letter to my friend
my dear friend.  i have thought about you so often lately and meant to write but somehow got distracted with other things - a problem i know you never have.  tomorrow comes so soon.  i remember how frequently we wrote after we re-discovered each other.  (which, by the way, i am eternally grateful we did.)  suffice it to say, i'm glad we haven't gotten too old to remember.
so you finally got through my emails.  some people never do.  i am so "wordy."  me?  gifted??  maybe i just have too much time on my hands.  something i know you're not familiar with. ha! ha! 😎 honestly, there are times when i think i am just being a bother to people and they are just too nice to tell me otherwise.  the angel on one shoulder tells me they are just quietly directing them to junk mail but the other side tells me i am being blessing to many shut-ins and others who look forward to them.  i guess it doesn't matter either way.  i feel God has laid upon me to do this thing at this time and i cannot do other than obey.  besides, every now and then when i try to proofread for errors, i know it wasn't me but God writing these words.
yes, my little prisoner.  i'm going to have to move her further up in my prayer list.  she's about thirty and i see her life going to pot (and i don't mean weed, although that and worse are involved too).  i remember calling in to a show years ago about something. the counselor asked my age and i too was about 30 at that time. she said,  "oh, you're at such a good age to do things for the Lord."  alas, i too went down a different path.  yes, even Jesus began his ministry at 30.  i guess that might be the optimal age. i would think if our glorified bodies have any kind of relation to age, i would suppose we would be an eternal 30.
i still have hopes for my prison lady.  i hear some man has now bailed her out and she is in kind of a limbo.  mother doesn't want her back and father is worse still.  the parent's confusion and sin produced after it's kind.  the cycle goes on.  what breaks it?  only God can and only they can ask Him too.  i cannot make that decision for them and God will not.  not a shallow asking but a deep hearted repentance for all they've done and a turning to Him.  i guess i really have to pray for them to know how far they've fallen; fallen from God's goodness.
(it looks like this is going to be a longer email.  got your coffee?)
that's funny about you forgetting the water in your canning.  i was reading just today on this local bulletin board that i also post the dailies on, about this woman who put up her groceries and absent mindedly put the ice cream in the frig instead of the freezer.  her comment: i guess i'm officially old!  she's got nothing on me. when i was much younger i put a couple items i meant to put in the trash in the refrigerator instead.  stop it!  i hear you laughing from here.
you're right about all the hacks and everything.  i watch a lady on youtube who is into homesteading and genealogy.  she was commenting on the state of things and about how people were giving their dna to find out their heritage.  i've always been reluctantly to do that but as she said: "if you've had any kind of blood work or surgery over the last 30 years or so, they already have it.  i guess she's right. the world is shrinking and has been paved for the antichrist to arrive and take control of everything.  it may well be complete when the digital currency is mandated and takes effect.
it can't be coincidental that so many "accidents" are happening all over the world.  oil fields set ablaze, train wrecks, animals dying.  i read recently where someone destroyed an at&t fiber network box and took everyone's internet down.  i have at&t. the day may come when internet is lost or controlled by others. much of it probably already is.
that's just counting the human element and not how even the earth itself is groaning for redemption - earthquakes, volcanoes, violent storms.  and then we must consider all the wars and casually speak of "nuclear" times.  a quick assessment would see people killing people fast enough without any technological influence.
why in God's name would people sit idly around while allowing leaders to make decisions leading them to starvation and extinction?  got to take everything electric, gas won't do - gas of any kind.  can't breed cattle anymore.  eat bugs.  can't fertilize and grow crops anymore.  the environment is more important than lives.  save the planet.
i remember reading once how some thought this virus was an attempt to thin out the over population.  if that's true more deaths than have already happened will be coming.  and i guess, if that doesn't work, they've got all these other things to help them achieve their goal.  of course we all know they have pre-chosen the "worthy" who will survive.
i think our God has different plans.  it amazes me to no end that lives could continue as "normal" in the days; a lot of them floating aimlessly, oblivious to all else around them; others always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth; the truth staring them in the face all the while.
i may not live to see the His second coming, but nothing in the world could ever convince me this is not the generation that will.  i don't know about anyone else but my eyes are searching the skies daily.  (yes, i can see the heavens even through my ceiling.  if up is down on the other side of the world, then up cannot be limited by anything material.  the eyes i am viewing with are spiritual.  i pray you have yours on too.
guess i'm running out of gas for now. (no pun intended.)  i ran on so long and got in so deep.  would you mind terribly if i made this a daily?  i really didn't discuss anything personal - other than we're both getting old and the world can see that without any help.  anyway, let me know.
now and forever your friend.  more than that, your sister in Christ Jesus.  may His name be blessed forever.
linda too

1. The Best Friends
Being friends with a psychic definitely had its ups and downs. At first, you didn’t notice a thing out of the ordinary with Saiki, well, granted you were kids when the both of you met so naturally you just wanted to be friends and thought nothing more. However, he noticed something odd with you the moment you two met.
He couldn’t read your mind.
Actually forget being about to read your mind, none of his psychic abilities worked on you. He couldn’t see through you and when he touched you without his super thin transparent gloves on nothing happened. You were basically immune to him.
At first, he thought something was wrong with you, or that maybe you had some psychic powers as well. That wasn’t the case at all. In reality, you were a normal human without any powers or tricks. That stumped Saiki even more, but it also became the soul reason he wanted to be your friend as well.
For one, he didn’t have to deal with your thoughts. Two, his image of you wasn’t ruined because he can’t see under your skin. Three, your calmer personality made him relax. And of course all those other things like your kindness and stuff, but those were irrelevant the moment he knew he couldn’t read your mind.
It’s been years since he met you in the park during recess, and now here you guys were, 16 years later and still friends. Oh, there was one thing that bothered him about you.
“What to hang out today?” You asked as you slung your bag over your shoulder.
“Sure.” Saiki said. Yep. That’s right, since he can’t get in your mind, he actually has to move his mouth when he talks to you.
It was a bit weird to others that he never did it with anyone else other than you, but he didn’t care.
On the way home he couldn’t help but notice you eyeing his antennas, the things that keep his powers stable. He turned his head towards you and gave you a curiosity look.
“Do those things poke at your head at all?” You asked, moving you hand up to poke at the top of the pink ball. “Like, does it make your head ichy?”
Saiki shook his head. He knew he had to talk to you at some points, but times like these he didn’t. He enjoyed that about you too, that you don’t force him to talk all the time. You knew it was a bit weird for him to talk, he explained it to you when he told you all about his powers.
“Hm,” you hummed out. Your hands going back at your side and into your pant pockets. “It would for me, if I was you. They just look painful, but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do if you don’t wanna blow up the world.”
Saiki nodded his head, his eyes continuing to linger on you. It was one days like these when he saw you thinking so hard about something that he wished he could just take a peak. At some points, he loved the silence, especially when the both of you were watching movies, but right now, especially in this moment, he’d give anything to know. It was mostly prominent when he’d stare at you during class and you’d have this far out look in your orbs, you drew him in, and perhaps that’s why he fell for you.
Though, there were other factors that won his favor. Mostly the fact that, unlike everyone else, he can’t stare right through you and just see your raw muscles and pumping organs. Instead, he was able to focus on your handsome face and not get side tracked about your racing thoughts. You were the only person in the world that make him feel somewhat normal. That was a love-hate relationship at times.
“Think I could sleep over tonight?” You suddenly asked, “we don’t have school tomorrow.”
Saiki stared at you for a moment just to relish in that fact that nothing worked on you. No telekinesis, mind control, no nothing. He was going to have to win your favor just like everyone else. To him, it wasn’t normal, but looking at you, he didn’t seem to mind the extra work.
“Sure,” Saiki said. He still had trouble talking aloud, hell, sometimes he will actually use telekinesis and wait for your response only to have pure silence. “My parents are leaving for a wedding, so the house should be free for a while.”
When the two of you got to Saiki’s house, it was a bit peaceful until his parents had to head out. You liked his mom and dad a lot, they were like your second family, so you wanted to wish them a good time. It was for one Saiki’s dad’s coworkers.
“Are you sure you don’t wanna come with us?” Saiki’s dad asked his son. “You’ve met Kirishima before, and you can bring [Name] as your plus one date.”
You knew Saiki wasn’t going to be interested in a wedding. He always told you normal happy events for others is misery for him since he can hear the jealousy and pity that the crowd is thinking. You felt sorry that he couldn’t turn it off, but you were glad that you were the only person he could catch a break with. However, when you looking over at Saiki, he seemed to entertain the thought.
It was a new side to Saiki, one that made you confused. It was always either you or no one. You could tell the way he wanted to get away from many of the people in his class that seemed to have declared themselves his friends from a small interaction. Sure, you felt their interest, but it was just a bit sad to you that Saiki could never actually enjoy friends unless they were pure. Otherwise, he could hear all the backstabbing thoughts or otherwise stupid comments that go around in their brain that was thought to be private to them.
“I’m going to have to pass,” you commented. “I don’t have a suit, besides, you two should enjoy the night. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you both go out alone.”
Saiki’s mom smiled widely at you. Her eyes clouding over with a wet film before wrapping her arms around you for a tight hug. “Ah, thank you, [Name]! What would we do without you?”
You chuckled softy at the comment before saying, “Who knows, I rather not think about that.”
When she finally let you go, you and Saiki waved the both of them off as they left. Honestly, you weren’t sure if they’d even make it back at a reasonable time. It was a wedding, after all. Oh well, as long as they make it back drunk and safe rather than drunk and not safe, you didn’t mind. You were sleeping over anyway, so right now, you just wanted to hang out with your childhood best friend.
“What do you wanna do?” You asked with a calming tone.
Saiki turned his head to you. “TV?”
“Sure,” you smiled. However, as soon as you turned to the living room, you noticed the absolute mess his parents left behind. So, out of the goodness of your heart, you said, “How about you find something and all clean up this in the meantime. Sound good?”
Saiki nodded once more. He truly thought your actions were kind, but he rather have you watching TV with him than picking up his dad’s dirty clothes. He knew his father tended to be sloppy, but this was just a mess.
As you were about to pick up a pair of jeans, all the clothes that were strewn about the floor suddenly started to float in the air and shoot into the open washing machine. The trash floated itself into the garage while everything else was moved around to make it look clean until otherwise.
You pressed your lips together as your brows furrowed in annoyance. Once you turned to Saiki and saw his innocence face, you knew you couldn’t be angry but you had to ask, “Do you really want me to watch TV with you that bad?”
“Yes,” Saiki stated.
You sighed, your lips parting as you left the oxygen leave your lungs. “Fine, but let’s both clean up a bit before than. It’ll be a nice surprise and a way to thank your parents for letting me stay the night.”
Saiki nodded. “Okay.”
It took a bit of convincing on your end to let him let you help out. You may not have powers, but you didn’t want to take advantage of his. You knew it was effortless and he made it seem like it didn’t affect him whatsoever, but you knew every time he does something it takes a toll. His powers aren’t perfect.
You both ended up cleaning the living room, Saiki’s room, and now you were in the kitchen sorting the trash. Saiki was using his powers to sort while you whipped down the countertops.
“Good grief,” Saiki said aloud, his voice drawing your eyes to him. He was crouched down with two bags in front of him and the garage floating upside down, it’s contents was either going in the first or second bag.
“What?” You asked curiosity. It wasn’t all the time that he speaks from his mouth without you talking first.
“How could anyone have let it get this dirty in here?” He asked aloud. “I mean, really it’s a wonder we don’t have bugs.”
You were going to respond. That was until he suddenly shut his mouth, a chest deep grunt leaving him as you notice him stare at something on the furniture next to him.
It was a cockroach.
Mind you, the moment you realized what it was you weren’t the least bit surprised when he suddenly teleported. Saiki hates bugs. He could read the minds of humans, as well as animals, but he couldn’t with bugs. He thought they were small minded icky things. Hell, he couldn’t even let his powers touch the thing.
You counted down the seconds before he came back. It was around ten, maybe fifteen. He also teleported right behind you.
“Welcome back,” you greeted and watched as his eyes dart towards the floor.
“Sorry, I may have overreacted.” He muttered. “I just hate them.”
“I know,” you hummed out before looking around and grabbing a cup and piece of paper. Saiki watched you as you let the roach crawl on the piece of paper before placing the cup over it so it didn’t run away. You were quick to put it outside and close the window after so Saiki didn’t worry about it coming back in.
“All gone,” you cheered with a smile. “Now, let’s watch TV, ya?”
2. Saiki’s Pushy Friends
PK Academy was a school were many different personalities and people collided. It was always fun to meet new people in this school, yet on the other side of the coin, sometimes they were more than a little odd. Not like you can speak, your best friend was a psychic. Though, he wasn’t delusional like this one guy in your class that declared himself Saiki’s friend. His name was Kaido. He thinks he has powers and has an evil organization following him around.
Then, you have Nendou. Basically, he’s stupid. Not that you minded, but sometimes being stupid isn’t the best thing in the world, especially now.
It was the sports festival at PK and Saiki and you had to participate in it. You both were on the same team since all the teams were decided by class. This also gave you a good idea of the friends Saiki has made. It was safe to say that Kaido was growing on you. You felt a little bad for the guy, what can you say.
Let’s not forget about Hairo as well. You knew him a bit more from hearsay than the others, plus he was class rep. Though, you had to say, he was a little too overly enthusiastic.
It was kind of a surprise to see Teruhashi, the most popular girl in school, try and interact with Saiki. Though, it was a bit amusing since to him, she’s nothing more than walking muscle. However, you did think he would swoon over her like all the other guys in your school if she was like you. However, you knew Saiki had no interest in romance so you don’t care either way.
Finally, Nendou. You were originally going to say that you didn’t mind the guy that much and thought maybe he would be a good thing for Saiki. However, after just watching him take out one of the antennas from Saiki’s head, you started to wonder how much of a danger his stupidity is to Saiki.
You watched that pink haired friend of yours collapse to the ground with a hard thud as soon as Nendou pull the thing out of his head. You were quick to rush over to him and sit by his side. When you flipped him over, since he fell face forward, worry grew about your body and infected your bloodstream.
You heard protests about turning him over, but at this point all the worried voices drowned before they were even audible to you. His lips were parted as drool leaked from his mouth and went down his chin, his eyes dead and without life as darkness surrounded them. It didn’t take you long to recover and swipe the antenna Nendou was holding and pop it back in its rightful place in his pink locks.
You didn’t know how long it would take for him to wake up, or if he’d wake up at all. All you knew was to sit and wait for him to wake up. To your surprise, he woke up rather quickly. Maybe a mere minute or so after you fixed him up. When his eyes opened, you felt yourself suddenly get surrounded as Saiki’s friends crowed over him to ask how he was.
You noticed him using telepathy to talk to everyone when Hairo said, “You passed out after Nendou took that think out of your head, lucky for you, [Name] put it back right away!”
“Yeah, he saved your life!” Kaido spit out next, their hands placing on my shoulder out of respect and gratitude.
Saiki’s eye then direct to you, his voice never leaving his lips for a moment before you noticed him flinch.
‘Ah,’ you thought. ‘He tried to use telepathy with me again.’
When he noticed, Saiki just nodded in your direction. You knew he was thanking you, he didn’t need to word it out to you. The look in his eyes was enough.
Lunch came immediately after Saiki ended up waking up, and it was understatement to say he didn’t want to be bother with anyone else besides you. He was quick to drag you to the roof of the school to eat.
The both of you sat against the railing, lunch in your laps. You wanted I just forget about the scare that Saiki gave you, but the after effects he was having wasn’t making that easy. He was having trouble, and it was easy to see when his hands were shaking so much that he couldn’t even pick up his food without it falling back in the box.
You side eyed him, his expression one of concentration as he tried to pick up his food again. Though, he dropped it again.
He sighed quickly after that, only looking down at his food as you saw his mind wonder off.
Once you finished chewing whatever food you had in your mouth, you placed your food to the side and moved so that you weren’t side to side, but rather across from Saiki’s body now. He didn’t register your movements until he saw a hand come into his view and pick up an item of food with his chopsticks.
When he turned to you, you had the chopsticks in your dominant hand and your other under the food so it didn’t drop to the filthy ground.
“C’mon, lemme help,” you said. It was easy for Saiki to pick up the worry in your tone, however he knew not to address it or else you’ll just either deny it or baby him. “Open up.”
He obeyed your command after a moment, opening his mouth wide enough for you to place his food in his mouth. The hand that was meant to catch the food if it fell made sure Saiki closed his mouth, his fingers placed a bit of pressure under his chin to shut his jaws before slowly trailing away. The food wasn’t nearly as satisfying as the chill that ran down his spine at your lingering touch that crawled on his skin.
“I could hurt you.” He suddenly spit out. It was pained. “Having my antenna taken out messed up my powers.”
You leaned your head to the side, your eyes never falling from his. “Yeah, I kinda figured.”
“You should go.” He stated.
“Why?”
“I just told you.”
You smiled. “Saiki, you could never hurt me.”
He looked at you like you had something stuck in your teeth. “You don’t know that, I may not be able to read your mind, but I don’t know how my other powers react to you.”
You remained quiet for a moment before shuffling your body side by side again, your head falling to rest of Saiki’s shoulder. You felt him flinch at the contact, his muscles even began to tighten just out of fear.
“Yanno,” you started out saying, your hand coming up to play the antenna that you could reach. “It’s odd to me how these things are the only thing keeping you stable.”
“Is it?”
You chuckled and nodded. “Small things like these verses your powers. The thing that gets me is that these things actually win in that fight. Though, I suppose it does complete the look you have.”
“And what look is that?” Saiki asked as he gazed down at you to see your eyes already on him. He could feel his fingers twitch as he watched you say shamelessly, “The cute, mysterious loner type.”
Saiki’s lips parted as he gazed at you. He quickly recomposed himself when he noticed you waiting patiently for him to respond. He sighed before asking, “Mysterious loner? Where’d you get that?”
You laughed before sarcastically questioning, “yep, I wonder where.”
3. Your friends are my friends
You don’t know how you got wrapped into this, but perhaps it’ll allow you to know Saiki’s friends better.
Currently, you were walking with Kaido, Nendou, and Saiki to a good ramen shop Nendou suggested. You were dragged along when Nendou remembered you from the Sports Festival and as Saiki’s friend. They never really got the chance to speak to you since you’re usually out the door as soon as the bell rings, but today they finally caught you.
At some point Teruhashi joined the group, though you feel like she kinda took over since now the boys, except for Saiki and you, were fawning over her. Saiki and you took it upon yourselves to give them all room to talk to her, so you both sorts trailed behind.
It was silent for a while, the only noise was Nendou or Kaido talking to Teruhashi. However, you caught the, “what does that even mean,” that Saiki mumbled under his breath.
“Hm?” You hummed. “What does what mean?”
It was obvious to you he didn’t realize he said that aloud. But he just seemed to be glad that only you heard that.
“Teruhashi wants me to go ‘oh wow’ or something to her.” Saiki revealed. “I don’t even know what that means.”
You kept your gaze on Saiki for a moment. “So, she likes you?”
“I guess,” he muttered. “I think it’s more that I’m the only guy that isn’t kissing her feet.”
You watched Teruhashi interact with Nendou and Kaido. You know that, normally, she wouldn’t take time to hang out with these guys. However, because of her crush on Saiki, she bares with them. In all honesty, she seems a bit perfect. Being able to deal with them just for the person she adores. It’s easy for anyone to do, and not a lot of people would even bother.
“She seems like a good fit for you.” You suddenly uttered out.
When Saiki heard that, he felt his hands twitch. He didn’t like that, not one bit. What irked him the most was that it seemed natural, like you actually meant it. And, of course, he had no way of knowing if those words were genuine or actually forced.
“No way,” Saiki stated coldly. “Never in a million years.”
“Damn, that’s cold, Saiki.” He heard you say, a teasing tone wedged in your voice.
“Why do you keep calling me Saiki, anyway? We aren’t acquaintances.”
“Hm?” You questioned. “I thought you don’t like me calling you by your first name in public?”
Saiki sighed. “Well now I’m telling you I don’t care.”
Saiki knew this way of showing that you were closer to him than anyone would ever be may have been childish on his part, but when he heard his first name come from your lips in front of his other ‘friends’, he felt more than satisfied.
4. Friendship Can Bring Romance
Being able to rest during class was one of your guilty pleasures. Even if you got called out by your teacher, you didn’t mind. It was better when it was raining outside, the patter of rain when it hit the window made you want to nap.
“Hey,” a voice called out to you. You didn’t listen though, it wasn’t important.
“Hey, [Name],” it called out again. Okay, maybe you should wake up. Then again, sleep. You could always sleep later though.
You fluttered your eyes open as you felt your body being pushed around. When your sight became focused, the blurry figure in front of you showed a blue hair kid. You knew him, but from where?
“Saiki asked me to wake you up, sorry,” he confessed.
Oh, right. That’s Kaido, Saiki’s friend.
“Hm? Where is Kusuo?” You asked in a groggy voice, your hand coming up to wipe your eyes.
“Oh, he went home.” Kaido informed you. “Something just came up, I guess.”
“Alright,” you hummed before the end of your lips pulled upward. “Thank you, Kaido.”
It wasn’t easy for Kaido to wake up the quiet kid. Kaido only met the guy once or twice, and when he was hanging with him, you only stayed close to Saiki. It was kinda odd, but Kaido understood your attachment to the pink haired man. Saiki was Kaido’s first friend, after all, so he knew how awesome the guy was.
Though, he’s never got the chance to speak to you. He knows Saiki never really goes anywhere with you, and somehow you always end up by his side. He just always seemed to miss you when it came to getting the chance to introduce himself so Kaido was pretty glad when you came along the trip to that ramen place, even if it was a dumb and he got distracted by Teruhashi.
Kaido knew you were the closest person to Saiki. He’s pretty sure that not even Nendou is as close to Saiki as you are. And those two are best friends. Kaido didn’t know the extend of how long you two have been friends, but he does know from watching that Saiki has respect for you. So, it was critical that he makes a great impression with you so that he can become closer to Saiki and maybe you as well.
“S-Sure, no problem!” He stuttered, his bandaged hand retracting from your shoulder and holding them up in the air in a surrendered notion.
“Do you live around here at all? I’ll walk you home as a thank you.” You said as you stood from your seat and began to search for your bag.
“What? You don’t have to do that, really, it isn’t necessary!” Kaido spit out quickly, his words jumping all over the place.
“It’s really no trouble at all,” you stated as you put your bag over your shoulder. “C’mon, let’s get going before the rain gets worse.”
The rain eventually stopped when both teens got closer to your house. Kaido’s was further ahead, so he thought it would be better if he just walked you home instead so you didn’t have to walk more than you have to already.
“So, you’ve been friends with Saiki since he was little, huh?” Kaido asked as you explained why Saiki trusts you so much. “That’s pretty awesome! What was he like back then?”
“Pretty much the same.” You answered. “Though he did get more handsome throughout the years, and he used to be kinda sweet. Now, not so much.”
“I see, so you guys have been through it all together.” Kaido replied.
“Basically, though, he did start to worry me a bit since I was his only friend for a really long time,” you confessed. You paused as you looked up at Kaido and gave him a smile, “But I’m glad he finally made a friend like you.”
Kaido could feel his heart beat a million miles an hour just at the words you strung together. He never heard kinder words than those, and he was even more thrilled that he succeeded in making a good impression on Saiki’s childhood friend!
“It’s, uh, n-no problem, really!” Kaido muttered out as his whole face began to fluster, his hands going everywhere.
“Oh,” you hummed out.
“Hm?” Kaido questioned. His nerves going down. “What is it?”
“Did you know you were dragging your scarf the whole time?” You asked curiosity as your hands started to real in the extra fabric.
“What?” He asked out of pure shock. Though, realizing that he doesn’t make a fool out of himself he said, “O-Of course I did! It’s a fashion choice.”
“Not the best one,” you stated as you stepped closer to the blue haired male.
Kaido’s eyes widened as he stated directly into your colored orbs, watching them dance solely for him. It was like getting attention from a loved one, but this attention make him nervous to the point where he thought his face was going to explode with red. Kaido’s lips slowly started to disappear as the scarf started to build up around his shoulders and neck.
“There you go,” you said, “much better. Now your scarf doesn’t get more dirty and you look even better.”
‘Even better? What’s that supposed to mean? Does it.. does it mean he thought I looked good before?!’ Kaido thought.
Kaido let out an awkward laugh as he played with the end of the scarf. “O-Oh, haha, thank you.”
“Sure,” you hummed. “Now let’s get going.”
5. Blessing Turned On Jealousy
What’s that saying, the enemy of my enemy is my friend? Yeah, that’s it. See, that could apply to this yet at the same time it would go a little different.
More like, the enemy of my best friend is my friend. At least for your situation. You see, walking home with Saiki has now turned into walking home with Saiki, Nendou, and Kaido. Not that you mind, but sometimes you really do wish it was back to when Saiki and you got to spend time alone together. However, being friends with Saiki and then having his friends automatically become your friends may have some perks.
Like now. Bumping into Kaido’s mom was totally accidental. But, in the end it payed off. Why?
Because coffee jelly.
“I know it’s not easy being friends with my son because he’s so shy, but please be patient.” Kaido’s mom announced as she placed the coffee jelly down in front of Saiki and you.
“Please don’t say that mama—I mean—mother.” Kaido pleased, his voice cracking as it got higher with embarrassment.
Overall, the beginning was a very nice. Hell, it was damn near perfect. Although, you just had to snoop around. Well, it was more like exploring Kaido’s room.
Your fingertips brushed along the spines of the many books Kaido had stacked up in his bookcase. It was seriously amazing how many books he had, he even had some original copies of some famous old books.
“This is pretty awesome,” you muttered to yourself before your eyes spotted something that didn’t quite match with the others. In all honesty, you were simply curious. However, curiosity did kill the cat. In your case, more like awakened the Saiki K.
“Hey, Kaido, what is the Jet Black Wings?” You asked aloud as the group sat down eating whatever snacks were about. You would always hear either chewing or at least some conversation, but after that question left your mouth it was dead silent. You felt like you killed something, but when you looked over you noticed Kaido’s face beat red. Seriously, his entire face was as red as a blood moon.
“P-Put that back!” He stuttered out, the blue haired boy suddenly running up to you to snatch the book from your hand.
As he reached for it, you held it higher. Even if he was about the same height or maybe a inch or so taller, you just needed to make him miss his hand from grabbing it.
“Don’t be embarrassed, I’m just curious.” You calmly said. “Is it bad or something?”
“N-No! It’s nothing, uh, bad! Just give me it back!” Kaido begged this time around, his hands trying desperately to grab it from you. Okay, maybe you were being a little mean at this point, but it was kinda fun to tease him.
You began to back up as Kaido trying to nab the book in your hand. “Just explain it!”
“No! Never!” He shouted.
You couldn’t help but laugh a little, though, that was your fatal mistake. Having yourself distracted by your own humor, your mind didn’t take into account the pile of prep books scattered about until it was too late. You quickly lost your voice, as well as your balance before slamming your head hard against the wood floors.
“Woah! You guys okay?” Nendou asked out of genuine concern.
As much as you would have liked to answer him, you were too concerned with the pain pounding into your skull like a jackhammer. Seriously, this is gonna give you one massive headache.
You scrunched your nose as your finally gave effort to open your eyes, though, they permanently remained open when you noticed a face staring down at you, a body on top of yours. You guessed that during the fall Kaido tried to save you, but only got dragged along instead.
“H-Hey, um, are you okay?” He asked under his shaky breath.
You only nodded before trying to avoid his gaze in any possible way. The position you were in didn’t help whatsoever in that department. Instead, you hoped that Kaido would take the hint and get off. That plan wasn’t looking too good cause all that was running through his mind was how you looked under him. Let’s say, the thoughts he had left a distaste in Saiki’s mouth.
Originally, he was just gonna let you handle it, but after hearing Kaido’s perverted thoughts about you, that plan blew up.
Saiki stood up, leaving his coffee jelly half eaten before grabbing Kaido by the back of his shirt and yanking him off of you. Saiki gave some strength into that but not enough to launch him into the bookshelf like he wanted too. He knelt down to come to your level and help you up, your massive headache being noticeable when you held onto the back of your head.
“Damnit, that really hurt,” you muttered to yourself but Saiki heard it clear as day.
It wasn’t long after that he took you home as well as the left over coffee jelly. Saiki advised you to stay home a day just to let the pain die down a bit before going back to school, so, the pink haired boy was all alone today. And all alone to everyone else meant to bother him more than usual.
Teruhashi, Nendou, Hairo. All of them. Though, it was a bit weird that Kaido wasn’t bothering with him today. Not that he was complaining, but he couldn’t pinpoint the answer until he heard Kaido’s thoughts, ‘I need to ask Saiki for permission. They’re best friends, it would be rude if I didn’t ask permission to ask out [Name].’
Never mind. He didn’t need to know that.
It was around lunch time that Kaido walked up to Saiki for the first one, the blush that littered his cheeks made Saiki want to gag for a moment.
“So, uh, Saiki, I have to ask you something.” Kaido uttered out lowly. Clearly, this was nerve wracking for him.
“What is it?” Saiki asked telepathically.
“Well, it’s about [Name], yanno, our [Name]?”
‘What other person has that name?’ Saiki thought. ‘And don’t say our, it’s creepy.’
“You see, I, well, I think I like him and I’d like your blessing to ask him out!” Kaido shouted, his body bowing at an almost 90 degree angle.
Normally, Saiki would just say to do whatever since he could read [Name]’s thoughts and see that he doesn’t like Kaido in that way. However, the one person in the world that Saiki actually wants is immune to his powers. He knew he needed to shut this down fast.
‘No way.’ Saiki responded.
“Thank you so much, Saiki, you won’t—wait—why not?” Kaido asked aloud, his voice getting higher the more he freaked out. He thought this would be easy, he means, it was Saiki. The most chill guy ever actually gave him a hard ‘no’ to asking out his best friend. Kaido shouldn’t be surprised, even though he is.
‘Because I said so,’ Saiki strictly put. He knew it was wrong to say this, who was he to say no to something that isn’t his business. Though, the feeling of relief that he still had a chance was more satisfying in the end.
By the time Saiki got to your house it was basically as soon as school ended. He used teleportation to get here as fast as he could, as well as just appear in your room. He wasn’t expecting you to still be asleep, though, he supposed this wasn’t too bad.
The pink haired male carefully walking up to the bedside of his best friend. It was odd to see your hair going in one direction instead of all over the place like normal, and don’t even get him started on the soft snores that came from your nose. Snoring isn’t usually the most attractive thing in the world, but this light snores from you made him think of the habit as cute.
Now, he would normally wake you up. But, just allowing himself to look at you for a moment longer without any consequences never hurt anybody. Saiki sat himself down on your floor, his eyes keeping to your closed ones as they slowly began to travel down to your lips. He doesn’t know what came over him, but it seriously began to freak him out when he started think about Kaido touching his lips with yours. After the freak out, jealousy was spiraling around in the psychic. He never knew that Kaido, of all people, would actually develop romantic feelings for you. If he did, he would have never allowed the both of you to interact the way you did at his house the other day.
Saiki let out a sigh before standing up once more, his hand came up to your shoulder slowly and began to shake it. It wasn’t long after that your eyes fluttered open and gave him that soft smile that caused his heart to skip a beat.
6. School Trip
The school trip was always the most looked forward to activity in high school. This year it was a three day trip to Okinawa. While you were excited to spend some time at a gorgeous place like Okinawa, Saiki was definitely less excited.
As kids talked with their friends in a group or just at their desks, you were currently sitting on top of Saiki’s desk with the pink haired boy sitting in the chair. This wasn’t something you always do, especially since at times Saiki has pushed you off out of retaliation, but after a moment or two of still being there, you knew he didn’t mind today.
“You excited?” You asked him.
“No. I don’t get the appeal.” He spit out, his eyes closing as he moved his head down. “I could get to Okinawa in three minutes.”
“Kusuo, not everyone is like you.” You explained. “So don’t go getting moody on this trip, I’m not letting you ruin it for me.”
“I won’t, I’m just saying a fact.” He replied.
You were about to continue with things you’re excited to do during the trip before Hairo came around to the both of you with a clip board in hand. He was responsible for dividing rooms.
“Saiki, [Name], did you guys decide on your group for the class trip?” He asked politely. “You should have three boys and three girls in your group.”
Saiki didn’t say anything, instead he just rested his head against your forearm. Perhaps he wanted Hairo to think he fell asleep and leave it to you, or maybe he was actually saying that he didn’t care as long as he was with you. Either way, you smiled at the contact and said to Hairo, “Kusuo and I will be rooming, it doesn’t matter who else is in our group.”
“Okay, great!” Hairo exclaimed as he wrote it down. “Kaido and Nendou are still available so I’ll just place Kaido with your group, and then randomly place you guys with a girls group.”
“Thanks, Hairo,” you hummed out as he walked away to probably inform Kaido about the rooming.
You never minded contact with Saiki, in fact, you sort of enjoyed it. However, seeing him still like this, even with Hario now gone, you worried.
“Hey, Kusuo,” you called out.
No answer.
“Kusuo?” You asked this time. And when he didn’t answer again you unconsciously moved your hand up to his head and moved it back to where you could look him in the eyes. Saiki’s face was still without expression, though, those eyes worried you. He seemed, almost, upset.
“Kusuo?” You asked. “What’s wrong?”
He shook his head, signaling that nothing was wrong. You knew he was lying.
You tilted your head, some of your hair moving with gravity to expose part of your forehead. “Why are you lying to me?”
“I’m not.” He said, his voice was steady and yet, that look in his eyes still bothered you.
You knew he wasn’t going to budge but still, just because you’re going to let it go now doesn’t mean that you weren’t about to keep an eye on him.
Throughout the beginning and the first day of the trip, you kept an eye on Saiki. He seemed way more tired than usual, but that didn’t startle you. Instead, it was how he was by your side more often now when Kaido was around. You weren’t an idiot, it was pretty obvious. You didn’t mind Saiki’s attention, but you didn’t want him to think just because you were friends with Kaido that he’d be put second.
“Kusuo, can we talk?” You asked him as the two of you had the room to yourselves. The others were out and about, but the two of you decided on an early night.
“About what?” He asked as he set up his sleeping area.
“Today.” You started out. “You’ve been acting weird around Kaido. Did something happen?”
You watched Saiki carefully, so carefully that you noticed his fingers lightly curl around the blanket. You didn’t want to push him, so instead of pushing him to speak, you allowed yourself to be silent and let him take his time. You don’t remember how many minutes pasted, but you swear it felt like decades.
“Nothing happened.” He informed you. “His thoughts just aren’t for my taste at the moment.”
“His thoughts?” You questioned as you slowly approached Saiki on his blanket until you were right in front of him. “Okay, then, what’s got you all bothered? Let me guess, he’s thinking dirty things, right?”
“Sort of.” He replied.
“I bet it’s about Teruhashi,” you theorized. “Is that why you don’t like it?”
“No, it’s not about Teruhashi.”
“Really? Then who?”
Saiki went quiet once more.
You sighed. Your head moving down to get a glimpse at his face. It wasn’t until you moved your hand over by his, your finger tips brushing with his accidentally to get more stability as you leaned in did you hear him finally confess.
“It was about you.”
To say that you needed a minute to take that in was an understatement. Kaido was a good guy and all, but it was kinda startling to realize he liked guys, as well as girls, since you didn’t suspect that even for a minute with him.
“Seriously?” You asked once more.
Saiki nodded. “He asked me if he could ask you out.”
“And what did you say?”
“No.”
You couldn’t help a smile crawl upon your face with that one. You knew it was a bit hard to read Saiki, especially when it came to you, but you were just beyond happy to hear that.
“Good,” you suddenly shot out. Saiki’s head moving back up in an instant to see your happy features. “I don’t like Kaido like that anyway, saves me from breaking his heart.”
“You don’t?”
“Nope.” You hummed out. You knew this may backfire on you in more ways than one, but right now, you didn’t care. The happiness you felt told you to take a chance and throw out the bait. “I know you can’t read my mind, but I actually do have someone I like.”
Saiki aimlessly stared at you for a moment and took in the words you confessed to him. It was an odd feeling, the rapid beating of his heart, but perhaps this was finally the start of things going his way for once.
On the second day of the trip, everyone went to Emerald Beach. It was one of the many places were people could stare at others and no one would think anything of it. A perverts dream. Though, for Saiki, he just wanted to hang out with you.
“Where’s [Name]?” Kaido asked Nendou as Saiki stood behind the two.
“He said he had to go buy a swimsuit. The one he brought apparently went missing.” Nendou told the blue haired boy.
Now, that want a mistake. Sure, it may have been a dirty trick but Saiki rather die than see you in the swimsuit you brought. After all, you bought a shirt with it. He knew you didn’t take off your shirt often, even at the beach, but he was determined to see you with just a pair of shorts.
Much like how all the guys that crowded around the girls changing house waited patiently to see Teruhashi in a two piece swim suit.
It was a while after Teruhashi came out, and when everyone was in the water that you made your appearance. You had your hands wedged into your swim shirt pockets as you allowed your feet to take in the hot sand that felt magical between your toes. You gazed around for a moment before noticing pink hair sitting under an umbrella.
A devilish smirk crawled on your features as you began to slowly approach the male. This may give Saiki a heart attack, but it was worth it. As you stood over him from behind, you attacked. Your body shot down as your arms wrapped aruund his neck and pushed your chest into his bare back.
“Hey, what’s a cute guy like you doing all alone at a place like this?” You teased, allowing your voice to go on for some time so that he realized it was just you.
Saiki immediately flinched at the contact before noticing it was just you. However, when he noticed the touch of your skin against his, he could feel his entire body heat up. The sensation was new, he’s felt his face go hot before, but his entire body was a new one.
“What took you so long?” Saiki tried to play off.
You just sighed and got a tighter grip on the male, your chest pushing more into his back. “Someone stole my swimsuit. Sadly, I didn’t have enough money to replace the whole thing, so I had to go by some swim shorts.”
“Hm, as least you’re here.” Saiki stated, making sure not to comment on the ‘stolen swimsuit’.
“Yeah,” you uttered as you released Saiki from your grasp and sat down next to him. You gazed out at the beautiful ocean that was filled with laughing people with this loving look in your eyes, all the while not realizing Saiki’s held that same gaze as he stared at you.
When you did turn to him, he completely lost himself in his mind as his eyes wondered about your figure. You weren’t the most fit guy in the world, but you did have these subtle yet enchanting muscle lines along your upper body that made Saiki lose himself.
“I saw that.” You suddenly said. Saiki’s eyes now darting back to yours. “You just checked me out.”
Saiki saw no way out of this one. So, he just confessed it. “So what if I was?”
In all honesty, he just expected you to laugh and tell him that it’s only fair if he does the same. However, the twist was unexpected and, well, definitely appreciated. He watched as you gazed down, this bashful look in your eyes as you did everything to avoid his gaze. Your body language wasn’t helping either. Your fingers were tapping against the towel and the heel of your foot was moving back and forth.
Maybe this trip wasn’t totally for nothing.
7. All That Was A Secret
Spring break. It was one of those weeks that Saiki went to go visit his grandparents all the way in the middle fo nowhere. So, for the most of this break, you were home alone.
It was kind of boring. This break was definitely not one that you looked forward to, more now then before, especially after the beach during the class trip. Those words always ended up repeating in your mind, way too much then you thought they would. Then again, you shouldn’t be surprised. All those days that you’d try to subtly touch him, tease him, it was just a way to relieve yourself of the pent up emotions you’ve had for him for a few years now.
Currently, you were in your room upon your bed, hugging one of your pillows close to your chest. You never tried to dwell on if Saiki felt the same or not, but recently, it’s been clawing at you more and more. It wasn’t like you didn’t think you had a chance, but more if Saiki was more comfortable just staying friends. You would understand, even if it would hurt, you’d do it for him. You’d do anything for that guy.
You sighed before slowly lifting your body off the bed. Today wasn’t a good day for being sad, it was summer break, after all. You knew you had to get your mind off Saiki, and him being away made it a bit easier. So, you grabbed some clothes from your closet and laid them on the bed. You weren’t sure what you were going to do, but you were determined to fine something to take your mind off him.
You let your pants drop to the ground before taking the ones on your bed and letting your legs slip through each of the pant legs. Next, you stripped your shirt off and took in a deep breath. You paused for a moment before dropping the dirty shirt on the ground and grabbing the new one. In all honestly, you never really pay attention to your surroundings when changing. But, does anyone? It wasn’t until your head went through the hole on the top of the shirt did you realize that the bed in front of you was now missing and the wall you were staring at was not the wall of your bed room. When you turned your head, you locked eyes with Saiki in an unfamiliar room.
“Huh?” You uttered under your breath before your eyes widened, your face felling hotter than usual before frantically pulling your shirt all the way down. Once down, you opened your mouth and said, “You can’t do that without me knowing! What if I was in the middle of a shower or something and not just changing?”
“I would have given you some of my clothes.” He replied nonchalantly.
You bit the inside of your cheek before crossing your arms over your chest. “Why did you teleport me anyway?”
“I can’t stand it here.” Saiki confessed. Of course, you knew he didn’t exactly enjoying visiting his grandparents but he has never done this before. “Just hang out with me. I’ll send you back after.”
You sighed. You can’t exactly say no after that, so, with that Saiki and you began to watch a movie. It wasn’t one you two watched before so it was easy to get lost in it. Though, it was also easy to focus on Saiki when he suddenly placed his hand on top of yours as you guys watched. You weren’t too sure if he thought you wouldn’t notice, but there was no way you were going to pull away. After all, it’s not like he placed his fingers between yours, if he did that, you don’t know if you could handle it.
After a half an hour into the movie you finally got the plot of it, and you weren’t amused at all. It was a best friends to lovers troupe. More specifically, childhood friends that drifted apart only to be brought back together by work and now slowly are developing feelings for one another. Let’s just say now, you were a little more than nervous.
Thank god Saiki couldn’t read your mind, because now, you feel like you’d give him a headache. You couldn’t help but ask yourself if he knows and is only doing this to taunt you, or maybe this was all just a big coincident. Yeah, one massive coincident. In reality though, Saiki was just teasing you. He had no idea of your feelings but he wanted to watch the movie with you to implant the idea in his mind of the possibility.
Well, his plan was working. Maybe a little too much. Though, as you were about to spit something out, your eyes suddenly shot down to the floor in embarrassment. Yep, a make out scene. Of course, Saiki had no idea about that, but it was better than just the sappy stuff cause now it was really ingrained in your head.
Once it was over and you had somewhat of your cool back you couldn’t help it. You needed to ask. If it blew up in flames, then so be it.
“Hey, Saiki,” you uttered out lowly. Saiki caught it immediately and turned his gaze on you. “I have a.. question.”
“What?” He asked.
“Well,” your voice trailed off as you moved your eyes down to where both of your hands connected. “We’ve been best friends for a long time now but, have you ever, um, thought about doing...that?
Saiki remained quiet for a moment, his thoughts going everywhere before thinking to himself, ‘All the time, actually.’
As much as he wish he could have said that telepathically, he could never try to say that vocally. So, he just opted for a nod and watched your body flinch. The hand he touched growing warm.
“You’re hot.” Saiki suddenly spit out. This time, you brought your hand back to your body so he couldn’t tell anymore.
“S-So what?” You stuttered out.
To say that Saiki didn’t like this side of you was an understatement. He’s never never seen you so flustered before, and it was really adorable to look at.
“It’s cute.” Saiki commented, his body leaning in just to see your face closer.
You turned your head to the side, eyes darting to the tv just to look away for a moment to compose yourself. You knew that there wasn’t gonna be another perfect moment like this so, you slowly reached over to place your hand on the back of Saiki’s neck. It was warm. When he noticed what you wanted as you started to lean back and gently pull him with you, he complied quickly until he gazed at you from above. Suddenly, he was jealous at the fact that Kaido got to see this view before him.
He stared at you for a moment before watching you bite down on your bottom lip, his mind doing backflips at the want to read your mind, but also at how good you looked under him.
“Kiss me.” You whispered under your breath, just loud enough for him to hear.
“If I do,” Saiki uttered lowly. “I might not be able to stop.”
“That’s okay.”

