The first week in Northuldra camp for Elsa had been kind of weird. One one hand, she was delighted to live with the tribe, fulfilled in her new role, freed from the walls that had locked her soul. And yet, on the other hand, despite all of those beautiful feelings, she couldn't find sleep. Now was it because she was excited by her new life, or because she felt nervous about it?
She let her thoughts wander, or rather float over each other, as she curled with her knees against her chest, sitting down a tree in the cold middle of the night.
"Is the lavvo uncomfortable?" Asked a gentle, yet teasing voice, behind her. In that simple question, one could tell that the person was caring, not accusing, but wanted to bring humor to lighten the mood.
Elsa snapped up and twirled her head around, facing Honeymaren. The Northuldra smiled at her to appease her apparent stress.
"No, not at all." Replied the blonde immediately, making it clear that she liked it here. "It's perfect. You guys are so fast at building them, it's such a--"
"And you are so fast at switching the mood to avoid people worrying." Analyzed Honeymaren with the same warm smile.
She saw that she hit right when Elsa closed her mouth, and lowered her gaze, back to curling on herself. Her tense shoulders however slumped a bit. "Sorry."
"There's nothing to be sorry about. What is going on? Are you okay? Well of course you aren't. But do you want to talk about it?" Asked the brunette.
Elsa breathed in longly, to give herself courage, and Honeymaren could hear that she had been crying. It was hard to see the remnants of tears on her face and her slightly red eyes in the low light of the Moon piercing through the birch branches, but easy to guess.
Honeymaren checked around to make sure nobody would disturb them, and sat down in front of her.
"It's not nice to spy on people." Smiled Elsa. She had thought this spot of the Forest would be far enough to be alone.
"I'm not spying, I'm standing guard. I told you, I love to do it now that the mist is lifted. Which is thanks to you," she added as a compliment to ease her mind.
Elsa kept sniffing, not answering.
"And," added Honeymaren, "word of advice, if you don't want to be spotted in the dark when you want to isolate yourself from the camp..."
The blonde lifted her head.
"Avoid wearing sparkling outfits to sleep." Grinned Honeymaren.
Elsa blushed intensely, recowering a bit on herself, though she couldn't help smiling when she saw her white pants. She had a point.
"Alright." She replied quietly. "I admit that it's a bit too extra."
She then frowned at her. "Don't tell Anna I said that."
"I'll have to see her for that." Chuckled Honeymaren.
At this sentence, tension fell in the clearing.
"...Is she the reason of your nightmare?" Understood the Northuldra.
Elsa rubbed her bent legs with her thumb for a moment, then opened up. "Not nightmare. Insomnia."
"So that's the reason why you're outside." Nodded Honeymaren, now that Elsa had finally answered her initial question.
Elsa nodded slowly in return. "I..."
Chestnut eyes shining in the Moon light gave her support.
"It's been like this all my life. Well... Not all. When I was a kid, it was alright..."
There was a silence.
"Then, for the past 3 years, after the Thaw, Anna helped." Tenderly smiled Elsa.
That's all she said, however. But Honeymaren didn't need more to understand the feeling. She had a brother, and she may have met Anna for a few hours, she instantly was wrapped by her caring aura.
"So, the insomnia is back?" Nuanced the Northuldra.
Another sad nod from Elsa.
Honeymaren looked around. "I have to go back to my watch." She said, and for a fraction of a second, Elsa thought that she wouldn't help her. "Do you want to come with me?"
The blonde's heart made a leap.
"M-me?"
"Yes, you." Snorted the brunette.
"But I know nothing about standing guard."
"Nonsense. You were able to spot and stop Bruni on your first hour here, you can manage a few reindeer getting too close to the river. Besides, you ride the Nokk, don't you? You can even gather the herd if needed."
The blush was clear on Elsa's cheeks, even in the darkness, and she had a bashful smile.
Honeymaren's smile was even wider in reaction. "Come."
She sat up, and held her hand to help her stand up. Elsa sniffed one last time, resolutely, and smiled as she lifted her hand to put it in hers.
When their palms touched, Elsa's skin wasn't cold anymore.

one of the main reasons i love tumblr is that its been regarded as a dying platform for years so most of the users are adults who have just stuck around. in my experience its the platform with the lowest chances of being accosted by a teenager

