same response you expected.
“He had to have still been in shock.”
“He had more than enough time to get over it.”
“I know he wouldn’t say that to you and mean it.” She reasoned.
“Yeah, just like Matt never would’ve said half of what he said to me during the Castle trial, right?” Your brows raised in accusation and you saw her expression drop. “Yeah, sometimes pain or shock bring out what people really mean.”
“Y/N-”
“Doesn’t matter.” You cut in firmly. “Next time you see Frank, ask him if he wants my help. In the meantime, I’ll poke around and start building some intel.”
“Thanks.” She forced a tight smile. “And I’ll talk to Foggy, if you want me to.”
You simply shrugged.
“He’s one of your best friends, isn’t he?” She asked gently, scared for what your answer would be.
“Most of the people I’ve called friends have grown to hate me for one reason or another… I guess I always knew I’d add Foggy to that list one of these days.” You answered flatly.
“C’mon, Y/N.” She tried again.
“Better that than dead… You can go now.”
With a small gesture of defeat, she left. And you wondered if you were going to regret getting involved.
Some quick research into Lieberman showed he did leave a family behind, a wife and two kids. You had no intentions of hurting them but should there be a need, you had blackmail material. He was allegedly shot dead by Homeland after resisting arrest. There was nothing about why he was wanted by Homeland, nor was there anything about his career. But he was NSA, so there should’ve been something other than a passing mention.
That all just meant someone wanted it to go away, and that someone was likely this Carson Wolf character.
You thought about going over to the address you could find for Sarah Lieberman but you assumed Frank would’ve been there already. And two unfamiliar visitors in one day would’ve triggered some sort of concern in the wife, who you had to assume was helping hide her undead husband until you knew otherwise. Instead, you wrote down the address and looked into Carson Wolf. You found that he was one of the higher ups at Homeland Security. It was an interesting connection that you’d have to poke at later.
With a little digging, you also found some information on the construction site incident. There was a feature on the company’s webpage about a new employee, which was asterisked as inactive the day after the bodies were found. There was no picture on the page but you could only assume that Pete Castiglione was the one and only, Frank Castle.
You decided to get out of the house and headed out to get something to drink. You passed by Josie’s and thought about going in. But when you reached the door, you were hit with one of many memories of you and Matt in that place so you had to pass. You passed other bars as you wandered and none really seemed inviting. Eventually, your feet grew tired of aimlessly moving so you settled on a bar you had been to with Billy a few times. Low and behold, Billy was already there.
You felt his eyes following you as you passed by, taking a seat at the bar a few seats down. You ordered your drink and when it came out, you spun the liquid around the glass, listening vaguely to Billy talking about his service and Frank.
The woman kept asking questions pertaining to Frank and their conversation held your interest. Without making it obvious, you noted what she was asking.
Did he get dirty? Could he have been involved in drugs over there?
But why ask questions about a dead man? Who was she?
The gears in your brain were turning when you heard Billy’s question.
“So you’re single?” He asked, clear flirting in his tone. Your head cocked slightly and your brow raised, noticing he was already looking at you for a reaction. He laughed and tilted his bottle towards you but you simply smiled and shook your head.
He went back to his flirting and you rolled your eyes slightly at his next remark. But you did hear a name.
Special Agent Madani.
You could tell she was either going to be one hell of an obstacle or one hell of an ally.
You watched her leave and then decided to slide into her seat.
“Billy Russo, always the player.” You teased with a sly smile and he grinned. “How’ve you been? Lonely?”
“Y/N Y/L/N.” He said happily. “And here I thought I’d never see you again.”
“Well, Quantico was fun but I got bored.” You shrugged playfully. “Knew everything they wanted to teach me.”
“Yeah, I bet you did..” He nodded, never dropping that sly smile. “Bet you made one hell of an impression too.”
“Don’t I always?”
“Yes, you do… Y’know, I missed you.”
“You did not.” You scoffed lightly, gesturing to the bartender for a second drink. “Judging by your latest visitor.”
“Ah, I see what this is.” He chuckled. “You’re jealous.”
“In your dreams, Russo.” You rolled your eyes with an amused smile. “Who was that anyways? She was asking a lot of questions…”
“Dinah Madani.” He answered simply. “Homeland agent that brought a team through Anvil earlier.”
“Homeland, huh?” You turned towards the door even though she was long gone. “Interesting…”
“Why?”
When you didn’t answer, he reached for your chin and turned your face towards him.
“What’s goin’ on in that head of yours?” His eyes darted between yours as he tried to figure you out, but you knew he never would. Not in any way that would mean anything.
“Just curious why a Homeland agent is asking about a dead man is all…” You shrugged. “And it’s a pattern.”
“Oh, it’s a pattern.” He said with a nod, acting as if it explained everything. “What does the pattern tell you?”
“That you like women in power.” You answered plainly. “Me, now in the FBI and everything else I’ve done. Madani, in Homeland with what I would assume is solid standing. Next thing you know, you’re gonna bed a senator.”
“I’ll still come back to my best girl.” He smiled, tapping under your chin with a click of his tongue.
“Yeah, like there was any competition.” You chuckled.
“When’d you get back?” He nodded towards you, decidingly dropping your previous conversation topic.
“Week ago. I thought about coming by, decided not to.” A slight shrug of your shoulder.
“Why not?” He almost sounded hurt.
“Just tired. Needed sound time to settle in.”
“Yeah?” He leaned in slightly and raised his brows. “How about we spend some quality time tonight then, hmm? You got any other plans?”
“Hmm.” The corner of your mouth lifted to a small smile. “I’ll have to check my schedule, Mr. Russo.”
He clicked his tongue and leaned back, wagging his finger at you with an amused smirk of his own. “I missed hearing you say that, pretty lady.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.” You nodded and sipped your drink.
You spent a little while longer drinking with Billy, catching up and teasing each other playfully. It was almost enough for you to forget what you had been asked earlier that night, to involve yourself in Frank’s latest crusade that he likely expected to cover on his own. Finding Frank would’ve been easy enough if you had a general direction to go in, but where could be? Would he be going after Micro or would he be taunting Micro to go after him again?
If this guy was as much a spook as Karen’s been led to believe, it wouldn’t be easy to draw him out. But knowing Frank, he would find a way to pull him out of his hidey-hole. Which meant you could follow your own leads tonight and potentially meet him, or you could worry about it tomorrow and waste a night with an old fling.
Billy was tempting… And Frank would be fine for one more night, wherever he was.

Summary: I feel like the title of this makes the summary self-explanatory. This is four times Frank almost asks you to marry him, and then the one time he actually does it.
(Warnings: vigilante!reader (similar to Black Cat, but not actually Black Cat lol), socialiate!reader, mentions of cuts/blood/bruising - the usual Frank stuff, mentions of grief/death, guns, soft!FrankCastle, a wild Matt Murdock briefly makes an appearance)
The first time Frank almost asked you to marry him was after he’d shown up on your doorstep, beaten and battered to high hell. You’d ushered him in the door, still wiping the sleep from your eyes. It was almost four in the morning, and you had to be up in two hours to get ready for a meeting with your agent, but you didn’t complain to him about it once.
You did, however, tear him a new one for patrolling without backup. He tried to hide his grin as you stitched a particularly nasty cut up, being so gentle with your hands and so stern with your mouth.
“Frank, it’s dangerous. I mean,” you shook your head and grabbed another piece of gauze, “you could’ve called, you know? I would’ve met you somewhere. Watched your back. Shot a few guys.” You shot him a pointed look as you focused your attention on a small cut under his jaw.
“I didn’t want to bother you unless I had to. You have work soon, sweetheart.”
“I don’t care. Better for me to be tired than for you to be dead in a ditch somewhere.”
He watched you as you moved from injury to injury, cleaning, patching, and even suturing a few cuts. Your fluidity was graceful and enamoring, something Frank adored about you. How it looked like you flowed from room to room, barely placing your feet on the ground before you were already taking your next step. How you could take out a team of trained gunmen without ever having to touch the ground. And when you turned that graceful attention on him, he was a goner. He had never felt something as gentle as your hands, except maybe your love for him.
You began to clean up your bathroom counter, scooping empty gauze packages into your trash can. He rose to help you, but your stern gaze had him promptly sitting back down.
He murmured your name, intent on grasping your full attention so that he could tell you just how much he loved you. How his heart ached for you when you weren’t with him. How your love had burrowed its way into his soul, healing the missing piece of his heart. He would always love Maria and his kids, but he also knew he couldn’t sustain himself on anger and vengeance forever.
A knock sounded at the door before he could figure out where to begin. You made your way to the door, grabbing your gun off your side table before looking through the peephole. Frank was right behind you, hand resting on your waist, ready to pull you aside if the person at the door meant any harm.
You sighed, uncocking your gun and opening the door.
“Hey Devil Man.” You smiled. Frank narrowed his eyes at the man dressed in red.
“I smelt blood.” You nodded, like Matt’s timing wasn’t completely inconvenient, and opened the door wider, inviting him in.
“Since the whole gang is here, I’ll put on a pot of coffee.”
You walked into the kitchen, tinkering around for coffee mugs and creamer. Frank continued to glare at Matt, who was grinning wide like a cat.
“Cockblock,” Frank grumbled, rolling his eyes.
//
The second time Frank almost asked you to marry him, you were standing over an unconscious Russian mob member, panting because you had just whacked said Russian in the temple with your gun.
“That’s what I thought you said,” you huffed, stomping away from the guy, who was tied to a chair and missing most of his clothing.
Frank hadn’t expected you to lash out the way you did. The Russian was going on and on about Maria, Lisa, and Frank Jr., saying they deserved what they got, calling them weak. Frank was beyond letting some mobster rile him up about his past, but it apparently didn’t sit right with you.
You had stalked towards him, predator stalking prey, and asked him to repeat himself, a little louder so you could hear him. The guy had said three words before you raised the gun and smashed it into the side of his head.
Frank grinned, watching you stomp around and mumble to yourself. He heard parts of your rant; picked out words like “common decency” and “how dare he”.
“What’s so funny, big bad punisher?” You raised an eyebrow at him.
“’s nothing, sweetheart. I just love you.” He averted his eyes from yours out of habit, but you didn’t mind. Frank’s been betrayed so many times in his life that allowing himself to be vulnerable and trust anyone was a feat, let alone confessing his love for you so openly. You returned his smile, leaning over to poor a bucket of water on the Russian, who came to kicking and sputtering.
‘Right,’ Frank thought, ‘back to work.”
//
The third time Frank almost asked you to marry him, he was sitting on the floor of your apartment, watching you answer questions on the morning news. You were pretty well known around New York. Your parents, who were wealthy real estate investors, had left you everything they owned in their will, which skyrocketed your status among New York socialites. If only they knew what you got up to once the sun went down.
A photo of the two of you holding hands outside of a bar was leaked online, causing all kinds of controversy among the elites. Your relationship with Frank had been kept from the public, which served both of you guys well, but when the photo had been released, your agent demanded that you make a statement, denying any type of relationship with him.
Frank had walked you to the door that morning, kissing you on your forehead and telling you to do whatever you needed to do. He wouldn’t let elite assholes hurt his feelings or his relationship with you.
You walked on set confidently; chin held high as you were bombarded with questions about your relationship with the vigilante Frank Castle. You cleared your throat, silencing the questions.
“I know you have many questions. I wish I could say I cared enough to answer them,” you paused, “My privacy has been violated. A private moment that I was sharing with my partner has been turned into a...a shitshow, really.” Your voice was crisp as it came through the tv speakers. The corners of Frank’s lips turned up. You had just cursed on live television, and that wasn’t even the worst thing you had done yet today.
“Frank Castle is not a bad man.” Your firm voice boomed across the silent set. “Frank Castle was abandoned by his country. The country that he served, with honor, for eight years. The country that slaughtered his family in broad daylight.”
Frank swallowed thickly. This was not on the script your agent had sent you.
“I think most of you don’t even care that I’m dating Frank. You just want a story that will sell papers.” You rolled your eyes. "Anyways, my point is, if any of you went through what Frank went through, you would wish you had the courage to do the same thing he did.”
The questions started up again, and you sent a sympathetic look towards someone off camera, no doubt your agent who was likely fuming.
“My relationship is my business, but for those who are wondering,” you slightly paused, making eye contact with the camera, “I’m in love with Frank Castle, and I don’t really care if anyone has a problem with that.” Your voice was soft, flittering through the speakers directly into Frank’s chest.
He knew that this would likely damage your reputation with the elites, but it was clear that you didn’t care. He let out a hearty laugh, sipping his coffee and getting up to make you breakfast. If he had been able to go with you to the news station, he would probably be on his knee right now, begging for your hand.
‘Another time, then,” Frank grinned, ‘another time.’
//
The fourth time Frank almost asked you to marry him, you were knelt down, knees in the soft ground, cleaning a particularly difficult glob of sap off a gravestone. He was not expecting to find you here, among his family’s graves. He certainly wasn’t expecting to find you cleaning the gravestones.
Frank had come by to talk to Maria, which always grounded him. He wanted to apologize to his kids for not protecting them when he should have. He also wanted to ask Maria for her forgiveness for loving someone else after her passing. It wasn’t a conflict in his head; he knew that Maria would have wanted him to find happiness, but that didn’t stop him from feeling guilty about how deep his love for you ran.
He inhaled sharply when he realized what you were doing. Your voice carried down the hill a little bit, hitting him squarely in the heart. You were talking to Maria.
“Was he always this grumpy?” You asked her, smiling bashfully. “He likes to act tough, but I know he’s a big teddy bear inside.” You wiped the top of the gravestone off, sitting back on your heels to observe your work. Sighing, you leaned back, moving into a crisscross position.
“I’m so sorry this happened to your family, Maria.” You paused, resting your chin on your hands. “I hope it’s okay that I love him. I really do. He’s...happier than he used to be. When I first met him, I mean.”
Frank blinked the tears that had gathered in his eyes. Overwhelmingly, and simultaneously, grief and love passed through him like a wave, nearly knocking him over.
You tilted your head, looking at the two graves next to Marias; Lisa and Frank Jr.’s resting places.
“Your dad misses you. You probably know that, but I see it in him all the time. The way he lights up when he gets to talk about you guys. I hope he never stops. Weirdly, I feel like I know you, even though we never met.”
You leaned back, searching through your bag for something. It nearly broke Frank when you pulled out a bouquet of peonies, Maria’s favorite flowers.
“I’ll take care of him,” you promised, setting the flowers down at the base of Maria’s grave. You ran your fingers over her name, etched beautifully into the stone.
Frank’s knees almost gave out. He fumbled with the little black box in his pocket, vowing to ask you to marry him as soon as he finished talking to Maria.
Your phone began to ring, startling both you and Frank. You held the phone between your ear and shoulder and began to pack your things away, chattering to whoever was on the other end of the line about a contract you hadn’t signed.
Frank was a little ashamed that he hid from you as you made your way towards the exit of the cemetery, but he figured that your conversation with Maria was something you didn’t want him to know about. He was so sure about his decision that it choked him up. He was going to ask you to marry him very soon. That he was sure about.
When Frank asked you to marry him, you were being coaxed awake by a soft voice, hands wondering over your back and brushing the hair from your eyes.
“Sweetheart,” Frank’s voice was like honey to your ears, “I’m sorry for waking you, but this is too important to wait until morning.”
You rubbed your eyes and clicked the lamp closest to you on. Frank was crouched down by your bed with a small smile on his face.
“What’s wrong, Frankie?” You asked, sitting up and checking him for cuts or bruises.
“Nothing’s wrong, sweetheart.” He let out a soft laugh. “I just wanted to ask you to marry me, that’s all.”
He slowly set an open ring box on your lap. Your eyes went wide, searching his face for deception.
“What?” You gasped. This was unexpected, to say the least.
“I don’t think I could take another day without putting a ring on your finger...” he searched for the right words, even though he had been practicing this speech for hours, “I don’t have much to offer you, but I’m yours for as long as you’ll have me.”
Your eyes grew teary as you smiled, palming his cheek.
“Oh, Frankie,” you mumbled, “Of course I’ll marry you, you beautiful, beautiful man.”
Frank let out a sigh of relief, tension leaving his shoulders, and smiled wide. Your grin matched his.
He plucked the ring out of the box, grasping your left hand and pushing the ring onto your ring finger. You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him into you and kissing his cheek.
“I love you so much, Frank,” you mumbled into his shoulder.
“I love you, Sweetheart.”
Frank’s eyebrows knit together in confusion as you jumped out of bed, hurriedly running towards the kitchen.
“Where are you going?” He called after you.
“I have to call Karen and tell her!” You responded, voice carrying across the apartment.
“It’s three o’clock in the morning,” he said, laughing, “Can’t it wait until later?”
End Note: I love the idea of Frank finding someone who he can trust and fully love after Maria's death. I hope if we ever see him in the MCU again, he'll be happy and healthy :'). Thank you for reading!

Code of Conduct (Part 1 of VG)

Code of Conduct - Part I of A Vigilante and a Gentlemen
Pairing: Frank Castle x Fem! Reader Word Count: 2,594 Chapter Summary: You were just trying to get to work. Warning(s): Sexual harassment, fear of sexual assault, swearing Series Masterlist My Masterlist Tag List: @loves0phelia Please let me know if you want to be added to the tag list.
Code of Conduct
When you saw the construction site on your way to work, you were tempted to find another route to work. Very tempted. But you were still learning your way around New York and didn’t want to get lost. Furthermore, you didn’t have time to get lost this morning. You couldn’t be late for work. You hated it but you needed this job. The rent wasn’t going to pay itself.
So you took a deep breath, trained your eyes on the sidewalk in front of you, and started walking at a fast clip. You hoped that you would be ignored. There was nothing eye-catching about your outfit – a knee length shirt, light weight blouse, both in neutral colors. You hoped it was too noisy for the sound of your heels to be heard. You hoped that these men would prove your worries misplaced by concentrating on doing their jobs.
Your hopes were dashed almost immediately. Almost as soon as you were in view of the crew, you heard a shrill whistle. This was quickly followed by a barrage of that mixed comments about your ass and your breasts with suggestions of various sexual acts you could perform with them. Your shoulders were hunched up around your ears and your face felt like it was on fire.
You didn’t know how many people were leering at you, how many were shouting. You didn’t want to look. You were already going to have those voices, those words echoing in your ears, when you tried to sleep tonight. You didn’t need their faces haunting your nightmares. You wanted to run but you couldn’t really run in these shoes. You were already felt humiliated enough without falling flat on your face. Or your ass. The best you could do was to hasten your pace.
Just a little further, you told yourself, seeing the end of the construction and the corner that would soon take you out of view.
Then one of the men – if the safety equipment he was wearing was any indication – stepped out on the sidewalk. Turned and planted himself in your path. You barely managed to avoid running into, skidding to a halt. The scrap of boot on concrete had you looking behind you. Another man dressed similarly to the first. Your heart began to pound. Your eyes looked frantically and your fear only grew when you realized the only way out involved running into traffic.
“Hey, bitch, don’t ignore me,” the man in front snarled. You might have called him handsome but the sneer and utter contempt in his eyes ruined any appeal he might have had. You also didn’t like how he seemed to enjoy your fear as he took a step closer. You wanted to take step back but you couldn’t risk getting any closer to other man behind you.
Movement out of the corner of your eye alerted you to someone else approaching. You risked a quick look and felt your heart sink even further as another large man walked toward you. You took a step back, preparing to run. You would take your chances with the traffic. The cars only might hurt you.
To your surprise, the approaching man stopped moving toward you. He was handsome through his nose looked like it had been broken at least once. His generous mouth was twisted into a scowl, dark eyes blazing with ice cold fury.
Fury, you suddenly realized, that wasn’t directed at you but the man standing in your way.
“Stop being an asshole and leave the lady alone, Jackson,” he said. Part of you wanted to shiver. He had a good voice, deep like a roll of thunder. It wasn’t a trained voice but there was a snap and bite of command to it. It reminded you of the voice that your uncle, who had been in the military, used whenever he was expected to be obeyed immediately.
The front man – Jackson – didn’t like being called an asshole. He took an aggressive step toward the newcomer and snarled, “What did you say to me Castigilione?”
“You heard me,” the newcomer – Castigilione – said. “Stop being an asshole and leave the lady alone. Right now.”
Castigilione wasn’t yelling. He was speaking just loud enough to be heard. But his voice was filled with warning, one that matched the look in those angry eyes. A look that screamed that Do not test me. You will not like the results.
The air between the two men crackled with barely restrained violence. On the surface, they seemed evenly matched. Both men were about the same size but there was something about Castigilione. Something you couldn’t quite put your finger on, a feeling that this man was a lot more dangerous than he looked. And he looked plenty dangerous already – a tall, well-built man with an eerily calm expression on his face and eyes filled with grim warning.
Jackson was a creep but he was apparently a creep with at least some self-preservation instincts. Because he was the first to look away, turn and go stomping back into the construction site. Muttering no doubt unkind words under his breath as he went. Jackson’s unnamed friend behind you was made of even less stern stuff because it only took one hard stare from Castigilione to send him packing. Likewise, the men who had stopped working to come over and harass you, one look and suddenly they remembered they had actual work they should be doing. Immediately. Somewhere else.
Castigilione turned his attention toward you. The look in his eyes immediately thawed, his expression shifting from that eerie calm to contrition. “I’m sorry about that, ma’am. I’ll see to it that this doesn’t happen again.”
You didn’t quite believe him. You believed his apology. He looked and sounded sincere. But you had heard such promises before. Sooner or later, they always got broken. But you had neither the time nor the desire to argue with him. So you just nodded acknowledgment and continued on your way to the office.
Work was work. Stressful. Your job title might have been office manager but the duties were closer to secretary-receptionist along with whatever data-entry jobs your company was currently short-staffed on. Which happened a lot since there was a pretty high turnover rate. First because the bulk of the staff were college students who left after the summer or they graduated. Second because it didn’t pay very well. Third the boss was an asshole.
You often thought about quitting but couldn’t without another job lined up. This job search had been slow going. Usually because by the time you got off, your eyes ached from staring at computer screens all day. So much that you couldn’t bare the thought of looking at them for another couple of hours to go through job listings, let alone fill out an application.
You had tried resting them by laying on your couch with a cool damp washcloth over your eyes. It had helped sooth your tired, often itchy eyes but you also almost always feel asleep.
Those were the good days. On the bad days, you walked home trying not to vomit from the migraine pounding through your skull. Those days you made sure the curtains were drawn in your bedroom, slipped on the noise-canceling headphones, and tried to get some sleep. Pain relievers sometimes eased the pain a little but the only effective cure you had found for your migraines was dark, quiet, and a nap.
It was frustrating. And not just on the finding-a-new-job front. But on the achieving your dreams front. You wanted to be a writer. You had finished writing the outline for your first novel. You were actually writing your first draft of it. But completing that first draft was slow going when you were so often too tired to do anything but eat dinner and go to sleep. You were trying to get up early and write in the morning before work but it seemed like everytime you got on a roll where the words were pouring out of your fingers and onto the page, the alarm on your phone would signal that it was time to get ready for your other job . . .
Writing wasn’t the only thing that you enjoyed that had been falling by the wayside lately. Your to-read stack of books had barely been touched and the stack of e-mail notifications of fan fics you had been subscribed to was equally bereft. Your other creative endeavors were even more neglected than your novel. You hadn’t been cooking much and you couldn’t remember the last time you baked.
Stop thinking like that, you told yourself sternly. All you are doing is making yourself feel worse.
You tried to steer your mind toward the positives. It might not be going as fast as you would like but you were making progress on that first draft. It was getting to be summer and the company always hired a bunch of college kids during the summer months so your work load should lightened for a little while. You had found a job listing last night that had looked promising and had e-mailed your resume before you could talk yourself out of it. Maybe you would actually cook dinner tonight. Buttered noddles might not be fancy but it wouldn’t be microwaved or take out.
It was time for lunch. You hadn’t brought anything with you and there were no vending machines in the building. If you wanted food, you would have to go out and get it. Something that filled you with dread. Getting to the nearby restaurants meant going by that construction site again. And very thought was making your stomach twist into knots.
You considered skipping lunch but you had only had an apple and coffee for breakfast this morning. You weren’t sure you would make until you got off work without getting hangry. As satisfying as it might be to tell your boss exactly what you thought about him, getting fired would be far less satisfying.
So you did your best to swallow your nerves and went out to get lunch. As you got closer to the construction site, the tension in your body grew. Your hand was clenched so tightly around the strap of your purse that the knuckles were white and the veins were popping into high relief. You were starting to feel so nauseous that you weren’t sure that you’d be able to eat.
Like this morning, you walked fast. Unlike this morning, you watched the men. It would probably mean more hollering once they realized they had gotten your attention but you couldn’t trust them to stay in work site. What if one of them tried again? And this time you didn’t see him in time to avoid being grabbed? It might be the middle of the day in a densely populated city but plenty of potential witnesses hadn’t stopped them before . . .
You tensed when one of the men noticed you. Your heart sank when you recognized the same man from this morning. Jackson the Creep. Saw the leering look and his mouth started to open . . . only to abruptly snap shut when Castigilione smacked him hard against the back of the head.
Jackson turned to (you assumed) glare at him but it didn’t seem to phase the other man. Who simply returned his (assumed) glare with one of his own. The same hard stare with ice cold eyes from this morning. Again, he didn’t say a word. Did nothing that could be considered threatening. Just stared at him and waited, his body looking relaxed and confident. Jackson said something – you couldn’t hear what – but whatever it was had little effect on Castigilione.
The only change was this grim, little smirk that spread across his face. Castigilione looked like the embodiment of ‘fuck around and find out.’
It, to put it very frankly, made him look very hot. Which, now you were taking a closer look, he didn’t really need help doing. Those blue jeans showed off powerfully built legs and that white tee shirt under his safety vest was clearly one size too small because it strained to contain those broad shoulders and torso, those muscular arms . . .
“Are you alright there, ma’am?”
You jumped at the voice. You looked up and realized that Castigilione was no longer in a staring contest with Jackson the Creep. Also that you had stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and had been staring, completely oblivious of the other pedestrians jostling past you. You felt your face get warm with embarrassment.
“Fine! All good!” you managed to get out and cringed. Your voice had come out high-pitched and squeaky. Like a chipmunk. You wanted to melt into the ground. Why were you always so awkward and embarrassing around cute guys?
It really didn’t help your embarrassment to see his lips twitch in an obvious effort not to laugh. Or that smile that spread across his face was so stupidly adorable that it made your heart flutter. You scurried off before you could embarrass yourself further.
The possibility of embarrassment did nothing to prevent you from checking him out again when you walked back toward your office with your sub. You added a nice-looking ass to his list of other attributes. Along with the observation that he had the straight-backed good posture you associated with people who had been in the military. Maybe recently in the military since none of his hair could be seen from under that hardhat. Granted some men just preferred wearing their hair very short but recently military fit with the manners. Only military guys had ever addressed you as ‘ma’am.’
Another thing you learned during that trip was the Castigilione didn’t miss much. He noticed you watching him almost immediately. Your face warmed at getting caught staring. Again. Warmth that only increased when he winked at you.
Work conspired to put Castigilione out of your mind by getting pulled into extra work when a coworker called out sick. You managed to get it done but it was late by the time you did. Night had long since fallen. Now you were nervous for a different reason. You didn’t like walking alone this late at night. Yes, this was the Kitchen and all you had to do was scream. Then the Devil would come. You believed that. Trusted it. But rather hoped that you would never need it.
But you couldn’t afford to take a cab everytime you worked late. Not unless you wanted your meals to consist entirely of cheap ramen. If you were lucky. So you prayed to whoever might be listening and felt inclined to be kind to lone travelers, and walked home.
The construction site was dark and silent as you went past it. The men had long since downed tools and went home. You tried not feel disappointed about missing seeing Castigilione again. Unless he had quit at the end of the day, you would see him again. You went this way every day that you worked.
You would probably check him out every day too. And maybe, just maybe, you might work up the courage to actually talk to him. Have a real conversation where – knock on wood – you wouldn’t squeak like a chipmunk. Or otherwise make a fool of yourself. Maybe while having a coffee or something.
You shook your head, pushing those thoughts out of your head. This was not the time for daydreaming.

