This is one of my longer meta posts (oof I don’t have many)

my mom’s told me about this (our family is way too invested in ted lasso) I believe in a tweet or something on instagram she saw but im going to say it here because it’s so true. the very first time we see nate and meet him what is he doing? yelling at ted and beard to get off of the stadium lawn. Its only when he realizes that they’re the coaches that he’s nice to them.

nate is such a fun and complex character (oh I hate him for sure) because he is power motivated, but he still has morals. His parents are dismissive of his interests and his career and they rarely compliment him. He’s always looking for validation. so on the lawn when he realizes that its people in power who can lift him up that he’s just been yelling at, he stops in his tracks because he wants them to like him and see potential. and when ted consistently compliments and lifts him up, he beams. it’s only when he begins to feel like the lame sidekick that he begins to turn, because he feels like ted is using him (although he isn’t.) so of course the slimy bastard rupert who has no redeeming qualities swoops in and takes advantage of this. he offers him a better job where he can get revenge on ted for making him feel like he was in the backseat. it makes me sad that he sent in the information to trent about ted’s mental breakdown because that was absolutely not his business to send, but i understand his motivation to do so: he thought perhaps if he could dismantle Ted’s power and charm to the media and team, it would probably make him feel less like a mess = he would have the upper hand. all those times we see him on Twitter, scrolling through his own name (to which I always said ‘you narcissistic piece of shit’) was really not narcissistic at all. Nate is so fucking deep into his own image of how people perceive him (i.e., the wonderkid). he is reliant on that sense of being a hero.

was the telling about ted’s mental issues a problem? absolutely, yes. was him ripping the believe sign a good thing? hell no. but when they showed the tape, i mostly just felt sorry for Nate. the others were laughing but it kind of just felt pathetic. he’s so after that pride that he’s victimized the one man who genuinely did lift him up and help him feel like a hero.

i do want to discuss the Rupert situation at length, too, because it should be said. rupert- lets be honest!! hes a manipulative cheating fuck! I will defend morally grey characters like nate to the end of my days, even if I pretend to hate them, but rupert- there’s nothing about him. he’s manipulative, what can I say. he brings nate up and makes himself seem like some heroic angel, and then does subtle things to make him feel less than. by taking him in he is painted as a saint to nate, who wants nothing more than to get petty revenge on ted for making him feel less, however inadvertently. but it’s the small things that get me. it’s the ‘call me rupert, nate,’ in episode one to the ‘mr mannion, please’ in the most recent episode. its the replacing his car, which he loves, with something that is shiny and fancy and fits ruperts image. it feels to me like he is making things seem like a kind favor when he is attempting to change who nate is at the core. its fucking manipulative!

and most recently. him telling nate not to say anything other than ‘hello’ to ted at the game. there are so many instances in this episode that you can see nate wants to go over and apologize for what he’s done (because he does have some morals, and he feels horrible!) but rupert always intercepts and tries to remind nate why he’s on his side.

it’s just so well done- it’s such a well done show. It demonstrates morally grey characters and the reasons they do things so well and I could talk about it for ages.

they get married and have izuku, who keeps inko’s maiden name [midoriya is now inko’s maiden name bc i do what i want]. he’s the cutest baby who has inko’s green hair, but has one blue and one green eye! [these are /important/] inko and all might talk abt maybe giving izuku all for one when he’s older, but they decide against it bc they don’t know if he’ll have a quirk or not

spoiler!! bitch baby has a quirk!! he gets a quirk that’s so much different than inko’s quirk and !!! ahhh!!! the basic explanation is that all might’s all of one genes mixed and then “corrupt” inko’s like 3 generation quirk-having genes or smth and izu has a very, very complex quirk now. it’s called astron, and astron allows him to fucking astral project into the center of the university and shit chxnc

astron works two different ways: using his blue eye he can project other people into his own personal astral plane and do whatever he wants. while the person’s physical body is still where it was, their mind is in the astral plane. if he uses his green eye, he can project himself to his astral plane and fuck around without consequences!!

[there’s an untold third ability of astron using both of his eyes, but izuku tried doing that when he first got his quirk and immediately fell into a coma for like a month? it was bad and his mind couldn’t handle the stress and dipped lol]

ANYWAY, izuku grows up with a bomb ass quirk and still has his kacchan with him thru his childhood so things are a lot different than canon? the wonder duo are little shitheads together and i love them, they wreck havoc and i love them

BESTEST OF FRIENDS. and i imagine when bakugou is being a little shit deku just. astral projects him out of his body for a while and apologizes to whoever kacchan yelled at LMFAO---bakugou comes back to his body and is all like “....fucks sake stop doing that”

AND THEN omfgkjfds imagine morally grey deku who does whatever he can to win?? he knew he wouldnt get into UAs hero course fair and square (all might offered him a recommendation but he declined because he wanted to get there on his own with kacchan) because robots didnt have souls he could astral project so he practices his quirks limits like YEARS prior and he tells bakugou about it but never rlly shows him but on the day of the entrance exam?

he shows up. everything goes as normal and he finishes the written exams and then moves on to the practical exam (still seperated from kacchan like in canon) and like. Every one goes dashing forward and deku doesnt really try to beat anyone. He waits until theyre all in the center engaging with robots when he walks to the center of the room.

and he sees the zero pointer in the distance.

