the new book I bought today! it's a wlw romance about a girl from the southern US reconciling her queerness with her religion - I haven't finished it yet but it's really good so far

my new polaroid camera!! technically it isn't new but I only just figured out how to make it work, but I love it

the fact that I have a 4-day weekend this week (I have tomorrow off because my teachers are on strike) and a 3-day weekend next week

I'm going swimming tomorrow! I really love swimming and I lost the habit of going weekly after the pandemic, but I'm trying to go more regularly now!!

omg hi bestie !!! i did have a good day i hope you did too !! im very very honored youre asking me this hehe tbh ive only gotten back into kpop for 3 months and im also trying to get to know more groups but i definitely have some recommendations !!

my ult group is definitely txt, i just love their music so much and i love all the members too. a whole lot of their discography is about growing up, loneliness, something found family-esque if that can be a genre of music, and so many other things that i really relate to. they even have a song about quarantine because of the pandemic which i find really unique and which i really love. and the 5 members are probably some of my most favorite people in the world right now

itzy also helped me get back into kpop like last year for some time and this year too. i just really like how their songs are about self love and confidence and i really loved their most recent album that came out like last month i think? and i also love all 5 of the members too, theyre probably the reason i started wanting to get into kpop again

i also love stray kids, mostly for their talent and the members. and lately ive been listening to gidle and le sserafim since i really like their songs too and im trying to get into them more. obviously there are so many groups out there but personally those are the ones i stan

for me when i was getting back into kpop, i really just tested the waters, i just let myself focus on this group and if i wanted to try another then i would. but honestly the industry is filled with so many talented and amazing groups that i find it hard not to be a multi stan hehe and also something about kpop is that there are two sides to it: music and the idols. sometimes i stan a group more for their music, sometimes i stan them more for their members, and sometimes i stan them for both! if you want my opinion then i would recommend txt because maybe we'd have the same taste, who knows? but if not then there's so many other groups too!

Mini Snippet

“Supervillain.” Villain stumbled over their feet, trying so hard to keep up with their partner’s long stride. “Please. Please, let’s talk.”

Supervillain whirled around so fast, Villain slammed their nose into their chest.

“Oooh, now you want to talk. Now you care what I have to say. Because now there’s nothing for me to say no to, is there?”

Villain tightened their fists. “Look, I’m sorry I went behind your back, but it had nothing to do with you personally.”

Supervillain scoffed humorlessly. “Not personal? Not personal? Of course it’s personal! You let Hero go! After everything, you just waltzed in and released them!”

“Y-you we’re going to kill them. You know how I feel about—“

“So you let them kill my people instead.”

Villain stopped short, mouth dropped open and frozen as they searched Supervillain’s face for some sign of exaggeration. Some proof that they were just trying to make a point.

“What?” they eventually whispered.

“Ten people. Hero killed ten people on their way out of my base last night. Half of them were non-combatants. So tell me, Villain. Why—“

They cut off the rising heat in their voice and took a deep breath.

“Why,” they repeated calmer. “Did you think the life of that snake was more important than our own allies?”

Those words, with their quiet sharp edges, did more damage than the earlier explosive outburst.

“I…I didn’t…if I knew…” They struggled for words beneath Supervillain’s boring eyes. That was the look they gave strangers, enemies, subordinates who stepped too far out of line; they’d never looked at them that way before. “I just wanted everyone to be okay.”

Supervillain blinked at them. “Grow up, Villain.”

Villain flinched.

“You should know by now that it’s not that simple. We don’t have the luxury of keeping everyone ‘okay’. There’s just us and them. Pick a side.”

Supervillain turned brusquely on their heel, but they only got in two steps before Villain caught their sleeve. Their hand trembled around the balled fabric.

“Are…are we okay?”

Supervillain.paused. When they looked over their shoulder, their expression roiled with something between anger and pain. “I don’t know. All I know is I don’t want to see you. Not for a while.”

They took Villain’s hand in their own, gently breaking their grip before continuing down the long corridor.

They did not look back.

Broken Wings and Parcel Strings

“I won’t ask you to stay,” Protagonist said, staring up into the treetops.

The miracle rolled onto her side, wings readjusting on her back as she stared straight on into Protagonist’s face. Dappled light streamed between the branches overheard, catching in gleaming strands of coppery hair.

“Tired of me already?”

“Don’t tease.” Protagonist rolled away from her, seeing her so beautiful and impossible beside him while also knowing the inevitable beyond made his chest ache. “I know it wouldn’t be fair to ask.”

Soft fingers ran through his own ashy mane, too drab to be silver or starlight or any of the other adjectives she flattered him with. “If it helps, you feel closer to home than anything else I’ve experienced.”

Protagonist smiled, but the words didn’t breach the stony fortress he’d already built around his heart. “You probably say that to all your lovers.”

She snorted. “Pray tell, who are all these lovers?”

