Dwight watched curiously as the killer started to fumble with the string of bells at his heel, his head tilting silently; he chose not to comment because he didn’t want to assume, nor did he jump in to help for the same reasons. His pupils contracted, however, when the string was dangled for a moment, and it took every inch of him not to pounce at them. He had to remind himself that he was a human first and cat second; he couldn’t just give in to his feline whims at any given moment. 

That is, until the string of bells was placed on the ground in front of him as an offering. Dwight pressed himself to the ground, eyes blowing wide with playful desire, and his tail swished back and forth before he sprang forward and scooped them up into the air. He grabbed the fabric into his mouth and kicked at the bells with his back feet, making them jingle vigorously before he kicked hard enough that they flew from his mouth and into the air, where he pursued them with quick little leaps across the ground. He battered and toyed with the bells with glee until he seemed to realize what he was doing and came to a halt, embarrassment flooding his features.

“O-oh--uh- thanks,” he said sheepishly, ears twitching flat. “Sorry, I-I hope those were for me.” They probably were, judging by the way he’d literally laid them out in front of Dwight, curse him and his insecurity. He hesitated before he picked it up again and laid it back in front of The Jester, backing away a little and hunkering down as if quietly requesting it to be tossed, similar to how he’d been playing by himself just moments ago.

I was thinking about the assassination hero au and a thought occurred to me. How often is the word kill, or die or similar thrown around? Especially by Bakugou. Now how does 3-E react to those words

Mostly with Izuku laughing in Bakugou’s face tbh. They are (at least mostly I haven’t decided if anyone else is going with them at this point) alone in UA and they are also the only one in 1-A pre-USJ that has been put in danger/faced people who want them Actually Dead that Bakugou doesn’t register as a threat in their eyes anymore.

Well, not much of a threat anyway.

And after the Sports Festival when Izuku has truly laid the part of them that is still scared, quirkless little Deku to rest by “killing” the monster that had haunted them for so long? Everyone else sees why Izuku had always laughed in the face of those threats. Why they had looked at a building full of killers (“Small fries” Izuku had called them before they had all been scattered around the USJ) and grinned like they were coming home. Why there was always something Other about them during training where they were very clearly pulling punches and teaching more than they were learning.

Out of all of them, Izuku is the one who has seen death. Who has dealt it. Who has stood with a gun to their head and a smile on their lips. They aren’t easily frightened anymore.

Not when they are the assassin.