“THE ZERO-POINTER’S HERE!” He yells and points at the gigantic mech heading their way. All at once everyone’s heads whip up to catch sight of the robot, enraptured by its sheer size and power. 

As they all look to one direction, Deku makes eye contact with them and smiles.

All at once, every single participant in the area goes limp. Astron throws their souls into the astral plane with little fanfare and everyone watches in awe and annoyance as their bodies uselessly crumple to the ground from the outside. The green-haired boy is suddenly given free reigns of the arena and they seethe as one by one he deactivates or disables robots that were once under their purview.

(What some of the smarter ones notice however, is the way he seems to be leaving some stray 3 pointers untouched... almost as if he was doing the calculations in his head as he goes... on how to ensure the number one spot while others can still score points...?)

One by one however, they start struggling and reaching to reconnect with their bodies. Their gleaming bright souls bob up and down with frenzied energy and Deku feels it. He feels it like itches on his skin and goosebumps that turn into hills that dance up and down his back. He feels it like he feels his limit reaching.

Its still around 10 minutes though before he actually loses control and everyone comes back to their bodies. His quirk times out and almost like its angry, the astral plane takes his body in exchange for the dozens he kept in there. He gets sucked through and passes out while everyone else runs and destroys the remaining bots. It doesn’t matter though, because he knows he’s racked up enough points to stay on top. He lets himself rest and observes the blue-haired tall guy with engines who contemplates carrying Deku’s body to safety.

Until, he sees her.

Just under some rubble and very close to getting crushed by the Zero-Pointer’s foot, Deku spots a brown-haired young girl that he recalls has some kind of floating quirk. He sees as everyone runs past her, prioritizing their own safety instead of hers.

He makes a decision.

Quickly--recklessly, a familiar gruff voice says in his ear--he forces himself back into his body and looks around. He runs to the girl and attempts to dig her out from the rubble before she gets crushed. The robot comes ever closer.

Using the little strength and flexibility he’s learnt from years of sparring with Kacchan, Deku abandons her in favor of climbing up the broken concrete and metal to meet the robot’s visor. He knows he won’t save her by digging her out of there, but by god is he gonna let her get injured without a fight. These robots weren’t designed to kill, but they were designed to destroy.

Focus. Focus and listen to what’s around you, Izu-kun.

The world around him reduces to tunnel-vision and suddenly Deku is face to face with the Zero-Pointer. It stops, as if calculating how to discard of Deku without hurting him severely with its own strength.

Everything has life in it. You only need to focus and look for it.

Izuku Midoriya looks at the robot.

In a whirlwind of blue and green, he reaches inside of himself and searches for life. Cold steel and hard-wired code meet his gaze and he plunges even deeper. 

Focus.

Then all at once, everything in his visions snaps into sudden clarity, like he’s never seen before. He feels everything. Sees Everything. Smells, tastes, hears--and he hears how the metal beneath him bends and groans. He feels how it winces and shudders. He sees it as it opens its maw and its visor bends in a facsimile of eyes, pleading him as if asking how?

The robot beneath him comes to life and stumbles back.

Quickly, he scrambles to the nearest ledge which happens to be a broken support beam. Distantly, he thinks he feels his arm being sliced open on the edge of it and the warmth of blood streaming down his side as he nearly falls. 

“HEY! YOU WITH THE ENGINES!” He hoarsely screams to the still remaining, slack-jawed contestants. “I CAN’T KEEP THE ZERO POINTER DOWN FOR LONG! GO HELP THE GIRL AND TAKE HER TO SAFETY NOW!”

With a sudden burst of energy, the fellow participants start taking others out from the rubble while the blue-haired boy helps the brunette he was protecting earlier. As he watches them clear the rubble to drag her out, he feels a pang.

Who am I? a lost voice calls out. It’s raspy and almost-robotic sounding and only he can hear it. Where am I? What am I?

And Deku’s vision flickers.

In and out, he sees flashes through eyes that aren’t his. He hears voices that are simultaneously faraway and way too close for comfort. The world tugs at the sides of his perspective and a strain is pulling at the back of his head tearing his brain to shreds. He doesn’t know what he’s focusing or straining on, except that its working and keeping the zero-pointer down.

He grits his teeth. “Hurry the hell up! i can’t do this any longer--”

Bursts of pain appear behind his mismatched eyes and he wants to scream so bad and if he were looking any clearer he’d see the way that the zero-pointer thrashes on the ground in time with the pounding on his skull. Bile crawls up the back of his throat and Deku screams.

“SHE’S CLEAR! YOU CAN LET GO NOW, MIDORIYA-SAN.”

Izuku lets go and his vision goes black.

I don’t have too many ships because Black Clover is mainly action so it is focused on that. I don’t ship any of the underage characters because they are all children who are busy saving the world and the adult characters such as the Captains(except Yami and Charlotte) and the Wizard King are all too busy with work and saving their kingdom and the world. They have no time for romance as of now. But, BC is going to be as long or even longer than One Piece according to Tabata so there is hope for everyone ;)

10. William Vangeance

Look, if I was in the BC universe, what he did would be unforgivable to me. Instead of not enabling his most dearest friend to commit genocide, he leaves it up to him and the person he respects the most to fight to the death so he wouldn’t have to decide. Like who in their right minds would stand aside if their closest friend wanted to commit genocide for something that happened 500 years ago?