Defiance
Jiang Cheng lets out a sigh before he rings on his sister’s door. He doesn’t come to siblings brunch often anymore, not since he distanced himself from his family and therefore his siblings, but every now and then Jiang Yanli calls to invite him and despite the progress he made, he still can’t say no to her.
Still, he already feels tired and that feeling only increases when Wei Wuxian yanks the door open.
“You’re late,” he accuses him immediately and then looks around. “And you’re alone.”
“No, I’m not, and yes, I am,” Jiang Cheng says and moves past Wei Wuxian into the apartment.
“A-Cheng,” Jiang Yanli warmly greets him, but she too furrows her brow when she notices that he’s alone. “You didn’t bring your boyfriend?”
“I already told you that Mingjue is busy on Saturdays and won’t be able to come,” Jiang Cheng tells her, already feeling a headache coming on.
“Jiang Cheng,” Wei Wuxian says and Jiang Cheng braces himself for what he’s going to say next.
It’s always the same when it comes to Nie Mingjue and Jiang Cheng is honestly over it by now.
“What?” he snaps and Jiang Yanli looks sadly at him.
“When will you finally tell us the truth?” she asks Jiang Cheng who clenches his teeth.
“About what?” he asks, even though he damn well knows what she’s talking about.
“About who you’re dating,” Wei Wuxian chimes in and Jiang Cheng pinches the bridge of his nose.
“I am telling the truth about that.”
“I get that you wanted some privacy, especially in the early days, but you haven’t been to see mother and father in over a year now and you’ve been dating for what? Over that amount of time?”
“Two years now,” Jiang Cheng tells them, which they should damn well know but he guesses relationship milestones only count for people who are not him in this family.
“Two years. And you still haven’t told us who you are dating.”
“But I have,” Jiang Cheng sighs out. “I have and I tell you over and over again. I’m dating Nie Mingjue.”
“Please, A-Cheng,” Jiang Yanli almost begs him. “When will you finally open up to us? We’re not going to judge you, no matter who you are dating.”
“Except if it’s Mingjue,” Jiang Cheng gives back, trying to swallow down the bitterness rising in him and instead clinging to the defiance that for once makes him strong. “Because that, somehow, is unbelievable to you.”
“Because it’s Nie Mingjue,” Wei Wuxian almost yells out. “You really think we’d believe that? The guy saw you break down on his couch more than once, you really think he looked at you and thought “I want to date that”? You should come up with another lie, one that’s more believable than this.”
“Maybe he saw someone worth dating, you know,” Jiang Cheng says through clenched teeth but Wei Wuxian only laughs.
“Sure. Let’s be real here, you’re nothing but another didi to him, there’s no way in hell that he’s dating you.”
“A-Cheng, he’s not wrong,” Jiang Yanli chimes in now. “And I mean we haven’t seen you together even once in all these years. So can you really fault us for not believing you?”
“You saw us together already,” Jiang Cheng tells her, but he already knows that it’s futile. They are not going to believe him, no matter what he says.
“Standing two feet apart!”
“Just because we don’t cling to each other like you and Lan Wangji do doesn’t mean that we aren’t together,” he hotly gives back. “I’m uncomfortable with demonstrative touch, you damn well now that!”
“I just really wish you would tell us the truth one of these days,” Jiang Yanli sadly says and that’s it.
Jiang Cheng has had enough.
“I could probably hit you in the face with it and you wouldn’t believe me. I’ll be leaving now, I don’t want to be here,” he tells them and turns around on his heels.
“Don’t forget there’s the company thing next week. You’re not allowed to come alone!” Wei Wuxian calls after him instead of even trying to stop him and Jiang Cheng rolls his eyes, even though they can’t see it anymore.
“I will be bringing Mingjue, no worries,” he calls over his shoulder but he doesn’t wait for a response and simply closes the door behind him.
Once there’s a barrier between him and his siblings, Jiang Cheng takes a deep breath. In moments like this he’s reminded just why he distanced himself from his family and he is happy with his decision all over again.
He really couldn’t do this every week—or gods forbid, every day—and even these scarce few times he gets invited are grating on him. Jiang Cheng shakes his head and starts walking back home.
At least like this he can clear his head a little bit and by the time he opens the door to his and Nie Mingjue’s apartment he feels a lot calmer already.
“You’re back early,” Nie Mingjue greets him with and sticks his head around the corner. “Bad brunch?”
“No brunch at all,” Jiang Cheng replies and walks up to him for a kiss that Nie Mingjue very willingly bestows upon him.
“That doesn’t sound too good,” Nie Mingjue says once they part and he strokes Jiang Cheng’s arm. “Wanna talk about it while I make some food for you?”
“There’s not much to talk about but I’ll take food,” Jiang Cheng decides and quickly leans in for a hug before his grumbling stomach makes Nie Mingjue laugh.
“Food it is,” he decides and pushes Jiang Cheng towards the kitchen. “What happened though?”
“The usual,” Jiang Cheng gives back with a sigh as he sinks down onto a chair. “They don’t believe that we are dating.”
“It’s been two years. We live together. What’s there not to believe?”
“I’m honestly not sure,” Jiang Cheng mutters. “But apparently it’s unbelievable that you would ever date me, seeing as you saw me break down on your couch and think of me as a didi,” Jiang Cheng repeats what his siblings said and Nie Mingjue turns around to him.
“Yeah, right, because you trusting me with your troubles and feelings really turned me off you,” he sarcastically says and Jiang Cheng snorts.
“I’m just relaying my siblings’ opinions,” he says and smiles at Nie Mingjue. “I know you love me.”
“That I do,” Nie Mingjue says and drops a kiss to Jiang Cheng’s head before he gets back to making him something to eat.
“It doesn’t matter anyway,” Jiang Cheng tells him. “You’re going to be there next week and then they’ll see.”
“True,” Nie Mingjue agrees. “And I will tell them exactly what I think of their disbelieve over us dating,” he promises Jiang Cheng and Jiang Cheng already knows that it’s going to be an absolute disaster but he’s looking forward to it.
Because Nie Mingjue will be at his side and that’s all that matters.
~*~*~
The party is in full Jiang style, which means it’s huge and lavish and absolutely boring as fuck.
Jiang Cheng promises himself he’s only going to stay for as long as is mandatory and then he’s out of here. He can’t imagine that Nie Mingjue will be too mad about it either, if they leave as soon as possible.
But when he’s about to turn towards him and tell him, Jiang Cheng sees his siblings walking up to them.
“Here goes nothing,” Jiang Cheng mutters and briefly leans into Nie Mingjue’s side.
Nie Mingjue hums in acknowledgement and Jiang Cheng knows that he wants to reach for his hand, to make this more demonstrative, but he reigns himself in and for that Jiang Cheng is thankful.
He really is not a fan of any kind of public and demonstrative touch and he’s very grateful that Nie Mingjue honours that.
“Let me talk,” Nie Mingjue says right before Jiang Yanli and Wei Wuxian come into hearing distance and Jiang Cheng gives a short nod.
He’s curious to see how his siblings are going to brush off Nie Mingjue.
“So you really did it,” Wei Wuxian says and Jiang Cheng wonders when they even stopped greeting each other like normal people.
“Did what?” Nie Mingjue wants to know, raising his eyebrow in a clear challenge.
“Mingjue, it’s nice to accompany him, but you shouldn’t let him talk you into things just so that he can keep up his lie,” Jiang Yanli says with her horribly kind and understanding voice and Jiang Cheng grinds his teeth together.
“There is no lie to keep up,” Nie Mingjue calmly tells them, but Jiang Cheng can see the tension in his shoulders.
“Is he paying you for this?” Wei Wuxian suddenly lights up. “That would make sense.”
“It doesn’t make sense at all,” Nie Mingjue shakes his head. “I am here because I’m his boyfriend and Wanyin invited me to come.”
“Oh please,” Wei Wuxian scoffs. “You don’t have to lie to us, we know the truth.”
“And what truth would that be?” Nie Mingjue demands to know and Jiang Cheng sighs.
Here it comes.
“We all know that you wouldn’t date him. It’s okay to tell us the truth, we promise we won’t tell someone else,” Jiang Yanli says, clearly trying for kind, but it makes a shudder run down Jiang Cheng’s back.
“And why wouldn’t I date him?” Nie Mingjue challenges them.
“You’re way too good for him, and he’s all kinds of—” Wei Wuxian trails off, apparently finally realizing what he’s about to say, but Jiang Cheng is absolutely over this.
“Messed up?” he wants to know and Wei Wuxian winces.
“Well, lucky for me then that I don’t think the same,” Nie Mingjue snaps. “There’s nothing wrong with Wanyin and there’s especially nothing wrong with us dating.”
“But you’re Nie Mingjue!” Wei Wuxian exclaims as if that would explain how impossible it is for them to date. “There’s no way you would think he’s worth dating.”
“Wei Wuxian, full offense but if there’s a pair that’s unlikely to date, it’s you and Wangji.”
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?” Wei Wuxian yells out and even Jiang Yanli’s hand on his arm does nothing to calm him down.
“It’s supposed to mean that you are so far out of Wangji’s league that it’s not even funny, yet no one doubts your relationship.”
“A-Ying is not out of anyone’s league,” Jiang Yanli chimes in and Jiang Cheng refuses to let that sting.
“But I am?” he still can’t help but to ask and Jiang Yanli winces.
“We all know that Wangji is a prodigy and the apple of Lan Qiren’s eye. Let’s be real here, if there has ever been an unlikely pair then it’s you two and yet we all believed you when you said you were dating,” Nie Mingjue snaps, clearly at the end of his patience.
“Because we love each other. What’s there not to believe?”
“I don’t know,” Nie Mingjue coldly gives back. “Wanyin and I are in love, too. What’s there not to believe?”
“A lot,” Jiang Yanli mutters under her breath and she doesn’t even seem sorry about it and Jiang Cheng really has had enough of this now.
“Just because we are not as frivolous as Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji? Well, don’t expect to be invited to the wedding then, if you can’t even believe either of us,” he snaps and then takes Nie Mingjue’s arm and drags him away.
They leave the party much earlier than they are technically allowed to but Jiang Cheng couldn’t care less at the moment. He’s not going to spend a single second longer in their company.
When they are back on the streets, he lets go of Nie Mingjue, who immediately reaches for his hand.
“A wedding, huh?” he asks lowly and Jiang Cheng sighs before he turns towards him.
“Listen, this is not how I wanted to do this,” Jiang Cheng starts and reaches for the ring he always carries with him these days.
“Do what?” Nie Mingjue whispers, but Jiang Cheng already spots the sheen of tears in his eyes.
“Nie Mingjue, you are my soul and I love you,” Jiang Cheng tells him solemnly but he decides against going down on one knee.
It would draw too much attention to them and he knows that Nie Mingjue hates being seen when he cries.
“Will you marry me?” Jiang Cheng simply asks and holds out the ring towards Nie Mingjue.
Nie Mingjue blinks fast, a few tears falling down and Jiang Cheng smiles as he reaches up to brush his thumb under Nie Mingjue’s eye.
“Yes,” Nie Mingjue rasps out, holding out his hand immediately and Jiang Cheng doesn’t hesitate to slip the ring on his finger, and he presses a kiss to it for good measure too.
“Then you have made me the happiest man of the world,” Jiang Cheng confesses and smiles brightly at Nie Mingjue.
“Impossible. I’m the happiest man in the world,” Nie Mingjue gives right back and pulls Jiang Cheng in for a kiss.
It turns into two, three before they remember that they are still out in public but even then they are both slow and reluctant to pull away.
“But my siblings are not allowed at the wedding,” Jiang Cheng says once they really part and Nie Mingjue snorts.
“After that display, surely not,” he agrees. “Huaisang will make up for it, though.”
“True,” Jiang Cheng laughs because these days, Nie Huaisang is more like a brother to him than Wei Wuxian ever was.
“We should tell him about this,” Nie Mingjue says with a look down at his ring and Jiang Cheng can see the happiness on his face.
“No. We should go home and celebrate,” Jiang Cheng says with a suggestive little eyebrow waggle and it makes Nie Mingjue laugh out loud.
“That sounds like a good idea,” he agrees and pulls Jiang Cheng in for a quick kiss before he threads their fingers together.
“Let’s go home.”

