You and a couple of your girlfriends decided to go to a that janky dive bar a couple streets down from the nightclub you all usually go to. Your best friend was graduating and before her schedule gets hectic, you all decided to take her out to party one more time before she goes back home.
You entered the small bar, twisting your nose up the second you get a look around the room. Seeing all the old biker men, some sloppy drunk and others playing pool while smoking. It wasn't until one man caught your eye. He was tall, huge, he looked quieter than the others who were howling with laughter.
"I want the one with the handle bars." One of your girlfriends said over your shoulder, You giggle along with her understanding the appeal, he was cute, but not like the other one- who was now staring back at you. You avert your gaze back to your friends quickly, butterfly's in your stomach while feeling his eyes on you.
At the bar, you were having a good time, a slight buzz going on but nothing too serious. After all, you still have to get to the nightclub. So you sip slowly, checking every now and then to see if the mystery man was checking you out. "I'm gonna go talk to mustache," You friend tickles your exposed shoulder, "Come on." She nods, smiling smugly.

"You want to buy me a drink?" She rested her hands on his shoulder, batting her eyelashes, smiling coyly; playing a rather charming trick. Simon eyed you while you stood beside her. Your arms crossed squishing your boobs together making them spill over your low-cut blouse.
He sipped his beer, looking over your figure, taking a mental picture of those tiny shorts that made your legs standout. You smiled politely at Price when your friend introduced you, giving him a small wave. You looked at the other two men who were ogling you, practically foaming at the mouth, you cringed crossing your arms even tighter, taking note of how drunk they were, whooping every five minutes then chugging their beers to the point they almost gag.
"You want something to drink?" His deep voice says, snapping you out of your thought. "I'm fine." You say, "Too good for beer?" He chuckles, sipping the foam that sat on the top, "Not a fan of Guinness."
Simon cocks a brow, nodding the minute he notices your change in behavior, more peeved than anything. "I can get you something else.." You think about it for a second, looking back at your friend who was all over "mustache", making out with him on the bar stool. "Sure."
⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖࣪
One gin and tonic later, you were sitting on the barstool next to Simon, going on about how you hate when you go out with your friends because they always do "this stuff", getting with random guys and expecting them to call the next day.
"And you don't?" Simon asks, watching you wave your arms around, "Are you crazy? I would never let myself." You grab the lime wedge, eating at the pulp, "I'm too good for that kind of thing." You watch your friend lead Price formally known as mustache to the bathroom.
"Do you?" You cock a brow at him, He only smiles, showing his dimple, and you roll your eyes, "And is that what you think I'm gonna do?" You lean in. "Wasn't planning on it." He chuckled when he noticed your shocked expression. "You said you were too good for it." He shrugs, making you smack your teeth, "Oh please, anyone in here would want to sleep with me."
Simon only shakes his head, watching a pout start to form on your face, "Now what?" a small smile hides behind his fake annoyed expression, You check the time on your phone the minute you see it's been more than an hour and the rest of your girlfriends left.
"My other friends left." You sigh, looking at the bathroom door, "And this girl is too busy getting fucked on the nasty floor." You huffed, checking the time again. "By the time we get there, the clubs gonna be closed!" You complain, "I can take you," He offers, watching you pull out a couple of loose dollars leaving it on the counter for the bartender. "It's fine, I'll just call an Uber and go home." You suck in a breath, deciding if you should knock on the bathroom door. "I'll feel better if you let me take you home."
"It's fine," You dismiss him, heading to the bathroom to let your friend know you're leaving. You knock on the door hearing her hiccuping moans, "I'm leaving!" You shout through the door, "That's fin-Oh my god!" You roll your eyes, walking back to where you left your bag.
"Thanks for the drink.." You smile, "I'll take you home." He nods to the door, "You're drinking." You point to the half full glass, "I only drank three and half, I'm good." You squint your eyes at him, not fully convinced
"Then we'll both get in the Uber, we can share one, I'll pay." You roll your eyes at his persistence, "Fine."

When you get to your place Simon is taken back by the luxurious apartment complex.
You look at him, "I said, bye Simon." You snap him out of his trance, he looks at you "Oh right." You look at your apartment complex, "Do you want to come up?" You smirk, He looks taken aback, "Just for a drink." You shrug, giggling the second he nods.
You both exit the car, and walk to the entrance where you greet the older door man, "Late night?" He jokes, "Always." You smile at him politely, "Have a good night." He says, clicking your floor, "You too, Art."
Simon's still shocked, "I thought you were some college kid." He says and You snort, walking out of the elevator the second it dings. "No, no." You use the fob to unlock the door, "I work at my dads company."
Simon nods, taking in the interior that was decorated beautifully. Rugs, a chandelier, paintings, some extremely expensive art pieces. "Guess you don't need a man to take care of you then." He blurts, admiring the portrait of you. "Who says I don't like being taken care of?" You look at him with hooded eyes, the wetness in between your legs getting worse than what it was before.
"That's not what I mean." He chuckled, rubbing his jaw when he notices you walking closer to him. "I bet you can take care of me in that way.." You unbutton your shorts, keeping eye contact with him while you slide them off.
"I thought you don't do one night stands?" He bit the side of his cheek, his eyes on the way you play with the hem of your blouse. "I don't," You grab his belt loops, tugging him towards you, "I want you to take care of me," You say softly, your eyes flickering between his eyes and lips.
You grab his hand, putting it in between your legs, sighing when you feel him rub your covered cunt softly, "Are you gonna take care of me?" You breathe, moving your hand from his to make him look at you (why she kind of a pimp omg 🫢), Simon nods, You kiss his lips, pulling away to look at the lustful expression, licking his bottom and top lip making him smile.
You back off, "Come over here." You tell him, discarding the rest of your clothes as you walk towards the living room. Leaving nothing for his imagination, you grab his hand stopping him in the middle of the room, discarding his shirt.
You almost moan out loud, his big arms, toned stomach and pecks. You plant kisses on his chest and abdomen. You stand back up to kiss his mouth sloppily not giving him enough time to take all of you in, you were unbuttoning his pants, and trying to yank them down. "Woah, Woah." He grabs your hands, causing you to stop, "Slow down." He says, his voice smooth like honey. He takes his pants off, letting them fall to the floor.
At this point you're trembling for it, slobbering at the bulge that sat in his boxer, so close yet so far (too real).
"Let me see you.." He holds your face, Your eyes are wide and your lips wet with yours and his saliva, you look other worldly. He kisses your lips, it's deep and passionate. You moan pulling him to you bare body. You take one of your hands and play with his hair, messing up his overgrown buzzcut, "go lay down." He instructs you quietly, whispering against your lips. You do so, spreading your legs, giving him a full view of you, a shy smile on your face while he gets on the floor, going in between your legs. (MUNCH🫵🏼)
Simon kitten licked at your clit, making you moan softly. You push at his shoulders, telling him to give more. And he does, sucking harshly-maintaining eye contact. He pulls you lower, making sure to have your bottom hanging off the chair, he holds your legs- his head buried between your legs while you whine and moan.
Sighing, you try and spread your legs wider, wanting more of his mouth, he chuckles at the way you try and buck your hips. "Please, please?" You say weakly, grabbing his hair, pleading. He pulls away, taking his ring and middle finger in his mouth, sucking them.
Your eyes light up, you bite your lip watching him spread your legs again, sliding his large fingers inside. "Does that feel good?" He asks, smiling when you gasp, surprised at the change of pace. His fingers pumping out of you quickly. You pant at the feeling of his fingers touching that spongy part inside of you.
Then he slowed down, "Does it feel good?" He asks again, softly, looking in your eyes, "Mhm." You hum, gripping his wrist, trying to make him go faster. He goes slower and slower, "It feels good." you choke out, and then he finally speeds up, biting his lip in focus. They plunge in and out of you quickly making you squeal.
It all feels so good, your toes curling, calves flexing from his finger fucking. The pressure was overwhelming, he kept on. You could cry from the pleasure. Your moans got higher and squeakier, you were on the verge of screaming. That feeling you know all too well starts to build, but this time more intense and more at the front. You begin bucking your hips fucking yourself on his fingers, panting and writhing.
"Yes," You whine, grinding into his palm, it grazing your clit so nicely. "Yes, Yes, Yes." You repeated, working towards your orgasm. Simon watched quietly- still using his hand to please you. His cock twitched in his boxers, with his free hand he gripped his shaft, giving him some temporary relief. He was so focused on your cunt and how your arousal made your pussy shine. He was hypnotized.
Your orgasm was right there and with a couple more flicks of Simons wrist, your eyes shut and you could feel a gush between your legs, You moaned loudly while your pussy twitched and pulsed. You were so sensitive, still whining when he took his fingers out of you, stealing a taste for himself.
Once you calm down, you slide to the floor, making Simon sit on the couch, You bite your lip, "My turn." You giggle, pulling at the band of his underwear. He lifts his hips, helping you take them off. His cock springs out- You smile sneakily, so pleased with his size. You grab his cock, kissing his tip, making him hiss. You lick your lips tasting the remnants of his pre-cum. You hum in delight, making his already red cheeks even more crimson (she's a freak fr!). You lay your tongue flat on his head before you take it in your mouth. "Jesus.." He mutters, moaning when you bob your head on his cock slowly.
You pull back with a popping sound, going back to teasing his head, then taking him whole. Choking on his length, He adjusts his hips, pushing it further back making you gag. You take him out of your mouth, jacking him off, spitting on his head making it even more wet and sloppy. "I like you Simon," You look into his eyes, "I want you." You twist your hand, making him gasp and sit up.
"Yeah?" He says quickly, You speed up, "Yeah." You affirm, slowing down, he grunts and you speed up again. "Get off." Simon says and you stop, he stands, helping you off the floor (what a gentlemen. 😝).
He bends you over, one hand on the back of your neck, the other on your waist while your head rests on the couch cushion and your ass in the air. Simon grabs it roughly, squeezing at the meat of your behind, making you moan and push back against him. "I'll pull out." He pants, "I'm on birth control." You respond quickly, "I'm in love with you." He exaggerates, kissing your back before teasing your entrance with his cock.
"Don't say that to me." You joke, quickly shut down when he slides in effortlessly. Filling you in a way you never felt. Simon moans lowly, fucking into you slowly, the pulling out. Your cunt takes him so well, squeezing each time he slides in. You bite your lip, quieting your moans, trying to hears the noises coming from between your legs. Simon grabbed your arms pulling you up, "Don't be quiet," His voice was gravely, making your stomach feel warm. You nod profusely, giving in to the way his cock was making you feel.
His thrusts making thwack noises against your ass, your inner thighs wet with arousal, his cock would slip out and he'd waste no time putting it back in, fucking you hard and deep, you cry out in pleasure.
"Turn around," He ordered you, you oblige looking at him, waiting for him to say something else. He then grabs your legs lifting you up from the ground, his hands under your legs, guiding his cock into you. You mewl at him pushing in your swollen cunt. "Yeah baby?" He looks at you, watching your face contort with pleasure, "That feel good?" You hum, resting your head on his shoulder while he bounces you up and down. He puts his muscles to work lifting you up and down on it, "I'm gonna cum" You cry, whining when doesn't slow down. "Simon" You call out, your pussy leaking all over him. He sets you down on the couch, pulling your legs around his waist putting his full body weight on you.
He kisses you while he fucks you deeply, his pelvis grinding against yours. You're a panting mess, you have tears building, your mouth is wet with saliva. "I can feel you about to cum." He teases, chuckling deeply when you try to go in for another kiss. His thrusts get sloppier, slipping out of you when he goes too fast. You hold you breath when he slides in again, your cunt quivering when he thrusts in deeply.
You gasp when your second orgasm happens, holding his ass, trying to pull him in even more, when you hold him for a second longer Simon groans loudly in your ear, making small thrusts, too sensitive to keep going,
Simon rests on top of you, breathing in deeply, you rub his back while you both try and catch your breaths.

You both clean up, taking a shower and then getting yourself and Simon a glass of water.
"Hi." You smile shyly, handing him the glass. He takes it thanking you, chugging it making you stare at him. "I think my dad left one of his robes around here." You think for a second leaving him in your bedroom.
"Here" You hand it to him, taking the towel that wasn't big enough to dry him. You watch him tie the know swiftly, you hop in bed, still wearing yours, your hair wrapped up, You laid down, exhausted from the events earlier. You pat the spot next to you, and he slides in, sighing at the feeling of your mattress. "I noticed your dog tag." You point at his neck, he looks down, he nods.
"That must be fun." You yawn, "Not at all." He responds, staring at the way your eyes flutter, trying to fight off sleep. "I meant what I said." You say, your eyes shut. "I don't do one night stands."
"Heard." He nods, tracing the pattern on your robe, "So you want me?" He smirks, cracking himself up. "Mhm." you hum, grabbing his hand, kissing his palm, "I can deal with that." He touches the side of your face before kissing your cheek. "You better."

After that, it was radio silence. Anna didn't reach out to Bob, and he didn't try to either. He went to the Hard Deck on Friday night and lasted about an hour before excusing himself. Nobody asked him why he was bailing after one ginger ale and a single cup of peanuts, and that was enough to tell him that everyone knew. Everyone knew he slept with Anna. Everyone knew she was married. Everyone knew that they shouldn't talk about it in front of him for fear that the ladies would snap their necks. Even Nat was being very kind and considerate which wasn't really like her at all.
When Bob was halfway to the door, he felt a small hand curl around the back of his bicep. "I'll see you tomorrow night for D&D?"
He nodded down at Jessica's hopeful face. "Yeah. I can pick you up if you want."
Her face brightened a little bit. "I'll text you in the morning." He turned to walk out, and her hand slid down his arm. "Hey, Bob? Don't give up hope on her, okay?"
He didn't know how to respond, so he just kept walking. He had no idea what to say or what to think. It wasn't like he could stop loving someone overnight. He didn't really want to either. Anna's life was quite frankly messier than he had ever expected. She did a pretty good job of hiding it from everyone, and it seemed like she would have continued down that path if they didn't have sex. And that was the other issue; it wasn't just sex to Bob. Anna knew about the things he tried to hide himself, and she seemed to want him in that moment anyway.
Her words from the previous night made him ache.
'You're perfect. You're Sky Writing. You're the handsome man from the bookstore who smells like tea and soap. You're Bob, the guy my friends knew I would fall in love with as soon as I met them.'
If that meant she was in love with him or that she thought she could be someday, then he was afraid to walk away from her. But now he was terrified of getting hurt or somehow hurting Anna like Kevin had. Part of him believed if he could just see Anna's husband with his own eyes, confirm that he was exactly the way she described him, then he might be able accept that she just needed time to settle her divorce and to heal. If that was the case, he wanted to make it work.
In the meantime, when he got home, he ended up standing in his living room, staring at his bookshelf before going upstairs and staring at his bed. He could still picture her red hair all spread out for him. He could still feel it between his fingers as the silky strands slid along his palm. He could taste her on his tongue. He could hear her telling him what she wanted.
Bob picked up his computer and slipped under the covers, knowing he wasn't going to be able to sleep right now.
----------------------------
It had been there since early Saturday morning. A new one. Anna desperately wanted to read it and memorize it like she had the others, but she was afraid to face the finality. Her email alert mocked her every time she looked at it.
Sky Writing has posted a new, original work! Click the link below to check out the subscriber that you follow!
Bob wrote a new poem, and she didn't think she could handle reading exactly how he viewed her now. He'd never be like Kevin, openly belittling her or putting her down, but she knew the shiny packaging had been removed now, and he saw what was really inside. Just a mess of a human. She put off reading it and put off reading it, but when she was sitting at her desk at work on Monday, she made herself decide between reading the new poem or calling Kevin. After a fairly short debate, she decided to read the poem. It was probably so bad, calling Kevin later wouldn't even feel painful in comparison.
She tapped on the link in her email and was taken to something so unexpected, she gasped as she read it.
There is empty space on my bookshelf,
The one I bought with you in mind.
I didn't know it was for you at the time,
But one night made it obvious,
Before an instance took it.
Reality surpassed intention today.
Your worn favorites and mine pristine,
Should mingle and mix,
Genre forgotten.
Dog eared pages became so endearing.
But I'll never see them on my shelf,
Unless you come back and stay this time.
The format was different from what he usually wrote, but it was so obviously Sky Writing. So obviously Bob. So obviously about her. And he didn't sound angry. Could he possibly miss her after everything she did and said?
She jumped when her phone vibrated on her desk, and for a split second, she believed it could be Bob. Her heart beat faster with anticipation, but it was from somebody else.
Jessica Reed: If you don't come down to this weird tree right now, we're going to come up and get you.
Anna had lost track of time. It was after noon now. She knew that her friends were trying to make sure she was holding herself together after she refused to go to the Hard Deck over the weekend. How could she continue to go somewhere that Bob had the rights to first? It wasn't until she read his Sky Writing poem that she thought perhaps there was a chance he might not only be okay with her presence but perhaps even miss her like she missed him.
With her sad little lunch in hand, she dragged herself down to the quad, trying to decide when was the best time to call Kevin. She was tired of going through lawyers who couldn't seem to get him to budge, and each ninety day window just ate away at more of her soul. She should have been so much more careful with her writing when she had the opportunity, and now he'd completely locked her out of being able to access it.
No, she was going to have to beg him, plead with him, anything it took to get what she wanted without giving away where she'd moved. Maybe if he agreed to let her have her manuscript, one of her friends would let her borrow money for a flight back to New Jersey to retrieve it. She was getting ahead of herself, but she couldn't help it. She needed to at least get this one thing.
"There she is!"
Anna looked up to see her friends directly in front of her on the bench by the tree, and the fact that they both looked happy to see her made her heart ache. "Hi," she said softly as she sat down between them when they both scooted over.
"Hummus?" her friend asked, passing along a container while she bit into her perfect looking chicken salad sandwich on artisan bread. Anna accepted a few bites of Bradley's gourmet snack, because she was absolutely starving today.
"Thanks," she murmured, and she let herself sink into the background a little bit as the two other women continued the conversation they'd been having. Now that she was down here with his friends, she couldn't stop thinking about Bob again. His soft hair and his kind eyes. The way he always paid attention to her when she was talking. How good he made her feel.
She listened to her friends argue about alumni weekend for a few minutes before she finally cut them off to ask, "Has Bob said anything about me?" Both of them looked at her, and she quickly added, "I can't stop thinking about him."
Jessica smiled softly and said, "Not a word, but I've never seen him look so sad. And I mean that in a good way, because although I know he's confused and hurt, I'm pretty sure he just misses you."
"But," the other woman quickly cut in, "the most important thing right now is making sure you take care of yourself. Even if you are in love with Bob."
"Oh!" Jessica exclaimed. "I have an idea! We could just kill Kevin!"
Anna snorted in spite of herself. "That would actually solve a lot of my problems. Maybe even all of them."
"Only one problem with that," Advanced Calculus said blandly. "You're not a killer, Jessica."
"I could kill someone," Jessica muttered under her breath, and truly Anna almost laughed, because Jessica Reed was one of the gentlest people she'd ever met. The most violent thing about her was her Dungeons & Dragons character. "I could at least probably slap him."
"He wouldn't know what hit him," Anna said, and all three women erupted into laughter. And it felt so strange to feel genuine happiness, even if it only lasted for a few seconds, that Anna almost started crying. As their amusement died down, she asked her friends, "Do you think.... Bob would respond if I texted him?"
Jessica squeaked, and then both women said, "Yes."
---------------------------
Bob was back to square one. Back at the bookstore. He was fifteen minutes early. He was already looking through the Classics. He was about to meet up with Anna. He was nervous.
Nat scoffed when he told her where he was going, and he truly did appreciate that his friend wanted him to proceed with caution, but she just didn't understand how Anna made him feel. Being friends with her after sleeping together a total of one time might kill him, but he knew that was probably all he could have now.
It was almost like he could sense that she was there. He looked up from the Shakespeare volume in his hand, and he saw her walk in the door. As he got closer to the loft railing, he saw her glance up and meet his eyes like it was some depraved version of Romeo and Juliet. She mouthed the word Hi before she headed for the stairs, and in less than a minute, she was standing right in front of him.
Anna looked nervous, but everything else was just the same. Those perfect freckles decorated her face. Her brown eyes were bright. Her pretty hair was in a messy braid. He saw her burgundy nail polish as she fidgeted with her denim jacket. He wanted to know if she still thought he was the kind of person she could love. He wanted to ask her if her husband was any closer to signing papers. Instead he said, "I was surprised when you texted me."
Her eyes went wide, and he wished he could shove his foot in his mouth as she started looking around anywhere but at his face. "I need some books for my feminist literature course, and I just thought maybe you'd like more books for your bookshelf."
Had she read his newest poem? It was a sloppy one that he wrote late on Friday night and posted on a whim. She could have deleted her account by now or vowed never to read anything else by Sky Writing. But that didn't stop the poem from being about her.
"I do need some more books for my shelves," he replied, and her eyes finally settled on his again. "And you don't have to be nervous around me. I know you're dealing with a lot, and I promise I won't touch you or anything."
Now she just looked sad and distraught, but she nodded and turned down the very aisle where they first met. Bob had to fight to keep a few feet of space between them as she said, "I'm looking for Mary Wollstonecraft, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton."
They worked their way slowly up and back down each aisle, falling into a natural conversation in spite of the awkwardness between them. In spite of the way Bob couldn't keep himself from looking at her as she ran her fingers along the spines. When she wanted something that was on a top shelf, he reached it down for her. When her hands got full, he offered his up for her use. And to his delight and also sadness, she kept recommending books for him along the way. That's how he ended up with Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day as well as The Importance of Being Earnest in his hand when she led the way downstairs to pay.
Bob cleared his throat as Anna reached into her pocket for some cash. "I can get them."
Her brown eyes snapped up to meet his, and her cheeks turned pink. He already knew what Kevin did, and while he didn't think there was any harm in saying it, he could tell that she at least had her pride intact. "The college is going to reimburse me," she said firmly before handing forty dollars across the counter.
"Right," Bob said before paying for his own books. When they walked out into the fading sunlight, he looked down into her pretty face. "Will you let me drive you home? Not because I think I need to, but because I want to?"
She seemed at war with herself as she looked across the street and pressed her lips together. But her eyes fluttered closed and she said, "I would really appreciate that."
The interior of his truck was quiet the whole way as their books sat on the seat between them. Only the soft hum of the radio helped Bob hold his thoughts at bay. The ride wasn't too long, and when they were most of the way there, Anna finally spoke.
"I'm going to deal with my shit. I promise."
Unsure exactly how he should respond, Bob simply said, "Okay."
When he pulled up in front of her building, he turned toward her, intending to ask if she wanted him to walk her up, but she was gathering her books together as she said, "I don't know how you feel about me now. I don't know if you could want me again. But I am going to deal with Kevin. I am going to fix my life. Because I want to move on. I need to." When he was so flustered that he didn't immediately respond, Anna said, "You know where to find me. Thanks for the ride."
He watched her run up the sidewalk before struggling to open the door with her arms full, and then she ducked inside when he finally figured out what he wanted to say. "I'll find you."
-------------------------------
If Anna even had a hope or a prayer at a chance with Bob ever again, she needed to work up the nerve. A real chance with him now that he knew all about her disastrous marriage was what she wanted, but she needed to sort Kevin out first.
As far as she could tell, everything came down to two options: keep her freedom by giving Kevin ownership of her manuscript, or keep her self worth by fighting until she didn't have anything left to give up. And both of them sounded terrifying. The whole weekend passed where she tried so many times to call him. She took her phone out again and again, let her thumb hover over her husband's phone number, and then chickened out. His voice was like a distant memory, and she didn't want to bring it back to the forefront of her mind. He hadn't reached out one time since she up and left without telling him where she was going, and she was afraid to let him know where she was now.
The worst part was, he would know immediately why she was calling. He knew that he had the one thing she wanted. He cut off her access to the cloud files where she should have been able to piece her writing back together. It would have been time consuming, but she would have been all too happy to do it. She should have known better than to let him have so much of her life and so many of her resources in only his name, but there was a time when she trusted him. That was the part that made her so sick. She had trusted her husband, and now look where it got her.
A shiver went through her body as she woke up for work too early on Monday morning. She wanted Kevin's computer where everything was saved. She wanted access to the cloud. She didn't want a damn penny from him otherwise. She was aggressively brushing her teeth, wishing she had more to eat than a granola bar when she spit out her toothpaste and rinsed her mouth.
She hated him. She hated him so much, she was going to call him right now. Without a backward glance, she marched over to where her phone was charging and pulled the cable out. Before she could even think about exactly what she was going to say, she tapped on his stupid name.
Anna was breathing fast and deep, her heart pounding in her ears when she heard his voice for the first time in so many months.
"Anna?" he asked, her whole body cringing after just one word. His voice was scratchy as if she had woken him up, but it was 9:16 in New Jersey. He should be on his way to work if not there already.
"Kevin," she snapped, gripping her phone tighter. She was getting angrier by the second as she listened to him yawn while she looked around her tiny apartment.
His tone was condescending as he said, "Of course you'd call me at six in the fucking morning after I haven't hear a word from you except through a lawyer since July. What the hell do you want?"
She couldn't do this. She couldn't talk to him. While she felt strong a few minutes ago, her resolve was already crumbling. She wanted to tell him that he knew damn well what she wanted, but then she zeroed in on what he said. "What do you mean it's six in the morning? It's after nine."
His voice was suddenly loud and harsh. "I meant exactly what I said. I'm in California for a medical convention. Now get to the point of your call."
Her mouth felt like sandpaper as she carefully put her phone on speaker. She started searching for Neurological conventions in California while she told him, "I just want my manuscript. Please, Kevin. That's all I want, and then you can be rid of me."
The bite was gone from his voice, replaced by a lazy tone, and he spoke to her as if she were a very simple child. "It's not going to happen, Anna. I didn't cut off access to it for no reason. It's worth money. You can pay me for it, or you can kiss it goodbye. I might even publish it myself."
She was gasping for air as she scrolled through her search results, coming up with a conference in Carlsbad that was starting today. As the page loaded, she swallowed and told him, "I'll sue you if you do." But even she knew she was full of shit.
"What what money, Anna? I'm surprised you can still afford your lawyers. I don't even want to know what you're doing to make ends meet right now."
Then she saw it. She saw his name. He was a keynote speaker at the National Neurological Physicians Association conference. He was less than an hour away. She sank down to her knees in surprise and fear. Her mind was swirling with information and ideas, and she couldn't even comprehend what Kevin was saying now.
"What?" she gasped.
"I said come up with some money for me, or I'm not signing shit." Then he ended the call as her hands started shaking. She dropped her phone onto her bed. He was in Carlsbad. Maybe she could surprise him. Maybe she could talk him into it easier in person.
Anna had to run to the bathroom to be sick, but her mind was made up. Once she cleaned herself up again, she tearfully made the decision to cancel her morning classes via email, and then she started grabbing her purse and her essentials. She folded up the newest copy of the divorce paperwork her lawyer had emailed to her and tucked it away. Then she ran for the bus stop, nearly tripping several times as she read through the schedule of speakers who were at the conference this week on her phone. If she caught a bus within the next fifteen minutes, she might make it in time to see Kevin right before he gave his welcome speech.
---------------------------
We will meet Kevin in the next chapter. Now is an acceptable time to start sharpening your knives. Bob, please don't give up on Anna. Thanks @beyondthesefourwalls