I was initially really upset with William but after a while, I started liking his character. Usually when people are like “I like this so-and-so character because they are flawed,” I would be like please🙄 but William is the first character I have ever truly liked for being flawed. Like this man loved Patri so much that he was willing to let people die. Not that it’s a good thing but you get what I mean. But at the same time, just as much he loved, he knew it was wrong so it was an impossible choice for him and I absolutely love that about him. But keep in mind, if he was an actual person I knew, my opinion would be waaaaaay different.

9. Zara Ideale

This man is badass as all hell like cmon. First commoner to become a magic knight??? That’s freaking amazing😎😎😎 and the way he kept a smile on his face despite everyone underestimating him and beating him down? Very respectable😎 The way he was an amazing, single father and a role model to Zora? That’s hot 😎 And the way he inspired my man Julius? Freaking iconic😎

8. Mereoleona Vermillion

She is simply a hot woman with a rough side, an OP character and an amazing leader. What more can I say 🙈🙈🙈

7. Finral Roulacase

I love his character because he is trying so hard to get better for Finnese’s sake. I mean he isn’t doing too good of a job but he is first gaining confidence in himself and I could clearly see a realistic difference in him. I personally don’t ship him with Finesse unless I see them bond more tbh but this is going to be a looooong story so there may be space for development there.

6. Grey x Gauche

Look, I don’t like Gauche because of his sister complex. It’s played off as a joke way too many times and I find it icky but the teased ship between him and Grey seems realistic and nice to me. Like he could help Grey build up her confidence and Grey could teach him what it is to love another person. Ships that build each other up make me go uwu asjkdhakjsd

5. Klaus Lunettes

I absolutely adore Klaus because this man is the prime example of hope for the next generation. He is a noble who was initially derisive of Asta and Yuno because they were peasants but now he actually loves and respects them. This is how the next generation should be. Nobles shouldn’t only learn to tolerate commoners and peasants but actually respect and even love them as well.

I especially like for his Klaus’s love and concern for Asta and find it incredibly wholesome and endearing. He is an amazing friend and actually voices his concerns if any of them are about to do something stupid unlike someone askjdaks

4. Charlotte Roselei

Charlotte is a badass woman and with the way she is written, just because she is in love, didn’t mean that she was any less than her position as Magic Knight Captain. What I mean is that she wasn’t reduced to a woman in love with Yami and actually has her moments where she gets to shine and im not going to spoil anything but she’s doing amazing in the manga and I’m cheering for her 😎

3. Fuegoleon Vermillion

Ok, I know I don’t talk about him as much but I really love his character because he inspires other people like Asta and Noelle and is a great magic knight captain. His character and the way he holds himself also reminds me of Erwin from AoT asdhakdkfsjk. Him and his fire magic and salamander are badass as hell and he also makes for an amazing leader. I genuinely like seeing him being all authoritative and it’s a nice contrast from Julius’ passive attitude. If Julius wasn’t Wizard King, it would be him.

2. Yami Sukehiro

Who in their right minds don’t like Yami Sukehiro? Like he is such a freaking dad to the rest of the squad and he has such amazing fight scenes and his spell, “Dimension Slash?” Freaking amazing like when he got trapped in the Dream World, I knew he was going to use that spell and it was so freaking cool. Not only that, he pushes everyone around him to be better and to surpass their limits. I like his constant presence and he makes for some really funny moments with his dry humor XD

I also love OP characters and I also happened to like time a lot. Like I am a massive Doctor Who fan and I’m a whole physics nerd and I’ve always been fascinated by Time, Gravity and Space among other things so of course I love Julius🥰🥰

I like how there are small details for his time spells like the fact that his Chronostasis spell only brings time to a near stop because completely stopping time would stop the movement of particles and instantly freeze and kill the person. AJSDJLKASJD I’ll stop nerding now(never👹)

Oh god, when I get to True Time Magic in my fic😩 light, time and gravity in the backdrop of magic got me shaking

He’s very charming and has good morals which is a big point in his favor but he’s also such a dad?? He takes Yami and William and basically raises them in their crucial years(teenage is pretty crucial right? I think so🤔) I don’t have daddy issues but GAH DAYUM HE FINE

I know he’s a kid and all that now but knowing Tabata, it’s because if he actually died, things would all go to shit real fast and I believe he would age up in some way or maybe actually grow up gradually and not die again(fingers crossed TvT) and actually contribute to the plot more😩 give me the grown up Julius, Tabata 👹👹👹

I mean if Tabata made the right decisions with his story, he would show Julius become less and less of a centrist in the name of character development and let him lose👀👀

LoSH S2 discussion

I love Legion of Superheroes. And i love season 2, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think about how it could have been improved. In terms of quality, it varies more than season 1. Some parts are top tier while others… eh.

Season 2 is darker than season 1. And there’s the inherent stigmatism that darker means better. But it’s not true.

A horror schlock film is not inherently better than an animated film.

I don’t blame the staff on all its shortcomings. Kids WB was on its deathbed, so they probably had less time to work and iron out ideas. And executive meddling.

The second season had a lot of good elements, but there are things that weighed it down. I am here to discuss how to improve said things.

Heads up: ended up editing part of this post after rewatching the episodes.

This first bit is more of a personal preference, but instead of the 41st century, maybe move the original source of conflict to a farther region of space, one that the UP doesn’t interact with, and has been growing in terms of turmoil until they finally resort to bringing the Legion over. In other words, it has just been put aside by everyone else to the last minute.