Note
This is more a freeform concept than a request, but this has been stuck in my head for a while and I thought this might be a good place for it: Frank Castle with a reader who doesn’t care that much about what happens to them and doesn’t value themselves much, they just stick to the job and finish it because it’s important, with the lyric “you’re just a body / you’re just a body / there’s nothing left” (Milk by Hands Off Gretel has been rotating in my mind for a week now)
Anyway I love your fics so much, your blog makes me so happyyyyy, I just wanted to share some of the Frankie brainrot 😃
i love the frankie brainrot!!!! give it all to me!!!!
okay but imagine he starts falling for reader who doesn’t care about what happens to them!!! suddenly he’s stopping you when you get too close to a ledge or in the line of sight of the current target!!! suddenly he’s scolding you if you come home with more wounds than the last time and he’s visibly upset about it!!!
he’s so full of this emotion he can’t quite put his finger on every time you’re putting yourself in harms way and you don’t even care. it takes everything in him not to keep a leash on you so he can always keep an eye on you!!!

Back against the wall. Trippin', trip-trippin' when you're gone
EXT. PIER 81 - NIGHT
The night Alex and Frank went after the blacksmith, they found themselves on the Pier 81. They hid behind a few containers while watching on the docked ship the blacksmith was supposed to be in. Alex kept looking behind her waiting for Matt to appear out of nowhere, knowing that it was just a matter of time. Frank must have noticed her anxiety but translated it wrong because he said “you don’t have to come with me. You’ve done enough.”
“No way in hell I’m letting you go in there alone.”
“I have to be the one to pull the trigger.”
“and you will. But I’m going to be there to make sure no one pulls the trigger on you.”
Frank bowed his head, biting on his bottom lip. “no. it can’t be like this.
“Frank…” she reached for his hand, he looked up at her instantly “I’m coming with you.”
He held her hand better. Her palm seemed tiny compared to his. “I want to do this alone.” She shook her head.
“I’ll tell you what though. When this is over, I’ll help you find out what the ell happened to you. Alright?”
“you forget I am as stubborn as you.”
“yeah but you are slower.” He’d taken a pair of handcuffs he had out of his pocket and tied both of her hands on one of the containers. She tried to pull her hand away but it was too late.
“Goddamn It Frank!” she hissed.
“See you when this is over. I’ll take this” he took the knife she had hidden on her boot, his hand stroking her exposed skin while he completed the movement. They looked at each other for what seemed like a second and then he left her tied up on the container. Alex kept pulling but there was no use, she wasn’t strong enough to break the cuffs or the silver pole they were strapped around. Then she saw a shadow dancing in the sky, looking like a devil. “shit.” She bowed her head and stretched her hand as much as he could to reach for the needle she always had in between her braids. She took it, twisting her hands anyway she could to mess with the keyhole and unlock the cuffs. The moments she was free, she pulled up her bandana, and grabbed one of the chains that hanged from the containers. She ran behind the shadow and when she was close enough she threw the chain on his, making jump and misstep.
When matt got his balance back, he turned to her direction. His big red eyes glowed in the dark. “you’ve got to be kidding me.”
“You can’t stop him matt.”
“He’s wrong-“ Alex ran to him, jumping on him, her leg tying around his neck, she pulled his body on the floor but he pushed her of him before he reached the ground and maneuvered his body to stay standing while she rolled on the ground. “we don’t have time for this!” he started running away, to where frank was supposed to be. Alex stood up and followed him, jumping on his back, she punched him on the face and got down stretching her leg so he’d stumble and fall. While he was trying to regain his balance she held his arm, twisting it behind his back, she took his Billy club from his waist and kicked him on the knees, so he would kneel.
“You have to let him finish this-“
Matt reached for one end of the billy club and pulled it abruptly, Alex fell face forward on the ground, she did a flip to land on her knees, balancing on hand on the ground as well to keep still, she pulled on her end of the billy club and jumped around matt, twisting the chains of billy club around his neck but in quick movement he pulled the chains, twisting it so it was her on her knees with the bill club around her neck-
“LISTEN TO ME! You’re making a mistake-“
“Matt-“ she coughed.
“He’s got the wrong man-“
“You’re lying.”
“I can hear them.” He pushed her forward letting her go “it’s a trap” she tried to jump on him again but he grabbed her hand, pulled it behind her back and put his other around her chest “I can hear them. I can hear the other guy lying to him. You can help me get him out of there or we can fight for another minute while he dies because of your pride.” He let her go and she turned to look at him.
“Take of your mask.”
“We don’t have time for this.”
“Take it off!” she demanded. Matt obeyed and she went closer to him, placed her hand on his chest and looked in his black eyes “Do you promise you’re telling the truth?”
“I promise.”
Matt had taught her how to read people almost as well as he did. Something that he had regretted but at least, this time it helped him convince her. So they went inside the ship together. Frank was pointing his gun at a man, yelling in his face, to hear him say he is the blacksmith.
“DON’T SHOOT HIM FRANK!” Shouted Matt. Frank glanced behind him and cursed when he saw you next to Daredevil. “He’s not the blacksmith. I know when people are telling the truth and he isn’t!”
“YOU’RE LYING!” He growled and pushed the gun closer to the man’s head.
“FRANK!” She moved forward, standing behind him “This man is lying to you-“
“Either way-“ matt grabbed a hammer from the table while frank spoke “He’s as bas as the rest of them.”
“He’s not the blacksmith, frank! Put the gun down!”
“Get out of here Alex.”
“You kill him, we have nothing!” shouted Matt and threw the hammer on Frank’s hand. Frank’s gun dropped on the floor. Frank kicked the man he was holding and turned, facing Alex. She raised her hands to his chest, prompting him to stay calm. Frank pointed angrily at Matt.
“YOU JUST COULDN’T LET ME HAVE THIS-“ He tried to push Alex away, she held him back “YOU PIECE OF SHIT!”
“FRANK LOOK AT ME-“ she tried but he pushed her to the side and attacked matt. The two man started punching and hitting each other. Alex stood up running to them “HEY HEY!” She tried to drag frank back form his jacket, he shook her off and she moved in between them, snatching frank’s hand before It hit her face and forcing him to look at her “ENOUGH FRANK!” Frank didn’t hesitate before pushing her with all the strength he had on Matt, the two of them crashing on the door of the ship, opening it and landing on the bow of the ship.
“WHEN ARE YOU GONNA LEARN TO MIND YOUR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS!” Matt held her while the fell on the ground, making sure he was the one crashing first. Frank appeared again and pulled her up throwing her away. Alex flipped and landed on her knees.
“Do not touch her!” Said matt, getting up and throwing himself on frank. Frank punched him repeatedly, matt kicked him on the ankle, making kneel. “WE WANT THE SAME THING!”
Alex jumped on him, her arm choking him. He pushed his body backwards, smashing her body under him. She gasped, hitting her head but the minute he was off her she attacked him again. Punched him harder, she escaped a couple of his hits, until he pushed her with his elbow, she fell on the corner of one of the boxes, hitting her head harder and losing her consciousness for a couple of seconds.
Matt grabbed frank from his jacket forcing him to turn around hit him on his forehead with his, before throwing him across the bow. He ran to Alex, picking up her head, she flickered her eyes. Trying to focus. Frank watched, feeling some sort of guilt for the girl. He breathed loudly, lowering his head “GODDAMN IT BOTH OF YOU!”
“Alex? Lex, can you hear me?” tried matt, stroking her face. She nodded weakly. Blood was drawing a red line on the side of her head.
“YOU COULDN’T LET ME HAVE THIS ONE THING? IT WOULD BE OVER-“
“YOU WOULD HAVE STARTED A WAR FOR THE WRONG REASONS-“
“MY WAR! YOU SON OF A BITCH! IT IS MY WAR.”
Alex lifted her head a little, feeling dizzy. Matt held her shoulders, helping her sit.
“Frank..” she whispered
“ONE MOMENT OF PEACE AND YOU TOOK IT FROM ME!”
“We’ll help you find the one responsible!”
“And then what? Let the justice system take over? This people killed my family, they took m children from me- I NEED IT BE FINAL RED! I NEED IT TO BE PERMENANT!”
Matt moved closer to frank, Alex watched them as they talked.
“I understand No you’re right my system doesn’t work.” To that her eyes opened wide, she crawled closer to them “So maybe this ones- maybe we do it your way.”
Alex couldn’t believe her ears. She tried to get up but everything around her turned in circles and sat back exactly where she was. Frank noticed it, he looked away, guilty. “Just this ones?” he asked matt and stared at him “there’s no such thing Red.” He shook his head “the moment you cross over to my field there is no way back-“ he looked at Alex, in her eyes, like he was staring right into her soul “whether you remember it or not.”
Alex went to speak but she heard the sound of cars coming closer and saw matt tensing. “I count 10. Fully armed-“ matt went back to Alex to help her get behind one of the boxes with him and frank. “there’s a lot of gun powder below decks if these guys start shooting-“
“It will blow straight to hell.” Completed frank. Alex placed her hand on her wound, feeling the blood as it kept trailing her face. She looked at her hand, seeing the red, her heartbeat getting faster. Matt turned to look at her, holding her hands.
“Stay awake Alex. We have to jump before they start shooting-“
“Alex” called frank. She looked at him “you need to go.”
All three of them stood up. Matt and Alex walked ahead, when Alex saw frank pushing of matt she ducked to avoid him.
“Fucking hell Alex!”
“You’re not staying alone.”
“It’s been a long time hasn’t it frank?” one of the criminals yelled getting his attention, he looked completely distracted. When the men started shooting he ran to Alex and shortly after the explosion sent them both underwater and she got sucked in the void of the ocean, chocking by the water, fighting for a breath of air.

INT. ALEX’S HOUSE - DAY - 10 MONTHS LATER
Alex sat up on the bed, trying to catch her breath. She looked at the alarm clock to her right ringing, another morning, another troubled night. She took a few much needed breaths and got up. She headed straight for the kitchen, followed her casual morning routine which pretty much only consisted of getting her dose of caffeine. When she heard someone knocking on her door her first instinct was to freeze and curse under her breath but the familiar face that followed, calmed her nerves a bit.
“It’s me Alex.” Said Karen “I’m bringing donuts.”
She went and opened the door slightly, letting Karen enter by herself. She got the pot, filling her cup. “Do you want a cup?”
“No” Karen closed the door and walked over to her, leaving the box with the donuts on the counter “Got one from Starbucks.” She sat down on one of the stools.
“What are you doing here this early?”
“I was passing by” Alex gave her a warning look and Karen laughed “I wanted to talk to you. I barely see you anymore ever since you and matt… you know.” Alex opened the box, getting a donut for herself and practically ignoring Karen. “I know frank is back.”
She looked at her, with the donut still in between her teeth. She moved it away slowly “you and half of new York apparently. What did this guy do hang a sign on the empire state building?”
Karen kept scratching the paper on her cup, a weak smile playing on her lips “no he just went by the office.”
“What office?”
“Nelson and Murdock.”
Alex let her hand drop, her expression did the same “why on earth would he do that?”
“Foggy said he and matt were talking about you. There was yelling and cursing mostly by frank.”
“can’t wait to find out what their master plan is.” She took another bite from her donut, finishing it and rubbed her hands to get rid of the sugar.
“he heard something else too… about you.”
“this needs more milk.” Alex said, moving to her fridge to get the milk.
“Something about the killings-“
Alex slowed her movements but didn’t answer. She put milk on her coffee while feeling Karen staring. She put the milk back and closed the fridge.
“was it you?” asked Karen. Alex sipped on her coffee before leaving it on the kitchen and walking away, towards her bedroom. Karen turned her body on the stool. “Alex!” she called. Alex halted. She kept snapping her thumb with her fingers, nervously. “you’re gone. You’ve been gone for months and-“ she let put a sigh “I don’t know what happened to you and matt but nothing has been the same ever since the car crash-“
Alex faced Karen confused “the car crash?”
“that was his excuse when you were hospitalized but I know better now. About yours and Matt’s life-“
“You’ve always knows about mine Karen.”
“the point is…” she got up, went closer to her “I don’t recognize you anymore and I’m not sure I like what you’re becoming.”
Alex shrugged her shoulders “unfortunately there is nothing I can do about it.”
“you didn’t used to be that cold.”
“perhaps it’s exactly who I used to be.” She turned around to leave
“is that it?” Alex stopped again “did you remember who you were.”
She walked to her room and never answered the question.

EXT. CHILDREN’S PARK - DAY
David Lieberman was a free man, an alive man, that was finally able to enjoy time with his children, like a normal person. Watching them play on the playground and eating ice cream, running on the street and stopping on red lights.
He was currently sitting on a bench, next to his wife. She was going on about her mother and the dinner party they had planned for Saturday, David had stopped listening somewhere after the first or second sentence but she hadn’t noticed. And its not like he was ignoring her, he was just watching at the children and got carried away. Also he knew that deep down he wasn’t meant to be listening, just let her mumble. Suddenly he noticed his daughter’s expression changing, she jumped off the swing and started running, he followed her with his gaze until his girl threw herself on a tall man. David got up out of instinct, at first feeling fear and terror for who the man was but then the moon looked up and David recognized the face. Relief washed over him and he walked over to his old friend, smiling.
Leo jumped of his arms and the two man hugged and patted each other, asking ‘how are you’s’ and ‘where you’ve been’s’ at each other. Sarah came closer too, standing next to David, crossing her arms.
“Sarah” said frank, giving her a smile.
“I hope you’re here on a casual visit.”
Frank kneeled to be on the same eye level with Leo “go play, sweetheart. I need to talk with mum and dad.”
“you’re not going to take him away again, are you?”
Frank’s eyes softened and David himself felt his heart getting heavier. Frank, placed his hand on her shoulder and smiled.
“I promise. I just need dad’s help for a short thing.”
Leo nodded and left them. Frank stood up.
“I won’t allow you to get our family back in trouble again.” Said Sarah quickly. David shook hi head.
“don’t worry. No one is getting into trouble, I wouldn’t be here even if there was a small possibility of that happening.”
“there is always trouble when you’re around.”
David motioned for her to stop “what do you need?”
“just a location. I have some sort of machine back at my place. I want you to tell me if there is any sort of possibility we can trace it to the owner.”
“what kind of machine.” Frank didn’t answer. “right.” David turned and looked at Sarah “promise I’ll be back to put the kids to bed.”

INT. FRANK'S HIDING PLACE, BASEMENT - LATER
Frank led David to his new “cave” which was a basement hidden deep under hell’s kitchen’s most dangerous streets. David entered slowly, holding a bag with his most precious devices, looking around a bit disgusted by the dirt and spiders that crawled on the walls.
“this is worst than our old hiding place.”
“I’ve only been back for a couple of days.”
David turned and looked at him “and what brings the punisher back?”
“Unfinished business.” Frank handed him a tiny gadget, David noticed something that looked like a body, tied in white sheets behind him. He looked at what he was giving him and then up to his face “back at your old hobbies? I thought you were done with that shit.”
“I didn’t kill her.”
“then who did?”
Frank looked at the gadget in his hand “that was on the back of her neck.”
David took it in his hands and examined it carefully, turning it around in his fingers. The machine was smaller than his thumb. “this killed her?”
“it was quick and clean except it burned the skin of her neck where it was planted”
David shook his head. “a kill chip.”
“you seen them before?”
“I’ve seen prototypes before. It never made it out of paper where I was working in. this works as a tracking device too. See the red light? It must have been turned off when it detonated.”
“can you track it back to the owners?”
He sat on the floor and opened the computer. He started clicking and tapping on the keyboard while frank stood over him watching him.
“what kind of unfinished business is this then? Thought you took care of you list.”
“it’s not about me.”
“who is it?”
“do you remember Alex?”
Silence. David closed his eyes. Letting out a sigh. “fucking hell…”
“did you do it?”
“no.” he maneuvered his entire body, raising his head to be able to see him “are you out of your mind? Hanging around with her again. Frank I’ve met one person worst than you and that’s Alex Walker.”
“she’d take that as a compliment.”
“that’s the problem!”
“are you done with the thing?”
“no.”
“please be done with the thing.”
He bit his tongue but turned around again. Started clicking and tapping “I’m just saying she is trouble.”
An alarm started going off on his computer. “oh uh.” He mumbled. Started tapping faster. Frank looked at him confused. “what’s wrong?”
“Well since the signal has been restored in order for us to find them- they can find us too. They are tracking it back to us.”
“Leave.”
“Frank!”
“Go!” he patted him on the shoulder. David got up, looked at his old friend.
“When will you stop looking for wars?”
“When they stop looking for me. I’ll tell Alex you said hi.”
David reached for his bag from the floor and put it over his shoulder “please don’t”
He turned around to leave but to his surprise someone blocked his way. He looked up to find the girl he had been frightened of.
“No need. He can tell me himself.” Smiled Alex.

You watched the snowflakes fall with a calm smile on your face. You had always adored this time of year, especially when it snowed. It was just something about how the never ending buzzing of Hell’s Kitchen would just stop for a moment— just peace and quiet. It never failed to calm your nerves, whatever worries that were on your mind washing away with the snow hitting the ground.
You were sat on your boyfriend’s couch wrapped up in a blanket with a book in your hand, soaking in the tranquility that this type of weather brought you. Matt’s apartment was always one of your favorite places— it was always so quiet and the big, open windows granted you a sight to Hell’s Kitchen. Even with the bright build-board right outside, you still loved it. Most of all, you loved it because it was his. Everything in the apartment reminded you of Matt, thats why you spent as much time as possible here.
“Sweetheart?” Matt’s call broke you from your thoughts, and your heart swelled at his voice. You stood up immediately, walking over to where he was kicking off his shoes and jacket by the door.
“Hi, baby,” You smiled, your hands coming up to rest on his shoulders as his hands wrapped around your waist, drawing you closer.
“Hi,” He whispered as you took off his sunglasses. The second the lenses were off his eyes, the man brought his lips to yours.
Your smile only grew against his lips as you dug one of your hands into his hair— the man before you only growing more greedy against your lips.
You pulled back for air, a teasing look on your features. Matt may not have sight, but he could always tell when that look crossed your face. “Someone missed me, huh?” You cheekily teased.
His cold hands dove under the material of your— his shirt, causing a yelp to leave your lips as you attempted to get away from him.
He smiled brightly at you. “Of course I missed you,” His cold hands only traveled further up your back, and you knew the sneaky fucker could probably hear the goosebumps rising on your skin.
“Stop!” You giggled, trying to fight your way out of his arms, but you knew it was fruitless.
“Okay, okay,” He chuckled, relenting his cold hands from your warm skin. “‘m sorry, you’re just warm and it was fuckin’ freezing out there.”
You playfully rolled your eyes, your hands grabbing his own from your hips and wrapping them within your own in an attempt to warm them up. “I told you that this morning. Just because you’re the big, bad Daredevil doesn’t mean you don’t get cold, my love.” You joked, interlacing your fingers and leading him to your shared room.
He rolled his own eyes with a smile at your remark, you never failed to tease him for his vigilante ways— even when he came to you half dead and you had to patch him up, you still found a way to crack a joke to see his smile.
“Here,” You turned to him with a hoodie and sweatpants in your hands. “Get out of that suit so we can cuddle on the couch.” You left a kiss on his lips before turning on your heel and walking towards the kitchen.
Matt shook his head with a laugh, but did as he was told regardless. Once he was settled, he made his way towards where you were in the kitchen. You smiled softly when you felt his chest against your back and his arms slither around your waist. You leaned your head back onto his shoulder as he left small kisses along your neck.
“Hot chocolate, huh?” He murmured against your neck.
You rolled your eyes playfully at his use of his senses. “Yep, might help you warm up, Frozone.” You joked.
“I know you did not just compare me to that dude from Incredibles.” He scoffed, feigning offensiveness.
You giggled. “How do you even know that?”
“Honey, my ears still work.” He pinched your hip lightly. “When that movie came out all the kids at the orphanage loved it. Had to hear it at least three times a day,”
You grimaced at the thought. “That must’ve been torture, havin’ to constantly hear the plot of that movie.”
“It was.” He agreed.
“Don’t tell me you hate that movie, though.” You looked at him from over your shoulder, holding up a finger. “‘Cause that was my favorite Disney movie for a while..”
He started tickling you immediately, a loud squeal leaving your lips. “Oh, my girl has a basic taste in Disney movies?” He teased with a smile, talking slightly loud over your laughter. “Who would’ve thought?”
“Matthew!” You wheezed out, thrashing in his grip. He finally relented as you laid against him while you attempted to catch your breath. “Didn’t know you were so passionate about my taste..”
“Well, I gotta let you know if it’s a basic one.” He shrugged, a smirk on his lips.
“If it’s so basic, then how’d I pick you?” You bit back with raised brows.
A breathy chuckle escaped him, before he paused to lick his lips. “Fair play, honey.”
You only smiled in return, turning back to pour the pair of you a mug of hot chocolate. Matt let his eyes flutter shut behind you, resting his head in the crook of your neck as he relaxed to the sounds of just simply: you.
You smiled when you noticed what he was doing, one of your hands coming up to scratch his scalp. “It’s ready,” You softly said.
He pulled away from you to grab his mug. “Thank you, baby.” He left a kiss to the side of your head before wrapping an arm around your waist and leading you to the couch.
He placed both of your cups on the coffee table before lying down and dragging you into his chest, yet another yelp leaving your lips.
Your chin rested on his chest as you looked at him with questioning eyes.
“What?” He laughed. “I told you I missed you,”
You only smiled, leaning up slightly to bring your lips together. His hand immediately shot up to cup your jaw, the man also leaning up to deepen it. You’d never get tired of the way his lips chased yours, and how passionately he kissed you every time.
You pulled back for air, but not before leaving a couple small pecks to his lips.
“I love you.” He whispered.
“I love you, Matt.” You whispered back, leaving one last kiss to his lips before digging your head into the crook of his neck— the hot chocolate being long forgotten.
But in all honesty, you couldn’t bring yourself to care. You were perfectly fine just as you were, wrapped up in your lover’s arms during a snowstorm.