okay if any of you make a comment about me projecting in this i will beat you to death w/ a chair. enjoy 😊;
• tommy hasn’t ever been the most gifted child. in comparison to wilbur, he’s always been sort of a fucken mess. it’s always been hard for him to excel in certain things; somehow, he’d always end up messing up because he was ungraceful with the way he went about these tasks, or he simply wasn’t thinking. wilburs always been on the end of phil’s attention— he’s always been on the end of phil’s praises, of phil’s compliments, and tommy has always been given a halfhearted head pat whenever he presented something he did that was lackluster in comparison.
• he’s also always gotten into fights with other people? he’s always had a short temper, his entire life and that’s led to him getting into a lot of trouble w people he wouldn’t want to get in trouble w? phil’s always had to get him out of these situations, & every time he’s gotten out of trouble he’s always been punished, regardless if he started the fight or not. phil’s always viewed him as a sort of problem child.
• phil always used to complain about him to wilbur. he didn’t ever think tommy could hear, but every time he’d complain about him tommy would be listening; he’d either be sitting on the staircase as phil complained about him to wilbur in the kitchen, or he’d be listening from his room, or he’d be right outside the door to wilbur’s room; no matter what he’d always hear phil complain about what a hassle it was to parent such a “problem child” like him
• phil has regularly forgotten tommys birthday. after techno started living with them he had yet another kid to pay attention to instead of tommy. throughout multiple birthday’s tommys spent alone, making his own birthday cake and getting his own presidents; which were just stuff he’d gotten from his closet and forced himself to act surprised upon seeing. every time tommy tried to tell phil it was his birthday he’d always be busy. he wouldn’t ever have time for it. phil still doesn’t know when his birthday is
• phil would always compare him to techno. tommy doesn’t know if he meant to do it, but every time tommy would make a mistake phil would always say something like; “techno would never do this” or “why can’t you be more like techno? he’s so well behaved” or “maybe techno should start teaching you since you clearly don’t know how to behave” every time phil would brush it off like it was nothing afterwards but it would stick with tommy.
• TOMMY, upset about something: phil, can i talk to you? there’s something i—,
• PHIL: i’m busy, tommy. techno needs me to help him train
• TOMMY: yeah, but i—i’m— i need to talk to you?
• PHIL, sighing; why don’t you go talk to wilbur? he’s probably free.
• TOMMY: but—
• PHIL: honestly, tommy. why can’t you be more like techno? he never begs for my attention
• TOMMY: oh. right. yeah. i— sorry.
• wilbur’s always been there for him when he needed him, though. every time phil would forget to get him something for christmas, or forget his birthday wilbur would always come in his room & bring him a little gift that he brought with his own money. on his 14th birthday he even baked him a cake; it didn’t tast very good at all but it was worth it. ...tommy totally didn’t cry when he was eating it, what’re you talking about
• TOMMY: he forgot.
• WILBUR: what?
• TOMMY: he forgot my birthday. again. i’m 14 and he forgot. why isn’t he— doesnt he remember?
• WILBUR: tommy...
• TOMMY: if it were techno he wouldn’t have forgotten, he has— he fucking had technos birthday on a note on the fridge! why doesn’t he— why can’t he remember my birthday?
• WILBUR: he’s probably just busy, tommy, you know him—
• TOMMY: yeah. he’s always busy. too busy for me.
• every time phil would speak to tommy it would be awkward. he’d always get what tommy likes mixed up; either he’d get him and wilburs interests mixed up, or he’d pick something completely random and expect tommy to like it. he didn’t ever ask tommy what he liked, he just assumed things. one time, phil got him a guitar for christmas; he’d never played the guitar in his life. he didn’t have interest in music. that was wilburs thing. but when he tried to tell him, he brushed it off
• he told wilbur about the guitar, told him he didn’t want it, but instead of letting him give it to him wilbur instead decided to let him keep it. when he asked him why wilbur told him that he could teach him how to play; he said it wouldn’t be fair to throw away such an opportunity like that. he’d told him that it would be his christmas gift to him, teaching him how to play one of his favorite instruments. tommy wasn’t very good at it. he could only play one song on there, but wilbur still told him he was proud of him every time
• PHIL: oh! you have the guitar i gave you!
• TOMMY: yeah.
• PHIL: well, i told you you’d like it! it’s quite nice isn’t it?
• TOMMY: yeah, i guess... but i’m not—
• PHIL: next time, tommy, don’t lie to me about things you like.
• TOMMY: i—
• TOMMY: yeah. sorry.
• in pogtopia, wilbur, him and techno would always write letters to phil about what was going on— how they were faring alone. it wasn’t something tommy was very fond of doing, but he did it anyways; his notes were always short, because he still wasn’t very good at communicating with his father, even after all these years. after a couple days of sending off the letters they’d always get one in response— well. wilbur and techno did. tommy didn’t ever get any letters in response.
• TOMMY: what’re you holding, techno?
• TECHNO: oh. it’s a letter from dad. he says he’s doing well—
• TOMMY: it’s a letter from dad.
• TECHNO: ...yeah?
• TOMMY: you got a letter back. and i didn’t.
• TECHNO: oh.
• TECHNO; tommy, look, i—i’m sure it’s not that bad—
• TOMMY: it doesn’t matter, anyways. i’m not surprised.
• TECHNO: ...
• TECHNO: do you want me to write to him for you?
• TOMMY: don’t try. it’s not like he’d respond anyways.

Chapter 8 - This Venerable One Gets Punished
Mo Ran lay in bed like a dead fish for three days. Just as his wounds started to heal, he was summoned to Red Lotus Pavilion to do manual labour.
This was also part of his punishment. During the punishment period, Mo Ran couldn't go down the mountain, but he also couldn't just laze around. So he had to help out the sect and do some drudgery.
Generally speaking, these errands were things like: helping the cafeteria lady at Mengpo Hall wash the dishes, scrubbing the three hundred and sixty-five stone lions on the pillars of the Naihe Bridge, transcribing extremely boring archive files, and so on.
But what kind of place was Red Lotus Pavilion? It was the residence of that bastard Chu Wanning, known as the cursed place called Red Lotus Hell.
Few people in Life-Death Peak had been there, and everyone who had been there left with either their legs or their arms broken.
Therefore, in addition to Red Lotus Hell, Chu Wanning's bedroom had a more grounded nickname: Broken Leg Pavilion.
There was an inside joke circulating around the sect: "The Pavilion hides a beauty, and the beauty holds Tianwen. Enter the gate of broken legs, know the suffering of getting your legs broken. If you want your meridians broken, go to the Elder Yuheng."
There was once a female disciple who wasn't afraid of death. She was bold enough to lust after Elder Yuheng's beauty. Taking advantage of the dark night and high winds, she sneaked to the Southern Peak and climbed onto the eaves, intending to watch the Elder bathe and strip his clothes.
As you can imagine, the female warrior was beaten within an inch of death by Tianwen, crying for her father and calling her mother, and lay in bed for no less than a hundred days.
And Chu Wanning also declared that, if anyone else dared to commit another crime, he would carve out the eyes of the perpetrator himself.
Do you see? What complete nonsense! What puzzling behaviour! What a heinous man!
Within the sect, there used to be innocent silly girls who thought that, because they were women, Elder Yuheng would pity them and show compassion. They were always laughing and joking in front of him, trying to attract his attention. But ever since the elder whipped that one female hooligan, no one dared to hit on him anymore.
To Elder Yuheng, whether it was men or women, he didn't have the disposition of a gentleman. Other than a good-looking face, there was nothing redeeming about him - this was how Chu Wanning was viewed by the disciples of this sect.
The junior brother who had delivered the summons looked at Mo Ran with sympathy. He tried to stay quiet, but in the end, couldn't hold it back: "Brother Mo. . ."
"Hmm?"
". . . Elder Yuheng has such a bad temper. No one who went to the Red Lotus Water Pavilion came out able to stand. Maybe you could see if you could say your wounds haven't healed and beg Yuheng Elder to let you wash dishes instead?"
Mo Ran was very grateful for this junior brother's bodhisattva heart, but he didn't agree.
Beg Chu Wanning?
Forget it. He doesn't need to get beaten by Tianwen a second time.
So he strenuously put on his clothes, dragged his feet, and walked reluctantly to Life-Death Peak's southern peak.
Red Lotus Pavilion, Red Lotus Hell. There wasn't a single person in sight for a hundred li around Chu Wanning's residence.
No one wanted to go close to his residence. Chu Wanning's bad taste and uncertain personality made everyone in the sect stay far away from him.
Mo Ran was a bit nervous. He didn't know what Chu Wanning would make him do as punishment. His thoughts ran wild the whole trip to the southern peak. After passing through the dense bamboo groves, large swathes of beautiful red lotus came into view.
It was early morning, the sun rising from the east, reflecting a splendid shine on the horizon. The red lotus stalks in the pond stretched towards the flaming clouds in the sky, complementing each other; magnificent. At the edge of the pond, a curved zig-zag bridge led to the pavilion standing in serene silence. Behind it was a curtain of waterfalls streaming down the mountain, the fine crystal water droplets raining against the rocks at the bottom. The watery mist created by it evaporated into the air, light gleaming through the fog, creating a sense of enchanting tranquillity.
This is what Mo Ran thought about this:
Gross.
Wherever Chu Wanning lived, no matter how beautiful it was, would always be gross to him!
Just look at it, so arrogantly extravagant, a true waste of extravagance, in fact. The disciples’ dorms are all closely connected to each other and they don't take up much surface area. And then there's the mighty Elder Yuheng, who occupies a whole mountain by himself. He even dug three large ponds and filled them with lotus flowers. Although, these lotus flowers are special varieties and can be refined into immortal medicine, but—
This is getting off track, the place was not pleasing to the eye. He wished he could burn down Broken Leg Pavilion with his torch!
All he could ever do was silently criticize this place. Given that he was only sixteen* this year, he was no match for Chu Wanning. Mo Ran showed up outside Chu Wanning's residence regardless. He stood at the door, squinted his eyes, and put on a sickeningly sweet demure, pretending to be the ideal disciple.
*(T/N The original text flips between all these ages. Mo Ran is just guessing how old he is so that's why it keeps going to 14/15/16)
"Disciple Mo Ran here to greet his master."
"Yes, come in."
The room was chaotic and disorganized. The cold-blooded demon Chu Wanning was dressed in a white robe. The lapels were folded high and tightly, giving off an air of purity and abstinence. Today, he had his hair in a high ponytail, covered with a black metal hair ring. He sat on the ground fiddling with a bunch of mechanical parts, biting a pen he had in his mouth.
Casually glancing at Mo Ran, with the pen still in his mouth, he said vaguely: "Come here."
Mo Ran approached him.
It was no easy feat. Considering there were no benches or tables in this room, artwork and metal broken wood were scattered everywhere.
Mo Ran's brows twitched. He had never entered Chu Wanning's room in his previous life, and he had no idea that this well-dressed beautiful man lived in such a mess. . . He was at a loss for words.
"Master, what is this?"
"Night Wanderer."
"What?"
Chu Wanning was a little impatient, probably because it was inconvenient to speak with a pen in his mouth: "Night Wanderer."
Mo Ran silently glanced at the mess of parts on the ground.
His master was hailed as Shizun Chu, and it wasn't just out of vanity. Speaking honestly, Chu Wanning was a very powerful man. Whether it is his three god-grade weapons, his cultivation techniques, or his machine-building skills, he was clearly worthy of being defined by four words: "the peak of excellence". This was also the reason why he had such a bad temper and was so difficult to serve, but the major cultivation sects still tried to fight over him for those skill.
Regarding the "Night Wanderer", the reborn Mo Ran was well aware of it.
It was a kind of machine made by Chu Wanning, cheap to make but had strong combat power. It can guard the ordinary people in the lower cultivation world from ghosts and demons at night.
In his previous life, the well-made Night Wanderer had almost become a must-have machine for every household. The price of one was equivalent to a broom, and the effect was much easier to handle than the Grinning Door God.
After Chu Wanning died, those Night Wanderers still guarded the poor families who couldn't afford a high-level cultivator. This compassionate heart, coupled with Chu Wanning's affection for his disciples. . . hehe, it really makes Mo Ran despise him.
Mo Ran sat down and looked at the "Night Wanderer" which was just a bunch of parts at this time, and the past flashed through his mind. He couldn't help picking up one of the Night Wanderer's limbs and grasped it in his hand for a closer look.
Chu Wanning clipped a few components, finally freeing his hands. He took the pen out of his mouth and glared at Mo Ran: "That one was just finished with tung oil, don't touch it."
"Oh. . ." Mo Ran put down the machine. He put his fake smile back on still looking cute and completely harmless. He asked with a smile, "Shizun summoned me here, are you planning to let me help?"
Chu Wanning hummed: "Mm."
"What do you want me to do?"
"Clean up the house."
Mo Ran's smile froze. He looked around at the room that looked like it had been hit by an earthquake: ". . ."
Chu Wanning was a genius in immortal cultivation and an idiot in life.
After picking up the fifth broken teacup that had never been swept up, Mo Ran finally couldn't stand it: "Shizun, when was the last time you cleaned your house? My god, it's so messy!"
Chu Wanning was looking at his drawings, and didn't look up when Mo Ran spoke to him: "Almost a year."
Mo Ran: ". . ."
"Where do you usually sleep?"
"What?" There must be something wrong with the drawing. Chu Wanning was upset and looked even more impatient than usual. He rubbed his head and replied in a huff, "Of course it's the bed."
Mo Ran glanced at the bed. It was piled with all kinds of machines that had been mostly completed, as well as a bunch of tools such as saws, axes, files, and so on.
Seriously, how did this man sleep without cutting his own head off?
After working for most of the day, the sawdust on the floor had filled three dustpans, and the white towel that had wiped down the bookcase was ten times more black. By noon, he had only cleaned about half.
Fuck Chu Wanning, this person is really more poisonous than a leeching woman.
Cleaning a room didn't seem like much of a punishment, it didn't really seem like hard work, but who knew that it was such a ghastly place that hadn't been touched in a year? Not to mention that he was covered with wound. Even if he was healthy now, he could shorten his lifespan by half going through all of this!
"Shizun. . ."
"Hm?"
"Your pile of clothes. . ." They'd been stacked there for about three months.
Chu Wanning finally got one of Night Wanderer's arms attached. He rubbed his sore shoulder, looked up at the robes on the suitcase, and said coldly: "I wash them myself."
Mo Ran was relieved. Thank goodness. But he was still a little curious: "Really? Shizun can wash clothes?"
Chu Wanning glanced at him, and after a while, coldly said: "What's so hard about it? Throw them in water, soak them, take them out, and dry them."
". . ." After hearing this, he really didn't know any girl who would keep lusting after Chu Wanning. Mo Ran truly thought that it would break the hearts of dozen of women to find out how disgusting this man really was.
"It's getting late. You can accompany me to the dining hall and finish the rest when you get back."
There were people coming and going from Meng Po Hall, and the Life-Death Peak disciples were eating together. Chu Wanning grabbed a lacquered wooden tray, took a few dishes and sat in the corner silently.
From where he was, no one sat within twenty feet of him.
No one dared to sit too close to Elder Yuheng, for fear that he would get upset, and they would get a lashing from Tianwen. Chu Wanning himself actually knew about this, but he didn't mind. A cold beauty sat there, gently eating the food in the bowl.
But today wasn't like usual.
Mo Ran was brought by him, so naturally he had to follow him.
Others are afraid of him. So was Mo Ran, but he had already died once, so Chu Wanning was nothing in comparison.
Especially after the fear of first seeing him had subsided, the hatred of Chu Wanning from his previous life slowly emerged. So what if Chu Wanning was powerful? In his last life, he still died by his hands.
Mo Ran sat down in front of him, calmly chewing the sweet and sour pork ribs in the bowl. He crunched on the bones then spit them out into a pile.
Chu Wanning suddenly slammed down his chopsticks.
Mo Ran stopped for a moment.
". . . Can you stop eating with your mouth open?"
"I chew the bones, how am I supposed to do that with my mouth closed?"
"Then don't eat the bones."
"But I like to eat the bones."
"Eat around them."
The two quarreling voices grew louder and louder, and some disciples were already peeping at them.
Mo Ran fought the urge to throw the rice bowl over Chu Wanning's head. He pursed his lips, and after a while, he narrowed his eyes, and a sweet smile appeared at the corners of his mouth.
"Shizun, don't shout so loudly. Others might hear, won't they laugh at us?"
Chu Wanning has always been thin-skinned, and his voice really softened. He whispered: "Get out."
Mo Ran burst out laughing.
Chu Wanning: ". . ."
"Hey, Shizun, don't stare at me. Come on, let's eat. I'll try to be quiet."
Mo Ran had laughed enough and started playing nice again, the sound of his chewing much softer.
Chu Wanning gradually went back to gently eating. Seeing that Mo Ran was bring obedient, his face slightly relaxed, no longer looking so bitter and upset. He lowered his head, eating his green beans and tofu with grace.
After a long pause, Mo Ran started to do it again.
He didn't know what was wrong with him. In summary, seeing Chu Wanning in this life, he wanted to make a fool of himself and do whatever he could to make him angry.
So Chu Waning found that although Mo Ran did not chew loudly this time, he began to grab the ribs with his hands and eat them, sloppily eating with greasy hands and sauce-covered fingers.
Chu Wanning's blue forehead vein popped. Endure it.
He lowered his eyelashes. He didn't look at Mo Ran, and focused on his own meal.
Mo Ran didn't know if he had gotten too carefree or forgetful while eating, but he accidentally threw one of the gnawed bones into Chu Wanning's rice bowl.
Chu Wanning stared at the messy and hideous rib bone, and the surrounding air so condensed and frozen it was visible to the naked eye.
"Mo Ran. . . !!!"
"Shizun. . ." Mo Ran was quite frightened. He wasn't sure whether what he said sounded true or fake. "That. . . Uh, I didn't mean it."
Probably fake.
". . ."
"Don't be angry, I'll take it out for you."
He really stretched out his chopsticks, stuck them into Chu Wanning's bowl, and quickly picked out the bone.
Chu Wanning's face was pale, like he was about to vomit.
Mo Ran batted his eyelashes, and there was a pitiful grievance on his delicate face: "Shizun, do you dislike me?"
". . ."
"Shizun, I'm sorry."
It was just that.
Chu Wanning thought to himself: Why do you need to be restrained with the junior disciples?
He gave up the urge to summon Tianwen to hit Mo Ran. His appetite was gone, and he got up and said: "I'm full."
"What? Is that all you're going to eat? Shizun, you've barely touched your food."
Chu Wanning brushed him off: "I'm not hungry."
Mo Ran's heart felt like it was as joyful as a flower, and he still sweetly said: "Then I won't eat it anymore. We can go back to Red Lotus Hell - ehem, go back to Red Lotus Pavilion."
Chu Wanning narrowed his eyes: "We?" There was a mockery in his eyes, and then said, "Who is the other person you're talking about? Disciples and their Shizun have respectable relationships and you will address me in the proper manner."
Mo Ran carefully kept his expression, his eyes curled up with a smile, well-behaved, sensible and cute.
However, in his heart he was thinking: Respectful relationship? Proper manner?
Hehe, if Chu Wanning could know what happened in his previous life, he would know - in the end, Mo Weiyu was the only one deserving of respect in the world.
No matter how noble and arrogant Chu Waning was, he was still a piece of mud under his boot. Didn't he depend on Mo Ran's good will to survive?
Stepping quickly to keep up with his shizun's pace, Mo Ran still had a bright smile on his face.
If Shi Mei was the white moonlight in his heart, Chu Wanning was the broken fishbone stuck in his throat. He needed crush this thorn or swallow it, and it will corrode away in his stomach.
In short, during this new life, he could spare whoever he wanted.
But he would never spare Chu Wanning.
However, Chu Wanning didn't seem to want to spare him so easily.
Mo Ran stood in front of the library in Red Lotus Hell, looking at fifty rows of ten-story bookshelves, thinking that he must have heard wrong.
"Shizun, what did you say. . .?"
Chu Wanning replied lightly: "Dust all the books in here."
". . ."
"After dusting, catalogue them."
"..."
"I will check back tomorrow morning."
"!!!"
What!!! Was he supposed to stay overnight in Red Lotus Hell??
But he had planned to meet with Shi Mei, and even asked Shimei to change his medicine at night!!!
He opened his mouth to plead his case, but Chu Wanning didn't bother paying attention to him. With a wave of his wide sleeves, and turned to exit the library, and, incidentally, closed the door of the library in a haughty manner.
Mo Ran, who's date had been ruined, sat in his boiling hatred of Chu Wanning - he wanted to burn all Chu Wanning's books!!
No!
After thinking it over, he thought of something even worse. . .