Parallel to Brainy’s relationship to Brainiac. He doesn’t want to deal with it. He never brings it up. But maybe if he did, he wouldn’t have gotten corrupted.

This place still has plenty of old documentation of the original age of superman, so Kell is disillusioned with the ideal glory days. Keep Kell Edgy.

Kell’s home and K3NT still gets destroyed - reflects Krypton’s own destruction.

SPEAKING OF KELL:

Make his story more apparent that it’s one realizing that kindness is not an inherent weakness. And neither is being soft. He was raised for fighting and killing Imperiex, and was taught to think that they were weaknesses. Have him realize his identity can be beyond the Clone of Superman made to kill Imperiex. Or rather, have him react more to realizing that he’s moving beyond his given identity.

To clarify; they do address his development in the show a few times, but I want more continuous development instead of the rapid nods we get. Have him try to interact in a more humane way with others. Especially with other members of the Legion. Where they have to take a double take in seeing him acting not that edgy. Maybe offer more flashback of him fighting Imperiex in comparison, and how he treated allies then.

Also put K3NT’s story under the microscope. I doubt Imperiex just came out of nowhere with his attacks. Plus the fact they went far enough to send a hitman after a fucking child? That screams yikes and maybe we need to double check the story.

And an overall issue to be addressed is what rights do robots have and what conditions need to be met? Because let’s face it, we make robots to do complex work for us. But Colu is a culture where the main people ARE robots. Like in Transformers. What line do we draw between non-sentient robots vs the sentient ones in the 31st century? And what about cyborgs/people who give up their original bodies for robotic ones?

Plus Imperiex himself came to be because of the perfected combination of organic tissue and robotics. This topic of robots and individuality/personhood could have been a fun topic to explore.

Don’t sideline the girls. Leave TG alone. 

Don’t put SG in a coma for nearly the whole season - seriously it’s the reason why the guys make one bad decision after the other. Although with that said, it’s because she’s not around we got the majority of s2 plots. She’s the goddamn mom of the squad. Just make her busier and unable to keep an eye on her idiot boys for the plots based on bad decisions to happen. 

Or have her deal with after-effects of what Esper did to her. Maybe after a whole season of being the emotional support character, have her be the one in need of emotional support or not being able to help directly, especially when the group needs emotional support. Emotional support paradox.

Maybe don’t make Cosmic Boy appear as much as a dick in the episodes where he does show up. He’s trying to hold this goddamn team together, and there’s a goddamn tyrant trying to conquer the galaxy. HE’S FUCKING TIRED AND STRESSED. AND IM SURE THERE ARE A BUNCH OF JERKS WHO WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT TO DISSOLVE THE LEGION. Better yet, throw in some more backstory with him and his little brother Pol!

And in regards to Imperiex… The dude has a lot of potential. I like his voice actor, Phil Morris. The guy voiced Dr. Sweets from Atlantis.

But his writing needs help.

In the original DC comics, he’s the embodiment of Entropy. Anyone who’s seen Madoka is probably familiar with what that is. But if you're not, here’s a definition: “ the measure of a system’s thermal energy per unit temperature that is unavailable for doing useful work...” He’s the embodiment of that energy that cannot be used for anything. And Entropy grows over time.

Another definition of what Entropy is “lack of order or predictability; gradual decline into disorder.”

In the comics, he’s more of a cosmic being as a result of him being an embodiment of unusable energy. He’s been in existence since, well, the beginning. He had destroyed the universe and recreated it multiple times. Okay, so that lines up with how the show portrays him. And technically, he does get the universe to reset itself in the 41st century when he alters the 31st century enough.

But I personally feel that making him a cosmic being is kinda… meh?

I personally prefer more personal villains most of the time. Don’t get me wrong, an Eldritch being done right makes a great character, but I can’t see Imperiex as one. At least not LoSH’s version.

Plus I like it when the protagonist sees the villain has a point and has changed as a result for the better.

You know, over a year ago, I used to think that it was impossible to make a tyrannical villain who’s presented as real evil seem complex.

And then… I was introduced to TFP Megatron.

Now for you LoSH fans who haven’t watched Transformers Prime, Megatron was once Megatronus. A low caste member who worked in the mines and Gladiator games. He wanted to fix the growing corruption of Cybertron. To make things better.

But his worse personality traits took over, and he lost that good motivation. Now he’s just fighting to win and defeat Optimus Prime. 

But despite the change of goals and ideals, he doesn’t want to simply abandon his relationship with Optimus. He and Optimus, or as he used to be called, Orion, were fighting for the betterment of society. And they meant something to each other. Megatron doesn’t want to just get it over with. He wants fanfare for his victory over Optimus. And he doesn’t want anyone else to rob him off that. But he isn’t opposed to getting Optimus/Orion back on his side. It’s because of this you can still argue that there is a remaining shred of good in him.

They were the best young lovers anD NO I AM NOT CRYING OVER THEM!

Also, the fact we know he was part of a minority group in the form of the lower cast  that was enslaved can make us sympathize with Megatronus of the past, as well as understand how he came to be.

It doesn’t mean we forgive him for his actions - and he has done a lot of shitty things. And I mean a lot.

But his history is more understandable. TFP Megatron’s a fall from grace.

OK I’m done dissecting TFP Meg’s writing.

We know Imperiex was a slave, and was originally organic, who’s from a society where his purpose is literally just to fight, and was gradually stripped of his original body. He was originally stripped of any agency before then though.