••• Even Still •••
Frank Castle x AFAB reader
Frank is upset with you when you put yourself in harms way
once again i was in my frank feels and got a little carried away with this one. enjoy xx
“Don’t.”
He cut you off before you could even finish saying his name. You bit your tongue hard as you watched him insert another stitch on your forearm.
The pounding in your head was relentless and you did your best to ignore the buzz emitting from the lights in the bathroom.
It felt as though it was right in your ears.
Your chest rose and fell slowly — each breath feeling like a knife was being jammed into your side. More than likely you had a few broken ribs.
It hurt to talk and smile but at least your split lip had finally stopped bleeding. The soreness around your eyes reminded you of the probable bruises that would be there to greet you tomorrow morning.
You hadn’t planned on getting hurt. You hadn’t really planned on any of the events of tonight.
But when the opportunity came up for you to go after the men who killed your brother, there was no way you could turn it down.
You didn’t think about the possible consequences.
You didn’t care.
All you could see was the vision of your brother’s mutilated body. All you could hear were the screams from your mother when the police had come to deliver the news.
So you sought your own justice— with help from a certain red vigilante that your boyfriend wasn’t particularly fond of.
The tension in the bathroom was palpable. You wanted so badly to say something sassy, but Frank was the one with a needle and thread in his hand.
While you knew he would never purposely inflict pain, you wouldn’t put it past him to fix you with a little more pressure and force than was probably necessary.
So instead you waited until he finished covering your stitched wound with a bandage and gauze.
You didn’t move from your seat as he started cleaning up the supplies and you refused to look at him. You kept your gaze off to the side, looking toward the bathroom window at the few cars that drove down the quiet midnight street.
“I don’t understand why you’re so angry? I thought you would understand more than anyone why I did what I did.”
It was a low blow and you regretted it as soon as the words left your mouth. It wasn’t fair to throw that in his face but it also wasn’t fair that you got the cold shoulder when you weren’t all that different.
You couldn’t comprehend why it was okay for him to consistently put himself in dangerous situations but god forbid you do it one time.
He didn’t respond. He just continued to clean. For some reason that irritated you more than if he would’ve bit back with something even lower.
“Frank.” you prodded, this time finally turning to look at him. Again he ignored you, shoving the first aid kit back under the bathroom sink.
“Is this really what we’re gonna do? You’re gonna pretend like i’m not he-”
He grabbed your chin and jutted it up toward him. It didn’t hurt you, just startled you more than anything.
“Why didn’t you ask me?”
His voice was low, and while he tried to keep up his usual tough, stoic demeanor, you detected a hint of hurt in his voice.
You weren’t sure what to make of it.
“Hm?” he squeezed your chin gently when you hadn’t responded.
You avoided his gaze now, uncomfortable with his searching eyes. He could always see right through you. No matter how much you tried to close him out, it never worked.
“Because I knew you would’ve said no.”
As the words left your mouth you could hear how dejected you sounded. You were tired and really didn’t want to get in a screaming match with Frank tonight. You were just happy to be home and alive.
“You’re damn right I would’ve.”, he quipped. “It was a stupid thing to do.”
You scoffed, finally pushing his hand off your chin and crossing your arms.
“I did what was necessary.”
“No, you got fucking lucky. I mean what the hell were you thinkin? You really thought you could take on a group of those guys by yourself and win? You were just a doe heading straight into a lion's den.” he said incredulously.
“That’s why I didn’t go by myself, Frank.” you rolled your eyes. “I’m stubborn, not naive.”
“Oh right. ‘Scuse me. You and Red. The dynamic fucking duo.”
He was definitely hurt. There was no denying that. From the outside you could understand how it looked. Turning to someone he couldn’t stand for help instead of coming to him.
You realize now he wasn’t asking why you didn’t ask for his permission.
He was wanting to know why you didn’t ask him to be the one to go with you. Why did you go to Matt Murdock of all people?
But if you had gone to Frank you know he would’ve stopped you. Those men would still be alive right now and on their way to hurt someone else. To destroy some other family. You couldn’t let that happen.
Matt tried to stop you too but you had a bit more leeway with getting him to go along with you than Frank.
You knew even if he objected to it, Matt would reluctantly follow alongside you.
Frank would’ve tied you to a chair and locked you in a room.
“I’m sorry if I hurt you by going to him for help but you said it yourself. There’s no way I could’ve done that on my own. I needed someone who could join me and handle a fight. Not someone who was just going to tell me what I could and couldn’t do like I was some incompetent child.”
Frank shook his head. “Yeah and i’ll deal with that motherfucker later. He’s an idiot for letting you put yourself in danger like that.”
“He wouldn’t have let anything happen to me.” you shot back.
All he could do was run his hands down his face before turning to look at you. “Do you hear yourself? He ain’t some magic shield that would’ve kept you from getting shot or stabbed. What if there had been more men? What if he had gotten hurt and you were left to try and fight off those scum bags by yourself?”
“I think i handled myself pretty well when he was occupied.”
You knew you were being difficult. You also knew Frank was right. It was a bad idea all around, but at the time it didn’t matter. You just wanted to hurt them.
Sure there was a part of you that felt invincible having someone like Matt with you, but as you got more clarity you realized how lucky you had been to get away with the injuries you had. It really could’ve gone a different way.
Still, you hated the way Frank was making you feel right now. Like a child being scolded by a parent. You know it’s cause he loves you and you scared him, but it doesn’t make it any easier right now.
You figured he’d be a little upset but you also thought he would be proud of you.
The look he was giving you right now showed you anything but that.
“So do you feel better?” he asked, following you as you limped out of the bathroom. “Huh? You get what you wanted out of it?”
“Frank.” you sighed.
“No I wanna know.”
He grabbed your arm and spun you around. He loosened his hold when he saw you grimace from the contact, god you ached like a bitch, but he still held his intense stare.
“Was it worth it?”
You knew he was trying to rile you up. Get some sort of angry response from you. He was pissed now and was ready to let you have it but you weren’t giving in that easily.
“I don’t feel anything right now.”
Which was the truth. Besides the obvious physical pain, you didn’t feel anything about tonight. There was a rush of adrenaline as you fought, as you punched and kicked and dumped the last body into the river.
But now? As the high wore off and reality was sinking in? You just felt empty.
“You think about anyone else before you did what you did? You think about me or your friends?” he nodded toward the dog bowl for Rocco, the pitbull that you shared. “You think about him, how he’d search all around the apartment and wonder why you never came home?”
You turned your back to him and headed toward the bedroom. You just wanted to get out of these uncomfortable clothes and you wanted this conversation to stop.
“Enough, Frank.”
He didn’t listen, he just kept going. God is this how he felt when you nagged him for coming home close to death after a mission gone wrong?
“What about your mom, huh?”
That made you pause.
“You ever stop to think how she’d feel having two dead children?”
Your stomach dropped and the blood in your veins suddenly felt ice cold.
“How dare you.” you asked angrily, spinning around to face him. It took all the strength you had not to slap him.
“You don’t understand sweetheart. I’ve been where you are. I did what you did and it doesn’t stop the pain. It’s there like a gaping wound that won’t fucking close except now you’ve got something else on your conscience.”
“You think I don’t know what’s going through your head right now? The rush is gone and you’re left feeling like ‘what now’? He ain’t gonna call you up. He ain’t gonna walk through that door.”
You move to sit on the bed now, not even bothering to fight the tears as they rolled down your face.
“It doesn’t end there. No, because now you just took 3 men’s lives. Men with families. Men with people who are gonna want to know what happened to them. Men who work for people that don’t take well to being threatened and they’re gonna want to find whoever did this.”
“They ain’t gonna care that you were getting revenge for your brother. It’ll take them all but 2 seconds to put a bullet in your head and drive away like it never fucking happened.”
You hated that Frank was right but you didn’t understand the self righteous talk. Why does he do what he does if this is how he feels about it?
“How is this any different than what you do huh?” you spat angrily. “You think I don’t sit here worried about you when you disappear at night? Come in looking like you’re knocking on death’s door?”
“You’re not me!” he shouted. “I’ve already made the mistakes I made and I deal with it. I never wanted you anywhere near that world because it’s not for people like you. I already accepted my fate a long time ago.”
Frank knew he was being hard on you but he just couldn’t help it. He was so angry that you put yourself in that situation and he was angry that as much as he tried to protect you, there was nothing he could do for you now.
You were still processing everything but because of the kind of person you are, he knows tomorrow you’re gonna wake up feeling the guilt wash over you like an unrelenting wave.
It wasn’t that Frank was only trying to keep you safe physically—that was part of it— but he wanted to protect you from the emotional trauma that comes with taking a life. He’d buried that part of himself a long time ago.
But you? You were too sweet for this life. He was worried that it would break you. He knows better than anyone that it’s not a piece of you that comes back. You’re changed forever.
Your lip trembled and suddenly the sob you had been holding in came rushing out. The tears stung like hell as they fell down your face and this would no doubt make your headache a million times worse, but there was nothing you could do.
“Shit, baby.” Frank cursed, rushing over to you. He pulled you up into his arms, kissing your head and rubbing your neck. “Just let it out, I got you.”
Your whole body shook as the grief consumed you.
“I’m so sorry Frank.” you cried. “I’m sorry. I just wanted them to feel what he felt. What I feel. It’s not fair. It’s not-” you couldn’t even finish the words. You sounded like a blubbering mess.
“I know sweetheart. I know.” he whispered, rubbing his hand up and down your back and lightly rocking you back and forth.
He wished he could take this away from you. It hurt to see you hurt.
“I’m sorry for the harsh things I said. I’m not the best with words.” Frank said, resting his forehead against yours.
You breathed together, slow and steady. You could feel yourself start to calm down, the edge of the panic attack starting to subside. You slumped against Frank’s chest as the energy had been zapped from you.
“I’m sorry too.” you replied, “I wasn’t exactly making it easy on you.”
“No, but that’s my girl.”
He brushed your hair behind your ear and tilted your chin up to look at him. For a moment neither one of you said anything and you couldn’t decipher the look on his face.
“You drive me so fucking crazy sometimes.” he said quietly, “Even still, I don’t think I could survive losing you too.”
It felt like a kick in the stomach to hear that. You really had been selfish. You didn’t think about anyone else in your life that would’ve been affected if something had gone wrong.
It made the tears come again and Frank pulled you into him. He tried to soothe you, telling you it was going to be okay. You were safe, nothing was going to harm you.
After a while he helped you get out of your clothes, changing you into one of his big t shirts. You really wanted to shower but at this point the exhaustion was overwhelming. You could barely stand up straight.
So the two of you laid in bed. You laid on his chest, the top of your head resting in the crook of his neck.
You played with the chain around his neck, twisting and twirling it around your fingers while he absentmindedly ran his hand up and down your back.
“Frank?” you asked quietly.
“Yeah, baby?”
“Those men, do you really think someone will come after me now? Or my mom? What if they try to hurt her-”
“Nobody’s gonna do a damn thing, sweetheart.”
You rest your chin on his chest, looking up at him with tired eyes, you honestly weren’t sure if they were even open all the way.
“But what if-”
“Don’t do that.” he shushed you. “I promise nobody is gonna touch you or your family. I’ll take care of it.”
You decided to drop it for now. It’s not that you didn’t trust Frank. You know without a doubt he would die before letting anyone hurt you or the people close to you.
But you still couldn’t shake this gnawing feeling that something bad was going to happen. You hated the thought of him having to fight a battle on your behalf. Especially one that wouldn’t have even happened if you had kept your emotions in check.
Still, you decided to believe Frank in the moment. Everything would be okay.
Besides, you never felt safer than you did in his arms.
As the breeze from the outside moved through the curtains and over your back, you finally agreed to let sleep overtake you.
You drifted off to sleep to the sound of his heart beating. You felt a light kiss planted on top of your head along with a string of mumbled words,
“No one’s gonna lay a finger on my girl.”

"I really appreciate you helping me out with this, Frank."
Frank looked up from where he was sitting with his back against the brick barrier. "Yeah, well, I owed you one," he replied, "and I'm not a huge fan of being in debt."
The two vigilantes were resting on a vacant rooftop, listening closely for any signs of danger. Hearing nothing, Matt figured the "Devil of Hell's Kitchen" had driven everyone with something to fear from him back inside. He declared his nightly patrol a success. As soon as he switched off attack mode, he felt the exhaustion hit him, and he slumped down on the wall next to Frank.
"So, you're saying you did all this to balance the scales?" Matt asked incredulously.
"Just about," Frank muttered, scratching a little blood stain off the knife Matt let him borrow. "And I only beat up one guy, so it's not like I actually had to work for it."
"I'd say you worked hard enough. I mean, you did make it all night without killing anyone."
"There you go again with that self-righteous bullshit," Frank groaned. "What I don't get is why you would ask someone you constantly feel the need to babysit for help."
Taking a deep breath in, Matt forced himself to stand, getting ready for the walk back to his apartment.
"You were convenient," he explained. "I knew your skills and I knew where to find you. Also, you're not nearly as lethal without all your guns."
"Well, fuck you too," Frank grumbled. He waited for Matt to take a few steps towards the ladder before chucking the knife he was holding directly at the back of his head. He watched it spiral through the air, perfectly on course, only to land gingerly in Matt's hand. It was almost like the knife changed its trajectory at the last second, but Frank knew that wasn't the case. Besides, it's not like he actually wanted to hit him. He didn't even think that was possible.
Matt turned back in his direction. Even through the mask, Frank could feel the raised eyebrow. He ignored it. Hopping up, he made his way over so the two of them could walk together.
"Okay, but why ask for help at all?" Frank pressured. "It's obvious you can handle yourself, and you've never asked before."
"You know as well as anyone how unpredictable these streets can be," Matt began. "You're right, most nights I can handle myself, but. . . I wasn't so sure about tonight. I wanted someone there, just in case."
He was about to start climbing down the ladder, but Frank's voice stopped him before he could.
"Something tells me you're not gonna be so sure about tomorrow, either."
"What?"
"Come on, Red. Look at yourself. You're practically dead on your feet," Frank pointed out. "It's three in the goddamn morning, you just fought like fourteen people, and now, what? You're going home to get your two hours of sleep before work?"
"Four."
"That's still not enough, and you know it."
"I'll be fine," Matt asserted.
"No one can do that every night and be fine."
"Why do you care?"
"Because unlike some people, I actually respect what you do around here, and I don't wanna find out what this shithole would look like without you," Frank raved. There was a long silence after that, both men startled by the declaration.
"You won't."
Matt began his descent, ready to end their conversation. Frank, it seemed, had other plans.
"If you were fine, you wouldn't be taking the ladder," he called down after him.
Matt paused, resting his head against the metal rung in front of him. He was really starting to get aggravated by Frank's incessant concerns. The most annoying part was that he was right. Matt would usually make it home from patrol in two minutes flat, his feet touching nothing but rooftops. He picked a shorter building with a ladder tonight because he feared his body was too sore to make the jumps. To say it had been a rough week would be an understatement.
'You have nothing to prove,' he repeated in his head like a mantra. It worked at first; he made it another three steps down, but then he heard Frank's stupid voice again.
"Why won't you just admit that you're burnt out?"
Matt gritted his teeth, unable to hide his frustration any longer. He gave up on avoiding conflict and began climbing back up to the roof to be on the same level as Frank.
"I am not burnt out," he growled.
There was an awkward pause as Frank looked Matt up and down, thinking. He carefully considered his slumped posture and his shoulders racked with tension. Matt couldn't see him, but he could feel Frank's eyes examining him, and it made him uncomfortable. He was about to say something, but Frank broke the silence before he could.
"When's the last time you got laid?" he asked, sounding genuinely curious.
"I'm sorry-"
"You're not a virgin, are you?"
"What? No!"
"So how long's it been?"
Matt wasn't sure how to feel about the sudden shift in the argument. he kinda felt like he was in a train headed towards a cliff that suddenly veered off course. He was safe from the fall, but who knew what lay ahead of him now?
"Why the hell would you want to know that?" he asked.
"Just answer the question."
"Uhh, a few months? I don't kn-"
He was interrupted again by Frank letting out a low, impressed whistle.
"That's even worse than I thought," Frank said.
"You've thought about this?" Matt asked, horrified.
"No, jesus christ, man, it's obvious. You're all tense 'n shit. You look like you haven't relaxed in a while, that's all."
Matt sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose through his mask. "I think we should go," he mumbled.
"I think you should get some."
"Ok, well it's not like you've got someone waiting for you at home either," Matt snapped.
Frank looked at Matt quizzically, letting out a surprised chuckle.
"What?" Matt asked, exasperated.
"Nothing," Frank responded. "It's just that you really are off your game."
"What are you talking about?"
"There is someone waiting for me at home right now."
"Bullshit."
"I thought you could, like, smell it on me or something," Frank speculated.
Now that he mentioned it, Matt did notice something different about Frank's unique smell. There was a slightly sweeter scent intertwined with his typical smoke and rosewood. He knew Frank wasn't lying, but for some reason he didn't want to believe it.
"I didn't hear anyone else inside when I came to get you," he added.
"She was out with some friends. She should be home by now."
"You realize how made up that sounds, right?"
"Cut the crap. You know it's true."
"Yeah, I know," Matt conceded. "She your girlfriend?"
"Yeah. . . At least, I think she is."
"Do you go out on dates often?" Matt supplied. He made a 'come on' gesture to encourage Frank to follow as he started down the ladder once more.
"I don't exactly know what counts as a date in your world, but I think we do." Frank inhaled sharply as he almost lost his footing on a loose bar.
"Wait, does she know who you are? The terms of your agreement-"
"I remember all the terms, thanks," Frank muttered. "I didn't tell her. She figured it out pretty quick though. Maybe I should grow a beard or somethin'."
"Do you love her?" Matt asked when they reached the bottom. The two of them started off in the same direction for their homes, taking only the deserted back alleys they were all too familiar with.
"Well I've only known her for three months," Frank answered, dusting little flakes of rust off his black jacket, "but I think I'm really starting to. She might just be the prettiest, sweetest girl I've ever known."
"That's a good sign. Okay, one last thing: Does she sleep with other people?"
Frank suddenly looked like he was remembering something funny. "Only if I ask her to," he smirked.
Matt was pretty sure his brain short-circuited, and he stopped dead in his tracks. "The correct answer would have been no," he deadpanned. "Why the hell would you ask someone to do that?"
"Well, Red, there's this thing you should know about my girl. I know she seems all cute and innocent at first, but she's actually the biggest slut I've ever met."
"Okay, TMI," Matt complained. Naturally, Frank ignored him. They began walking again, talking more about Frank's secret girlfriend.
"I'm telling you, man, she's perfect," he bragged. The night we met, I found her blowing some guy behind a bar."
Matt had to admit, that was a little amusing. "And what?" he asked, "you just went up to them and started hitting on her?"
"Not exactly," Frank laughed. "I was just walking home, and the guy she was with thought I said somethin' to him or some shit, 'cause he came over to me and started tryin' to pick a fight, right? Well, anyway, I knocked him out cold. Save the lecture, he was a dick wad and he wasn't even that drunk. But this girl, she thought it was hot, can you believe that? So, she starts hitting on me, saying I look strong and dangerous, 'cause apparently she's into that. She kept asking me to take her back to my place, and she was obviously hammered, so I did, just to keep her safe, you know? Almost immediately, she passes out on my bed, too tired to even try to fuck me anymore. Luckily, when she woke up, she remembered everything that happened, and I gave her my number in case she ever needed me to punch somebody else for her."
"And did she?" Matt prompted. He didn't actually care that much, but it was a decent story and it was definitely helping him keep his mind off his injuries.
"Yeah, two days later," Frank grinned. "She wasn't calling for a bodyguard, though. When I picked up, she told me she hadn't been able to stop thinking about me and was wondering if we could talk for a while so she could 'satisfy her curiosity'."
"She sounds very forward."
"You've got no idea. She's absolutely shameless, especially when she's drunk. You know, when she called me, she spent the whole conversation trying to pretend like she wasn't getting herself off."
"Wait, what?!"
"So, I had to sit there for an hour and listen to her try not to moan, and she's usually pretty good at staying quiet, but sometimes she gets so fuckin' wet that she just can't."
"That's disturbing," Matt lied, and was once again ignored.
"It's real easy for her to cover up the noises coming from her mouth, right? But the other ones. . . not so much. So, the whole time, I was just on my couch talking to her, and I was going absolutely insane 'cause I could hear what she was doing. After a little while, I just snapped and I told her if she wanted to hear my voice that badly, she could come over and I'd help her out."
"And?. . ."
"And she did."
"You slept with her the second time you met?"
"Yep. And the third, and the forth. . . probably the first eight times we got together. I mean, we were just goin' at it like every single night. It was amazing. She's so fuckin' tight, like tighter than most virgins. And she's damn good with her mouth. Like, the first time she sucked me off I almost saw your God. I don't think there's a single thing she can't do. Not much she won't do either."
"Really, dude. Stop."
"Whatever, man. I realized I actually liked her when she spent a full weekend at my place. We went out for lunch and played cards and watched a movie. She was just so smart and funny and I couldn't stand the thought of her leaving," Frank reminisced.
"So, is that when you asked her out?"
"No, that was when I asked her to move in with me."
Matt didn't even know where to start unpacking that. Before he could say anything, Frank stopped walking in front of a tall staircase behind a brick building.
"This is me," he announced.
"Hold on, you still haven't answered my question," Matt reminded him. "Why did you ask her to sleep with someone else?"
"Oh, yeah," Frank mused. "About a month ago, I went out for drinks with this old friend of mine, and was going on and on about how he hadn't gotten laid since his divorce. He seemed about her type, so I took him back to our place and had her take care of him for me."
"And she did it, just like that?"
"I told you she was great, didn't I?" Frank beamed.
"And neither of you cared?" That was something Matt was having trouble comprehending. He'd always been pretty possessive in his relationships, and the thought of sharing his partner was completely foreign to him.
"I am not a selfish man, Red. Anyone who dies without experiencing that pussy has never truly lived."
"Good to know."
Frank leaned casually against the wall behind him, crossing his arms over his chest.
"So, uh. . . you interested?"
It look Matt a moment to process what he was being asked, and when he did, he didn't know how to feel. On the one hand, he didn't want to take any more help from Frank, especially not for something like this. He didn't want to come between a happy couple, either, even by invite. On the other hand, it had been a while, and the girl that had been described to him sounded remarkably satisfying. He began to realize that Frank was right: He seriously needed to get laid.
Frank decided Matt had been thinking a little too long.
"Do you like eating pussy?"
Matt was startled out of his inner turmoil. "You can't just fucking ask someone that," he hissed.
"Why not? You seem like you would," Frank stated nonchalantly.
"Fine. Yes, I do."
"Good. I'm tellin' you right now, there ain't a woman in all of New York that tastes sweeter than my baby. You get between her legs, you come out knowing things you didn't think were possible, swear to God."
"I find that hard to believe," Matt scoffed.
"I mean it. I could spend hours down there. I did once, actually, 'till we both passed out. . . But I guess you'll just have to find out for yourself, won't you? Come on, man. You really need this."
"I don't know, it just doesn't sound like such a good idea."
Frank rolled his eyes. "We're all adults, we can have a little fun. If you want, you can come up to get your dick sucked and then head home. It doesn't have to be a big thing."
"You seem very adamant about this," Matt noted.
"Well, I do aim to please," Frank quipped. "I'm talking about you and her. I think my girl would have a lot of fun with you."
"What makes you say that?"
"You're pretty easy on the eyes, you know. Also, she seems to have a thing for jaded middle-aged vigilantes. So, what do you say? This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Murdock."
Matt sighed, and reached up to rub the back of his neck. For the life of him, he couldn't seem to remember any of his reasons for saying no.
"Alright," he decided.
Frank's face broke into a wolfish grin, and he began ascending the staircase towards the window at the very top of the building. Matt followed close behind him, wincing at the pain in his sides as he climbed. When the two men got to the top, Frank knocked four times at the glass.

