Was re-listening to the KNB audio drama CD of the Teiko school festival and I think we as a society moved on far too quickly from it being canon that Akashi is a literal tabletop game nerd? He literally knows how to play every tabletop game from shogi to chess to Othello to whatever tf Happy Life Game is. And he's also good at card games like Poker, as shown in the Replace Plus chapters. I need to see more of Akashi playing tabletop games. Imagine the chaos that would ensue if the GoM ever played Monopoly. The audience would like to see it.

I was working on a video where I would go through every episode of knb and talk about it in depth because I have so much to say about this show I genuinely think it's a great show

But I quickly realized it was simply too much for me to do even if I split it into two video 💀 like I said I simply have too much to say and I've never made a video like that before

hi lab!! hmm honestly as the number 1 imayoshihead on tumblr i have to say imayoshis drama cd... i just love that its more about how others see him & the respect others have for him than really mr silly doing stuff himself. especially since in the manga imayoshi mostly just gets badmouthed a lot when people talk about him (lol). its cute<3 i just appreciate that they took the opportunity to showcase his actual normal guy personality off the court rather than aggravate his edgy creepy bad guy situation post touou/seirin 2. we needed that

also of course the strky replace chapter not only bc well its strky but also because there are so many bits and pieces of information on the uni situation of the 3rd years who are in it and i love that. even though i havent seen anybody else really pay attention to it as much. all of it is canon to me though. but other than these obvious ones id say the psp game kiseki no shiai just because they wrote so much original content for it and it was a blast. everything about it is so silly and fun and im so glad they did that instead of remaking the story exactly as it is in the manga :)

and for pokemon id say after gen4 i like gen6 the best! not necessarily a fan of the story of the game or anything but i had the most fun playing it i think and i really love the look of the region and character design... also there are a lot of gen 6 pokemon i really like

For knb hcs: I'm obsessed w the drama CD where hanamiya imayoshi riko etc play an escape room game and akashi is revealed to also have been there the entire time I think its so funny. Akashi while he's still in his I Am Absolute throes of mental illness mode being a gamer is so funny.

I think red eyes akashi is the type of person who only plays the pre-installed games on computers and old phones. 4 suit spider solitaire and he wins every time even when it's statistically improbable. Minesweeper. Jewels. Pinball when he's feeling adventurous.

VS yellow eyes akashi who is a hard-core gamer. Guy who would get in too deep into speedrunning and would have the world record for a plethora of games except for the fact that he does these things alone in his own room and no body knows about it. I bet his WoW account is insane.

seirin and kaijou interactions are always WILD. i can give many examples:

1. yukio, yoshitaka, and ryouta chilling in a cafe one day and happen to meet seirin's boys. they are in the middle of practice on how to talk to woman and such. junpei and shun are in the middle of break time and they eventually pretend to be the girls WKWKWKWK yoshitaka and shun talks about dajare (of course) and yukio-junpei ends up talking about basketball AHAHAHAHA what a conversation [drama cd]

2. yukio, yoshitaka, and ryouta (the trio travelers, it seems) go to the summer festival and at the end, they join seirin watching the fireworks. [drama cd]

note: the most interesting scene is when yoshitaka implements his lesson with satoshi through complimenting riko about her yukata in descriptive and poetic way XD AND RIKO BEING EMBARRASSED because she never got a compliment from other boys (except seirin) before.

3. in knb game street rivals(?), yoshitaka makes some dajare/puns and suddenly shun comes up and commends the good puns of him, and yoshitaka is flattered. they end up talking about dajare and such.

(+) shinji and satoshi are baffled to see that someone takes an interest to puns as passionate as shun XD

there are some moments i get. will list it later if i find more.

besides those reasons, kaijou is the first team to match the "new" seirin; which both teams have kisedai members on their first-string. both have shown support and healthy rivalry towards each other and to me, it seems like an old best friend who fight then laugh it off seconds later. i think this dynamic is somewhat reflects on the coaches: genta and kagetora (although he isn't directly involved). based on trivias and drawings on replace plus and fandisc, they get along well than most national team's members.

enough rambling today. i will definitely looking forward to see more of this two chaotic comedy high schools interactions.