But he says this was a good thing. Calling his original body a weakness. And refers to his old self as a pathetic slave.

He gave up whatever softness he had.

Also, this is where K3NT’s story needs to be reexamined. Imperiex was made during what K3NT described as “A Time of Extended Prosperity”. That time had freaking slaves. And K3NT says that when Imperiex did rise up, they were unprepared. So… they were prosperous, but lacked defense to prevent anything like that happening? Or perhaps those who were in charge were that unpopular that it was easy for Imperiex to start the war.

What made him decide conquering the galaxy was the next thing to do after he had every bit of his original self stripped away? Why go as far as destroy it?

What I’m trying to say is that they could borrow a few pages from the Megatron book. Maybe he was once trying to better the society he was part of, but he decides to play the violent card at some point. And somewhere along that strategy, he starts to lose sight of the initial goal. With that, being the victor and in control becomes the main one.

Or perhaps he has grown cynical of the galaxy as it is and decides it just needs to go all together, and then start from scratch.

Like the second definition of Entropy, he gradually declines in predictability and descends into disorder.

Maybe to juxtaposition the fact that Brainiac became the main threat at the end, make him the opposite or foil to him. Rationality or logic do not serve as first-or-second influences to decisions under pressure. Emotions and his own perceived ideas do.

Speaking of Brainiac, maybe offer more of the OG Brainiac. Give us more of that smooth-voiced Corey Burton. 

Or TFA Megatron.

Also, the members of the legion that only get one episode focus? Give them more screen time. You can’t just introduce superman’s new adopted son Karate Kid and just not bring him for another speaking role again!

Actually, that brings me to another point.

As @spandexinspace​ pointed out, his episode is not the best, and is arguably the worst written of the whole series. Things that are issues do get brushed off to the side.

So a proposal on potential rewrite:

First, have the legion look over its current rules and what exceptions/changes they need to make.

Explore the subject of kids having to participate in these fights.

To clarify, kid shows are meant to be escapism for kids.

Shocking, I know.

So it makes sense that some characters would be the same age as the viewers. 

But while this is good representation, as you get older, you find yourself going “WHY WOULD THE ADULTS LET THEM ENDANGER THEMSELVES?!”

Kids having to fight at that age does have consequences. Batman Beyond certainly addressed it. So did Steven Universe Future.

Steven ended up being responsible for so much, that when he no longer needed to take care of things, he was unsure of who he was. And then there’s the fact he ended up with PTSD because of him having to fight so much. Then you have the fact that Greg and Rose never intended to raise him like their caretakers did... but as good as their intentions were, they still caused damage. Rose for… all the gem stuff. And look, Greg is a great dad, but not enforcing anything for Steven when he’s growing up still has it’s cost.

With Batman, he’s obviously going to do his damn best to keep kids safe, including the Robins. But sometimes, it’s not enough. He wasn’t able to keep Tim safe in the event with the Joker in Batman Beyond. Where he was held captive and tortured.

But the Batkids are never expected to resolve this stuff by themselves. Because Batman knows how much you can get screwed up as a kid. He fucking cares.

And to be fair, in most continuities I’m aware of, the other sidekicks came out pretty okay overall.

Except Jason Todd.

So my proposal?

Have Val originally with Grimbor, as a sort of Protege. But have the legion capture him, only to go “uhhh this is a child with no powers”. And Superman, being the good, wholesome paragon we all love, takes him under his wing.

In all honesty, I want Superman pulling a batdad for Karate Kid in his intro episode the whole time. That was the best part of the episode for me.

Plus after the events of “Cry Wolf”, the Legion should examine the no-killing rule. Because they do need to kill Imperiex to save the universe. But that goes against the code. But they can argue it’s a necessity. But Mar Londo is also a monster. He’s the everyday monster some of us have grown up with.

When do you need to make exceptions to kill someone?

And my final main suggestion:

Add more Mekt.

What the heck were you guys expecting? You all KNOW me by now. I LOVE MY GARBAGE BOY.

Joking aside, here’s what I would do.

Have the Chained Lightning episode pushed back, but have Mekt with Imperiex earlier. Most of us would yell “Why the heck would you join the guy whose main goal is to destroy the galaxy?!” But this is one of the easiest things to address.

Explore more of his past. Use the comic sources with him being outcast for being a solo on Winath. With that in mind, him deciding to side with Imperiex can make sense.

Why try protecting something that has done nothing but hurt you?

There’s actually a pretty good reason why he would side with Imperiex, as seen in Champions and Lightning Storm. Remember, Mekt was willing to cheat to get ahead of the sports competition he was introduced in. And also was thrilled when fighting Garth and was beating him on his own. He likes being in power.

Imperiex offers him that.

As for why Imperiex would bother with Mekt? That’s a little harder to answer. He knows that Mekt has a soft spot for his brother, and in turn sister, which proves to be the reason why the Tachyon Cannon fails. You’d think Imperiex would remove a huge fatality.

But he doesn’t.

Maybe he could hold another type of value for Mekt. Perhaps... nostalgia?

I’m still sold on the idea that they were sleeping together.