You had just finished changing into one of Frank's old t-shirts when you heard the familiar rattling of the window pane. You dried your hands on the bathroom towel and smiled as you went to let your boyfriend back inside.
Using that word was strange to you, but still it made you giddy with excitement. You never thought you would meet someone wonderful enough to settle down with, but finally you had. Frank was the most perfect man you'd ever known. He understood you in ways no one else could, and with him, you were satisfied. That was a miracle in and of itself.
You slid open the creaky window with a hard push, and watched as Frank hopped through it with a gracefulness that contrasted sharply with his bulky exterior. He seemed completely unharmed, as per usual, but you had still been worried about him. There was always that small chance he would come home covered in his own blood and full of broken bones. You were about to tear into him for not leaving a note when you noticed the red figure slipping in behind him.
"Hey, sweetheart, you remember me telling you about Matt, don't you?" Frank asked, cradling your face in his hands and giving you a sweet hello kiss.
"Is this him?" you responded, giving the new arrival a once-over.
"Yeah, this is him. Hey, Red, why don't you introduce yourself."
Matt stepped up to you and offered his hand for you to shake.
"Hi, I'm Matt. Frank's already told me all about you," he said cheerfully, almost like he knew something you didn't.
Frank stepped up behind you, resting his hand on your lower back and leaning in to tell you something.
"If you're up for it, I'm gonna need you to do me a favor, alright?" he mumbled. You could tell Matt heard everything. You remembered what Frank had told you about him and his unique talents.
You turned towards Frank, sliding your hands under his jacket and leaning in close.
"By that, do you mean you're gonna need me to do him a favor?" you wondered. Frank tucked your hair behind your ear and twirled it idly around his fingers.
"He's pretty high strung right now. I figured he might need a little somethin' special to relax."
"I'm perfectly capable of getting laid on my own, Frank," Matt butted in. Frank ignored him.
"Have I told you how beautiful you look today?"
You laughed. "Yes, about twelve times this morning. You don't need to flatter me, I'll do it."
"You're amazing," Frank marveled, giving you another chaste kiss before turning to address Matt.
"How about you start by taking that stupid helmet off. Let my baby see what she's working with."
A small thrill ran through you when you heard Frank address you as his. You watched as Matt pulled his mask off, revealing the rest of his face. He looked a little nervous but you couldn't see why. He was absolutely gorgeous. His messy hair from the suit only added to the effects of his boyish charm. You noticed he did look rather tired, but that did nothing to dull his handsome features. You could tell you were gonna have a lot of fun with this one.
"He's even prettier than you," you joked.
Frank swatted you lightly on the ass and pushed you in Matt's direction. "Watch it," he growled playfully.
You stalked over to Matt and kissed him lightly on the cheek before pulling him over to the couch.
"Are you sure you're okay with this?" you asked gently.
Matt swallowed thickly, trying to adjust to his situation. "Yeah, I'm okay," he responded. You hoped he'd settle in soon. There was something about him that told you he could be a lot of fun when he warmed up. Then again, that was what you were there for.
"What do you want?"
"I'm not exactly sure. Really, I can just go if-"
"No!" you interrupted. "I don't want you to go, I want to make you feel better. I'm okay with whatever you want, promise."
Matt seemed to be struggling to come up with what to say. Honestly, you were feeling a little nervous too, even though there was no reason to be. Suddenly, you realized what the issue was.
"Hey, Frank?" you called out. He came over to the two of you holding a couple of beers in one hand. He passed one to Matt, who accepted it gratefully.
You waited until he was next to you before admitting your problem to him. "I think we feel a little weird because we don't have any rules. Could you maybe. . . tell us what to do?" you asked.
Frank nodded, sitting down in the ratty old armchair next to the couch.
"Why don't you ask me what you wanna do with him, and I'll give you the go-ahead. Sound good, baby?"
You looked over at Matt who seemed to have relaxed some. You definitely found the source of the problem. All you needed was permission.
"Can I kiss him?" you asked.
Frank's eyes were sparkling with his newfound control. "You can kiss him all you want, sugar."
You slid closer to Matt, turning his head towards yours. "Stop me if you get uncomfortable," you whispered, and then leaned in to press your lips to his. Matt groaned and immediately deepened the kiss, eagerly exploring your mouth with his tongue. It was obvious now how much he needed this.
He tasted good in a way you couldn't explain, and you didn't want to pull away until you'd figured out what it was. You could feel the throbbing in your core picking up with every passing moment. Your breath caught when you felt Matt reach up to run his fingers through your hair. Wanting to move things along, you climbed into his lap so you could be pressed against him, chest-to-chest.
"Pull her hair. She likes that," Frank suggested.
Matt complied, tugging gently, then harder when he felt you shiver against him. Leave it to Frank to know exactly what you want and when you want it. You pulled back from the kiss to look at your moderator, rolling your hips hesitantly to gauge his reaction. He nodded, and you watched him palm himself roughly through his pants. That was all the encouragement you needed.
Returning to the kiss, you began grinding down hard against him, hoping that he could feel your movements through his thick suit. Matt reacted in a way that showed you he certainly could, gasping and grabbing onto your hips to push up against you. You moaned when one particularly hard thrust allowed you to feel the outline of his cock through your clothes.
"Oh, what the fuck," you breathed, pulling away from the kiss in shock. There was no way in hell he was that big. You settled your weight fully on his lap, gently rocking back in forth to feel more of him. You had to make sure that you weren't just imagining things. You weren't. He was absolutely fucking huge. You weren't sure how he was supposed to fit inside you, but dammit if you weren't excited to find out.
Matt seemed amused by your reaction to your recent discovery. He could smell the sudden increase in your arousal that accompanied the feeling of you getting wetter. You felt his hands tighten on your hips, holding you still as he grinded up against you. Every thrust was deep and dirty, inciting the growing heartbeat between your legs. It felt like he was showing off, or using his knowledge of a secret you had to tease you.
"Feel something you like, baby?" Frank asked from the sidelines.
"Uh-huh," You responded inattentively. You were too focused on the feeling of Matt's bulge rubbing against you to say much more than that.
"Why don't you head on down to the bedroom, alright sweetheart? We'll meet you there in a minute," Frank urged.
Reluctantly, Matt released you and you wandered down the hall to wait for the two men to come join you.
Frank waited for you to be out of earshot before moving to the couch next to Matt. They sat for a second, sipping at their drinks before Frank spoke.
"I know you have a fuck ton of ideas about how you should treat a woman, but I'm gonna need you to forget that shit before I take you back there, okay? I'm doing this for you, but if you don't make this good for her, I will kick you out, got it? She's not interested in your kindness tonight. She wants you to treat her like an object. Like a dumb whore you're just using to get off. I know you've got a dark side in there somewhere, Red. I need you to tell me right now if you think you can use it."
Matt never expected that to be something that would intrigue him. It had always seemed so cruel and taboo. . . but if it was what you wanted. . .
"I can."
"Good." Frank stood up and began walking towards the bedroom. After a few steps, he remembered something and turned back around. "Also, what the hell, man? I'm not letting you fuck her without stretching her out first. I know I said you could hurt her, but I don't want you to make her bleed."
When they made it to the bedroom, they found you laying back against the pillows, gently teasing your clit through your panties. When they came through the doorway, you pulled your hand away, looking up at Frank shyly. He raised an eyebrow at you, scoffing at your innocent expression.
"You couldn't wait two minutes?" He sighed. "I'm not gonna embarrass you in front of our guest, baby, but next time you might not be so lucky."
"I'm sorry," you whined.
"No you're not." Frank came around the bed to sit next to you and directed Matt to sit down on your other side. "I think it's about time to take this off, what do you think?" Frank asked, tugging on the hem of your (his) shirt. You nodded, and he pulled it over your head, leaving you completely naked save for your soft cotton panties.
"What do you want right now, baby? His mouth or his fingers?" Frank offered, turning your head towards him. You were a little confused that those were your only options. Weren't you supposed to be making Matt feel good? Confusion aside, you still couldn't choose. They both sounded very appealing.
"Damn, Red. You must've done a good job back there. She's already having trouble thinking," he teased, flicking you gently on the forehead. "Why don't you use both?" he suggested.
Matt smiled, beginning to understand how Frank expected him to treat you. "If she's all fuzzy from a little kiss, are you sure she'd be able to handle both?"
"I guess we'll just have to find out, won't we?"
You weren't sure what it was, but when Frank talked about you like you weren't there, a combination of arousal and safety washed over you. It always seemed to put you in a different headspace.
Matt climbed on top of you, finding your lips again as he slid your underwear down past your knees for you to kick off. He pulled your legs apart and began tracing your folds gently with his fingertips. Every touch was a completely new sensation. Matt was experimenting, figuring out where you were most sensitive, which motions you preferred and how hard he had to rub your clit to make you whimper.
He circled his fingers around your entrance, dipping into you just enough to feel you pulse and tighten around him, trying to pull him deeper. Right before you started begging, he pushed two of his fingers all the way in, curling them to explore your soft walls. It didn't take long for you to gasp and melt into the pillows as he brushed against your sweet spot. You hid your face in his neck, whining as he assaulted it over and over while bringing his thumb up to massage your clit.
Frank shushed you gently from his spot on the bed, reaching over to stroke your hair as you shook from the intense stimulation. You felt yourself dripping down Matt's fingers, and you could hear the wet sounds you were making as he fucked them in and out of your tight heat.
He pulled you right up to the edge before you heard Frank tell him to stop.
"Not yet," he muttered. "She'll get worn out after the third one, so you should probably make 'em count."
You huffed as Matt pulled his fingers out, earning you a proud and dangerous smirk. He gave you another sweet kiss as an apology.
"Sorry, angel. I don't make the rules," he reminded you.
Any disappointment you felt was soon replaced by the image of Matt sliding down the bed to get between your legs and pull them over his shoulders. Almost as an afterthought, he brought his hand up to his mouth to taste the palm you had drenched. As soon as his tongue touched his skin, you saw a muscle in his jaw twitch. His eyes darkened to look almost predatory, and he tightened his grip on your thighs. He glanced in Frank's direction, silently begging for his permission to proceed.
You didn't see Frank's approval, but you knew exactly when Matt got it because he dove into your cunt like it was a fucking desert oasis. In a lot of ways, it was. He wasted no time with teasing, instead shoving his tongue inside of you as deep as he could get it. Your vision went blurry as your eyes rolled back in your head. Grasping desperately at his hair, you pulled him harder against you until you were worried you would hurt him, but he barely seemed to notice.
He drew his tongue out to give your soaked pussy a few hungry licks, drinking up everything that dripped out of you. The wet noises he created with every suck or swipe of his tongue were enough to have your face flushed with embarrassment and excitement.
Feeling ignored, Frank grabbed your jaw, pulling you into a fervent kiss. He dislodged one of your hands from Matt's hair, guiding it over to rub at his clothed erection. You squeezed him through his pants, humming happily when you felt him twitch and grind up into your palm. Deftly, you undid his button and zipper, tugging his pants down just enough to slip your fingers under the waistband of his underwear. You didn't do anything else until he said it was okay.
"You want it, baby?" he murmured against your lips. You nodded, pushing your hand farther in, but you just barely managed to brush against it before he grabbed your wrist. He broke the kiss to look you in the eye, moving his hand from your jaw to gently hold your neck.
"You gotta use your words, sweetheart. You know that," he crooned.
"Please, can I touch it?" you sighed, moaning when Matt started stroking your clit again. Frank used his grip on your wrist to pull your hand deeper in until you could firmly grab his aching cock. You began tugging it slowly as it pulsed and hardened further in your grasp. You swiped the pad of your thumb over his slit and felt him drip onto your fingers, easing the glide of your palm.
You felt yourself getting close again when Matt stuffed his fingers back inside you and sucked hard at your clit. This time, no one stopped you from falling over the edge. You sobbed as your release rushed through you, tightening your thighs around Matt's head and your hand around Frank's cock. Matt groaned against you, savoring the scent and the taste of your satisfaction. Frank hissed at the added pressure, thrusting up into your fist which was slick with his precum.
The two men reluctantly pulled away from you as you came down from your high, giving you time to catch your breath. They returned to their positions on either side of you, stroking your hair or your shoulders as you refocused on reality.
"You were right," Matt announced, breathing almost as heavily as you were.
Frank smirked, looking over you to assess Matt's disheveled state. "Yeah? 'Bout what, exactly?" he asked.
"Everything," He admitted dreamily. To anyone who didn't know the effect you had on fortunate men, he might seem drunk or high. You supposed he kinda was.
"You were talking about me?" you whispered, hiding your face in Frank's neck. He wrapped an arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer to him.
"I was just braggin' about how good you are, baby," he promised.
Matt laughed quietly at Frank's statement like it was an inside joke no one else would understand.
"He said a lot more than that," Matt disclosed to you. "He said you were the biggest slut he'd ever met. Honestly, he would not shut up about how tight you were, or how good you tasted. I thought he was exaggerating, but I think you just proved me wrong."
You smiled into Frank's shoulder, enjoying the attention. He tapped you lightly on the hip to get you to focus on him.
"I believe you were just given a compliment," he signaled.
Taking the hint, you rolled over to face Matt, angling his face towards you to give him a soft kiss as a thank you.
You looked down to where he was straining against the fabric of his suit. A small wet spot was becoming more visible at the tip of his swollen bulge. You caught yourself before you stared for too long, worried you might start salivating if you let your mind wander far enough.
"That looks uncomfortable," you pointed out. "You should probably take it off before it starts hurting you."
Matt agreed, standing up beside the bed to start stripping off his clothes. If he were dressed normally, you would offer to help, but you didn't even know where to begin with that thing.
"I'm sure she wants to return the favor," Frank advised Matt. "I'll go ahead get her stretched out while you use her mouth, alright?"
When Matt was in just his boxers, you tugged him back down to take your spot in the middle and climbed on top of him. Frank had stood up to finish taking off his own clothes, and when he was done, he kneeled behind you on the bed to get you in the right position.
You found yourself face-to-face with Matt's thinly veiled hard-on and your ass up high for Frank to take you from behind. He slid three of his fingers inside you, pumping them in and out a few times to see how relaxed you already were. As soon as you had freed Matt from his final barricade, Frank pulled his fingers out and shoved his cock inside you in one smooth thrust. You moaned loudly at the sudden intrusion, wincing at the stretch but enjoying it nonetheless. Frank gave you a moment to gather your bearings before he began to move.
"Focus on him, baby. He's the one you're supposed to be paying attention to," Frank directed. That was easier said than done when you were being relentlessly fucked from behind, but you had been wanting to get your mouth on him for a while now, and you weren't gonna pass up the opportunity.
Now that you were seeing him in person, Matt's size was almost intimidating. You were glad Frank took it upon himself to stretch you out first, because you were sure you'd be feeling it in your stomach when it was time to switch. His head looked tight and angry, and you watched as a small bead of clear fluid welled out of the tip and ran down the side. You leaned in to catch it with your tongue, whining softly at the taste.
"There you go, sweetheart," Frank praised.
You licked a long stripe up the underside, stopping when you got to the top to suckle gently at the head. You wrapped your hand around the base to stroke him firmly as you focused on taking the first few inches comfortably. It was already stretching your mouth quite a bit and your jaw was aching from trying to force yourself down on it. Before long, your spit was dripping onto your fingers and sliding down to settle at the base, creating slick sounds as you tugged at his length.
You moaned around him when Frank gave a particularly pointed thrust, nailing your spot dead-on. Provoked by your reaction, he repeated the same motion until your eyes rolled back in your head and you could no longer focus on the task at hand.
"Come on, pretty girl. You can take more than that," Frank fussed. "If you want his help, you can ask for it. Don't be shy, baby."
You were reluctant to ask because you wanted to prove yourself to Matt, but you didn't think you would be able to take more on your own. Usually, you were pretty good relaxing your throat, but there was no way you could swallow even half of him without choking. If you wanted to make him feel good, you would need him to take over and force you to blow as much of him as he wanted.
You pulled off of his cock teasingly, hollowing out your cheeks on the way up and swirling your tongue around the tip. You gave it one more little kiss before resuming your strokes, looking up at him to see which motions garnered the best reactions.
"Please," you whined, using your other hand to guide his to your hair.
"Please what, sweet girl?" Matt asked, petting you gently where you placed his hand. You swallowed your pride, giving in completely to both of them. You no longer had anything to prove. You were ready to be used however they saw fit, not caring about anything except making them feel good.
"Please, fuck my mouth."
"Aww, is it too big for you?" Matt consoled, his voice dripping with false sympathy. "Do you need my help, angel? You're already being fucked on one end, is that not enough?" he mocked, tightening his grip on your hair.
He knocked your hand away from his cock, replacing it with his own so he could rub it across your lips. You opened your mouth for him, and he slowly pulled your head down, forcing you to take him in until you choked. He held you there for a moment, groaning and thrusting up into the wet heat of your mouth before letting you take a breath. He continued like that for a while, guiding your head up and down, forcing you to go deeper each time until you couldn't take anymore.
Behind you, Frank wedged a finger in beside his cock, grunting at the added friction. You gasped at the new stretch, your release slamming into you unexpectedly. You arched your back and pushed into the feeling as he deftly attacked your sweet spot. Frank grinned at your reaction, smacking your ass once to watch you jump and hear your muffled yelp.
"I'm just tryin' to get you loosened up. I didn't mean for you to like it that much, you slut," he teased affectionately. He slipped in another finger, curling them to tug gently at your entrance until he felt that you were ready.
He took his fingers away, giving you a few more hard thrusts before he slid his cock out too, leaving you completely empty. He left a sweet kiss at the base of your spine, letting you know you had done a good job, and moved around you to talk to Matt.
"She's ready for you, if you're interested," Frank informed cockily. He watched how Matt was thoroughly fucking your mouth, hitting the back of your throat with every thrust, pulling you down to meet him half-way. You were doing much better than Frank had expected you to. It looked like your mind was somewhere far away, and you were just letting Matt use your mouth as a cocksleeve.
He started slowing down his movements, letting you up further and further, until you were back to just sucking at his head while he gently stroked your cheek with his thumb. Finally, he pulled you off of him with a soft, wet pop, edging out from under you so he could switch places with Frank. You whined at your sudden emptiness, burying your face in Frank's stomach as he took Matt's vacant spot.
"Is she always this desperate?" Matt asked, replacing Frank behind you. Frank laughed, caressing your head softly as you began mouthing and licking at his abs.
"Pretty much. Actually, she's doing better than she usually is. I think she's just upset that she didn't get you to finish."
"Really? She likes that part?"
"Oh, she loves it. Some days, she even asks me to pull out so I can come in her mouth. Ain't that right, baby?"
You nodded into his hip, sucking a dark bruise into his v-line.
"Why don't you go ahead and finish me off," Frank suggested to you. "I'm sure it'll make you feel better."
He grabbed himself around the base, enticingly pressing the wet head against the seam of your lips. Without hesitation, you took him into your mouth and swallowed him all the way down. You moaned lowly, purring at the feeling of being able to take him comfortably down your throat. He wasn't small by any means, but he was more familiar and significantly less jaw-breaking that Matt.
"Fuck, baby," Frank groaned, tugging at your hair. You were content just to stay like that for a while, holding his heavy length on your tongue and feeling him subtly grind his tip against the back of your throat. With your head still, you could feel every little twitch and taste yourself in every drop that leaked down your throat.
"You wanna move at all?" Frank asked, his muscles tight with restraint. In response, you nuzzled your nose against his skin, swallowing around him in the hopes that he'd let you stay there.
"No? You just like having your sweet little holes filled, huh? That's fine, sugar. You don't have to move an inch, but I'm gonna need more than that if you wanna make me come. Do you wanna make me come, baby?"
You hummed your assent, the vibrations sending a shiver up Frank's spine.
"Then suck," he commanded, and you obeyed. You used as much suction as you could manage, creating a satisfying friction without all the typical motions. You teased the underside of his cock with the flat of your tongue, listening to his quiet grunts as you drew him closer to the edge.
Behind you, Matt was listening to the sound of your wet cunt dripping onto the bedsheets. He kneaded your ass and thighs in his hands, ensuring that you were fully relaxed before trying to fuck you. Soon, he was nestling his cock between your soaked folds, lining himself up with your tight entrance.
He rubbed the small of your back as he began pushing himself in. He was met with an alarming amount of resistance, and he didn't even get the first inch in before you were clenching down around him and letting out a pained whimper. He pulled back, afraid he would tear something if he carried on.
"Frank, it's not gonna fit," Matt told him. Frank huffed, too busy chasing his own pleasure to think about problem-solving.
"It'll fit, just keep going," he reassured. "She likes the stretch. Hurry up and fuck her already."
"If I tried, I would break her," Matt warned. "Why don't we test out a different position?"
"Fine. Hang on for just a second."
Frank tightened his grip on your hair, whispering a quick apology before pulling you halfway off of him. He gave you no warning before he was slamming back in, forcing a surprised squeak out of your chest as he ruthlessly fucked your mouth. Barely a minute passed before Frank's thrusts grew sloppy and more desperate. His cock pulsed wildly against your tongue, and he let out a guttural groan as he came hard down your throat. You eagerly swallowed every drop that spilled out of him, waiting for him to soften a bit before releasing him from your mouth. Laving sweetly at the sides, you cleaned him up as best you could before he pushed your head away from oversensitivity.
"Alright," Frank mumbled, scooting over so you could take his spot in the middle. "On your back, baby."
You flipped over to face Matt, opening your legs so he could settle in between them.
"Pretty slut," he commended, leaning in to kiss you as he lined up with your needy hole once more. "We're gonna make it fit, alright? Don't you worry your cute little head about it."
As soon as the words left his mouth, he began pushing his hips towards yours, his thick cockhead stretching you out obscenely. You winced at the pain, trying to force yourself to relax, but it wasn't working. Matt grunted at the vice grip you had on him, but he didn't advance further until he felt you could handle more.
From beside you, Frank played with your hair and kissed your neck in all your favorite spots until he had taken your mind off the pain. When Matt felt you unclench, he gave you another inch, once again stopping to allow you time to adjust. He continued on like that for a while, feeding his cock into your pussy in small increments until he was completely buried inside you.
As soon as the pain subsided, feeling something that deep was absolutely incredible. You felt yourself get wetter when you realized you could just barely make out the outline of his length poking through your tummy. It was evident to both of you from the very start that this wasn't gonna last long.
"Holy shit, you're squeezing me so tight," Matt groaned, starting a series of very shallow thrusts to get you used to the feeling. "This is what you were made for, sweetheart. You feel so fuckin' good," he praised. Slowly, he began picking up speed, fucking you harder and deeper like he couldn't control it anymore. You felt so full, you figured it was a miracle that he was even able to get half-way in. You couldn't stop the noises that Matt punched out of you with every heightened thrust. Because of his immense size, there was never a moment when he wasn't rubbing directly against your most sensitive areas.
Matt could sense that you were getting close, and he knew he wouldn't be far behind you. He started snapping his hips into yours impossibly harder, spurred on by the prospect of your impending release.
"You gonna come on my cock, angel? It's okay, you can come," Matt encouraged. He heard you cry out and smelled the sudden spike in your arousal. He knew he had you right on the edge. "Come for me sweetheart," he breathed.
You almost screamed as you came, your body arching up off the bed, every muscle tightening and trembling as your pleasure coursed through them. Matt cursed at the feeling of your walls clenching and fluttering around him. He let out a subdued moan as he fucked into you three more times before coming deep inside you. You felt the comforting warmth dripping down your thighs when he slipped out and collapsed on the bed beside you.
When you came down from your high, the night's exertion finally caught up with you. You cuddled into Frank's chest, and he pulled you closer, murmuring to you about how good you were for them. Matt slotted his body into place behind yours, leaving kisses on the back of your neck and stroking your side gently.
"Thank you," he whispered, and before you could respond, he was already asleep. You were about to follow suit, but a thought popped into your head, keeping you awake.
"Is this gonna be a one-time-thing?" you asked Frank, opening your eyes to see his face. He didn't seem surprised by your question. Honestly, he seemed like he'd been expecting it.
"It doesn't have to be," he responded. "If he's ever up for it again, I'd be fine with it."
You nodded, closing your eyes again and starting to drift off to sleep. You passed out in less than a minute, but not before you heard Frank say something that, in the morning, you thought must have been a dream. Nevertheless, it was nice to pretend it was real.
"I love you, baby."