Do you think Bucky would have been okay in an extremely high security psych facility? Like, say he had access to genuinely good therapists and around the clock care in Wakanda, would he have gotten antsy and withdrawn, or would he have done well in that kind of environment?
Hmm... little from column A, little from column B? ¯_( :/ )_/¯
IMO Bucky has a sweet enough nature and sufficient mental fortitude to flourish in any circumstances.
But I do think he'd become restless, even if he made friends and got better in that kind of controlled environment.
A) Having been under the control of others, and survived on his own for so long, it would probably rankle him to have his life once again dictated for him; where he can be and what he can do -- especially after having a taste of freedom just prior -- even if the people doing it were well intentioned, this time.
B) I can't imagine he has a good opinion of doctors of any variety, which wouldn't help.
C) As a supersoldier he has a higher energy level than ordinary patients, so a pace which would seem merely restful to them would feel doubly suffocating and slow-moving, to him.
The real problem of course is how to treat Bucky in the first place.
As far as we know of this universe, all extant psychiatric treatment methods have been designed with non-enhanced patients in mind; to help people cope with traumas it is physically possible to survive (because if they weren't survivable then the patient would be dead).
...But Bucky has survived things it isn't physically possible for a normal person to survive.
So unless there has been some recent innovation in psychiatry specifically geared towards helping enhanced people, in this 'verse, there's no medical guidebook as to how to treat that.
And when you add up all the problems Bucky has simultaneously...
Losing a limb, losing all his family, all his friends, his home world, (arguably, the war), losing his memory, his partner, coping with long term brain-damage, having C-PTSD from the war, and from being tortured beyond the point of human survivability for 70+ years, the stress of being a fugitive for 2+ years, and the moral injury of what he was forced to do to both strangers and his sole surviving loved one?
Even suspending disbelief to suppose it is possible for someone in-universe to treat Bucky successfully, any one of those ^ things would be enough for a psychiatrist to treat on its own.
But all of them at the same time?!

So I fell off with POSTING EVERYTHING in OCTOBER. Some things I'm just not ready to post yet, lol.
However, for my final post of the month, it's gonna be an animatic I never finished from 2011. The above sketch/scribble is about what to expect drawing quality wise.
The original animatic was cobbled together in Flash, which I haven't had for years. SO this is going to be "remastered" in After Effects.
Hope it's fun lol.

One thing I can tell you from watching all this classic Doctor Who and also being the kind of person who's really interested in where aspects of the lore and worldbuilding originate
TARDIS Wiki is one of those websites that is so comprehensive it's functionally completely useless most of the time

okay as someone whos bad at video games (by bad at video games i mean. botw is the first video game ive ever "beat" and its about the hardest im willing for a game to get) do you think that i should get sksw on my switch
i mean. i feel like i need more loz content/backstory going into tears of the kingdom (ah) (AH) and i appreciate your opinions
it depends on what makes video games difficult for you tbh. if you struggle with controls, i would say skyward sword is a definite no. As someone who has played their fair share of video games and grew up with wii motion controls, skyward sword was still one of the most unpleasant and difficult control schemes i have ever had to work with, to the point that several battles were incredibly frustrating for me because i knew what i was SUPPOSED to do, but was unable to execute it properly purely due to the controls. I've been told they were improved in the switch version, but i haven't played it so idk. motion controls in general i think are a bad move when it comes to zelda games, since a lot of the formula for combat relies on players accurately performing certain moves in a certain order.
If your problem with games is that they're too big and/or there's too much content and you get overwhelmed, then i think sksw is actually a pretty good game for you since it's almost totally linear and all the side quests are completely optional. it's completely possible to complete the game by only following prompted tasks and never touching any side quests at all, so if you're someone who's intimidated by a huge open world or a bunch of tasks, it might be a good game for you! but if you don't like combat and prefer the exploration aspect of botw to the fights, bear in mind that sksw is VERY differnt than botw. there's no exploration or open-world factor in most loz games, and sksw is no exception. Sksw is much more like its predecessors in that it's very obviously dungeon-based, so like, the solve-the-puzzles-and-then-fight-a-boss divine beast sections of botw? that's basically the entirety of sksw. if you didn't enjoy that part of botw sksw might not be for you, lol
if you're able to get past the control scheme and you don't mind a lot of dungeons and combat, though, i do highly recommend sksw for the story!! it's a good introduction to loz lore and its characters and overall writing are really strong. i hope you enjoy it if you do decide to get it!

@prematurehag never apologise for rambling in my tags 🫡 and to sorta answer it didnt come up when we were discussing how the "ending" scene of violent affairs would look like we were thinking more closed loop cycle of blood in the water in the early hours of a frigid morning but as i was actually taking the shot and editing i did remember this which was soooo late for someone whos top ten movies of all time includes moonlight 😭 and I SEE IT actually the rare acceptance found in each other in their youth then the forced separation due to other outside circumstances then finding each other again in adulthood they werent intentional but they r there 🤯

Normal lunch break behavior: printing out the two drabbles, annotating them, and figuring out how to draw them
I'll need more than just a lunch break to process my thoughts, but (1) thank you for the treat! (2) I imagine that these drabbles coexist in the same AU. (3) "Can we be good together?" / They could be good together. (4) I'm this close to writing fanfic in this area myself.