You awoke to soft kisses on your brow. Tender lips move south until the same kisses were being pressed to your collarbone and neck. You let out a soft breath, almost a whimper.
"Happy Birthday, love," your mates deep, husky voice drags you from any remaining grogginess. However, the moment you open your eyes a shining bright light penetrates and you close them again, groaning. "Hey, wakey wakey Y/n. No going back to sleep," Azriel murmurs into the shell of your ear.
You sigh and open your eyes again but now a veined, black wing blocks the light. You make a sound of contentment and send your thanks down the bond. Suddenly, the weight of your mate disappears and the sunlight comes rushing back.
"Azzzzzz..." you whine sadly.
He presses a quick kiss to your lips, "I'll be right back love."
As he leaves, you slowly sit up. With a quick glance at the clock you mumble a few choice words and jump out of bed. It's past 11:00am and you've missed training with Cass. Your weekly meeting with Rhys is in less than five minutes.
"Crap, crap, crap," you chant under your breath as you run around looking for half-decent clothes.
"Y/n!" Your mates' alarmed voice rings through the room. "What in the world are you doing!?"
You glance up to see a bare chested Azriel holding a platter of very good looking pancakes.
"I missed my meeting with Rhys and Cass is gonna kill me since I missed training! Why didn't you wake me!?" You curse, still trying to find a training boot from wherever Azriel threw it last night. "Az, do ya know wh-"
"Y/n," Azriel cuts you off, "It's your birthday. It's the day we celebrate you! I already talked to my brothers and they were willing to cancel any daily or weekly things that you usually participate in today."
You skid to a stop just as you spot your other boot, "Rhysand agreed to cancel our weekly gossip sessions!?" You ask, offended and incredulous.
Azriel rolls his eyes. "Get back on the bed and next time, let me join in on the gossip," he grumbles cheekily.
You smirk. "Ooooo, poor Azzie boy is sad he got left out! Think we were gossiping about you? That big wingspan of yours?" you question smugly.
He scowls, a soft pout forming despite his best efforts to frown. His shadows slide up your body, taking hold of your wrists and ankles and dragging you back to the bed.
You frown at them. "Hey! I thought you guys were always on my side in these petty situations!"
Azriel grins when you are dragged to sit against the headboard. "First of all, I am not 'sad to get left out' and second, the shadows are mad you didn't let them help with gossiping. They love drama."
He sets the platter of pancakes on your lap and you look down to see 'Happy Birthday Y/n!' written in chocolate syrup.
"No utensils?" you furrow your brows, looking again at the tray to make sure you saw correctly.
Your mate shakes his head, ripping off a piece of pancake and offering it to you. You smile as an idea pops into your head. You eagerly take his fingers into your mouth.
The sweet taste of pancakes fulls your mouth and you swirl your tongue over his fingers to get all the crumbs. "Mmmm," you moan seductively.
Azriel quickly retracts his fingers as pink climbs up his neck. He grabs more pancake and offers it to you again. Again you take his fingers into your mouth, tongue swirling around his fingers. You barely taste the pancakes, all you feel is heat spreading through your body. Again you let out an intoxicating noise as Azriel pulls his fingers from your lips.
"Stop that, I wanna actually celebrate your birthday! Not be stuck in bed all day," he hisses through gritted teeth.
You turn your mouth down and raise a brow in fake confusion as you look down to see what you're doing to him. "Stop what?" you ask too sweetly.
He all but growls in your face. "You keep that up and we won't be leaving this room."
"Oh?" you purr suggestively. You lean back, stretching your arms and back and succeeding in making your night shirt rise up to reveal your stomach.
Azriel practically whimpers at the sight, his eyes turning molten with lust.
A smirk grows on your face and you hide the mischievous glint in your eyes as you got to grab some more pancake. You rip off a piece and meet his eyes, extending your fingers to his mouth.
Azriel oh so slowly leans forward and sucks the pancake from your fingers.
"It's good, is it not?" You ask. "You're a very good cook Azzie."
He nods in agreement, jaw clenching tight.
You peck his cheek delicately but now, you're no longer teasing. "Thank you Az. I love you," you say lovingly.
The desire in Azriel's hazel eyes dims for a moment, replaced by pure love. "I love you too, my mate," he whispers.
Azriel beams at you, shadows dancing as he breathes out, "Happy Birthday, love."
Tumblr media
A/n: The following are a few glimpses into the day of the readers birthday and how it was celebrated.
Tumblr media
You smile at your mate from across the picnic blanket. He'd set up a whole picnic and made the food, even made the blanket for you. Often times you thought you didn't deserve him but right now you just reveled in his love.
Azriel was currently talking about how much he wanted to visit the summer court to see if his wings could get a tan. You highly doubted his wings could get tanned, considering they were black, but you let him talk for as long as he wanted. You'd found out he was quite the talker after you'd got to know him, it's just he didn't get a chance to talk.
You grab your mates hand tug him towards you so that you can lie down and put your head in his lap. He pauses speaking and asks, "Love, are you alright?"
You smile and grab his hand. "I'm great Az. I just like hearing you talk, it makes me feel safe," you reassure.
"Ok... so um... Cassian wanted me to get drunk with him and go to the autumn court to see how mad we could make..." Azriel continues.
You don't really hear the rest of his words, too busy studying his stunning his features. His eyes looked more green today, like the color of ferns. His hair was windswept from flying you around the city earlier and his lips were quirked into a one-sided smile.
"I love you Az..." you interrupt, just because you wanted to say it.
Azriel smiles down at you and pokes your nose. "I love you too, crazy mate. Now shut up and let me talk."
Tumblr media
"So Azriel ended up holding his pee for hours because Rhys's father wouldn't stop questioning him about his shadows! It was hilarious! He was crossing his legs like-"
"I'm glad you found my embarrassment entertaining, Cassian," Az grumbles, hiding his face in your chest.
"Thanks brother," Cassian sends Az a wink and continues, "He looked like he was aroused by Rhys's dad! After the meeting we had to fly back to Windhaven and Azriel couldn't find the time before to pee so he peed on the flight back! I bet the plants got watered that day!"
Mor spills wine from her nose as Cassian finishes. "How come you never told me this!" She accuses, pointing a finger at Cassian and Rhys.
Rhys shrugs elegantly, putting an arm around his mate and kissing the top of her head. "Just thought we'd save it till the right time to embarrass poor Az."
You are holding back laughter as you imagine everything Cassian just told you. Az is still hiding his face and now his wings spread out to encompass the both of you.
"It was not funny," Azriel mumbles, looking up at you.
You can't hold back your laughter anymore. Azriel's face is tomato red and his ears and neck are tinged maroon.
"Stoppppp..." he whines, again hiding his face.
"I'm sorry," you mutter, "You're just so beautiful!"
"Am not! I'm literally the color of Cassian's siphons!"
You roll your eyes and kiss him on the cheek. "You'll be fine. I'm sure we'll all forget about it soon."
"No we won't, girl," hisses Amren. "This is something I will hold over your bats' head forever!"
Azriel groans into your chest.
Tumblr media
"Y/n."
You turn to see Azriel on one knee in front of you, holding open a box with a sparkling ring.
"Az! Wha-"
"Shush... will you marry me?" He asks gently.
You blink, you hadn't expected to be married, considering that neither of you had any human background. Marrying wasn't uncommon among the Fae, it just wasn't something common for mated couples.
Then again... calling Az, 'Husband', did have a nice ring to it. No pun intended.
You smile at him, offering him a hand.
"Of course, I'll marry you Az."
Tumblr media
A/n: I forgot if Fae marry... correct if I'm wrong please. If you made it all the way here, I thank you.
sorry for like, not writing.
ANYWAYSS! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLAIRE MY POOKIE!

KIRSHIMA BOYFRIEND HEADCANONS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: kiri boyfriend hcs because he needs more love. also this has been in my drafts for too long but i finished it y’all, round of applause!
includes: fluff, female pronouns, black!reader cs duh, crack
Tumblr media
✧ and the best boyfriend award goes to
✧ before y’all even started dating he was always so sweet to you, opening doors for you whether it was at the food place or a car
✧ he has absolutely no shame making sure whenever he’s around, you never have to lift a finger
✧ he helps you up the stairs, buys you food whenever you’re hungry, even ties your shoes for you
✧ i mean he’s your boyfriend, it’s manly!!
✧ speaking of, one of the most attractive things about him is how good he is with kids
✧ if you have nieces/nephews or baby sibling/cousins they definitely adore him and it’s so sweet
✧ and when you get far enough into your relationship, he’s eager to express that he does wanna have kids one day
✧ if you let him pull out his list of baby names he will be so happy
✧ i think eijirou is one of the men very comfortable in his masculinity compared to all the other men he’s around
✧ not to say they aren’t, but he definitely has no issue doing things deemed as “feminine” in the slightest
✧ besides, manliness to him is about not always having to prove you’re manly. you’re simply just manly.
✧ kiri will let you do his makeup all the time and he’ll post pictures on his story after
✧ and he’ll love if you do things deemed as “masculine” with no shame
✧ no matter how it sounds out loud, he’ll be like “my gf is so manly i love her”
✧ yes, you wanted to pop him the first time you heard him saying but it’s truly just how he talks he can’t help it😭😭
✧ (one time he called mina manly as a compliment and she smacked him dead in his face, though, so he doesn’t say it often)
“wow babe, you’re so manly!”
“thank you eij— wait.”
✧ even though he’s willing to do it in a heartbeat for you, kirishima has a hard time letting you buy him things
✧ it’s one traditional standard he can’t seem to shake and even then he just feels bad for some reason
✧ but weirdly, he still likes when you ask even if he’s just gonna say no😭
✧ it makes him feel bubbly that you still wanna spoil him too and maybe he’ll let you a few times
✧ one thing kirishima loves is helping you do your hair
✧ he already dyes his hair himself so i feel like he’ll be very knowledgeable about hair care
✧ and he’d do his own research for you
✧ mans learned how to part hair, he oils your scalp for you, even washes your hair for you, and he learned how to braid
✧ in return he loves when you help him dye his hair whenever his roots grow in too dark
✧ this man can barely go to sleep without cuddling you it’s starting to concern his friends a lil
✧ it’s the one thing he looks forward to at night and he always hold you so tight
✧ which is completely fine because i feel like he’d also have warm skin
✧ he’s definitely the type of boyfriend to refer to you as his lady
✧ he definitely has clips floating the internet of him calling you that during interviews at hero galas
“oh, tonight i’m here with my lady!
“i’m sure she’s somewhere, she’s still a little camera shy.”
✧ if you’re the quiet type, he absolutely has no problem speaking up for you or just talking when you’re too nervous
✧ kirishima loves picking you up, you could be with friends and he’ll randomly just hoist you up into his arms
✧ when he works out, he begs you to do things like spot him or sit on his back while he does push ups
✧ or lay under him while he does them so he can give you kisses
✧ although one habit he does have is hugging up all on you while he’s still sweaty after he comes back from the gym
✧ i think he’d love a partner who does sports, so if the school has any college teams he’ll try to convince you to join even if you never did sports in high school
✧ he also thinks it would be fun for you and he always wants you to have fun
✧ in general, he loves being able to make you smile
✧ if you’re every having a bad day, he’s the best at giving advice or just comforting you
✧ and not to mention, gives top tier hugs
✧ when you start crying about anything he literally drops everything and runs to you
✧ to the point where even your friends will text him whenever you do and he’ll be there in an instant
✧ eijirou absolutely loves giving you flowers
✧ he’ll seriously find any excuse to show up wherever you are with a bouquet in hand ready to give to you
✧ valentine’s days? flowers
✧ birthday? flowers.
✧ passed an exam? flowers.
✧ having a bad day? flowers.
✧ having a good day? flowers.
✧ just because he felt like it? flowers
“awww this is so sweet baby, but what’s the occasion?”
“don’t worry about it sweetheart, just post with ‘em so i can take pictures of your pretty self.”
✧ in conclusion, he’s the man of your dreams