Also, give us a conclusive answer on where Mekt stands with the LSV. In the comics, he was the leader, but that role was given to Tyr in the cartoon more or less.

why i think christianity is just one big abusive relationship

tw for christianity, abuse, sexism, racism, uh f slur (f4g), some phrases can be read as antisemitic (i speak very negatively about biblical jews) but i am not antisemitic.

so. all this info is based on personal experience with both topics. I have done little to no research. if you disagree or think i worded something wrong, dm me and i'll edit this post if your points are reasonable.

yes i am a christian (i think) i believe that God exists and there's heaven and hell and angels, but that's it. i don't like going to church or praying or reading the bible and i hate being referred to as christian and i used to call myself an agnostic but apparently if you believe that god exists you're a christion so um LOL. (pls dont cancel me in one of the good ones idc if you fuck in ikea or if youre a fag i swear i only belive that god exists and thats it)

i think we all know what an abusive relationship is. It's a relationship where one person(or people) has a hierarchy over another person(or people) usually most abusive relationships are physical, emotional, or sexual. but there's also mental abuse, power dynamics, exploitation, etc

christianity is ticks almost all the boxes of different types of abuse.

Now abuse is a complex thing. i cant talk much about it in a tumblr text post. if not, id have to make multple parts of this (ill make more parts if people like this one enough ig) so im going to start with things that dont seem abusive but actually are

power dynamics: simply put, power dynamics are usually relationships where one person has more power in the relationship, usually outside of a romantic or sexual setting. for example we have an employer and an employee, a government official and a civilian, an MMA fighter and a teenager, etc. the difference in power can be physical, social, monetary etc.

Now i dont really know what kind of power dynamic that is the most prevalent in christianity(because its a delicious soup of so many things that seperating all the elements is close to impossible), but a really nice one is the rift between pastors and their congregation. the pastor(preachers and priests apply to this but im just gonna use pastor) is usually seen as the head of the church, most times hes more financially stable than his congregation(hmmm i wonder why....), hes seen as a person who could do no wrong by god, he is above his congregation in many ways. another example is between christians and God but uh i feel like if i say more about that sky daddy will kill me himself.

Think about a stereotypical relationship with a power dynamic. (im sorry but the only example i can think of is meredith grey and her italian himbo bf). reread the last few paragraphs. do you understand now?

do you know how many times ive heard a christian say shit like 'God only loves you if you do x and stop doing y' (cough cough being gay cough) or 'if you dont become a jesus kinnie youll go to hell and burn forever? well ive heard it a lot of times, and i never bothered to count

think about those examples i just gave, and think about how twisted it is. think about a little child, maybe she's 5. think about her parents telling her everyday that 'God only loves her if she keeps her virginity till shes married or stays straight and cis or doesnt get tatoos or piercings or only wears clothing that will glorify the lord' this little child is being groomed to beleiving that shes only worth God's love when she deprives herself of so many things that would make her happy (and idk i remember the bible saying that God's love is unconditional... curious....) if you dont think thats emotionally manioulative then damn im so sorry for you

there really isnt that much of an explanation for this one. modern christians see women as objects. literally. women have no worth in the eyes if your average bible thumper.

ive spent all day reading your dbd fic and i have sooooo many feelings about all of them that i dont even know how to put into words. your grasp on the characters is just so incredible, there were characters i didnt know or care about who i now absolutely love and would do anything for purely because of how you wrote them and made me connect to them. i've been reading a lot of dbd fic despite only having played (and failed at) one entire game, and your characterisations will always be my gold star i think, no other has ever seemed to capture the characters so genuinely in a way that doesn't just also excuse their actions, i love how indepth you go into the moral ambiguity of it all. either way, out of all the fandoms im in no other fics have ever just made me actually feel so much, made me physically ache and hurt with what's happening to these characters.

i also really love your character interactions, found family is my all time favourite trope it makes me all gooey and tender even when its also angsty and made me cry like your anna fic did (my mom 😭). also love the dumb teenage antics and interactions between joey & quentin in both their fics, and im also ridiculously invested in them now when before i couldnt tell one legion from the other 😭 i already loved quentin from watching noes but your joey pov and the glimpses into his psyche and history and feelings has won me over too.

ive also set aside my entire weekend to read and absorb and analyse and contemplate and ponder in living memory, im beyond excited 😌😌😌 sorry for this ramble i was just emo

And I am really happy tou enjoyed my like, secondary humanity & virtue ethics study threads—dbd is /such/ a complicated and intricate situation for the charcaters in it, and there’s just so much fascinating black and white and so much grey to just kind of try to think about. Any individual living through either role in the realm would just have so much awful shit to unpack, and god even being one of the sympathetic killers even if you were lile, Rin and had no control, or Adiris and lied to, it would be so hard to get over or through what you did and experienced and even know /how/ to move on. I really like realism and complex character study, so I was living getting to just dig into personal journies for 20+ major charcaters. AH and I am so happy you really enjoyed that side of it in particular too! It’s one I only hear people bring up every so often and I am always ecstatic.

I love him so much guys like seriously i love him. He was the most interesting character to me in sdr2 and i just. think abt him a lot. he’s fun and a little unpredictable and best of all, in that sweet moral grey territory! also he’s great meme fodder

2. Roxy Lalonde (Homestuck)

Roxy is a huge comfort character !! and she’s the only thing about homestuck that matters anymore. sorry guys homestuck is cancelled there is only roxy. not to be one of those people but roxy Was the best person out of her friend group and she just worked So Hard to keep that group from falling apart and she’s, in general, very strong! i love and respect her. 