The clouds were brown tonight, covering the inky blackness of the sky like a mass of cotton gathering up the streetlights of Hell's Kitchen. Everything seemed to be reflecting off a lake, the puddles of rain from earlier in the day having settled on every rooftop in the city in a myriad of mirrors.
It was quiet, abnormally quiet even. Hell's Kitchen wasn't exactly your typical idyllic holiday destination; on the contrary, it was the place to flee if you had the chance. Crime had its patch on every street corner, and not a single day or night went by without something happening.
But now, nothing. No problems. No calls for help. Just the calm of an evening.
Sitting on the edge of a roof, your legs dangling boredly in the air, you listened to your little radio set beside your thigh, hoping that one of the police stations would report a problem. But everything was peaceful.
It had already been a few months since you had taken on the attire of the night, taken on the role of vigilante in Hell's Kitchen, and every evening you found yourself chasing crime out of town like a broom sweeping dust out of the way.
It wasn't necessarily an easy rhythm. After an already long day at work, you usually tried to get some sleep before starting your patrol. You'd realised that although there was no particular time for crime, most of them started after midnight.
But it was already one o'clock in the morning and there was nothing to report. You wondered whether perhaps you were doing your job as a vigilante too well. If you did, this kind of evening was set to happen, because if you did eradicate every crime all at once, there wouldn't be any left for later. The bitter reassurance that, unfortunately, crime, born since the dawn of time, would only die with men, gripped your heart.
The pace of it all was sometimes exhausting, but the advantage of all this was that you weren't really working alone any more. At first, the idea of joining forces with anyone to bring justice to the world of night seemed complicated, for several reasons.
Firstly, coordination: having team-mates implied having a certain connection so that even without words being spoken, everything ran smoothly.
And secondly, attachment. An environment like this where every night can be your last if you don't keep a minimum of vigilance can prove destructive. It would be too painful to lose an ally, and even more so if it was your turn to leave and they found themselves grieving.
But colleagues - no, partners? Friends? Whatever, the allies you found on certain nights were probably the most resilient human beings you'd ever met, to the point where the very thought of them dying was impossible. After all, when you're working with two people who have both withstood a bullet to the head and who are sure of themselves, you can't help but feel safe - or very small and miserable in their presence.
You had met them on patrol when the sounds of banging and groans of pain could be heard in an alleyway. Immediately, you had split the sphere of your personally modified Bolas and had helped in the fight after observing the side you had to take. Recognising criminals had become like a sixth sense, but above all you had recognised Daredevil's outfit in the semi-darkness and the silhouette that appeared to be that of Frank Castle.
You were familiar with the work of both of them, had seen enough of their appearances in the newspapers and heard their actions on the radio enough to know that the two men fighting the dozen or so others below were none other than these two.
You had helped them, immobilising a man here, strangling a man of the thread of your bolas there, while the two acolytes were both taking part in the fight. It was only at the end of the latter that the barrage of questions began.
"Who are you?" was of course the first question Matt asked.
"Who do you work for?" was the first question Frank raised, naturally.
It didn't take too long for you to explain that crime was swarming around the city like cockroaches in a dirty carpet and that you wanted to clean up just like them.
Frank was suspicious, Matt was calm, and you were sweating buckets, dreading their every reaction. They weren't exactly idols to you, but you had great respect for them.
It was when Matt agreed that you were sincere and that there was nothing to fear about you that Frank relaxed a bit, without letting go of his grouchy and suspicious attitude. You'd assumed at first that Frank wouldn't appreciate such a radical change of routine that included bringing a new member into the evening vigilante group, but Matt had assured him that having one more person would allow them to be more effective.
And soon, you'd be meeting up from time to time in the evening if you were lucky enough to bump into each other.
First, you didn't reveal your identity immediately. There was a kind of silent agreement between the three of you on the subject. Of course, Frank's identity was no longer a mystery, but Matt's remained particularly anonymous for a long time.
Once enough trust had been established for Frank not to grumble at you at every given occasion, you were officially introduced.
You learned that Matthew Murdock was a blind lawyer with very heightened senses, and that Frank Castle lived with him, taking on a series of remote jobs under a different identity since his name was not really known in a very positive way.
You didn't see each other outside of work, often too busy with your own lives to find time to see each other, even if you didn't discuss your free time... at first anyway.
You had exchanged phone numbers, in case an emergency arose and you suddenly needed help. Your exchanges were very cordial, sending addresses or locations when help was needed or to investigate something suspicious.
The first much less professional encounter was on a more turbulent night than the others, when you were cut badly on the leg, flank and arm, with an additional cut to your lip from a punch.
According to Matt, your costume was similar to the one he wore when he first started as Daredevil. Dark clothes, something to hide your face and combat boots, needless to say that with just these to cover you up, you were extremely vulnerable.
When the fighting stopped, you didn't even have time to wince in pain that Matt was already beside you with a glove off and removing his helmet as Frank observed the situation.
"How bad is it?" Frank had asked, tilting his head to the side as the fabric covering your body darkened with blood.
"As bad as it looks to you and feels to me," Matt sighed as his fingertips brushed the skin of your side.
"It's all right," you assured them, moving slightly away from Matt and his touch, "really, it's fine."
"Are you sure? You look like you can barely walk properly." Matt had asked, obviously knowing that no, everything wasn't all right.
Probably because he'd used that speech over and over again himself, that and the simple fact that your body looked like a cute little pinocchio with a nose extended to its ears.
"Yeah yeah, no big deal - argh!" you started before Frank put his hand on the gaping wound in your arm. “Hey!”
"No big deal, eh? If it was no big deal ya wouldn't be reacting like this."
"It's nothing, really."
You had no idea if you sounded convincing… well, from the look on both their faces, you weren’t. Frank crossed his arms over his chest, looking you up and down as he bit the inside of his cheek.
You felt tiny under his gaze like that, barely lifting your eyes to look into his. There was a dark insistence in his stare, and you could tell he was frustrated, only whether it was about you or the situation in itself you weren't sure.
"What d’you say Red ?" he said after seconds that felt like minutes.
You turned to Matt, his gaze fixed as usual on a point in the void. But that didn't stop his eyes from being expressive, and the rest of his face reinforced them. You watched in the half-light the way his jaw muscles twitched in the lamplight and your heart fell in your stomach.
"Our flat is closer to here than hers," was what he ended up saying.
Your heart went right back up your chest as you blinked fast, frowning at the sentence he had so casually said.
"I'm sorry, what?" you asked, "how do you know I'm-" but you didn't finish your own sentence before starting the next, "you followed me all the way to my place?"
Matt put both hands on his hips with a sigh, biting his lower lip before finally answering.
"We had a bit of a scare the other night when you were cut on the shoulder. We just wanted to make sure... that you got home okay."
Your lips parted in surprise, shifting then from Matt to Frank, who was looking at his feet as if the ground was far more interesting than anything he had to say at the moment. You weren't sure how to feel about that.
In a way, you found it strange that they'd followed you home without telling you anything about it, but Matt with his keen senses would probably have known where you were sooner or later. Besides, it was well-intentioned, and the sudden thought that they cared about you - no, about your state - was surprisingly heart-warming.
"In any case," Matt continued, clearing his throat, "ours is a lot closer than yours, and in your current state, you could do with some treatment when you get there."
"I'm not planning to stay the night, am I?" you laughed nervously.
"Why not?" said Frank, raising his eyebrows and his shoulders in one gesture.
From now on, victory would go to the one with the most convincing argument.
"Well, I've got work tomorrow," you began, already thinking about the pain you'd have to endure in the morning when you woke up.
You could still feel your warm blood clinging to your clothes, and the sensation was becoming increasingly unpleasant.
"Say you're unwell, isn't far off the mark," Frank replied, pointing with a lazy wave of his hand at your body.
"But I don't have any clothes to spend the night in." You retorted, although the argument was easily contradicted by Matt's remark.
"We'll lend you some, it's no big deal," he assured you.
"I don't have a toothbrush," you retorted, as if that couldn't possibly be of any importance in this setting.
"We're not Cro-Magnons, we have backup ones," Matt laughed softly.
It was becoming a little more complicated to come up with relevant arguments. The blood loss was making you dizzy, weak, and preventing you from standing properly without grimacing every second while focusing all your attention on each cut and the intense burning sensation it gave you.
It wasn't so much that you didn't want to go, because on the contrary you found yourself enjoying their company more and more. It was simply the fact that...
"I'm afraid of imposing myself on you and bothering you." You said, looking away.
You were colleagues up to now, people who shared a common interest in justice, and you didn't mind their company. Only, you'd added to the mix completely unexpectedly. They'd already been working together before, even living together. You didn't know a great deal about their private lives and here you were, the millstone, getting hurt in the middle of a patrol and not being able to make a move without everything hurting.
You turned towards them again. The look on Frank's face was like the typical reaction of a human being who has just witnessed the greatest absurdity of all, while Matt's mouth was half-open in surprise. It almost seemed to you that saying that simple sentence had been a mistake.
"That's it, you're coming with us," Matt confirmed.
"Definitely," Frank affirmed as he approached you and placed one of his hands behind your back.
"Hey wait-" you had no say in the matter, though, as Frank's second hand came up behind your knees and lifted you off the ground.
Your hands barely grasped the back of his neck, wincing as you writhed in pain. You wouldn't have minded being carried. The fatigue of the evening weighed on each of your limbs as if they were full of lead.
You knew how to walk, one step in front of the other like most, and the suddenness of being lifted so easily into the air felt funny. You couldn't help fidgeting, caressing the hope of finding a position more comfortable than one that made you feel every inch of your skin open to the night air.
"Stop movin’ like a chicken ‘bouta have its throat cut," Frank grumbled as the two of them started walking.
"Put it on the ground and the chicken will calm down," you breathed through clenched teeth of discomfort.
"It's not a very long walk, I promise." Matt reassured you.
You huffed, clutching the collar of Frank's jacket to prevent yourself from squeezing the back of his neck too hard and getting another remark. You were torn between the uneasiness of the stir he made with every step, which you felt in every wound, and the new comfort you found in the embrace of his arms.
You felt so... safe that way. And not just with Frank, because you felt the same sense of tranquillity with Matt. They were both involved in your life in such an unusual way and they still managed to make you feel comfortable.
You'd never been so close to him, snuggled up against him and held in his strong arms. As close as you were to his body, you could smell him. A mix of cool and warm.
He carried the smoky but crisp scent of the night, the fresh but dark air, like the smell of a just-cut apple leaving its cool scent on the blade of the knife that has just sliced it. And all of this was strangely relieving.
Your eyes drifted to his neck, which was inevitable considering how close you were to it. Your gaze focused on his Adam's apple, ready to be covered by his perpetual stubble, letting your eyes slide up to his marked, strong jawline. You weren't in the habit of observing someone so closely, especially when that someone was handsome.
The journey across his face continued, passing from his full lips, to his nose bumped by the many blows he must have received in the face, to conclude this pleasant silent voyage with his eyes. Beneath a pair of stern eyebrows were two onyxes, shyly illuminated by the few street lamps on the deserted streets you were travelling through. You had seen them turn black like those of a shark that had smelled blood.
If you didn't know that look would never be meant for you, you'd be afraid of them.
You'd spent enough time with them in combat situations to know that their rage alone could bring a man down with a look. You hoped you'd never have to pay the price of it.
But this close, you didn't feel in danger, although the very idea that such dark eyes of vengeance and bitterness and death might pass over yours made you shudder.
“You’re staring, little one,” Frank remarked, his gaze never wavering from the path in front of him.
Too embarrassed by your own behaviour, you nestled your head on his shoulder, resting your forehead on it as your neck and cheeks heated up. You felt a little foolish as you felt your heart beating frantically between your ribs, and the very idea that Matt could undoubtedly hear it made you want to be swallowed up by a hole in the ground and disappear.
When were you going to get to that bloody flat where you would - hopefully - never again have to be so close to one of them without your thoughts getting carried away ?
Your wishes were granted, as you soon found yourselves standing in front of a door that Matt habitually opened, letting Frank go first as he pressed you closer to him to get through the doorway. With a single breath, his scent invaded you more and more until, for a few moments, your thoughts were focused on nothing but him.
The sudden closeness of him made you feel your cheek brush against the nape of his neck, cool in the night air, but enough for your own skin to heat up slightly.
Internally, you were slapping yourself in the face. Now was not the time to let yourself be bewitched by your colleagues, although the fact that you would be spending the night with them would intensify those thoughts.
Your reflections kept you prisoner enough that you didn't realise until you'd climbed the stairs that you were about to enter Matt's flat. No... their flat.
This reality dropped into your stomach like a heavy stone. They're together, so don't try or think anything that might disappoint you. Tonight... It's just business. It's just help they're giving you, that's all it is.
Perhaps it was a cruel lack of affection that made you repeat all this to yourself, but whatever the case, your inner monologue gradually died down as your attention was drawn to the inside of the place.
It was big, really big for a flat, and for a moment the idea of Matt and Frank being rich occurred to you. It wasn't until Frank moved further into the living room that your eyes fell almost painfully on the neon lighting that illuminated the whole room.
And the more you looked, the more the charm of the place intensified. Of course, the neon had to be a problem. And yes, the walls had faded wallpaper and cracked paint. And maybe the windows could have done with a bit of a wipe down.
But the cosy atmosphere the flat had was delightful. The warmth that greeted you as you entered was gentle and reassuring. You noticed that there was little smell in the flat, nothing too strong at least so far.
"On the sofa, she's already lost enough blood for the evening," Matt pointed out as he left for his kitchen.
Ah, right, Matt's senses, you almost forgot. The reason for the absence of perfume or overpowering scents in their flat was surely that it could prove abrasive on his olfactory sensitivity and generally on his senses.
Frank didn't hesitate for a moment, gently lowering you onto the leather sofa, which you felt sink under your back. The sudden change of position made you wince and whimper, the pain of your wounds hitherto camouflaged by your comfort in Frank's arms resurfacing to inflame your skin.
Frank watched you for a moment, frowning as he observed with serious eyes the dark stains that soaked through the various fabrics of your outfit. Without a word, he walked away, and a few seconds later Matt appeared in your field of vision, a bottle of amber liquid in his hand.
"We're going to need you to take off your top and trousers, do you think you can do that?"
The heat rose to your cheek, making you realise that with those wounds on your body, it was inevitable that you would end up naked if they wanted to do anything to help fix you.
You pressed your teeth into your lower lip, keeping it prisoner for a moment and grunting as the gesture made you reopen your little wound.
"I'll try," you croaked, trying to unclench the hand that had been glued to your side until now.
The bleeding seemed to have eased, the blood slightly caking to your hand as you pulled it free with an exhaled whimper. The sudden contact of air on your skin felt like an icy slap, your chest rising and falling rapidly as you tried to calm yourself.
Your head tumbling back on the comfortable leather, you tried to get your hands to the sides of your T-shirt, pulling at the fabric. The material rubbed against your gaping wound, and you gritted your teeth as you breathed heavily.
Matt swallowed, clenching his jaw before kneeling in front of you.
"I can help you, if you don't mind," he offered, his hands coming to rest on your ankles as he began to remove your shoes.
Your reflex would usually have been to say no, your determination to achieve everything on your own without help from others blocking such opportunities. But the more you thought about it, the more the taste of resignation grew in your mouth.
At the rate you were going, getting undressed would take a considerable amount of time, time that Matt and Frank could probably have spent doing something more interesting than helping someone like you. So you gave in.
The blood from your split lip spilled back into your mouth, your tongue running over the cut and burning you. Wrinkling your nose in pain and breathing through your teeth, you nodded vigorously as you readjusted yourself on the sofa.
Matt sat up straight on his knees and faced you, his hands first feeling the leather of the sofa to find your thigh. He gently skimmed along the fabric, his hand brushing the wound on your thigh and making you grunt slightly.
"Sorry," he murmured softly. "The bleeding seems to have stopped," his confirmation letting his hand travel up to your waist.
His second joined in, avoiding the path of his twin again, and finding the sides of your top.
"Can you put your arms up for me?" he asked softly.
You swallowed, chewing the inside of your cheek as you took a deep breath. Then you did the seemingly impossible by lifting your arms. Your shoulders felt like they were made of lead, and your whole body seemed to be made of nothing but aches and pains.
When the fabric and movement rubbed against the wound on your arm, which you had barely raised, your hand instinctively came to press against it, letting a small, contorted whimper escape from your lips.
Matt let out a sigh, but he didn't seem exasperated or annoyed, more concerned or sharing your pain. Just then Frank came back into the living room, a first aid kit in hand as he came up beside you.
"We're going to have to cut your shirt off," Matt warned.
You sighed, feeling deeply incapable. When did taking off a shirt become so complicated? Every cut on your body was starting to burn severely, and you felt like throwing yourself into a lake of ice water to soothe the pain.
Frank pulled the scissors out of the kit, sitting down next to you and letting the sofa sink beneath him.
"We'll get you a new one," he promised as the cold kiss of the scissor blades touched your skin for a moment near the wound on your arm, bringing a short-lived respite.
Frank tugged at the fabric to pull it away from your skin, then after a few scissor strokes tore the material of your t-shirt as if it were paper with a sharp tear.
The cold skin of his fingers, still covered in the cool of the outside air, came to rest on your skin, and it was as if night met day, as the moon touched the sun with its fingertips, illuminating each of its craters and cuts.
Meanwhile, Matt unbuckled your belt gently, unbuttoning your trouser button at the same time and pulling on the fly until his fingers brushed the birth of...
"Sorry about the whisky but we didn't have anything else," he said apologetically as he took hold of the edges of your trousers.
"Aren't you guys sponsored by first aid kits at this point?" you asked through clenched teeth.
Waiting for Frank to move the scissors away from your skin, you raised your pelvis so that Matt could slide your trousers down more easily.
"There hasn't been any disinfectant in any of them since last night," he explained with a small smile.
The scene was strangely intimate, Frank's hot breath spreading across the back of your neck as he cut off your shirt, and Matt's hands sliding your trousers down your thighs.
You couldn't help but let out a grunt as the fabric of your pant leg brushed against the wound on your thigh, though Matt was doing his best not to cause you any discomfort, whispering small apologies as he did so.
You then realised the context of all this, and the heat rose to your cheeks when Frank threw the last shred of your old T-shirt somewhere in the background: you were in your underwear in front of them.
For a moment, their fingers on your body felt much less professional. The passage of their digits over your skin left behind a trail of sparkling powder underneath.
Placing a towel under your thigh, Matt indicated to Frank the bottle of alcohol which he uncorked.
"This might sting a bit," Matt advised just before Frank started pouring the cool liquid over the wound on your arm.
You stifled a muffled gasp, your thighs trembling slightly from the heat of your wounds. Matt's face scrunched up, his hands resting on your thighs in the hope of easing your pain or distracting you from the excruciating sensation you were going through. As for Frank, he didn't seem to give a damn, his face filled with his constant annoyed neutrality.
You had wondered several times whether Frank hated you, or whether it was difficult for him to stand you. Whatever the case, he didn't seem to have you in his heart. Maybe it was mistrust, but whatever the reason, he seemed irascible towards you.
He continued to pour the contents of the bottle quite generously onto your side, your eyelids closing so tightly that you felt you were seeing stars. You gritted your teeth so hard that for a moment they cut off your hearing, then released the tension.
"It's almost done," Matt murmured in the hope of encouraging you.
Frank ended up cleaning your trembling thigh. You brought your hand, closed into a fist, up to your mouth, biting the skin of one of your fingers to channel the pain.
Your head jerked back, breathing heavily as tears welled up in the corners of your eyes. The worst had undoubtedly just passed.
You heard them rummaging around in the kit, and as you straightened your head, you saw them pulling out needle and thread.
"No pain killers," you managed to say as your mouth felt almost pasty.
Frank chuckled, preparing the needle properly.
"Gotta get this done first, no painkillers for your princess ass now."
You let out a half-sigh, half-laugh.
"Silly me to assume you'd care." you mumbled, already feeling the discomfort from the alcohol on your gaping skin soften.
"It' all be over soon," Matt asserted, his thumb running over the skin of your thigh.
"And I who was looking forward to living in agony for the rest of my life,' you breathed.
Frank brought one of the armchairs closer to the sofa, needle in hand.
"Gon try and be gentle, softy." he added, the little nickname making you scoff.
"No, Frank, being gentle isn't your area of excellence. You shine mainly in murder and mutilation."
He raised his eyes to yours, still red and wet from your previous pain and reflecting the famous 'gentleness' he had shown in his actions. He frowned, but this gesture was unexpectedly accompanied by a smile mixing surprise and amusement, stretching his face in a way you'd never seen from him before.
He brought the needle up to your thigh, grasping the skin with his large hand as firmly as gently. He pierced it, making you wince at the sensation.
"Just gonna pretend I didn't hear that," he finally said, his concentration seemingly unwavering.
But the simple idea of saying this when this same man was stitching you up at the moment only enchanted you for a short moment. He had a needle in his hand that he could very well stick anywhere but in the wound that needed to be closed. And although it was an immensely small needle, you were well aware that anything can become a deadly weapon if you have the will to use it.
So you said nothing, letting that little irritation fade away as you let yourself be stitched up. The pain was bearable in the end, nothing too horrible. It was better than going home and cauterising the whole thing with your straightening iron.
Now that the pain was more bearable, your attention eventually drifted to something other than that feeling, and more to the rest. The feel of their fingers on your body brought a whole new sensory experience, causing a warm cloud to settle in your belly.
Matt straightened up, your thigh already missing the presence of his hand on it. He sat down beside you, his fingers brushing your arm without injury.
"Your lip's cut," he remarked.
"It's not the worst thing on the menu," you laughed nervously, immediately regretting your gesture as your smile stretched your lip and reopened it again.
He fumbled for the kit, taking a cotton ball and grabbing the bottle to soak it in.
"Here," he said, his hand coming to take your chin tenderly and turning it towards him.
He pressed the wet cotton to your wound, and you hissed as your nose wrinkled in pain.
"It might sting a bit when you drink," he murmured.
The proximity gripped your heart, Matt's face close enough to yours that you felt his breath hit your skin gently and evenly. You tried to calm your racing heart in your chest, swallowing as you let him finish disinfecting your lip.
You took the opportunity to watch him more closely, to see the way his stubble ran gracefully across his jaw, the way his brown eyes watching the empty space were full of softness, the way his lips, which you were used to seeing outside the mask, were full and pink.
He seemed incredibly gentle, and if you didn't spend some nights a week in his company fighting crime, you'd never have bet he was fighting like the devil himself: unleashed, full of rage, the taste of revenge and the desire for a better balance blinding him beyond measure.
"You'll take our bed," Matt said, Frank just finishing stitching up your thigh.
You immediately frowned, your lips parting.
"Since I'm on the couch I might just stay on it," you laughed nervously as Frank moved to the wound on your waist.
His hand grabbed your hip and pulled you to the edge of the sofa, looking up at you:
"Sit straight and still," he says in a tone calm but firm enough to convince you that he wouldn't repeat that command twice.
You straighten up slightly, letting him come and stitch up the wound in your side.
"Of the three of us, you're clearly the one who needs comfort and rest the most, not us," Matt continued, placing the now useless cotton wool on the table.
"I can assure you that I've rarely been on a sofa as comfortable as this one," you added.
You'd invite yourself into their home unannounced, they'd take care of you, and on top of that they'd make you sleep in their bed while they slept elsewhere?
"Do we really have to drag you there?" asked Frank, tugging at the thread.
"And let me squirm and ruin all your previous efforts on my wounds?" you huffed as you looked into his eyes, a muscle near your eye twitching as Frank continued his work. "I'd ruin your sheets, that's really not necessary."
"Listen-" Matt started, but you stopped him.
"No," you assured him, turning to him, "and anyway I can already feel sleep stalking me."
Frank breathed in as he opened his lips to speak and contradict you again, but you stopped him.
"Really," you assured him, "I'll take the sofa."
Frank bit his cheek in irritation, obviously not so happy to know that someone in this town shared being so stubborn. He turned to Matt, who also didn't seem to be enjoying the situation any more than that.
"Alright, but there's no way I'm going to hear you complain as soon as you wake up, is that clear?" finished Frank as he tied the thread over the cut in your abdomen.
"Scout's honour," you sighed.
As Frank started your last cut, Matt got up and went to the kitchen to get a glass. He filled it with water, while you and Frank seemed to be engaged in a stare-down between two obstinate, stubborn people.
"Thanks Matty," you thanked sincerely, taking the two delicious items in your hand.
He seemed surprised by the nickname, a nervous chuckle forming a smile on his lips.
"I'll grab you some clothes," he replied as he left for their shared room and began the process of changing his costume.
You placed the tablet on your tongue, then brought the glass to your lips. As promised, it stung. A cloud of red diluted on the contact with your lips, and as you observed it you wondered how you would justify it to your boss.
You sighed, reminding yourself that you should email them first thing in the morning to let them know you were absent. All you had to do the next day was explain that you'd been attacked in the street for stealing your bag, but you'd managed to get away, and that in a state of shock you didn't feel like coming to work the next day. This would probably do.
Frank finished stitching you up fairly quickly, and when he cut the last thread he still looked at you with that annoyed look he never seemed to shake off.
"Thank you, Frankie" you thanked, using the nickname in a more playful tone than you had with Matt.
He let out a single sharp breath from his lungs before getting up and leaving in his turn for the bedroom, from which Matt emerged in much more... normal clothes.
It was the first time you'd seen him in civilian attire, in a simple hoodie and jogging bottoms. Your eyes went wide, your mouth half-open for a moment, and you had to blink several times to pull yourself together.
"Here," he said, placing the pile of clothes next to you on the sofa. "Do you think you can stand this time?"
Now that the adrenaline had worn off, and everything else didn't burn as much as if hell itself had invited itself under your skin, you tried to stand up. You wanted to avoid any sudden movements, but eventually, with a bit of effort, you managed to straighten up and start pushing on your legs to get up.
Your knees trembled slightly from the stress and everything else that had gone with it during the night, and just as you thought you'd be sprawled out on the floor in the next few seconds, tasting the parquet floor, Matt grabbed your arm and pulled you towards him.
"Hey, take it easy little fawn, we don't need you damaging your nose on top of everything else," he laughed as he steadied you, letting your legs wobble a little more before you felt comfortable enough to stand.
Your whole body hurt like hell. And no wonder: in addition to your various cuts from the evening, your body was dotted with clouds of bruises that would make all the blueberries jealous of their colour.
"Let me help you," he finally smiled gently as he picked up the T-shirt from the pile.
He helped you into the top, taking care not to let the fabric come into contact with your freshly stitched skin.
"I'll need to borrow one of your shirts tomorrow when I leave," you said with a small smile, "mine's had a bit of a problem."
Matt laughed softly as he poked his head into your top. " May it rest in pieces."
You laughed softly at his little joke, slipping the rest on and feeling his hands roam over your covered skin, the size of the t-shirt far too big for you and reaching the top of your thighs.
Matt lowered himself to his knees in front of you, and you looked down at him as he rolled up the sweatpants so he could slip them around your ankle, guiding your hand over his shoulder so you could find some support.
The vision was heady, taking hold of your heart like an intoxicating scent you want to chase down so you can bury your whole face in it and never leave. You wanted to run your fingers through his hair, to let them get lost in its meanders, to let your nails graze his skull before tugging lightly on it...
But you pulled yourself together, the thought once again creating a warm cloud in your lower belly as he straightened up and pulled the fabric up your legs, his fingers brushing your skin as if you were a statue forbidden to be touched.
"You're gonna have to see that with Frank though," he said as he tied the two laces around your waist, "it's his shirt."
That's how the same smell you'd first smelled when you were in his arms came back to mind, but you remained stoic, preventing yourself from grabbing the collar of the shirt and bringing it up to your nose.
"Challenge of the year," you sighed, smiling though, "thank you. For all of this."
"That's normal, it would be a shame if our partner found herself unable to exercise," he reassured you.
The word sent a shiver up your spine and into your cheeks.
"Red?" called Frank from the bedroom.
"Coming," he answered over his shoulder before turning away from you.
You sat back down on the sofa, tiredness beginning to weigh heavily on your eyelids. You lay down, the multiple events of the evening knocking you out more easily than any sleeping pill.
You had no trouble falling asleep, even with the neon lights on, even without a blanket, and even when the two of them came back into the room.
When you woke up, your back felt like it was sinking into a cloud. The surface you were lying on was soft, and when you turned on your side, your hand came to rest on a material that was not at all like the leather of the sofa: silk.
You propped yourself up gently on one elbow, observing the place you were in, and that's when you realised: they'd moved you into their bed while you were asleep.
"Bastards," you muttered, and bit your cheek to stop the little smile forming on your lips from breaking out.
A funny feeling sprang up in your heart, making it light and rosy. But that feeling quickly faded as you sat up straighter and your whole body ached. You felt like you'd just come out of a washing machine, all tossed and turned.
You stood up, trying to stretch but stopping immediately when the pain from your stitched-up cuts threatened to reopen. You didn't want to mess up their clothes, you'd probably never forgive yourself if that happened.
You came out of the bedroom and found Frank and Matt talking in the kitchen. Matt turned to you, sending you a smile.
"Good morning," he offered.
You were limping lightly, and bent slightly, walking slowly towards them through fatigue and pain.
"At last the groundhog graces us with her presence," Frank grumbled, turning to you.
"Am I rather not a sleeping beauty ?" you returned with a smile, "I wonder if sleeping beaty had a breakfast date when she woke up. I mean, look at me this is such a tempting offer," you said as your posture could easily have been a cross between an old lady and a pregnant woman, leaning on your hip, alternating between the curve of your back and the arch of it, making your whole body crack into a grimace of relief.
But surprisingly, they both smiled at your joke, and the awkward silence you might have expected or the abrupt change of subject to move on never came. But that didn't stop you from apologising on the spot.
"I'm sorry, I don't want my words to sound inappropriate, but I know that you two... well, you're..." together was the word you were looking for, but your fingers pinched the bridge of your nose.
Try again, you thought. You'll end up rowing champion if you keep paddling like that. But Matt immediately reassured you.
"There's nothing to worry about, and besides, on my side you have to be forgiving when you don't have the 'pause' button."
Right, you thought, even though the heat was rising to your cheeks and neck enough for your cool hand to come and rest on it, massaging it nervously.
"I find you singularly witty, Red," Frank said, arms folded across his chest.
Of course, there was nothing new under the sun about Frank. His sharp tone brought you back to solid ground in no time.
"How are the wounds?" he asked as he turned to you, his eyes lingering for a moment on the fact that you were wearing his shirt.
"Very well," you assured him as you lifted the sides of your shirt to show the one on your side and the one on your arm, turning back to him, "I think the blue really brings out my eyes, don't you?"
He smirked, and you couldn't quite work out whether it was genuine annoyance or amusement. It all seemed a bit too perfect, and that's when it hit you.
"Fuck!" you exclaimed, looking for where they'd put your trousers where your phone was.
"What is it?" asked Matt.
"My boss," you said, searching the hallway and finding your trousers there, "I didn't tell him-"
"We called him this morning," pointed out Frank.
You stopped in your tracks, turning back to them.
"You what ?" you questioned.
"We called him," Matt informed, "we told him that we were close to you and that after you were mugged last night in the street you decided to stay home for the day out of shock."
"You-"
"It's all sorted, you don't need to worry," Frank grunted, taking his drink in hand, surely in search for you to shut up and let him enjoy his morning cup of coffee.
You stood there like a houseplant in the middle of the living room, and Matt invited you to take a seat for breakfast. Bemused, you took a seat and the three of you ate and chatted for a while.
Matt mentioned taking you to see a guy he knew so that he could cover you up with something other than such a simplistic and obviously flimsy outfit that could put you in danger again.
And after breakfast, you left at the same time as Matt, who was leaving for work. You said your final goodbyes and went your separate ways.
Little did you know the proximity of last night would change many things.