“I don’t know, I just assumed… You go everywhere and meet everyone, it can’t just be me.”

The miracle wrapped her arms around his middle, spreading her feathered wings to full span before settling them overtop him. From the waist up, they both laid enclosed in dim, clean scented warmth. “Would you prefer me to have others? Would it make it easier to know I leave lots of people?

“No.”

“I do leave many people. Friends, teammates, ties stronger than bloodlines. But you may take comfort in knowing there’s no one else like you.”

“But you’re still going.”

“I thought you said you wouldn’t ask me to stay.”

“I won’t.” The thought of holding her down, binding this living definition of freedom to one place, one cage, it made him sicker than letting her go. Miracles weren’t meant to be hoarded. “J-just…come back, ok? Now and then. When you can.”

“I always do.”

And she did. 6 months later. In the dead of night during a rainstorm. It was as if the skies were crying just for her.

When Protagonist answer the slow but insistent rapping, he almost didn’t recognize her. First of all, she seemed smaller, head bent toward the ground, arms wrapped tightly around clinging clothes, ears poking out pink from sopping hair. She almost looked ready to seep between the porch cracks with the rain.

He peered sideways at her clenched jaw and empty eyes.

“Miracle?”

She inhaled abruptly. “Can I…stay here?”

The way she said it was almost like she expected him to decline.

“Yes!” he said, opening the door wider. “Yes, of course!”

She slunk over the threshold, and as she dripped into the corridor, he noticed the red stained across her back, sticking her shirt taught between her shoulder blades.

It struck him all at once the real reason she looked smaller.

The wings and the carefree days were gone.

Heroes Don’t Wear Tights

"What do you think you're doing?"

Vigilante froze half-clamber, long legs still dangling in mid-air as his thick arms clung to the fire escape bars. Wide smoky eyes, darker behind the ill-sewn mask and charcoal rubbing, slowly raised to Hero's hovering form.

"Um..." They scrambled the rest of the way and hid the glistening gash in their bicep with one bruised and bleeding hand. "H-hi."

Hero raised her brow. "Hi."

"H-Hero, right?"

"That's me."

"Wow. I just wasn't expecting...you. Here. Do you want..." they glanced absently through their window. "Well, I have juice, milk, water--"

Hero landed gracefully in front of him, so close their noses were almost touching and forcing the civilian back a step. "I want you to stop playing dress-up and stay home."

Vigilante blinked, taking that statement in bit by bit. "Wait, you want me to stop doing hero work?"

"It's not hero work," Hero snapped. "You're not a hero. You're a civilian in tights."

Vigilante rubbed his shoe against the ankle of his black compression leggings, the lighting from his bedroom partially illuminating the blush flooding his cheeks. "Don't heroes--"

"Heroes don't wear tights," Hero said firmly. "Except in movies. You're an amateur waiting to get hurt, and it's time to stop."

"B-but I can help." It was strange how someone so large could suddenly seem so small. Like Hero had deflated all the confidence right out of him.

She sighed. "Look, it's not that I don't appreciate what you're trying to do, but there's a process to these things. Paperwork. Licenses. Random people can't just go around fighting crime. On top of that, you're unpowered."

Vigilante's eyes flashed. "So what?"

Ugh, she wasn't in the mood for an argument on the politics of heroism. The debate on the licensing of unpowered people was still ongoing, but Hero had no idea why. Sure, it all sounded nice on paper, equality, community, whatever, but putting regular people against criminals that could unwind a person with their eyes with was like sending lambs to the slaughter.

"So you think you got out of that warehouse tonight on your own?"

Vigilante blanched. Soot and smoke still clung to the threads of their disguise. He hadn't even tried changing somewhere on his way. He was just lucky Hero was the only one who'd followed him home.

"Yeah," Hero said dryly. "You didn't escape by chance or skill; you escaped because I was there to pick up the mess."

"Please," the civilian said, shrunken once again.

"I'm sorry." She clapped a hand on his shoulder. It was supposed to be comforting, but she didn't think it was coming off that way. She'd never been good with feel-good stuff. "But stick to your day job."

"Ok," Vigilante mumbled, staring at his feet.

He was lying.

But how else could Hero convince him?

"Good," Hero said, feigning obliviousness, and watched him slip over his windowsill and draw the curtains. Hm. Not so impressed with her anymore was he. People rarely were. But what did she care what people thought as long as they stayed alive?

She'd just have to keep an on him. At least until she came up with a more permanent solution.

Hmmm, so maybe this snippet was a bit boring, but basically, I just wanted to write a hero x vigilante where the vigilante is just a clumsy civilian too reckless and well-intentioned for their own good. Most hero x vigilante is centered around the dynamic that hero is more morally upright and vigilante is more morally grey, but I wanted to go from a stance of a person who has been given legal permission to fight villains and a person who is taking it upon themself.