sungho ˚ ⋆。˚
when you jokingly dodge sungho’s incoming kiss to your cheek while you guys are watching a moving on the couch, the entire world stops spinning for a minute. he immediately sits back and blinks at you blankly because huh? you’ve never done that before! if anything, you’re usually the one begging him for more kisses, so now he’s just simply confused.
you’re struggling to keep a poker face as you continue to (pretend to) watch the movie on the screen while sungho stares lasers through the side of your head. his pout his evident, his brows are knit together, and there’s nothing more you’d rather do than kiss him right now, but you have to commit to the bit.
once sungho stops malfunctioning, he leans in for another kiss just to make sure that he’s not hallucinating, but you’re quicker than that. you duck away from his kiss again and sungho literally gasps at your action.
“baby,” he whines, his hand coming to rest on your thigh. “why can’t i kiss you?”
“hm?” you hum absentmindedly, pursing your lips to keep your incoming smile at bay.
“why do you keep moving? let me kiss you,” he huffs, going in for another kiss. you move away again, but this time, you can’t keep in your giggles as he continues to chase you with his lips. “c’mere!”
you jump up from the couch, squealing as sungho chases you with exaggerated smooching noises. you slide on your socks down the hall toward his room, but he’s quick to catch you before you escape, his strong arms wrapping around your waist to pull you into his chest before he starts pecking your cheek relentlessly.
“okay! okay! you win!” you giggle as he squeezes you in his arms, rocking you both from side to side before burying his face in the crook of your neck.
“don’t ever do that again. i thought i was gonna die,” he mumbles onto your skin. you turn in his arms to face him, cupping his cheeks with both of your hands. his eyes are sparkling, but you can tell there’s no anger behind them. you give him a little smile and a quick peck on the lips simply for being so cute.
“i won’t…” you start slowly, “if you can catch me!” and you slip out of his arms to run back down the hall, sungho’s half-hearted complaints and laughter ringing through the air.
˚ ⋆。˚ riwoo
you’re at your desk finishing coursework when riwoo comes in softly humming a melody. as routine when it’s finals week, he places your go-to coffee order on the desk next to you and waits for you to tip your head up to give him a thank you kiss, as you usually do. when you don’t make any moves, he leans down to kiss your cheek instead, but you swiftly move away as you continue to type. you hear him make a quiet sound of confusion, but doesn’t say anything else. instead, he simply goes to sit on your bed and waits for you to finish.
he forces himself to assume you’re just locked in on your assignment to avoid overthinking and backs off for a bit. you can tell he’s uneasy though, because his concerned eyes keep flickering over to you every few seconds. you have the passing thought of ending the prank because he seemed a little upset, but you wanted a reaction, a comment, anything.
You get up to join riwoo on your bed after you finish your assignment 45 minutes later. he’s laying down with his eyes closed, his chest slowly rising and falling with each breath. he looks so cute with his brows furrowed in his sleep, so you place a kiss on his forehead before smoothing out his messy hair. his eyes blink open at your touch, a sleepy smile crossing his soft features.
“hey,” he mumbles out as he sits up, voice ridden with a sleepy rasp. “you okay?”
“i’m okay. why?”
riwoo shrugs, opening his arms for you to crawl into. once you’re settled against his chest, he finally continues speaking. “earlier… you dodged my kiss.”
“did i?” you ask, blinking up innocently at him
he hums in response, his expression completely serious. “if you needed space, you could’ve just told me.”
“i know,” you smile, snuggling into his hold. he’s too sweet for his own good. “it was just a prank. i wanted to see how you’d react, but you didn’t react at all!”
“oh. i’m… sorry?” riwoo laughs out, cocking his head at you like a puppy. “should i fall to my knees and beg for a kiss from the love of my life?”
“i wouldn’t mind that…”
“okay then.” riwoo shimmies out of your grasp to kneel on the floor at the end of your bed, his hands folded together tightly as he bats his eyes dramatically at you. you can’t help but laugh at his antics, you heart filling with heavy warmth. “please, please, my sunshine, my angel. may i have a kiss?
“yes, you may,” you giggle, shuffling to the end of your bed to kiss his lips softly, a contented hum leaving his lips now that he finally has your attention.
jaehyun˚ ⋆。˚
“i’m back!” jaehyun calls as he strolls into your room with a bag of snacks from the convenience store. you’re watching a video on your phone and barely look up at him when he walks in. you saw this prank on tiktok and wanted to try it out just to see how he would react.
bad idea.
“i said i’m back,” jaehyun repeats after getting no response. he flops belly first onto your bed and moves to cuddle up at your side. “what’re you watching?”
“just a travel vlog,” you answer nonchalantly. as expected, jaehyun instinctually goes to kiss your forehead while you speak and you quickly move away. you see his body automatically freezes up at your movement, his eyes darting across your face quickly.
“what was that?” he asks with a forced puff of laughter. you shrug and continue to watch your video. jaehyun sits up with glossy eyes, his face completely dumbfounded. you’re never dismissive like this. he feels his heart clench in his chest as you continue to ignore him completely unbothered.
“did i do something?” his voice is a little shaky on the last syllables and you should’ve stopped the prank right then and there, but you don’t realize it in the moment.
“i don’t know,” you reply dryly. you see jaehyun watch your expression for a few more seconds in your peripheral.
“are you upset with me?” you shrug again at his words and that was the final straw. he’s silent next to you for a few seconds and when you finally look up at him, he’s already sniffling, moving off of the bed to leave the room.
“wait, wait!” you quickly drop your phone to chase after him, catching him right before he walks out of the door. “baby, it was a prank! i didn’t mean it. please don’t cry,” you rush out, wrapping your arms around his middle. jaehyun pouts at you, reaching up to wipe at his eyes.
“i’m not crying,” he sniffles, obviously crying. his nose is all red and his eyes are teary. “and that wasn’t funny!”
“i’m sorry. i’m sorry,” you coo, helping him pat his eyes dry before leaning up to give him a big kiss on the lips. he looks absolutely pitiful and even more adorable with his flushed cheeks. you feel bad for even thinking about pranking him in the first place. “my big baby.
he cracks a smile at that, shaking his head as he quietly laughs before pulling you into his hold even tighter. “yeah. i’m your big baby.”
˚ ⋆。˚ taesan
do not start something that you cannot finish. you’re eating at the table when taesan passes by and tries to plant a kiss on your cheek. at the last second, you turn your head away from him, trying to hold in your giggles when he sends a skeptical glare your way. quick-witted as ever, he sees the game you’re trying to play and decides that he can play it better.
“okay,” he says simply before continuing on with whatever he was doing. at first, you’re confused. no reaction? at all? really? and after the confusion wears off… the fear creeps in. why is he so calm? this can’t be good. what is he planning?
you find out soon enough when later that night, after the prank is long forgotten, you’re getting ready for bed. taesan is towel drying his hair as he walks into the room and he looks beautiful as ever. like woah… this is really your boyfriend! how can you resist? you quickly hop up from the bed and skip over to him to give him a kiss, but you are too slow.
taesan turns his head away from you to grab something out of the dresser, barely even acknowledging your presence. you step back in shock because there’s no way… you try to kiss his cheek but he steps to the side before your lips reach him. a taste of your own medicine.
“taesan,” you whine, tugging on the back of his shirt. “can i please have a kiss?”
“nope,” he responds, popping the ‘p’ at the end. “no kisses until you apologize.”
he is so stubborn, it’s actually insane. you sigh, hugging him from behind as your bury your face into his shirt.
“‘m sorry,” you mumble into his clothes.
“what was that? i can’t hear you,” he teases. you huff, lifting your head to speak again.
“i’m sorry. it was a prank. i sincerely apologize.”
taesan’s hands come down to pry your arms off of him, spinning around to wrap his arms around you. in the blink of an eye, he tackles you onto the bed before he starts peppering your face with a million kisses. you can’t stop the giggles from leaving your body at the sudden action, your heart swelling in your chest.
“don’t…” *kiss* “do…” *kiss* “that…” *kiss* “ever…” *kiss* “again.” *kiss*
leehan ˚ ⋆。˚
you’re fixing your hair in the bathroom mirror when leehan sneaks up behind you, placing his hands on your hips as he hooks his chin over your shoulder. he doesn’t say anything, simply watching you get ready with a faint smile on his lips.
“you look pretty,” he comments mindlessly before moving to kiss your cheek, but you move to the side before it can land. leehan takes a step back with raised eyebrows, watching your poker face through the mirror.
“whatever i did, i’m sorry and i won’t do it again.” he says the words with no inflection, completely used to your antics. you won’t break character so soon though!
“do you need something?” you ask, leaning closer to put on chapstick. leehan watches you with a mix of amusement and incredulity as you continue to touch up in the mirror.
“yeah. you,” he replies, moving back into your space. he wraps his arms around your torso, his hair tickling your face as he presses his cheek to yours. you pretend to be annoyed at the invasion of personal space (something that does not exist when leehan is in your proximity), and you try to scoot away from him, but leehan clings to you like glue.
“i’ll move if you let me kiss you,” he speaks as he smooshes his cheek against yours. you find yourself giggling at his bargain and the comically serious face he’s putting on in the mirror.
“nuh uh. no kisses,” you say, committing to the act. leehan shrugs, nuzzling his face against yours even more.
“guess we’re stuck together then.”
and he meant it. he hangs off of you like a koala for the next 20 minutes as you attempt to get ready for class, his front glued to your back with every step you take. now, the game has become a matter of pride. you don’t want to let him win, but…
“leehan, i have to use the bathroom.”
“and i’m coming with you.”
“no, you’re not.”
“then let me kiss you,” he sing songs, resting his cheek on your shoulder. at this point, you realize this is a losing game. and you can’t lie—you really want to kiss him too.
you finally turn around to meet his twinkling eyes and cheeky smile. with an overexaggerated huff, you lean in and kiss him gently on the lips. when you pull away, he chases after your lips to kiss you twice more.
“i win,” he smiles brightly when you two part. you roll your eyes fondly, running your hands through his hair.
“whatever,” you mumble through a tiny smile before leaning in to give him the proper kiss he deserves.
˚ ⋆。˚ woonhak
you’re strolling through a nearly empty park with woonhak on a sunny day when he attempts to kiss your cheek. keyword “attempt” because as soon as you jokingly move away from his lips, he literally stops his his tracks to stare at you, his mouth hanging open in shock, eyes as wide as saucers.
“wha- huh- what?” woonhak stutters, completely caught off guard. “why are you…?”
“why am i what?” you cock your head coyly at him, fighting back the smile threatening to escape. woonhak scrunches up his nose at you, trying to read your expression to no avail.
“you… you’re…” he cuts himself off to attempt a kiss at your cheek again, but you quickly move out of the way. “that! see!”
“i don’t know what you’re talking about,” you blink. woonhak simply stares at you for a few beats before dropping your intertwined hands. you immediately regret messing with him as grumpiness taking over his entire demeanor, albeit looking incredibly adorable with his pouty face.
“if you don’t want me to kiss you, just say that,” woonhak huffs, crossing his arms defensively before he keeps walking without you by his side. you laugh as you jog after him, holding onto his arm to you snuggle up to his side.
“it was a prank, hakkie! i’m sorry,” you giggle, leaning up to kiss his soft cheek. woonhak is still sulky, turning his head away from you to avoid eye contact. “i’m really sorry! i didn’t mean it!”
“you can’t play with my feelings like that,” he mumbles out, but his red cheeks immediately give his true feelings away.
“i won’t do it again! i love your kisses,” you smile up at him and that was all he needed to hear. the corners of his lips quirk up and he drops his arms to interlace your fingers again. “can i have a kiss now?”
the beam woonhak sends your way could put the sun to shame. he steps in front of you, pulling you in closer to peck your forehead, then your nose, and then both of your cheeks. when he leans back, he taps his own cheeks expectedly with a bold smile.
“my turn,” he says and you gladly reciprocate through giggles and sunshine.

Hello 👋
I saw your requests say open, but I know you're struggling with motivation to get content out so no worries if you cannot or don't want to fulfill this but I'm having a surgery soon so I'm requesting from some of my friends/fav writers hoping it helps me out in recovery.
Anyway sorry for the rambling lol, here's my idea. I was thinking like something with BuckyNat and R where Reader has to undergo surgery for something (maybe an old injury became too bad to deal with or maybe something happened on a mission that needs attention) and they're super nervous about it and hesitant to agree so Nat and Bucky sit down with them and just offer lots or love and support (even though they're both nervous too cuz that's their girl) so when Rs getting the surgery they're a bit of a mess until they know she's alright and then they help her settle into their room and help care for her as she starts to mend.
If you decide to write it I thank you lots in advance ☺️
Drabble || It's All Gonna Be Okay
Pairing: BuckyNat x Reader
Summary: When a mission goes wrong, you're told you need realignment osteotomy surgery, the idea of it makes you worried and full of nerves in which your partners help you overcome.
Tiny Angst, Fluff
Warnings: Medical talk, she/her pronouns used (I hope that's okay!!), This is not corrected or proof read. | 0.6K
Translations: detka (baby),
AC: I hope your op goes well!! I also hope this helps, sorry I made it a Drabble, I wanted to get this posted asap for you x
Bucky smiled softly at you, "what's on your mind doll?" he asked seeing your mind was a million miles away. Natasha sitting on the right side of your hospital bed, she looked up at the two of you.
"The thought of being put to sleep and some stranger playing around inside my body and touching my bones is freaking me out" you replied honestly. Bucky let out a soft chuckle, "doll, they are professionals" he reminded you.
"Yeah, they're not even thinking about how weird it is that they're touching somebodies bones" Nat pitched in. Sure, they had a point the thought of it was still uncomfortable. "Okay but what if something goes wrong?" you questioned. Nat placed her hand on top of yours, "detka, I promise you nothing is going to happen"
"That's right doll, nothing is going happen to my darling. You'll be in and out in no time and Nat and I will be waiting by your side" Bucky added. You looked over to him on your left side, "do you promise?" you asked.
"Have I ever broken a promise to you before?" he questioned with a soft smile. The support from the two of them did help ease some of your nerves and finally you agreed with your surgeon that you'd have the surgery on the condition that both Nat and Bucky were able to watch from the viewing room. At first your surgeon wasn't onboard with the idea but with a little sweet talking from Bucky and the two of them were sat in the view room watching the surgery unfold from above.
"She'll be okay" Natasha places her hand on Bucky's knee when she noticed the worrying look in his eyes. "I know but still, that's our girl down there, I can't help but worry" he replied. Nat rested her head on Bucky's right shoulder, "I know love, I'm worried too" she admitted.
They watched for what felt like forever until the operation was a success and you were returned to your room when both Nat and Bucky waited patiently for you to wake up, both of them holding your hand. When your eyes finally fluttered open, smiles filled the room. Bucky was relieved and Nat was just happy to see your beautiful eyes once more.
"How are you feeling detka?" Natasha asked, placing a kiss on your temple. "Tired" you replied, struggling to keep your eyes open, the last of the anaesthesia winning the battle making your partners lightly chuckle.
"I'll go get us some dinner, what do you want?" Nat asked Bucky knowing full well he wasn't going to leave your side for a second. "Burgers?" he replied, looking up at Nat as she placed a hand on his left shoulder, "you've got it soldier" Nat said, placing a kiss on his cheek.
----
A few weeks after your operation you started PT. Natasha made her it mission to make sure you had the best physiotherapist in the county, although you told Natasha it wasn't necessary but Bucky was on team Nat and you lost that battle.
Bucky basically waited on you hand and foot, he just wanted to make sure you were okay and in no pain. Night was one your favourite time of day because Natasha would somehow have dinner ready, by somehow you mean you were sure that Wanda cooked and Nat took the credit but you thought it was sweet she wanted to do something nice each night and let it slide.
After dinner, the three of you would snuggle up in bed, carefully of your knee of course but with the two people you love the most beside you, the pain from your knee was the least of your worries.

Warren refused to go to sleep for the babysitter tonight so he could so he could hug his dad before he went to bed.
Honey and Quinn took a little longer getting home tonight, the drive was silent for a good part of it, but as they pulled into the driveway and Honey put the car into park a sad smile found its way onto her face as she took Quinn’s face into her hands. She pressed a kiss to his chapped lips, taking a whisper about how proud she was and how amazing he is as a player, person, and father.
Warren fought off sleep as he sat perfectly quiet on the couch watching the post-game and waiting for his daddy to come home. When Quinn walked through the door Warren immediately perked up and headed in the direction of the door, arms wide open as he slammed into Quinn's legs babbling about being proud of his daddy.
Honey gave her boys some space as she walked the babysitter to her car. Quinn picked his son up and held him to his chest, listening to Warren's tired mumbles, he pressed a kiss to the little boy's cheek. Tears roll down Quinn's cheeks as Warren buries his face in his neck, it's silent for a second as the little boy hugs himself to his dad.
When Honey gets back into the house she searches the house for the two and finds Quinn sitting silent, keeping Warren in his arms, and he's looking at their baby girl sleeping in the bassinet next to their bed, his thumb in her grasp as he smiled slightly at how peaceful his babies looked.
Honey quietly walked next to him, her hands running through his messy curls as he looked up at her tiredly, “I'll take him, you go shower” she motioned toward the bathroom as he nodded and pressed a kiss to the heel of the hand that cradled his cheek.
“Can he sleep in here tonight,” he asked as he placed a sleeping warren in her arms, she nodded and sent him on his way.
Before he made it to the bathroom he turned around to watch as she placed their son in the center of their bed before walking over to their dresser and stripping herself of her game clothes, leaving her in just her underwear. Quinn grinned cheekily as she caught his gaze, his cheeks reddened as he realized he had been noticed.
They both stared for a second “I love you,” he said earnestly. She smiled and slipped one of his workout shirts on and a pair of his boxer briefs before walking over to him, “love you too,” she whisoered and pulled him into her chest, “now go shower so we can crawl into bed” she felt him a nod before walking into the bathroom as she tidied their room.
It may have felt like the end of the world at that moment, but Quinn knew that everything would be okay eventually :)

Jack Hughes x Reader
W/C: about 1k
Notes: saw an Instagram post asking women what their most dramatic moments in pregnancy and decided to write this based off one that I saw that made me giggle.
As always, be kind! Constructive criticism is always welcome! Wage peace xx
*
You and Jack had found out you were pregnant nearly 7 months ago now, which means you were close to the end of your pregnancy. Despite the physical and emotional difficulties of this journey, Jack had been your rock. He was truly the most attentive and magical boyfriend in the world. He always tried to accommodate to your needs even when you were being a hormonal mess crying about the smell of coffee and the fact that the taco bell worker put sour cream in your tacos when you hate sour cream. He’d switched to drinking tea at your first complaint and ordered you more tacos immediately just to make you happy. You loved him so much. He meant the world.
However, sometimes you took advantage of your lovely boyfriend’s willingness to please you and begged him for every craving you desired, and he obliged with little complaint. Except for tonight.
You had both gone to bed four hours ago, the clock reading 2:42am last time you looked to check. But you couldn’t sleep. Your thoughts were consumed by the delicious grilled cheese sandwich Jack made for you at least once every two weeks. It was your favourite food ever, just because he made it. It was special because it was just for you. No one else got to taste the delicacy that was your boyfriends secret sandwich making talent and there was nothing you desired more in this moment.
You decided you couldn’t take it anymore and rolled over propping yourself up on the side with your elbow, admiring the sleeping beauty before you and lightly rubbing your belly. Him and his little girl were going to be inseparable, and he was going to be the best father. You could feel it in you bones and you could feel your baby moving towards his touch every time he touched your belly. You lightly brushed the messy curls from his beautiful face and let your touch linger on his cheek. His slight stirring reminded you of why you had turned around in the first place and you shook his shoulder lightly, “J, baby?” you whispered into the darkness.
“Hmm...” he replied, his eyes still shut. You prodded him again and said his name once more, in a slightly whinier tone. He let out a huff and moved to prop himself up. With a sleepy voice he asked, “What do you need, baby?” while he admired the features on your face.
With a shy smile you quietly made your request. “Please will you make me one of your grilled sandwiches I’m starving and have been craving one all night. Please Baby” you plead with him, stroking his cheek as you asked knowing physical touch is his weakness.
He let out a heavy sigh and stood up, pulling some sweats on, “This is so annoying, baby, its literally nearly three in the morning” he continued as he walked out of the door presumable to the kitchen. Suddenly you felt a pang of guilt in your heart. You were sad that he was annoyed at you and wished you’d just let him sleep and deal with the craving instead of bothering him. Some time had passed where you continued to sit on your shared bed and feel guilty when he walked back into the room still with a slightly annoyed look on his face and placed the plate down on the table and stood with his hands on his hips waiting for you to eat.
You looked at the plate of food and then back at his face and all of a sudden it was too much. Out of no where your lip started trembling and your eyes glassed over as you held the tears in. jack, being the gorgeous boyfriend he is, was quick to notice the sadness in your eyes and his expression morphed into that of concern as he inched closer to you, sitting on the bed. Seeing his face change, you burst into tears, immediately covering your face with your hands, and moving away from the comfort jack was trying to give you as to not burden him anymore.
“Hey. Hey Baby... what’s wrong lovely?” he coaxed as he gently tugged your arms away from your face and pulled you into a tender embrace. You continued to sob in his arms as he tried again to get an answer out of you. “Please baby, tell me what I did wrong.”
You looked at him and then at the sandwich on the table as you continued to sniffle. “It’s not special anymore,” you answered. “You were annoyed with me, so it wasn’t made with love which is what makes it so special to me.” At you confession your tears began again, and you covered your face with your hands again to hide from Jack who had begun laughing at your antics.
“Baby.” He began, “baby, look at me.” And you did. He had a soft smile on his face as he wiped your tears away. “I made it with so much love. So much. My heart is overflowing with admiration and adoration for you and our girl, and I would happily do anything to make your life a little easier while you’re growing our princess in there.” He wiped away all remaining tears from your face and handed you half of the sandwich.
You took a bite and immediately sagged back against the headboard and closed your eyes in contentment. It was the most beautiful, love filled sandwich you had ever tasted in your life, and you couldn’t get enough you only allowed Jack one small bite as you wanted the whole thing to yourself.
Once you were finished you both laid back in bed, you cuddled into his side trying not to irritate him with your bump. You sighed again, this time in bliss as you revelled in your boyfriend’s love. “I really do love you; you know. I can’t wait to start our family together, J.”
At your words he leaned down and kissed you gently. “I love you too, more than anything. Both of you” and as he said the last part, he rubbed the swell of your belly and you both fell back to sleep.