WORLD CLASS SINNER - FRANK CASTLE
Tumblr media
three - haunted
tags: n/a // two // four // masterlist
Pairing: Billy x Reader , Frank x Reader
Word Count: 7,033
Summary: Can’t breathe, can’t turn back. Y/N continues to walk the fragile line of her morality while finding an uneasy comfort in the presence of Billy Russo, despite being haunted by Matt Murdock’s memory. But reuniting with Frank Castle makes it little less miserable.
You stayed with Frank at Lieberman’s hideout for the night. You thought you would maybe sleep better if you stayed somewhere outside of your bedroom. It had worked well enough at Quantico so maybe it was just about the scenery.
Only it didn’t make a difference. The emptiness had grown too big, grown too demanding. It would swallow you up a little more with every beat of your heart that continued to mimic the explosion. Even in sleep, you had no real escape from the memories.
You shot up from the space you were in, sitting on the bed against the wall and leaning against Frank. You glanced over and saw he was still asleep so as quietly as you could, you climbed out of the small bed and wandered towards the back door you had been coming in and out of.
You used the rickety ladder to climb up to the roof and you sat on the AC unit, taking in the view of the city. The crisp air felt like it would calm the heat within you, but it only made it tolerable. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath when you heard another body coming up the ladder.
You reached for your gun and saw it was only Frank with two beers in hand.
“Could’ve shot you.” You joked as he came and sat beside you, offering you one of the bottles.
“I would’ve let you.” He returned the joke and you smiled slightly. “What are you doing out here anyway?”
You used your knife to pop the cap off and passed the blade to Frank. You looked at the city for a minute longer while you thought about what you wanted to say. He tapped your leg with the handle of your knife and you snapped back to focus to take it.
“How long do the nightmares last?” You asked softly, holding the bottle by the neck and swirling it slightly. It almost felt wrong to admit that your mind was in shambles, but if anyone would understand without judgment, you were talking to him.
“What?”
“After the carousel… How long until you stopped dreaming about it?”
“Honestly?” He blew out a sigh and shook his head slightly. “I haven’t.”
“Oh.” You took a swig of the beer and nearly spit it out. “God, this is awful. And I thought Matt liked cheap beer.” You laughed and covered your mouth with the back of your hand.
Frank laughed with you before drinking the beer and having a similar reaction, coughing roughly and setting the bottle down with a sound of disgust. He turned over to you, still coming down from your laughter, and the expression he wore was one of worry.
“You wanna talk about it?” He said simply and you felt something sharp against the center of your chest, vaguely familiar to the tip of Elektra’s weapon from your dream. It made you rub the area with your knuckles.
“Did you hear about that imploded building a few months back? Midland circle?” You began, feeling the thump of your emotions at the center of your chest slowly replacing the sharp sensation. Beating in place of where your heart normally was, or maybe that was your heart and you just hadn’t felt it beat in so long. “Well, we were there. Us and a few other people. We were up against those ninjas. You remember the ones you helped a little against on that rooftop?”
He nodded, fully attentive to your words, so you continued.
“It turned out that my friend who died on that roof, they were able to bring her back with some magic ritual. I don’t even really know… But she wasn’t herself and she was gonna kill us. I decided to blow the building and literally crush their whole organization under it. We were hundreds of feet deep, somewhere around three hundred I think. No one was going to survive that. It wasn’t gonna be clean but it would be quick and it’d be final. But while we were down there, someone up top set the timer too early… When it came down to it, Matt decided to - of course - be a hero and stay down there to make sure no one got out… I tried to stop him but he decided to pull a cheap trick and distract me so I was literally dragged out of that building. And I got to watch it collapse from the outside…”
“Shit, Y/N. Why didn’t you call me or something?”
“Would you have answered?” You countered sadly. “Besides, I didn’t really wanna face anyone after that.”
You could almost feel the water from when you thought of drowning yourself climbing back up your throat.
“I lost myself that night, y’know? And it felt pathetic.” You gave a small laugh. “It felt like the thing that made me human was just gone. I didn’t care about anything or anyone, and to be honest, I still don’t really. And that’s not to say that everything was dependent on Matt but he made it easier. He made it worth it…”
“You seemed different today than yesterday.” Frank explained while you drank the shitty beer. “Like some of that was back, at least for a second.”
“Probably just from…” You trailed off, realizing that you were going to credit Billy for your alleged reignition.
“From…” Frank led and you sighed.
“I’ve been seeing a couple guys, casually, just to kinda keep my mind off it.” You waved him off but he shot you an incredulous look. “Okay, don’t look at me like that.”
“Guys?” He asked defensively. “How many are you seein’?”
“Two.” You shrugged.
“Jesus…” He shook his head. “Alright, who are they?”
“What? I need your blessing now?”
“No, but if some dickhead wants to try something, I should know whose head I gotta crack open.”
“Actually, you do know one of them.” You mumbled into the bottle and you’d rather swallow the poor excuse of a beer than say his name. “...billyrusso…”
“Wha-” He scoffed in disbelief. “Y’know what, I don’t even think I wanna know.”
“Okay….” You said innocently with a small shrug.
“Jesus Christ, Y/N.” He ran a hand down his face and you frowned slightly. “Are you sure you should be doing that?”
“It’s nothing serious with either of them.” You defended. “It’s just…. One’s charming and it’s comfortable. He says everything I need to hear. They respect me and give me space when I need it, call when they say they will. But..”
“But?”
“But I miss screaming at him and fighting with him.” You laughed in defeat with a small shrug. “Back when it was 2 am and I was cursing that damn costume.”
“The kinda love that makes you act all kinds of nuts.” Frank continued, his tone noticeably gentler than moments ago.
“Literally made me act insane. That’s the way I loved him... I never knew I could feel that much till I met Matt. It was really nice.”
“Yeah, you two were made for each other… I gotta say, Y/N, I just can’t see you with anyone else.”
“Yeah, and I’m not. They can’t see that I’m faking the smiles or that I’m not really feeling anything. Sure, it’s a little easier but it’s not like I’m falling in love again… I don’t know, maybe I keep ‘em around because they’re nothing like Matt. It can’t hurt or make me feel guilty if there’s no similarities…”
“Hey..” Frank said after a minute of silence. “I’m sorry about Murdock… I know it feels like shit.”
You set the bottle down and scooted back enough to give your feet room so you can hug your knees to your chest.
“I always thought I would die first cause I liked to think I was invincible… But the way I felt when I lost Matt, I felt absolutely helpless. I felt useless. I wanted to die, too… I even prayed to his God, trying to make a deal to swap our places. But every morning, I woke up in that goddamned bed from that same fucking nightmare.”
“Mine’s almost always the same.” Frank said absently, seemingly a hundred miles away now. “Maria wakes me up. It’s that morning before we went out after I got back… It’s real nice and sweet, y’know? And I’m not even out of bed before she gets shot. Lately though, it’s been… I’m the one pulling the trigger.”
“In mine, my friend puts a sai through my chest while Matt holds me down. They’re both dead by then. Like bloated corpses you find at the bottom of the river. They tell me that if I wanted to die with them, then I should… Once Matt killed me and he said ‘Why are you making me do this?’... I woke up hysterical that morning.”
“You two ever end up tying the knot?” He asked instead, veering the subject away from the dreams.
“No, but I did find this.” You reached under the collar of your shirt and under the neckline of the vest to pull out a silver chain. On it sat a silver band, engraved with his last name. You unclipped the chain and carefully passed it over. “Not exactly an engagement ring but…”
“Maybe it is.” Frank nodded as he inspected the ring. “Prolly figured you didn’t want something flashy so he got you something personal.”
“Yeah, makes sense.” You offered a small smile as he handed it back and you clipped it back into place, tucking the ring safely back under.
“Besides, can’t have two vigilantes in the same neighborhood with matching rings.”
“I only found the one… I don’t know if he had one for himself.”
“Bet he did.” He nodded. “Probably took it with him.”
“I couldn’t bury him or even have a service for him. Father Lantom couldn’t say anything about him or Foggy couldn’t give a eulogy.” You choked, and if you tried hard enough, you heard the explosion in your words. “To the world, Matt Murdock is out there somewhere. But to me, he’s buried under literal tons of debris.”
“C’mere.” He put an arm over your shoulders and pulled you into his side. You felt a shiver creep down your spine and your skin grew cold for a moment, the only sensation to diminish the burn in your bones. “I know it hurts like hell, and I know you wanna do anything but deal with it. But I can’t have you here if you’re looking for a distraction. That’s gonna get you killed and I can’t let that happen.”
“I’m okay.” You nodded, though the echoing rumbles in your chest told a different story. “I just don’t talk about it much so the little I do gets to me. I know what I’m doing, Frank. I promise.”
“If you say so.” He agreed reluctantly.
“I appreciate you looking out for me.”
“Someone has to.” He joked and you elbowed his ribs slightly.
It was clear, without your abilities, that he didn’t believe you. And truthfully, you didn’t even believe yourself. All you knew for a fact were the explosions and the emptiness, and both were relentless. All you could do was avoid them, feed them by necessity and try to continue living. You knew it wasn’t the life Matt would’ve wanted for you, a life as cold and desolate as you had created. He would’ve wanted you to move on, to love and live like you had done before. But without him, knowing that he was gone in such an absolute way, it diminished the quality of any potential life. You never considered the after, because there was never supposed to be such a thing.
Of course, you knew you’d both die eventually, but it was supposed to be you first. Or at the very least, you two going out together. Never did you think you’d be alone, living in a post-Matt world that only a handful of people could acknowledge. You worried, if only for a moment, about whether the girl that Matt knew - that he fell in love with - would ever return, but the idea of that and the idea of her was swallowed by the rift in your chest. Swallowed up by the darkness, only a faint echo remained. Her return would depend on your intent to bring her back. She would need your lifeline to get to her, but any rope you could extend would never reach.
You let her fall away, let her disappear into the darkest part of yourself. You weren’t that girl. You weren’t the vigilante he knew either. Instead, you were oh-so-reminiscent of the Widow you were raised to be. Blunt, heartless, cruel, calculating, plotting, cautious, confident. You were everything except apologetic or gentle. You were supposed to be the hero in the story you had written for yourself in the Kitchen, but from a perspective outside of your body, you watched yourself shift closer and closer to being the villain.
And - arguably - the worst part was that you liked it. So you let Y/N slip away, let her rest somewhere beneath the explosions and the burning. Somewhere beneath Midland.
“We’re seriously outgunned.” You commented after a little while of silence.
“Yeah, I was thinking the same thing..” Frank agreed.
“I might know a guy.” You two said at the same time.
Frank offered you a smirk before nodding for you to go first. You hopped off the AC and climbed down to the ground with Frank following close behind. You two headed down to your car and you drove over to the usual location your guy was at. He wasn’t anyone you had worked with or even one of your contacts. He was a guy that Matt had run into a few times and you had been keeping tabs on, just because the man always seemed to be involved in someone’s business.
He was just locking up when you two showed up, fully dawning your new vest for the first time.
“Hi, Turk.” You gave a tight smile as your accent tinted your words before you slammed your elbow against his jaw. “Let’s head inside.”
He groaned and struggled as you pinned an arm behind his back, tossing Frank the key ring. You pressed the man face-first against the opposing door while Frank opened the door. You shoved Turk inside, Frank following right after. You entered last and slammed the door shut behind you. You kicked the bulky plug at Turk for the light and squinted through the yellow glow until your eyes focused.
“Man! The hell is this?” Turk complained before you pushed him by his chest so he hit the metal wall again.
“You think because the Devil is gone, that you can start this shit again, hmm?” You spoke simply, the familiar accent sticking to your words like a tick. But without the mask, what good did it do? You realized why as the bitter taste settled in your mouth. At that point, you did it because it scared people and you liked that. “It’s about time we finally met, don’t you think?”
“Aw shit.” He exclaimed quietly before offering you a pleading expression. “Listen, I’m just a guy trying to make a living. You know how many jobs are out there for ex-cons? Ain’t jack shit coming my way.”
“Unless we ask you something, shut your mouth or I take out your teeth.” You warned sharply.
“You got part of a weapons shipment from the Greeks. Where is it?” Frank asked, yanking Turk off the wall and pressing his gun to the back of his head.
“Greeks dicked me.” Turk answered shakily. “Should’ve guessed, right, with a name like Turk? Maybe they didn’t know I was black.”
“Hilarious.” You rolled your eyes. “Where is it?”
“It was too much weight for me. They found someone else who could take the whole load. High-tech shit ain’t easy to sell, man.”
“Who is it?”
“I don’t know.”
Frank pressed the gun harder and the arms dealer whimpered. You almost felt bad... Almost.
“I mean- I-“ He stammered. “I got some stuff. It ain’t much.”
“Show me.”
Frank let Turk lead you two over to one of the corner cases. You leaned down to open it but Frank stuck his foot out to block you. He pushed Turk down to do it, who muttered complaints as he did.
“The hell is that?” Frank said as the bright pink gun stared back.
You almost laughed.
“It’s cute.” You teased, earning a glare from Frank. “Suits you.”
He offered you a sarcastic expression while Turk explained its origin and his policy on carrying ammo. However, the answers weren’t good enough for Frank so he pressed the gun forward again. While Turk tried to talk his way out of a headshot, you gripped your friend’s wrist and shot a stern look at him.
“No.” You mouthed and his brows furrowed. “We gain nothing.”
You watched his eyes dart between yours as he searched again for something. It made you a bit uneasy, to know there was some part of you that Frank could see no matter how you hid things away. No matter what was swallowed by the gap in your chest, Frank could find what should be there. You hated it but maybe you needed it.
Maybe Y/N needed it.
“… isn’t on me, swear to God.” Turk finished, kissing three fingers and raising them to the ceiling.
“God..” You laughed mockingly. “You believe in God, Turk?”
“Right now I want to.”
You and Frank maintained your stare down until he eventually broke with a muttered response. You turned to Turk and spiked his fear until he passed out. From there, you and Frank raided the shipping container and found nothing. Frank commented on the vest, saying he liked the shirt better and you flipped him off for it.
That shirt wasn’t yours. It belonged to Exodus, to the Devil’s partner. Not whoever you were.
Back at the hideaway, Frank and Lieberman argued about the quality of the intel and the lack of real information from the NYPD.
“Find that shipment.” You pointed a stern finger at Lieberman. “You don’t or can’t and I’ve got a borrowed handgun that I’ll kill you with myself. Понимаешь?” (Understand?)
Frank looked over at you and you gave a small wave of goodbye. You headed back to your car, a hand slipping under the collar to fiddle with the ring before you drove back to your cold apartment. You saw your phone had a couple messages, both Billy and Dex hinting at a night out, but you continued to ignore them.
You knew you wouldn’t be any fun.
The next day, you had a message from Billy. He was asking to come into Anvil, said there was a bigger group of recruits coming in and he needed your help. With no other plans, you went. You went without your vest or protection, only a badge at your hip and a gun at your back. You hadn’t thought about getting a number for Frank or Lieberman, but you figured they’d reach out if they needed you. Or Frank would go through Karen to get to you. Either way, you couldn’t sit there and twiddle your thumbs until Lieberman could make good on his intel on the Greeks.
You walked into Anvil’s headquarters and were greeted with enthusiastic smiles or waves. You offered kind enough responses as you headed down the familiar halls to find Billy in the main room with a group bigger than you anticipated. You blew out a small sigh to release some of the growing tension and pulled your hair up before entering the room.
Small murmurs ran through the crowd upon your entrance but you ignored them. You took your usual place, a few feet behind the small runway Billy liked to pace during his introductory speech and in front of the other instructors. Your eyes scanned the crowd for anything that stuck out. Some hesitant body language, uncertain hands, shifty feet. Untrusting eyes, some darting away when they met yours and others offered a challenge. Some interest in your presence, most enthralled in Billy’s words. But a face, a younger boy from Curtis’ group, seemed to actively be avoiding eye contact as Billy began weaving through the crowd. He knew you were there, knew you’d recognize him. Something about that scared him, and that had your interest.
“Here at Anvil, if you are recruited…” He announced, finally catching sight of your appearance. “And that lies in the hands of our Talent Assessment and Training Specialist.” He held a hand out to you with a small smirk and you nodded in response.
You heard small comments about the badge at your hip but when you turned your head towards the source, eyes dropped and they sidestepped to be behind the person in front of them. You laughed to yourself and shook your head in disappointment.
“If you are recruited-” You spoke simply, your head held high as the eyes of the crowd all lifted towards you. “-you will have the chance to find the something that you’ve been missing.”
“A new brotherhood to call your own, something to fight for.” Billy continued. “To live for, even.”
“It won’t be easy.” You added. “I expect you all to push yourselves and each other. Try to impress me.”
“Good luck, everyone… You’ll need it.” Billy nodded and motioned for you to follow him to the side.
He gave you the rundown of the day, what stations would be running, and what general plans he had. You nodded absently, knowing it would more or less be the same plan as usual. But when he noticed you weren’t fully listening, the conversation shifted.
“What’d you see?” He asked instead.
“Hmm?” Your brows raised.
“With the group.” He smiled slightly. “Something stood out, didn’t it?”
“Most of them won’t respect me.” You said simply. “They were muttering comments since I walked in, won’t look me in the eyes.”
His head tilted back and forth as if in thought. “So make ‘em respect you. It’s never been a problem for you before.” He shrugged slightly. “Just maybe don’t break anything.”
“Yeah, no promises.” You shrugged in return and his smile earned one from you. You cursed yourself for it. “There was one kid that I recognized.”
“Good way?”
You pulled a face and reached for his arm to turn him towards the group that was getting broken down by one of the other staff members. You gave a small point towards the boy whose name you never could remember.
“I’d talk to Curtis about that one.” You answered. “He goes to group.”
“That worry you?”
“Get Curtis’ opinion first. Then we can talk about it.”
“I hate when you do that!” He complained though you were already heading towards the group.
You were working through the fitness trials with one of the other instructors when one of the men said something that scraped a nerve. You had been pointing things out for him to make note of - when they hit failure and what weights they were working with - when the snide comment seemed to snap something in you.
“She’s only here cause she’s hot.” He said to one of the men beside him and both chuckled before high-fiving each other.
“Hey!” You called out before a sharp whistle. “Wanna say that to my face?”
“C’mon.” He scoffed, hands out to the side. “We’re all thinkin’ it... You’re a total babe and it’s the only reason you’re the one who makes the calls. Might as well own it.”
“You sure know how to talk in front of all your friends.” You laughed, though there was no humor in the sound. “I bet, in your little head, you’re a big tough man, right?”
He opened his mouth to speak with a grin, shoulders lifting in a shrug.
“But in reality, I could put you on your ass without trying.” You cut in and the other recruits around offered a sound effect to punctuate the comment. “Put you right in your place.”
The instructor beside you stepped away while radiating a mild panic. The sensation brought a smirk to your lips as you uncliped your badge and pulled your gun. You handed them to the man beside you, who rushed a quiet attempt to get you to change your mind, but you were already moving forward. You gestured for the recruit to come closer and he did so with a proud smile.
“Look, I don’t wanna hurt you.” He said with a smug grin as the crowd began to tighten. “I served for a long time.”
“I wouldn’t stress about it.” You shrugged. “But it is ironic. You say all this shit in public but you want so bad to fuck me.”
“What?” His eyes went wide.
“The way you’ve been looking at me, the comments you make. All that noise when truthfully, you’re just a shitty guy with a fragile ego.”
The man chuckled and nodded as if to show a hesitant agreement but it was easy for you to tell that he was looking forward to the opportunity. You rolled your eyes as he exaggerated a routine of popping his knuckles and neck before gesturing for you to take the first hit.
You simply folded your hands behind your back.
With a small sneer, he made the first move. He threw a hard cross that you sidestepped, his momentum causing him to stumble forward. You dropped to kneel and used your shoulder to knock his knee from under him and the man fell to his back with a heavy thud. You scooted forward and placed a knee on his throat, though you were careful to keep your weight in the foot you had against the ground. You felt his hands on your leg to push you off so you moved first and rolled off, pushing yourself to your feet before repositioning your hands behind you.
The crowd molded and adjusted to where your little spat was going, widening and sliding as you two moved. You took a second to glance over to where Billy would sometimes watch from and saw he was distracted by a conversation with another instructor across the room. Before you could turn back, you felt a tight grip on your upper arm and were yanked back.
Your feet stumbled slightly but you gave no indication that it would benefit him. Instead, you calmly got your feet under you as you felt the arm creep around your neck. As the crowd engulfed you again, you shifted your arms to have your elbows sticking out. You jerked to the side roughly and your elbow slammed into the soft spot on the man’s side. You jabbed him again and again until his grip on you slipped. You stepped forward to give yourself room to land a firm kick to the center of his chest. He fell to his back with another loud smack and he coughed roughly with a hand against his chest as he scooted away from you.
He swung his feet desperately to knock you down and admittedly, it worked. His foot caught your ankle and knocked it in front of the foot you were stepping with so you fell forward, barely able to get your hands in front to stop you from crashing to your face. You had to throw an arm up quickly as his heel came towards your face. He kicked out again and again, your own forearm thumping against your head.
By then, you heard Billy’s voice echoing through the room.
The sound made him hesitant so you took advantage. You pushed yourself up enough and got to a kneel before you grabbed his extended ankle. He shot you a panicked look before you twisted him around so he laid on his face, his leg bent at an uncomfortable angle. Your foot pressed at the base of his hip and you felt the tension as his muscles tried to keep his leg in its socket. You twisted slightly and looked down to see the unnatural angle his knee was twisted at. He reached backward and you used the other foot to slam onto his wrist, earning a sharp cry of pain.
“Go ahead.” You taunted, having to consciously keep your accent out of your words. “Tell me again why I’m here.”
“This isn’t what I meant.” Billy said, a hand suddenly around your arm. “Let him go.”
“Don’t you wanna know what he said to me?” You challenged sharply, giving another tug on the leg that earned a scream. “Or better yet, what he wants to do to me.”
“C’mon, Y/N/N.”
The man whimpered out a pathetic apology and pleaded for you not to hurt him. Only when he was legitimately scared and powerless did you let go.
“Hmm.” You hummed and dropped the man’s leg. You stepped over him and let Billy guide you away from the crowd. You turned over your shoulder and saw a few men helping him to his feet. “I don’t like him.”
“Consider him gone.” Billy nodded, his hand changing to sit on your lower back. “Let’s talk about it, alright?”
Once you two got to his office, he pulled your badge and gun from under his jacket. He handed them over to you and you quickly put them back into place.
“I’m so sick and fucking tired of being treated like this.” You complained, pacing the office space. “If I was a man, I’d be a fearless leader, an alpha type and I wouldn’t have them coming after me again and again and again. Every - fucking - where I go some guy who’s all bark, no bite has some stupid about me or my career.”
“You can’t just go after the ones you don’t like.” Billy reasoned and you turned on him quickly with a burning glare.
“You do realize why they think they can talk to me like that, right?” You said simply, despite the anger burning at the center of your throat begging to be released as a yell. “You could go out there and brag about bedding a new model every night, show off all the money in the world, and literally anything else you want.”
“It’s not about me, Y/N. Any ideas they have of you are their own. You know I wouldn’t-“
“Oh but if I did it-“ You cut in and your voice began to rise. “If I was the one flashing my money, I’d be a bitch. They say that you hustled and put in the work, but it’s all about what I’m wearing and if I was rude or not.” You continued angrily, that burning heat clawing through your muscles to the point that your hands started to tremble.
“I’m not saying those guys weren’t wrong, alright?” His hands raised in concession while you crossed your arms. “But-“
“What’s it like when no one second guesses your worth?”
“C’mon, don’t be like that.”
“No, seriously.” You laughed in frustration. “They’re painting me out to be the bad guy, so it’s okay that I’m pissef off right now! Don’t try to downplay this, Billy!”
“I’m not, okay?” He carefully came around the desk and put his hands on your shoulders. “They were out of line. They’re done, alright? But what happened out there, that’s not about respect. That’s just fear.”
“Hmm.” You lifted your head slightly, a challenge glistening in your eyes. “Maybe I'd rather be feared.”
“Y/N..” He sighed.
“Are you afraid of me?” You asked, genuinely curious. While as of late, you enjoyed being feared, some fragile little part of you hoped he wasn’t.
“No.” He offered a small smile.
Suddenly, you thought of the way Foggy flinched away from you. How Karen looked at you as if you were something out of a Stephen King novel.
“Maybe you should be.”
“Where is this coming from?”
You shrugged slightly. “I should go.”
“You’re gonna be like that with me, too?”
“It’s like you aren’t even listening.” You said simply, backing towards the door. “You don’t try to argue with me. You just give me what I ask for. It’s all kinda new to me.”
“And you don’t like it?”
You paused, thinking about it for a moment. It was all new with Billy, to notice him sneaking through hard-standing walls. Only to kick him out as soon as you realize, just for him to find a new way in. He was relentless in that way, a subtle pursuit that was unexpectedly understanding. Letting him in meant letting go of Matt to make room for him, and you couldn’t do that. Not then, maybe not ever.
Despite the pain in memories of Matt, he was the tether to your humanity. To Y/N, to the woman you were meant to be. You knew if you lost that, you’d be no better than a nameless Widow. A faceless assassin that killed anyone in her way. A weapon, with no heart or soul or remorse. You may not care to be that person without him, but that didn’t mean you wanted her completely gone. Just a background voice in your head, a small tick on the scales of your morality that kept you from becoming someone you wouldn’t recognize.
“I don’t know.”
You were turning to leave when Curtis walked in.
“Hey.” He said with a smile that quickly faded. “Everything okay?”
“Yeah, just gotta take off.” You answered easily.
“Well, hang on.” Billy cut in. “Now that we’re all here, let’s talk about the kid you’re worried about.”
“I really should go.” You shot Billy a glare.
“You’re worried about Lewis too?” Curtis asked you and you cursed quietly.
“Yeah, I told Billy to get your opinion.” You confessed. “It just doesn’t feel like a good fit for him here but you know him better than I do.”
“He’s living in a foxhole in his yard, Billy.” Curtis explained, moving deeper into the room to stand by Billy and leaving the doorway open. You had half a mind to leave but also wanted to ensure the kid didn’t make the cut. So instead, you stood on Billy’s other side. “And he almost put a bullet in his father.”
“Hell, who hasn’t wanted to do that?” Billy joked and you elbowed him in the ribs. “Maybe he just needs to get back into it. Kid wants to live in a tent, I can give that to him.”
“You won’t be doing him or yourself any favors if you put him in combat situations.” Curtis continued. “If I was out there, I wouldn’t want that kid watching my six.”
“I wouldn’t either... I’d rather go at it alone.” You shrugged.
“A team’s only as good as its weakest link.”
“You two think this one’ll snap?” Billy asked, looking between you two.
“Yeah.” You answered, watching Lewis through the office windows. Even from there, you could feel the unstable waves of his emotions. Crashing and rising, falling and shaking. “Just a matter of time.”
“So what happens when I cut him loose?” He turned to Curtis.
“You do your part, I’ll do mine.”
“Why ask for a consult if you weren’t gonna listen to us?” You challenged gently. “It’s just not worth it. Besides, let’s say you don’t listen to us and take him anyways. If something goes wrong, it’s your reputation that goes down.”
“Alright.” He nodded. “You’re coming with me.”
“No, I should g-“
“Let’s go, Pretty Lady.” He wrapped an arm around your shoulders and led you out, despite your grumbled complaints.
“Wilson!” You called out when you two got to the ground and Billy’s arm fell away. “Can we talk to you?”
“Of course.” He hurried over and you took a few more steps to the side.
“Lewis, right?” You began and he nodded. “Do you remember me? I go to group with Curtis sometimes.”
“Yes, ma’am.” He nodded.
“You can just call me Y/N.” You smiled politely.
“What’s with the foxhole in your backyard, Lewis?” Billy asked plainly and you shot him a look.
“Uh..” He glanced around nervously. “What do you mean?”
“Well, I gotta know what’s going on with all my guys. Lives depend on it, you know?”
“It was a… a project.” Lewis answered hesitantly. “Something to keep me busy.”
“Please don’t lie to us.” You said plainly, though enough edge to show you were serious. “It’s not that simple, is it?”
His eyes fell to the floor, almost in shame.
“And what do you figure the other guys would think?” Billy continued. “If I told them the guy watching their backs was living like that?”
“It’s nothing, sir. I’m fine.” He insisted.
“No, you’re not.” You cut in. “And that’s okay.”
Saying that nearly made you gag when you heard it. That was the same stupid line other people used on you and you never believed it either.
“Listen, this business… It’s all based on trust. I take her into the field-“ He gestured to you. “-I know she’s gonna have my back, right? Nothing to worry about. And those guys need that same feeling.”
“Please don’t do this.”
“I’m sorry, man. I can’t take that risk.”
He nodded slightly, using the end of his sleeve to wipe the growing tears. You frowned slightly and almost found yourself wanting to comfort him. Instead, you folded your hands behind your back.
“Was this..” He looked at you. “Was this Curtis?”
“We check in on all prospects.” You answered honestly. “He had a conversation with me too about what he found before I got the job.”
“For just this kinda thing.” Billy added. “ It’s got nothing to do with Curtis.”
“Are you saying it wasn’t him?”
“I suggest you watch the tone, Wilson.” You warned and Billy’s hand tapped the back of your shoulder. A quiet way of telling you it was alright.
“I’m saying that it doesn’t matter.” Billy answered smoothly.
“I don’t believe you. He told me not to come here and then he spikes me. He’s a goddamn snake.”
“Hey, hey, hey. Easy.” Billy cut in and your hands balled into fists. “I don’t know you, kid. Now, Curtis Hoyle, he saved my ass on more than one occasion. One of the best men I ever had the fortune of serving with.”
“What about her?” He gestured to you. “She goes to that group, same as me.”
“It isn’t about who goes to group.” You shook your head.
“She was working for me before she started going. Besides, that’s not what it’s about, nor is it your business who I employ.” Billy added, and you had to admit, something was comforting about him defending you.
Stop that.
“If you need work, Lewis, we can find a place for you around here.” You offered, hoping to talk around the man’s rising temper.
“You’re gonna give me a job mopping floors?” He spat sharply, clearly too angry to listen. “Emptying trash? Is that ‘making good on the investment my country made in me’?” He threw Billy’s words back at him and Billy didn’t have an answer.
“You’re just another liar in command.” Lewis continued.
“Okay.” You said firmly. “We’re done here. You need to leave. Of your own accord or I can personally escort you out. Up to you.”
Lewis released a shaky breath before stepping forward and lifting his chin in challenge. Your arms unwrapped themselves and sat at your sides, fingers twitching with the promise of another fight. You noticed the shift in Billy’s body language as well, but his hand moved over slightly in front of you to keep you in place.
“Now.” Billy added firmly.
He looked between the two of you in contemplation and you rolled your eyes to yourself. You focused in and found his anger, his willingness to fight. You pushed it away from you two and raised the hesitation of standing against you two. You added in on the fear of what you two were capable of and he backed off.
He ranted on his way out, trash-talking the brotherhood Billy talked about, and even spat on the floor. You wanted to react but knew there were too many eyes on you. Instead, you decided to blow off steam with whatever Frank was up to. You told Billy you just needed to calm down and you’d call him later. He offered you a nice dinner but sitting in a restaurant in a fancy dress wasn’t exactly going to help.
Instead, you went home and got out of your work clothes. You switched to a long-sleeved compression top, which happened to be black with red seams. You grumbled slightly about how even in death the Devil haunted you. You stood in front of the closed doors that hid the remains of your suit. The rumbles in your chest banged loudly, slamming against your ribs with enough force to rock through your bones. You took a deep breath and yanked the doors open, ignoring the echoing in your chest.
You ignored Matt’s chest and went right to your collection of equipment. You found your original mask, with the stained red cracked lens, along with its’ replacement that was caked with the blood of Hand members. Looking at the second mask also held the memory of Elektra’s first death, Matt’s miraculous save when you were thrown from the hospital window, fighting Kitchen Irish beside Matt and Frank. You wanted to snap it in half.
Instead, you shoved your original into your waistband and adjusted your shirt to hide it fully. You tucked a knife into the top of each boot and stuck a gun at your back. Your wrists felt bare without your Bites, but you couldn’t find it in yourself to want to find them. So off you went, tugging down the seams of your sleeves in an attempt to hide the exposed joint, and went off to the hole in the wall Frank was currently camping at.