3. Wheatley (Portal 2)

this man is the reason i am constantly having to restrain myself from replaying portal 2 for the millionth time (among other reasons). he is so unbelievably funny to me in every way shape and form and i just adore him. he PERFECTED the moron character type. hes just so fucking stupid!!!!! how brave!!!!!! also i think him being a twist villain is hilarious and innovative. anyway PLAY PORTAL 2

4. Mettaton (Undertale)

its about the DRAMA. about the ENTERTAINMENT VALUE. and most important. its about YOU, DARLING! hes so extra and that’s his best trait. hes the funniest character in undertale character to me, too. and, honestly, i just lose it over characters with that much ego and drama. deadass i have replayed undertale 2-3 times JUST to fight him again.

5. (Nyo) America (Hetalia)

I’m counting them as one bc its my list and i get to say so. theyre just!! very positive!! and very stupid!! and i think that’s very cool. also its about the Nostalgia.

6. Alex Kralie (Marble Hornets)

now That’s what i call versatility! im limiting myself to one mh character for this list, and it was tough, but in the end alex won out because he does So Much. he’s easily The Funniest character in the series, easily the most quoted, but at the same time probably the most intimidating. also he has some killer monologues and god knows i lose it over a good monologue. i also think that his character remains interesting, even upon closer inspection. you can feel bad for him while also not liking him as a person and i think that’s neat. 

7. Bill Cipher (Gravity Falls)

its basic bitch hours babey!!! he’s evil and he’s having the time of his life being so. i like the way he talks, the aesthetic, the complete lack of emotion driven motivation. he’s just good fun! 

8. Gundham Tanaka (Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair)

this man made me CRY. REAL TEARS. i love him. he has THE BEST quotes, in that they are absolutely nonsensical and appeal so much to my affinity for drama.  he doesnt drop that whole “supreme overlord of ice” thing ever. NEVER. not even when the killing game gets intense. what a legend!! also did i mention he has four hamsters living in his scarf? who he loves and cares for even when he’s mean to pretty much everyone else? @ gundham i love you <3

9.  Mercy (Overwatch)

i like a lot of characters in overwatch, perhaps more than her, but also i have 110 hours on her and legally she has to be the one i pick. i do like her a lot though!! she’s positive, mostly, until she’s sick of that and she decides to bitch. very relatable. also shes really pretty.

10. Aziraphale (Good Omens)

ah fuck this is spiraling down

I don’t have a sense of urgency when my phone makes a sound. I guess this is what being single feels like. It’s pathetic how much ive forgotten about being single. I mean you don’t ever forget being alone. Ever. But like, being single is always complex and different every time. I realized that Netflix doesn’t have a single grey’s anatomy season with lexie grey in it. this is what im talking about. Being single. It’s like losing your sense of sight. All your other senses are heightened. You begin to notice things you normally wouldn’t give a fuck about. I have these words in my brain and I cant seem to put them together enough to create something coherent. There’s a lot in my head. Maybe it’s the hangover or whatever it is that you feel after getting super high. Like hangover but from cannabis or whatever. All I keep receiving are work messages. It’s fucking maddening. Why is everything happening so fast all of a sudden. I keep wondering about words I haven’t heard yet. Maybe everyone is manipulative. in a way. Maybe im living in my post-apocalyptic world. I found out that nothing remarkable has happened to me yet. I haven’t actually been in rock bottom. It’s fucking hilarious what I call rock bottom. I call my break up rock bottom. Seriously how petty am i? someone answer me. other people are actually losing their children, their homes, their brains capacity to release happy hormones and shit and im out here calling a break up my “rock bottom”. I cannot fucking believe how pathetic I sound. Where is this sadness coming from, then? I keep wondering what will happen to me when my father dies. I think ill cry. I think it’ll be sad. But why? I don’t know. I don’t know the guy. For some reason its pretty fucking impossible for parents and children to know each other. Will I be sad because I love him? Where is that love coming from? He was never really there. Well, he was there but he wasn’t. so if I love him where did I get that love. We never bonded and we always disagree. Is the fact that im constantly seeking his approval a sign of love? Or longing? Are they the same thing, love and longing? Or am I just wired to want something so bad when I cant have it. why would I be wired like that? That’s awful. Honestly if there is a god out there they have to apologize to people. Its fucking impossible to win with god, you know? There is so much about morality that I don’t understand. Jesus came to earth on the wrong time. He saved us from the wrong crisis. Maybe he didn’t really save anything or anyone. Otherwise living in this fucking mess should be easy. Give me a good end-of-the-world impression. Give it your best shot. Im sorry its crazy. This time last year I was happy. This time last year I actually thought I have empowered myself. Surprise surprise here I am again waiting to have enough courage to jump off a bridge. Im sorry. No im not suicidal im also not clinically depressed. I also don’t feel sad. I just feel something and I don’t know what it is. It’s like im in a liminal space. Come to think of it maybe life is the liminal space. I’ve literally been dying since the day I was born. I guess the transition never ends huh. Life is a dick. Im living in that dash between the date I was born and the date I die. Theres no meaning to anything. Living means losing more times than winning. The hatred outlives the hater. He cleans his hat everyday, nobody ever touched it (nor Kuchel or Uri), he made once fall Rode down the stairs, he visited Kuchel once Levi was born, he held the baby in his arms and made him laugh; Kenny always denied everything, and faked to dislike baby Levi (the brat was too cute for him)

Unpopular opinion: I think we can all agree he was a very complex and well done character, and we all miss him. I don’t agree with the few ones who say he was 100% evil

Oh, sure! Tho I must saythis answer may disappoint you, because I wasn’t thinking of Bumblebee’sparticular crimes when I made the propaganda post, more like… the Autobot’s ingeneral. (I assume it was the propaganda post that brought you here, anyway!)