Summery : When a scorching hot summer a thunderstorm wakes you and Eddie and gets the two of you worked up
Characters : Eddie Munson x fem!reader. no use of y/n
Warnings : explicit sexual content including, oral (fem receiving), unprotected p in v sex, canon typical drug use
Word count : 3.2 k
A/N : Previously posted on my now deleted page. Honestly just re-sharing because I still love this idea and this character. And I'm willing the summer to start here.
Tumblr media
Is there anything sweeter than a summer thunderstorm? The weather had been oppressively hot for two weeks now, the grass was dead and yellow with the lack of rain and the soil in every flower bed deeply cracked and dusty. The town pool was full to bursting every day of the week with children and adults alike trying to escape the heat.
Eddie's home often became so hot in the day it was physically impossible to stay inside for more than a few minutes without feeling like you were being cooked alive in an oversized tin can. You’d spend the hours of sunshine sitting outside on old and creaking sun loungers listening to music on Eddie’s stereo, reading or dozing. Eddie would strip down to his boxers and stretch out his slim, pale body in the shade but only after you’d smothered him in sunscreen and he was so greasy with it he looked like a professional wrestler.
At night the trailer was a little cooler, but still every window needed to be flung open wide to coax in the almost non-existent cool breeze that danced on the warm night air. You’d sleep under a thin, cotton sheet, as anything else would have been too uncomfortable and even then, with Eddie running hot, he often abandoned the sheet all together and just slept naked and uncovered.
It had been an easy Saturday, nothing to be achieved and nowhere for either of you to be. Band practice had been cried off due to the heat and D&D wasn’t until Tuesday so you and Eddie had spent the day on the sun loungers. Eddie was re-reading The Hobbit, his copy battered and bent at the spine from the many times it had been opened and poured over. He would read his favourite parts aloud to you, giving every character their own distinct voice, he’d read it so many times now he was reciting it from memory rather than reading.
After a dinner of take away pizza enjoyed outdoors with Uncle Wayne before he headed off for his shift , and a few joints to see the day home, you and Eddie had climbed into his bed, laying as far apart as possible as to not make each other warmer than necessary.
It was very early in the morning when you were woken up, the room was still dark, not even a hint of the dawn in the darkness so it was the sound that had disturbed you and after listening for a few seconds you heard it again, the deep, rolling roar of thunder. It lasted for as long as 10 seconds before fading into a heavy silence. Then the rain started, a gentle plink-plonk at first but within moments it was a downpour. Heavy rain drops slamming into the roof of the trailer and bouncing back up only to fall again. Then another rumble of thunder and a flash of bright white lightning.
“Eddie,” you whispered, grabbing at his arm and tugging gently, “Eddie, wake up,”.
Eddie snorted and shifted onto his back, turning his head and squinting at you.
“Was it?” he grunted, confused and upset by being woken up. His nose scrunched up and his eyes struggled to open.
“Listen,” you insisted quietly, grabbing hold of his forearm. His skin was hot to touch and clammy.
It took him a few seconds to realise what you were talking about, as he listened, his brows unfurrowed and his eyes eased open. He cocked his head to one side, the tangle of curls under his head crackling on the fabric of his pillow.
“It’s raining?” he asked, glancing at you.
“It’s a thunderstorm,” you replied with a grin.
“Awesome,” he said with a grin as he sat up and flung himself off the bed and across the small room to the window, yanking back the light curtain and taking in the scene.
The sky seemed to glow dark red and stormy grey, the clouds low and flat, hanging over the town like a wet blanket. The rain that was falling was fast and heavy and the clattering, pattering sounds it made caused a shiver to run up Eddie’s spine. Suddenly there was a deafening roll of thunder, so loud it felt like it was happening inside your head, it was followed only a second later by a fork of lightning that illuminated the whole sky as it raced toward the ground.
“Shit, that’s close,” Eddie said over the sound of the rain.
“It’s so cool,” you replied, standing next to him at the window.
The air outside was now much cooler and it whipped into the open window, bringing with it a smattering of rain. Eddie slipped his arm around your shoulders and pulled you close to him. The two of you watched three more lightning strikes, Eddie was certain that the last one must have hit his favourite picnic bench because the strike had been so close.
You were now a little bored with the weather and your attention turned to the man standing beside you. You turned your head and placed a gentle kiss on his jaw, then another soft kiss on his cheek before bringing one hand up his naked back and shifting his curls away from his ear so you could kiss the lobe of his ear. You felt Eddie shudder and watched his eyes close as you let your lips linger on such a sensitive spot for him.
"It's cooler now isn't it?" You said softly, turning your whole body so your front was now at his side, you placed one hand on his stomach, feeling the warmth and softness of his skin and the slight rasp of the hair that led down to his groin.
"Yeah, a bit," Eddie swallowed as your hand moved a little lower down his stomach.
You moved your head forward and snuggled into Eddie's neck, catching the smell of his sweat from his hair and his skin as you dragged your teeth against the soft skin.
"Let's go back to bed Eddie," you mewled, your hand slipping even lower on his stomach, feeling the distinct change in his body hair, from the loose curls of his happy trail to the tighter and coarser curls of his pubic hair.
Eddie swallowed hard, his cock already hardening and thickening at your touch. In less than an inch you'd be able to wrap your hand around the root of his dick and find him so ready to fuck. While the weather had been as hot and uncomfortable as it had been sex had been completely off the menu, neither of you liking the idea of any additional physical exercise than was strictly necessary.
Eddie grabbed hold of your wrist before you reached the apex of his thighs and brought your wrist up to his mouth, biting gently at the soft underside of your wrist where a few delicate veins rose up from under your skin, almost imperceptible to the eye but Eddie knew they were there and how it made you squirm when they were touched.
A thrill of pleasure ran around your naked body as his teeth caressed the delicate skin at your wrist before he kissed it softly.
"Bed please, my love," he whispered before letting your wrist go and giving you a little bump with his hip in the direction of the bed.
You smiled sweetly as you slipped out of his embrace and stepped back to the bed. Climbing on the end of the bed, glancing back over your shoulder while on all fours, finding Eddie watching you with his mouth open and a hungry look in his eyes.
"Like this?" You asked, wiggling your hips from side to side.
Eddie shook his head as he started to gather up his curls into an elastic he kept around his wrist.
"On your back baby," he replied as he tightened the bun at the back of his head.
You grinned, feeling your body’s Pavlovian response to seeing his hair tied back like that as you flipped over onto your back in the centre of the small bed, your head resting on the pillow as Eddie positioned himself comfortably between your thighs. He'd settled himself with his cock trapped between his stomach and the mattress so when the mood took him he could grind down on the mattress.
He ran his tongue over his lips as he looked up at your face, one of his forearms slipping around your thigh and lifted it onto his shoulder, your foot now resting on his back. His other hand pushed your other thigh aside, pushing your sex open for him. He made a sound of appreciation deep in his chest before he used two fingers to spread your slick lips open, exposing you even more intimately, giving him unlimited access to your clit, your entrance and with a tilt of your hips he'd have access to your tight asshole too. But right now, Eddie only had one thing on his mind.
"Hey sweetheart," he cooed softly, dipping his head forward and placing a soft, closed lip kiss just above your clit.
"I've missed you," he continued in a soft, lilting voice, placing another kiss just below your clit.
You made a soft purring sound, lifting your hips up a little, urging him to get to the main event. Eddie chuckled and gave you a very gentle slap on the thigh.
“Don't rush me," he insisted, lifting his head to speak to you, "we need to get reacquainted and she's shy," he added before touching the pad of his thumb to your clit, the sudden direct contact making you jerk your hips off the bed and your hands claw at the bedsheet.
"See?" He said with a grin as he cocked his eyebrow at you, "she's skittish,".
Eddie returned his attention to your pussy and continued his slow torture, kissing around your clit, occasionally giving a small lick either side but never touching it directly. In what felt like hours to you, but was only 2 minutes in reality Eddie had you rocking and twisting your hips, trying to force him to give you the contact you wanted.
"Eddie please, please please," you moaned as your hands fisted at the bedsheet.
Eddie chuckled softly, rubbing his chin against the thigh he had hooked over his shoulder.
"Needy, needy girl," he whispered sweetly before finally kissing your clit.
The bud was tight and thumping in time with your heartbeat and Eddie's wet mouth created an explosion of pleasure and pain as the thousands of nerve endings were stimulated in unison. You gave a strangled cry, bucking your hips up and bringing one of your hands down on the back of Eddie's head, holding him in place, rocking your hips against his open mouth, feeling the hot, wetness of his tongue as he danced it over and around your clit. There was no consistency to his movements yet so while pleasure rolled around your body you knew he wasn't trying to make you come yet. He was still holding back.
You moaned and bucked again, pushing Eddie's head down harder, feeling the press of his nose into your pubic mound.
"Eddie, fuck, Eddie," you groaned as you noticed for the first time the slow, undulating movements of his lower body.
You lifted your head up and watched his hips pressing and grinding down against the mattress, the muscles in his bare ass popping as he rolled his hips and clenched his glutes and thighs. The sight of him fucking at the mattress sent your body and mind spiraling as you dropped back onto the pillow and moaned loudly, your whole body suddenly more alive than ever.
Eddie's tongue was now constantly licking at your clit, his lips fixed around it  creating a hot, wet seal around the bud. Eddie let you buck and grind and hold his face down all you needed until you finally reached your peak. Your voice disappeared for a few seconds as you felt nothing but hot pleasure rushing around your body.
As your muscles clenched and stars exploded behind your eyes a streak of lightning raced across the sky, turning the room as bright as your body felt for a few seconds. Your hand released Eddie's head and he moved a little, not enough to break contact but to ease up on your clit, stopping the intense licking and changing back to soft kisses to draw out your climax until you were shaking and writhing, nothing but soft mewling noises coming from your mouth.
"Oh god," you moaned softly as Eddie moved his kisses to the inside of your thighs, his eyes travelling up your body to your face.
"That was so cool baby," he whispered, "you came so hard there was lightning,".
You gave a soft laugh, lifting your head to look at the sweet man between your legs, he was looking up at you, his big brown eyes looking soft and loving.
"Get up here and fuck me," you said, twisting a curl of his hair that had fallen loose around your finger.
"Fuck yeah baby," Eddie replied as he clambered up, crawling up your body, pushing your thighs apart and bringing his hard cock right to your waiting entrance.
You were both beyond ready so Eddie sank into you easily, placing his hands on your thighs and drawing them up his body so you cradled him either side of his chest. He rested with his forearms either side of your head and kissed you deeply and he pressed his hips forward, filling your body with his, making you whole and creating a passionate fusion of your two bodies and your two souls.
You broke away from his mouth and moaned his name, your hands clutching at his back, your nails digging deep and leaving red marks in his alabaster skin. Eddie hissed at the burn of your nails in his flesh but the hiss quickly turned to a laugh as he dipped his head and licked up the column of your neck to your chin before kissing you again, his tongue pushing into your mouth as he drew his hips back before driving forward again.
You broke away from his lips, taking a deep gasping breath as the head of Eddie's cock hit right against your g-spot. As the lights burst behind your closed eyes the sky seemed to shake with a huge rumble of thunder, it was so loud and so close it felt like it might have made the trailer shake but it was hard to tell if the shaking was the weather, or Eddie as he picked up his pace.
He moves from drawing out and pushing forward to grinding, keeping his cock buried deeply inside you and rocking his hips back and forth, meaning he was able to constantly stimulate you internally as well as externally, your clit now being rubbed by the muscles of Eddie's pelvis. You clawed at Eddie's back, crying out as you felt your second climax starting to build deep inside your belly.
"Eddie, oh God, Eddie," you breathed.
You moved your hands from his back to his face. Catching his cheeks between your hands and bringing his face close to yours, pressing your foreheads together. His face was sweaty and so was yours, your two sweats mingling on your skin.
You felt so completely connected to him it was overwhelming, Eddie was everywhere and, in that moment, he was everything as well. The intimacy of it all aided in pushing you over the edge very quickly, your orgasm burst outward with the power of an exploding star. Your legs gripping Eddie's chest and your arms dragging his upper body closer to yours so it was impossible to tell who skin was who's.
With a stuttering and guttural cry, taken by surprise by your suddenly gripping, milking pussy Eddie came, hard and deep. Filling you up as another rumble of thunder and flash of lightning split the sky.
The two of you seem to float, for a while, suspended in space and time, your bodies both corporeal and ethereal, human and divine. You come back to the sound of the pattering rain and the tickle of Eddie's curls, the weight of his body feels safe and the heat of his skin feels comforting.
"Eddie baby?" You said softly, stroking your fingers down his spine.
"Yeah?" He mumbled, his face pressed deep into the space beside your neck.
"You okay?".
"Baby," Eddie sighed, lifting himself up to look at your face, "that was the best," he grinned.
You giggled, more of the physical sensations of post sex coming back to you. An ache in your hips, a stretch between your thighs, and warm wetness on your thighs.
"It was good," you agreed.
"I think we should always have sex when there's a thunderstorm," he said sleepily as he moved, withdrawing his softening cock from you and flopping down beside, patting a spot on his chest where he wanted you to put your head.
You wriggled toward him and placed your head on his chest, his arm wrapped around your body and the two of you kissed deeply.
"I feel like we just conceived the anti-Christ or something," you said with a giggle.
Eddie scoffed and shook his head.
"Don't even joke," he replied, kissing the top of your head tenderly.
The rain seemed to be slowing and the rumbles of thunder sounded further away, the storm seemed to be rolling on, maybe waking up other young lovers as it went.
Eddie dropped off to sleep after a few minutes, his body and mind completely relaxed and satisfied. You stayed awake a little longer, the day was getting lighter by the second and Eddie's features were being revealed to you in glorious golden morning hues. You were contemplating how much he looked like an angel from a painting when you dropped off to sleep yourself.
The two of you woke up a second time when Wayne came home from his shift with paper bags of hot and greasy breakfast food. The three of you sat around the small table and ate. Wayne was tired from his shift and you and Eddie were dozy from being up half the night enjoying each other's bodies. The day after the storm was cooler, the air fresher. The plants seemed to be greener and the sky bluer and even the people seemed more friendly, Eddie's usually sullen neighbour greeting you when you stepped out of the trailer to find your rain soaked sneakers.
Eddie brought his guitar out that day and he sat beside you on the same sun lounger and strummed chords, humming tunes and making up nonsense songs. Songs about his D&D campaign, songs about summer, songs about love, and one about passionate nights while lightning splits the sky.
Hearing him recount the night before in his deep, rich singing voice sent shivers down your spine.
"You're not sharing that one with the band are you?" You asked as he came up with a lyric about how the sound of the thunder was second to the sounds you make when he’s inside you.
Eddie chuckled and shook his head.
"This one's just for you and me baby,".

Chapter Eight: The Yao Guai's Visit
Ch 1 - Ch 2 - Ch 3 - Ch 4 - Ch 5 - Ch 6 - Ch 7 - Ch 8 - More Coming Soon
Pairing: Cooper Howard/The Ghoul x Fem!Reader Summary: The two of you seek shelter for the night, enjoying a brief moment of domesticity before a glowing yao guai stalks through. Tags: Slow burn (and I mean SLOWWW), angst, eventually more smut, language, canon-typical violence, chem/alcohol use, more tags will be added Posted on AO3: Smoothie and The Ghoul Word Count: 1.7k
The two of you manage to find a ramshackle of a home. Sure, half the roof is missing and there’s a gross amount of radroaches but it feels like a haven compared to the risk of sleeping out in the open. Without wasting time, both of you start working - getting rid of the pests and settling into your newfound shelter.
While he gets a fire going in the more open area of the tiny dwelling, you sit on the floor, rummaging through your bag, contemplating what meal to prepare. You had discovered a few packaged meals like Blamco Mac and Cheese, Cram, and InstaMash from the Super Duper Mart. After a bit of consideration, you decide on Cram mac and cheese for tonight's dinner. You can't help but wonder, though - does he still have his taste buds? It's possible for some ghouls to retain some sense of taste. However, if he's been like this for two centuries, it's highly likely that his taste buds may have deteriorated.
You're grateful that those so-called sheriffs didn't confiscate your weapons or any items from your bag. Although you rarely use the pip-boy nowadays, it's handy for monitoring your health status and checking possibly high radiation levels in new areas. Seeing you fiddle with the device, the Ghoul decides to join you, taking a seat beside you as the fire roars into a steady blaze.
“Keep that on you. It will notify us if there’s any sizable mutants nearby.” He commands.
"Aye, aye captain," you half-heartedly salute him as you secure the pip-boy onto your wrist with a click.
Getting up, you make your way to what remains of the kitchen area and start rummaging for any cookware. After some searching, you find a decently sized pot, fill it with a carton of somewhat purified water from your bag, and position it over the fire. As you begin preparing the meal, The Ghoul silently observes, watching as you cut up the Cram into bite-sized pieces and add the macaroni pasta into the now boiling water. There was something so domestic about the whole thing, a rare moment of nostalgia washes over him, reminding him of a time when such simple comforts were more than just a distant dream.
After some time passes, you manage to create a modest dinner for the two of you. The effort you put into the meal is a bit surprising, but it's a welcome change from the usual scavenged scraps. The scent of the food wafting through the air adds a touch of comfort to the desolate surroundings.
"It’s too bad you can’t smell this," you joke as you hand him a serving with a bent spoon and an intact bowl you found. "I’m hoping you can at least somewhat taste it?"
With a glare, he quickly devours everything in the bowl before setting it down, offering a nod in your direction. He then leans against the nearby wall, the weight of the day's chaos settling between you. The silence that follows is a welcomed break, allowing you both to catch your breath and collect your thoughts. But as the quiet lingers, the unanswered questions from the day's events weigh heavily on your mind.
"What did that guy mean when he said you’re still looking for her?" you ask quietly, taking a bite of food.
"None of your damn business, Smoothie," he retorts, his tone sharp and guarded.
"Is it a wife or somethin'?" you press, unable to shake off your curiosity.
"If you don’t drop the subject, then I will shoot you," he warns, pulling his hat down to cover his eyes. Just as you're about to argue, the geiger counter on your pip-boy starts going off, the sound cutting through the tense atmosphere. The Ghoul looks up at you, alarmed, and rushes to put out the fire. As you stand up and look around for any sign of what could be causing the disturbance, you feel a sudden grip on your arm as he pulls you towards the wall, pressing you against it and covering your mouth with one of his hands.
“Shut the damn thing off,” he whispers urgently to you. You hastily flick through the device and manage to turn off the geiger counter, the sudden silence amplifying the tension in the room.
As you stand frozen against the wall, a hand tightly gripping your waist and another muffling your frightened gasps, he silences you with a shushing motion. The sound of a deep, rumbling growl resonates ominously from the other side of the wall, causing your heart to pound with such intensity that you fear the creature on the other side will hear it.
Desperate for any distraction, your eyes dart towards the nearby window, revealing a glowing yao guai leisurely strolling around the building. His gaze locks onto you, his eyes filled with intensity, as if he can sense the frantic rhythm of your racing pulse beneath your skin. His touch momentarily rubs circle on your waist, but he withdraws abruptly, as though realizing the inappropriateness of the gesture.
Gradually, the footsteps of the yao guai fade into the distance. The Ghoul slowly removes his hand from your mouth, and for a few lingering moments, the two of you simply gaze into each other's eyes. Overwhelmed by a surge of unexpected courage, you reach out and gently caress his cheek, feeling the rough yet surprisingly smooth texture of his scarred skin. Drawing closer, your lips tenderly brush against his.
"You don't want this, sweetheart," he murmurs softly, his words barely grazing your lips.
"And how could you possibly know what I want?" you challenge.
A mischievous smirk dances across his face as he leans in, his breath warm against your skin. "Well, considerin’ you keep referrin’ to me as 'beef jerky,' I'm inclined to believe that most people don't fantasize about dried meat."
"Maybe I do," you assert, the words barely a whisper as you close the gap between you two with a soft kiss. You can sense his hesitation as your part, a subtle tension in his body as he grapples with his own conflicting emotions. In a sudden, bold move, he leans in, capturing your lips with a hunger that takes you by surprise. A low, guttural moan escapes from his mouth, blending with your own as the kiss deepens.
His hand comes up to tug you towards him from the back of your head, intensifying the contact between you. The sensation almost leaves you breathless, eliciting a gasp that mingles with the shared breath between you. You bite his lower lip, a mix of playful teasing and unbridled longing in the gesture. He responds with a deep groan, the sound sending a thrill through you as he presses his hips into yours, the bulge of his arousal evident.
Your heart races as your hands glide down his neck, delicately tracing the contours of his skin. Your touch remains gentle and exploratory as your fingers nimbly unbutton his shirt, slipping beneath the fabric to reach his chest. Tracing the intricate patterns of his skin with care, you relish the intimacy of the moment. He twitches underneath your touch, his bare chest feeling the caress as if for the first time in ages.
Suddenly, he pulls back, his hand gripping your neck and pushing you away forcefully. He stares at you, his grip firm and unyielding. You're left wondering what caused him to snap. Could it have been because you touched his bare skin? You notice his expression shifts from intensity to a hint of vulnerability. His hand slowly releases its grip on your neck, and he takes a step back, creating a distance between you.
Stunned by the sudden denial, you watch as The Ghoul walks away and settles against the opposing wall. With crossed arms and a resigned posture, he leans his head back, uttering a soft “G’night” that hangs in the air like a final farewell to the intense moment you both shared.
Feeling a mix of emotions, you slide down the wall on your side of the room, your breath still heavy and your skin slightly damp with sweat. As you sit there, processing the abrupt end to the passionate encounter, you can't help but feel an anxious pang of rejection. The feeling begins gnawing at you, a heavy ache in your chest that lingers.
The morning sun finds you both silent and tense, caught in the aftermath of the previous night. The air between you is thick, filled with unsaid words and unaddressed feelings. Neither of you managed a good night's sleep, the discomfort of the cold, hard floor only a minor nuisance compared to the war within your minds.
As you both go about packing your things, each movement seems to echo loudly in the silence, punctuating the awkwardness that has settled between you. Neither of you dares to meet the other's gaze, the memory of the stolen kiss lingering in the air like a ghost.
In hindsight, kissing him was a foolish decision. You barely know him, and the little you do know paints him more as an uncompromising brute than a potential romantic interest. Despite the brief moments of camaraderie, he's been a prickly, distant companion for the most part. You find yourself questioning your actions, the taste of regret bitter on your tongue.
“So what’s the plan?” You attempt to lighten the mood, “Seems like we’re not after a head anymore.”
“We’re tracking a woman by the name of Moldaver. That's where the head is goin’,” he responds.
"Flame Mother…" you muse aloud, "I wonder what her deal is."
"I find myself askin’ the same about you," he murmurs almost inaudibly.
With an eye roll, you sling your bag over your shoulder, then give him a nod to signal that you're ready to hit the road. The Ghoul briefly mentions a letter he found on one of the men he shot up in Filly that references Moldaver. He believes that the same man was the son of an old associate of his, and that's where the two of you are headed - a long journey ahead. You take a deep breath, activate your pip-boy, and lock eyes with him. "Let's do this, beef jerky.”