Headcanons for Akashi laughing 🤭

Back with another headcanon post. Hooray for chronic Akashi brainrot! Lemme make this quick so I can go to bed.

As we all know, for most of the manga/anime, Akashi is someone who is portrayed as a serious, analytical, and (depending on which personality is in control) cold person. But he wasn't/isn't always like that as we've come to realize. Let me explore his character chronologically through the canon material before I get into my headcanons so we can establish some things about his personality.

When he was a child, he was seen to be much more of a smiley person because while his mother was still alive she allowed him to just be a kid. So I'm sure he had plenty to smile about before her passing.

After that, Akashi enrolls in Teiko, and at age 13 he still smiles, but they're smaller and he seems more mild-mannered and reserved compared to when he was younger. However, that doesn't mean his smiles aren't genuine. He still had happy moments in Teiko up until his second year, and he enjoyed hanging out with the rest of the GoM + Kuroko and Momoi. But we still never really saw him laugh. I'm sure he did during those times, but it was never anything that was shown explicitly.

After he switched personalities, he was barely smiling at all. Bro was miserable. He would smile every once in a while but in more of an unhinged way if that makes sense. Maybe he chuckled once when he met Mayuzumi. If you can even call it a chuckle. It was more like he puffed out a breath of air. And again, it was in more of an unhinged way. I remember in one of the Replace novels, Mibuchi made an observation that before Akashi switched back to his true self, he could never tell if his smile was genuine or if he was simply using it as a tool to get others to let their guard down. This is what I mean by "unhinged".

But post-Winter Cup? Akashi is nothing but smiley and I love that for him. Obviously, it's still slightly toned down, but it's a much better improvement from both his first year at Rakuzan AND his entire Teiko run. He seems to have just finally given up on facades and allowed himself to be more open with how he feels, which has canonically led to his teammates seeing sides of Akashi they'd never seen before.

In the post-Winter Cup content, I've seen him chuckle a lot more, and his voice when he chuckles is the most precious thing ever and I wish I could hear more of it. But that takes care of the canon, so let's get into my headcanons, shall we?

First of all, what makes Akashi laugh? Well, from the canon, we've seen that most of the time, it's when he's watching his teammates' antics and chuckles in amusement. But if you really want to make him laugh, I feel like, similar to my headcanons on how to startle Akashi, you'd have to catch him off guard. Like, you'd have to say or do something so ridiculous and left-field that it catches Akashi off guard and makes him laugh out of the sheer unexpectedness of it all.

So, how would Akashi look when he laughs? It would depend on how hard he's laughing. If it's one of those cute lil chuckles he does, he has this small smile on his face and his eyes sparkle with fondness. But if you're lucky enough to get an unrestrained laugh out of Akashi, chances are either his head is tilted back or his shoulders are hunched as he's bent over trying to catch his breath. He's probably not even looking at you either because when he laughs like that his eyes can't help but close. And his face crinkles in the most precious way.

How does he sound when he laughs? For small chuckles, we already have examples of this in canon; refer to the KNB drama CD season 3 volume 9 if you need a reference. But if he were to laugh really hard? Well, first of all, he pegs me as the type of person who would at first try and hold himself together before failing miserably.

I'm not sure if this counts as canon or not, but I remember a KNB video game where there was a scene where the GoM was reminiscing on some couple's costume event they were dragged into participating in back in Teiko, and Akashi had mentioned that when he saw Aomine in a dress and Midorima in a woman's kimono, he literally had to stop looking at them to keep from bursting into laughter.

Going off of that, if Akashi was caught off guard and found something really funny, he'd probably be like "PFFFT" before catching himself and trying to hide his growing smile behind his hand. But then it gets too hard to hold in his laugh so he gives up and just laughs wholeheartedly. The more funny something is, the harder it is to hold back, so if he's laughing really hard, you will absolutely hear it. He's not a super loud laugher like Kise or even Takao, but if he's laughing hard he's definitely not quiet about it. His voice sounds very melodic while he's laughing, too. He probably got that from his mom. 🥹

How do people react to him laughing? GoM + Momoi are more accustomed to seeing him happy/smiley, so when he laughs, they're more endeared by it, if anything, because it reminds them that Akashi is back to his old self. But his Rakuzan team (more specifically, the Uncrowned Kings) is still getting used to Akashi's true self and is figuring things out about him every day. So I would think that post-Winter Cup is when they hear Akashi properly laugh for the first time and all of them come to a nonverbal agreement that they must protect Akashi's smile at all costs. They also take note of things that Akashi finds amusing just for the sole purpose of using them to make him laugh again and see that adorable laughing face of his.