“I never pegged you for a liar”
“You might be a foot taller than me but I won’t hesitate to deck you if you don’t shut up”
“You said you didn’t know him!”
“I never said such thing” you argued back, it was the typical morning for you. And by typical you mean Jungwoo bothering you as you work around the shop. Everyday he makes you wonder why you hired him in the first place.
“Your ex is Jung Jaehyun, the CEO of Jung Publishing. Their company is like established world wide, his sisters work abroad and his youngest brother works here. The world really is small after all”
“You sound like a fan”
“I can’t believe I tease Sungchan like that when his family can buy the whole block”
“Better start saying your apologies then” you mumbled
The bell ringed just then, making the two of you look up. “Speaking of, Sungchan, Jungwoo has something to say to you” You said as the younger boy walk towards the front counter
“Did I do something wrong again? I swear I didn’t mix up the salt and sugar this time”
“This time?” you asked
“No no no, you didn’t do anything wrong” you and Jungwoo spoke at the same time, the taller boy looking between the two of you like a little kid worried he might get scolded over something
“It was one time, and in my defense it was partly Jungwoo hyung’s fault. He put the two side by side”
“I kinda don’t want to know”
“You have something to say to me?” Sungchan asked Jungwoo, you just chuckled at the latter “You know, you’re a liar too”
“Too? What did I lie about exactly?”
“You’re a Jung!”
“He literally said that the day he applied here, technically he didn’t lie about anything. I was just dumb enough not to put two and two together” you answered for the younger boy. The three of you proceeded to work, the two boys in the kitchen area getting some pastries ready for display, you can hear them bickering from back there.
“Uhm noona, can I ask you something?” you were surprised by the sudden voice breaking the silence in your office, there Sungchan stood by the door peaking in
“Sure, come in. What is it?”
“Am I fired?”
“Why? Did you switch the sugar with salt again?” you chuckled, trying to make him feel less nervous
“Uhm I kinda heard what happened yesterday at home. I swear I wasn’t eavesdropping but you know, you guys weren’t exactly quiet”
You just smiled at the boy, he was so much like his siblings yet so different. He definitely got the good looking genes, much like his older brother he also has a weird sense of humor. But one thing that sets them apart is how shy and nervous Sungchan seems to be, like a little puppy being introduced to the world.
“Of course you’re not fired. Whatever happened between me and your brother has got nothing to do with you, I kinda didn’t even know you were siblings up until yesterday”
“I didn’t know you were his ex too” you chuckled at his answer, of course he didn’t. You never met  the young boy when you and Jaehyun dated, you’ve met his sisters and his mom but you never got the chance to meet his father and his youngest sibling.
“That was a long time ago, you were probably still in middle school when we dated”
“He moved out of our house during his third year in college, I never expected he will cause mom wanted him to stay home. But one day he kinda just packed his things then he was out the door. Mom was so mad at him”
The two of you broke up the summer before third year of college, you left for Paris a few weeks before school started. You asked the university to let you go and transfer, which they thankfully approved.
Then you were on the next flight out. Not a single goodbye said.
You never heard from Jaehyun after that, you couldn’t bring yourself to ask about him. You had no right to, after what happened. So the story Sungchan told you was new news to you.
“He really liked the cake by the way, when he came to pick me up yesterday he asked if I could buy him another one”
“It is his favorite flavor” you smiled at the memory.
Jaehyun may or may not be the inspiration behind the uniquely flavored cake, when you were making the menu for your cafe you couldn’t help but add that selection. Given that not many people will like it but still you wanted to make it,
“So I’m not fired right?”
“No, I might have to ask Jungwoo about the salt incident though”
“No matter what he say, he was partly at fault”
Tumblr media
This was honestly the last place you thought you’ll be at. You must look so silly right now, standing in the lobby of a corporate building in your sundress holding  cake boxes while the receptionist stares you down.
“I’m sorry miss but I can’t just let you go up without an appointment”
“Okay uhm can I talk to someone that I give this to and take it upstairs?” you asked, gesturing at the boxes you brought
“Sorry we don’t allow solicitations” she smiled at you, but you know she was pretty annoyed at you.
You were just about to give up when you hear someone call your name,
“Y/N? Is that you?”
“Hi, Jess” you smiled back at her, “You brought a gift?” she asked, nodding at the box
“Yea, one of them is for you actually. It’s kind of late for your birthday but I thought you might like it”
Jessica smiled at you before taking the box and linking one arm around yours, the receptionist long forgotten.
“Let’s go upstairs, come on” then she whisked you away. When you got the elevator, the two of you made small chats. She was talking about how the designers loved the photos you took during the shoot,
“You should do it again sometime”
“It’s just a hobby now, really” you smiled at her suggestion, you did major in photography for the first two years in college but after moving schools, you decided to change majors too. Culinary was still hard to do, but you enjoyed every second if it. It was also a good thing that you were just as good with a camera as you are with a whisk.
“And let me guess, that one is for Jae” Jessica nodded at the box you were holding
You were about to say no but you both know that wasn’t the truth so you just laughed, “You know after you he never really dated anyone seriously. Chunga is a great girl and yet they never worked out. It’s like he already knew it wasn’t going to, no one was like you so why try”
“I don’t think he actually thinks that” you mumbled, “Just accept it, my brother is still very much smitten with you. He’s just trying to act all tough because he doesn’t want to get hurt again” she shot you a smile.
The two of you stepped out the elevator, you just followed Jessica since you’re not really sure where she was going
“I’m sorry” you know saying those words will never suffice but you still say it anyways.
“Don’t say sorry to me, you didn’t do anything wrong to me. And to Jaehyun too, just be gentle with him” she shot you that sisterly smile
“I don’t think he wants to talk to me, can you give this to him though?”
“Why don’t you give it to him yourself?”
“That’s not really a good idea, I don’t want to ruin his day”
“Believe me, you’ll be the best part of his day” she said as she open the door to her office you assume. She gestured for you to come in first, so you did.
When you turned around you almost lost your grip on the box you were holding,
“Okay, can’t say I walked right into that one” you mumbled, hearing a chuckle from Jessica who was standing behind you
“Enjoy” Jessica says from behind you before closing the door.
Jaehyun almost didn’t go to work today. Yesterdays revelations were too much to take in, of course it didn’t go down without an argument between him and his mother. Plus you were there and you looked like you just wanted to get away from him again, but you stayed rooted at your spot.
The two of you didn’t exchange any words besides an apology you muttered on your way out the door. He really thought that was the last of you he’ll see.
And now you’re here. In his office. He almost pinched himself to make sure he wasn’t dreaming right now because if he’s being honest it wouldn’t be the first time you’ve appeared in his dreams.
“What brings you here?”
“Uh, I’m not sure?”
“You’re not sure?”
“I didn’t think this far ahead”
He can’t help but chuckled at your expression. You were still standing awkwardly by the door, looking around his office.
“You know you can come closer, I don’t bite. Unless-”
“Okay don’t continue that sentence” you said as you walk towards his desk, putting the cake carefully on his table
“What’s this?”
“An apology gift”
“So you’re bribing me now” okay ouch.
He must have noticed the change in your expression because he quickly added, “I didn’t mean it like that”
“No no, it’s fine”
Then it was silent, not the awkward type of silence. You weren’t sure where to look so you just looked down at your feet, you hear a chuckle from Jaehyun
“What?”
“Just yesterday you were close to tears and now you’re here bringing me cake”
You smiled gently at his words, taking a deep breath before speaking again
“It was like a weight lifted off of my shoulder, at least now I don’t have anything to hide from you. There’s no monsters hiding in my closet or something like that. I don’t expect you to forgive me and forget about it. But I do want to fix this, the least I could do is make up for the wrongs that I did”
“Was it wrong?”
“I took your mom’s money, the money that she gave me to break up with you. She pretty much paid me”
“You said it yourself you never touched a cent”
“I couldn’t. I wouldn’t. It wasn’t worth it”
“Wasn’t worth what?” Jaehyun asked, he wasn’t why he did or what answer he wanted to hear from you but he asked anyway
“It wasn’t worth totally losing you. I knew if I used it then that meant I agreed with your mom. I only did what I did not because of the money but because I wanted you to be free from the burden you were feeling. She was never going to let us be if we continued dating, so I just took the money and disappeared”
He didn’t expect you to be this truthful and open about it, but then again you never really lied to him. He knew you like the back of his hand, even after all these years. There was no use to lying if it’s with him, he'll just see right through you.
“You could’ve said goodbye”
“You would’ve known then, you would’ve stopped me from going then we both wouldn’t be where we are now” You answered,  this time there were no screams, no anger no sadness.
“Are you happy?” he asked
“Yes, it wasn’t always like this. There were a lot of hard days, now I’m just glad I got through all of that” you answered with a smile, you look over at him to find him already staring at you. “Are you happy, Jaehyun?” you asked him
“I can be”
As he said those words he also held your gaze, looking like he was staring right through you. This wasn’t the Jaehyun you’ve talked to previously, the one that was always angry and throwing words at you. This was just Jaehyun, the Jaehyun you used to know.
But then again he isn’t. He has changed so much in the past five years, as you have. Maybe you two were tossed together by fate at the wrong time, and it ended badly. But here you are now.
You’re not expecting a second shot at love with him, it wasn’t your time then so who call tell it is now? you were willing to gamble again but this time you both were too scared to lose. To hurt to ever risk falling again. Happiness is pretty much what all you want for him.
He deserves to be happy, even if it meant you had to end what you had in order for him to start again.

Die Reise des Raben
Kaz Brekker x female reader
warnings: violence, death, swearing
word count: 4k
A/N: My first try at writing ever. Feedback is highly appriciated. If you see grammer or spelling mistakes, feel free to message me so I can fix the mistakes. English is not my first language. I really hope you guys enjoy my story!
(Y/N) had only been six years old when it had first happened. She had played hide and seek at her home with a boy from the neighbourhood and, in her humble opinion, found the best hiding spot of all time. In her parents' closet there was a small room behind the back wall. Hardly big enough to squeeze in and completely empty except for two swords. When her eyes fell on the swords, it was as if she could hear a whisper. (Y/N) looked over her shoulder, but she was still alone in her parents' room. She looked back at the swords and examined them more closely. They were not particularly long. The scabbard was made of blood-red wood and covered with black patterns that looked like bird feathers. The hilt was black too and (Y/N) wondered what the rest of the sword would look like. She reached out for one of the swords but hesitated to touch it. (Y/N) had always been fascinated by knives and had started early to always carry one with her when she played outside. The barrel was dangerous – even for children. But her mother, after catching her five-year-old daughter with a knife and bloody hands, had forbidden her to even touch a sharp knife. It wasn't her blood at all, but that of an older boy who had tried to take the few coins from her that she was supposed to use to buy bread from the baker.
'But this wasn't a knife, right?' (Y/N) thought. And even if she wanted to resist – she just couldn't. The two swords seemed to have a magical pull on her. With one last look over her shoulder, (Y/N) grabbed the sword closest to her. As her hand closed around the sword, she felt a shiver run through her. With her other hand she drew the sword from its scabbard. The blade was made of dark curved steel and (Y/N) immediately had the feeling that her and had merged with the handle, like the coldness of the steel seeps into her arm. She closed her eyes. It felt so right.
“Honey, where are you? Peter can't find you anywhere…. Oh my god (Y/N)! Drop that sword immediately!” (Y/N) opened her eyes and saw her completely astonished mother standing in front of her. (Y/N) could see the sheer panic in her eyes. Her father rushed into the room and stopped dead when he saw his daughter. Both parents had their eyes fixed on the arm (Y/N) was holding the sword with. She lowered her gaze and realized what had frightened her parents. Black patterns similar to those on the scabbard ran over her hand and up to the elbow. They would have been reminiscent of tattoos if they hadn't withdrawn in front of their eyes towards the sword.
"(Y/N), put the sword down and come over here," urged her mother. (Y/N) put the sword back into its sheath and carefully placed it on the ground. She didn't really want to let go of it, but the desire to placate mother was stronger.
"I suspected it," (Y/N)'s father mumbled and looked at his wife as she hugged (Y/N). "She has always had an affinity for blades. But that the wakizashi would react so strongly to her..."
"Put these things away," (Y/N)'s mother hissed and led her daughter out of the room.
The rest of the day (Y/N) tried to get her parents to talk to her about what had happened. But her mother made it clear that they would never talk about the swords again and that (Y/N) should forget about them immediately. Her father would sell them at the port tomorrow. (Y/N) shivered at the thought, but she saw no chance of keeping the
swords from being sold.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everyday life quickly went back to normal, and nobody said a word about the two swords. But (Y/N) could not forget the feeling, the power that flooded her as she held the sword. So, she got herself two wooden sticks, carved them into shape as best she could, and trained. She had no idea how to wield a sword, but she practiced and practiced until her arms got
heavy. Her stamina had improved, but it was far from being called a fighting technique. She found school teaching sword fight in the university district near the 1st port. It was a long way from the barrel, but since her parents were working all day anyway, she had enough time to get there and come back unnoticed. (Y/N) secretly observed the students through a
window. She tried to memorize everything to recreate it later with her makeshift swords.
She hid the wooden swords under a loose floorboard in her room. As she was about to put them away again, her father came into the room to get her for dinner. (Y/N) froze, still one of the swords in hand. Her father looked from his daughter to the sword and back again. Then he closed the door and went up to her. (Y/N) didn't know what to expect, though it was
not the understanding look he gave her.
"You secretly exercise?" It sounded more like a statement than a question.
"Yes, for a while now," (Y/N) answered. Why should she lie?
Her father laughed softly. "I should have guessed. After all, you are the first to whom the wakizashi responded since your great-grandfather."
"What do you mean by that?" (Y/N) asked.
"These swords have been in my family for centuries. Most of the members could wield them like ordinary short swords. For some, however, these patterns appeared. It was as if the swords themselves gave them more power, speed and strength. My grandfather still didn't use them very often. He said he felt like he was losing his soul to the swords. That he felt a darkness dwelling in them. How much of it is true I can't say, but I hope you never have to find out. And now let us go out to eat."
After her father had finished, (Y/N) was left with more questions than answers.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 years later
The second time (Y/N) picked up those swords was on the day that changed her life forever.
She woke up when she heard screams from the staircase. The next second her father stormed into the room and pulled her out of her bed and towards her parents' bedroom.
"Dad, what's going on?" (Y/N) asked slightly panicked.
"You have to hide immediately. And no matter what you hear or see - DON'T COME OUT!" her father replied while he opened the door to the closet and pushed (Y/N) into the small room behind the wall unit. It was pitch black in (Y/N)'s hiding place, but she could hear the front door being kicked in and her mother screaming.
"Please excuse our unannounced visit," (Y/N) heard a deep male voice sneer, "But you're far behind with your payment and Bayson has announced what will happen if you can't pay."
"Please, Tom, we've already given Bayson everything we could spare. Please give us a few more weeks - we'll get the money," (Y/N)'s father pleaded.
"No, you had your chance," Tom answered.
"If you kill us, you will never get your money," (Y/N)'s mother whimpered.
(Y/N) sat in her hiding place, frozen with fear. Her parents owed money to some gangsters? Why hadn't they said anything to her? She could have gotten a job. She could have helped. What should she do now? Would these guys really kill her parents? She had to get to them and try to protect them. But she couldn't move, the fear was too strong. And honestly... what could she have done?
"That's true," Tom's voice was cold and void of any emotion, "But you'll be a deterring example to anyone who thinks they can mess with the Blue Moons. And maybe your pretty daughter can bring in a few more Kruge."
"Don't you dare-," (Y/N)'s father began, but before he could end his threat, two shots rang out, followed by two thuds.
"What weaklings, it’s a miracle they survived in the barrel for so long," (Y/N) heard Tom laugh.
(Y/N) had pressed her hands over her mouth to stifle the scream that threatened to break out. Tears sprang to her eyes and rolled down her cheeks.
"Boss, the girl is not here," one of the men reported.
"Doesn't matter. One more orphan in the barrel. She won't survive for long on her own anyway. Let's get out of here," Tom replied and (Y/N) heard steps moving away. She stayed in the room for a while and then forced herself to leave her hiding place.
It was dark in the apartment and only a single candle was still burning in the hallway. (Y/N) forced herself to take the last step into the hallway and saw her parents slumped on the floor.
'Headshot,' thought (Y/N) absentmindedly. At least it had been quick. She felt like she was detached from her body. She sank down in a daze. What should she do now? Get the stadwatch? She snorted at the thought. Nobody cared about two dead people from the barrel. And certainly not about her. At best she would go to an orphanage, at worst she would be sold to someone.
'I should leave while I still can,' she decided.
After throwing a few things into her bag, she went back to her parents' bedroom. She knew that her father kept the old, small family photo album in one of his drawers. He had often looked at it with her in the past. When she was about to put it in her bag, a piece of paper fell out. (Y/N) picked it up and recognized her father's handwriting.
They are not sold. I knew that one day you would need them. I hid them under my mattress. I am sorry that I will no longer be there to protect you. But you are strong, you will live!
Love, Dad.
(Y/N) blinked away the tears and pulled the mattress off the bed to get the swords. She would train until she was strong enough to kill every one of the Blue Moons. They would pay for what they did to their family. They would all die, and she would live.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 years later
She had saved Boysen for last. Enjoyed how his panic grew with every member of the Blue Moons found dead and slashed. She had initially intended to kill him right away, but it was better to start with some weaker members first to practice her skills. And Tom had fit perfectly in that category. He had been the first person (Y/N) ever killed. And it had been great. The second she had grabbed the wakizashi to avenge her family, she had felt like she was born to do exactly that. To bring pain and darkness. She had felt the power spreading throughout her body and had welcomed the cold that allowed her to kill without hesitation.
At first, she had planned to wipe out the Blue Moons as soon as possible, but in time she had found a pleasure in watching them first try to find her and later try to hide from her. (Y/N) took more than a year to gradually thin the ranks of the Blue Moons. But tonight, she would end it. There were only Boysen and half a dozen of his men left. He had gathered his best men a while ago and went underground. Left the rest of the gang to their fate.
(Y/N) stood in the shadow of an old house, watching a warehouse on the docks. There she had located the rest of the Blue Moons. Her hood was pulled low over her face, so the raven mask was barely visible. The black tattoos that always appeared as soon as she fought with the swords could already be seen on her hands and arms. She slid noiselessly along the hall. Only one man stood guard. That was done quickly. (Y/N) covered his mouth from behind to stifle his scream as she pierced him with her short sword. (Y/N) let the man fall to the ground and entered the hall through a side entrance. There were four men sitting around a table playing cards. Boysen and another man stood a little further away and seemed to be discussing something.
"Hello guys," (Y/N) said, enjoying the panic breaking out around her. The men almost toppled over each other in a rush to get their weapons.
"How did you find us, Rabe?" Boysen called and aimed his gun at (Y/N) with a trembling hand.
"Oh, I just followed the stink of fear and voila, here you are," (Y/N) said as she looked at the men. She felt the swords literally vibrate in her hands. The urge to kill was almost overwhelming.
'In a moment, a little more patience,' (Y/N) thought.
"We are not afraid of you. You have no chance against all of us," one of the other men replied.
"Is that so?" (Y/N) asked softly and looked at the man with a tilted head, "Well, then I'll teach you fear."
She ran off. Faster than a human should be able to. She felt the power rush through her veins, making her faster and stronger. She was in a frenzy. The first two men were dead before anyone could really process what had happened. The other two at the table opened fire. (Y/N) whirled her swords and fended off the bullets. The men got big eyes and stumbled backwards.
"What the hell are you?" one of them shouted.
"Your end," (Y/N) jumped up to the men and slit them open with two well-aimed blows. Blood spurted from their wounds and in their last seconds the men tried in vain to keep their intestines from oozing out.
She turned away and set about crushing the last two cowardly rats. Boysen and his companion had run away, but they couldn't have been far yet.
(Y/N) ran over the roofs and discovered the two men trying to untie a boat at the harbour.
She knocked the head off the shoulders of the one man without further ado. His body fell into the water with a loud splash. Boysen spun around and fired a pistol. But (Y/N) was prepared for it, ducked away, knocked the weapon out of his hand and held her two swords crossed in the shape of an X in front of his neck.
Boysen was frozen.
"Why me? Why the Blue Moons?” he asked.
"You had my family killed. With others, you may have always gotten away with it. It's just your bad luck that I'm the uncrowned queen here in the barrel when it comes to killing." With these words, (Y/N) slit Boysen’s throat, but only enough to render him helpless. He would bleed to death slowly and painfully. He slumped to the ground and stared up at her. She smiled down at him.
She stayed with him until he took his last breath. She felt nothing, no remorse, no regrets. Only darkness, but at the same time a deep satisfaction that always set in after a fight with her swords. She put the wakizashi back into their sheaths. She knew she had already gone too far.
There was no turning back for her. Her great grandfather might have been strong enough to withstand the call of the swords. But she wasn’t, the rush was too good. So why should she stop?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 year later
She strolled along the harbour, the adrenaline still pumping through her veins. The black patterns hadn't completely withdrawn after their last fight and (Y/N) still felt the strength and darkness that came with the use of her wakizashi. It was like a frenzy. Fighting with her swords was like a drug. And (Y/N) was a hopeless junkie. She had long since given up on worrying that the darkness and bloodlust would eventually devour her completely. Because it was bound to happen as long as she wielded the swords. And while she was a good shot and a very passable fighter with her fists – as she had to, to survive this long in the barrel – she was the deadliest with her swords. She had made a name for herself as Der Rabe and was able to keep herself afloat from the jobs she received. At least until she wouldn't be fast enough in a battle, or the swords would drive her crazy. She had lived in the barrel since she was born, at some point the time would just run out, so why worry? What in her life was worth fighting for, except for the next meal? Everyone fought for themselves, others were always a risk. Trusting the wrong people could end badly. Very bad. (Y/N) put one hand over her heart where the faded scar was.
Lost in thought, she almost overheard the voice that seemed to come from the dock. (Y/N) looked over the edge in astonishment. The picture that presented itself should have been disturbing, but she had seen a lot in her time in the barrel. A boy with dark hair, about her age, was hanging on the ladder and muttering to himself. He looked more dead than alive. Not far from him another body was floating in the water. Already rotting and bloated.
It was clear that the dark-haired boy would never make it up the ladder. Any second, he would let go and sink down.
'At least it's over then,' (Y/N) thought and was about to turn away when the boy opened his eyes and looked up at her. (Y/N) caught her breath and a pleasant shiver ran down her spine. His eyes were such a piercing, rich blue that they seemed to glow even in his dirty, sunken face.
When (Y/N) went down the ladder to drag the boy onto the quay wall, she didn't know exactly why she wanted to help him. She had seen many people in need in the barrel and had not wasted a second on them. Perhaps it was the seemingly irrepressible determination in those blue eyes that seemed to call out, "I want to live!"
Somehow, she felt connected to the boy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I can do it. I have to make it. I can do it," Kaz kept muttering to himself so as not to completely lose consciousness. His whole body ached, and he knew that he wouldn't have long before all his strength would leave him. Kaz blinked up. He just had to climb this incredibly high and steep ladder and then he would be safe. At least safe from drowning. Everything else he would worry about when the time came.
'I can do it ... I just need to rest for a moment,' Kaz closed his eyes and continued muttering to himself. He felt his grip begin to loosen and tears his eyes open. On the quay wall he saw a figure completely clad in black, who seemed to be watching him with their head tilted. They were wearing a knee-length coat and had the hood pulled over their head. Their mouth was covered by a tube scarf and the area around the eyes was covered by some kind of mask. The figure reminded Kaz of a reaper. 'No way, forget it,' Kaz thought, 'You definitely won't get me tonight! Not after all I have endured to get here.'
Kaz stared at the figure stubbornly. But when they swung themself over the quay wall and descended the ladder, fear seized him. What was that supposed to mean? Would they throw him in the water? Why didn't they just move on?
When the figure was only a step above him, they turned and grabbed his arm with one hand still on the ladder. At the touch bile rose up in Kaz' throat and he fought against the looming faint that threatened to overwhelm him. He tried to tear himself away from the hand that was holding him and didn't even notice that the person didn't want to push him away, but rather pull him up.
"Hey, stop fidgeting. I'm trying to save your ass right now and I don't feel like going for a swim," Kaz heard a voice that could hardly be made out through the fabric in front of the mouth. Still, Kaz could hear that the voice sounded feminine and didn't quite match the Reaper Kaz had in front of him. `Why is she whispering?’ Kaz wondered and paused to look at the girl, because that was what she had to be. But through the hood and mask he couldn't see anything except a pair of dark eyes that glared at him angrily.
The girl used the short pause to tighten her grip. She had amazing strength in her arm and managed to pull Kaz onto the ladder. Kaz found support with his foot on the lowest step but was now so close to the girl that he felt the panic collapse over him. Everything went black and he only heard the curse the girl uttered before the darkness completely enveloped him.
"What the hell- ?!" (Y/N) wrapped her arm around the boy's chest to keep him on the ladder, but he sagged completely and dragged her into the water. (Y/N) reappeared with a splutter, still holding the boy.
"Holy shit, is that cold!" she cursed and paddled back to the ladder to grab it with one hand.
"Hey, wake up! Wake up!” she shook him, but he didn't react. She felt for a pulse – why should she bother when he is already dead? With bated breath she waited - and felt a pulse. Alive but unconscious.
"Shit, what now?" she thought. Let go of him? No, that was out of question. (Y/N) looked up and counted the stairs. Seven. She could do seven. She was a good deal taller than him and had a strong upper body from all the sword training. She pulled the boy's arms over her shoulders, so his chest was pressed against her back and tied his wrists with her belt to keep him from slipping off during the ascent. She pulled herself up on the first step. The boy hung on her back like a heavy backpack.
'Thank God he's so emaciated, otherwise this would never work,' (Y/N) thought.
After three steps she had to readjust the boy's arms, her own burning from the effort of lifting herself and easily 45 kilograms of dead weight.
"Why am I doing this to myself again?! For a pair of pretty eyes? I must be completely crazy," (Y/N) grumbled to herself.
After what felt like an eternity, (Y/N) heaved herself and the boy over the quay wall. With her eyes closed she lay on her side panting to catch her breath. She untied the boy's hands and sat up.
'I'll have sore muscles tomorrow,' she thought as she rolled her shoulders to relieve the tension in her cramped joints. She looked at the boy who was still unconscious. She shook his shoulder again to wake him, but again he didn't move.
"Oh, isn't that convenient for you," (Y/N) muttered, "If you think I'll drag you just a meter further, you're wrong."
She looked around, you could already see dawn looming at the horizon, and she really had to hurry to get back to her room and change.
Again, she looked at the dark-haired boy. He was so pale, and his cheekbones were sharp against his face. 'If I leave him here and he dies, the whole effort would be in vain,' she thought. (Y/N) got up with a sigh, fastened her swords – which fortunately were still where she had left them – and grabbed one of his arms.
"So much on the topic 'Not one meter further'," (Y/N) thought. She slung him over her shoulder and pulled and dragged the boy toward the boarding house.
"He’ll be safe there for the time being and can recover. It’s time to look for something new anyway. I just take him there and then I'm really gone," (Y/N) debated quietly to herself.