Shun the Light - Ch 13 - The Talk
Slow Burn | Refuge | Decision | Mend | Hunger | Thin Mints | The Garden | Philip | Moments | Full Moon pt 1 | Full Moon pt 2 | Tend | Absolution |
Author's Notes: Just some long overdue conversation~
Content Warnings: werewolf whumpee, vampire caretaker, sprained ankle, recovery, emotional whump
----
One step at a time.
Matteo clings to the railing with both hands. He lowers his good leg first, then follows with his sprained one. His body protests each and every movement, but he persists, intent on reaching the living room. A record is playing low and Dante will be there, reading or drawing or some other hobby.
"Almost there...Almost there..."
"What do you think you're doing?"
He looks up to find Dante standing in the foyer with his hands on his hips. Matteo sighs and sits down on one of the steps.
"I never thought I'd say this, but I can't spend another minute in that bed. I needed a change of scenery."
And some company would be nice.
"You could have called for help. Did you at least take your medicine first?"
"What are you, my mother? Yes, I took it."
Dante gives in and goes to help him up. They make it to the living room without incident, where Dante eases Matteo into a recliner.
"Thank you," Matteo says quietly. He never wants to take the care he's been given for granted.
Once Dante has him settled he goes to the record player and turns the album over. He resets the needle and gentle instrumental music begins to play.
"All of the records are Mr. Townsend's," he says, motioning to a full shelf. "I never got to get my music...or any of my things."
Matteo relaxes into the chair and watches Dante return his spot on the couch and pick up a shirt he is in the process of mending.
"I get that. I didn't take much with me when I left home. And what I did bring I lost during a transformation."
"So...you left home because this happened to you."
"Yeah," Matteo admits quietly. It still hurts to think about. "On my first full moon the wolf wrecked my apartment. I got lucky that the tenant on the lower floor was away that week or god knows what might have happened. After that, I left the landlord most of my money for the damages, sent a letter telling my family I was traveling, and got out. Never looked back."
Dante hardly reacts, but there is a deep sadness growing in his eyes like gathering storm clouds.
"And the one who turned you," he asks carefully, "was it the boyfriend you told me about?"
"Yeah, the bastard. He must have known something would happen - he asked to stay over on the full moon. I never found out why, or why me. Maybe he wanted to kill me, maybe he wanted a...a mate or something." He makes a face at the thought.
Dante silently takes it all in while still working the needle in and out of fabric in a steady motion that's as relaxing to Matteo as the music.
"When it happens," Dante asks after a while, "you don't have any control?"
He sighs. "No. It's like I go to sleep and the wolf takes over. I don't remember a thing the next day - I just wake up with the consequences of whatever it did."
"Like jumping out of a third story window?"
"...no. That was all me."
Dante abruptly stops sewing and turns to stare at him.
"You were right there," Matteo tries to explain. "Another minute and it might have attacked you. I had to do something."
Dante slowly puts the shirt aside and gives Matteo his full attention. "You were protecting me?"
"Well, yeah. You let me stay here. Gave me food. You've been really good to me. I couldn't just let it rip your throat out."
"So you..." Dante almost laughs. "Wow. That was..."
"Stupid?"
"Brave."
Oh.
Matteo blames his post-moon hangover for the stinging in his eyes.
The two fall into a thick but comfortable silence, both reflecting on the things they have said and heard. Dante resumes his sewing and Matteo rests.
By the time Dante speaks again, the final song on the record is fading.
"The house has a fallout shelter. Maybe you can use it next time."
Matteo's heart skips a beat.
"Next time?"
"If you want to stay that long, of course. You can do whatever you want."
The offer is only for him to stay another month, but it's so much more than Matteo dared to hope for.
It takes him a moment to find his voice.
"Okay. Yeah. Yeah, it's worth a shot, right?"
Dante doesn't reply, doesn't look over. If Matteo wasn't watching him so intently he might miss the hint of a smile. But before it can fully take shape, Dante is up and crossing the room to change the record, and the moment is gone.

