Bohol In My Mind // film dump
Tumblr media
07/29 - 08/02 :: Panglao, Bohol
I’ve always been fascinated by Bohol since I was a kid as I always see the iconic Chocolate Hills in my favorite history textbooks and wonder what they look like in real life but I just never got the chance and the timing to visit there. I committed last year that I would visit this beautiful island this year and I'm so happy that I did after my Boracay trip last month. I stayed in a very peaceful villa near Panglao with my friends for almost a week and it was one of the most beautiful trips I've been on this year mainly because it's not just pure beach trips and booze, those kinds of stuff, but also countryside trip tours where I get to explore the other side of the island. I brought my Kodak film cam with me to take some snapshots and here are some of the shots that were developed by a wonderful photo lab called Sunny16 somewhere in QC.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Baclayon Church, the oldest Christian church in Bohol built in 1556. I’m so amazed how structures from the past can withstand the test of time and natural disasters considering they were built without the current modern technology.  I'm also amazed how recent restoration efforts did not diminish the original, classic aesthetic of the church.
Tumblr media
The countryside trip itinerary that you can book in Bohol also includes stops in parks like the Xzootic Animal Park in Loay where you can see exotic animals. I have mixed feelings about this one. I'm not gonna lie. I was fascinated by how BIG and calm the snakes were lying in the park in a crowd of people and I was extremely bewildered how giant snakes were just lying there unbothered AF lol. Though I trust that the people in Bohol take good care of these animals, I still cannot help and think about the kind of stress these animals have to endure knowing they're animals that necessarily don't like human interaction and prefers to be on their natural habitat but they're being carried around like stuffed toys for people wanting to take selfies with them. I specifically saw one yellow snake (the one on the pic) where it seems to walk away wanting to go back to its cage and not feeling the people around him but was carried back again by the zookeepers for people who wants to take a pic with it including us! I felt a sense of worry and a sense of guilt about that but again, I know these parks operate within the bounds of laws and regulations so I'm just gonna put all my worries into that and praying they're really taking good care of these animals and hopefully touching them is no longer a practice in the future.
Tumblr media
One of the highlights of the countryside tour was the buffet lunch on Loboc river. I wish the trip was a bit longer though but I have to say the food was great! Before we went to Chocolate Hills, we passed by a tarsier sanctuary and their man-made forest which I thought was a park but a highway with busses and vans passing through. So it's a photo-op moment at your own risk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If there's one thing that I liked most about the countryside tour, it was the ATV around Chocolate Hills. It was fun and muddy, and I'm screaming and panicking but in a good way. It was my first time. It's like biking, but with an ATV and THEE Chocolate Hills around you. What a playground! I don't mind having my white Stan Smith sneakers covered in mud after that because it was hella fun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The remainder of our tour was spent on island hopping and beach bumming, the latter of which is my all-time fave travel activity. But please never ever forget your SPF 30+ if you're just like me who loves to beachbum all afternoon! Panglao Bohol also has a "Boracay-like" stretch of white sand and one of them is the famous Alona Beach. Though smaller, it has finer white sands too with crystal clear open-to-all beach with restos and establishments on the beachfront for food trips that offer a variety of cuisines to try.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also visited the infamous Virgin island the same day where some tourists were charged 26k worth of food. Honestly, I can say that their food was indeed kinda expensive for me too, and good thing we had already eaten on a nearby island after snorkeling because we knew for a fact that their food prices will be very high. It was a right choice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The villa that we stayed in was just right. It was quiet, gave us a lot of privacy, and was just in the right proximity to Alona beach and surprisingly the food that they cooked for their guests was kinda cheap but very delicious as well. We lounged, ate, and drank in their pool once we get back from touring the island and it was a great way to cap the day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our stay in Bohol was kinda memorable for me as it was a combination of long roadtrips and also being able to relax on the beach and just enjoy the sun and the fresh air and it recharged me in a lot of ways. Bohol was my last stop after flying to Zamboanga and Boracay and by that time, for some reason, I kinda missed going back to work when I was in the airport flying back to Manila and I think it's a great indication that disconnecting for a bit is indeed a good motivator for our capitalist-enslaved spirits and how it breaks the tedium of  "quiet-quitting" or moments when everything is just too much of a thing to get into. I’d definitely go back! : )
Balik balik sa Bohol,
J!