(TL;DR: In IDW comics theAutobot/Decepticon conflict is not (as heavily) presented as a thing of goodvs. evil, but rather as a more complex thing which explores questions of grey morality,the greater good, means to an end, and so on. My comment about Bumblebee beingpropaganda was half-joking and half-serious, because it is not that deep, butit could be!

On the one hand, I was justmessing around. On the other, I do find it interesting how the visualrepresentation (as well as the influence of past incarnations of the charactersand popular culture) influence and shape our opinions on certain characters andtheir actions. All of this the point where these influences prevail even whenthe character has (drastically) changed and thus have little or anything to dowith the first “influencer” character.)

If you have seen the movies(by which I assume you mean Bayverse) you may have notices that, no matter whatthe main narrative tries to paint it as, the Autobots don’t always behave very…heroically. In fact, if it weren’t because we know (well, more or less) thebots already we would have a hard time telling the good and the bad guys apartin some parts of the movies. Something similar happens in the IDW’s TF comics.  

(If you meant the cartoonmovie(s?) then I won’t comment anything on them cause I truly know nothingabout them)

There is a lot going on inthe comics all the time, but let me give you some basic context:

While the IDW’s TF’s comics(Gen 1) do show us part of the Autobot/Decepticon war a big part of the comicsactually focuses on the post-war time. If you were rooting for the Autobots I’ve got some good news foryou: They won! If you were rooting for anyone else… well…  Things could be worse.

In the comics Megatron, whohas an interesting backstory as a freedom fighter gone wrong and then rightagain (tho I digress), actually surrenders. He is put on trial and ends uphaving wacky space adventures with Rodimus and company. But he got more thanenough attention on the comics already, so let’s focus on Cybertron instead. Alsothe Rodimus’ crew? They have never done anything wrong, ever! In their lives!(with some notable exceptions)

But where was I? Ah yeah,Cybertron. Good old Cybertron is a mess. Ravaged by the war, it is far frombeing the home some Cybertronians remember. Who is to blame for that? Dependson whom you ask. If you ask the Autobots? The Decepticons did it! If you askthe Decepticons? The Autobots are at fault! If you ask the Neutrals (i.e.Cybertronians who refused to participate in the war or defected during thecourse of it)? Autobots and Decepticons alike are guilty! And if you ask me?Well, you may call me a neutral, but two cannot fight if one does not want to.(Then again, are the Neutrals truly innocent in all this mess? That is aquestion for another day and many headcanons)

But, hey! The war is over,so it is time to move forwards! Forgive and forget, right? Well… kind of. TheAutobots—lead by Bumblebee—and the Neutrals—lead by a former Autobot nowpacifist named Metalhawk— don’t agree on many things, but they have some commoninterests. Mostly, they do not trust the other to rule the planet—nor do theythink the other deserve to do so--, and they both hate the Decepticons. Rememberwhen I said things could be worse if you weren’t an Autobot? It was true, butthey could also be better.

(Here my memory is failingand I can’t find the exact information I was looking for, so try to only halfbelieve me here) Most/all Decepticons who are back in Cybertron are now livingin a shitty half-collapsed building/old & grounded ship* (?), and they are alsochipped. “Chipped?” You may ask, “Like a pet?” And wouldn’t that be fucked upor what? But it’s actually worse. Most/all (?) Decepticons are now the proudowners of an I/D chip, which prevents them from transforming and using special anyspecial abilities they may have. And, fun fact, also has an explosive builtinto it, so any misbehaving Decepticons may be taken care of “accordingly”. Decepticonsare also being appointed as law enforcers by Prowl (sadly and thankfully notninja-hippie Prowl from tfa, but the fucked up IDW version of Prowl, which Iwill talk about more in a little while). This comes in handy when one of them,Horribul, gets in trouble and the Autobots (mostly Bumblebee & co.) decidethey have to make an example out of him, because they simply can’t have theother Decepticons thinking they can do whatever they want, do they?

A series of fun facts:

1º- The Decepticons hadmanaged to deactivate the chips, but to maintain their cover they had to killHorribull :(

2º- Bumblebee, of course, didn’tknew that so he was still cool with killing someone to make an example out ofthem

3º- To add a little bit ofdrama: Horribull died right in front of his conjux (i.e. his sparkmate,husband, w/e you wan’t to call it)

I think this is the mostrelevant fucked up thing Bumblebee has done that I can remember/paid attentionto. The fact that he was an active participant on a war that went on forcenturies (at least) and that he is far from being an innocent bystander—justlike anyone who willingly participated in the war—is relevant too, but I don’tfeel like getting too much into it. And I have homework to do, so there’s thattoo. So  sadly I can’t give you a list ofhis war crimes, but I don’t think it is needed to understand that IDW Bumblebeehas little to nothing to do with cartoons Bumblebee and maybe more to do withfucked up violent Bayverse bee (with the exception of Bumblebee (2018)Bumblebee who is my lil baby whom I love)

*I truly can’t remember ifthis was their choice or if they were told to move there. Either way it addsdramatism to the whole situation so I gotta mention it.
