It’s official SACAMARI IBRIDO CUCUMBERS (the one behind the other one) are my bestest favourites in the whole wide world!!!! The skin isn’t too thick, the flesh is nicely firm with not huge seeds.the flesh is quite sweet and the skin has a teeny tiny itsy bitsy bit of bitterness which actually perfect balancing the whole thing. I had some raw and omg!!! The flavour was outstanding and it’s not floppy, it totally holds its shape. Cooked I can’t even describe to you the joy of finding the perfect cooking cucumber. I love love love adding cucumbers to stir-fries, finding the right one is hard. The Sacamari Ibrido is the perfect stirfry cucumber. It holds is firmness, doesn’t go overly soft or soggy and the heat added to it actually brings more of the flavour out. I have already told Tanny these will be a permanent fixture in our garden for life he just sat there and chuckled. He is amused because I am overly excited about this so yes the cucumber jokes are flying lol. So guys if you want an incredible all round cucumber this is honestly the one to get. Obviously I haven’t tried pickling it yet but that will be next when the rest mature. PS Not burpless but I’m a grub and think it’s a small price to pay for such an incredible fruit!!! . . I made this stir fry with cherry tomatoes, onion, sacamari Ibrido cucumber, noodles and a splash of soy sauce. Perfick!!! #bloosfood #thebloopixie #kitchengarden #containergardening #containergarden #polytunnel #cucumbers #sacamariibrido #japanesecucumber #stirfry #gardentotable #growyourownveg #growyourownfood #growyourownveggies #growityourself #plantbasedfood #plantbased #plantbasedmeals #veganfood #vegetarian #vegetarianfood #gardenersofinstagram #foodstgram #instafood #yummy #yum #yummyfood https://www.instagram.com/p/CS4bYS2qLka/?utm_medium=tumblr

Hello my name is Baldric ... I m a girl honest .. but when I was rescued from a battery hen farm... I looked like I d been boiled .. I had hardly any feathers .. my quill was pale and so were my eyes .. it broken my human mamas heart to see how sorry I looked .. me and my sisters .. . . She’s loved us .. given us our best life to roam and feel the sun on our backs .. watch rain and snow and wonder what it was .. eat bugs .. scratch up the mud , ( even eat her veggies !!) . And look at me now! . I was called Baldric because I looked as bad as Baldric from #blackadder , but now my name is a badge of honour for how far I ve come .. plus I lay the most amazing eggs. . . So if you ever thing to save a couple of my sisters from being slaughtered after living a life trapped in a cage .. this is what you ll look forwards too .. a funny friend who gives you eggs .. who will grow under your love. . . 🐓 . . . #chickenmama #saved #rescuechickens #batteryhenrescue #batteryhen #exbatteryhens #livingtheirbestlife #higginsstyle #thegoodlife #goodfood #growyourownveg #growyourownveggies https://www.instagram.com/p/BuPsQlmn-_V/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=10rsp44eytel1

Your hard work can make nature redundant... Imagine a car on a road on a hill about to go down, it free-wheels down and builds momentum, reaches the bottom and starts to ascend the next hill with it's momentum. However this car has no engine and shortly loses it's speed. So you start to push the car up the next hill hopefully with help from your friends in order to climb and through a momentus effort you make it to the start of the next hill. Then start again. Imagine a garden the same way, by missing out key components you only have momentum from your effort and not a powered capability. So by using an engine which could be symbolised as I.M.O. (microbes) we can drive the car rather than push it. Maybe we need to refil the car (or charge) and generally manage the machine but this is managing not labouring. The momentus effort to push a car up a hill is like a seasonal cultivation in order to break up the weathered, compacted ground or by refertilising and removing weeds. By putting the effort into the initial garden build you can put that engine into the garden and cruise around town. This is done through no-dig and I.M.O. methods focusing on the real reason why plants grow and the real food content that we need to be healthy without the pain and heartbreak to do so. #treadit #treaditgardens #collectivegardens #notillfarming #notillgarden #gardenlife🌱 #nodiggarden #sustainablegarden #nodiggardens #allotments #allotmentuk #diygarden #diygardening #raisedgarden #soilmicrobes #knf #vegetablegardening #vegetablegardens #vegetablegardener #growyourownveg #kitchengardens #kitchengardening #urbangardeners #composting #soilhealth #ediblegardening #plantlife🌱 #backtoedengarden #backtoedengardening #backtoeden via @preview.app https://www.instagram.com/p/CZi4kEgvfEG/?utm_medium=tumblr