A Step Back In Time ⏱
EP 8 🎬
Tumblr media
It’s been a year ago since we went to my first longest trip to the north, the provinces of Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte. These two provinces were located in Ilocos Region which is in the northern part of Luzon. Ilocos is best known for its historical and cultural sites that is really worth exploring. Our journey began with a scenic drive from Calamba Laguna to Ilocos Norte, as we made our way through the countryside, the lush greenery and picturesque landscapes served as a reminder of the beauty of nature. The long drive was made enjoyable with music and laughter, Our first destination was Laoag City and it was also where our accommodation located. Continuing our journey, we ventured to the Kapurpurawan Beach to see some of the windmills but sadly, we could not able to see them clearly, especially in Bangui, because it was raining heavily and the wind was so strong at the time we went.
Tumblr media
No trip to Ilocos Norte would be complete without visiting the iconic Paoay Church, also known as the St. Augustine Church. This magnificent structure, built in the 17th century, showcased exquisite baroque architecture and stood as a testament to the rich history of the region. Visiting Vigan is a unique and unforgettable experience. This charming Spanish colonial town, located in the northern Philippines, features beautiful cobbled streets and authentic architecture that transports visitors back in time. Throughout the city, there are many museums, churches, and antique shops to explore. The highlight of our Vigan visit is the Raniag Festival Float Parade and their famous Empanada filled with grated green papaya, ilocos longganisa and egg.
Tumblr media
Our trip to Ilocos Norte was an experience that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. From the historical landmarks to the breathtaking natural wonders and the warmth and hospitality of the locals, every aspect of our journey was a testament to the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of this extraordinary province. Ilocos Norte taught us the importance of exploring and appreciating our own country, as it holds treasures that are waiting to be discovered and celebrated.

Ang Agos ng Buhay sa Twin Cove Resort
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media

Best 5 Essential Experiences in Tagaytay
by: Sareena Mae Talisay
1. The viewing of Taal volcano
Tumblr media
Taal volcano is the biggest asset of Tagaytay that made it feel relaxing to view. Taal volcano is a large caldera filled with Taal lake, it is actually the smallest active volcano in the world with an elevation of 1,020 feet at its highest point (311 meters). Tagaytay, Taal Lake, and Taal Volcano are just a few miles from south of Manila.
2. Sky ranch Tagaytay
Tumblr media
Sky ranch Tagaytay is a five-hectare leisure park that features exciting rides, games, food stalls and restaurants that is perfect for family bonding. Sky ranch Tagaytay also has a good spot for viewing Taal volcano which makes the park more exciting.
3. Zipline
Tumblr media
Riding the zipline is a challenging way to enjoy and experience the lush surroundings of Tagaytay. But don’t worry because this zipline is not too high and not too long where you can still enjoy riding while viewing the beautiful surroundings of Tagaytay.
4. Picnic grove Tagaytay
Tumblr media
This place if also perfect for family bonding. if you prefer on bringing your own food, Tagaytay picnic grove is one of the best place to picnic where you can rent tables, gazebos, or huts that will help you feel comfortable. Some spots in this place are blessed because they have a view in Taal lake, while the others spot are under the shade of trees.
5. Kawa bath
Tumblr media
Kawa bath is a larger-than-usual metal wok that is used in cooking dishes for big celebrations, but in this place they used it for bath because it has many benefits such as relaxing, relieving the body aches and pains. It also makes the skin looking healthy and glowing. It is perfect for those people who really wants to chill and relax.

Enchanted to meet you 🎢🎡🎠🎪
EP 6 🎬
Tumblr media
If US has Disney the happiest place on earth, Philippines has Enchanted Kingdom were a lot of filipinos can rEKindle their own magic!. Enchanted Kingdom is a world class theme park located on a 25 hectares land in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. It is one of the most favorite place to visit with the family especially during holidays and long weekends. Enchanted Kingdom offers a variety of ticket rates from EKspress ride access, regular day pass, junior day pass, senior | PWD day pass and junior PWD day pass. we bought the Ekspress ride access ticket so we don’t have wait in line. We tried and enjoyed so much the different rides around EK especially the extreme ones like the Anchors away, for me it is extreme especially when your seat is in almost stern side of the ship😭
Tumblr media
My family decided to go on ferris wheel as our second ride to try, As I stepped into the ferris wheel seat, I felt a sudden rush of excitement mixed with nervousness. The ride began slowly, and as we rose higher, my heart pounded faster. Looking out at the stunning view from a bird's-eye perspective was breathtaking. The wind blew my hair wild, and I felt a sense of freedom and thrill. At the peak, I could see the entire city below me, and it was a sight to behold. As the ride descended, I felt a tinge of disappointment that the experience had ended even tho it is a nerve wracking situation (that is why i don’t have the chance to take picture of that moment😢), but the memory of it will undoubtedly stay with me forever.
Tumblr media
The park also features themed areas such as Midway Boardwalk and also a lot of food stand that you can find around EK such as Coffee, Hotdogs, Donuts and etc. around 8:00pm the park announced that there will be a parade but we will not able to see it because we are in flying fiesta at that time, but around 9:00 pm the park announced  there would be another breathtaking moment a fireworks show, for this moment they have to stopped some of the rides like ferris wheel and Space shuttle for i think safety purposes. Watching a fireworks show is an exhilarating experience. As the first fireworks launches into the sky, you can feel the anticipation building. The loud booms, crackles, and dazzling bursts of light leave you awestruck. The colors and patterns fill the sky, painting beautiful pictures as they slowly fade away. The crowd's cheers, the background music and exclamations only add to the excitement. During the finale, you're left breathless as the sky is filled with a barrage of fireworks, creating an unforgettable, magical spectacle. A fireworks show is a joyous celebration for all ages and a perfect way to make any moment like this memorable. To conclude, It was an amazing experience visiting this theme park that finally my childhood dream came true and I’m hoping that I will be able to go back here soon.🪄✨