The Consequence of Late Night Calls
Tumblr media
Summary: You've been friends with Katsuki for years, and you've always thought it's been just that - friends. But when you get a late-night call, it might just change things.
AN: Last repost! The original post got eaten by Tumblr. I'm still really proud of this one. I wrote it back when I was first starting to publish fanfic and I like how it turned out.
Warnings: College au, drinking, language
The call shocked you out of a deep but impromptu sleep. You jerked up from the noise, a page of lecture notes sticking to your check. It fluttered back to the desk covered in its own mess of loose leaf documents, used textbooks that cost more than a weekend trip to Disney World, and a laptop missing three of its letter keys.
You dragged your tongue against your teeth, trying to get rid of the cotton feel coating the inside of your mouth. Rubbing stars into your tired eyes, you wondered when exactly you had fallen asleep. Was it somewhere near memorizing the latin terminology for court rhetoric or around reading the case file and trial records you were going to be tested over on Monday? Deciding wondering was basically pointless, considering you had pretty  much forgotten all of it anyway, you pawed blindly around for your phone.
“Hello?” You answered, eyes still closed, although it probably came out and more of a mumbled groan than anything else.
“(Y/NNNNNNNNN)!”
You pulled the phone away from your ear, wincing at the sudden loud noise. Blinking bleerally, you looked down at your phone. You had taken the caller ID picture a year ago, at a sorority Halloween party you barely remembered aside from the copious amounts of alcohol consumed followed by an ill-advised scavenger hunt that ended with a call to the police and the dean’s car somehow ending up in the agriculture department’s greenhouse crowded with Jack-O-lanterns. It was a profile shot of Bakugou Katsuki, his mouth opened in a mid-yell scowl, as was his standard expression, and eyebrows furrowed in annoyance. One hand extended to try and block the camera, the other clutching a brown bottle. He was wearing a fantasy barbarian king costume, chest bare to show off the taut muscles he worked so hard for all of high school to get. When he’d shown up in it, or, rather, when Kirishima had dragged him along in his own dragonborn costume, you couldn’t believe he still had it. You remembered sitting in your basement in 9th grade, pricking your fingers with a sewing needle as you and the rest of your newly formed D&D group, Bakugou and Kirishima included, spent way too much time and effort into creating your costumes.
Rubbing at the bridge of your nose in a vain attempt to chase away the headache you could already feel forming, you brought the phone back to your ear. You could hear the low thump of bass heavy music in the background.
“Hi, Suki,” You said, trying not to sound condescending, but it came out like that anyway.
“Hey!” He said sharply. The rest of his reply was slurred smooth. “I told you not to call me that.”
You smirked. “It’s cute.”
“It’s embarrassing! ‘M not cute.”
“No, you’re calling me at-” You pulled the phone away again to check the time. “Katsuki, it’s like two in the morning, what the hell?”
You heard someone shout something on the other side of the line that Katsuki mumbled a reply to. To you he said, “Was thinking about you.”
You felt yourself blush despite yourself. “You were thinking about me?”
There was a clunk and a bump. You could imagine him falling against a wall and sliding down to sit until the room stopped spinning. “Yeah. I don’t like it.”
You ignored the jab in your heart. “Well, thanks.”
“It keeps happening. I’ll just be, like, doing stuff, and then I just think, ‘What would (Y/N) think of that?’ ‘I wonder what (Y/N)’s doing right now.’ ‘(Y/N) would know what to do now. She’s so smart. And her hands look so soft. And her eyes are so pretty.’” He was quiet for a second. “It’s annoying. I can’t stop thinking about you. And it’s worse when you’re here.” There was a shuffling as you heard him try to stand up then give up again. “Why aren’t you here? I want you here.”
You were wide awake now. You clenched and unclenched your hand, trying to process the information your obviously drunk friend had just confessed. Your stomach churned in a mix of anticipation, anxiety, and straight up butterflies.
What the hell did all of that mean? Well, of course you knew what it meant, or you knew what it meant when spoken by a sober person of sound mind and body. But there was no way, you tried to rationalize, that The Bakugou Katsuki, the guy you’d known since freshman year of high school when he’d punched a guy who had flipped up your uniform skirt on the first day, the guy who had surprised just about everyone in home economics when he busted out a three tiered cake like it was no one’s business, the guy whos ego was big enough to have its own gravitational pull, was confessing his feelings to you in a drunk rant at two in the morning.
“Katsuki,” You said in a soft voice. “I-”
There was a retching sound from the other end of the line. Katsuki coughed, tried to say something, then threw up again. “Aw, fuck.”
That headache was back with avengence now. You sighed, looking for your keys. “Katsuki, where are you?”
“Uhh, on campus? At the Kappa Alpha Betta Whatever house. There’s a party. Why aren’t you here?”
“You know I hate all the Greek life bs. Stay where you are, okay? I’m coming to get you. You’re completely wasted.”
“‘M not. I can handle what I drink.” There was another pause before he wretched again.
“Did you just throw up again?”
“...No.”
“Cool. I’ll be there in ten.”
You didn’t wait for him to respond before hanging it. You didn’t think your heart could take it if he kept going on like he had been. Grabbing your keys and heading out of your crowded studio apartment, you hopped in your car to go save your drunk friend from making any other ill advised decisions that night.
You realized that you were probably over thinking the whole phone call as you drove through deserted streets. You couldn’t help it, it was a bad habit you had formed as a kid that now  made you obsess over court documents and testimonies in class. But now, instead of helping, it was picking you apart. What did Katsuki’s tone imply when he was talking to you just now? Could you trust the tone of an inebriated person? What did he mean when he said he thought about you a lot? You’d known each other for years now, being involved in almost all the same activities. Wouldn’t it be natural to think about someone you spent so much time with? But you’d known Kirishima for just as long, not to mention the rest of the self-named “Baku-Squad.” You’d never gotten a late night drunk call from any of them. Heck, Katsuki had known Izuku way longer than he had known you, and you were pretty dang sure Katsuki had never called him going on and on about how he always thought about him.
Stopping at a red light, you pressed your forehead into the soft faux-leather of your steering wheel, willing your thoughts to calm down and just come to a rational conclusion already. Expect, you know, a rational conclusion that wasn’t that the guy you had carried a torch for for almost as long as you had known him might actually have feelings for you back.
You turned on to the street lined with sororities and fraternities across from the main campus. You had to slam on your breaks almost immediately to avoid running over a tipsy, giggling co-ed who was stumbling out into the road. She didn’t even look up at you.
You didn’t know exactly which house Katsuki was stranded at, considering you could see at least three different parties all going on at first glance. His “Kappa Alpha Betta Whatever” wasn’t very helpful, either, considering all the Greek letters adorning the houses blended together in your mind at some point. And you really didn’t want to tramp through a bunch of different houses tonight.
Thankfully, you were saved the trouble when you saw Kirishima’s 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle park half off the curb in front of one of the houses. You’d know that car anywhere. Kirishima had dragged your group to various scrap yards and auto-repair stores all summer after he got his license, the first of you all to do so, in an effort to fix up the worn down Chevelle that he’d bought for a hundred bucks and a turkey sandwich.
You parked on the other side of the street then jogged across to the house that was practically vibrating with heavy music and Greek life energy. Stepping over a semi-conscious frat boy laying in the doorway, you scanned around the house for any sign of Katsuki’s pomeranian-puff-ball hair.
You spotted Denki lounging on a couch, a lampshade on his head and a tangle of phone chargers clutched in his fist. His hand sparked every now and then as he used his quirk to recharge the collection of phones.
You lifted up the edge of the lampshade. “Hey there, Pikachu.”
“Heeeeeey~” He said, giving you a thumbs up. You could already tell he was too far gone, although you didn’t know if it was from drinking or the over use of his quirk.
“(Y/N)!” You heard a voice call behind you. A body fell heavily against your back. Sero wrapped his arms around you in a backwards hug. “Where you been? We missed you!”
“Studying. I’m boring, remember? I’m looking for Katsuki, you seen him around?”
Sero snickered. “Bakugou, huh? He’s been looking for you for a long time, right, Denki?”
“Heeeeeey~”
You swallowed hard. “And what’s that supposed to mean?”
Sero snickered again, flopping on the couch next to Denki. “Can’t tell. Part of the bro code. And he said he’d kill me.”
“That does sound like Katsuki.”
Sero covered his eyes with his arm, head leaning back. With a wide smile, he waved his hand in the vague direction to the back door. “I think he’s out by the pool or something.”
You waved bye. “Thanks, I’ll go check it out. You guys take care of yourselves, okay?”
“Look at ‘em go,” Sero said to Denki as you left. “You think they’ll have a spring wedding?”
“Heeeeeey~”
*~~~~*
You managed to weave your way through the crowd of bodies clogging the house to finally spill out into the back yard. You had no idea how people were able to stay this energized this late into the night with this many other people around. You remembered once being stuck at another party, early on in your college days. When it became super clear you didn’t want to be there, overwhelmed by the noise, the crush of bodies, and the suffocation of social enterprise, Katsuki had dragged Kirishima over to you, planting him in front of you as your ‘extrovert shield.’  He’d stayed with you behind the boisterous redhead for the rest of the night.
You wondered if Katsuki remembered doing that, if he remembered any of the small nice gestures he did for you over the years. And now, with his call, with what Sero said, with your over analyzing brain, you were dissecting every interaction you could remember. Was the time he opened a door for you a signal? Was the reason he would ask to study with you for chemistry, when he was way better in practically every subject than you, just so he could be close to you? Were the times he had given you his jacket when you were cold meant to be a more intimate moment?
God, you were going to go crazy.
Walking around the pool, you finally spotted the hot-headed blond. He was sitting slouched over on the end of one of the reclining pool chairs, forearms braced on his knees.  You almost called out to him, stopping cold when you saw the girl behind him. She had draped herself over his back, chin rested in the crook of his neck, one had massaging his shoulder, the other conspicuously sneaking under the hem of his shirt to rub circles on his abs.
You clenched and unclenched your hands, worry gnawing at you as a headache at the back of your skull. Had something changed between the time he had called you and now? Had there been nothing there to change at all? Had you been misreading this situation the whole time?
Katsuki looked up, his permanently affixed scowl even deeper. The second his jewel-red eyes met yours, you felt your heart skip a beat. He jumped to his feet so fast the girl behind him fell back against the chair. He tried marching over to you, which was made only slightly less intimidating by the drunk sway to his step.
You didn’t remember him being so tall. You’d just seen him this afternoon. There was a flushed blush across his face, adding a surprising softness. Were his arms always that strong looking? Were his eyes that piercing? Was his jaw that strong?
“You came,” He said, voice rough as whiskey soaking into gravel.
You spread your hands. “Well, you said my name three times, so, here I am!” You laughed nervously, trying to ignore how his gaze pinned you down.
He took another step towards you, hand reading up. “(Y/N), I-”
His cheeks turned from pink to green. Lurching to the side, he vomited into the pool. You tried to help him back up, hunched over and trying to catch his breath. The crowd of people around you groaned in disgust before rolling in to sarcastic applause. Katsuki flipped them off.
“Alright, Suki,” You said, rubbing his back. “Let’s get you back home.”
He grumbled, leaning his full weight against you. You almost stumbled and fell with the sudden shift of balance. Katsuki slid his arm around your waist, hand firmly grasping your hip, as if he was the one trying to prevent you from a drunken stumble. His fingers felt like fire through your clothes.
You decided to go around the house instead of trying to push your way through it. Soon you were making your way across the street. It took some maneuvering to unlock and open the passenger door. You practically dropped Katsuki in where his head fell back with a groan. You grabbed his seat belt and stretched across him to fasten it. It wasn’t until he started petting your hair that your realized your position of half-way laying across his lap. You jerked back, some of your hair getting caught in his fingers. He made a disappointed sound at the loss of it.
You slid back into the driver's seat, trembling hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. You had to take a few steadying breaths before you were ready to start the car. Pulling out of the neighborhood, you glanced over at Katsuki. His eye brows were furrowed, eyes closed, mouth pulled in a small frown.
God, he looked adorable.
You hit the break harder than you meant to at the light. Adorable? Where the hell did that thought come from? He’d probably be furious if he knew you ever thought that.
But…
You risked another look at him. When he let his face relax like this, you could see the slight chub that still clung to his cheeks. Another thing he would hate to know that you thought was how much you loved the softness that it leant him. It was cute.
Almost without your realizing it, you lifted your hand. You were overcome with the sudden urge to poke his cheek. A car horn blared behind you when your finger was less than an inch from his face. You let out an undignified squeak, hands slamming back to the wheel. Katsuki grumbled and turned in the seat, head resting against the window. You could feel the blush burning up your face.
A few minutes later, you pulled back to the apartment complex. You both lived in the same building, Katsuki directly below your own unit. And now you were overthinking his reason for not living on campus.
When you opened the passenger door, Katsuki almost fell out. You jerked forward to catch him then dragged him out. He half woke up, as feeble on his legs as a newborn horse.
You lugged him through the lobby. He was muttering under his breath, but most of the words you could make out were curses. Not unusual for him. You pressed the button for the elevator repeatedly. It just blinked back at you. You sighed in frustration. They had been doing maintenance on your building all week, but now might have been the absolute worst time to do the elevator.
You shook Katsuki’s shoulder a little bit. His head jostled like a bobble-head. “Suki, I’m gonna need your help here for a minute.”
His head lolled forward, forehead coming down to press to yours. In a quiet voice, he whispered, “I’d do anything for you.”
You shoved him upright, face burning. “Then walk up the damn stairs yourself!”
Despite that, you still ended up half-carrying him up four flights of stairs. You were uncomfortably sweaty when you reached the door to Katsuki’s apartment. The two of you had traded copies of your apartment keys when you had moved in. “In case something happens to your dumb ass and I need to come save you,” He had said. He would frequently stop by, usually when you were hours deep into an all-nighter. He’d bring his laptop and work on whatever 12 page essay way due on your bed while you poured over case reports. You’d sit in silence, just together, sharing the same space, content with nothing more than knowing the other was nearby. Or he’d bring you real food to make sure you weren’t just eating ramen all the time. In turn, you’d pull him out for game night with the squad, make sure he’d actually call his mother once in a while, and lend an ear to his semi-nightly rants on whoever he decided to hate that night.
You fumbled with the keys, jamming the key in the lock then pushing it open with your shoulder that wasn’t currently occupied by a half-asleep, full-drunk boy who had at least 50 pounds and ten inches on you.
There was always an expectation with the rooms of single college boys. Greasy pizza boxes, empty bottles of booze displayed like expensive decor, at least one poster of a half-naked girl somewhere, probably a basket of clothes that should have been washed weeks ago. And while you knew plenty of guys who fit that description, Katsuki defied expectation. His apartment was always immaculate. His shoes were lined neatly by the door, a calendar above his desk  color-coded with assignment due dates, bed made. Katsuki may give off the persona of a punk, but you knew he was a straight-laced nerd through and through.
With the last of your strength, you lugged him across the room, dropping him on his bed. With a groan, you stretched your arms up until you heard a satisfying pop in your back. Hands on your hips, you watched as Katsuki moaned, burying his face in his pillow and pulling his feet up from the floor. You sat on the end of the bed, tugging his feet to you to unlace his shoes. You let them fall haphazardly to the floor, too tired to care about his level of neatness.
You grabbed a bucket from his hall closet, putting it next to the head of his bed for when he inevitably woke up vomiting in the morning. Checking his bathroom, you put a couple of painkillers and a glass of water on the nightstand with a post-it note saying “Drink Me.”
Brushing your hands off, you looked around and checked your work. Satisfied that he wouldn’t kill himself between now and when you would inevitably check on him in the morning, you decided it was finally time to head back upstairs and get some well deserved sleep.
But…
You turned back at the door. Katsuki was splayed like a starfish, gently snoring with his mouth wide open. You also noticed his blushing red fluffy cheeks.
You tapped the door knob a few times before sighing in surrender to temptation and turnin back. You knelt down next to the bed. For a moment, you just watched him sleep. He looked so peaceful now. You reached out. Your index finger sunk into his cheek like it was a marshmallow. You couldn’t believe you had never done this before. God, he really was adorable.
Your thoughts were abruptly cut off as Katsuki’s hand shot up and grabbed your wrist with an iron grip. With a shriek, you tried to scramble backwards. Katsuki lazily opened his eyes, not at all bothered by your struggles. With seemingly no effort on his part, he tugged you forward. Off balance, you fell into his chest. Katsuki wrapped his arms around you in a bear hug, slinging a leg over yours, trapping you on the bed.
“Katsuki!” You hissed. You squirmed in his hold, not getting any extra room. He just hummed, nuzzling into the crook of your neck. You were pretty sure your face was hot enough to start a fire. “Katsuki, let me go!”
“No,” He mumbled. His voice rumbled against your skin sending shivers through your whole body.
“Katsuki!”
“You can’t leave. If you leave, you won’t come back.”
You stopped struggling. “What are you talking about?”
He squeezed you tighter. “I’m loud. I get angry real easy. I fight a lot. And you…” He trailed off, his breath catching and rattling in his chest. “You’re so much better than me. You’re nice and smart and talented and pretty and caring and… and…” You could feel the hot tears landing on your skin. He was starting to shake. His grip had loosened enough for you to get out, but instead you brought your arms up and pulled him in closer. “If I let you go, you’ll see how much better you are than me. And you’ll leave. You’ll leave me because you’re better and you deserve so much better. But I’m a selfish bastard and I just want you for myself because I love you so damn much.”
Your heart dropped into your stomach. You wiggled your hand up, threading your hand into his hair and tilting his head to look up at you.
“I love you too,” You said softly. “And I’m not going anywhere.”
Katsuki crushed you to his chest, letting out another loud sob. You could feel hot tears pressing against your eyes. You had no idea Katsuki felt this way about anything; about you, about himself, about your relationship.
But one thing you knew for sure: You loved Bakugou Katsuki.
~~~
The first thing Katsuki noticed when he woke up was the head ache. His head felt like he had a railroad spike jammed through his temples. God, what did he do last night? There was the party at Kappa Alpha Betta Whatever house. It’d been fine for a while, hanging out with the guys, playing beer pong, winning some extra cash from freshman in poker (where did he put that money anyway?). And then…
And then someone had said your name. He’d heard it across the room, an amazing feat in and of itself, but his ears were trained for any news of you. He’d jerked up right when he heard it, missing his shot at the beer pong table. He gladly took his drink and went prowling through the house. Who had said your name? Were you here? Were you coming?
It might have been selfish, he knew how much you hated loud crowds, but damn it, he wanted you here. He remembered the last Greek life party you had been at. He’d lost you at some point between getting into an argument with that damn Deku and pulling Denki down from a keg stand. He’d finally found you huddled into some back corner, looking like a rabbit about to dart from a hungry fox (he wouldn’t mind being that fox, honestly, he could eat you right up.) You’d lost the color in your face, hands shaking as you clutched your red Solo cup almost hard enough for your nails to pierce the plastic.
He snatched Kirishima by his collar as he carved a path through the room. He planted the extroverted red-head in front of you, creating an extrovert shield between himself and the love of his life you. He’d spent the rest of the night talking to you. Nothing special, he couldn’t even really remember what about. But he did remember the relaxed slope of your shoulders, the spark in your eyes, the smile that played on your lips at whatever lame joke he had just made.
Back in the present (or last night, whatever), he was still stalking through the halls looking for whoever had mentioned you. He heard it again, the tail end of your name, coming from the living room.
“-(/N) never had it so good.” There he was, lounging along the bottom stairs with a smug look on his face as he regaled the small crowd he had attracted. Katsuki recognized him as one of those legacy kids, the one who showed up to the first day of orientation in a sleek black Bugatti and took up three parking spaces, talked in almost every one of his classes when he even bothered to show up, and was, without a doubt at every party on or off campus.
And now he was telling a story about you. What were you ever doing with an asshole like him?
“You would never guess it from how she dresses, you know,” The guy continued, lazily waving his half-empty beer bottle. “But she is stacked.”
Katsuki tensed up, his heart jumping into his throat. He pushed aside the crowd until he stood right in front of the bragger on the stairs. “What did you just say?” He asked through clenched teeth. “You're talking about (Y/N) (L/N), right?”
He lazily swept his gaze up, grinning wide when he saw Katsuki. “Yeah, (Y/N)? You know, she comes across as a frigid bitch, but let me tell you, she’s an incredible lay.” Katsuki’s vision went red. The crowd started to subtly shuffle away, feeling the cold change in atmosphere. “Not much besides that, honestly. Thank god her tits and ass are amazing, cause her face sure wasn’t doing it for me. Super boring, too, heard she’s failing her classes. Oh, well. Hey, I could use a side-piece when I’m running my own firm, you know?”
The asshole never saw it coming. In the span of a heart beat, Katsuki had grabbed his designer jacket and hoisted him off the stairs, pinning him to the wall so his feet kicked to try and reach the ground.
“You listen to me, asshole,” Katsuki hissed. “You never talk about (Y/N) again. You never look at her, you never talk to your shit-stain friends about her, you sure as fuck never tell another lie about her, or so help me, you’ll get to find out what color your liver is.”
Katsuki was half-way sure the jerk had pissed his pants. He dropped him in a heap, landing in the puddle of spilled beer on the floor. He brushed his hand off on his jeans, eager to get whatever germs the gossip had off him.
He was almost out of ear shot when he heard the rich kid spit and say, “Fine. She’s probably crawling with it if you’re dicking her down.”
The kid’s head made a dent in the wall as he richoched back from the impact of Katsuki’s punch. He would easily have a black eye and a broken nose, the chipped tooth would just be a  bonus.
Katsuki’s head was fuzzy with rage, stalked through the house, bee-lining it to the nearest source of inebriation. How dare he? How fucking dare that absolute ass-wipe ever even think of saying such horrible things about you? He wasn’t even worth knowing your name, much less saying it. Not to mention the fact he must be blind to think you were anything less than stunning. Ever since he had known you, you had been nothing but kind and smart and caring and funny and…
“Baku-bro, you doing okay?”
Katsuki didn’t realize how tight he was holding his fists until he relaxed. His nails had made half-moon indents in his palms, his knuckles brushed red from the punch.
Kirishima had his mouth pulled down in that stupid puppy dog pout. “I’m fine,” Katsuki brushed him off. He grabbed a beer out of an iced cooler, twisting off the cap in a single motion and chugging half the bottle.
“Well, that’s good, cause I don’t think Tim Flood is making it out of here without a few stitches.”
“Good.” Katsuki finished the beer and chucked it into a recycle bin. He grabbed another and stalked out of the room. Everything felt too hot, too tight. His head was pounding. If you were here, you’d get a bag of ice and press it against his forehead. You’d probably call him an idiot for getting into another fight, that he needed to learn how to manage his temper better. He’d call you a dumbass but let you lead him away somewhere dark and quiet, away from all the other more insufferable dumbasses. You’d find some pain killers, get him some water, because that’s just the kind of caring person you were. Maybe you’d bring him upstairs, lead him to an unoccupied bedroom. The two of you would sit together on the bed, maybe just a little too close. You’d hand him the water, his hand would brush against yours. You’d look down, shy, blushing cutely. He’d lean forward, thread his hand through your incredibly soft hair, angle your face up to him. Your plush lips would part slightly and he’d lean forward and -
“Are you sure you’re good?” Kirishima asked, abruptly cutting off Katsuki’s impromptu fantasy. “Cause you don’t look so good.” Katsuki bit his tongue. “Is it because of what that guy said about (Y/N)?” Katsuki whipped around, glaring daggers. Kirishima smiled and put his hands up in mock surrender. “Hey, bro, it’s okay! No one believed him, anyway.”
Katsuki scoffed, taking a swig of the beer. “(Y/N)’s too good for him anyway.”
“I bet you think (Y/N)’s too good for everyone here, right?”
“The hell is that supposed to mean?”
“It means you need to hurry up and tell (Y/N) you like her!” Sero shouted, jumping in out of nowhere.
Katsuki dropped his bottle, Kirishima catching it just in time, and grabbed Sero by the front of his shirt and lifted him up. Sero just grinned his stupid, wide grin.
“Come on, Katsuki,” Denki said, slinging an arm around Katsuki’s shoulders. “We all know you’ve had a thing for (Y/N) since high school. Why don’t you just put us all out of our misery and tell her already?!”
Katsuki felt his face heat up. “I don’t- I haven’t - Fuck you!”  Katsuki couldn’t remember why he was friends with these three idiots as they all burst out into laughter.
 He snatched his bottle back and pushed through the crowd. He needed some air. He heard Sero yell after him, “You have to tell her eventually!”
And… That was mostly it. Katsuki’s memories of last night sort of started to trail off after that. He knew that he drank, he drank a lot. At some point he ended up by the pool. And maybe he’d called someone? Oh, hell, he hoped he hadn’t called someone.
His eyes snapped open at the soft groan. There you were, just inches away from his face, fast asleep and tucked in his arms. You were pressed close, breasts pushing against his chest, legs tangled with his, one hand clutching his shirt. Your lips were parted ever so slightly, breathing heavy and even.
And you were so fucking close.
Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck. His arms tightened around you and he tensed. How the hell did this happen? Did you actually come to the party last night? When, and why? What had called you down there-?
Oh. Oh, the call! He had called you last night? Some time in his drunken haze he must have figured out to bypass the timed lock he had put on it specifically to avoid calling people with a too-honest tongue. But had you…?  Nervously, he looked down. He sighed in relief. You were both still dressed. At least that was one mistake he knew he hadn’t made.
Alright, that was one problem. Now, on to the next one: How was he going to get out of here without waking you up? Craning his head around, he checked out the room. Wait, this was his room. He was in his apartment! A picture of last night started to form in his mind. He’d called you, blabbering God knows what, and then you’d been a good person (why were you such a good person?) and had come to get him, to make sure he was okay. And then what? He’d somehow seduced you into his bed? No, it was more likely you had stayed to make sure he didn’t choke on his own vomit, maybe sat on the bed because it was the middle of the night and you were exhausted, and then… This.
Okay, okay, no, this was fine, he could fix this. He could slip out, let you keep sleeping. He’d make some breakfast in the kitchen and then you’d wake up, wander in rubbing the sleep from your eyes in that cute way you did when you pulled an all-nighter studying. He’d chastise you for lugging his drunk ass up here, for being out so late at night. You’d wave him off, compliment his cooking, tell him to take better care of himself, and then smile up at him with that blindingly beautiful smile and sparkling eyes.
“Morning.” Katsuki yelped at your greeting. He stared, wide-eyed, down at you, as you look back up at him lazily with those sparkling eyes. “It’s kinda hard to breathe here.” He realized then just how tight he was holding you. He jerked backward, his shout of surprise cut off as he fell off the bed. He rubbed his sore hip, looking up when he heard your giggle. You were leaning over the bed, smiling shyly when he caught you staring.
He gulped hard, feeling his face burning up. “Hi.”
You tucked a loose threat of hair behind your ear. “Hi.”
He should say something. He needed to say something. God, why wasn’t he saying something?
“I-“ Katsuki stopped with an incomplete thought in his mouth. He suddenly felt uncomfortably hot, his stomach clenching and throat going dry. Your face dropped as you lunged forward, dragging a bucket in front of him (where did that even come from?). He surged forward, clenching the sides of the bucket in a white knuckled grip, and threw up.
You slid off the bed and knelt next to him. You rubbed small circles in his back, whispering small comforts as he coughed up bile and alcohol and who knows what else. You reached over behind him and grabbed a glass of water from his nightstand.
“Here,” You said. “Rinse and spit. Don’t swallow or gargle, it’ll just mess with your gag reflex.” Rubbing the spike of pain growing in his forehead, he did what you said. When he caught his breath, he accepted the pain killers you had and dry swallowed them. You really had prepared for everything, huh?
Katsuki shoved the bucket away with his foot, leaning back against the bed. “Fuck…”
You hummed in response and scooted to sit next to him. “So,” You said.
“So,” He said back.
“I don’t suppose you remember much from last night?”
He clenched his jaw, mouth going dryer than it already was, if that was possible. He tried to laugh, but it sounded forced and strained, even to him. “Hey, we’re both still wearing pants, right?” You didn’t laugh back.
“So that’s a no then?” The seriousness with which you said that made him pause.
“I, uh, think I called you?”
“MmHmm. You didn’t sound too great, so I came to pull you out.”
“Huh. Thanks for that.”
“Yup.” You paused for a second. “Do you remember… anything else you said?”
Fuck.
“Uhh, I owe you breakfast?”
You looked away. “Is there anything you maybe told Sero that you wouldn’t want him to tell me?”
Double fuck.
“If this is about Halloween last year, Mina was the one who brought the Ouija board.” He smirked at you, waiting for you to laugh with him. Instead you didn’t even look up, staring a hole in the carpet with the intensity of your gaze.
You let out a sigh through your nose, pushing off your knees to stand. “I’m gonna head out,” You said, rubbing the back of your head and still not looking at him.
Katsuki jumped up, immediately regretting as his head began swimming. “(Y/N), wait-“ He cut himself off with another surge of nausea and lurched towards the bucket.
“Katsuki,” You said, sounding frustrated. “Look, I…” You sighed, running a hand through your hair and turning back to him. “We’ve known each other for a long time now, right? And for all the time I’ve known you, you’ve been stubborn and pig-headed and aggressive and just, you know, you. But still, in all that time, despite everything, I still…” You pressed your lips, looking for the right words. “I’m happy when I’m around you, Katsuki. I feel at ease, I feel protected, I feel like I can be better at anything. And I’ve thought about this a lot, so much that it makes my head spin and my heart hurt, but through all the trouble I still think it’s worth it. Because at the end of the day it means I still get to be with you and sometimes I just feel like that’s enough, but now I…” Your lip was trembling, tears gathering at the corners of your eyes. Katsuki wanted nothing more than to take a big step forward and wrap you in the biggest, tightest hug of your life. Finally, you sighed in defeat. “But if you can’t say it, if the One and Only Katsuki Bakugou can’t say it, then how the hell can I?”
Your voice broke on the last word. Katsuki was so stunned and suddenly pinned with guilt that he couldn’t move when you spun on your heels and rushed out of his apartment.
Oh, fuck.
~~~
“Idiot,” You murmured to yourself as you fled up the apartment stairs, furiously wiping at your eyes to get rid of the oncoming tears. “Idiot, idiot, idiot.” By the time you reached your apartment and slammed the door behind you, you weren’t sure if you were talking about Katsuki or yourself.
You felt sick. Anxiety gnawed at your mind like a starving coyote. Had you really just confessed your feelings to Katsuki? Had you really just confessed your feelings to Katsuki like that? Would he ever speak to you again? Would things just become too awkward that you’d be edged out of your friend group? They had known Katsuki much longer than they had known you, after all. God, what if he was calling Kirishima right now and telling him about the disaster of a morning, after you had taken advantage of his blitz out state and slept in the same bed with him?
Well, no. Kirishima was probably still knocked  out from his own night of heavy imbibing. Not to mention that even he, the most kind-hearted and patient person you knew, would have to draw a line at listening to Katsuki rant while dealing with a massive hangover.
And no, Katsuki wouldn’t do that to you. Despite his rough deminor, his abrasive personality, and his profane tongue, Katsuki was actually a sweetheart deep down. Maybe really deep down, but still. He wouldn’t be so intentionally cruel, even if you told him that you shared all of his baby pictures of him playing in his All Might onesie online.
So then why were you still huddled on a heap on the floor, back pressed against the front door, crying? Why was this pit of loneliness blooming in your chest?
You yelped at the sudden banging on the door. Who could be here so early in the morning? You had paid rent this month, right? You sniffed, rubbing your eyes and smoothing out your clothes. You hoped your cheeks weren’t the blotchy red they got whenever you were upset. You took a deep breath to steady your voice for whoever was outside.
Opening the door, you looked up at a wide-eyed Katsuki, panting hard with determination set on his face. You groaned internally.
“Katsuki,” You began,” About what I said, I’m sorr-”
Without waiting for you to finish, Katsuki surged forward. You tried to take a step backward, almost falling, but he caught you, a strong grip on your shoulders. Without waiting for you to get your bearings, Katsuki leaned in, smashing his lips against yours.
It wasn’t a graceful kiss, all clashing teeth and urgency rather than romance. His eyes were screwed closed. He stayed pressed against you, not moving, grip so tight on your upper arms you thought there might be a mark later.
Just as suddenly as he had come forward, he jerked back, but kept his hold on you. You both breathed heavily, eyes locked. Your mind whirled, a hundred voices shouting at the same time. For once, you decided to ignore them and let your body do what it wanted.
You reached up, wrapping your arms around Katsuki’s neck and pulled him back in. This kiss was controlled, soft and sweet. His hands dropped from your shoulders to wrap around your waist. He pressed in harder, adding desperation in the kiss, as if he thought you would vanish any second. When you both pulled away this time, he leaned his forehead against yours, noses bumping into each other, sharing the same breath.
His voice was rough. “Sorry,” He said. “I had to brush my teeth first.”

some more fluffy averyjameson? <333
yess my favs <333
he always makes sure that she sleeps well and asks how well she slept every morning
and if she didn't sleep well he'll ask her why and make sure that she takes a nap or she sleeps well the next night
she likes to play with his hair and always makes sure it looks good for events because otherwise it's really messy all the time (even though she thinks its cute alisa says she needs to fix it)
he always tells her that she looks cute/beautiful/pretty in the clothes that she wears
avery isn't that short but he still makes fun of her because she's shorter than him
even though he always goes all out for her birthday he always makes sure to get her something small and meaningful
i think that @riddles-n-games said this but when jameson was in highschool or something he played soccer/lacrosse so she's always trying to find videos of him playing so that she can tease him for it
they watch super cringy movies/ yt videos at night sometimes because they have nothing better to do (MSA 💀)
he tells her that her eyes are pretty whenever they're in sunlight (same with her like i bet his eyes are GORGEOUS in the sun like why can't he be real)
sometimes when they're alone her media trained personality will go away and she'll start getting super exciting and ranting about it and he'll just sit there and listen to her
i came up with this hc for one of @x-liv25-jamieswife posts, but not only does jameson beef with avery's celebrity crushes but whenever he sees her looking at stuff to do with them he says stuff like "erm i'm better than him"
sometimes at events and stuff while she's talking to people he'll come up behind her and hug her and occasionally add his commentary
whenever he calls her pretty, she says "you are too" and he's always confused by it but yk... the girls (max) who get it get it if you know what i mean
sometimes they go through a mcdonalds drive through or something and just sit in the parking lot and talk and....stuff
she plays with his hoddie strings sometimes or if he wears a necklace

TOMORROW'S ESCAPE
Tumblr media
prologue
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the wind was gently blowing your hair behind you as you walked to the concert venue. the warm spring breeze only added to your happiness. you could hardly believe you were finally going to see your favorite idol in concert after spending months saving up for tickets.
after an accident had left you hospitalized for nearly two years, you found it difficult to get back into your life. you couldn't finish college or find a stable job due to the incident, but it all seemed worth it as you saw the concert venue in the far distance. you sighed in relief, finding happiness in the fact that you would soon be seeing your favorite idol.
however, the sudden sound of a notification distracted you. pulling out your phone, you see a new tweet from dispatch, causing you to click it out of curiosity while waiting to cross the street.
the news you see causes your heart to drop.
you read the simple tweet over and over again, struggling to comprehend if it was a joke or not. your heart starts beating rapidly and you fall to your knees, clutching onto your phone as you feel tears forming in the corners of your eyes.
your breathing gets harsher as you close your eyes, struggling to gain composure. you can hear cars stopping to check on you and people running towards you, all worried about the young adult kneeling on the ground.
"hey, are you okay?"
"somebody call an ambulance!"
"miss, do you need some assistance?"
voices called out to you, but your thoughts were far louder than anything else. and no matter how many people tried to reach out to you, their faces were blurry from your tears that never seemed to end.
it didn't make sense to you. how was it possible that sunghoon died? he had posted just an hour earlier and he should've been preparing for the concert. surely he had a security team with him, or at the very least his manager. all these thoughts flood your mind as you feel your heart beating faster than it ever has before.
'i could save him' you think to yourself as you fall into unconsciousness. you might not be the smartest or strongest person in the world, but you wholeheartedly believed you could do it. when it came to sunghoon, you were just about ready to do anything for him. after he saved your life, the least you could do was return the favor.
the sound that you wake up to is the sound of somebody tapping.
"hey, y/n! no sleeping in class!" a familiar voice shouts at you from your left.
you stir awake, blinking your eyes as you try and focus on the person next to you. you sit up slowly, looking around slowly.
"'class'?" you mumble out quietly, looking around as your eyes adjust to the light. despite the tears you must've shed, your eyes felt strangely fine, albeit tired.
"are you daydreaming? you need to focus up if you want to get good grades," the man says, shaking his head in disappointment.
as you look clearly at the man, looking up at him from your seat with wide eyes, you notice his bald head and short stature. you could never forget the way his head glistened whenever it became hotter than 60 degrees fahrenheit. this was your 12th grade calculus teacher, somebody you hadn't seen in 6 years. and when you turn your head to see dell, your face pales at the sight.
dell was sitting there wearing a t-shirt she had claimed to lose about 6 years ago right after high school.
"hey, are you alright? why are you looking at me like that?" dell questions you, raising an eyebrow as you look at her with wide eyes.
as you look around the classroom, you try and find an explanation for everything. this could've been a dream or it could've been an unfunny prank somebody had pulled on you.
however, when you look down at yourself, you find something that couldn't have been possible.
you were wearing the exact same friendship bracelet dell had made for you back in middle school, something that was, or at least should've been, destroyed in your accident. nobody knew about the bracelet besides you and dell, and dell would never play such a horrible prank on you.
there was only one explanation—you had gone back in time.