Soft country music from before country music as a genre went modern and became what it is today plays from the radio Frank insists on keeping on while he cooks dinner. His flannel is tight around his chest and the sleeves are rolled up as he brings a spoon to his mouth, tasting the sauce he’s been preparing for the past few hours. He adds more pepper.
The door opens from across the apartment, and all he hears is, “Frank! Tell Matt to stop being mean to me!” You and Matt make your way through the apartment after taking off your shoes and coats, Matt loosening his tie as he follows you into the kitchen. Frank turns when you step into the kitchen, immediately moving over to him and finding your place in the crook of his arm.
“Red bein’ mean to you, honey?” Frank asks as he kisses the top of your head, grinning at Matt as he huffs, standing with his hands on his hips.
“Yeah, it doesn’t matter if it’s handsome if he’s so mean, does it?” You ask.
“No, it doesn’t,” He grins, and you stick your tongue out to Matt playfully, and he mimics you before going over to Frank and pressing a soft kiss to his lips.
“Hi.” The lawyer hums, happy to be back home with his two favorite people.
“Hi.” Frank grins, unsure of how serious you are about Matt being mean to him. “What’s going on, why are you being mean?” Matt raises an eyebrow at you, unhappy with your running to Frank.
“Can’t just run to daddy to fix your problems, pup.” He accuses, and you scoff. His words are playful, but your face is red at the call out.
“You know what, Murdock—”
“Hey! Will someone please tell me what’s going on?” Frank cuts in, and Matt tilts his head in your direction, and you quietly plead for Matt not to tell on you, and--
“They bit me.” Frank sighs at his words.
“I was being affectionate!” You immediately go into defense mode, ducking out of Frank’s arm, trying to casually walk off from the pair towards the fridge, only for Matt to grab your arm, pulling you between the two men, your back against Frank’s chest, face to face with Matt.
“You cannot bite people, pup.” Matt says, and you frown.
“I like biting people—”
“That’s a problem!” Frank’s words attempt to be serious, but they’re coated by a soft laugh as his hands, rough from a long day of working blue collar, rub up and down your arms.
“See? You’re getting Frank to agree with me, do you know how hard that is to do?” Matt hums, and you tilt your head.
“What? You love Frank, it’s actually kind of gross—”
“It is gross isn’t it?” Matt asks teasingly, leaning up to kiss Frank again. You roll your eyes at the fact that you’re being reprimanded by your boyfriends, sandwiched between them, forced to deal with the consequences of your actions. “But I’m being serious, okay?”
“Matty,” Your head leans back against Frank’s chest, “I don’t bite anyone who isn’t you or Frank..”
Alright, let’s level with each other—Frank and Matt are well aware of the fact that you’re neurodivergent. You get overstimulated with loud, crowded situations very easily, you struggle to understand jokes a lot, and you once told them that in middle school, you became so hyper fixated on waffles to the point where you ate them for breakfast and lunch most days, practically begging your mom to let you have it for dinner most nights (She let you have them once a month) and then, after fourteenth months, you stopped. You have not been able to eat a waffle since.
The point is the two men you’re sandwiched between are no strangers to your neurodivergence. They know it’s stimulating in the best way to chew or suck on something, your oral fixation coming back with a vengeance after you tried to repress it for so long. You chew on everything. You chew on the strands of your hoodies, you chew on your sleeves, you chew on ice, gum, you chew on your boyfriends, and you chew on your cheeks to the point where you draw blood, which always gets Matt to scold you, because he can smell the coppery blood from his place across the room, and immediately tells Frank.
Matt Murdock is a little tattletale.
“We’ll figure it out, okay?” Frank hums, resting his chin on your shoulder. “We’ll get you something to chew on—”
“What, like a chew toy? That’s embarrassing,” you groan, and Matt just laughs a bit, leaning in to oppress a kiss to the shoulder that Frank is not leaning on.
“Then stop biting, pup.”
You pause, contemplating the options you have. Fix your biting issue or have Matt and Frank fix it for you. Honestly, you don’t think you have the neurotypical willpower to fix this problem, so you go,
“Okay, fine. You guys have my permission to do what you want to fix it.” You huff. Frank presses a kiss to your cheek while Matt presses a kiss to the other. You feel the smirks against your skin, and you realize what’s happening before you can run, “Wait, no, I swear to god—” Matt picks up your legs with ease as Frank secures his arms around your torso, the pair beginning to carry you to the couch. You groan as they throw you onto the leather couch, landing with a huff. “You’re both awful.”
Matt leans down and bites your shoulder.
“Doesn’t feel good, does it?”
“Jokes on you, Daredevil, I’m into that—” You feel Frank sink his teeth into your arm.
“Wrong answer.” Matt responds for him.
//
Later that night, after dinner, you’re laying against Matt, your legs resting in Frank’s lap. You’re listening to music, and the environment is very relaxed, none of you are particularly on edge. Matt’s fingers are resting in your mouth. You relax like this a lot, just sucking his fingers gently. You’re absentmindedly just sucking on his fingers when you bite down on them—It’s not an accident, and Matt would call you out on it if you lied.
So when you bite down, not entirely consciously, he huffs, “With the biting, baby, come on,” he softly condemns, and remembering your deal, Frank gets up with a sigh, patting your leg before he got up and headed to the kitchen. You’re confused for a second before Matt’s nose twitches with recognition, so he grabs your shoulder and pulls you close, his hand finding your cheeks and squeezing your mouth so that it’s in an ‘o’ shape.
Frank approaches you with a spoon and a jar of peanut butter, and your eyebrows are furrowed in confusion, and the rest of your features are squished by Matt’s hands. Frank scoops a big wad of peanut butter onto the spoon before sticking it in your mouth. You’re confused, as Matt’s hand leaves your face, as you begin munching on the peanut butter.
You take a while to eat the peanut butter, quietly enjoying the taste while enjoying how long you’re keeping yourself busy, since it’s taking a long time to work down the peanut butter due to how sticky it is in the roof of your mouth. When you’re done licking and enjoying the taste of the peanut butter, you look to Frank.
“What was that for?”
“Well, it kept you busy from biting, didn’t it?” He grinned. Your face is flushed as you hand him the spoon.
“Can I have some more?”
Frank chuckles and kisses you quick.
“Sure, honey.”
//
A few nights later, Frank sits on the couch of the apartment, the windows open wide as he listens to the howling wind outside. He’s waiting. Waiting for what, he doesn’t know. His skin is still hot, trying to relax after waking up from a nightmare. It’s always the same. Maria and his children, always dying in his arms. Always sitting at the kitchen table, always with you and Matt, always dead.
The chill that comes in from the window is enough to make him feel alive through as he quietly waits for Matt to get back. He’s in an old tee shirt and sweatpants, flicking his lighter on and off in the quiet as he tries to focus on something that isn’t the idea of the pair of you dead, dead like his wife, dead like his kids, dead dead dead—
“Frank? What are you doing up?” Matt’s soft voice echoes through the apartment, and his head tilts softly. He goes over to the couch, still in his full Daredevil suit. Frank stands up and goes over to him by the window, pulling off his cowl just to look at his face. His hand lands gently on Matt’s face, his thumb rubbing gently on the scars that surround Matt’s eyes.
“Couldn’t sleep.” Matt catches the lie and does not call him out.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” Frank’s jaw hardens, and even though Matt cannot see, he avoids his gaze. And in a moment of pure vulnerability, he wraps his arms around Matt, holding him close. Matt’s hand gently runs up and down his spine, trying to comfort him. After a few moments of quiet, he asks, “Do you want me to wake them up?” You were always better at making people feel better than Matt was—Especially Frank.
“Nah.. No point..” He says quietly. After a few more minutes of quiet, he feels another pair of arms wrap around him from behind, your chest against his back. You press soft kisses onto the back of his shoulders.
“Too late.” Matt hums. You’re wearing an old tee shirt of Frank’s, a pair of boxers you bought for yourself and a pair of Matt’s fuzzy socks. You stay there for a little while, sleepily hugging Frank, comforting him. Your eyes grow heavy, and slowly, you fall asleep against him, just for a moment. Then, Frank picks you up, and you wake up again, tired.
“What? What’s going on?” You ask him, and he just smiles down to you.
“We’re gonna go to bed while Red showers, and he’ll be right back.” He tells you, gently placing you on the bed. You yawn as Frank crawls into bed, and you find yourself on top of him, your legs tangled with his. You listen to Matt shower and fall asleep waiting for him to come join you.
He comes back out with his hair wet, in just his sweatpants. He tucks himself into bed, his arms around Frank, as you sprawl out on top of them, desperately needing to be close to both. Frank is nowhere near tired. Matt knows that, and just gently kisses his hair and the back of his neck.
“You need sleep.”
“You ain’t the boss of me, red.” He grumbles, and you hush them harshly, causing them to both laugh a little bit. Matt slowly falls asleep, trying to stay awake to comfort Frank, but he’s spent his entire night beating the shit out of goons and criminals, so he’s absolutely spent. Frank tilts his head and presses another kiss to his lips. “Go to bed, I’ll be okay.” Matt wants to protest but he just buries his face in the crook of his neck.
Frank’s hands gently trail your torso a bit. His hands are rough and sort of cold, but they just explore your back as he attempts to find sleep. It’s a fruitless venture, but he doesn’t mind. He’s okay with just listening to the pair of you breathing.
//
“Are you two wearing my flannels?” Frank has about seven flannels, and he has four in the wash and one that has a tear waiting to be fixed, so he’s looking for his spare two when he finds you painting Matt’s nails on the floor of the apartment. You’re painting Matt’s nails a nice shade of dark red, with little hearts in a lighter pink.
That had taken a lot of convincing, really, but once you had agreed not to bite him all day, he reluctantly agrees to let you paint his nails, desperately wanting to be good at something and be focused on one thing for more than twenty minutes.
Periodically, Matt’s foot will tap against your back, reminding you to adjust your posture as you work on your masterpiece. He just got done with a big court case, so he tells you he’ll maintain your artwork for at least a few days. But yeah, you two are most definitely wearing Frank’s last two flannels.
“They’re comfy,” You defend, focusing on your work. Matt’s foot taps against your tailbone to remind you to straighten your back.
Really, Frank doesn’t mind. But he enjoys fucking with the two of you, so he just smirks and sits behind the pair of you. ‘
“But they’re my clothes—”
“Well, you should have thought about that before you left them out, Frank.” Matt smirks, knowing exactly what he’s up to.
“Besides, look how good Matt looks in your clothes!” You hum, leaning over to nudge him gently, a grin on your face. You finish up Matt’s nails, capping up the nail polish as Matt begins gently blowing in his nails to get them to dry faster. Then, you wipe your nose, thinking it’s running, and when you pull away, you see a swipe of blood on Frank’s warm flannel. Oh, fuck.
With his slightly wet nails, Matt’s movements are not nearly as quick as he would have liked as he smells the blood before the gushing really starts, ripping off a paper towel and quickly holding it under your nose, and you take it from him to hold it there as he stands up, going to get something softer like a tissue or toilet paper to pack your nose—
You hold the paper towel to your nose, and guilt already starts to eat at you, as hot tears fill your eyes and then you feel silly because you think Frank might think you’re overreacting, but you just find his hands on your shoulders as he says,
“Hey, hey, why are we crying?” And you feel even sillier.
“I ruined your flannel.”
Frank had been covered in blood more times than he could count, as has Matt—their bodies are riddled with scars, head to toe, bullet and stab wounds echoing over the rough skin of both men, mostly faded now, but Frank is no stranger to blood—It doesn’t even bother him anymore, and Matt can’t see anyways, so what does he care about the sight of blood?
But you, who cannot kill the bugs that find their ways into your apartment, who gasps and covers their mouth when you accidentally curse in church (Matt always laughs, the dick), who orders the same lunch every day and has been unable to drink anything that wasn’t ice water, are horrified at a swipe of blood on a stolen flannel.
“Oh, no, honey, you didn’t ruin anything,” He shakes his head, and gently tugs at the flannel that hangs on your arms, “Come on, let me get this off,” The Punisher’s voice is gentle, a type of gentle reserved just for you, one that the countless skeletons in his closet, all with a bullet in their skulls, do not know and could not possibly perceive. You allow him to slip the flannel off, as Matt comes back with a rolled-up tissue, before sitting in front of you, kneeling as if he’s at mass—
“Lean your head forward for me,” he asks, his hand on the side of your head, and you do, taking the paper towel away, just for Matt to gently push that bundled up piece of tissue into your nose, to get it to stop bleeding.
Your boys, they are experts at getting things to stop bleeding.
At least Matt’s nails look really nice.
Frank throws the flannel in the wash, along with the rest of your laundry, and you find yourself sandwiched between them, the perfect amount of squeezing happening on either side of you, the same affect a weighted blanket would have on you. Your hot tears roll still, quietly betraying you, as the pads of Frank’s rough fingers come up to wipe them away, and Matt’s thumb finds it’s place sitting between your lips.
You sit like this for a while—Frank pressed up against you, Matt in his flannel and you, gushing blood from your nose, packed tight with tissues, and Matt’s thumb as your favorite stim toy.
//
A few days later, you’re just decompressing from work—Your bones ache, and you’re waiting for Matt to get home, wanting to satisfy that oral fixation, as if it’s the worst craving you’ve ever had. Sensing your restlessness, Frank puts a small package in front of you. You raise your eyebrow, and look at him, skeptical.
“Is it a bomb?” He scoffs and chuckles a bit.
“Open the damn package.” His voice is laced with the smirk that sits on his face, not mad, not upset, not at all judging. Your fingers peel back the packaging, and when you’re done unwrapping, you’re left with a soft necklace, and a blue, rubber moon. You look to him curiously. “It’s uh,” he leans down so his forearms are keeping him up against the counter. “You chew on it. You’re not gonna stop bitin’ or sucking on stuff, so, you might as well bite something that isn’t human.” He tells you.
In truth, Frank had spent all damn day scrolling on your laptop, looking for the perfect fix to your problem, and grew frustrated when he realized that all the stim toys were marketed towards young boys who had the privilege of getting a diagnosis young (living with and loving two people with disabilities, as well as having horrible PTSD, has radicalized Frank Castle).
You grin when you hear his explanation, getting up and going to him, resting your hands on his shoulders before leaning up and kissing him softly.
“I love you.”
“I love you, too, Honey.”
From across the apartment, you hear the door open, and a voice calls out,
“Are you guys cheating on me? You know I can hear you across the apartment, right?” Matt’s voice calls out, and you laugh, as Frank just smiles.
“Yes, I can, Red,” He says back, before leaning in to kiss you again.
//
Your eyes are heavy with sleep as you spot Matt, laying across the couch, looking like a god damn renaissance painting. He’s so hot. You find yourself walking over to him, dropping your new necklace on the coffee table, as you climb on top of him,  finding yourself literally acting like a blanket, burying your face in his neck as his hand comes up to, like usual, let you gently suck on his fingers.
Frank rolls his eyes when he sees the pair of you cuddling, and just shakes his head when he sees the stim toy abandoned on the table. He takes out his phone and takes a picture of the pair of you, Matt just in his briefs, and you in your entire pajama ensemble.
The apartment is full of a gentle silence, as Frank watches the pair of you sleep, quietly thankful that he kept living.