Looking Too Closely (Bucky x Fem!Stark!Reader) — part four
Y’all. I am dumb as all fucking hell. I’ve had this finished for days and just keep forgetting to post it. Send help
Summary: Ominous stuff and the Father Test results oooooo
Warnings: angst but that’s it I think
Tumblr media
The next day, you and Wanda finally tackle everything Pepper bought you. You’re glad you took Tony’s advice (for once) and asked Wanda for help because it’s so much stuff.
“That is not my color. There’s no way I’d wear that.”
“You won’t know unless you try it on!” Wanda argues, holding the shirt out to you.
You push it back to her chest. “Nope. You take it.”
“Are you sure?” She asks, setting it aside. “Pepper got these for you.”
“Yeah, I know.” But I don’t like owning things.
Wanda sighs. “I’m sorry, but it’s okay to own things, you know.”
You look up in shock. You completely forgot she can read minds.
“I’m sorry,” she says again, grimacing. “I try not to, I swear, but that was a strong feeling,” she raises her eyebrows for emphasis.
“I’m not used to it,” you confess. “Mom never had enough money for us to have anything but the essentials. So, this…” You gesture at the pile of clothes around you and on your bed. “It’s weird.”
“I understand,” Wanda says. “But, I mean, you didn’t have anything when you got here. These are all essentials. It just looks like a lot.”
“You’re probably right,” you murmur. “You can still have the shirt, though. That really isn’t my color.”
“Okay,” she chuckles. “I’ll take it.”
You hear footsteps down the hall, and they sound a lot like Bucky’s, which is why when he knocks on the door, you’re not at all surprised when it sounds like his knock, too.
“Come in,” you call out, and sure enough, it’s Bucky.
“Hey-- Oh, hey Wanda.”
She waves.
He looks back at you, smiling sheepishly. “Sorry, I was just checking on you.”
You furrow your eyebrows. “Why?”
He shrugs, evidently not having a reason. “I...I don’t know. I hadn’t seen you since yesterday, so I guess I just...wanted to check.”
“Oh,” you nod slowly. “I’m good. Thanks for checking.”
“Yeah,” he says, waving once more. “See you.” He closes the door behind him, and you listen to his footsteps retreat back into the main area.
“Weird,” you mutter, grabbing another shirt to examine.
Wanda snickers.
You drop the shirt, giving her a look. “What?”
“Nothing…” She shakes her head, picking up a pair of pants. “These are cute.”
“Wanda,” you sigh. “What?”
“Nothing!” She tries again. “Really, it’s nothing. Bucky is the one mind I can’t really read. He’s good at hiding things.”
“But?”
She shrugs. “He doesn’t really check up on people.”
“Okay? And?”
“Nothing,” she says again. “Like I said, I can’t read him. And we have a bigger thing to worry about. Do you like these?” She turns the pants around for you.
You accept her subject change reluctantly. The pants are cute.

When Bucky returns to the main area, he’s immediately called away by Steve.
“Meeting in five,” Steve says. “At MedBay.”
Bucky follows Steve to the elevator, narrowing his eyes. “Why MedBay?”
“It’s about Y/N,” Steve says quietly, stepping inside the elevator with Bucky.
“Did the results come back?” Bucky asks.
“They must’ve,” Steve sighs.
“What are we gonna do if she’s like us?” Bucky asks. “She has no clue that she is.”
“That we know of,” Steve adds.
“No, Steve, I don’t think she knows,” Bucky argues. “At all.”
“Well, we’ll figure that out later,” Steve says.
The elevator stops at MedBay, letting the two super soldiers off.
They’re met with Dr. Cho, Tony, and Natasha standing around. The look that Nat gives Steve is enough to let him know it’s bad.
Of course, bad is subjective. Because if you are a super soldier, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing (you won’t drop dead from it) -- but Bucky isn’t sure it’s a good thing, either. Especially if you don’t know what you are, because that means you were given the serum against your will and without your knowledge. But who would do that to you -- to a fucking kid?
Tony breaks the silence. “Well, we don’t need to stand around staring at each other. I’m sure you’ve put two and two together.”
Bucky’s heart sinks. “She’s a super soldier?”
Dr. Cho shakes her head. “I’m not completely sure.” She pauses. “But based on the DNA so far...yes. A form of one.”
“A form of one?” Bucky blurts.
“I’ve already called Dr. Banner,” Tony says. “He should be here tomorrow to help us figure this one out. Quickly.”
“Do you think someone is trying to recreate the serum?” Steve asks.
“Not trying to,” Tony says. “If Y/N is anything to go off of, they’ve done it.”
“But how does she not remember it?” Natasha questions. “It sounds like something someone would remember.”
“Unless she was unconscious,” Bucky adds quietly. “Or whoever it was wiped her memory.”
Everyone looks at Bucky, afraid that he’s right.
“We don’t know that, but...I do know her mom worked for HYDRA. Or a group closely associated with them,” Tony waves his hands aimlessly. “FRIDAY is still digging.”
“And you had sex with her?” Bucky laughs darkly. “Of course.”
“Hey, I don’t need your judgement, Barnes,” Tony snaps. “All I need is some help. Because until I say so, this stays between us. Okay?” Tony raises his eyebrows. “Barnes?”
“Okay,” Bucky mutters.
“Understood,” Steve says with a nod, but Tony wasn’t worried about him, or Natasha who nods in agreement, too. Tony’s worried about Bucky because he’s latched onto you in some weird way that Tony can’t quite place, but he knows it’s going to cause issues.
“I’ll try to convince her to start training with us,” Nat says. “At least with Wanda and I first. It’ll give her something to do and I can see how she behaves.”
Steve likes the idea. “If she wants to train with me or Buck, that’s fine too, we can gauge if she does or doesn’t know about her strength.”
“We don’t even know if she has super strength,” Bucky argues. “All I’ve noticed is that her senses are sharper than normal.”
“She’s been on the run,” Nat counters. “I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s holding things back from us. Don’t give me that look, I’m not saying I blame her, I’m saying I understand.”
Bucky doesn’t stop glaring at her, but he does nod.
Tony breaks the tension with a clap of his hands. “Now that we’re all on the same page, I need to go. I’ve got some news to break to the kid.”
All heads slowly turn toward Tony.
“Wait…” Nat furrows her eyebrows.
“She’s really yours?” Steve asks quietly.
“She’s really mine,” Tony nods, smiling, but it doesn’t reach his eyes. “Talk about being father of the year. Not even knowing your kid exists until she’s almost twenty.” He laughs it off because that’s all he knows how to do, but everyone can tell he’s beating himself up inside.

When you see Tony again, Wanda is gathering the few clothes you decided not to keep.
“Hey munchkin,” he says, knocking on your door with two knuckles. “You got a minute?”
“Sure,” you shrug.
“I’ll see you later,” Wanda waves, punching Tony lightly in the arm on her way by.
“What’s up?” You ask. You’re grateful he’s come in now because it gets you out of hanging all this shit up, but you won’t admit that to him.
“Thought we could take a walk,” he shrugs. “I realized I haven’t given you the grand tour.”
You chuckle. “I’ve been almost everywhere, I mean, what else is there?”
Tony only smiles.
You shake your head, rolling your eyes. “Fine, lead the way.”
Tony doesn’t seem nearly as happy as you thought he would when you agreed.
Still, you follow him, and you don’t question his mood. Even if the two of you do bicker like hell, you kind of don’t mind spending some time with him. Working in the lab yesterday was more fun than you expected it to be.
Tony takes you down to the garage where all his cars are. There’s a couple motorcycles, one for Steve and one for Natasha. Bucky, surprisingly, doesn’t have one. Tony doesn’t point a car out and say it’s Bucky’s, so you don’t know if he even has one.
From there, he walks you through the business floors, nodding to the few people that pass by. You notice the odd looks you get, though. Tony doesn’t bat a single eyelash.
It’s when Tony walks you through his lab again that you realize he’s stalling about something, but you say nothing, letting him do whatever it is he’s doing. As much as you hate to admit it, you’re kind of enjoying the tour.
The last stop is the balcony near the very top of the tower. It’s right outside Tony’s office, unsurprisingly, but you truthfully didn’t even notice it the first day you were here.
You take in the view of the city from here, the breeze on your cheeks. You have a feeling you’ll be sneaking in here more often than not to come out here.
“So… The results came in.”
Slowly, you look over at Tony. “The results?” You pause. “From the paternity test? Already?”
“Dr. Cho uses different technology here,” he shrugs. “It’s quicker.”
“Okay…” You murmur. “What’s the verdict?”
Tony chuckles as he takes his sunglasses off. “What do you think?” He pauses, looking down. “What do you want it to be?”
“I don’t know,” you answer honestly, leaning against the railing. “What did you want it to be?”
“I’ve always wanted to be a father,” he admits, surprising you. “But the fact that it never happened just told me I wasn’t cut out for it. And even now, I think that’s true. I mean, look at me,” he scoffs. “I didn’t even know I have a daughter until she’s almost twenty, and she had to come to me. I couldn’t even go to her.”
You stare out at the city, not blinking, not moving, barely breathing.
“I always said I’d try to be better than my dad if I was one,” he continues. “I’d be around more. I’d be more involved in my kid’s life than I would in my work. Guess that one didn’t work out.”
“If it makes you feel any better,” you chuckle, trying to slice through some of the awkward tension, “every time my mom told me you’re my dad, I...I would be two seconds away from telling her to go to hell. But I never did.” You shrug. “I never believed her, though, either.”
“Do you believe her now?”
“Hard to argue with science, I guess,” you admit. “We can ignore it, though, if you’d rather I just...quietly leave.”
Tony shakes his head. “No. No, I’m not gonna make you leave.”
“Okay.”
“You’re welcome to stay as long as you want,” he says. “And you can change rooms, too, just let me know. There’s bigger ones a few floors down that are empty. It’s just Bucky and Steve on one end.”
You snicker. “You sure you want me rooming on the same floor as them?”
“Yeah, you know what, I take that back,” he nods firmly. “You’re staying where you are.”
“You’re ridiculous.”
“I know,” he replies almost instantly.
Heavy silence settles over the two of you for a few moments. The city breeze is the only noise in your ears, aside from the car engines, but you’ve gotten good at tuning those out.
“You’re not gonna get pissed if I don’t call you dad, right?” You ask.
“As long as you don’t get pissed if I keep calling you munchkin.”
You sigh. Win some, lose some. “Fine.”
“Good deal,” Tony says with a nod.
“Can I ask something else?”
“Shoot.” He pushes away from the railing to face you instead, leaning his hip against the glass.
“Do you remember my mom at all?” Before he can reply, you say, “It’s fine if you don’t. I’m just curious.”
He hangs his head. “I don’t. I’m sorry, munchkin.”
You shrug. “Probably for the better, anyway.”
Tony stills. It’s the first time he’s ever heard you talk about your mom, really, but with what he knows, it only makes him more suspicious. FRIDAY won’t finish digging until sometime tonight or tomorrow, but the beginning of what she’s found doesn’t look positive. And neither does your current expression.

Creep 2: I don’t care if it hurts
Tumblr media
HIGH SCHOOL AU
Pairing: Drake Walker x MC  (Lexie O’Brien) Book TRR
MASTERLIST HERE
Synopsis: Drake and Lexie are star-crossed lovers. Her father hates him and forces Lexie to stop any contact with Drake. Lost and heartbroken, he “bullies” her for two years until he discovers the truth of Lexie’s behavior.
A/N 1 This came up to me after I got an ask from @nestledonthaveone to write a fic based on the song CREEP.
I used to hear this song when I was a teenager, so when I read this ask, I immediately wanted to write something angsty but situated in high school.
A/N 2: Because they’re younger than usual, I decided to change my  FC.
Words: 4,110
WARNINGS: Parental abuse, domestic violence, toxic love.
THIS IS NOT YOUR USUAL MARSHMALLOW DRAKE. He was abandoned as a boy, he’s tortured and he doesn’t know how to express his love. His behavior is not excusable.
This is a dark love story. If you’re not comfortable with it, PLEASE do not read it.
ALL MY FICS ARE 18+
TAGS ON THE COMMENTS
As this is darker than usual; I’m only tagging the people who commented in the previous chapter. If you want to get on or off the list for this fic, please do not hesitate to ask!!
DRAKE
Even if she never looks at me or speaks to me again, she’s mine. Even if I’ve been a horrible jerk to her for two years and she pales every time I pull into the parking lot on my motorcycle, she is mine. Just seeing her with him enrages me, so I walk straight toward my usual seat, directly behind Lexie, and slam my textbook down onto the desk.
Startled, Rys looks up at me, “Hey, Walker. What’s up?”
It’s not the first time he tries to make a move on Lexie. Last time –two years ago, we almost killed each other. Pretty boy might be an entitled ass, but he knows how to fight. Maybe he thinks Lexie is game again after all this time. He couldn’t be more wrong.
“Don’t you have a class this period?” I ask him. Liam cocks his left eyebrow, adjusting the straps of his backpack.
“I fail to see why that concerns you, Creep.”
My smile is murderous. “Get the fuck out of here before I break your face, pretty boy.”
I think he has a death wish because he looks at Lexie when he talks, “See you after class, Alexis, when your watchdog will be busy mowing my lawn.” Finally, he just shakes his head and gets out of the classroom. I resume my daily routine. Staring at the back of Lexie’s head, tracing the curve of her perfect neck, my cock getting hard over her perfect cherry scent.
“So that’s what you like,” I say, leaning forward to speak an inch from her ears. “You like them with blond hair and pink polo shirts. Prospects for Cambridge or shit. A huge trust fund. Don’t you? A brat like you needs someone who can spoil her. I bet you’d introduce him to daddy, wouldn’t you?”
She doesn’t respond. She never does. Her eyes stay stubbornly on the front of the class where the teacher has started writing today’s lesson on the board—my hands fist in desperation. I’m dying for her to talk to me. To look at me. Anything. “Too bad, Lexie. I’ll scare every single one of those fucking entitled boys off. You’re going to sit alone in your house on prom night, crying into your designer sheets like a baby. And I’m going to enjoy it.”
The only sign that she hears me at all is the quickening rise and fall of her shoulders. Even that tiny display that I’ve upset her is agonizing, floods me with self-loathing, but I can never stop. She ripped out my fucking heart, and I can’t deal with the consequences of that alone. I can’t let her go. I’ll never let her go. This toxic feeling is the only thing left between us. My hands shake with the urge to take her in my arms, to stop the trembling I caused. To protect her from everything. Even myself. I’d love to move my fingers up into the silky, brown hair that reaches the middle of her graceful neck. I don’t have a lot of money; most of the cash I earn as a handyman goes to food and fixing my dad’s cabin, but I’d give every last cent for her to turn and lock those soft brown eyes on me, just one last time. Sometimes when I jerk off, all it takes is fantasizing about Lexie looking at me, giving me one of those shy smiles, and I lose it. One stroke. Maybe two. Done. I can’t breathe without having her close. And I can’t breathe with her close. It’s a strange condition, this obsession, but she’s an addiction that I just can’t give up.
How could I? She’s intelligent, strong, and so damned gorgeous. Once upon a time, I thought she had a good heart too. But that was before she broke my pathetic heart only because I’m poor. I’ve been hurting since then, and I need her to hurt too. To know what it feels.
“Do you actually think that dumb rich boy would be a good choice for your first time, Lexie?” I grip my desk so tight it nearly breaks down, just thinking about her being kissed –touched by someone else. “At least that’s one thing us poor motherfuckers have going for us. We know how to fuck. If you went out with Rys for a while, you’d eventually give in and come slumming it one night, wouldn’t you? Knock on my rundown cabin door, begging me to fuck you as we both know you’d like.”
A pretty blush is starting to climb her neck. I have to take a deep breath to keep from kiss her pink cheeks. But I think if I got to touch her skin, my wall of bullshit would crumble. I’ve only fucked one girl. Since seeing Lexie for the first time freshman year, there’s been no one but her. I want no one else. She owns my cock as sure as she owns my heart. How easily she’s forgotten about both leaving me in agony.
“Stop,” she breathes. I freeze. Did she just speak to me? It’s the first time in two years that she’s even remotely acknowledged my existence.
“Lexie,” I managed to say. I’m sorry. I’m so fucking sorry. That’s all it took. One pleading word out of her mouth, and I’m done.
“Just stop,” she says again, turning her head slightly. “Please.”
I fall back in my chair, my heart thundering on my chest. If we weren’t in the middle of class, if I didn’t feel like a monster, I would pull her into my arms right now. I’d hug her until she stopped struggling, then beg her to hit me, bruise me, make me pay for every shitty thing I’ve ever said to her. But before long, the class is over, and she’s leaving the classroom to get out of here. To put distance between us as quickly as possible—and I have no choice but to watch her because I feel physically ill. Still, I manage to get out into the student-packed hallway, my plan to apologize for being crude and a jerk and torturing her for so long.
My head is telling me not to apologize, though. It’s telling me she deserved it for being such a snob, for breaking me, for valuing money and status like everyone else. My damned heart is telling an entirely different story. It’s insisting there is an explanation for her behavior. Am I going to apologize or not? The decision is taken out of my hands when Lexie opens her locker, and the little gift I left before class falls down. It’s a picture I cut out from our last yearbook. In the photo is a gorgeous smiling Lexie above the caption Most Likely to Succeed. Except I’ve crossed out the caption and added my own. Most Likely to Be a Trophy Wife. Watching her read it, I almost get sick right there in the hallway. Usually, she’s perfectly composed, not betraying a trace of emotion where I’m concerned—a real Ice queen. I’ve always thought she honestly didn’t care. Today, though… she’s not pulling it off. Something is not okay with her, and I don’t like it. She has to bite down on her bottom lip to stop it from quivering as she puts the photo back into her locker, out of sight, her bright eyes finding me briefly, massacring me where I stand. Betraying with one single look how much she has been affected by my actions. Christ. She hasn’t been indifferent at all.
Before I can react, before I can call her name, she’s gone, vanished into the crowd of wild students excited to be leaving for the day. And I know what I have to do. I have to see her. To apologize. To get an explanation for everything. Tonight. I’ll return to her house for the first time in two years.
LEXIE
I’ve known this was coming all day. Sitting on the couch in my living room, trying to make myself as small as possible, I watch my father pace. He rants, gesticulating noisily. This isn’t new, my father’s rage threatening me. But it’s going to be worse than usual. Business has declined for him and it’s put his temper on a trigger. Dad’s new wife, Nancy, hates to be on a budget, and she’s been spending his money like crazy all over Paris --where she’s now. When dad gets home from the office, he’s rarely in anything but a horrible mood. A tornado eating up everything in its path. Completely terrifying. At least dad’s temper makes me forget what Drake told me today, the ugly words he said to me, the boiling anger in his eyes when he looks at me.
“Are you even listening?” The slap across the face comes as a shock because I’d momentarily disappeared into my thoughts, but the sting quickly brings me back to reality.
“Yes, sir,” I say, my ears ringing. “I’m listening.”
“This C on your algebra test is going to drag your whole average down.” He’s waving the test in my face. “What a disappointment you are, Alexis. Your teacher shared my disgust.” I nod solemnly, but I’m listening for the rain outside. “I guess you’re your daughter’s mother after all. A poor Mexican girl who could barely count.” It’s not true. My mom learned English and Greek by herself, and she was a great Spanish teacher in Portavira, but my father would rather die than acknowledge how smart she was.
“Don’t talk like that about her,” I retort.
My father snorts. “I beg your pardon?” He takes a step towards me, and I can see the threat in his eyes.
“I’m sorry.” I hate to be such a coward, but I know what he can do to me.” I’ll do extra credit. Something to bring my grade back up to an A.” I wet my lips. “Even if I can’t manage to raise the grade, it’s not going to show up on the college transcripts I sent off with my applications.” That’s the reason I let my focus slip a little in algebra. The finish line is in sight for everyone, and we’re just waiting to find out where we’ll be accepted for college. It’s a wonder I’ve been able to maintain my focus this long in any class, considering Walker sits behind me in every period, brooding making me feel … something. At the reminder of him, I want to close my eyes and dream about him. I replay that night in my garden when he kissed me two years ago, so tenderly and passionately, when he spoke to me so sweetly and honestly before he became the second villain in my story. Someone I dread, as much as I crave the sight of him.
At least that’s one thing us poor motherfuckers have going for us. We know how to fuck. If you went out with that punk for a while, you’d eventually give in and come slumming it one night, wouldn’t you? Knock on my trailer door, begging me to ride you right.
Should I be ashamed of the way my body reacted to those words? I grew uncomfortably damp in the hard plastic chair, the center of my body clenching, seeming to beat like a heart. His breath on my neck made me shiver, head to toe. Even the way he scared off Liam Rys did something to me. Aroused me. Deeply. It got so bad that I broke the rules and asked him to stop. I can still hear him saying my name in that tortured way after. That shocked, uneven sound. Lexie. And whether I’m ashamed of myself for it or not, I know I’ll think of it when I touch myself tonight. His voice, his hands, his eyes obsess me.
“College?” My father snorts, tearing the test in half. “You’re not going to college.”
This grabs my attention. A horrible feeling is making me cold. “I’m…what? What do you mean? I applied to nine different schools. I have a four-point five GPA.”
For the first time, I notice his red face is about more than just rage. There’s…humiliation. I’ve never seen him display that emotion.
“None of the American colleges that accepted you offered scholarships.”
“I’ve been accepted?” I gasp, sitting forward, heart pounding in my chest. “Where? I didn’t see the letters—”
“All the mail in this house goes through me, Alexis. I read them. And you failed to get academic scholarships. You failed. Not that I’m surprised.”
I don’t point out that his refusal to let me participate in any extracurricular activities is more than likely to blame for that. I’m too worried about what he’s saying, what this means. The blood is draining from my head, making the room spin around me.
“Okay, I’m sorry about that. I’m sorry. But…we have money. We can pay tuition, can’t we? Or colleges in Cordonia are almost for free. I can go to any of them; I don’t have to go to NYU.” I have to get out of here. I have to get out of here. This is my way out. College is the escape route. I counted on going back to New York, but I can stay here and go to college in Cordonia City.
“Listen to you, so quick to spend my hard-earned money—spoiled brat. And of course, you can’t go to college in Cordonia. What for? To end up being a schoolteacher like your mom? A housewife as Nancy?” He laughs bitterly. “No, you’ll stay here, and I’ll help you find someone suitable to marry.”
I shake my head. “There’s financial aid, then. Loans or I can get a job and go to college in Portavira…”
“You want to leave, just like her, don’t you? You’re all the same.”
I don’t even flinch when he yanks me to my feet, shoving me into the wall. In fact, for the first time, I took him right into his eyes. And I can see the violence burning on them has nothing to do with me. It never had anything to do with how I behave, my choices, how hard I worked in school. How welcome I made Nancy feel or cooked a roast. It’s about him and his self-loathing. It’s his sickness. Not mine. I can also see that he was never going to send me to college. Because he wouldn’t be able to control me from a distance or stop me from sharing what I’ve been subjected to since my mother died. Not like he does now. He wasn’t physically abusive all the time. Especially not when his new wife is around. But she traveled often, and then he’d push me. Shove me. Slapped me several times. I’ll graduate at the top of my class for nothing. He knew I would all along.
That’s when I realize I’m free. I don’t have money, but college is free in Cordonia. I can work, save a little and go to college in one or two years. I’ll be a writer; it’ll just take more time than I thought. “Go to hell,” I whisper.
He steps back, giving me the momentary satisfaction of his shock. “What did you say?”
Liberated, I scream it this time. “Go to hell!” From the moment I sat down to have this conversation, I knew tonight would be worse than usual, but I’ve just bought myself a ticket to hell. Usually, I can retreat to the untouchable place inside of me as he unleashes his rage, but not tonight. He doesn’t stop at one or two slaps. He punches and kicks, and I’m present for every punch and kick. Every yelled insult. Finally, I start to get scared. I’m crawling across the carpet on my hands and knees, searching for a weapon I can use in my defense when I glance out the window and see Drake staring back at me, his face a mask of horror.
 Drake
What I’m seeing just isn’t possible. It can’t be real. My head won’t accept it. Not until her terror-filled eyes meet mine through the window and the truth pounds on my chest, leaves no doubt that this is real life. Lexie’s father is beating her. Her mouth is bloody, one of her eyes beginning to swell, arms and legs visibly weakened. I can barely fucking process it before my body is springing into action, desperate to protect her. To put a stop to the worst thing I have ever seen. What the fuck. Scorching hot rage takes over. I kick in the front door and throw myself between Lexie and her father. His fist is raised, but it pauses when he sees me, his momentary confusion giving me the time I need to knock him out cold. It only takes one right uppercut from someone his own size, and he goes down, his blank, glassy eyes staring at nothing, mouth opened. It’s not satisfying enough.
Nothing will ever be satisfying enough. I want to kill him, destroy him, but my Lexie is struggling for breath behind me, and she’s all I can think about. Turning, I approach her, my heart threatening to jump off my chest. As gently as I can, I catalog all of the cuts and purpling skin. No. No. Who could do this to her? Who could lay a finger on her in anything but reverence? Get her out of here. Calling her name, I reach down to pick her up, but she flinches and hurries back, bringing her body up against the wall.
“Don’t touch me!” Those words filled with fear rip the soul clean out of my body. My hands drop limply to my sides and two years come rushing back, hitting me in the chest like a hammer. Every word, every action. Everything I did to make her life harder when this is what she’s been dealing with at home? Fuck me.
“Lexie…” My voice is as kind as I can. I feel broken. “I’m sorry. I came here to apologize. For everything.”
She puffs a humorless laugh, testing her cut lip with the tip of her tongue. “Bet you weren’t expecting to see this.”
“If I knew this was happening, I would have been here a long time ago. I would have stopped it. I swear Lex.”
Her expression can only be described as stunned. Maybe even a little pissed. “You are not my savior, Drake. You are my enemy. You’ve been for two years, and I want nothing else from you now.”
“I am not your enemy.” Those words barely make it out of me, my chest hurts so fucking bad. “Don’t say that.”
Unsteadily, she uses the wall to try and stand. I try to help her, but she recoils, and it’s a dagger straight into the center of my throat. Nothing less than I deserve, though, isn’t it? Her distrust of me is entirely my fault. I’ve made her hate me. There has to be some way to fix what I’ve done. Please God, let there be away. But right now, my main concern is her physical safety. Knowing she’s been in danger all along is unbearable. I only decided to come here tonight a few hours ago. What if I didn’t? What if I arrived an hour later? The possibilities are going to haunt me for the rest of my life. From the floor, her father groans, shifting slightly.
“We need to get you out of here,” I say, anxious to get her free of this place. “Now, Lexie. I need to get you somewhere safe.”
She’s standing now. Leaning against the wall and cradling one arm to her stomach, regarding me warily. “How do I know I’m safe with you?” It’s so much worse that her question is honest. Not meant to hurt me. She honestly doesn’t know if I pose a threat. It guts me where I stand.
“You are the safest with me,” I say thickly, cursing myself. Wanting to erase the last two years so badly, my hands shake. “Please believe me. I’d die before hurting you. I’d never, Lexie. I’d never do something like that.”
Her father rolls over onto his back and slurs a few words before losing consciousness again. Still, the sound of the older man’s voice seems to scare Lexie, “I…maybe you can just give me a ride to…a motel maybe?” She pushes off the wall, her step uneven as she walks toward the stairs. “I need some things from my room.”
It’s on the tip of my tongue to tell her we don’t have time, but I’m just grateful she’s trusting me enough to leave with me, so I don’t argue. I just wait until she’s halfway up the stairs, then tie her father’s hands behind his back with my belt in case he wakes up before we leave. I have no problem knocking him out a second time, but Lexie has seen enough violence for one night. Cautiously, I walk up the stairs toward the light coming from a room halfway down the hall. This place is a far cry from my home. It’s elegant and clean, and tasteful, but it lacks any warmth whatsoever. It’s cold, like a museum. Turning the corner into Lexie’s room, it’s time to hate myself all over again. There is nothing on the walls, none of the expensive furnishings. Just four white walls, a bed, and a dresser that doubles as a desk. Several textbooks. She looks back at me over her shoulder as if judging my reaction, and I keep my features impassive, though I’m dying on the inside.
“What can I do?” I ask.
“How long do we have?”
“As long as you need.” It’s physically painful not to pull her into my arms when I’m standing this close, and she’s hurt. Sad. Yet full of more inner strength than I’ve ever witnessed in another human being. I’m lucky just to be in her presence. I fucked up royally. And if she allows me back in, I’ll never do it again. It’s probably, definitely, too much to hope for. Being allowed back in. She doesn’t even look sure about having me in her room. Let alone her heart. I was trying to protect my own heart, but I lost it instead.
“Um…” She closes her eyes to focus, a familiar trait I’ve seen in class countless times. “There is a black bag in the hallway closet. Can you just stuff anything into it from the bathroom that looks useful?”
Ask me to bring you a unicorn. I’ll find a way to do it. “Sure.” We work in silence, Lexie taking things out of drawers and adding them to the bag, which I’ve left open on the floor. I add toiletries from the bathroom, and once it’s zipped, I wait, watching her hesitate in the doorway.
“Lexie?” Conflicted chocolate eyes meet mine.
“I can’t just leave, can I?”
“You’re not safe here, baby,” I say softly, trying to keep the residual rage at bay because it’s the last thing she needs. Not to mention she’s had her fill with negativity from me. No more. “How long…how long?”
She shrugs, the saddest expression in her eyes. “My mom died five years ago. Ever since then, it’s gotten worse and worse. Although I never had a chance to talk to anyone about what happened behind closed doors, you know? I don’t think a person can evolve into a monster. It’s inside him.”
 “I don’t know,” I say. “I became one, didn’t I?”
That gives her pause, forms a line between her delicate brows. “Yeah. I guess you’re right.”
She starts to walk past me, stops, standing close enough to fill my nose with cherry. “He told me if I ever spoke to you ever again, he would hurt me. Ruin you, have you evicted. Make sure you never got hired again. I didn’t mean to…hurt you. Or hurt your feelings, if that’s what happened.”
That revelation destroys me, sets me on fire. “Jesus, Lexie. You were protecting me? And I…I tortured you for it?” I twist the neck of my T-shirt, trying to calm down, but it doesn’t work. I’ll never be calm again “I’m so fucking sorry.”
She glances at the doorway, then back at me, eyes closed again in that way that says she’s thinking. “All I want from you now is a ride out of here, okay? And on Monday morning, you’ll stop.” She opens her shining eyes again. “No more bullying, Drake. If you’re really sorry, you’ll do that for me.”
Fuck. I couldn’t say one more single shitty thing to her if my life depended on it. Put me at gunpoint, and I’d rather get shot at than torture this girl for one more second. But I’m highly, painfully aware that with an end to the bullying comes an end to the possessiveness. No more scaring off guys who show interest in her. No more getting close enough in class to count the hairs on her head, to smell her sweet fragrance. And to tell the truth, I’m pretty fucking worried I don’t know how to give those things up completely. I don’t think I can physically do it. This addiction with Lexie isn’t something I can cut off. A leg would be easier to sever. But my hesitation is causing her eyes to worry. If I don’t agree to, essentially, let her go… she’s not going anywhere with me. And that means her safety won’t be guaranteed. I need it to be. More than anything.
“No more bullying,” I say, finally. A moment later, I follow her out of the room and down the stairs, trying desperately to count the hairs on her head before I no longer have the chance.