As time goes on and Akashi becomes more open, it's less and less difficult to get him to laugh, and he expresses himself much more freely compared to before. Happiness is a good look on him and his friends hope that he continues to stay this happy for a long time.

Okay, I have to say, hands down my favorite piece of official Hanamiya-related content is “ Knb Season 2 Drama Cd 4: “Escape ”, the drama cd where he, Imayoshi, Riko, and Miyaji play an online-escape room game together.

(without actually knowing who the other players are since they all go by aliases, Hanamiya’s was “Mist”)

It’s SO out of left field, but exactly the kind of extra content I need more of.

Hanamiya using a fake “friendly voice” when he was speaking with the other players, while his internal thoughts were just “Are they stupid?? What’s wrong with them??” was hilarious. Jun Fukuyama did such a good job distinguishing the two versions

 It’s especially funny when he was talking to Imayoshi in a friendly way, while internally getting more annoyed, his friendly voice diminishing gradually

Also the idea of Hanamiya playing these kinds of games in his spare time is interesting....it reminds you that in the end, Hanamiya is just a teenage boy.

My brain has no filter right now so imma talk about my otps for a bit (by otp i mean that i willingly read fics if it’s them)

Ryoma/Sakuno(PoT) - cute, shipped them since uhh 2007. I dont really care if they end up together in the end but I hope their friendship lasts forever. Bonus if Kin-chan gets involved with them. Also I want Sakuno’s braids to be sentient and act like tentacles that can strangle creeps and/or smash 120 balls on the opposite court like some hydra monster.

Kurogane/FaiTRC)- actually married. They are Couple goals (minus the loss of body parts). Emotional Baggage is Spicy af.

Tezuka/Fuji (PoT)- like srsly why do i ship them?? They’re the pair that should be the least expected to get together but they do. Tezuka’s a brick wall and Fuji is a selfish egotistical genius brat. So fcking dysfunctional yknow??? Tezuka is a bit interested in him but also doesnt get involved too much. But I love the challenge and the angst. There’s obssession to the point of projection and there’s a dollop of respect but unlike most ships they dont really talk to each other??? What we have is fuji’s internal musings ffs. Tezuka’s POV is only found in fanbooks/drama cds and other extra material. Life is Hard but hey they bring in the money so there’s lots of teasery material. Konomi gdi. What’s your deal, man.

Prussia/Hungary(Hetalia) - this is not even rooted in any historical basis bruh. However they play each other very well. They are both so angry, spunky and proud and also broken. Love myself some adult loving.

Kagami/Kuroko(KnB) - sweet vanilla melts in your mouth, caring but not annoying, good lord milkshakes and cooking and sweetness and ahhhhhhh they’re just... perfect for each other.

Makoto/Haruka(Free!) - seemingly domestic at first glance but holysht I still cant wrap my head around how an aquaphiliac is so codependent to an aquaphobe. Also do I mention how they’re on different career paths lmaooo. So much room for angst bro. Chef’s kiss.

Miyuki/Sawamura(DnA) - probably the loudest ship I have. It’s ego meets ego times 10. There is constant yelling and banter and underestimation and getting goosebumps. Shipping them make me so basic. I dont even want them to play on the same team after they graduate/move on to college/go pro. It’s electric but also hmmmmm it borders the line between domesticity and disaster. Maybe bec i dabbled in quiet ships for too long that this gave me a whiplash (also they have 3,800 fics on AO3 im spoiled for Content)

Yeah i know most of these have been labeled “Toxic” but what’s life without a little thrill??? (and also hate from the fandoms coz they think shipping the most popular stuff is Obnoxious. I’ve moved past the need for ship manifestos coz in the end they dont matter. nothing’s canon anyway wwwwwwwwww)
