I don’t know what it is about a hardcover novella but they just make my brain go hnnnngh. All other hardcovers are banned

I just realized I never showed my homemade Where Home Is trophy hardcover smh
New vs old again bc it has an old "paperback" version!
Hardcover was made with transfer paper for the title stuff and stencils were used with golden acrylics for the patterns. I saw the stencil and I knew on sight it would be for Where Home Is. My hard basis seems to have gotten a weird fold and I think it's from the transfer paper's heat?? Not sure, I just know it wasn't there at first but it's okay, I know Lucerne would love it anyway.
Here's a peek of the inside (gasp, hand pic). I had the paperpack's covers plastified too hard so it had issues opening but it's not too bad since its purpose was mostly "trophy" where I can point at it and go "bruh, I did that, that's a lot of words"
Only Light on the Horizon left, printed Welcome Aboard the Maria and so it's ready for folding and sewing (though kinda debating printing the last signature that holds the refs bc the pencil portions are really hard to see for some reason, so I'd probs need to ink them) but At Hope’s End still needs a few touchups and a last look (though it's kinda long bc there's 71 chapters of it MCNJDNC)

My library book holds always seem to hit all at once, no matter how long the expected wait times were. Seven months, five weeks, twelve years. Nope! Just kidding. Here you go. All today. 📚♾️😭
I tease, but this does always seems to happen to me. I really do ❤️ my local library. And you can bet I'll never learn not to have a bunch of books on hold at once, because I always think I have them optimally staggered this time.
Spoiler: I don't.

My favourite feeling in the world is buying a book, and looking under the dust jacket just to see the most beautiful foiling details beneath
A true work of art

Did two other homemade hardcovers pretty much at the same time, so I’ll start with my older fic!
(I think there's a piece of thread on the back cover there but I'm too lazy to take another pic)
As it may be seen, I had some issues with the transfer paper this time, with the dark blue and purple emeralds. Blue one straight up folded while ironing and I'm not sure why but I fixed it as much as I could while the purple one just didn’t stick at all on one side for some reason and finally held after I put another layer of varnish there. The rest was fine though aside from me picking a slightly too pale color, whoops. Oh well.
The back cover was supposed to be fireworks using my gold and copper acrylic pencils but I realized i didn't know how to make fireworks so I just embraced the chaos and hoped for the best hehehe
Tried to texture it too with black acrylics but it didn't texture as much as I had hope. It was a good attempt though.
Here’s a look on the inside:
I kept it a little more "normal" looking since I didn't feel like a particular vibe fitted for the fonts, but I think it looks nice still.
A good pal of mine told me I should have put kudos and bookmarks on that lil "distributed" there and she's absolutely right so while I won't have them on the next hardcover I'll be presenting (it was printed at the same time), they will be on Light on the Horizon’s hardcovers B)
I still ran in that issue where the book doesn't fully open but it's much more lowkey now? Starting to wonder if maybe it’s a thickness thing since the other two with the issue are both 20k-ish words while this one is 50k (aka p thicker)
I'll just have to see if At Hope’s End has this issue I suppose hehehe

Are hardcover releases becoming more like collectables? With the amount of hardcover variations of single books/stories that seem to be releasing lately, it's starting to feel that way. From sprayed and stenciled edges to special illustrated interior covers. It's feeling like you have to collect them all.
What are your thoughts?