She-Ra High School Theatre Kid AU Headcanons
I made this because I am a theatre kid, and me and my sister were talking about Double Trouble being a theatre kid, so this happened. We basically came up with this entire au while we walked our dog.
Also I know none of this stuff would ever happen in real life, but it’s fanfiction, let me have this
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO
Angella as the director
Shadow Weaver as the assistant director
Horde Prime is the principal who is very not supportive of the arts
Hordak is the head of tech
Castaspella runs costumes
Huntara is the choreographer
Actors:
Catra - Has been in love with theatre since she was a kid, wants to be an actress when she grows up. She’s only ever cast as the villain/antagonist because she’s so good at playing those roles, but she’s not complaining. Shadow Weaver hates her and constantly talks down to her whenever Angella’s not around. Really good singer.
Double Trouble - Also in love with theatre. Brings the drama. Really good at whatever role they receive. Always competes with Sea Hawk for the lead role regardless of gender.
Sea Hawk - Theatre kid is his entire personality and he lives for it. Competes with Double Trouble for the lead role regardless of gender. Loves roles that get to do fight choreography. Has a habit of setting at least one prop, set, or costume on fire every show. No one knows how, and honestly, neither does he.
Glimmer - Director kid vibes, we’ve all met one. You know what I’m talking about. Usually gets a big speaking role, but not the lead. Jealous of Catra bc Glimmer thinks the villains get better songs. Catra agrees and holds it over her head constantly. Has a habit of being an “actor director” sometimes, but never in a mean or condescending way, and most of the time Angella was going to give the same note. Most of the time.
Bow - Actor/Techie. Auditions for a role, but if he doesn’t get one, he’ll do tech. He doesn’t have a preference, he just likes being a part of the process and being with his friends. One of the only basses in the department.
Mermista - Actor/stage manager. Even when she has a role in the current show, Mermista is still the stage manager bc she’s the only one who can deal with and control everyone’s shit(aka Sea Hawk level shenanigans). Actually a really good actor when she puts effort into her roles, but it has to be for a show she actually likes.
Kyle - Usually ensemble, but sometimes he has small speaking roles. Famous for breaking or losing props.
Techies:
Entrapta - Sound/lights. Works with Hordak, they’re close friends. He’s dreading her graduation bc she’s the only who actually understands how to run the systems. She insists she’ll be back tho.
Scorpia - Build crew. Stronk. Nuff said. Started bc she wanted to support Catra, and kept doing it bc she thought the head costumer was cute.
Adora - Also build crew. Again, stronk. Paints occasionally because that was her first choice, but they lack muscle strength in build. Can only get away with painting if Lonnie is there that day. Joined to watch Catra and Catra only. Has only listed to the songs that Catra sings in her role. Has never listened to a full Broadway album. Glimmer is disappointed.
Lonnie - Build crew. Not that interested but comes to support her friends when she doesn’t have lacrosse practice. Never runs a show, but watches every night.
Rogelio - Paint crew. Adora lost an arm wrestling contest to him, and he got first choice. She’s forever salty for it but too nice to argue.
Perfuma - Head of costumes. Castaspella and her get along great, they practically have the same personality. Crushing on Scorpia.
Frosta - Costumes. Cousins with Mermista. Comes bc she heard about the chaos and drama that goes down. Will run shows if she doesn’t have hockey practice.
Swift Wind - Fly.
Now for the plot:
The show for the year: Wicked
Cast
Glinda - Double Trouble
Elphaba - Catra
Fiyero - Sea Hawk
Boq - Kyle
Nessa - Glimmer
Madame Morrible - Mermista
The Wizard - Bow
But then two tragedies occurred
Tragedy 1: Angella had to step down as director bc Micah was in the hospital or something idk
Tragedy 2: 2 days later, Sea Hawk breaks his leg pretty bad and he won’t be better in time for the show
Le gasp
So Shadow Weaver takes over as director
Some Shadow Weaver background info: She was a famous actress many years ago and thinks this high school production stuff is below her. She still has a lot of connections to the professional world that she uses from time to time. She wants Adora to follow in her footsteps as a famous actor despite Adora being an incredibly bad actor. She hates that Adora does crew and not acting, but couldn’t do anything about it. Until now.
Now that she’s director and they’re down a Fiyero, she basically forces Adora to play Fiyero, despite the other capable actors who could’ve done it and Adora’s own protests. Think something like: “why can’t bow do it? I’ll be the wizard if there really aren’t enough actors!” “Oh no, bow is the only one who can hit the wizards notes bla bla bla”
Adora doesn’t want to do it, but she also doesn’t want the department to not be able to do the show. Plus she would get to hang out with Catra a lot which would be cool
I’m guessing you can already tell where the conflict is coming from, but we had some very clear ideas of stuff that happened, like
Adora was behind bc she wasn’t going to play the role originally, she’s never acted before, and she can’t dance. So she has a lot of one on one practices with Huntara, the choreographer. Before getting the role, the only practices Adora would watch if she didn’t have crew were the dance practices. She went purely to watch Catra, but Catra thinks that she has a crush on Huntara.
Tension and miscommunication, y’know?
Bow and Glimmer are both very supportive but also nervous bc they know that Adora is extremely bad at acting
Sea Hawk has never seen Adora try to act before, so he doesn’t see what the issue is. Once he’s well enough to go to school again, he comes to every rehearsal even tho he can’t be in the show. And then he sees. And then he’s like, oh no.
But he tries to be supportive and pump Adora up.
Adora is feeling a lot of pressure bc of her new role and doesn’t want to screw things up for everyone.
Catra is a little pissed off that she’s been paired up with someone who can’t act for her senior show, so she’s a little snippy at first, and Adora is tense, and it’s a mess
But Shadow Weaver doesn’t care, and ends up blaming every problem they have during an acting scene with Adora and Catra on Catra, even though she’s the best actor in the department. Because ✨favoritism✨
And you know, they do the whole hot-cold, she hates me, she’s cute, I love her but she doesn’t like me, bla bla bla throughout the course of the show
A week before opening night, Shadow Weaver makes things worse by mentioning that she invited her friend who’s a talent scout to watch the show. Shadow Weaver wants the scout to help get Adora into the acting business.
Catra wants to use this opportunity to get her name out there, so she needs her performance to be perfect
Which is hard to do when her love interest couldn’t act her way out of a paper bag
It’s two days before the show and they still haven’t practiced the kiss scene. Every time they brought it up before, like “should we practice the kiss? I mean, only if you want we don’t have to”, they both got the impression that the other didn’t want to kiss them
(Useless lesbians)
So it’s 2 days before the show, and Shadow Weaver is like, you gotta practice the kiss
So they kiss, and Catra is like, whoa she’s a really good kisser, so she’s quiet after the kiss
And of course, Adora takes that silence as “she hated the kiss and she hates me” as you do
So their practices the next two days are even worse than they were before
Finally, it’s opening night. The scout is coming and they’re out of time. Shadow Weaver ends up shoving Catra and Adora into a closet. She does her whole “you don’t want to let me, your friends, or the audience down do you? Whatever’s distracting you needs to go” to Adora, and then she turns to Catra and is like “fix what you’ve done, I know you sabotaged her you useless child. You’re going to be the reason this show goes horribly” and then she leaves
AND CATRA AND ADORA ACTUALLY TALK I KNOW IM SHOCKED TOO
Adora’s like, sorry I’ve been so weird the past two days, I just realized I really like you after we kissed, but I know you don’t feel that way about me, sorry if that makes it weird
And Catra’s like, Adora you idiot I love you
And they kiss
And Bow finds them still kissing in the closet 20 minutes before the show opens and rushes them to Castaspella to get their make up fixed
It ends up being Adora’s best performance because every time they’re about to go on for a scene together, Catra tells her to forget about the audience and just focus on her
The scout ended up liking Catra and Double Trouble a lot to Shadow Weaver’s disappointment
Facts that aren’t important to the main plot, but definitely happened
One time, before Sea Hawk broke his leg, Catra was trying out her harness for the defying gravity and other flying scenes, and Swift Wind, who does fly, accidentally dropped her and she landed on Adora
No Good Deed was the best moment in the show, and the amount of emotion Catra was able to put into her performance during that song was a little frightening but also made a lot of people tear up
The second best scene in the show was surprisingly As Long as you’re Mine, because Adora was actually able to forget about the audience and just focus on her love for Catra
The show last year was Mean Girls. Catra was Regina. Glimmer was Gretchen(you can’t argue that she doesn’t give off, “I don’t think my father, the inventor of toaster stroodle, would be very pleased to hear about this” vibes). Mermista was surprisingly amazing as Karen, and played her deadpan perfectly. No one knows how she did it. Sea Hawk was Cady, Double Trouble was Janice, and Bow was Damien. They reference their experiences during this show during Wicked, but the only thing Adora remembers about that production is how hot Catra was during World Burn.
Ironically (or unironically, idk), Glimmer once said “I don’t think my mother, the director of the show, will be very pleased to hear about this” to an actor who was found sabotaging Catra’s mic for the show before Mean Girls. Catra thought Shadow Weaver put her up to it but there was no proof.
Princess Prom but making it Dancing Through Life
Or is it Dancing Through Life but make it Princess Prom
If someone wants to write this, please do, just send me the link so I can read it! I would write it myself but I’m lazy lol.

Now, I come mid-week to give you all of my DSMP/MCYT headcanons because I have many
Don’t mind if these are repeated, misspelt, or has no logic, it is block game things and I am not checking over them-- and some will be organized, and some will be random, some might not have a Enter space because these are all ctrl c + ctrl v’ed from a Discord server I am in :]
Skeppy headcanons: Skeppy is 4 billion years old as scientists have thought that is how long ores and diamonds existed for
Skeppy's species is pretty rare
Every diamond that is broken or damaged causes Skeppy to feel a physical pain in his body
His species has lamp tail as they don't have night vision, some of them also have tiny wings that aren't usable, though they can kinda glide short distances with them
Because of his small height, he has taught himself magic to be able to change size, it can hurt him if he goes taller than 5'3, but he is able to get to Foolish's height if he tried
Sometimes random crystals grow on Skeppy's face, though they look different from normal crystals and can be used for things like explosives, though he doesn't know about it
Techno has seen Kristen but doesn't remember it well, though Kristen gave him his crown as a gift
Techno has a collection of skull masks that he has worn, he wears the skulls because of nostalgia now but he used to wear them because he thought they were cool and made him look threatening
Technoblade, Skeppy, Sam, Ranboo, Michael(the son- not Michaelmcchill), Phil, Bad, and some others really like shiny and golden objects
DreamSMP theme/"timeline" is kind of like a steampunk like thing
Drista is DreamXD's sister and DristaXD is Dream's "sister", though they aren't really siblings as they are robots
Drista and DreamXD are clones of DristaXD and Dream, though they actually look nothing alike
Callahan is a mute mini-god that everyone knows exists but doesn't really understand they are a mini-god. They kind of just chill and do what people ask them to do
Phil: Phil is more into traveling than anything else
Though he doesn't mind being a father figure, he doesn't think he is a good one especially after he killed Wilbur
He is able to turn into the size of a crow, though since his wings are now unusable, he doesn't do it as often as it is basically useless
Phil sometimes takes bird baths, though I guess they are always called that-
He has bird legs/talons,but they aren’t fully noticeable
joke headcanon I thought of is that Phil's handwriting is chicken-scratch because he is half-crow
Phil has really good memory, as a crow would
-DreamXD is actually pretty weak in powers, but he acts like he is the strongest person in the server
-Tommy's eye is just completely gone from when Dream killed him, but he covers it with an eyepatch
-Tubbo talks about things to Ranboo thinking he'll forget them, but some stories Ranboo remembers but doesn't speak about it because he doesn't want to make Tubbo worry too much
-Philza wasn't willing to kill Wilbur so Wilbur forced Phil by grabbing his arm and impaling himself
-Dream and Techno sometimes share stories about having ADHD
-Phil didn't really know about Fundy, he knew he existed but had no idea to how he acted, looked, or his actual name
-Wilbur had a letter written to Fundy about how he was sorry for what he was gonna do during November 16th, but the withers blew it up before Fundy knew about it
-Fundy doesn't let anyone hold his hand because it makes him remember the past where he would hold Wilbur's hand a lot
-Change of headcanons: Schlatt and Puffy are cousins, Tubbo was just a random kid that would follow Schlatt for hours a day, waiting for him to acknowledge him
-Dream jumps into the lava in the prison as it reminds him of Sapnap
-Bad was uncomfortable when Sapnap married Big Q and Karl because he went on a date with Quackity before but he still supported them (Yes I know Big Q basically had a divorce with Sap and Karl--)
-Skeppy knows a lot about other's pasts because of how old he is, even traumatizing facts
-Skeppy has a fear of fire (Pyrophobia) and he is kind of scared of Sapnap
-Dream used the revivebook on the cat Tommy killed, but Sam killed it thinking Dream would use the cat against Sam to escape quicker in the future
-Dream doesn't *fully* know why he is in prison, ever since Tommy and Tubbo killed him, a wire/chip broke in his body which made him forget a lot of things. Dream does get told what he had done a lot, but it makes him almost have a panic attack because he thought he was a pretty good person
-Ghostbur is Callahan, they were commanded by DreamXD to become Ghostbur so that everyone could feel like he was still there (Callahan can change who they are completely, but they don't actually know how they acted when as Ghostbur, though that doesn't mean he didn't know what happened, when Dream killed/revived Ghostbur, Callahan got to see what it felt like to die for the first time)
-Fundy has the habit of picking up things and using them at some sort of fidget (examples: knives, leaves, grass, wood, pencils, berry stems, etc.
-Ranboo will be writing/saying something about someone and use pronouns instead of their name or just with the person's name (example: "Puffy she/her was--" or "he/him writing down things") [Basically canon-]
-Tubbo used to headbutt people but stopped after around 2 years because he kept hurting people
-Phil used to squawk randomly when he was a kid, but he mainly just squawks when hiccuping now
-Even though Bad used to get really nervous picking people up because he was afraid he was gonna drop and kill them, he now just picks up everyone randomly... except Foolish and Ranboo
-Foolish is able to shrink to around 7ft, and unless he is building a big build, he will shrink so he can get around easier
-Because Ranboo is only half enderman, he isn't the full height of an enderman (He is only 8'5)
-If someone asks Charlie about his pronouns, out of confusion, he just responds with "Bones!" which sometimes leads Las Nevadas members (or just anyone really) calling him by He/it/Bones
-When Bad was being controlled by the egg, it made him get even more flashbacks about how his species was supposed to act which would end up with him panicking because that isn't who he wants to be (bonus: The more a member infected by the egg would panic, the more the egg would be able to take over the person because they can't focus)
-Kristin has taught Phil how to do makeup in their free-time of hanging out
-Kristin is insanely tall, if she shrinks then she turns more transparent, so she ends up looking more like a ghost when at average height
-Skeppy can't cry, though he still can feel sad
-Bad and Eret talk to eachother quite a lot
-When Tubbo was around 11-14, he would make redstone contraptions, though he doesn't remember how to make most of them now
Ranboo doesn't like photoshoots because he feels like everyone is staring at him, though this does mean he just doesn't have a passport photo, his alternative was to draw what he looked like on the passport but they didn't allow it, as well as Ranboo doesn't really remember what he looks like anyway because they don't like looking in mirrors--
I think this is half-canon but another headcanon is where every SMP is just an island far away from others. In this case, Hermitcraft, 30 day SMP, and other SMPs are all linked up, as for people who are in multiple SMPs, they travel around by boat for awhile, now, the thing I've just not figured out is how tf their look magically changes-like- outfit is decently obvious-- but do they magically transform like an anime girl? Idk-
Skeppy's voice randomly glitches out, is there an actual reason for this? No.
Quackity’s outfit is similar to Sub Urban’s (In Freak)
Skeppy acts as if he is royalty, he doesn't act rude or demanding unless joking- but he does act as if he is the superior person-
-Skeppy and Slime are the only "people" that don't have steampunk styled clothing because of how old they are
-Skeppy's hair grows insanely quickly and no one knows why, he honestly hates it
-Most of Skeppy's outfits have been made by Bad or Puffy
-Skeppy knows DreamXD as if he is a brother, but he despises him because of something that has happened around 3,000 years ago
-Skeppy has a lot of different shades in their hair on the "inside"(like- the side where his neck is is what I mean, I don't remember if it has a name or not-)
-Like I've said before, Skeppy's eyes are crystallized, but they are somewhat transparent, not enough to where you'd be able to see the inside of his head, but they are still transparent
-In the past, Skeppy didn't like their name which is why they called himself "Skeppy"
-He has an attachment to caves
-When Skeppy was a kid, they had the dream of him filling cave walls with houses of their own
-Skeppy goes by it/they/he
-Skeppy joke flirts with Bad all the time to confuse everyone, Bad doesn't like it because then everyone thinks they are dating which makes him feel a little uncomfortable
-Out of boredom, in the past, Skeppy would climb on the roofs of caves, hang upside down, and try and sleep like a bat
-They have no blood in his body, it is literally just a diamond covered with a thin layer of skin and hair
-Skeppy gets stressed out easily when it comes to learning because it just reminds him of everything he had to get used to as the billion of years he lived went by
-Skeppy used to not be allowed out into the open world, the first time it experienced going outside was when it was 2 billion years old
-Skeppy has accidentally caught things on fire during the day because of the reflecting of the sun, but even then, they are nocturnal so they don't really have to worry about it
-Wilbur adapted to hanging out with Sally in the water, he has some gills, but he can only breathe underwater for a bit longer with them
-Skeppy always has the equivalent of Diamond (armor) except when he was infected by the egg, he was equivalent to the strength of a Ruby
-Infected Skeppy has a redstone glow when touched, so when hugged(or hive fived- or- yeah you get the point), he would give a subtle glow around him until let go
-The Eggpire still can be controlled, but they are able to control it unless angered/upset
-Skeppy was 6ft when infected, now he is 3′9 un-infected
-At this point, Dream likes the prison because he sometimes feels safe there, like no one can hurt him
-DristaXD is more of a ghost robot than an actual robot
-DristaXD's hobby is murdering people and has basically been in some sort of jail before, she has broken chains around their ankles and hands, it seems to have been made of a really strong material as wel
-Sapnap used to have fire wings, but when he had to get extinguished, they disappeared, they are still there, they just aren't visible until dunked in lava and Sapnap can't use them anymore
-Infected Bad still took care of Sapnap, but Sapnap never cared
-Sapnap takes the name "lava cake" too seriously... though he thinks the literal lava cakes he makes taste good
-Puffy's hair has been dyed blue by Ghostbur before because he wanted people to remember Friend if they ever disappeared
-Going with my Ghostbur as Callahan hc, when Ghostbur was killed, Callahan kind of glitched between realities and so Ghostburs body glitched from Callahan's body and Ghostbur's then just disappeared. Callahan is still alive but they randomly glitch into different realities, he has glitched into places Karl has gone, including The Inbetween.
-When Ghostbur was glitching back into Callahan after killed, it shocked and concerned Dream
There you go :]