A/N: Trope de Sept order got a little shuffle. Don't worry, everything is still coming, I just wanted to space out characters, fic types, etc. now that I have a better idea of what the rest of the fics will be.
*I never give permission for my fics, manips, or any other original creation I post on this site to be copied, posted elsewhere, translated, or fed into any AI program. The only platform I currently post anything on is Tumblr. Thanks!*
How you and Bucky managed to get separated from the rest of the team, you weren’t sure.
The Hydra base was recently abandoned. Tipped off that the Avengers were on their way, they scrambled to make their escape, leaving miscellaneous papers, weapons, and other evidence of guilt behind.
You certainly weren’t going to take anyone in on this, but at least you’d have some clues that could maybe point to where they’d be next.
You and Bucky made your way into some kind of lab, the rest of the team raiding other areas of the base. Coms were down, but you weren’t too concerned as there seemed to be no threat that required back up. Hydra left this place abandoned and disheveled due to their hastened exit.
“Shit. There’s no one here.” Bucky lamented, sending a set of empty beakers crashing to the floor in frustration
“Not no one, but sure as shit ain’t Hydra.” a gravelly voice cut through the darkness of the lab
You and Bucky turned to the source; a tall figure attached to dusty combat boots, vest dripping with white paint smears and long-ago dried blood splatters. He wore a scowl on his tired face, a bruise covering the left side of his jaw, and had a rifle slung over his shoulder.
“Castle.” Bucky nodded toward him
“Barnes. Sweetheart.” he nodded back to the two of you
“I’m sorry– sweetheart? How do you two…” Bucky asked, pointing between you and Frank.
“Remember when you said I should get a hobby? You know when weeks go by and there are no missions?” you said
“I meant like, take up pickleball or crocheting; not get sexually involved with vigilantes.”
“Hey, hey!” Frank rebutted
“Woah!” you also interrupted Bucky’s implication “Who said anything about me sleeping with him? No, I started taking on some– let’s just call them personal cases outside of work. You know, using my powers to be the everyman's hero. I run into Frank on rooftops sometimes.”
“So your hobby is being a superhero, when you’re not at work being a superhero?”
“I mean sometimes we also sleep with each other.” Frank added
Frank was lucky your powers didn’t involve laser vision, or else he’d be burnt to a crisp by the way you glared at him.
“Really, doll? Castle?”
“You know what Bucky, I don’t need judgment from someone who's dating pool includes all four of the Golden Girls. Wait, how do you two know each other?” you motioned between him and Frank
“A mutual friend of ours, Curtis Hoyle, runs a veterans therapy group once a week. It usually also turns into a poker game at my place afterwards.”
“Wilson joins sometimes too.” Frank added
“Didn’t think this was your scene, Castle,” Bucky said, bringing the subject back to the mission “Thought you worked alone. You’re not thinking of joining up are you?”
Frank scoffed. “Nah. Following a lead. Led me here.”
“To a world wide terrorist orginization’s base?”
“You’d be surprised how many of the street level scumbags I chase down are involved in shit like this.”
“So you came here to go all Punisher on them?”
Frank raised an eyebrow and nodded.
“Sure, the Avengers have been playing whack-a-mole with them for years, but the vigilante with a rage problem and a bunch of guns is gonna do it.” you said with a roll of your eyes.
“Fairness to me, didn’t know just what this place was til I got here.”
Bucky let out a deep exhale. He glanced between you and Frank, before returning his focus to the abandoned lab around you.
“Well you’re here now, might as well make yourself useful.”
The three of you looked high and low through the lab and turned up nothing of real value that could even be a glimmer of a lead on what Hydra was planning next or where they had scurried off to.
Bucky used his vibranium arm to bust open the door of a locked walk-in freezer, the last place it seemed you hadn’t searched.
Various test tubes and bags of medical supplies sat on the shelves, some full of odd looking substances, others spilled over and shattered from Hydra’s escape efforts.
Frank walked up to a shelf containing vials of cherry-colored liquid, picking one up in his large hand and examining it curiously.
“Don't touch that!” Bucky exclaimed, lunging forward just as Frank turned his head
Their bodies collided, sending the glass canister spinning into the air and crashing down to the ground. The red substance splashed all over the concrete floor and tiny fragments of glass flew in every direction.
“Castle, please tell me you didn’t just do that.”
“The hell you mean, me? You’re the one who pushed me!” Frank argued back
Bucky’s panic stricken gaze met yours and you had never seen fear quite like this in his eyes.
“Don't breathe.” he commanded
“What do you mean don’t breathe?” you asked, shaking off some of the liquid that splattered on your boot
“Oh god, no no no. It’s too late. We’ve all already been exposed.” Bucky lamented, sinking to the floor with his head in his hands.
“Bucky, what is that stuff? What is going on?”
“It’s a serum.”
“Like a super soldier serum?”
“Yes. But also no. This one’s effects are temporary. And highly potent. And very airborne.”
“Airborne. Like we all just breathed it in?”
“Yep.” he confirmed
“So what does it do? What’s gonna happen to us?” you asked, panic rising in your chest
“When I was theirs,” he motioned to the room around you, implying his time as Hydra’s prisoner “They realized all their sick experiments finally worked on me and they wanted more super soldiers, to replicate what they’d created in my bloodstream. The problem was, this was right around the time Dr. Zola got captured and arrested by the team that would become Shield.”
You glanced up and down the shelves once more, hoping something in here could be used for first aid in treating whatever the hell was about to happen to the three of you.
“So without their best scientist, no matter how many liters of my blood they took and tried to recreate the serum with, they couldn’t. In a last ditch attempt, they thought maybe it could be transferred genetically, They thought maybe they could use me to breed more supersoldiers.”
Your attention snapped back to Bucky.
“Breed? Wait, so they made you…? Oh my god, with who?!” you asked in horror as Bucky revealed yet another disturbing detail of his past
“Usually volunteers for Hydra’s cause. Sometimes other prisoners; women they also had been doing experiments on.”
“That’s disgusting.” you commented
“Believe me, I’m aware.”
“But what does that have to do with that stuff?” Frank motioned to the mess still splattered on the floor
“Zola’s prodigy, a real peach of a human named Dr. Whitehall, wanted to ensure the maximum possibility my DNA would take and the women participants would be as fertile as possible. I mean, after all this shit they did to me before, they thought maybe my swimmers would be pretty fried and they could create something to remedy that. So that stuff is a concoction he created in the 70s, basically it enhances all sexual urges to their most primal instinct, so those exposed are inclined to reproduce.”
“So it’s horny juice?” Frank asked
“Eloquent as always Castle, but yes. I’d say we have about ten more minutes before it kicks in. Once it does, it’s really painful until it’s out of your system or until you act on what it wants you to.” he turned to you “Okay here’s what’s gonna happen– Doll, you’re gonna go outside and lock Frank and me in this freezer so you’ll be safe from us.”
“Safe from you? What do you mean?”
“This stuff, it kinda alters your self control for a while. Like I said, it makes you run more on instinct, especially when the painful side effects hit. Once it starts kicking in, we’ll do anything to get rid of the pain. Frank and I won’t be able to resist you and you won’t be up for putting up much of a fight either. Get somewhere where our coms will work again and radio to the team, have them get you to Banner’s lab immediately. He might be able to concoct something to ease your symptoms for a few days.”
“A few days?!”
“Well it fades faster if you… ya know. But if you don’t, it could take a while to move through your system.”
“What about the two of you?”
“We’ll just have to… take care of ourselves here.” he said, making lewd gesture with his hand “Won’t be as efficient as the real thing, but it’ll help.”
“I’m not gonna leave the two of you to just jack off and suffer.”
“Sweetheart, we’ll be fine. Just worry about you.” Frank chimed in, agreeing with Bucky
“If the solution is to… you know fuck it out. I mean shit, it’s nothing I haven’t already done with either of you.”
“Excuse me?” Frank inquired, now the one whipping his head to look between the two of you
“Remember in group a couple months ago when I said I got casually involved with a coworker, but broke it off cause it was getting in the way of our work? Well...” Bucky gestured towards you
“Unbelievable.” Frank grumbled with a shake of his head
You sat on the floor across from Bucky, tac suit suddenly feeling a bit too tight and itchy against your skin.
“This freezer we’re in… it’s still on right?” you asked
“Yeah.”
“Then why do I feel like I’m gonna combust at any minute?”
“It’s the serum. Shit, it’s already taking effect.” Bucky rushed over and crouched down beside you “Doll, you sure you don’t want to get out of here?”
“No. I want to stay. I want to help both of you and I don’t want to go through this alone either.” you said, unzipping your jacket and tossing it across the room without a thought, “Jesus it feels like my blood is on fire.”
You fanned yourself with your hands to no avail. This must have been how your mother felt during your teenage years when she’d lament about hot flashes.
Suddenly, you understood what Bucky meant by pain all over your body. It started small, almost like a needle prick, near your abdomen, but rapidly spread like ink on wet parchment.
Evidence that they were both starting to feel it too was showing; the way Frank’s brows were scrunched and how he was keeled over, hands on his knees with white knuckles gripping at his jeans. Bucky’s supersoldier powers combined with his previous exposures to this substance, he seemed reasonably calm compared to the two of you. His blue eyes were glazed over in a vacant stare as he sat on the ground across from you. Sweat droplets were beginning to form on his unusually pale skin.
“P–please” you begged to both of them, pain suddenly unbearable as you pushed your pelvis off the floor, trying to find relief with friction against nothing.
You reached out to Bucky, but he shook his head no.
“Take care of Frank first.” he lulled his head to look at you “I’m more resistant to it’s effects. I’ll be fine for a while.”
“How many times do we have to… you know, to get it out of our systems?” you asked, still writhing your body against the air.
“As many times as it takes.” Bucky said
“Frankie” you reached a hand forward, beckoning him towards you.
He stumbled as he crossed the room, still slouched over slightly as he walked.
Frank’s cock was obviously strained against his jeans as he crouched down in front of you, deep brown eyes meeting your gaze.
“Sweetheart, you sure?” he asked once more, resistance to the serum fading quickly as he ran the back of two fingers down your arm, stroking you in reassurance.
As soon as his hand brushed your skin, icy relief washed over you, sending goosebumps along your flesh. You had the irresistible urge to press more of his skin against yours, to be as close to him as possible to quell the heat still bubbling beneath the surface.
All you could do was nod in response as you lunged forward, rubbing your hand along the bulge in his pants. Frank whined, a sound you’d never heard him make in the times you’d fallen into bed together, before crashing his lips against yours.
His kisses were fiery, full of tongue and teeth, like he just couldn’t drink enough of you in. Usually so patient and tender in bed, his large hands were now clawing at you, desperately trying to rid you of your clothes as quickly as he could.
He tugged off your boots in one motion, allowing you to shimmy your pants down your body. Both of your shirts were quickly discarded as well. Fumbling to unbutton his jeans and push them down, Frank let out a relieved sigh as he finally freed his aching cock. The cool air from the freezer hit your sopping cunt, refreshing as another wave of heat rolled through your body as the serum was now fully in control.
You glanced over to Bucky as Frank laid you down on the hard concrete floor. His eyes were squeezed shut in a mixture of pain and pleasure, flesh hand down his pants stroking himself to quell the growing anguish as he listened to you and Frank.
“Goddamnit doll, I can smell you.” His breathing was labored as he spoke.
Frank reached down, running a trembling finger through your folds.
“Shit Barnes, of course you can, she’s soaked.”
“P– please Frank” You begged again as Frank touched you where you needed him most, the action unknowingly teasing you into more pain.
“Shhh shh shh sweetheart. I know. It’s hurting me too. I’ll take care of you.” Frank reassured, sliding two fingers into you effortlessly
A strained sob slipped from you as he pumped in and out of you, relieved at the sensation but still in so much agony from not getting what you really needed.
“I think you’re ready.” he commented, barely restraining himself from just taking you roughly
You reached for his shoulders, guiding him fully on top of you. As he lowered himself he slid inside you in one motion, sinking all the way in easily. The serum didn’t allow him any pause, hips immediately snapping in and out with rough thrusts, primal need taking full control. His ample length repeatedly hit that perfect spingey spot inside you, causing you to cry out.
God the sounds in the room were downright sinful. Frank, who had been incredibly verbal during your previous trists, now reduced to only groans and grunts being swallowed by your sloppily placed kisses. Bucky’s lewd moans echoed off the walls and combined with the sound of skin slapping and your mewling. The vulgar symphony only spurred you on. Your peak hit you surprisingly quickly, though you attributed that to the foreign chemical invading your system.
It was like no other orgasm you’d ever had, like those viral videos of a firework finale all accidentally exploding at once. It felt endless, like you’d just be there cumming on the floor for the rest of your life.
“Shit honey, keep squeezing me just like that.” Frank finally found his words, climbing his own summit to relief. His large hand gripped at your jaw, steadying you beneath him as his movements became more erratic, an improvised drum solo of a brutal pace.
His dark eyes met yours, pupils blown out as he watched you come apart beneath him once more. Another overwhelming orgasm washed over you, more intense than the last.
That was enough to drag Frank over the edge with you. He pulsed deep inside you, filling you to the brim so much that you could feel it running down your legs before he even pulled back.
“Goddamnit.” he groaned into your shoulder
Sprawled out on the floor, you were an absolute mess of your own slick and sweat and Frank’s cum, but you didn’t care. You still direly needed more relief and knew Bucky must’ve been in total agony by this point; listening and watching you and Frank go at it.
“How you doing sweetheart?” Frank asked as he rolled off you, now a little more clarity that he’d gotten one orgasm out. You could still see the strained muscles in his neck, his skin still a shade of red as his lust was not yet fully satiated.
“Better. Still hurts a little but much more bearable. Bucky, you ready to take over?”
He was slumped against the wall, eyes still squeezed shut. His jacket and shirt were gone and his pants were undone. But he’d given up on touching himself, knowing it wouldn’t soothe his suffering in the way he needed. You crawled across the floor toward him.
“Hey Buck? Eyes on me baby.”
His eyes snapped open and looked at you, full of desperation and pity.
“Let me help, yeah?” you spoke sweetly
He nodded, watching limply as you fumbled with his fly and exposed his throbbing length.
A switch seemed to flip inside him as you straddled him and sank down, coming alive with an animalistic fervor as you rocked your hips slowly. He let out a hearty exhale feeling your velvety walls all the way down his cock, finally alleviating the anguish he’d been trying so hard to conceal.
Every sensation in your body was amplified, every touch of Bucky’s skin against yours was exquisite, every caress of his metal arm up and down your back shot like lightning striking straight to your core. You could feel every ridge of his cock, every thrust, every exhale. Overwhelmed by it all, you collapsed against his shoulder, letting him take the reins as he began to pitch himself up into you. How different he was too in this circumstance than the times previously you’d had him. Long languid strokes to ensure you’d feel it all long forgotten in favor of dragging you down by the hips over and over to meet his pace, every slam punctuated by lust and fury. Muttering ‘oh god’ and ‘yes baby please’ into your ear.
A soft caress brushed along the back of your neck, Frank kneeling behind you placing tender, open-mouthed kisses across your shoulder blades as you and Bucky fucked it out. The urge must’ve been building in him again because his hands were all over you and soon enough you weren’t sure whose grasp was where, only vaguely aware because Bucky’s vibranium touch was cool and calm amongst the heightened temperature of your sweaty skin.
Your orgasm with Bucky blossomed, rising from deep within your core and spreading like wings in the breeze. You cried into his shoulder as he did not relent in his pace, pulling your pelvises flush as he came inside you with a carnal moan.
But you still weren’t satiated and you could tell neither were they. Fuck, this was gonna be a long night.

Quite like what I found in you, you
I loved singing and I was so fortunate enough to be Matt’s girlfriend because he knew people and was able to get me gigs. I was so fucking thankful for him because without him I would still be singing in my room and posting it to YouTube.
Tonight I actually had a show for this talent show type of thing in town. It was a pretty big event, but also a talent show designed by people who are looking to scout out the next Ariana Grande. I was super grateful that Matt was able to pull some strings and get me in. I wasn’t sure that I wanted to be this huge famous singer, but to catch the eyes of people who could make me famous, and just get my name out there a little more did sound appealing.
I was super excited to perform this set because I was able to get a few backup dancers and come up with a seductive and powerful dance. I actually was so excited to step outside of my comfort zone and perform something totally different.
Currently I was getting ready with my backup dancers waiting to be called next, and I was so fucking nervous I mean I never did anything like this, and to have Matt, Chris and Nick all watching formed a pit in my stomach.
Not to mention this was my first time dancing on stage in front of a bunch of people in heels….. I was so fucking scared. We wore black blazers with black lingerie under, fishnet stockings and red heels. This was all so new to me I felt like throwing up. I’ve never worn anything like this publically. But I decided to shake it off, and get ready.
My group and I were the last ones on stage, and we decided they would walk out first, and then me. I looked onto the stage and saw the props being set up, black chairs where we would basically be doing lap dances on. God why did I want to throw up so much? I think it was the fact that Matt and his brothers were front row…
They called out my name, and my girls walked out first sitting the chairs with their legs crossed. I took one last deep breath before walking out and standing sitting in my chair. Suddenly the lights when up on us, and the song started playing
“I bust the windows out your car, and no it didn’t mend my broken heart” I sang out looking up
“I’ll probably always have these ugly scars, but right now. i don’t care about that part” I sang slowly getting up from my chair
I kept singing as I slowly unbuttoned my blazer. Earning cheers from the crowd
I slowly walked to my chair standing behind it “You see you can’t just play with peoples feelings” I sang as I seductively ran my hand down the front of the chair
“Tell them you love them, and don’t mean it” I sang walking to the front of chair
Slowly I turned around bending over slightly to show my ass as I sat down on the chair, giving my back to the crowd.
“You’ll probably say that it was juvenile, but I think that I deserve to smile” I sang running my hand through my hair
Two of my backup dancers came over helping me out of my blazer. Allowing my half naked body to be on display
I leaned back showcasing my neck and half covered breast to the crowd
“I bust the windows out your car, You know I did cause i left my mark” I sang slowly coming back up
I turned over continuing to sing as I ran my hands over my body, spreading my legs and leaning forward. Locking eyes with Matt in the crowd
My backup dancers came over to me running their hands all over my body as I rolled my neck back as I sang.
As I sang we started to dance swaying our bodies, grabbing onto each other. They circled me before getting down on their knees raking their hands up my legs and to my ass
“You could never feel how I felt that day. Until that happens baby you don’t know pain” I sang as we did our next move which was laying on the floor with our legs spread open, and then putting our right left over the left and turning us over. Lifting our ass off the floor slowly as I continued to sing.
“You broke my heart, so I broke your car” I sang slowly getting up and running my hands up my body
“You caused me pain, so I did the same” I sang as we swayed our hips to the beat
We were nearing the end of the performance, and I never felt more powerful than now.
As I sang the last part I seductively walked over to my chair sitting down, and one of my dancers came over sitting on my lap as I ran my hands up her body.
“Now watch, I bust the windows out your car” I sang before the song ended
Everyone was standing up cheering and clapping and whistling at us. We all got up bowing and waving at everyone blowing kisses before we ran off stage.
“HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AMAZING GUYS” I said to my girls
“Dude we fucking killed it” they said as we tried to catch our breath
“I’m so proud of you guys for killing it tonight” I said pulling them into a group hug
We all changed into our regular clothes, saying our goodbyes and heading out. I met Matt and his brothers outside.
“Babyyyyy you fucking did amazing holy shit” Matt said smiling at me and pulling me in for a hug
“Thank you baby” I said kissing him
“Y/N you fucking ate that shit up, I would’ve never thought you were like that” Nick said hugging me too
“I was so nervous I didn’t think I had that in me either” I said laughing
“Yeah I almost felt like I wasn’t supposed to see some of those moves” Chris said laughing and hugging me
“Stoppp thank you guys” I said laughing
We headed out to have a celebratory dinner before heading back home.
When we got back to the triplets house I decided to shower and change into some pajamas before heading to Matt’s bed.
“Thank you for coming tonight” I said to Matt as I snuggled up to him
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world” he said winking at me
“You’re too good to me” I said kissing him
“My sexy girlfriend singing and dancing, how could I not be front row” he said smiling into the kiss
“You’re making me blush” I said smacking his chest playfully
“That dance was so fucking hot, and that outfit whewww could’ve sworn I got hard” he said in a whisper
“Oh yeah?” I asked smirking at him
“Might have to buy you more lingerie and fishnets now” he said licking his lips
“You dirty boy” I said to him
He glanced at me before pulling me in to smash our lips together. A heated kiss full of tongue and clashing teeth. So needy and hungry….fuck I needed Matt now
He pulled me on top of him, deepening our kiss as he ran his hands down my back and to my ass, gripping.
“God you drive me crazy” he said pulling away and running his tongue along his teeth
“I need you like now” I said running my fingers along his face
“Me too” he said his pupil dilated
I lifted up pulling my shirt off exposing my chest to Matt as I leaned forward smashing our lips together again. Running my hands up Matt’s shirt causing him to shiver.
I moved my kisses to his jawline, and then down to his neck. Peppering kisses down his neck causing him to moan
“Feeling good Matty?” I asked looking up at him
“Always” he said breathlessly
Matt lifted up to remove his shirt
“I love your tattooed arm” I said running my hands along his arm looking over at him to see him already staring at me
“Yeah?” He asked his chest rising up and down
“So so hot…maybe you can fuck me with your arm around my neck” I said winking at him
His eyes widen before his cheeks redden a bit.
I lean back down as I kiss him again, our chests touching making my skin burn and my heart flutter with desire.
I slid off of Matt to take my underwear off, he took off his pajama pants as well along with his underwear. When I looked over to him he was looking over at the mirror that’s diagonal from his bed.
I smirked, and looked at him
“Want to fuck me infront of the mirror pretty boy?” I asked
“If you want me to” he said looking over at me
“I want nothing more” I said
He pulled me back on top of him continuing to kiss him
I slowly started to grind on his dick allowing my arousal to cover him
“Mmm keep doing that and I’ll cum” he said looking down in between us
I moaned at his words and the feeling of his thick cock hitting my clit. I shuddered around him
“Gonna let me fuck that pretty pussy go yours?” He asked running his hands up my body
“Please” I mewled out
Matt lifted up slowly allowing me to fall back as he leaned over, wrapping his hand around my neck as he kissed me. Using that same same hand to turn my head as he kissed down my neck to my chest and down the valley of my breasts
From the valley of my breast he licked his way up back to my mouth where we made out
“I can’t hold out any longer” he said pulling
“Fuck me Matt” I croaked out
Matt lifted me up and brought me to the corner of his bed facing towards the mirror
“You get to watch me fuck you dumb” he said running his hand down my back and smacking my ass
“Oh Matt” I moaned out
He massaged my ass looking into my eyes through the mirror. He licked his lips before bringing his dick to my entrance slowly sliding into me
I let my mouth fall open as I gripped the sheets. Matt stretched me out so good everytime we fucked it made my head dizzy.
“So tight” he said bottoming out as he let his head roll back
“Fuck Matt you feel so good” I moaned out
Slowly he started to thrust into me, deep and harder. Our moans filling the room as he fucked into me
Matt gripped my waist as he fucked me causing me to fall more limp into the bed as I watched him in the mirror.
Matt’s mouth was hung open as he grunted into me, looking over at me in the mirror as his cold eyes laid on mine. Causing me to clench down on him, my stomach burning with arousal
“Shitttttt” I moaned out gripping the sheets harder
Matt kept pounding into me as he smacked my ass occasionally. I was just watching him as moans and pants fell out. My mouth hung up as I started to drool on the sheets.
“Am I fucking you dumb?” He asked licking his lips
“Y-Yes” I moaned out shutting my eyes as he started to drill into me even faster
Matt lifted me up by my hair causing me to gasp
“Look at yourself, making a mess on my cock” he said whispering into my ear as he looked into my eyes through the mirror
“Fuck Matt” I moaned out letting my head fall forward slightly as my mouth hung open
Matt pulled me back wrapping his tattooed arm around my neck as he pounded into me
“MATTT” I moaned out at the new feeling
“I’m giving you your wishes” he grunted out
His dick hitting all the right places, and I was pure puddy in his arms
“I get to watch you take my cock like a good slut and your perfect tits bounce in the mirror” he said grabbing my right breast and squeezing
“I’m going to cum” I moaned out letting my head fall forward slightly
“Me too baby, come on give it to me. I’m begging for it pretty girl” he said into my ear
Matt’s hips were snapping into me in such a delicious way, my mouth fell slack and I started to drool on his arm.
“Drooling on me now are we? Am I fucking you that good?” He asked biting his lip
“Fuck Matt…YES YES SO GOOD” I moaned out as he brought his other hand down to rub my clit
“Come on baby cum on my cock” he said rubbing faster
“Fuckkkkk” I moaned out started to quiver against him
“Give it to me I know you can” he said
“I- I’m- I’m gonna cum” I stuttered out
My mouth fell slack as I clenched down onto Matt. My orgasm washing over me as I shook on Matt’s cock. My thighs shaking and giving out on me
“Fuck Matt oh my god” I said breathing heavily as I looked at him through the mirror
“I’m gonna cum baby” he said moaning into my ear
He let me lean forward as he pulled out stroking his dick before letting his jaw fall slack. His lower abdomen began to quiver as he came on my ass
“Fuckkk y/n” he moaned out as he shuddered
He looked at me through the mirror trying to catch his breath.
“You look so fucking sexy like this” he said licking his lips
“Fuck Matt I love you so much” I said blissed out
“I love you so much too” he said
Matt got off the bed grabbing a warm towel and cleaning me up. Before helping me off the bed.
“Let’s shower” he said helping me to his bathroom
Matt and I showered, and then got out. We decided to have a snack before heading back to his room to watch a movie. We eventually dozed off in each others arms.
The End