Cream Filling: Chapter Five
No content warnings this time, some good old fashioned fantasy and smut.
Buzzing rattled the nightstand. Elle blindly groped across the wood, snatching up the phone and putting it to her ear.
“Huh?” She blinked, rubbing her eyes. There was a crick in her neck and her whole body ached. The couch had left its mark. Part of her wondered if she should have asked to sleep in the bed.
The thought made her stomach quiver. No, bad idea. Horac probably would have been put in an awkward spot. Although the thought of the giant Boarman on the couch was humorous, there was no doubt he would have been worse off.
“What happened to your car?” Ramses' voice was sharp, making her jolt awake.
Sitting up, she rubbed the side of her neck, trying to loosen up the tightened muscles. When she pressed, it made her whole head throb. Wincing, she looked around the living room, bleary-eyed.
“Something in it died.” Her voice was still rough from sleep. “Couldn't get ahold of anyone because of the full moon.”
The stiffness crept through her entire body, no longer hiding now that she was moving. Inwardly, she groaned. Work was going to be hell, especially with the post full moon rush.
“Are you somewhere safe?”
Elle nodded, then remembered that Ramses couldn’t see her. She quickly gave a summary of Horac’s rescue, slipping off the couch and starting to stretch. It was a challenge with a phone to her ear, but it felt better than sitting.
“I need you here.” His voice was soft. There was some chatter behind him, along with a couple of grunts.
“I know.” She winced. “I just-”
“I know a mechanic who can look at it.”
Elle sputtered, feeling her cheeks burn. “You don’t have-”
“Elle,” His tone was firm. “What have I always said?” There was no room for argument.
“You take good care of your employees?” Elle licked her lips, before feeling her stomach violently lurch.
More debt. A contract, unseen. A demon offering you goods in exchange-
“If you’re that averse to a gift, then you can make it up to me.” Papers shuffled in the background. Someone called out in the demonic language, rattling the phone.
“Can it wait?” Ramses yelled back. “I’m busy!” He paused, then sighed.
“Sorry, Elle. Chorus needs me to help finish closing up the bar.”
“Do you need to go?” She asked, feeling her heart pounding as more demon talk rumbled through the phone. She wondered if it was the same one who had talked to her the first night she’d arrived at the restaurant.
 “We’re going to be doing the catering order for…” Ramses’ voice trailed off, and she swore she heard teeth grinding.
“Temptation.” He spat it out like the name was a dirty word. Elle wondered what it was about the club that specifically made him upset. It wasn’t like the demon was a prude. Then again… Temptation could be a little extreme.
“I’d like you to supervise the new hire.” The tone had gone back to jovial, but it was forced.
Blinking, Elle tried to register what was just said.
“Me? Supervise?” Elle couldn’t believe what he was suggesting. She was a server, she gave people their orders, not… gave people orders!
“I use the term loosely,” Ramses explained before she could hear a zipper pull. A word of infernal gratitude rumbled through the phone, and it suddenly felt hot. Wincing, she switched to the other hand, holding it away from her ear.
“Just make sure that he doesn’t burn the restaurant down or knock over Wrecks. Help pack the catering boxes and keep track of inventory. I’m sure Asmodeus will take every missing scone and sandwich as a personal slight, so we’ll need an extra set of eyes.” There was a pause, a slight inhale like he wanted to say more.
Elle’s mind raced, feeling her body flush.
“Anyway, I know it’s the middle of the night for you,” Ramses said quickly. “I just… Wanted to let you know.” Another pause. More demonic talking. Ramses replied something, and the way his voice rumbled made Elle suddenly wish she was home… Or there with him.
“Oh! One other thing.”
“Yes?” Elle tried to keep her thoughts from delving too far.
“The anniversary of the restaurant is coming up.” He sounded unsure. “You don’t have to come if you don’t want to, but… All the employees are invited. It’s nighttime, of course. If you do come, I’ll make sure there’s human-friendly food and drinks.”
Elle blinked rapidly, her mind wavering back and forth between the wild feast at Temptation and the more platonic setting that would probably be at ‘Ramses’ Brew’. She pinched her stomach, drawing her thoughts back to the real world.
“Thanks for inviting me.” Elle swallowed hard, before smiling. “It sounds like a lot of fun!”
“Good…” Ramses’ smile could be heard in his voice. “...Be safe.” The switch was so abrupt, that Elle shook her head.
The phone beeped. Elle saw it was 3 AM. Her alarm would be going off soon anyway. Disabling it, she yawned and checked for more messages. Thankfully, there were none.
Rubbing her eyes, she went to the bathroom and showered, turning the water scalding hot and standing in place. The temperature released sleep’s hold and loosened up her muscles enough that it was comfortable to move again.
Once she’d gotten into her uniform, Elle caught a faint floral scent. Giving the fabric a squeeze, she realized it was slightly damp. Had Horac washed it? She looked at his uniform, picking it up and sniffing. Sure enough, they smelled the same.
Horac finally rose at four, eyes bleary and hair a mess. He didn’t offer much in the way of conversation or fix anything to eat. He did spend time in the bathroom grooming himself and didn’t seem to notice or care that Elle had used the shower. Once he was dressed, he simply jerked his head toward the garage.
Halfway to the restaurant, he pulled into a drive-thru.
“You ain’t going to work on an empty stomach.” He insisted.
“You’re such a dad. ”  Elle frowned, quickly pulling the single bill out of her wallet. No debts.
Horac shook his head and held up a hand.
“Don’t worry about it. Besides… With this crap, I should be paying you to eat it.” Even so, he ordered a few sandwiches for himself, which had ham and bacon.
Elle once again tried to not think of the implications. Everyone was being so generous. Her heart hammered. Of course, this is what friends did for each other. It wasn’t like he was buying her anything too expensive.
They pulled up to the café, and Horac leaned back in his seat, hand over his face.
“What’s up?” Even with her stomach protesting, Elle inhaled the sandwich.
“I hate the post-Lunar rush.” He grumbled, pinching his snout. “I can only imagine what it’s like at the bar.” Sighing, he rolled his shoulders. “But… A job’s got to be done.”

Once the closed sign was turned, Elle moaned piteously and went to a booth, sitting down and resting her head on the table. Everything was sore and she felt ready to pass out, but consuming nearly an entire pot of coffee had left her jittery.
At least her pittance of tips had been made back and then some. Elle quickly counted and signed off on them, shoving everything into her wallet.
Sitting back up, she stretched and noticed a magazine had been left behind. Frowning, she picked it up, ready to pitch it into the recycling. Then, her eyes fell on the front page.
In crimson font were the words “Love and Temptation”.
The picture was of an olive-toned man kissing the collarbone of a woman, black wings enveloping them both to hide their nudity. His hair was coal black, but slightly feathered at the tips. The glint of a predator was even present in the picture.
Cadence? His facial features were present. But they’d made him… So much more human-looking. It was almost disappointing.
Even though the woman wore a domino mask, Elle recognized what the artist was trying to depict.
The woman in the wings… Was her. Obviously, they’d smoothed out features and added more curves, but there was no mistaking the burn mark on the inside of her wrist, or the obsidian handing from her neck. Although the club ticket had been changed to a rose quartz beaded bracelet.
While nothing intimate was visible, Elle felt her cheeks burn. In the articles she’d read about the club, none of them mentioned anything like this.
She flipped through the pages, finding another set of paintings, showing more erotic and suggestive pictures. While they refrained from showing outright nudity, it left very little to the imagination. The words of the article blurred together, and Elle’s already jittery heart beat like it was about to break out of her chest.
Then she saw the tagline in the corner.
“Come find me… At Temptation.”
Swallowing, Elle closed the magazine and put it cover down on the table.
“You alright, Rookie?” Horac’s voice made her sit upright.
“Just fine!” Elle tried to keep her voice from sounding strained. “I uh… Think I dozed off for a second.”
Rolling up the magazine, she stuffed it in her purse and stood up, wondering if the customer who had left it behind knew. “Did I miss a spot while I was cleaning?”
***
The mechanic was only a few blocks away, and the cool air helped clear Elle’s head. Horac had wanted to give her a ride to the shop, but she’d refused. The wise thing would have been to throw the magazine away and try to play it cool, but Elle couldn’t bring herself to do it.
As she walked, she saw a billboard. Gasping softly, she grit her teeth and looked away.
Her, in the domino mask, looking over a bare shoulder, hand resting on the naked chest of the winged man.
“Come… To Temptation.”
When she got to the shop, there were more magazines on wire racks in front of the windows, flapping in the breeze. Keeping her eyes forward, she opened the door and went in to rescue the clunker.
The car looked better than ever, having been washed, waxed, and vacuumed. The wipers had also been replaced, and the wiper fluid refilled. Elle leaned on the roof, rubbing her hand across it.
Sitting in the driver’s seat, she realized that they hadn’t shown her a bill. Sighing, she scowled, wondering if there was any way to get the price out of Ramses. But that would require seeing him face to face…
Looking at her burned wrist, she thought of the black residue that Ramses’ touch left. At least that didn’t stain.
Shaking her head, Elle grumbled to herself. At least she was lucky that it was the only scar she’d gotten through the whole ordeal. Pulling out her phone, she texted her gratitude for Ramses, before starting the car.
Compared to the usual roar and squeal, it was eerily silent. Rubbing the dashboard, Elle gave it a congratulatory pat.
There were a couple more billboards advertising Temptation on the way home, which surprised Elle. Frowning, she wondered what the goal was. Punish her in some way for turning down the job offer? But wouldn’t they have used real pictures instead of artist depictions?
When she got home, Elle kicked off her shoes, going to the windowsill and seizing the charm. It was glowing and pulsing with power. Slipping it over her head, Elle took in a deep breath and felt her body relax. The weight was a comfort, a reminder that there was some degree of protection, no matter what happened.
Taking the magazine out, she leafed her way through the pages again, stopping on the article. It was an interview with a “Miss Lamb” talking about her experience in Temptation, and how she found freedom in exploring her sexuality outside her “species”, laying it on thick that she preferred demons over humans when it came to partners. It was an advertisement for the club disguised as an interview, which made Elle scoff.
Then, her phone began to buzz again. The number was blocked. Elle was about to reject the call, but something told her to answer it.
“Did you like it?” Ash’s voice purred from the other line.
Elle yelped, charm flashing brightly. Stomach flipping and heart pounding, she took in a few deep breaths as the pulse of the charm spread a layer of protection over her.
 “How’d you get my- You know what, never mind.” Elle tried to focus, watching the shadows on the wall shift as the lights from the charm danced.
“You think the right hand of Asmodeus doesn’t have a few resources wrapped around its little finger?” Ash crooned, before laughing.
“What the point?” Elle put a hand on her hip. “I’m not going to work for him.”
“You asked for my help in breaking the contract with one Adrian Ashborn.” Ash’s voice was suddenly lower, making Elle hesitate, grip on the phone tightening. “This is part of that process.”
Elle’s scowl deepened. Weasel words and more. Never ending. At least Ramses knew to at least try and be coy.
“Since Adrian’s bond with his own kind has been broken, tracking has proved difficult.” Ash continued. There was a soft sigh from the other end, not from Ash. He mumbled something in the infernal language, and it was followed by a light giggle.
Elle winced and tried to keep her mind from the dirty conclusion of where and who the Incubus was with. She resisted the urge to tell him it was rude to eat while he was on the phone.
“You want to lead something to a trap, have bait,” Ash said nonchalantly.
Licking her lips, Elle froze. “Wait… You’re hoping he’ll see it?”
“Billboards, banner ads, magazines, anything we could put money into.” Ash’s smirk came through. “And once the Incubus obsessed with you “knows” where you work, he’ll come running.”
“But Adrian’s a coward, he’ll never-”
“Dearest,” Ash interrupted. “Don’t worry. Asmodeus is a Demon Lord for a reason. If anyone knows the art of seduction and tantalizing, it’s him.”
Elle’s cheeks burned. All of that… Just to trap Adrian? She wondered what would have happened if she agreed to work-
Even through the phone, he was getting to her. Rubbing her brow, Elle gave a grunt of acknowledgment. There was shuffling on the other side, and Elle thought she heard another sigh, or maybe a whine of someone else, different than the first. How many people did he have over there?
“If you want, I can send you a copy of the pictures. Cadence fought me tooth and nail on using the models I did. I, for one, think they came out fabulous. Although, I’d rather see the real thing-”
“Goodbye, Ash. Call me when you’ve got Adrian.”