here’s a list of the best, mediocre and worst kdramas i watched in 2020
no one asked for this but it’s happening because i have thoughts (also all opinions are my own if you disagree then get well soon i guess... no i’m kidding make your own posts about it don’t hate me please) ahsjsj anyways click to read a lengthy post and if you actually read the whole thing then thank you i hope you enjoy this wild ride!
THE BEST KDRAMAS -
mystic pop up bar - this show had everything i ask from a kdrama literally i can name it all found family (to real family), well thought out characters, a mystery plot, special effects, soft romances that were well written, a happy ending! no show in 2020 even comes close to how good this one was! the writers literally guided you throughout the whole thing so you could come up with theories and didn’t do a ‘aha! gotcha’ thing where they want to prove the audience wrong but they wanted us to be right and satisfied! the worst part about the drama is that it’s still so underrated and people just brush it off as some random fantasy show but it’s so much more than that! 1000/10
flower of evil - who doesn’t want to see lee joon gi being the son of a serial killer, living with the name of a man who is in a coma, and hiding his real identity from his wife who is a detective? this show constantly had me at the edge of my seat on a weekly basis so the emotions i went through while watching this are unparalleled! the writers also did such a good job on writing a coherent story that made sense and tied up all the plot points in the end. just a really satisfying show to watch! 10/10
where your eyes linger - i literally bought a $8 viki pass to watch this show so it should tell you everything you need to know about how i feel ahsjsj the episodes were 10 minutes long but we got a good story with well written characters who got character development in a total of 80 minutes it’s insane! honestly it’s still hard to believe this show had rookie actors because they were just so emotive that you could feel all the happiness, sadness, yearning and pining! probably one of my fave kdramas this year because of the acting that i always constantly rewatch! would recommend 10/10
crash landing on you - okay so this drama was actually released on my birthday last year and it was a time in my life when i was going through a lot so maybe it’s the comfort this show provided me through that time this is why i have such a soft spot for it? like the romance was good, it was funny, there was found family, the nk soldiers were all softies, there were strong female leads, soft male leads!!! ahh!! no other show on this list made me think about the unification of south korea and north korea irl because i wanted se ri and jeong hyeok to be together 4ever! but the only issue i had with this show was the ending they gave seung jun if they didn’t do that i’d give this show a 10/10 but just for that they get a 9/10
psycho but it’s okay - this was one of those shows where you’re literally like ‘wow everyone here needs therapy’ but this show was amazing i loved the story telling and how each episode related to children’s book/fairytales! the writers also did a good job with how carefully they talked about mental health in depth without villainising their characters but actually tried to make the audience understand why they were this way which included all the side characters too who had a well thought out story in each episode! also the dynamic between moon young, kang tae and sang tae was everything to me the actors all did an amazing job portraying their characters, it truly was a healing drama. the only thing i didn’t like about this show was the whole plastic surgery plot with the mother like that was very far fetched but it provided drama so i’ll let it slide because the rest was amazing. this show is a solid 8.5/10
18 again - another underrated gem! who would’ve thought a remake of that zac efron movie could be this good!! lee do hyun stole this show for sure the way he portrayed his character and gave heart eyes to his kids (when he’s only 25 irl was the best thing i saw this year ahsjs) i loved the family dynamics in this show, i loved how it talked about what it’s like to be young parents and how society still think it’s taboo to be divorced! it’s a show that makes you laugh and cry at the same time and that’s why everyone should watch it! however, the biggest clown thing this show did to me though was that i got sls for the first time while watching a kdrama... hwang in yeop if u’re reading this i love u and u deserved better 🤡 that aside this show was a 8/10
itaewon class - i actually didn’t watch this drama as it was airing because i thought i wouldn’t enjoy the plot but when i watched it i binged the whole thing in 2 days and my biggest regret is i didn’t watch it sooner! everyone knows i have a soft spot for park seo joon since he’s my favourite actor i’ve literally watched all his dramas like he could star in the trashiest drama out there and i’d still watch it and be like wow (looking at she was pretty 👀) this show aside from the acting had one of the best revenge plots in a kdrama! just watching a character realistically hustle his way to reach the top while fighting the corrupt man whose son killed his father was so so satisfying to watch! however, the love triangle in this show was questionable idk what they were trying to do with that but it personally annoyed me! but still i’ll give this show a 7.5/10 because i enjoyed it a lot!
do you like brahms? - kim min jae and park eun bin.. that’s all you need to know about why this is a good kdrama! i’m usually not a big fan of melodramas and everyone knows i prefer rom coms but this show was just so perfectly melo that i loved all the angst and pain we got!! also just watching two introverted people awkwardly fall in love was amazing! the characters story arcs were also handled pretty well with song ah finally learning to speak up for herself and joon young learning to express how he truly feels! but... the love square? was probably the most annoying thing the rest in my opinion was nicely done! i know people had mixed feelings about the ending but i loved that after all the pain joon young and song ah went through they got a happy ending together! 7/10
find me in your memory - okay this show started off very slow and it was confusing at the start but as it progressed everything in the plot started to fall into place! i mean this show really took opposites attract to a new level where the male lead could remember every single detail from his life but the female lead had to forget some of her traumatic memories to help her cope with her life! they were also tied together through a mutual character who was a big part of their lives in a different way! just an interesting melodrama with interesting characters i liked it! and moon ga young... i love you queen!!! 7/10
THE MEDIOCRE KDRAMAS -
more than friends - was the storytelling in this show groundbreaking? no. was the acting decent? yes. also probably the main reason i stuck with this show until the end! i think we can all agree lee soo had the best character development on this show he started off as a bad boy who wore one ear stud to actually becoming a well liked character... who else did it like him? no one. also the chemistry between the mains was 🔥 but the second male lead was so annoying is there a opposite word for second lead syndrome because i had that for sure! i think the best part about this show was the people i watched it with on here... shoutout to the five of us ahsjsj also this show introduced me to a talented actor/singer like ong seong wu (y’all know my kpop knowledge is nonexistent so no i didn’t know he was in a band called wanna one) all in all a predictable show but i had fun watching it so 6.5/10
tale of the nine tailed - i didn’t actually watch this show i watched it through gifs and instagram posts ahsjsjs so am i qualified to talk about my opinion definitely no... will I talk about it anyways yes lmao. lee rang deserved better that’s all goodbye and take care. 5.5/10
start up - probably one of the most awaited opinions. y’all thought this would be in the worst kdramas section but i decided to give this show some rights. the show started off strong, lost it’s way after episode 6 and then the last episode gave me what i wanted so i have mixed feelings. the writing was not the best i think we can all agree, love triangle as a plot device? wow so groundbreaking 🤡 the characters on the other hand... i loved every single one of them i mean ship wars? i don’t know her. the show had a lot of potential that was wasted but we also got some cute moments between the characters so there was really no winning or losing with this show? but in all honesty you can’t put a talented cast together like this and then just decide to give the audience a mediocre plot but the writers did exactly that! i think i can redirect y’all to my ‘crimes this show committed’ post for a in-depth analysis. lastly nam do san was a GOOD and REFRESHING male lead and ji pyeong was also a GOOD and FUN second male lead!!! this show gave me the ugliest ship war ever that i was transported back to my high school tvd days so thank you for that!! but the cast was loveable and all had a lot of chemistry together so here’s a 5/10 maybe that's too generous but... i think the reason why i didn't enjoy watching this show as much was definitely because of the tag on here lmao
THE WORST KDRAMAS -
the king eternal monarch - i miss clowning this show so much. the amount of braincells i lost while trying to understand this plot... i should be compensated by the writers. however, woo do hwan was a treat to look at on a weekly basis... however the writers kept decreasing his screen time even though he had a dual role... make it make sense? and i cannot comment on the plot of this show because i still don’t understand anything? also in my opinion tae eul and lee gon were the most bland couple of 2020, there was no chemistry between them and there was just a random kiss in episode 5 and they randomly said i love you... where was the development? also lee gon was soooo boring and such a one dimensional male lead! literally all the side characters were so much more interesting and the cast was good... but this plot. 2/10
do do sol sol la la sol - i wanna fight the writer who decided that the plot twist on the show would be that jun is a minor? i had no expectations from this show but it looked cute and nonsensical but that plot twist made me run the other way so fast that i never looked back! just because jun is a boy they really thought this would be excused like lmao we all have critical thinking skills???? the clown behaviour. a solid 1/10
record of youth - i hate this show so much. imagine not utilising park so dam who just starred in the biggest oscar winning movie to her full potential. imagine just making her a love interest to park bo gum’s character in the year 2020. i watched it up until episode 6 and i kept waiting for her character to get development... but it never happened so i dropped this show. also this show featured the MOST useless love triangle i have ever seen in my life like what was the point? also park bo gum’s characters family was straight up annoying (minus the grandpa) but they got so much screen time like that should’ve been given to park so dam... also villainising a gay side character for no reason at all in the year 2020? this show was a waste of my time i want the 6 hours i spent watching this back. -100/10
backstreet rookie - i watched one episode of this and literally wanted to rip my eyeballs out of my head. idk what ji chang wook was thinking when he signed this drama i think he lost his ability to read because that's the only reasonable explanation for why he chose to star in such a dumpster fire show! this show had a racist character... had a high schooler kiss an adult... sexist jokes... just the worst things you can think of in a drama... this show had it. i still can’t believe so many people watched this show to the point where it had better ratings than pbio... really made me question everyone’s taste? but sorry can’t relate my taste is excellent so here’s the rating this show actually deserves -1000/10
if you made it this far... thank you for reading. let’s continue to love some kdramas together and get clowned by others in 2021! looking forward to it 😅

Let me tell you all about a very personally satisfying HC I have that, whilst perhaps explaining some things within the books, is really just for my own enjoyment.
So, the idea originates in the concept that everyone in the Dol Amrothian line are very spooky. The close elven lineage and living near an old abandoned elven haven had particularly mysterious effects on the whole family. Sure there are Dunadain in Gondor and they can develop certain spooky traits, but the Lords of Dol Amroth start out spooky and usually stay that way. It goes up and down depending on the individual, but generally they are all uncanny at the very least.
Denethor can see into the hearts of men, yeah ok cool I guess. Imrahil goes down to the Dol Amroth harbour at dusk and whispers to the swans until midnight, he answers questions you were sure you did not say out loud, he can make you weep with genuine grief over a sadness he hasn’t even mentioned. Speaking with Finduilas sometimes makes you feel like time passes in an instant, or incredibly slowly, or not at all... except no... really... how much time has passed? Wasn’t it just morning? How is the sun setting already? Or, oh my gosh, I’m going to be late! Or... not..? it’s barely been a few moments, yet I feel like I just lived a lifetime...
Ivriniel insists this is all nonsense, doggedly, she refuses to acknowledge it, no matter how many political rivals raise her considerable ire and come down with a mysterious and debilitating illness the next day. Grandmother Duilindes is just straight up a witch. ‘It’s all for the honour of Eru’ she says placatingly, as she enters her rooms in the Palace that she forbids anyone else from entering.
Denethor had heard these rumours before meeting Finduilas and, sure, he sometimes feels like he is being hunted, only to turn and find Adrahil’s eyes on him. But Dunadain are just a little strange like that! Surely it’s been blown out of proportion. He believes this up until he comes to Dol Amroth as Finduilas’ suitor.
Denethor: Shall we take a walk after dinner? Everyone looks up from their plates in alarm Adrahil: Are you joking? Denethor: ??? Imrahil: It's the seventh day! The gardens aren't to be disturbed! Denethor, whispering to Finduilas: What does that mean?? Finduilas, chuckling: oh, Denethor!
He sees Imrahil whispering to the swans at one point and is about to call out to him before Finduilas quickly gestures him silent.
Denethor, whispered: What is he doing? Finduilas: Shh, if the swans hear us we'll surely be attacked. Denethor: But then shouldn't Imrah- Finduilas: SHH.
One evening Ivriniel sweeps in with a stormy countenance, muttering over Lord Garahel’s stupidity. The next morning Denethor hears Imrahil mention that Lord Garahel has been taken ill with some fainting sickness. The look he gives Ivriniel is enough for her to know his mind.
Ivriniel: Your imagination will run wild Denethor, I had thought you more reasonable. You think I, what? Cursed him? Don’t be ridiculous. Denethor, turning to Finduilas: Do you think... she knows she's doing it? Finduilas: Oh no, in fact she's determined to remain ignorant to it. Denethor: Can you... do that? Finduilas: I havent tried :)
At some point Finduilas had told Denethor that ‘Imrahil is the odd one of the family’ and by the end of the visit all Denethor can think is ‘by what metric??’
Denethor had to admit to himself privately that he was not at all put off by Finduilas’ nature, but he did have cause to worry what their children would be like. Finduilas came across Denethor, early after Boromir’s birth, rocking him to sleep and murmuring softly; 'I may have my failings as a father, I am sure I shall, but I swear they will be honestly meant, I love you so dearly my son... please do not curse me when you are older and I do not allow you everything you ask. I promise I only ever have your wellness in mind.' And she thought it was very sweet and proper, but she didn’t tell him he was wrong! And for very good reason!
Boromir was an unnerving child. He learned to speak just a little too quickly, and when he did he would often say uncanny things, too knowing things, indecipherable things that became daunting the longer you thought about them. He had such a powerful grasp of complex feeling that he would often solve arguments between adults, explain emotions back at his parents or offer reasons for another child’s behaviour that were so accurate it became uncomfortable.
3yo Boromir: (explains the reason Denethor’s secretary was distracted that day unprompted) Finduilas: (laughs) yes that's right! Denethor: It's.... TOO right. Finduilas: Oh well children are intuitive aren't they? Denethor, picking Boromir up: ... I feel under qualified to teach you things. Boromir: (baby-giggles but in a like way too knowing way)
And then sometimes Denethor would be sitting reading on a bench on a balcony in the early evening with Boromir contentedly playing with a fiddle-toy beside him, and suddenly his son’s voice would break the silence with; 'When I wasn't here I was colder, so I think I like it here, I'll stay. The air isn't as delicious but there's more to see.'
And then he’d go back to playing as though nothing was wrong whilst Denethor had an existential crisis.
Denethor: W.. where were you, before? Boromir: Well I didn't know, because I couldn't know, but now I can know things, just not that. I haven't decided if I like it.
He asks Finduilas about it as soon as he can find her and she just laughs, ‘don't worry he'll forget he knows that in a few years’ she says, as though that helps at all.
But in general this is as far as Boromir ventures into the ‘spooky Dol Amroth’ territory. Sometimes he mentions things he CHOSE NOT to do that suggests he is capable of more, but other than randomly forcing Denethor to consider his position in the universe and reading him for shit, the first five years of being a parent is fine for Denethor.
At one point, when Boromir was about two, someone asked Finduilas if they were planning for another baby soon. Finduilas laughed ruefully, as though everyone would know that was a foolish question. ‘Oh no, much too soon for that’ she said. Denethor knew he had to follow up on what the hell that meant later. But when asked, all Finduilas said was ‘Oh you know! If siblings are born too close then they align their powers. Haven’t you heard my father talk about my uncles?’ She says it with the same tone as reading something out of a parenting manual. Denethor doesn’t want to hear about Finduilas’ uncles, but accepts this is important and stops thinking about it.
And it’s a good thing they did wait because, whilst Boromir was unnerving, Faramir is straight up terrifying.
What Denethor realised was that Boromir had been showing restraint. Faramir however was very comfortable with his powers and saw no reason not to use them. Denethor would find himself lost in baby Faramir’s eyes, feeling unable to move simply because of the weight of his stare. Finduilas and Boromir would have to save him from Faramir’s grasp, an act that would make Faramir look very put out.
If people irritated Denethor when he was holding his youngest son, then just a glance from this child would make them drop whatever they were holding, Faramir grinning victoriously all the while. If Faramir did not want to take a bath then Finduilas would have to be present in case the baby decided to make Denethor relive his entire childhood.
Sometimes Denethor would come outside to see his toddler just surrounded by the street cats of Minas Tirith, conducting some kind of incomprehensible tribunal that all the cats appeared to abide by. At one point Boromir was holding Faramir when Faramir grasped his brother’s face and pulled so that their eyes locked. Boromir passively held Faramir’s intense gaze for a while in this charged and tense moment, before calmly looking away as Faramir pouted. Denethor once again begged Finduilas to explain, but all she had to give was a fond sigh and a ‘Aw, Faramir just wants to get to know him, but our Boromir is too canny, Ivriniel and I used to do that.’ Denethor is used to helpless bemusement and concern by now.
Now the SECOND part to this HC- YES I’M STILL GOING, THIS IS ALL IMPORTANT- the second part is that Dol Amrothians ALSO get a kind of ‘choice’. (This is likely not at all canon friendly tbh but uwu I can have a leetle canon noncompliance if it doesn’t effect the vast expansive canon... as a treat) It is far more unconscious and happens in childhood, but there is a point where a child will ‘decide’ to continue being spooky or to be more mundane. This never overrides ALL the spookiness, hence Ivriniel’s intermittent cursing and Finduilas’ occasional time dilation, but Imrahil still out spooks the lot of them. Amongst the family this is known as ‘settling’.
Boromir settles when he is eight. One day he comes to breakfast and Denethor looks into his son’s face and feels like he is suddenly more in the world, more in the moment. Boromir seems as himself as ever, but he makes friends easier afterwards. Whereas he had always been liked, now he is popular and has close relationships with children, rather than always seeming too distant. This also coincides with one of Gandalf’s rare visits. He had been trying to connect with Boromir, trying to engage him on very specific topics. Boromir had not been amused.
Denethor would never say that Boromir hating Gandalf’s vibes was the reason he settled for mundanity. Boromir had many good reasons, he is sure. But the fact that he chose that moment to settle, so that Denethor was allowed to watch Gandalf also realise that Boromir was no longer ‘apt to his hand’, well he might have gleaned some little pleasure from it.
The only aspect Boromir retains is his general resistance to such spookiness. Hence his frustration in both Rivendell and Lothlorien, the time distortion of those places not effecting him and the imposed rest not touching him, meaning he feels every passing day keenly. It also explains his resistance towards the Balrog’s doomful presence, as well as his heightened distress at Galadriel’s ability to see into his mind, where he had always been able to defend himself before.
Faramir on the other hand is seven when he settles, thoroughly content with his spooky powers and wanting even more command over them. It is with this settling that he becomes able to sometimes cause people pain for lying to him. Denethor... struggles as a single father for many reasons.