A Plant-based Diet
For many years now, Dieticians and Food Scientists have promoted the benefits of eating a more plant-based diet and cutting back on eating meat.
This view is supported by recent research which is summarised below:
A Plant-Based Diet Can Lower Your Blood Pressure
A report published in JAMA Internal Medicine in 2014, based on 39 separate studies concluded that those on a vegetarian diet had lower blood pressure than those who ate meat and also had a 34 percent lower risk of developing hypertension than non-vegetarians.
A Plant-Based Diet Can Keep Your Heart Healthy
Meat contains saturated fat, which can affect heart health issues when eaten in excess. A study published in 2019 in the Journal of the American Heart Association found that eating a plant-based diet reduces the risk of developing heart disease by 16 percent and dying of this health condition by about 31 percent.
A Plant-Based Diet Can Help Prevent Type 2 Diabetes
It’s well known that there is a link between diet and type 2 diabetes, with weight being on of the major risk factors according to the Mayo Clinic. A study published in June 2016 in PLoS Medicine found that eating a plant-based diet filled with high-quality plant foods reduced the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 34 percent.
Eating a Plant-Based Diet Could Help You Lose Weight
The risk of obesity decreases when you swap a meat-heavy diet for a plant-based one. A study by Diabetes Care in 2016 found the average body mass index for vegans was 23.6, while for non-vegetarians, it was 28.8.
Eating a plant-based diet can help lose weight too. According to a study published in March 2017 in Nutrition & Diabetes, 65 overweight adults who followed a whole-food, plant-based diet for one year lost 9.25 pounds on average.
Following a Plant-Based Diet Long Term Can Help You Live Longer
All of the other potential benefits listed here add up to just one thing: a real possibility of living longer. The Journal of the American Heart Association study found that a plant-based diet lowers the risk of all causes of mortality by 25 percent.
A Plant-Based Diet Can Decrease Your Risk of Cancer
Research suggests that a plant-based diet may also help prevent cancer. The American Institute for Cancer Research says the best way to source cancer-protective nutrients is to eat a diet rich in vegetables, fruit, grains, beans, nuts, seeds.
A Plant-Based Diet Can Improve Your Cholesterol
High cholesterol can lead to fatty deposits in the blood, which can restrict blood flow and potentially lead to heart attack, stroke, or heart disease, but a healthy diet can help keep cholesterol levels in check. A diet which is primarily plant based can lower LDL (bad) cholesterol by between 10 and 15 percent, while those following a strict vegan diet can lower their LDL cholesterol by as much as 25 percent, according to a review of 27 studies published in The American Journal of Cardiology.
Eating a Plant-Based Diet Can Minimise Your Risk of Stroke
In general, it is accepted that our risk of stroke increases if we have high blood pressure, are overweight, have diabetes or heart disease, have high cholesterol, or smoke, drink, or use drugs. Most of those risk factors can be significantly reduced by eating a plant-based diet and making healthy lifestyle choices.
One simple way to reduce your risk is by increasing your intake of fruits and vegetables. The highest consumers of fruits and vegetables had a 21 percent lower risk of stroke than those who consumed the least, according to a study published in June 2014 in Stroke.
Conclusion:
The biggest reason for us to change to a plant-based diet is so that we may save the planet and the human species. The human and animal species are all part of the same eco-system. The more animal proteins we consume, the more we deplete the world’s resources so it is not an over-statement to say eating a plant based diet can help save us and the planet.

#mentalhealthawarenessweek2021 @mentalhealthfoundation This year’s theme is spending time in nature to improve mental health. If you are able to get outside to parks and nature areas, you will get a much needed boost of vitamin D. If you have a garden, get out and start planting up so that you have a gorgeous, colourful garden in tie for the summer. Grow your own food. You can use plant pots to plant food ( I personally do not plant into the ground incase my neighbours are using weed killers and pesticides). I have around 40 indoor plants which I absolutely love, and they improve the vibe on my house. I also have potatoes, carrots, chives, rocket, strawberries 🍓 and so many more types of fruits and veggies growing in my garden 😍🥰 🥕 🥔 🍅 🥗 plus! Lots of flowers 💐 Watching them grow makes my heart smile 🥰 What ways do you get involved with nature? #fit4mii #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #natureformentalhealth #nature #growyourown #growyourownfood #growyourownveggies #growyourownveg #growyourownfruit #gardening #gardeninspiration #gardenideas #ggrowthmindset #healing www.fit4miiapp.com https://www.instagram.com/p/COxI3o4BBSJ/?igshid=nxalegvi30xf