The day of the catering order arrived.
Elle felt odd going into work without her uniform, but it was a welcome change. The maid outfit had been switched out for a button-up shirt and midi skirt, although she still kept her apron, charm and spider hanging at her throat.
Wrecks was already there when she pulled up, smoking and scribbling something down in a notebook. He still wore his uniform, but that didn’t surprise Elle.
“How’s it going?” She asked.
“Eh. It’s… Going.” Wrecks held up a hand when Elle went to open the door.
“Ramses wanted to buy you something similar, but I don’t trust those things.” He pulled out a pair of shoulder-length gloves.
“What’s this for?” Elle took the gloves. They were silk, but woven so tight they’d likely be waterproof. They were nice to touch, and she found herself stroking them.
“Well… I know you can’t eat our food.” Wrecks fidgeted with his braid. “So I figured being around the ingredients probably wouldn’t be good for your skin either. So…” His voice trailed off and he shrugged. “You can go ahead and keep them, too.”
Gripping the gloves tight, Elle stared at them. “Wrecks, I…” She swallowed, before nodding. “Thanks. I’ll pay you-”
“What are friends for, right?” Wrecks gave a smile and gently pushed her with a foreleg.
“Don’t worry about money, I just wanted to spin something. Gloves are easy, although mittens are probably the easiest…” He continued to talk about the various crafts as he opened the door.
Warm air from inside blasted the two of them. Elle slipped on the gloves, flexing her fingers. She felt strange, having them on, but it was better to feel subconscious than to have an ER visit because she accidentally touched something that rotted human skin.
There were so many boxes, stacked almost to the ceiling. Ovens roared, trays covering almost every flat surface so the pastries could cool.
Stripping off her coat, Elle rubbed her hands together.
“Just tell me how I can stay out of the way and still be useful.” She craned her neck, looking around for Horac. She’d seen his truck on the way in.
“You can help Aki,” Wrecks pulled a kit from the shelves. When he opened the lid, there were various decoration tools, from pastry bags to icing spatulas. “You know how to use these, right?”
Elle nodded. She wasn’t an expert, but it was simple enough to follow diagrams. She’d looked up a few tutorials online. And if her night at Temptation was anything to go by, the food wouldn’t be the focus of things displayed.
Wait…
“Aki?” Elle arched a brow. The new guy’s name was Aki? How… Normal.
“Is he a human, too?” She took the kit and started to assemble a few tools, a task proving difficult with her gloves.
“Not exactly.” There was a thud as someone dropped down from the loft, landing in a three-point position.
When he straightened, Elle could see a pair of cat ears twitching on top of his head. His hair was black, covering his visible skin with thick patches of it. Amber almond-shaped eyes focused on her, slit pupils dilating as a thick bushy tail swished behind him. He too wore an apron, covered and smeared with almost every color of icing.
A feline sapien? Elle wondered to herself, then paused when she noticed the thrashing paper… man Aki was holding.
“Sorry.” Aki’s tongue stuck out, curving slightly between two elongated canines. “I heard this and had to go find it.”
“A talisman?” Wrecks took it, before wincing as it burst into flames. Yelping, he frantically waved his hands, extinguishing any embers. When he dropped the paper man, it floated upward, blue fire burning it to nothing.
A silhouette of a silver fox appeared in the smoke before it put a paw to its mouth and giggled, vanishing completely with a loud snap.
“You okay?” Elle went to grab his hand to check it for a burn but paused when she felt the stranger eyeing her.
“I’ll go wash off in the sink.” Wrecks shook his hands again, before walking off. “Horac! I thought you were supposed to be watching him!”
“I have milk on the stove!” The Boarman bellowed back.
“Don’t worry!” Elle called, announcing her presence, “I’ll watch him.” She turned to face Aki, sticking out her hand, and giving a quick introduction.
Aki’s ears twitched as he seemed to size (and eye) Elle up. His tail continued to swish back and forth, coming dangerously close to the cooling pastries. His eyes went to her chest, and he shrugged, before turning around and leading her to a corner of the room.
Elle frowned, wondering how she’d managed to offend him. Was it the gloves? Shouldn’t someone hairy as him be wearing them anyway? Possibly a full-body hairnet?
There were a few trays of decorated pastries, with lists posted above each booth. Each one had rows of boxes, to be checked off when the items reached various stages of completion. Those that were marked “complete” were finely iced and drizzled.
Elle got as close as she dared, brows raising as she let out an impressed whistle.
“Wow! They look ready to be displayed!” While it was true, she hoped he would be receptive to the compliment.
“I used to decorate at my old job,” Aki explained, picking up a pastry bag full of pink icing. He’d donned a pair of elbow-length gloves. “Mr. Sesbrun said he needed extra hands, so I figured why not?”
Mr. Sesbrun. How formal. Not even Wrecks called him that.
Picking up a pastry back, Elle did a quick check of the invoice and began to ice what would become “Corruption Cupcakes”. At least those were simple and repetitive, the hardest part being the literal cherry on top that would finish the piece.
Although the image of Ash’s confused expression as he ordered one made her stifle a laugh.
And then the way he tied a knot in the stem with his tongue…
Lightly shaking her head, Elle berated herself. The day had only just started, she didn’t need to be flustered or frustrated now!
“Where’d you work before?” Elle hoped she didn’t sound desperate in her question. Her mind needed something unstimulating to focus on right now.
“Down the street.” Aki didn’t look up from his work.
He rhythmically squeezed the bag, gnawing on his lower lip. Small pink spurts came out, forming complex floral and petal patterns that Elle wouldn’t have believed were brought about manually. It seemed like he had barely started on the first before he was onto the second.
He put down the pink bag and had grabbed a red one, squeezing out the exact shape needed for a Devilishly Delicious Donut, down to the crimson flames and a small pair of horns and a tail. How fast was this Cat Boy? Cat Man?
She took a quick survey and realized the pastries were already one-fourth of the way done, and more rapidly adding to that number. At this rate, they’d be waiting for things to cool before they needed to start decorating again.
Good thing he didn’t apply when I did, or he’d run circles around me.
Within minutes, Aki was running behind her to get to the next tray on the other side, tail swishing as he picked up the supplies needed.
Maybe you’d get your work done faster if you weren’t ogling the new guy.
No, she wasn’t ogling. Just… appreciating his skill and speed.
Elle just started on the third cupcake on her tray when she felt a slap on her ass. The sudden sting made her yelp, squeezing the pastry bag too tight and spurting icing all over the tray and cupcakes.
The charm vibrated against her throat, making her step back and cough. Aki was running to another tray, his tail swishing. For a moment, there appeared to be black smoke coming off his tail, but when it flicked outward, it was gone.
As the charm continued to pulse, Elle felt her head start to throb. For an instant, she saw two mirror images of Aki, working in sync with one another.
He didn’t look up from his work, his face stoic as he iced like a madman.
Elle wondered if he’d somehow managed to miss another talisman and if this was some weird “prank” by Tanpopo. It seemed like something the Kitsune would do. Although aside from the day he showed up on the counter… It had been relatively quiet.
“You alright, Shepard?” Wrecks came over with a bandaged hand. “Did you get any icing on you?”
Looking down at her hands, Elle frowned at the mess covering her gloves and apron. But… That was the point, right?
“... Fine.” Elle put distance between herself and Aki, wondering why her charm was going crazy around him. It didn’t act this way around other Feline Sapiens that she knew.
Then, Aki stopped at the end of a tray, body going rigid.
“M-minute, please?” Aki said, his voice shaking, barely above a whisper. “It’s… Getting hot in here.”
Wrecks nodded, and Aki bolted out the door, hitting them with a blast of cold air. Elle frowned, grabbing the charm. Even when she’d charged it before, it never acted this way.
“What species is he?”
“I… didn’t think to check his file before he came in.” Wrecks admitted. “I just assumed ‘feline sapien’ since…” Wrecks put his hands behind his head, flexing his fingers to imitate cat ears wiggling. “His name is Japanese, it’s possible he might be a yokai.”
‘Yokai’ . Demons by another name, but something she’d only barely scratched the surface of in her studies.
Although she’d seen enough… Videos on the subject to know a few things about oni and kitsune. Maybe that was what the charm was reacting to? Dark energy it couldn’t pinpoint?
“Bakeneko?” Wrecks said aloud. “Nekomata? But then he wouldn’t be able to walk around in the sunlight without a charm and he’s pretty even-tempered…” Frowning, he rubbed his face, grimacing, forelegs rubbing together before realization and horror broke over his face.
“Don’t tell him I said that.”
“Eh?” Elle raised a brow.
“I know what it’s like… Having people get the wrong idea about you. And… I don’t want him to think I’m-”
“Spinner!” Horac yelled. “Quit flirting and get in here!”
Wreck’s face paled and he sputtered, silvery drool dribbling down his lips. Elle raised a brow and he waved her away, skittering back to the kitchen.
“I was not flirting!”
Elle went out the door, teeth chattering when the wind hit her. She saw Aki leaning against the wall, breathing heavily.
“Aki?” She said cautiously, hovering with her hand on the handle.
He pulled his head away from the back of his hand, giving a big smile. “It’s uh… Really hot in there, huh?” He pointedly tugged at the fur on his cheeks. “I’m okay, just need a minute to cool off.”
Elle’s charm pulsed in a warning. He stared at it out of the corner of his eye, before facing the wall again.
“You, uh… Want some water or something?” She took a step back, rocking back and forth between the door and outside.
Aki waved her off. “Don’t trouble yourself. I just… Need a minute.”
“Alright…” Elle frowned, then cleared her throat, “I know you’re new, but I promise no one’s going to get mad if you need to sit down or drink something. Ramses takes-”
“Very good care of his employees, I know.” Aki’s tail swished back and forth. “I’m sorry. I just… I want to do good at this job.” He pushed off the building. The color was gone from his cheeks and he suddenly looked faint.
“So let’s make it a great one, yeah?” His voice wavered, fists shaking as he clenched them.
Elle nodded, feeling slightly guilty. Did she look like this to the rest of the employees on her first few shifts?
“Let’s get you something to eat first.” Elle lifted up a finger to silence him when he opened his mouth to protest. “No “ifs” “ands” or “buts”!” She was the supervisor, so she could make this call, right?
Aki’s mouth slowly closed, and he nodded, the grin rising to his eyes. His ears perked up, and his tail swished back and forth rapidly, almost like it was wagging. Then, a loud purr vibrated through him.
“Okay!” He took a step toward Elle but flinched back when the charm flashed. His lower lip jutted out, brows coming together in a pout before he nodded and smiled.
***
Aki was still buzzing with energy when they finished. Aside from his dashing out the door every hour, he was a diligent worker, finishing five or six trays for every one Elle managed to decorate.
The last box was taped up and ready to ship, Elle collapsed into a booth. Picking up a menu, she fanned herself with it as a large truck pulled up. It was bright pink, with “Temptation” written on the side. Men and women of various species were posed and covered with rather suggestive looking icing and glaze.
“Laying it on a little thick.” Aki held his thumb and forefinger apart by a hair’s width. “I don’t know why they didn’t just do a transport spell.”
“Those are expensive!” Elle sputtered, even though she was sure Asmodeus could afford such a thing. Then, she recalled the nightmare that was the payment method of the Lucifer order. She imagined the same method but mixing in condoms and lube samples instead of campaign buttons and bumper stickers.
Elle knew which one she would have preferred. Although imagining her coworkers' reactions did make her snicker.
Aki was looking at her, brows raised.
Elle clapped her hands together. Right. New guy. Couldn’t be weird around him. “I bet the truck is good advertising.”
“I hope it didn’t cause any wrecks on the way here.” Aki crossed his arms, ears drooping. “You… Er… We, work for this guy?”
“It’s the reason we hired you.” Elle shrugged. “And the guy who runs it…” Where to begin with Ash?
-is really great! Had me fuck a siren band on stage, but now he’s getting my ex off my back!
“...Is nice in his own way.”
They joined Wrecks and Horac outside, the sun bright despite the cold day. Aki didn’t seem perturbed by the light, walking around and handing boxes over to be loaded. Despite his more lean build, he seemed to have some degree of strength.
Two trolls assisted the boxes into the back of the truck, chatting with Wrecks. Horac assisted them, and it dawned on Elle how… Small her coworker was compared to them. Still, he moved fast, not stumbling once.
And she felt her cheeks heat when she caught one of them staring, before mumbling to the other in their native tongue.
And like he had a radar for it, Horac had put himself between them and Elle. And she felt… Grateful, even if she was sure nothing would happen.
Then, Horac grumbled something that sounded similar to the troll’s language.
Whatever he said had the other two laughing, one clapping a hand on his back. Horac smiled broadly, and Elle wondered if he knew them back when he was human.
Once everything was loaded, the trolls hollered to someone who was still in the truck. The passenger door opened, and Elle let out a soft yelp when she saw a collection of grey feathers.
While he’d put on boots and a shirt, Cadence looked good. The clothing clung to him in all the perfect ways, making Elle flood with heat more than if he’d walked out naked. He clung to the invoice, signing off on a few things before mutely passing it over to Wrecks.
The Drider looked over the papers, and the two seemed to come to a silent agreement. Cadence reached behind his back and pulled out an envelope. His eyes caught Elle’s and he winked at her, the corner of his lip tugging into a knowing smile, then his lips pursing and silently blowing a kiss in her direction.
Elle looked the other way, biting her lip to keep herself from saying something that she would regret. Even outside the club's influence, he was still having an effect on her. Swallowing, she gave a cordial smile and wave, cheeks red.
Ash had probably done this on purpose, trying to rile her up. No. Not probably. Did.
“Shepard?” Wrecks called, breaking her out of the trance. “Can you sign off on this, too?”
“Me?” She tried to keep her voice from breaking.
Horac still seemed to be in an animated conversation with the trolls, so Elle slowly slunk over, taking the clipboard and quickly reading through it, before scribbling her name across the bottom. As she passed the invoice back over, Cadence’s hand brushed against hers.
It was accidental, but Elle felt herself about ready to fall over. Making a fist, she quickly excused herself and ran back into the café, scrubbing off her hands.
Thankfully, nothing came off in the sink. But Elle’s heart continued to pound.
Why was she so flustered? Sure, Cadence’s signals were bright and neon, but it wasn’t like he was dry humping her in front of the other employees. In fact, her reaction was probably setting off more alarm bells than his. He came from the sex club, she worked at the café. But they were both at their jobs.  Splashing her face, Elle pressed a damp paper towel to her neck to try and calm herself.
Right. Professional. She could be that.
Wiping off the worst of her running makeup, Elle exited the bathroom.
Aki stared at her, brow raised. Before he could open his mouth to say something, Wrecks began to herd him back toward the door, forelegs pushing the Cat Man anytime he tried to stop or turn around and peek.
“Shepard’s got some… Business to take care of with them.” Wrecks’ tone was surprisingly authoritative. They went inside, the door shutting loudly.
Horac waved to the trolls, who went back to the truck. He seemed to pick up on the tension, hanging tentatively behind Elle. Fists opened and closed on empty air. There was a wave of subtle anger in the Boarman, something ready to come out the instant it was told to.
“I’ve got it, don’t worry,” Elle said, brushing her hand through the air. A calculated risk, showing confidence in herself and trust in Cadence.
There were heavy footsteps as Horac retreated back inside, but she had a feeling that he was still watching through the window. All of them probably were, trying to see what had her all worked up. Or they were just starting to clean up.
Cadence stared at her, face void of emotion. More silence. Expectation.
“I’m not coming back,” Elle said firmly. “It’s… Nothing you did wrong, but… I can’t.” She had a feeling every word would be relayed to Ash if he wasn’t already listening in.
Cadence reached up, the back of his hand stroking Elle’s cheek, taloned thumb resting on her lower lip. Despite the cold, she felt overheated. Cloudy breath filled the air as they stared at one another.
Then, he nodded.
“I understand.” His arms wrapped around her tightly, chin on her shoulder. Nails traced over the back of her shirt, the sharpness teasing through the fabric. Elle inhaled sharply, stomach fluttering as lewd thoughts of him tearing the outfit off flittered through her mind.
Nope. She was breaking it off clean. Focus.
“Thank you.” Elle pushed off Cadence’s chest, breaking his embrace completely.
His mouth opened, but he closed it.
Once more, he nodded, turning around and climbing into the truck as the engine rumbled to life.
The heat of the building was a welcome respite. Elle flopped into the booth nearest to the door and moaned softly. A long soak in the bath tonight.
“Ash sends his regards,” Wrecks cleared his throat, then looked at Aki. “Apologies in advance if it’s… A lot.” He pulled out four envelopes, each one color-coded. He passed the black one to Aki, kept a light blue one for himself, a red one to Horac, and a pink one to Elle.
Aki shrugged. “I think… I have a good idea of what to expect. But we’re all adults here.”
“Well, good work team,” Horac groaned. “I’m going home and sleeping until my next shift.” Sighing, he stuck the envelope in his breast pocket without looking at it, walking out of the restaurant.
Wrecks nodded, “I think… I’m going to take a long nap.” He turned to Elle. “See you Monday, Shepard.” He turned to Aki. “Nekokuro.”
“Nice meeting you!” Aki smiled, before going to the backroom. When he came out, he was wearing a patchwork coat. Elle suddenly remembered the coat, the scraggly looking man who came through that wouldn’t even look her in the eye.
Apparently, he must have really charmed Ramses in the interview, to be hired before the night was over.
Aki… Was under all that? She tried not to stare, with so many questions on her lips. Instead, she stretched her arms above her head, following Horac out. Once the doors were locked, they said their goodbyes.
When she turned on the clunker, the heat kicked on, blasting cold air. She turned it down all the way, shivering.
At least Aki was friendly. Although the thought of the day crew having a new member would take some getting used to. He was fast, quick on his feet, and seemed to be able to focus.
Taking the envelope, she opened the flap, about shrieking at the tip that fell out. Mixed in with the cash were also a few condoms and lube samples. Along with a folded-up letter.
“I was kidding!” She screamed toward the roof of her car. They had the faint scent of the club on them, making her heart pound. How tightly had that envelope been sealed to keep it in?
On top of the pile was a small card, crimson lips at the bottom corner. Above it, written in a looping script:
“This could be your everyday. -A”
Sighing, Elle rolled her eyes and put the contents back into the bag. She was going to have to talk to Ash about boundaries the next time they spoke. Between this and Cadence, she was going to have a fit. If she wasn't already under the influence. The drive home was going to be long. Hopefully, traffic was good.
‘He doesn’t see things the same way humans do.’
Picking up the letter, Elle expected more words from Ash, but there was a small grey feather taped to the bottom. The writing had been done with a heavy hand, several blots of ink around the script suggesting broken pens.
‘Dear Elle,’ It began.
‘I’m writing to you preemptively, but I know this will likely be the outcome. Ash sent me your way because he thinks we’re a great duet, and that we’ll eventually be able to harmonize in a way that will bring in more crowds.
‘But I know that’s not what you want. I understand that I’ll only be able to tell you what you want to hear, rather than speak my true feelings, so I’ll write them down here. That way you won’t have to worry about me potentially hypnotizing you with my voice. Because at the end of the day, it's your choice and I want to respect that. Ash does too, but... He's a lot more forward than I am, I suppose.
‘I did have fun at our performance, but I know one good night isn’t a justification for wanting something serious. Nor am I in a position to give up my employment. Despite what you experienced, Ash is a good boss, much like your Ramses. Two men who have a rivalry that can only be described as brotherly. But that being said, if you ever want to reprise our song, you’ll only need to reach out to me. No Ash. No Temptation. Just me and you. I always wondered what it would be like to try acapella.
-The “Authentic” Cadence.’
Folding up the letter, Elle slipped it back into the envelope. Taking a deep breath, she crumpled up the card and tossed it onto the floor, making a note to clean out her car when she got back to the apartment.
Driving away, she felt… A strange sense of power come over her.
Stronger than any magic she’d ever felt. Not infatuation or lust. But something she could take in her hands and control.
These days were almost behind her. No more bargaining. No more deals. No more crippling debt.
Just her and… Whatever she chose next.
When she got back to her apartment, she looked at the envelope again. Even without the card from Ash, she still felt the whole thing hanging over her. Most of the scent had faded, but the faint bit that lingered was driving her crazy. It felt like between her legs was on fire.
All that hard work. The truck. Everyone trying to pull her in a different direction. The thought of what if tickled at the back of her mind.
She was exhausted, but still wound up. There was one way to take care of both.
Elle took one of the lube samples and squirted it over one of her more recent purchases, a small bright purple vibrator. Even with exercises and stretches, her hands had started to cramp up.  It wasn’t anything fancy, but it got the job done.
At first, her mind went to the stage at Temptation, but then all she could think about was Ash
and his leer, sitting on his concubi furniture.
Let’s get you home…
A voice that called to her, but didn’t have the same heart-stopping tug that drew one in like a thrall.
She was at the café again. No more trays, no more catering orders. She was leaning over the counter, staring at the sheer glee that was… The empty restaurant. Closed sign, register closed, everything counted up.
The one good thing to come out of Temptation, she figured.
He would be on his knees, licking at the fabric of her panties, head under her skirt. Just like he’d started at the stage, but there was no audience to please. Just her. And he intended to drag it out, tracing his fingers over her skin, palms parting her thighs.
He lapped at her inner legs, from the curve of her knee up to her hip, lightly nipping. The feathers were down soft, but there was the curve of talons that reminded her that a true predator hid within.
She could feel his warm breath, each hot exhale making her squirm. But he wouldn’t let her close her legs or try to push him away. Instead, he licked at her harder but kept the cotton barrier between them.
Still, he managed to find her clit, sucking on it and rolling his tongue around, parting her lips and rubbing the material against it. Greedy hands explored her ass and the small of her back, slipping under the fabric and giving everything they could a firm squeeze.
Her knees gave out, and she fell against the wall. No… She hit a body. It was warm, the chest rising up and down with breath, a heart thundering in sync with her own. When she looked back, she saw it was Cadence. But the partner between her legs didn’t stop licking. In fact, they seemed more invigorated.
Cadence brought her lips to his, tongue plunging in her mouth, his clawed hands tore through the fabric of her shirt. Buttons skidded across the floor, but Elle didn’t care. The talons traced over her breasts, circling a nipple until it was pebbled.
Then, with the utmost gentleness, they began to pinch and twist at the erect tips, before squeezing rudely. He nibbled at her neck, the conflicting sensations of sharp and soft making Elle squeal as she felt herself clench.
The noise encouraged Cadence further, and he found the curve of Elle’s neck, biting hard enough for her to see stars. Hands finally left her breasts to run down her ribs, abdomen, and then up to her shoulders. Then, they traveled down again, index fingers cradling her nipples as his thumb palpated. His lips never stopped moving, trailing across her skin, leaving it a mess of kisses and what would become bruises.
Then, there was vibrating. Elle’s back arched and she gasped, ready to reach the edge, but she forced herself to hold the climax.
This was long overdue, and she wanted it to last. Still, as she became more sensitive, her nipples being pinched and twisted until just the lightest breeze on them made her squirm, she could feel the one between her legs speeding up.
They were eating her out like it was the only meal available after a forty-day fast. Growling, moaning, their grip accentuated by something sharp. Not painful, but enough to keep her in place. And she was glad to do that, only able to squirm.
Cadence held her fast, his heart thudding between her shoulders.
It then dawned on her that the sound or sensation between her legs wasn’t vibration.
It was purring.
As if on cue, Aki popped his head up for breath. He licked his lips, smiling at her knowingly. Nails ran up and down her thighs, inching closer to panties every time, teasing under the elastic, but pulling back at the last second.
Cadence brought her mouth to his again before she could protest, hand trailing lower. They slipped past the material, parting her lower lips
Aki pushed up her skirt, hooking his clawed hands under her waistband. As her panties slid down her thighs, he knelt again, breath rolling over her drenched and sensitive sex. She felt him lick Cadence’s fingers, drawing a throaty moan from the Siren.
The licks were teasing, lapping at the sensitive skin of her abdomen, trailing around Cadence’s hand, but not actually touching her now exposed clit or folds.
Now with the material out of the way, each breath was a white-hot flame of ecstasy. Elle whimpered, burying her hands in his hair, and finding his ears. He stiffened when she touched them, his cock growing hard, peeking out of his waistband.
Now she had him. Holding him fast, she guided him back to where she wanted him to focus.
He looked up at her, amber eyes glazed over as he drug his tongue slowly across her. Each lick felt like an eternity and Elle was about ready to fall over. Cadence cradled her, still holding everything open and allowing Aki access.
The air was stirred by the cat man’s fast-moving tail, covering Elle in gooseflesh. Like the sharp and soft, heat and cold now warred, each one trying to be the one to bring her over the edge. She finally released him, bracing herself against the wall as the licks sped up, Aki seizing the back of her legs and plunging his tongue into her, the moans turning into screams of pleasure.
And the vibrations from that send her over. Legs locked around his head, and he took it all in, moaning in gratitude, giving her one last squeeze… And his tail swatting her noisily on the ass. How, Elle wasn’t sure.
The image of the empty café broke apart, and she was back in her apartment, legs splayed open on her bed, vibrator on her clit. Her head was swimming, all the sounds around her warbled and distant. The light from the afternoon was still bright, making her head start to pound.
Staring up at the ceiling, she tried to catch her breath.
Once the feeling in her legs had returned, she managed to roll off the bed and staggered to the shower.
Something told her that this wouldn’t be the last time this happened.
When she came out of the shower, buzzing rattled the nightstand. Seizing the toy, she pressed the button in an attempt to turn it off.
Oh come on, I just bought this, don’t tell me it’s broken already.
She finally unscrewed it and let the batteries fall out. Once it was securely in a drawer, she stared at the bed, before collapsing onto it. She was still in her towel, hair damp.
Thinking and the outside world could wait. Exhaustion had gone from a creep to a full-on throttle, and she wasn’t going to fight it for much longer.
All that mattered was that she now had the choice. And it wasn’t going to get taken away because she was in a bad spot.
I understand…
The words she’d wanted to hear. The only thing a Siren could speak about.
Maybe in another life. Or a different time…
But she couldn’t see it. At least not now. There was too much going on.
Elle couldn’t help but feel relief join her exhaustion, the world breaking away as she fell into slumber.