You frown as you watch Fred and Angelina laugh together a few desks ahead of you. Not so long ago you had hoped it would be you and him in the same situation.
You and the twins have been best friends for as long as you can remember, your parents being friends with theirs and your fathers working together at the ministry. Having essentially grown up together, you couldn’t help but develop a crush on Fred. He was funny and outgoing and so easy to joke with, yet you had seen his softer side as well.
You had seen him take care of Ron and Ginny when they’d get hurt or were having a bad day. You have been comforted by him a number of times and each time your heart swelled a little more with love for the boy.
Since starting hogwarts, however, you’ve been watching him slowly fall in love with Angelina Johnson - a beautiful, kind, and intelligent gryffindor like yourselves who was impeccably skilled in quidditch. It’s really no wonder he would fall for her.
For you, though, it was like a wrecking ball smashing into your heart, completely shattering it and making sure to swing back and hit the pieces it missed the first time around.
You’re not really sure when it had happened, but you had fallen completely in love with your best friend and there’s absolutely no point in telling him now. maybe if you had told him years ago, but it's not like you could go back.
You sigh, trying to ignore the breaking of your heart and the sinking of your stomach as you sit in the middle of transfiguration. Truthfully all you wanted to do was hideaway in your dorm, or maybe even the astronomy tower, and forget about everything. Maybe you could obliviate yourself? Was it safe? I mean, who really cares at this moment as long as you forget ever loving him.
“Hey, beautiful. What’re you thinking about?” You hear your other best friend, George, ask as he leans over to you.
“Nothing.” You sigh, sending a very unconvincing smile his way.
“You're such a bad liar, y/n. Always have been.” He chuckles, bumping shoulders with you as he teases you.
He knew exactly what you had been thinking about and he knew just how much it was hurting you with just one look at your expression and the way you were holding yourself.
“Only to you and Fred. If I remember correctly, I’ve pulled one over many a times on a handful of people.” You smile lightly, this one being a bit more genuine.
“That’s true, I suppose. I guess it’s one of those perks from growing up with you.” He smiles.
“I suppose so, Georgie.”
You give him a small smile, grateful for the distraction he provided from his twin. You weren’t sure if he knew what he was doing, but even if he didn't you were happy to have him. He somehow always knew right when to pull you from your thoughts or distract you from a situation.
~.~
“Hey, Angelina! Will you go out with me?” Fred asks over dinner one night and you swear you can feel your heart hit the floor. It had never felt so heavy before.
You watch as she nods, smiling widely at your fiery-haired best friend who is sporting a smile just as big.
Without realizing it, your eyes had filled with tears and you were on the verge of crying. You only noticed when one had started to slip out, which you quickly wiped away with the sleeve of your sweater.
“Hey...i’m sorry, loves, but I think I’m going to head back to my room. I-I’m not feeling real well all a sudden.” You excuse yourself, frowning lightly at you two friends; Adelyn and Maisie.
They frown as they realize why your excusing yourself, but don’t try to make you stay. They know you need to get away and be by yourself for a bit.
George frowns from beside you as you get up and quickly try to get out of the hall without drawing any attention to yourself. He hates knowing his brother is the reason for their best friend’s heart currently breaking into a thousand pieces. Fred doesn’t even realize how in love with him you are and it kills George because he knows Fred doesn’t look at you in the same way, whereas he does.
George has always liked you more than his siblings have. While it’s true you all had grown up almost as siblings, George had never been able to see you as a sister like Fred and Ron had. He saw you as this beautiful, vibrant girl he got to be best friends with. He saw you as one of the kindest, most brilliant, funny, and talented people he’s ever met. Then when you guys got older he only started to notice more and more how gorgeous you were.
Watching you go through puberty was absolute hell for him as he and Fred were unluckily starting to go through puberty at the same time. Watching you mature and your body fill out was absolute art to him, but it came to be a bit of an issue when he wasn’t able to control a certain body part of his. Too many times he had to excuse himself so he wouldn’t be caught with a boner, his ears always burning in embarrassment when he did.
After about ten minutes he decides he needs to see if you’re okay, already knowing you aren’t, but wanting to see if he could help in anyway. He hated knowing you were upset and would do anything and everything in his power to make you happy again.
~.~
“Hey George! Y/n!” Fred smiles as he sits down at breakfast a couple weeks later.
After Fred had asked Angelina to be his girlfriend and you left before you could start crying in the middle of the great hall, George had come to keep you company, assuring you that his brother was a thorough idiot and that you deserved someone who would notice your affections  and wouldn't just string you along.
He had stayed with you most of that night, only leaving in the very early hours of the morning before students would start waking up.
Since then you and him could be found together nearly every moment of the day. He would walk you to classes whether you shared them or not, and if you happened to share a class he would always sit with you, passing you playful notes the entire hour or whispering comments or jokes in your ear. You often had to hold back your laughter, opting instead to roll your eyes at him and smile.
If you guys weren’t in class, you could be found lounging around the common room or the library. You would work on your homework while George would either lay there with you, fidgeting with a prototype or he would be making notes for a new invention. Sometimes he would write you notes to smoothly pass you while you were working, effectively distracting you and getting you to smile.  He rarely would do his homework with you, which you always found annoying, but wouldn’t push him to do. in all honesty, you just liked having him near.
Aside from classes and your guys' free time, You and George would sit together at meals, talking and laughing with your friends aside from Fred and Angelina, you would walk the grounds together when you were bored while talking about anything and everything, and you would even curl up together in each other's bed at times just so you wouldn't have to part quite yet.
Truthfully, you and George had become more of a pair then him and his twin, but neither of you were complaining. You loved laughing and joking with him and he loved seeing you smile and laugh and joke back with him. He was proud of himself that he could take your mind off of his twin who could so carelessly break your heart without even realizing it.
“Hey, Fred.” George smiles, acknowledging his twins presence, but keeping up a bit of caution as you were sitting right beside him. He wasn’t entirely sure how you felt about Fred at the moment and wouldn't hesitate to take you away from him if you were uncomfortable.
“I feel like it’s been weeks since we’ve actually talked.” Fred chuckles, grabbing himself a plate of food.
“Guess things have been going well with Angie, huh?” You ask, your heart only breaking a little.
“Really well. Merlin, she’s perfect. I actually wanted to ask you guys if you’d like to come out with her and I to hogsmeade on the trip this weekend? I’d love to have us all hangout.” He says happily, before taking a bite of his eggs.
George looks down at you as you look up at him. You can read exactly what he’s asking you; he wants to make sure your comfortable, and if you weren't, it was more than okay to say no.
You smile, nodding lightly. you missed having fred around and it was only one afternoon, you were sure you could handle it.
“Yeah, maybe we’ll catch up with you guys there. I kinda wanted to sleep in a bit this weekend.” You answer for the two of you.
Fred nods, not even noticing how you two had to check with each other. He's definitely noticed how close you two have gotten, feeling a bit upset that you were now laughing and joking with george instead of him. For years that was your guys' thing. He was the one that was able to make you break out into a big smile, or laugh until you couldn't breathe.
Then you were spending all of your time with george now on top of everything else when it used to be the three of you. Fred was a little hurt that he seemed to have been replaced, but he couldn't exactly pinpoint why it made it so upset. Maybe it was because he felt it was his fault as he was spending a lot of his time with Angie?
~.~
Saturday comes almost a little too quickly and you realize just how nervous you are to do this. Maybe you didn’t have to meet up with Fred and Angelina. You doubted that they would mind, anyway. You debate going back inside the castle when George finally meets up with you.
“Y/n? You ready to go?” George asks, giving you a smile and holding out his hand for you to take.
“Yeah, yes. I'm ready.”
George frowns as he notices how nervous you are. He had a feeling you were trying to push aside your hurt feelings a bit too quickly, but he didn't want to bring it up. If you wanted to move forward, he wasn't going to stop you.
“Y/n, you don’t have to be so nervous. We don’t have to go if you don’t want to.” He reassures, grabbing hold of the hand that is picking at your slightly chapped bottom lip - a nervous habit he realized you have years ago.
“No, I’d like to go, Georgie. I just, Merlin, I don’t know if I really want to see Fred and Angelina hanging on each other all day. I feel bad not going though, you and Fred have barely hung out or talked at all lately.”
“Don’t you worry your pretty little head about Fred and I’s relationship. All I care about at the moment is you, and whether you are okay.” george smiles, pulling you towards him.
“I’m fine, just....”
“A little nervous?” he asks, looking at you already knowing its the truth. You nod and frown a bit, george giving you a comforting smile as he pulls you into a hug, his arms wrapping around you fully.
“Take a breath, darling. Why don't we go for now, but the second you start feeling like its too much you tell me and we'll come back. Okay?"
"Okay, georgie. Thank you for being so amazing."
"You don't have to thank me, y/n, but you're welcome." he smiles, his heart warming with adoration for you.
~.~
“George!” You gasp as he hits you in the middle of the back with a snowball. You two had been fooling around the entire way to hogsmeade, but you hadn't expected that.
you shiver as some of the snow fell into the back of your coat, melting against your neck and running down your back.
"I am so getting you back for that, weasley." you threaten, a smile still on your face as you try to glare at your best friend. he just smirks and winks at you.
"I dare you to, darling." he quips.
Fred and Angelina turn towards the commotion, momentarily pausing the conversation they were having.
Fred frowns a bit as angelina smiles at the two of you. She's glad to see you both so happy whereas fred is feeling just a bit jealous. he wishes more than anything that you would still joke with him and share playful conversations and actions, but since he and Angelina started dating he's noticed how you will barely look at him. It's like george has completely taken up your attention and fred was upset about it. You weren't friends just with george, you were also his friend whether you remember or not.
"Hey, guys! It's nice to see you!" Angelina calls out as she waves at the two of you.
Her and fred watch as you and george glance over, your smiles dropping ever so slightly. however, fred's the only one that really notices, and even then it was so slight he wasn't 100% sure if he saw it right.
You smile, waving back at the girl before looking over to george. you share a look that tells you he's not leaving you and that you will be okay.
"remember, y/n, we can leave at any time you want to, okay?" he reassures, holding out his pinky for you to promise with.
"okay, george." you smile, linking your pinky with his as he smiles at you, placing a soft kiss to your forehead before you make your way over to them.
"hey, guys. it is really nice to be hanging out with you, and to just get out of the castle for a moment." you chuckle, smiling at the red head and his girlfriend.
"oh, I completely get that, y/n. I've been so stressed over classes lately." angelina agrees, sighing as she recalls the few pieces she has to finish this weekend still.
george smiles at you, proud that your able to fake a friendly conversation, but silently reassuring you that you don't have to push yourself more than needed. the last thing he wants is to see you hurt again.
you smile up at him as he carefully slides an arm around your waist as he stands behind and to the side of you a bit.
"Well, what do you guys want to do first?" fred asks, eyeing his brother as he looks down at you for an answer.
~.~
you start to frown a bit as fred wraps an arm around angelina while you four are sitting around a table in the three broomsticks. You've been doing so well today, but now it was all starting to weigh down on you. As much as you tried to ignore it, watching your best friend love up on someone else that wasn't you hurt.
"you alright, love?" george whispers in your ear when fred and angie get up to get you all another drink along with some food.
"yeah. I'm doing great, georgie." you smile, loving the feeling of the hand he placed on your back. it's like warm was suddenly radiating through your body, trying to rid you of the chill you feel from the cold and your broken heart.
"don't lie to me, y/n. I can tell you're getting tired and worn out."
"alright, georgie. I don't know why you ask if you already know the answer." you huff, slumping onto your elbows, you head resting in your hands.
he chuckles, smiling warmly at you as he slides his arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him in the booth you two are sitting in.
"do you want to head back soon?" he asks, tucking some hair behind your ear as you look up at him.
"no," you sigh. "I actually really like out here, i'm just...tired of seeing them together."
george frowns, nodding in agreement as you both look over to fred as he kisses angie on the cheek.
"i think i've got a solution to that." he smiles.
"what's that, georgie?"
"just pretend to be my date. you can't be upset by them if you're on a date of your own now can you?"
"george, we can't -" you start by are quickly cut off.
"yes, we can. now shh. they're on their way back." he shushes, placing a quick kiss to your forehead as you shake your head at him.
he's got to be crazy, but crazy with a point. perhaps you might feel better if you were on a date of your own. it's not like you hadn't thought of going out with george before.
"we're back! with four more butterbeers and everything we ordered for food." fred smiles, setting down the tray he was carrying and angie passes out the drinks.
"Thanks, freddie. y/n here was just saying how hungry she was, weren't you, love?" george asks, his hand on your waist rubbing comforting circle into your skin.
Fred pauses a moment, confused at the use of the pet name. sure they've called you princess and sweetheart and many other names, but the way george had just said it was different. it was more loving and held differently in the air.
he doesn't show it, but hearing it made his heart stop for a second or two. He definitely felt like was being replaced with george, but watching you now, he wonders just what roles George has filled in your life.
Fred had always wondered what it would be like to be your boyfriend, but could never bring himself to find out. Then he met Angie and he pushed all his potential feelings for you away, instead focusing on the wonderful woman he's dating. For some reason, however, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of hurt in his chest at the thought of you and george dating.
"I was. I didn't eat much breakfast today and I'm starving." you say, smiling at your best friend, both of you noticing the hesitation fred showed.
"well, then, you better start eating." fred chuckles, setting your order of food in front of you.
~.~
“Hey, can we go to honeydukes, Georgie?” You ask as you spot it just down the street. After your guys' lunch, the four of you decided to look around and go shopping.
you didn't have a lot of money to spend, but you really wanted to pick up some candy, especially some chocolate as you've been craving it lately.
george smiles at you, nodding as he intertwines your hands together as you walk.
“Hey, guys, let's stop into honeydukes.” George says, already leading you over there as fred and angelina smile, following after you guys.
you spend a few minutes looking, having gone off with george and fred and angelina were somewhere else in the store.
You giggle as George pokes your sides as you reach for a chocolate cauldron up on the higher shelves, not quite able to reach it.
“Can’t reach it now can you, short stuff?”
“Shut up, Georgie. Help me get it down? please?” You pout, smiling when he finally reaches up above you to get it, successfully caging you against the wall.
"Anything for you, love." he smiles, a hand of his resting on your waist to steady himself.
you smile at him, loving how real all of this felt. maybe you liked george more than you thought all of these years?
He frowns, as you both hear fred and angelina laughing as they get closer to the two of you. George could tell how much everything still bothered you, but you were trying to be strong.
"forget about them, love. I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere. I promise." he smiles, running his thumb across your cheek as he cups your face.
“I’m going to do something, okay. just, let me know if it's too much.” He says, smiling at you as he glances at your lips. He's always wondered what it would feel like to kiss you. he figured what better way to find out than to kiss you right here, truly solidifying your act.
Without thinking much more about it he pulls you into him as your lips meet. you gasp a bit, but close your eyes and quickly fall into the rhythm of the kiss, your hands going up to wrap around his neck. you hadn't expected this, but it felt right in the absolute best way.
“Find something sweet, I see?” You hear Fred ask, chuckling, but when you both look at him you can see he’s more than a bit jealous, hurt flashing across his features.
you and george pull away, a light blush dusting your cheeks as you smile shyly. you had never expected that to feel so amazing.
"very sweet." george smiles, chuckling a bit as you slap his arm.
“I never would have thought you two would get together, but it actually makes a lot of sense." angelina chuckles. "and you’re really cute together. I can’t believe I would think anything else.” she smiles.
“Yeah, can’t believe you’d think anything else.” Fred agrees, looking between the two of you a little upset.
he never thought his twin would like you, you two always acted like brother and sister. granted you and he also acted like brother and sister, but he was sure he would know if george had feelings. he and george could never hide their feelings from each other.
~.~
The rest of the afternoon you guys spend shopping, George never failing to act like your boyfriend as he'd sneak kisses onto your cheeks or give you a quick peck when you two were stopped. you can’t help but enjoy it a little too much. What would it be like if you two really were to date? would it be like this?
“do you think we should get going back? it is getting kinda late in the afternoon." angelina states, looking around at all of you.
"yeah, I think we've all had a long day. It was fun, but i'm actually really tired." you admit, smiling a bit as george pulls you in his side.
"same here. i'd love to go back and take a nap before dinner." george chuckles.
angie nods, turning to her boyfriend who had been watching you and his twin. he could tell you looked tired, but he couldn't help but wonder if george had a second meaning behind saying he wanted to take a nap. he couldn't imagine you and him would be sleeping together, but at this point, he really wasn't sure about anything involving you and his twin.
“I get it. classes have been stressful and the professors have been giving out so much homework. i'm sure I could use a nap too." angie smiles.
"alright, well let's head back then. maybe we can all come back out in another weekend or two?" fred suggest to which angie agrees and you and george shrug to.
~.~
“I’ll see you later, Freddie.” Angelina smiles, giving him a kiss that you and George roll your eyes at, leaning closer together to hide your smirks and giggles.
once you all got back to the castle, you've taken residence on the couch. you and george cuddling and rolling your eyes at the couple as they chatted.
“I love you, beautiful. See you later tonight.”
George mimics his twin as your huddled together and you have to bite your lip to keep from chuckling out loud.
“That’s right, just laugh it up you two." fred huffs, crossing his arms and leaning back into the couch as his girlfriend disappears upstairs.
"you seem a bit upset, freddie. what's wrong?" george asks, not moving from underneath you or even shifting to lean towards his brother.
"when did this happen?" he asks, looking at the two of you. you were laying on your side next to george, your head resting on his shoulder as the two of you held hands and george's other hand resting on your waist.
“What are you talking about?” George asks, both of you looking at him confused.
“All this lovey dovey, relationship shit. You two aren’t really dating, are you?”
“And what makes you say we aren’t dating dear brother of mine?”
he scoffs, rolling his eyes at the two of you. there is no way he wouldn't know you two liked each other before know. he was not that oblivious.
"i've known the two of you my entire life, neither of you have ever showed any sort of feelings for each other until today. What's happened?"
you and george share a look of utter disbelief.
"godrick, you really are blind at times, aren't you freddie?" george asks, chuckling.
"what do you mean?"
"i mean, fred, that y/n here has been crushing on you for years and you never noticed. i know she wasn't trying to, but it was so obvious, mate." george says.
"what? no-"
"yeah, freddie. believe it or not your best friend was madly in love with you." you say, nonchalantly.
"watching you flirt and get together with angelina absolutely broke her, fred. i honestly can't believe you wouldn't have noticed." george sighs.
"anyway, i was helping her pick up the pieces of her heart. that's why we've been hanging out together so much. I can't trust leaving her alone in fear you're going to completely break her again."
You smile at your best friend, beyond grateful he's been here for you. you're honestly not sure how to ever thank him for being so patient with you while you were pining over his twin brother.
he smiles down at you, chewing on his lip as you snuggle closer to him, loving the warmth he was radiating.
“I-y/n. I’m sorry. I-I didn’t know.” Fred stutters, frowning as he realizes he could have had a chance with you.
"don't worry about it anymore. you've got angelina and you seem real happy with her. the last thing i want to do is make you feel bad."
"besides, george and I seem to be getting along just fine. he's surprisingly really good at putting things back together." you smile, giggling as he pokes your side.
“Surprisingly? Have I or have I not always fixed what you and Fred broke when we were younger so our parents wouldn’t yell at us?” George asks, slightly offended.
you giggle, burying your face into his chest as he kisses the top of your head. you loved laying here like this with him. for the first time in quite awhile you felt completely safe and happy.
“So you two like each other? Are you actually dating...or was this all for show?” Fred asks.
you look up at george and find him smiling at you, but there's something different about the way he's looking at you right now.
"well, we were pretending, but I'd be more than happy to make this real." george states, tucking some of your hair behind your ear as you smile at him.
"I'd be happy with that, georgie." you smile, watching as his face breaks out in a grin as he leans down to kiss you.
"so, you two are dating now...th-that's great. I...I'm really happy for you two." fred mumbles, feeling his heart break.
"freddie, I'm sorry mate. I know you liked y/n a little bit a few years ago, but i'm not going to let you keep going back and forth with her."
"no. No, I understand, george. She deserves you and you deserve her. I think I've always kinda known you like her more than a friend." fred sighs, smiling lightly at the two of you.
you give him a small smile. you'll always like him, but like george said, you can't keep going back and forth waiting on him to decide. Now, seeing george care for you this last month or so and pretending to date for a day, you realize just how much you truly love him. with fred, your affection for him was more a sort of a schoolgirl crush. with georgie, you knew this wasn't just a passing feeling.
"well, I'll catch you guys later, yeah?" fred asks to which you and george nod.
After a few minutes, george turns to look at you curled up on him as you've been thinking.
"Do you want to go talk to him?"
you shake your head. while you felt bad knowing that seeing you and george together had upset fred, you knew he would bounce back from it when he saw how happy you two were.
"no, i don't want to let go of you." you smile, looking up at him as as a grin takes over his face.
"merlin, y/n. you are absolutely adorable." he smiles, kissing your lips and then peppering kisses over your neck and face.
"georgie, stop!" you giggle as it tickles and the movement is causing cold air to hit your skin.
"can you just sit still and keep me warm, please?" you ask to which he nods, kissing you one last time before wrapping his arms around you tightly.
For going through such a rough month, you had to admit you were pretty pleased with how great it was ending.

Winter 2019
It was a mild Winter's afternoon in LA. You walked down the stairs of your family home, bag in hand, smiling when you spotted your family sitting around the table, a board game in the middle.
"Y/N! Come join us!" Your mum called when she spotted you enter the room. You shook your head.
"Maybe another time, sorry guys. I'm actually just heading out, I'm gonna stay with Charlie tonight... is that okay?" Your father sighed before nodding.
"When will we get to meet this Charlie boy that we hear so much about?" He asked, standing up to walk over to you. You shrugged.
"I'm not too sure, but it will be soon, I promise." You grinned. Your little sister looked up from the game board.
"What's he like Y/N?" She asked, looking at you intently. A soft smile appeared on your face at the thought of your boyfriend.
"He's really sweet. He's funny, just like you Dad. He’s not super tall but it doesn’t even matter. And he loves dragging me along on hikes." You paused.
"I really like him." You finished. Your dad frowned slightly, but hid it quickly.
"That's nice to hear darling. Don't forget a jacket, okay?" He told you. You looked at your father knowingly. He had been like this with every boy you’d ever brought home, not that you'd brought home tons of boys before.
"No it's okay, it’s not that cold outside today. Besides, he's waiting outside for me." You said, glancing down at your phone to see the text from Charlie.
'I'm here' it read. You looked back up again, noticing your father watching you. He stepped closer, pulling you into a hug.
"Don't freak out Dad, I'll be fine." You assured him. He squeezed you tightly.
"I just worry about you." You smiled, pulling away.
"I know, I get that. But I'm an adult now Dad. I got this."
"I know, I know." He sighed. By now the rest of the family had gone back to their game.
You patted your dad on the chest before turning to leave, stopping when your hand touched the doorknob. You turned back around to face your father.
"Just remember Dad, you were the first man that really loved me." And with that you turned back to the door and left, leaving your dad to smile sadly. His little baby was growing up.
 Summer 2020
It was Summer and you and Charlie had a few days off from work. You had decided to head back to LA together, to visit your family. After all, you had been dating for over a year and Charlie still hadn't met your family yet. The family that you spoke so highly of.
You touched down at LAX and made your way through security quickly.
"You ready?" You asked, holding tightly to Charlie's hand as you made your way to baggage claim, where you had organised to meet your parents.
"Honestly? I'm fucking petrified." Charlie responded, causing you to laugh.
"You'll be fine. Everyone loves you Char, and my family will be no different." You walked around the corner, spotting your Dad quickly.
"Dad!" You called, rushing over to hug your father. Charlie walked over slowly. You pulled away and grinned, glancing at Charlie.
"Dad, I'd like to meet my boyfriend, Charlie." You introduced. "Char, this is my dad, Sam."
Charlie held his hand out for your dad to shake.
"It's nice to officially meet you Mr Y/L/N. Can I call you Sam?" He smiled nervously. Your father looked him up and down before taking his hand and shaking it.
"Sir will do. Charlie, short for Charles I assume?" His glare was stone cold. Charlie swallowed, nodding.
"Yes sir, but I prefer Charlie." Your father nodded before turning his attention back to you.
"How long are you two here for?" He asked, ignoring Charlie, who moved to grab the both of your bags that were coming along the carousel.
"We have 8 days off, but we're only here for 4." You responded. Your dad nodded.
"Well I guess that's better than nothing. Come on let's go, your mother is waiting in the car outside. She didn't want to pay for parking so she's been driving around while I waited in here."
And with that the three of you headed outside to the car.
Luckily for Charlie the rest of your family weren't as scary as your father was.
Your mother was lovely, and she had been very welcoming, even speaking to him in French when it was brought up that the two shared a common language.
Your brothers were really cool and invited him to join them to play video games whenever he wanted.
And your little sister, well, she adored the Canadian boy from the minute he walked through the front door.
And just like that Charlie’s first day at the Y/L/N house was over.
After sitting outside for hours with you and your parents, Charlie decided to head off to bed, and with a quick kiss for you and a murmured "goodnight" he was gone.
"So what do you think?" You asked once you knew that Charlie was well and truly inside.
"He's lovely darling." Your mother told you, smiling. You turned to your father.
"Dad?" You asked. Your father shrugged.
"He's not too bad, I guess." He admitted. You shook your head slightly. Of course your father would say that.
"I met his family you know? They're really nice, just like you guys." You told your parents.
"Oh, that's good sweetie." Your mum grinned.
"His parents are great, they're really down to earth. And his brothers and sister are really cool. Plus they love their hockey." You looked at your dad as you said the last part, knowing how big of a hockey fan he was. Your dad nodded in appreciation.
"That's good to hear. If they like hockey they must be good people." Your mother nodded in agreement with her husband. You fell into a comfortable silence for a few seconds.
"You know..." You began, breaking the silence. "I think he might be the one." Your mother put her hand up to her mouth, unable to hide her excitement.
"Oh Y/N, you really think so?" She asked. You nodded.
"Yeah, I really love him." You smiled.
"And he's a good man?" Your dad questioned, fixing his gaze on you. You nodded quickly.
"I swear on my heart. He loves me, and he'd never hurt me." You assured him.
"Good." He said, and with that the conversation was over, the topic changing to gossip about a family friend who's husband had cheated on her.
And later when you were heading off to bed you made sure to give your dad an extra big hug and remind him softly that he was the first man that really loved you.
The four days passed quickly and before anyone knew it, it was time for you and Charlie to leave.
Your family gathered on the driveway, next to Charlie’s car that he had collected on your second day back. After a few hugs with your siblings Charlie moved to bid farewell to your parents. Your mother pulled him into a hug.
"It was lovely to meet you darling." She said softly, before pulling away.
"You too." He smiled. "It was lovely to meet all of you."
"Don't be a stranger Charlie." She said.
"Yeah come back all the time." Your little sister agreed. Charlie nodded.
"I'll make sure of it." He turned his attention to your father, holding out his hand for him to shake. Your father took it, shaking it firmly.
"Thank you for having me sir." Charlie smiled politely. Your father paused, before faking a smile.
"It was no problem." You exchanged a knowing look with your mother. You both knew that your father didn't think that Charlie deserved you.
After a few more goodbyes you and Charlie hopped into the car and left, waving to your family as you pulled out. You had barely made it to the end of the street before you grabbed Charlie's arm.
"Wait we need to go back." You said quickly.
"Why?" Charlie asked, but turned around nonetheless.
"I forgot to tell my dad something." He pulled up in front of the house and you jumped out quickly, rushing over to your father who was still outside. He looked at you in confusion.
"I forgot to say, remember you were the first man who really loved me." You smiled softly, and with one last hug you left again.
 Spring 2022
It was a beautiful Spring day in Hawaii. You and your father were stood together at the top of the beach, dressed to the nines, him in a fancy suit and you in your chosen wedding outfit.
It was almost time.
Time for you to walk down the aisle and marry the love of your life.
You looked over at your father, noticing his tie was slightly crooked. You took a step closer, and fixed the tie, watching as he tried to fight back the tears that were threatening to fall. You smiled softly at him.
"You know, I've never seen you cry before." You whispered. Your dad smiled, a tear falling down his cheek.
"You just look so beautiful Y/N. No matter what, you'll always be my little baby." He responded, pulling you into a hug.
As you separated the music began to play, and he held his arm out for you to take.
"Here we go." You whispered, and the two of you began your walk down the beach to where Charlie was waiting, teary eyed, at the end of the aisle.
As you walked, your father found himself looking over at you, taking in the tears of happiness and the look of love that you were giving Charlie. Your dad smiled to himself, glad that you had finally found the perfect man for you.
You reached the end of the aisle and you pulled your father into a hug.
"Remember," You whispered. "You were the first man who really loved me." You pulled away, stepping back. Your dad hesitated for a second before stepping forward to pull Charlie into a hug.
"Take care of my little angel." He whispered. Charlie nodded.
"Of course Sir." They pulled apart and your dad smiled softly.
"You can call me Sam."
